Trey Songz Returns With His Sultry New Single 'Can't Stay Mad'

Trey Songz is back with another new song his day-one fans will love, and it's iHeartRadio's latest World Premiere.

On Friday, May 9, the R&B singer delivered his new single "Can't Stay Mad." The sultry, emotionally raw track allows Trigga Trey to dive deep into the highs and lows of a toxic yet irresistible love. The Virginia native uses his signature blend of smooth vocals and honest storytelling to admit he’s hooked, and he can’t stay mad. His slow-burning anthem captures the fire of a relationship where love and chaos collide. Whether it’s wild public arguments or steamy reconciliations, Trey knows it’s real and messy, but at the end of the day, it’s love.

"Can't Stay Mad" is the fourth single Trey Songz has dropped since the beginning of 2025. He kicked off the year with "Lonely" and followed up with tracks like "Lost In Time" and "Gimme A Chance," both of which were produced by Bizness Boi. It's not clear where these songs will end up, but it looks like he's preparing to drop his ninth studio album. If true, it would be his first album in five years following his 2020 LP Back Home.

Trey Songz performed several of his latest tracks and numerous fan favorites while on "The Millennium Tour." The Grammy-nominated crooner headlined the successful tour alongside Bow Wow and Omarion plus special guests Plies, Boosie Badazz, Rick Ross, Ray J, Bobby V, Pleasure P, Sammie, and Nivea. The tour began in Kentucky in March and wrapped up in Los Angeles last month.
