Carrie Underwood shared a sweet photo with her mother, Carole Underwood, in honor of Mother’s Day on Sunday (May 11).

Underwood said she was “so glad to have my mom with me on [American Idol] tonight! I’m missing my boys, but she made this Mother’s Day extra special! ❤️” Underwood and her husband, former NHL star Mike Fisher, share two young children, sons Isaiah, 10, and Jacob, 6 (and Fisher helps the kids with Mother’s Day gestures for Underwood). The country star shared a sweet Mother’s Day tribute from Jacob on her Instagram story before she took her seat as a judge on American Idol.

Carole Underwood has been part of her daughter’s Idol journey from the start. Underwood made her highly-anticipated return to Idol as a judge for the first time this season, 20 years after she won the show’s fourth season in 2005. Her mother drove several hours with her from their Oklahoma home to St. Louis, Missouri, where Underwood auditioned for the show in front of then-judges Randy JacksonPaula Abdul and Simon Cowell. She performed Bonnie Raitt’s “I Can’t Make You Love Me.”

Underwood previously said “my biggest female influence would have to be my Mom. She was the first person that I was around that really taught me what it was like to be a woman, to be a Mom, to be a wife, to be a daughter and a sister. And just watching her and how she did everything with grace and integrity and she’s so strong. I mean, she was just the best role model anybody could have ever had.”
