Carrie Underwood wore a radiant golden gown to the American Idol finale.

Underwood made her highly-anticipated return to the competition show as a judge for the first time this season, marking 20 years since her own career-launching victory. The country star won Idol’s fourth season in 2005. Now an eight-time Grammy winner, Underwood joined Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan at the judges’ table and took the stage with stunning looks throughout the season.

During the finale on Sunday evening (May 18), Underwood also wore a shimmering silver dress and a Western-inspired look, which she wore when she performed with Idol contestant Slater Nalley (she also surprised the crowd with fellow country artist Cody Johnson, who joined Underwood and Nalley on stage to perform his duet with Underwood, “I’m Gonna Love You,” as a trio). She shared photos of each look on Instagram on Monday (May 19).

Underwood has turned heads in gorgeous looks throughout the season, including beach-worthy wardrobe pieces in Hawaii, a princess-inspired gown, her 2005 finale dress (proving it “still fits” two decades later) and other nostalgic nods, and more. Relive Underwood’s Idol journey in photos here, and take a look back at her fashion moments as a judge below.
