Another suspect has agreed to plead guilty to ketamine-related charges connected to the untimely death of Friends actor Matthew Perry.
According to court documents obtained by Entertainment Weekly, one of Perry's physicians, Dr. Salvador Plasencia, whose criminal trial was slated for August, pleaded guilty to "four counts of distribution of ketamine" and could face up to 40 years in prison.
Plasencia is one of four individuals who've entered plea deals in connection to the star's fatal overdose since the investigation was reopened in May 2024. Dr. Mark Chaves, Perry's live-in assistant, Kenneth Iwamasa, and drug dealer Erik Fleming were arrested and charged for helping supply the Friends Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing author with a lethal amount of ketamine.
A fifth suspect, "Ketamine Queen" Jasveen Sangha, pleaded not guilty and will appear in court in August. She was accused of working with Flemming and Iwamasa to distribute over 50 vials of ketamine to Perry over two weeks.
According to ABC News, Plasencia was introduced to Perry through an unnamed patient who referred to the actor as a "high-profile person who was seeking ketamine and was willing to pay cash and lots of thousands for ketamine treatment."
The former doctor administered ketamine to Perry at his home on multiple occasions and was paid $12,000 for each visit. Plasencia contacted Iwamasa one day before the 17 Again standout's death, writing:
"I know you mentioned taking a break. I have been stocking up on the meanwhile. I am not sure when you guys plan to resume but in case its when i'm out of town this weekend I have left supplies with a nurse of mine ...I can always let her know the plan."
Perry was found dead in the hot tub of his Los Angeles estate on October 27, 2023, as a result of a ketamine overdose.
