Major Change In Titans' Starting Quarterback Battle

Tennessee Titans quarterback Will Levis has opted to undergo season-ending surgery on his right throwing shoulder, the team announced in a statement shared on their social media accounts Monday (July 21).

"After consulting with doctors and his representatives, Will Levis has decided to undergo shoulder surgery that will sideline him for the entire 2025 season. We support his decision to focus on his long-term health. He approached the offseason with professionalism and showed clear growth as a leader. We remain confident in his full recovery," the Titans said.

Levis, 26, suffered the injury early in the 2024 season but had hoped offseason rest and rehab would allow the shoulder to recover prior to experiencing discomfort during minicamp, a source confirmed to ESPN's Turron Davenport on Monday.

Levis then began seeking other medical opinions before ultimately deciding to undergo surgery. The decision comes less than three months after the Titans selected former University of Miami (FL) quarterback Cameron Ward, who will take first-team reps when training camp begins on Wednesday (July 23).

Veteran Brandon Allen, who was acquired as a free agent and had previously spent three seasons with head coach Brian Callahan during his tenure as the Cincinnati Bengals' offensive coordinator, is expected to be the team's backup. Levis threw for 2,091 yards, 13 touchdowns and 12 interceptions while going 2-10 in 12 starts during the 2024 season.
