Jim Kerr has ruled the airwaves for nearly six decades (since Saturday, February 11, 1967, to be exact), and has experienced his fair share of unforgettable on-air moments, both awe-inspiring and accidental.

The Rock & Roll Morning Show host has been lighting up listeners' lives since his teen years, and has interacted with some of the world's most-renowned musicians. He fondly remembers standing beside Elton John at the piano and sharing a microphone with Paul McCartney, but says he can't single out just one moment from his extensive and exciting career.

In anticipation of National Radio Day on August 20, the beloved radio host unveiled his favorite interviews and traditions, and reflected on his most difficult on-air moments.

Speaking on his biggest on-air "oops" moment, Kerr mentioned he was once fired for falling asleep on the air for over half an hour!

"I fell asleep on the air when I was 18 at WORJ in Orlando on a Saturday morning. I just put my head down for a second, I lifted my head back up, and 33 minutes had gone by. I looked down, and all the phones were lit up. It was a pretty embarrassing moment for me. I got fired."

The standout also spoke in detail about a series of "tough" interviews he conducted on his birthday, December 9, 1980, the morning after legendary Beatles co-founder John Lennon passed away.

Despite a few arduous moments, here are many aspects of Kerr's career that he would deem exceedingly "special." The radio host loves giving birthday shoutouts and even recounts wishing the same listeners a happy birthday every year for the last four decades!

"Alan and Delores Salazo of New Jersey. Their first date was at one of my personal appearances, and I announced their daughter's 30th birthday just a couple of weeks ago. So moments like that I get to relive. And it makes me feel good every time I have that experience."
