Jamie Lynn Spears' oldest daughter is speaking out on her own terms about the accident that nearly took her life when she was a child.
Maddie Aldridge, 17, broke her silence on the near-fatal ATV accident she lived through in 2017, opening up about the experience that left her hospitalized and in a coma in a lengthy video shared to YouTube on Tuesday (August 12), per Page Six. She was just 8 years old when she was injured during an hunting expedition in Louisiana after the ATV she was riding flipped over.
"I did have an accident," she said. "I was in a coma, and I came back to life, and I'm very blessed. So yeah, I've just been very accident-prone. I swear my parents are amazing and they did not do anything to me."
The Zoey 101 star, 34, was nothing but supportive of her daughter speaking candidly about the life-threatening crash. She reshared a clip from the video to her own Instagram, noting that while the channel was "supposed to be a fun way to document her senior year," it allows the teen to also share the "not so fun parts of her life too."
"You can work so hard, and do everything right, yet still face adversity, no matter what path you're on in life. You can't control everything that happens to you, but you can decide how you react to what happens to you," she wrote in the caption. "I know being a resilient person is one of the best qualities a human can have, but it's only earned by having no other choice but to be resilient. Gotta trust Gods plan."
Spears concluded her post by praising her daughter for meeting all of life's challenges head on.
"I'm so proud of this kid," she said, "she never lets anything or anyone sit her down, and sharing her journey through it all hopefully inspires others to never stop going hard for what they want out of life."
Spears shares her eldest child with ex-fiancé Casey Aldridge, People reports. She is also a mom to 7-year-old daughter Ivey, whom she shares with husband Jamie Watson.
