Cardi B may have gotten loud with the former security guard who sued her, but she's adamant that their shouting match never turned physical.

The Bronx native took the witness stand on Tuesday, August 27, on the second day of trial for the civil lawsuit Emani Ellis filed against her. After Ellis told the court Cardi tried to punch her and slashed her face with a long fingernail, the mother of three denied the allegations and told her side of the story. Bardi explained that she and Ellis got into each other's faces after she accused the former security guard of recording her at her doctor's appointment.

"It was a verbal incident," Cardi B said on the stand. "I personally feel like if there's no physical touch, there is no incident. There was a verbal altercation. If you think that's an incident, a verbal altercation, then it's an incident for you. But we both have different opinions. It's a verbal altercation. She didn't hit me, I didn't hit her. There was no touch, so to me, there was no incident."

"It was like a verbal fight, but it didn't get physical at all," she reiterated.

Ellis was emotional on the stand while she described her version of what happened. She claimed Cardi B threatened her with violence and berated her role as a security guard. She said the situation was "super traumatizing" before she revealed that she experienced depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress due to the confrontation. During her testimony, Cardi B denied allegations that she spat on Ellis and hurled racial slurs at her. She also asserted Ellis was a lot bigger than her and emphasized that she would never try to fight someone taller than her, which is why she resorted to her verbal attacks.

The former security guard ran into Cardi B with her phone in hand while the Grammy Award-winning artist was leaving her obstetrician's office in 2018. Ellis sued the rapper two years later for assault, battery, and infliction of emotional distress. Cardi B pleaded not guilty to the charges.
