Zac Brown Says Dolly Parton Brings 'New Perspective' To Tribute To His Kids

Zac Brown wrote a heartfelt ballad for his kids, and collaborated with legendary country star Dolly Parton to offer “a whole new perspective.”

The Zac Brown Band frontman wrote “Butterfly” with Sacha Sirota, Dan Auerbach, Stephen Lamb and Kristin Wilkinson. It’s one of the latest tracks to arrive from the Grammy-winning group’s upcoming seventh studio record, Love & Fear. “Butterfly” — plus its “deeply moving” music video— and “Give It Away” arrived on Friday (September 5).

“Getting to record ‘Butterfly’ with Dolly is a dream come true,” Brown said in a statement. “She’s always been one of my biggest inspirations, not just as an artist, but as a person. Collaborating with her brought a whole new perspective to the song. Together, we were able to capture the power of storytelling, weaving a narrative we hope will deeply resonate with listeners. Her voice brings so much heart and soul to this track and singing it with her was pure magic. This song was written for my kids for all the challenges life brings.”

The two new songs follow “I Ain’t Worried About It” and “Let It Run” with Snoop Dogg from the 13-track album, which is set to release on December 5. On that day, Zac Brown Band will also kick off highly-anticipated performance dates at Sphere in Las Vegas, Nevada.
