Taylor Swift Recalls How 'Nervous' Travis Kelce Was Before Proposal

Travis Kelce had to shake off his nerves before proposing to Taylor Swift.
The Life of a Showgirl musician appeared as a guest on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Monday (October 6) where she shared new details about the lead up to her now-fiancé asking her to marry him, per Page Six. She previously confirmed that the NFL star popped the question after filming Swift's record-breaking podcast debut on his and brother Jason Kelce's New Heights podcast.
"I think, for Travis, the podcast was just sort of a distraction, sort of ruse, to keep me not looking out the windows of the house," she said, adding that there blackout drapes placed on "every single window of the whole house," which he doesn't typically do to record the podcast.
While she initially thought her beau was "really serious about" giving her privacy to record the episode, his nervousness gave clues that there could be some other reason.
"I kinda realized that he's walking around sorta nervous about the podcast [saying], 'My heart is racing... I know how much this means to you. I just really want this to be what you'd hoped it would be,'" she recalled. "Because we'd been talking about doing the podcast and announcing the album. And he's like, 'My heart's just racing.' I've never seen this dude nervous. Ever. He's professionally not a nervous person."
The "Fate of Ophelia" singer said that after they filmed the podcast episode, Kelce asked if she wanted to "just walk around the backyard and have a glass of wine," which she noted, "I'm always gonna wanna do that." That is when she realized the footballer was going to propose, which she said was the "best-possible-case scenario." They announced their engagement after two years of dating on August 26, sharing several photos of the romantic garden proposal as well as pics of her new diamond engagement ring.
Elsewhere in the interview, Swift gushed over her longtime friend Selena Gomez's recent wedding to Benny Blanco and revealed what she said while giving a speech on the big day.
