Drake Surprises Fans At Vybz Kartel's First-Ever Show In Canada

Drake gave Vybz Kartel a heartfelt welcome at the World Boss' first performance in Canada.

On Sunday night, October 26, the iconic Jamaican artist hit the stage for the first of three shows, produced by OVO, at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto. Midway during Vybz's set, Drizzy made a surprise appearance and gave the legendary dancehall artist his flowers.

"Look at all these people right here, how much time we've spent with this man's music right here," Drake said, per Coast Reporter. “We’ve been waiting to see you our whole lives. Welcome home — we’re so happy to have you."

Vybz rocked a Blue Jays jersey as he delivered a slew of hits to his Canadian fans, including Drake who has consistently cited Vybz as an inspiration for his own music and career. Drake also delivered several hits of his own including "Controlla," "One Dance," "Nokia," "Hotline Bling" and more.

The arena was packed with people who have never seen the critically acclaimed artist, born Adidja Azim Palmer, perform in their hometown. It's Vybz's first time performing in Canada since he was released from prison last year. He was imprisoned in 2014 following a murder conviction, which was overturned in 2024. Vybz continued to keep his music career alive by releasing albums from prison.

Since his release, Vybz Kartel hit the ground running between successful tour stops in Miami and New York City, and dropping new music. He recently teamed up with DJ Khaled for his hit "You Remind Me" with Mavado, Bounty Killer, Buju Banton and more.
