Jessica Simpson is celebrating choosing "faith over fear."

On Saturday (November 1), the "I Wanna Love You Forever" singer, 45, took to Instagram to mark eight years of sobriety. Paired with a smiling selfie, Simpson reflected on how far she has come in the years since making her choice to get sober.

"8 years ago today I made the choice to confront, to confess and to let go of the self-sabotaging parts of my life that I was choosing," she said. "Making that decision allowed me to fully live in the pursuit of God's purpose for my life. Alcohol silenced my intuition, blocked my dreams and chased my circulating fears of complacency."

"Today I am clear. Today I am driven by faith," she said. "Both fear and faith are something that we feel and may not see, I'm so happy I chose faith over fear. It was not in the fight that I found my strength, it was in the surrender."

The Dukes of Hazzard actress has been open about her sobriety journey in the past, celebrating the yearly milestones in the past and even explaining how taking that step has brought about a positive change musically as well as personally. Earlier this year, she detailed how getting sober helped her "artistically" and improved her songwriting skills.
