Speaker 1 (00:01):
This is the best of two pros and a couple
Joe when Lamar airings Rady Winn and Jonas Knox on
Box Radio.
Speaker 2 (00:13):
I mean, listen, I heard a lot of people saying
a lot of stuff about, well, listen, Dallas can still
win if this, and Dallas can still win if that,
and Dallas just needs this to happen. You know what
Dallas really needs. The Mavericks need the Celtics to not exist.
If the Celtics didn't exist, they might actually have a
shot at winning in the series. But as it stands
(00:35):
right now, it's over. That's a rap. And now we
just get to see whether or not they get swept
at home or losing five.
Speaker 3 (00:43):
That's where we're at.
Speaker 4 (00:44):
Yeah, it's trending really fast towards cities sweeped in four.
I mean, it's funny though, the big two in this
coming into this series, we talked a lot about Kyrie Luca,
you know, that tandem, that that duo, how they got
Dallas to this point, and it's been Jalen Brown consistently,
(01:05):
and then Tatum as well, who had a huge night
last night. I know we've talked about the other complementary pieces.
There's no, poor zingis at least not last night. And
they've been they've been the duo. They've been to tantem,
they've been the two that we should have been talking about.
And Jalen Brown was absolutely phenomenal last night. You know,
three point shooting was tough at times, but outside of that,
(01:28):
I mean, he's still made buckets when they needed to.
When Dallas started to try to come back there towards
the end, he still was able to hold them off,
you know, almost himself. And you know, outside of maybe
a couple of plays here or there, Jalen Brown has
really led this team all three games so.
Speaker 2 (01:44):
Far minus two eighty to be the MVP right now
in the in the series.
Speaker 4 (01:49):
And he should be.
Speaker 5 (01:49):
Yes, this was a Jason Kid game and he failed.
As a coach. Schematically schematic team. They started off game
stressed no, no, it's it should be a direct hit
because this was one of those deals where you had
(02:10):
you came out with the right game plan. It was
to attack the paint. They came out, they attacked the paint,
they took the lead, they had a commanding lead. Then
all of a sudden, it was this sloppy, careless basketball
that that the Mavericks started to play, they started shooting
(02:32):
careless shots. They were careless with with the way they
passed the ball. You know, some of these turnovers were
just not the type of turnovers that you should see
in the biggest game of the year for your team.
I thought this was more so about what the Mavericks
didn't do versus what the Celtics did do in this game.
(02:55):
And and yes, give give Tatum and give Brown credit
because they put up the points that were necessary to
walk down the Mavericks when they took the lead, and
then take the lead and take a commanding.
Speaker 4 (03:09):
Why did you feel like the Mavericks really had a
commanding lead early on?
Speaker 5 (03:13):
They were up, they were up by what how how
many were they up? Buying much after the first quarter,
it was they got up by by halftime.
Speaker 4 (03:23):
They were they had not they were up by one.
Speaker 5 (03:25):
It was like tied up by halftime. Yeah, I mean
there was moments. I don't I don't recall the exact score,
but there had to have been a point where they
were up by at least ten points or more. Absolutely
there was, I'm pretty certain.
Speaker 4 (03:41):
I mean, what's the third quarter hit? It really was
a wrap.
Speaker 5 (03:45):
I didn't think so. I felt like they.
Speaker 4 (03:48):
Bought it three and two a couple of times, but
it just never felt like I thought the Jason Kidd's
biggest mistake, and he would see the frustration for Luca
was when there was a missed long three. I think
live they got the rebound, he kicked it to Luca
and Jason Kidd called a time out, and at that
point they'd just come back like they were, they were
getting close, and I think the possession before they took
(04:10):
a bad shot, Jak took a time out, Lucas slammed
the ball. You could tell he's frustrated because they could
have got another transition bucket. But it almost I think
that was like six minutes left in the fourth. But
I mean, really it Boston controlled that game from halftime on.
I mean that.
Speaker 5 (04:26):
I'm gonna disagree. I felt like they go ahead and
do it, but they I'm going to go ahead and
do it. They they they they fought back, They brought
the game back within reach of being able to get
the lead again, and it just seemed like every single
time they did they they just got like the shots
that they were taking, they.
Speaker 4 (04:46):
Were like Dallas never led after the third quarter.
Speaker 5 (04:50):
I know, I know, I know, but they were they
were competitive and bringing it back. By the fourth quarter,
they were in striking distance to be able to get
it down the stretch. There there was like at least
I want to say, like five to six minutes that
was left. Maybe maybe a little bit less than that.
But they had it where they they they could have
got it. All they had to do was get two points.
(05:13):
They come down, Kyrie chucks up a three. They shouldn't
have chucked up a three. He like, he like isolated.
Horford took a three. It's like, you're down by four,
you're down by four, get two points. Play defense, Get
two more points. Play defense. They were the shot selection.
(05:36):
The things they did to me, they were ill advised plays.
Speaker 4 (05:41):
I do I.
Speaker 5 (05:45):
Also think and I know that did it so many
different times.
Speaker 2 (05:48):
I know the three that you're talking about, because I
even thought the same thing, and Mike Breen made the
call to where it looked exactly like the three.
Speaker 3 (05:54):
He hit against the Warriors, and.
Speaker 2 (05:57):
And so at that point, I think Luca had fouled out,
so it was really that was your best option.
Speaker 5 (06:04):
Kyrie could have went to the hole. He should have
went to the hole. They were. I mean, I just
I don't know. I just feel like this was a
game where they could have kept control of what was
going on if they kept the main thing the main
thing early on, and they didn't. They got they got
ahead because they were going to the to the rim.
(06:24):
Kyrie got going as as we thought he would get
going because there was not that presence in the paint.
You're going to the paint, you're going to the rack,
you're getting buckets. It's creating moments like Lively missing dunks
alley you dunks that he would have made before. Like
it's just to me, I don't know, man, maybe the
(06:46):
moment was too big for them. It certainly did not
seem like they were to me out matched in this game.
They weren't outmatched. They were outplayed. And I you know,
for the game three, I just I think it was
more on Dallas than it was on on the Celtics
last night.
Speaker 2 (07:06):
If you asked me, do you want to hear Luka
doncik uh bitch about the officiating. He fouled out, he
was he was in the wrong, all right, So so
Doncic fouls out in the game, and what was a foul?
And then they decided that. You know, he was upset.
He told the bench to challenge it. They challenged it.
(07:28):
His feet were still moving. He was gone from the game.
So Lucas spoke about it afterwards.
Speaker 3 (07:32):
Let's take a listen, Luca, what did you think of
the whistles that.
Speaker 4 (07:35):
Went against you in the fourth quarter?
Speaker 6 (07:37):
I mean, yeah, I don't know. We couldn't play physical,
So no, I don't want to say nothing. But you know,
six follow in the NBA Finals, basically I'm like this, Uh,
come on, man, better than that. Every time they jog,
(08:00):
basically call the fall. So I tried to better. Uh so,
uh got to get better.
Speaker 5 (08:09):
Yeah. The most were letting him play. They did let
the some up. Both sides got away with fouls the most.
Speaker 4 (08:15):
The movie screen they called it was awful though.
Speaker 5 (08:20):
He moved into him.
Speaker 4 (08:22):
No, he was his position. I thought maybe if they
thought he leaned.
Speaker 5 (08:26):
Or something, but linked into most of it is a
tickie tag call. But he leaned into him the most.
Speaker 4 (08:32):
They couldn't challenge it. Well, you can argue, but they
couldn't even challenge it.
Speaker 5 (08:35):
They couldn't challenge it.
Speaker 4 (08:36):
Right.
Speaker 5 (08:37):
The Maluca wasn't in position either.
Speaker 2 (08:39):
Most of the most egregious call of the game was
Derek White in front of the official foul literally grabbed him,
said I'm fouling him. Call it and the guy's looking
right at him and they.
Speaker 5 (08:52):
Didn't call it like they told him too foults and
he's looking around, going dude, I'm literally pointing at you.
Speaker 3 (08:58):
I'm grabbing.
Speaker 2 (08:59):
I had to pull his sleeve off his elbow and
they didn't call it. That's supposed to agree. Like That's
what I'm like. I don't like even when you're trying
to foul. They didn't get that one right. But the
Luca moving, I mean, as an.
Speaker 5 (09:11):
Immediate conversation after it was what's the betting lines?
Speaker 4 (09:15):
Like?
Speaker 5 (09:15):
Is this about? Is this about the point spread? Now?
That's what made the conversation with the people I was
with when that happened, It was like, is this about
the point spread?
Speaker 2 (09:23):
You don't think the NBA wants the series to go
longer than four games? Like they they they need, they
need as many games possible.
Speaker 3 (09:31):
I know ESPN does. I know like they want their league.
Speaker 2 (09:34):
To be seen as much as much as possible, And
right now it's a complete and total mismatch.
Speaker 4 (09:38):
I think I've always heard and I don't know this
for a fact. I think it's like Game five is
break even and then six and seven networks make money.
That that was the old model, and with the what
the rights they're paying for some of these leagues, I
don't even know at that point if they if they
make that much anymore, And if you're thinking about how
(09:59):
much some of the works are giving up for it,
it might be more difficult, you think, depending on viewership.
But usually I think it takes to get to game five,
five or six, and then it's like after that, if
it gets the game seven is really that where they
make all the money.
Speaker 3 (10:14):
We won't have to worry about that this series.
Speaker 5 (10:16):
Yeah, watching Game four because I have to do it
for work. If if if I wasn't working, if I
wasn't wait wait wait, is Game four tomorrow? Friday? Friday?
I'm not watching. I'm not watching. Y'all got the show Friday,
I'm I'm out. I'm gonna be with man in Tennessee.
I'm not even watching this flipping game. So you know what, Rocket,
(10:39):
let's keep let's keep it real. I'm yeah, I'm gonna
go see the what kind of dog is that? Is that? A?
What kind of.
Speaker 4 (10:45):
I don't know, rocket top two some type of I.
Speaker 5 (10:48):
Think it's a hound. Anyway, I'm gonna be there seeing
the orange and white, you know, the cream sickle colors
of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. But in college somewhat kind
of the same kind of right, it's kind of the same. Yeah,
I'm not even watching game four. Flip game four?
Speaker 3 (11:07):
Yeah, what about up on game Saturday?
Speaker 5 (11:10):
Or can kiss my ass? Yeah?
Speaker 3 (11:12):
But you got up on game Saturday. You know you
want to recant?
Speaker 5 (11:14):
No, I don't, No, I don't. I'm visiting with my
It's all about man up. So you know what. N
b A Boston Celtics. Congratulations on your your your championship run.
You're back. Another banner for for for the legendary franchise.
Speaker 4 (11:37):
Yeah, that airport man every time you go in there,
just another banner banner.
Speaker 5 (11:41):
The happy for the Boston fans. Congratulations Mavericks. You did
exactly what we thought you would do. Be like a
Dallas team, get to the big big, get to get
to the playoffs. Wow, I mean, at least you did
better than the Cowboys. You made it all the way
to the end, but you did what the Cowboys do
(12:03):
you're choked. I'm not watching. I'm not watching anymore. Disappointing.
You could have made it a series. You could have
gave us a tat bit, a glimmer of hope. You
gave us nothing. You gave us absolutely nothing. And you
heard that that was the alarm. Yea, that was the
(12:23):
alarm on your season, Dallas. And it's gone off. It's over.
Speaker 2 (12:27):
And it's Jason Kidd's fault that Luca is an awful defender.
Speaker 5 (12:31):
It's your fault, Jason Kidd. Your game plan stunk. I
loved you as a player, I love you as a coach,
but this one you're stunk.
Speaker 2 (12:44):
By the way, Jason, by the way, Jason Kidd has
pointed out before in subtle ways, and I'm wondering if
it's not gonna get any more subtle than he has
already where he said, listen, you know, Luca, maybe just
you know, don't bark so much at the officials. You know,
maybe it's like, uh, you know, like not every single time.
He literally complains every single time like he's got to
(13:07):
be the worst in the NBA.
Speaker 5 (13:09):
Lebron's the worst Lebron.
Speaker 2 (13:11):
I don't know, man, I think Luca's overtaken him, you think.
I think so it's every single time to where like
he's on the ground and you know he's there, there's
a four on five happening the other way because he's
sitting there complaining to the officials.
Speaker 3 (13:27):
And then like some of these, like if we can talk.
Speaker 2 (13:30):
About breakdown, every single foul what he fouled out on
was a foul.
Speaker 5 (13:34):
It was a foul, And to this point, I almost
feel like, because it's Luca, it was it was the
best decision to challenge it, even if even if he
said to do it or not to do I felt
like it was close enough. You take a chance. Well
you had to lose, right, But then you get another
situation where it might have been a challengeable city like
(13:57):
that that you could have challenged. There was one situation
until I forget what it was, but you had no
challenges left to even challenge it. So it's kind of
the moving screen not that. But I don't know if
they would have overturned it, but you would have had
a challenge to do it. I don't know. Man, listen
to Cane down to that hell of a run for
the Mavericks.
Speaker 1 (14:16):
Be sure to catch live editions of Two Pros and
a Cup of Joe with Brady Quinn, LeVar Errington, and
Jonas Knox weekdays at six am Eastern, three am Pacific
on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 7 (14:30):
Hey, we're Cavino and Rich Fox Sports Radio every day
five to seven pm Eastern.
Speaker 3 (14:35):
But here's the thing.
Speaker 7 (14:35):
We never have enough time to get to everything we
want to get.
Speaker 5 (14:38):
To, and that's why we have a brand new podcast
called over Promised. You see, we're having so much fun
in our two hour show. We never get to everything, honestly,
because this guy is over promising things we never have
time for. Yeah, you blubber lit lame and me.
Speaker 7 (14:53):
Well, you know what it's called over promise. You should
be good at it because you've been over promising women
for years.
Speaker 5 (14:57):
Well, it's a Cavino and Rich after show, and we
we want you to be a part of it. We're
gonna be talking sports, of course, but we're also gonna
talk life and relationships, and if Rich and I are
arguing about something or we didn't have enough time, it
will continue on our after show.
Speaker 3 (15:10):
Called over Promised.
Speaker 7 (15:11):
Well, if you don't get enough Covino and Rich, make
sure you check out over promised and also uncensored by
the way, so maybe we'll go at it even a
little harder. It's gonna be the best after show podcast
of all time.
Speaker 3 (15:21):
There you go, over promising.
Speaker 5 (15:23):
Remember you could see on YouTube, but definitely join us
listen over Promised with Cavino and Rich on the iHeartRadio app,
Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts.
Speaker 2 (15:33):
We do this when there's these big golf events because
it's like, do we want to sit here and try
and break down who's actually gonna win. It's either Scotty
Scheffler or somebody you've probably never heard of, which, by
the way, I think the latest odds I saw Scheffler
is like a plus two to eighty, which if you
just think about that at a major tournament, like that's
pretty dominant. That he's at that point in his career
(15:55):
to where it's like, if he doesn't win, like it's
teetering close to even money, which is not normally the case.
Speaker 3 (16:02):
Tiger Woods.
Speaker 2 (16:03):
Maybe the last golfer who was in sort of the
vicinity of this being the overwhelming favorite to win all
these tournaments. But we decide, all right, well, we've got names,
so Lee kind of threw out a little twist on this.
Speaker 3 (16:15):
There's five people that'll.
Speaker 2 (16:16):
Be drawing names from the hat even though there's six
of us, which would make it a little bit difficultly
to go to a piece if we've got ten names
in the hat.
Speaker 3 (16:27):
So we get we get out.
Speaker 4 (16:28):
Of Why aren't we doing everyone drawing a name?
Speaker 2 (16:30):
Because Lee said we could do two a piece if
we wanted to, or do we just do one? So
how do you guys feel about just doing I'm good
with one. I don't fill out two brackets. I do
one during the NCAA tournament. I'm good with one name.
Speaker 4 (16:44):
If you guys are, I'm good with one. I don't
think me drawing two gives me really that much better
of a chance, because I would say, outside of the
top six if we're doing it based on odds, I
don't know. It's tough to think that, like anyone's gonna
have a chance of beating Chef are some of the
favorites on this course.
Speaker 5 (17:02):
I was more curious about did Tom Brady kiss Robert
Kraft in the mouth and his Hall of Fame induction
into the Patriots Hall of Fame induction more so than
I was interested in who's going to win this US Open.
But so that with that being said, I'd just rather
draw one name out of the hat and and just
(17:22):
or take Kopka, like I'll take Keopka or the linebacker
huh yeah, the linebacker that doesn't look like a linebacker.
I'd rather have him, or or just get one name
out of the hat or talking.
Speaker 4 (17:33):
I got one, I got one.
Speaker 5 (17:35):
Great.
Speaker 4 (17:36):
Before we get into this, what network is airing the
US Open?
Speaker 3 (17:41):
What is it?
Speaker 8 (17:42):
Is?
Speaker 3 (17:42):
This US T, U, S A T and T.
Speaker 4 (17:46):
When did that happen?
Speaker 5 (17:48):
I don't know, know they're going in different directions these
these uh Here's part.
Speaker 4 (17:52):
Of the issue with all these sports being bought up
by different networks is like we have to look at
where to find you. I don't go like that.
Speaker 2 (18:02):
Hey look man, I just want to go back to
the days where you got thirteen channels. All right, that's it,
just two four seven, throw five in there if you want.
Speaker 3 (18:13):
Yeah, that's fine. Is he going to do that? That's fine?
Speaker 2 (18:16):
It was great back in the day. Used to be
TBS watch Braves games on Channel fourteen.
Speaker 4 (18:21):
Who the hell is even doing the commentary for you
for USA?
Speaker 3 (18:24):
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (18:25):
It's on the same network as Monday Night Ross, and
maybe it's like one of their commentators, like.
Speaker 5 (18:32):
Like AJ and Pat. Could you imagine AJ and Pat
calling a golf tournament? I think it would be freaking phenomenal.
It'd be way more into I might watch, I think,
just to hear them. Okay, I think we would be
great too, because Q would actually give some great insight.
I mean, people might be offended by me and they
(18:53):
wouldn't want to pay attention to you, so it might
not be as good.
Speaker 3 (18:56):
I don't know lee.
Speaker 2 (18:57):
Who's called the golf tournament USA right now?
Speaker 9 (19:01):
I'm seeing the announcers on Peacock, which I guess is USA.
Is well, Tom Abbott, Steve Berkowski, Justin Cutcher, Todd Lewis, Oh,
Couch yeah, couch, Yeah, there you go, a bunch of others.
Speaker 5 (19:14):
But just as I assumed, I'm not interested, exactly what
I was thinking, I'm not interested.
Speaker 3 (19:24):
All right, So we want to give this a spin.
Speaker 2 (19:26):
Do we have a live studio band ready to good.
Speaker 3 (19:32):
To hear from good old Kenny Loggins.
Speaker 5 (19:35):
It ain't that that mass.
Speaker 3 (19:36):
Banger after banger?
Speaker 5 (19:39):
All right?
Speaker 3 (19:39):
So we've got the names of the hat. Now whose
hat is this league?
Speaker 9 (19:46):
This is a hat I found in the kitchen that's
been sitting there for like two days. Gave us Loretta
gave it the sniff test, though she says it's clean.
Always got to do the sniff test, all right.
Speaker 5 (20:00):
So mullet is in trouble. I've never smelled a lice
in my life, never never had a smell.
Speaker 3 (20:06):
All right, So we are off and running here. Look,
this is this is our picks for the US.
Speaker 2 (20:12):
Open out of a hat that may or may not
have some sort of a fungus on the brim from
whoever had it.
Speaker 3 (20:19):
So Lee, who wants to Laurine? Do you want to
do the honors?
Speaker 9 (20:23):
Yes?
Speaker 3 (20:23):
And you have to. You have to pronounce the name
on the air as well too.
Speaker 9 (20:30):
I'll go with this one. Whoa Rory McClure, Roy.
Speaker 3 (20:41):
Roy McRoy, they christ I always pick him. I get
him every single tournament. So Lee, you want to go next?
You go next?
Speaker 5 (20:48):
Lee?
Speaker 2 (20:48):
Come on, all right, he's not going next. He is
hobbling over to hand over the hat to everybody here.
Speaker 5 (20:55):
Way to get it.
Speaker 3 (20:57):
Looks like he rode a bike with no seat in
the studio.
Speaker 5 (21:00):
All right, here we go. Okay, see this we got here.
Speaker 3 (21:06):
Ludwig Iberg.
Speaker 2 (21:09):
Okay, yeah, love, hey, love big von Beethoven.
Speaker 3 (21:12):
I'll take that plus two thousand. No shot he wins.
Speaker 2 (21:17):
In fact, in fact, there's a better chance Beethoven wins
this weekend.
Speaker 4 (21:22):
This guy is plus eleven hundred better than yours.
Speaker 2 (21:25):
Yes, yes, yes, yeah, you've got a good Lee's making
his way over to Eddie studio.
Speaker 4 (21:32):
How's it taking this long?
Speaker 3 (21:33):
He's really a lot. You gotta see him walk?
Speaker 5 (21:36):
Come on?
Speaker 4 (21:38):
Can we film this then post it on social media?
Speaker 3 (21:40):
I don't know if he wants to. All right, Eddie Garcia,
who's your pick?
Speaker 4 (21:46):
Xander?
Speaker 3 (21:46):
Safe?
Speaker 5 (21:47):
All right?
Speaker 4 (21:53):
Cheffer?
Speaker 3 (21:53):
Last week he's what is it? Ten to one? Eddie
got plus one thousand? There, that's correct, all right, he's
the second favorite next to us.
Speaker 4 (22:00):
He's the number two in the world, though I'm not mistaken,
right Scotty Cheffler?
Speaker 8 (22:04):
All right?
Speaker 3 (22:05):
All right?
Speaker 8 (22:06):
Lee?
Speaker 3 (22:06):
Do you want to go next to You want LeVar to
reach you out big arm?
Speaker 5 (22:09):
You could go next. I want to go last. I
want you to go. I want to have the chance
to get Scheffler and still there?
Speaker 8 (22:14):
All right?
Speaker 9 (22:15):
Steal, all right, all right, Brady, here we go.
Speaker 3 (22:19):
All right, you got it? I think you got I
got it, he's got it.
Speaker 5 (22:23):
Yep, just Thomas plus Scott's you're part of my people,
now you got you got arrested. Come on part of us.
I need to have you as my guy. Come on,
(22:44):
Scotty Cheffler.
Speaker 4 (22:51):
And we didn't get you to give us a hockey
preview for today. At some point in the show, I'm
ready when you're all right, I got questions for you.
Speaker 3 (22:59):
All right, leave, what do we got?
Speaker 9 (23:00):
All right, I'm reaching in. I'll leave LeVar best for last.
Here we go. I've got oh boy, I got Colin
murricaa he come.
Speaker 4 (23:09):
On, wait, why did you say it?
Speaker 8 (23:11):
Like?
Speaker 5 (23:11):
Come on, I'm still alab Colin Maurica, Okay, now what's
wrong with you?
Speaker 8 (23:16):
Do?
Speaker 4 (23:18):
Just say Colin Morikawa.
Speaker 9 (23:21):
Colin marie Kawa.
Speaker 5 (23:23):
That's what he said.
Speaker 9 (23:25):
You're not ordering food.
Speaker 4 (23:28):
You have to talk fast and do it like that?
You know?
Speaker 5 (23:32):
Is that the nuts you sprinkle on tapa top of
a cupcake?
Speaker 2 (23:38):
So so so longest arm last? Here goes LeVar?
Speaker 5 (23:42):
Come on, all right, here we go over here, come on, Scotty.
Speaker 9 (23:48):
Saying with the last one, here we go.
Speaker 3 (23:53):
You know who it is?
Speaker 5 (23:54):
Who is it?
Speaker 9 (23:55):
Broad shoulders? Mister Brooks. Koepka got it, he got it.
Speaker 8 (24:00):
It was.
Speaker 3 (24:04):
Brooks all right.
Speaker 2 (24:08):
Yeah, by the way, good to see Brooks taking time
away from drinking at Panthers games to go to a
golf tournament.
Speaker 5 (24:18):
He relax, brou relax, that's my guy.
Speaker 3 (24:21):
They showed him.
Speaker 5 (24:22):
Hey, relax, that's my guy.
Speaker 2 (24:23):
He was crippled at a Panthers game last year. But hey,
somebody's got to Was he on the sideline? Did he
have a uniform on a box Florida Panthers?
Speaker 4 (24:34):
I would, I would discuss. Looked like he had, Uh,
I don't know, gonna be eyes were Yeah.
Speaker 2 (24:45):
So here's the controversy, because, of course this suld happened
to us. We were drawing names out of the hat
for the US Open, and nobody picked Scottie Scheffler, who's
the odds on favorite to win the tournament. Golfer on
the planet.
Speaker 4 (25:01):
Right, this is my nightmare.
Speaker 2 (25:03):
Apparently the reason why nobody picked Scotty Scheffler because the YEA, well, no,
the problem wasn't Lee Lorena got a little bit too
over zealous when she took her name, and she also
had Scotty Scheffler laying on the desk next to her.
So we were basically picking from not the best bunch
(25:25):
and the best batch when we were drawing names.
Speaker 5 (25:27):
I don't think that's funny, Lorena, So I don't even
feel like that's funny.
Speaker 9 (25:31):
Default I get both names.
Speaker 4 (25:34):
That's not how it works. I understand. I understand why
you would think that way, but that's not how it works.
Speaker 5 (25:41):
I mean, stole my opportunity away from it. I was
manifesting Scotti Scheffler, and I didn't even have a fair opportunity.
I don't I don't find what you did to be lee.
Speaker 3 (25:54):
You're the commissioner. What do we do here?
Speaker 5 (25:57):
Do think I should get Scotty Scheffler?
Speaker 4 (26:00):
How do you guys just now recognize this? How is
this not recognized sooner?
Speaker 5 (26:03):
Well?
Speaker 9 (26:03):
I looked through the hat afterwards. I was like, Oh,
it's funny that nobody picked Scotty Scheffler. I like, who's left?
I was like, we got Victor Hovlin, We've got Tommy Fleetwood,
we got Bryson to Shamba. I was but I was like,
did Eddie pick Scotty? I was asking because I couldn't
quite hear him because I was waddling around.
Speaker 5 (26:20):
He didn't. Yeah, no, he did not, and I was like,
what happened to Scotty?
Speaker 9 (26:25):
And I look over and sitting right next to Lorena's
Scotty Scheffler's name on the.
Speaker 3 (26:31):
Desk that tracks that's I am a Paul Dog haunts.
Speaker 4 (26:39):
Yeah, it's so, you know the combination of Lee and
Lorena would usually give us something.
Speaker 2 (26:45):
Like this, Rena, Yeah, it's you know it's it's it's originate.
Speaker 3 (26:51):
So I.
Speaker 2 (26:54):
So, uh, Lee, you're the commission What do we do?
Do we just wear it? We we eat what we
got and that's and that's that? Or does Lorraina get
Scottie Scheffler too? Like what do you think here?
Speaker 9 (27:07):
We could you can throw Lorena a bone and give
her some Scotty Scheffler.
Speaker 3 (27:12):
We can do two.
Speaker 9 (27:13):
We can do two each. We get throw other names
in there we could throw Let me tell you something.
We could throw Tiger Woods in here and then make
it up.
Speaker 5 (27:19):
Let me take I quit, I quit, I'm out the
top of the let the moment he is, I don't
know that he's one. He parted it, but yeah, I'm
out on Tiger.
Speaker 2 (27:33):
But you think they just showed Phil Michelson. You think, uh,
you think Phil's got money on this event or what
I'm just asking the question here, all right, I feel like.
Speaker 4 (27:46):
You know, I don't think it's fair. You're it's fun
of a guy for his past gambling transgressions.
Speaker 2 (27:51):
So now it's not the time to be judgmental. I'm
at just simply asking a question, that's all. I just
want to know what, you know, what his action looks like.
So out that's where we're at. So the bars quit
and Lareina just swiped two names instead of one.
Speaker 3 (28:06):
Unbelievable.
Speaker 1 (28:08):
Be sure to catch live editions of Two Pros and
a Cup of Joe with Brady Quinn, LeVar Errington, and
Jonas Knox weekdays at six a m. Eastern three am Pacific.
Speaker 2 (28:18):
Right now, Albert Breer is in. He is the senior
NFL reporter and lead content strategist at.
Speaker 3 (28:24):
The m m QB.
Speaker 2 (28:25):
You can get him on Twitter at Albert Breer and
apparently an NBA prognosticator because he kind of played out
how the series was going to go between the Seas
and the MAVs.
Speaker 3 (28:34):
AB what's happening?
Speaker 4 (28:35):
Good morning?
Speaker 8 (28:40):
We had to go there? Are we talking about Luca's
defense here?
Speaker 3 (28:46):
Luca is getting it? Uh?
Speaker 8 (28:49):
I actually I think I think, I think I said
Celtics in five, so I may have underestimated them.
Speaker 2 (28:54):
Yeah, well, it's not looking good for the Mavericks. It's
not looking good for concerned Jets fans who are trying
to figure out what the hell was going on with
Aaron Rodgers and Robert.
Speaker 3 (29:04):
Salah, Nathaniel Hackett.
Speaker 2 (29:07):
Nathaniel Hackett uh not calling plays during the two minute offense?
What is happening with the Jets? What's going on there?
And more importantly, Where's Rogers? We threw out some guesses.
Brady said, hot air balloon, ride LeVar said, graduation, I said,
psychedelic drugs. What is your guess as to where Rogers is?
Speaker 8 (29:28):
What could it be a combination of all those things,
maybe like a graduation on a hot air balloon while
on psychedelic drugs. I guess we can't rule anything out right. Yeah,
Like here's like, I'll tell you what I know, and
then when I think about the situation, what I know
is that this was communicated to the Jets, so you
(29:51):
know they did go through the proper channels and everything else,
and that you know, my understanding was, I mean, what.
Speaker 4 (30:01):
Are the proper channels, like like Aaron Rodgers can't, I
mean Albert Aaron Rodgers can't just call Robert sol and say, hey,
I have this personal matter of this thing going on
and that's it, Like what channels.
Speaker 8 (30:11):
I'm saying, like like it's just as far as like okay,
like how are we going to handle this and all that,
like now and and and you know, like I said,
like Brady, it's just it's all right, like I'm not
going to be able to be there this week? How
do we handle this? And you know, they explain to
Aaron like this is why we have to have this
as a non excused absence, which I think is obvious,
(30:33):
which to me is like if you're not going to
allow it for any of the other eighty nine guys
on the team, If that sort of thing came up
and you wouldn't allow it for the other eight and
you guys in the team, and you would find any
of those eighty nine guys for you know, for missing
the mini camps, then you have to find Aaron too.
And you know, I my understanding is that there wasn't
(30:54):
a lot of pushback from Aaron on that, like it's
fine if it was not excused. If you have to
do it that way. Now, Like my my bigger, broader
question is just the handling of it, right, Like they
could have gotten ahead of this and they could have
told the world about this two weeks ago, three weeks ago,
four weeks ago, whatever it was. They could have let
(31:14):
everybody know like, hey, look like this is gonna you know,
we're going to do this a little bit differently, and
you know quarterback's not going to be there for mini camp,
which is you know, which is is not insignificant of course,
because that changes the dynamic for everybody else in the
opposite puddle.
Speaker 4 (31:31):
Albert, can you just get to the punch, like, like,
where's he at? Because because the reality is, if this
is something that I think they had communicated where he was,
whether people like it or not, they would at least
be like, oh okay, Like there's there'd be a group
of people who say that's justified. It's it's what he
wants to do, or it's a personal matter, we need
to let him do that. There's others that will probably
still criticize him because he's Aaron Rodgers and people just
(31:52):
do that. Either way. It feels like the secrecy of
his absence is what is probably most have some out there.
Speaker 8 (32:00):
I think that that's a fair assessment of it. And
you know what I would tell you, Brady that I've
heard consistently from different people on this is like that
it's sort of the it's the sort of thing that
you would expect from him, I guess on brand, as
the kids would say, right like, like I I don't
have a nail down to the point where I can
(32:21):
say exactly what I what, you know, what I've heard
it is, but I do think, you know, I think
eventually it'll probably get out and you know, I think
and I think Aaron's the way Aaron looks at this,
and you know, maybe the way that Jesslica two is.
Like Aaron barely showed up for anything the last few
years with Attackers, right he was away from the team's
(32:45):
offseason program. Obviously that was a big part in and
how they developed Jordan Love over those years, but he
wasn't around a lot like the last five six years
in Green Bay. He would show up with the mini camp,
but other than that, like you wouldn't see him much
at the team facility. And you know, now he's around
almost the entire offseason program, right with the Jets the
(33:06):
last two years he has been. And I think his
argument for the whole thing would be, well, what difference
does it make if I want to take a week
off during the off season program and it just happens
to be during this week rather than two or three
weeks ago, Well, then what difference does that make? Right? Like?
That would be his argument, I think, you know, on
the flip side of it, now, my argument counter to
(33:27):
that would be, well, if you're the Jets, you know,
I mean, why don't you just move your mini camp up? Right? Like,
why don't you have your mini camp last week? And
then you have a couple of OTAs this week? And
if he's not there, it's it's really not that big
a deal at all, right, in every in every in
every way, in every way, like and sorry lebar, but
like in every way, in every way. I think the
(33:51):
problem here is this is becoming a very big deal
because of the handling of it. Maybe not because of
what it actually is.
Speaker 5 (33:59):
It is because of handling of it. But it's his job.
That's that's why he should be there. And to me,
like like Brady said, why not get ahead of it
and say it before you get to here and say
it's an unexcused absence. He's going to go through it.
The question I have is.
Speaker 8 (34:15):
Well, I'm here's the other thing, LeVar. The other thing too,
like what you just said, what you just said. I
think an important part of that is like he sort
of left Robert sala on Joe Douglas to explain it, right,
you know what I mean? Like I like it would
be it would probably be better if it was coming
from him rather than than than the coach and you know,
the team having to having to handle it on their
(34:36):
own while well he's off and God does where can you.
Speaker 3 (34:39):
Give us like in the ballpark what it is?
Speaker 8 (34:43):
Like?
Speaker 2 (34:43):
Like what are we talking about here, like in the
vicinity of what you think it might be where he's at,
Like is it like h just.
Speaker 4 (34:50):
Smoking pat in the and these mountains or something.
Speaker 8 (34:55):
I don't think it's a business focus event like I
would say that. I I think it's I think it's
something like it sounds to me like it's something that's
been on this calendar for a while, and you know
they say it's a you know it's a personal event.
You know there's an event you know, personally important to
him or whatever. I don't know this is as much
(35:16):
to do with football.
Speaker 3 (35:17):
But like a music festival or something like that.
Speaker 4 (35:20):
I mean, it's just natural part of it.
Speaker 8 (35:22):
That would be good. What like there's like a coach
Ella happening in another country or something like that that
we're thinking.
Speaker 3 (35:27):
I don't know, I'm just thinking, could there be something.
Speaker 5 (35:30):
Like that going on?
Speaker 8 (35:30):
Right? Yeah? I did have I did have a I
did get a lot of like you know, when the
initial news came out, there were a lot of good responses.
I think the winner might have been like an RFK
fundraiser that was pretty good.
Speaker 5 (35:43):
I'm not I.
Speaker 4 (35:46):
I think we could come up with better ones than that.
Speaker 5 (35:49):
I'm not high on the.
Speaker 10 (35:50):
Jets, well, the the Ayahous, you know, like the retreat,
like that, there was the dark the second coming of
the there's the second version of the Darkness.
Speaker 8 (36:01):
Guests out there.
Speaker 4 (36:02):
That has to be what it is, right.
Speaker 8 (36:08):
Yeah, I mean like I think it's that would be
that would probably be my guess would be somewhere in
that ball.
Speaker 5 (36:14):
Which means ridiculous, which means ridiculous. Listen, I'm not high.
I've made this point to the Fellas. I'm not high
on the Jets and I'm not high on Aaron Rodgers
with the Jets. How how much does this play a part?
And if it meets I mean not me saying it,
but if this team doesn't get off to a good start,
(36:35):
abe there there has to be the conversation of this.
This experiment has definitely run its course, and we will
refer back to moments like this in terms of why
it didn't work out. I mean, don't shouldn't Aaron Rodgers
be a little bit more cognizant of the fact that
he hasn't played enough football for the Jets to be
(36:58):
in a situation where he would handle the situation that
would cause and create this type of aritis.
Speaker 8 (37:05):
He hasn't played any football for the Jet stag. I mean,
like and that's the part like this, I mean, he's
been a story for the Jets, you know, for for
everything but football until this point. Right, So yeah, I
mean I I I the payoff has to come for
them now, and you know that. The crazy thing is
(37:27):
it really does feel like they're in this. I mean
like this, this, this, there's this golden opportunity in front
of them. I mean, look, Buffalo had to reset their
roster in a lot of ways right, Like, so now
Jordan Ployer's gone, Michaeh Hyde has gone to Davis White
has gone, Stefan Diggs is gone, Mitch Morris has gone.
(37:47):
Like the Bills are turning over the roster. The Dolphins
did some similar things and offloading some guys to get
ready to pay Tua and letting Christian Wilkins go and
cutting jeronn Baker and Zavian Howard, you know, like they
that division like looks like it's right there for the
taking to the Jets the point where they might be
able to win enough games to get a really high seed,
you know, and then you've got Aaron Rodgers in a
(38:09):
playoff setting and all right, like you know, like let's
see what happens, you know. So to me, like that's
the crazy thing about it is that there's every reason
for everybody in that building to be really locked in
because there is this golden opportunity right there in front
of them. And you know, I I think that the
Jet the Jets were pushed back on all of this
(38:30):
by saying, well, we've had a really good spring to
this point and this is just one week out of
the spring. But you know, again, like this is this
is making a story. This is this is like almost
like a story was generated when they really didn't need
to be one, and it's not beneficial to the team.
Speaker 4 (38:46):
I mean, if they win this season, no one's going
to remember this, No one's.
Speaker 8 (38:49):
Going to care rights.
Speaker 4 (38:50):
But if they don't point it is going to be
one of the first things they point to as part
of the reason why, or you know whatever.
Speaker 5 (38:58):
The narrative is.
Speaker 8 (38:59):
Yeah, yeah, I mean that that and that's that's the
way it always goes, right, Like, is that if they
have a bad September, everybody's me pointing back to this
and you know football anymore, And if Aaron throws, you know,
for sixteen touchdowns and two interceptions in September, then no
one's going to remember this ever happened. That's just that's
(39:20):
just the way the media works, right guys.
Speaker 3 (39:22):
Albert Brier joining us here on Fox Sports Radio. ABE.
Speaker 2 (39:25):
We were talking earlier about Sam Darnold. Kevin O'Connell says
he's going to get the first looks as starter when
they get to training camp next month. For you, which
is the most interesting quarterback battle to watch for his
training camp approaches.
Speaker 8 (39:43):
That that one's that one's a good one because you know,
I think the Vikings since they have a little bit
more in Sam than than some people on the outside do.
And you know, I I think I brought this up
with you guys before, but you go back and watch,
and I know it's garbage time right like. But it
was the end of the the Niners Ravens game and
(40:04):
the Niners are getting blown out and Sam Donald gets
in the game and this is in a Kyle Shanahan
offense with with the Niners skill players out there with them,
with the Niners offensive line out there with them, and
you just see how fast he was playing, and it
almost looked like Kyle had rewired him a little bit, right.
And so he goes to Minnesota now and the bones
(40:26):
of Kevin's offensive it's Kyle's offense, right, So he's going
to get to go there, And is there an opportunity
to really resurrect his career? You know, I just from
having talked to people there, Yes, Sam's looked pretty good.
Now is it going to translate into the game field,
We'll see. You know, Sam Donald's looked good and practiced before.
This isn't the first time that's happened. But you know,
(40:49):
there's a very real there's a very real optimism around SAMs.
So JJ is gonna have to go out and win
the job. And you know, on top of that, I
know Kevin's had a very detailed as a very very detailed,
like you know, kind of set set of checkpoints that
he wants j to hit before he's going to put
him out there on the field. So I think that
(41:09):
one's going to be, you know, very very interesting. I'm
just thinking of other ones across the lead. Of course,
everything you're paying attention in Atlanta, but I don't think
that's really a competition. And then Denver to me is fascinating.
You know, you've got you know, Zach Wilson, Chritt Sidham
and and and obviously bon Knicks out there, and Bo
Nicks started over sixty games in college. So if there's
(41:30):
anybody who should be ready to go out there and
play in an NFL game among the quarterbacks who are
trapted in the first round, it should be Bo Nicks.
I'm gonna be fascinated to see what happens in Denver's
quarterback battle too, So those would be the two. Really,
I think Denver Minnesota are probably the two most interesting ones.
Speaker 4 (41:49):
Not thinking ahead over sales, but you mentioned Denver. I'm
just curious if things don't work out for them this year,
whether it's not Nicks or Zach Wilson, whoever juristed. I'm
you know, how much of the blame is gonna be
put on Sean paid Like what's that seat look like
there in Denver?
Speaker 8 (42:03):
Yeah? I think a lot of it, Brady, comes down to,
you know, like is the team ascending at the end
of the year. I think if if you look at
the way the last two years have been handled, you know,
really there's been almost a repudiation of like the the
core that was in place before and the amount of
guys that have been offloaded, you know, from Bradley Chubb,
(42:24):
the Jerry Judy, you know, like a lot of the
Justin Simmons has gone now. So a lot of guys
that that team was built around over the last over
the last five years are are are gone now, you know.
And a lot of the big box decisions were made
by Sean Payton. So I don't think I don't think
anybody's under the illusion that Denver is gonna win eleven
(42:46):
or twelve games this year. But you know, I think
what you would like to see is the team is
ascending at the end of the year, that has young
players that are that are making places for them and
you know, and it's not a situation where the team
is founder and Jerry Judy looks great in Cleveland and
Bradley Chubb's come off the injury strong in Miami. You know, Like,
(43:07):
I think, really it's going to be what the team
looks like in December. I think we all expect that
they're going to have some bumps early on, But how
they finish the year and how they're going into twenty
twenty five, I think it's going to be the key.
And then, of course, I mean I think seeing how
Russell Wilson plays in Pittsburgh too, whether he's able to
hold onto the job there, what all that looks like
versus how the Denver quarterbacks look is probably going to
be a part of the equation too.
Speaker 2 (43:28):
Get him on Twitter or ex at. Albert Breers, senior
NFL reporter at the MMQB, lead content strategist as well.
AB We appreciate it, enjoy the weekend. We'll do it
again next week.
Speaker 8 (43:39):
Awesome. Any retreats coming up for you? Guys.
Speaker 3 (43:42):
No, I don't believe so.
Speaker 4 (43:44):
No, We've got this fictitious character that usually comes on
in live bed Jesus Albret and places a bet when
this live sporting events going. I'd like the US Open.
But he's he's been chicken of late because he's lost
so many of the bets he's placed on air with us.
So we thought maybe he'd show up for the last segment.
Apparently it's not happening today.
Speaker 8 (44:05):
Wow, that's bad. That's too bad.
Speaker 3 (44:10):
Then, I'm sorry you're the phone cut out?
Speaker 5 (44:13):
What did you say?
Speaker 8 (44:14):
I can I take Scheffler for this weekend?
Speaker 5 (44:17):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (44:17):
Actually you can because we had a snap foo with
when we were picking. When we were picking people, as
far as who we're gonna place.
Speaker 3 (44:24):
Our bet, you know I got. We'll do that, hey Breer.
Speaker 2 (44:27):
We we dropped the names out of a hate for
US Open.
Speaker 3 (44:31):
Albert Breer gets Scott there is, so there we go.
Speaker 2 (44:35):
Put Albert Brier on the list. Ab Thanks man. We'll
do it again next week.
Speaker 8 (44:40):
Thanks guys,
