Speaker 1 (00:01):
It is the best of two pros and a couple
Joe with Lamar Airings and Brady Quinn and Jonas Knox
on Box Radio.
Speaker 2 (00:14):
Nice little shootout last night, Yeah it was. And the
Brady Quinn Bowl. That was fun between the Browns and
the Broncos.
Speaker 3 (00:21):
That was a good time, man, just slanging it.
Speaker 4 (00:25):
What I keep coming away Impressed with some of the
throws bo Nicks Max, I mean Jamis Jamis has been
in the league for a while, so but it wasn't
it wasn't.
Speaker 3 (00:35):
I mean it was Jared Judy Bowl. So Jerry Judy
go off a little bit too.
Speaker 2 (00:40):
Yeah, the the ninety three yard touchdown throw and then
the very next play the touchdown of Jerry Judy.
Speaker 3 (00:46):
That was.
Speaker 5 (00:47):
That was fun to watch last night. And Joekull be
getting after it too. You know it's I know, listen,
bow Knicks. He might have he may have taken the
lead for for Rookie of the Year. I mean, I
think I think Washington and Denver have the same record
at this point, or maybe Washington might be one better.
Speaker 3 (01:08):
It's very close.
Speaker 5 (01:10):
Bow Knicks is showing, uh the moxie and and the
resilience and and just the like you know, the the
control that that a vet would show. I mean, he
looks like a vet out there, and he looks really good.
My point, my major, my major takeaway from the game
outside of the Denver Broncos was how much better a
(01:34):
position with this Browns team had been if they had
did just what I had said earlier on in the
year and just started Jameis Winston. That's that's why I was.
I mean, I try to keep it straight face because
I'm taking a shot. I've tried to remember said that.
You remember when I made that Bowl proclamation, like why
isn't Jamis Winston starting in this league? And the fact
(01:56):
that they have him on that roster, and and I
know you got the gazillion dollar the quarter billion dollar
man on your team, but why aren't they starting Jamis Winston?
Like or the first moment it goes wrong, like when
they reported we're not afraid to start Jamis?
Speaker 3 (02:13):
Why did they not?
Speaker 5 (02:14):
They punted on the season hoping that they could get
something that I believe they had on the bench the
entire time. And that is credit to Cue because he
did say it. That was my takeaway. This was not
this was two evenly matched teams. And I believe Denver
came out on top. And listen, this is a team
(02:35):
that's fighting for a playoff spot right now and could
be a dangerous team because they have a quarterback that
can run the offense the way that Sean Payton wants
his offenses to be ran, and they play defense on.
Speaker 3 (02:48):
The other side of it.
Speaker 5 (02:49):
You have a complete team, and you saw a complete
team last night. What's sad is these are actually considered
to be. One team is trying to prove that they're
not an average team that's on the come up. The
other team is just trying to salvage the season. But
nonetheless it looked like a team that was trying to
salvage the season. I think they're a better team if
(03:11):
Jameis Winston is the starter, much sooner than what he was.
Speaker 3 (03:15):
I don't doubt that.
Speaker 4 (03:16):
I think the tough thing for Browns fans is this
is two years in a row where you've seen quarterbacks
besides Deshaun Watson who playing yeah a lot of money,
operate better within the system, operate better for your team. Yeah,
I mean, like, like, what do you do? It's so
punitive to try to move on from him. You can
(03:37):
try to trade him. But like I would say, guys
like Kirk Cousins who are under contract and maybe somebody
float around trading him from Atlanta, so Michael Panks can
go play Aaron.
Speaker 3 (03:50):
Rodgers who's under contract.
Speaker 4 (03:51):
Believe he has a no trade clause though, so you'd
have to agree to it to waive that clause.
Speaker 3 (03:55):
Either way, I'm not even sure he would.
Speaker 4 (03:56):
Want to do that. There's a list of quarterbacks too.
Speaker 3 (04:00):
You're gonna get your ass out of here.
Speaker 5 (04:03):
I know you got a no trade clause, but listen,
we're gonna burn your ass up if you stay.
Speaker 4 (04:06):
Maybe maybe Woody Johnson just threats some with the jabs
like take the.
Speaker 3 (04:10):
Chaba, Hey Ann Rogers, you're gonna get your ass up at.
Speaker 2 (04:13):
It the building you want that, Max, We'll get your
ass boosted too on the way out.
Speaker 3 (04:18):
But I mean, you guys get my point, like where
are these guys gonna go?
Speaker 4 (04:23):
And the truth of the matter is it's gonna hurt
you in your your salary cap for least next year,
if not the next two. And every quarterback they've put
in has been better than what we've seen from Watson.
Speaker 3 (04:37):
So I don't know, Like I said, I've been a
big Jameis Winston fan. Uh, even before this year.
Speaker 4 (04:44):
You know, I think you go back to that year
in Tampa where he throws thirty interceptions. A lot of
people write them off, and if you watch the film,
you get a much better sense. For Hey, that look
like a miscommunication. To look at the guys are on
the same page. Hey, that's not on Jamis.
Speaker 3 (04:59):
Now.
Speaker 4 (04:59):
I'm not saying he didn't throw fifteen or sixteen of
those picks that were on him, which is a lot,
but the thirty, it's like it was a little bit
outlandish when everyone kind of throws it on top of
him and act like he was he was solely responsible.
Speaker 3 (05:14):
For all of that.
Speaker 4 (05:16):
It just wasn't the case. He's he's been a good
quarterback in my eyes. He just needed to clean up
some of those things. And he's look last night, you know,
it's tough because the Bonito pick six, it's like, I
don't know that he even saw him. The way the
Cleveland receivers were stacked. Probably thought, I remember if it
(05:36):
was a Joko who is targeting, but he kind of
just stepped right in front of him.
Speaker 3 (05:39):
You know, it would have helped it.
Speaker 4 (05:40):
The Cleveland and pass catcher like stepped up a little bit,
and then even the other pick six, It's like, it's tough, man,
it's tough.
Speaker 3 (05:49):
And he missed. He missed some wide open throws too.
You know.
Speaker 4 (05:52):
He had Judy earlier in the game on a post
that I mean, it doesn't get much more wide open
than that, and and he airmailed it.
Speaker 3 (05:59):
So yeah, he did.
Speaker 4 (06:00):
He didn't play perfect, but he definitely he made Yeah,
he did. This offense has been better with him than
it would have been with Sean Watson.
Speaker 2 (06:11):
No, man, listen, we all love Jameis Winston and uh.
Jameis Winston Following the game, was very critical of himself
and also gave an impassioned speech to the Lord.
Speaker 6 (06:27):
This was a tough one man in front of the
whole world, from the whole world. I messed it up
for us and from the whole our world. But I'm
gonna continue to get better. We're gonna put this one
behind us, and uh and Lord willing we go to
Pittsburgh and finished strong.
Speaker 3 (06:43):
Finish.
Speaker 6 (06:43):
It's about finishing in times like this, you know. That's
it's it's the opportunity to continue to go from the
Lord even through the toughest circumstances.
Speaker 3 (06:55):
I know him better than this. I know.
Speaker 6 (06:57):
I'm like, I'm just praying for the Lord to deliver
me from pick sixes. Like it's just it's not me,
Like phenomenal game offense, do some great things, but I
missed it up.
Speaker 4 (07:13):
You know what I love about him and I've always
felt this way. And I don't mean to get into
like a spiritual realm, but it's like, do you think
God cares that much about.
Speaker 3 (07:25):
I'm about to say?
Speaker 5 (07:26):
You know, I know there's a lot of prayers at
Saint Jude or you know, somewhere around the world or
something to that effect.
Speaker 3 (07:33):
You know, like, what is Jameis Winston's pick sixes ranked?
Speaker 5 (07:37):
I'm just not sure Jesus is coming to save you
on that one. I would take hard no on that one.
That's a note for me though.
Speaker 2 (07:44):
What he's getting the Eucharist is he like, wait, can
I just hold off on this? Like, no pick sixes
next one? Jesus, can I can I trade this out?
Please deliver men.
Speaker 3 (07:54):
You deliver me from the heighties. I knowing better than this.
Speaker 6 (07:58):
I know I'm I'm just praying for the Lord to
deliver me from pig sixes.
Speaker 3 (08:06):
He's wild, bro. I just.
Speaker 5 (08:14):
I just there's no way in the trail he is
the best bro. I'm sorry, and he's like at some
point there was the question is this dude being serious?
He's one hundred serious.
Speaker 3 (08:28):
I don't know. I'm gonna tell you.
Speaker 5 (08:31):
I'm gonna tell you he's one hundred percent serious, man.
And what's cool about it is it seems like the
energy call me crazy, the energy was different for this team,
and it's like he's probably the catalyst for it. He's
one of those guys. He's gonna give you that that
that energy, just high positivity.
Speaker 3 (08:52):
And once you get patched, because you could.
Speaker 5 (08:54):
Be one of those guys that like like right out
the gate, right out the gate, right off the bat,
you get it and you digging right. Then there's the
other ones that's like, bruh, dude is foolish man, Like
this is like he's a clown whatever. And then they're
like wait, wait a second, wait, I think I banged
with him, Like I think I'm gonna go to war
with this. Wait, Like James is a good dude, Like hey, James, here,
(09:19):
I got I bought you a biscuit sandwich. Man, Like here,
Friday Friday Sam breakfast sandwiches.
Speaker 3 (09:24):
I got you one. I hope you liked it. Like
he grows on you, man.
Speaker 5 (09:27):
And I'll tell you what Cleveland needed, a feel good
story and somebody that could rally them together.
Speaker 3 (09:35):
And you know what that's a little late, I mean
better late than never.
Speaker 2 (09:39):
You know, He's the only reason I would entertain the
thought of watching the nd season Hard Knocks. I couldn't
care less about Hard Knocks. But you guys saw North.
Speaker 5 (09:50):
You saw where he hugged the groundskeepers and talked about
how awesome it was that they took care to feel
like bruh. And in business, they teach you like learning
from the ground up and appreciate those who do the
jobs that are are just not you know, deliver me
from Deliver me, Lord Jesus, if you're listening.
Speaker 2 (10:12):
He like, there's a guy who's probably crawled to the
front of a church, walked inside and gotten down at
his knees, had five days to live, cure my substance
abuse issue.
Speaker 3 (10:25):
I'll do, Jesus. Hold on asking hold on. The game
is on right now.
Speaker 5 (10:29):
James is asking me to deliver them from a pick
sick Jesus like a norm give it a rest.
Speaker 3 (10:34):
They're in the red zone, all right, Hey, that stuff
going on here? Hey buddy, what happened to that guy
that was praying to me over there? He died?
Speaker 5 (10:43):
Jesus, he just you were paying attention to Jamis at
the moment, you know, he.
Speaker 3 (10:50):
Walked into traffic, jameismiss Jerry.
Speaker 2 (10:52):
Judy in the back of the end zone and now
their head the other way. So I have for the
entire time that we've heard Jameis Winston quotes, I'm like,
there's no way this is real. Like he's trying not
to laugh when he's saying this. You know, you want
to know what convinced me. Did you see the reaction
of his former teammates in New Orleans when they saw
(11:14):
him after the game when the Browns everybody loves the guy.
You can't fake that. They all legitimately love named Sean
Payton seeing him last year.
Speaker 3 (11:24):
Yeah, so it's he's a he's a treasure, but man,
genuine man.
Speaker 5 (11:30):
But that is funny as hell because it's just so
it's so different, That's all. That's how I put it.
But not to be buried, not to bury the lead.
The Denver Broncos they're legit. I ain't gonna put them
in great. I'm not gonna put them in the category
of great. But Sean Peyton has his man again. Every
(11:52):
week I say it more and more. He pulled a
fast one. He pulled the fastest one in this past dragon.
Because I'm gonna tell you what bo Nicks is, and
I'm gonna say it confidently, even though I'm a big
I'm a big I'm a big Jayson Daniels.
Speaker 3 (12:08):
Fans, you've got on board. Finally Bro's taking you over.
I don't. I mean, I watched watched him last night. Obviously,
I don't.
Speaker 5 (12:15):
I don't get a chance to watch all the games,
and I haven't really been interested enough to really really
get into the Broncos other than surface surface level of it,
but just really taking a look at, you know, how
he looks over the defenses, how he communicates with with
the lineman, his control and as as a leader of
the offense, his his poise. I mean, he just he
(12:37):
exemplified what you would want a quarterback to look like.
And that's not just saying because he's you know, oh,
he looks good for a rookie. He looks as though
he settled in and he's comfortable. I always say I
used to say this to to the rookie quarterbacks that
come in. If you can get comfortable with being uncomfortable
with coverages and just trust that your timing is going
(12:59):
to be your timing, you'll be a dope dude in
this league. Like, You'll be a dope dude because you
gotta trust it. Like and it's scary because if you
don't trust it, that split second of indecision could be
the reason why it's a pass breakup or could be a.
Speaker 3 (13:14):
Be a pick.
Speaker 5 (13:15):
This kid looks like it's like, I'm okay, I'm okay
with making the throw. I'm gonna trust that this is
what we worked on. This is this is the flow
of it, this is the rhythm of it. I'm gonna
go through my progressions and he delivers the ball. I mean,
good for him, and good for it for the Broncos
they could. I mean, if it's not this year, you
better watch out. The AFC West is going to be
(13:39):
a dog again. Kansas City better figure it out because
that team right down the street from here, Tom Chargers,
They're going to be a really good team.
Speaker 3 (13:46):
Man.
Speaker 5 (13:47):
I don't know if it's this year with those two
with Denver and the Chargers, but they're gonna be some
They're going to be really good teams moving forward.
Speaker 4 (13:54):
I think what stands out the most to me, it's
not Boonicke.
Speaker 3 (13:58):
It's not their offense, it's their defense.
Speaker 4 (14:00):
I mean, this is a defense that gave up seventy
over seventy points to the Dulphs Miami last year. They
were awful, absolutely awful. They are a top five defense.
Now they lead the league at least in sacks going
into you know, this past week.
Speaker 3 (14:17):
I mean, it is a.
Speaker 4 (14:18):
Dramatic change, and I would say they're doing it without
having to have a superstar.
Speaker 3 (14:25):
And they talked a little bit about it last night.
Like the last time.
Speaker 4 (14:29):
This team was able to lead the league in sacks,
you'd have to go back to the Von Miller probably
Chubb years. It was like nine years ago, like twenty
sixteen or something like that. I mean, it's been a
dramatic transformation from where they were last year. And all
credit to Sean Payton not getting rid of Vans Joseph.
I mean there was times, I mean, how like I
(14:49):
was watching the defense going how can you how can
you hang onto this, like how can you keep you know,
that person in that position. As much as they struggled,
now the defense got better live year as they started
to move off for some of the veteran pieces. But
this was a team that struggled mightily and improved. But
you had to really pay attention. You had to kind
(15:09):
of see the riding on the wall to understand they
were going to be better this year, and now they're
one of the best in the NFL. So to me
that the thing that stands out about this team is
the dramatic transformation or how bad they were defensively into
what they've been this year, which is honestly. I mean,
I know last night was a little bit of a shootout,
but it's kept the big games.
Speaker 3 (15:29):
It won't last night. They won them. Last night's game, yeah,
definitely did.
Speaker 2 (15:33):
And all this without Alex Singleton thousand Oaks high Alum,
thousand oaks. That's right, the HATO five up top up
top yeah baby, yeah, all.
Speaker 3 (15:46):
Right, yeah, big time. Yeah. Lord delivered me.
Speaker 5 (15:53):
Jesus listening all them, I just need to pray that
today Jamus Winston is delivered from them. Pick six is
that he's throwing Lord off. I just asked you to
touch him today. Now, can y'all throw a little bit
(16:15):
offering in that plate?
Speaker 3 (16:16):
All right? Past the plate? Past the plate. By the way,
Trey Akman was soft time.
Speaker 2 (16:22):
He was going in on Deshaun Watson last night and.
Speaker 5 (16:26):
They were throwing up the comparisons the charts, how saw
Watts is like what one in six over the time
that whatever, and then Jamis is two and two and two.
Now he's like two and three. But he ain't too
far off right now. Yeah, but man, that people people
(16:47):
are trying. I mean, maybe he's the main person, but
isn't isn't dirt kind of going on? Is is he
in the casket? I mean it's an expensive casket. Who
the oh be people throwing dirt on him? The dirt
is coming on him now, I don't know if it's
the dirt that's coming on them more them just looking
(17:08):
identifying the body going cold. But it's it don't look good.
Speaker 3 (17:12):
Well if he's there, you know he's face down. That's
for sures on. Uh what do you mean by.
Speaker 2 (17:18):
But it is two pros and a cup of Joe
Fox Sports? You got to get there, Brady Quinn Jonas,
we're deep up in there sports massages.
Speaker 1 (17:30):
Be sure to catch live editions of Two Pros and
a Cup of Joe with Brady Quinn, LeVar Arrington and
Jonas Knox weekdays at six am Eastern three am Pacific
on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 3 (17:44):
There's a circus in the NFL.
Speaker 2 (17:46):
I mean, the Jets have theirs, you know, the Jaguars
have been a bit of a circus obviously, the Cowboys
and Giants, but step right up, step right up, the
Chicago Bears, the clown show of the NFC North.
Speaker 3 (17:58):
When everybody else is just out the.
Speaker 2 (18:00):
Winning games and going to the playoffs, they're firing coaches.
They're firing coaches after they hold press conferences announcing they're
getting ready for the next week. It's just the whole
things were.
Speaker 3 (18:12):
Well, who's in charge of it all? Well, that would
be Kevin Warren.
Speaker 2 (18:15):
Kevin Warren, your old buddy from the Big Ten, who
took over the job. He was brought in because they
were trying to get this stadium figured out, because he
helped out with Minnesota and the Vikings getting their stadium done.
And I don't know if anybody's followed along with that.
The Bear still don't have a new stadium. They didn't
know where they want to build it, and the one
rendering they did offer up had no parking lot pictured,
(18:37):
so the whole thing's a disaster. He spoke yesterday for
the first time since the firing of Matt Eberflus and
wanted to let everybody know that Ryan Poles is going
to remain the GM there and that this is a
hot commodity as far as a coaching job goes in
the NFL.
Speaker 7 (18:58):
Brian Poles is the general manager of the Chicago Bears,
and he will remain the general manager of the Chicago Bears.
Ryan is young, he's talented, he's right, he's hard working.
He's done everything in his power to bring a winner
to Chicago. We will work together on a daily basis
to make sure that we bring the best person to
(19:18):
the Chicago Bears as our permanent head football coach. You
have our word on that. It will be an exhaustive search.
We are in a unique situation. This will be the
most coveted job in the National Football League this year,
and Ryan and I need to work hand in hand
together to make sure we bring that to life.
Speaker 3 (19:36):
I just the both covet it again.
Speaker 5 (19:41):
I'll repeat this and I'll say it, and I'll say it.
I'll mean it. Skill and talent cannot outperform dysfunction, Oh God,
can't do it. And if that man thinks that that's
the most coveted job that's going to come available National
Football League, that's either damning to the other teams that
(20:06):
I think there's going to be, which some already are available.
I think he's damning to those teams. Or at the
end of the day, that man is delusional or he's
lying and he's not delusional at all.
Speaker 3 (20:22):
So I don't know. It's not good either, whatever the
option is, whichever one you said, alot, it's not good.
Speaker 4 (20:29):
I would start off by saying this, you have to
look at the track record, because Jonas goes back to
Kevin Warren's involvement and getting the stadium, which you know, look,
I'm not sure how involved or not involved he was.
Speaker 3 (20:39):
Obviously he was there and I'm sure he played a role.
Speaker 4 (20:43):
I look at more of the Kevin Warren impact on
the Big Ten why he was there, if you recall
he was the commissioner during COVID and some would say
coming from Jim Delaney, who is a commissioner who really
I don't think people understand the impact that he had
(21:04):
on college sports. You know, people look at the SEC Network,
a SEC Network, all these other networks. He started the
Big Ten network that was the first of its kind,
and he was intricately involved in building out that network,
having a vision for wanting to have a space for
their conference to be able to open up you know,
(21:24):
the world TV for almost all their games, all their
conference games, and the business model that goes.
Speaker 3 (21:29):
Along with that.
Speaker 4 (21:30):
And so you had Jim Delaney, who was one of
the best commissioners that any conference has ever had, who
steps down. Then's followed by Kevin Warren, who, in my opinion,
mismanaged and was not a leader during a time when
COVID to be able to put guys out there to
(21:52):
play and was more reactionary and if anything, not saying
that the Big Ten necessarily fell behind, but it was
one of the first times where you kind of thought,
oh no, like this isn't good for the conference moving
forward with the current leadership that we have. There were
players protesting to play. I mean, it was all sorts
(22:14):
of things that they were frustrated by. In what became
a condensed season because of his lack of leadership in
a moment where you need it the most throughout COVID.
So then you fast forward to why he steps down
as the Big Ten commissioner to take over as president
of the Bears.
Speaker 3 (22:31):
Jonas points out the rendering of the stadium.
Speaker 4 (22:33):
He was brought into help find a site for the
stadium and he hasn't been able to do that and
it's been a bit of a joke since he's been
there in that regard.
Speaker 3 (22:42):
Now you see the firing in that.
Speaker 4 (22:44):
Entire process, I mean, how do you let the guy
that you're firing go and do a press conference and
everything and fire him after the fact. It's just the
whole thing is incredibly mismanaged. And so now you're putting
them in charge of hiring the next head coach. And
one of the things that I've kind of heard through
the grape on everything else, and I do think Thomas
(23:04):
Graham will get a legit shot or seuse mer Thomas
Brown will get a legit shot at becoming the interim
head coach to becoming the full time head coach. But
there's some other candidates that have been thrown out there.
And it doesn't seem like the focus is on meritocracy
and what they've accomplished as a coach.
Speaker 3 (23:20):
It seems like he's got a different initiative.
Speaker 4 (23:23):
And that's fine if that's his prerogative, But the problem is, like,
you should want the best. If you're saying this is
the best possible job, you should want the best possible candidate.
Speaker 3 (23:31):
I don't know who that is, but some of the
names are throwing out there.
Speaker 4 (23:36):
It's like, well, Okay, what's the experience of that guy
in the NFL. Okay, they don't have any gotcha? So
I would be very concerned if I am Jonas Knox's
a Bears fan or many other bearst fans out there,
in putting someone in charge that, in my opinion, hasn't
done a great job the last couple of stops so
(23:58):
far in Chicago. And then ob says the Big ten
commissioner as if for all those Big ten fans who
are frustrated with the Start Times everything else, who did
the Big ten media right steal Kevin Warren? So if
you got frustration about that, I'm just saying, be careful,
be careful how this whole process works out and what
happens on the back end of it because there's someone
(24:19):
in charge who doesn't have a great track record.
Speaker 2 (24:21):
So he was asked yesterday, Kevin Warren was about the
Mattiberflu's decision to go to the press conference because LeVar
and I were on Friday, we played to open up
the show his pressor his press are talking.
Speaker 5 (24:35):
I also said that they needed to cut him. Yeah,
I said a cut bait on him, But I didn't
know that.
Speaker 3 (24:40):
I was going to be that.
Speaker 2 (24:42):
Like fifteen minutes later, Breer comes on at Breaking News
bears for wait a.
Speaker 3 (24:46):
Second, we just heard from the guy, literally just heard
from him. Cut bait. Well you can't, I mean, if
you want to move on from him, move on from so.
Speaker 2 (24:52):
Kevin Warren addressed that issue yesterday with the media in Chicago.
Speaker 7 (24:57):
If one thing we stand for this family and integrity
and doing it the right way in retrospect, could we
have done it better? Absolutely, I'll be the first one
to raise my hand.
Speaker 3 (25:06):
Yes.
Speaker 7 (25:07):
But during his press conference and even a couple hours later,
we had we didn't.
Speaker 3 (25:11):
We had not reached the decision.
Speaker 7 (25:13):
And but on the flip side of it, something that
was important to us is that once we reached the decision.
Speaker 3 (25:19):
We wanted to.
Speaker 7 (25:19):
Make sure to talk with matt about that so he
could have the respect to be able to call his family.
This is the first time, and it happens around the
league a lot where a head coach will find out
he's terminated, and he finds out before he's told from
the organization, and that's something that we promised that we
weren't going to do.
Speaker 3 (25:37):
That's kap, that's all the way cat is.
Speaker 4 (25:41):
I don't know what that means, but I'll say that's
not true. One hundred percent is not true. And by
the way, everyone knew Mattie Reflus is gonna get fired
with how he managed the Thanksgiving Day game.
Speaker 3 (25:52):
Yeah, I mean, let's let's be real.
Speaker 4 (25:55):
No one watched that game that was a Bears fan
or even just a football fan, and watch how they
mismanaged the clock at the end of that and goes, hmm,
let's give that guy another week. Like that was the
nail in the coffin no doubt, and so we have
to wait, however.
Speaker 3 (26:10):
Many days for them to make that decision.
Speaker 4 (26:13):
If anything, he could have just said, look, we kind
of had this decision made up in our minds. We
should have communicated better to you guys, but we just
don't want to fire him over Thanksgiving, you know, we
wanted to give a little extra time with the family.
But yeah, this is was pretty much a done deal
with the way last week's game ended.
Speaker 5 (26:28):
Or how about say, we hadn't come to a decision yet,
and we were discussing it to come to a decision,
so we told eber Flues to hold off on doing
like we told the press our media department, hold off
on any any pressers, like even if he wants to
do it, just hold off until we decide and then
(26:49):
we'll go from there.
Speaker 3 (26:50):
Like why allow the presser to go on?
Speaker 5 (26:53):
Like if you're saying and oh, you're raising your hand
like in retrospect, but then you want to double back
and kind of try to justify, like, well, but we
hadn't come We did want to protect him and handle
it like a family. And I'll be the first one
to admit that we didn't handle it like family. But
you know what, we hadn't made a decision yet, So
it's not like we didn't treat him like family. It's
that we just hadn't made a decision yet. But that's
(27:16):
that statement alone says you were deliberating amongst the people
that were going to make the decision before that press
conference took place.
Speaker 2 (27:25):
I've been listening to this crap for forty years. Man,
it's and it never changes. And people can sit there
and say, well, they got rid of Eberflu's problem solved,
and we talked about this since the they've been living
on the past this entire time. The eighty five Bears
is all they've got to hold on to, and they
hold on to it. They had the Okay, yeah, they
(27:46):
had the Erlacker. Here's here's here's here's Chicago Bears football.
The last forty years since the eighty five Bears six
playoff wins. Put that in perspective. How many of those
belonged to Erlackers teams?
Speaker 3 (27:59):
A few? Put that into perspective.
Speaker 2 (28:02):
The Jaguars have eight in that time, and they've only
been around since ninety five, so ten less years is
an organization, and they've got more playoff wins.
Speaker 3 (28:10):
This has been going on four years.
Speaker 2 (28:13):
They can spit out whatever crap they want about, well,
we're trying to do this and we mean business here
and we stop. It's the same old, same old, And
when it comes to the next coach.
Speaker 3 (28:23):
You know how this is gonna go.
Speaker 1 (28:25):
It's gonna go.
Speaker 3 (28:25):
This is like telegraph by the Bears.
Speaker 2 (28:28):
Oh we had an offensive guy last time, Better go
defensive guy. Oh we had a defensive guy last time.
Better go offensive guy instead of just Hey, who's the
best one for the job, Like, who's the guy? Like
Mike Vrabel would be a great hire. You think Vrabel's
taking that gig. And apparently coaches that are candidates around
the league saw how they handled the firing biber Flues
(28:49):
and they're like, f that.
Speaker 5 (28:50):
The Sciints fired their coach, right, yeah, okay, the Jets
fired their coach. Yes, yep, all right, the Chicago Bears
are on that list. Gerard Mayo, do y'all think he'll
maintain his gig after this year?
Speaker 3 (29:04):
I think he's I do. I don't think they're gonna
give it.
Speaker 5 (29:06):
I agree, Okay, I agree with you, Jonas, you agree,
all right. I got a feeling that Zach Taylor could
be a casualty.
Speaker 3 (29:13):
I don't.
Speaker 5 (29:14):
I mean, I think he could be. McCarthy could be
a casualty. I mean they seem to be. They're trying.
Speaker 3 (29:21):
He doesn't need to get fired though, because he's out
his last year.
Speaker 5 (29:24):
Okay, but but it'll be a job that's open, right,
I'm not okay, Okay, the New York Giants day ball
could be a op Okay, Jonas, you don't think so,
I think they do.
Speaker 3 (29:37):
Okay?
Speaker 6 (29:38):
Uh?
Speaker 5 (29:38):
The Las Vegas Raiders, yes, okay, yes, all right, the
Jacksonville Jackuie. I'm telling you this is going to be
one of the years where there's the most opportunities to
be a head coach. Now, out of those ones that
we just named, which one would you think is the
most coveted out of all of those?
Speaker 3 (29:57):
Out of balls? I would I would go with the Giants,
Giants or Dallas. Yeah. Yeah, So if you think.
Speaker 4 (30:05):
About Giants as the track record of late like the
one thing you can say whatever you.
Speaker 3 (30:09):
Want about Jerry because of how you want. She talks.
He does hang with his coaches. You know, I don't disagree.
Speaker 5 (30:16):
I would, I would, I would, I would wonder I
would debate loosely, like loosely right now, I would it
be what would you throw the Bengals in there?
Speaker 3 (30:28):
I know person that with.
Speaker 2 (30:29):
Burrow, right, But and the only reason they're saying that
this is the most coveted job is because what they
think they have in Caleb Williams. But if you don't,
if you don't hire the right guy next, whatever you
think you have in him is going to be stunted
because you've made the decision to go in this direction.
I mean, he's less than a year into his NFL
(30:51):
career and he's already on his second offensive coordinator and
his second.
Speaker 3 (30:55):
Coach, Like, like, how does that? They like?
Speaker 2 (30:58):
That's why when they talk about, well, it's the most
covetant dude, you don't even know how to fire coaches,
let alone hire firing them, Right, That's why you hear
this stuff and you go. And I've also seen the
speculation out there that maybe uh Marcus Freeman might get
a might get.
Speaker 3 (31:15):
He might get a look, yeah, does he want to
go to the league. I don't know. Uh well, I mean, look,
I have no idea.
Speaker 4 (31:21):
I would assume most head coaches would one at some
point want to test the ability to go to the league.
I believe he was drafted there too, right, m was
he or he at least maybe played for.
Speaker 3 (31:31):
The Bears at one point.
Speaker 4 (31:32):
But the bottom line is, here's what I'd say to
that is of course, every head coach probably is a
competitor and wants to go to the league at some
point if they have the opportunity. The timing of it
seems rather perfect for an agent to want to put
that out there for leverage for an extension to get
paid more, because coming off a win versus arrival, right
(31:56):
and eleven one season, it's obviously going to be like
the time to say, okay, let's re up and we
need to get paid more. And here's why, because it's
not just you know, you guys who want them, it's
it's someone else too. So the reason why now that
comes out where you have this you know, two week
three week layoff before they'll play in the playoff, is
what happens if you go in the playoff and you
(32:16):
lose the first round, it doesn't go well, not as
much leverage there, right, So of course this is that
time of year where when there's job openings and you
have the opportunity to go leverage that an agent will
throw the guy's name as part of something else and
you know there'll be some maybe mutual interest or an
(32:37):
interview whatever. But it helps, does it not like this
time of year as much as we want to act
like there's a lot of coaches you get fired, but
there's a lot of coaches you make money.
Speaker 3 (32:47):
Right now. They don't have to do anything.
Speaker 4 (32:49):
Other than sit in the exact same job they're at,
and it's almost like they just got a bonus because
they're agents. These agents that are out there representing these
coaches can vince the presidents of the university of the
athletic directors that.
Speaker 3 (33:03):
That coaches, he's really he's really interested in leaving.
Speaker 4 (33:05):
He's going to leave you guys, and you guys are
gonna be stuck high and dry and if you don't
agree to this, that's how this works. Hey, these agents
try to make these leverage plays and it's unbelievable because
oftentimes the coaches aren't going anywhere. Well, there's not like
maybe interest in it. But that's how the agents play
their cards this time of year. So watch how many
coaches get extensions off of some of these job openings
(33:30):
that are at the college level and the NFL level.
I'm telling you, man, it happens every single year this
time of year.
Speaker 5 (33:37):
Imagine Dion Sanders, like you have the influence of the
media because everybody you've pretty much worked.
Speaker 3 (33:46):
With all of them. They a lot of them respect you.
Speaker 5 (33:49):
They created that narrative that well, why not leave with
your kids? Could you imagine like he's probably under he
probably got a contract extension too. They can they just
redo your contract again and be like, look, we're gonna
redo your contract because.
Speaker 3 (34:04):
Of course you can't. Damn of course you can't.
Speaker 5 (34:06):
Then then there's a strong possibility they got to because
if this is that time of the year, this is
the moment in time where you're gonna have those conversations
with somebody like Prime or air quotes right, if you're
his agent and talk about high and dry? What or
what what college would be more high and dry? If
Dion decided to go to the league? Is there is
(34:28):
there a better? Is there is there a is there
a more compromise? Are you saying, guys at er the portal? Oh,
bro oh, that Louis Vauton luggage is eye of there,
DoD and the Louis coming in out of there? Who
would still go to Colorado if Prime left? And who
would stay if Prime left? Like man, and if I'm Colorado,
(34:52):
what do you do? You got lightning in the bottle?
Do you do you know do you Jimmy Johnson it
and let him go.
Speaker 2 (35:00):
I mean, I mean, if he's serious about, you know,
wanting to continue on there, then you got to make
that work.
Speaker 3 (35:06):
How do you make that work?
Speaker 2 (35:08):
Remember when Saban's name would always get thrown out, and
when Texas's job opened up one year, there was thoughts that, hey,
would he take the Texas gig?
Speaker 3 (35:15):
And then Alabama came back to him and gave him
a bunch of money.
Speaker 5 (35:18):
Don't you think they got to give a bunch of
money before it even becomes like more of a like
it's already become more of a conversation. Jerry Jones, I
feel like cooled it down with the way he responded
to it.
Speaker 3 (35:29):
But let's be clear.
Speaker 5 (35:30):
I just rad you off about six, six or seven
teams that potentially will be looking for a head coach.
I just wonder how many of those, how many of
those like a notre dame like that would be a
hit if you lost, if you lost your head coach.
But be clear, that's notre dame. You'll be able to
bring in another dope ass coach and the branded something.
(35:55):
Hey man, that's that's a big enough brand where you're
not going to get commits.
Speaker 3 (36:00):
You're not. You're not going to have.
Speaker 5 (36:02):
To fight against the things that you would fight against
if you were a program that came from the depths
of the abyss like Colorado was abysmal, and now you
have this.
Speaker 3 (36:15):
How much do you got to pay?
Speaker 2 (36:16):
You know, if Marcus Freeman did take the gig and
go to the Bears, you know, it'd be a great
coach at Notre Dame. Brady Brady Quinn, I'll come out
of retirement, imagine that.
Speaker 3 (36:25):
I don't know why you do this. I don't have
any desires. I would coach at. I would be it,
I would help at. This is OK, this is this
is what Jesus, this is what gives right. Yes, we'd
be like Doug. We would. You'd be making the time.
You know why. I don't know.
Speaker 4 (36:48):
No, this radio bad, bad reps for this we're going,
I mean, we're promoting, I know, but this is this
is why radio hosts gets such bad reputations because of
crap like Jonas throws out there that aren't even close
to anything.
Speaker 5 (37:08):
All I know is every time I've done the show
from State College, it it never even touched you guys
were with us. It's never even touched the time that
you see people in the building, so it'd be like
we're just getting warmed up. We're just getting warmed up
for today because we be done with the show by
the time anyone and I'm talking even coaches to come in,
(37:30):
it's start working.
Speaker 3 (37:31):
We're done before they even come in.
Speaker 2 (37:33):
So if I go back to work at TGI Fridays,
I'll just we're gonna.
Speaker 5 (37:36):
Bring you on board. What do you mean, you're You're
the host of the show. So you and Lee could
be like walking or he could like, you know, monitor
the bathrooms, clean them up and stuff like that. If
you can sit around and be ahead of like the
media and the show and all that stuff. Yeah, lead,
we got keep him busy. I ain't drinking. You can't
(37:56):
get drunk like that. At the college level, I got
it all mapped out. If Brady gets that job, just
just hire me as chief of staff.
Speaker 3 (38:04):
That's that's all. I got it all mapped out. Is
that a real position there, chief Dad?
Speaker 6 (38:08):
Oh?
Speaker 3 (38:08):
Yeah, it is. It is these days, bro, you can
make up whatever you want.
Speaker 4 (38:12):
You get to college football program, they make up all
kinds of stuff.
Speaker 5 (38:15):
Now, just take care of your boy, bro, don't forget
your boy, don't don't get back.
Speaker 3 (38:20):
You know who's not going to be around Jonas?
Speaker 4 (38:23):
Why not, because he'll want to be doing a solo
show done radio.
Speaker 3 (38:27):
He would, he would. He brings us up so he
can kick us off the show, LeVar so can do
his solo.
Speaker 2 (38:33):
And also, I'm a little bit preoccupied Saturdays from two
to four Eastern time, eleven and one pm Pacific time,
So if there's a game going on at that time,
I'm out.
Speaker 3 (38:41):
Someone once told me that's when they like to take
a dump.
Speaker 1 (38:46):
Be sure to catch live editions of Two Pros and
a Cup of Joe with Brady Quinn, LeVar Arrington, and
Jonas Knox weekdays at six am Eastern three am Pacific.
Speaker 2 (38:56):
Right now, speaking of Tuesday traditions. He's the one and
only Pete Prisco, senior NFL columnist for CBS Sports and
analysts for CBS Sports.
Speaker 3 (39:07):
H Key.
Speaker 2 (39:07):
You can get him on x at Prisco CBS. Pete,
you smooth operator, you congratulations. You were right this entire
time about Kirk Cousins.
Speaker 8 (39:17):
You know, it's funny, it's he's playing so bad. But
I don't think you can make a change there. You
just can't. I mean, you can't throw Michael Pennix in
there when you're leading the division and trying to push
for a playoff spot, and I know people are pushing
for that. I can't imagine that would happen. But boy,
Kirk Cousins need to pick it up. And you know what,
It's funny he gets to go back and play against
(39:38):
his former team this week, which is interesting in itself,
but all you have to do is yell big game, Kirk,
big game, and they know what he's going to do.
Speaker 4 (39:46):
Wow, unbelievable, Pete. I mean, you can't just give the
guy and say he's had a little bit of a slump.
Right now, Justin Tucker struggling kicking, I'm sure gonna say
to say about him.
Speaker 8 (39:55):
How what if Justin Tucker miss is another one. Sit
his ass down? Come on, give me a break, are you?
Speaker 4 (40:01):
I mean, here's the thing is, would you say Justin
Tucker has as good of a case as anyone to
make an Hall of Fame as a kicker.
Speaker 8 (40:07):
Yeah, he's been a great kicker, But we all know, Brady,
and you know you've been around the league long enough.
When it goes rotten, it goes rotten and there's nothing
to get out.
Speaker 4 (40:16):
Let's pause there, because I really didn't want to talk
about kicking. I actually wanted to ask you about Rogers.
I think we'd both agree he's a first ballot Hall
of Famer. This season, he has not looked anything close
to that. How do you summarize Rogers right now? What
would you do with him in New York? And what
do you think the future is?
Speaker 8 (40:36):
He's terrible right now and I don't know if he's
going to play anymore after this, And I mean, they
have to find a quarterback, there's no question about that.
But Brady, you're not wrong. I mean, he's been awful
and they had a kick. But you asked me every
week which game that I was I on the wrongs,
was on the right side of it?
Speaker 3 (40:54):
Didn't have that? Was it all the same here? Pete?
Same here?
Speaker 8 (40:57):
Yeah? Yeah, right, they're going up twenty, he ain't seven,
and the game's over. Seatle's going to pack the bags
and start looking ahead to this week's game with Arizona,
And next thing you know, he throws it right into
the stomach of Leonard Williams. What the hell was that?
And I know he didn't see him, he dropped out,
But come on, you're better than that, Rogers. You're smarter
than that you're supposed to be and that was a
terrible play. So yeah, Brady, he's playing awful football. And
(41:21):
I think this is the end. To be honest with you.
Speaker 5 (41:23):
What what type of situation do you think Kevin Stefanski
will find himself in going into next season knowing that
two years straight Pete, he's had a backup quarterback give
him better results than the half of you know, the
quarter of a billion dollar man that they have in
Deshaun Watson.
Speaker 8 (41:45):
Well, and that's been from what I heard. He didn't
want him in the first place, Deshaun Watson. That was
kind of mandated on him. The ownership is out, went
out and got wanted Deshaun Watson. They get to Shawn
Watson and he's awful. He's a shell of himself. And
he wasn't that great to be. I mean, he was
a little overrated in Houston to begin with. But now
he's a shell of himself and you're stuck with him.
So what do you do if you're Kevin Stefanski, if
(42:07):
you're stuck with him, you get to sit him on
the bench. Absolutely you can if you're the head coach.
The question becomes, does Kevin Stefanski want to be the
head coach there? And if he doesn't, he would go
find a job somewhere else. He's a good football coach,
and he was put in that terrible situation by ownership
by being forced to play that guy. Hey forced to
get that guy, trade for him, give up a ton
(42:28):
of assets, pay that guy, and then continue to play him.
And then they restructure him and give him a contract
that basically you can't get out of him. So it's
a terrible situation. I feel for Kevin Stefanski, but if
next year, I wouldn't play him. He's not very good
And that's clear every that's evident to everybody who's been
around the NFL for a long time.
Speaker 5 (42:47):
Pete, Is there a saying that would go along with
what you just said with Kevin Stefanski's situation? If I'm there,
you wouldn't play him, but you know, maybe you have
to plan. Is there any type of a saying that
would go along with that? Because you're a guy that
has sayings, you know what I mean. So I'm just
curious if if we're going to get a saying from
you about the situation.
Speaker 3 (43:07):
Stefanski's in no, but let.
Speaker 8 (43:09):
Me think about it and I'll come up with Yes,
you put me on You put me on the spot. LeVar.
Speaker 3 (43:14):
No, here, here's LeVar LeVar. Here's here's what we're looking for.
Speaker 4 (43:18):
Okay, I want to ask you about the San Francisco
forty nine ers peak because I feel like they're in
a tough spot. It's it's gonna be the oldest roster
in the NFL next year. They've got to make a
decision on brock Party.
Speaker 3 (43:28):
In my opinion, don't think they can let it drag out.
Speaker 4 (43:31):
What would you advise the forty nine ers to do
in regards to brock Purty with what signed into an extension?
Speaker 8 (43:36):
Heyamyam really and yeah? I think he played well enough
early to season show how good he can be. I mean,
this situation is terrible right now for him, awful. I
mean the left the left tackle didn't play the other
day when he left the games and obviously had a
tragedy his life. God bless him, but no hope, you know,
prayer for him and his family. But when he's not there,
(43:57):
a different lineup and then all the guys going in
and out and Chris to McCaffrey going in and out.
That's another thing. Christian McCaffrey hasn't been on the field.
I mean in his career. If you look back at
Christian McCaffrey's career, he's had a lot of injuries.
Speaker 4 (44:08):
Well, we've actually, we've actually done a deep dive on this, Pete.
It seems like about the time he met Olivia Colpo,
his now wife, that like all of a sudden he's
seen the field less, which we one hundred percent understand
why that would be the case too.
Speaker 8 (44:21):
So yeah, wow, look at you guys. You went there.
Speaker 5 (44:26):
You got to look at information.
Speaker 3 (44:30):
Because you haven't, Pete, Come on, is your vision that bad?
Speaker 5 (44:33):
Pete?
Speaker 8 (44:34):
I really haven't. I just think that, you know, he's
so tightly. These guys overtrained. It's ridiculous nowadays they're overtrained.
They're like Brady Quinn. They getting the gym and they overtrained.
Brady doesn't play quarterback anymore, he trains.
Speaker 4 (44:47):
I told them the other day, Pete, I think I
popped something in my quad and I told my wife
and she's like, oh, you're being.
Speaker 3 (44:53):
A woo, So you just don't play anymore, so you're
not tough.
Speaker 4 (44:56):
I showed her my thigh. You know how you start
to have like bruising where like pools of whatever?
Speaker 3 (45:00):
Her? I know far you can you agree?
Speaker 5 (45:02):
I mean not on me, but yeah, when I see
my teammates like you, I can see those cruises yet.
Speaker 4 (45:07):
Well, anyway, she like I was, she doesn't happen to
your thigh And I know, what do you mean?
Speaker 3 (45:15):
I looked at it.
Speaker 4 (45:15):
It's like there's like a huge you know, yeah, like
like big like purple, like basically where everything's.
Speaker 3 (45:22):
Drained out whatever purple too.
Speaker 4 (45:24):
What I was doing sprints like an idiot, and I
think I popped my quad. I don't want to get
sidetracked by this peak because we don't have a ton
of time with you. I do want to get back
to the party situation. If they were able to let
him go, come on free agency, like who would be
the big like where does he sign? Like how much
is he really getting paid on the free agent market.
I think he's valued probably the most in San Francisco.
Speaker 8 (45:46):
I would agree with you on that. I think he's
much more valued than in San Francisco.
Speaker 4 (45:50):
I mean, I feel like they're a tough spot Pete,
depending on if they sign them.
Speaker 8 (45:54):
If they don't, well, they were in a tough spot
when they draft to trade lamps. That's why that was
the biggest fun problem. And then they kind of gotta
gotta prepass on it when he plays.
Speaker 3 (46:04):
So would you, I.
Speaker 5 (46:05):
Mean, would you say that they can't win for losing
in the situation that they're in right now?
Speaker 8 (46:13):
You got to have a quarterback. I would pay him.
I'm sorry, I would pay him. And I used to
be I used to be in the camp the guy
and he's not. He's not just a guy. Bertie, what
are you trying to get me to say? Because they
want me to say it, I'll say it.
Speaker 4 (46:25):
It's not that I'm trying to get you to say anything.
You you obviously believe they should pay him. But we've
talked about quarterback situations before where teams are a tough
spot whether they pay them or whether they don't. Because
you're just saying that, you say that goes along with it.
Speaker 8 (46:37):
Damn very Chris.
Speaker 3 (46:46):
I mean, this is the first scenario peak.
Speaker 8 (46:48):
Because and by the way, and by the way, in
the majority of situations that's this.
Speaker 4 (46:56):
Is this is why I said this, Pete, because watching
Josh Allen the same field as Brock And I understand,
like you lost Christian McCaffrey, there's all.
Speaker 3 (47:03):
These other issues I cost you.
Speaker 4 (47:04):
You go, I get it, But are you telling me
that San Francisco's supporting cast now isn't like kind of
equivalent to like the Bills, you know. I mean, I
know they've gotten Mamuri Cooper, they've gotten better, But I
just I look at it and I go, you're never
gonna You're never gonna look at a matchup between Mahomes
and Purdy or Allen and Purdy, or Lamar Jackson and
Purty and go, yeah, that's a level playing field.
Speaker 3 (47:26):
You're always gonna say those teams have the advantage.
Speaker 8 (47:28):
Okay, that's true, I give you, But you're talking about
the best of the league. Josh Allen's the MVP this
year compared to Okay, when you look at Josh Allen Stua,
do you ever think that too is in the same class.
Speaker 3 (47:38):
No.
Speaker 4 (47:38):
But I think that's also why a lot of these
teams have a hard time giving extensions because they realize, like,
we're playing with you know, not Josh Allen.
Speaker 8 (47:47):
Right, That's the thing. There's only are you win with
or win because of quarterbacks, that's the question. And Josh
Allen's a win because of quarterback. Patrick Mahones is a
win because of quarterback Joe Burrow. They don't win.
Speaker 3 (47:58):
So what's Brock Purty?
Speaker 8 (48:00):
Rock Party is a win with quarterback probably mm. But
but again what okay, what is Garret Goff?
Speaker 3 (48:08):
He's a win because of Now, I mean, you could.
Speaker 8 (48:11):
Have made Chase he is in that system. He is,
But Deak Goff went to, uh.
Speaker 4 (48:16):
Yeah, but come on, Pete, like you're really gonna you're
really gonna look at the talent of Jared Goff and
compared to Purty and say they're equal. I mean, come on, man, I've.
Speaker 8 (48:24):
Always been a big you know, I've always been a
big Jared Goff guy. I always thought he was better
than people getting credit for. But so no, if you're
asking me that, I think Jarack Goff is better than
Rock Party. But but again, Rock Party did some things
early in the year where he proved the people that
he could carry the team if need be when things
weren't going well around them. I think, you know, one
of the things that gets overlooked in this whole thing
is the defense is stunk too. I mean that was
(48:47):
the calling card for years. They're gonna be physical, they're
gonna rough you up, and they're gonna sack your court.
But they haven't been very good either, and so yeah,
but I do think you have to resign rock Pert.
Speaker 2 (48:57):
By the way, I see what you're doing there. I
see what you're doing there, Pete. You're buttering up rock
Pardy and Iowa State, alum, because you know what's about
to happen this weekend.
Speaker 3 (49:07):
So I got to ask a question.
Speaker 2 (49:09):
Good call, all right forks up. Is Arizona State going
to be more than two points better than Iowa State
at the end of that game for the Big Twelve Championship?
Speaker 8 (49:18):
Yes, even without Jordan Tyson, they will be. And I'm
worried about playing Iowa State because I think Matt Campbell's
a great coach. I really do. I think Matt Campbell.
I think the NFL they've come sniffing around him. I
go get him. I think he's a fantastic coach. You
look at his roster every year in a year out,
and he does a lot with less. And so yeah,
I'm concerned about the game. Here's the other thing that
bothers me every bracket. I see every single one has
(49:42):
Arizona State in it. Do they forget they start to
play a damn game? I mean, come on, that's.
Speaker 3 (49:47):
Gonna be why they lead, Pete.
Speaker 4 (49:48):
The reason why they do that is because as of
right now, they're assuming, like the favorites win in these
games and that's who gets in.
Speaker 8 (49:56):
They're doing, Brady, But I don't like it. The negative
me and the and the pessimistic neat of like seeing that.
I don't want to see it.
Speaker 3 (50:04):
But Pete, I'll tell you wins.
Speaker 4 (50:07):
Will you make a donation Arizona States Athletic program?
Speaker 8 (50:11):
No?
Speaker 3 (50:13):
I bought. I bought.
Speaker 8 (50:14):
I bought a hockey jersey when I was there for
the Super Bowl. I'll wear that I spent. That's my
contribution I have, Pete. I mean, come on you though,
when they do get to Atlanta for the championship game,
I will be there.
Speaker 3 (50:28):
That's good, all right?
Speaker 5 (50:29):
Can I can I ask you your feelings on the
Trevor Lawrence hit? What was your what was your initial
reaction and did it change? Did it get worse, did
it get better? Did you feel good about it? Did
you feel horrible about it?
Speaker 3 (50:41):
What? What was your take on it?
Speaker 8 (50:43):
It was a dirty hit. It was a dirty hit,
period and the story dirty hit your forum in newis
genu is a dirty, dirty hit. Did I like the
way Jackson responded to it. I would have done. I
would have got way past what they did. I would
once What.
Speaker 3 (50:56):
Would you have done? What would you have done? Pete Oh?
Speaker 8 (50:59):
I would have Once Evivan Ingram threw him to the ground,
he should have got on top of him, and everybody
should have filed on and not let him up. That's
what they should They should have given him a beaten
on the ground. That's what they should have done. And
then and then when it carried over, there was a
punch thrown by jar and Jones, the rookie. God bless them.
I mean, you know what, he got fined. Who cares,
big deal, don't punch. And then it kind of carried
(51:19):
over what I didn't like a couple of things I
didn't like. I didn't like. I think the fans need
to stay the hell out of it and not throw
things on players. Get out of there. It's none of
your business. When happens on the field doesn't involve you,
don't thro think the players no matter what he does
or how he talks to you as he walks off
the field. That to me is class list. And I
didn't like the way. You know, Demiko Ryans kind of.
(51:40):
I know what he's doing. He's standing up for his player.
But he blamed Trevor Lawrence for the late slide and
then blame the sideline for it. Give me a break.
He's lucky that entire sideline didn't go over there, and
just give that guy a beat. And here's the other thing.
Later in that game, grayvon Walker had a real chance
on the sideline to take one of those shots that
(52:00):
look at it and you go, oh my god. He
could have killed him as j Stroud was going to
the sideline and he pulled up. And I don't know
if I would have had that in me if I
were him. I just don't. And I never want to
see anybody try and hurt anybody. That's not part of
the game. You guys know that, But you got to
get a shot in it.
Speaker 5 (52:19):
There is a code of returning the favor though. When
you get one of ours, we're going to get one
of yours.
Speaker 3 (52:24):
I mean that. That is a code that most of
us live by.
Speaker 8 (52:27):
You're damn right, And I don't think Jacksonville did a
very good job in the second half of living up
to that code. I would have I would have taken
you know, CJ. Stroud after play, not gone at his
knees or on his head or anything. I would have
taken him and grabbed him and thrown him ten yards
behind the line of scrimmage and said message message served, Okay,
you can't do that to our guy. We're going to
(52:48):
do it to your guy.
Speaker 2 (52:51):
Fair enough, all right, Uh, Pete Prisco, we appreciate it. Always,
always a fun ride with Pete here on a Tuesday
morning at Prisco. CBS is where you can find him
on x We'll do it again next week.
Speaker 3 (53:03):
Pete.
Speaker 8 (53:03):
Al right, guys in the playoffs, let's.
Speaker 3 (53:07):
Go all right there.
Speaker 2 (53:08):
He is a great Pete Risco with us here on
Fox Sport.
Speaker 3 (53:10):
It took him so long to get there, so happy
he finally did. Though. Yeah, I mean he's convinced though.
Speaker 4 (53:16):
Perty's the guy, so I guess there's not really much
of a situations his mind.
Speaker 2 (53:21):
All right, And you heard it. He likes Arizona State
minus too, so there's a there's a pick from Pete
