Speaker 1 (00:01):
This is the best of two pros and a couple
Joe with Lamar Airings, Rady Win and Jonas Knox on
Fox Radio.
Speaker 2 (00:13):
Did you guys feel it? There was a giant gust
of wind from the West coast yesterday and now now
that gust of wind was the swing and the miss
for the La Lakers On Dan Hurley, Oh and down
they go.
Speaker 3 (00:29):
Yeah, big time swinging a miss.
Speaker 4 (00:31):
You know what, I gotta tell you, I was dead wrong.
Speaker 5 (00:34):
And I think part of it is is maybe I
just in my mind have this misconception of what the
Lakers are and how they're viewed.
Speaker 4 (00:41):
I mean, are the Lakers not viewed?
Speaker 5 (00:43):
Is that story to a franchise that like, you can't
turn down this job, this opportunity.
Speaker 2 (00:50):
The history is there the l like it's like they
have so much, so many great moments, great tradition. But
it kind of has that feeling like Miami football, where
we remember Miami football as being man, they were the
you it was different, and then you look back and
you go, that's kind of been a long time since
(01:12):
they won real big games. I know they won the
Bubble Championship, but before that, we're talking what fifteen years ago,
it's not like this is recent success they've had. And
I just wonder if people look at that as opposed
to just the name on the front and everything that
comes along with it.
Speaker 6 (01:29):
See to me, when I look at the situation, it
is a storied franchise.
Speaker 3 (01:35):
It is.
Speaker 6 (01:37):
A franchise that has tremendous relevance. Even if that relevance
is more rooted in the past, it's still a tremendous
job and a tremendous franchise historically speaking and reputationally speaking.
Speaker 3 (01:53):
I just, for me, I just.
Speaker 6 (01:54):
Think that it's it's almost like Washington in how Washington
was in football, where you had a foundation built by
a different owner, and since there's been new ownership that
has taken place, I just think that there's there is
a cultural, a cultural situation that has developed in in
(02:21):
LA And I just don't know that if you're looking
at the last three or four coaches from Byron Scott
to Luke Walton to Vogel to Ham, they they don't
make it out of four years, four years and tops
and you're out.
Speaker 3 (02:40):
I just I think that it is.
Speaker 6 (02:42):
A more volatile job because of how high profile the
franchise is, and if you're not if you're not going
to this team with the idea and the understanding that
I have two to four years to get this done,
(03:03):
and the likelihood is outside of the last guys I've
been here, it's probably more on the side that I'm
out after four than it is that I'm in. I
just think that that's a hard if you have a
situation like Hurley. I just think that that's a hard
decision to make to walk away from stability and success
(03:26):
at that level to go to the next level and
have so much uncertainty as to what your future looks like.
Other than there's the strong possibility that I'm going to
be out of here in two to four years, Well
that's hard.
Speaker 4 (03:41):
Think about this.
Speaker 5 (03:42):
Though, He's turned down two legendary programs or teams Kentucky
earlier this offseason, stayed with Yukon, which you might say, well,
that makes maybe more sense because he's at the college level,
same level. Yukon's got a storied history and tradition as well,
and he's built that program up where he'd maybe be
(04:04):
having to do something similar to that to Kentucky. And
I also think that that Dan Hurley's probably overly concerned
with this. But had he made that move, we live
in a world in college basketball now where would have
decimated Yukon. Everything he did at Yukon, it could have
decimated them because he wouldld have gotten a lot of
those players to transfer immediately to Kentucky and bring all
(04:26):
those players with them, which you know, maybe he had
some feelings about doing that, considering the opportunity of Yukon
gave him the success they've had, et cetera. Maybe not
who knows, but now the Lakers as well. And so
I look at this and just go, all right, maybe
I'm messed up because I keep looking at this thinking like,
is this not the Lakers? Is this not like one
of those story franchises you have, you know, shows about
(04:49):
movies about I mean, is this not the one that
if you could bring it back to being at the
top of the NBA, you would be king in that realm?
Speaker 4 (04:58):
Which leads me to think if because I think those things.
Speaker 5 (05:01):
Are right, I think it's more of a matter of,
you know, whatever was offered to him and whatever the
situation that's presented isn't to his liking. And I don't
know if that was the contract, if they you know,
couldn't pay him significantly more than he was getting from
Yukon in order to persuade him not to be there.
I've heard, you know, people talk about the Stydingham tax
(05:23):
and maybe that plays a factor, even though let's be real,
it's not like Connecticut doesn't have high taxes too, you know,
I've heard people throughout that theory. I wonder though, how
much Lebron his impact plays a role in Yeah, you
might interview with Rob Polenka, but at the end of
the day, it's still Lebron behind the scenes, pulling the strings.
Speaker 6 (05:44):
I don't think he takes the interview if he wasn't
comfortable with the Lebron James scenario.
Speaker 3 (05:50):
See, I think you.
Speaker 4 (05:51):
Take it to figure out what that scenario is.
Speaker 6 (05:54):
I think you find out before you I think you
have a good idea before you fly out, and yeah, maybe,
but but.
Speaker 5 (06:01):
You've got to hear them to and ask those questions,
those pointed questions, like you could you could talk to
Rich Paul, you could talk to even Lebron, But when
you go out there, you're gonna be talking to all
the people to the organization, you know, whether it's Jennie
Buss or lat polink or anyone. You're looking him dead
in the face and you're saying, all right, what is
the situation here, because whatever, until you've gathered, you want
(06:24):
to confirm and you want to see what they say,
how they react, what their answer is. I just I
think the general the general pointer question is like, I
just wonder how big of a factor that is in
this whole decision making process to turn this job down.
Speaker 3 (06:41):
Yeah, I don't know.
Speaker 6 (06:42):
I would just venture to say, I would just venture
to say he probably did some type of information gathering
before it got to the point of saying that I'm
going to entertain.
Speaker 3 (06:54):
It just came.
Speaker 6 (06:55):
It just seemed like it came so quickly, the idea
of him getting this job. Everybody's talking about Reddick getting
the job. Reddick Reddick, Reddick, Redick, Boom Hurley.
Speaker 3 (07:05):
Hurley wasn't even on the odds list.
Speaker 6 (07:07):
Remember we read it off that it wasn't anyone's radar.
So something had to be happening behind the scenes that
people weren't totally aware of what was taking place. And
to the to the tune of him actually going to
see what it is that he was going to get
himself into.
Speaker 3 (07:25):
To your point, Q.
Speaker 6 (07:27):
But I just think in the end, when you measure
it out, and he weighed out, it was going to
come down to was he comfortable leaving what he's created
for this major opportunity at the NBA level or at
the University of Kentucky, or do you stay put where
it is that you created your systems.
Speaker 3 (07:46):
You have your your you know, you have your way.
Speaker 6 (07:48):
Of doing things and it's been successful, and you got
to ask yourself the question. I don't I don't know
his family situation. I don't know. There's there's probably a
lot more factors that are involved than just the idea
of going to the Lakers versus staying at Yukon. In
terms of coaching, there's probably more, but just face value.
Speaker 3 (08:10):
Don't you feel like it's just a more.
Speaker 6 (08:12):
Stable opportunity for him to have longevity versus taking a
chance and a risk even though it's high high reward,
or it's super high reward, but it's super.
Speaker 3 (08:24):
High risk as well.
Speaker 6 (08:26):
I think that that might have been I don't think
that it was anything else other other than that in
the end, like high risk, high reward, Like but I
did that already with Yukon, and I've built this so
I would just stay here.
Speaker 4 (08:42):
Which is actually why I think it makes more of
the case of leaving.
Speaker 5 (08:44):
Like look at Nick Saban, for example, when's the national
championship at LSU. Entertains the ability to go to the
Miami Dolphins. That doesn't work out, comes back, builds up bigger, better,
and the greatest coach of all time at college football.
So to that point, actually, I would actually make the
case that it makes more of a sense to be
able to then leave and go explore that and hey,
if you crash and burn, all right, whatever, I know
(09:05):
I can build this back up at the college level.
Speaker 4 (09:07):
I've already done it.
Speaker 5 (09:08):
I've already had those dominant team back to back years
we've ever seen in the NCAA tournament. I look at
it this way, and maybe I don't know if we
have music for a conspiracy theory.
Speaker 3 (09:19):
Do we have that?
Speaker 5 (09:22):
Does anyone have Robert Stack in a trench coat somewhere
walking in a dark alley with some steam billowing out.
Speaker 6 (09:28):
Like, okay, give us, give us the conspiracy the.
Speaker 5 (09:32):
Well, LaVar, you bring up a good point in the
sense of if he's doing all this data analysis and
everything beforehand, it makes me think this It makes me
think that maybe he was the candidate all along for
the Lakers organization, for a guy like Rob Polenka. He
(09:53):
was there, golden goose. He was the guy that they
ultimately really want it. But it wasn't this the guy
that Lebron James really wanted. And it's why you kept
hearing JJ Reddick, and it's why you kept hearing all
these reports that it's basically a done deal until after
the NBA Finals, when Redick's done, you know, serving out
his media commitment. Maybe there's some coaches too, he was
(10:16):
gonna kind of evaluate look at he he wants to
bring on his staff. Till after that was all the reporting,
and then Dan Hurley's name pops up.
Speaker 2 (10:23):
So it was Lebron counterpunching, not the Lakers counterpunching.
Speaker 4 (10:27):
Well, it would have been the Lakers LA counter punching.
Speaker 5 (10:31):
Len bring in Dan Hurley as the last second, trying
to make a last ditch effort and saying, maybe they
had said to Lebron, hey, if we can get this guy,
let's go bring this guy in, and Lebron's like, all right,
do whatever you want to do. But at the end
of the day, he comes out there, he does the interview.
I think he looks at the situation says no, no,
(10:51):
this has Lebron's fingers all over. I can't have the
autonomy that I want to be the coach here and
do the things I'd like to do, So I'm out.
I'm going back to Yukon. Maybe that was more of
the conspiracy theorists. You've got two different head coaches that
are being put out there in the media because you've
got two different people behind the scenes trying to make
it happen.
Speaker 6 (11:13):
I have a conspiracy theory to add to keep the
stack music going, to keep going because Lebron James wants
JJ Reddick, and JJ Reddick wants Lebron James, and Bronni
James wants both of them. When Danny Hurley came out
to beautiful Los Angeles, California, there was a suspicious man
(11:38):
that followed Danny Hurley around during the course of his visit.
In time as he went to the Strand and went
to Manhattan Beach to see the area, and went to
visit Rob Low look alike what's his name, Palinka, and
that man finally revealed himself to Danny Hurley as a
(12:00):
man with special skills skills that would, let's just say,
be used if he decided to in fact accept this
LA Lakers job. And now that he has not accepted
the job, his job is done and JJ Reddick will
(12:20):
be the head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers.
Speaker 2 (12:23):
Bam, I'm listening. I mean, since we're going here, i'd.
Speaker 4 (12:28):
Also that might just be like a theory, you know.
Speaker 2 (12:32):
I'd also like to share my conspiracy theory. I mean,
so I do one, I'll do one here. I don't
think that the interview actually happened.
Speaker 6 (12:42):
What I think, Wow, now that is conspiracy theory.
Speaker 3 (12:47):
Yeah, he didn't walk on the moon now.
Speaker 4 (12:49):
Like a UFO or something.
Speaker 2 (12:50):
I believe that Dan Hurley intended to meet with the Lakers.
He intended to go to the Crypto dot com to
meet with the Lakers, but he couldn't get into the crib.
He couldn't get in there because there were too many
sleeping bags and tents out in front and he had
(13:11):
no way to get to the front door. And he said,
you know what, I'm going back to Connecticut. This is
too much for me. Thus, JJ Reddick is still in
the running to be the head coach of the LA
Lakers and.
Speaker 3 (13:22):
To put a cherry on top of you.
Speaker 6 (13:23):
Mate, sure that he checked the Weather Channel to see
what the weather would be, flying back and hanging out
in Connecticut.
Speaker 5 (13:31):
Yeah, yeah, channel looks a little overrated.
Speaker 3 (13:36):
It does it. Yeah not to some people.
Speaker 7 (13:41):
That work.
Speaker 4 (13:42):
I mean, if you were gonna say, and I would
say suspicious.
Speaker 6 (13:45):
Bba bb A drizzy, well they might not.
Speaker 3 (13:55):
RABBI guess it from all that corn bred.
Speaker 7 (14:06):
Ooh yeah, yeah.
Speaker 2 (14:12):
Well listen, it is Two Pros and a Cup of

Am five to seven e La Sports also a Fox
(15:50):
college football analyst, Pee, what's happening?
Speaker 4 (15:52):
Good morning?
Speaker 7 (15:54):
Hello, Hello, good morning to you, Good.
Speaker 3 (15:56):
Morning, Hello back, good morning.
Speaker 7 (15:58):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (15:58):
Petros, your reaction to the fiasco that was the hunt
for Dan Hurley by the Los Angeles Lakers.
Speaker 3 (16:08):
Oh wow.
Speaker 10 (16:11):
You know, I knew we were going to talk about this,
but I didn't know how to quite approach it. I mean,
first of all, did it catch you off guard?
Speaker 3 (16:27):
Yeah? Nobody expected it.
Speaker 4 (16:30):
Can I put it this way? Petros?
Speaker 5 (16:32):
My thought on it was, it's the Lakers. You know,
it's one of the most storied franchises in sports, and
he's won back to back national championships the college sports world.
It seems a bit chaotic to the point where I mean,
if there was ever a time where you want to,
you know, jump ship to make an excuse the jump.
Speaker 4 (16:52):
Ship, that would be it.
Speaker 5 (16:54):
And it just it feels like I'm not saying he
won't get the opportunity to get in the future, but
it's the Lakers, and so I at least thought he
would contemplate it longer than the twenty four hours where
he flies out, he interviews, flies back, and.
Speaker 4 (17:11):
It's done, like it's that quick of a decision.
Speaker 5 (17:14):
Maybe there was more going on behind the scenes for
a longer period of time, but that was what was
surprising to me.
Speaker 10 (17:18):
Now, LaVar, you're an East Coast guy, right, you were
born and raised on the East Coast, Yes, sir, Yeah,
and I'm not, you know, I have no East Coast
roots really, or flavor or anything like that. People think
that I'm from the East Coast. They used to a
(17:40):
lot when I was younger, but I'm not. And it's
funny because we were talking about it when the news broke,
and my radio partner was really excited and they're finally
sticking it to Lebron and telling him to pound sand
and all this stuff's gonna happen. And I saw a
picture of his wife, Dan Hurley's wife, and she's a
(18:04):
Greek American whose last name is like Sadai's or something
like that. I got to check again, and she has
the map of Thessalo Nikiya on her face, like she
looks like a real Greek woman. And I was like,
there's no way she's coming to live in Manhattan Beach.
There is no freaking way, Like you can look like
(18:27):
that and be Greek and be born out here and
you're just stuck, and you go to my church, the
Saint Catharine's Church in Redondo, if you're a South Bay type.
But I just I saw her face, and I know
the level of Greek food and the East Coast stuff
that people expect that are from the East Coast, and
you're not going to get it here. So the wife
(18:50):
being so Greek and East Coast e was kind of
an angle.
Speaker 7 (18:54):
And also, I mean, I don't care if it was
if they.
Speaker 10 (18:57):
Low balled him or they didn't low ball him, or
it's an iconic franchise or what. Here's a guy, Dan
Hurley who's got a pretty healthy ego, right, seems that way,
and he's got his own way of doing things. A
lot of these fiery college guys who are coaching guys
(19:18):
to try to get to the NBA are not as
successful when they're in the NBA because they're super fiery,
and the NBA guys they just don't listen in that
kind of way. You just don't coach them in that way.
It hasn't worked out for a lot of guys over
the years. Rick Patino, John Caliper, I mean, the list
goes on and on of fiery college coaches who have
(19:40):
had an adverse kind of effect at the next level.
But to me, the elephant in the room is Lebron James, Like,
who wants to go? Coaches don't live in a vacuum.
Coaches support each other, actually a lot more than a
lot of professions do.
Speaker 7 (20:00):
And I'll tell you why.
Speaker 10 (20:02):
Because they're always getting fired, and they're always watching each
other get fired.
Speaker 7 (20:06):
And of course they.
Speaker 10 (20:07):
Have guaranteed money and this and that and their contracts
and all the things that made it incongruous about the
transfer portal and stuff like that over the years, But
coaches have watched Lebron James undermine everybody there for a decade,
and on different teams, the eye rolling, the bumping of
Eric Spolstra, trying to get Spolstra fired, and pat Riley
(20:31):
wouldn't do it, all these stories from over the years,
and then we're supposed to sit there and act like
he's not involved at all in the process. And why
would you want to go deal with that? If you're
going to be in the NBA and you have all
this scrutiny, you're the best coach in college and everybody
loves you. Suddenly you're going to become a terrible coach again,
and Lebron's going to take the whiteboard from your hands
(20:53):
and start drawing up plays like he did with Darvin Ham.
Speaker 7 (20:57):
That's not cool.
Speaker 10 (20:58):
I wouldn't want to go deal with that for any
amount of money and move my angry wife to the
West Coast.
Speaker 7 (21:04):
So I.
Speaker 10 (21:07):
Didn't see it as much of a possibility when people
were talking about it. And yeah, there is that element
of it. It's the Lakers. They're gonna throw money at
it and all this. We've talked to every expert, from
Steve Lapis on the East Coast to people embedded with
the Lakers, to every NBA insider you can think of
in the last few days, and the general consensus is
(21:29):
that a lot of them saw behind the curtain and
the way things are being run, which is what I've
told you for years about the Lakers. I mean, just
think about the way Magic joined them and then left
and all of this dysfunction since doctor Buss has died. Unfortunately,
I didn't, I mean I just didn't. I didn't think
he liked to seeing how the sausage was being made
(21:50):
out here. So all of that said, where do they
go from here? Which is the way, that's clear.
Speaker 4 (21:57):
What is the next steps there? They go back to
JJ Reddick.
Speaker 5 (22:01):
I mean, does JJ Reddick won it after I guess
knowing that Dan Hurley was apparently the number one option.
Speaker 7 (22:08):
Well that was what the like.
Speaker 10 (22:10):
The funniest thing about this is the information war, right,
and it's between two guys. It's Adrian Warjanowski, who we
used to put on the show literally twenty years ago.
Speaker 2 (22:23):
I was gonna ask you what do you make of
his his change since you guys used to add him
have him on B.
Speaker 7 (22:28):
Well, I mean.
Speaker 10 (22:31):
He sold his soul to the devil, but the price
wasn't cheap and he knows that God bless him. I
mean he came on our show once and said that
everything about ESPN discussed him, everything that the way they
do business.
Speaker 7 (22:45):
Like crazy stuff.
Speaker 10 (22:47):
And he took the job, which is fine because that's
who the NBA is in bed with, and he is
the sanctioned information guy, right, kind of like Schefter is
this ancient information guy for the NFL, and you know,
we go so on and so forth. Everybody's got a
(23:08):
guy and John Hayman for MLB, and it's it's really
interesting because Adrian has the whole league except for the
Clutch Sports people. They've always hated him. He's always hated them.
I mean, I might be speaking out of school, but
this is true as far as I understand, way out
(23:30):
in the periphery, and it's been a long time like that.
So and Adrian, if you look at things, always breaks
every story unless it pertains to the Lebron people and
Lebron's camp and Clutch Sports. So with that being said,
this was really crazy because it was Sharon versus Adrian.
(23:53):
Sham SHARONI Balloonia, and I swear I love Sham Sharania,
but if you ever met him in person, yeah, he smells.
Speaker 7 (24:05):
Like so much Drekarna war Oh.
Speaker 10 (24:09):
I like that smell though, but it smell you smell
him like wow, information coming like long before you see him.
Speaker 4 (24:17):
I like that.
Speaker 7 (24:18):
The Sharon or Ballooner, Yeah, and they have, Yeah, they have.
Speaker 10 (24:23):
Maybe they'll make a movie about their relationship someday because
we're so desperate for stories. But Sharon was Adrian's protege
and Adrian was at Yahoo, and then Adrian left and
the Sharoon became the Clutch Sports guy and they battle
and the Sharon Ballooner his whole uh, his whole angle
was something to the effect of, well, you know, they
(24:44):
were never serious about Danny Hurley. It was always JJ Reddick,
and you know they talked, sure, they talked to some
other people, and it's like, wait a minute. They offered
him the job. They offered him the job, and he
turned it down. And that is the amazing thing about this.
I think I made this analogy on the show. Did
you guys see Ben her or any of those old
(25:05):
movies where they had like those old Roman ships. It's
been a while, and like there's all those guys chained
in the bottom of the ship rowing row whip and
they're like row and the guy hitting the drum and
this and that, And to me, like that's like.
Speaker 7 (25:18):
Lebron like directing his media.
Speaker 10 (25:21):
Roll this way, roll JJ Redick, roll roll, you know,
and uh and now and the ship started spinning with
this hurly thing, and now they're trying to spin it
back and they're pulling hard on those oars and they're
trying to just they're trying to make it okay to
hire JJ Reddick or Brego or whoever. And the truth is,
(25:43):
who wants this job to go sit there and be
nailed by the king like the rest of us.
Speaker 4 (25:49):
Doesn't that pain you to admit that or say that?
Speaker 5 (25:52):
I mean, as as good as this organization has been,
and I think what it means the NBA.
Speaker 10 (25:58):
Yeah, well they have they have poor ownership and they
they look when you don't know where the buck stops.
And you could say this about the Lakers with Kobe too.
People have had the same argument for years, but it's
much worse with Lebron because of the mercenary like nature
of the way he's kind of done business over the years.
(26:19):
For people that are naysayers, they're very, very aware of
the chronology of all the things Lebron has tried to
pull off, also known as leed Judice. But you guys
have heard leed Judice, haven't you? Were a lot of
things led betrayer of the Son of Man. I mean,
(26:42):
it's just kind of sad that it's kind of come
to this, but this is exactly what they've bred over
the years. They've just bred dysfunction, and it's always bad
when you don't.
Speaker 7 (26:57):
Know who's making the decisions. Right.
Speaker 10 (27:00):
You could look at Rob Polenka and say, oh my god,
look at all the terrible things he's done when he
was the GM, and yeah, he's been pretty weak and
they've made a lot of bad decisions and those bad
decisions have cost them consistency and continuity and all those
things we talk about that are important when you're building
a team in any sport.
Speaker 7 (27:19):
But who makes the decisions? Do we know?
Speaker 10 (27:24):
I mean, is it Lebron, is it Polenka? Is it
some amalgamation of that? What does Genie do? Does she
do anything? What about Kurt Rambus and Linda Rambas and
all these people walking around that have influence? Jay Moore
is in the building. I mean, there's all these there's
all these question marks like the Riddlers suit, And I
(27:45):
think I think if you're going into if you're Dan
Hurley and you have all this momentum of all the
positive things in our world that bring that success comes with,
then why would you sit there and do that? Regardless
of a brand or or anything like that. It's like
putting on a trash bag and it has a Louis
(28:06):
Vuitton logo on it? Why do you want to do it?
You know what I mean? So I think ultimately it
came down to.
Speaker 2 (28:12):
That, p do you think if we want to get
to the bottom of this stuff, like which source should
we trust more? Should we trust Woes or Sham's colonia?
Like which do you think is the better one to
go with? As far as tracking the development really wants
of this Lakers head coaching.
Speaker 4 (28:29):
He really wants you to do pet He's got a real.
Speaker 10 (28:31):
Heavy smell of cologne as well. I heard he once
cleared out a whole first class.
Speaker 2 (28:36):
Flag Listen, cologne, Like cologne is really disrespected by a
lot of people.
Speaker 3 (28:42):
I think it's tremendous.
Speaker 4 (28:43):
I'd rather people wear too much cologne than the other way.
Speaker 3 (28:47):
Agreed.
Speaker 10 (28:47):
I have allergies and perfume and cologne really set me off.
Speaker 5 (28:51):
But would you wouldn't you rather smell that than a
bunch of bo and like stench? Do you feel like,
I don't know, I mean yesterday kind of cologne to
me is like it's made with like the anal sack
of cats. Like it's gross the stuff they put into.
Speaker 2 (29:12):
Okay, well, all right, but what about like a guy
like Matthew McConaughey. Apparently he doesn't wear anything, no deodorant,
no call like Brad Pitt.
Speaker 10 (29:20):
There's a lot of a lot of movie stars smell
really bad.
Speaker 7 (29:24):
I'm not kidding. I'm not kidding.
Speaker 10 (29:27):
Because they're like so popular, they think they're above showering.
Speaker 7 (29:31):
I'm not kidding. I'm not joking.
Speaker 2 (29:34):
Who's the worst smelling celebrity you've been around?
Speaker 4 (29:36):
Me?
Speaker 10 (29:38):
Any any singer or any of them? Brad Pitt smelled
really bad from all reports.
Speaker 7 (29:48):
The guy Brandon.
Speaker 10 (29:49):
Walsh, Jason Priestley, the guy that was in nine two
one ozer lived with Brad Pitt for a while when
they were like fledgling actors, and he said he doesn't
remember him showering once. I mean, he's like that guy
a national geographic. It's got like eighty years of dirt
caked up. Ah, this perpetual crotch rot. Yeah, but you know,
who to trust is very interesting question. I know you
(30:11):
just wanted to say, your your funny thing.
Speaker 3 (30:12):
What do you mean Sham's colonia?
Speaker 7 (30:17):
Who to trust? Is very interesting?
Speaker 10 (30:19):
I think whenever it comes to media, the better question
to ask is who benefits? Right, whenever you see a
story and who broke the story, you can usually trace
who benefits from the story.
Speaker 7 (30:30):
Breaking there and why is it breaking there?
Speaker 10 (30:33):
And usually it has something to do with some relationship
or sticking it to somebody else. And that was an
interesting part of this because the comparison was made by
more than a few, especially here in LA because like,
the Chargers have had a terrible reputation for years right
as far as hiring coaches and spending money, and finally
(30:55):
they just threw up their hands and threw a gigantic
Brinks truck at Harbaugh's face right like an anvil, and
hired his you know, hired his GM, hired everybody that
Harbaugh could ever want.
Speaker 7 (31:11):
But why did Harbaugh take the Chargers job?
Speaker 10 (31:13):
Deep down, probably because he wanted to stick it to
the people at Michigan, right, same reason he took the
job with Michigan because he wanted to stick it to
the people at the forty nine Ers and he was
having that big fight with the GM guy and all that,
and they got their guy because Harbaugh had a rough
(31:36):
situation at Michigan and he couldn't trust what was going on.
And maybe that was the thinking that went into this.
I don't think Danny Hurley wants to stick it to
anybody in stores, right, I mean, he's he's happy and
this might have just been a leverage move to begin with,
but it is sad for the Lakers because it's embarrassing.
And then you see all the people that carry water
for Lebron, like it's not hard to trace this stuff.
(31:59):
You saw the wind horsed headline yesterday. I mean, would
you rather be doused in cologne or look like a
giant toad?
Speaker 7 (32:08):
It's tough. Hey, some people find that attractive. I got
no problem. I like the BBWs, but uh.
Speaker 10 (32:16):
Wind The wind horse headline was something to the effect of, like,
Lakers are embarrassed now, but.
Speaker 7 (32:22):
They could still fix this. It's like, you know, that's
what's more interesting to me, not.
Speaker 4 (32:31):
What are they gonna do with Lebron retires? Hire him?
Speaker 10 (32:34):
Yeah, hire him and JJ Reddick to sit there and
give us revisionist history. Lebron could tell us he he
discovered outcasts, he discovered migos. First, got to start saying, riz,
you guys know WHATRIZ is. You guys don't know WHATZ is.
(32:56):
You guys don't know what a rizzler is, LeVar.
Speaker 3 (33:00):
I'm letting y'all go, man, you.
Speaker 7 (33:01):
Don't know what a wrestler is.
Speaker 3 (33:03):
Of course I do. I'm listening to y'all though.
Speaker 7 (33:05):
A guy with charisma or a girl there you go.
That's what the youth says.
Speaker 6 (33:10):
You can also smoke them a smoker.
Speaker 10 (33:14):
I thought that was a glizzy like a hot dog.
Well yeah, like that's like that Fourth of July day,
you know, where everybody eats a hot dog Joey Chestnut controversy,
people wear a T shirt that says it's a bad
day to be a glzzy.
Speaker 2 (33:28):
Yes, by the way, yeah, are you a distraught over
Joey Chestnut no longer being in the Nathan to hot
dog eating contest? Pee?
Speaker 10 (33:38):
I was super surprised at how slow of immediate day
it must have been story, you know, I mean, ultimately,
I'm an American. I enjoy American activities. I deride un
American activities like drone shows as opposed to fireworks and
things like that. But what it comes down to it,
(34:01):
and it's not like I'm the most demure, It's not
like I'm Jeremy Irons having high tea in Middle London.
But when it comes down to it, you turn on
the hot dog eating contest and it's gross, Like I
don't want it.
Speaker 3 (34:14):
It's gross, it's disgusting.
Speaker 4 (34:15):
I don't want to.
Speaker 10 (34:15):
Watch anybody eat, especially like that. And the fact that
all the bread has to be dipped in water and
like like a spongy bread like materials sucked down while
you're eating these.
Speaker 7 (34:26):
It's it's really.
Speaker 10 (34:28):
Gross to watch everybody eat. But a great American tradition.
Speaker 7 (34:32):
No doubt.
Speaker 2 (34:32):
All right, Petros, who you got?
Speaker 3 (34:34):
All right?
Speaker 2 (34:34):
Last one for you in a in an eating contest?
Do you have Joey Chestnut or lard ass from Standards?
Speaker 5 (34:42):
Hey, Petro's before you answer this? Does this kind of
feel like you know one of those you know?
Speaker 4 (34:47):
Would you rather? Or are you in? Or are you out?
Speaker 3 (34:49):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (34:49):
You notice where that comes from? Petros? Yeah, they noticed.
Now you're now you're hearing where it comes from.
Speaker 3 (34:54):
Yeah, So who you got, Petros? Lard ass from stand
by Me? Or Joey Chestnut?
Speaker 7 (34:59):
I'm not I'm jerking the wheel. Do you know who
wrote stand by Me?
Speaker 3 (35:03):
Uh?
Speaker 7 (35:04):
And think? Oh you a whole son of a god?
Damn it? Yeah?
Speaker 4 (35:13):
God that business off.
Speaker 7 (35:16):
Do you know what it was called?
Speaker 3 (35:19):
Not stand by Me? All the body?
Speaker 10 (35:21):
Yeah, damn stepped on your neck?
Speaker 4 (35:26):
Is this the movie stand by Me? No?
Speaker 10 (35:31):
No, the one that's written on a balloon Brady, Yeah, I.
Speaker 7 (35:38):
Tell you guys this story.
Speaker 5 (35:39):
Yes, please educate us.
Speaker 10 (35:42):
We used to have this violinist at the restaurant. Don't
be that way, Brady, don't get that way.
Speaker 4 (35:47):
Was it, Ben King?
Speaker 7 (35:48):
He said, Stephen King, no is Stephen King. Ben e
King says, they got you. Okay, Wow, you should have
kept it quiet. You exposed yourself right there.
Speaker 4 (36:00):
Because I'm looking up. I have no idea. We don't
talk about the sixties and seventies much.
Speaker 7 (36:03):
Petro, Well, you know what, maybe you should dive in
because you're you're listening for so Ben, HER's a great story.
It is.
Speaker 10 (36:15):
I'm not saying it's not. By don't get many of
those references. What does it tell you my story? Yes,
we used to have this violinist at my dad's restaurant
named Giovanni. And of course, you know, like most violinists,
he was high strung and he hated this one Greek
(36:36):
bus boy, a high school kid from South Torrence High
School named Chris Captain, which was cut down from Capel
Tanaki's and his father was like in charge of the
choir at the church, so that's why he.
Speaker 7 (36:47):
Had a job at the restaurant.
Speaker 10 (36:48):
And for some reason Giovanni hated him. And uh, you
know this is before cell phones and all that. The
restaurant had phones, and Giovanni was on the restaurant phone
and he was very upset. There was something uh going on,
and he hung up the phone.
Speaker 7 (37:01):
He said, there's been an accident. You know, my wife
and son were in an.
Speaker 10 (37:05):
Accident and uh, captain, captain goes a car accident And
Giovanni turned to him and said, no, balloon accident and
he started choking him.
Speaker 7 (37:18):
Was this like a hot air balloon went down? Well, no,
it was a car accident.
Speaker 2 (37:25):
It was a balloon accent. Okay, anyway, well listen, pee,
we appreciate it. No, listen, I'm no, I'm tired of everybody.
Speaker 6 (37:34):
Oh come on, I want to be tired of me
because I know you say one word? Why you know
that makes us one word to you. This entire section
makes him self conscious as well. Joan is geek out
over you. I have not said one, so you can't.
Speaker 5 (37:49):
Be Hey, Petros, how do you feel about LeVar saying
he would whoop the crap out of rock Apella?
Speaker 4 (37:54):
The group that's saying, Carmen san Diego.
Speaker 3 (37:57):
I mean I would, Wait a minute, I mean I would.
Speaker 7 (38:01):
What do we have to say in San diego Nothing.
Speaker 5 (38:04):
We actually played it as the theme of where is
Aaron Rodgers right now?
Speaker 6 (38:09):
But that big have something against the way they sounded
singing the song Peach.
Speaker 3 (38:14):
He watched it at once.
Speaker 7 (38:19):
I went to a concert last night.
Speaker 10 (38:20):
I was out till midnight, and for me, that's like
the equivalent of like not leaving a whorehouse for three
months like that. It was a real adventure last night.
I used to go out a lot anyway, A little
more odam is what that is?
Speaker 7 (38:38):
Yeah, the face down dead and.
Speaker 1 (38:42):
Be sure to catch live editions of Two Pros and
a Cup of Joe with Brady Quinn, LeVar Arrington and
Jonas Knox weekdays at six a m.
Speaker 7 (38:51):
Eastern three am Pacific.
Speaker 2 (38:53):
We do this when there's these big golf events because
it's like, do we want to sit here and try
and break down who's actually gonna win? And it's either
Scotty Scheffler or somebody you've probably never heard of, which,
by the way, I think the latest odds I saw
Scheffler is like a plus two to eighty, which if
you just think about that at a major tournament, like
that's pretty dominant that he's at that point in his
(39:14):
career to where it's like if he doesn't win, like
it's teetering close to even money, which is not normally
the case.
Speaker 3 (39:22):
Tiger Woods.
Speaker 2 (39:23):
Maybe the last golfer who was in sort of the
vicinity of this being the overwhelming favorite to win all
these tournaments. But we decide, all right, well, we've got names.
So Lee kind of threw out a little twist on this.
There's five people that'll be drawing names from the hat,
even though there's six of us, which would make it
(39:43):
a little bit difficultly to go to a piece if
we've got ten names in the hat.
Speaker 3 (39:47):
So we get out of it.
Speaker 4 (39:48):
We get out of why aren't we doing everyone' drawing
a name?
Speaker 2 (39:50):
Because Lee said we could do two a piece if
we wanted to, or do we just do one? So
how do you guys feel about just doing I'm good
with one. I don't fill out two brackets. I do
one during the NCAA tournament. I'm good with one name.
If you guys are.
Speaker 5 (40:05):
I'm good with one, I don't. I don't think me
drawing two gives me really that much better of a chance,
because I would say outside of the top six. If
we're doing it based on odds.
Speaker 4 (40:15):
I don't know.
Speaker 5 (40:15):
It's tough to think that, like anyone's gonna have a
chance of beating Scheffler some of the favorites on this course.
Speaker 6 (40:22):
I was more curious about did Tom Brady kiss Robert
Kraft in the mouth and his Hall of Fame induction
into the Patriots Hall of Fame induction more so than
I was interested in who's going to win this US Open.
But so with that being said, I'd just rather draw
one name out of the hat and and just or
(40:42):
take Keopka, like I'll take Keopka or a linebacker huh yeah,
the linebacker that doesn't look like a linebacker.
Speaker 3 (40:49):
I'd rather have him, or or just get one name
out of the hat or talking I got.
Speaker 4 (40:54):
One, I got one. Great. Before we get into this,
what network is airing the US Open?
Speaker 3 (41:01):
What is this us us A.
Speaker 4 (41:05):
G And when did that happen?
Speaker 7 (41:08):
I don't know.
Speaker 6 (41:09):
No, they're going in different directions these these Uh.
Speaker 5 (41:12):
Here's part of the issue with all these sports being
bought up by different networks is like we have to
look at where to find you.
Speaker 4 (41:19):
I don't think I like that.
Speaker 2 (41:22):
Hey, look man, I just want to go back to
the days where you got thirteen channels. All right, that's it,
just two, four, seven, throw five in there if you
want nine. Yeah, that's fine. Is he going to do that?
That's fine? It was great back in the day. Used
to be TBS watch Braves games on Channel fourteen.
Speaker 4 (41:41):
Who the hell is even doing the commentary for you
for USA?
Speaker 3 (41:44):
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (41:45):
It's on the same network as Monday Night Ross, And
maybe it's like.
Speaker 3 (41:49):
One of their commentators, like like AJ and Pat is that.
Speaker 6 (41:56):
Would you imagine AJ and Pat calling a golf tournament?
I think it be freaking phenomenal. It'd be way more
into I might watch to hear them. I think we
would be great too, because Q would actually give some
great insight. I mean, people might be offended by me
and they wouldn't want to pay attention to you, so
it might not be as good.
Speaker 2 (42:16):
I don't know lee who's called the golf tournament on
USA right now?
Speaker 9 (42:21):
I'm seeing the announcers on Peacock, which I guess is
USA is well.
Speaker 11 (42:25):
Tom Abbott, Steve Berkowski, Justin Kutcher, Todd Lewis, Oh Cutch, yeah, Couch, Yeah,
there you go, a bunch of others, just.
Speaker 12 (42:35):
As I assumed I'm not interested exactly what I was thinking.
I'm not interested, all right. So we want to give
this a spin.
Speaker 2 (42:47):
Do we have a live studio band ready to good
to hear from good old Kenny Loggins, long as it
ain't that that nass.
Speaker 3 (42:56):
Banger after banger, all right.
Speaker 2 (42:59):
So we've got the names of the hat.
Speaker 3 (43:03):
Now whose hat is this? League?
Speaker 13 (43:06):
This is a hat I found in the kitchen that's
been sitting there for like two days.
Speaker 3 (43:11):
Loretta gave us.
Speaker 9 (43:12):
Loretta gave us the sniff test, though she says it
is clean. Always got to do the sniff test, all right.
Speaker 6 (43:20):
So mullet is in trouble. I've never smelled a lice
in my life. Never never had a smell.
Speaker 3 (43:26):
All right.
Speaker 2 (43:27):
So we are off and running here. Look, this is
this is our picks for the us. Open out of
a hat that may or may not have some sort
of a fungus on the brim.
Speaker 3 (43:37):
From whoever had it? So Lee, who wants to Laura?
Do you want to do the honors? Yes? And you
have to. You have to pronounce the name on the
air as well too.
Speaker 9 (43:51):
I'll go with this one. Whoa Rory McLure Roy.
Speaker 3 (43:59):
Gosh, Roy McRoy.
Speaker 2 (44:02):
They christ. I always pick him. I get him every
single tournament. So Lee, you want to go next, you
go next, Lee? Come on, all right, he's not going next.
He is hobbling over to hand over the hat to
everybody here. Get he looks like he rode a bike
with no seat in the studio. All right, there we go,
see this we got here, Ludwig Iburg. Okay, yeah, love, hey,
(44:31):
love big von Beethoven. I'll take that plus two thousand.
No shot he wins. In fact, in fact, there's a
better chance Beethoven wins this weekend than this guy.
Speaker 3 (44:44):
Is plus eleven hundred better than yours.
Speaker 2 (44:46):
Yes, yes, yes, yeah, you've got a good Lee's making
his way over to Eddie studio.
Speaker 4 (44:52):
How's a taking this?
Speaker 3 (44:54):
He's really in a lot of you got to see
him walk? Come on?
Speaker 4 (44:58):
Can we film this then? Posted on so media?
Speaker 3 (45:00):
I don't know if he wants to. All right, Eddie Garcia,
Who's who's your.
Speaker 7 (45:05):
Big Xander Shopley? All right?
Speaker 4 (45:13):
Sheffer last week he's what is it?
Speaker 2 (45:15):
Ten to one? Eddie got plus one thousand? There, that's correct,
all right, he's the second favorite next to us.
Speaker 4 (45:20):
He's the number two.
Speaker 7 (45:20):
In the world.
Speaker 3 (45:21):
Though I'm not mistaken, right, Uh, Scotty Cheffler.
Speaker 2 (45:24):
All right, Lee, do you want to go next to? You
want LeVar to reach you out big arm? You could
go next. I want to go last. I want you to.
Speaker 6 (45:31):
I want to have the chance to get Sheffler and
still there? All right, longest steal.
Speaker 9 (45:36):
Alright, alright, Brady, here we go.
Speaker 3 (45:40):
All right, you got it? I think you got I
got it.
Speaker 7 (45:42):
He's got it.
Speaker 9 (45:43):
Ye just Thomas plus thirty.
Speaker 7 (45:49):
Great, that's.
Speaker 6 (45:55):
You're part of my people. Now you got you got arrested.
Come on of us. I need to have you as
my guy.
Speaker 3 (46:02):
Come on, Scottie Cheffer.
Speaker 4 (46:11):
And we didn't get you to.
Speaker 5 (46:12):
Give us a hockey preview for tonight at some point
in the show.
Speaker 4 (46:15):
I'm ready when you're all right, I got questions for you.
Speaker 3 (46:19):
All right, Leeve, what do we got?
Speaker 13 (46:21):
All right, I'm reaching in. I'll leave LeVar best for last.
Here we go.
Speaker 11 (46:25):
I've got Oh boy, I got Colin murricaa hell come
on wait?
Speaker 4 (46:30):
Why did you say it? Like?
Speaker 7 (46:31):
Come on, I'm.
Speaker 9 (46:32):
Still alive, Colin Murca, Okay.
Speaker 4 (46:35):
Now what's wrong with you?
Speaker 7 (46:36):
Do?
Speaker 4 (46:38):
Just say Colin Morikawa.
Speaker 9 (46:41):
Colin Marie Kawa, that's what he said. You're not ordering food.
Speaker 4 (46:49):
You don't have to talk fast and do it like that.
Speaker 6 (46:51):
You know, is that the nuts you sprinkle on topa
top of a cupcake?
Speaker 2 (46:58):
So so so longest arm last, here goes LeVar.
Speaker 3 (47:02):
Come on, all right, here we go.
Speaker 8 (47:06):
Over here come ont saying with the last one?
Speaker 4 (47:09):
Here we go.
Speaker 9 (47:13):
You know who it is?
Speaker 3 (47:14):
Who is it?
Speaker 9 (47:15):
Broad shoulders, mister Brooks Kepka got it?
Speaker 4 (47:19):
He got it?
Speaker 7 (47:20):
It was got it Brooks Brooks. All right.
Speaker 2 (47:28):
Yeah, by the way, good to see Brooks taking time
away from drinking at Panthers games to go to a
golf tournament.
Speaker 3 (47:38):
Hey, relax, brou relax, that's my guy. They showed him.
Hey relax, that's my guy. He was crippled at a
Panthers game last year. All right, but hey, somebody's got it.
Was he on the sideline? Did he have a uniform
on a box Florida Panthers?
Speaker 4 (47:54):
I would I would discuss it looked like he had.
Speaker 7 (47:57):
Uh, I don't know, gonna be up.
Speaker 2 (48:01):
Yeah, So here's the controversy, because of course this should
happened to us. We were drawing names out of the
hat for the US Open, and nobody picked Scotty Scheffler,
who's the odds on favorite to win the tournament, the
best golfer on the planet.
Speaker 7 (48:21):
This is my nightmare.
Speaker 2 (48:23):
Apparently the reason why nobody picked Scotty Scheffler. Well, the
problem wasn't lee. Lorena got a little bit too over
zealous when she took her name, and she also had
Scotty Scheffler laying on the desk next to her, So
we were basically picking from not the best bunch and
(48:45):
the best batch when we were drawing names.
Speaker 6 (48:47):
I don't think that's funny, Lorena. So I don't even
feel like that's funny.
Speaker 9 (48:52):
Default I get both names.
Speaker 4 (48:55):
That's not how it works.
Speaker 5 (48:56):
I understand, I understand why you would think that way,
but that's not how it works.
Speaker 6 (49:02):
I mean, stole my opportunity away from it. I was
manifesting Scotty Scheffler, and I didn't even have a fair opportunity.
I don't I don't find what you did to be
You're the commissioner. What do we do here?
Speaker 3 (49:17):
How do I think I should get Scotty Scheffler?
Speaker 4 (49:20):
How do you guys just now recognize this? How is
this not recognized sooner?
Speaker 2 (49:23):
Well?
Speaker 13 (49:24):
I looked through the hat afterwards, I was like, oh,
it's funny that nobody picked Scotty Scheffler.
Speaker 9 (49:27):
I like, who's left?
Speaker 13 (49:28):
I was like, we got Victor Hovlin, We've got Tommy Fleetwood,
we got Bryson to Shamba.
Speaker 9 (49:34):
I was but where I was like, did Eddie pick Scotty?
Speaker 13 (49:36):
I was asking because I couldn't quite hear him because
I was waddling around.
Speaker 7 (49:40):
He didn't.
Speaker 3 (49:41):
Yeah, no he did not.
Speaker 13 (49:42):
And and.
Speaker 3 (49:44):
I was like, what happened to Scotty?
Speaker 13 (49:46):
And I look over and we're sitting right next to
the Lorena's Scotty Scheffler's name on the desk.
Speaker 2 (49:52):
That tracks that I am a Paul Dog haunts.
Speaker 5 (49:59):
Yeah, that's so, you know, the combination of Lorena would
usually give us something like this Rena.
Speaker 3 (50:07):
Yeah, yeah, it's you know it's it's it's ritunate.
Speaker 2 (50:11):
So I think, so, uh, Lee, you're the commission What
do we do?
Speaker 3 (50:17):
Do we just wear it? We we eat what we.
Speaker 2 (50:20):
Got and that's and that's that? Or does Lorraina get
Scottie Scheffler too? Like what do you think here?
Speaker 13 (50:27):
We could you can throw Lorena bone and give her
some Scotty Scheffler.
Speaker 9 (50:32):
We can do two. We can do two each we
get I can throw other names in there we could throw.
Speaker 3 (50:36):
Let me tell you something.
Speaker 13 (50:37):
We can throw Tiger Woods in here and then make
it up.
Speaker 3 (50:39):
Let me teach. I quit, I quit. I'm out.
Speaker 4 (50:45):
The top of the at the moment, he is that
he's one. He parted it.
Speaker 3 (50:50):
But yeah, I'm out on Tiger.
Speaker 2 (50:53):
But you think they just showed Phil Michelson. You think, uh,
you think Phil's got money on this event or.
Speaker 7 (51:03):
What.
Speaker 3 (51:03):
I'm just asking the question here. I feel like, you know.
Speaker 4 (51:06):
I don't think it's fair.
Speaker 5 (51:07):
You're it's fun of a guy for his past gambling transgressions.
Speaker 2 (51:11):
So now it's not the time to be judgmental. I'm
at just simply asking a question, that's all. I just
want to know what, you know, what his action looks like.
So that's where we're at. So the bars quit and
Lorena just swiped two names instead of one.
Speaker 3 (51:26):
Unbelievable.
Speaker 7 (51:28):
Can I take Sheffler for this weekend?
Speaker 3 (51:30):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (51:31):
Actually you can because we had a snap foo with
when we were picking.
Speaker 4 (51:34):
When we were picking people. As far as who we're
gonna place, you know, I dot We'll do that.
Speaker 2 (51:40):
Hey, Breer, we we dropped names out of a hat
for us open. Albert Breer gets Scott there is, so
there we go. Put Albert Brier on the list.
