What up sticks, Good morning? How are we feeling good? Yeah?
I feel real good? Yeah yeah.
Speaker 3 (02:10):
Ready to hold your hand on the airplane. See if
we get see if I get any better treatment because
I'm rolling, you know with you?
Speaker 2 (02:17):
Yeah? Yeah. Are we on the same flight, by the way.
Speaker 3 (02:22):
I believe we're in the same flight, just different cabins.
That's all, okay. You know, I'll be a little bit
further back. You'll be a little bit further forward. And
then people will get to see how passive aggressive you
are on this show. Damn yeah. And then they'll wonder
why your handler isn't with you, and I'll wonder the
same thing. But it'll be okay. Like you know, I'm
certain you'll be on your rapid radio and in constant
(02:45):
communication with Lee while you're on the move to Houston.
Speaker 2 (02:49):
Who's my who's my Leslee is going? And is Lee going? No? No,
I don't believe it's okay, yeah, okay, who's my handler?
I don't know what you're getting Lee? What are you
talking to?
Speaker 4 (02:59):
Is your hand?
Speaker 2 (03:01):
Like I've never traveled without Lee before.
Speaker 4 (03:03):
It's just.
Speaker 3 (03:05):
I don't act like it. I just know how it
is when y'all do travel together, we.
Speaker 2 (03:10):
Just get paired up together a lot.
Speaker 1 (03:11):
And and again, you guys have separate groups, and you
people have separate groups that are much more quote unquote
high class high falutin if you will.
Speaker 3 (03:25):
And so and so, I don't keep going ten more dollars.
Speaker 1 (03:30):
And so I'm just you know, I want to make
everybody feel like we're all the same, because we are
all equals. Is the way is the way I look
at life. So that's that's that's what I've gathered.
Speaker 2 (03:41):
Sounds real good, my guy, Yeah, sounds real, real good.
Speaker 1 (03:45):
Here's what doesn't sound good. Uh oh, the circus is
in town, and the circus is heading for Trevor Bank
Stadium in Jacksonville. The Jacksonville Jaguars continue to deliver the goods. Uh,
Trent Balkey right on time, you know, right after all
the top candidates are gone, they decide, you know what,
(04:07):
upon further review what everybody's been talking about, Yeah, maybe
we should part ways with Trent Balkey. So he is
out as Jaguars GM. That's weeks after they stayed with him.
Fired head coach Doug Peterson, and it was just hours
after Bucks offensive coordinator Liam Cohane withdrew his name from
consideration for the job. So, ladies and gentlemen, you're Jacksonville
(04:30):
Jaguars A day late and a bunch of dollars short. Unbelievable.
Speaker 2 (04:37):
I heard.
Speaker 4 (04:38):
I sit here and I'll say, do you guys, remember
when I talked about this.
Speaker 5 (04:43):
As soon as the season was over, you called the
guy they retained, Trent Bulky. I tried telling you, guys,
I'm like, this is going to be an issue, that
this is going to be a huge issue. There were
so many things that I learned in that week leading
into the Week eighteen game, knowing that if they kept
trend Bulky in any position within the organization, they were
(05:06):
not going to be able to find their next head
coach if they moved on from Doug Peterson. Which you
talk to some players and there's a lot of players
who are like, yeah, coach, coach in the issue, someone
else in the building. So it's crazy to me that
(05:26):
these owners in a particular shot con in this case,
who's smart, He's made a ton of money, He's willing
to spend money, he's willing to be patient with people
within his organization, allow someone like ball Key to get
their ear and manipulate them, influence them to the point
where it's the detriment of this organization. And you had
(05:46):
everyone telling you this. I mean, I'm not the only
person saying this. Everyone in the media was talking about this.
There's obviously people in the league circles who were talking
about this. And so not only do you miss out
on Mike Vrabel, the potential of getting him, Ben Jonson
the potential of getting him, Aaron Glenn the potential of
getting him.
Speaker 4 (06:04):
Liam Cohene even says, I'm gonna go back to be
a coordinator.
Speaker 5 (06:08):
You've got a generational talent at quarterback, you've got pieces
on that roster, you've got an owner that's gonna be patient,
that's gonna spend money, and yet you can't get a
head coach because the worst kept secret in the NFL,
which has made very apparent to you you don't want
to listen to. It almost makes shod Con worse for
(06:30):
firing him. Now it's like, well, why do not just
keep him on? I mean, find somebody who's willing to
work with him for a year and if that year stinks,
which it, you know, probably would then fire him after that,
Like like, what's the point of winning now a few
weeks after the fact to be like, oh, yeah, we
probably should.
Speaker 4 (06:47):
Have listened everyone else. I guess it's never too late,
is that how you put it? In this case. It's
just it's never too.
Speaker 2 (06:52):
Late, never too late, never too late, never too late.
I don't know it's too lately.
Speaker 3 (06:59):
I don't know. Man, you know, it's funny. I remember
Trent Bulky. I remember him like I remember talking to him.
I remember being around him in my early early days
in Washington.
Speaker 2 (07:14):
It wasn't in charge.
Speaker 3 (07:15):
I mean, Vinnie Serrado was was the league guy, but
I remember him. I remember. Obviously. Why am I blanking
on his name? He's at ESPN now, well he came later.
But Lewis Ridick Lewis is the name I was looking for.
Ridic was the name. I thought they were a pretty
(07:36):
strong group in terms of scouting, But it's interesting to
find out that personality wise, maybe and and just you know,
playing together in the sandbox in the in the proper
manner has not been one of seemingly his strong suit.
Speaker 2 (07:56):
I just look at teams like.
Speaker 3 (07:58):
Jacksonville and and it's like, Okay, when you have one
person in particular that their name continues to come up
as maybe something that is problematic, you one hundred percent
have to take a strong look at it. Secondly, if
(08:18):
you're a franchised that is is dysfunctional, then the owner
also has to take the look at at issues that
could be bigger than just one person. And I wonder, okay,
does this set off a subtle alarm that Shat Khan
(08:42):
has has taken a look at not only personnel or
things that are being said in terms of personnel, but
is he taking a look at what people are saying
and how they feel about the Jaguars as a whole.
Speaker 2 (09:00):
And to me, that to.
Speaker 3 (09:02):
Me, will be the biggest tail of the tape moving forward,
because regardless.
Speaker 2 (09:07):
Of who you hire as the new head coach, if you.
Speaker 3 (09:12):
Don't take a look at the fact that it's the
culture that you have to address, it's you, yourself and
whatever your involvement is and why things aren't working the
way that they need to work out for your team.
If you are taking the proper steps and allowing the
people that you hire to do the job that they're
(09:35):
going to do, then there's a likelihood that the job
that they're going to do is going to be better
than the ones that the people that came before them do.
There's a chance that the relationship between the GM and
the coach will be a better relationship between the GM
and the coach if some way, somehow your involvement is minimized,
(09:55):
if your level of you know, what you're doing and
and what you're saying is minimized, and so to me,
I just wonder, is this a sign that you know,
the Cohn family are looking at you know, maybe maybe
this becomes a trend what you see taking place in Washington.
Speaker 2 (10:16):
How about just create a positive environment.
Speaker 3 (10:20):
Be a good cheerleader to the people you've hired to
do the job, and you do, you know, you do
the things that have made.
Speaker 2 (10:27):
You the money to be able to buy the team
that you have.
Speaker 3 (10:30):
Just you do those things and allow the people that
you hire that you've delegated to do the job do
the job.
Speaker 1 (10:37):
Let me ask you a question. What's the difference between
Woody Johnson and SHODGHN talk talk Talk Talk talk gon, Like, honestly,
what's the difference.
Speaker 5 (10:48):
Shod CON's not as involved in the day to day operations,
and you know it isn't around quite as much.
Speaker 4 (10:55):
Like, he doesn't meddle in stuff.
Speaker 5 (10:57):
I mean, I would assume, I mean, his son Tony
is not you know, if he is involved, he's not
using the Madden ratings to make or influence his dad's decisions. Well,
he's got his own issues, Tony, He's got there's you're
a huge other stuff going.
Speaker 2 (11:15):
But I mean, look, you know, I just well, you know,
he's not not all that successful and other other aspects,
and they.
Speaker 4 (11:24):
Just enjoy always trying to compare him to Lee.
Speaker 2 (11:27):
No, there is no comparison. I'll take Lee over Tony Conlee.
I'll take Lee. I will take him.
Speaker 1 (11:37):
But no, I just wonder because remember when he couldn't
wait to fire urban Meyer. He fired urban Meyer and
everybody celebrated because like, oh yeah, he's got to go.
It's top gotta got to get rid of that guy. Man,
he's running running down the organization.
Speaker 2 (11:52):
Where are we at? Like now? Where?
Speaker 1 (11:55):
Like that that was years ago, and yet it's still
the same mess that it always is. And the problem is, like,
if you're Trevor Lawrence, you got to be looking around going,
I mean, I appreciate my names on the stadium, who's
coaching here, and who's the.
Speaker 3 (12:10):
GM And your money's in the bank like Gonney on.
Speaker 1 (12:16):
The bank flounder with two hundred million dollars and be
like all right, well, at least I made a couple
of coins while I played. I just don't like, I
don't know what the difference is between them. And yet
for some reason Shotgun maybe because it's in Jacksonville, he
doesn't really get a lot of the heat that other
owners get to where he's overseeing and and he's the
(12:37):
guy on watch with this disaster every year, Like what
did they do?
Speaker 5 (12:42):
I just I don't think he meddles as much. I
think you can fault him for his hiring firings.
Speaker 2 (12:48):
It's because his mustache, isn't it. You like his mustache.
Speaker 5 (12:51):
It's it's pretty sinister, Like it could go either way,
like he could. He could be the protagonist in a
story because he's got that, like, you know, a nice
smile and mustache. Or he could be the antagonist, like
he could. He could really be a pretty good villain
with that sort of mustache. It just depends on his mood. Yeah,
But in all seriousness, I don't think there's any comparison
(13:12):
between the two. Now you might from everything I was told,
the word is that it's it's not a bad organization.
Multiple people I talked to who had been in different places,
been successful in different places, players, coaches. Their response was,
this is not a bad organization. This is an organization
(13:34):
that they've got an owner who cares, he puts money
into it. It's there's a football problem, and it's one
person who's running it that's the problem. And everyone kind
of pointed to trend Bulky. So if there's any issue
that I think Seod Cohn has had as an owner,
it's an in most cases, he's probably been too patient.
(13:57):
You know, he gave Gus Brawley a lot of time
there to turn that thing around, never did. And he's
given Trent balky Way too long of a leash where
he should have known coming from San Francisco. But it
feels a lot different than a lot of the the
you know, issues that the New York Jets have faced
(14:18):
Underwoody Johnson.
Speaker 4 (14:20):
I don't I don't view them as one of the same.
Speaker 2 (14:22):
What do you do now?
Speaker 1 (14:23):
You just swing for the fences and call up Belichick
and say blank check, bring Michae Lombardi like whoever else
you want to bring with you, and and let's try
and you know, try and get this done.
Speaker 2 (14:34):
Well, you gotta say, blank check. Why can't you just
offer him the job? Well, I mean, what's he u?
I think that would be pretty low low brow though.
Speaker 3 (14:43):
I mean, maybe it doesn't matter, but that's kind of
low They already hired that man, like like honor that
man getting hired, honor the institution hiring the man, versus
you know, anything else. Like I don't know, I don't
think you would go get a coach from a different
team if he was the head coach of the different
(15:05):
team and it just be like, ah, yeah, well we're available,
now you want to come here? Now, I know they
jets hired you in Chicago, but hey, Ben, here's a
blank check.
Speaker 2 (15:14):
You want to come here instead?
Speaker 3 (15:15):
Like I don't know, man, I'm saying Belichick, I know,
but I'm just saying I don't.
Speaker 2 (15:20):
I don't feel like he took a job.
Speaker 3 (15:23):
They interviewed him, they hired him, Like, let that man
coach the North North Carolina tar Hills.
Speaker 1 (15:30):
But if he didn't want to deal with Trent Balky,
and now Trent Balky's out of the way, maybe all
of a sudden, it's like whack them all guys start
popping up. Belichick's the next one on the board.
Speaker 3 (15:39):
Why not take a But why is he on the board.
There's not another coach that's available that's on the board.
That's a good quality coach. There's still a few out there,
still a few.
Speaker 1 (15:52):
Mike McCarthy, I know he's a retread. So what is
does Benjohnson and Mike Rabel and like all these top
candidates are gone?
Speaker 2 (16:05):
And then why are.
Speaker 3 (16:07):
They top candidates because they've been head coaches before?
Speaker 2 (16:11):
Well, no, Ben Johnson's not been a head coach, but
that's okay.
Speaker 3 (16:14):
So he's the one top name that that you've mentioned
that a head coach before.
Speaker 2 (16:21):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (16:23):
Yeah, it feels like this is really late in the
process to decide, you know what, we got an issue here.
Speaker 3 (16:30):
Like, I don't think they decided they had an issue
deep into the process. I think they've been going through
a process deciding and figuring out how deep they are
in a situation.
Speaker 2 (16:41):
Do you think sometimes you need to do that? All right?
Speaker 1 (16:43):
Do you guys think it's a coincidence that hours after
Liam Kohene decides I'm good, he goes all right, Trent,
you gotta go like how many other times did they
hear that before? They were like ah, because it's there's
like good players there, Like you've got a quarterback there
that that people think has a lot of promise and
(17:04):
he's already you know, you've been paid. It's a division
you can win. It's not like Houston was lighting the
league on fire this year, Like why was everybody like
turning down an opportunity to take the job? Ben Johnson
didn't even meet in person with them.
Speaker 3 (17:18):
It is a tad bit curious because on the outside,
like surface level, outside of some of the obvious things
that we may have seen in the past, like what
took place with Urban, Outside of that, I mean, you
don't really hear too much craziness coming from there, not
too much. And they do have a quarterback now that
(17:40):
might start to become more question mark driven.
Speaker 2 (17:43):
I'm gonna be honest with you.
Speaker 3 (17:45):
I don't think you can comfortably say he's your franchise
guy moving forward.
Speaker 4 (17:50):
Oh yeah, I don't.
Speaker 3 (17:52):
I think he's If some of these other guys are
coming under question as to how how far they can
take a team, I think that that is certainly fair
and putting that on that bull's eye on Trevor Lawrence,
he has not. I didn't see him progress to a
different level of he definitely the franchise guy that can
(18:14):
lead this team to that's fair the next level. That's
fair so, I mean, he had some criticisms as well.
Speaker 5 (18:22):
I know I may have missed this. Off the topic,
we get a little update on how.
Speaker 4 (18:26):
You boys are doing. Man like where your boys are at?
Oh we have a yet?
Speaker 2 (18:31):
Oh yeah yeah no, yeah, we haven't shows over. Yeah.
I was gonna say it was over.
Speaker 4 (18:36):
Hes is gonna have a problem. You know what I'm saying.
Speaker 2 (18:39):
It's cold.
Speaker 3 (18:41):
It's just you two league going too Yeah yeah his hands,
yeah yeah.
Speaker 5 (18:50):
He probably can't leave hold down here.
Speaker 2 (18:55):
Had to walk through t s A with a gun
pointer to your back lead. I want to ask, but
I feel like we need to save it for.
Speaker 5 (19:04):
The back trunk of a car.
Speaker 4 (19:10):
There's a good chance you can try to go to
the airport she kidnapped.
Speaker 3 (19:14):
I mean, but they're both. They're both at work today. Lorena,
you're there, right, Lorena, Lorena? No, Lorena, I'm not here. Yeah,
she's they're both there. They're both, they're both.
Speaker 2 (19:28):
I didn't go God.
Speaker 6 (19:36):
Not my monkey, not my circus circus.
Speaker 3 (19:42):
Well, they say one monkey doesn't stop the show. That's
what they say, and then clown dang circus terms.
Speaker 2 (19:48):
Yeah. Now, question is, Lee, did you go to the
gym yesterday?
Speaker 7 (19:53):
I did? I did.
Speaker 8 (19:54):
I didn't get to say as long as i'd like
because we had a meeting shortly after the show, but
I went and got little car you in before that.
Speaker 6 (20:01):
But I want to ask, was she ever actually outside
of the studio like she said she was.
Speaker 7 (20:07):
Yeah, that's that's not I'm not exactly sure about that.
Speaker 2 (20:10):
I think you see her. I think she was just lying.
Speaker 1 (20:13):
I think she's crawling through the air conditioning bent. That's
why it's broke. I think she's that's why we saw
the back. Yeah, you got another you have a vampia.
So she texted you, let's just go back over.
Speaker 3 (20:25):
Because we said we wanted to meet her, like, bring
her into the studio.
Speaker 5 (20:31):
LeVar, do not speak for anyone else other than yourself,
because I've got no desire.
Speaker 4 (20:37):
I know why you wanted to trust me, bar I.
Speaker 3 (20:48):
Know you.
Speaker 5 (20:49):
I know exactly why you wanted to go say hi,
all right exactly, No, this no part of this.
Speaker 1 (20:59):
But I gotta I gotta see if it's worth it.
Speaker 3 (21:03):
I gotta see why it's worth it. I mean I
needed to see why it was worth it exactly.
Speaker 2 (21:11):
I wouldn't know.
Speaker 5 (21:12):
Going back to the tide of events, she texted you
say she was outside the studio clips was she or
was she not?
Speaker 4 (21:20):
After the show leads.
Speaker 8 (21:21):
I cannot confirm nor did not because she was not
when I did find her she was at the gym.
Speaker 2 (21:25):
I cannot confirm nor did not.
Speaker 7 (21:28):
What help I can't confirm.
Speaker 3 (21:30):
I cannot have to be alarming and scary at the
same time. Bro, why would she text you she's outside
the studio that not be there?
Speaker 8 (21:38):
Well, because she knows that she's gonna have to pay
for parking if she keeps your car over here, you
have to park, Okay, So why did she just Yes?
I know, I know, but I'm not going to get
into a fight about whether or not she was here
or not.
Speaker 7 (21:51):
She was at the gym, maybe ready to go.
Speaker 2 (21:53):
Maybe she's a shape shifter. You know, how did she
do it to Glee? Was she strong?
Speaker 7 (21:58):
She's really good at the gym?
Speaker 1 (22:00):
Yeah, she's uh what well, what was she to make
a plan to do routines and stuff like that?
Speaker 3 (22:05):
So when you guys were leaving out the studio yesterday,
what was the decision? Why was the decision made for
Loraina not to go to the gym?
Speaker 8 (22:13):
No decision was made for her not to go to
the gym she wanted to go to. I don't know
what Lorena's decision was, but.
Speaker 2 (22:19):
There you go.
Speaker 4 (22:20):
Just start off with that.
Speaker 3 (22:21):
You didn't make it a point to know what her
decision was, Like she started this weightlifting thing with you.
Speaker 2 (22:26):
Yeah, this is the thanks she did. Like, I don't understand.
I've been kicked out. I feel you didn't go.
Speaker 7 (22:35):
I feel unwelcome, so I'm not gonna go.
Speaker 1 (22:36):
Yeah, your your personal quarterback coach got you to the
dance and now you walk away.
Speaker 2 (22:40):
Yep, messed up? Man. You so you started to get him.
Speaker 7 (22:46):
We got we got waiting, We got waits in the studio.
Now it will just work out during.
Speaker 2 (22:51):
The show started this case.
Speaker 3 (22:54):
Dang Lee, I mean Lee Uh Brady called you the
other day and he came cat real strong with it,
and I gotta say, you dig yourself deeper in that
bee hole.
Speaker 2 (23:06):
Bro.
Speaker 7 (23:07):
Oh yeah, thanks for the help. You guys appreciate yours.
Speaker 2 (23:09):
Yeah yeah, I.
Speaker 5 (23:11):
Mean, what do you mean why are we to blame?
Like you're the one who puts yourself in the situation.
Speaker 7 (23:17):
Yeah, yep, I know it's my fault.
Speaker 3 (23:20):
Yeah, whose fault is it?
Speaker 2 (23:25):
Nobody'll done it this time?
Speaker 5 (23:30):
Oh man, I'm just trying to get down to the
root of the whole situation, talking about who are very
very intrigued.
Speaker 3 (23:37):
Oh my gosh, she blew his brains out yesterday, and
I mean in an amazing way.
Speaker 2 (23:43):
For you, girlfriend, he's not even live. She told him
up like a triloquist.
Speaker 3 (23:46):
Right now, Good for you, girlfriend. Whatever she put it
on him yesterday, put it on him. It's whatever, yes
to anything and everything.
Speaker 2 (24:00):
To date, she's got to lead a lot voodoo dollars.
Speaker 5 (24:02):
Well, you're getting way too defensive about this, like we're
just trying to figure out facts of things.
Speaker 8 (24:08):
Yeah, trust me, I try to find fact Facts don't
matter too much when when you're in the of the argument,
I guess.
Speaker 4 (24:15):
Yeah, it's not it's this is an argument. This is anything.
I'm trying.
Speaker 2 (24:20):
On the white side of the argument.
Speaker 5 (24:22):
She's outside tang and then you leave the studio and
she's what not there anymore.
Speaker 7 (24:27):
Yeah, that'll happen sometimes, mm hmm.
Speaker 6 (24:30):
Like she said she was at the gym, but she
wasn't actually at the gym at all.
Speaker 2 (24:35):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (24:36):
No, she plays the blind audit.
Speaker 8 (24:38):
She'll she'll say something and see what I have to respond,
and then it's, uh.
Speaker 3 (24:43):
Lee, you do know that. That is like, like, you know,
that's what people that end up behind bars do.
Speaker 6 (24:52):
Bro's red flags, guys. I think they're called red flags. Dang,
I think Lee's color blind.
Speaker 4 (25:00):
No, he ain't.
Speaker 2 (25:04):
Sol you out for her. He clearly is not color blind.
He's not blinded blindly. I just wanted to see if
it was worth it.
Speaker 3 (25:14):
She needed to come say hello to us.
Speaker 2 (25:15):
I saw Lee's algorithm in Florida.
Speaker 4 (25:21):
He's not blind. He does what he's looking at.
Speaker 2 (25:24):
Oh, no, I support you, Lee, you know, I don't know.
I don't either, don't. I just don't know. I don't.
Speaker 4 (25:34):
I'm gonna be honest. I don't support it. I don't.
Speaker 2 (25:37):
I don't know about it. I just want to see
my son later.
Speaker 1 (25:40):
That's I don't want any of those problems, man, And
I can't trust her.
Speaker 2 (25:45):
I think we should switch gym times. They can go
anytime now. He doesn't have to be after work.
Speaker 6 (25:49):
Why is that because after work was for you know,
we got off work. Yeah, at a different time.
Speaker 2 (25:55):
She doesn't have to be out.
Speaker 7 (25:56):
It's your gym. It's not like, yeah it's yours.
Speaker 2 (25:58):
Thank you, guys, So you need to go to a
different did you?
Speaker 4 (26:02):
Guys just spreak up.
Speaker 7 (26:03):
Yes, only three times, So.
Speaker 2 (26:06):
You just told him he needs to go to a
different gym. Take there to.
Speaker 3 (26:13):
What Lorena, I'm I agree with you there, Like that's
some selfish ass stuff.
Speaker 2 (26:19):
Lee.
Speaker 3 (26:20):
You're not only going like hijack her being able to
go work out with you, but you're going to hijack
her time now like an hour away, saying.
Speaker 8 (26:28):
If Lorena is uncomfortable and everyone else she can she
can have the gym whenever she wants.
Speaker 7 (26:35):
And I'll respect that.
Speaker 3 (26:38):
You not find that to be strange that you have
that same exact conversation with your girlfriend about y'all's crib, Like, hey, bruh,
for real, for real, Like your patterns are so toxic man,
Like you can have the gym when you want to
have the gym, like, I'll go somewhere else, like what
you can have the apartment when you want to have
the apartment.
Speaker 2 (26:58):
Do you want to kick getting rid of them?
Speaker 3 (27:01):
Yes, yes, that's a hundred that's a one hundred percent
what it should be. Yes, yes, well when they kicked
out one or two get kicked out or do the kicking.
Speaker 2 (27:13):
Yeah, well I know they just tack.
Speaker 1 (27:17):
Somebody in the NFL, did some kicking on their own yesterday.
Speaker 4 (27:20):
Yeah there is.
Speaker 5 (27:22):
That's next next on Two Pros and a Cup of Joe.
Speaker 9 (27:26):
Be sure to catch live editions of Two Pros and
a Cup of Joe with Brady Quinn, LeVar Errington, and
Jonas Knox weekdays at six am Eastern, three am Pacific

Speaker 1 (27:40):
Two Pros and a Cup of Joe Fox Sports Radio,
LaVar Arrington, Brady Quinn, Jonas Knox with you here.
Speaker 2 (27:45):
Coming up in about ten minutes.
Speaker 1 (27:47):
From now here from the tire rack dot Com studios,
we are going to tell you about one of the
great merchandise ideas in a long ass time in the
world of football. That'll be yours here on FSR. We
mentioned his name earlier. The brand new head coach of
the Chicago Bears, Ben Johnson couldn't help himself when talking
to the media yesterday in Chicago. He discussed his experience
(28:10):
in the division and also made sure to point out
one streak he currently has going against one coach.
Speaker 10 (28:17):
I know this is the toughest division of football right now.
There's three teams that made the playoffs this year. I've
got tremendous amount of respect for the coaches and the
players in this league, having competed against them for the
last six years. Dan Campbell, Kevin O'Connell, you're talking about
two guys that are up for Coach of the Year
(28:39):
awards as the season ends here. And to be quite
frank with you, I kind of enjoyed beating Matt Laford
twice a year.
Speaker 2 (28:48):
Wow tang, Wow, shots fired. I mean, if he did,
he should have stayed in Detroit. Bang bangs.
Speaker 5 (28:56):
So is there like ill will there or is this
more of the fact that Chicago's ruggle versus Green Bay.
Speaker 4 (29:01):
Ben Johnson knows that.
Speaker 5 (29:03):
And it's almost like when Jim Trussell came to Iowa
State basically proclaiming, like, We're gonna make you proud when
you play that team up north.
Speaker 4 (29:11):
Is that more what this is?
Speaker 1 (29:12):
That's my guest, because I haven't seen anything or any
track record of them getting after it. Lovey Lovey Smith
did the same thing when he had his introductory press conference.
He made sure to point out the Packers, you know,
beat green Bay, that's our goals.
Speaker 2 (29:26):
Maybe this was his I.
Speaker 3 (29:27):
Mean that went for so that's the history of it, right,
that's gotta be but got he went for the name though.
Speaker 2 (29:33):
Because I even asked her. I got twice.
Speaker 5 (29:35):
I asked, he is he has five and one against
them since he's taken over his offensive corner with three.
Speaker 1 (29:40):
Lions, and Matt Lafloors had a really good run to
start his career and I give La floor that work. Hey, Lee,
when you were in Green Bay, any discussions and he
talked about Ben Johnson like was he was there like
a dart boarder urinal cake with his face on it
and any of those bars.
Speaker 8 (29:57):
Yeah, no, not on the radar really amongst the Packers fan.
Speaker 3 (30:00):
So he just couldn't get him out of that little
crane game you play, you know where you get the
rubber duckies.
Speaker 2 (30:05):
There wasn't a.
Speaker 3 (30:07):
There wasn't a it wasn't a Ben Johnson for for
the rubber ducky you know.
Speaker 8 (30:14):
Yeah, no no Vikings Bears or Bears themed duckies in
the the ducky.
Speaker 2 (30:19):
Maine Elvia Becker will play the crane game. Yeah, crane game,
yeah maybe. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (30:25):
So he's probably just trying to call for clall, trying
to Okay, Jonas, get it right, man, not bad take
that thing seriously. Uh yeah, So he's probably just trying
to butter up the Bears fans and uh, you know,
trying to draw a line in the sand and arrow.
Speaker 3 (30:46):
But isn't that instant bulletin board material? Honestly, Like if
you think about it, like that's kind of bulletin board
is right, Like all right, you want to call me out,
like you want to use me at your press conference,
like you know what I mean? Like, and they even did.
They didn't even win the division this year. The Detroit
Lions won it. Yeah, so like call out Dan Campbell.
(31:07):
Damn you know what I mean. Say, I'm coming for you, Dan.
Speaker 2 (31:11):
I left.
Speaker 3 (31:11):
I'm probably the reason why you won. Now I'm here.
So we're going to take it to Detroit, and we're
going to take it to Green Bay. You shooting shots
and you shoot shots at a runner out.
Speaker 4 (31:22):
Well, that came out that people felt like, no matter what.
Speaker 5 (31:29):
Ben Johnson was going to leave this offseason, and that
had come out amongst a report that apparently something happened
between Ben Johnson and Dan Campbell, and maybe it was
how the season ended, a difference in philosophy, difference in
how they saw it, whatever the case may be, it
did seem like that Ben Johnson was a bit giddy.
(31:50):
How else would you describe his mannerisms, you know, talking
to the people within the organization, talking at as.
Speaker 2 (31:58):
Pressed, just here to say hello all of you.
Speaker 4 (32:01):
The funniest thing I saw man And I'll try to
look him back up.
Speaker 2 (32:04):
How hell are you? You guys?
Speaker 5 (32:07):
Like obviously we've got you know, we've we've got a
young kids. When you try to teach them right and left,
you know, you hold up like the l you know,
so you know the opposite is that you're right. And
at one point in the press conference, and I don't
know if this was edited or not, so who knows.
Speaker 4 (32:22):
It's social media, it's the internet. We don't know what's
real anymore.
Speaker 5 (32:26):
But Ben Johnson gets asked a question and it's on
like the right hand side, but you see him look
down to check like left, right, okay, right, and then
he turns and like it is the funniest thing I
have seen it a long time for someone to pick
up a small nuance like that, but one hundred percent
(32:46):
looks like it.
Speaker 4 (32:47):
You guys, what I'm talking about.
Speaker 2 (32:48):
A little awkward, little nervous there at the press or you.
Speaker 4 (32:51):
Think, I don't know if it was like nerves.
Speaker 5 (32:53):
It was like, oh no, this guy still does like
the left right thing with his hands. Like it was
like one of those comments that maybe he's such a
savant that there's like simple things that he uses to
be able to figure out left and right. But he like, hey,
he still uses hands to figure out left and right.
But he could put together the most basketball game plans
you've ever seen in the NFL.
Speaker 3 (33:14):
You know, I put my hands up to spell we
to no difference in between west and east when I
played offense. Every time, every time I put my hands up,
spell we we okay, because in the motion, I mean,
I don't know if it was still a thing in
your day, but they motioned you based off of west
and east. So that's how I figured out how to
(33:37):
go the right way, like to go left and right.
Speaker 2 (33:40):
Was the spell w e we here we go west east?
All right?
Speaker 5 (33:44):
So I hear I found it. I'm gonna send it
to you guys. Give me one second, gimme one second.
Speaker 2 (33:50):
Did y'all do it?
Speaker 3 (33:51):
Was it motions east and west or where her is
different motions?
Speaker 2 (33:56):
I didn't play, so I don't know what. Yeah, I
was talking to cue.
Speaker 5 (34:01):
No, we didn't call it West No, I mean we
had a thousand different types of motions.
Speaker 1 (34:08):
Oh yeah, you're right, it's kind of this kind of strange.
And he didn't even try and hide it. He lifted
his hands up to look like, that's what I'm saying.
Speaker 4 (34:16):
And this is a shorter clip. The longer clip.
Speaker 1 (34:19):
Oh wow, wow, it's not even like it's still on
the podium. And then he's looking down. It's like, no,
I got a lift up to Wow. It's interesting, a
little quirky Ben Jobson.
Speaker 5 (34:33):
Look and mad respect because in his mind right now
he might be putting together again the greatest plan we've
ever seen for their Week one matchup versus. I don't
even think they know who they're playing yet, but maybe
maybe it's in his head. But that was that was
like enough, Oh wait a second here, Okay, that's what
he just did.
Speaker 4 (34:52):
That actually happened.
Speaker 1 (34:54):
He's kinds He is an interesting guy because Almen Ross,
saying Brown on his podcast, said that he called him
after the news came out and he just was kind
of giving him a hard time. He's all, I'm going
to f you up twice next year, and Ben Johnson
was like, well, I'm gonna f you up, wait what it?
Speaker 3 (35:10):
So?
Speaker 5 (35:11):
I spent training camp when he was helping out the
quarterback coaches with Zach Taylor and Miami in twenty fourteen,
and I gotta tell you, I love Ben like Ben
is one of the kindest, hard working, detailed offensive minds
I'd ever been around. I mean, and that's at that
age when he was I think it was above quota control,
(35:34):
but he might have been like an offensive assistant or
something like that. But I would sit in the room
with him and just kind of talk about the offense,
talking about philosophy, different things, because you know, that system
was very foreign compared to what I had before. Bill
Laser was the offensive coordinator, and he had come from
the three digit system, which I was somewhat a part of,
(35:56):
but some of the stuff was a little bit more
of like Chip Kelly type of you know, some zonary,
different different ways of dropping back and and some of
the stuff that Bill Waveser brought from that Chip Kelly offense.
So it was completely new to me in the sense
of like foowork and timing and how I was trying
to apply it based on my experience. And so we
(36:17):
would have a couple of you know, pretty detailed discussions
about things, and he was impressive. Like it was that moment,
Like even with Zach Taylor, you sit in a room
with some of these coaches, you go, guy's sun to
be a head coach, Like they just.
Speaker 4 (36:28):
Have a certain demeanor about them.
Speaker 5 (36:30):
He was like the mad scientist type, and you know,
you I kind of wondered, like how he would be
in front of people.
Speaker 4 (36:36):
And you know, look, I think he's fine.
Speaker 5 (36:38):
I think he's grown into you know, his his own
and his personality and what he's going to be. And
I think he's gonna be a good head coach for
Chicago if they give him time. Like that's the biggest
thing is they've got to give him time to put
this whole thing together and give him a roster that
can make it work.
Speaker 4 (36:54):
Because I think he's good.
Speaker 3 (36:56):
They got to give him a burner too, by the way,
to make sure that he has the ability to use
less lethal in his self defense just in case, you know,
something word to pop off while he's on his way
into the office building, if you know what I mean.
But listen, if you know me, I'm all about defense,
So you know what, make sure you get your hands

and printed out their own shirts fly Eglist's fly from
the Fan of course, uh and commander's colors.

By the way, the fan in DC, that's your old
stopping grounds, right bar.
Speaker 3 (39:18):
Oh, well my family still lives there, so Mom, dad, brothers.
Speaker 4 (39:22):
I'm saying.
Speaker 2 (39:23):
The fan in d C. Oh, the fan, Yeah, yes,
that's correct. That is where I started.
Speaker 3 (39:28):
Yeah, some really good years there, you know, learned a lot,
you know, really dope.
Speaker 2 (39:33):
Wait, you know is that the mayor.
Speaker 4 (39:34):
Of Philadelphia that did that? That is correct? That's not good?
Speaker 2 (39:40):
What do you think this? What do you think things
like in the city there, probably.
Speaker 3 (39:43):
They certainly aren't putting their funds towards the educational.
Speaker 2 (39:46):
System all damn, damn, my bad. Who needs to know
how to spell eagles
