star player was left out in critical moments of their game.
Over the weekend. We're also going to talk about a

Did he not?

How the hell we feel in here on a Monday.
Speaker 4 (01:44):
Boys, you got a lot of bass in your voice,
so it sounds like we're doing good. I guess, Oh yeah,
a whole lot of basy. Why you got so much
basing you boys? Can I take a guess?
Speaker 5 (01:56):
That's because face, we're just coming off one of the
greatest weekends in sports. Well, let's be honest about it,
March Madness. The first couple of rounds of the tournament.
To me is as good as it gets in regards
to just sports stories, specifically college basketball, but the coaches,
the players, the families, everything behind it. I'm reminded every
(02:18):
single year why I loved so much, and this year's
been no different.
Speaker 4 (02:22):
It's pretty you're excited, you know why Q came in
hot and excited about what's going on with the tournament.
Right he's like second place on on list now, you know,
so he's you know, he's doing really well with his bracket,
with the bracket.
Speaker 5 (02:41):
I always get excited this time of year, like the
buzzer beaters, the emotions, like the you know, you see
the play by Queen the freshman from Maryland last night.
Speaker 3 (02:50):
That's that's a play that will.
Speaker 5 (02:52):
Live forever in the history of Maryland basketball. Like he'll
remember that forever, his family that like that team, the
Crab five if they call them, that'll be remembered forever.
Get him talking about you know, where where does he
get all the confidence from? Its like I'm from Baltimore.
It's just it's stuff like that that. It's immense legacies
and I think it's awesome like that. That is This
(03:15):
is the best tournament format, hands down. It's not even close.
I would say that Stanley Cupp is the other the
other tournament format that I'd say comes kind of close
to this. The difference is it's just it's not it's
like more drawn out. I mean, this is like, hey man,
you got two halfs of basketball to figure this out,
and if you don't, your dreams could.
Speaker 4 (03:35):
Be over, you know, whose legacy is solidified and be
a mediocre.
Speaker 6 (03:42):
Jonas Knox.
Speaker 1 (03:43):
Oh wow, this is listen. This isn't about the people's bracket.
Speaker 4 (03:47):
Okay, hey man, you oo you like, damn there last place,
dog Like.
Speaker 3 (03:52):
It's not good.
Speaker 4 (03:54):
It's not good for you. You know, you also made
a decision that made that will will go down in
history and that you will always remember how bad you've
been on putting your bracket together.
Speaker 2 (04:09):
That's not what this is about.
Speaker 6 (04:11):
All right. Well, well tell we're gonna.
Speaker 1 (04:13):
Sit there and talk about you know, Queen getting his
steps in. Does he have one of those uh, one
of those monitors where he can track his steps, because
he definitely got him in on that final part.
Speaker 4 (04:23):
Oh, it was a euro step. It was aroad step to.
Speaker 6 (04:26):
The that's what I call it.
Speaker 3 (04:28):
It wasn't that's what they call it.
Speaker 4 (04:31):
He stepped over and through and around and to Grandma's house.
He went to get the shot off. It's all good. Yeah,
everybody does it now, you know that's the end thing
Now to take like twenty extra steps was traveling.
Speaker 1 (04:44):
Jalen Rose as Gene Sterotur during the Oregon Arizona game.
Hey did he walk in gene stereotory. I couldn't even
understand what he was saying. He was so fatigued, like
Jeane Sterotor, that's the most work he's ever had in
his life.
Speaker 5 (04:58):
Like at one point, I think he he mentioned a football.
Speaker 3 (05:01):
When I was listening to him, I was like.
Speaker 2 (05:04):
Where you're at, He's exhausted.
Speaker 4 (05:08):
I mean, at some point, aren't you going to label
one of the positions RB basketball?
Speaker 6 (05:16):
You got an RV and basketball. I mean, I'm just saying,
get him the ball, let him run, let him let.
Speaker 4 (05:21):
Him spin with the ball, get to the hoop, you
know what I mean. Like at some point, you know,
maybe one to two dribbles.
Speaker 6 (05:27):
Is all you need.
Speaker 3 (05:28):
You know, that's all.
Speaker 4 (05:30):
It's all good.
Speaker 6 (05:30):
No, it's it's evolution, man.
Speaker 4 (05:32):
You know, guys are getting longer, and you know things
are are taking place, and you know the three point
line that's moved back, and you know it's just different now,
so you know.
Speaker 6 (05:45):
It's just part of the evolution.
Speaker 4 (05:46):
Man.
Speaker 6 (05:47):
Like running back, what was his stats?
Speaker 4 (05:49):
He had one hundred yards rushing, Yeah, ten points, five assists,
six steals.
Speaker 6 (05:59):
And one hundred ye undred twenty yards on the.
Speaker 2 (06:01):
Ground at four point three yards to carry.
Speaker 4 (06:06):
Lee. What is this?
Speaker 1 (06:07):
I don't even know what LeVar is referencing as far
as the was there standings that were kept or something
like that.
Speaker 2 (06:12):
I wasn't even like, what are we? Oh, you got
to keep up with the standings. I don't know what
standings we're talking about.
Speaker 4 (06:17):
I was talking about everything very closely.
Speaker 7 (06:19):
The VIP standings of Fox Sports Radio as long, along
with the listener's brackets as well.
Speaker 2 (06:24):
But if we're looking.
Speaker 7 (06:25):
At just VIPs, and there are some very important people
on here, including Steve Hartman right at the top, but
only one point behind him is mister Brady Quinn. Brady's
killing out with his right behind his bracket alone in
second place.
Speaker 2 (06:37):
Let's go Steve.
Speaker 4 (06:38):
Why he was so excited, man, I mean, you know,
he's doing really well this year. I'm not proud, you're
very well.
Speaker 5 (06:45):
Here's here's the difference, Like we've got a twelve team
playoff for back in college football, and it will expand
probably to sixteen at some point, fourteen sixteen, who knows when.
But we don't get like the stories of it, you know,
like there's no like Sister Jean, there's no you don't
get quite as many stories surrounding around the game of football.
Speaker 3 (07:04):
And so to me, like this is such.
Speaker 5 (07:06):
A unique time, a unique experience, and there's just something
about college basketball March madness, like I hope it never
goes away. And honestly, like I'm a little concerned because
there's times when you see there's other things popping up,
like there's other tournaments going on right now, Like I
don't know if you guys know this, there's competition with
the n i T Tournament.
Speaker 3 (07:26):
Yeah, no, it's it's called the Crown And there's a.
Speaker 5 (07:29):
Different format for how those players are compensating for their participation.
So you got some big brands who are playing in
the Crown Tournament. And that's one of the things that
I think when you look at the landscape of and
the you know, football, basketball, you become a little bit
concerned by it, only because this is awesome like what
(07:49):
we had this past weekend. You can flip turn a
game on starting around noon and watch stuff all day long. Awesome,
It's incredible. It's one of the greatest things to experience.
I was trying to get my girls into it. They
weren't so much into it, but my two year old
sons starting to get into it.
Speaker 3 (08:05):
I'm like, Okay. I was like, this is gonna be
awesome in the future.
Speaker 5 (08:07):
Like I'm already getting exciting for the years where I
literally take my two sons, we go to a casino,
I teach them.
Speaker 3 (08:14):
How to not be Jonas Knox and we can win
some money out some of this.
Speaker 4 (08:19):
Tiger Woods is in a competitive tournament these days too,
huh he is he?
Speaker 3 (08:25):
I mean, I don't know tournaments.
Speaker 4 (08:30):
The tournament is over something I don't want that somebody
want I would tournament. Yeah, just won the you know
hand of the seas Okay Royalty. Very competitive, very competitive.
Speaker 5 (08:49):
I mean this for the record, for the record, one
littlevar Arrington has not been a fan of mentioning Tiger
Woods at any time.
Speaker 3 (08:57):
This is try your update. When he came back. You
crapped on it, you poo pooed on it, you know, I.
Speaker 4 (09:06):
Did, he's just not going to win, and and everybody in.
Speaker 1 (09:14):
The words, in the words of Rob Parker, I'm not
trying to pooh poo nothing.
Speaker 2 (09:19):
Come on, LeVar.
Speaker 6 (09:21):
Was that was?
Speaker 4 (09:22):
That was?
Speaker 6 (09:23):
That was what you went with.
Speaker 2 (09:24):
I'm not trying to pooh pooh nothing.
Speaker 4 (09:27):
I would have I would have liked it better as
the baseball guy. Call give me the baseball guy.
Speaker 2 (09:31):
You know, hi poo dotted?
Speaker 6 (09:36):
How you say pooh poo backwards?
Speaker 4 (09:38):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (09:43):
Yeah, it's the hell of a fam.
Speaker 4 (09:45):
I mean, imagine if they started a family. Jeez, there
you go. That's competitive. That's competitive. Tournament preparation is what
that's called. You know, you got to put the right
players on onto the playing field in order to be
able to get the result that you're seeking. You know,
something to it.
Speaker 1 (10:03):
Could we give a just a tip of the cap
a hell of a run by Dan Hurley and Yukon.
Then that was a hell of a run by the
Yukon Huskies.
Speaker 2 (10:14):
And Dan Hurley. He felt like he was all red
asked out at the end of that one.
Speaker 1 (10:20):
That he's He's had a couple of issues this year,
and I just wonder how much of his frustrations were
realizing not the same team that he was dealing with.
Speaker 2 (10:32):
They were trying to gut out wins they made.
Speaker 1 (10:34):
The game was a lot closer, and I think a
lot of people expected it to be against Florida.
Speaker 2 (10:39):
But Dan Hurley did talk afterwards.
Speaker 1 (10:42):
This was after, you know, he wanted to make sure
that everybody knew that they got kind of screwed over
by the officials. Which take that for what you will,
but this was Dan Hurley talking about his team postgame.
Speaker 3 (10:53):
You know, I was a.
Speaker 8 (10:55):
Coach'sary on Hotsia going into twenty three.
Speaker 3 (10:59):
You got asked better.
Speaker 8 (11:02):
But until these men, you know, until Alex Cara been
put on the uniform, Sam said.
Speaker 3 (11:12):
The players changed your life.
Speaker 8 (11:14):
You have such special people.
Speaker 1 (11:17):
So there was Dan Hurley emotional about his uh little
emotions team.
Speaker 3 (11:22):
Well, how was to say that was? That was one emotion.
I saw a clip of him walking off the court.
Speaker 5 (11:28):
He's deal with Baylor as they're about ready to get
on the court and get blown out by Duke.
Speaker 3 (11:32):
He's like, hope they don't screw you like they screwed us.
Speaker 2 (11:36):
Why did he say that? What did he say to the.
Speaker 1 (11:39):
Some Creighton fans were heckling him or they were calling
him like Baldy and he's like, yeah, two rings, Baldy,
do you.
Speaker 2 (11:46):
I love that guy.
Speaker 3 (11:47):
He's amazing.
Speaker 5 (11:48):
And also like how quickly we forget or how quickly
maybe even college basketball's forgotten.
Speaker 3 (11:54):
But they didn't win the last two years they dominated.
They they and through the.
Speaker 5 (12:00):
Most difficult tournament format two years in a row and dominated.
I mean, wipe the floor. It wasn't even close, folks.
I mean we quickly forget that. And then you can
see how in this era of college basketball or really
college sports, how drastically your roster can change. And I
(12:21):
know I'm not they didn't fall off all right, like
they played Florida to the wire. They're a one seed,
but you see how fast things can change in this
world with nil, the transfer portal, everything else involved.
Speaker 3 (12:33):
And I think that's also.
Speaker 5 (12:34):
One of those things where you're like, you look at
a lot of those Yukon supporters, and I'm sure there's
a lot of people who've supported them, you know, financially
and different boosters who've stepped up when they've needed to.
But after a couple of years in a row, you
know what happens. A lot of those people are I'm good,
you know, I've got to you know, I was a
part of this. They got a couple, got a couple
of rings, got a couple out of boys for helping
(12:55):
out and supporting the program, and it's like, don't really
want to go back in for a third, you know,
it sounds kind of crazy to say, but that's the truth.
Is not saying that people get complacent, but they get
satisfied and at some point they'll maybe get a little
more desperate and maybe they'll want to come back out
and dip in the check book again. But that's how
it works. It's why he talked about he was half
(13:16):
my team knows where they're going to be transferring to
at this point. Like that's how ridiculous tampering is, and
how ridiculous the transfer portal windows. Now basketball is only one,
but more of the tampering issue revolving around in il
is right now in college sports.
Speaker 1 (13:33):
I was gonna ask LeVar this because I've heard people say,
like people that skipped college and went to the NBA
that you know, they wish they could have participated in
the tournament because of how awesome it is. Like that
we laid out just the craziness the finishes all that stuff.
Speaker 2 (13:50):
LaVar.
Speaker 1 (13:50):
You were recruited by Bob Huggins, big name college schools.
Speaker 2 (13:55):
Did you ever watch Thompson?
Speaker 1 (13:57):
Did you ever watch the tournament and be like, damn,
kind of want to play in that, Like I kind
of want to be a part of all that, you know,
opportunity I played.
Speaker 6 (14:05):
I played against a lot of them.
Speaker 4 (14:07):
You know, when when you're in high school, you're you're
playing in those travel, travel tournaments, so you've kind of
in a weird way, you you've had an opportunity to
feel with that energy, you know, and in a much
lesser way, of course, what it feels like. You know,
I've been in tournaments where Kobe was there and Lamar
(14:29):
Odom was in there, and guys like you know, maybe
names that people would know if they're basketball people like
Samaki Walker. I played against the Donald Foyle, I played
against Society White.
Speaker 6 (14:40):
Those were all.
Speaker 4 (14:41):
Those were all moments in time where I realized, yeah,
that that football was the right decision for me. Because
basketball players are mutants, you know, They're they're like they're
avatar mutants. It's it's a different type of deal. I
remember one time I went down court. We were in Ohio.
I think it was. I forget what the tournament was.
(15:03):
It was a big one though, and it was in Ohio.
And I remember like my thing was getting balls off
the rim, like I was quicker. So I was like
six y three, and I played like a power forward,
which is super super short. You know, I'm super short
for the position that I specialized in. But I was
stronger than dudes, so you know, i'd outwork them. You know,
(15:27):
I'd get my elbows into their their quads like I
had my like little things. Grab grab onto your pants,
your shorts, and I get off the ground quicker than you.
Speaker 6 (15:37):
This one time, the ball came off.
Speaker 4 (15:38):
Of the room fellas, and I'm like, oh, this is
an easy rebound, you know. And I'm about to go
up and get the rebound. Then I see a shadow.
I saw a shadow. I'm like, well, I see a shadow.
I'm going up. Why do I see a shadow? Well,
there was a guy that was above me. He was
higher than I was, and I was pretty high at
that point in time. But for some strange reason, it
(15:59):
almost looked like he was like Superman because I saw
his whole body like soar past me.
Speaker 6 (16:05):
So I saw first I saw his hands, then his arms,
then his head.
Speaker 4 (16:11):
Then I saw the rest of his body and back
then I realized that I was getting posterized. And and
after that happened, Uh, I just started rethinking what what it.
Speaker 6 (16:22):
Would be like to play at the college. Let you know.
Speaker 5 (16:26):
By the way, as we go back to some Moocky
Walker's career, he's a Columbus born, Columbus native, played a dude,
played a Whitehall, but.
Speaker 3 (16:36):
First round top ten pick.
Speaker 5 (16:38):
After playing about ten or eleven years in the NBA,
uh it took his talents overseas, and boy, these are
some interesting places.
Speaker 3 (16:46):
He played.
Speaker 5 (16:46):
Played in Russia, played in Syria. Ajala Aleppo is the
name of that team. Actually, that's where he finished his career.
Uh played in a in Korea. I mean, it's just
all all over the place. But once he got over
a ball player man he was. He was played in China.
I mean, it's just it's kind of crazy to think
(17:07):
of all different places, Like if you don't make it
in the NBA, where you could go play, Yeah, like
there's other options where you can make good money. Now,
as I've heard from some buddies who played overseas, they
might pay you in a.
Speaker 3 (17:20):
Trash bag full of cash.
Speaker 5 (17:22):
And by the way, after you get paid that trash
bag full of cash, there may be a couple of
guys waiting around the corner after you leave to then
jump you and take that. It just it happens to
be unfortunate that you got paid and jumped in the
same day. And then maybe those two guys you might
see as part of your team security at some point
in time, so you kind of you kind of know
(17:44):
what's happening with what's some.
Speaker 6 (17:45):
Of those rush Yeah, you gave the money back.
Speaker 2 (17:47):
Unfortunately, go get it, Go get it bay.
Speaker 3 (17:50):
Oh yeah, I'm gonna play for X amount of dollars.
Speaker 5 (17:53):
All right O, there's like, oh you are huh, all right, well,
we're gonna cut that in half.
Speaker 2 (17:57):
You'll see how give me those money?
Speaker 3 (17:59):
This is this is our tax system. That's how it
works here.
Speaker 4 (18:03):
Well, it would have been cool to play in the tournament, though, Jonas,
But I knew I would have been sitting on the
bench watching. I would have been like Brownie James, hoping
that I got an opportunity. If I did get an opportunity,
I might have put seventeen up too, you know what
I mean.
Speaker 6 (18:18):
I was I was.
Speaker 4 (18:19):
I was a grinder man, like I get those those
dirty work points, like i'd have got I would have
got me some rebounds. I'd have got me some some
you know, some dirty points.
Speaker 6 (18:28):
You know.
Speaker 4 (18:28):
I would have got some steals, probably a couple of blocks.
Speaker 6 (18:32):
You know. Yeah, I was. I was pretty dope, man.
I went pretty high. Think about this.
Speaker 4 (18:37):
I was able to get at the height of me
playing basketball, I was able to get my wrist onto
the top of the white banking square.
Speaker 5 (18:44):
That's how how I could get That's how Yeah, I
mean I could top. I could touch the square. I
couldn't get my wrists on top of it, though, yeah,
top of it.
Speaker 4 (18:52):
Like I was trying to go up to the top,
to to the top of the backboard like they there
was dudes I played with that could actually they would
put money on the top of the bank board, and
dudes could actually go up high enough to grab the
dollar bills or the twenty dollars bills off of the backboard,
the top of the backboard.
Speaker 3 (19:10):
Marshal Let said, ran do that.
Speaker 4 (19:13):
Yeah, it's pretty that's some crazy athleticism.
Speaker 9 (19:17):
Man.
Speaker 4 (19:17):
I couldn't get up quite that high, but I got
up there up there.
Speaker 3 (19:20):
What do you think your one shining mother would have been.
Speaker 6 (19:24):
When I played?
Speaker 4 (19:26):
Yeah? Like or what or am I? Am I doing
the hypothetical hair? Am I making it up?
Speaker 2 (19:32):
I know what it was?
Speaker 4 (19:35):
Oh?
Speaker 6 (19:35):
Off the court?
Speaker 4 (19:36):
I mean, come on, there's there's a lot of shining
moments of the court.
Speaker 1 (19:39):
I know, I know what it was. What you stupid about?
What Bob Huggins teaching you? The way?
Speaker 4 (19:51):
I have no I will say this, basketball players or
basketball coaches and their swag is way different than than
college football coaches. That's That's what I will say that.
The recruitment is very different.
Speaker 3 (20:07):
One's militant, the other ones.
Speaker 5 (20:08):
The other ones like just a shade away from being
like a player, like a shade away from being a
part of.
Speaker 3 (20:14):
The Jesus Shuttle recruiting trip.
Speaker 6 (20:17):
In the game.
Speaker 4 (20:18):
It's crazy how probably outside the door, you know, they
know the handshakes, they know the lingo, they know all
of it.
Speaker 6 (20:25):
Man, And and it's like the way they talk, It's.
Speaker 4 (20:28):
Like like, yeah, I'd love to play for Bobby Huggins, man,
I thought about it. I would have went in there
and been in a an enforcer. That's what I would
have been. I'm telling you dudes, would have been leaving
the game with bruised contusions on their legs because I
would have been tearing their asses up like pause, but
I would have been putting my my bony elbows into
(20:49):
them them right in the middle of them quad muscles.
Because that's about where I was at in terms of height.
You know, I was short, so but I was going
to get my leverage, man, I was gonna get my
leverage points. I was going to play for position. I
was going to out quick. You So, some dudes are
slow man basketball players. They're they're they're they don't move
well in small areas of space. It's harder for them.
(21:13):
That's why when you get guys like Nate Robinson and
you know, guys like Stefan Maulberry and you know Alan Everson,
they were able to operate so well because dudes don't
move that quick. You know, they're too tall, just can't
can't do it. So anyways, there's enough for that.
Speaker 6 (21:28):
I thought.
Speaker 4 (21:29):
I thought that the games yesterday, we're definitely super entertaining.
I'm glad that Q is number two on on the list.
I'm curious to see what happens.
Speaker 5 (21:39):
Here's a lot instead of getting on today and you
guys be like, yeah, man, like you're carrying the flag
for us, you know, carrying the flag.
Speaker 3 (21:47):
For LEU might be who knows.
Speaker 5 (21:51):
But instead of that, I get Jonas trying to like
be like, no, let Steve Hartman wain Come on, Steve.
Speaker 3 (21:57):
That's how insecure Jonas is, correct.
Speaker 4 (22:01):
I mean, Jonas isn't what like like ninth tenth place,
because which isn't bad damn. Patrick didn't give a damn
about the bracket this year because he's poo pooing it
real bad. He's like almost bringing up the rear. So
I mean, you know, Jason McIntyre, McIntyre must have had
somebody do it for him. Hey, y'all go ahead and fill.
Speaker 6 (22:21):
It out for me.
Speaker 2 (22:22):
McIntyre did it with his feet. I got it.
Speaker 4 (22:26):
He did it backwards, you know, watch me do it backwards.
I don't know, because he's in he's in bad shape too.
There's some guys that you would think would have better
brackets that aren't doing really well.
Speaker 1 (22:37):
I mean, like, here's here's my issue with the whole thing.
Like I've been doing this long enough with Brady that
I know what he does. He puts his in early
and then he waits, and then he goes and he
sees what I picked, and then he.
Speaker 3 (22:50):
Even close to it because you picked Saint John's. I
literally had St. John's.
Speaker 5 (22:56):
And look, we can get into this another time because
they're already up against it. But for all the Kentucky
fans out there, there are so many deeper storylines and
things there. And I hated the fact that I foresaw
that outcome happening, and I definitely did not want it
to happen.
Speaker 3 (23:12):
I'll just leave with that.
Speaker 4 (23:15):
I do know this.
Speaker 6 (23:16):
I want this to happen.
Speaker 1 (23:17):
I want us to take this show all the way
up until nine am Eastern time, six o'clock Pacific. I
would like us to have another edition of in case
you missed it.
Speaker 6 (23:23):
I'm like the.
Speaker 1 (23:24):
Office ir an hour two and we're going to close
up shop with Lee's leftovers.
Speaker 6 (23:28):
Go to base again. Man, you got that base in
your voice.
Speaker 2 (23:31):
Oh yeah, bruh, I kind of like it, sub bruh.
Speaker 4 (23:34):
Let's stay there, man, let's stay right there with it.
Speaker 2 (23:37):
What's up? Johnson's up?
Speaker 1 (23:39):
Johnson coming up next here though from the Tyraq dot
Com Studios, we are going to have the very latest
on the search, the hunt that has lasted way longer
than a lot of people expected.
Speaker 2 (23:50):
It's yours right here on Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 9 (23:53):
Be sure to catch live editions of Two Pros and
a Cup of Joe with Brady Quinn, LeVar Arrington, and
Jonas Knox days at six am Eastern, three am Pacific
on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 1 (24:07):
Two Pros and a Cup of Joe Fox Sports Radio,
LeVar Arrington, Brady Quinn, Jonas Knox with you here.
Speaker 2 (24:12):
Coming up a little over fifteen minutes.
Speaker 1 (24:14):
From now here from the Tirak dot com studios, We've
got a weird story involving an NFL quarterback we are
going to tell. That'll be yours and another edition of
In case you missed it. Speaking of NFL quarterbacks, it
is time for our daily check in on the latest
with what the hell's going on with Aaron Rodgers and
who's he going to sign with? Report came out over
(24:38):
the weekend that Rogers met with the Pittsburgh Steelers on Friday.
It was like a six hour visit or something along
those lines. I think Jeremy Fowler or ESPN pointed out
that it was such a serious meeting that Pittsburgh skipped
Michigan's pro day, which is a big deal for the
Pittsburgh Steelers.
Speaker 2 (24:56):
So everybody was there.
Speaker 1 (24:58):
GM coach front Off was like offensive coordinator. Everybody met
with Rogers h And according to Mike Florio uh talking
with a source that it's a safe bet that Rogers
will eventually sign with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Now we just
now we just wait around to see when that's gonna happen.
So there's your your latest on the Aaron.
Speaker 4 (25:18):
Rods So they said that the agent advised his his client,
Aaron Rodgers, to take his time. What they said like
two weeks or so. I think that that's what they said.
I mean, my my biggest question is I would pose
to you guys, like because that's it got me thinking
because we did say that, like Q you did mention
that last week that it's like he doesn't need to
(25:41):
be in a rush to sign with a team. But
my my thoughts are, well, if that's the case, why
is why is Pittsburgh handling it this way? That's that
that would be like what's the reason for waiting? Is
it because you don't want to report in? If you
(26:01):
don't want to report in, just say I don't want
to report in. I'll sign with you, but I just
don't want to report in. Is it you're trying to
hold out for more money? How does that work? Because
is he in that much of the demand where waiting
is going to add more money as time passes on.
I just I'm just curious as to what is the
(26:23):
thought process behind waiting.
Speaker 6 (26:25):
I mean, what's left to look at? What's less left.
Speaker 4 (26:29):
To monitor or be aware of in terms of where
he's going to go play.
Speaker 5 (26:36):
I think the quick answer to that would be that
the off season has not really started yet, so he's
he's not missing out on really anything at this point. So,
you know, until the offseason training activities begin, and really
there's a couple of phases, right we all know, there's
the workout phase. We talked about the workout bonuses that
(26:57):
some players have in their contract for that portion of
it that extends into the practices and all that. Until
that time frame comes, you know, then you're probably looking
at a little bit more of a deadline being on this.
But again, you know, those training sessions occur and you
still haven't drafted your rookies, some of which are going
to be starters, you know, some of which are going
(27:19):
to be prime contributors on special teams and backups on
offense or defense.
Speaker 3 (27:23):
So when you really think about it.
Speaker 5 (27:26):
Like he's played forever outside of learning a new system,
which you know he did degrees of that, you can
make the case whether it was during his time in
Green Bay or even being with the New York Jets,
I think he's gonna be fine.
Speaker 3 (27:40):
Like he's gonna be way ahead where the rookies are at.
Speaker 5 (27:42):
So looking at it from that standpoint again, I keep
going back to the draft being in essence the deadline,
because at that point, the Steelers could have a player
drop to them. They could make a decision on a
veteran guy, which that's a whole other conversation with who
still is out there based on some reports. But I think, look,
(28:04):
if his agent's telling him to be patient, and Rogers
has talked to the team, he's talked to the coaching staff,
which we've seen from reports, and they're all on the
same page, it's kind of like, all right, well, you know,
like what's the rush for any of them at this point?
I mean, free agency is still kind of open, even
though it's almost done, at least for some of the
big names. It wasn't a huge free agent class, and
(28:26):
so that being said, like they weren't changing the trajectory
of this team through that.
Speaker 3 (28:31):
It took a trade.
Speaker 5 (28:32):
I mean, DK Metcalf's been the biggest thing that's happened
to this team, and that was via a trade. So
I look at him to say, I understand why there's
no reason to rush into making this decision. I think
there's a lot of players who when they're trying to
decide if they want to keep playing or retire, it
drags on into this to some degree. And I think, again,
(28:53):
this is about his legacy, and this is probably about
whether or not he wants to go into a situation
and figure out if he wants to do it again,
and if he can actually win doing it. I don't
think he took the Jets opportunity thinking like everything was
gonna go the way it did, right, I mean, looking
back on it, if he would have known this, like
(29:13):
he probably would have went to the New York Jets,
I'm gonna have taken up a different opportunity, maybe just retired.
So I don't think he wants to make that same
mistake twice. And I don't think he would if he
went to the Pittsburgh Steelers. But at the same time,
I don't think he's rushing to make that decision to
go there.
Speaker 2 (29:29):
Either, take your time, you know what I mean, Like,
let's just have this.
Speaker 4 (29:35):
We could do it, Baba, take your time, do it tonight.
Speaker 1 (29:39):
Okay, you know, give somebody something to talk about. You know,
something wrong with that? I mean, you know how long
we had to sit there and debate whether or not
the Cowboys were going to give Dak Prescott a contract
during COVID. Like we've been through worse in sports media,
all right, Like we went through COVID, We went through
all that crap. Nothing going on, Like, just let Leve
Rogers take his time, make a decision. He's probably gonna
(30:01):
end up in Pittsburgh. And if you're the Steelers, what
other options you got?
Speaker 4 (30:06):
Well, if you're Aaron Rodgers, what other options do you have?
Speaker 6 (30:09):
You know what I mean?
Speaker 4 (30:09):
I think they're both in the same situation here, and
I would ultimately say the situation is.
Speaker 6 (30:17):
Best for both sides.
Speaker 4 (30:19):
So if they met with them and they had the
conversation and they you know, didn't go to a Michigan
pro day, because that can be offensive right for a
team to not show up to a blue blood school
for their pro day and miss out on seeing the
prospects and having that time with the coaching staff and
(30:40):
with with the players for them to do this meeting,
So they showed the level of importance and just the
way that it looks with with the way they brought
in DK Metcalf. They they have pickings, they have Friar Move.
I mean, this is this is uh this is wide
(31:00):
receiving corps that could turn out to be one of
the you know, top tandems in in the National Football League.
And you also will you know, have more opportunities for
Friar Move to to get involved and and take maybe
another step forward and being an elite tight end as
well in the league. So I think it's a great
(31:20):
opportunity for for Aaron Rodgers. And like I said, you
know a lot of people are saying, you know, kind
of like sloppy seconds.
Speaker 6 (31:28):
This is this is a horrible thing.
Speaker 4 (31:30):
For for Pittsburgh to be in a situation like this.
You know, Oh yeah, I heard, I heard, I mean
I'll throw I heard Harmon said, I'm not uh heard
Harman said, uh.
Speaker 5 (31:45):
So he gets he gets the first boy because he's
the top of the bracket.
Speaker 3 (31:49):
Is that why not not?
Speaker 6 (31:51):
Not?
Speaker 4 (31:51):
Not Hartman, Harmon different, different, Mike, you know that, damn.
Speaker 6 (31:58):
The interesting thing is how.
Speaker 3 (32:01):
Darius my guy.
Speaker 4 (32:03):
I feel like there's a lot of people that feel
is though Minnesota was was definitely the destination that that
Aaron Rodgers wanted. And then now how do you handle
things from here? Which I think that the positives and
all of this is is that the Steelers are still
in need, and they're not too far off from being
(32:24):
a more competitive team, and Aaron Rodgers needs a team,
and we don't know how far off from being what
he can be in terms of a positive contributor to
a team. We just know he did finish out his
season strong with the Jets, and in the right situation,
I think everybody would assume that Aaron Rodgers comes and
(32:45):
he has a comeback year type of year, come back
player type of year for a team, and I think
that the Steelers will be the ideal place for that. So,
you know, it'll just be interesting to see how quickly
it plays out.
Speaker 1 (32:58):
You know, I'm curious to see if they're all full
of piss and vinegar. If Rogers signs in Pittsburgh Roethlisberger
because he's not a big fan of other quarterbacks that
have tried to take over in Pittsburgh. Mason Rudolph got drafted,
and Roethlisberger took time out of his off season to
call into some sports radio show on the weekend to
criticize the move. If they land Rogers, who's got the
(33:21):
credentials he's got. I'm just curious how Ben Roethlisberger is
going to handle that because he's not shy about airing
out the organization and what's going on with the organization.
So we will wait to see and if there's any
news on Aaron Rodgers signing in Pittsburgh, we will have
it covered here on Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 4 (33:39):
Because it will happen this early in the day.
Speaker 2 (33:41):
You know, well I wouldn't.
Speaker 4 (33:42):
We'll get that breaking news. Damn, you got to be
awake to make some signing. Yeah, its alarms is just
going off while we.
Speaker 1 (33:56):
All you know, don't forget, we were all the air
when OJ died filling in for Dak We were.
Speaker 6 (34:03):
I was in state college.
Speaker 2 (34:04):
Yeah, he wasn't.
Speaker 6 (34:07):
No.

Good morning, Jonas, Good morning Brady, Good morning LeVar. Guys.
In case you missed this, Uh, we might have to put.
Speaker 3 (36:10):
On some Hayley.
Speaker 7 (36:11):
Hey Brady, we might have to put on some our
detective hat. Here but a little bit of a scandal,
or not a scandal, but a viral moment. Over the weekend,
Jade and Daniels go into the women's NCAA tournament to
cheer on his friend Juji Watkins from usc UH. They
seem very chummy together in the stands. After her game,
she had a great game against UNC Greensboro, but next
(36:35):
time the cameras panned over to them, Jade and Daniel's mother,
Regina Jackson, was sitting in between, seeming very seriously serious,
and many thinking that she's trying to keep her claws
out of her son. But some rumors say that they
actually might just be cousins. They're both from southern California,
they both in the same circles, they're both members.
Speaker 3 (36:54):
How does that work?
Speaker 6 (36:55):
Are they?
Speaker 5 (36:55):
Are they cousins? You think like by blood or just
by by name.
Speaker 6 (37:00):
I don't know. I don't know.
Speaker 4 (37:03):
There's there is the possibility that there could be a relation.
He is from Rancho, so you know, I don't know.
I don't know where Juju is from, but there could
be ties there.
Speaker 5 (37:15):
I don't Could they just be cousins though, or call
each other cousins?
Speaker 4 (37:18):
They I mean, I don't see what would keep them
from being able to do that if they wanted to.
Speaker 3 (37:26):
Even if they weren't cousins.
Speaker 4 (37:27):
I'm saying, even if they weren't cousins.
Speaker 5 (37:30):
Yeah, it would be a little weird though, if you
called him cousin or cousin and you're making alt or something, you.
Speaker 4 (37:34):
Know, that would be very You know, Jonas Knoxy might
be Knox family issues.
Speaker 2 (37:44):
What you what's that supposed to be?
Speaker 6 (37:47):
I don't know.
Speaker 4 (37:47):
I just after spending time around your family, I'd have
just thought that that would be something that you guys
would do. Damn joke it. I don't though, you know,
but I have heard of cousins kiss and cousins. Yeah, yeah,
I have heard of that. Anyways, what else you got leave?
Speaker 6 (38:09):
By the way, let's get out of here.
Speaker 2 (38:14):
Well, congrats do you var in Penn State?
Speaker 7 (38:17):
You got a five time champion in n c A
A crazy wrestler, Carter Starrocci. Yeah, incredible man, first time ever?
Speaker 3 (38:24):
What did anyone watch the Gable Stevenson have you eight
wrestling match?
Speaker 2 (38:29):
That was a big upset, right?
Speaker 3 (38:30):
Yeah? What was the last thing that? Bree was the
last guy's name?
Speaker 2 (38:33):
I think? So is the Air Force transfer.
Speaker 3 (38:35):
Yeah, air Force. Yeah, that was.
Speaker 4 (38:38):
What you're talking about. You're talking about the kid out
of what out of Minnesota?
Speaker 3 (38:42):
Is it Gable Stevenson was in Minnesota. Yeah, he's the
Olympian right. Yeah, and then Reese is the kid out
of Oklahoma State. Butte had never lost. Is that accurate?
Speaker 4 (38:55):
Yeah, I don't care Penn State. It's all about Penn State.
Baby national champs. Carter's got five first time ever. I'm
not changing. Don't change the topic, don't change.
Speaker 5 (39:08):
Trump didn't show up to the uh, didn't show up
to the press. Stay wrestling, yeh.
Speaker 4 (39:14):
I mean.
Speaker 6 (39:16):
I'll leave that one alone.
Speaker 4 (39:18):
I'll get around that one and just keep it again
focused in on the fact that Penn State runs wrestling.
So there you go.
Speaker 3 (39:27):
We they do. I don't know about the heavyweight class,
but they do. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (39:30):
Well, we own wrestling, so you know, heavyweight, it doesn't matter.
We we got a really good heavyweight he just didn't
get that far this year. But we own wrestling. So
that's that's the point of your story.
Speaker 8 (39:40):
Lee.
Speaker 4 (39:40):
Thank you for bringing it up. Shots out the Carter,
Shots out to the rest of the guys. UH, and
congratulations pat Craft.
Speaker 6 (39:47):
You're continuing to do some amazing work there.
Speaker 5 (39:50):
Just going back to the Gable Stevenson take that on
all that didn't didn't he try to make a run in.
Speaker 2 (39:54):
The w w E, Yeah, I just work out.
Speaker 3 (39:58):
You don't want to leave it at someone.
Speaker 5 (40:00):
Well, someone made a comment that like it hasn't been
a great run, Like he tried to make the thing
that didn't work, and he goes back to Minnesota to
wrestle and that didn't work. Yeah, they brought him him,
by the way, Why didn't he go back to Penn State.
Speaker 3 (40:17):
Why would he go to Minnesota?
Speaker 6 (40:19):
Yeah, he probably wasn't good enough.
Speaker 4 (40:21):
Damn we got We sent him on his way after
decorated career though for a Gable.
Speaker 3 (40:28):
Yeah, I was gonna say, like, wouldn't you want that
if you're Penn State?
Speaker 4 (40:32):
Yeah, we want you to want to be there because
we own wrestling.
Speaker 3 (40:36):
I heard he thought the academics were better at Minnesota.
Speaker 2 (40:39):
He was very critical of the size of the airport too, was.
Speaker 5 (40:42):
He Now I get that, Yeah, man flying to Minneapolis
versus Happy Valley.
Speaker 6 (40:46):
No disrespect fate this one. And look at all this
hate y'all too hat
