(01:37):
So if you just looked at the Pittsburgh Steelers final
score yesterday against the Cincinnati Bengals, you would say, I
can't wait to hear.
Speaker 1 (01:44):
It to you.
Speaker 4 (01:45):
I mean, listen, it was. It put up sixteen points.
What's the big deal. But if you actually go and
do a deeper dive into the total yards and just
how the offense looked post Matt Canada and the first
game since the Matt Canada firing, you can see that
there was clearly a difference difference. It looked like it
was a different football team on offense, at least for
(02:06):
that much. And so the Pittsburgh stack it was actually
like exciting plays.
Speaker 2 (02:12):
I mean, I think the biggest thing was they just
pushed the ball down the field vertically right. It was
it was pretty simple, like you have the players to
do it, why not do it? And the offense gained
over four hundred yards. The first time they've outgained an
opponent all season. Kenny Pickett, who's hasn't even been a
starter for two full years, he had the second most
(02:35):
production in his career in the first game that Mike
Salvin's calling for the Pittsburgh Steels as their play caller.
I just wasn't that hard. Wasn't that something you know,
didn't need to like, you know, try to make it
any you know, more difficult than it needed to be.
You're breathing some new life into this team, into this offense,
(02:55):
and you're now seeing the rewards.
Speaker 1 (02:57):
So you know, when I watched the game and and
paid attention to everything that was going on, I'm like,
you know, Jake Browning, he's a he's a fill in.
But we've seen backups step in and do some pretty
interesting things during the course of the time of the
(03:19):
starter being out. And you know we were talking about, well,
people talked about Rush and and how you know.
Speaker 5 (03:28):
Maybe there's a quarterback come people.
Speaker 1 (03:31):
People. I won't say us on this show. I'll say me.
I said it on this show.
Speaker 2 (03:39):
There could have been a quarterback playing Rush the band,
which showed us what was gonna hate on. But they
actually have some good hits.
Speaker 1 (03:45):
They do have some good paying The paul A song, Yeah,
that was a good one too.
Speaker 2 (03:50):
It was the band Rush.
Speaker 1 (03:52):
It was both of.
Speaker 2 (03:52):
You because the elite singers got the unique sound.
Speaker 1 (03:56):
That's correct. Which, by the way, Sam will bring us
back to Rush one hundred percent, Tom, So let's make
sure it's their best ones.
Speaker 4 (04:06):
Everyone talks about the drummer for Rush, but they base
playing by Eddie Lee.
Speaker 3 (04:12):
Ye.
Speaker 1 (04:14):
So, but when you look at this Bengals team, it's
still the same team that basically, you know, owned owned
the Bills at what I believe is at the height
of their their being what they are own the Kansas
City Chiefs at being the height of what they are.
They're all still there. Outside of Joe Burrow. That's kind
(04:38):
of a big deal. It's a big deal. But your
defense is still the same defense. You still have a
ton of talent on the outside, you still got mixing
in the backfield, you still have all the elements to
be able to put together a win. And and so
to me, that's what I was really looking at, is
like this is really it's a it's a fine football
(04:59):
team that Nelly is reeling from not having Joe Burrow.
But Nonetheless, it's still a very very good football team.
They're going to play defense. They played defense hard, and
their offense was well, you know, kind of serviceable. But
you look at what what Pittsburgh brought to the table,
and it was more risk taking. Whoa, they took more risk,
(05:23):
there was more excitement. The defense played the way the
defense played. As long as you have a healthy TJ. Watt,
you've got a chance to win. And to me that's
you know, you now have a two to two man backfield.
And most would say I think that when you're having
success as as a football team, especially if you're using
your backfield, you want to have two guys that can
(05:46):
carry the load. Pause. But with that being said, I
just really think that this this Pittsburgh team is a
very very sneaky team and I don't look at them
as a super Bowl contender, but I do look at
them as a season spoiler. They can spoil. They could
possibly make it into which not possibly, it looks as
(06:09):
though they'll make it into the playoffs and they could
be a team that spoils somebody's playoff bit that's what
I look at and see in this Steelers team right now. Well,
Kenny Pickett spoke after the game. Yeah, he did.
Speaker 4 (06:22):
He spoke after the game after his performance in the
first edition of the Pittsburgh Steelers Post Matt Canada.
Speaker 6 (06:29):
Let's tick a list, Okay, kind of flow of calls,
like how coach Soley likes to call games and our
communication on the side line is great, which he's been
there with you know, my right hand man since I
got here. So the communication has always been great with
coach solely, and it's just now that he has to
call the players. And obviously it's just an adjustment. But
felt like we handled it really well. It's a lot
of a lot of adversity, a lot of things going on,
moving parts, But like I said, it was it was
(06:51):
it felt like a short week almost because you know,
when we got the news and how quickly we all
had to kind of react to what happened and flush
and move on and get ready to go this week. So,
you know, hots off to our guys in our locker room.
Speaker 1 (07:02):
And did that you mean coach Sully from from Houston
via Baltimore Ravens.
Speaker 4 (07:08):
That coach Mike Sullivan.
Speaker 2 (07:10):
He's been in the NFL for eighteen years old. He
was the Giants.
Speaker 1 (07:15):
It was Kulley. That was the coach, David Sully. Okay,
they called him Sully. Okay, I was confused there.
Speaker 2 (07:21):
They called him Sully too, But yeah, no, he's he's
been in the NFL for a long time. He was
started with the Jaguars, I believe in the early two
thousands and then kind of worked his way up through.
But it was part of Super Bowl there with the Giants, right, you.
Speaker 1 (07:34):
Know that that's that's uh, that's flattering to put out there.
He's been my right hand man. I mean that's a
vote of confidence, right.
Speaker 2 (07:45):
Anytime he's your quarterback coach, you know, that's that's huge.
You know you're so close with your quarterback coach. And
for me, it was ripped sheer when I first got
into the NFL. I mean I literally I sort of
got I bought a house that was probably a driver
and a wedge away from from where he lived, because
because I wanted to live close to where he was
(08:07):
so I could go see him in off hours and
talk to him when I needed to grab a beer
and whatever. It was like I literally.
Speaker 1 (08:13):
Went took that into consideration.
Speaker 2 (08:15):
Hell yeah, Dan, Hell yeah, like like that was it
was that important to me. And also I love Rip.
I mean to this day we still keep in touch.
Speaker 1 (08:23):
You know, hey, coach, where you live? Man? Okay, well
what's the address? Right?
Speaker 2 (08:27):
I mean it was. It wasn't as creepy as that,
but it was like I was looking in that vicinity.
I mean, look, Braylan, Braylan was in that area too,
Brenan Edwards, because that was my guy I wanted to
I wanted to be close to one of the guys
I was gonna be building a relationship with.
Speaker 1 (08:40):
You know, if I heard that y'all did a street
football game, I would be I mean, I'd be fan.
I mean, I'm already a fan of both of you guys,
but I would be way bigger fan if you told
me y'all lived in the same community and was actually
doing real life street football games. Who's going to beat
him in Brailn I mean those were I mean, I'm
just gonna tell you street football game. You can't just
(09:01):
take for granted that two NFL superstars will be able
to win that game. Just be honest with you, because
they're pretty competitive games.
Speaker 2 (09:09):
Man, different rules, man, go guys taking cheap shots and.
Speaker 7 (09:13):
All contst know how to use the crafts you know
you got you got hard where the light poles are,
Like people be jumping off the curb like it's not
out of bounds, Like it's just it changes some places.
Speaker 1 (09:24):
There's more gravel on the ground. You got to know
where you just there's just different rules that can make
it a little bit more difficult to be a polished
NFL football player. Man, I'll take my chances. You want
to take, you give me Brady and Braidlen. I'll take
my chances bombs. I'm good dropping dimes.
Speaker 2 (09:41):
But the point is it's like he's gonna be very
complimentary and say that about him, like Jim Zorn, the
guy got close to as well, you know Tater, Carl Smith,
like all those guys. You spend so much time with them,
you know Adam Gase when he was with us for
a year in Denver. Like you spend you end up
knowing the guys in the quarterback room better than you
know your family. Like I swear to God, I could
(10:02):
tell you exactly how Derek Anderson, Ken Dorsey, any of
those guys, Brett Ratliff when he was in there with
this Rich Bartel, like any of the quarterbacks who came
through when you spend enough time with them, you could
literally talk about like how they're going to drink their coffee,
how they were Are they a morning person? Are they not?
You know, like are they going to work out with
(10:22):
you in the morning? Are they after practice? Like you
knew so many little idiosyncrasies about those guys because you
sat in a room with them all and you just
talk about life, talk about ball like it was. So Look,
that relationship clearly is the easiest one to see translate
onto the field. It's why I think if you're in
OEC and you're not in your quarterback room, you're doing
your team of disservice because that guy needs to be
(10:44):
an extension of you out there in the field. And
if he knows exactly how you're thinking about things, then
he's gonna be able to execute it and explain that
too to guys in the field in that moment. So
it's you know, you could see why it worked in
a one game sample size, but I'm really opt a
mystic and there and pick it through some dimes.
Speaker 1 (11:03):
Dude, he was throwing it, Dude, the ball he threw.
Speaker 2 (11:05):
Up the sidelines to Pickens, who made a nice catch.
I mean, thank God, he didn't. He almost got his
legs rolled up on. But I mean he threw some
dimes and you see it and you go, there it is.
It's been there yea the whole time, and now you're
finally starting to see it. So I'm happy for Mike
Tomlin the Steelers. Even though I literally grew up with
(11:26):
a lot of hate my heart for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
It's good to see them reaching their potential though. That's ultimate.
Speaker 1 (11:31):
They're going to be a playoff team, Yeah, no doubt
they should be.
Speaker 4 (11:34):
Their schedule is cake. I mean, I don't want to say.
They've got obviously Baltimore to finish up the year and
then Indianapolis. Speaking of backup quarterbacks who have made an impact,
Gardner Minshew's got them right now. But man like, if
like if ten is the threshold, as we laid out
and we talked about listening, if you get to ten wins,
that's where you need to get to if you want
to be a playoff team in the AFC. I mean,
(11:56):
you just find three wins easy Arizona, New England, and
then since he again at home, there you go. And
then if you can get one of those other ones,
we could be looking at possibly an eleven win team
who fired a coordinator mid season and they're going to
be a playoff team again. Mike Tomlins got them back
in the playoffs. It's kind of wild man, and so
(12:17):
now we get to see how this thing moves, you know,
goes moving forward. But you know, Najee Harris was more
involved yesterday. I just I wonder if if it was
just this, like, what were the conversations like, was Matt
Canada just not open minded to hey, you know, work
this in, you know, talk with so and so.
Speaker 1 (12:38):
Mike Solden got the idea is.
Speaker 2 (12:40):
There's an art to how you call plays in games.
I've been around coordinators who are unbelievable game planning, breaking
down film to know what a defense is going to
do in a certain scenario, like all of that, and
you feel so prepared, so confident going into the game,
and then you get in the game that I'll call
into this place or there's no like rhythm and rhyme
(13:01):
to it in what they're doing, and there's an art
to being able to see the field, call plays, anticipate
what's happening, like and kind of like the difference between
playing checkers and chess, right, you always want to be
setting things up for that next move and anticipating what
your opponent's doing. There's times when you feel like when
guys are out there and they're just calling plays, they're
(13:22):
just playing checkers. They're like one move at a time,
and they're not thinking about like this play is going
to set up this play with a double mover or
a shot off this run play or off of this action.
I mean, there are some things you look at and
go all right, like you can see where the creativity
comes from. I mean even just with like what Joe
Brady did. There's a few times in that Bills game
(13:43):
where they set up different actions and varieties of screens
and then the different players off of the same personnel,
same formation, like similar action, and they both hit and
you're going, yep, there it is like one was the
digs when I think came back to it was either
one of the tight ends. But you're watching it, You're
going all right, like there it is, like that's that's
(14:03):
why like they elevateed Joe breeding in that spot is
you find like creative ways of finding a rhythm and
keeping the defense on their heels when you're going out
there calling things that like they've either seen before and
then trying to build off of so you're trying to
catch them, you know, sleeping or catch them out of position.
Speaker 1 (14:22):
You know, Just just to toss this out there, since
we're talking about the new, newly rejuvenated offense of the
Pittsburgh Stealers, you do know that the Ravens had the Jags,
the Niners, the Dolphins, and the Steelers consecutively to end
out the season. Tough schedule, man, that is one hell
(14:46):
of a tough schedule to have to go down the end.
Speaker 2 (14:49):
Who's got a harder schedule with them or Kansas City?
Speaker 1 (14:53):
I would say that's as hard as hard gets to
have the Jaguars the way they're playing and forty nine
Ers the way they're playing.
Speaker 2 (15:02):
Do you know schedule the rest of the right? I think
tell me.
Speaker 1 (15:05):
I mean, I just think that is Baltimore's schedule is
more difficult. It's just hard to It's hard to say
that there would be way more difficult.
Speaker 2 (15:12):
Dallas is on Kansas City schedule than Yes, I think
LaVar is gonna say Baltimore has the fourteen.
Speaker 1 (15:16):
No, I'm not. I'm not gonna hate on Dallas. I
think Dallas is playing very very fine football right now.
I think they're up there. I just would say this
would be a difficult schedule to say that there's one
harder than this one. I mean, unless you got Philly
in there somewhere.
Speaker 4 (15:32):
Trying to say the Steelers are gonna win that.
Speaker 1 (15:34):
I mean, I'm just saying that. Bro. Like, if you
look at who the Steelers have left and you mentioned it,
it is what kind of a cakewalk?
Speaker 2 (15:42):
Why did you stop saying the Stillers Never?
Speaker 1 (15:46):
I never say still I never say Steelers like steel metal.
Speaker 2 (15:51):
You don't see how you were you were saying Stillers.
Speaker 4 (15:53):
Stillers, man, I mean, if they make the playoffs and
they make a legitimate run, can we place the steel
There's polka song every single day?
Speaker 1 (16:02):
Why do you say the polka though? Can you play
the poka? That's what it's called. Can you play the
one that's the here we go? Do we even have
the here we go? Pittsburgh Steelers song?
Speaker 4 (16:12):
Wants that when you get the pok what do you
mean who wants that?
Speaker 2 (16:15):
We want it?
Speaker 1 (16:17):
Here we go boom, boom, Here we go boom. That's
just a chant. That's just the check. That's just a chant.
We go there, boom boom, here we go. Here we go, Steelers,
(16:41):
Here we go, Hey Jonus, Pittsburgh's going to the zuper b.
Here we go.
Speaker 4 (16:48):
Yeah, this is a real deal right here, way no way.
Speaker 1 (16:51):
I mean, I mean, you gotta jomp, you gotta clop
your head, you gotta job, you gotta do this.
Speaker 2 (16:59):
You got that at the table stealers.
Speaker 1 (17:03):
You gotta do that right there. I don't even know
when to hell that means, but you gotta do that
when you listen to start slinging meat balls around. I
don't know why I always felt like this is because
I grew up around Italian. I just always felt like this,
I mean Italian type.
Speaker 4 (17:20):
Of song, Like why is it got to be Italian?
Speaker 1 (17:23):
Because that's why I grew up around disrespectful and we
listened to the songs like is this what you do
at the table?
Speaker 4 (17:29):
Hey Brady, I'd like to apologize to your family. I mean,
I don't think I'm assuming this is a I don't feelie.
Speaker 2 (17:35):
We already decided like pos not Italian.
Speaker 1 (17:37):
We said it is Polish or something.
Speaker 4 (17:39):
It's like check check, yeah, it's check.
Speaker 1 (17:42):
There's a lot of Polish people in Pittsburgh.
Speaker 2 (17:45):
We went over this in a previous show. Yes, Pocus
is not Italian. I swear on everything. The Pithons want
to claim it.
Speaker 1 (17:56):
You know, I don't know, man, I don't think that.
Speaker 2 (17:58):
I don't think the DeVito family don't know. Man, what's
to claim? I don't know.
Speaker 1 (18:02):
I don't know that that's true.
Speaker 2 (18:03):
I mean they'll claim Sinatra then you know, some other.
Speaker 1 (18:06):
I don't know, man, it's Fortaliano.
Speaker 2 (18:10):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (18:11):
Man, Yeah, I think that's what it should be. The
Italian don't want that. You might be right. You could
be right Byza. I don't know, though, you gotta.
Speaker 2 (18:21):
Be like that one quite possibly the best thing you
saw yesterday it was the shots of the DeVito fa believable.
It was like I was like, is this is this
like an opening episode of Sopranos?
Speaker 1 (18:36):
That's not sound like that? Right?
Speaker 2 (18:38):
That was awesome.
Speaker 4 (18:41):
I was better than that game, that's for sure, because man,
oh man, yeah, see this is.
Speaker 1 (18:48):
That's more what is that?
Speaker 4 (18:49):
No?
Speaker 1 (18:50):
See that to me, that's more like Spanish.
Speaker 2 (18:52):
Astan't PoCA.
Speaker 1 (18:55):
But that's see that comes across to me as like
more like Spanish Miami vibe.
Speaker 5 (19:02):
It's literally called mambo Italiano, come on, come out.
Speaker 1 (19:06):
I get it, but I just I'm just telling you.
The vibe that it gives me is like Miami.
Speaker 4 (19:12):
Jerry Vale is another good one.
Speaker 1 (19:14):
My dad was like said, it's literally called the Italian mambo.
Mambo Italiana. It is two pros and a cup of
joe was from.
Speaker 2 (19:26):
By the way, where is born?
Speaker 1 (19:27):
Where's he?
Speaker 7 (19:28):
Fro?
Speaker 2 (19:28):
Stubenville, Ohio? Yplace? The one Lou Holtz.
Speaker 1 (19:32):
They play some hell of five football on Steubenville Dode.
Speaker 2 (19:35):
I still have the.
Speaker 1 (19:37):
Cult that that has fire come out of it or
his eyes light up or something like that.
Speaker 2 (19:41):
I don't know, something like that.
Speaker 1 (19:43):
You know what I'm talking about, though, Right, there's like
a team, there's a high school team. They have like
a colt or a horse that blights up.
Speaker 2 (19:52):
The reason why I was saying, though, Stupidville and one
legendary coach named Lou Holtz, is he might have some
stuff to say for this weekend.
Speaker 8 (20:00):
Oh wait, well why long? But if that was what
we had to do to get that ending, that was amazing.
And you know what, he ain't soft, not too pause?
Speaker 1 (20:13):
Yeah all right, that is a great call.
Speaker 4 (20:17):
Yeah, And I'll tell you that from the tire Raq
dot Com Studios and coming up next. As Brady pointed out,
some people may have a lot to say based on
what happened this weekend. In the world of football, It's
yours here as Sega.

Speaker 1 (22:06):
Tell us who it is, Yeah.
Speaker 4 (22:10):
Rush, Rush, You know, I actually think the f s
R I R should star exclusively Iowa Sam since he
was off all last week and he's probably got a
lot of war stories from being back home and Cedar.
Speaker 5 (22:25):
Rapid, doesn't you think so? Cedar Rapids. Yeah, I'm from
the city. Yeah, I was City to graduate Rapids Walcott.
Yeah too, he was in Waterloo. That's not too funny.
Speaker 2 (22:38):
He basically lives at that place that he tried to
tell us where you weren't in a janitor's closet.
Speaker 5 (22:43):
Right, I slept in that janitor's closet.
Speaker 1 (22:45):
Huh, it was pink. There was pink in the bathroom
at that janitor's closet place.
Speaker 2 (22:51):
All I know is Big Ten Championship game. Yeah, we'll
be hosting. We'll give the Iowa Hawk guys only three
point on.
Speaker 5 (23:01):
Yeah, we got all week to preview that game. So
let's wait on.
Speaker 4 (23:04):
That, can we You made mention of it was that
the best edition of the game between Michigan and Ohio
State of all time?
Speaker 1 (23:13):
That was all time?
Speaker 2 (23:15):
Yeah, I don't know if I'm going that far. It
was a really good game, dope game. It was awesome
and honestly kind of had a little bit of everything
that you're looking for, like momentum swings and kind of
the drama on everything else. And I think that the
one thing that killed me was seeing Zach Zinner, who's
one of the best offensive linemen in the country, go
(23:37):
down and a lot of people, you know, who don't
follow college football. He came back for his senior year
because they wanted a shot a winning a national championship
and to have him go down, He's gonna be a
top draft pick, you know. I don't know how this
is gonna impact things moving forward. I think he'll be fine,
but you hate seeing that. It was a gruesome injury.
Speaker 4 (23:57):
Was that a knee brace injury? Because he the need
brace on there was no give and.
Speaker 2 (24:03):
I mean he ended up fracturing both tibio fibula, So damn.
I can't. I can't go into the you know, specifics
of like whether the DonJoy player or a role in that.
But the greatest thing is it just stinks when you
see that. That was like the only downside of the game.
Outside of that, it had like all the drama and
intrigue you're looking for. And I just I said it
(24:25):
after the game, and I thought the most the thing
that stood out the most to me was Shroon Moore
and his play calling and the aggressiveness at which he
called the game as their play caller, their interim head coach,
and their own line coach. You know, he really did
early set the tone going for fourth downs. The half
back pass when he called it came at such a
(24:47):
moment where it was wide open. It was It's one
of those play calls in a big game where if
it doesn't go well, you blame them. Yeah, that that
stands out. Yeah, but when it does, you then are
the genius and just to have the cahonas to do
it was incredible, And I thought it was just interesting
that for a guy who could be interviewing, depending on
(25:09):
what happens with Jim Harball after the season, could be
interviewing for the for the Michigan head coaching job to
replace Jim Harbaugh. He really took it and ran with
it the past three weeks and he was the difference.
Like if you look between Hi him and Ryan Day.
I thought Ryan Day called that game and managed that
game extremely conservative.
Speaker 1 (25:29):
Yes he did, Like I agree.
Speaker 2 (25:32):
I thought early in the game there was a fourth
down that I kind of looked at Coach Mine. I
was like, I might think about going for this. Now, granted,
you make that decision if you're the type of person
that wants to dictate things to your opponent. And that's
that's more of how I kind of see the game
from time to time, and especially the way the past
two years have gone, that could have been a statement
(25:53):
play for Ohio State. Now I understand why Ryan Day didn't.
You're in your own territory. Your defense has been really
good all year, so you're betting that Michigan's not gonna
be able to go the long, hard way to get scores.
But the reality was is when Michigan needed to they did,
and in large part because what Ryan Day wasn't willing
to do, Sharon Moore was, and he was. He was
(26:16):
willing to take those chances on fourth downs. He was
willing to take those chances. Went he threw the football,
how he threw the football, And I just thought in
the end, Michigan, I don't even know this price comes
off as controversial if they're necessarily even the better team,
but they were that day, and the way he coached them,
he made them the better team.
Speaker 1 (26:35):
Michigan was not the better team, but they were. They
played better than Ohio State. I think Ohio State left
a lot on the table offensively. I don't understand why
they didn't work. And listen, Marvin Harrison junior head over
one hundred yards, but why do you not work to
get him more involved in your offensive scheme during this game,
(26:57):
the biggest game of the year. How do you not
get him more involved? Like I just didn't understand. I
didn't understand that. And you know your defense is going
to play play well. You know they're going to play
tough defense. But with that being said, Michigan ended up
doing Ohio State's defense the same exact way they did
(27:17):
Penn State's defense. I mean, make no mistake about it.
They were running that ball.
Speaker 4 (27:22):
Was it twenty two straight times?
Speaker 1 (27:24):
They were running that ball.
Speaker 4 (27:25):
Rushing category won the game.
Speaker 1 (27:28):
In the they were running that ball. Them boys was
running that ball the same exact I mean, they might
have had bigger runs against us, but they were pounding
them boys with that run. Man.
Speaker 2 (27:39):
The other thing that's crazy is Ohio State, when Trayvon
Henderson rushes for seventy five yards or more, are undefeated,
literally like they were. I think they were eighteen and
oh coming into the game.
Speaker 1 (27:50):
He was fifteen yards off from that's and that's the
reality is.
Speaker 2 (27:54):
You know, who knows how he was impacted by the
injury He en up olympic off the field at one point.
I think he got his ankle rolled up on. But
to your point, LeVar, Henderson Harrison are the two players
that are just they're they're when they're at their game
and they're healthy, at their best, they're better than anyone
else on nice and I think that's what's probably stood
(28:16):
out a little bit to me too about Ryan day
is in the past, we've seen him be able to
scheme some things up where he got a guy like
Marvin Harrison Junior open, or he put him in different
positions to allow him to avoid being taken away. And
it's just you go down to that final drive and
you're like, who was it? It was Marvin Harrison. Marvin
(28:37):
Like even even the interception, mccorm was going to the
right spot if he gets that ball off he threw.
He was throwing that at at the right time to
the right spot because Harrison was coming up on on
the deep dig. But he just got hit when he
threw in the ball kind of you know, flailed out
of there. It just you felt like when they needed
to they went to him and then and then instead
of doing it the entire game, they only did it
(28:57):
as a response to a Michigan score and it just
seemed really conservative. And so I can understand the frustration
from Ohio State fans. And obviously if you're Michigan, no,
Jim Harbaugh, Kyle Stallions hasn't been a part of it.
The you know, the universe organization team, whatever you want
to call it, And yet they still get a win,
(29:18):
and I just I kind of look at it as
like this is this season's almost vindication for Michigan if
they win the Big Ten this week, if they go
into the playoff and win a national championship.
Speaker 1 (29:28):
You did see that stephen A, which I know, but
I thought it was interesting, said that they shouldn't be
able to play in the in the playoffs. I don't
care about that.
Speaker 2 (29:40):
It hasn't I've said this before and people ask me,
are on there people have overblown this entire thing. They've
overblown the entire thing. There's other teams that have done
it in various ways, and I'll be honest with you,
I don't know how great of an impact it even
plays in game because very similar to TCU in the
(30:01):
semi final game last year, they knew Michigan was doing it.
They changed every single call, every signal, and that it
wasn't like Michigan's defense was stopping TCU. No, don't get
me wrong, it can't play to your advantage. But taking
stuff that they did in prior games and then applying
(30:22):
it in game like things don't change, but the teams
don't make adjustments. It's you have to be in game
able to do it. That's all legal. So I just
I think it's one of the more overblown things. And
I think it's because Michigan and Jim Harbaugh have been
pretty dominant that people are looking to point the finger.
I just like to me, if you're the NCAA, you're
gonna investigate Michigan, Go investigate every team in the country, Like,
(30:45):
go find more about every single team in the country
and see if other other schools aren't doing it into
what capacity.
Speaker 4 (30:49):
Between the game, the Iron Bowl, the Affle Cup, that
was a hell of a Saturday for college football. That
was fantastic. The finishing, the finished you know at Jordan
hare With I mean.
Speaker 2 (31:03):
That's maybe the most crazy play. Fourth and thirty one,
fourth and goal thirty one for the for the win,
to have a shot at STC and making the playoff
for Bamba. And by the way, it wasn't a pushoff.
They were both kind of back and forth with each
other like that was unbelievable. Throwing great catch by.
Speaker 4 (31:22):
Bomb, Yeah, it was awesome.
Speaker 9 (31:24):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (31:24):
And then to see Washington Washington State was oh my gosh.
Speaker 1 (31:27):
The Florida State game was I mean, there was just
a uk man you could tell teams want the other
teams to win.
Speaker 3 (31:35):
You know what?
Speaker 2 (31:35):
I love that I want even like low key robberies
like Virginia Virginia Tech the DC after Virginia Tech came
out in the field and they wanted to take a
photo like commemorating the win and the UVA landscape or
turn on the sprinklers.
Speaker 1 (31:51):
Field.
Speaker 2 (31:52):
Just little stuff like that. Dude makes college football so
much fun. It really does.

Sam.
Speaker 1 (33:01):
Yeah, I was, Sam. What happened?
Speaker 2 (33:04):
Alwa?
Speaker 5 (33:05):
Well, two things they were on each Saturday. I was gone,
so I went to my first Iowa home game since
twenty fifteen, which was a great time.
Speaker 1 (33:14):
Nice.
Speaker 5 (33:15):
The whole day was quite quite enjoyable, with lots of
eating and drinking.
Speaker 4 (33:20):
Now when you when I talked to you, you were
how many makers Marks deep? And how many beers?
Speaker 3 (33:26):
Like?
Speaker 4 (33:26):
What was it again?
Speaker 5 (33:27):
We had like three double shots of makers Mark and
probably like three beers. So we're talking. Yeah, I don't know,
like double digit drinks there probably Wow. Yeah I was.
Speaker 3 (33:37):
I was.
Speaker 5 (33:37):
But you know, when I talked to you, I went
back and listened to it. I thought I was holding
it together pretty well. I was just kind of bellowing
into the phone. But uh, yeah, I don't know, pretty.
Speaker 2 (33:46):
That's not bad. That's not bad. I had some buddies
come up for the game and on Friday. I've never
seen anything like that, even over a period of time.
I mean, I'm talking like three shots of vodka, thirty
six White claws, four bottles of wine between two people.
I mean, that's that is, that's something.
Speaker 1 (34:04):
Who are the two people?
Speaker 2 (34:06):
Oh, the meat wag, he wagon, the.
Speaker 1 (34:09):
Neck roll, I call him the neck roll.
Speaker 2 (34:12):
It was and by the way, that was like the
last I saw them. There could have been more. Actually
there's a few beers involved apparently when I was working.
I mean, you were talking about an absolute performance.
Speaker 1 (34:27):
I mean the performance in Columbus was what the pre
performance at least was impressive. The text messages of what
what you know, actions were taking place to get ready.
I think I was just thoroughly impressed.
Speaker 2 (34:41):
Shout out to Celsius though. I swear to God, those
things are like they keep you going, they keep they
Those guys woke up like nothing had happened to him.
Speaker 1 (34:48):
You know what's crazy. You know they don't let girls
volleyball players use them anymore. Really, yeah, they I don't know,
they just they said they can't use it. I don't know.
I mean, I'm no, but you know, it's like kind
of like I guess too much caffeine or too much something.
I don't know, but they can't use them too much energy.
Speaker 4 (35:07):
By the way, Sam, you you said a video were
you Was that a clove? But you had a cloth?
Speaker 5 (35:14):
Oh no, that will we can discuss that. Oh so,
So anyway, talking on Sunday that after the Iowa game,
in which Iowa won fifteen to thirteen, yep, in late fashion.
Speaker 2 (35:23):
It's dude, they they won in they still hit the
under again.
Speaker 5 (35:27):
Yes, it's uh, it's it's it's beyond comprehension this point.
But I did wake up feeling pretty rough on Sunday
after Illinois. You had a clove in your head? No,
and then so go, we're not going to address that part.
So that was let's go, let's go. When I flew back,
flew back, uh late last Saturday night.
Speaker 1 (35:47):
We don't want to revisit the cloth.
Speaker 5 (35:49):
It wasn't a clob. I'll just say that. Oh so, anyway,
so that I was following the went over Nebraska.
Speaker 1 (35:55):
Is that backwood? What a backwood? Backwood? Back wood? Backwood?
I don't know what that is.
Speaker 5 (36:02):
I wasn't tree bark. I don't know from where we're from.
Speaker 1 (36:05):
Was it a blunt? Was it a switch or suite?
Speaker 5 (36:11):
Can I just tell you guys this real quick. So
I was getting ready to leave the Phoenix Airport fly
out of Phoenix from my gate, and I left my
jacket at the gate and it had my wallet in there.
So lost my wallet and I'm very ocd about that.
I usually am very good about make sure I don't
lose my stuff, but I, yeah, filed a report with
the airline and I don't think they'll ever find it.
(36:33):
There's also eighty dollars in there, which I'm pretty upset about.
A couple of yeah, some memento. So that was that
hurt me because that was my own fault.
Speaker 4 (36:41):
So you left it waiting to get on the floor, right.
Speaker 5 (36:44):
So I got to my connecting flight. It was sort
of quick turn around there, like the connection. So I
get there, I kind of sit down for a second.
They already boarded my group, so I stood up and
I left my jacket there with my wallet and I
always put my wallet in my bag, so I was like,
what am I doing?
Speaker 1 (36:57):
So that's definitely I I'm sorry, doesn't it, and that's
for the clove.
Speaker 5 (37:02):
It wasn't a cloth.
Speaker 1 (37:03):
We'll just leave that.
Speaker 2 (37:04):
Was that before?
Speaker 1 (37:05):
Was that before or after you left your jacket at
the gate?
Speaker 5 (37:08):
That was Friday? So that was Friday, So maybe I
wasn't thinking clearly on Saturday and left my my wallet
behind him. I lost my wallet in Phoenix and you've
never heard anything back from what I got an email
from THEE and they're just like, sorry, we haven't found
what you reported, sorrow. Yeah, sorry, sorry.
Speaker 4 (37:27):
Does anybody ever get an item they lost at an
airport or.
Speaker 5 (37:31):
On a plane bag only if you leave it at
like TSA? Yeah, that was oh yeah, this is like
somebody probably just took it.
Speaker 1 (37:40):
Yeah, somebody got rolled up on it. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (37:42):
You weren't hostile or are you?
Speaker 2 (37:43):
Sam?
Speaker 5 (37:44):
No people there, So I just filed a report.
Speaker 1 (37:46):
I told you don't be hostile. When you was filing
that report though, why you was typing it out? They
was like, don't be hostile, sir.
Speaker 5 (37:52):
We were pulling away from the jet bridge and I'm like,
where's my coat? And I was like, oh no, it
was eighty feet away through the through the wall. No,
that sucks.
Speaker 1 (38:01):
Yeah, it was my fault. That's a really really horrible
I are I feel bad, like violated, you know type feel.
I'm gonna go take a walk and feel sorry for
Sam a little bit more. See if he's got an
extra clove on him.
Speaker 3 (38:22):
M
