So we are kicking this around. What the hell of
the Jacksonville Jaguars doing? They finally just to part ways
with Trent Balkey. This is ours after Liam Cohne says,

(01:05):
you know what, I'm just going to go back to
Tampa and go be the OC there. Who knows, maybe
this convinced him to want to come back and do
another interview with Jacksonville. But nonetheless, Jacksonville's out of GM.
They're trying to find a head coach. The Raiders, on
the other hand, have identified their next general manager. Jason
Spytech has been named the general manager of the Las

(01:27):
Vegas Raiders. Yeah, it is, and he was the assistant
GM in Tampa. Him and Tom Brady were teammates back
at Michigan, So there's a connection there.

Speaker 3 (01:39):
And so now now there's.

Speaker 5 (01:41):
The Michigan huh, I mean there's is there some irony there?

Speaker 3 (01:47):
Probably a little bit?

Speaker 4 (01:49):
Yeah, okay, So now there's the head coach portion of
it that they've got to figure out. Pete Carroll's name
was thrown out there as a leading candidate potentially. I
saw the forty nine ers have also considered Pete Carroll
as defensive coordinator.

Speaker 3 (02:06):
That could be something that'd be interesting.

Speaker 4 (02:08):
Yeah, I read that there. First they would prefer Robert
sala obviously for the familiarity, but now Robert salom I
ended up getting a head coaching job again based on
what's left with New Orleans and uh Jacksonmill.

Speaker 6 (02:25):
That would be coincidental too, if if he went and
coached at New Orleans.

Speaker 2 (02:29):
Right, shut us?

Speaker 3 (02:31):
Who Robert Sala? Why?

Speaker 4 (02:36):
I mean he could pain hisself gold all the gold?
Yeah yeah, he come out be on the sideline in
all gold.

Speaker 5 (02:42):
You know there you go Gold.

Speaker 6 (02:47):
I might pull up on the sideline in gold. I'm
telling you, man, I got my place, seet. I'm calling
something plays today. I got a third down, I got
a throw, might run on RPO.

Speaker 5 (03:05):
So I try to trick them?

Speaker 3 (03:09):
Can I throw out an idea for Raiders head coach?

Speaker 2 (03:12):
I love it so good.

Speaker 7 (03:14):
It's been provocative. I mean, look at it. Let's talk
about it.

Speaker 4 (03:17):
Let's hear it all right next Raiders coach? Oh, Steve Spagnolo,
not a bad call? That wouldn't be bad.

Speaker 6 (03:28):
How you doing throws?

Speaker 3 (03:33):
Why not the Raiders?

Speaker 5 (03:35):
I wouldn't do it. That wouldn't do.

Speaker 4 (03:38):
Who would know that division better? If you if you
don't have all.

Speaker 6 (03:43):
Got to have the horses to be like I can
know how war Emblem is going to run the race.
If I don't have a horse that can compete with
war Emblem, it doesn't matter who's training it or who's
who's riding. I don't care who the jockey is. I
don't care who the trader is. If I don't have
a war emblem horse, what does it matter?

Speaker 4 (04:02):
Yeah, but if you know how to get in the
stable and mess with warremblem a little.

Speaker 3 (04:05):
Bit, maybe that don't work.

Speaker 4 (04:06):
Cuddle though, do something that you hold yourself together until
you get a quarnerback.

Speaker 6 (04:11):
That division is getting better by the moment, getting better.
It ain't just one team you got to even worry
about it. It's like all of them, Like there's no relief, Like,
I don't know, man, if I'm Spaggs. If I'm Spags,
that ain't the one I'm hanging Cause you've already had.
You know, you've already had what two opportunities one and

(04:31):
a half opportunities as a head coach. You did in
a room and you did regular head coach. I believe
one one and one and a half a half like bro, Like,
I'm not. I'm not going to put my career on
the line unless they give me like an eight year,
ten year deal. Give me a long, long, long term,
fully guaranteed deal, and I'll come in and I'll coach

(04:52):
the Raiders. Otherwise, if you're giving me like a two
three year deal. You could forget about it. I'm not
taking no chances leaving what I got going on with
Patrick Mahomes and these referees loving Patten and us being
able to play defense for a head coaching job that
I have for one to two years, Like, no way,
it's fully guaranteed ten years, decade of guarantee money.

Speaker 5 (05:15):
I'll come.

Speaker 3 (05:17):
They should have never fired Antonio Pierce.

Speaker 5 (05:20):
They should have never done. That is the wrong decision
I've made.

Speaker 7 (05:22):
Well, you shouldn't have You should have hired him if
you're if you're going to hire.

Speaker 2 (05:26):
Him, that's what it did.

Speaker 6 (05:27):
Yeah, that's correct, and that might be the both statements
are correct. If you were going to hire them, you
shouldn't have fired him because the grounds of firing him
were not legit, like they were not legit, And and
if you were going to fire them, then you shouldn't
have hired him in the first place.

Speaker 5 (05:46):
They're both correct.

Speaker 6 (05:47):
So I just don't understand how you get rid of
a coach that you gave him absolutely no real possible
way to win, Like you get rid of the running back.
The run back goes and has a career year in
a different market, you get rid of the receiver, and
even though that didn't really work out where he went,

(06:08):
you still got rid of one of your main weapons
on the team, and you didn't have a guy to
throw the ball to the guy, so you were going
to have to have a running game. You didn't do.
You didn't replace Jacobs, Like what exactly were you hoping
for him to do in a division that improved with
the addition of bo Nicks and was already good as

(06:30):
hell with Mahomes And in the regular season they didn't
show it in the postseason, but in the regular season,
the you know, the Chargers showed that they were a
team that you're going to have to contend with in
the future as well. It just didn't seem to make
any real sense to say, we're going to fire the
head coach of the Raiders based upon this this metric

(06:52):
or this criteria, Like what was it? What are you
going to base it off of? Then you should be
pointing that finger right back at the person that's making
the decision, because you gave that man no real opportunity,
no real chance to have a success in one of
the toughest divisions that that we would say the best
quarterbacks and in all of the NFL.

Speaker 4 (07:13):
Mark Davis a little busy though. He's got you know,
dang got other things to worry, Like, he's got the
nicest luggage in Vegas.

Speaker 6 (07:22):
I'll tell you, Hey, Bruh, his luggage d be. I mean,
I seen him pull up to the fight. What fight
was that I went to see. It was Bud Crawford
versus Errol Spence and he pulled up to that red carpet.

Speaker 2 (07:35):
What kind of luggage were talking about?

Speaker 6 (07:37):
Br Bruh. I don't even know the name of that luggage.
It was like something overseas. Yeah, it was something like
it was probably like you who makes I wouldn't be
able to afford it, so I didn't even worry about
what the name of it was, you know what I mean.

Speaker 5 (07:54):
It was like that. It was like that good a
luggage too, and it just interesting. It just went over
every surface.

Speaker 2 (08:00):
We're talking about the same thing now, I mean.

Speaker 5 (08:03):
I don't know what you're talking about.

Speaker 6 (08:05):
I know what I'm talking I know what was thrown
in my face, Yeah, lasers When.

Speaker 5 (08:11):
You saw.

Speaker 2 (08:13):
I figured I was off again.

Speaker 4 (08:17):
By the way, when you were hanging out with Antonio Peers, Yeah,
was he surprised that he got fired?

Speaker 6 (08:25):
Yah, of course he was. Of course he was. And
I don't think I'm out of term. You know, I
don't like running what conversations I had behind closed doors,
but I'll say, I'll say confidently, of course he was.

Speaker 2 (08:36):
He was.

Speaker 6 (08:38):
He yes, he was caught off guard back and why
wouldn't you be. You know, he was competitive, The team
was competitive at times during the course of the year,
and he just felt as though there were some a
few fundamental things that they had discussed during the course
of the year. I mean, you got to keep in mind,
you're not going through an entire season and you're not
having conversation about what's going on with the state of

(09:00):
your team. So if you're having these conversations about what's
going on in what direction you need to be thinking
you need to go in and personnel wise, what you
need to be you know, really thinking about, especially when
the game plan that was given and I know this
factually the game plan that was given was to move
up in the draft and try to get one of

(09:22):
those quarterbacks that went one or two in the draft,
try to get jayde and Daniels, because it looked as
though it was a lock that Caleb was going to go.
Number one, work to try to get Jen Jayden, Jaydean Daniels,
work to get them.

Speaker 5 (09:37):
Don't don't lose your running back.

Speaker 6 (09:40):
Like, the things that were put in the plan were
things that you could seemingly say were solid, solid things
to bring to the table as a head coach, and
not one of them was done. In fact, there were
opposites that were being done. You were losing them, you
were losing players that you needed. So it's like, you

(10:02):
give a plan as a head coach, and I think
sometimes you got to take into consideration that to get
the results that you're looking for. It's funny you come
in and you have to give an interview that says,
here's your plan, here's what we want to do. Here's
who I would think about hiring Da Da Dasa on
and so forth. Here's who I would want as players,
Here's who I want to draft. You can give a

(10:23):
plan on what it is, your presentation on what you're
going to do and how you're going to do it,
and once you get hired, it doesn't happen that way,
and you got to take that into consideration. You as
a coach, you put together a plan, you pointed it out,
you gave the strategy, here's the approach that we would
have da da da da is and that Oh I
like that, let's hire them.

Speaker 5 (10:42):
Oh but we hired you based off of this plan.

Speaker 6 (10:44):
But we're not going to execute that plan the way
that you wrote it out for us to get the
job in the first place. But then you're judged and
you're measured off of what plan is executed and it's
not even your plan that's being executed. That wasn't Antonio
Pears's plan being executed and it wasn't his. Now, so
what who's the Who's who's taking the credit for all

(11:06):
of this?

Speaker 5 (11:07):
You know who's who's who's who's shouldering that.

Speaker 6 (11:10):
But it's a pretty interesting way of looking at it
because you could come in with an idea and a
plan and a strategy of what you're going to do
to have success as a coach and it doesn't play
out that way. But yet you still have to own
the results of things that come from the you know
what the results are.

Speaker 2 (11:26):
So there you go right.

Speaker 4 (11:27):
Right, and you got your one shot, and now the
book on him will be he'll get maybe another.

Speaker 3 (11:32):
Shot, and that's it.

Speaker 4 (11:33):
Based on the Raiders giving up on him.

Speaker 6 (11:37):
I think if you have any type of you don't
even have to be an insider to know that that
was a hit job for for whoever was going to
take that job. When you look at roster wise, what
they had, personnel wise, if you're not giving that that
coach more than one year to find a quarterback, a
legit quarterback and to replace some of the things that

(11:59):
you law to free agency or would eventually lose the
free agency, I mean, there's no coach that's going to
come in there and do well like.

Speaker 4 (12:06):
I was thinking, because it's kind of similar to what
happened with girod Mayo in New England, except it was
obvious that New England had a guy and a plan
and they've you know, gone on to execute that plan
and Mike Rabel's there and yeah, it's it's not.

Speaker 5 (12:22):
A quarterback, though you drafted a quarterback.

Speaker 3 (12:25):
Like with Antonio Pierce. It's almost like.

Speaker 5 (12:29):
From scratch, it's like what do you like?

Speaker 3 (12:31):
What do you what's the plan?

Speaker 5 (12:33):
Like?

Speaker 4 (12:33):
What was was it just Hey, we're going to get
rid of this guy and this guy and then we'll
figure it out afterwards, Like okay, well, how's that going?
You just hired a GM and again, much like the Jaguars,
all the top candidates are gone and the one that
you were reportedly a slam dunk to get didn't even
you know, wait an hour until after his season ended
over the weekend, and then went and signed a deal

(12:54):
with Chicago.

Speaker 3 (12:54):
Like I just I don't know what what the goal
is there?

Speaker 6 (12:58):
Doesn't that make Tom Brady now first, first and foremost
if we're being like really, if we're looking at it
from a critical at isn't just like gaff number one?

Speaker 3 (13:09):
Damn what.

Speaker 7 (13:13):
It's I don't know about it's gaff Because, as I've
said all along, tom Brady's interest in the Las Vegas
Raiders is every has everything to do with Tom Brady's
interest for owning a team, like the majority owner of
a team.

Speaker 2 (13:29):
That is, to me, the whole angle of all this.
I'm not even sure.

Speaker 7 (13:34):
I mean, the Raiders are always going to be a
valued franchise because of where they're at in Las Vegas,
their fan base, their story storied franchise.

Speaker 2 (13:43):
They're always going to be coveted for that.

Speaker 7 (13:46):
But I'm not even sure it matters how successful they
are now that he's in as a limited owner or
minority owner, so we can talk about, you know, what
this means for Tom Brady's legacy now off the football field.
But the truth is there's a long term play here

(14:09):
that I don't think is really even going into effect yet.
You know, Jason Spydeck is an old friend, someone who's
he's gonna be able to trust, kind of a confidant,
and I think what he's trying to do now is
not necessarily rebuild like what the New England Patriots were.
But if you recall when Bill Belichick needed to, you know,

(14:31):
find coaches to come in and coach offense, he brought
a Matt Patricia, He brought in Joe Judge, guys who
are good football coaches but had not been on that
side of the ball. And why was that Well, probably
because he trusts them the most. Probably because he was like,
we have a way of doing things. I don't have
to start over with someone else. I don't have to

(14:51):
bring someone who's now within the family and bring them
into this and try to teach them or or and trust.

Speaker 2 (14:58):
Them to run this thing.

Speaker 7 (15:01):
And I think there's elements of that probably with how
Tom Brady's going to handle things and build out this franchise.
So the unfortunate part is Antonio Pierce wasn't tom Brady's selection, right,
he gets involved with the team and he inherits it,
and it's unfortunate for Antonio Pierce because the timing of it.
He doesn't have a quarterback, the Ross's not where it
needs to be, and he gets one year.

Speaker 2 (15:23):
So it stinks all the way around for him. But
in regards to.

Speaker 7 (15:27):
How it reflects on Tom Brady, tom Brady has a
vision I think of owning this team as the majority
owner one day when Mark Davis is saying, I'm want
to cash out, and who better to cash out to
if I don't have any people to give it to,
like pass down to my family than Tom Brady, the
greatest quarterback, the greatest player of all time. So that's

(15:49):
what I think this is all about. But you know,
we can look at the short term and say, ah,
this is an indictment. I think it's a tough job
for any head coach, potential head coach to take, in
part because of the one and den with Pierce, but
also because of the division, and also because look at
the Ross and the situation they're in, Like it's a
tough team to think they can turn that around a win.

(16:09):
If you're looking now between the AFC South and the
AFC West and you're a head coaching candidate trying to
pick between the two, and you have Trevor Lawrence on
one spot and that division that's pretty winnable. Like, if
we're being honest with ourselves, we still give a lot
of credit to the Texans.

Speaker 2 (16:24):
They've got a really good team.

Speaker 5 (16:25):
C J.

Speaker 2 (16:26):
Stroud's great, Tamiko rans is great.

Speaker 7 (16:28):
That's a winnable division as compared to having go up
against the gauntlet of.

Speaker 2 (16:32):
The AFC West.

Speaker 7 (16:33):
So I just think it's it's gonna be a hard
decision for whatever head coach is coming in there because
he's gonna have to battle through some tough years.

Speaker 2 (16:42):
And hope that Mark Davis and Tom Brady understand.

Speaker 4 (16:46):
Yeah, well, we'll find out more from Albert Breer. Is
gonna stop buy and I give us the very latest
on what the hell happened in Jacksonville, what the plan
is moving forward, and also what the plan in Vegas
could be. A be always a Thursday tradition on the show.
He is Yours Next, hear from the TI Rack Dot
Com studios.

Speaker 8 (17:04):
Be sure to catch live editions of Two Pros and
a Cup of Joe with Brady Quinn, LeVar Arrington, and
Jonas Knox weekdays at six am Eastern, three am Pacific
on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 4 (17:18):
Two Pros and a Cup of Joe Fox Sports Radio,
LaVar Arrington, Brady Quinn, Jonas Knox with you here. Coming
up twenty minutes from now here from the tire rack
dot Com Studios, we are going to have another edition
of Lee's Leftovers.

Speaker 3 (17:29):
I already have a funny feeling.

Speaker 4 (17:30):
I know what's going to be heavy on, and it's
something that nobody on this show likes except for Lee.
So that'll be yours here again, twenty minutes from now
here on Fox Sports Radio right now, though we turn
it over to a Thursday tradition. He is the Great
Albert Breer, the star of Amazon's NFL on prime coverage,

(17:50):
Senior NFL reporter, lead content strategist at the MMQB, and
a man who on X Champion, Yeah, National Champion and
on X not afraid to throw out an F bomber too,
a B.

Speaker 3 (18:01):
What's happening? Good morning?

Speaker 9 (18:03):
It's a three time national champion.

Speaker 3 (18:05):
Actually, damn, oh wow, damn what.

Speaker 9 (18:12):
Hi Brady, how are you doing?

Speaker 5 (18:14):
What a? What a? What an interesting laugh that was?

Speaker 2 (18:17):
I mean, I'm doing well, Albert. I'm waiting for you
to make some sort of snarky response. Did you go
to the game?

Speaker 9 (18:24):
I was there? Yeah, I was there.

Speaker 2 (18:28):
Did you get so they won despite you?

Speaker 5 (18:30):
As what you're saying, you enjoy it?

Speaker 2 (18:33):
I mean right now.

Speaker 9 (18:34):
I mean i'd say I'd say like they're three to
o against Sutre Dame when I'm in attendance. So it
hasn't worked out against Michigan the last few times, but
it has against Utre Dame. And I want to know
on the road too, because I did. I did. I
did register a winning South Bend Damn.

Speaker 5 (18:52):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (18:52):
Are you okay with the fact that you won a
national title but didn't meet beat Michigan. That's like, I'm
not a tremendous large debate going on.

Speaker 9 (19:03):
The feel weird, you know? And I actually I actually
did prepare for this. I try to prepare for these things.
And I have like an Alabama fan friend of mine
who they went through this. Actually I don't know what
it was. I think it was either fifteen or seventeen
that they lost to Auburn at the end of the year,
didn't play in the SEC title game and wound up

(19:25):
winning the whole thing.

Speaker 2 (19:26):
Anyway, who had in the national championship that year?

Speaker 3 (19:29):
What's that who they beat in the national championship?

Speaker 9 (19:33):
That might have been the Georgia I have to look
it up. It might have been the Georgia year where
they beat where it was, you know, two came in
off the bench. I think that was it either way,
whatever it was, they it was either fifteen or seventeen
that they that they won after losing to Auburn at
the end.

Speaker 2 (19:47):
Of the year.

Speaker 9 (19:48):
And he said, uh, yeah, it was weird at first,
but you get over it. So I don't know, I
don't know if I'm quite like really confronted that in
my head. But but I I I'm sure I'll get
past it in time. Yeah, I will say, this.

Speaker 2 (20:05):
Will be there to remind you every single time.

Speaker 9 (20:09):
Well, I will see this. So like that Notre Dame
team is tough as hell. Like I I I did
not like Notre Dame growing up. You know, I was
never I never, I never liked Notre Dame.

Speaker 2 (20:21):
Marc A couldn't get in ahead.

Speaker 9 (20:23):
Yeah, well that's probably that maybe part of it. But
I like, I like Marcus Freeman has made that team
impossible for me to like. I I really like watching
that team. They they remind me so much of what
like Jim Trestle's Ohio State looked like. And I I
think Marcus would take that as a compliment because obviously,
you know, sort of his roots. But I mean they

(20:44):
hung in there, holy crap and tough as hell. And
Riley Leonard's a warrior. I don't know what he's gonna
be the next level, but I mean just tough as
nails and that great house is a really like that.
That kid's a baller. I mean they have the Kaiser
kid at the linebacker, like, they got a lot of
really good players. Say again, it's I have a hard
time like coming out of this next year, not like

(21:06):
kind of quietly rooting for Notre name when they're playing
anyone except Ohio State.

Speaker 2 (21:10):
Yeah, look, I think that's sir. I was going to
ask you about just in general, the run they went on.

Speaker 7 (21:17):
We kind of took issue with it, but people were like, oh,
it's the greatest run we've ever seen. It's like, dude,
you lost a couple of games this season, Like you
have to take that into account. And on top of that,
like the season that Burrow had at LSU, I keep
going back to because they beat seven teams who are
top ten ranked top ten at the time, which is

(21:37):
better than what we've watched Ohio State do this year
because they kind of had a soft schedule with the
exception of Oregon.

Speaker 2 (21:43):
I would I mean, maybe you count Indiana and.

Speaker 7 (21:45):
Then you get in the playoff, and yes it was
a tough run, but we watched literally LSU have to
do that to get to a playoff, who won the SEC,
who went undefeated and blew everyone out while doing it.

Speaker 9 (21:57):
I mean, I sort of hate that we have to
do this, you know what I mean in the immediate aftermath.
But I would say, like I think their approach to
the season was different, and you might know this like
from you know, having talked to Ryan and those guys,
but there was like a sort of pacing to the
season like they felt, like I know, the coaches at
Ohio State felt like they had to treat it a

(22:18):
little bit more like an NFL season because the prospect
of playing sixteen or seventeen games and so they've managed
the team a certain way, and I think it may
have cost them a little bit during the regular season,
and then you saw what they were capable of when
they really, you know, jammed their foot on the accelerator.
So I think the approach was a little bit different than,

(22:39):
you know, what, what it had to be five or
ten years ago in college football, where you had to
be all gas, no breaks the whole time or you
risk not making it in at all, you know. So
I think it's going to be interesting, you know, looking
at this run. It's hard to compare it against all
us you because what LSU did was ridiculous that year
and you look back at that team, and you know,

(22:59):
I all my kids, like both my boys are big
football fans now. They're like in awe when you tell
them that, Like Justin Jefferson, Jamar Chase, and Joe Burrow
we're on the same college team, you know what I mean, Like,
that's gonna be something we're gonna look back at and say, like,
holy crap, how did that happen? You know? So it's
hard to compare it with that. But I also think
it's like the interesting conversation to have going forward, like

(23:20):
how coaches, how how college programs manage manage the season
now that you know every week isn't do or dying
the regular season and it is a little bit more
like an NFL season in lengths, Like is this sort
of I don't know, I don't know. I don't want
to say blueprint, But is this like sort of like
gonna be the idea going forward where you have to

(23:41):
pace your team through this season so you can really
be all go when you get to December.

Speaker 3 (23:48):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (23:49):
Well, speaking of a speaking of a national champion, Trevor Lawrence,
he's looking around going what the ass?

Speaker 9 (23:57):
Uh?

Speaker 2 (23:58):
Yeah, what?

Speaker 3 (23:58):
What's what is happening in Jacksonville?

Speaker 9 (24:01):
Yeah? I mean, I think it's just a result of
guys of like having an owner who hadn't always been
fully engaged, and I you know, it's interesting because a
lot of times, you know, we get on and rightfully
sow the owners who meddle too much, and then there
are owners who I just feel like sometimes are completely
disengaged or aren't there all the time. And you either

(24:24):
get situations where you have infighting that isn't officiated because
there's nobody there to officiate it, or you have situations
like this where it's like they completely tune out with
obvious to everyone else, and they put their franchise in
a really difficult spot. And I sort of feel like
that's where shod Cons put the Jaguars now where I

(24:45):
don't think he wanted to do the coaching search by himself.
I think that's traditionally why he's had a lot of
half measures. If you look at his history, he's only
you know, gone through a clean sweep once and that
was almost right away after he bought the team. And so,
you know, at the cost of like you know, you know,
having a really attractive something really attractive top for candidates,

(25:06):
he kept Trent balky And you know, Trent Balkie's name
has been poisoned in the coaching ranks for a long
time now, and a lot of coaches looked at that
and said, that's a that's a non starter. I'm not
going there. And so, you know, it was an impediment towards,
you know, for for guys like Ben Johnson and Aaron
Glenn who.

Speaker 3 (25:25):
Are in demand.

Speaker 9 (25:26):
I think it made a non starter for someone like
Mike Rabel. And now you get to this point, like
two weeks in where it's all right, now we're going
to cut ties. It's like you already screwed yourself, you
know what I mean, Like you already you already put
yourself behind the eight ball, and now you're almost starting
all over again. Doesn't mean you can't get it right,

(25:46):
but now the job looks pretty attractive. The problem is,
you know, we're already so far down the road on
the coach and carousel that you know, you've really sort
of prevented yourself from looking at every possible outcome.

Speaker 6 (26:01):
So what's interesting about that is the I mean, I
think everybody thought that Antonio Pierce losing his job and
in Vegas was because of that very thing, is that
you had your guy, which seemingly was Ben Johnson, lined
up to come coach the Raiders. So how how should
we be looking at what's going on in Las Vegas?

Speaker 9 (26:23):
Yeah, so I think Brady's involvement is again a factor.
So if you you know, he was the one who
got Ben Johnson interview there, like Ben wasn't going to
take the interview, And then Brady made a couple of
phone calls and explained how things were going to be
different with the Raiders. That convinced then to go in there,
and I think I think Brady put something really compelling

(26:43):
in front of Ben, just as far as the different
investors he was going to have coming in. You know,
some of the big money guys that have brought into
the team, you know, Egan Durbin, the CEO of Silver
Like certainly one of them, about seven and a half
percent of the team. Tom Wagner's Tom Brady's business partner.
The idea was, there's gonna be more re sources here,
and we're really going to back new coach and we're
gonna be able to insulate you from some of the

(27:04):
things Mark Davis included that have been an impediment for
guys in that position before. So you know, obviously that
doesn't work out with then, and now Brady goes to
somebody he knows really well to be a general manager
in John spy Tech and Brady. You know, I'm sure
you guys know about Brady's like the Tuesday meetings he

(27:26):
would have with Belichick later Nick Cassario during the season
where they would sit down and break down the opponent
and go over how you know they were going to
game plan going forward that week. Well, John spy Tech
was a guy who ran that meeting for Brady and Tampa.
And so for three years, every Tuesday, Brady and spy
Tech were together, you know, working through that stuff. So

(27:47):
Brady knows exactly what he's getting and hiring John spy Tech.
And I think spy is one of the best. You
might have been together with him in Denver, Brady, you
might have crossed over with him, but I think he's
one of the He's one of the better young executives
in the game. And so you know, now I think
they reset. They say, Okay, now you know, John, you're
gonna help us, go find somebody. You're gonna help us,

(28:10):
go find some people to You're gonna help us, go
find some people to to build this thing out. And
you know, obviously the first thing I do is is
uh is go find the head coach. But just like
the the Ben thing and the way that evolved, Brady's
fingerprints were all over it. Brady's fingerprints are all over
the GM Hire two.

Speaker 7 (28:27):
I actually never cross paths. He left Cleveland, excuse me.
He got to Cleveland the year after I got traded,
and then he got to Denver the year after I
signed in kentas City so I never.

Speaker 9 (28:42):
Yeah, there you go.

Speaker 4 (28:44):
Interesting abe the Cowboys. Last week it was all about
Dion Sanders and uh his coach prime taking the gig,
And now we're hearing stuff about Brian Schottenheim or Kellen Moore.
What's your What do you think is the likelihood that
it's one of those two guys that gets it gets
the gig?

Speaker 9 (29:03):
Well, I mean I think it shows that they I
don't know, it just kind of feels that they didn't
have a plan. I don't know if it feels that
way for you guys, but I mean they obviously had
a year to prepare for this. They they they were
the ones that sent Mike McCarthy into a contract year
and they come out of it, and you know, I
think you look and you see like they're leaning back
up familiarity when every and you know, at every turn,

(29:24):
you know it's Steven Sanders, Kellen Moore's Brian Schottenheimer. I
think Jason Witten is just somebody to kind of keep
an eye on here too. I don't think he should
be the head coach, but like, could I see them
bringing Witten in as like an assistant under somebody who
Schottenheimer and coming to be the head coach the same
way they sort of did that with Jason Garrett in

(29:46):
two thousand and seven and bringing Jason Garrett in having
Waite Phillips kind of as the placeholder. I think that's
a possibility. It's it's a weird, it's a weird situation.
It's different in Stallus, you know what I mean.

Speaker 5 (29:59):
It's just.

Speaker 9 (30:01):
For one reason or another, just does not feel like
they were fully prepared to do a full on coaching search,
and just like Jacksonville feels like they're a little bit
behind and playing ketchup, and and their way of doing
it is seems to be to to lean back on
on Jerry's familiarity with certain people.

Speaker 6 (30:19):
M Uh.

Speaker 7 (30:21):
I guess if I had to ask you Jacksonville, Dallas,
Las Vegas, which gets filled first? And could you give
us some leading candidates for all three?

Speaker 9 (30:34):
Yeah? So I I would say the first one to
get filled. My I mean, it could be Dallas if
they decided to move fast on Shoddy. So I think
Schottenheimer Kellen would be the leading shout Scheinnheimer, Callimore be
the leading candidates in Dallas, in in in in Jacksonville,

(30:59):
I think Robert sala Is sort of the leader in
the clubhouse now that Liam Cohen has pulled his name out.
Would shock me if they circle back on Liam Cohen
now they fired Trent Balkey, and I do think Joe
Brady could wind up being a factor there. I think
that there's a possibility they bring him back next week.
And then you know, you know, my sense would be

(31:21):
with Vegas, you're gonna see a little bit of a resetting.

Speaker 5 (31:24):
Now.

Speaker 9 (31:24):
Brady does have respect for Pete Carroll and Steve Spagnola,
having competed against them, So I wouldn't completely real rule
those guys out. I think that's it's possible. It's it's
one of those guys. And then I think you're gonna
hear some different names with Spytech in there. I mean,
one name I'd sort of keep an eye on that
would be way off the radar right now with the Raiders,

(31:45):
could be Jesse mentor the defensive coordinator with the Chargers.
So yeah, and so he did a he did a
really good job with the Chargers this year. Obviously, they
had a great, great track record in his two years
at Michigan. Brady knows them, spy Tech knows him, like
I think I think Mentor would be just an interesting

(32:05):
name if you're looking for a dark horse to keep
an eye on. And then I think, like, you know,
beyond the two older guys I mentioned Stags and Carroll,
you probably look at a little bit of a longer list,
maybe with some offensive minded guys on it as well.

Speaker 4 (32:18):
Uh Abe quickly before I let you go, who what's
your pick for this weekend?

Speaker 3 (32:22):
Who's who we see him in the.

Speaker 9 (32:25):
I would say I think I picked. I spend about
like twenty five seconds every week making my picks. I
think I picked. I want to be consistent with what's
up on the website right now. I think it's Bill's Eagles.

Speaker 5 (32:36):
I think I picked.

Speaker 9 (32:37):
I think Buffalo. I don't know, man Like, I just
I feel like at some point they got to get
it done, you know, and this is almost turning into
a Brady Maning thing. I didn't realize like that they've
they've played each other in the playoffs already. I think
it's I think it's like this would be the fifth
time that they played each other in the playoffs, which
I couldn't believe this that's as many times as Brady
and Manning played, or maybe it's four and they're one

(32:58):
short of Brady Man. You guys will set up. So
I think I think Josh Allen and the Bills get
over the humps this weekend, and then and then the
Eagles Commander's game. I just you know, I picked the
Eagles because they're at home, and I don't know. I mean,
it's just like, I love the way that that the
Commanders are playing. I love where dan Quinn has that program.

(33:22):
I just I from a roster standpoint, it's hard for
me to see where they're going to stand up to
a really, really talented Eagles team. But I would say this, like,
if if the both quarterbacks have the ball in their
hand at the end of the game, I'd actually think
I might take Jaydan Daniels right now over Jalen Hurts.
So so if it's close play, like, I think that's

(33:44):
where things could go the other way. But I just
think the Eagles are too talented and I picked I
picked Philly to win.

Speaker 3 (33:50):
Get him on x AT.

Or no? No?

Speaker 11 (36:50):
No, man, I lift too much. I don't have a
strong enough squatter.

Speaker 5 (36:53):
But you don't have a strong enough squatter.

Speaker 11 (36:56):
Uh uh spotter, spotter?

Speaker 2 (36:59):
You really frowzled all, buddy, Lee.

Speaker 6 (37:02):
I'm just excited about the Oscars Lee. When you were
doing the benchresh, did you have a spotter?

Speaker 2 (37:07):
Lee?

Speaker 11 (37:08):
No, I did not.

Speaker 6 (37:09):
No lasers in your face, Lea, No, no, no spotter?

cardio yesterday today? Why dime I get the spotter? Who knows?

Speaker 5 (37:26):
No?

Speaker 6 (37:26):
I'm confused, Lee. So did you go into the workout
facility with a workout partner?

Speaker 5 (37:34):
Yes?

Speaker 6 (37:35):
Did you work out with your partner yes? At what
point in time did your lifts and your partners lift
kind of work.

Speaker 5 (37:43):
Together, didn't need a spotter.

Speaker 10 (37:45):
We did absh did some cardio.

Speaker 11 (37:49):
Uh yeah, yeah, today's leg day.

Speaker 6 (37:51):
Okay, So you did abs and you did cardio. So
what did the ab workout? Consist of a.

Speaker 11 (37:56):
Lot of medicine balls.

Speaker 6 (37:58):
Uh, team work, medicall leg lifts?

Speaker 5 (38:02):
Yeah?

Speaker 11 (38:02):
Sometimes?

Speaker 3 (38:03):
Yeah, team what medicine balivar?

Speaker 5 (38:05):
Team work makes a dream work? What I mean, what
were you thinking?

Speaker 6 (38:09):
Jonah? That's why I said team work with the medicine balls.

Speaker 11 (38:14):
Are you sore though yet?

Speaker 6 (38:15):
Lee?

Speaker 3 (38:15):
You don't seem so backs bang?

Speaker 11 (38:18):
Yeah, my back's hurting.

Speaker 5 (38:19):
I've been. I've been back real banged out. Huh.

Speaker 11 (38:22):
But your muscles don't hurt. Yeah, my legs do.

Speaker 10 (38:25):
I was doing leg press a few days ago, so yeah,
legs are hurting.

Speaker 6 (38:30):
But when you do press, everybody leg presses. You weren't
with this partner in particular when you did them.

Speaker 5 (38:36):
Uh.

Speaker 11 (38:37):
Well, no, I go my separate way sometimes do my
own thing. I don't always. I don't always need a
partner or a spotter.

Speaker 5 (38:44):
Oh okay, So when you lift today, will you have
a spotter? Uh?

Speaker 11 (38:50):
Yeah, you know, I've kind of been putting together a
game plan. Most of it doesn't need a spotter. Most
of it's just the machines, so I'd kind of be
rotating doing my uh, doing my sets.

Speaker 3 (38:58):
No spotter necessary, Supper or whatever you want to do.
Thank you, Jonas.

Speaker 5 (39:02):
Will you have us together when you go to the
gym today? No you will not, so now you are
just left to lift alone.

Speaker 10 (39:09):
You need Yeah, yes, I'm sorry, that's ridiculous.

Speaker 11 (39:14):
Don't even look at me.
