it out yet? Andy Furman, Fox Sports Radio Legend sent
(00:59):
over some mail to the studio for LeVar and I'm
not really sure what the point is.
Speaker 2 (01:05):
I mean, it's Penn State, Yeah, you know, it was
us versus notre dame. Maybe he's, you know, making fun
of me losing to controlling. What do you mean? No,
and he would do that?
Speaker 5 (01:18):
Maybe he just he's got a he's got a fetish.
He likes to mail things.
Speaker 1 (01:22):
I know he likes to mail things. But why would
he do that. That seems like he has a vendetta or.
Speaker 6 (01:31):
Someone in motive.
Speaker 4 (01:33):
You know, it's he always wants.
Speaker 5 (01:37):
He never misses an opportunity to send you a stamp,
and so when he sees anything penn State, he will
send it over to LeVar.
Speaker 4 (01:45):
Although he doesn't spell his name right.
Speaker 2 (01:47):
No, he does not l apostrophe V A R R.
I mean that does spell LeVar. I guess it's not
the way I I'm spelled, though. I mean, you know,
I'm very sensitive about my V as well. I am
a big V, not a little V. Very sensitive about it,
(02:10):
you know. And I'm not an E. I'm an A.
I'm two a's and a big V. Two capitals, two a's.
That's how you get it, you know, I'm talking about
Lamar jacked me up real bad. Ever since Lamar Jackson
won the Heisman, I get called Lamar at least once
or twice a day, and it generally doesn't bother me.
(02:31):
The only time it hurts me is when I'm like
talking to like an X pro, like an old head pro,
and they'd be like Lamar like and say it like
shoot it with confidence and pride, like talking we're talking,
dada Is like yeah, Lamar, like, man, it's really good
seeing you da da da, Like last time I seen you,
we was that you know such and such a And
(02:51):
I'm like, I don't have the heart to tell him
it's LeVar, so I just leave it at Lamar. They
just walked away calling me Lamar, And that's when it hurt. Though.
It does hurt that, yeah, but when general like people
are like, oh Lamar, like you know, I don't know,
but he's roomed with my life in that way because
my name it gets jacked up all the time. So
(03:12):
that sucks. Yeah, I'm sorry you're going through that. And
it makes me feel like I may do I look
like Lamar Jackson. I don't think I look like Lamar Jackson.
People say I look like Samuel L. Jackson, And then
they did that that mash up of people's faces and
they did it of Lamar Jackson and he looked just
like Samuel l. Jackson, So you think that they're mistaking
me as like a bigger version of Lamar, an out
(03:34):
of shape version of Lamar Jackson. I don't know.
Speaker 4 (03:38):
Why those two though that they think you look.
Speaker 2 (03:41):
Like you're always race baiting. What do you san? And
I'm just gonna keep calling it out because because I
have been accused on social as being the race bai
or the resident race batter on the show, and it's you.
What you wanted me to do is say because you
were black that I guess basically potentially, what you're insinuating
(04:02):
is that all black people look.
Speaker 5 (04:03):
For Well, it's it's a radio. Nobody knows that I
would say, Are there any other African Americans.
Speaker 2 (04:11):
That you made? Oh? Oh, African Americans it's sad look
like yes, I'm not going to say there is one
in particular, but I'm not going to say under the
fact that it could be incriminating to me. Oh no,
let's move on.
Speaker 5 (04:30):
Well, listen, we are moving on here now to some
more NFL conversation for you. Our buddy Pete Prisco. Right,
another friend of the show, Pete Prisco, came up with
a list top one hundred free agents. Now I'm sure,
this took a lot of time and he was able
to kind of.
Speaker 2 (04:47):
A lot of free agents.
Speaker 5 (04:48):
Yeah, put this whole thing together. But you can kind
of tell where he was going because I think the
question was asked to him, which off season storyline are
you most interested in? And he brought up Sam Sam
Donald is number one on his top one hundred free
agent list for Pete Prisco. So that being said, the
(05:09):
discussion now turns to Sam donald potential landing spots. There
are some odds out there. The Raiders are currently the
favorite to land Sam Donald. So that being said, We've
got Sam Donald on the market, We've got Aaron Rodgers
on the market. You've got Matt Stafford who might also
be on the market, as Albert Breer brought up last
(05:30):
week when we spoke to him in New Orleans. So
who's going to be the big get this offseason in
the NFL? Vegas makes a ton of sense for Sam Donald.
The Jets would be hilarious. That's another team that's on
the list of teams been there and that's why it's hilarious.
But it is the Jets, So it is a possibility.
But it does seem like the Raiders of the most momentum.
(05:52):
I feel like he's an empty calorie. Man, Well, what
explain that?
Speaker 2 (06:02):
Please? I just feel like Sam Donald is an empty calorie.
He's there and he's not fulfilling. No, like a cucumber,
not beyond this year.
Speaker 6 (06:12):
He's not nutritional.
Speaker 2 (06:13):
Ummm no, there's no nutritional value. He doesn't hurt your nutrition,
he just doesn't help it. Like ice.
Speaker 6 (06:21):
Where are the Giants of that list?
Speaker 4 (06:22):
Jonas Giants for of leaf fourth.
Speaker 1 (06:26):
I would think because of the history with the Jets,
that that's probably a no go, that the Giants actually
should be higher that list.
Speaker 2 (06:35):
I think him into New York market is why would
he subject himself to that? I mean, I guess the money,
but I don't know, man, I just don't think that
I would need more of a sample size of Sam Donald.
Speaker 5 (06:52):
Here are the here's the list, Raiders next as the Steelers,
Vikings or third than the Jets.
Speaker 2 (06:59):
The Giants and the Vikings should be number one. If
he's worth his weight, he should the Vikings should be
number one on that list. They should not want to
let him go. His most valued season has been with
the team he's currently with. I don't like both are
chances if you're a different franchise and you're gonna bring
(07:19):
him in, You're taking a chance. If you're the Vikings.
Can he have that season again? And if you let
him go, can McCarthy come in and have just as good,
if not a better year. You're taking a chance, and
he's coming off of an injury, So all parties are
(07:40):
taking a chance. I feel like the Vikings should be
the highest on that list and should be working the
hardest to keep Sam Donald and Sam Donald should be
working hard to keep the Vikings. Don't switch up if
you can possibly stay where you're at knowing that you
found the success that you found there. I just don't
think at this point in his career, why take an
(08:02):
unnecessary risk unless you can get a payday and if
that payday is good enough, then that's ultimately you know,
you got compensated for, you know, being a good quarterback
for a year, and you take that and you do
it at what you may. But I think in terms
of success on the field, I think if I think
(08:23):
it's a perfect perfect match for Minnesota and for Sam
Donald to look at each other and say, let's figure
out a way to make this work, I feel like
that is a red flag that Minnesota is a number
one on Prisco's list. Well, no this or or betting odds,
betting odds, my bad, not Prisco betting odds bets.
Speaker 4 (08:45):
Yeah, Pete loves him from Sam Donald.
Speaker 6 (08:47):
Okay, well he likes him.
Speaker 1 (08:49):
Now he'll eventually say he's gonna refer back to he is,
what he is and all that. He'll bash him at
some point as soon as he doesn't play well. But
the question of like where he ends up, it seems
like lost Vegas is the one that makes the most
sense because he hasn't been there.
Speaker 2 (09:03):
It's a new regime.
Speaker 1 (09:04):
He could act to be either their quarterback if it
works out, or a bridge quarterback. But given that Tom
Briddy's got a lot of influence in this, I do wonder,
you know how much he's looked at Sam Darnold, how
much he's watched his tape, how much he looks at
what he was with the Jets Carolina, you know, throughout
the course of his career, and then looks at him
now with Minnesota.
Speaker 6 (09:25):
And I'm sure he'll talk to Kevin O'Connell.
Speaker 1 (09:27):
You know, I'm sure at some point, you know, there'll
be a conversation there, they'll ask her talk about him,
because I think Minnesota, you don't make the draft pick
of JJ McCarthy unless you want to go in that direction.
Speaker 6 (09:39):
So it's a risk, there's no doubt.
Speaker 1 (09:41):
But they took a risk before the season anyway, right
they moved on from Cousins, they moved on from Daniel Hunter,
and instead that you got draft capital, and they use
that draft capital to find their replacements. So you know,
all those things have kind of led me to think
that I think Kevin O'Connell understands that they've got enough
p there. You know, they'll and by the way, don't
(10:02):
get some compensitory picks out of this anyway. You know,
when he signs a big deal like that'll end up
benefiting them in the third round at some point. So
I don't know that they're overly focused on Signinghi back
because I don't think they're going to be able to
make the offer that other teams are going to be
able to. So he'll probably be somewhere else. But it
seems like the most likely destination is really one of
the only destinations, and that's one of the reasons why
(10:24):
the dollar value might not be there, because he can't
create a market for himself, given that it's just one
year and a lot of people look at how it
finished with probably a sour taste in their mouth.
Speaker 2 (10:35):
And they brought in Daniel Jones too, right, Minnesota, Yeah
they did. Yeah, he's out of there. But I just,
you know, I think he's the most valuable. I think
that sometimes you can't get too cute. Don't get cute.
You won with Sam Darnold. You found magic and a bottle.
Speaker 5 (10:55):
I'll bet if he had his preference, it would be Minnesota.
I just don't think they're gonna they're gonna offer him
anything that's gonna come close to it.
Speaker 2 (11:04):
I feel well. I mean again, if the market is
pretty much I mean, we saw Cleveland basically bid against
themselves to get to Shaun Watson. I don't think Vegas
is going to do that with Sam Daral.
Speaker 4 (11:20):
He's a great guy, like that made sense.
Speaker 2 (11:22):
I don't know that. I don't know that the market
is going to yield this blockbustered number for Sam Donald.
I think there's gonna be I think the teams that
come for him will be skeptical buyers of Sam Darnald.
I don't think it's super overly confident and let's throw
(11:43):
money at this so we can bring in this guy
that is our franchise quarterback. I think that ship is
so it'sself for for Sam Donald. I really do. I'm
not making that purchase without tremendous skepticism and trepidation. And
those aren't the best Those aren't the best investments when
(12:03):
you feel that way. Now, I'm just speaking for me.
I don't want to speak for them. I don't know
what they're thinking, but I just think it's an empty calorie.
I really do. I think that's a hard sale for
me to go out there and go on the on
the left on the line and stake my reputation on
bringing Sam Darnold in. And I'm a new head coach.
Speaker 1 (12:23):
I love the fact that the PhD weight loss has
really impacted you so much where you're now talking about,
you know, empty calories.
Speaker 6 (12:31):
Yeah, I mean you've been educated on it now, right,
It's like it's changed your life in some way.
Speaker 2 (12:37):
At least I hadn't call them trans fat, you know
what I mean? Yeah, Okay, all right, let me ask
you. You know what I mean? Like, you don't want that
trans fat?
Speaker 7 (12:46):
Now?
Speaker 2 (12:47):
You don't want that.
Speaker 5 (12:48):
I'm gonna ask you if you guys are fans of uh,
ask you if you guys are fans of of these
other players involved in this discussion. All right, okay, are
you okay, are you guys fans of selling? We wouldn't
have a response for that one. I was tongue tied
on that Celery. Fan of celery, No.
Speaker 2 (13:08):
All right, I like celery, peanut butter. I tried it.
The only way I had a chance was with peanut butter,
and I still couldn't get through it.
Speaker 4 (13:17):
Celery on a salad, little cut up Celery, add some cru.
Speaker 2 (13:20):
I can do celery and soup, all right. Cucumber I
love cucumber, cut up though, pause, Nope, gotta cut it.
Speaker 6 (13:31):
Can't do it, won't do it.
Speaker 2 (13:32):
You gotta chop it on up and I and you
know what, I love it on my salads. Yeah, yeah, okay, Lettuce, yes, yeah,
I mean tomatoes, yes, sure.
Speaker 4 (13:42):
Broccoli with this cabbage love kalee.
Speaker 2 (13:47):
No cag like spinach.
Speaker 4 (13:50):
So when you can, when you say that zero, add
Sam Donald to them.
Speaker 2 (13:55):
Add Sam Donald to that group. I like them.
Speaker 5 (13:58):
But if you add some things round it, all of
a sudden, that soualad gets a little bit better.
Speaker 4 (14:03):
You're right, so he gets to vage.
Speaker 2 (14:08):
As a quarterback. You should be the steak or the meat.
You should be the protein that's going on that that
should be the calories that that go on to to
the salad. You know, not not all of those roles
that you just named. Those are all role players. It's
a role player. Even if you were to do a
bundless a bundless burger and you use lettuce, and you're like,
(14:32):
lettuce plays a very very important role because it replaced
the non healthy aspects of the bun, and everything has
to fit inside that lettuce and and it has a role,
but it is not the meat, not the protein. And
Sam darnold, if I'm getting him at the number that
that I'm thinking is going to get thrown out there.
(14:56):
You got to be the meat. You gotta be the
meat on the bun.
Speaker 5 (14:59):
Man.
Speaker 2 (14:59):
You can't. You can't. Can't be the sides. You just can't. Can't.
So there you go, just to mess around with the
way you set this up. You know, although I like
those things. I love frying me some some cabbage, love
it with some bacon in it. It's amazing. Put some
(15:19):
some uh what is that called called the sauce that
you put when you go hibachi? What's that called? You
know it's good too? What is it? The brown sauce?
Soy sauce, soy sauce. There you go, there's some soy
on it. A little bit too much sodium from No,
you gotta go non sodium though.
Speaker 4 (15:36):
All right, there you go, low sodium, low sodium.
Speaker 2 (15:39):
All right, No, no, non sodium.
Speaker 8 (15:41):
You can sauce is.
Speaker 2 (15:42):
Salt, so you can't do.
Speaker 4 (15:43):
No, no, you can do low sodium.
Speaker 2 (15:47):
That's that's the light blue top. Yes, okay, well there
you go. I used the light blue top, not the orange.
I had no doubt.
Speaker 5 (15:57):

A man we saw live in person last week in
New Orleans, the great Albert Breer, the star of Amazon's
(16:53):
NFL on Prime Coverage, NFL on Prime Insider, senior NFL reporter,
lead content strategists.
Speaker 2 (16:59):
At the MM.
Speaker 4 (17:00):
You can get him on x at.
Speaker 5 (17:01):
Albert Breer and a man who doubled down on social
media for his love for the city of New Orleans
is a Super Bowl host city.
Speaker 4 (17:08):
AB Good morning, how with you on morning?
Speaker 9 (17:10):
Sir?
Speaker 7 (17:10):
Oh, it's the best. I think you have it every year. Brady,
there it is. I would federally fund a stadium for
New Orleans so it can always be there.
Speaker 1 (17:22):
Well, there might actually already be some funds that are
diverted there based on a lot of things we're finding out.
Speaker 6 (17:27):
But Albert, you made.
Speaker 1 (17:30):
It out, Okay, nothing happened to you didn't get sick,
you didn't get stabbed or drugged or anything.
Speaker 7 (17:35):
No, no, no, no, okay, all.
Speaker 6 (17:38):
Those things were on the table after last week.
Speaker 7 (17:40):
So I'm alive and well, I'm alive and well, you
know I honestly, I mean, you like the Vegas Super Bowl, right, Brady?
Speaker 2 (17:48):
Yeah? I love Vegas.
Speaker 7 (17:49):
I mean, I just I don't know. I don't know
how somebody could look at and say those things about
New Orleans and Mike. Vegas doesn't make sense to me.
Speaker 1 (17:57):
But if you're trying to compare New Orleans in Vegas,
like I just, that's where you lose me. I don't
think anyone in their right mind think that those two
are things are even closer.
Speaker 2 (18:04):
I agree with Q on this one.
Speaker 7 (18:06):
AB, So you're you're a New Orleans hater too.
Speaker 2 (18:10):
I don't hate New Orleans. I don't. I don't have
that strong of an emotion and invested in it. But
I would I would dare not compare Vegas and New
Orleans though, I mean, oh, I.
Speaker 7 (18:21):
Mean I think as far as like seeds prime, like
that stuff exists in both cities, right.
Speaker 1 (18:27):
Vegas does a much better job of covering it up.
And also last year, I don't remember some of the
things that took place this past.
Speaker 6 (18:32):
Week happening in Las Vegas. At least we didn't hear
about them.
Speaker 7 (18:35):
Tang Vegas is a good way of covering things up, so.
Speaker 9 (18:38):
You know that.
Speaker 2 (18:39):
Yeah, and the air quality is a whole lot better,
seemingly if there ain't no you know, sandstorms going.
Speaker 5 (18:44):
On with those same the casinos are rough man with
a cigarette smoke.
Speaker 2 (18:48):
Ah, yeah, but they pump in a whole lot of oxygen. Man.
It just depends on the areas you are and in
the casino. But that, you know, it is what it is.
I want to ask you about what was your what
was your takeaways from from the Super Bowl? I mean,
going into it obviously, I think I recall you being
more pro you know, you can't go against Chiefs, Yeah,
(19:11):
stuff like that. What was your takeaway after watching the game, Well,
just that.
Speaker 7 (19:16):
The Eagles are supremely well built. You know I was wrong,
you know, I thought the gap. I know, I think
I said this to you guys last week. I did
think that the Eagles had the better roster. What I
was wrong about was the gap between the two. You know,
I thought it was relatively close as it turns out
it was not, you know. And I think there's some
(19:36):
good lessons for other teams in this, and there are
a few like football wise, Like I think the obvious
one is you built through the line of scrimmage, and
they're really strong at the line of scrimmage, both lines,
the Eagles are, and I think that's where this game
was won or lost, you know one and lost is
where the Chiefs simply couldn't block the Eagles and the
(19:57):
Chiefs couldn't get to Jail and Hurts, and that really
was ballgame. I also think like it's, you know, an
example of a team that pulls every single lever you know,
and they have a big ticket free agent, Saquon Barkley,
they have reclamation projects like Zach Bond and like Zach
Bond and uh and Mackay Becton. They have guys they
(20:18):
traded for like Darius Slay and A. J. Brown, and
then of course they've drafted exceptionally well, you know. So
I think it's an example of a team that has
just pulled just about every lever it possibly can to
build its roster and turned over every single rock, you know.
And I think that the the the underlying The underlying
(20:39):
thing about all of this is the owners fends and
there there there's been great investment into that team. And
you know, in a league where I think owners are
sometimes more competitive about profitability than they are about wins
and losses and about doing good business than they are
about winning championships, you know, I think Jeffrey Lewiss sent
(21:01):
a set of tone in that place where you know
the priority is winning period, end of story. And you know,
they've got one of the most built out personnel departments
in all sports. They have a ton of different resources
that they can pull on when it comes to player acquisition.
And then you just look at their coordinators. I mean
they spent I think it's over nine million dollars per
(21:22):
year on Kellen Moore and Vic Fangio, you know, and
I think both those guys did a great job this year.
So that's why when I looked at it and coming
out of it, Levars like this felt to me like
you know, we we a lot of times try to
assign credit right like where it's like is it the coach,
is it the quarterback? Is it the general manager? I
(21:42):
think in this case like this is just total and
complete organizational triumph, they won the Super Bowl.
Speaker 5 (21:49):
At every level, Albert, which team between Kansas City and
Philly looks the most different next year?
Speaker 7 (21:58):
I would say the Chiefs will probably look a little
bit more different. Like I just say that because of
what happened the last time this happened, when when they
got their brains beat in by the by the Buccaneers
four years ago, they came back having sort of reset
in a lot of different areas, you know, and and
primarily it was in the offensive line. If you guys remember,
(22:19):
they they they signed Joe Toney, they trade for Orlando Brown,
they draft Create Humphrey and Tray Smith. They had four
new offensive linemen in five out of five starting spots.
And so I don't know if they change will be
that drastic on the offensive line, but they've got some
big decisions to make with you know, Tray Smith being
(22:39):
a free agent. I think their tackle position should and
probably will look a lot different next year than than
it does right now, you know. And then I think,
you know, defensively, they've got some decisions to make as well.
You know, Nick Bolton's been kind of like the heartbeat
of their defense. They re signed him. You know, I
think and and then as Travis Kelcey coming back, you know,
(23:02):
I think that's an open question. As of like a
month ago. I you know, I talked to a few
people who thought that was it for him, you know,
and that that that he was done. And then he
came out during Super Bowl week and he said and
and and he said he planned to keep playing. So
I was like, okay, you know, and now it's sort
of flipped back around, so it's Kelsey back. Because if
Kelsey's not back, you know, now you're looking at a
(23:23):
guy who you know, is the focal point of the
offense for a lot of years and at the very
least was where Patrick Mahomes was going in big spots gone.
Now you know, you've got to replace that as well.
So I think the Chiefs will probably go through more
change than the Eagles. Well this offseason, Albert.
Speaker 1 (23:41):
One of the things I mentioned yesterday, I kind of
feel like maybe flew under the radar because there's allays
talk about how great the Eagles team is. The roster
you kind of talked about you thought it was closer
than it actually ended up being, and watching that game
as far as the difference between the Eagles and chiefs
is Howie Roseman, Like we kind of talked a lot
about you know, Hurts and Sirianny of thing else. But
(24:01):
does this kind of stake a claim for Roseman get
into the Pro Football Hall of Fame?
Speaker 7 (24:05):
I think, yeah, you have to consider it. I mean,
like when you look at like the teams he's built
and he's won with so many different coaches now, I mean,
he was part of the group with Andy Reid, you know,
and he became the general manager at the very end
of Andy Reid's time. I'm in Philly, so he was
there for for for read success and then you know
(24:26):
they they won ten games two years in their owl.
Chip Kelly, you won a Super Bowl with Doug Peterson
and now he's won a Super Bowl and been to
two with nixt Year Rianni. You know he has gone
to Super Bowls with with two different quarterbacks now. So
so yeah, And I think one of the things like
when you consider an executive, when you consider, like you know,
(24:47):
an executive for a spot in the Pro Fooball Hall
of Fame, one thing that you have to look at
his impact. And you know, I do think like you know,
when you look at the way that they do things.
They're so innovative and they've done things differently. You know.
It's funny looking back, like how you feel sensitive about
the idea that he's not a football guy, you know,
and that he's that he was more of like a
cap side guy, right like, and a lot of the
(25:08):
guys when they're young deal with this. But over the
years I think he's like sort of become this hybrid
of everything where you know, he understands every facet of
a football operation and understands what goes into it and
what he's really like a lead app You can have
all of this information, whether it's analytics, traditional scouting, all
(25:28):
the different things that go into its sports science, the tracking,
all that different stuff, but if you don't know how
to synthesize it and put it together, it's workless, you
know what I mean. Then you just have a mountain
of information. And you know, from the people I know
that have worked with him, when they say he's truly
a lead atist. Jeffrey loriid gives them all these resources
and builds out all these different departments and everything else,
(25:50):
and that's great, but you need somebody who's there to
synthesize all the information and boil it down and take
it and be able to use in a way where
you're able to effectively make this visions with it. And
that's what how he's a lead at And so, you know,
I think that if you want to talk about an
innovation with Hallie, it's being at the forefront of being
able to take all this new age stuff and marry
(26:11):
it with the old school stuff and turn it into
the sort of roster he put on the field on Sunday,
you know, so you know, certainly, you know, as a
multi time Super Bowl winner, now I think he's he's
going to merit consideration and and rightfully so, he's done
a great job there.
Speaker 5 (26:28):
Albert Breer, Amazon NFL on Prime Insider, Senior NFL Report
lead content strategist at the MMQB, joining us here on
Fox Sports Radio now as we transition over to the
off season. Most interesting off season storyline to watch for
you as what.
Speaker 7 (26:45):
I think, it's actually the Bengals. I mean, did you
guys have Joe Burrow on last week? Because it seemed
like everybody else did, I don't know, I.
Speaker 2 (26:53):
Mean, people weren't awake when we were going, So we
had on one of his employees.
Speaker 7 (27:01):
Was that okay, Okay, So I mean I would just
tell you, like, like I think, listening to Joe last week,
Joe knows what Joe's are really smart, and Joe knows
what he's doing, and Joe keeps saying the same thing
over and over and over again for a reason. You know,
(27:23):
I think like he wants to be a Bengal for life,
and he wants to be the person who turned that
place around. He wants them to win champion, win multiple
championships there, and winning championships is a singular focus. But
he also knows that.
Speaker 9 (27:38):
The perception of the franchise has been over the years.
He also knows that the perception of ownership there Mike
Brown and his family with Blackburns has been there. So
you know, like, I don't think like there was any
sort of accident handling the last four or five months
the way that he did, where he would subtenly drop
hints during the season and then and like last week
(28:00):
it was almost like he did a media blitz of
like here's what we need to do, and we need
to pay t Higgins, and we need to pay Jamar Chase,
and we need to pay Trey Hendrickson.
Speaker 7 (28:11):
How all of that plays out is really, I think
going to be fascinating. I think they're the most interesting
team this offseason. Does ownership open the checkbook and take
care of everybody? And if they don't, what does that
do to the relationship with the quarterback? I think to me,
they're the most interesting team because either this thing is
(28:32):
setting up for the Bengals to win for the next
half decade and compete for championships and for Joe to
be in the running for MVP, or it could go
in the other direction. If it goes in the other direction,
I mean, you guys, remember what happened with Carson Palmer
fifteen years ago. They can't let that happen again.
Speaker 2 (28:49):
I think that's an interesting take because looking at who
won the MVP this year, it wasn't based upon best stats, right.
If it was best stats, then it would have either
been Joe Burrow it would have been Lamar Jackson. Uh
it may It leads me to this question, listening to
what you're saying about Joe Burrow and and the Bengals,
has has Jalen Hurts done enough to be in the
(29:14):
conversation of rival to Patrick Mahomes and what does that
look like moving forward in terms of Okay, maybe Jalen
Hurts doesn't create the most gaudy stat lines in what
he does, but there is something to be said about winning,
I would assume, especially if he is considered to be
the catalyst of winning.
Speaker 7 (29:36):
Yeah, you know, I struggled with this one a little bit, LeVar.
So I do think, like there's this upper tier. I
think there are four guys in the upper tier, right, like,
and that's that that has been this way for maybe
a couple of years now, where it's Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen,
Joe Burrow, Lamar Lamar Jackson. I think those the four, right,
and I don't think many people would have argued with
that a couple of weeks ago. Jalen Hurts is a
(29:58):
winner though, you know, and I just it's hard for
me to discount anything he's done. I love his story,
and he wanted a high level in college too. I mean,
he played well in high leverage situations as a college player.
You know. Now we could talk about the championship game
against Georgia if you want, But I mean, for the
most part, like this is a guy who over the years,
(30:19):
going back to college. Has been at his best when
his best was needed. And you know, I think you
saw that again in the super Bowl. Where was he
as good as the Super Bowl two years ago? Maybe not,
but he was right there. He's got two really good
performances on that stage now And was he the MVP.
Maybe not, but he gave the team everything he needed.
(30:40):
You know, I know I would to argue that that
maybe Josh Schweite deserved. It hurts gets it fine, you know.
So it's it's sort of like you hate to do it,
but it's like, how do you divorce a player from
his team's success? And so I don't know if I
put him on that tier with the other four.
Speaker 2 (31:00):
You do, I don't think you do. Ab I certainly
do not put him in the top tier of quarterbacks,
but I put him in top tier of winning quarterbacks,
right right right.
Speaker 7 (31:11):
That's a hard thing, you know what I mean, Like,
I don't know, like it's really hard to divorce him
from the success the team's had. But like, like I
think we've seen with you those other four that those
other four are capable of carrying the team, you know,
And I don't know, I don't know that at the
end of the day that Jalen Hurts would be capable
of doing that. Now, again, what I would say is
(31:33):
when the chips are in the middle of the table
and you've got a good team, I wouldn't I implicitly trust,
you know, I implicitly trust Jalen Hurts to get it done.
And there's a lot to be said for that, because
we've seen quarterbacks who are great players. You can't say
that about the past, right But but but I don't
know that he's quite on the on the tier of
(31:54):
the other four. And I hate saying that three days after,
four days after he won a Super Bowl because it
sounds like you're discounting him or whatever, because he's a
He's a really good player who's great when he.
Speaker 1 (32:03):
Needs to be Albert last one for me and quickly
Sam Donald, where's the end up? Like, what's the most
likely landing spot for him coming out this offseason?
Speaker 7 (32:14):
So I think the Vikings would like to keep him,
But I don't know that they're going to be I
don't know they're going to pay what he'll he'll wind
up getting on the open market. My guests right now
is they don't they don't tag him. If you know,
maybe they put the transition tag on him, but they
let him go to the market and they say, okay,
like if you could like like go see what you're
(32:36):
worth and then we'd love to continue the conversation with you.
As for teams like on the outside, that I think,
you know would be interesting at least is suitors. Vegas
would be one, you know, I think Vegas, you know,
obviously has no opening there and Sam could at least
be a bridge for them. And then the other one
I just kind of keep an eye on will be
(32:57):
the Rams. If they wind up trading Matthew Staff, then
I could certainly see that being an answer to them.
He's from there and he played in the system that
was you know, very it's very much like the when
the Rams run post in Minnesota and San Francisco, so
you have some scheam familiarity there. And obviously there's a
(33:18):
tie between Kevin O'Connell and Sean mcsay where I think
a lot of the things about the program that darn
will be walking into in Los Angeles will be pretty
relatable for him.
Speaker 2 (33:27):
Yeah, level of focus is phenomenal. Albert, what's like that? Albert?
Speaker 7 (33:31):
What?
Speaker 4 (33:31):
What? What's your dog? So pissy about the matte, Patricia Higher.
Speaker 7 (33:36):
Oh no, no, no, gunners fired, enough about the mast
Patricia Higher. He's a big fan of that, and those
are happy barks.
Speaker 2 (33:43):
Jonah, Okay, we're happy for you.

Speaker 2 (36:51):
It's leaves all.
Speaker 4 (36:53):
Right to laugh?
Speaker 2 (36:54):
What have we got? So?
Speaker 10 (36:54):
Yeah, I was gonna actually be talking about this. I
canceled my last second Time's Day plans. We were gonna
go camping up in northern California. I thought maybe switch
it up to go to the desert camping. But uh, yeah,
I'm gonna cancel all that.
Speaker 8 (37:08):
It's too much rain.
Speaker 2 (37:09):
You're going to cancel it.
Speaker 8 (37:10):
Yeah, I'm just gonna cancel Valentine's Day for everybody.
Speaker 2 (37:12):
Were you planning on doing that camping because that like
literally would be your home for that moment in time.
So where do you go now to in theory camp
out even though you're not doing maybe a staycation in
La where's the staycation that's you know, that's one I'm
going to ask you guys for any advice.
Speaker 8 (37:32):
Carpenteria. Maybe take the train down to the beach.
Speaker 4 (37:34):
Take the train. It's a one day trip.
Speaker 2 (37:36):
You can camp out there.
Speaker 4 (37:38):
Yeah, they've got a camping ground in Carpenteria. It's legendary.
Speaker 5 (37:42):
But you can go to Carpenteria. It's it's a small
little beach town. They got good restaurants. You just need
to be there for a day and then you're back
home later that night, and then you can you and
Todd can go out and get smoked at the time night.
Speaker 8 (37:54):
Nice.
Speaker 2 (37:55):
Hey, Eric, so it's todt you're taking out for Valentine's Day.
Speaker 10 (37:58):
No, Todd now has a maid and squeeze, so you
know he's probably squeeze.
Speaker 2 (38:03):
So are y'all going to double date? Have y'all double
dated yet? No? Do you plan on double dating? Nope?
Has Todd met your significant.
Speaker 8 (38:11):
Other many times?
Speaker 2 (38:12):
How has that gone? What's their relationship? Like?
Speaker 8 (38:14):
They hate each other? Kens and dogs?
Speaker 2 (38:16):
Which one hates each other more? I couldn't tell you
which one. Do you believe if you had to get
rid of one you would get rid of I will
not answer this question.
Speaker 8 (38:25):
I would take the significant other, of course.
Speaker 6 (38:27):
Oh are you ever going to be able to end
up with this woman? If?
Speaker 4 (38:31):
Well, I guess if Todd's your best friend?
Speaker 6 (38:33):
Like, how does that work?
Speaker 2 (38:34):
You get rid of them, get your cheap wedding? You
just said exactly. You just said you get rid of Todd? Though, Yeah,
is she listening to the show right now? Is he
listening to the Todd? So you're only answering that question
that way because you think she could be possibly listening
to the show And we're one day removed from Valentine.
Speaker 8 (38:55):
No, I say it because I mean it.
Speaker 2 (38:57):
I don't believe that.
Speaker 6 (38:58):
Dang dude, I don't believe you're gonna kick your best
friend of.
Speaker 2 (39:01):
The curb let me ask you this, who's been there
for you in the most lowest moments that you've.
Speaker 8 (39:07):
Had, Tod, who has put you in the lowest, most lowest.
Speaker 2 (39:11):
Moments, Not today, the other one. I'm out of here, man,
that that got real right there. Y'all can have the
last two seconds. I don't know what to say after that, Honey,
camp I
