Speaker 1 (01:41):
On the Blowtorch AM five to seventy LA Sports, I
just want to catch you up on what was said
earlier in this show. And I'm not snitching on anybody.
I'm not trying to rat anybody out. LeVar Arrington basically
closed the casket on the LA Clipper season earlier in
the show.

Speaker 3 (01:58):
He just says that it's over. Said it's over.

Speaker 1 (02:01):
Uh, no hate, no hope, no faith whatsoever in the
l A Clippers following last night's dismantling courtesy of the
Dallas Mavericks.

Speaker 4 (02:09):
Why would there be any hope or any any of that?

Speaker 3 (02:14):
Why just done?

Speaker 4 (02:16):
It's done?

Speaker 5 (02:18):
Man, dead man walking, smell like smell like somebody that yeah.

Speaker 4 (02:31):
Up as bad boy and and they ain't got no
doc holiday or no wide her on on LA Clippers
right now seemingly so how fitting that we say something
that's comparable to a Western flick when it's the Dallas Mavericks.
That's that's you know, dogging.

Speaker 1 (02:48):
I mean, if if you are doubting whether or not
I'm making up any of what LeVar said earlier here
was stick City LeVar Arrington's thoughts on the l A
Clippers earlier in the show smells like some time. It's
just disrespectful that you would take that approach. Listen, this
is a fan base that's been through a lot.

Speaker 4 (03:06):
Okay, you know that was wide her brother Dave was
talking about. Yeah, that's just so disrespectful.

Speaker 3 (03:14):
God, I love Johnny Ringo.

Speaker 4 (03:19):
No chill.

Speaker 3 (03:24):
Yeah, well bye, I.

Speaker 1 (03:27):
Just want you to know it's over with smell that yeah,
pretty cold blooded. So that was If you are a
Clipper fan, you take it out on LeVar Arrington's where
And if you want to have anything to say to
LeVar Arrington you can find him on Twitter at lead to.

Speaker 3 (03:44):
Find him at lead. The lab is where he will
respond to all your.

Speaker 4 (03:48):
Tweets where vampires live coffin sales.

Speaker 3 (03:52):
Yeah at.

Speaker 1 (03:55):
Bloodsucker is where you can put but we transition and
smoothly from that over to this. Also, congratulations of the
Celtics they beat the Miami Heat, who I think fielded
a roster of Ronnie Cyclely and Bimbo Coles last night.
He's a DJ, Lee looked that up. I think Ronnie
Cyclely was is a DJ now if I'm.

Speaker 4 (04:17):
Not mistaken in Miami.

Speaker 3 (04:21):
God, he walked into the Clevelander and.

Speaker 4 (04:28):
It was Miami.

Speaker 3 (04:34):
Yeah, we'd like.

Speaker 1 (04:35):
Look, I'm almost positive Ronnie Cykelely was a DJ, Like
that's what he did post NBA career because I think
he didn't he play at Miami or no, he played
at Syracuse. I played at Syracuse. Then he ended up
with the Miami Heat and uh, Lee's got another let's
go live to where I've got an update on Ronnie
Cycle's DJ career inside or lead the live for the
latest lead.

Speaker 4 (04:55):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (04:55):
On top of uh being coming to DJ, was also
a very successful real estate agent. I'm trying to find
his DJ name though, but yes, he did go into
electronic music.

Speaker 3 (05:05):
As if you had to guess Rodney Cyclic's DJ name.
What would it be? DJ Harry Chest.

Speaker 4 (05:09):
I mean that man's amount of hair under his arm
on his chest, Yeah it was, But I mean, come on,
man like talk about mate for Miami though. He just
looked like he was made for Miami, like he could
lead the hoop court and throw on that that Don
Johnson fit or maybe Philip Michael Bailey Bailey fit and

(05:33):
he's Miami Vice that night, you know, I mean, like
all the.

Speaker 3 (05:36):
Way, you could probably dread the armpit hair on if
you want to.

Speaker 4 (05:41):
It's like Rapunzel. Yeah, I got that Rapunzel hair.

Speaker 3 (05:45):
He's got Ricky Williams in a headlock.

Speaker 6 (05:47):
Dang okay, sometimes referred to.

Speaker 4 (05:50):
As rolls down his legs, get hard the court, rolls
down that man bears.

Speaker 3 (06:02):
Those Barrygos veins. Ronny, Nope, not my hair.

Speaker 4 (06:05):
That's my hair. That's all. I was getting a little
long figured out corn roll it today, Lee.

Speaker 3 (06:10):
What do you got Ronnie Cycle's hairy legs.

Speaker 6 (06:14):
DJ names sometimes referred to as Ronnie style man.

Speaker 3 (06:19):
I love Roddy.

Speaker 4 (06:20):
They did them. Alan Iverson designed braids down his legs,
gave him a fade and a taper.

Speaker 3 (06:31):
Oh right around. Well listen, Ronnie, you're listening man.

Speaker 1 (06:42):
Congrats you know, hell a hell of a ron is
a member of the Heat and as a real estate
love Roddy Cyclic. So so we move on from Ronnie
cyclely over to Ryan poles Uh, the general manager of
the Chicago Bears. He was on the Pat McAfee show
starring AJ Hawk and he was asked whether or not

(07:04):
the Bears actually ever really considered moving off the number
one pick in the draft.

Speaker 3 (07:10):
Heres his response, I.

Speaker 7 (07:11):
Don't think I ever allowed it to get crazy because,
you know, we were gathering information on Quebe and I knew,
you know again from the tape it was a rare
prospect that had a lot of talent that could help
us turn this thing around. So it was going to
take a lot.

Speaker 8 (07:27):
So by the time we got to the point where
were felt comfortable, I wasn't even going to take those
calls anymore even you know, listen to what it was
going to be, because I knew this was the right
move for us.

Speaker 4 (07:40):
Kept a movement.

Speaker 1 (07:41):
So Ryan fouls on the Pat mcavee show starring AJ
Hawk talking about potentially moving off the pick, and look,
I said at the time. Once Carolina determined that they
were going to be the diaper fire of the league.
It was over New Year's Eve when they clinched the
worst record in the league, and the Bears had that
number one pick. Like all the discussion about well should

(08:03):
they keep justin fields and trade the pick, it was
never gonna happen. I never thought Ryan Poles with another
chance to draft his quarterback number one overall, because he
had the opportunity last year as well too. I don't
think he was going to let that opportunity pass. And
the fact that it was Kayleb Williams, who's the quote
unquote generational talent, this felt like it was always going
to be a foregone conclusion.

Speaker 4 (08:25):
How do you think it's going to play out? How
you think polls, how you think he did. Do you
think that that's just the see? To me, I feel
like it's the easy no brainer that you can get
out of the way of, yes, you know, if it
goes wrong, it wasn't you that made it go wrong.
It's the player that made it go wrong because we

(08:46):
did what everybody else did, which was take the information
and thought that you were a generational player.

Speaker 1 (08:53):
And here's the other part that doesn't get brought up
a lot that I'm always curious to see whether or
not we're going to look back on this, because who's
who's the Who's the best rookie quarterback from a year ago?

Speaker 3 (09:08):
C J Stroud?

Speaker 4 (09:09):
Right, Yep, it ain't just Carolina Young number one.

Speaker 3 (09:13):
Yeah, it ain't just Carolina that passed up on c J. Stroud.

Speaker 1 (09:16):
The Bears passed up on him too. Ryan Poles passed
up on him too, and so.

Speaker 4 (09:21):
Which is interesting, right, because you could have had c J.
Stroud even though you have justin field and that that
you did the same exact thing.

Speaker 3 (09:30):
A year later, the same exact thing, And so you.

Speaker 4 (09:32):
Think Caleb Williams will have a better rookie season than
c J.

Speaker 1 (09:35):
Stroud, Well, I think, and I think you know a
lot of people would look at that and go, well,
you know, it's just you're comparing Bryce Young to c J.

Speaker 3 (09:42):
Stroud.

Speaker 1 (09:43):
You're comparing Carolina to c J. Stroud, And to your point,
I don't look at it like that. If we want
to play the comp game, it's going to be really
hard to surpass what c J. Stroud did last year.
He completely changed the fortunes of a franchise. I mean
they went from massage Watts and not wanting anything to
do with him, and then you know, burning turning and

(10:03):
burning on head coaches too. They were bummed that they
didn't end up with the number one pick because of
Lovey Smith and Davis Mills and what happened in that
game against the Colts, and then c J. Stroud sort
of quote unquote fell in their lap at number two
and he ended up putting together maybe one of the
best rookie quarterback campaigns that we've ever seen in the NFL.

(10:25):
But it isn't just Carolina that passed up on him, dude.
Ryan Poles passed up on that too, Like he had
an opportunity sitting there at one to where if he
had evaluated c J. Stroud differently, then maybe he would
have chosen him, but he didn't.

Speaker 3 (10:39):
He passed him up.

Speaker 1 (10:40):
So I think everything as far as Ryan pulls, his
time in Chicago is going to be tied to Caleb Williams.

Speaker 3 (10:49):
Right or wrong.

Speaker 1 (10:50):
And like you said it earlier in the show, like, man,
you can't get injured, you can't like there's a lot
of things you can't let happen that are outside of
your control. And Caleb Williams like.

Speaker 4 (11:00):
Say it right, with a lot of things outside of
your control that you have to try to control, and
the number one is getting injured. You gotta control getting injured.
Can't do it the moment you start getting injured. That's
like you're on the clock. You're on the clock. You
are on the clock, especially if you get injured more
than once, especially if it's a serious injury. You're on

(11:23):
the clock. You could think that you're not if you
want to, you could have a different take on it,
if you want to. You're on the clock because you
have now become a liability like injuries that those are liabilities.
Like imagine, like you want me to put in a
proper perspective, imagine in other jobs you get injured, and

(11:44):
you get injured to the degree where and we said
this earlier in the show where you miss work, what
are you to that company?

Speaker 3 (11:51):
A liability now and replaceable? Well, and I just I
look at it and I go whatever.

Speaker 1 (12:00):
Never Ryan Poles, his tenure in Chicago is summed up
as or summarized as is all reliant on how Caleb
Williams does because you had, you know, look Justin Fields
had a level of success. I wasn't surprised. I never
thought they.

Speaker 3 (12:14):
Were going to move forward with Justin Fields.

Speaker 1 (12:16):
I just looked at it in totality and also in
a reality based point of view of in the NFL,
you want to draft your guy. He wasn't Ryan Poles's guy.
He wanted to be able to draft his guy. But
his guy could have been CJ. Stroud, who ended up
being the Rookie of the Year last year and completely
changed the course of a franchise.

Speaker 4 (12:35):
And I think the cautionary tale of what you're talking
about right now, Jonas, is that there was actually a
debate as to who should go number one in that draft,
Oh yes, and that debate being settled by Bryce Young
being taken. And you don't hear any type of buzz

(12:58):
surrounding Bryce sheet. No, you don't hear any type of
You don't see Bryce Young walking out with Amber Rose.
You don't see it, like you're not seeing what you're seeing,
which c J. Stroud is arguably already in the conversation
of being a face of the National Football League to date,

(13:21):
And y'all didn't take him number one. Y'all didn't take
him number one. So the cautionary tale. What's the cautionary
tail here? There's the chance that Jalen Jaydon Daniels, bow
knicks JJ McCarthy. There's the chance that you see one

(13:42):
of these guys emerge as being like a guy like
Tail he felled he was what number quarterback taking in
that draft? Oh that's the same draft? Who was that
that one? Number one?

Speaker 2 (13:57):
He was?

Speaker 4 (13:57):
Antre? Who was it? Like? That's the potential that exists here.
That happened in one season for Bryce Young one season
because of how well c J. Stroud did and how
he put the Texans back on the map of being

(14:18):
a competitor. Think about that, man.

Speaker 1 (14:20):
Yeah, and also I would say this, uh, as far
as the amber Rose conversation goes, yeah.

Speaker 3 (14:27):
Lee amber Rose year, Nay, we we get on that.
Yeah yeah, yeah sure.

Speaker 1 (14:35):
Very talented, very talented, right, just making sure it didn't
quite know whether or not you signed.

Speaker 3 (14:40):
Off on that.

Speaker 4 (14:41):
Here's the point. Here's the point. Is the Bears football
team going to be good enough for Caleb Williams to
beat the curve of which he's going to be judged on.
That's the biggest issue. Look, not Caleb Williams. The biggest

(15:01):
issue is always going to be will the franchise be
in position to make it a successful rookie year bid
for that player.

Speaker 1 (15:11):
I mean, we don't know where they're going to play
games in the foreseeable future or coming up in a
few years from now, because they still can't figure out
whether or not they want to put parking in the
renderings that they provided to the public, and now there's
some pushback on whether or not the stadium's actually going
to get done there, whatever the case may be, at
the very least, you know the Virginia McCaskey, the owner
is not throwing beer at anybody in a at a game,

(15:33):
like David Tepper was so God tuget to.

Speaker 4 (15:38):
Kim and stud of CJ get this beer, and I
love on head.

Speaker 1 (15:43):
I love Bryce Young, but I feel for Bryce Young
because he's probably looking around and I wonder if Frank
Reich and him stay in touch, and Frank Reich's like, yeah, listen, man,
I don't have to tell you like I'm just I'm
not you know, this is uh, this is on you.
You got to figure this out because you've got David
Ever to deal with.

Speaker 4 (16:01):
Like, how did you do this? You know, David Tepper
be walking around. Come in, you know, he comes in
the meeting rooms like Nino Brown when there was snitch.
You know what I mean that he started jump roping
his his his leash for his dog. Remember he released
his little rot Wilder to walk around the roof. Henna,
He's gonna stab the GM in the hand.

Speaker 3 (16:21):
I never like trance anyways, Oh man, so bad.

Speaker 4 (16:26):
I want to see j Stroud.

Speaker 1 (16:27):
We're talking about somebody's career like and you know what
sucks about it? If it heads down the way that
it's headed down. Bryce Young is going to be looked
at like a lot of those quarterbacks we talked about.

Speaker 4 (16:38):
They're gonna call him a bus.

Speaker 3 (16:39):
And it's probably not his fault.

Speaker 4 (16:42):
And that's that is the same scenario your boy is
facing against Chicago. So let me tell you this. I'm
gonna tell you straight out. If you see Caleb Williams
have an amazing season with the Chicago Bears, he is
more than what you thought he was. His legitness is

(17:07):
too legit to quit mc hammer style. It is way
more than what you could have even thought. Because this
beer stink geese, they stink decent defense got players, got
a couple players on defense Okay, you added some players
on offense. Everybody wants to talking. Oh, they added players

(17:27):
on offense, they stink. If that man changes the way
the Chicago Bears are looked at and viewed, and they
become competitive this year under him as the quarterback, he
is more. He is even more legit than what you
thought he was, even in a make it to the

(17:49):
playoffs but not go very far in the playoffs type
of run. If he takes this team to the playoffs
his rookie year, bow down and get that man.

Speaker 1 (18:00):
I'll say this, he's got a lot more to work
with and Bryce Young did last year. Because he's got
DJ Moore, he's got Keenan Allen, he's got Roma duns A,
he's got col Komett, he's got Gerald Everett, he's got
DeAndre swift Man.

Speaker 4 (18:14):
Look here, that ain't bad. But the reality of it
is is that I don't trust any of that. I
don't trust any of that. Like those names you're throwing out,
Like some of it it sounds pretty good. Some of
it is questionable, health concerns, rookie concerns. There's just there're
questionable deals. Questionable deals, well, I know, and DeAndre, like

(18:38):
this is Deandre's what third team in three years?

Speaker 3 (18:42):
Yeah, so he's in demand.

Speaker 4 (18:43):
What are you trying to say, Please, let's be clear here,
Like and I like DeAndre Swift, but let's be clear,
third team in three years? Freaking Keenan Allen can't stay healthy?
DJ Moore. They didn't even want him in the place
that Bryce Young went to, Like, like, let's just be
clear here, Like, let's not act like Caleb Williams is

(19:04):
like a dune's ay, like he's not gonna get judged
because he's a he's a draft pick and he has
great potential to be a great pro. But but he's
a rookie. He's a rookie, So it ain't like, don't
act like Caleb Williams is walking into this pristine now,
your boy JJ McCarthy is walking into a dope situation.

(19:27):
Your boy Kayleb Williams, He's still walking into a dumpster fire.
Can he does he got enough gas, enough enough extinguisher
fluid to put it out? That's the bigger question. That's
the bigger question.

Speaker 1 (19:41):

Book of Joe podcast on the iHeartRadio app, on Apple

Speaker 1 (20:42):
He is Albert Breer, and he is in He is
senior NFL reporter lead content strategist at the MMQB. Get
him on Twitter at Albert Breer ab what's happening?

Speaker 3 (20:50):
Good morning, Hi baby?

Speaker 11 (20:51):
What's up guys?

Speaker 3 (20:52):
How we doing good?

Speaker 1 (20:54):
So we've seen kind of the reports of you know,
teams like the Vikings and teams like the Giants who
were wanting to trade up to number three, and that
you know, Washington called Chicago about trying to get the
number one pick. So, if I'm just putting everything together here,
does that mean with all these quarterbacks that went in

(21:14):
the first round, that the Bears were really the only
team that got the guy they wanted.

Speaker 11 (21:20):
That's an interesting question.

Speaker 1 (21:24):
Yeah, yeah, because when you think about it like that,
it's like, well, how do we feel about it that way?

Speaker 10 (21:32):
I haven't thought about it that way, but I mean,
I mean, look like I would imagine if you gave
all of these guys truth serum, right, Like if you
gave Adam Peters and Washington and Elliott Wolf in New
England and Jerry Fouta in Atlanta, and you know, and

(21:52):
Cracy Delflamensa and Minnesota and and and George Peyton and Denver,
you gave him all truth here, I think they would
all tell you Caleb Williams is the number one quarterback
in the draft, And you know, I think when the
dust settled and we're all arguing over this stuff for
three months, and I think a lot of it's stupid
because you know, you wind up saying things that you

(22:13):
that make you look like an idiot, you know what
I mean, Like just Caleb was always the one, you know,
Caleb was always the one, And it's okay to say
that because this was not unlike the Andrew Luckier. This
is not unlike the Trevor Lawrence here. And there was
dumb stuff said those years too, Like no one thought
RG three was a better prospect than Andrew luck No

(22:33):
one thought Zach Wilson was a better prospect than Trevor Lawrence.
Deep down, you know, It's the same thing this year,
you know, so like only one team can get Caleb
Williams and that teems the Chicago Bears. And so I
think it's sort of a product of that that you
have that sort of prospect this year. But you know,
I'm I mean, I can tell you, I mean, I'm

(22:54):
just kind of like racking my brain right now. You know,
I don't think I think that the Commanders would have
taken Caleb one.

Speaker 7 (23:01):
I think the.

Speaker 10 (23:04):
You know, the Patriots would have taken Caleb or Jayden
Daniels over Drake May Atlanta, I would say Atlanta had
Penics three, So they had Panics behind Caleb and Jaden.
The Broncos had had bow Knicks three believe it or not,
behind Caleb and Jayden, and then the Vikings had JJ

(23:27):
four behind Caleb, Jayden and UH and Drake. So so yeah,
and then like you look at the Giants and the
Giants of the team that actually showed some restraint here, right,
Like the Giants they really liked Drake, right, so they
were willing to go up to get Drake. But you know,
they didn't force JJ at six. So you can look
at the Giants on the flip side of it and

(23:48):
say they were the one team that came in and said,
like it wasn't just we're going to take a quarterback,
it's you know, there are only certain guys we deemed value.
We deemed to have the value of that pick. So
all this stuff, you know, can kind of become a
moving target. Yeah, we'll see a couple of years from
now whether or not someone wound up drafting Christian Ponder
or EJ. Manuel in the first round.

Speaker 11 (24:08):
You know, we won't know that for a year or two.

Speaker 4 (24:11):
Maybe the free agency tracker is is active right now?
There are a ton I mean, it's a litter of
a big name free agents out there. How do you see,
you know, how you see that playing out? Like what
teams do you see you know, going after some of

(24:33):
these guys that may be out there, or how however
you're looking at it. But there's a ton of them
out there, Like I think what first name that comes
to mind is I think Gilmore Is is still out
there on the market. I mean, there are there are
some big name free agents. So how does that work
now after the draft? Did we did?

Speaker 3 (24:59):
I think a lot stalwarth there.

Speaker 4 (25:02):
I felt like that was like just such a like
a mic like I had to repeat it like two
or three times for the record.

Speaker 1 (25:10):
My question was the last question he responded to, which
I ought to tell you that was a home run.

Speaker 4 (25:16):
Okay, far that's fair too. I'll tell you, I tell
you what I mean.

Speaker 3 (25:22):
That was the silkiest question I've ever asked.

Speaker 4 (25:24):
Lamar you, Well, since we are feeling sometime, let's talk
a little bit about silk and how there's so many
great things about it, the flavors, the nutrition, the recipes.
One thing that doesn't get enough attention. It's got shelf
stable options, my guy, which means it stays fresh without
refrigeration until open. So go ahead, stock up on your

(25:44):
favorite flavors and learn more about silk products at silk
dot com. Damn, right there you go. Anyway, I mean
Mitchell Trubisky, Well, you think is he watched?

Speaker 10 (25:55):
No?

Speaker 1 (25:55):
I think Trubisky seems like the type of guy to
where he's such a good dude and so your good
teammate that and he's back in Buffalo. Correct, Yeah, like
he's you know he's gonna be but like you know,
a guy like Tannehill and and somebody else, like what
what I think is interesting is and not that you
would have direct knowledge of this at all?

Speaker 12 (26:16):
Message we got, Hey, hey, all right, we should have
left the message. For God's sakes, come on, why do
we hang out? We could have left him a message like, hey, Albert, what.

Speaker 3 (26:32):
What's going on here? Buddy?

Speaker 1 (26:34):
Well listen, now, you know we will we will effort
getting back in touch with Albert Breer here. Uh you know,
I mean we're up against it least, so we want
to try and get him after the break for the
the final segment.

Speaker 3 (26:45):
We'll do it. We'll do it after the break for
the final segment. Albert Breer that we will.

Speaker 1 (26:49):
Get him some time to uh to kind of get
all get all buttoned up and everything here. So yeah,
and now he's apparently not all.

Speaker 3 (26:57):
Right, here's what we're gonna do.

Speaker 1 (26:58):
All right, We're gonna break a little early here on
Two Pros and a Cup of Joe, and we're going
to go ahead and spin a wheel during the break,
all right, and then when we come back, we're gonna
we're gonna spin the wheel again, and we are going
to determine whether or not in the final segment of
this smooth running show, whether or not Albert Breer will

(27:21):
be joining us or we'll have another edition of You
In and You Out starring Lee to lap so you
can find out what the wheel of Lee and Albert

of lazy asses. Let's spin the wheel and find out
whether or not it'll be you Iner you out starring
Lee de lab or Albert Breer who will make it

(29:00):
special final segment appearance on the show. So let's go
ahead and spend that.

Speaker 10 (29:03):
Week and nice spin them damn.

Speaker 1 (29:09):
And it's Albert Breer, senior NFL reporter, lead content strategist
at the mm QB. He is back for more at
Albert Breer. Albut, I'm sorry Levar's question was so bad
that you had to hang up the phone like that.
I want to apologize on the half of LeVar for that.

Speaker 4 (29:25):
So you got guys like Kealais Campbell, you know, Dori
Jackson froml Adams. You know guys like that that are
still out there, Odell Beckham, Micah Hyde and listen, these
are names that maybe you'll say, are you know, kind
of maybe getting older or declining? You know, Tyler Boyd.

(29:47):
But did we lose them again?

Speaker 7 (29:50):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (29:53):
There he is, Albert. So, just in case you didn't
hear Lvar's question, uh, you know, free agents, But.

Speaker 3 (30:00):
What happens now?

Speaker 2 (30:02):
Yeah?

Speaker 10 (30:02):
Well, and again, like maybe we can find a way
to blame Brady for not even showing up today for real.

Speaker 3 (30:08):
That's easy.

Speaker 10 (30:09):
Yeah, that's an easy wanted to blame. You blame the
guy who isn't here. So let's just go with that.

Speaker 11 (30:14):
I you know, like a lot of teams are very
into the compensatory pick formula, and you know, at the
rules dictate that guys who are signed after the draft.

Speaker 10 (30:27):
Now it used to be in the middle of May.
I think it's like right after the draft. Now those
guys don't count towards the compict formula. So a lot
of times with these guys, especially the older guys who
have already been paid, teams will tell them sit tight,
and you know, we'll circle back with you May first,
because at that point we don't have to worry about

(30:50):
it affecting us in the compensatory pick formula, which affects
our draft picks next year. So I think that that's
sort of the way this has evolved is more our
teams have kind of drilled down on the compict formula,
and I know that's really in the weeds. You know,
we've almost seen like the second wave a veteran free
agency right before OTAs in May, and look like a

(31:12):
lot of the players don't care either. I mean that
just means they don't have to show up for the
off season program, and.

Speaker 11 (31:16):
So may anyway, you know, so you know, yeah, you
got you got your guys like.

Speaker 10 (31:21):
Your Odell Beckham's, your Quandre Diggs. I know you mentioned
a bunch of guys that are Michael Hyde, which one
of them. If you look at it, a lot of
the names now are guys who've already made their money
in the league and are out there probably looking for
a home with a contender, and the contenders had the
wherewithal to stay patient in these situations. And so I

(31:43):
think if you know you're Kansas City looking to fill
a hole, or your Buffalo looking to fill a hole,
or you're.

Speaker 11 (31:49):
Or your Cincinnati or San Francisco.

Speaker 10 (31:51):
Looking to fill a hole, you know now is the
time when you do it because the prices are down
a little bit. You guys who you know, you know
what you're getting with your third contract and it doesn't
affect you in the compic formula.

Speaker 1 (32:03):
Aberbriers joining us here on Fox Sports Radio. So it
came out, and there was a report that came out.
I believe Mark Maski of the Washington Post said that,
you know the expectation is that the NFL is going
to try and propose an eighteen game season before the
CBA comes up in twenty thirty one. So I don't
believe we're waiting until twenty thirty one to see an

(32:24):
eighteen game season. What do you think is a realistic
time to expect that we get to eighteen games?

Speaker 10 (32:30):
I mean, I think if it's up to the owners
as a FP right, because we know they.

Speaker 1 (32:39):
Don't want to wait for their money because Brady throughout
the we did it over under on that and what
was it two and a half LeVar, Like two and
a half years before we see an eighteen game season.

Speaker 10 (32:50):
I mean, I know this, guys. I know what Roger's
talking about today. He wanted like the owners wanted tomorrow.
And it was funny reading some of the phrasing on
that because it was like like, like the owners, the
owners are are are are on board with Rogers Rogers idea?

Speaker 11 (33:06):
Here is this the other way around? You know, Like
it's not like.

Speaker 10 (33:10):
Roger is dictating this. You know, obviously the owners have
wanted this for a long time, you know.

Speaker 12 (33:15):
And so.

Speaker 10 (33:17):
I if I'm the players, like I am drawing a
hard line here and I am saying I am not
agreeing to this unless you get us a free agency
after three years, because like if you look at it right, LeVar,
you can speak to this. It's it's hard physically to
make it to the through four years in the NFL

(33:38):
when you're first eligible to be an unrestricted free agent.
You know, it's really hard to be able to withstand
the ringers of the game and avoid injury and all
that different stuff. And so you know, going from sixteen
to eighteen games and you know whatever, it would be
a five or six year stand. Well, now you're asking
the players to survive into a half season because that's
an extra two games over four years, so it would

(34:02):
be eight more games, you know, not even accounting for
the fact year more more worn down at the end
of the year that you have to survive to make
it the free agency. So look, I'm never I'm never
taken off you know, taken off guard by the owner's greed.
Like that's what this is about. This is about money.

(34:22):
This is about Rogers mandate to make it to twenty
five billion dollars in annual revenues, you know, and he's
getting engine closer and closer there to getting there, and
it's that they've grown the game so many different ways
up that all this left is to grow it out
and that inventory. And this is like, you know, this
is like international, this is like Thursday night Football, this
is like the seventeenth game, this is like the expanded playoffs.

(34:45):
This is adding inventory. That's all it's doing. And that's
the way that they look at it. And yeah, I mean,
I certainly think if they're talking about it now and
they want to do it tomorrow and so as soon
as they can get it done, I'm sure that they
would want to do it. And if I'm the players,
I am drawing a very hard line here on getting
something back for it. And if if it were me,
if I were the players, I would try to get

(35:07):
you know, some adjustments to the way franchise tags work.
But at the very least I would try and and
and see if there was an easier way for more
players to make it the free agency. And I would
say the way to do that is knocking the requirement
down from four to three years on the guys to
become unrestricted free agents.

Speaker 4 (35:25):
I know we're up against it, but my last question
A B will be what who was your who was
your winner? Which which draft did you like the best
for for what team?

Speaker 10 (35:36):
I really like what the commanders did, you know, I mean, obviously,
like you know, how we all look at this in
a few years is going to be dictated by dictated
by what like what happens with with Jade Daniels, right,
But you know, to be able to.

Speaker 11 (35:51):
To go and get Mike Sainers Still, who I think
is gonna wind up being a really, really really good.

Speaker 10 (35:57):
Player in the second round, and and also come away
with Johnny Newton, who I think belonged in the first run.
Now he's got a foot frashure, so you might have
like a little bit of an issue his first year,
but after that, I think it'd be good. Benson Nott's
a really good player. You know, they had a lot
of Day two capital I think they capitalized on, and

(36:18):
I think they have at least four guys in that
class who are going to help them right away, you know.
And then I think you look down the line and
you see like a Luke McCaffrey at the end of
the third round. So I really like their class. The
other class, if you want to talk about teams a
little further down the line, that I like with Buffalo.
You know, I think you know, like if you if
if you look at where they're at and they had

(36:38):
to reset their roster. They've got a lot of holes now.
And they've got some, you know, obviously big pieces that
they're gonna build around and Josh Allen and Deon Dawkins
and and At Oliver, but they've got a lot of
areas that they needed to address. And so I think
going and getting guys who can contribute from day one,
like Keon Coleman, like like cold bishup the safety out

(37:01):
of you ta it also address needs that's up. Buffalo
did really well and I think they've got a number
of guys who I think are going to contribute to
them as rookie.

Speaker 1 (37:10):
Get them on Twitter ex at Albert Breer AB. We
appreciate it. We'll do it again next week.

Speaker 10 (37:14):
Enjoy the weekend, all right, thanks guys, have a good weekend.

Speaker 3 (37:17):
There he is. It is Albert Breer.

Speaker 1 (37:20):
Where you can find him again at Albert Breer, Senior
NFL reporter, lead content strategist at the MMQB, joining us
for a very special final segment appearance here on the
show on Fox Sports Radio. Like listen, normally we do
you interview out, but Albert Breer was in today, so
call it him whatever we want.

Speaker 4 (37:37):
So everything else was out. Yeah, you can big names in,
so everything else was out.

Speaker 1 (37:44):
I mean, listen, you know when you start out a
show talking about the Lost Boys and you end up
with Albert Breer talking about the way we can get
to an eighteen game season, which it's going to happen,
and it's going to happen real soon.

Speaker 3 (37:58):
Could you imagine like the extra two games on your
body like back when you were playing.

Speaker 4 (38:04):
I can't. I can't imagine it. I mean, but I
never played in the playoffs, so what do you mean?
I mean, it just never was really a part of
my career at one time.

Speaker 3 (38:16):
You tried to kill Chris Sims. What are you talking about?

Speaker 4 (38:18):
I got one end, bro, it's seven years of playing football.
I got one year in.

Speaker 3 (38:23):
So I just you know you didn't have did you
pick six in that game? In that playoff game?

Speaker 4 (38:28):
It was close. I got knocked out and fumbled the ball,
but they didn't call it a fumble, So but you
the ball I did fumble.

Speaker 3 (38:36):
That's all right.

Speaker 4 (38:37):
They got it too. We still got it.

Speaker 3 (38:40):
You can get that work tomorrow.

Speaker 4 (38:41):
Until you get it tomorrow,
