is Friday. Rejoice unless you happen to be a Giants fan,

(00:44):
because everything that could go wrong last night for your
football team has gone wrong. And the same could be
said for the first six games of the NFL season.
The Giants fell to one in five, the Eagles get
to three and three, and while the Eagles story continues
into the future and they look to be in decent

(01:06):
shape to win the NFC East or at least contend
for the NFC East for the entire year with a
thirty four to thirteen win, the story last night is
all about the Giants, and really, the Giants got beaten
so bad and so many interesting things happened during that
game that we really have to play team psychologists to

(01:28):
even figure out where the Giants are as a franchise
right now. So there were several things that I thought
became top of mind last night as the Giants played
the Eagles and fell to one in five and fell
apart as a franchise. As a season, everything if you
are a Giants fan came falling down around you. Let's

(01:52):
start with the positive. Sae Kwan Barkley is the best
player on the Guiance team offense or defense. Last night
he was a revelation. He was their leading receiver and
he was there leading rusher. He is everything you could
have hoped and more when they drafted him with the

(02:16):
number two overall. Pick a couple of stats for you.
See Kwan Barkley carried the ball only thirteen times, but
he got a hundred and thirty yards on those thirteen
carries average ten yards per carry, got a touchdown. He
caught the ball nine times for ninety nine yards UH,

(02:36):
including an average of eleven yards per catch total UH
longest catch of fifty five yards. One of those, the
fifty five yard catch and run, was a thing of beauty.
He looked like Reggie Bush back at USC running around
on the field there. I think that whatever you do,

(02:58):
you build your offense around se Kwan Barkley going forward. Yes,
that means to me. I told you when he signed
his deal. When O'Dell Beckham Jr. Signed his deal, I said,
I didn't agree with the Giants giving Beckham Jr. Twenty
million dollars a year. You can go back and you

(03:20):
can check the tape. Everybody tends to In fact, this
is what I said then months ago when this deal happened.
I said, you know what, everybody tends to praise a
major deal when it gets done, as if there was
no other, uh other way you could have handled it.
When he signed that five year deal for a hundred

(03:41):
million dollars, I said, money makes you more of what
you already are. And Odell Beckham Jr. Had already been
a prima donna who threw his quarterbacks under the bus,
that you could not trust now that you had given
massive money. And what happens last night with one second

(04:03):
left in the half, when your team is trying to
run a couple of of interesting plays, and a couple
of interesting plays, the wrong thing but try to run
one play. He wasn't out there to go on the field.
And you can say, like they did after the game,
Oh he had to go get an ivy. Really, he
had to get an ivy with one second left, that

(04:26):
extra one minute that he had that he saved by
walking off the field. If you go back and you
watch that tape, Eli goes into the huddle, then breaks
the huddle and looks to the sideline when he realizes
that Beckham Jr. Is Not on the field. He realizes,
wait a minute, we're going into battle here without our

(04:47):
best star. And do you know what they had to
do much like a child who's throwing a fit when
they came out of the out of the halftime. The
first past they had was set up for Odell Beckham
June year. Odell Beckham Jr. This year is going to
make twenty one point nearly five million dollars, and the

(05:10):
dead cap hit that the Giants are taking this year alone,
according to spot Sport spot Rack, which is pretty good
usually with contracts, is nearly forty one million dollars. Next year,
the Giants are taking a cap hit of nearly thirty
six million dollars and Odell Beckham is on track to

(05:34):
make thirty eight and a half a million dollars. The
year after that, he is on track to make nineteen
point to five million dollars. So they've got him locked
in in three years for twenty million dollars a year
each of those three years. And Guys, when I look

(05:54):
at what they decided to do, I think the simply
the solution here at everybody's gonna focus on Eli. Everybody's
gonna say, oh, you have to do something with Eli.
And I'm gonna get to Eli in a minute. But
if I were running the Giants right now, if I
was their new head coach Shermer, if I were a
part of the management team, I would say, Odell Beckham Jr.

(06:16):
Let's see if we can put him on the trade
block and get him, get away, get done with him.
I mean that honestly. I don't think anyone is going
to take him because the contract is so massive. But
if there are teams out there right now with substantial
salary cap money that fancy themselves to be Super Bowl
contending teams and are just a player short at wide receiver,

(06:39):
I would put Odell Beckham Jr. On the market. And
I wouldn't even be trying to get that much for
him at this point, I would be just trying to
get out of this disastrous contract that we have signed.
Money makes you more of what you already are. O'Dell
Beckham Jr. Is not the best player on this offense anymore.
It's Sae Kwon Barkley. If you saw him on the

(07:00):
sideline losing his mind talking to the air conditioner or
whatever he was doing, if you saw him leaving the field,
if you've seen the ridiculous quotes lately that he claims
brought the team together, O'Dell Beckham Jr. Is not someone
that I want to build my team around. When it
seems clear that we are finished with Eli Manning, and

(07:22):
I think that's the final piece of the puzzle here.
You are going to either have to trade Eli Manning
or release him. I believe at the end of this year,
is there a team out there that feels like, you
know what, if we had Eli, maybe we'd be better
in our pursuit of a championship. I'm not sure if
the answer is yes. For a while, in my head,

(07:43):
I thought, you know what, Jacksonville with Blake Bortles would
they be better if they brought in Eli and just
told Eli, hey, don't blow everything up. Let's just have
a very settled quarterback who we know has won a
couple of Super Bowls and been excellent in the postseason,
come in and take charge of this franchise. For a while,

(08:04):
I thought that, I'm not sure there's much interest in Eli,
And unfortunately for the Giants, I'm not sure they have
anybody that's a future for the franchise. So I don't
even know what the benefit is of benching Eli at
this point, like they tried to do last year. I
think he lies done. And the challenge then with Odell

(08:25):
Beckham Jr. Is who is going to be the focal
point of everything from a media perspective when you bring
in a brand new rookie quarterback. It's Odell Beckham Jr.
And he has gone full t o. Remember back in
the day, there was no doubt that uh that there
was zeroed out if you looked at what happened when

(08:48):
Torrell Owens. He fell apart as a wide receiver, and
as talented as he was, it didn't matter because he
was all about himself. And I think that's where Odell
Beckham Junior is gonna be the differences. I don't want
Odell Beckham Jr. With my rookie quarterback. At least, by

(09:09):
and large, t O had issues with Jeff Garcia and
Donovan McNabb, and eventually he seemed to get in line
for Romo when he had a better quarterback. But that
was on the tail end of his career that he
finally went to the Dallas Cowboys and had a legitimately
talented quarterback to play for. But in the meantime he

(09:29):
was a mess when it came to everything surrounding Jeff
Garcia and everything surrounding Donovan McNabb. The t O Show
was and remains, frankly, a messy situation. That's what we've
entered with O'Dell Beckham Jr. Leaving the field early and
with him I think a part of his acting out,

(09:49):
I tweeted this last night. I think a part of
Odell Beckham Junior is acting out is this year he's
aware that se Kwan Barkley is the more talented and
more important offensive player for the Giants. Did you notice
how se Kwan Barkley went up two Odell Beckham Jr.
And tried to calm him down on the sideline during

(10:12):
his collapse, during his fall apart explosive moment on the sideline.
I just think in general, the Giants are frustrated. I'm
fielding every call I can right now if I am
Giants management, to see whether or not anyone is interested
in giving me anything to take Odell Beckham Jr. Off

(10:34):
my hands. I want to build the future of this
franchise around se Kwan Barkley. It's good for a rookie
quarterback to have a really talented running back. I want
to look to the Dallas Cowboys and say, okay, here's
what they did with Ezekiel Elliott. I want to look
to the Jacksonville Jaguars and say, okay, here's what they
did with Leonard four Net. I want to take uh

(10:57):
an example of everything that that says have done with
Alvin Kamara and all of these young dominant running backs,
and over the next four or five years, maybe six
or seven years, hopefully say Kwan Barkley is gonna get
better and better and be absolutely dominant both as a
running back and as a receiver out of the backfield.

(11:19):
And I want to build around him as opposed to
doing anything with Eli or anything with Odell Beckham Jr.
And already I think things are only going to get
worse when you bring in a rookie quarterback, because everybody
out there listening to me right now knows what it's
like when you bring in a rookie quarterback. He's not
going to be consistent. He's gonna have some good games

(11:42):
and some bad games. Do you want that rookie quarterback
having to put up with Odell Beckham Jr. And his antics?
Do you want to try and justify his leaving the
field early? Do you want to try to worry about
what he's gonna do on the sideline on a night
in a night out basis when you're trying to groom

(12:02):
the future quarterback of your franchise. Odell Beckham Jr. No
longer fits this team. And if I am the Giants
starting this morning, I am putting out notice to anybody
that would be interested in it. What will you give
me to take Odell Beckham Jr. Off my hands? This
is not a playoff team for the next couple of years.

(12:24):
You have locked up twenty million dollars a year for
Odell Beckham Jr. And he is not your best offensive player,
se Kwan Barkley is. You build this team around sat
Kwan Barkley. He's stable, he's reliable, he looks to be
a future superstar. And you go out and you draft
a new quarterback at the start of this season because

(12:46):
this season, at the start of the of next season
and next year's draft, because this year's team is done.
Maybe a little bit aggressive. Some of you out there
may disagree, but that is the solution that I saw.
We'll talk about this a little bit. What kind of
trade value would O'Dell Beckham Jr. Have? I will bounce

(13:09):
it off the guys. We will also talk with my
guy Lance Taylor, will see whether or not he agrees
with me on that decision. Is it too aggressive to
think about trading Odell Beckham Jr. I'll tell you this,
I can't get past if I am the owner of
the team, if I'm the GM, if I'm the coach,
him walking off the field at halftime with one second left,

(13:33):
I just can't. I was watching this game with my
kids and my eight year old said, Dad, why would
O'Dell Beckham Jr. Do that? Why would he leave when
his offense has the ball and his team has a
chance to do something. I mean, there's there at the
forty two yard line or whatever the heck they are
after the Eagles miss. If my eight year old is
sitting there, who's playing flag football, thinking, there's no way

(13:57):
I would leave the field with my team having a
chance to score in any way possible, with one second
left on the field left on the clock. Why in
the world would you allow your twenty million dollar a
year wide receiver to do it. I'm not putting up
with the antics anymore. I think the Giants made mastake

(14:19):
giving him the contract to begin with. It's not Monday
morning quarterbacking. It's not hindsight. I said that when they
signed the deal, I would trade O'Dell Beckham Jr. I'd
be done with him if I were the Giants, particularly
if I had a new head coach with no relationship
with him, and also if I were deciding to move
on from Eli, and if I have a talented running
back like say Klon Barkley. While the Eagles won last night,

I want to go around the horn and see what

(16:30):
the opinion is of the crew on whether or not
my idea to trade O'Dell Beckham Jr. And build around
se Kwan Barkley going forward makes sense to you if
you are running the Giants right now in the wake
of this season's complete and total disaster. Okay, quickly, Danny
g what you got? Yeah? I think if you're gonna

(16:52):
stick with Eli, then I like your monologue about sending
him away. The other option for me as a Raiders
fan would be in the money matches. How about this trade?
Straight up? I will give you Derek Carr for Odell
Beckham Jr. And then I'll start a J. McCarron for
the rest of the season. That's not a bad play
and then you and then I still have a couple

(17:13):
of number one draft picks. Obviously I could use one
of those during the next draft to get the best
college quarterback. Yeah right, I mean, I think the question
is do the Giants believe in Derek Carr anymore than
the Raiders do? I mean, and and and I think
the answer is probably not. I would bet the Giants
would rather go into the draft and go get a
brand new quarterback themselves, then try to figure out whether

(17:36):
Derek Carr is the solution to New York. I don't know,
what would you What do you think about the Giants
and if they could beef that up even more If
you have a good old line, Derek Carr could be
an m v P candidate if he has happy fee.
If you have a great quarterback, you don't trade him.
So that's a glaring red flag to me. If it's

(17:56):
if somebody is willing to move their quarterback, then there
have only been two quarterbacks who have ever won Super
Bowls that have been even free agents so far, and
both of them were severely injured Drew Brees, who ended
up with the Saints after his injury. We know all
about Drew Brees his history this week, and the other

(18:17):
one beyond the shadow of doubt was Peyton Manning. Only
two guys have left and been Super Bowl winners as
free agents, and like the last twenty five years of
the NFL, now Kurt Warner was somewhat close, but he
had already won a Super Bowl too. If you believe
in him, then use one of the number one picks

(18:37):
straight up. I'll give the Giants one of my number
ones for Odell Beckham Jr. Add him into the arsenal
with Coope Nelson, so suddenly you have Coop Nelson and
Beckham for car to throw too. If you think you
have a team that's good enough to contend for a
championship or advance in the playoffs, I don't think it's
outrageous at all to give up a first round pick

(18:58):
for O'Dell Beckham Jr. I think the challenges you need
to have a culture that is set up so that
when he comes in, you're not dealing with leaving half
leaving at halftime. Somebody has to be able to grab
him by the shoulder pads. And I'm just not sure
now that he's making twenty million dollars a year how
many teams are actually able to do that? Is he

(19:20):
worked from a pure talent perspective a first round pick? Yes,
would there be a lot of teams because he not
only need to be good this year, you need to
be good enough to contend for a Super Bowl title
the next two years as well. When he's making twenty
million dollars a year and it has to work from
a salary cap perspective. All of that has to work together.
But this morning, I'm on the phone to working them

(19:41):
to see if there's anything I can get. I want
a first round pick at least for Odell Beckham Jr.
And I also want out from underneath that contract. Roberto,
would you do it? Would you be willing to trade
O'Dell Beckham Jr? After last night? Yeah? The if the
Giants can get something for him. You had a trade on.
But Eli is also done. I guess, garbage man. Yeah,
but elis And that's the other reason why he needs
to go, because you're bringing in a rookie quarterback. Do

(20:03):
you want to have to deal with that? I don't.
What about you? What about you? Dub make the trade?
I mean I would, but well, what do other teams
thinking if you just signed this guy to a long
term extension and you're already trying to get rid of them. Well,
I think the easy the easy push. If I'm the
Giants g I'm taking phone calls is Look, you saw
what happened last night. We're one in five. Eli is
not the answer. We don't believe he's gonna win as

(20:24):
another Super Bowl. We're starting over and we're gonna build
around se Kwan Barkley. I don't think that's I don't
think that's a difficult conversation to have. We're drafting a
rookie quarterback. We don't think we're close to winning a
championship in the next two years. When we've got Odell
under contract for big money. It's time for us to
acknowledge that this year is not going to be us
returning to relevance. We're gonna be a three and thirteen,

(20:45):
four and twelve team and we're going back to the
youth movement and building around se Kwan Barkley. Uh, let's
go to Eddie Garcia for the update and also, Eddie,
what do you think about trading Odell? Yeah? I I
I'm just so sick of these guys that say you know, look, Amy,
what I'm worth, be fair to me. And then they
get the contract and they're still not happy and there's
still a pain in the ass. So yes, I would

(21:07):
be looking at move Odell Beckham. I'm with you, and
I think again, money makes you more of what you
already are. It's not like giving Odell Beckham suddenly twenty
million dollars, who was gonna make him happy. I don't
want to get all psychologists on you, but if you're
not happy making millions of dollars to play football, you're
probably not gonna be happy making tens of millions of
dollars to play football. Just just me out there being

(21:29):
a psychologist. Money makes you more of what you already are.
And Odell Beckham is not a good guy in the
in the locker room. He's already a cancer. He's already
a diva, and now I think he's more of one.
And that's not something I want on my team for
the next two years. When I've got a guy like
se Kwon Barkley, who's the better offensive playmaker? Al right,

(21:50):
claim the guy co scoreboard. Of course we're talking about it.
Thursday night football Eagles had no trouble going into New
York and beating the Jets. Carson Wentz three touchdown passes,
no intercept and two of them went to wide receiver
all Sean Jeffrey. Eagles now three and three with the
win on tied for the top of the NFC East.

in now my guy Lance Taylor at the Lance Taylor
on Twitter lt. You just heard me pulling everybody on
the show. Watching the game last night, I said, I'm

(23:15):
done with Odell Beckham Jr. You can't leave the field
with one second left when you're making twenty million dollars
a year. The antics on the sideline, they look at me.
Moments continue to become more extensive. Uh, this is a
Giants team that's dead in the water on the season.
Se Kwan Barkley is their best offensive playmaker. If I
could get out from under a twenty million dollar a
year deal that they should never have given Odell Beckham Jr.

(23:37):
That was my opinion when they did it. It's my opinion. Now,
what would you do? Would you try and trade him
at this point if you were the Giants. It's a
it's a tricky situation because the guys only twenty five
years old and we know that he um, you know,
when he's on, he is one of the best in
the league. But I mean this is only gonna get worse.
I mean, the Giants are maybe the worst team in
the NFL sitting at one and five. It at least

(23:58):
got the worst record. Uh ninety million dollar deal. I mean,
you just gave it to him with forty five million guaranteed.
I don't know what you can get. I don't know
what the market is. And obviously this is a wide
receiver's game now, along with franchise quarterbacks and ELI meaning
is he's awful. I mean, I heargu you guys talking
about it. He is just he's a shell of what
he once was. Um. I think Derek Carr is interesting.

(24:21):
I think Teddy Bridgewater in New Orleans is interesting. I mean,
is Sean Payton really going to stick around post Drew Brees.
I don't. I don't know if he is. Can you
imagine bringing a weapon like Odell Beckham Jr. In the
New Orleans and looks that's an not that that's an
equitable trade, But I think Bridgewater is still a quarterback
that's got a high ceiling, and you bring him in

(24:42):
and you throw into some other assets if you're New Orleans,
and I think you can make some things interesting. My god,
can you imagine if you think Drew Brees, well, let's
just say you are the Saints right now, and you
think Drew Brees has got two more really good years
after this year, that completely squares without all Beckham junior salary.
I think Drew Brees did like a one year deal.

(25:04):
Could you go to Drew Brees and say, hey, Drew,
you've made a hundred million dollars plus with us. Do
you want to submit your legacy and win another Super Bowl?
Can you imagine this offense if we added O'Dell Beckham Jr.
I would be like, sign me up right now, and
I would trade Teddy Bridgewater and a heartbeat. The Saints
is a perfect example of a team where Odell Beckham Jr.
Could make a great deal of sense. Maybe you even give,

(25:27):
maybe you could even get if you're the Giants, Teddy
Bridgewater and next year's first round draft pick from the Saints.
To me, that's a trade I make. I think O'Dell
Beckham Jr. Can be a difference maker for them in
terms of giving them a really really good shot to
win the NFC and win the Super Bowl overall. And
you've got an aging quarterback and Drew Brees who's thirty
nine years old but still at the apex of his game.

(25:48):
I love that deal. I think that's a no brainer.
If I'm the Saints, I signed the paperwork on that
and get him in immediately. Yeah, and you think about
Drew Brees. I mean, look, Marcus Colston was a good
receiver back in the day. Brandon Cooks, you know, for
a couple of years was a really good receiver. You know,
he's had a tight end and Jimmy Graham, but this
would be his best weapon ever in the history, uh,
you know, his entire career. So you pay him with

(26:10):
a guy like Michael Thomas and that offense, I mean,
it's already a really really good offense, but it would
be next level. Imagine if you're the Patriots. Honestly, if
you are the Patriots and you think Tom Brady's on
the back end of his career, which I think it's
fair to say he's forty one years old. You just
brought in Josh Gordon, You've got Julian Edelman back. You
need explosiveness because maybe your defense is not as good
as it's been in the past. Can you imagine the

(26:32):
Patriots making that move. I mean, if you have an
accomplished and reliable quarterback and you believe you are a
wide receiver away I mean, even like here in Nashville
with the Tennessee Titans, I think they're in decent cap space.
I would trade uh, I would trade away the number
one draft pick next year, beyond the shadow of a doubt,
to get O'Dell Beckham Jr. In with the Titans, and

(26:54):
you know, also tossing somebody else who. I mean, like,
I think there are a lot of teams that think, hey,
we're a playoff caliber team, but we just need one
more playmaker. I can see a lot of teams being
willing to make that move. And if I'm the Giants,
I mean, I think you have to be brutally honest
about where you are. Are we going to contend for
a Super Bowl in the next two years? If the

(27:16):
answer is no, then I think O'Dell Beckham Jr. Is
the wrong answer for your team. And so, I mean
it sounds crazy to say, but I build around Sae
Kwan Barkley. Let's be positive here, LT. How good is
Sae Kwon Barkley. He's unbelievable. I mean, six consecutive games,
all six of his NFL starts, He's gone past a
hundred yards from scrimmage. I mean, he can do everything.

(27:38):
There's not a weakness in his game right now. And
you look at what dynamic running backs can do, what
Todd Gurley has done for the Los Angeles franchise, what
Levian Bell can do when he is in the lineup. Um,
I mean there's it's it's priceless. And I think Barkley
is just going to continue to get better and better.
And let's let's not forget he's doing it for a
bad offense, you know. I mean Bell and Gurley are

(27:59):
doing it for really good offenses. Yeah. I I don't
think there's any doubt at all as we come into
the weekend. Um, what do you see out there? As
the biggest and best stories in the NFL From a
gambling perspective, what games are you paying the most attention to? Um,
you know, I well, this is kind of a weather
weird situation. But you know, us being in the South Quay,

(28:21):
you've seen to ninety degree weather this week. And I
look at the l A. Rams traveling to Denver with
a couple of prime weapons and Cooper cup and and
Brandon Cooks and concussion protocol, and Sell McVeigh says, look,
they're they've been limited in practice, but if they're full
go today and practice, they will play on Sunday. But
when you look at h that weather, it's a low

(28:43):
of nineteen degrees and snowing. And then yeah, so that's
one of those weird altitude games that I think could
be a lot of fun. Um, we'll see what happens there,
I think. You know, you look at the Chargers going
west to Cleveland. I mean, Cleveland has been a great
story and you talk about it. The Giants can't in
the Super Bowl in the next couple of years. They
probably need to maybe look at dealing Odell Beckham. But

(29:06):
you know, Cleveland was in this situation a couple of
years ago. I don't think they're super Bowl ready right now,
but they're a fun team to watch, and they're in
every single game, and actually the record should be better
than it is right now. What do you think about
the Cowboys in the Jag game? Because I I find
both of these teams to be very, very intriguing to
watch from from a gambling perspective and also a what

(29:27):
in the world's going on with these teams perspective. I
don't believe in Dak, I don't believe in Blake Bortles.
I'm taking the under in this game. But what happens
going forward for both of these teams, because I kind
of think that Cowboys will find a way to win
it and both of them will be sitting at three
and three thoroughly unhappy with their lot in life, because
they feel, to me, at least a little bit like

(29:49):
teams that should be much better than what they've been
capable of so far this year. Well, let me say
the second half of last year, Blake Bortles was playing
career football and then what he was able to do
in the postseason, and I thought, you know, even in
the second Africans New England in the a f C
Championship game. They kind of got away from Bortles. He's
not getting a lot of help right now though Clay
and Leonard Fournette can't stay healthy. D t j. Yelton

(30:10):
is not a primary number one back and even receivers
are dropping easy, easy balls right now. And when they
started two and oh, after beating the Giants and and
kind of dominating the Patriots, we were saying Jacksonville was
one of the Tip two War three teams in the league.
And then they lose to the Titans, that they always
lose to the Titans, and that was a tight game,
and not the Titans are a bad team right now.
I think the Titans are a little above average. And

(30:32):
then they go back. They bounced back from that, they
dominate the Jets, and then you know, against the Chiefs,
it was kind of a coin flip. I had a
feeling that Jacksonville would win that game with defense, and
you know, Blake Bortles was the old Blake Bortles throwing
to pick six and they didn't look good. But nobody's
really looked good against the Chiefs right now. I don't know, um,
I know this. The public is all over the Jags
on the road. Um, so it's a game I would

(30:53):
stay away from. I think the Jaguars are much better
than the Cowboys, but uh, you know where they are
right now, in the way they played last week and
where the money is. It's a game I don't touch.
But you you might be right. I mean, if I
had to play AF I had to play one angle
on this, it probably would be a total and I
probably would lean under because I don't see the Cowboys
doing anything against this Jag stepens. Let's go to college football.

(31:15):
Let's start with Georgia L s U. UM. I believe
George is going to go in and win by double
digits over L s U. I think we're gonna see
L s U kind of come back to earth. I
think the Tigers and I've been wrong about L s
U so far this year, but I think they're gonna
lose this game Los Obama and lose to Texas A
and M finish eight and four. What say you about
Georgia L s U. Okay, so last week, my biggest

(31:37):
game on the board was Florida against L s U.
And I just didn't believe L s U was, you know,
a top five team I know they were undefeated, and
I'll give words Draw on a lot of credit and
Joe Burrow not making mistakes and I thought he would
make mistakes and the swamp, which he ultimately did. But
watching this Georgia team, you know, I'm I'm dating at
Georgia girl, Georgia grad, and I get stuck into watching
these miserable Georgia games from start to finish. And although

(31:59):
the Final School Wars they look really good, Georgia hasn't
been that good at least the last three weeks. Even
at the fourteen point win against Missouri. Missouri was able
to run on that tour to the defense. And I
look at l s U, I think, Brosette if you
can stick to it, I think they can have success
against Georgia on the ground. And you look at l
s U. They've won twenty straight home games in the
month of October. You know their last October home loss,

(32:20):
Clay was back in two thousand and nine. To your boy,
Tim Tebow. It's been a long time since LSU's lost
one of these games down on the Bayou, and I
just think Tiger Stadium is gonna be rocking. And if
Borrow doesn't make those mistakes. Um, you know, Jake from
is six and one on the road at the starting quarterback.
But the last time he played in one of these
atmospheres it was that one loss last November in Jordan
Hare against Aubert. I think Georgia wins the game. The

(32:43):
game's gone up to seven and a half, and you know,
if I'm catching more than a touchdown in Tiger Stadium,
I'll take l s U. Two other top twenty five
games in college football, Washington on the road against Oregon
and Wisconsin on the road against Michigan. Do you like
either of these? What do you expect to see? Well?
I think the the Pack twelve game first is a
difficult one. If you have told me two years ago

(33:03):
when Jake Browning, as a sophomore was a Heisman finalist,
that his senior year on the road in Oregon would
not be the better quarterback of the two, I would said,
you're crazy, But Justin Herbert is the better quarterback right
right now. It leads to Pack twelve and QBR. Jake
Browning hasn't been himself, Miles Gaskin hasn't been himself, And
you know, I don't I don't know how to gauge

(33:23):
this game because I don't know if if Oregon is
ready to win big games. We saw it a few
weeks ago against Stanford where I still don't understand up
seven should have been up thirty one seven. How they
don't hold on and win that game. So that's the
game I probably stay away from. If I had to
play it, I would lean Washington just based on Washington defense.
But the other game that you mentioned, Michigan hosting Wisconsin,

(33:44):
I mean everything points to Wisconsin. Uh, just weird things
here when game days in town of ann Arbor, Michigan's
o win five. You look at Paul Chris, one of
the best road coaches out there, fifteen and one in
true road games. But Wisconsin so one dimensional right now.
With Jonathan Taylor, I know he leads to fps hundred
seventy yards per game. But on the other side, Michigan
and Don Brown defensively can make those adjustments and Alex

(34:06):
Corney Brooks not a quarterback that's gonna beatle. I love
Michigan at seven, I still love them at nine and
a half. I think Misgan wins this game going away.
Outstanding stuff. As always, lt go follow Lance Taylor at
the Lance Taylor on Twitter. Five jocks in Birmingham appreciate
the time, my man, have a great weekend. Alright. Up next,
we're gonna circle back around on what happened in Thursday

(34:28):
Night football. Big win by the way for Texas Tech
over TCU, as well in college football Cliff Kingsbury's Boys
four and two. But if you didn't hear our interview
with the Indian hunter who is trying to catch the
man eating tiger, We're gonna play that at the top
of our two. It may be the best interview we've
ever done on the show. We'll talk about it next

(35:56):
We treat you like you treat you were reacting to
Thursday now football, but coming up next. I gotta tell
you this right now, if you are on your way
to school, if you are on your way to work,
starting off the morning with us, you need to go
ahead and prepare for the fact that you're gonna be
fifteen minutes late. We're gonna play what I think is,

(36:19):
if not the best, one of the best interviews that
we've done on the show. So far, and it is
with an unbelievable subject. If you didn't hear it yesterday,
we had this live on the show in our three,
we talked with Nawab Chaffat Ali Khan. He is currently
in India trying to catch and or kill a man

(36:43):
eating tiger that has killed fourteen people in India. He
called us from the hunting camp effectively, and I gotta
tell you, guys, it was absolutely phenomenal the feedback that
we got on this interview. Because we ran it on
our three, we really didn't have time to react to it.

(37:04):
So we you're gonna play that for you at the
start of our two, and if you have not heard it,
I'm telling you right now it will make your Friday.
And if you did hear it, and you'll listen to
all three hours, you're probably gonna be like, man, I'd
like to hear that again. It's one of the most
popular things we have ever done on the show. We

(37:25):
interviewed him yesterday live in our three, So if you're
starting off your day with us in the early part
of the show, you definitely missed it. We're playing it
at the top of our two. Danny g you saw
all the feedback. You got him booked, but the feedback
was unbelievable in terms of how much people enjoyed it.

(37:46):
I could not keep up with answering a lot of
the comments and questions, and it's rare, especially on Twitter,
land of the negative, we're just about every tweet is positive.
In this case, ninety nine point nine percent of thousands
of tweets were all good and people going nuts saying

(38:06):
it was radio gold. And then there was one loser
Clay that I saw, who said something about we shouldn't
be killing tigers because they're endangered. We're talking about a
man eating tiger, so that that was kind of funny
to me. So n nine percent positivity on Twitter, Thank
you for the love, and that was history for this

(38:26):
show because we've never gotten a guest halfway across the world,
and it's rare and radio as you know, as far
as celebrating as if Patrick Mahomes just threw a long bomb,
but that's exactly what we were doing here in the
l A studios with with Roberto and Eddie and Vito
came in and dubbed through the message and I was
literally doing the Tiger Woods fist pump after he answered

(38:48):
your first question, and by the way, I love the
questions you asked him. We learned so much in that
fourteen minutes. It was amazing all the knowledge that that
dude gave to us from India. Yeah, and look, we're
gonna open up the phone lines too, and I'll let
dub if you. I want people to be able to
react to this interview, So we're gonna play the interview
for you at the start of our two eight seven, seven, nine, nine, six,

(39:11):
six three six nine. Will take your reactions on UH
to this interview as well, UH for those of you
out there setting a roadmap for how the rest of
the show is gonna go. We're gonna go with our
Indian Tiger Hunter. At the top of our two, we'll
talk with Jeff Schwartz as well an hour two about
the upcoming weekend in the NFL and college football. Our three,
we're gonna touch base with Jason Whitlock again. He's sitting

(39:34):
in for me on Lock it In next week on television.
By the way, I'm on a roll Unlock it In.
I'm leading coming into the weekend. I need to win
that weekly contest. But Jason Whitlock is setting in sitting
in for me. I'm doing the show next week from London, England.
I'm gonna go over and watch the Chargers in the
Titans game, taking my whole family. We'll see how that goes.

(39:54):
We're flying over UH tomorrow night late to London, and
so I be over there next week doing the show.
Jason Whitlock will be sitting in with him, and then
we're gonna talk with Joel Klatt, who is calling the
Minnesota against Ohio State game UH for Fox tomorrow on Saturday.
And all that is still loaded and locked and loaded

(40:16):
and coming your way. But I'm telling you right now,
I will write you a excuse note. If you're late
for school or for work, you gotta tell people. I
was listening to Clay Travis's interview with the man who
is trying to catch a man eating tiger and or
kill that tiger that has killed fourteen people in India.
Your mind is gonna be blown with this interview that

(40:37):
we're gonna start off hour two with. Just trust me,
it's worth being late to work for, it's worth being
late to school for. Just walk in and say, hey, guys,
your principal. Sorry, I had to listen to Clay Travis's
interview with the man eating tiger hunter. Same thing at work, people,
I'm telling you, your boss will just say I get it.
Noody to explain your school principle will say, I get it.
I know how good that interview was too. It's next

(41:00):
right now on out Kick and it is gonna blow
your mind. And I don't think I am over selling it.
Then we'll take your reactions. Eight seven seven six three
six nine. This is out Kick up next Indian Hunter.
Be sure to catch live editions about Kick the coverage
with Clay Travis weekdays at six am Eastern three am
Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the I Heart Radio app.

(41:23):
You never know what you're gonna get on this show.
We have now nowab chaffat Ali Khan, one of India's
most famous tiger hunters. I believe he is on the
line with us from the tiger hunting camp in India.
Mr Khan, how are you? Yes? Hello, you are right now? Yes,

(41:44):
I appreciate you joining us. Thank you so much. Uh,
you are in a camp hunting a man eating tiger
right now? Correct? Absolutely cool? Yes, what is the latest
on the tiger hunt? You see? This is one of
the most challenging and difficult operations of the century where

(42:06):
it involves four tigers. The main man eater is a
tiger is called t one and she has two cubs
which are about ten months old, and they have also
tasted human flesh. So we have orders now to trankuilize
the mother and the cubs and if that is not possible,

(42:29):
to eliminate her by shooting. What is when a when
a tiger taste human flesh? What happens? Do they continue
to eat it? Do they like it? What happens there? Uh,
It's much easier to hunt a human being compared to
any other animal in the wild because the natural prey

(42:51):
of tigers, that's wild boar and other herbivores, they can
smell a tiger and get away, whereas human being is
completely breast of the power of smell, and he becomes
an easy prey. And especially when there are cubs at hell,
it's easy for the tigers to catch human beings and

(43:14):
feed them. And once they start feeding on human beings,
they realize that the meat is softer and easier for
the cubs to chew, and it's much easier to hunt.
So that's why. Once they become manators, they continue to
kill human beings and that becomes a very serious matter.

(43:37):
So far, fourteen innocent people have lost their lives to
this tigers four fourteen one four wow? Uh? And how
long have you been trying to hunt and catch or
kill this tigress? Operation has been going on for last
one and a half years, but I have been involved

(43:59):
by orders of the Honorable Supreme Court of India and
I'm here for past one week. How long do you
think it will take to catch or kill the tiger?
It's very difficult because the monsoons are just over, and
the tall grass and bushes are making my operation difficult,
and the tigers is become extremely elusive. Three attempts to

(44:24):
tranquilize her have failed. She has become extremely clever now
and avoiding human beings. So it's a very challenging operation
and I think it will take a considerable amount of
time by the time we zero onto her. How many
tigers have you killed in your life? About seven man eaters?

(44:48):
Seven different man eating tigers? Yes? What in what way
do you typically kill the man eating tiger? You see,
once they become man eaters, their body language changes because
man is not a natural prey of any of these caps.

(45:08):
So if we have to differentiate, we with my experience,
I can make out by seeing a tiger whether it's
a normal tiger or a man eater. And by this
we identify them. And I use a heavy rifle, and
I use a for fifty eight Winchester magnum, which is
incidentally an American weapon, and uh, and we shoot them

(45:32):
with that. Have you ever come close to being attacked
or harmed by a tiger while trying to kill one
of these man eating tigers? Yes, several times have had
very close shapes in my life. How close? How close
did it come to the tiger being able to harm you?
I have shot a tiger when he was three feet

(45:54):
away from the battle of my rifle. Wow, running at you,
running at me, charging at me. After taking two bullets
from a fifty eight magnum, it came for me. And
the last shot that I took in between its eyes.
The tiger was hardly three feet away from me. So

(46:16):
you have elephants. How are the elephants used to help
catch the tigers? Elephant can maneuver into the jungle where
no other vehicle can go, and it moves silently, so
we are at an advantage of height and plus the

(46:37):
elephant has a super developed sense of smell. So the
intelligent hunting elephant will indicate to its driver that there
is a tiger in the area and that gives us
a fraction of a second to get alert. We're talking
to a Nawab Chaffat Ali Khan. He is one of

(46:59):
the DA's most famed tiger killers. He has killed seven
man eating tigers. He is looking for a tiger that
has killed fourteen people in India. Right now, you are
talking to us from the tiger hunting camp. What is
the day to day uh, tiger hunting like for you? You
You wake up in the morning and do what take

(47:21):
us through your day as you stalk and pursue this tiger.
We have a very tight schedule. I'm working for almost
twenty hours a day and morning night we set up
ninety camera traps in the area and morning I check
all those cameras to see if there is any image

(47:43):
of the man eater. And once we get this image,
then we tipe bit and we make platforms on the
trees and I have my sons agra with me. We
put him up on a marchan. Then during the day,
if any of the shepherd has had a direct sighting
of the animal, then I go there with my team

(48:05):
and I tried to flush the tiger out because it's
a desperate situation. The farmers here are up in arms
and it's it's a very very serious matter. Twenty six
villages are affected and about thirty men are not able
to come out of their houses. Nobody knows if one

(48:27):
will get back home or he'll be killed by the
man eater. So the matter is, the situation is extremely tense,
and we are working around the clock. I drive around
the entire night with spotlights just trying to see if
I can get get a glimpse of the man eater.
But she's become so clever now that for past one

(48:49):
week we haven't had a direct siting. What how did
you become a tiger killing expert? You said you've killed
seven man eating tigers and your wife and we're talking
again to Nawab Shaffat Ali Khan. How did you decide
or become a tiger expert and how did you go

(49:10):
about killing your first tiger and hunting him when he
was killing people. We belong to the royal family of
Hyderabad and my late grandfather, Nawab Sultan Adihan Bahador was
advisor to British government on man animal conflict and he
was an expert on rogue man killing elephants. So I

(49:34):
grew up in an atmosphere where man animal conflict and
problem animals stories donned the dining table every day. And
as I grew up with my grandfather, I would see
him go out and track tigers, identify managers, reading pug marks,

(49:54):
studying the psychology of these cats and rogue elephants. So
the atmosphere of the house always circled problematic elephants. And
my grandfather was advisor to the British government for almost
twenty years. And in nineteen seventy two, when the Wildlife
Protection Act came in India and a total ban on

(50:17):
hunting was introduced, all the gentlemen hunters and the sportsmen
hung up their weapons and there was a vacuum in
the country for someone professional. I shot my first rogue
elephant that had killed twelve people when I was just
nineteen years old, and after that I have conducted twenty

(50:40):
four operations for the Downment of India, wherein I have
shot rogue elephants, many things that words, manyting tigers, and
now I'm into train touilizing of these dangerous animals. I've
trent tolize the rogue elephant. Last year, I tryed to
rize the manting tiger. Is so and I'm also a

(51:02):
former national shooting champion in India. So with my shooting
background and the train to lizing expertise, I'm the man
the government of India looks too whenever they have a problem.
This is an amazing story. And we're talking again across
the nation. You're hearing from Nawab Shaffat Ali Khan. Have

(51:23):
you ever tracked a tiger that has killed more than
fourteen people? Or is this the most deadly tiger you
can recall in India? No, this is the most deadly
tiger that I'm working on. And as I told you
there there are two cubs with this tigers which are
almost ten months old, which means they are bigger than

(51:45):
a jaguar you get in America. All these all these
three animals are moving together. It's become all the more
difficult and risky for me. And then apart from this,
the father of the two cubs. The male adult tiger,
which we have labeled as T two, is also in

(52:05):
the same area that tiger I cannot shoot. I have
to eliminate only the mother because in DNA tests, the
saliva of T one, the mother of the two cubs,
has been found on human bodies that were killed. So
now I have orders to eliminate the T one which

(52:28):
is the mother, and captured the two cubs. So it's
a very very challenging operation. And I have never done anything,
and I've never worked on any tiger that had killed
so many people. Last year, I shot a rogue elephant,
a rogue elephant last year in Jargon, which had killed

(52:49):
fifteen people. We are taught this is an amazing story.
So I read the New York Times had a big article,
which is where I've been following this case. Um, and
by the way, can we get you to call in
with us weekly and update us as you continue this
pursuit of the tiger. Would you be willing to do that? Definitely? Definitely,

(53:10):
it could be an honor for me. But the only
problem is I had to come out of my camp
because where my camp and where the tigers is there
is no mobile network. Yeah, I had to travel fifteen
kilometers for a better mobile network and I'm to be
a pleasure um talking to my brothers in America. And

(53:31):
I assure you, once this operation was over, I'll come
over to America for a life show with you. Oh oh, oh,
this is this is incredible. All right, last question for you, UM,
what is it about obsession cologne that you guys are
trying to use obsession cologne to attract the tigers that

(53:51):
has killed fourteen people in India so far? What makes
that potentially effective? When I don't agree with that because
I had tried various methods. It may work on a
normal tiger or a tiger is, but manaters become extremely
clever and all these things don't work. We've always followed

(54:15):
the traditional method of identifying pug marks, reading pug marks
and following them on foot, where it's a very very
challenging and dangerous operation. You're walking with the rifle ready
and a ground in the chamber and you're following a
manator expecting a charge any moment. That is the only

(54:37):
thing that's been done in this country and we continue
to do that now. Wab Chaffat Ali Khan. We can't
wait to get an update. Stay safe, sir. We appreciate
the time and I can't wait to talk to you again.
Thank you so much. Godless. Not gonna lie. That's the

(54:58):
greatest interview I've ever done in the history my radio career.
No wab chaffat Ali Khan. Major rewards coming for Danny
G for making that happen. That was an unbelievable interview.
You can react to it at Clay Travis on Twitter. Uh.
Keep him on the line if you can, Danny G
and figure out how we can schedule a time to
get a weekly update from him until he comes to

(55:20):
America and comes in studio with us. Absolutely phenomenal interview
set up there by Danny G. No wab chaffat Ali Khan.
I'm gonna open up the phone lines now. I'm gonna
let you guys react. You can react if that's the
first time you were hearing it yet Again, that happened

(55:41):
yesterday live on the show. We didn't know what was
gonna happen. He called in an hour three. You heard
us talking about it yesterday an hour one. Uh, and
we've talked about this story in general. Fourteen He says
people have been killed in India by this tiger, and
he is now daily out there trying to track it
and either capture it or kill it. The most deadly

(56:02):
man eating tiger in his life in India. This is
just phenomenal in general. I'm gonna open up the phone
lines and let you guys react to that interview. We
will also continue to roll on the show. But spectacular
work all around. Eight seven seven nine six three six nine.
Can find me on Twitter at Clay Travis. I'll read

(56:22):
some of your reactions as well. All of that still

I'm not sure exactly what the handsome reward will be,

(57:32):
but it will be coming, am I on right now,

You can find us easily on Twitter and the responses
I'm just rolling right through. You can go search out
um at Clay Travis and see these things. Uh as
we go. UH. The Rogue Animal Hunter interview is one
of the best interviews I've ever heard. Great job, keep
up the hard work. That's John. I listened to the
interview with the Tiger Hunter during my drive to the office.

(58:15):
That was by far. Uh, your most shining moment on radio.
You asked the right questions. You allowed this man to
describe his history, his challenges, and his brushes with death
hashtag Marconi Award. I'm just reading in order. Uh. This
was absolutely awesome. Shut Uh. Uh, let's see, I can't
read that one. I've listened to this interview two and

(58:37):
a half times now. That was amazing. Mom, you gotta
get some cameras over there. What an awesome show that
would be. It would be amazing if we could go
to India and do a live show from the Tiger Camp.
Um and Uh, excellent interview. That was amazing. I can't
wait to hear more from him. Man eating Tiger interview
was incredible, absolutely fascinating stuff. Uh, you were more than

(58:58):
just a sports talker radio show host. Get the Tiger
hashtag man Eater. Awesome interview with the Tiger Hunter. Can't
wait for an update. Uh. The best part was when
he said he would come to America to do a show,
Clay had a tiger gasm. That interview was Radio Gold,
what a great interview. Uh, Michael Dorso, this is a
good one. I'm not one to brag, but I'm also
national shooting champion nowad Shabab Clay Travis Ali Khan. Uh.

(59:23):
I was so captivated by the replay of the Tiger
Hunter piece that I drove past my exit on the
way to work. So work that hashtag Tiger Hunter. Freaking
great interview. Dude as a freaking badass. Absolutely brilliant Radio
this morning, Tiger Killer. I'm just reading them in order
as they have come in in the last five minutes.
Awesome interview with the Tiger Hunter. Uh. You need to

(59:44):
make an out kick shirt with this Tiger Hunter guy
on it that says I'm the man you call when
you have a problem, which is amazing. The Tiger Hunter
interview maybe the best interview you've ever done. Listening to
the whole thing. Just listen to the interview with the
Tiger Hunter. Incredible story. That guy's the real deal. Radio Gold. Uh,
you deserve an award for the Tiger Hunter interview. Riveting stuff. Um,

(01:00:04):
this is amazing. All of that, the man eating tiger
guys riveting real life Jaws situation. Only staying out of
the water won't help you. This is uh, this is
incredible reaction. Again, you can find me on Twitter at
Clay Travis. We saw similar reactions yesterday. Uh, Danny G
you did you respond to a lot more people than
I do. I basically have said, look I it with

(01:00:26):
the television show going on and everything else, I can't
spend my days on social media reacting and responding to
people as much as I did before. I just don't
have the time. But it is Uh, the feedback is
amazing and I do love just scrolling through like I
did right there and just hitting the most recent twenty
things that people are sending to me. Uh, and it
is uh, it is pretty outstanding. Yeah. Whenever you can

(01:00:49):
do really fun, good quality radio, especially with an interview,
it's money. And it was fun yesterday to leave work
smiling air to air. I went and had some celebration
pizza and put some calories in me. It was a
good day, as ice Cube would say. And by the way, Clay,
really quick before we get two calls, I know dub

(01:01:09):
is screening calls coming in. I did not mean to
hang up on Polly from the DP show. Thank god
I didn't do that to the Tiger Hunter yesterday on
the tire Yeah, Polly called the hotline back. All right,
let's take a couple of your calls, Richard in St. Louis.
What's op Richard? Hey quay um unbelievable interview that so

(01:01:30):
far transcended sports into mainstream media. I told the people
I work with, I go, we ought to be hearing
about this on Tucker Carlson. David Muir could put aside
as Trump hating for one night and talk about it
on ABC World News tonight. But the visceral reaction, I
think to you, just because of your candor on issues
like race and your refusal to attack the president and

(01:01:53):
be fair minded, is the reason why it's not in
the mainstream media. I mean, why are we not hearing
about is everywhere else? That's the big story here. That's
an incredible interview, absolutely out of the park. Any anybody
on the mainstream shows from the from the daytime ones
to the evening should be talking about this. Why aren't they?

(01:02:14):
I think that's a bigger story. This was outstanding, under
sold for sure about you guys. It was absolutely tremendous.
Thank you for the call. Look, I have gotten used
to I think there's a lot of jealousy and the
media over the rise of out Kick, and I've just
gotten used to the fact that we dominate and people
don't want to give us credit for dominating. That's just

(01:02:35):
what happens. And uh, I think probably you know, in
thirty years, I'll be a lot less threatening, assuming I'm
still alive and I haven't killed myself by working too much.
But there are people out there to get praised all
the time in the media that have a fraction of
the audience that we do, and have a fraction, frankly
of the talent that this show has on a day
to day basis, And I'm just kind of used to
it at this point. Jose and Fremont, what's up? What's brother? Man?

(01:02:59):
Let me tell you something. Man, It's like you you
were literally the Carlo Fagan of the radio of the
radio sound ways bro. That interview was off the hook
and they want to cut you off hours short out
here with this affiliate and listen to ball watching. Are
they tripping? You just slammed dumping all their souls out
here just on that one interview. Brother, Yeah, thanks for

(01:03:21):
the calling. San Francisco gets triggered by me. Sometimes we're
on for two of the three hours in San Francisco.
The number one complaint I get an out kick by
far is why is the third hour not on in
San Francisco. So, if you're listening to the show right
now and you like this show, that's a question you
should be asking the San Francisco station. I appreciate the
fact they have two of our three hours, but a

(01:03:42):
lot of people want the five am hour live in
San Francisco. Riley in Utah, what's up? Yeah? So yeah, again,
that was an amazing interview. And I was just listening
to a driv at home and like just stunned. But
someone's probably said this before, but I just can't understand
how that hasn't been a move movie made of this
guy's life. Like he like, I mean, he he grows

(01:04:06):
up in the hand of his grandfather, who is a
special adviser to the British government for Animal human conflict.
He rises to become his national shooting champion, kills his
first rogue elephant at the age of nineteen, when most
of us are, you know, freshman in college. Doing who
knows what and now is like the kingpin of the
Indian government that anytime there's any sort of issue with

(01:04:29):
you know, man eating tigers or rogue elements or something,
they call him. And in this particular situation, like he said,
there are thirty thousand people who like can't go outside
and like do anything, and he they call him to
come and fix this problem there. Like I would buy
the crap out of a movie about this guy. I
appreciate the call, Oriley. I had the same thought. I

(01:04:50):
mean a part of me thinking, and we finished that interview,
I kind of want to take off and just go
to India and write this guy's story, all right. I mean,
I just finished my book, but I would love to go.
And I'd probably die of malaria or something because I'm
I'd be a total pussy willow once I actually got
into the tiger hunting camp. But I think that's an

(01:05:12):
amazing book. I mean, I would watch that in a second,
and if it were a movie, and I would read
the hell out of a book about this guy. And
I mean, in all honesty, I mean I really do.
I really did think when we finished that interview, Man,
I should be on a plane to India, following this
guy around as he tracks the tiger, writing a book

(01:05:32):
about it. I can't make movies, but I think somebody
could turn a book that I wrote into a movie.
And if I were waking up in l A right
now and I heard that interview, I'd be like, I
want this guy's life story. It has to be a movie,
no doubt about it. Robert in Illinois, what's up, Clay?
What's up? Great interview, buddy, Thank you, Robert. Okay, I

(01:05:55):
want to talk to you about one thing. You know,
if j mart was still there, he wouldn't He would
have screwed this up. So I'm thinking you, oh and yo,
Danny g at least a thousand bucks. That's got to
be the reward for him. That's not a bad that's
not a bad. It's not a bad idea that I've
got to think about. What up? Jay Martin probably would
have screwed this up, There's no doubt about that. Alex

(01:06:15):
in Arizona, what's up, Alex? We just lost Alex? What
about Brian in Atlanta? What's up, Brian? Clay. I think
the reason this is so fascinating is I put myself
in the position of being that hunter and and I
think I would have to change mind to where at
least ten times an hour. Um. But I don't understand

(01:06:36):
the tranquilizing part. I would have a bazooka with me
play as soon as I saw it it's over. I
would not tranquilize. I don't understand why they would want
to tranquilize it. Just kill it and be done with it.
That I agree completely with you. I think if you
if if the if the animal has killed fourteen people,
I don't think we need to tranquilize it and keep

(01:06:57):
it somewhere. Lorenzo in Atlanta? What's up with Lorenzo? It's
up playing me? How are you doing? Hey? I want
to touch on two things here real quick. First thing is, uh,
you can't ever complain again about your staff not making
things that happen, because then e g. Joe showed up
and made a boss play for you. That was fantastic. Uh.

(01:07:20):
Second thing I want to talk about is UM. I
don't know if the NFL does three way trades, but
I was thinking Derek Card to the Jaguars for first
and second round pick, and then O'Dell to the Raiders
for three second round picks, Uh, the one they got

(01:07:40):
from the Jaguars the second round this year and the
year after that. Fordell, what do you think about that?
I would trade O'Dell. That's what I opened the show with, UH,
and I appreciate the Colrenzo Lorenzo is reacting to my
suggestion based on Thursday Night Football what we saw. The
Giants are dead. I think Eli Manning is finished and
I think big story the Giants have to decide is

(01:08:01):
what do they do? What do they do with O'Dell
Beckham Jr. In his massive contract? Considering they're probably going
to bring in a rookie quarterback in this year's draft
in May and be drafting near the top of the
of the draft. I don't want a rookie quarterback dealing
with O'Dell Beckham Junior's ridiculousness. If I were the Giants,
I would go in and I would acknowledge that we

(01:08:22):
overpaid O'Dell, that things have gone astray rapidly, and that
we have to make the decision to go out and
make a best decision we can going forward for our franchise,
and I don't think that involves Odell Beckham Jr. Being
on the team at all. All right, well, you're gonna
talk with Jeff Schwortz. I'll ask him that question. He
was on the Giants. He played in the same locker

(01:08:43):
room with O'Dell Beckham Jr. He knows that Eli. What
does he think The solution to this problem is We
will talk with him next about the game that happened
last night. You can continue to react as always find
me on Twitter at Clay Travis. We bring in Eddie
Garcia find out what's shaken in the world of sports,
and let's give you a guy co scoreboard. We start
with Thursday Night football in the NFL, where the Eagles

(01:09:04):
went into New York and had no trouble beating the
Giants thirty four to third teen. The final. Philadelphia quarterback
Carson Wentz was twenty six and thirty six, passing for
two hundred seventy eight yards, three touchdowns, no interceptions. Two
of them went went to wide receiver all Sean Jeffrey
Philadelphia and proves the three and three. With the win,
they're tied for the division lead. Giants dropped to one
and five with a loss. There at the bottom of
the NFC East. Thursday Night college football at Big twelve matchup.

(01:09:27):
Texas Tech gets a couple of touchdowns from quarterback Jet Duffy,
including a rushing touchdown on the fourth quarter that was
a difference in a seventeen fourteen win for Texas Tech
at TCU. Post season baseball gets back under way later
on today in Game one of the National League Championship Series,
with the Brewers hosting the Dodgers that are getting away
at eight o'clock Eastern time. It's on FS one. Clayton

(01:09:47):
Kershaw starts for l A against Geo Gonzalez of Milwaukee.

(01:10:08):
Thursday night football? What is the path forward for the Giants?
Doesn't make sense? Like I said to trade him. We
are live right here in the Geico out Kick Studios
where it's easy to say or more on car insurance

way is easier. Up next at Jeff Shorts. I'm Clay Travis.

Outkicks Studios, brought to you by Discover Card. We treat

(01:10:53):
you like you to treat you all right, Let's go
to Jeff Shortz. He was in that Giant the locker
room with the ELI with Odell Beckham Jr. A couple
of years ago. Jeff, what's your immediate reaction to what
you saw happened last night against the Eagles to drop
the Giants to one in five? Man, the Giants are

(01:11:16):
just the best right now. It's funny O'Dell Odell You
know he left the field early again and before halftime,
and I tweet out that he's gonna blame you know,
in the ivy and of course that's what he did.
But look, he's upset. I understand they paid him a
lot of money. He wants the ball, he wants to
do more in that offense. I get it. Look stay
Kwan Barkley. We saw what he can do. Um. But everything,

(01:11:37):
everything keeps changing except for Eli and UM. I think
at some point it's tough to admit that it might
be Eli, because look, I played with Eli. I love Eli.
He won the Giants does two shuper Bowls with some
outstanding playoff performances. Um, but everything has changed. Offensive line
has changed, the head coaches changed, the GM has changed
and added weapons offense, and they still can't do anything

(01:11:59):
on off sense. So at some point you got turned
to the quarterback. Can probably think, hey man, that it's
part of the quarterback. Now, okay, you have been in
those huddles. What do you think the team's reaction was
when they had one second left or two seconds left
time to run one play? It seemed like Eli went
into the huddle, realized Odell Beckham Jr. Wasn't there, and

(01:12:20):
then look to the sideline. Did you notice that? Like
it was as if like he was like, wait a minute,
our guys are not all here, and then what do
you think that the circle there? The Huddle's reaction to
Odell Beckham Jr. Not Being on the field was, um,
I don't know if I wouldn't even if it's alignment,
I'm not sure I wouldn't even noticed it, probably and
they was like, oh, don't do here, okay. Um Eli

(01:12:44):
probably would obviously notice because he's more concerned about which
players on the field of substitution wise, and he was
probably pissed. I think that he probably was pissed that
he wasn't that he was on the field. I mean,
I don't I don't know how we're going to try
to make it out to be that way. But look,
Eli Um, for as good as he's been in his

(01:13:05):
career of times, he has always been escape Joad all
the time. I mean, I said, there's office I live in.
I live in Charlotte and Panther fans Um refused to
say anything there about him Newton any time in his career,
never anything in New York. They can't wait to get
rid of you. I the last five years people would
claim and get rid of Eli. He's one of the
two siviable, so there's always been here. I think he

(01:13:28):
takes a pretty more. I mean this week he said
if someone said, you know, do you do you? You know?
Did you listen to O'Dell interview? And he goes, I
don't even know who little Wayne is. Of course he
does right like, of course he does. But he takes
things in stride. He understands that, Um, part of his
job in New York is he's going to get a
lot of attention and a lot of negative attention. How

(01:13:49):
much do you think O'Dell Beckham Jr. Is acting out?
Could be that he's recognized he isn't the best player
on the offense anymore that, say, Kwan Barkley is good question. Um,
I don't think that's the case, because they are still
trying to throw the ball a lot. I mean, they
should be given the ball more to Barkley. He only
got thirteen carries last night and he ran for a
hundred and thirty yards, Like you should be getting more

(01:14:11):
touches and he's not. So I think that the frustration
is that they're just not finding Odell. I mean there's
times where he's been open and Eli has has airmailed him,
or he doesn't he doesn't throw him the ball. I mean,
think when any waters he right with san Antonio Brown
doing this this year. Um, and if theyre just getting
the ball, they're they're not happy about it. And that's
something when it comes down to, not that take Barkley

(01:14:32):
is there. I'm sure that he enjoyed. Look, he's got
a screen pass. I mean they throw screens all the time.
So um, I think it's more that he's just not
getting the ball period, not that sake Bond Barkley is
taking his touches from him. All Right, you are the
Giants GM. You have given Odell Beckham Jr. Sixty million
dollars some odd guaranteed over the next three years. Basically

(01:14:53):
you are locked into that massive contract. You just said,
maybe Eli, I think it's a fair analysis after this game,
maybe Eli is not going to be in New York
the next couple of years that that deal is done.
What do you do if you think you're gonna be
going into the draft and taking a quarterback who is
a rookie in the first round and bringing him to

(01:15:15):
New York. You just mentioned all the scrutiny that a
quarterback is under in a city like New York. Do
you want Odell Beckham Jr. Being on that team? Or
if you were the Giants GM, would you acknowledge your
more than a couple of years away from winning a
championship and see if there's any interest anywhere in Odell.
I don't think you're I don't think you're that far off.

(01:15:36):
I mean, look at the talent they have offense. They
have strong Shepherd O'Dell evan, Ingram Cyclon Park League, and
that their offense July is not as bad as people
want want to once a claim. They have their issues,
but they're not the hard of the problem. Defensively, their
defense the last night they got torch an other defense
just fed up. Their defenses is a very good unit.

(01:15:56):
They have a very good defensive one that have two
Pro Bowlers in the back and they're just tired of
carrying this team. And I get it, man, it's frustrating
that to do that. I mean, they played the Saints
two weeks ago at home. The Saints. The first five
times that they win the red zone they keep four
field goals, and the Giants defense and doing a good job.
You put Justin Herbert on the team from Oregon and
your set man. I mean we've seen with Carson Wentz,

(01:16:17):
with with Russell Wilson, with maybe Jared Goff this year.
You can win early with a quarterback. Now. Guys are
way more ready than they used to be as long
as you surround them with talent. The Giants don't have
cap room for next year as well as they can
go ahead and get themselves right tackle, let's say, or
or find some more parts to add on defense. But
you sew justin Herbert in there. I think it's the

(01:16:37):
best quarterback. I don't think it's even close right now.
And that's not my bias of Organs speaking out. I've
watched quarterbacks play. Herbert is everything he wanted the quarterback. Uh,
you put them on that team, give him a year
or two, and the Giants are are right back in it.
So you would not explore the idea of trading O'Dell
at all. No, All right, well, I think I think

(01:16:57):
we keep a wide receivers. Man. That's like part of
their thing. I play with Steve Smith the Hall of Fame,
the Hall of Famer, the same thing. They just want
the ball um and uh they want to come back
that that you can give the ball. The guys still
love in the locker room, and he's not a big issue.
All right, So let's go to the biggest game of
the weekend in the NFL. Your brother plays on the

(01:17:19):
offensive line for the Kansas City Chiefs. They are five
and oh, one of two undefeated teams. They're going on
the road as underdogs against the Patriots. What happens, Yeah,
you never, I think you never that against the Patriots,
especially as a whole favorites kind of costom money over time.
But man, I don't know how you don't take the
points here because of the scoring opportunities both teams that have.

(01:17:41):
I mean, this game is gonna be a track meet,
and that leads me to think the points on the
chief side, especially at three and a half, or decide
to play. I mean, I think that that the one
thing that this is what's gonna happen. In my opinion,
this game the Patriot who won the football a lot
um the Patriots. What they do bash they tell their
game planned to what the other team does. Poor. You know,

(01:18:02):
Jacksonville did not run the ball duff on Sunday, even
with even they were down ten nothing. It's early the game, man,
keep running the football. The Chiefs are giving up five
point seven seven yards to carry. An NFL team is
allowing five point seven yards to carry. So I think
the ones that run the ball a lot on Sunday
and that should limit the possessions for for for palma

(01:18:23):
homes and also eat at the clock. So maybe he's
not as nice Scola as I think it could be. Um,
but that's what they're gonna do in my opinion, And
it shows down to the Chiefs run defense, and the
Chiefs run defense can stop the Patriots. The Chiefs to
win this game. That the Patriots are not going to
stop the Chiefs on defense, Dale or surpasser at all. Uh,
if you sit back in his zone coverage kind of homes,

(01:18:44):
eat your lives. Throwing eleven touchdowns and he's completing five
percent of passes if you don't pressure him. Um and
and and so I unders think that the Keyton game
is is can the Patriots ruin the football? And how
the chief stuff in there? What do you think is
gonna happen? Another big game? You mentioned that you went
to Oregon. You like Justin Herbert, you like him. Do
they beat Washington or not? Will they be able to

(01:19:06):
get the big win up there in uh in your
home stadium, or will they choke it away like they
did against Stanford. That's so rude but true. Um. Uh,
you know, here's the deal. Washington number one in the
country and on defense allowing the least amount of explosive
place um on in the past game. In organist issue

(01:19:27):
on the offensive one the two is now that the
buy to prepare for this. How do you get your
wide receivers open against Washington? That is what you prepared
for the last two weeks. Uh. What helps in this
equation is Washington is awful rush of the pastor there
hundred and fifty twelve and sack right. Um, no one
has a routing offensive line. So if organ Is stand

(01:19:47):
away the last two weeks to get the open whether
it's uh interesting formations, whether it's do Rounte concepts, whether
it's more besched up, whenever you can do get these
guys open back to key this game. I think that
just and so we will be fine. Uh the football,
they'll be fine. It's a matter of critics find exposed
to plays in the past game. Look, I'm obviously a homer. Um.

(01:20:09):
I think Oregon it's much better than people thought they'd be,
especially me. I thought that they were more physical on
the lines because I have two reserve repair for this
and they can manage and not, you know, make some
dumb mistakes that you get Stanford. Uh, they have a
great chance to win this game, and they win this game. Um,
they had a good chance to win the North. So um,
it's a big game for us. Jeff Shorts, appreciate the

(01:20:30):
time my man. Enjoy by the way, when Graham Gano
kicked that sixty three yard field goal and you were
in the Panthers stadium, what was your reaction, Oh, I
believe it or not? Um, an almost time. I got
with the heart out of my sons his first game
and I thought we'd leave it halftime, and he said,
I don't want to stay. Everyone else's staying. And he
turned to me with three minutes or forty seconds left

(01:20:51):
in the game said Daddy, I'm gonna go home with you.
So I was Actually I actually made it back to
my house to see the kick. I was not on
the stadium for that, So of the worst time I possible.
That's perfect parenting story. Appreciate the time by man. Jeff,
by the way, is going to be in UH sitting
in as part of our coverage next week while I'm

(01:21:11):

bit of difficulty obviously doing the show from London. So

Some of you listening right now heard that an hour three.
If you did not hear it yesterday, I'm telling you
it's an hour two of the podcast. Today, we replayed it.
You will absolutely love it. We have got a loaded
hour three for you schedule to talk to a bunch
of different people. But off the jump here, off the jump,

(01:22:20):
I think and what we learned on Thursday Night Thursday
Night football. First of all, in college football, huge win
for Texas Tech and Cliff Kingsbury going on the road
against TCU. Massive win for Texas Tech to get to
four and two. We'll talk about that with Joel Klatt
a little bit later in this hour. Joel Clatt calling

(01:22:41):
Minnesota at Ohio State, the game that he will have
this weekend. He's going to join us from Columbus Ohio
later in this hour. But the big storyline to me,
as everybody wakes up across the country and we start
off our Friday, is what happened in New York Lass
Night with the Eagles going on the road and getting

(01:23:03):
a big win over to the Giants thirty four to thirteen.
Several things that came out of that story and out
of that game that I think will continue to spiral
forward a court cross the NFL season. First of all,
the Eagles demonstrated that they are still the defending world
champions and that they are the favorites to win the

(01:23:25):
NFC East even though they're only three and three. That
was a dominant performance from Carson Wentz from that Eagles offense,
everything about it was absolutely sterling. They put together a
big win with their backs against the proverbial wall. So
if you're an Eagles fan, I think you have to
be happy. Even though you played six weeks, you're sitting

(01:23:47):
at three and three. Your chances to win the NFC
E seemed to me to be very good based on
what I saw last night. The bigger story coming out
of last night, however, I believe, is the dumpster fire
that is New York Giants, And in particular, I think
the Giants have to make several decisions. I'm gonna break
them down in a three part analysis here. One, Eli

(01:24:10):
Manning is done with the New York Giants. It is
time to figure out how to end the Eli era.
He won two Super Bowls. He has done phenomenally well.
He is not the answer, it doesn't appear to me
going forward for the New York Giants. Two. Se Kwon
Barkley is the best offensive playmaker on the Giants. Last night,

(01:24:31):
eleven catches for ninety nine yards, thirteen carries a hundred
and thirty yards, the best runner and the best receiver,
and you can argue that he didn't get the ball
enough with all of the touches that he got. First
player just about ever to go over a hundred yards
from scrimmage in his first six games in the NFL.
This guy is the real deal. Three Odell Beckham Jr.

(01:24:54):
Leaving the field with one second left unacceptable in the
first half. Odell Beckham j Your behavior and antics on
the sideline in general unacceptable. If I were the Giants
and my thought is that Eli has done and sa
Kwan Barkley is my best offensive playmaker, what I would
do is put O'Dell Beckham Jr. On the market. This

(01:25:14):
is not Monday Morning Quarterbacking, ain't Friday Morning Quarterbacking. If
you listen to this show regularly, you know I said
money makes you more of what you already are. O'Dell
Beckham Jr. Has had way too much money invested in
him relative to his behavior. He is not a leader
like the leader that I want my team to have.

(01:25:36):
And so if I'm going to be drafting a rookie quarterback,
as I believe the Giants are likely to be doing
this fall basically acknowledging that they are not close to
winning the Super Bowl. I think the Giants come May
of next year, will be drafting a quarterback. Do you
want your young quarterback to have to deal with Odell
Beckham Jr. In that locker room? I don't. I want

(01:25:58):
to build around Sat Kwan Barkley and whoever my new
young drafted rookie quarterback is. You're a couple of years
away from contending probably, And so if I am the Giants,
I am right now this morning fielding calls from teams
that believe they can contend for a championship to see
what they will give me for Odell Beckham Jr. Freeze

(01:26:20):
up a ton of your salary, cap space and everything else.
I would make that move. Paul Paps wanted to weigh
in on our interview an hour too uh last hour.
Now he's with us right now, Dan Patrick Show is
gonna be up next, Paul Paps? What you got for me?
You guys should be really proud of yourself. That's a
great booking for your staff to get him to leave
where he was hunting for the tiger and go ten

(01:26:40):
kilometers to a sat phone. Good job Danny g and
the crew to play perfect questions. You went through everything
you thought out about his family history. I mean, they
worked for the government and they they've been tiger killers.
The son's gonna take over. I'm curious if you guys
are gonna look at him kind of like we would
look at the NFL quarterbacks if he takes down this tiger,
does a retire? Did he come for another year? You know?

(01:27:01):
What did he think about his legacy? I think there's
a lot to break down here over the next fole weeks.
But the most important thing tell you guys to go
back and when the type says when this is all over,
I'm gonna come in the studio and we'll do a
show together, you kind of went, oh oh h. You
had an outer boat body moment that I almost drove
into a ditch. You've got to just play that cut
over and over. I am so excited about getting that

(01:27:24):
guy in studio to tell his stories. And by the way,
are you stunned that that's not a movie? I mean,
I feel like when I finished that interview with him,
I felt like I should get on a plane to
India and go into the tiger hunting camp and just
write a book about this tiger hunt. Look you're out now,
lay a lot these days and start networking, start putting
together a one page You guys, you already have a
connection with the main source of the story, so you

(01:27:46):
don't have to buy the rights. This is on a
t for you, Amen, Paul Paps. I appreciate the time.
Who got on Dan Patrick today? We have hope. I
can't even remember. We're gonna John Small to get ready
for the playoffs. Oh that's perfect call. Uh, Paul Paps,
go follow him. Go what listen to the Dan Patrick Show,
as many of you will be doing after this show
is over there on in a little bit less than

(01:28:07):
an hour. Good stuff, Paul, Paps. Have a good weekend. Uh.
Enjoy Vermont. I love all the pictures from Vermont. You're
the best advertiser there is for the state. Uh, for
the state of Vermont. Let me bring in Jason Whitlock. Uh,
Jason Whitlock on with us yesterday. Big news here, breaking news.
Do we have the breaking news sounder? Oh that's perfect,

(01:28:27):
it's the Fox News Breaking News Sports. All right, Jason
Whitlock is set sitting in from me. He's gonna be
on lock it In today, in addition to the hour
and a half he's doing on his own show, Speak
for Yourself. He is sitting in for me next week,
and he is gambling on my behalf as a guest
because I can't do the show from London, where I'm
gonna be next week. I'll be doing the radio show.

(01:28:48):
Can't do the TV show, Uh, Jason Whitlock. I want
you to know as we go into Friday, I am
in the lead to win, but I'm gonna be honest
with you. If I lose this week and then you
step in and win, I might get wally pipped. I
don't know what I feel about you stepping in for
me here not gonna happen, Clay. As much as I
joke with you about your blood bank picks or I

(01:29:10):
am the worst gambler uh that I know, And so
I hope that when you come back for your vacation
you're not upset with me because I've blown all your
money and made you look like a clown. But I'm
a terrible gambler. I lead with my heart constantly. I
bet what I want to happen rather than what I

(01:29:32):
believe is gonna happen. So I don't think there's any
pressure at all on you about getting Wally pipped. I
just hope you have some money when you get back. Uh,
here's the deal. Your show, speak for yourself, is starting
to show really really good momentum. I watch it every
day with you and Marcelis. Our show is starting to
get pretty good momentum. You now are the lynch pin

(01:29:55):
between the two shows, because for all of next week
you will be doing two and a half hours rate
of television. Here's the big question. Do you have the
physical fortitude and testicular stamina to manage two two and
a half hours of straight television? Now? On this front,
I am the gold standard and that this could be

(01:30:15):
a problem for you. Now I'll be a bad gambler,
but the ratings will be through the roof. Unlock it in,
and that may cost you your job. Just how good
and how much better I'll be on the show than you. Uh,
you know, trust me. Once Cousin Style Ty Firm and
Rachel Bonnetta work with me, they'll want nothing to do

(01:30:36):
with you. I'm a little bit afraid of that. I'm
a little bit afraid of that. Be sure speaking about
wanting anything to do with you, do you think the
Giant should want anything to do with Odell Beckham Jr.
After what we saw last night. I said, I listened
to your rant there, and I do agree with you
that it's crystal clear. Sae Kwon Barkley is their best player,

(01:30:58):
and hell, he may be the best player in football
other than a quarterback who knows uh. And and so
I think what's hard and if you listen to Troy
and Joe Buck talk about how charismatic can just his
leadership qualities and and what a great person, say Quanti is,
and then contrast that with Odell. And to have your

(01:31:21):
highest paid player and your franchise player be a guy
that has no leadership skills at all, that's a problem.
He's a poison in your locker room. The guy that
has made the most money, uh, is a problem in
your locker room. And look, look, people didn't even talk
about it last week. He must that punt against Carolina

(01:31:43):
and cost him a touchdown. He muffed a punt yesterday
last night. He recovered and everything. But Odell is as
much as everyone all. He had his best game last
week now he actually had some problems that cost some points.
I just don't know if he's worth all the money
you have invested in because I'm just not sure Odell

(01:32:03):
Beckham Jr. Is a winner. He's a productive wide receiver,
but I just don't think he's a winner. That's the
problem for the New York Giants, and that would be
why I might move on from him. You're let's pretend
you're in that huddle on the offensive line for the Giants.
Don't put me on the offensive for the Giants. Is
the worst thing I've ever seen in my life. Odell

(01:32:27):
Beckham Jr. Does not come out for that final play,
They're gonna say, oh, he had to go in and
get an IVY, which is basically code to cover up
for the fact that he walked off the field before
his team was ready for him. Does that impact you are?
Are you angry that he wasn't out there on the
field of battle, so to speak? For that final play?
Depends on my relationship with him, you know previously, and

(01:32:49):
I would imagine it's not good. Just say, the guys
just too much drama. Hey man, we're just trying to
conduct work here. We're just trying to build a team here,
and there's always some than going on with you, and
this is just another piece to that puzzle. And so yeah,
it would bother me. It would just you know, O'Dell

(01:33:09):
thinks he's better than everybody else. He's not a part
of that team. And I listen, when you live, you know,
fifty one years like I have, or even forty years
or you know, thirty eight years like yourself, you're gonna
be in some work situations that are not ideal. And
you have when that red light comes on or it's

(01:33:30):
time to go to work, it can't be. Hey, I'm
better than everybody else around me, and so let me
throw everybody else under a bus and and and point
the finger at them. That's just not good. Those other guys,
guys on the offensive line, just the other receivers running back,
they're human beings as well. Uh, there's way too much

(01:33:52):
finger pointing from O'Dell sitting down doing that interview with
Little Wayne and just pointing the finger at everybody else
and that and not matching my level of production. And
I can't live up to my ability because of Eli
and the officeive line, everybody. It's just the wrong play man.
They gave you a bunch of money to elevate everybody

(01:34:15):
else on the team, not uh not point a finger
at the rest of the team and say they're not
as good as you. It's just bad leadership. It's it's
low character when you see a guy like say Kwan Barkley,
who I think is the best offensive player on the
Giants right now, trying to calm Odell Beckham Junior down

(01:34:35):
on the sideline, your rookie. You're twenty one year old,
and I know that O'Dell Beckham Jr. Is still young
years old himself, but to me, that was an emblematic
moment for where the Giants are headed and if they
are going to move on from Eli, which I think
it seems likely they are. Do you want a rookie
quarterback having to deal with Odell Beckham Junior? Part one

(01:34:57):
of this question and part two is O'Dell in danger
of t owing himself where he's an incredible talent, a
Hall of Fame talent, but he just doesn't have the
ability to work with others. And ultimately, if you're a receiver,
that's a pretty big part of your overall job is
to figure out a way to fit in on the

(01:35:17):
offense and have a great relationship with your quarterback. Too
early to te o himself. But but what I do
think could potentially happen in this I think coaches executives
around the league may start going, hey, man, these extra

(01:35:38):
diva wide receivers Antonio Brown, Odell Beckham Jr. It's they
put up great numbers, but I don't know if they're
essential to winning. Tom Brady has been winning with whoever
you throw out their receiver for a long time. Uh,
And so I think with what Say Barkley did last

(01:36:00):
what I see from Todd Gurley and some of the
other running backs around the league, I think there's gonna
be a resurgence seeing in the value in running backs,
and particularly if you can get a guy like say
Kwan Barkley. Because the Giants actually last night basically quit
calling plays and they just said, hey, how can we

(01:36:22):
get the ball to say Kwan as quickly as possible
and then we'll drive trainese and pray that he breaks
eleven tackles and makes a play. And the kid is
actually that talented that he could do that. And so
I just think O'Dell is diminishing the value of the
wide receiver and diminishing the value of himself, and teams
will say, you know, well, there will be teams interested

(01:36:45):
in him, but they'll be like, at that price, this
guy makes nearly twenty million bucks a year, or does
make twenty million bucks a year at that price, is
he worth it? I'm just not sure. And if I
were wide receivers around the league, and particularly you know,
I think Julio Jones just fine and uh, but if
our receivers around the league, I would be concerned that

(01:37:07):
O'Dell is diminishing our position. Outstanding stuff as always, Jason
Whitlock can't wait to have you sit in for me
next week. I appreciate you being willing to do it.

(01:40:56):
by Texas Tech. Ohio State's resume right now. Beat Oregon State,
They're awful. Beat Rutgers, They're awful. Beat TCU they're three
and three. Beat two Lane they're bad. Beat Ohio State goodwin,
beat Indiana, they ain't good. Why is that not almost
identical to Alabama's resume? Through six? Alabama beat one good

(01:41:19):
team Texas A and M. They beat one team Old Miss,
which is basically the equivalent of TCU. In fact, Old
Miss beat the team that beat TCU by twenty has
an Ohio State not played anybody too well other than
the Penn State deal. I think Penn State is is
significantly better than than Texas A and M. You might
disagree with me, but in particular in that setting on

(01:41:41):
the road, UH, and A and M was at Alabama.
So but you're the premise of your point is is correct.
I think that Ohio State's resume is beginning to look
weaker than what we thought it was, uh looking after
let's say they beat tc U UH that week. Um,
but yeah, I do think it's still better than Alabamas,
but not by much. Um. Listen, and here's the deal, Clay,

(01:42:05):
I'll call balls and strikes with you. You know I'm not.
I'm not a homer. I don't feel like I am. Um,
I think you probably are for the SEC. Look, there's
there's there's no doubt. Let me let me say that
I think you are the best at what you and
I have known each other for a long time. I
told you this years ago. I said, Joel, you have

(01:42:26):
got an unbelievable opportunity. You are going to be, assuming
that both of us live long enough. In thirty years,
people are going to talk about Joel class like they
talk about Brent Musburger, like they talk about um, all
of those guys. Verne Lundquist, maybe it's forty years for that.
You have the opportunity and herb streets doing this too,

(01:42:46):
to submit yourselves as like the faces of college football
because you're so good at what you do. And I
say that on the air for everybody to hear, but
it's something that I would also have said to you
before privately, like you are insanely good at what you do.
Um and uh, and I am more biased than you are,
There's no doubt I'm I'm in the tank for the SEC.
I think the SEC is the best. But I do

(01:43:07):
think that Alabama this year has been so good that
there is a certain segment of the population out there
that's just like, oh Alabama hasn't played anybody, And I
just think Ohio State has been pretty good too. If
you actually look at the Ohio State in Alabama resumes,
they're almost identical through six games, except Alabama has dominated
everybody on their schedule. We can quibble about how good

(01:43:29):
Texas A and M is relative depends state everything else,
but these resumes are pretty similar, right, they are similar.
I would again, I would give the nod to Ohio
State because the quality team that they beat is one
a top ten team right now, and they did that
on the road. And and A and M is not

(01:43:50):
that type of the resume builder for Alabama. So there
is still a a a significant you know, notch above
because of that. Um. But but you're right, and and
I think that that both of those teams are really
good teams, but Bama has been on a different level.
And I will and i've you know, I'll do this

(01:44:10):
both privately and on other shows, namely Lock It In.
You know, if Mamma runs the table, they're they're staring
squarely in the face of being talked about is one
of the best two three teams ever? Um that. So yeah,
I mean that they're on that type of a run
and they are going to get looked at as if
their resume is weak because they're beating people by an

(01:44:30):
average of forty points right now. Forty points, which is insane. Uh.
And what Toa is doing right now is just it's incredible.
I haven't I haven't seen anything quite like this, uh
from him. Their ability to now be an offense that
is similar to what an Oklahoma throws out there with
quick strike ability, the ability to put up monster yards

(01:44:53):
and points in in in a quick fashion. It's scary
how good that they could potentially be. I think the
only thing now that's a concern for Alabama is the
fact that they're getting injured and and you know that secondary.
I think coming in for the first time in Saban's tenure,
the defense was gonna be more of the question mark

(01:45:14):
than the offense. And I'm not saying it was gonna
be bad and not not not a terrible question mark,
but the unit that was maybe not quite as dominant.
And now you've got some injuries on that side of
the ball, and so I think that's partly a concern
or part of the concern moving forward. But it's not
like a lot of teams on their schedule are going
to be able to take advantage of them with their offense,

(01:45:34):
you know. I mean L s U and Auburn right
now are are not very good offensively. Um their defenses
are outstanding, outstanding in particular L s U S, but
they're not gonna be able to take advantage of of
Alabama's defense because they're just not explosive enough on the
offensive side to a stats for you, And I want
to get just your thoughts as a quarterback, and I

(01:45:55):
want you to compare him to Dwayne Haskins, which who
is also probably the second best quarterback in the end FL,
I mean, in college football so far to a seventy
five two completion percentage. He has eighteen touchdowns versus only
twenty five interceptions. He hasn't played in the fourth quarter
this year, so he's not like, yeah, what did I say?
Oh god, yeah, that would not be very good. Yeah,

(01:46:16):
he's only got twenty five in completions versus eighteen touchdowns.
He has not played in the fourth quarter this year. Um,
which is an amazing stat. He's played a lot, not
even hardly on on the field. He leads the NFL,
UH leads to college football and falling apart here in
the final and trying to run through his stats in
UH total quarterback efficiency and everything else, and Joel, this

(01:46:38):
is a stat that sp Nation tracked down everybody who
has won the Heisman Trophy in the last twenty years,
if you take the best six games they played during
their Heisman Trophy campaigns. That's r G three. That's Cam Newton,
that's Tim Tebow, that is UH, that is Baker Mayfield,
that is every Marcus Mariotta, everybody who has been such
an incredible quarterback and won the Heisman Trophy in the

(01:46:59):
last only years. None of them come close to what
Tua has done in the first six games of this season.
That's how good he's been historically, maybe the best six
games any quarterback has ever had. Can he get better?
Is my question? Will he regress? And how does he
compare to Haskins based on your experience watching both these guys, Yeah,

(01:47:20):
tah To has played the best of anybody in the country,
and I think by maybe not a significant but a
wide margin play because Haskins has been really good as well.
I think that his portous playing was in the toughest environment.
Um And part of the deal in today's college football
is that colleges and to some extent the NFL, but

(01:47:42):
I think it more so in college football, they have
an ability to get into the perfect play all the time.
You know, every single snap, do you see them checking
their getting into place to take advantage of the defensive
look um and and oh State was unable to do
that against Penn State, which is part of the reason
they started to struggle in those first three quarters. But

(01:48:03):
the fourth quarter for Haskins was really good. But what
what he's looking up at is a guy that, like
you said, is is playing historically good. Now, if I'm
voting for the Heisman Trophy right now, it's an easy
number one vote for two a tug of violoa. I
don't know what's gonna happen, right I mean, you never

(01:48:23):
know about health, You never know about just you come
out and all of a sudden you throw four picks
one day and just don't have it. I don't assume
that that's gonna happen just because of how well he's
been playing this season. But you just never know. But
right now, this guy is is as much of a
uh showing for that trophy is you can have in

(01:48:45):
the middle of October. What this is The only part
that I would say is at the end of the year,
he better have these style numbers if he never plays
in the fourth quarter, because because because remember, voters tend
to vote for moments, not necessarily just like a bulk
of statistics, they will vote for a bulk of statistics

(01:49:07):
and and he'll probably win. But if if all of
a sudden, you've got a guy with comparable numbers that
has had incredible moments in particular and fourth quarters and
in particular in November, then it could get I get
I guess a little bit closer, but that would be
one of the only things I'm concerned for Alabama four

(01:49:28):
and two A four is the fact that he is
in a baseball had in the fourth quarter almost every
week Big Twelve. Last night, Texas Tech goes on the
road and gets a big win against TCU. We saw Texas.
You called this game beat Oklahoma an incredible game to
watch down there, and by the way, the pregame show
from the from the State Fair was incredible. I watched that.

(01:49:51):
You guys did a fantastic job there. I thought it
really kind of brought home the atmosphere and set the
tone in a really good way for that game, which
had a massive audience. What's going to happen in the
Big Twelve? How would you assess the conference at the
halfway point? Well, if you're if you're in the tank
for the Big Twelve, or if you're the Big Twelve commissioner,

(01:50:11):
I think you probably would have rather Oklahoma won that
game because they're just their path is always going to
be easier. Maybe not always, but this year is going
to be easier to to the playoff because that's an
easier sell. Right, Murray is doing exceptional things at quarterback.
They were just in the playoff. Um, it's they've been

(01:50:31):
a dominant team over the last three or four seasons. Um,
So that would be an easier end to the college
football playoff. Now Texas wins, Now you've got to get
them to the finish line. And they still have this
loss to Maryland that is gonna look atrocious at the
end of the season. So it's a it's a bad

(01:50:52):
deal for the conference. But having said that, what they
have been in desperate need of, just overall from an
overarching structure of the conference is for Texas to be relevant.
For a decade. They have not been relevant, and now
all of a sudden that they are. I would say
they're in control of this conference. There in the driver's
seat of this conference, in particular when you're talking about

(01:51:12):
just getting to that Big Twelve championship game. But now
I think it's the easiest two conferences to to leave
out of the playoff right now are the Pack twelve
and the Big Twelve. And namely because now you've got
the what I would say is the prime brand on
the field, Oklahoma. The Big Twelve is behind the eight
ball when it comes to win in the conference. Alright,

(01:51:33):
Pack twelve, I want to close out with you in
this game. You just mentioned that they're in a rough spot.
Washington loses to Auburn to start the season, it looks
like Auburn is gonna go eight and four ish, which
means that's not gonna look like a great loss at
the end of the year when you look at Washington
against Oregon. Oregon couldn't close out Stanford. Can they beat Washington?

(01:51:54):
What happens in that game up at Oregon? So I
think it's gonna be tough for Washington. And you know
what's so rare, so rare, and and this is not
a shot that at the SEC because Oklahoma has not
played back to back road games on consecutive weeks since
two thousand and eleven. Alabama's only played one, uh instance
of back to back road games on consecutive weeks. All

(01:52:16):
of a sudden, Washington has that right now. Now you
might be saying like, well, it was just at u
c l A, who hasn't won a game last week,
and now they're at Oregon. Yeah, I understand that, but
traveling back to back weeks for college kids. Is just tough.
It just is. You saw that basically rear it's ugly
head at Stanford earlier this year when they went at
Oregon then at Notre Dame and they just totally lost

(01:52:38):
all sorts of steam in the second half, ended up
getting hammered by Notre Dame. Um. And so Washington goes
and plays a one possession game against U C. L A.
They have struggled offensively a little bit. Now they've got
to go to Oregon and face what I would consider
the top pick in the NFL draft next year. And
justin Herbert and Oregon's off of by Clay, I think
Oregon wins the game. I really do. And and Oregon

(01:53:01):
is a really good football team there there right now
eleven and three, and Herbert starts, and and for my money,
they're probably the best team in that division, namely because
they should have beaten Stanford. They were almost going up
what was at one seven, Then all of a sudden
they get the phone ball, it gets returned, and then
they kind of lose uh their momentum and get beat.

(01:53:22):
It's a bad loss when you look at it from
that perspective. But I think Oregan is gonna beat Washington,
and that's gonna further cement the fact that that conference
is not getting into the playoff for the second straight year,
and and candidly, they're not even gonna be close to
the playoffs. You're gonna be talking about teams like Notre Dame, UCF, Clemson,
maybe Michigan if they were to win the Big Ten

(01:53:43):
with one loss, maybe Texas Oklahoma, way before you would
talk about a Pack twelve champion. Joel, my man, we'll
talk to you next week. I appreciate the time, enjoy
watching where we'll be watching that Ohio State Minnesota game.
