We'll talk a little bit about that.
Speaker 6 (01:35):
Aj Brown, Yeah, you know, he had the book on
the sideline. It's an old story, but it kind of
has new possible implications.
Speaker 5 (01:46):
We'll get to that. We'll talk about that. We got
a lot to get to. But first before we.
Speaker 3 (01:51):
Get into this first conversation that we had, got to ask, man,
how you feeling, brouh How you doing? Man?
Speaker 4 (01:58):
I'm feeling good.
Speaker 3 (01:59):
Man.
Speaker 5 (01:59):
You know, it's not really clear skies out here. It's
a little overcast this early in the morning. You know, Ben,
a little chili out here, man, been about fifty five
in the morning, get into about seventy three, seventy four.
But you know, it ain't something that we can't manage
a little bit, just a little chilli. Look, chili, what
what type of weather you dealing with? Is your chili
(02:19):
the same chilli?
Speaker 3 (02:22):
Man? All chili is about to get real chili.
Speaker 7 (02:27):
Man.
Speaker 1 (02:27):
We are expecting about four to six inches of snowing
about another hour. So it's supposed to snow until Monday.
So we are hunkering down. Got the Five Place, lits
very nice, and uh, you know, hit that grocery store
just in case you can't get outside. You got a
bowl of bowl of soups and ramen noodles or something.
Speaker 6 (02:49):
I would say that's cold people weather stuff, but with
everything we got going on out here, I guess that'd
be relevant as well. I mean, even half something shouts
out to all the families and thought some prayers. Saw
everyone who's been impacted by these fires been kind of
crazy fellas speaking of fire. Is their smoke? Is there fire?
(03:10):
Where this smoke is?
Speaker 3 (03:11):
Listen.
Speaker 6 (03:12):
I was doing my prep work on the show this
weekend so that, you know, I could.
Speaker 5 (03:18):
Bring to the table. What we all do is bring
good topics to the table.
Speaker 6 (03:22):
And I found an interesting archived interview or statement from
one Pittsburgh Steeler great Terry Bradshaw. Now this I believe
was eight years ago and it was on Jason Whitlock's show,
Speak for Yourself, and Terry Bradshaw had this to say
about coach Mike Tomlin.
Speaker 8 (03:42):
Yeah, I don't think he's a great coach at all,
he's a nice coach and he's a to me. And
I've said this, I said, he's really a great cheerleader guy.
I don't know what he does, but I don't think
that he's a great coach at all. Even his name
never pops in my mind when we think about great
k coaches in the NFL.
Speaker 6 (04:04):
Now, I will say that's a tad bit extreme.
Speaker 3 (04:09):
I mean, that's eight years ago.
Speaker 6 (04:10):
Obviously, he has continued to accomplish on a high level
in terms of not having a losing season.
Speaker 3 (04:18):
But you get to a point in.
Speaker 6 (04:20):
Time where not having a losing season, okay, you can
lean on that, but they continue to go out in
the first round of the playoffs or end up finishing
the seasons out pretty slowly.
Speaker 3 (04:34):
The offenses have not been what they've needed to be.
Speaker 6 (04:37):
It's been pretty offensive for quite some time, the whole
Canada or deal. Then you start to take a deeper
look at this team. You have the same issues playing
out with your top receiver. This is now a second
generation of malcontent number one receiver for the team.
Speaker 3 (04:58):
You don't have a quarterback.
Speaker 6 (05:00):
It doesn't seem as though that's been resolved in terms
of who your quarterback will be.
Speaker 3 (05:05):
And now the.
Speaker 6 (05:05):
Defense isn't as good as they have been, and there
has been a lot of questions in the media about
is it time for a fresh start for Pittsburgh?
Speaker 3 (05:17):
Is it time for a fresh start for Mike Tomlin.
Speaker 6 (05:20):
As you heard in the media, Chicago has requested to
interview on Pittsburgh. Didn't want to have any parts of it.
But Fellas and Ples, you were in the locker room,
so you may know this better than I do. But
I do believe us having a conversation at one point
about the culture of the Pittsburgh Steelers and maybe how
it's maybe eroded through the years. I think Ben Roethlisberger
(05:42):
maybe brought drew attention to it or whatever. Is there
something there with the idea that maybe the raw raw
coach coaches that Mike Tomlin does has maybe run its
course in Pittsburgh.
Speaker 1 (05:56):
I don't believe he's run its course, but you're looking
at this roster and every since Ben Roethlisberger has left
his football team, he kind of seems like the culture
of the Pittsburgh Steelers has left because he was basically
one of the last of the Mohicans of this culture
that we.
Speaker 3 (06:16):
Had in Pittsburgh when I was there.
Speaker 1 (06:18):
I got there in twenty five years ago, and it
just kind of seems that, you know, this new generation
of player, the model for the Pittsburgh steel is the
standard as a standard, and I don't believe that no longer,
you know, translates into the young players you know in
(06:38):
his locker room. And I had the opportunity to play
for Mike Tomlin for two years in two thousand and
twelve and thirteen, and I would totally disagree with everything
that Terry Bradshaw has to say. I think he's a
very intelligent, motivating, you know, football coach. But when you
look at the coach of this team where they are now.
(07:01):
They lost to the Baltimore Ravens. Uh, nobody really expected
for them to go into Baltimore and to win that
football game. And everybody, you know, does Mike Tomlin need
to start? Uh? You know, I would say yeah, I
really would, But think about the Pittsburgh Stillers have had
(07:24):
four coaches in the land.
Speaker 9 (07:25):
What is that?
Speaker 3 (07:26):
But what does that represent? What is that? What is it? Yes,
he needs a new start, what does that represent him leaving?
Speaker 4 (07:32):
Uh?
Speaker 3 (07:33):
Where do you begin?
Speaker 9 (07:34):
Like?
Speaker 1 (07:34):
Where do you start? Look at look at this draw
Steel and the football team. Cam Hayward is what he's.
Speaker 3 (07:39):
Thirty five years old.
Speaker 4 (07:41):
T J.
Speaker 1 (07:42):
Watt is getting a year old and you no longer
have franchise quarterbacking.
Speaker 3 (07:48):
That is one of the issues that they have dealt with.
Speaker 1 (07:50):
And one of the things that the Pittsburgh Stillers have
been able to do over time is scout and find
Jim in the draft, third, fourth, fifth, sixth round, whatever
may be. And that has not been That has not
been the case over the last you know, ten years
or so. But for Mike Tomlin, I think he's one
(08:12):
of the best coaches in all the ball never had
a losing season. But when you say that, you know
your hanging your hat, will never have a losing season,
it's not enough anymore. Enough and that is that that's
the craziest thing about him and what's going on in
the NFL. Havn't winning seasons is not enough anymore. You
(08:37):
have to be able to get to a championship, but
win a championship, and with the current team, will state
that he had look at the rosters that he's had
and he's been been able to have all these winning seasons.
Speaker 4 (08:48):
I think he needs a fresh start.
Speaker 1 (08:50):
I have no idea where it's going to be, But
where do you begin to start over?
Speaker 3 (08:56):
If you'll the Pittsburgh Steelers DJ Man.
Speaker 5 (09:01):
Sometimes people underestimate just being comfortable. He's comfortable there, man.
And I'm gonna tell you what. If I'm Mike Tomlin,
I'm not letting no team trade for me. Why would
I let you trade for me and give up assets
that I'm a need to win. That's not happening. You're
(09:24):
not trading for me. We need those assets. And so
the Steelers aren't positioned to win, and it sucks because
they are in a division with Lamar Jackson, Joe Burrow
who did make the playoffs, and the Cleveland Browns that
have a defense that's really really good. They are quarterback away.
(09:49):
That sounds like Pittsburgh defense that's really really good. It's
a quarterback away. They allocate, but they allocate their money
on the defensive side of the ball. TJ Wide, I believe,
is making twenty seven a year. They just just gave
Cam Hayward a stink extension. Mika Fitzpatrick makes a lot
(10:10):
of money. Hei Smith has a good deal. They allocate
that when you go to the offensive side, of the
ball at every position. I don't think you can name
a guy that's top ten paid to this position across
the offense.
Speaker 4 (10:27):
Top ten.
Speaker 5 (10:27):
I just say top five, top ten, not one receiver.
But it's always been that way to Jay, not what
big Ben was there. Not what big Ben was there. Oh,
that's why they paid quarterback. That's why Plexico laughed. Allen
Fanica was getting some money, like they would allocate money
on all They don't even have that on the offensive line. Well,
that's true. Pouncy got paid too. I mean, there are
(10:49):
some guys Bounty would get paid. That's what I'm saying
on the offensive line. But as far as receivers, they
did not play pay receivers. They paid Ab. They paid Ab.
He just wanted more. The Steelers were proactive. They would
get guys when they knew they was going to be
stars in over Pam and then in the year they
were underpaid.
Speaker 6 (11:08):
To me, I mean, they did pay Le'Veon Bell too,
even though he didn't think it was enough either.
Speaker 5 (11:13):
It's more of what's your alternative, and the alternative is
alternative is the unknown. I'm comfortable that's what I really see.
Speaker 3 (11:24):
What does that mean to you? J?
Speaker 6 (11:25):
Like, for for Mike Tomlin to feel comfortable and be comfortable,
what does that mean? Because comfortable in the NFL that
doesn't equate, that doesn't.
Speaker 5 (11:34):
You know, No, it does not compute. It doesn't him
being comfortable does not mean it's okay. Okay, But sometimes
some people just don't like change, you know, they fear
the unknown.
Speaker 3 (11:47):
Do you think he needs to change? Like, do you
think he needs to leave?
Speaker 4 (11:50):
No? I don't think he needs to leave change.
Speaker 3 (11:52):
He needs to take place internally.
Speaker 5 (11:54):
I truly believe if you give Mike Tomlin a top
twelve quarterback, he did work, he do well.
Speaker 4 (12:03):
They draft Kenny Pickett.
Speaker 5 (12:04):
How many people dark counting how many people thought Kenny
Pickett was the first round pick the Steelers, And so
he went to pit He's played in this stadium, and
so the league is so censored around a quarterback.
Speaker 4 (12:20):
You can't touch them. You can't hit him low, you
can't hit him high.
Speaker 5 (12:24):
You go to swipe the ball out his hand, you
hit him in a helmet Disapenityuh.
Speaker 4 (12:29):
But I mean there's so many things.
Speaker 1 (12:32):
But look at how the Pittsburgh Seals have always drafted.
I was the highest draft pick of the in Pittsburgh
still in history.
Speaker 4 (12:40):
And so they're talking about that. They're always so.
Speaker 3 (12:45):
You draft of Ben Roethlisberger.
Speaker 1 (12:48):
Nobody knew that Ben Roethlisberger was going to be who
he was.
Speaker 4 (12:52):
No, he was even Mimi of Ohio.
Speaker 1 (12:55):
Look at look at Antonio Brown, fourth round pick one,
Central Michigan.
Speaker 4 (12:59):
Look at me. I think he was sixth round. He
was sixth round.
Speaker 5 (13:02):
Either way, it's a long way.
Speaker 1 (13:06):
Fine gym is not in the draft and they become
who they are.
Speaker 5 (13:10):
Well, they better go find another gym and quarterback because
since Big Ben retired that they've been swinging and missing
because they they built these players up over time.
Speaker 4 (13:22):
That's what happens.
Speaker 6 (13:23):
Pittsburgh has always built their players up through time. They've
always done it. Yes, you don't have that luxury anymore.
Speaker 4 (13:30):
You don't have the luxury anymore.
Speaker 3 (13:31):
You don't have that luxury anymore. Is that is that?
Speaker 4 (13:34):
That?
Speaker 6 (13:34):
Is that the death of But is that the death
of a franchise because that has one hundred build away
Pittsburgh has built.
Speaker 5 (13:40):
You guys are talking now the dinosaur age, and it's
not that far back. What I'm saying is the defenses
were able to control games back then.
Speaker 6 (13:52):
But the defense has always had guys waiting, like you
had a Jason Gilden or James person.
Speaker 3 (13:58):
They were always waiting to play.
Speaker 5 (14:00):
Somebody else is different. The game is not based on defense,
is based on what I'm saying.
Speaker 6 (14:06):
What I'm saying is is what that adjustment like you're
you're saying of the stone age that has always been
how Pittsburgh has stayed strong and relevant is getting those
gyms in the draft.
Speaker 3 (14:17):
They sit, they might.
Speaker 6 (14:18):
Even cut those gyms, They bring them back and they
end up being You've got to get.
Speaker 5 (14:24):
Those gyms on offense because back then you could single
handedly advance through the playoffs if your defense was dominant
and you just made a player two on offense. I mean,
look at look at the Super Bowl in two thousand
and six when they won that defense led them. The
defense led them. They beat us in the playoffs, and
(14:45):
so it's no longer defense dominant. You have to have
a prolific offense. That's why they're they're still building the
way they've always built. The game has changed. You look
at the quarterbacks that are left in the playoffs that
will kick off here shortly or just this weekend.
Speaker 4 (15:09):
Look at those quarterbacks.
Speaker 3 (15:11):
Bad boys, And that's what I'm saying, bad boys.
Speaker 5 (15:15):
Outside of Jalen Hurts, all these dudes was drafted in
the first round High High el Lamar Jackson was the last.
Speaker 1 (15:22):
Pick in the first Also, when you're winning, you have
a winning brand of football, you don't have that opportunity
to get guys.
Speaker 3 (15:30):
Behind the draft.
Speaker 4 (15:31):
You don't. You know what you got to do. You
know what you got to do. You're comfortable, you got
to get uncomfortable. Hey, I don't know if you guys
remember this.
Speaker 1 (15:39):
You remember this when when Washington played in Pittsburgh and
it was Chase Young's first year and Chase Young came
to the sideline and him and Mike Tomlin had a conversation.
He said, hey, coach man, it's nice to meet you.
And Mike Thomas said, man, you're a hell of a
player Chase and Chase Young said, he said, thank you, coach.
(16:01):
Mike Tomlin said, you know what, you're a hell of
a player. But I don't never want to be in
a situation as a coach to be able to be
able to have to draft you.
Speaker 3 (16:11):
Yeah, that coming because he was a number two pick
in the draft. That's right, I remember that. Hey, listen,
I listen.
Speaker 6 (16:20):
I don't know if it's time for him to go
or if he stays, but a winning season is no
justification anymore.
Speaker 3 (16:27):
As well, you gotta move on.
Speaker 5 (16:29):
You need to move an asset on defense so you
can get what you need to be super competitive on offense. Uh,
you they have one guy, they got to Minka and TTJ.
You move one of them, like I'm not this year.
I don't know if many believe there's a true franchise
(16:50):
quarterback in this draft, but you gonna have to move
one of your defensive players so that you can pick
where you've never picked before. And until you do it,
you will be in this position every single year.
Speaker 3 (17:05):
That ain't happening. Well, I'll tell you what I think
it becomes.
Speaker 6 (17:09):
Really really, it's going to probably continue to be an
interesting conversation because I don't see in the near future,
Fellas this roster the way it looks right now. I
don't see anybody transforming it, just one player transforming what
this team will look like moving into the future. I mean,
they do have some good, good weapons. You got Friar movie.
I mean, when Pickens wants to play, you know, he's
(17:32):
a top type of guy. You do have players and
assets on the defense side of the ball, it just
doesn't seem like it's a team that might carry them
to the next level.
Speaker 3 (17:40):
And then now that brings up.
Speaker 6 (17:41):
The question of how much time does Mike Tomlin have
to try to rebuild a team to be a championship
caliber team is a very competitive AFC North. We'll see
how it all plays out. I don't know that we
came to a conclusion. It's interesting. I don't know if
Mike Tomlin should stay or go. Doesn't sound like the
fellas under I don't. I mean, it sounds like y'all
(18:02):
say you should stay.
Speaker 4 (18:03):
I don't know.
Speaker 6 (18:03):
I don't know what the right answer is here. I
just think that it's kind of, you know, you're a
no man's land, as you know Jonas said during the week.
Speaker 3 (18:10):
But we'll see how it all plays out.
Speaker 5 (18:12):
We're gonna move on to conversations about well in il
a quarterback, top quarterback, he's choosing to go in the
draft versus take more nil money to stay at the
college level.
Speaker 3 (18:24):
We'll talk about who that is and how that applies.
This is up on Game Is. Fox Sports Radio will
be right back.

Speaker 3 (18:44):
All right, welcome back in. It is up on game.
Speaker 5 (18:48):
We're live from the Tyrack dot com Studios' Spleux co
versus t J. Hushman's out on LeVar Arrington. We got
a lot to get to. We're gonna touch on the
big time matchup between Philly and those La Rams, but
it has a little bit to do with AJ Brown
(19:08):
in the book.
Speaker 3 (19:09):
I'll tell you more about it when we get there.
Speaker 6 (19:11):
That'll be and maybe about well a few minutes not
too long from now, we'll also get to well the
coaches watch. I think Deon Sanders is probably the one
conversation that will be more focused in on. But before
we get there and get to an update, fellas Queen yours,
he turns down, reportedly an eight million dollar nil deal
(19:35):
offer to go play for another school another year in college.
Speaker 3 (19:40):
Is this the right decision?
Speaker 6 (19:41):
Do you feel like this is the right decision for
a quin yours to forego another year could possibly build
his resume a little bit more, become a little bit
more of a Prize draft prospect. What do you guys say?
Speaker 4 (19:57):
Man, listen, I'm telling you it's funny.
Speaker 3 (20:00):
Man.
Speaker 5 (20:00):
You we're doing this topic because just yesterday, you know,
we start our combine training last week. Man, and I
was talking to some of the quarterbacks out there. I'm
not gonna name him. You know they getting ready for
the draft.
Speaker 4 (20:16):
Man, do you not?
Speaker 5 (20:18):
Do you know if you can get eight million dollars
to play college football and you're not gonna be a
top three pick, you should do it.
Speaker 4 (20:28):
You done lost your mind?
Speaker 3 (20:30):
You should do it.
Speaker 4 (20:31):
You should do it. Boy, I'm trying to stay in
college as long as I can.
Speaker 5 (20:40):
I mean, your draft stock is all the way up.
I mean I would college. I couldn't. I couldn't go
all the way queen yours?
Speaker 1 (20:47):
Is he?
Speaker 5 (20:48):
Is he a surefire first round pick? Just first round pick?
We didn't say and this and this quarterback class. I
would say he definitely. I would say he's a short
shot first rounder. I don't don't know if he's the
top I don't think he's a top first rounder. I
don't know about that.
Speaker 3 (21:02):
He's not sure.
Speaker 1 (21:04):
So where's Quinny? He was drinking on your draft ball?
As far as quarterbacks, are ranked in this draft probably
like fourth.
Speaker 5 (21:11):
Okay, can you go through it real quick to give
me the top four right now? I mean, just give
me the four Chador the kid out of out of Miami.
Who's the who's the other one? There's there's I don't know.
You tell us, I don't know. I'm thinking there's one more.
Speaker 3 (21:29):
I just can't. I'm gonna go get the kid out
of out of Georgia.
Speaker 1 (21:34):
I'm gonna go to your door, Sanders. I'm gonna go
cam Wood. I'm gonna go either back Carson back or
dark old dark dark?
Speaker 4 (21:43):
Who was dark back? Carson back? Smart? He didn't enter
the draft, went to Miami.
Speaker 5 (21:49):
He went to He went to Miami because he's smart. Okay,
he went Jackson Dark dark Darkness? Who I was looking
right now? Jackson Dark is the wild card in this
but that's still fourth. That's still fourth or fifth.
Speaker 4 (22:06):
Take quarterback quarterbacks in the first round.
Speaker 5 (22:08):
If you take four quarterbacks this year in the first round, no, man,
d these owners might as well let me be the
GM because I can do better than that.
Speaker 4 (22:17):
That's a fact. That's a fact.
Speaker 6 (22:20):
Like I'm just saying, in terms of this draft class
of quarterbacks, when is not. Queen Yours is not that
far removed from the top process's.
Speaker 5 (22:29):
Man, Queen Yours had arguably one of the best collections
of talent around him, and like, no, he just no, man, Like,
if you can get eight million dollars, dude, what are
you thinking? What are you I'm starting my clock to
my second contract. Yo, who are you even sure that's gonna.
Speaker 3 (22:52):
Happen for you? Dang?
Speaker 1 (22:55):
So Like so when this whole thing came out, I'm
looking and looking at the projective salary for the first
and second round of you know, players being selected. So
if you're the middle of the first round, like your
total contract is going to top out at a basically
look around thirteen million dollars. Right you're a second round
right here, and his second round pick, you're getting four
(23:18):
year deals in the range of ten million dollars. So
if this young man goes back to college and plays,
he's going to make eight million dollars in reported loudly,
He's not going to make that if he goes into
the draft and if he gets taken in the second
and third round.
Speaker 5 (23:37):
But he's close to that and he's on his way
to his second contract. But it's college though he.
Speaker 1 (23:43):
Has the opportunity to go and make another eight million dollars,
build his stock up and be even a high draft
pick going the.
Speaker 3 (23:50):
Next year's draft. I don't disagree with it.
Speaker 5 (23:52):
Then, based off where he is now, he's a good
thrower of the football. I believe it is Pro day
and if he throws at the combine help while people.
He throws the football well, Queen Ewers. I don't know
if you guys know, this was the highest ranked quarterback
in the history of rankings coming out of high school.
The history that nobody had a grade hired in Queen Yours.
(24:14):
Nobody ever, not one player.
Speaker 3 (24:16):
Who who did that great.
Speaker 4 (24:18):
I don't know who did it. So my point in
saying that is quarterback.
Speaker 5 (24:26):
He's a rower of the football, but his type of
quarterback play it really doesn't exist anymore. The let you'll
go across the entire NFL. I can name two guys,
and I want you guys to help me, then correct
me if I'm wrong. That play similar to him, and
he don't throw the ball like neither one of them.
He for sure don't throw like Matthew Stafford, who's a
(24:47):
pocket passer, and he ain't throwing it like golf. Them
the only two non mobile quarterbacks in the entire league,
and they both ballers.
Speaker 1 (24:56):
This is what says enough to me about whole quinn
u a situation. He's reportedly turned down eight million dollars
for then nil deal to transfer to somebody else. But
he enters the NFL draft. So why has the University
of Texas not offered him? Because because Archie Man. The
(25:21):
whole point is Archie Man.
Speaker 3 (25:22):
We all know why.
Speaker 5 (25:24):
I'm not kitchen way too hot. That ass on fire
that's blowing him out. The kitchen is too hot. Not
that's my point.
Speaker 6 (25:30):
But you could go get eight million to go in
somebody else's kitchen that don't have that heat like an
Archie Man.
Speaker 4 (25:35):
And that's what I'm in a and that's what I
would do.
Speaker 5 (25:39):
I don't understand it, Like, ultimately, it's a business now
at every level, it's really started high school. It's a business.
You have to approach it as such. This is bad
business decision on his part. This is a bad business decision.
Speaker 1 (25:54):
That's just what it is. Because he wants to leave
Texas in a good place. We all he feels that
he's going to be.
Speaker 5 (26:01):
Looked at differently now they're gonna look at him to
join another school. They looking at him differently, not for
not taking his money. There's nothing wrong with what you're saying, Plexico.
Speaker 4 (26:10):
But you know what not there is something wrong with
that var.
Speaker 3 (26:13):
Because you can make that money up on the other
side of r LeVar.
Speaker 5 (26:17):
When you when every every kid in America, we're not
even talking sports that goes to college.
Speaker 4 (26:23):
What do you go to college for your education? You
go to college. You get an education so that you
can get a career that you can financially make some money.
Speaker 5 (26:31):
Right, that's correct, Queen yours. It's no different than an athlete.
You go to college to get an education. If you're
an athlete, hopefully you're good enough to play the sport
to where you can make a career. If you can
start that career the career earnings in college, why wouldn't you.
Speaker 6 (26:49):
Yeah, but if you're sacrificing the idea of if you
are a legendary player, if you're a player that has
and you know, endeared yourself to that community, there is
a earn capacity there for you even once you're done
playing the game.
Speaker 3 (27:04):
So if you're trans.
Speaker 5 (27:06):
It could possibly exceed eight million, It could possibly exceed
it possible.
Speaker 3 (27:11):
Maybe maybe spades. Life is life is well, it is
man NFL. He's going to the NFL Draft and he's
going to be taking a pay cut. That's just what
it is. Crazy. We'll see how it all plays out.
Speaker 6 (27:26):
Let's get an update from Isaac Low and Crownwell, you
got my guy.
Speaker 7 (27:30):
You guys are in playoff form already. I can only
hope that the Texans, the Chiefs, the Lions, and the
Commanders are as on point from the kickoff as you
guys have been so far. And we start in the NFL.
And for some context, the other day, Pittsburgh Steelers head
coach Mike Tomlin was asked if he had a message
for teams out there who were interested in trading for him.
Speaker 3 (27:53):
I have no message. Save your time.
Speaker 7 (27:55):
Well, despite that, ESPO report of the Chicago Bears requested
permission from the Steelers to speak to tom What about
their head coaching job and a potential trade for him.
But not surprisingly, as Mike Tomlin himself said this, Stealers
said no. The Atlanta Falcons interviewed former Chicago Bearris head
coach Matt eber Fleus for their defensive coordinator job. Today's
NFL playoff action indeed kicks off at four thirty Eastern
(28:17):
as the Kansas City Chiefs host the Houston Texans at Arrowhead.
NFL media reported Texans running back Joe Mixon and linebacker
Aziz al Shire will both play today. Mixon had been
listed as questionable with an ankle injury. Al Shire had
been questionable due to a knee injury. Tonight at eight
pm Eastern, answer the Detroit Lions hosting the Washington Washington
(28:37):
Commanders and fellas, it is all yours.
Speaker 3 (28:40):
Appreciate it.
Speaker 5 (28:40):
I low, all right, Fellas, before we get to the break,
which we're quickly approaching.
Speaker 3 (28:46):
It is never enough time for all these conversations.
Speaker 4 (28:48):
If you have it.
Speaker 6 (28:51):
Prime, I would say, let's brought into coaches search conversation.
But I think the most intriguing conversation is Deon Sanders
and Jerry Jones.
Speaker 3 (29:01):
That's heating up. Do you guys think that this is
the right move, the right decision.
Speaker 5 (29:06):
I think the only person that could probably overcome all
of the confusion, all of the ego, all of everything
that's in Dallas.
Speaker 6 (29:14):
I feel like Deon Sanders more than anybody else. I've
heard Jason Witten's name come up, because he could be
the next Dan Campbell and coaching and all that. Man,
save all that noise. I think it's Deon Sanders or
bus at this point, what say you, guys.
Speaker 9 (29:31):
Oh, man, I don't see it. Like why, I'll say
this the reason why?
Speaker 5 (29:42):
The reason why is one, he has his coaching staff.
He is he has a pro level coaching staff at Colorado.
For one, they know each other, they're familiar, they have
their their systems in place, they run a pro style offense,
they have Hall of famers on their defensive side.
Speaker 3 (29:58):
There could be other people that he had. That's one.
Speaker 6 (30:00):
He has a stable coaching staff, which I think is
very important too. Is he has a very very defined
way of how he looks at the way he wants
to build out his teams, and and he's proven it
and he's shown it that he can do it at
the college level.
Speaker 4 (30:15):
Yeah, it's different, it's different, LeVar, I know it's different.
Speaker 3 (30:18):
I know it's different in the league.
Speaker 1 (30:21):
You just said, he has a different way of what
he wants to build this team. Will Jermy Jones allow
a deal to come in?
Speaker 6 (30:31):
I think, I think, see I believe that Dion Sanders
is the one guy that would be able to believe
that he is the.
Speaker 4 (30:39):
One guy, that one guy navigate Kerry.
Speaker 5 (30:42):
Hey, Okay, y'all say that you tell me the last
big time free agent of the Cowboys signed. Yeah, but
we're saying you say he's going to build his team.
When's the last big free agent the Cowboys signed? Probably
Herschel Walker. They traded Herschel, trade Herschel. They traded for Herschel. Right,
(31:05):
I traded for the free agent. All I'm saying they
don't do that. They don't sign big time free agents.
Speaker 6 (31:10):
All I'm saying to you Jones, Jerry Jones doesn't spend
money outside of certain players, either like.
Speaker 3 (31:17):
The pass rusher or the quarterback. He's done it for
running back as well with Ezekiel.
Speaker 6 (31:22):
But that's not saying that he would not change his
philosophy to fit what Dion Sanders brings to the tap.
Speaker 3 (31:31):
I totally agree with that one percent.
Speaker 1 (31:33):
If there's any coach out there that is going to
be the head coach of this franchise, Dallas Cowboys, I
believe that the only person that Jerry Jones would extend
this to would be Deon Sanders.
Speaker 3 (31:47):
I agree.
Speaker 4 (31:47):
I don't see Ron Rivera going in there and being
able to you know, grab.
Speaker 3 (31:53):
The ring Slraser.
Speaker 4 (31:56):
None of them bringing the team that he needs to win. No,
Jerry Jones doesn't have that. This is that much time
to build a team on his own.
Speaker 1 (32:07):
So if you want to, if you want to have
a winning brand of football, I think Deon Sanders is
the right move moving forward for this football team because
he knows the Brandon football he wants to wants to
camber It's commercial years ago when when when Jerry Jones
had this commercial with Deion Sanders, who do whatever it takes?
Speaker 4 (32:29):
He said, listen, if I had a team full of these,
I could rule the world. And that was that. That
was a commercial.
Speaker 5 (32:35):
I want Sanders absolutely, I want it takes all I say,
And we'll wrap it up here.
Speaker 3 (32:42):
We've got to go to break.
Speaker 6 (32:43):
But all I'll say here is Jerry Jones loves doing
things the way Jerry Jones loves doing them. He loves
being in the media, he loves letting people know he
knows what he's doing. Deon Sanders would allow for him
to be able to continue to be Jerry Jones and
yet be able to navigate putting together Yeah, I think
(33:04):
it would work his way of running things, and I
believe that Deon Sanders would be able to handle what
what Jerry Jones does in the media with his hits
and talking about what's going on. He would be able
to handle it because there's one person that has an
alternate created reality universe that's just his rivals. Just as
(33:27):
big as Jerry Jones is Deon Sanders, and that could
either be a train wreck or it could be an
amazing thing that takes place. I just don't think that
Deon Sanders leaves if he doesn't believe that he can
do it, because well we if you know Dion Dion
doesn't play to lose, and I don't think that he
would step into a situation like this. I think the
(33:48):
first coach that left Miami, what's what's the coach Hall
of Fame coach that left Miami to go coach Dallat,
Jim Johnson.
Speaker 5 (33:55):
I think that this would be the equivalent, if not
more on steroids. Even though Timmy Johnson want to watch
all tight and what happened to Jimmy, but this is
very different.
Speaker 6 (34:06):
I think this is very different and we'll see what
happens with that. Uh, this is up on Game. That's TJ. Hitchmanzada. Uh,
that's Plexico Burst. I'm LeVar Arrington. We're gonna take a
quick break and we'll be right back on the other side. Well,
we're gonna talk a little bit more sports. AJ Brown
all right, Fox Sports Radio, we'll be right back. Welcome

Speaker 6 (34:50):
Get off the air, Fellas, before we get to the
end of the hour, AJ on the sideline reading books.
All right, we're gonna highlight and talk about the the
previews of the games that are going to take place
in this divisional round.
Speaker 3 (35:04):
Uh, but let's just start here.
Speaker 6 (35:07):
Is this enough of a distraction that it has continued
to be discussed It kind of maybe maybe uncovered some
maybe some shade or some tension that maybe have been
speculated between justin excuse me, between Hurts Jalen Hurts, and
between AJ Brown.
Speaker 3 (35:23):
It's just continued to grow. The author reaches out to
A J. Brown. It's become a thing. Is this enough distractions?
Speaker 6 (35:30):
I'm telling you, the third hottest team in the NFL
right now, behind the Ravens and the Bills, is the
l A.
Speaker 3 (35:36):
Rams.
Speaker 6 (35:36):
I think they can go in to Philly and clip
these boys, especially if the if they not focused then
on winning. Got got it, y'all, got it, got super quick. Shoot,
we ain't got a lot of time.
Speaker 4 (35:48):
So jummy, I don't I don't agree with it.
Speaker 1 (35:52):
Okay, with him, you know, reading reading a book on
the sign or whatever the case may be. Maybe he
needs to, uh you know, you know, read to to
be focused mentally. Uh, But that would never happen in
our era of playing football. Somebody will come up to you,
smack the damn book out your hands.
Speaker 5 (36:11):
On man, that bitch away I was, respectfully, I would
have grabbed that, y'all and threw it away.
Speaker 3 (36:17):
But like bro, get your head in the game. Died.
Speaker 6 (36:20):
But it's a different era. Man, don't don't fight me
because he is. But I'm a I am go and
grab that book out your hand, throw it away. I'll
get you a new one.
Speaker 4 (36:30):
I don't get it.
Speaker 1 (36:31):
I don't stand it. I don't understand it. I don't
agree with it. But whatever it is, got young man
needs to, you know, get itself together.
Speaker 3 (36:40):
It's this sign.
Speaker 6 (36:41):
At the time, it looked like I don't know as
to me. That's some soft soft serve syrup ad stuff.
To me, bro, I'm just saying, I'm going to read
a book. I'm going to read a passage, just going
to re center me and this that man like we
in warrior mode, doc, like show me a warrior. That
that's pulling out a book and reading sell you about
(37:03):
to go to war. It's a self help book. Supposedly,
if you have sex, you got enough self help going
out onto that sideline, then you need to stay in
the in.
Speaker 3 (37:13):
The locker room and do us all the favor. You
ain't ready to go to war.
Speaker 6 (37:18):
To me, if you're sitting there reading a book on
if it ain't a play that you're reading, if it
ain't reading something about.
Speaker 3 (37:23):
How you're going to improve what you're doing on on
the field.
Speaker 4 (37:27):
Uh, it ain't.
Speaker 5 (37:29):
If it ain't, that book can be. No, you guys
got to look at it from this perspective. He may
have been, he may have been frustrated, and so that
book is the way to kind of resetting. You go
read a certain part and it resets him so that
he can not let that frustration carry on to the
(37:49):
next possession that they have.
Speaker 4 (37:52):
I mean, that's all I can think of. What I
do it?
Speaker 5 (37:54):
No, but things are different now. We didn't have counselors
and mental health people in the UH facility.
Speaker 3 (38:03):
Because you are so you are so forgiving and so forgiving.
Speaker 4 (38:07):
I'm just saying he may have been extremely frustrated in
that centeredy.
Speaker 3 (38:11):
I'm okay with understanding with how soft these little boys are.
So the book is called in Excellence.
Speaker 1 (38:19):
Inter Excellence will change your life, train your mind for
extraordinary performances and the best life possible.
Speaker 3 (38:26):
Hey, here's what that's what it takes. We're gonna take
a break.
Speaker 6 (38:30):
Be great, We're gonna read a passage out of this
book while we take a break for it for the
second hour.
Speaker 3 (38:35):
Come it's up on game. We'll be right back. Fox
Sports Radio
