They clabored the Chiefs yesterday and that's.
Speaker 2 (00:50):

Cuz Rocket's reminding us that we all deserve a shot

Speaker 1 (01:44):
And it's kind of a big deal. So we'll talk about.
Speaker 2 (01:48):
That and more. All right, Hey, let's get into this.
Are observations from Super Bowl weekend. There was a lot
and you said the word whelming, dwelling, not overwhelming, just whelming.
Speaker 1 (02:02):
Is that a word? I think it might be that. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (02:06):
I was whelmed at best, at everything from start to finish.
It was a mediocre, boring night, especially when you invest
so much in the football season every week we come
here speculating, you're so fired up about every matchup and
it comes down to a wet fart that we got
last night. And that's how I felt about it. I
mean fart. Yeah, Because the Chiefs were never in it
(02:31):
unless you're an Eagles fan. Unless you're an Eagles fan
or a Chiefs hater, there was nothing to be really
excited about. And then I was excited about halftime, and
even that was, well, there's two extremes here.
Speaker 1 (02:43):
Don't do it.
Speaker 2 (02:43):
No, no, No, I didn't hate it. There's people I
hate it. I think they're equally as wrong as people say.
And they loved it. You know, I get it. I understand.
We all grew up with hip hop. So to act
like you didn't get it, no, we get it, okay,
And I know his popularity. We're not old by any means.
I understand. Even that was to me because this is
Super Bowl performance. I wanted excitement. Maybe my expectations were
(03:05):
off but still whelming. And then the celebrations were equally
as welming.
Speaker 1 (03:11):
I didn't see.
Speaker 2 (03:11):
Anyone that thrilled to win the Super Bowl. But I
think your whole day was whelming because just for the
doesn't got it? You got to put this in perspective, No,
it does. If you know it's a little under the
weather after a week of Super Bowl fun in New Orleans.
That means my perspective was more accurate than yours. Because
you're hobnobbing with people having a fun time. Correct, it
was nothing fun about the game. Correct, you sat at
home by your waelf No, I was there with theo
(03:32):
my dog and he's my dog. And that means I
was counting on the game to be entertaining, because again
invested in an entire year watching for that. That's why
I'm like, oh man boom boomer. I was waiting to
be entertained. I wasn't like hoping has sucked. I was
waiting to be entertained.
Speaker 1 (03:53):
There about it. There was not a moment in that
game where you felt it was a game.
Speaker 2 (03:58):
That sounds ridiculous, but Philadelphia total ball control.
Speaker 1 (04:04):
That's what she said. In the first half.
Speaker 2 (04:06):
Like there was a point where it's like they had
the game play we talked about Danny, I'll give you
credit all along you I keeped the ball out of
mahomes hand. There was a time where it was like,
is Philadelphia the only one on offense? The first three
possessions by the Chiefs were three and out, four plays
and three and out. Like I'm here, Patrick mahomes here
(04:27):
exclusive on the Covino and Rich I just want to
say I'm sorry for one of the most embarrassing performances
by any QB and uh, you know, it just wasn't
our night. And uh any goat conversation between me and
Brady probably on pause for now. Pumped the breaks on that, right,
I pumped the brakes, but we'll be back.
Speaker 4 (04:45):
Have you guys did this was the entertaining part to
me late last night and starting this morning with the
TV sports shows. Have you ever seen the media turn
on a player so quick as they turned off Patrick Mahomes.
Speaker 1 (04:59):
That's what I find rolling.
Speaker 2 (05:00):
Nothing his fault though about the world we live in
sports media.
Speaker 1 (05:04):
I guess you know it's a fickle world.
Speaker 2 (05:07):
He why disassociate myself? He wins that game by far,
the greatest dude on the history of in the history
of sports. He loses. Let's pump the brakes go. You
know that never happened to Brady or Montana or anyone
like Well, that's because if you live in the world
of hot takes, you have to, you know, put it
in reverse immediately. And we don't live in that world.
(05:29):
We live in a sports world. But that's not our
angle and never was, never will be.
Speaker 5 (05:33):
My question is if the narrative for the past, like
a year or so, has been that the refs are
responsible for him winning. Shouldn't we just credit the refs
for him losing?
Speaker 1 (05:40):
Then?
Speaker 2 (05:42):
Yeah, the Eagles were dominant. Man, Eagles were dominant. They Yeah,
they were dominant last night. The Chiefs never had a shot,
you know, they they played large. And if you want
to look at the positives, here are the two positives
that I took away. As far as the game, the story,
the story line, the fact that they lost came back
(06:02):
and the story of revenge and perseverance is incredible. I
think that's for the history books. Yo, Man, Jalen Hurts
lost the super Bowl, came back and clober the team
that beat offer. That is like a story of motivation
and that I love. And as far as the Super
Bowl halftime show, I think the takeaway here is they
(06:24):
went artsy and took a chance. You know, maybe creative
and artsy isn't what the Super Bowl needs, but they
went for something different. Anyone under forty loved it, anyone
over forty really didn't. And it's generational and that's okay.
I like the fact that they took a chance on it.
Not everything has to be dancing sharks, because that's equally
(06:47):
as eye roll y, you know what I mean, Like,
I don't need dancing sharks either, But you know the
same time, I don't know how deep I want to
get for my halftime show.
Speaker 1 (06:55):
Maybe just left shark.
Speaker 6 (06:56):
I'm under forty first of all, And second I I was.
I was whelmed by Kendrick Lamar, who I like, I like.
Speaker 1 (07:04):
I am literally his songs on my phone right now.
Speaker 6 (07:06):
It just I don't think translates to the stage of
the super Bowl.
Speaker 2 (07:10):
As I heard something, as I heard someone say, Monci,
you know, Kendrick Lamar. That would have been a hell
of a you know, Grammy Night performance. The super Bowl
halftime show warrants.
Speaker 6 (07:22):
A spectacle, yes, and you know that where everyone jumps
up and you're just so excited.
Speaker 1 (07:28):
There was no surprises.
Speaker 6 (07:29):
We knew Scissor was going to be there.
Speaker 1 (07:30):
What was the surprise? The casual, the casual walking on her.
Speaker 2 (07:35):
Exel L Jackson, get it, man, that's Drake's girlfriend. To me,
it took me two seconds to connect the data and like,
oh Waitnes.
Speaker 1 (07:43):
That's Serena Williams.
Speaker 2 (07:43):
Wait a minute, oh Drake, but listen the super Bowl
halftime show. We've been saying it for a year. It's
clearly they're going after a younger demo, which listen, they
already got, hey, they.
Speaker 1 (07:55):
Already got uh.
Speaker 2 (07:56):
You know you if you're older, if you're like our
parents generation, they got you, or your gonna be, you know,
eventually dead in the next one of years.
Speaker 1 (08:02):
They don't need you.
Speaker 2 (08:03):
They need the younger demo. Kendrick Lama is a fine choice.
But if you were looking like Mansi said, for that,
everyone jump out of their chair moment. You know, they
not like us as a monster hit. Yeah, But other
than that, if you were a casual music listener, you
might not have known any other song, any other song.
That's the that's the truth, because he doesn't cross over
(08:26):
to mainstream.
Speaker 1 (08:27):
Like the Kiss FM in your hometown and the and
the Z one hundred.
Speaker 2 (08:30):
And that's why one hundred could look at that as
a positive, like not everything needs to be that way,
and they took a chance. I'm not sure if it worked,
but again, much like everything in the United States is
kind of split down the middle. It depends who you ask.
Speaker 5 (08:44):
If you put like a huge country artist up there
who has wide mainstream success, I probably wouldn't know most
of the songs. Yeah, because I don't follow, I probably
could say the same thing, like, hey, yeah, you're never
gonna make everyone happy. So it's like Pot put up
a good product, and I thought it was I enjoyed
as a visual and musical performance.
Speaker 1 (09:06):
I enjoyed it.
Speaker 2 (09:06):
Oh, I thought it was. I thought it was really interesting.
I actually did. I wanted more. I thought, Okay, this
is interesting. I like where it's going. I like Samuel L.
Jackson's uncle Sam trying to dictate where the storyline went,
and Kendrick Lamar is still doing his own thing. The symbolism,
I get all that. Very cool, but it wasn't that exciting,
which was the mood of the entire night. So maybe
it's very fitting for a whelming game as this. How
(09:30):
about let's not take Covino's word for it, sitting by
himself with his dog.
Speaker 1 (09:33):
Let's not take my word for anything.
Speaker 5 (09:36):
House on.
Speaker 1 (09:36):
Let's go to a guy. That's Belvar Burton. Let's take
his word for it. Let's go guy, it's still in
New Orleans. Hold on, hold on the game, damn, Bayer,
hold on, hold on? What up?
Speaker 6 (09:46):
Dan?
Speaker 1 (09:47):
Wait, that's drop.
Speaker 2 (09:51):
On phone, New Orleans. It's our very own Dan, byer
he was there. I saw all of his coverage on
social media, some great picks has.
Speaker 1 (10:00):
How's it going man? And how was it from your perspective?
Speaker 2 (10:02):
By the way, is all the green confetti out of
your hairs?
Speaker 7 (10:06):
I did not get hit with green confetti, but there
may be some making its way back with me.
Speaker 1 (10:11):
Yes, oh zip back? Yeah, who knows?
Speaker 7 (10:15):
The Super Bowl halftime show did not translate to the
crowd that was intended in attendance. It did not.
Speaker 1 (10:23):
It did not work in that fashion.
Speaker 2 (10:25):
So it does make me wonder though. It's like, you know,
do you cater to the consumer? But at the same time,
and I say this all the time, actually learn this
in marketing class. Marketing one on one tells you that,
you know, Coca Cola is not advertising to you. Everybody
knows who Coca Cola is. We know what it is.
They're advertising to younger people, and that's the NFL's way
of gaining a younger audience. They're bringing Kendrick Lamar in here,
(10:46):
even though he's not that young. He's been doing it
since the early two thousand. He's in his late thirties, right.
But again, it's it's not for you. We need to
understand that, but it's interesting to hear that the vibe
in your living room, or at least in fifty two
percent of the living rooms, was the same as the
vibe in the stadium.
Speaker 1 (11:02):
Not that exciting.
Speaker 7 (11:03):
Well, remember guys when the NFL they struck a deal
with Rock Nation years back, and that changed the Super
Bowl halftime show where now we've had artist based either
in hip hop or R and B ever since really
that agreement was made. So you had the weekend Super
Bowl fifty five. I think he's crossed over to be mainstream.
(11:26):
We had the great Doctor Dre Snoop Dogg Shell that
I think everybody loved in LA and then you had
Rihanna Ushera, now Kendrick Lamar, and so I think that
at some point you do need songs. And that was
the tough part of last night is I don't know
if Monzi Senator who said it, but there's only one,
maybe two songs you know of Kendrick Lamar, maybe Rich
(11:48):
you said it, So nobody's singing along. And that was
a point that I've made to many people last night
and today, is that they played Mister Brightside by the
Killers in the fourth quarter in all of the fans
were singing it, right, and they played Sweet Caroline, and
you know, we know what happens when Caroline's played at
a sporting event. Everybody's singing it. Nobody was really into it.
Speaker 1 (12:10):
Last night, however, was.
Speaker 2 (12:13):
A minor and it gave me a little. They gave
me some chills, man, because yeah, but that was the
only point I know. But still everybody that was what
the death of Drake's career as the as the stories go.
But yeah, that was kind of cool, but interesting to
hear your perspective, Dan, I thought maybe more excitement at
the stadium. I don't think most your your dad didn't
get that reference. My point is next year San Francisco,
(12:36):
they clearly.
Speaker 1 (12:37):
Clearly aren't caring about your dad.
Speaker 2 (12:38):
And I think what Dana is saying here is that
with rock Nation, we're not going to get Metallica next
year either, because they're from the Bay out Nation is
going to give you a younger, more rhythmic, hip hop leaning,
urban leaning radio like audience.
Speaker 1 (12:55):
That's the truth, right.
Speaker 2 (12:56):
So if you look at it the last five shows
now San Francisco, you might say.
Speaker 1 (13:02):
Well, isn't Metallica from the Bay Area? YEP? Is that
the year they do go does rock Nation go rock?
Speaker 2 (13:08):
Do they maybe say is like a post Malone Mightley
Cyrus maybe go back a little more mainstream, like where
do they go? Where do they go from here? They
do a mix of all that. What says you, dB,
that was.
Speaker 7 (13:19):
The tough part about last night is you mentioned the
special guests. We knew Scizza was gonna be performing with him.
There was nobody that came out that did a song
or did a verse or did anything with him. The
special guests were, as he said, Serena dancing and Samuel
Jackson speaking. And there is something out like we've talked
about it on this show, like ladies and gentlemen blah
(13:41):
blah blah.
Speaker 1 (13:42):
You're like, oh my gosh, ye like that. That's the
coolest thing. I thought.
Speaker 2 (13:45):
It was a big surprise that they fit one hundred
and fifty people in one little car.
Speaker 1 (13:48):
That was a big surprise. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (13:50):
And as a half Mexican guy, I find that to
be cultural appropriation. Wasn't even a tacoma, I know, So
you know, I took a little offense to that.
Speaker 1 (13:58):
I'm like, yeo, that's he's making fun of mexskins. I
think joking joking, Joe.
Speaker 7 (14:02):
Remember super Bowl fifty they had cold Play and then
they brought out Beyonce, and I think they also brought
out Bruno Mars, So you could cold pit Play who
you thought could carry the whole show, and they're like,
you know what, let's add Beyonce to this, and let's
also throw in Bruno Mars, who, by the way, were
the performers in previous Super Bowls not too far from that.
In forty seven, Beyonce did it. In forty eight it
(14:23):
was Bruno Mars, So like you even have that level
of it, like there is something need of where all
the stars get together. The heck, the biggest Super Bowl
controversy ever came with Justin Timberlake and Janet Jackson, right
like there's a crossover to what, Yeah.
Speaker 1 (14:37):
What happened with anybody got video?
Speaker 7 (14:40):
By the way, just to refresh our memories, No, yeah,
I think.
Speaker 1 (14:44):
That that that pops.
Speaker 7 (14:45):
That stuff does pop.
Speaker 5 (14:46):
I'm convinced. I'm still convinced to this day of my lifetime.
Other than like the big ones like Prince obviously Michael Jackson,
which was huge, The two thousand and one Super Bowl
show was the was one of the greatest and because
it touched all generations. You had Aerosmith, which was a
legendary band everyone knew. You had in Sync, which was
for like younger people coming off of the late nineties
(15:06):
early two thousands. You had Britney Spears whoever won Love.
Then you had Mary J. Blige come out for a
little bit of the older school hip hop. Then you
had Nelly come out, who was contemporary hip hop. So
I feel like a show like that that touches every
little generation has something for everybody, is something that we need.
Speaker 2 (15:23):
You know.
Speaker 5 (15:23):
It's like I thought that the show with like Dre
Snoop Eminem all that, even though it was more hip hop,
skewed dude, it touched every generation. YEFL, that's what we need.
NFL's not hurt and they could do what every day
you want.
Speaker 2 (15:35):
Stick with what you said, though, spot You're never gonna
please everybody, because sometimes when you do all that, if
you get Metallica and Chris Brown, it feels forced sometimes,
you know what I mean, Like that sounds dumb to me,
you know, So you know, the NFL took a chance.
I'm okay with it the whole night. Like I said,
it matched the vibe of the entire night. When you
think about it, everything was just okay. And when you
(15:56):
saw the reaction of the Eagles actually winning the most excitement.
We had to do our research because I was like,
Jalen Hurts, I get it, he's a very poised, level
headed dude, but you do want to see him hoisting
the trophy like we want. Yeah, you want to see excitement.
He watched an entire season to see a somber process.
(16:18):
I'm prosing processing a little lethargic, you know what. How
to do our research, Sam, and we looked up the
disney World commercial. You know, Jalen Hurts, you just won
the Super Bowl and he does the I'm going to
disney World And that was the most excitement I saw
And it was emotional and I love that.
Speaker 1 (16:33):
I just I wish we had more of that.
Speaker 2 (16:35):
But again it goes back to what Spot said, We're
never going to be fully satisfied or fully pleased. You know.
Overall it was it was a it was an sort
of night. I don't like poised people. Yeah, I wanted excitement,
but I'm I'm not a fan of the poised. I
like excitement, I like emotions. In fact, the fans. Jalen
Hurts made me roll my eyes, like this guy act
(16:55):
looks like he just you know, won a fifty fifty
fifty lottery to schools at his kids won the Super Bowl.
Speaker 5 (17:02):
The game was such a pummeling though. That's why I
why it wasn't. It wasn't like a last second decision.
It was like this game was in the books by
pretty much halftime, let's be honest, ThReD quarter and so
by the time the game was over, it was like, eh,
we won.
Speaker 1 (17:14):
Yeah, but when it's.
Speaker 4 (17:15):
Thirty four to nothing, I mean, you know you're going
to win the entire second half. In fact, TB I
was going to ask you at home watching it felt
like after the Cooper to Shaun interception the game was
pretty much over. Did it feel that way there in
the stadium, Well.
Speaker 7 (17:30):
Danny, you must be on axs. That's exactly what I tweeted.
I go, I think this is over at that point,
because it was. Kansas City had done nothing and they
did not mentioned earlier the early part of this game,
Kansas City didn't even.
Speaker 1 (17:45):
Try to run.
Speaker 7 (17:46):
The Eagles had had eighteen rushing attempts compared to Kansas
City's won so even when Kansas City did have the
ball in the limited fashion, when they weren't down by
the thirty four, they were only down by ten or
less than certain parts, they chose to roll the ball,
and I think that that was a big, big problem.
Not that they were going to win the game and
run over Philadelphia, but Patrick Mahomes is not going to
(18:08):
beat the Eagles by himself, and I think the Chiefs
game plan forced him to try to do that. And
we saw how it turned out.
Speaker 2 (18:15):
When when Kansas City couldn't put anything together at the
end of the first half and you're like, I'm able
to put some points on the board, You're like, all right,
it's twenty four to nothing.
Speaker 1 (18:22):
You still thought they'd make an adjustable. You thought twenty
four to nothing.
Speaker 2 (18:25):
Every one in my house who was watching was saying,
all right, Casey gets the ball, all right, they'll drive
and they'll get the two point conversion and then it'll
be twenty eight, twenty four to eight, a two score game.
And when Kansas City came out in the third and
it was a quick three and out, I'm like, yo,
this is not like yeah, we're not even gonna get
an ounce of excitement like this.
Speaker 1 (18:46):
Is like the most boring. Again, at no point were
you like, this is a game, like where were those
magical Mahomes drives that were.
Speaker 6 (18:55):
Used to It happened when was getting gay right on
him and that's why he did it.
Speaker 1 (19:00):
By the way, his Gatoray bath came before the two
and that's when that if you're worthy of touchdown, I
think happened once you put out Kenny picking Any. I
had no problem with that. And you know what's what's
interesting is three minutes left.
Speaker 2 (19:12):
It was that the game was always that they could
have poured anerad on Sirianni with three minutes left in
the first half.
Speaker 1 (19:19):
I'll tell you.
Speaker 7 (19:20):
I'll tell you this, Patrick Mahomes being in the game,
there was a play where he almost had his arm
taken off like brock Perty did against the Eagles in
the NFC Championship game. It's about with nine minutes to go,
you fumbled and Philadelphia recovered. I had no idea why
Mahomes was still in the game, guys, and then I realized, oh,
there's Super Bowl records to break. Travis Kelcey broke Jerry
Rice's all time record for most receptions in Super Bowls.
Speaker 1 (19:44):
dB it's so funny would say that.
Speaker 2 (19:45):
I said that to our buddy Bo who was in
the editing room today and Monci before we went on
the air. I said, the bummer for me is that
because there was so much garbage, essentially yar enge in time.
At the end, Mahomes and a couple of people padded
their postseason and the stories being not like historically, it'll
be like, well, Mahomes did throw for three hundred yards
(20:07):
because I looked back.
Speaker 1 (20:07):
To score too. Unfortunately, that's what they'll see.
Speaker 2 (20:10):
Yeah, you know what one person I did change my
mind on because Jalen Hurts was so boring.
Speaker 1 (20:17):
I really, you know, by the way, I don't think
it was just him.
Speaker 2 (20:20):
I thought everybody, and it could have been, you know,
because they clobbered him, but it could have been a
sense of relief too, you know. But everything I think
everybody's reaction was sort of like not excited.
Speaker 1 (20:32):
I really changed my mind. And we're allowed to do this, guys.
Speaker 2 (20:34):
This is not a you know, you don't have to
be a stubborn ass where you make your opinion and
that's it forever. I set a different side of Nick
Sirianni with his kids last night and him crying postgame,
and he went from guy I grew up with. I
didn't personally grow up with him, but growing up on
the East Coast, New York, New Jersey. He just feels like,
I don't know, like a like a like a guy
(20:56):
you want to like slap in the.
Speaker 4 (20:57):
Face, Like like he's got that look like a like
a he used to be number one on your most
Punishable faceless called a hate to face.
Speaker 1 (21:04):
This account win is coming from a guy with a
punchable face, A rich Davis. Shut up. I'm just wondering.
Speaker 2 (21:09):
But no, got Dixie Rannie when they win. He's got
this arrogant look. Very Jersey, oh, very the Philly. So
what I didn't like about Nick Sirianni had nothing to
do with who the man he is. I just didn't
like his vibe. Seeing him with his kids being superficial
saw a human sign and seeing his other kid there
and him showing some tears like you know what, I'm
(21:32):
the jerk for you know, I like for Judge had
to say about this team loves each other. He said
that multiple times throughout the night, that they're what team
is all about, how they didn't want to let each
other down, and I think we proved the question of
the week. There was greater motivation from trying to get
vengeance in this Super Bowl than trying to repeat because
(21:55):
it looked like they had winners fatigue. It looked like
the Chiefs were never really in it. They know how
to really make any adjustments. They didn't seem pumped about anything.
Their body languages super Marie. So again, I think that
the greater motivator was the fact that the Eagles had
been there and lost to them, and they weren't going
to let that happen again. And I think although we've
(22:16):
painted a really boring picture, the great takeaway here is
perseverance in the comeback story of the Eagles, and I
think that's inspiring.
Speaker 1 (22:25):
Dan Byer, who's on site before you.
Speaker 2 (22:27):
Go, Man, any other observations you want to leave us with,
I think you're Siriani take Rich is very on point.
Speaker 7 (22:33):
There were a lot of people that came up to
him after the game, and I'm curious to see if
he'll be more grounded in his way, in his ways
moving forward now that he is a Super Bowl champion,
because there's responsibility that goes with that. I am also
just curious on the Jalen Hurst Jalen Hurts love Fest
and how far it takes him in Philadelphia before we
(22:55):
go back to the usual Philadelphia ways we have until
you know, opening week, it's of the of week one
and then we'll then we'll see if it starts to
change it all.
Speaker 2 (23:06):
It is funny, Dan because the Nick Sirianni narrative from me,
and I'm sure a lot of people went from like, yeah,
this guy too, I'll get him crying. He's got his
kids and you know, but the Jalen Hurts being very
whole hum about winning. You know what, it reminded me
of remember when Paul Skeen's one rookie Yeah, oh my god,
and Livy Dunz all a sudden he just stand there
like a dud. It's like, I can't vibe with those
(23:28):
type of people because I'm a very excitable person. So
I'm like, if you win the cy Young, if you
win the super Bowl, if you win something, show me something.
Speaker 6 (23:35):
You know.
Speaker 2 (23:35):
It's that age old old question of you know, act
like you've been there before. Look, they never won, though,
so be excited about it. You're allowed to be excited.
But then again, that's kind of what makes some great quarterback.
He's a poised, calm, cool and collected kind of guy.
But I thought the whole team was again maybe relief
rich who knows Dan Byer, Thanks you, insight man. Have
a safe trip back, Dan Bayer from New Orleans. We
(23:59):
had a great time with him out there and a
great week in New Orleans. If you missed any of
our shows, catch to podcasts, get all that confetti out
of your crevices before you get home. Yeah, you'll be
finding that everywhere all right. Hey, Now, last night, when
you watch the Super Bowl, yeah, you watch the game obviously,
but you also watch for all the ads, and some
of them were fun and some were really heart tugging
(24:20):
because they hit right here and that rocket mortgage one
was really great take me Home Country Road to sing along.
But again, it just reminds you of the or what
should be, the American dream, and they're bringing that back.
You know, as a homeowner myself, you know, it's a
good feeling to know that the American dream still lives
(24:43):
and that's what they're trying to bring back. You know,
you want to feel like you own something, this is yours.
You want to take a pride in that that you
and your family. That was the heart tugging commercial of
the night. Yeah, shedding a tear with all these people. Yeah, Rich,
I was glad. I was alone in my home, sick,
just because I didn't Wantny want to see me crying.
(25:04):
And then they cut back to the stadium and everyone's
singing along to take Me Home Country Road.
Speaker 1 (25:10):
You guys, I rent, I was really crying. No.
Speaker 2 (25:14):
But that's the thing, right, Like they want to bring
back that dream and make it a reality again, because
when you think of the American dream, you think of that,
that's one of the first things you think of, to
own my own home.
Speaker 1 (25:25):
And Rocket making that possible.
Speaker 2 (25:28):
So hey, just a reminder of how last night, of
all those commercials, Rocket really hit you right there in
the heart with take Me Home Country Road. So do
we have the post Super Bowl blues, post NFL blues
or we shifting our focus to the NBA?
Speaker 1 (25:49):
Are you ready for baseball? I don't know.
Speaker 2 (25:51):
Cavino and Rich live from the tyrack dot Com Studio.
Rockets owned the dream ad with taking Me Home Country
Road was what we'll remember from the game because Rocket
is reminding us we all deserve a shot at the
American dream of owning a home, and that's kind of
a big deal.
Speaker 1 (26:07):
No doubt. Rocket delivered with that ad last night.
Speaker 2 (26:11):
Now before we chop it up and get everybody involved
with things to make you go hmm, super Bowl edition rich,
were you kind of surprised? I noticed? Is gonna sound dumb, like, Hey,
that Samuel L. Jackson guy was really great.
Speaker 1 (26:29):
I get it.
Speaker 2 (26:29):
He's one of the greatest actors of all time, the
highest grossing actor, right, He's in the most movies that
made the most money. But with the pressures of Super
Bowl live like that, you're not impressed, Like, here's my
mindset though not a little bit. When John Hamm did
the introduction and when Bradley Cooper did the introduction, you
don't think those are really I know they're famous and
they live under the spotlight, but.
Speaker 1 (26:50):
We're talking Super Bowl with one hundred million people watching.
Speaker 2 (26:53):
You think you'd be able to deliver in that pressure,
no doubt, no doubt your heart wouldn't be beating a
little faster.
Speaker 1 (26:59):
You're just foolish guy. You don't think it's a nerve
wracking situation.
Speaker 2 (27:03):
Maybe guys like me have that regular harpee like a
jeter or a Montana and you're a nervous ninny. I'm
sure most hyped up guy I've ever met in my
life who can't sit still. I'm sure you would have
been so cool in that situation. Those things don't affect me,
they affect you. I've worked through you a long time.
You're always shocked by this, and it baffles me because
these Madrid Lavart was more nervous last night than any
(27:25):
other concert. John hamm Yes, because one hundred million people
are watching pressures. It's a high pressure situation. It comes
with a lot of criticism. He knows that going in there.
But you think John Ham does that and then expects
everyone to be like, dude, your voice cracked.
Speaker 1 (27:39):
You suck like.
Speaker 2 (27:40):
It's a high pressure situation to do those things live
under those bright lights. The super Bowl is not like
anything else. It's not the Grammys, it's not the Oscars.
Super Bowl is an international spectacle. So for Samuel L.
Jackson to be that great, I was impressed, but foolishly whatever,
I just think it's super cool when people deliver under
(28:01):
that immense amount of pressure. Look, these athletes have been
playing to get there all season. These performances, it's just
it's just a little different. It's a it's a one
and done situation, like you don't get a recut or
a redo.
Speaker 1 (28:15):
Yeah, but you know it is impressive to me.
Speaker 2 (28:17):
I thought Lady Gaga was equally impressive in the beginning,
Like she sounded flawless. I don't know, I always think
of something, uh and she trump jumped off the top
of the stadium. Stoop Stoop Dog once told me this personally. Yeah, oh,
we we talked about you get nervous for certain moments,
and he said, I don't get nervous for stuff I'm
(28:38):
good at. I get nervous her stuff I'm not good at.
Like I would be if you told me Rich, go
make an announcement in front of a stadium, Yeah, of
course there's go'n.
Speaker 1 (28:47):
Be a little nervous, but that's what I know how
to do.
Speaker 2 (28:48):
If you told me, can you go in the middle
of the arena a stadium in so dancing freestyle, then
I'd be nervous. You're you're undermining how this up? Like
just the humble of a word could have messed up
Samuel L. Jackson, but he was perfect. You know who
recently really showed how talented and calm they are. We
(29:10):
said this Carrie Underwood, remember when she had to perform
at the inauguration, which the entire country was watching, and
something about the sound or the music wasn't going on.
Speaker 1 (29:19):
Yeah, She's like, she had to go a cappella.
Speaker 5 (29:21):
I'm just going to sing this a cappella the Capitol
rotunda and she nailed it.
Speaker 4 (29:24):
And she didn't freak out until after she was behind
closed doors.
Speaker 1 (29:27):
Yeah, but in the moment, you deliver in the moment,
that's what they do. But you know, I was still impressed.
Speaker 4 (29:33):
You know who he talked to at the Super Bowl
who we were impressed with this same thing. Andrew Whitworth.
I thought you're gonna say, seal him too. But Whitworth, remember,
not only was he speaking in front of the entire
stadium when the Cardinals hosted the Rams playoff game, but
he knew he was going to be on camera in
front of millions of people.
Speaker 1 (29:52):
And he did express how nervous he was. But Rich
Davis not, No, you just proved my points. Dunce. No,
what do you mean? Sure?
Speaker 2 (29:58):
Dunst had like chapelone, that's a good one. He said
that he was nervous on our show. That doesn't mean
that doesn't mean you don't step up.
Speaker 1 (30:05):
And deliver because you're nervous.
Speaker 2 (30:07):
No, Andrew Whitworth said he was more nervous than when
he played because you know what, Andrew Whitworth knows how
to do play football. He's out a public speaker. This
is you know, he's a rookie essentially in the broadcasting game.
So I would assume a guy like he would get
more nervous making an announcement.
Speaker 1 (30:25):
Fish out of water at a stadium, Fish out of water,
perform at a million.
Speaker 2 (30:33):
We all have, so anyway, my bad for being impressed.
Cavino and Rich on Fox Sports Radio, Are you ready
to do a little things that.
Speaker 1 (30:42):
Made you go? Super Bowl Edition? Things that make you go,
things that make you go?
Speaker 2 (30:52):
You know, there was a there was a hit on
the Homes that I I didn't love because I don't
want to see anyone get hurt. And since he didn't get.
Speaker 1 (30:59):
Hurt, I love that.
Speaker 2 (31:01):
There was a play where he got mushed by the
face mask like he was when it happened live, I
was like, did he just get killed?
Speaker 1 (31:09):
We have actual sound audio from that clip. Yo, Thank you.
Speaker 2 (31:15):
Sam the Defender on the Eagles mushed him by the
face and threw him back, and it was like insult
to injury and probably the worst day of mahomes professional career.
Speaker 1 (31:26):
Did she feel bad for him? Not even a little bit. No,
I mean, you don't want to get to the super
Bowl and stink it like it was embarrassing.
Speaker 2 (31:33):
At my party, we were rooting for the shutout come
third quarter because it's like, this game stinks.
Speaker 1 (31:38):
What can we root for?
Speaker 2 (31:39):
Maybe let's root for the Chiefs, a dynasty, having the
worst game in Super Bowl history, and then very quickly
it's got a touchdown. We're like, no, that's over. But
I know I didn't feel bad for them at all.
In fact, you know, it's refreshing. I did, however, think
that the NFL needs to step on it with this
whole eighteen game schedule. We've talked about when the NFL
(32:00):
adds eighteen games, they're talking about adding a second bye week,
and when it's all lined up, the super Bowl will
eventually be the Sunday before President's Day. And listen, we're
here working because we work in sports media, so we're
gonna be here regardless. But everyone else that had to
go to work today think about how We're just one
(32:21):
week away from just having that Monday be a holiday
for you know everyone else, Like, yeah.
Speaker 1 (32:27):
Today needs to be a national holiday. Agreed.
Speaker 2 (32:30):
There's not many things that we could claim as American
that deserve this type of holiday. I really do think
that this is so ingrained as part of our culture,
part of the fabric of who we are. All walks
of life in America, all cultures, we all unify on
this one day we celebrate.
Speaker 1 (32:46):
It should be the day of rest, the day after
super Bowl.
Speaker 5 (32:50):
What makes your recovering day or what makes more sense
to you? Make it Monday off or super Bowl Saturday?
No Monday off, Monday offtil you're going to change something
after sixty years.
Speaker 2 (32:59):
Honestly, day off because everyone want to create their day
off after the super Bowl.
Speaker 1 (33:02):
That's changing something. No, that's.
Speaker 2 (33:06):
Yes the example. Yeah, sure, well say you know it's fun.
Thanks for me in the contrarian that I want to
swim your head against the table. Yesterday, yesterday we were
at the YEA, I want to mush you like mahomes.
Speaker 1 (33:17):
Not a hostility between you guys. We were saying it yesterday.
Speaker 2 (33:22):
We're hanging around my kitchen, half paying attention to the
game because it was like forty nothing. And we said,
of all the things people fight about, politics, the halftime show, everything,
there's not one person that would be like that's a
bad idea.
Speaker 1 (33:34):
Who doesn't think it's a great idea.
Speaker 2 (33:36):
If you made the Super Bowl Sunday followed by President's
Day Monday, there's not one human that would be like
a brand idea except Spot Apparently.
Speaker 5 (33:43):
What about Bill Belichick would say no days off and
we say, you know you're the only one, Sam, Could
you could move up Presidents Day because presidents say is
just an observation. It's not like occasionally it falls on
Lincoln's birthday.
Speaker 2 (33:55):
You know it may say Speaking of Bill Belichick, Sam,
the fact that he had the huevos to incorporate his
girlfriend in a national ad for Super Bowl, to me,
that shows huge investment in this woman. Some people won't
even post their girlfriend on social media. This guy brought
her onto a national ad for the world to see.
(34:16):
So to me, that says a lot. I'm like, dang
joke's hot. You must have him every time I see them,
and I hope he'd parade her around. I look in
at risk man, like, let me show me proud. Of
her as a guy who's been through several failed relationships. Sam,
There's nothing more embarrassing than like vouching for somebody and
then like having to explain everybody like, yeah, I guess
(34:37):
it didn't work.
Speaker 5 (34:38):
Why whenever you invite a new girlfriend to a wedding
or like a family event, always make sure they're on
the end so when you need to crop the photo,
it's easier.
Speaker 2 (34:45):
So this guy is bringing her on a Super Bowl ADS,
that's like a high validation. And I'm sure they got paid,
but it made me say, hmmm, all right, well let's
go to Manci. Someone that's never on the end of
a photo, never right in the center. Who would do
that to her?
Speaker 1 (35:00):
I mean, I am the small one, so I tend
to be in the middle right.
Speaker 2 (35:03):
Yes, just for the pictures, the bottom half of the
photo sign and you hold the sign on every team
photo because you're so little.
Speaker 1 (35:10):
Yeah, exactly, Tompkins. Yeah, I'm saying, you know what I mean.
It just makes it look proportioned, you guys, It's just
what it is. Exactly. When you're talking about Carrie Underwood,
she the clip is she just looks at the camera.
She's like, I'll just sing, I'll just sing it. Oh,
it's so good, so good, all right, guys. So the
(35:30):
Eagles probably still celebrating. They're probably gonna celebrate the whole week.
Speaker 6 (35:33):
But they're planning to have their actual parade Friday, Valentine's
Day for kicking ass and taking names yesterday against the
Kansas City Chiefs. So on Valentine's Day is the official
parade for the Philadelphia Eagles. Cowboys are finalizing a deal
to hire former Bills and Brown's offensive coordinator Can Dorsey.
Luka Dancic is expected to make his Lakers debut today
against the Jazz Hawkstar Trey Young is going to be
(35:54):
replacing the injured the injured Giannice Ontotokumpo in the upcoming
NBA All Star Game this Sunday. A replacement for Anthony
Davis has not been announced yet, and Tiger was announced
on social media that he won't in fact be playing
in this week's Genesis Invitational. He is still processing his
mother's death. In his statement, he says he planned to play,
but he just isn't ready.
Speaker 2 (36:15):

Speaker 1 (37:21):
They not like Gus. I don't know if you heard
that one. Stop it. Come on, bro, No, my friend
Gus loves that joke. Sure he does. You should dump that,
not because it needs to be dumped, just because so
no one has to hear.
Speaker 2 (37:31):
Oh sorry, I forgot. I did the show with Cedric
the Entertainer, the King of Comedy, Rich Davis, live from
the tyraq dot com Studio. Rockets Own the Dream ad
with taking Me Home Country Roads was one of the
highlights of Super Bowl Sunday because Rocket is reminding everybody
that you deserve a shot at the American dream of
owning a home. It's a big deal and they're bringing
(37:52):
it back, and that's a great thing. Again, we're Covino
and Rich at Covino and Rich fresh from the Super Bowl.
We had a big week out there to be back,
kind of exhausted like everybody else, the post super Bowl blues.
Speaker 1 (38:06):
But now we're in the middle of things that made
you go hmm super Bowl.
Speaker 2 (38:11):
Addition, any of your observations from the game or this weekend,
but mostly the game, you know, other other than you know,
I know, we're showing a lot of left to the
Rocket ad Take Me Home Country Road, the Pringles with
the mustaches and.
Speaker 4 (38:26):
Before that little Little Caesars. Prior to that with the
eyebrows flying. Oh wait, eyebrows, that was Little Caesars and
then Pringles the mustache flying.
Speaker 1 (38:35):
Okay, so they did Eugene Levy's eyebrows. I was like,
who bit who I think they like? Is it lev?
Speaker 2 (38:43):
I think it was a callback, you know what I mean,
Like it was a callback of comedy kind of like
I think it was meant to Yeah, I think. I
mean I've seen both speculated in articles about Super Bowl
ads again, much like the overall feeling of the game
and the performance kind of a mid the commercials.
Speaker 1 (39:06):
Some decent ones. The Michelob Michelob Ultra was good, the Pickleball.
Speaker 5 (39:11):
I thought the McConaughey one was funny. But they've all conspiracy.
Speaker 2 (39:16):
The age of being excited for Super Bowl ads is
just kind of done simply because we've seen all these
on social media.
Speaker 1 (39:23):
They get leaked ahead of time, so like, is just
not there? Does that have to happen? It's strategicy, I know,
but they they need to change that. Well, they want
to get it out there.
Speaker 2 (39:33):
Danny Soll like, for instance, the Helman's Male One where
it was Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan reenacting when Harry
met Sally, and then Sydney Sweeney's I'll have what she's having.
If I had seen that for the first time yesterday,
I would have been like, oh hell.
Speaker 1 (39:48):
You know it was cool. But I saw it on
like TikTok to. You just explained why the company shouldn't leak, exactly.
Speaker 5 (39:54):
Like we had Seal on the show last week. We
watched the ad before he came on and knew about it.
But if I had Seed the oh my god, I
can't believe they made Seal a seal.
Speaker 2 (40:03):
Other observations, any commercial takeaways, let us know at eight
seven seven ninety nine on Fox.
Speaker 1 (40:09):
We'll get your feedback.
Speaker 2 (40:10):
I realized last night made me say, hmm, I guess
I'm gonna have to invest in some flair bottom jeans.
I guess they're coming back. As as of yesterday, those
bell bottoms were ugly on swing. They bell bottoms like
more of a flake bottom. I you know. Either way,
I'm wondering, Wow, is this the comeback? Does this mark
the star of I wanted.
Speaker 1 (40:30):
To see his shoes. I wanted to see what shoes
he's wearing ok they he was wearing platform shoes, like
can we hear okay? Platform nikesh?
Speaker 2 (40:37):
You know what?
Speaker 1 (40:37):
I thought it was interesting too.
Speaker 2 (40:39):
I noticed these things a lot, and I immediately noticed it,
and I'm shocked at like half the people at my
house were like, oh, yeah, I guess So you didn't
immediately notice the lower third graphic the score. It was
the most simple, very very basic. I didn't hate it.
You saw more of the field. It was the most basic,
simple Phi and Casey, no super bold and easy to follow,
(41:05):
hest package like a high school av package. Yeah, I
noticed it, it said. I saw a funny tweet it said,
who let Gronk design graphics package? But you know, it
seemed it seemed very simple, and of course people were
talking about that.
Speaker 4 (41:19):
Oh speaking of Gronk, remember Tom Brady running out of
the batteries. Oh that was yeah, and she's like, oh boy,
Gronk again and she walks off to change his batteries.
Speaker 1 (41:28):
Dur Cell commercial.
Speaker 2 (41:29):
So again, any of your takeaways from the game from
last night, you know, let us know at eight seven,
seven ninety nine on Fox And if you can't call
at Covino and Rich it's your super Bowl edition of
Things That Made You Go. So I want to talk
about Jalen Hurts and what does this do for his
image in your mind? Plus another quarterback in the news,
Aaron Rodgers thoughts on him next as well,
