Yes, we did.

Speaker 4 (01:01):
We did, and Ryan Smith on the ones and twos,
Papa bear to everyone else except me?

Speaker 1 (01:09):
Did should can Scataboo have? They've could have written a
better script for him instead of pushing him on Monday Night?

Speaker 6 (01:15):
Right, Yes, no, like everything was fine. He knew what
was going to happen. They go over things like this,
he will do with it. He didn't really push him,
push him like, it's all just like he took it well.
He was never to any type of danger. This is
all blown out of proportion.

Speaker 1 (01:31):
It's it's not blown out of proportion because you could
have gotten the same effect. There didn't have to be
a scuffle. There didn't like we know that the scuffle
isn't real. We are more interested in the beef. So
camp Scataboo standing up, you know what I mean? Put
your mind out of the gutter. I didn't even think that. No,
the only one that laughed out.

Speaker 4 (01:51):
Loud with the mic on right like not to himself.
We are mine?

Speaker 1 (02:00):
How do you have the highest laugh on a show
with MANSI like, man, that's amazing, that's fair. That was
that was out of nowhere. They didn't have to push him.
We got the message by them going face to face, Dan.

Speaker 4 (02:13):
What if I called in sick and told you, oh
I have I have a sore throw, I can't speak,
and you then see a video of me karaoke like
that's what this is true?

Speaker 1 (02:22):
Stories actually happened. So yes, oh it's not.

Speaker 4 (02:25):
Because of it.

Speaker 7 (02:26):
Why didn't you be like I thought?

Speaker 4 (02:27):
You couldn't talk? What are you doing?

Speaker 1 (02:30):
I can't talk, but I can sing?

Speaker 4 (02:31):
But I can sing?

Speaker 1 (02:32):
Please play Total Eclipse of the Heart.

Speaker 4 (02:35):
Yes, or what's another one? Eminem?

Speaker 1 (02:38):
And that's not singing?

Speaker 8 (02:40):
No?

Speaker 4 (02:40):
But what is it with doctor Dre? What's that song?

Speaker 9 (02:43):
Boh?

Speaker 4 (02:44):
Come on?

Speaker 5 (02:45):
Forgot about you?

Speaker 4 (02:46):
Forgot about Dre? That's what I would be doing in
a karaoke All right, I'm over there. The point is.
The point is there are things you can't do if
you call.

Speaker 1 (02:57):
Us exactly that you aren't a good look.

Speaker 4 (02:59):
It's just not a good look. You can do whatever
you wants, it's not a good look. Don't know your
eye over there, Rian Smith?

Speaker 1 (03:04):
You know what else is not a good luck? The
look is always talking about yourself. And I feel like
I need to give Shador Sanders a break, but somehow
it always comes back to him, and today named the
starter again, it's kind of by default. It's by injury,
which happens a lot. He's the next man up. Yes,

(03:25):
it's part of the business in the NFL. Yes, But
Shador Sanders is the starter in Cleveland Manci and he
was asked about how he's going to handle his first start.
And I was going to handle the week, and I
was going to handle the game against the Raiders. This
is what Shador had to say to reporters when he
spoke earlier today in Cleveland.

Speaker 10 (03:42):
My development, you know, is a player and everything and
mentally everything has to speed up due to the situation.
I did everything I need to. I'm doing everything I
need to prepare to be a bad version of myself
as possible. With the circumstances of everything, I'll be sped up.

Speaker 1 (03:58):
And that's great. You know.

Speaker 10 (03:59):
I like pressure. I'm just excited for everything. So I
feel like I'm the guy. I know him the guy.
But you know, you just have to be able to
see the game.

Speaker 1 (04:07):
Got to speak. I get the confidence, I get the
belief in yourself. I understand all of that. He is right,
His game does have to speak on Sunday. He does
have to step up to the to the plate. But
no matter the outcome come Sunday, Manti, there is gonna
be one group of people who are extremely happy, and

(04:28):
those are the U and there's gonna be one group
of people who are extremely disappointed. We don't know yet
because right now in the National Football League, shad Or
Sanders is probably the most polarizing player in the NFL,
with camps on both sides that want to point out
everything he does wrong and the camp on the other
side that want to point out everything that he does right.

(04:50):
But he's not the only player like in that microscope,
and there are players who have a lot more on
game film, have had a lot more actions on game
film that have this sort of backing. And I'm speaking
specifically of JJ McCarthy or the Minnesota Vikings. I feel
that there is this crowd of people who will still

(05:12):
support JJ McCarthy because they believe in him as a
quarterback for whatever reason, completely ignoring what we've seen on
tape of JJ McCarthy so far this season. And there's
another part maybe that I don't think it's as much
in the Shadure case. There may be people rooting against
JJ McCarthy, but it just hasn't been there yet. You

(05:33):
get hoolarizing opinions about two young quarterbacks in the National
Football League.

Speaker 4 (05:37):
Kellanny Sais. The first thing is, I would hate to
be a rookie quarterback right now in the NFL because
the scrutiny, the pressure that you are under, unless you
are a rookie quarterback that got dropped into a situation
where you knew you were going to sit, right Like,
that's different where you knew you were going to sit
and you were going to learn. But the ones I
get thrown into a situation where it's like, we want
you to go play and help us win when this

(05:59):
is your first he's in the NFL. I know for
j J McCarthy he got hurt last year, but you're right,
JJ McCarthy, from what we've seen, there's there's not a
lot of positive it To me, it looks like JJ
McCarthy like the game is moving still too fast for him,
which is unfortunate. Because he sat a whole season, you
would think he'd be a little bit more acclimated to
the NFL. But I the only the only thing that's.

Speaker 7 (06:22):
Different, I really feel like with JJ McCarthy, and maybe
why the criticism is not as loud as it is
for Shador Sanders right now. Is because JJ McCarthy, I think,
got got drafted by the Vikings and people were like, really,
JJ McCarthy, was he high on the board.

Speaker 4 (06:40):
No, he wasn't higher on many people's lists. He played
at Michigan, were they won not because of him?

Speaker 1 (06:46):
Well that that may or may not be the case,
but he was. I mean, he is a first round pick,
you know. I mean, so it's a surprising first round pick.
But there were other teams that were interested in JJ
McCarthy airsick, yes, yes, yes, as crazy as that sounds,
that there was a narrative around him. Now he didn't.

(07:09):
I mean he fell back because obviously Caleb Williams and
Jayden Daniels and Drake may were picked before, and Michael
Pennix was actually picked before he was. But the Vikings
ended up getting him at ten overall. And I think
they traded up a start, didn't They trade up one
spot to make sure so he was wanted. He was wanted.

(07:30):
But to your point, there were a lot of people
that were questioning whether JJ McCarthy would have been a
good quarterback. We didn't start to question Shadu or I
think as a whole until maybe the latter parts of
the draft process, maybe when we started to hear about
the botched interviews, the negativity there. But then the extreme

(07:51):
fall came on the draft day, which changed the entire narrative.
When mel Kiper has him as a top prospect and
he doesn't go to the fifth round and.

Speaker 4 (07:59):
Right doesn't go until days later and ever since, I
think you hit it on the thing where it's like
the story of Shador, though, has been the front story
for a while now, it's been pushed in front of
our faces. Well, JJ McCarthy has kind of been able
to cruise by because he was injured. He sat a year.
At this point, though, should JJ McCarthy receive the same

(08:22):
criticism or are you more questioning what the Vikings were
thinking from they want?

Speaker 1 (08:26):
I what I think is I think that they're the
With JJ McCarthy, there are people who are blind to
what they are seeing. Okay, with Shador, we haven't seen
it fair. So there's like there's this bit of an
unknown where you don't know which group is going to

(08:46):
end up saying that they're right, even though both will
probably try to take a Victory lap one way or
the other with JJ McCarthy his absence to me last year,
Manzi even said a lot for him not being there
now maybe we shouldn't hold it again him. But the
way that the Vikings have looked at JJ McCarthy, and
it hasn't been been in a great fashion, considering the

(09:07):
quarterbacking moves that they've made or decided to make, and
even flirting with Aaron Rodgers this past offseason, ultimately deciding
to go with JJ McCarthy. They aren't even necessarily convinced.
And I would say that that when we look at
JJ McCarthy, I just don't know how you can support
the guy right now in the quarterback that I compare
him to. And it's not apples to apples, but it's

(09:31):
not Shudoor Sanders. It's Anthony Richardson of the Colts. So
Anthony Richardson is in his third year. We've seen Daniel
Jones take over the job in an open competition this offseason,
and Daniel Jones ends up winning it partly because Anthony
Richardson wasn't available because of injury. And now it looks
like the Anthony Richardson era in Indianapolis is over. Anthony
Richardson came into the NFL with one season of college

(09:53):
football starting under his belt, and there was a lot
of talk about him trying to develop into that quarterback.
He couldn't and be one of the reasons why was
because he wasn't healthy. So that also stands to say
why the JJ McCarthy timeline in the sands of that
hour glass are running out because if he stinks, now

(10:16):
you've already waited long enough and you can't use the
injury as an excuse because guess what, now it's a
part of who he is as a player. So now
you're trying to develop an injury prone quarterback there right
now just isn't getting the football to the players that
need be. Like, so the clock is taking on JJ
McCarthy with ample evidence on why people would want to
jump ship. And no matter what other people say, and

(10:38):
I mean Manuelaccho says he has the clutch gene because
of his comeback that he had against the Bears again
in a game that they lost because the Vikings couldn't
cover a kick return. But still, what about the other
three quarters? What about the three quarters in Chicago to
start the season, in the games that you didn't play.
What about these other reps that he's been taking. What
about in Week two when he couldn't get anything done
against the Atlanta falconssly been nothing there to want to

(11:02):
think that JJ McCarthy is the Vikings quarterback of the future.
Yet for some reason, some people still believe that it's
all there because he's nine and he's JJ McCarthy, which
is absurd.

Speaker 4 (11:15):
It is a little bit absurd. I also feel like
that's people's personal self interest. Like if at the start
of when JJ McCarthy entered the NFL, if you were
one of those that there's like, yes, they made the
right decision, he's going to be a really good quarterback.
That you don't want to admit that you were wrong,
and so you're going to stand on it and say no, no, no,

(11:35):
he's fine, he's still good. What are you talking about.
Look at this one particular drive, look at it's there.
Because it's more about they don't want to be wrong,
they don't know. Nowadays, people don't want to admit that
they're wrong.

Speaker 11 (11:44):
They just want to be told that they're right, you're
right one hundred percent, that their take.

Speaker 4 (11:48):
That their take was right, and that they were first.

Speaker 1 (11:50):
And that's that's why you get But like you look
at someone like just take JJ McCarthy and what he
did at Michigan, Like there was a against Penn State
that they famously did not throw the football for the
final five and a half minutes of the football game.
Number one, if you can just run the ball and
get first downs and let the clock run to more

(12:11):
power to you. Yeah. Absolutely, advant There was also the
thought of, wow, they don't even they don't even trust
him to make any plays. They'll just continue to do this.
And his biggest cheerleader is probably Jim Harbaugh. Jim Harbaugh
is a cheerleader for everyone, and championing Justin Herbert's status
as a quarterback is as well he should. But I
think that we believed in the hype and that we thought, oh,

(12:34):
there he is unbeaten quarterback from Michigan. They as all
these tools when it really wasn't even there. Justin Fields
is about to be on his way out as the
starting quarterback in the NFL. Benched by the Jets today
Torodd Taylor's going to be the starting quarterback. Justin Fields
had a thirty nine touchdown past season, for Ohio State
with three interceptions. So there was actual footage that you

(12:57):
could watch of him throwing the foot ball around the yard. Now,
it didn't translate to the National Football League, but that
would give you a belief that maybe Justin Fields could
be that guy. And we haven't seen that with JJ
McCarthy really ever. And so that's the concern about it
and why I don't understand why there is still this

(13:18):
backing of JJ McCarthy. I get your point of like,
hey man, it's only been one year in two years,
and I think that you know, for what we've seen
of JJ McCarthy, his success is likely going to probably
have to come to another team because I don't know
how long the Vikings are going to have to settle
with this, because they didn't even want him seemingly entering
this year, it felt like, and now after this year,

(13:40):
when you let go of Daniel Jones and mac Jones
could be available out there, it's maybe going to come
somewhere else. I just don't know how you can have
that evidence now and still stick to it and say
that he's our guy, He's going to be the guy.

Speaker 3 (13:54):
I know.

Speaker 4 (13:54):
No, he's not the guy at least right now, he's
not the guy. But luckily for him, you're seeing these
other quarterbacks that are getting a second chance later in
their career and they are succeeding. So it doesn't have
to be the end of his career. But right now
he's not the guy and you have to just kind
of admit that to like help him grow.

Speaker 1 (14:13):
Yeah, Like I think Anthony Richardson, his career as a
starting quarterback is not over in the National Football League.
He's going to need to show that he's healthy. But
it's just probably not going to be in Indianapolis, right
There's gonna have He's gonna have to go somewhere. The
biggest problem that I think with JJ McCarthy is that
he's with the quarterback whisperer right right now. Like we

(14:34):
think that that Kevin O'Connell is the answer to all
quarterback woes. So if Kevin O'Connell can't fix JJ McCarthy
or make him into a viable quarterback, who else is
going to in the National FOOTBA Leagueyah, I'm sorry I referenced.

Speaker 4 (14:48):
Him by his name because that's what he is on
the field.

Speaker 1 (14:50):
Yes, I thought you were saying German like. No, like
he's saying right, which.

Speaker 4 (14:53):
Is another thing that's like, why are.

Speaker 1 (14:54):
You something that's that's a very good point.

Speaker 4 (14:58):
Why are something that's a no? We also Kevin O'Connell,
what is your nickname on the field? Nine? And we
need one for Kevin O'Connell.

Speaker 1 (15:07):
Nine, and oh I want that, which they would need
to go to make the playoffs. But there's only like
seven games.

Speaker 4 (15:16):
That's good, that's good. You know, I really don't know
what the Vikings do because he is not He is
not ready. He is clearly not ready.

Speaker 1 (15:25):
He stinks yeah.

Speaker 10 (15:26):
No.

Speaker 1 (15:26):
Often.

Speaker 5 (15:27):
The biggest warning sign for me is that, like Kevin
O'Connell has been able to make Josh Dobbs playable, like
Nick Mullins was playable, like Justin Jefferson, he doesn't. Every
wide receiver is wired eventually to start like sending tweets,
and he's starting to get frustrated. I don't care how
much he says, yeah, I believe in the kid. The

(15:48):
Vikings winning fourteen games last year was probably the worst
thing that could happen to McCarthy's development there because the
rest of that locker room is not on the timeline
of developing a rookie quarterback who frankly doesn't even look
like he's going to develop. There's nothing in j McCarthy's
game that makes you think, okay, that that's a guy
that's going to be a pro. Like Caleb Williams. Last
year struggled, but there were still times where you realize like, oh, yeah,
this guy went first overall for a reason.

Speaker 1 (16:09):
Well, Caleb Williams just has the physical traits that are
just off the charts, like he could. I don't even
think he's been great in Chicago this year, but he's
improved in Chicago this year. And when you watch him
just elude pressure and able to keep a play alive
and he's still got a rocket of an arm, all
of that is on full display. I don't, yeah, I don't.

(16:31):
I don't see that with with JJ McCarthy. And and
that's the like at least with at least with Shador.
He may go out and play well Sunday, like like
maybe it was, you know. Kevin Stefanski is also thought
to be a great guy that works with quarterbacks. However,
when you look at the track record and him running
Baker Mayfield out of town does look too good on

(16:52):
Kevin Stefanski's resume. So if Shador goes out and ends
up bawling, I don't know if it's going to be
in spite of Kevin Stefanski, but it probably probably should
be considering the lack of reps that he had gotten
up to that point. Granted, it's a tall task first
start in the NFL to get to play the Raiders. Sorry, Ryan,
but it's if Shad or Sanders has success. I don't

(17:13):
know if we can give Kevin Stefanski the full credit
on it considering the work that Shador hasn't done in practice.

Speaker 4 (17:19):
On the other side of that, if he does not
play well against the Raiders, it's gonna be awful for Shaudoor.
I think people are there it's like, you better perform
decent in your first outing because you are playing the Rails.

Speaker 1 (17:34):
Is a really good You know that that post is
a really good question because like, did he get a
benefit because the Ravens aren't a great defensive team right now,
but they're gonna be able to handle a guy who
hasn't had first team reps in practice? Like would you
ever rather have started out against a really good defense?
And then yes, because you're gonna have it. Yeah, so

(17:55):
you'd rather yes, face like.

Speaker 4 (17:57):
Denver correct first, like throw me, throw me to the
hardest defense, and then let me go see. Sure, absolutely,
So I feel like this it's kind of like a
double edged sword for Shador. It's like, this is a
good setup for you, but now you have to be
at least decent.

Speaker 1 (18:15):
Yes, there's there.

Speaker 4 (18:17):
There's not gonna be a lot of excuses if he
does not look at least decent in his first outing.
There is so controlled you know environment.

Speaker 1 (18:23):
Yeah, and you know Rich always likes to look at
the schedule here on Cavino and Rich. When you look
at the Browns schedule, they have the Raiders and then
they have the Niners and Titans at home, and then
you've got the Bears, Bills, Steelers, and Bengals. Isn't It's
not a murderer's row of defense. Yeah. I mean, granted,
week seventeen, you don't want TJ. Watt, you know, bearing

(18:44):
down your neck. However, at that point, shadeor Sanders if
he continues to start, which Adam Kaplan told us earlier
today on Fox Sports Radio, that this is Shador's job, yep,
for the rest of the season, as long as he
stays healthy. If that is the case, he's going to
have opportunities to do it against defense. And and this
is this is going to be the cat call of
all the Chador haters. They're going to say, well, he

(19:04):
did it against nobody. Well, when you're doing against five
or six nobodies, it also tells you the state of
the National Football League at that point that not every
team is the eighty five Bears or the Denver Broncos,
or the Houston Texans or Rams or Seahawks with really
good defenses this year. Not everybody is going to do that.
So if you can do something against a bad defense,
improve it, Chador's got an opportunity to do so. I

(19:24):
wouldn't say that the Bears are a great defense.

Speaker 4 (19:27):
But they're not the worst.

Speaker 1 (19:28):
No, But JJ McCarthy seemed, you know, perplexed by that.

Speaker 4 (19:32):
Yes, rattled.

Speaker 1 (19:33):
Yeah, yeah, and that's an issue.

Speaker 4 (19:35):
Yeah, absolutely, I don't know. We'll see what we're saying
about Shador Sanders come Monday.

Speaker 1 (19:40):
It'll be fun. It will be you know, you have
a game where the Eagles and Cowboys are playing in
that late window, but Brown's Raiders is going.

Speaker 4 (19:47):
To be one that you highlight.

Speaker 1 (19:49):
Yes, absolutely one. All Eyes, All Eyes on Las Vegas. Yep,
she's wants of Millennials. I'm Dan Byer in for Cavino
and Rich on this Wednesday. The guys were in for
DP early today, Dan Patrick. So that's why they aren't
here today. They're gonna be back in their normal time tomorrow.
Coming up next, She's Monty. I'm Dan. Mike Tomlin shows

(20:10):
you why everybody wants him as their head coach. That's
next year on Cavino and Rich on Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 9 (20:16):
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in
the nation yet. Catch all of our shows at foxsports
Radio dot com and within the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 3 (20:24):
Hey, we're Cavino and Rich Fox Sports Radio every day
five to seven pm Eastern. But here's the thing, we
never have enough time to get to everything we want
to get to.

Speaker 2 (20:33):
And that's why we have a brand new podcast called
over Promised. You see, we're having so much fun in
our two hour show. We never get to everything, honestly,
because this guy is over promising things we never have
time for. Yeah, you blubber list Jam and me.

Speaker 3 (20:47):
Well, you know what it's called over promise. You should
be good at it because you've been over promising women
for years.

Speaker 2 (20:52):
Well, it's a Cavino and Rich after show, and we
want you to be a part of it. We're gonna
be talking sports, of course, but we're also gonna talk
life and relationships. And if Rich and I are arguing
about something or we didn't have enough time, it will
continue on our after show called over Promised. Well, if
you don't get enough Covino and Rich, make sure you
check out over Promised and also uncensored, by the way,
so maybe we'll go at it even a little harder.

(21:13):
It's gonna be the best after show podcast of all time.
There you go, over promising. Remember you could see on YouTube,
but definitely join us. Listen to over Promised with Cadino
and Rich on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts or wherever
you get your podcasts.

Speaker 4 (21:27):
It's Covino and Rich here on Fox Sports Radio. But
the guys are out. I am onto Bilanos. He is
Dan Byer a little on Airbnb as the guys filled
in for the Dan Patrick Show this morning.

Speaker 1 (21:39):
Did I tell you about Sunday and my Survivor Pool?

Speaker 11 (21:44):
I think you did Tooni, Okay, so cause I saw
you on Sunday yeah, so survivor pick I picked the
Steelers over the Bengals, so I'm locked in the Steelers.

Speaker 1 (21:53):
Bengals And I even said to Montigne at the studio, Hey,
I'm running to get something to eat. I'll be right
back right So I drive two blocks. I don't, but
I just didn't want to walk two blocks. I wanted
to get back here. I wanted to get back here
in time, and it was more than two blocks, but
it probably wasn't more than four. The point being is
I wanted to drive down quick. So in the three

(22:14):
minutes that it took me to get here, to hop
into my car and to drive to the place, I
wanted to find out what was happening with the Steelers
Bengals game. And I'm like, let's get an update because
I need the Steelers to win. This is I gotta
stay alive. And the first thing that pops up on
my phone is Steelers dB Jalen Ramsey has been ejected
for throwing a punch, and I thought, of course, now

(22:36):
the Steelers were winning at the time, but I'm like, well,
if Jalen Ramsey's out in that portion of the game,
I didn't have the details of what happened. When I
found out the details, I understood why. But that's how
I was notified that Jalen Ramsey got ejected on Sunday.

Speaker 4 (22:50):
Yeah, when that story came out, then he was ejected
because he swung the first the first tweet was he's
ejected because he swung at Jamar Chase, and you were like, oh,
why would he do that? You look up the video.
There's video he swings on him, and you're like, oh, yeah, no,
I was a clear swing at Jamar Chase. That's why
you rejected. Okay. Oh wait, he's claiming Jamar Chase spit
on him. And then Jamar Chase comes out and is like,

(23:12):
I didn't even open my mouth. I didn't do that.
And then more video okay, and.

Speaker 1 (23:17):
Then the video comes out and you see the saliva
absolutely however you want to categorize it, but goes flying
in Jalen Ramsey. And while most coaches after a Sunday
will do their post mortem on Monday, get all the information,
Mike Tomlin and the Steelers they talk on Tuesday, and
Mike Tomlin was asked about the situation with Jalen Ramsey

(23:42):
and Jamar Chase yesterday about Ramsey's ejection from the game,
and this is what Tomlin had to say.

Speaker 9 (23:48):
I have no message, and someone spits in your face,
what comes natural.

Speaker 4 (23:56):
That's right, that's right.

Speaker 1 (23:58):
I know there people are frustrat with Pittsburgh's inability to
get back to a Super Bowl. I know they're frustrated
with their inability to maybe be the level of the
Kansas City Chiefs. However, it is that reason why so
many teams and so many players would bend over backwards
to play for Mike Tomlin. And honestly, considering how bad

(24:23):
the tenure went with Aaron Rodgers in New York, with
his hand picked offensive coordinator, with the people that he liked,
and everybody bowing down to him, it didn't work out
with the Jets. Yet now Rogers isn't the same quarterback
that he once was, but there have been no issues
with Aaron Rodgers or issues of infighting with the Steelers

(24:48):
because that relationship is solid. There's respect on both ends,
and it's why everybody loves Mike Tomlin.

Speaker 4 (24:56):
Great point, because I think at the start of the
season I wondered how tho two egos were going to
mesh well, because you know, Aaron Rodgers wants to be
the face of the team. He is in charge of it. He's,
you know, one of the unks. He probably feels that way,
but so is Mike Tomlin. I always wonder how that
was gonna work. And you're right, there have been no issues.
We've heard none of that. In fact, the Steelers are

(25:18):
at the top of their division when I think many
people dismiss them at the start of the season. But
Mike Tomlin, not only does he keep your team above
five hundred, not only does he keep your team in
the playoffs at least. Yeah, he has your back, yes,
and that is the biggest part of it. He's got
your back. And I have no problem with what he said.

Speaker 1 (25:39):
If he was at another team or another organization, they
probably would have moved on, like let's be honest, but
the Pittsburgh Steelers don't operate that way. I also don't
think that I think that Mike Tomlin would have much
more leeway than another coach would be even if it
was a different franchise and if you wanted to get
a fresh start. But we've seen, we've I've seen Hall

(26:00):
of Fame level head coaches move on. Pete Carolyn Seattle
I mean, brings them a Super Bowl as well, and
it comes a point where they're like, all right, we
need to kind of go in a different direction. That
hasn't happened in Pittsburgh. I've told you, Moncie, I've said
on the network, even as a Seahawks fan, if I
could have one coach or the coach that I do
really like, and I just I hate to say it,

(26:21):
it's Sean McVay. I just think that Sean McVay is
is so in tune with everything. He's so good offensively
in doing what the Rams do, and I think that
he works with his players just so well that if
Seattle didn't have Mike McDonald and they could make any
other other coach in the league, I'd love for them
to have Sean McVay. But like you take out the

(26:43):
offense like portion of it and just be of who
they are and setting the culture like it's it's Mike Tomlin.
And I think there are a lot of teams that would, Yeah,
they would, they would if Mike Tomlin ever became available.
That comment right there is why other owners would be
running to his door to make him their head coach.

Speaker 4 (27:02):
I think I love that you brought up Sean McVay
because I agree. I think he is a really good
coach and I think anyone would would swoop him up
if they had the opportunity. Same thing with with Mike Tomlin,
but for very different reasons. Like I feel like with
Sean McVay, the guys see him as one of the guys.
They respect him, but they see him as one of
one of them. And I feel like with Mike Tomlin,

(27:24):
obviously there's respect, but Mike Tomlin is more like he's
not one of the guys. He is there to oversee
the guys.

Speaker 1 (27:31):
Well, Sean McVay is.

Speaker 4 (27:32):
One of the guys I feel I'm just you know,
this is my take from being an outside a fan
here of the NFL that it just seems that way.
So for very different reasons, they have the support of
their players and yeah, Mike tom Like, I feel like
Mike Tomlin is probably quietly scary. Sean McVay is probably

(27:52):
gonna yell at me and be scary out loud. I
feel like Mike Tomlin is gonna yes, and Mike Tomlin's
just gonna give me a little yeah and no word,
and it's going to terrify me.

Speaker 1 (28:03):
Yes, it'll tear you apart, it will tear me apart.
But then this is the flip side that, all right,
somebody punches in your spits in your face, you do
what you gotta do.

Speaker 4 (28:12):
Yeah, yeah, I would. If somebody spin in my face,
I don't know what I would do. I would not
be able to keep it cool.

Speaker 1 (28:19):
And this is like Jalen Ramsey hasn't been a choir
boy throughout his career. No, We've seen him get into
altercations and having words, But in this scenario, Mike Tomlin
realizes that it's justified and and has his back. And
that's the like, that's the ultimate thing that you would
want in a head coach, especially with a veteran player

(28:41):
like Ramsey. But for Mike Tomlin to to almost turn
the other cheek and look the other way and all right,
do what you gotta do, it's really cool.

Speaker 4 (28:50):
It is in the In the few words that he used,
he made his point very clear. You didn't have to
have a backup question. You got what he was saying, Yes,
follow up, there's no follow up. You exactly knew what
he was trying to tell you with six words.

Speaker 1 (29:04):
Yes, gosh, he said, oh I forgot what he said
last year that was so good. It was he's he's
become the master of sound bites, whether he's tried to
be or not tried to be. But there was a
sound bite, but I can't even remember. But those words
that you just heard from Mike Tomlin were very, very effective.

Speaker 4 (29:23):
There's that that gift, that meme where it's like, we
do not care. Yeah, yeah, that's maybe we do not care.

Speaker 1 (29:31):
Yes, just the tone of the whole cadence of it. Huh, magnificent.
I don't like the Steelers. They beat the Seahawks in
Super Bowl forty and they should never have, so I
still have this angst towards them. But Mike Tomlin cool dude. Yeah, absolutely,
Isaac long Crown' is a cool dude. He's here to
give us the latest. What's happening on a Wednesday where

(29:51):
we've got quarterbacks in and out and everywhere. What's going on, Isaac?

Speaker 8 (29:54):
That's right, Dan, And honestly, we will start with all
those quarterbacks, including with the Cincinnati Bengals, because Joe Burrow
was a full participant in practice today for the first
time since sustaining a toe injury that caused them to
miss the last eight games. Meanwhile, Joe Flacco a limited
participant in practice today due to a right shoulder injury,
staying in Ohio. The Cleveland Browns named rookie Shadoor Sanders

(30:17):
their starting quarterback for Sunday's game at Las Vegas. Jets
named Tarrod Taylor their starting quarterback for Sunday's game against Baltimore.
The Atlanta Falcons confirmed quarterback Michael Pennix, Junior will need
season ending surgery for a partially torn left acl. The
Los Angeles Rams play safety Quentin Lake, tight end Tyler Higbee,
and offensive lineman Rob Havensnein all on injured reserve today.

(30:41):
The San Francisco forty nine Ers signed placekicker Matt Gay
through their practice squad. Finally, dand Monsei. In college football,
James Franklin held his introductory news conference at Virginia Tech
earlier today, which is trending not because of anything Franklin said,
but because of an unnamed booster who has heard laughing

(31:02):
a little too hard at anything remotely funny that Franklin said.

Speaker 1 (31:07):
Listen closely.

Speaker 3 (31:08):
Plays just seem to work better when you got really
good players.

Speaker 1 (31:12):
We had a running back we had a running back
at Penn State. Maybe you guys have heard of them
named say Kwon Barkley. Coaches get a lot of credit,
but this is this is a player's game. My favorites
are high production and low maintenance players, coaches and staff.

Speaker 4 (31:30):
This can of this is a This is not a guy.

Speaker 1 (31:36):
On stage with him? Was that? Was it Franklin's mic?
That was picking. Nobody knows.

Speaker 8 (31:41):
It had to be somebody who was relatively close to him, Mike.
That's why everyone thinks it was a booster. But the
mystery is on on social media. They're identifying private planes
there now, identifying the laugh patterns of boosters.

Speaker 1 (31:57):
It reminds me of the they laughing that goes on
in press rooms.

Speaker 5 (32:03):
It's always so true.

Speaker 1 (32:04):
When that coach or makes a joke that isn't that
funny but ha.

Speaker 8 (32:09):
And honestly, earlier in my career I was way guilty
of that. A player or coach said something remotely fun
just like Virginia check laugh out last right, and.

Speaker 1 (32:23):
Then you live. You live twenty years in broadcasting and there's.

Speaker 8 (32:27):
You don't cry a smile because your heart, your heart
is cold.

Speaker 1 (32:31):
You do it to hide the tears. That's what you do. Yes, yes,
not tears from laughter, just kidding.

Speaker 4 (32:38):
You know, Dan, If you fired me and I got
this giant buyout, the last thing I'm gonna go do
is get a new job so fast.

Speaker 1 (32:46):
Well, they negotiated a bio.

Speaker 7 (32:48):
Yeah no, no, no, no, I'd be like, all right, y'all,
I'm taking a year off.

Speaker 4 (32:52):
Holler at me.

Speaker 1 (32:53):
They got it down to nine million dollars they did.

Speaker 4 (32:55):
I know, but you could. Why are you take a second?
Why are you taking a job so fast?

Speaker 5 (33:01):
Is there a reason why he negotiated his bio down?
I haven't seen it. I'm assuming there's a reason.

Speaker 1 (33:06):
Well, I I think that there wasn't there offset language
in in the uh yeah yeah yeah, so essentially, And
I don't know what the financials were on the Virginia
Tech deal, but it was a win win for both sides. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (33:22):
I think it was like if he got another job,
this is what would happen, right, the buyout would, yes.

Speaker 1 (33:28):
But but there was Yeah, like Michael Scott, win win win.
It's not a win lose win. This was a win
win win. But I don't have the financial numbers.

Speaker 5 (33:37):
I'm taking all that money, I'm.

Speaker 1 (33:39):
Taking a vacation right, I'll talk to you in a year.

Speaker 5 (33:41):
I'm gonna go walk around or something made me go
coach at Blacksburg, Virginia kidding.

Speaker 1 (33:47):
Me, well, I'll tell you. You know, Isaac's talking about locker rooms,
and I'm sure covering Virginia Tech football probably hasn't been
fun for the last couple of years. I always tell
the story of when I first started out in the broadcast.
My my first like duty was to cover the Brewers,
and I would do it on a weekend basis because
I was based in Madison, and I would go this

(34:08):
is when the Brewer's stunk. This is three four, And
I would be there for the Saturday Sunday homestand games,
and the just locker room was miserable. Ben Sheets would
go out and throw eight innings of one run ball.
They'd lose, you know, two to one. Nobody's happy, nobody's
hitting people. It's just it was miserable. I didn't realize

(34:29):
till about I don't know, in June, because I wasn't
there every day, but I was. I was there on
the weekends that when they won, they played music in
the locker room and they all of a sudden won
a game that I was. I'm like, oh my goodness,
this is crazy. And I came in and there was like, oh, okay,
this is why we got music going on. Otherwise it
was like a morgane. Yeah, it was a funeral. When

(34:51):
you get those bad locker rooms, you don't want to
go in there. Gosh, everybody the play by played people.
Everyone just wants the season to end right and just
to get over with. So yeah, it's tough to deal with.

Speaker 4 (35:01):
And then the players are like, do you have any questions,
You're like.

Speaker 1 (35:03):
No, I hate I don't have any answers for you either.
I'm sorry they are bad. So maybe fake laughter, yeah
can cover up those tiers. There are no fun She's
Monty Belanio, so I'm Dan Bayer. It is Cavino and
Rich here on Fox Sports Radio. Shador Sanders is going
to start for the Browns against the Raiders coming up

(35:23):
on Sunday. There are now prop bets on Shador's first start.
We'll dive into those monci next here on Cavino and
Rich on Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 9 (35:32):
Fox Sports Radio had the best sports talk lineup in
the nation. Catch all of our shows at Fox sports

Speaker 4 (35:54):
Oh yeah, what's up, everybody? Cavino and Rich Fox Sports
Radio guys, We're in for Dan Patrick. So it's me
Anti bilanyasen Dan Bayer here. As we wrap up the show,
a lot of talk about Shador Sanders making his first
official NFL start debut, because we know he came in
injured in the second half this past week, his first

(36:16):
official official start, and the numbers, the betting props are
already a thing.

Speaker 1 (36:21):
They're already out there, and we've got some of them
on hand. Our executive producer Bo Benson can give us
some numbers on I know the Raiders are a four
point favorite, but there are other bets that we can
make specifically on Shador.

Speaker 5 (36:33):
Yeah. Of course, in twenty twenty five, you can bet
on everything, including first pitches. As we've learned in speaking
of Cleveland, this start one, this is just good will
Cleveland have an offensive touchdown in week twelve, Yes is
minus six hundred. No is plus three point fifty. So
Shuldar Sanders's going to go out there and just not

(36:55):
do anything for forty five minutes, sir.

Speaker 1 (36:57):
So they didn't have one against the Ravens last week, right,
and I mean it's minus six hundred for Yes. Yeah, yeah,
I don't. I know the Raiders have Max Crosby. But
at least some point, maybe Quinch.

Speaker 4 (37:12):
And Judge say it doesn't have to necessarily be Shador
yes who provides this offensive touchdown.

Speaker 1 (37:18):
There's probably gonna be a Geno Smith interception Ryan Papa
Bear at some point, but that wouldn't be offensive. But
at least an interception that could set the bronze up,
it will be very offensive.

Speaker 5 (37:28):
Actually, I think I think Brian No mentioned on Countdown
that one of his favorite props is yes on Geno
interceptions because it happens almost every single week.

Speaker 4 (37:36):
So feels that way.

Speaker 5 (37:37):
Yeah, what is Shoudar Sanders throw first? A touchdown plus
one to ten or an interception minus one forty?

Speaker 1 (37:43):
Oh that's that that's hard.

Speaker 4 (37:46):
Well, yeah, it's almost not fair.

Speaker 1 (37:49):
You're getting minus money on the interception, which is crazy
I'm gonna say touchdown. I think it'll be very conservative.
And so if he does, if they get that offensive touchdown,
which is minus six hundred, then I think that it
could be a pass play, could be a bootleg, could
be just Harold Fannin out there two yards touchdown.

Speaker 4 (38:10):
Browns would love that for my fantasy team because Sam
Laporte is injured. Would love that.

Speaker 10 (38:15):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (38:15):
I think I'm with Dan. I feel like they're gonna
set him up for success. What happens after that is.

Speaker 1 (38:22):
You know, would you have been surprised if the line
was plus three hundred on if he throws the touchdown?
Like like, that wouldn't have shocked me. I know it's
like way out there, but this is only plus one ten.
If it was plus three hundred, I would have been like,
and I know that sounds very disrespectful to should do.
It's not meant to be, but I would have been like, Okay, yeah,
it's it's it's the Browns.

Speaker 5 (38:44):
If you took his name off of it and you
just said a fifth round rookie quarterback for the Cleveland
Browns to throw a touchdown, you would not get us.

Speaker 4 (38:52):
Yes, correct, Yeah, good point.

Speaker 5 (38:54):
Uh, let's see uh over under sacks taken three and
a half.

Speaker 1 (38:58):
Oh, that's over. Max Crosby may have three and a
half by by.

Speaker 4 (39:02):
Himself, by himself. Yeah. How many times did he get
sacked in this past week?

Speaker 5 (39:07):
Yeah? I think at least twice. I watched a couple happen.

Speaker 9 (39:11):
Uh.

Speaker 5 (39:11):
Longest completion over under twenty seven and a half yards.

Speaker 4 (39:14):
Well, I'll take the over on that one. Based on
the very short sample side, I feel like he wants
to throw the ball.

Speaker 5 (39:20):
Yeah, he wants wants to throw it deep.

Speaker 4 (39:22):
He wants to throw Yeah, he wants to throw deep exactly.

Speaker 1 (39:24):
Yeah, there's kind of a there's the no conscience throwing
deep feel. Plus we saw him he did it. Yeah,
it Fannin on the on that one.

Speaker 10 (39:33):
Yay.

Speaker 1 (39:34):
Yeah, I'll go the over on that one.

Speaker 4 (39:36):
Yeah for sure.

Speaker 1 (39:38):
Okay.

Speaker 5 (39:39):
Completion percentage fifty seven and a half over and over under.

Speaker 1 (39:42):
I'm gonna say, gosh, now we just talking about him
throwing long, so I'm gonna say he completes it, but
I think a lot of them will be shorter. I
would I would say yes, I would say I would
take the over on that.

Speaker 4 (39:54):
I feel like it's gonna be under but not by
a lot, like he will be over fifty percent, but
I don't know if it's pushing sixty.

Speaker 5 (40:02):
Yeah, do we do passing touchdowns?

Speaker 4 (40:05):
No?

Speaker 5 (40:06):
Over under half a passing touchdown? So is he going
to throw a touchdown against the Raiders?

Speaker 4 (40:11):
I do think he will throw one touchdown?

Speaker 1 (40:13):
Yes, yeah, you have to. Yeah, I think so too,
after just seeing what the Raiders provided against the Cowboys.

Speaker 4 (40:21):
Yeah, absolutely, absolutely.

Speaker 1 (40:23):
Oh no, it's a different story, but yes, I would
say I would take the over as well. And what
about the excuse me passing yards? Do we have passing yards?
I believe is it's right here somewhere and a half
under under. There's no way he throws for two hundred yards.
No way, unless there is a screen pass that goes

(40:45):
for seventy eight yards for a touchdown, there's no way
it's over.

Speaker 4 (40:52):
Yeah, I mean it could be over one fifty five
under two hundred, but it would be like, yeah.

Speaker 1 (40:57):
Somebody writes the tackle seventy eight a week twelve win
against the Raiders.

Speaker 4 (41:01):
That's what you're thinking, Yeah, something like that.

Speaker 1 (41:04):
Yeah, Well, the plenty of lines, and I'm telling you
that's going to be the focus of so many eyes
coming up on Sunday Mancia. It's been fun. We'll do
it again always if you know what to rich back
tomorrow here on Fox. Bye.

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
