Speaker 1 (00:22):
There was a game last night we got to talk
about it. Oh yeah, the question.
Speaker 3 (00:25):
Really is Drake May? Is him or is he because
we don't quite know.
Speaker 1 (00:33):
It's the big question today and I'm hearing to tell
you that I think he is.
Speaker 3 (00:37):
Well.
Speaker 2 (00:38):
Keep in mind you could be prisoner of the moment.
You can't deny that the guy is great. But people
live in a world of headlines and people love to
say things like he's.
Speaker 3 (00:50):
The next Tom Rady. I mean, I will admit this.
Speaker 2 (00:57):
They didn't struggle really that long, Like they found their
guy immediately. It's like a guy who lost his wife
and then found another hot one a few years later.
It happened really quick. There was no really downtime and
down period for the Patriot. There was some Cam Newton
years in there, but it seems like they are back
and in full force again, beating the Jets yesterday to
(01:18):
kick off Week eleven, twenty seven fourteen. They're now nine
and two. But if you read like what people are
saying on social media, like Tom Brady was cloned, man,
he's Tom Brady? Is he really Tom Brady?
Speaker 3 (01:30):
Is he him?
Speaker 2 (01:31):
As the kiddo say as Rich just said eight seven
seven ninety nine on Fox, that's the question.
Speaker 4 (01:35):
Plus there's a whole story about his wife.
Speaker 3 (01:37):
Well, here's the thing.
Speaker 1 (01:39):
When you ask yourself, is Drake May the real deal? Essentially,
you gotta remind yourself. Yet he was a top level pick.
It's not like he's some guys just like got lucky.
Speaker 4 (01:51):
I get it, you know.
Speaker 2 (01:52):
They not a surprise. But not everybody pans out either.
As you see in the NFL, people love.
Speaker 1 (01:57):
To say, we'll look at their schedule, it's week and
I and I will forever hate that argument because you
only play who's on your schedule.
Speaker 3 (02:04):
You can't dictate and be like.
Speaker 1 (02:05):
We want tougher competition. You play who's on your schedule.
And if you think back Danny g Week one, the
Patriots lost to your Raiders.
Speaker 3 (02:14):
Yo, what up?
Speaker 4 (02:14):
Danny g Oh?
Speaker 5 (02:16):
Yeah, Gino Smith looked excellent in that game.
Speaker 1 (02:19):
And we thought, like, oh man, Patriots, what a rough week.
One they lost to the Raiders. Then we thought, for
a minute, your Raiders might be good. Since then, get this,
Since then this team is gone.
Speaker 4 (02:32):
One nine in one.
Speaker 2 (02:34):
Drake May stepped up and again they're playing the gets
two hundred and eighty one yards one tuddy but just
looking solid, and the whole team sort of vibes around them.
They're four and two at home and nine and two overall.
The Patriots are the real deal. Of course, there's the Cults,
of course, Theirs, the Broncos, of course there's the Chiefs.
Speaker 4 (02:56):
But gotta be high on the Patriots.
Speaker 2 (02:58):
Is he the guy or are we just really excited
that he could be or appears to be, or seems
to be the next Tom Brady.
Speaker 1 (03:05):
Well in a world where everyone clearly loves to gamble,
that's another storyline in the world of sports lately.
Speaker 2 (03:11):
He's gonna hate that comparison, if not speaking out about
it already. It's like filling really big shoes. It's like,
let me just be the best Drake May I could,
because you're never gonna like being compared to Tom Brady
is the worst thing in the world. It's like, and
I hate to give you a Yankee example, it's like,
who was always gonna follow Jeter? That was always a conversation.
That's what vault he's haunted by. Right now, look.
Speaker 1 (03:34):
At the odds right now via DraftKings Sports book, Drake
May is your favorite to win the MVP.
Speaker 3 (03:43):
I repeat, Drake May is your favorite to win the MVP.
Speaker 1 (03:46):
So I look at this as an opportunity to say,
what's the better bet? Because Danny j dan Byer I
was sam our team back in LA. Can we all
agree that, like, we're not quite sure that is the result?
Fast forward the second half of the year. Is ian
Would you be confident in chest?
Speaker 6 (04:03):
All?
Speaker 1 (04:03):
Right?
Speaker 3 (04:03):
Yeah? Would you do?
Speaker 2 (04:04):
Narratives change week to week? And you know this because
we talk about it. You know, he could all of
a sudden have a few bad games and then we're
saying Drick May might be ass That's just how the
sports world works.
Speaker 4 (04:16):
It's a very fickle fan base.
Speaker 2 (04:18):
We love to cheer people when they're hot and tear
them down when they stink.
Speaker 3 (04:23):
So we'll see, it's still way early.
Speaker 2 (04:25):
I mean even though it's week eleven already, but anything
can happen in the next few weeks.
Speaker 3 (04:29):
Why don't you do what you do best? Schedule watch?
Oh Sam, I have to do it. Cou we schedule watch.
Speaker 4 (04:35):
Maybe let's break it down, let's figure it out.
Speaker 7 (04:37):
Oh boy, the rich loves to look at the schedule,
game schedule watching.
Speaker 1 (04:42):
Yeah, sketu figure it out watching. All right, let's take
a look at where the Patriots go from here, because
you could say, all right, Willson, they're nine and two.
They play at the Bengals. That is a winnable game. Yeah,
ten and two, they play the Giants in New England.
Eleven and two they play the Bills. Let's assume the
(05:04):
Bills and pat split eleven and three. Okay, the Ravens,
who are fighting right, they're back on track. Maybe eleven
and four.
Speaker 3 (05:11):
We'll do that, okay, Yeah, Jets.
Speaker 1 (05:13):
Twelve and four, Dolphins who will be probably playing for nothing.
This Patriots team could go thirteen and four. And then
you're saying, well, that seems like a possibility that Drake
may could be your MVP if he continues to play
the way he's been playing. But let me give you
the Vegas odds of other guys in the mix.
Speaker 2 (05:32):
And he plays some stinkers. Paddon knows numbers playing the
Jets again, and yeah, so if he keeps it up,
that's definitely gonna be the conversation.
Speaker 4 (05:43):
I mean, it is all right.
Speaker 1 (05:44):
Ask yourself and you guaranteed that it's a quarterback, Danny
g I mean, we've talked about this.
Speaker 4 (05:48):
What do you think is it is? It could be
a lot of buzz round tailor.
Speaker 5 (05:51):
I was just gonna say, I sent you guys the
side by side comparison with Adrian Peterson the last time
a running back won the MVP for the league twenty twelve.
Taylor's on track right now to better Adrian Peterson's numbers
from that MVP season.
Speaker 2 (06:07):
And he's getting the chance and he's getting the looks
and he's getting people talking.
Speaker 4 (06:11):
It's sort of a bit of a campaign.
Speaker 1 (06:13):
I mean to quote my cousin Vinnie. The stats are
almost ah dentical. But Jonathan Taylor right now plus six
hundred if you want to play gambling man, if you
want to be uh Kenny Rodgers, if you want to
be the gambler, he's plus six hundred right now. The
favorite to an MVP is Drake May at plus two
thirty five. And if you're not a gambler. That means
you bet one hundred, you win two thirty five. Right now,
(06:34):
Jonathan Taylor plus six.
Speaker 4 (06:37):
Hundred, you bet one hundred My money on that.
Speaker 2 (06:39):
That's six hundred not you know how so up and
down this season has been.
Speaker 3 (06:43):
Let me give you the top four, Taylor at plus
six hundred.
Speaker 4 (06:46):
People were high on the Patriots a few weeks ago.
I mean on the Steelers a few weeks ago.
Speaker 1 (06:50):
Mahomes plus five hundred. Drake May's number one at two
thirty five. I feel like the bet, and it's not
even the greatest odds to gamble with, but I feel
like Matthew Stafford's MVPY. Matthew Stafford plus two point fifty.
Speaker 2 (07:04):
Remember the other to night, his great season, but his
story isn't as fun and as exciting as Drake May.
Speaker 4 (07:11):
Right now, well, guess what to reference?
Speaker 1 (07:13):
Your own bonehead, your own Yankees, Aaron Judge, what did
you say yesterday? It's not about the story, bro, It's
about how good you are. Because if it was about
the story, cal Raley would be MVP. So it's not
about the story. Who cares if Drake May is a
better story? Matthew Stafford, right now, you want to hear this.
This is wild, get this, break it down, because again,
not enough people.
Speaker 2 (07:34):
Look, we live the social media life and we follow
the buzz and we feel the hype and we talk
to our friends and I chop it up at the
barber shop. You're the only guy I know that's saying
this right now. Well, I mean Vegas has him number two.
But listen to this.
Speaker 1 (07:49):
And by the way, everyone's wife now is a star,
right Matthew Stafford's wife does a podcast. Drake May's wife.
We're gonna get to her in a second. She's like
the sweetest.
Speaker 2 (07:57):
Little podcasts are like bungholes, Like bung holes. You're right,
everybody has one and most of them stink.
Speaker 1 (08:05):
Drake May's wife is on social media doing little recipes
and everyone's loving her. She's the first lady of New England.
They're saying that he posted in twenty twenty when they
were both so young. He's like breaking in the twenty
twenties with a ten and they're saying they're the most adorable,
like small town field couple, quite the opposite of Tom
Brady and Giselle. So Drake May, Everyone's wife. If you're
(08:28):
a superstar, quarterback. Look at a you know, if you
want to talk about Justin Herbert, he's in your top
five or six MVP voting him and Madison Beer. So
you're an NFL quarterback these days, it's almost shocking if
you're not aware of who their wife or girlfriend is.
The Wags, let's talk about Matthew Stafford's stats good because
this guy's always been really good. I mean, he's a
(08:50):
guy that's gonna be a Hall of Famer.
Speaker 2 (08:51):
They were talking about when Clayton Kershaw recently. I forget
who was but I saw him being interviewed and he
was like, dude, I go to watching me with the
high school together and grew up together. Which is crazy
that went to the high school with great nobody, right, they
grew up together the high school.
Speaker 3 (09:07):
The fact Greek guy named Gus.
Speaker 1 (09:10):
Most people you don't go to high school with a
bunch of nobody's these two competing together, two superstars from
the same high school. It's like when you hear Adam
Sandler's roommates with him. He was John up at jud Appatown.
Speaker 2 (09:21):
It's like it's like when you see the Charlie Sheen
documentary and he grew up with Chris and Sean Penn
and George Clooney.
Speaker 4 (09:26):
It's like I grew up with nobody. My friend's a
week right.
Speaker 2 (09:30):
So Clayton Kershaw was like, I can't imagine you see
me hobbling out. He almost had a heart attack cheering
that they won the World Series. He goes, I can't
believe that my buddy I went to high school is
still competing at this level. And you know, it is remarkable.
Not enough people are talking about how great he is.
Speaker 1 (09:46):
For the age he is. He is thirty seven years old. Yes,
but you saw Clayton Kershaw on the Field Series and
you felt how many years he played. You felt like
they when Clayt Kershaw came to that game, they met
his whole wheeled out like Whitey Ford or something.
Speaker 3 (10:02):
It felt like it was the oldest dude on planet Earth.
Speaker 2 (10:04):
So the fact that he's still playing quarterback in the NFL,
that dude couldn't even get on the mound anymore.
Speaker 1 (10:09):
Let it be known that right now, Matthew Stafford has
twenty five touchdowns two interceptions.
Speaker 3 (10:19):
That is by far the best having a career season.
Speaker 1 (10:21):
He's having a career year, and he's already in my
mind a Hall of Famer, and I don't want to
say waste it away, but he's a guy.
Speaker 3 (10:30):
He's a guy that.
Speaker 1 (10:33):
For years in Detroit, right, for years and years and
years in Detroit, this guy just put up big numbers.
Speaker 3 (10:40):
On a team that really wasn't doing much.
Speaker 1 (10:42):
He goes to the Rams, wins the Super Bowl, and
every year he's in the mix.
Speaker 3 (10:46):
So you could argue that Matthew Stafford is your.
Speaker 2 (10:49):
MVP eight seven, seven ninety nine out Fox That storyline,
for whatever reason, though, isn't as juicy or as exciting as.
Speaker 1 (10:58):
We found our next Tom Braid. It doesn't matter if
he's the MVP. But is Drake I'm just saying, is
Drake May the guy?
Speaker 3 (11:04):
Is he? You know?
Speaker 5 (11:05):
What?
Speaker 3 (11:05):
Is he on the field?
Speaker 2 (11:07):
Here's my impression and I'm say this respectfully.
Speaker 3 (11:13):
Yeah, his record.
Speaker 2 (11:15):
The way his team rallies around him, his stats, his
winning attitude, the beautiful story about his wife, all those
things he said. Can't deny it, can't take it away.
I think as far as star power, just personality, he
just seems too too star too normal, an average of
(11:35):
a guy, you know, like Tom Brady. You can say
the same thing about Tom.
Speaker 1 (11:38):
Brady, but tom Brady was like next level handsome and
he stood out.
Speaker 4 (11:41):
I don't.
Speaker 2 (11:41):
I don't feel like he stands out that much on
the field. He does, but he's not. He doesn't have
the charisma to be that big of a star right now.
Speaker 4 (11:50):
Or is that just because he's young? What do you think?
Do you see what I'm saying? Did you say what
I'm saying.
Speaker 2 (11:55):
I'm not saying you judge MVPs based on that, but
I'm saying, is he the next face of the league?
Speaker 4 (12:01):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (12:02):
There is a great article. He's putting up great numbers.
That's all that matters. The article about what Drake May
is doing in New England, and I actually wrote it down.
Speaker 2 (12:09):
And I'm Drake made to be like a bit boring.
That's That's really what I'm saying. In the nicest way,
guess what he wins and that's all that matters. I
get that you're not wrong.
Speaker 1 (12:17):
And I say that because the article that I read, Yeah,
and it wasn't just a headline.
Speaker 3 (12:20):
Get this guy's I actually read the article.
Speaker 1 (12:23):
His teammates are saying his best quality is I'm gonna
say word, your mom's gonna get mad because it's not
a real world humbleness. It's humility, you idiot. No, they're
saying that he is humble, and I respect chill. Please
understand humble and chill. I respect that. But this is
the NFL, and I feel like you need a little
bit of uh, I don't know, a little bit of
(12:45):
give me a better word.
Speaker 4 (12:46):
Than pizzazz rich. I think I want you to go
with pizzazz.
Speaker 2 (12:49):
I think I want you to stick with you know,
and and all that matters, Moxie, there you go, you know,
all that matters is right now. He's approaching three thousand
yards twenty tuddies, he only has five picks.
Speaker 3 (13:00):
He's slaying it.
Speaker 4 (13:01):
He's a stud.
Speaker 2 (13:01):
He's a six foot four, two hundred and twenty five
stallion on the Patriots.
Speaker 4 (13:05):
So I'm not trying to downplay him.
Speaker 2 (13:07):
It's like when someone's that good, you look for something
to nitpick on. I find that to be an important
quality though, as a leader or face of a team
in the NFL, and as a quarterback. You know how
Colin Cowherd often talks about quarterback face. He has the face,
but does he have that sort of not not leadership? Moxie,
good one, Sam, And is that important. No, but that's
(13:29):
my only criticism, which is a good thing. That's a
good thing. Believe me, I'm not hating. I'm just stating
so Drake May. The question is if we're asking, is
he him? That's my only critique? Does that matter? No,
it's a win now league and he's winning and that's
all that matters. I'm just letting you know how I feel.
There's a little sense of boring when it comes to him.
Speaker 3 (13:50):
That may change.
Speaker 1 (13:52):
He's winning, but he's a boring a little bit. Well,
is Drake May him? Yes or no? And oft the
PA it's for real, that is know what you think
eight seven seven, nine nine nine Fox.
Speaker 3 (14:03):
I think they are.
Speaker 1 (14:04):
I think that we hate to think they are because
usually I've said this before, when a team is a dynasty,
the rest of the league loves it when they suck
for a good five plus years to really find their
footing again. It really seems and you know what, it's
because time's flying to we forget that Tom Tom Brady
played three years for the Bucks.
Speaker 3 (14:24):
He's been retired a few years.
Speaker 1 (14:26):
It's it's been about that period of time for the
Patriots to rebuild. I think we just forget times flying.
It's not like Tom Brady was there two years ago.
Speaker 4 (14:34):
He went to the Bucks. They sucked and now they're good.
Speaker 3 (14:37):
Brady had a whole stint with the Bucks. He's been
retired for years.
Speaker 4 (14:40):
It's not true.
Speaker 3 (14:41):
It's you know, it's like remember when we turn around quick?
Speaker 1 (14:44):
Yeah, things do turn around quick. Let me give you
a little blind comparison. I know Colin loves to do this.
These four quarterbacks have They're all within a couple hundred yards,
twenty eight hundred, twenty four hundred, twenty three hundred, twenty
six hundred, twenty touchdowns, five interceptions, twenty five touchdowns, two interceptions,
seventeen and five and nineteen and eight. And that's May,
(15:07):
Stafford Mahomes, and Justin Herbert. Those are the four guys
were talking about. They're not that far away from each other, right, So,
I mean, Drake May could be MVP Gratulations.
Speaker 2 (15:19):
And I do like the story, like you said, the
other side story, aside from him doing it again last
night and being the guy is he him is?
Speaker 5 (15:26):
The question?
Speaker 2 (15:27):
Is the nice story of his wife Anne is the
total opposite of what New England was used to with Giselle.
Oh yeah, they're saying that he's like the very community
based she's doing cooking recipes. That's not just the contrast
between him and his wife and Brady and his wife
(15:47):
and what New England was used to, what they were
accustomed to, and now they got Anne who seems to
be fitting in and they seem to be to be
embracing the story to be So your thoughts at A
seven seven ninety nine on Fox and of course if
you're driving home, you hit us up later at Covino
and Rich.

Speaker 8 (16:58):
Now I do.
Speaker 3 (16:58):
Before you get to it, I have one last thought.
Speaker 4 (17:00):
Yeah, let's hear it.
Speaker 3 (17:01):
I was listening to that promo of Dan Patrick the
way you gotta love and respect. You gotta respect to Patrick.
Speaker 2 (17:09):
We're filling in next Wednesday morning in for DP, So
wake up early with.
Speaker 3 (17:13):
Us dp's show Wednesday right here on Fox.
Speaker 4 (17:17):
Sports Radio DP with Covino on Wretch.
Speaker 3 (17:19):
What but No?
Speaker 1 (17:20):
I heard him say last night if you would have
put A twelve on Drake May's jersey, there were times
in the pocket where you would have said, oh, look,
they're showing highlights of Tom Brady.
Speaker 3 (17:30):
He's composed and know what. We're forgetting That's what I'm saying.
Speaker 4 (17:33):
And he doesn't want that though.
Speaker 3 (17:34):
I think he just wants to be.
Speaker 4 (17:36):
The best Drake May he could be.
Speaker 3 (17:38):
I just want to be compared to TV twelve.
Speaker 1 (17:41):
I think we're forgetting sometimes that last year there were
times where we're like, yo, look at the guts and
Huevos on Drake May. We forget that there were glimmers
last year where we felt like, you know, this kid's
got some balls.
Speaker 3 (17:52):
I like this guy.
Speaker 1 (17:53):
Yeah, And there were moments where Drake May did look
really good.
Speaker 3 (17:57):
I like him.
Speaker 2 (17:58):
Everybody likes the numbers speak for themselves. He's winning us
all that matter too.
Speaker 1 (18:01):
He's twenty three years old, and last year, when you
look at rookie quarterbacks, everyone from Justin Herbert to Matthew
Stafford to Peyton Manning to Drew Brees, all these guys
back in the day Tom Brady, they're td to interception ratio,
their turnovers.
Speaker 3 (18:17):
All this stuff is not good.
Speaker 1 (18:19):
Last year Drake May on a losing team. Fifteen touchdowns,
ten interceptions. Like for a guy that had a pretty
decent rookie year, we're acting a little too surprised.
Speaker 4 (18:31):
And only five picks this year.
Speaker 1 (18:32):
We're acting surprise that he's having a pretty damn good year.
At this pace, he's gonna end up right now, they're saying,
at this pace when you just do the math, right,
he led up with thirty something tuddies, like, you know,
less than twenty picks, Like he's got a really solid
year and the Patriots fourteen.
Speaker 2 (18:49):
To fifteen allions based on the schedule. If he just
joined us, and if my only criticism right now is
he appears to be a little bland and boring, he's
not that flashy, then maybe that's a good thing. Maybe
that's refreshing for the NFL. Like, if that's my only criticism,
that is a good thing. I'm stretching and I'm reaching
to find something that the one last thought about that
(19:11):
isn't great. I totally forgot something.
Speaker 1 (19:12):
We said, we act as though the Patriots were a dynasty,
sucked for a year, and now they're just great again.
It feels that way, though, But they went through Cam Newton.
My dude, I'm a Niners fan. I forgot that. Like,
oh yeah, the whole mac Jones grand opening, grand closing.
That was in there too. So it's not like it
happened overnight. It's been a good five years of like,
(19:34):
all right, what are we doing here? And now the Patriots,
like any good run organization, found their way back to
success nine and two, only nine win team. They got
the Thursday game, of course, but they're they're ready to roll.
Speaker 8 (19:44):
Man.
Speaker 2 (19:45):
We'll say, are we prisoners of the moment. Are we
just loving the story? Are we just yearning and searching
for the next Tom Brady?
Speaker 3 (19:51):
Or is he him?
Speaker 2 (19:53):
Is the question and your answers, We appreciate it, you
know what? Any other thoughts, Danny g Iowa, Sam dan By, Yeah,
fellas chime in and of course eight seven to seven
ninety nine on Fox before I give you my miserable update.
Speaker 5 (20:05):
Covino, you asked that question. Are you a prisoner of
the moment?
Speaker 8 (20:09):
Yeah? Or not?
Speaker 5 (20:10):
I think it's a little bit of both. I think
May is legit. The Patriots are not battle tested yet,
but they're not as bad in the past five season
seasons as we think either. I was looking it up
forty two and thirty three the past five seasons. Yeah,
so not as bad as what we think. But as
a Raiders fan, I'm not ready for the Patriots to
(20:32):
be good again. Like as a hater on the Patriots,
I want them to stink for like two or three
more seasons as.
Speaker 2 (20:37):
Great as they were for so long. I feel like
they should stink a little more. But that's just not
how it's going. Well, that's sorry, New England.
Speaker 1 (20:44):
That's I mean, that's the scent of it in all sports, right,
like when a team is so good for so long,
like there will be a time and I know this
sounds ridiculous, but there'll be a time where Mahomes is done,
Kelsey's retired, Andy Reid calls it a day, and the
Chiefs stink again. They will stink. And imagine if within
a few years they find their next guys and you're like,
what do what this supposed to suck for longer? I
(21:05):
think we just thought that the Pats would suck for
longer because when we were kids, they.
Speaker 3 (21:09):
Sucked for a long time. No, absolutely, they sucked for
a long time.
Speaker 2 (21:12):
Hey, so hey, props, major props when we're talking about
this game comparing him to Matthew Stafford. Stafford's having a
career year. He's doing something right. So believe me if
you think I was trying to take something away from
him before, I'm not well.
Speaker 1 (21:27):
We talked about that MVP race and right now Vegas
has Drake May favored Dan Bayer. Seahawks will have a
lot to do this weekend with whether or not Matthew
Stafford is still towards the top of that conversation, because
Rams Seahawks, that is the best game of the week.
I know you might say, well, what about Denver and
you know the Chiefs. I'm telling you that Seahawks rams game.
(21:47):
I am so intrigued because they're both seven and two.
Who's who's gonna take this week to tell the rest
of the NFL. Yo, We're it, So we'll see.
Speaker 9 (21:58):
Sam Darnold was not men in your guys conversation and
I will right, But I don't know if he should
be necessarily.
Speaker 5 (22:07):
I think that it's easy.
Speaker 2 (22:08):
It's been like, Oh, he's more elite than anyone gave
him credit for.
Speaker 1 (22:12):
That's been the storyline with him. Is that fair?
Speaker 9 (22:15):
And and well he was in the conversation last year.
I just I've been complaining about the turnovers. And this
may be just being a fan of the team and
thinking that the glass is always half empty. But my argument,
if you look even further down the list, you're gonna
see Jackson Smith and Jigba.
Speaker 5 (22:31):
That's the only guy.
Speaker 9 (22:31):
Donald throws two like there's no one else there, and
they don't have much of a running game, So anything
that they do offensively is really based on the success
of Jackson Smith and Jigba. So when I see like
Donald so high up I'm like, JSN should be up
as well. And you talk about Jonathan Taylor challenging rushing marks.
JSN is challenging receiving marks this season. So I'm surprised
(22:56):
he's not going to win it. But I'm just surprised that.
Speaker 1 (23:00):
I think Sam Darnold, if anything, should be getting a
hell of a lot more credit than he gets because people.
Speaker 2 (23:06):
Are like, oh, you have to se him on us though,
Rich thank you Dan Byer for bringing that up, because
for whatever reason it is, it's it's overlooked quite often
on this show, and it's on a lot of media platforms.
Speaker 9 (23:19):
I would just say this because I was actually saying
that Donald shouldn't like he's on the list, like he's
he's like sixth or seventh. But my point is, Jackson
Smith and Jigba has been so much a part of
that team, and if he's the only guy that.
Speaker 5 (23:34):
That Donald throws to, really the next closest.
Speaker 9 (23:37):
Jason has eighty five targets, Cooper Cup has thirty five targets.
Speaker 1 (23:40):
Yeah, I mean, if I had a Jigba, I wouldn't
be out of the Guillotine League. I mean, so you know,
when you think about it, by the way Rich, This
is a great opportunity for Drake May to really make
his mark and win an MVP or anyone else because
it's a down yere for Mahomes.
Speaker 2 (23:57):
It down here for Josh Allen. Who are we talking about?
We were talking about Shoeo Tani earlier today on our
flight to Arizona. We were saying, this guy, you know,
because Wan Soto came in second, third, third, second, Werber second,
sho Heo Tani wins again, shoo TONI might win a
few more blocking these dudes, all these dudes from ever
winning one period has.
Speaker 1 (24:18):
A productive year like some no one may win the
NL MVP other than Otani for years if Otani's mildly Otani.
Speaker 3 (24:26):
So this is a great year.
Speaker 2 (24:28):
With guys like Allen and Mahomes having sort of down years,
this is a great year for Drake May to really
make his mark.
Speaker 1 (24:34):
Well, you know what, one last thought before your sad
story and Dan Buyer's update, this is a great year
to really appreciate not just Drake May. I'll throw the
Sam Darnold in that conversation because we saw him struggling
with the Jets and then Carolina and you know, the
guys get tossed around like that.
Speaker 3 (24:52):
Then he goes to the forty nine ers and you're.
Speaker 1 (24:54):
Like, well, there seems like a really suitable backup there
in San Francisco, gets an opportunity in Minnesota, and then
it was almost his credit was mildly given to Kevin O'Connell.
Speaker 3 (25:02):
He's a quarterback whisperer.
Speaker 1 (25:04):
You know, he's in Minnesota succeeding because the coach just
knows how to use them. Now he goes to the Seahawks,
they're seven and two and he's killing it, Like so,
why are we forgetting that? Oh yeah, Sam Darnold was
a again highly drafted quarterback and it just took a minute.
It all goes back to the sentiment we've talked about
all of twenty twenty five.
Speaker 3 (25:22):
Patience, patience, you're a great whistler.
Speaker 4 (25:29):
Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Speaker 2 (25:30):
All right, so your feedback is appreciated. Coveno and Rich
on social media, Coveno and Rich in real life. Now,
before we get the DB's update, I'm going to try
to make this snappy, and let me preface a few things.
As a parent, you want to do everything for your kids,
everything and anything you.
Speaker 4 (25:47):
Can and make them happy.
Speaker 2 (25:48):
Right, of course. And part two. As a parent, you
love to get away and just have a good time.
That's what we're trying to do here in Arizona.
Speaker 3 (25:55):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (25:55):
But and I just got the weakest news that sort
of gets in a way of both of those things happening.
So my daughter is sixteen and she's having her sweet
sixteen party next weekend. And this weekend was a huge
festival in Los Angeles, and all the kids in her
(26:16):
school and all her closest friends were going to this festival.
It's called Camp Flognaw is Tyler the Creator's brand.
Speaker 4 (26:25):
And you know, every.
Speaker 2 (26:26):
Big name in hip hop and you know, I guess
in the indie world of music are performing at this festival.
Speaker 3 (26:35):
Really big names, artists that I don't know, I really.
Speaker 2 (26:37):
Care about, Like I saw Childish Game Beino, I can
tell you, but big big names is Tyler the creators festival.
Kendrick Lamar performed, I think last year. It's a huge
deal at Dodger State. It's at Dodger Stadium. Tickets sellout instantly.
It's a whole carnival theme, so it's ferris wheels and
rides and carnival food. Fifty five seventy thousand people show
(26:59):
up and they all watch these shows for two days.
Speaker 3 (27:02):
It's a two day huge event.
Speaker 2 (27:04):
And all the kids in LA and people from all
where the country go and fly there to go to
Camp Flogna. So it's a big deal, not to me,
but to them. Yes, all of a sudden, Los Angeles
this weekend torrential downpour, rainstorms, rainstorm, and they're like, yeah,
(27:26):
you know, we don't know what we're gonna do it
Camp flog Nah, maybe we might have to cancel Camp
flog I meanwhile, my daughter has.
Speaker 3 (27:34):
So ray didn't. I was saying, did you come to
work today in a canoe?
Speaker 4 (27:37):
I did?
Speaker 6 (27:38):
Yeah, so fast? Yeah, life preserver on, yeah, that vest
from Back to the Future. Yeah. So even mind, I
went out of my way.
Speaker 2 (27:49):
I was using all of our Dodgers connects, our buddy
Dave Wiss, I had him on standby.
Speaker 1 (27:54):
And can you get me tickets for my daughter? It's
such a big deal.
Speaker 2 (27:58):
So my daughter had tickets, all her friends had tickets
for the show this weekend. And it turns out rich
they didn't cancel the concert. They postponed it. But get this,
they postponed it for next weekend, which completely interferes with
my daughter's sweet sixteen party. Not only does my daughter
(28:21):
not to go, you know, not get to go to
the concert, but all of her friends and all of
her best friends are probably going to go to the
concert now, missing her party. Oh now, I can't tell
you how crushed I am. And I'm crushed for not
only my daughter but for myself. We've put so much
(28:41):
effort into this party, dude, especially my daughter.
Speaker 4 (28:43):
I'm crushed for.
Speaker 2 (28:44):
Her because again, it's like planning a wedding. It's like
a kinetta. But you know, we waited a year. It's
her sweet sixteen. We got it at a banquet hall.
You have to book a photo booth, photographers, catering, you
had to get the case, you had a book here
and make up. It's a big deal. It's a big deal.
We have hundreds of kids coming. But guess what half
(29:06):
of those kids are going to be going to the
concert because it was postponed.
Speaker 4 (29:10):
To the same day as her party.
Speaker 3 (29:11):
So what does can he not do? There's nothing I
can well could he do? You know what? Think about it? Dude,
it's the weakest.
Speaker 5 (29:17):
Wait cove, are you one hundred stuck? Like you can't
get deposits back or any of that.
Speaker 3 (29:22):
We're gonna call during the break.
Speaker 1 (29:23):
Actually, I said, well, we hit the when we hit commercial,
call the venue.
Speaker 2 (29:28):
Yeah, call the How can you reschedule the party when
you got the holidays coming up? You go venues and
banquet halls already booked up. You're going to schedule a
whole party, super weak. And it's not even about like
the concert of the part is I'm crushed for my kid,
you know, And and it sucks because now all of
her friends are going to be forced to make a choice.
Speaker 4 (29:48):
And they all spent money on these.
Speaker 1 (29:49):
Tickets, but they go to they are refundable, the tickets
to the concert. The concert tickets are fundable. Now it's
almost a decision of like how much of the each of.
Speaker 6 (29:57):
Them daughter, each of them are going to be four
to make a decision.
Speaker 5 (30:02):
It's gonna come down to decision on each of these guests.
Speaker 2 (30:04):
But guess what, dude, these kids, I don't blame them
for going to the concert.
Speaker 4 (30:07):
This is well a big deal to them. They spent
money on it.
Speaker 3 (30:11):
But they can get their money back. Damn you Weather.
Speaker 2 (30:14):
Well, hey, we'll take your feedback and phone calls. That's life.
I get it, that's what the people say. But when
you see your kid crush that way, it only just
crushes your soul. Not to mention rich how much money
I'm spending on this party.
Speaker 3 (30:28):
Now, her best friends might not trumped exactly, I'll blame
I want to get into our tire rack.
Speaker 4 (30:36):
Play of the day. Oh yeah, tire I play of
the day.
Speaker 2 (30:39):
The Jets tried to stumble in the way, but the
Patriots are on a roll.
Speaker 10 (30:44):
The Patriots are going to win over the Jets by
the twenty seven or fourteen's final score tonight. They're going
to beat the Jets for the seventeenth time in the
last nineteen.
Speaker 3 (30:55):
Encounters with these division wiles.
Speaker 11 (30:58):
The Patriots are going to improve to three and zero
in the AFC East. They've won their eighth straight game
for the first time an eight game winning straight four
in New England since twenty nineteen.
Speaker 3 (31:11):
Tom Brady was the Patriots quarterback.
Speaker 2 (31:13):
Day all goes back to TV twelve. The Patriots are
nine to two now. Drake May had a game pass
beat the Jets twenty seven fourteen. As courtesy of ninety
eight five the Sports Hub and the Patriots Radio Network.
Speaker 3 (31:26):
Danny G. What you got man.
Speaker 5 (31:28):
Okay, we can't just give all the credit to Drake May.
Trayvon Henderson, Yeah, dude, he's the man. The first rookie
in Patriots history with two rushing touchdowns and one receiving
touchdown in a single game. That is such a weapon
for Drake May. So we can't give enough praise to Henderson.
Speaker 1 (31:47):
Do you see people are saying they finally got his
jersey right? They've been scrushing the Henderson letters really tight
on the on the regular jersey and last night those
sweet you know what they call them, the nor Easter jerseys.
Speaker 3 (31:58):
I think they look good. Man.
Speaker 1 (31:59):
So Patriots nine and two, and if you want to
take a look back, one last thought, cave you know
about Drake May and we'll move on. If you want
to go back to that twenty twenty four draft and
really sort of take a look two years later now,
a year and a half, two years later, all right,
Number one, Kayleb Williams in Chicago, that started to seem like, okay,
that makes sense. Number two Jane and Daniels in Washington
(32:19):
last year. You saw that workout immediately. Drake May number
three to New England. They had a plan and look
what's happening now?
Speaker 3 (32:27):
Three?
Speaker 1 (32:27):
Right, Marvin Harrison Junior in Arizona number four, he's you know,
they just need people around him.
Speaker 3 (32:33):
Joe All to the Chargers. Malik Neighbors was number six.
Speaker 1 (32:37):
So you're seeing that draft people were sort of on
the money with their pick.
Speaker 3 (32:40):
Yeah.
Speaker 8 (32:41):
Good.
Speaker 1 (32:41):
But until recently you're like, oh, Drake May, huh yeah,
Drake May, he's the man right now you're Vegas leading
MVP candidate.
Speaker 4 (32:50):
Congrats to him, man, nice win.
Speaker 1 (32:52):
Any thoughts on what you're gonna do abot your daughter's party,
you're trying to be scheduled or you're just gonna I mean.
Speaker 2 (32:56):
When you're planning at a big party like that, you're
lucky just to get that right. So I got the
banquet booked, got I know, the teenage drakeup artist on standby,
a photographer, you got the catering, you got the takes.
Speaker 1 (33:10):
But if a kid chose a concert over a big
party like that, I'd be like, O, whow you really?
Speaker 3 (33:15):
My friend? Nah that that's a yeah.
Speaker 1 (33:18):
They get excited about stuff like that, but I mean,
like it's a full on carnival fest.
Speaker 3 (33:21):
Yeah, they're all gonna go. They've been waiting for this
for a year.
Speaker 5 (33:25):
Hey, Covino, can you kick at old school and tell
all the vendors that you and the family and your
daughter all have COVID.
Speaker 2 (33:31):
I know, right, what are we doing twenty twenty? Sorry,
I can't postpone the party. I don't think I could
because then it's Thanksgiving and it's Christmas.
Speaker 4 (33:41):
Is when you have that.
Speaker 2 (33:42):
Party, people are traveling. Boy, it's just bad luck, man,
that's life.
Speaker 3 (33:46):
Well you.
Speaker 2 (33:49):
Covino and Rich Fox Sports Radio, we be rocking out.
I do want to thank super producer Danny G just
for being the best in the game. He gave me
an update about Drake I want to share in a second. Oh,
but I want you to stick around Fox Sports Radio Nation.
Our new game Brainwave hosted by Dannyg's coming up in
about a few minutes. How about to say that? Okay,
(34:10):
twenty eight twenty five minutes plus Rich's big TV game
of the week. We have lots to get to this
hour on Covino and Rich again live from Arizona. We're
here for the Cardinals forty nine Ers game. Really to
hang with some friends too and catch up and Rich
to wrap up our previous conversation about Drake May. The
NFL Network, everyone's buzzing about it. The game was last
(34:32):
night and he continues to dominate.
Speaker 3 (34:33):
It's all the buzz, it's.
Speaker 8 (34:34):
All the buzz.
Speaker 2 (34:35):
NFL Network just put this that up and it says,
is he on an MVP path? Most consecutive games with
eighty plus passer rating and a win prior to age
twenty four since nineteen fifty Dan Marino in eighty four
ten games NFL MVP, Yes, Lamar Jackson in twenty nineteen,
(34:57):
eight games MVP yes. Drake May twenty twenty five eight
games MVP. Well, we're buzzing about it, we're talking about it.
We'll find out. So it's clear that he is on
an MVP path as we speak. But there's still a
lot of season left and we're so back and forth
in our opinions. Yeah, and however the wind blows in
(35:18):
the NFL changes week tweak, but we wish him the
best and it is great to see. So, speaking of MVPs,
before we get into your big TV game of the week.
Speaker 1 (35:26):
And I have a thought on gambling. He says, there's
a few wild gambling stories, and gambling's all the rage,
good or bad, depending on how you look.
Speaker 3 (35:32):
At it right.
Speaker 2 (35:32):
I just want to say zip it to all the
boneheads out there that are still crying about cal Rawley
winning the MVP, I mean losing the MVP. Aaron Judge
was always the MVP. He was always your winner. He
had an MVP season in every possible stat that there is.
Speaker 3 (35:56):
He led the league in most stats.
Speaker 4 (36:00):
Whooped, he doo.
Speaker 2 (36:01):
He didn't have the home run record by seven home
runs and ten plus RBI.
Speaker 1 (36:06):
Judge was the MVP. What did cal Rawley have a
dream season? He did, he had a dream season. He
wasn't the MVP.
Speaker 2 (36:15):
But I know a lot of people are hitting up
rich like behind my back personal friends. Yeah, oh man,
Roy got hose like as if they really think that.
What stats back that up besides like your own personal
fandom none, none, whatsoever.
Speaker 1 (36:30):
And you don't create catchers on a curve. You don't
give sympathy votes for MVP since when? And everybody tried
to position it so hard, like.
Speaker 2 (36:40):
Rob Parker even said yesterday on our show, Oh the
way he frames the pitches, catchers the most important position.
Speaker 3 (36:47):
Dude.
Speaker 1 (36:47):
They started counting his home runs in the playoff post season.
Since when do we ever count postseason home runs and
add him to the regular season. I don't know when
you try so hard to create him as the win
of the MVP when he never was.
Speaker 2 (37:02):
Did he have a magical season? Did he have a
season to look back on and say, man, that really
was incredible?
Speaker 3 (37:08):
Yes?
Speaker 2 (37:09):
Did Aaron Judge put up circus numbers and was the
MVP all along?
Speaker 4 (37:14):
One hundred percent?
Speaker 2 (37:15):
Guys, the fact that it was seventeen thirteen, you should
be proud of that. That's far too close. To my opinion,
Aaron Judge was always the MVP. Cal Rally just made
it closer than it should have been.
Speaker 1 (37:26):
I mean props to him, but don't take away from
Judge just to lift up a catcher who had a
great year, that's all. It was the one thing I'll
back you and not just the one thing I'll back
you up in saying that just because it was a
good story, great story, doesn't mean it was a dude.
I'm not even trying to take away from kl Rally.
Speaker 4 (37:44):
It was an amazing story, is a great story.
Speaker 2 (37:46):
He lifted the Seattle Mariners to a playoff, but Judge
led the league. He didn't beat kol Raly led the
league in almost every other major category that matters in
today's world, in today's game, it's not even a debate.
Speaker 4 (38:04):
It's not even a debate.
Speaker 1 (38:05):
The good story, a good story doesn't always win because
of that.
Speaker 3 (38:10):
Like again, the good story is like man cal Rawley,
first of a catcher, was an unassuming guy. It's a
great story.
Speaker 2 (38:16):
It's a better story, cal Raleigh. What's more important for
baseball and what was deserving? Aaron Judge. Aaron Judge, hard.
Speaker 3 (38:24):
To deny it.
Speaker 1 (38:25):
I mean, listen, cal Rally, I know what you're saying too, Like,
you know, sometimes there'll be a Trent Dilfer or someone
that wins a Super Bowl and you're like, it's clearly
a one off.
Speaker 3 (38:34):
Yeah, yeah, Like we don't know if this is. We
don't know if it's a one off, because.
Speaker 1 (38:38):
Cal Rally, you know, he was good, but he got
like he went from good to like, holy crap.
Speaker 3 (38:43):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (38:43):
Now, now next year, if cal Raley hits fifty to
sixty home runs, then we could say, my goodness, we
got a you know, Carlton Fisk, Mike Piazza, cal Raley
one of the goods catchers ever.
Speaker 3 (38:54):
But we got to make sure this isn't an anomaly.
Speaker 4 (38:57):
Yeah, I agree, and I don't.
Speaker 1 (38:59):
I don't think just because it's a good story, he
should win MVP. And on the other flip side of it,
for the National League fans, Yo Schwarber had a hell
of a year.
Speaker 3 (39:07):
Juan Soto, if it was.
Speaker 1 (39:08):
Just based off of the second half, who was better
than mister Soto, who's gonna be show?
Speaker 3 (39:14):
Hey everything? If healthy, If he's healthy and does anything,
I think he can win like the next fuse.
Speaker 2 (39:20):
It's almost crazy, you know. Congratulations to all of them.
I'm not trying to take anything away from cal.
Speaker 5 (39:26):
Rawley at all.
Speaker 2 (39:27):
I really think it was a magical dream season. Could
be a fluke. I'd love to.
Speaker 3 (39:31):
See him prove us or prove me wrong there.
Speaker 2 (39:33):
But congratulations to my guy Aaron Judge Man, he put
on a show this season.
Speaker 3 (39:38):
Now, so many random little stories in the world of.
Speaker 1 (39:41):
Gambling, and listen, we're not speaking out of both sides
of our mouthspeacause I think gambling's fun. I think, if
done responsibly, could really be a you know, a really
fun supplement to watching a game. I feel like when
you got action on the game, it makes something fun
even a little more exciting.
Speaker 2 (39:58):
Well, can I say the Vegas guy respectfully. Yeah, I
agree with you, but not everybody could handle that responsibly, and.
Speaker 4 (40:06):
That that's the issue.
Speaker 1 (40:07):
That's the issue. But and if that's who you are,
then maybe it's not for you. I feel like I
can handle it responsibly, of course. But there's stories I'm
seeing now. You don't know it's AI anymore. But Danny
g you said to something where there's an airport in
Italy where the baggage claim is a roulette table, like
if your bag, if your bag comes out, you could
guess what number your bag comes out.
Speaker 3 (40:29):
Is that real? If it is, it might be the busiest,
Is it real?
Speaker 5 (40:32):
Yeah? You gamble while you're on the airplane. You guess
which slot your bag is going to land on, which color,
which number?
Speaker 1 (40:38):
Yeah, dude, my bag's gonna come out red sixteen. Yeah,
it comes out run sixteen.
Speaker 2 (40:42):
I don't know if you made this clear enough, but
the baggage carousel looks like a roulette table.
Speaker 3 (40:46):
Yeah, and it goes around.
Speaker 2 (40:48):
It's it's got black and red and all the numbers,
and the baggage carounsel looks like a roulette table. So
where's your bag in the land. That's actually kind of fun. Man,
I just didn't know if.
Speaker 4 (40:57):
That was real or not.
Speaker 1 (40:58):
If you told me they did that, and it was
for like, I don't know, like a drink ticket on
the flight or something fun, I'd say, how cool.
Speaker 4 (41:03):
You know what, though, you know it's on about it.
Speaker 2 (41:05):
We've gone zero to sixty so fast when it comes
to what was taboo to what is?
Speaker 3 (41:10):
Uh?
Speaker 2 (41:10):
Yeah, man, it's great for everybody, it really is. It's like, yo,
can we uh? That transition was really quick. The same
thing with weed you always bring up to say.
Speaker 3 (41:20):
I always say the same two examples.
Speaker 1 (41:21):
Weed and gambling went from taboo to like, hey, let's
party it up. And I find it funny in a
productive way because I think no one ever really thought
cigarette smoking was good.
Speaker 3 (41:30):
No.
Speaker 1 (41:30):
We went from your dad and grandpa they'd smoke with
you in the car, and now it took like one
generation for us.
Speaker 4 (41:36):
To be like smoking's bad. We smoked on airplanes.
Speaker 3 (41:39):
I mean there's still old planes that have an ashtray.
Speaker 4 (41:43):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (41:44):
I just think it's wild house. Some things.
Speaker 1 (41:46):
The public is just like all in or all off of,
and it's like all of a sudden, I was like, eh, weed,
let's go. Hey, gambling. Let's go cigarettes. Now we've all
agreed that's really bad for you, and it's a wild
I have fun, do it response if that's your thing.
There was a troubling stat and again not speaking out
of both sides of my mouth, because I think DraftKings
(42:08):
and I love that they're sponsor of ours.
Speaker 3 (42:10):
I do enjoy gambling myself. But Danny, what was the heck?
Speaker 1 (42:14):
You sent me a headline that more people are now
wagering than contributing into their investments in four oh one k.
Speaker 5 (42:22):
Yeah, this does not surprise me.
Speaker 1 (42:24):
That's see, that is where the rich Davis four oh
one k funk should come in.
Speaker 3 (42:29):
Do you remember I said this.
Speaker 1 (42:30):
I had a brilliant idea that I should have took
the shark tank, and someone else is now going to benefit.
You know how there's people that follow like Nancy Pelosi's
stock tips and they make millions, and there's people that
there's all these little tips, like every time you shop
at a publicly traded company, you buy five dollars of
their stock, like all these.
Speaker 3 (42:45):
Little fun apps.
Speaker 1 (42:46):
Yeah, Danny, do you remember I said we should have
a gambling app like in conjunction with Draft Kings or
whoever wants a partner, and if you win, you could
directly deposit that into your kids four oh one k.
Speaker 3 (42:59):
But you can't take out of it.
Speaker 5 (43:00):
Or a percentage of your winnings. Right one way. It
was a one way street. We said it could work
one way.
Speaker 1 (43:06):
A one way street of a gambling account, even like
in an auto pay of twenty five percent of your
earning a yes or winning. Hey, if you're a gambler,
you donate. You put this money into your you call
like the DraftKings, educate your edumacation fund, educacation fund. Listen,
I think that would be great. You bet a hundo
on the Patriots to cover last night they win? Yeah,
(43:27):
you win, seventy five twenty five goes into your kids,
you know, five twenty nine.
Speaker 2 (43:31):
And if you're on a losing streak and your wife
wants to throw you out of the house, you could
always say, but but honey, we still did donate a
few hundred into the kids College found fund.
Speaker 1 (43:40):
And you know, like they do the bonus bets and
all that, that could be a bonus money into your
kids five twenty nine. So when it happens and some jabbroni,
it becomes a multimillionaire because he has this app idea.
Just remember, I'm the guy that thought of it, and
I didn't execute it, and I hate myself for it because.
Speaker 2 (43:56):
I feel like, well, guess what, I just got a
tweet from mister wonderful and he said he wants to
take your idea behind the barn and shoot it.
Speaker 3 (44:02):
Hold on, Dann Bayer, you're a man.
Speaker 1 (44:04):
Don't know if you have a proprietary patent on this, damn.
Speaker 3 (44:07):
Buyer, Danny g.
Speaker 1 (44:08):
I was saying, you guys are are men of knowledge,
of integrity. If it's a one way street where you're
not dipping out of your kids college fund, you don't
think my idea still sounds like pretty smart.
Speaker 6 (44:18):
Well here's the thing though, what about just the money
you're generally losing from your your general bank account, like
you still have to like in the moment, you still
might be losing money overall.
Speaker 1 (44:28):
It just but if you're a gambler, you're gonna wager anyway.
I'm just saying this. What this does is it almost
it alans gives a little piece of the pie to
something actually productive.
Speaker 4 (44:38):
God plays devil's avacate role.
Speaker 3 (44:39):
Yeah, please do, but you have to be al Pacino.
Speaker 1 (44:41):
Though you think you're own big time, I'll show you
big time.
Speaker 3 (44:45):
Thank you, don't mind if I do.
Speaker 2 (44:49):
I just think as a guy who again I respect
the gambling. We're in Vegas all the time, and of
course DraftKings that's awesome. I do feel a lot of
times we focus on the winnings and the players that
we're betting on, and we're losing the excitement of the game,
like the actual game. Much how, I'll give you a
real stretch of an analogy. I feel like porn and
(45:11):
having porn at your fingertips has desensitized a younger generation
and a lot of people of what you know is fun,
like oh sex, sex is boring compared to what you're
seeing on porn Hub, Like what happened to.
Speaker 3 (45:24):
Just appreciating the game?
Speaker 2 (45:25):
Now we have to have action on it because it's
not as exciting when there's not totally to thank you, Sam,
because as a guy who just likes the game, and
call me old school, call me an old soul, Sam,
and I think do vibe on this. I still like
the little things that made the game special. I don't
need all that action. Well, see what I'm saying to
(45:46):
pull me in on something that's already awesome.
Speaker 3 (45:49):
Well, I know what you're saying.
Speaker 1 (45:50):
You're saying, like, may you know I was gonna say
making love to a woman, and that is not the real.
Speaker 3 (45:57):
Making love to a woman is already making love.
Speaker 2 (46:00):
And and now we have these crazy expectations that you
need based on what provides has provided.
Speaker 5 (46:06):
Man, I'm cutting that out of the podcast.
Speaker 1 (46:09):
Making Love, Love Daddy, Making Love to a Limit.
Speaker 2 (46:14):
It's like you can't just appreciate making love anymore. You
need to do all the things you're seeing there to
to spice it up. Like you've become to sensitized to
what is already great your brain has.
Speaker 6 (46:25):
You can only handle so much, like dopamine drip. You know,
like you if it's like gambling or or watching a
lot of porn is like doing like extra hard drugs,
like and you're like, I can never go back because
like my brain wants this, it craves it's extra.
Speaker 1 (46:39):
Yeah, Like when some young dude meets a woman with
I don't know, reasonable limits, he's.
Speaker 3 (46:43):
Like, but what about what I see you online?
Speaker 2 (46:45):
It's like you're not focusing on the game or the
beauty of the game or the sweet signs what you're watching.
You're so focused on what's happening with your your your.
Speaker 1 (46:55):
Pocket got to hit the over gout of the over though.
My kids are all going to college for because uh,
Emmanuel klus for throws a lot of first pitch ball,
so I'm kidding for so it has.
Speaker 2 (47:05):
Changed how we watched a game, guys, And you can
say the same uh for a lot of things.
Speaker 4 (47:09):
So I'll just leave it at that.
Speaker 5 (47:11):
By the way, this study is from Northwestern University's Kellogg
School of Management. They say that once legalized online sports
betting hit in a lot of states, the average American,
the average gambler is spending eleven hundred dollars per year
and dialing back their investments by about fourteen percent. Northwestern's
(47:32):
advice treat betting as entertainment, not a financial strategy.
Speaker 2 (47:36):
Or how about what we do, Danny G. You know,
me and Danny G. We're not daddy stacks. We're not
rolling in ducats, right, but if we're at the fight, yes,
or we're at the.
Speaker 5 (47:45):
Game, it's special occasions.
Speaker 2 (47:47):
There you go like, I mean, that's how I balance it,
and I'm not judging it is fun.
Speaker 5 (47:51):
Treat gambling like the strip club. Yeah, treat it like
the strip club.
Speaker 6 (47:54):
And listen, investing in the stock market is also kind
of like gambling. But and yes, what you're talking about, right,
they've they've reigned backed their investments to the can gamble more.
But yeah, I just it's man, I just it's there's
a kind of a reason, guys, why like for like
even since like biblical times, like gambling and drinking have
been sort of like looked down upon because maybe it
(48:15):
causes some problems for societies. And I like my drink,
don't don't get me wrong.
Speaker 8 (48:19):
Now.
Speaker 1 (48:20):
I saw our buddy Jared Smith, who we love. He
does Fox Sports Radio weekends. Jared Smith, hell.
Speaker 3 (48:26):
Of a guy. Saw he was on like ABC news
like national.
Speaker 6 (48:31):
Yeah, he's made a couple appearances now.
Speaker 3 (48:32):
He's uh, you know, talking about these things if.
Speaker 2 (48:34):
You want to follow him. Jared Smith bets. He's a
great dude, Jared Smith betts. He's a supporter of us.
So anyone that loves and supports us, I love him
right back.
Speaker 3 (48:42):
So what's up, Jared?
Speaker 1 (48:44):
Jared was saying on ABC Nightly News he got a
big appearance there.
Speaker 3 (48:48):
I was, I was happy for him.
Speaker 4 (48:49):
Oh is he mister big time.
Speaker 3 (48:50):
Do you think your big time now too good for me?
Show you?
Speaker 1 (48:54):
He was saying that, you know, the only reasonable answer
to these to keep sports betting legitimate is when you
make these prop bets very small scale, like maximums, like
a bet like that's why when.
Speaker 3 (49:06):
They do the first how long is the national anthem?
Speaker 1 (49:09):
Or what color gatorade or all these things, you guys
do realize those Super Bowl bets have like a one
or two hundred dollars limit because you can't be like, yo,
bro got a tip and bet like five hundred thousand
dollars on the national anthem to have the over. So
so with that, with that said, I think that.
Speaker 3 (49:25):
They're gonna do the right thing.
Speaker 1 (49:27):
I've seen people say that their first I've heard people
say that Cavino that they should eliminate all player prop
bets because it just kills the integrity of like sports,
like are we really betting the pitch count of a
pitcher or the yards of a receiver? But hey, people
love it too much. But real quick, we're running late.
But I do want to give you the big TV
(49:48):
game of the week.
Speaker 3 (49:49):
Let's you should hear my ft up.
Speaker 1 (49:52):
I got an extra TV game that I will have
Riches Big TV Game of the Week.
Speaker 3 (49:59):
It's Rich as big TV Game of the Week.
Speaker 1 (50:03):
Nothing I love more is the intro or spot. You're
laughing at that and it ends up being a segment.
So thank yous, funny boy for mocking me.
Speaker 3 (50:10):
You're the man.
Speaker 2 (50:10):
Well, if you're new to the Covino and Rich Show
again live from Arizona. Right now, Rich has a big TV,
but he wheels out a second little TV like the
av kid in high school, you know, for the weaker games.
Speaker 3 (50:22):
So what's making the big TV this week? And isn't
it funny?
Speaker 1 (50:25):
What used to be a little TV now is like
what it used to be a big TV is now
a little TV.
Speaker 3 (50:29):
Like I wheel out a fifty.
Speaker 1 (50:30):
Five inch that used to be like if you had
a fifty five inch TV back of the day.
Speaker 2 (50:34):
What I'm happy to hear is that you won your
big TV back because your kids sort of owned it
with K Pop Demon Hunters.
Speaker 3 (50:39):
And I was watching the Big Game TV on my phone.
Speaker 4 (50:41):
Yeah, so you know, I think I TCL changed all that.
Speaker 1 (50:45):
All right, So let's thank our friends at TCL. Let's
go over the big game of the week.
Speaker 3 (50:49):
Now.
Speaker 1 (50:50):
Listen, we're going to Madrid, Spain early Sunday morning. We
uh used to say, we wean that's not Spain. Washington
and Miami. You'll watch it because it's on. It's the
only early game. Nine thirty eastern, one Pacific, right, So
I'm sorry, nine thirty eastern, six thirty in the morning
out west. Now, let's talk about the early games. Carolina, Atlanta,
(51:16):
no thanks, Houston and Tennessee again you know, no, no thanks.
Speaker 3 (51:21):
Green Bay and the Giants.
Speaker 1 (51:22):
I think that's interesting only because, like Green Bay, I
think it's a big game for Jordan.
Speaker 3 (51:28):
Love to assert himself and beg young. I'm the man
as as I wonder who are they?
Speaker 2 (51:34):
Who are the Green Bay They're trying to find an
identity and they should beat the Giants at home to
prove that there's somebody.
Speaker 4 (51:41):
Out and there's there's a game with that.
Speaker 1 (51:43):
I'm very intrigued by, But it doesn't get the big
TV because I'm intrigued, like.
Speaker 3 (51:47):
Who are the Pittsburgh Steelers at this point? Right?
Speaker 1 (51:49):
And Cincinnati could play spoiler and all of a sudden
they can find themselves at five and five and Pittsburgh
could be tied with Baltimore by the end of this weekend.
So that's a really interesting game. But I think we're
all intense in purposes so obvious. It's so obvious that I,
you know, we gotta go Tampa Bay at Buffalo, Baker Mayfield,
he's got some weapons back Buffalo at Holmes the Obviously
(52:11):
they're gonna try to make a statement because everyone's started.
Everyone's talking about Drake may and the Wingle, and everyone's saying, well,
you know, Kansas City will be there and all the
turnaround of the Ravens, and they're talking about the Colts
and Daniel Jones.
Speaker 3 (52:22):
People are sort of off Buffalo. So I think Buffalo
may be like whoa whoa hold up.
Speaker 2 (52:26):
And by the way, they fun smack talk in the
past week, going back and forth like they have a friendly,
a friendly competitive camaraderie Mayfield and Josh Allen.
Speaker 4 (52:37):
So that's an exciting game. I think Bay at Buffalo
that is.
Speaker 1 (52:40):
By far the biggest early game of the week. Now,
as far as Lake games go, Baltimore Cleveland, you're gonna
keep a eye on because if Baltimore keeps rolling, they're
gonna find themselves back at five hundred in ebak Man
there they are right, They're right back in the mix,
so you'll keep an eye on that. You'll also keep
an eye on the game. We're gonna be at Niners,
the return of Brock Purty. I gave him a pep
talk earlier. He's all good. Look for us on TV.
(53:01):
He'll be at Arizona. Not a game that gets the
big TV. There's two games. You might need to do
a little split action, but I'm putting Kansas City and
Denver backseat.
Speaker 3 (53:12):
I'm sorry you might think that's the one. You might say, Bo.
Speaker 1 (53:15):
Nicks, Patrick Mahomes, Come on, dude, AFC battle. I'm going
NFC battle, Dan Buyer, Seahawks going into Los Angeles?
Speaker 3 (53:24):
Is this where Sam Donald? He might be a Rich.
Speaker 1 (53:27):
Davis Sam Donald's.
Speaker 3 (53:33):
Matthew Stafford in LA. That's the game of the week.
Speaker 4 (53:36):
I love quarterbacks.
Speaker 1 (53:38):
I can't wait. So that is your big TCL game
of the week. Lock it in Seattle.
Speaker 3 (53:44):
Rams.
Speaker 1 (53:44):
Now coming up, we are gonna play Brainwave. This is
the game where you have a chance to win a
conven Know rich nerf Turbo football.
Speaker 3 (53:55):
Now it's time for Brainwave. Oh yeah, let's go.
Speaker 7 (54:00):
You Know and Race really share the same brain do
stay rich chatting.
Speaker 3 (54:04):
Chaddy Ray persisting something simpy Joe to measure you?
Speaker 8 (54:07):
Is there?
Speaker 3 (54:08):
Crew not far behind. We're one. Welcome to Brainway. Try
to make sense of the brain.
Speaker 7 (54:15):
It's easy. We drop fun, sports, music, and entertainment questions,
and if you match with enough of these bosums, you win.
Speaker 3 (54:22):
I love that.
Speaker 9 (54:23):
On the count of three, reveal Brainway one, two, three, Yeah, yeah,
walked in.
Speaker 1 (54:32):
Yeahs You're on the same the way way right now?
Speaker 3 (54:35):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (54:36):
All right, Happy Friday. The questions in this game are
all subjective. You just need to try and match the
brain of CNR and the crew. Let's get our contestant
on the studio lines right now, then we'll explain further.
All right, it is Mike and Ohio. Who got through first?
Speaker 8 (54:50):
What up, Mikey?
Speaker 5 (54:51):
What what do you do for a living there in Ohio?
Speaker 8 (54:55):
I'm refereeing.
Speaker 3 (54:56):
I'm my way to referee high school basketball stormage right.
Speaker 4 (54:59):
Now, refra what's up at hockey?
Speaker 1 (55:01):
Lee?
Speaker 3 (55:02):
What's up?
Speaker 4 (55:02):
He works at foot lock?
Speaker 8 (55:03):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (55:04):
He works lot man.
Speaker 4 (55:06):
Yo, dude, I need a size ten and a half
bro air Max.
Speaker 5 (55:09):
All right, Mike, I'm glad you're playing. Here's how the
game works. I have five rounds ready to go. Our contestant,
that's you need to win two of them to be
the champ and walk away with a CNR NERF turbo football.
I'll ask a sports, music or entertainment question and then
give three debatable answers that choose from the six of us.
We'll write down our answers on dry erase boards, and
then Mike, that'll give you time to get your answer
ready on the counter.
Speaker 8 (55:29):
Three.
Speaker 5 (55:30):
Mike, you're gonna shout out your answer. Then we'll go
around the studio to reveal ours. All right, and the
contestant has to match four of the six of us
to win the round. You got a batch six sixty
seven or no matter the callers answer. If all six
of us in studio match, Mike gets the round. All right,
here we go Round one. We're going to start with entertainment.
(55:52):
Which of these based on a true story sports movies?
Is superior Friday Night Lights? Oh, Rudy or remember the Titans?
Speaker 3 (56:04):
Say that one more time, Danny j All.
Speaker 5 (56:05):
Right, which of these based on a true story sports movies?
Is superior Friday Night Lights? Rudy or remember the Titans.
We're all writing our answers down.
Speaker 4 (56:19):
Got it locked?
Speaker 8 (56:20):
I got mine all right, locked in.
Speaker 5 (56:23):
Locked in, unlocked, Okay, on the counter of three, we
need your answer, Mike one.
Speaker 8 (56:28):
Two, three, remember the Titan.
Speaker 5 (56:31):
Okay, Coveno, We're gonna start with you. He's got to
match four.
Speaker 2 (56:35):
Of us, I said, Rudy.
Speaker 5 (56:41):
He gets three x's, that's one x all right, Rich Davis.
Speaker 3 (56:47):
Rudy, he's so little.
Speaker 1 (56:52):
Man.
Speaker 3 (56:53):
Come on, man, I won I love remember the Titans
might be the best movie. But what is come on?
Speaker 6 (56:57):
All right, so Mike has to go four and oh
here right, ye Dan Bayer unless we all say Rudy,
yeah that's true.
Speaker 3 (57:04):
Yeah, well there's good news.
Speaker 5 (57:06):
I also said Rudy's.
Speaker 6 (57:09):
Being the buzzer just because it doesn't match his answer,
but he does get Rudy then he gets the point.
Speaker 5 (57:14):
Maybe a brainway first, all right, spotty boy.
Speaker 8 (57:18):
Rudey, rude fruity all Rudy.
Speaker 5 (57:28):
Fellas, I said, Rudy, Oh boy, yeah, I mean Sam, Sam,
your hands Sam.
Speaker 6 (57:36):
I still give the buzzer because okay, uh listen, I
went with my one of my favorite sports movies, Friday
Night Lights.
Speaker 12 (57:45):
So he looks realistic football movie ever made. Is like
the weakest answer. I'm sorry, get out. I love Billy bomb.
Speaker 4 (57:57):
We work some little Richard I know.
Speaker 3 (57:59):
Man.
Speaker 5 (58:00):
All right, sorry Mike and Ohio, you were bamboozled by
by by sam there, all right, we're gonna go to
round two.
Speaker 8 (58:08):
Let's go.
Speaker 5 (58:09):
Let's go to the music category. Which music format has
the corniest radio DJs? Whatever riches on light rock, pop
or oldies?
Speaker 3 (58:25):
One more time?
Speaker 5 (58:26):
Which music format has the corniest radio DJs? Light rock,
pop or oldies? Yeah, there's a couple formats there where
they fight over the cheese.
Speaker 8 (58:40):
All right, rock, pop, oldies.
Speaker 5 (58:43):
We're writing our answers down right now.
Speaker 4 (58:47):
I'm locked in.
Speaker 5 (58:47):
Everybody locked in.
Speaker 8 (58:49):
I'm just getting okay, all right.
Speaker 5 (58:52):
On the count of three, mikey one, two three, pop,
he says pop. All right, we're gonna go in reverse
order this time. Samuel L. Johnson, I said oldies. Interesting, okay,
you know, I hear a lot of like in the
grocery store doctor's office, like the syrpy sacrine voices on
(59:13):
light rock radio stations.
Speaker 3 (59:15):
Oh so you went light rock?
Speaker 8 (59:16):
Went no?
Speaker 7 (59:18):
No?
Speaker 8 (59:18):
No?
Speaker 5 (59:19):
He said pop? He said pop? Would I said light
light rock? All right, spotty.
Speaker 13 (59:28):
I went with pop just because I feel like their
references are a little bit cheesy or you're.
Speaker 5 (59:34):
Taking a shot at rich Day all right, Dan Byer
Bird Pope, all right, Rich Davis.
Speaker 1 (59:49):
I feel bad because I'm a pop guy, so of
course I'm not gonna say that.
Speaker 3 (59:52):
The old these guys are like she beatle herself whatever.
All these are the corny skill It's hey, it's flash Phelps.
Speaker 5 (01:00:03):
Come on Cono just for fun. What did you say?
Speaker 4 (01:00:06):
It's clearly the corneist.
Speaker 3 (01:00:09):
Hop.
Speaker 5 (01:00:11):
Oh what a way.
Speaker 2 (01:00:12):
Yeah, they have to pretend it's grown men that they
care about all the stupid gossip and teenage worlds.
Speaker 4 (01:00:19):
All right, lop by far with the answer.
Speaker 5 (01:00:21):
You got a rally here, Let's go to round three. Sports.
Who's the best owner in sports history? Oh, George Steinbrenner,
doctor Jerry Buss or the Rooney family. Oh yeah, A
lot of debate, A lot of debate on his top three.
George Steinbrenner, doctor Jerry or the Rooney family.
Speaker 8 (01:00:43):
Think about it. Don't want any of them, guys.
Speaker 5 (01:00:48):
Doesn't have to be your team, so I can't say, okay.
Speaker 3 (01:00:54):
What you got?
Speaker 5 (01:00:54):
Your ownership's definitely not on that list. All right, everybody
locked in, I'm walking all right. On the count of three, Mike,
your answer one, two, three, the Rooney Family. He says,
all right, Covino, we're gonna start with you. Steinbrenner's not
(01:01:16):
biased at all. I squander that organization.
Speaker 2 (01:01:19):
Come on, Rich, George, and then and the Ghost of
George and living up to those expectations George Costanza.
Speaker 1 (01:01:27):
No oh, gotcha, bro Rich, the Playboy Club, Lakers girls
making the NBA what it is today, Doctor buss Man,
I'm sorry, Lakers all day.
Speaker 5 (01:01:40):
Good answer, Yeah, Dan Byer.
Speaker 9 (01:01:43):
I knew there was a sure match with Covino, so
I went.
Speaker 5 (01:01:45):
Steinbrowner trying to help you out, spotty boy.
