Speaker 1 (00:01):
Don't listening to Fox Sports. R This is straight out
of Vegas with the Voice of Vegas, your host r
J Bow. Damn collect the pregame show. America has always

(00:29):
won it from the Vegas trip. Here's r J. Bow.
The Warriors take a three oh Western Conference Finals lead
the heat hobble into Game four with a beat up

(00:50):
Butler and no Tyler Hero and Justin Thomas roars back
on Sunday to win the PGA Championship. What is the
Vegas leave? So let me get this straight. Now, is
gold State commanding all these like very positive words heat
up to one. They're hobbled physically, they're hobbled. Yeah, interesting,

(01:11):
but in a way that should it's even more miraculous
that they're leading it. But there's no words like miraculous.
It's hobbled versus because now you're already trying to bring
them down. You're looking who's coming out of the East
and you're already trying to bring him down. You know
something I'm gonna like, because well, I think we're to
some degree exposing your bias. I'm gonna let you you

(01:33):
choose the Vegas lead, and just for those out there
think about it, what's the odds that aj is gonna
taste say going State? What's the odds he's gonna say Miami?
The Miami's playing tonight. Now the gold State is kind
of over. But what's the Vegas lead? A j Justin
Thomas down seventh straw. No nonna be honest. Just listen,
Try to be honest. That's all you can be. Listen

(01:54):
the Warriors taking a three old lead in the Western
Conference Finals, Vegas leads. Shut it up? Ye listen. The
Warriors moved to three oh one oh nine one hundred,
covering is three point underdogs. And the the language coming
out of Luca and Jason Kidd makes it feel like
this series is over. Okay, so we'll talk about that

(02:16):
in just a moment. Now, you've got two sons cracked.
I do how old are they? Fourteen and ten? Do
they like when it's dark in the living room and
you're watching the gold State game and you're giggling like,
do they ever look at what's wrong with dad? Dad?
What's going on? Like? Is there any questions or do
they know? How does that work at home? It doesn't.

(02:39):
It's not really an issue. They sit down and watch
with me. They enjoy watching this Warrior's team as well.
Oh so do they like the chimmy? I don't know
that they care for that. We don't we It's not
something we talk. You're the one obsessed with this chimmy.
I don't know. I just I'm obsessed how you can
ignore it, because if it's someone you don't like, that
shimmy would be the first thing you said every time
their name came up. But somehow you excuse it with staff.

(03:02):
And I want to understand how Steph has done this,
how he can take an old school guy like you
and make you okay with the shimmy because there should
be a PhD dissertation written on it. But let's move on.
You bring up an interesting point, and you've got the quotes.
If you listen to the words, the rationalizations coming from

(03:25):
the Dallas side, it does not look good for them
to even mount a fight. And by the way Game
four tomorrow, they're favored. Typically you've got a clearly better
team up the Rio. They're not gonna be favored. There's
a lot of faith in Dallas and still not to

(03:45):
come back and win the series, but to put up
a fight. And I think you have uncovered, and I
think very insightfully that some of these um, some of
the comments doesn't bode well for a fight being put up. Share. Yeah,
So Luca after the game said, I think after the
season is done, whatever we are, I think we're gonna

(04:07):
go back and look and learn a lot of things.
It's my first time in the conference finals. I'm twenty three, man,
I'm still learning a lot. Nobody had us being here
in these conference finals. That to me makes it sound like, well, hey,
we're happy to we were happy to get this far.
We overachieved by getting here. He's already to the stage

(04:27):
of saying, judge us for us losing in this round,
and don't judge us harshly. And it does presuppose they're
losing in this round. And I get it, when you're down,
oh three odds are you gonna lose? But but the
only way to come back from that, to even put
up a fight is one game at a time. And

(04:49):
he's not only he's not looking just past this next game,
he's looking past the whole series to say, how are
you going to judge me? It shows to me, the young,
even the non American players, there's a real cognizance and
awareness of this the narrative. What what's the press gonna
be saying? This is? Lebron asked where where he's already

(05:12):
getting out ahead of the narrative. I agree. And Jason Kidd,
who remember Jason Kidd was a guy who kind of
a maligned hire a lot of people, even in Dallas,
and what why are we hiring Jason Kidd to be
the head coach? Feels like he's doing the same thing
he said, this is just the beginning of this journey.
I know you guys had us winning the championship before
the season started, and that's a joke if you didn't

(05:33):
get it. But this is a lot bigger than one
game or one series. This is huge for our franchise
because none of you had us here. So it's cool
to go through this against a dynasty. It's a great
lesson learned from us. This isn't the end, just the beginning. Yeah,
very I mean these all of these statements, if you
would have said they came after they were swept, they

(05:56):
wouldn't really have to change hardly a word, not a word,
And to me, I think that is interesting when it
comes to the mindset Mackenzie, what's the updated line in
Game four? Warriors are one point underdog, Mavericks one point
favorite in Tuesday's Game four. Okay, so the MAVs, who
we've been talking about, all right, they are the favorite

(06:19):
in the game. Warriors are the underdog. That was an
interesting choice to start with the Warriors. I tried to
correct myself. You said, yeah, I'd say, let's see mass
mass mass mass master. What's the line. The Warriors are
a one point underdog and oh, by the way, they're
playing the MAVs who are favorite. Dot oh three. That's
the story. But I'm gonna say it last. And I'm

(06:39):
Mackenzie Rivers. That's how I got into Yale. Okay, I'm
Mark J. Bell. We are straight out of Vegas, Mackenzie.
You know, stay tuned. The guy who was speaking so
almost like the series was over when he said, yes,
I agree with the market. It has Boston is the
significant only better team. And that's what I thought from

(07:01):
the beginning. It's good that everyone has caught up to me.
Very interesting, he'll be he'll be responding to that. What
do you think a j you optimistic who have a
good response. I'm not at this point. All right, we're
straight out of Vegas. Now, what's interesting about Game three
that just passed for the Dallas series is Dallas was

(07:25):
a three point favorite in the first half of Game three.
So we've talked about the zig Zag zig Zag. What's that. Well,
one team wins, the team that lost has extra motivation.
They don't want to lose two in a row. But
when they lose two in a row, the super duper
zig Zag is down, oh too, her first home game.

(07:47):
First half, and we've seen a really disproportionate amount of
the favorite points that they that team is at home
in Game three has been in the first half. So
in the first half mackenzie of Game three, it was
Dallas favored by three. What was the game line, Dallas

(08:09):
by three. It was the same, so three point favorite
for the game, three point favorite for the first half.
That's implying that the second half was picked them very disproportionate,
and in this case, it didn't come through Dallas one
the first half, but only by one point. And if anything,

(08:29):
that's an example where the Zigzag has really hurts you
as it better because you could see the line being
picked him for the game. You could see the line
being picked him for the first half, and you would
win with Dallas at minus one. But no, not in
this case because again the emphasis on the first half
in that Game three, and you know what, it was, right,

(08:51):
The question isn't do they cover in Game three in
the first half. The question is how do they do
in the first half versus the second half. That's the
real question. I might have just been a bad beat,
you know, Dallas Mining Street, but they did better in
the first half, and they did in the second half
once again in Game three. Keep an eye on that.
As the series progressed, we got I guess one more

(09:12):
chance of that this year, but hey, we'll be back
next year and again talking about the zig Zag and
the super zig Zag or straight out of Vegas. Now
a j As a keen fan of Golden State, I've
been surprised. I'm asking you as the fan. I've been
surprised at how well they've done with their rebounding. I've
been surprised how well they've done with their points in

(09:33):
the paint. You look at a guy like Kerr and say, yeah,
he innovated the line up of death, the small ball lineup,
but somehow he's kept his old school, you know, Bonafardes,
I think they call it but is his old school
ways to say, Yeah, but it's still matters getting you know,

(09:53):
dunks or threes, as they say, get to the rim,
and Steph has always been able to do that. Then
rebounding a guy like Looney not playing perfectly but comes
in gets a lot of rebounds. To me, it hasn't.
It's been about maker miss It's been how many threes
Dallas has missed? And it's been they got nothing else.
They've got no diversification on offense. They're not rebounding, they

(10:16):
don't push the pace. It's just get that three off
of Luca and Mackenzie would say the heliocentric ways of Luca.
Are you impressed by that? Or you could say, like Mackenzie, hey,
I expected it all along. No. I do think that
the lineup that the Mavericks are having to put on
the floor, you know, having Cleber out there for so

(10:36):
many minutes and him being essentially the biggest guy on
the floor for them and he's not an interior presence,
I think that they're just giving up a lot of
that rebounding and the you know, obviously missing so many
of the threes that they've been taken. His help with
the rebounding for the Warriors as well. And I've been
you know, you mentioned how how many threes they've shot.
I've been surprised that they're shooting three more threes per

(10:59):
game the the next closest team in the playoffs. And
this is a team that was league average in three
point percentage for the season, so shooting way more than
everybody else in these playoffs. But they're just an average
three point shooting team. It's not working out for him
right now. Well, listen, the reason there's been a revolution
in the n b A since Golden States emergence years ago,

(11:23):
since the lineup of death is the simple math is saying, hey,
if you shoot average at threes, or you shoot average
at twos, you're better shooting average at threes. Right, Three
is more than two. So to some degree, shooting average
and making it up on volume isn't a problem. Right.
The problem is if you're blow average everywhere else. Right,

(11:44):
If you're if you're average at threes and you're shooting
a lot of them, but you're you're very below average
at two's, that's the problem. Wouldn't you say yes and
with this particular lineup not having an interior presence. That's
what's happened. They are below average as a two point
shooting team. So McCay a rebounding team, which is obviously
important as well. Yeah, so mackenzie, we uncovered some numbers.

(12:04):
We were looking at points in the paint, we were
looking at rebounding. If I said, give me one or
two of them, that most tells the story about Gold
State being up three. Oh, what would you say? I
would say three and o, three and o and points
in the paint advantage three and o and rebounding advantage.
And to put a pin on it, fourteen points more
per game in the paint and fourteen more rebounds for

(12:25):
the Warriors over the MAVs on average per game. Yes, okay,
So what you're saying is Dallas is one or lost
the rebounding battle every game. Three games. They've lost it
three times. Dallas has lost the points in the paint
three times, alright, Game one, game two, game three. And
you're saying, when you added up the points in the

(12:46):
paint and the rebounding, the differential is not small. It's
double digits in each case. Yes, exactly. And that's The
story I think isn't the threes. It's that there's nothing else.
The Dallas seems to be doing well last or day Jack.
I also think another thing to think about is Luca
and how poor he's been defensively a guy who is that?

(13:07):
Is that something different than we would expect? You know,
I get I just the way I looked at it
was he's scoring thirty four points a game and their
minus sixty one this series when he's on the floor.
That that just doesn't add up to me, that a
guy could be scoring at that high of a level
and there's still the team is still performing so poorly.

(13:27):
The Mavericks are plus eighteen in the series when Luca
is not on the floor. Here's the question. That's a
great stat and here's the question that will be one
going on after Game four and in the next year.
You know, we could say will Luca get into shape
or not? And all that, and that's a valid debate.
Early he plays himself in the shape, but is he hardened?

(13:49):
Is he Westbrook ball centric? Obviously how usage rate, but
seemingly not getting to others involved enough. That's the question. Lebron,
there's in various times in his career, he's been very
ball centric, but he gets others involved. He's a great passer.
Luca can make some outstanding passes, but does he have

(14:10):
an appetite? You know, they say a willing defender. Is
he a willing pass or sometimes he is, sometimes he's not?
He if he goes to Hardened Way, which again was
one of the most amazing players we've ever seen. He
didn't win the Ultimate Prize, but what Harden was doing
in seventeen eighteen, we've never quite seen that. It was unbelievable.
If Luca becomes at he'll be a marvel, But will

(14:31):
he be a champion? And I think a lot of
that has to do with integrating the other players, and
a lot of it has to do the who the
other players are. Remember that last word, I would say,
Remember James Harden played with several Hall of Famers, Russell
Westbrook and Chris Paul and Dwight Howard. Luca hasn't had
that luxury yet. Yeah, yeah, I mean it's been different times.
I mean, you know, obviously Harden played with Hall of

(14:52):
Famers when they were very young. I mean that listen
that Okay, see team was favored over the Miami Heat team.
When Brown won his first title, they had home court
and they were favored. But in hindsight, it looks like,
oh lebron one that was obvious. Now they could have
won there no doubt about it. Let's take our first break.
When we come back, we'll put a bow on the
various uh Dallas postmortem and and funeral went away. But

(15:17):
it's time for Mackenzie to answer to his condescending ways
when he said, oh Boston, yeah, clearly so much better.
Does he still believe it? Stay tuned, Hey, it's Ben,
