Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
Welcome to Fox Sports Saturday at Alex Curry here with
Carmen Vitale.

Speaker 3 (00:08):
Thank you for spending your Saturday afternoon with Carmi and me.

Speaker 2 (00:11):
We are back Baby Festival Curry and Festival Carmen had
a time last weekend. I was at Beach Live. Carmen
was a jazz vest in New Orleans. But guess what,
We're back just in time for Netflix as a joke
here in La.

Speaker 3 (00:25):
You guys. It all kicked off with the Brady Roast.

Speaker 2 (00:27):
We're gonna get to that in a bit, but that
was like absolute genius marketing.

Speaker 4 (00:33):
It really was.

Speaker 2 (00:33):
The it was and it was also the first roast.
I used to work roasts behind the scenes. They're usually
pre taped and then they like compact it into an
hour and a half with all the best stuff.

Speaker 3 (00:44):
This is the first time it was like live. So
we got a full three hours, which.

Speaker 4 (00:47):
Was and they kept it three hours and then they
put it back up.

Speaker 3 (00:50):
Yeah, the Netflix kept it.

Speaker 4 (00:51):
A couple of little.

Speaker 2 (00:52):
Things that were over the yeah, that we're learning about now.
But there's four hundred comedy shows around LA this week.

Speaker 4 (00:58):
I know which is I'm going tomorrow. Incredible Taylor Tomlinson.

Speaker 2 (01:02):
I love that. I went to Ali Wong at the
Wilter on Wednesday. I'm going to Chelsea Handler tonight, like
I love. Husband's going to Tim Robinson. So I think
you should leave, which sold out so fast and I'm
so jealous.

Speaker 3 (01:14):
I wanted to go to that, gosh, but it's so cringey.
I can't stop. We were talking about that about you guys.

Speaker 2 (01:19):
We had a really fun car right here, as you know,
Carmen and I carpool and then we had two more
people Like in our.

Speaker 3 (01:24):
Car, I learned Carmen can't watch cringe worthy things.

Speaker 4 (01:27):
I can't. I can't even watch reality TV.

Speaker 3 (01:29):
Well, I don't watch reality TV. Sports are my reality.

Speaker 4 (01:31):
TV exactly, but the like my parents watched The Bachelor
growing up, and I would learn, like Room.

Speaker 3 (01:37):
I can't, I can't. I can't do that kind of stuff.

Speaker 4 (01:39):
It's too cringy. And yeah, I can't watch. I think
you should leave.

Speaker 3 (01:43):
That took me.

Speaker 2 (01:44):
Okay, that's probably the most watched thing in our household
because my husband and our best friend are obsessed with
it and it's always on.

Speaker 4 (01:51):
My boyfriend is constantly quoting it, and I'm like, yeah, babe,
I don't know what you're doing.

Speaker 2 (01:55):
I just got into it like four months ago, and
now I love it.

Speaker 3 (01:58):
Now, I love it. You got it.

Speaker 2 (01:59):
You got to give it a chance. We're gonna get
you there. Okay, we're gonna get you there. We are
broadcasting live from the tyrek dot Com studios tyrec dot com.
We'll help you get there an unmatched selection, fast free shipping,

we've got a great show lined up for you guys.

Speaker 3 (02:19):
Today.

Speaker 2 (02:19):
We have Live Moods joining us in about thirty minutes
to talk all things Denver, Nuggets, Broncos, her new show.
We have Cincinnati reporter Kelsey Conway to break down where
this Bengals team is at right now. We have producer
Patrick with us today, a technical producer Chris Purfett, Martin
Weiss at the news desk.

Speaker 3 (02:36):
But guys, this is our first show post drafts.

Speaker 2 (02:38):
That was the last time we were with you, So
we're gonna have some fun and each share three teams
that we are most excited to watch this season. Now,
it could be for any reason, like it's not just
because like we think they're gonna be the best team.
It's like, eh, there might be something interesting to watch here.
It could be good, could be weird. So that's what
we're gonna we're gonna start with. And I am personally

(03:02):
excited for a little bit of quarterback battle drama. Okay, yes,
the media to the media.

Speaker 4 (03:10):
Talk about a reality show.

Speaker 2 (03:11):
Yeah, this is We've got a couple like this would
be epic reality shows. Oh wait, which one is Hard Knocks?
They were talking about was going to be probably Chicago.

Speaker 3 (03:21):
Yeah, I mean I think it's going to be like
that's that's probably going to be.

Speaker 2 (03:27):
Okay, So the first team I want to start with
are the Steelers. Now, there's a lot to unpack here. First,
it's Mike Tomlin's last year on his contract. He hasn't
had a losing season in seventeen years, and he just
picked up two new quarterbacks that he doesn't have loyalty
really to either of them, Russell Wilson and Justin Fields,

(03:48):
and both of these guys have so much to prove
this year. Now from the obvious what we're hearing, Russ
is said to be the starting quarterback, but at the
end of the day, Steelers are paying him league minimum,
Broncos are paying him millions to play.

Speaker 4 (04:05):
The bulk of his still coming from.

Speaker 2 (04:07):
For another team, and he's coming off a record in
Denver at eleven and nineteen over two years. He does
have a Super Bowl ring and is an established quarterback,
but really took a step back with his move with
the Broncos. And you have Justin Fields, who also, yeah,
has a career to prove. He did not have a
winning season in Chicago. He was ten and twenty eight

(04:30):
over three years. And then on top of all of that,
the Steelers are in a very tough division, the AFC North,
with the Ravens, the Browns, the Bengals, and they don't
have an easy schedule at all. And if Russ is
struggling halfway through the season, they don't have loyalty to him.
I could see him throwing Justin Fields, Let's just see
what do we have to lose, Let's just see what

(04:51):
we got.

Speaker 3 (04:51):
So that is my first team. That's interesting. I'm really
excited to say. I think that.

Speaker 4 (04:57):
I think there's something to be said though, that the
Steelers had such a quarter at Carousel this year and
Mike Toman is going to try to avoid that this year,
like last season was you two.

Speaker 3 (05:07):
Starting guys though that were starting last year.

Speaker 4 (05:09):
I would use the term starting with Justin Fields right
now loosely because I think that the reason that he
went to Pittsburgh is to have a development here and
to make sure that he can kind of get back
on check because Chicago didn't do him any favors when
he first got into the league, and he needs to
gain some of that confidence back. So like, let him
sit back while you have the nine time pro bowler, but.

Speaker 3 (05:28):
We don't know what if he's like a new environment,
new coach, new city, new team. You never know, you
never know.

Speaker 2 (05:36):
That's why, like, this is why I'm very interesting ideal.

Speaker 4 (05:40):
On board with you because I'm very interested to see
how this this all ends up shaking out. I'm going
to go to Justin Field's old team. Yeah, who's your
first shocker? Yeah, shocker ball Shockers. I want to see
what Chicago Bearers actually look like this year. It's gonna
be very interesting because I grew up in Chicago. Yeah,
I have skewed defense for my entire fandom, my entire life.

(06:03):
I've been all about defense. My favorite player of all
time is Lance Briggs, Like I that's.

Speaker 3 (06:09):
All I had.

Speaker 2 (06:09):
That was Chicago's identity, and it's what they leaned back.
It's like what they fell back on for decades. Yes,
the pass man there.

Speaker 4 (06:19):
If you look at the quarterback play, the Bears have
obviously never had a four thousand yard passer. They've never
had a thirty touchdown passer their quarterback. Their rookie quarterback
records are even more dismal. It's like twenty two hundred
yards and eleven touchdowns.

Speaker 1 (06:31):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (06:32):
So I'm very interested to see, now that the Bears
have invested so much in their offense, what it's actually
going to look like. With Caleb Williams, who has been
training for this moment his entire life. This is a
guy who he was in grade school said I'm going
to be the first overall pick in the NFL draft,
and guess what. He was the first overall pick in
the NFL draft. Can he follow through? Can he continue

(06:55):
to follow through I should say, on the promises he
made to himself. Yes, and all of the things that
it just seems like finally, Ryan Poles has curated a
wonderful landing spot, a wonderful.

Speaker 3 (07:08):
Roster bottom weapons.

Speaker 4 (07:10):
The organization for the first time in my life, looks
like it's actually set up to develop a quarterback. Yeah,
and I'm like that will Ferrell Talladay at It's meme
where I'm like, I don't I don't know what to
do with my hands.

Speaker 3 (07:20):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (07:21):
Actually, our good friend Rago Nick Rego at Fox he's
a huge Bears fan, had a social for Fox Digital
and he sent me that meme yesterday because he's just like,
I don't know what to do with all this buzz
And this is the thing though, this is not the
first time the Bears have been hyped up in the
off season. Yeah, so now I want to see if
they can actually execute and follow through. But not only

(07:42):
did Ryan Poles take years building this roster, but also
Caleb Williams has been training for years for this, and
his offensive coordinator, Shane Waldron, has known him for years
through the Quarterback Collective. There's a video of them working
together in twenty seventeen.

Speaker 2 (07:59):
I didn't think about that. That's gonna be a that's
gonna be a positive.

Speaker 4 (08:02):
They should be kind of gelling very well. And I'm
interested to see how this is all executed because again
it's all about the execution.

Speaker 1 (08:10):
Now.

Speaker 4 (08:10):
The plan is set, it's a rock solid plan, yes,
but is it going to go according to that is
my questions.

Speaker 2 (08:17):
And I think you have majority of the eyes football
fans and NFL players. With all of the hype around it,
I think most people are gonna like, we're going to
tune into the first game.

Speaker 4 (08:28):
Everybody, I agree. I mean, Chicago is such a huge market.
The Bears are huge to have a huge fan base,
it's nationwide. It's one of the most followed teams in
the NFL, behind like the Dallas Cowboys. Yeah, and everybody
is going to be watching. But Caleb Williams is used
to that, so.

Speaker 3 (08:42):
Yeah, we'll see.

Speaker 2 (08:43):
I'm excited, okay, my second team. I'm excited to watch
the Chargers.

Speaker 3 (08:50):
Oh yeah, yeah.

Speaker 2 (08:51):
I hopefully they got their coach right finally and Jim Harbaugh,
he's coming off a natty seems to bring that culture
that the Chargers have been missing and they have their guy.

Speaker 3 (09:01):
So we've been talking about Justin Herbert.

Speaker 2 (09:03):
There's been a lot of talk around his talent, but
there has been no playoff wins to show forties thirty
thirty two in his career with the Chargers.

Speaker 3 (09:10):
Over four years, every.

Speaker 2 (09:11):
Season there has been the excuse, maybe it's not the
right coaching staff, maybe just pile after pile a pile
of excuses.

Speaker 3 (09:21):
This is the year where we're going to know the truth.

Speaker 2 (09:23):
There's going to be too many eyes on you to
be mediocre. Obviously, they're in the AFC West, so the
Chiefs are always going to be their biggest.

Speaker 4 (09:32):
Challenge, the biggest challenge for the entire per.

Speaker 2 (09:35):
Everybody's But they should be able to finish second in
the division. They should take both games against the Broncos
and the Raiders. And I don't want to say they
have an easy schedule, but they have a lot of
winnable games. As I mentioned Broncos, Raiders, They're playing the Saints,
the Titans, Panthers, Patriots. Like there's a lot of winnable games.

(09:56):
It's not the toughest schedule that they have. So there's
been so much hype around Justin Herbert since he got
in the league but hasn't gotten that playoff win. And
there was like, maybe it's not the right personnel, maybe
it's not the right coach. Now you got Jim Harbond,
Now you have the culture, the talent, the leadership, this

(10:18):
is the year you gotta do something. Who's your second team?

Speaker 4 (10:22):
I kind of took a little the easy way out
with two teams in my division, but not for the
reason everybody thinks the Green Bay Packers. Okay, obviously, we
want to see if now that Jordan Love has more
of a target on his back, if he can continue
this upward trajectory that we saw. I mean, he started
the season a little rocky and then just kind of
shot up and by the end of the year, obviously
the Packers of the youngest team in the division and

(10:43):
went to the divisional round. Yeah, or the youngest team
in the league, I should say, went to the divisional round.
Can you a sustain that?

Speaker 3 (10:49):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (10:50):
But the biggest storyline to me is the defense. Because
the defense had under perform for years, they now bring
in Jeff Hafley as their defensive coordinator at it entirely
different scheme. He's were going to run a base four
to three for the first We're going to see a
base four three in Green Bay for the first time
since two thousand and eight, fifteen years. Now, defensive scheme
is more fluid than ever. You're what your base is,

(11:12):
doesn't necessarily matter as much as it used to, but
I'm very interested to see they spent a lot of
money on a safety and Xavier McKinney. They also went
out and they got another safety in the draft from
Georgia that Javon Bullard, who I really really like. They
actually invest in the offensive line again with their first
round pick Morgan from Arizona. So I'm interested to see
if they filled all those holes and what this defense

(11:33):
is going to look like, and if this defense can
support Jordan Love so that the Packers returned to that
division title conversation, because I think that they're very close.

Speaker 3 (11:42):
They're close. They got lucky. I think the world was
shocked at how good Jordan Love ended up being.

Speaker 4 (11:47):
They've been doing this stuff my whole life, so it's
one of those things where I it's not luck, this
is this is exactly what they were planning on happening,
and this is a plan that was executed to perfection.

Speaker 2 (11:58):
All right, let's get to our third, third, and final
team that we are looking forward to.

Speaker 3 (12:04):
And excited to watch this season.

Speaker 2 (12:06):
Mine's going to be the team that got all the
way and fell short. The San Francisco forty nine ers
now They had everything going for them last season except
that they were playing Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid in
the Super Bowl.

Speaker 3 (12:19):
And at this point, no.

Speaker 2 (12:19):
Way, no one can be everybody and we read even
on a quote down yet. But what I love to
see is how a team can bounce back and can
they recover. We saw what happened with the Eagles last
season after they lost to the Chiefs and the Super Bowl.
The year before, they started out with a bang, going
ten to one, and then fell off a cliff and
finished the season one and five. Now the forty nine Ers,

(12:40):
who have one of the best coaches in the league,
Kyle Shanahan, they're all around one of the strongest teams.
Last year, brock Purty led the league in passer rating
third and passing touchdowns. Offensively, they were second in yards
per game, third and points per game. Defensively, they were
tied for first and interceptions third in points allowed per game.
So they still have a They still have a good core,

(13:05):
right but their guys are, again, as is everybody else
in the league, getting older. They have a semi difficult schedule,
possible opportunity to repeat win NFC WES and make it
to the NFC Championship Game for a third year in
a row. But I I'm always like, it's always so

(13:26):
interesting when you like almost go all the way and
don't quite get it and fall short.

Speaker 3 (13:31):
It's like, what are you going to do?

Speaker 4 (13:33):
That's the thing too.

Speaker 2 (13:34):
Yeah, NFC Championship game back to back years, Like they've
had all the pieces.

Speaker 3 (13:39):
Shanahan just can't get over that Super Bowl hump.

Speaker 4 (13:42):
And it's Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reads fault.

Speaker 3 (13:44):
Yeah, okay, who's your third team?

Speaker 4 (13:46):
My third team is the Houston Texans because I am
very interesting. Again, did you talk about pleasant surprises? Yeah,
no one thought that they were going to be able
to put it all together that quickly.

Speaker 3 (13:58):
Nod Shaun maybe like CJ that, yeah.

Speaker 4 (14:02):
Exactly, and obviously Jamika Ryans and Nick Sari other GM
But honestly, it was the Deshaun Watson trade that gave
them so much capital and so much wiggle room to
remake this roster very very quickly. So they did that.
They had a ton of success this year. But now
they're not taking anybody by surprise, but they did. They

(14:23):
did add some veterans to try and add some experience
that guys that have been in the playoffs, guys that
have understand what it's like to have a successful run
in Stefan Diggs and in Joe Mixing. But we're gonna
see what it looks like when they do have a
target on their back. And the AFC South, I think

(14:43):
the Titans are going to give them a little bit
more more problems than we think. I think the Colts
could give them more problems than we think. But it
should be kind of a down division, down year for
the division.

Speaker 3 (14:53):
Again.

Speaker 4 (14:53):
Yeah, they should be able to get out of the
AFC South pretty easily, but then again, you're talking about
running into the Chiefs, You're talking running into the Bills
in the playoffs. You're talk about running into these AFC powerhouses,
And how are they going to handle that? Now that
that is the expectation. It was not the expectation last year.
It is now the expectation for the Houston texass to
make the postseason this year.

Speaker 3 (15:12):
It's exciting.

Speaker 2 (15:12):
So we've already gotten some preseason camps going on. We're
going to get to that a little later, but we're
going to take a quick break here when we come back.

Speaker 2 (16:07):
Welcome back to Fox Sports Saturday. I'm Alex Curry here
with Carmen Vitali. We are broadcasting live from entire dot
Com studios in Los Angeles. Thank you for spending your
Saturday after noon.

Speaker 3 (16:18):
I carme and me.

Speaker 2 (16:19):
But guys, Sunday kicked off Netflix is a joke here
in LA and it started with quite possibly the greatest
roast of all time, the roast of Tom Brady. Like,
thank you, roastmasters for the greatest gift that we've seen
in sports comedy probably ever. It was epic, It was legendary,

(16:42):
It was spicy, it was shocking, and it was funny,
like people that I didn't know could be funny were funny.
And the fact that they got Tom Brady, Bill Belichick,
and Robert Kraft all to attend and participate take a
shot together was mind blowing and beautifully con.

Speaker 4 (16:58):
Hard making that happened, Like you could tell, it was
so awkward. Nobody wanted to be a part of that.
Belichick especially did not want to be a part of that.
But what was he going to do?

Speaker 2 (17:09):
Can we talk about the full like rebrand that Belichick
is going through and this was like a huge part
of that as well.

Speaker 4 (17:15):
It's so funny because I had heard from like a
bunch of the guys that had played him like, like
he does have a personality.

Speaker 2 (17:22):
I think like after he didn't get a job, he's
like not coaching at the moment, he's like not in
charge of a team.

Speaker 3 (17:29):
Like he's like he's got a PR. He got a
PR person he had to.

Speaker 4 (17:34):
Oh, I'm sure he did, especially if he's going into broadcasting,
which he is, because he's going to be a regular
guest on the Banning cast.

Speaker 2 (17:39):
But yeah, so Pat McAfee, he's going to be like
on that show.

Speaker 3 (17:43):
But we actually heard we had Julian Edelman.

Speaker 2 (17:45):
Talk about what it was like between like all of
these people backstage tension.

Speaker 4 (17:51):
In that room. Though it was it was real.

Speaker 1 (17:53):
He had cut it was it was very real.

Speaker 4 (17:56):
It was real. I was so awkward.

Speaker 6 (17:58):
I was like, I was watching Coach and I tried
to give Coach a heads up.

Speaker 4 (18:03):
I'm like, I see Craft walking, I'm like, you know,
coach locker room like five oh five, oh, you know, like.

Speaker 1 (18:13):
He did. Of course he didn't.

Speaker 3 (18:15):
See it right, and he came in and I was like, oh.

Speaker 4 (18:18):
This could be some fireworks. I just walked away like.

Speaker 2 (18:22):
It is insane. I think it shocked everybody that that
actually happened. But then at the end of the day,
like it was such an awesome event that it actually
went down, and everybody was like open to like what
a roast is, right, because we heard like Nikki Glazer,
let me just say, put on a masterclass on how.

Speaker 3 (18:40):
To do a roast.

Speaker 4 (18:41):
She had the biggest winner of the night.

Speaker 3 (18:42):
Every line was hilarious and intentional.

Speaker 2 (18:45):
Tom was a great sport, but she even talked about
it like she's I think she was on Howard Stern
after and he asked her, like, do you get hurt
like when people like come back at you with these roasts,
And she's like, yeah, all the time, Like you mentally
prepare yourself to be like I'm gonna be okay, this
is the worst thing.

Speaker 4 (19:03):
Of jokes about me being you know this and a that,
and you're just like, yeah, yeah, She's like she was
preparing for it.

Speaker 3 (19:10):
You have to, but she said, as much as you
can prepare for it, it still hurts. And like when
we were watching it seemed like Tom was having a
really good time and he was being a good sport.
But she shared that he didn't go to the after
party and they don't think that he expected so many
jokes about him losing his family.

Speaker 4 (19:29):
Oh that's what really. I don't know how you don't
prepare for that. You fumbled the bag with us through
the most famous supermodel in the world, in the world,
and you don't expect people are gonna throw that in
your face.

Speaker 3 (19:38):
That was gonna be number one. Absolutely, that was going
to be number one. I mean.

Speaker 2 (19:43):
Two of my favorite lines. I'll start one had to
do with that. Kevin Hart said, Giselle gave you an ultimatum.
She said, you retire or we're done. When you got
a chance to go eight to nine and all will
cost you your wife and kids.

Speaker 3 (19:55):
I mean, you gotta do what you gotta do.

Speaker 4 (19:58):
Like, I know, that was great. Kevin Hart was awesome.

Speaker 3 (20:01):
He was great.

Speaker 2 (20:02):
My second Peyton Manning introducing Tom Brady as please welcome
the three time Super Bowl loser, Tom Brady. I lost it.
I absolutely lost. I mean there were so many epic moments.

Speaker 4 (20:13):
Honestly, Drew Bledsoe really took me by surprise because he
just likes with his own wine, which is such a flex.
And then it just goes, well, Tom, you know, I
know that you've built. Like talking about how Tom had
so much success off the team he built was funny.
But then he like ends it with I've experienced things

(20:34):
that you've never experienced before and you will never experience,
and he goes two things you'll never experience as being
a first overall pick in the NFL Draft and a
twenty eighth wedding anniversary. Happy anniversary, baby, it was yesterday
and I was like, oh my god, and Tom like
just put up both of his drinks and just like
started shock getting them.

Speaker 3 (20:53):
You know who I felt bad for.

Speaker 2 (20:55):
Though, Gronk, Yeah he got ripped, but I mean, come on,
Nikki Glazers like, oh but she was like Tom, how
did you?

Speaker 3 (21:03):
Yeah, even Gronk send me know that not real money,
Like it was just it was so beautiful.

Speaker 2 (21:09):
It was so I know, your friends with Gronk and
your friends with like the whole family. But that's what
a roast is, and that's I I want to like
keep reminding everybody. It's like you are doing this and again,
like this is your choice. Thank you for doing it
because it was beautiful and so entertaining and so fun
for us, but like you are subjecting yourself to literally
get torn to pieces. And Tom's never publicly had that.

(21:32):
He's been he is the goat.

Speaker 3 (21:33):
He's yeah, and the best.

Speaker 4 (21:36):
He's notorious for having very a lot of control over
what goes out about him, even like the twelve part
documentary that other stuff is that, Like he's very heavily
involved in stuff like that, so he very carefully curates
what gets out about him, what gets said about You
can't do that, and you can't do that in a roast.
I really I enjoyed that. But I enjoyed that Tom
gave it back as hard as he was getting it
because his ending. Yeah, I literally melted into the couch.

(22:00):
When he called out Bill Belichick for sneaking out of
some girl's house at six o'clock in the morning very recently,
I was like, oh my god, he didn't but he did,
and it was it was off limits for him. Either
was off and I appreciated that because obviously he had
sat there and he had taken it.

Speaker 2 (22:17):
Yeh, except for Robert Kraft, because you looked at Kevin
Hart and Kevin Hart said, I know, I know you
said nothing like making fun of you.

Speaker 4 (22:23):
He went up to the podium with Jeff Ross after
Jeff Ross made a joke about Robert Kraft and he's like,
don't ever say that again. And I was like, whoa, Yeah,
I know he's a billionaire. But like he showed up
to the roast, he knew he was fair game. He
didn't have to come. I know, it comes with the territory.
It was so good, it was, and honestly so, I
have a really good friend that was there. He was
actually on stage. He was part of the Buccaneers section. Yeah,

(22:45):
and he he was telling me, He's like, you know what,
it was good to get back to some like non
woke like comedy, just like not really caring what people said,
because I'm like, we haven't had that any.

Speaker 3 (22:55):
We haven't had this kind of comedy in a long time.

Speaker 2 (22:57):
So good job. Netflix is a joke. Thank you Tom
Brady for being so open to it. Like that was
that was gold. But now let's check in with Martin
Wis and see what's trending.

Speaker 6 (23:09):
Game three of the Mavericks and the thunder series right
now thirty eight apiece. The scorers tied five minutes left
in the second quarter. PJ Washington leading all scores with sixteen.
He's seven to ten from the floor. He's having a
pretty good game so far. Shay Gildens Alexander thirteen points
on the thunder side. Also, Luca Donatics and Kyrier are irving,
combining for twelve points so far in the first half.

(23:30):
Kyrie go only with four. He's been slow to start
so in pretty much every playoff game so far. We'll
see if he turns it up in the second half.
The Boston Celtics and the Cleveland Cavaliers. The second half
of this doubleheader right now, eight thirty Eastern expected to
be the tip off for that. Jared Allen questionable with
I'm sorry game time decision with a rib injury. Chris

(23:51):
hes Pazinka is obviously still out. In the NHL Game four,
Rangers at the Hurricanes, the puck drop seven pm Eastern,
New York has a three to nothing lead in that series.
Three ten pm Eastern, the Stars and the Avalanche tied
one game apiece. The Patriots officially announced Elliott Wolf will
be the executive vice president of Player Personnel. Bears first
round pick Roma Denze missing the second day of practice

(24:11):
with the strand hamstring team says his absence is just precautionary.
Jarvis Landry, former pro bowler, had a down year twenty
twenty two, didn't play at all in twenty twenty three. Well,
he's starting all over and trying to make a team.
He's at Jaguar Rookie Mini camp right now, and the
Buffalo Bills invited the professional lacrosse player Zed Williams to
participate in their rookie mini camp. He was All Pro

(24:32):
and an MVP in twenty twenty in the Pro Lacrosse League,
and I would like to say your next guest, Live Moods.
I want to congratulate her ahead of time, before she even.

Speaker 4 (24:40):
Comes on the air on her new show.

Speaker 6 (24:42):
I met her at the Super Bowl a few years
back and I've been following her ever since. Her and
my buddy Alex Monica, I kind of met them at
the same time. So congratulations to Live Moods and back
to you guys.

Speaker 3 (24:52):
Ah, thank you Martin.

Speaker 2 (24:54):
You're listening to Fox Sports Saturday Alex Curry with Carmen Vitally.
We are broadcasting live from the Tyrek dot Com studio
in Los Angeles, So let's.

Speaker 3 (25:01):
Bring in our first guest.

Speaker 2 (25:02):
She is the host of With all due respect, She's
a Denver native has all of the spicy hot takes
on social.

Speaker 3 (25:09):
Please welcome Live Moods to the show.

Speaker 7 (25:13):
Hello everybody, Thank you for having me.

Speaker 2 (25:16):
Congratulations Han, this is awesome a new show.

Speaker 3 (25:20):
Can't wait to hear all about it.

Speaker 2 (25:21):
But before we get to that, we got to talk
about your nuggets, because what is going on. After blowing
through the Lakers in the first round, they're kind of
off to a slow start. Yes, they got the win
last night, but up a little bit last night. We
woke up a little bit last night, but it's not
what's going on here doesn't feel like the exact same
team that we saw against the Lakers in the first round.

Speaker 7 (25:43):
No, And honestly, it's definitely not the same team that
we saw win a championship last year either. And I
have to tell you, I don't know what the answer
is because as a fan, I'm still trying to figure
it out. I think what we're seeing with the Nuggets
most of the time, and in a lot of these games,
even winning in a gentleman's sleep against the Lakers, we
saw them really struggling in the first half. They're playing

(26:03):
this very pace yourself game of basketball right now. And
we saw them go down two in this series against
the Timberwolves, and then I seriously think we saw a
completely different group of players in Game three. It was
like they did a complete one eighty. So they've got
this mindset. It seems of like, let's pace ourselves. We're
not going to exert all our energy right away. But

(26:25):
if you play with your food too long, it could
be a problem. So I'm really hoping that now that
they've paced themselves, they went down two, got a great,
great win in Game three, hopefully we won't be playing
with our food any longer because they will bite them
for sure.

Speaker 4 (26:38):
I want to know, though, is this more kind of
a symptom of what the Timberwolves. I know, everybody thought
that they were good, but good Lord, especially in the
first two games, they look practically unstoppable. Is this just
kind of one of those things where people were underestimating
what the Timberwolves we're going.

Speaker 3 (26:54):
To bring to this series?

Speaker 7 (26:56):
Absolutely? I mean I think that I have always looked
at this tim World's team and been very, very fearful.
I actually said before this series started that whoever wins
this series, to me, is going to win the championship
because I think the Western Conference has been the most competitive,
and to me, these are the two teams that are
probably the best in the NBA right now. But I
think what we're seeing with the Timberwolves is maybe some

(27:18):
of the best defense in the postseason that we've seen
in a while. We talk about Jamal Murray a lot,
I know I do anyways, and his inconsistencies, and I
talk to people about is this inconsistencies in his game?
Are we finally seeing some flogs from Jamal Murray? Or
is this just credit that needs to be given to
this Timberwolves and Lakers defense that's able to stop Jamal

(27:39):
Murray from being so efficient?

Speaker 1 (27:41):
Right?

Speaker 7 (27:41):
He had three of eighteen, I believe in Game two
when it was horribly embarrassing, and in fact, I had
to turn it off the game I could not watch
any longer. But we've seen guys like Jamal Murray really struggling.
We've even't seen Yokich not scoring as efficiently as normal.
So I think it really is a testament to this
def offensive run that we're seeing by the Timberwolves.

Speaker 2 (28:02):
Okay, so what changes need to be made by the
Nuggets to have a chance to advance to the Western
Conference Finals?

Speaker 7 (28:10):
So yeah, I'm hoping that I am.

Speaker 1 (28:13):
I am.

Speaker 7 (28:13):
You know, maybe they're tuning in and listening and they
can hear exactly what I'm saying. Lock and gets it up.

Speaker 4 (28:19):
Coach Live right now? Coach Live.

Speaker 7 (28:21):
Yeah, Coach Live is here. And I honestly think Game
three for me when they started playing, I was like
immediately comfortable. And I'll tell you why I love this
version of the Denver Nuggets. When Jokic does not prioritize scoring,
I think a lot of times. This team just like
us as fans says, Oh, we're good. We got Nicole Jokich,

(28:41):
the best player in the world.

Speaker 8 (28:42):
We're good.

Speaker 7 (28:42):
We're good. But the timberwill found a way to lock
him down a little bit, so if he can't score,
somebody else has to pick up the slack. So when
I saw in Game three, Jokis is really prioritizing the
facilitating that needed to be done. He was feeding it
to guys like Gordon finding MPJ. In the three, we
even saw our bench have way more production because we
weren't relying on Yoks minutes to get the job done.

(29:05):
And I think that that is when this team is
the most dangerous. I think this is the best starting
five in the NBA. I still believe that even after
Game one, in Game two of this series, So if
we can get Yolks in facilitation mode, the scoring is
going to happen regardless. But I love when we see
him really feeding the ball and getting everybody else involved
because I think that's when they're the most dangerous. So

(29:25):
I think that's what we saw in Game three. Hopefully
we see that again in Game four live.

Speaker 2 (29:29):
I want to go back to the Jamal Murray situation.
He received one hundred thousand dollars fine for throwing that
heating towel onto the court during the game two loss.

Speaker 3 (29:38):
What are your thoughts and reactions on all of this?

Speaker 7 (29:41):
Yeah, I was very disappointed. I think that one thing
I have loved about being a Denver sports fan is
Denver's kind of like that, like humble. No one really
dislikes the team, you know, so when they won a
championship last year, it's like, oh, okay, who is Denver anyway?
Nobody's known about the Nuggets or talked about the Nuggets,
and here they and I've always respected how humbled that

(30:02):
they are. And I didn't love the moment, But I
also know these are grown men, and they have emotions
and they're competitive. I think the perspective that people are forgetting.
I personally think there should have been a suspension. And
I'll tell you why. It's a safety concern for me.
If the timberwol player threw that on the court, and
God forbid, KCP slips and hurts his hip or yokicqueaks

(30:22):
his knee or rolls his ankle, I would belivid. So
I can't be a hypocrite.

Speaker 8 (30:26):
I can't say yeah just.

Speaker 7 (30:29):
Because it's Jamal. I have to keep that same energy.
I have to, you know, understand that he made a mistake,
and I don't think that he had bad intentions in
doing it, but you kind of have to make an
example out of situations like that that, hey, you're lucky
that nothing happened, but something could have happened that would
have been really, really horrible in a playoff situation or

(30:50):
just in general. So from a safety perspective that I
don't think many people are thinking about. I do think
there should have been a suspension. I think he probably
should have spent a little more time addressing the situation, apologizing.
I get he wanted to move on, but listen, what
ultimately happened is the Timberwolves probably agreed he should have
been suspended. He was not. They booed him every time

(31:10):
he touched the ball, and unfortunately booze actually helped Jamal Murray.
And that's exactly what we saw.

Speaker 4 (31:17):
Last night Live. If you can indulge me a little bit,
I want to talk about your Broncos as well, because
they're one of the teams that I think everybody's going
to be looking at this year. Just because of how
spectacularly everything fell to pieces with Russell Wilson. Now you
bring in bow Nicks, who you made a top twelve pick.
Very I was shocked at that. But at the same time,
I know Sean Payton. I know he gets fixated on

(31:39):
his guys and he sees bow Nicks I think is
his next Drew Brees type of project. What has been
the reaction in Denver? Are they excited about bow Were
they also surprised? Do they have faith in Sean Payton
to mold him into what we saw from Drew Brees
all those years at the Saints? What's the vibe?

Speaker 7 (31:59):
I think that's honestly, the biggest vibe is hopefully the
Ads and Nuggets can hold us.

Speaker 8 (32:06):
No matter what happens with There's a lot of pressure
on these uh sports right now to keep us alive.

Speaker 7 (32:16):
But no, and in full honesty, I think that what
people struggled with initially with Sean Payton was kind of
coming and again he walked into such a hot mess
express that was so many Yeah, it was a dumpster fire,
and not only was he trying to make changes, but
he was also cleaning up messes. And so I think

(32:37):
that we expected a lot from him right right off
the bat, which was probably unfair of us as fans,
But when you've been in this rotation of quarterbacks so frequently,
you kind of start to get frustrated. I do think
that Sean Payton is a phenomenal coach and will do
great things. It's one of those trust the process situations.
I was very excited to see Bo Nicks get a

(32:58):
weapon that he is familiar you're with, because I think
so much of what being a Broncos fan is is
this patience of we'll get there, we'll get there, and
then we look at the clock on our arm and
we say we're not there, but exactly you kind of
run out of patience. But I think having Bo already
with somebody on the field that he's familiar with is

(33:20):
going to be a really great thing. And I think
what we're seeing with the trays and with the players
that are staying and going, I think a lot of
what Sean Payton is trying to do right now is
rebuild culture, and I think that's something that Broncos have
struggled with a lot. So I trust his process. I
just I would say the overall Broncos fan feeling is
that we're just running out of patience. So hopefully we

(33:41):
start to see some of the things that Sean Payton
has been working on behind the scenes actually become wins,
because ultimately, that's all that football fans care about, just
when the football game going.

Speaker 2 (33:54):
Exactly what would you consider a successful season? Like how
many many wins would you consider a successful season on.

Speaker 8 (34:03):
A like a rookie season for Bonix, I think let's
just start with the with baby steps and let's just
have some type of competitive competitiveness in our own division.

Speaker 7 (34:15):
I think that our own division is a very, very
tough one. We know that the Ast West is not
to be messed around with. Now we've got the Chargers
with a new head coach, they're going to get their
stuff figured out. The Raiders, who have never really been
a team that the Broncos should fear, have owned the
Broncos over the last few years. So let's just start
with that in general, like, let's just be competitive against

(34:37):
our own I don't expect this team to, you know,
go on and win every single game. I just let's
get over over fifty, for sure.

Speaker 2 (34:48):
But I think, yeah, low expectations, so you don't get disappointed.

Speaker 3 (34:52):
I think you learned.

Speaker 2 (34:54):
You learned from the Russell Wilson situation. You had high expectations,
everyone got let down. Now low expectations and if you
do well, you know you're excited about it.

Speaker 4 (35:02):
Ourselves partly disappointing.

Speaker 3 (35:03):
Yeah, before we let that go, congratulations on your new show.
With all due respect.

Speaker 2 (35:08):
You tell us where people can find it, what we
can expect, and just like all the apps so we
can follow you.

Speaker 1 (35:14):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (35:15):
So working now with Faller Alert, it'll be on the YouTube.
I'm on all things social at lib Moods, just posting
kind of whatever I feel like posting, whether it's funny,
whether it's a hot take. I definitely know how to
ruffle feathers. That is something I need to add to
my resume.

Speaker 4 (35:31):
I love it.

Speaker 7 (35:32):
I've gotten very good at it. But I think that
at the end of the day, that's what sports is
all about. It's supposed to be fun. They're supposed to
be trast talk, it's supposed to be entertaining, and so
I hope to bring that through my content, sprinkling some
education about sports betting and the Broncos and the Nuggets
and all things sports, but also just having a good time.
Because again, hey, I'll tell you what really worked for

(35:53):
me in Denver is I usually had either a really
bad team or a really good team, and that makes
a really great content because nobody really cares about the
teams that just fall in the middle. So I have
been blessed to be in a city where I either
have hot mess Express or champions and so makes my
life really fun and content super easy to crank out.

(36:13):
So yeah, at liv mooves on all things social and
we'll keep hopefully entertaining people with either dumpster fires or championships.

Speaker 3 (36:21):
I love that live. Congratulations on the new show.

Speaker 2 (36:24):
Thank you so much for joining us, and we can't
wait to see you again soon.

Speaker 7 (36:28):
Yes, thank you for having me.

Speaker 3 (36:29):
We'll see you all right.

Speaker 2 (36:31):

Welcome back to Fox Sports Saturday of Alex Curry Here
with Carmen Vitali. We are broadcasting live from Tirek dot
Com Studios in Los Angeles. Thank you for spending your
Saturday afternoon with carme and me. But guys, it is
time for the dues and the don'ts in sports highlight.

Speaker 1 (37:05):
I love that putting a spotlight on the don't.

Speaker 3 (37:08):
The subject brings me no joy? Are you on crack?

Speaker 1 (37:12):
It's time for the dues and the don'ts in sports?

Speaker 3 (37:16):
All right?

Speaker 2 (37:17):
I'm going to get started with a don't okay, which
I don't think I've ever started with the god don't
miss a beat. So apparently there's an O Tawny Epay
gambling scandal TV series already ready in the works, you guys.
Lionsgate announced that they are in the early stages of

(37:37):
this gambling scandal TV series, and this was announced earlier
this week, right after Epay officially pleaded guilty, looking at
possibly thirty up to thirty three years in jail, has
to pay Otani back the sixteen million dollars. And you
know I'm not gonna lie. I still had some doubts.
I'm not saying like I I think he was involved

(38:00):
or anything, but like when you're thinking about a fall guy,
a fall guy's.

Speaker 3 (38:04):
Not going to jail for thirty plus years. You guys know,
like that's not like that.

Speaker 2 (38:08):
If you need one thing to hold on to, if
there was any doubt in your mind, that's it right there.
Like I think it's going to be like maybe kind
of like that okay style where it's like in real time, like.

Speaker 4 (38:20):
It's any more too these streaming networks want to like
drag things out, Like the roast of Tom Brady is
a perfect example where that was live.

Speaker 3 (38:26):
Yeah, they like.

Speaker 4 (38:26):
Made an appointment viewing. We're just we're just reverse engineering
cable by the way, and like we're back, we're bag
but like also kind of made it worse. But whatever,
that's insane that they already did that. And I'm with
you too.

Speaker 3 (38:37):
I was.

Speaker 4 (38:37):
I was very skeptical, especially in the beginning, but then
when the court documents started coming out, and I realized,
like this wasn't something that they were They weren't targeting
Otani or eBay. This is just like a byproduct of
another investigation. Yeah, all right, Well I have ad do okay,
and I said, do support your employees.

Speaker 3 (38:53):
Okay.

Speaker 4 (38:53):
The Panthers and the Bruins combined for one hundred and
forty eight penalty minutes and one hundred and forty six
hits in Florida's Game two win in this series, these
two teams hate each other.

Speaker 3 (39:05):
I love that so much.

Speaker 4 (39:06):
And then their coaches, their respective head coaches came out
and we're both like, you know what, I freaking love it,
and I'm like, this is phenomenal. I mean, this is
what hockey is.

Speaker 3 (39:16):
Hockey.

Speaker 4 (39:17):
So's you so gritty and you're encouraged to take that
to the ice. Is the reason that these guys are
in there. They have a positions that are literally an enforcer.

Speaker 2 (39:26):
But this but in this game, why you do Everybody
like what your injury is?

Speaker 3 (39:30):
You say, upper body, lower body? Playing hockey for a while.

Speaker 4 (39:33):
I've been a huge ocupan in my high life. It's
I it warms my heart. One hundred and forty eight
penalty minutes.

Speaker 1 (39:40):
So incredible.

Speaker 3 (39:40):
It was incredible, So incredible.

Speaker 2 (39:42):
Okay, I have a dude, do change your alarm to
something that makes you happy, and you're gonna like.

Speaker 4 (39:47):
This, Okay.

Speaker 2 (39:48):
Cubs picture showed to Imanaga, who was off to an
insane start to the season from Japan, said he changed
his alarm to the sound of Wrigley Field fans, so
he wakes up faster and happier.

Speaker 3 (40:00):
This is everything. This guy is so pure. When he
was in New York, he said he knew where.

Speaker 2 (40:04):
He was from the Spider Man movies, looking out of
his window like he might be the best off season
free agent pitching signing because there was so much hype
around the Dodgers getting Yamamoto. Yamamoto got like the biggest
pitching contract in MLB history. And then showde Minaga has
just come in and just absolutely destroyed the scene and

(40:26):
having the best time, like no learning curve, just incredible.

Speaker 4 (40:29):
It should be Go Cubs, go real quick. Don't cut
your mom any slack. Terry on Arnold the rookie at
Lion's Rookie Meeting camp, he said, if my mom was
a receiver, I jam her into the dirt and she
knows that.

Speaker 3 (40:39):
It wasn't a Fox Sports Radio I love you, I
love it.

Speaker 2 (40:44):
Welcome to our two Fox Sports Saturday am Alex Curry
alongside Carmen Vitali. We are broadcasting live from twer dot
com Studios in Los Angeles. Thank you for spending your
Saturday afternoon with Carme and me. Dude, I finally got
to check out the Rams draft house yesterday.

Speaker 3 (41:00):
Yeah, I saw that you were there for a shoot right, yeah,
a sponsored event.

Speaker 2 (41:04):
They had you know, some cheerleaders, a player, but it
was like, come come check it out. Apparently the Rams
have it for a month, the house for the whole month,
and they just keep having events here.

Speaker 3 (41:15):
I think I mentioned this. This is like the like
the party house in her most.

Speaker 4 (41:18):
Event No, I'm like, now, I'm like, okay, is this
on my like South Bay bucket list is to get
an invite to this house, to have a party at
this house, I should say post.

Speaker 3 (41:27):
I think they probably have it for another week or two.

Speaker 4 (41:30):
Okay, maybe in a few weeks.

Speaker 3 (41:32):
I can I can help make that happen.

Speaker 4 (41:35):
I love a plug, the plug.

Speaker 3 (41:38):
I got a girl.

Speaker 2 (41:38):
I'm like, I feel like I'm the most like non
Italian Italian person I called you.

Speaker 3 (41:43):
I'm like, I got a guy. I got this.

Speaker 4 (41:45):
I called you an honorary Italian because literally every single
time I need something, You're like, oh, I got a
guy for that, And I was like, oh my god, Alex,
you're Italian just like me.

Speaker 2 (41:52):
I love it, cars, hookups, jewelry, clothes, like anything you need.
I got tire practic is literally anything yeah, I'm proud
of that. I'm really I mean, I'm well connected. I
do call myself the ultimate connector.

Speaker 3 (42:07):
So you are you are? It feels it feels right.

Speaker 2 (42:10):
All right, guys, we are broadcasting live from the tireg
dot com studios.

Speaker 3 (42:13):
We'll help you get there.

Speaker 2 (42:13):
I'm much lushian fast, free shipping, free road hazard protection,
and over ten thousand recommended installers tirec dot com the
way tire buying should be.

Speaker 3 (42:20):
We have a great hour two in store for you, guys.

Speaker 2 (42:24):
We have Cincinnati reporter Kelsey Conway to break down this
Bengals team right now, joining us in about thirty minutes.
But let's start hour two talking about some quarterbacks we've
got on the mend that are coming back because last season, yeah,
refresh your memory. Here was the season and the year
of the backup quarterbacks. There were sixty six quarterbacks that

(42:46):
started a game last year, insane. So that means we
have some big names that are coming back ready to
start the season.

Speaker 4 (42:55):
So we're doing a little The race for comeback Player
of the Year is going to huge.

Speaker 3 (42:59):
I didn't even think about that. Oh yeah, I didn't
even think about that.

Speaker 2 (43:04):
Okay, so we're gonna do a little check in because
some teams have started their offseason workouts and we're finally
hearing from some guys. Now it's not like nothing's like
fully mandatory for the veterans yet, However, most have decided
to show up get to know the new guys, and
we're finally getting some updates. So welcome to the quarterback
injury report and how they're handling it.

Speaker 3 (43:26):
And let's get started with Joe Burrow.

Speaker 2 (43:29):
Now, let me refresh your memory once again, because he
got paid last season. At the time, it was the
biggest contract in history quarterback history as far as money
per year, still the biggest. But he was not one
hundred percent in preseason right he was dealing with a
calf injury. Then in November he tore a ligament in
his wrist. But what we love about Burrow is after

(43:52):
he got injured, he was still there down on the
sidelines with a headset on still being as involved as
as he could with the team. Even now he's there
with the team, he's doing the off season workouts, and
he's been Yeah, he's been open and transparent about his recovery,
and he spoke earlier giving us a little update this week.

Speaker 9 (44:14):
It has definitely been one of the most challenging parts
of my life for the last several months. But we're
getting through it and continuing to improve, you know, mentally
and physically every day. So it's definitely a challenge and
a process. I'm going to be smart about it. You know,
if I need a break, I need to break the risk.
Maybe he's going to hurt sometimes, and I'm going to
be honest and with myself about how my body's feeling,

(44:38):
maybe a little more cautious than I have been in
years past.

Speaker 3 (44:41):
I mean, that might be one one of the tougher
injuries for a quarterback.

Speaker 4 (44:46):
Quarterback and you're in your throwing risk. That's the thing is.
Aj Hawk actually talked about this on the Pat Macabe
Show because we had the same injury injury, and he
said they had to take attention from his left wrist
to put in his right, which is insane. And when
you think about a quarterback and the way that they
need to put a spin on the ball, the way
they maneuver the ball, all in the wrist, there is
some concern. I think in Cincinnati. We'll talk to Kelsey

(45:08):
about this a little bit later. We will about how
close to one hundred percent he's actually going to be.
But I like that he's being smart. I like that
he's being transparent. I like that he's still around the team.
That's the biggest thing for me.

Speaker 3 (45:20):
That's the number one thing.

Speaker 4 (45:21):
Is you talk about like rookie wide receivers like Jermaine Burton,
who the team took this year. I mean he was
already talking at rookie Mintiamp about how much his conversations
with Joe Burrow up until this point have meant to him. Yeah,
and that is a leader. That is the quarterback you
want on the team. That is why you made him
the highest paid quarterback. It's not just for his talent.
It's not just for what he can contribute on to

(45:42):
the field. Although we really need to stop talking about
Joe Burrow like he isn't something incredibly special, because he
is when he's on the field.

Speaker 1 (45:49):
He is.

Speaker 2 (45:50):
But he has had a few big injuries already in
his NFL career. He tours ACL's rookie season. Obviously the
calf struggles wasn't like a big thing, but then the
torn ligament in his wrist, and if Burrow has any
more major injuries, especially this season. Is it time to
start thinking about having some sort of serious insurance policy

(46:11):
to start developing another quarterback behind them.

Speaker 4 (46:14):
That's that's absolutely a question the Bengals are asking themselves.
But like also, let's not get to ahead of ourselves either.
There have been plenty of quarterbacks that have come back
from early, early career injuries. I can think of Drew
Brees as we were talking about earlier, came back and
had a wonderful career. Joe Montana did the same thing
and went on to multiple Super Bowls after that. So
I don't want to panic just yet, especially when I

(46:37):
mean you think about his earlier injuries were almost a
direct result of the fact that he had no protection,
no offensive line around him. Yes, Bengals have now the
most sacked quarterback right year set sack records because and again,
quarterbacks are gonna happen, the dirty little secrets that quarterbacks
are not blameless in sacks. But in this case it
was very different. The Bengals have spent the couple of

(46:58):
years since heavily investing in the offensive line. You've got
two six to eight tackles on the other on each
side of this line. Now lots of protection and you
have depth, which is the big key along along the
Cincinnati front. So I'm excited to see what it looks
like this year for the Bengals because again, they have
a really good team. They've got a really underrated defense.

(47:18):
They've got some really good pieces. You're gonna have to
pay Jamar Chase very soon.

Speaker 1 (47:22):
Ye.

Speaker 4 (47:22):
But I need to see Joey just get back out there. Yeah,
and I want I want that for him. I want
that for the Bengals because he is something so incredibly
special when he is healthy. And again we can stop
talking about is he injury prone? Do the Bengals need
a contingency plan? YadA, YadA, YadA. If he plays this
whole full season, I'm on board.

Speaker 2 (47:43):
Yeah, But as you said, he's still he's feeling it.
It's gonna hurt. It's his wrists, so you gotta you
have to be so careful, so careful that. Okay, let's
move on to Aaron Rodgers and the Jets. This had
to be, again one of the craziest opening games we've
ever seen.

Speaker 3 (47:58):
Fourteen steps running out with the American flag in New
York on nine to eleven. So much hype around Rogers
in this new beginning another four plays in.

Speaker 4 (48:08):
There's irony. There's irony there being that he's a nine
to eleven conspiracy theorist.

Speaker 3 (48:13):
But anyway, oh I didn't know that.

Speaker 4 (48:15):
Oh yeah, oh yeah, Aaron Rodgers has questioned the validity
of nine to eleven and then ran out with the
American flag. Also for a team that is owned by
a massive pharmaceutical company.

Speaker 2 (48:27):
But this is okay, So another Rogers made sure to
stay in the spotlight all of last season for all
the wrong reasons, all the reasons, all the wrong reasons right,
and there was talking you might come back also at
the end of the season, which was pure crazy for
a forty year old recovering from one of the craziest
injuries you can have felt like he was kind of
stringing the Jets on with his return and never fully

(48:47):
they never fully recovered. They should have gone out and
got a veteran quarterback.

Speaker 4 (48:51):
I can't believe they didn't sign Joe Flacco because you
see what the Browns said, and like if the Jets
had Joe Blacker, they would they would have probably been
a playoff team with Joe Flacco.

Speaker 3 (49:01):
The Browns were. We'll get to that in a second.

Speaker 2 (49:04):
But I he is back, he's there doing off season workouts.

Speaker 3 (49:09):
He's got two more years on his contract.

Speaker 2 (49:11):
But I personally have very low expectations for Rogers and
the Jets.

Speaker 4 (49:18):
He's been actually kind of quiet for a while.

Speaker 2 (49:20):
Although he did so Pat McAfee, he got kicked off
Pat McAfee, I feel like, so that was his that
was his week.

Speaker 4 (49:26):
I talked to a guy. I see a couple of
guys over there by the way. He didn't get kicked off.
And I'm not the one to come to the defense
of Aaron Rodgers. I'm really not. But he he was
never contracted to beyond during the off season. Yeah, is
apparently is what I was told by past people. So
I was like, okay, fine, spin it whatever.

Speaker 7 (49:40):
I know.

Speaker 4 (49:41):
Like I said, I'm not the one. I'm not the one.
But that was his spot where he did you see him?
He was at the Kentucky Derby, which is a thing
that he does. But did you also notice that none
of his Jets teammates were with him. It was all
like former Packers, like DeVante Adams was there, David Bacciari,
Dove Bactiyar's brother, like they're all good friends.

Speaker 3 (49:57):
With Aaron with them, yet he didn't spend the season
with them.

Speaker 4 (50:01):
I like, but that should tell you a lot because
you're still currently playing and I get it. It's kind
of the same thing about when I was with Tampa
and we had Tom Brady. I don't think any Tampa fan.
I think Tampa fans, to their credit, were very well aware,
self aware of like, we're renting Tom Brady. Tom Brady
doesn't belong to us, but he's renting.

Speaker 3 (50:18):
He is bringing you eight But yeah.

Speaker 4 (50:19):
We're gonna we're gonna rent him for a couple of years. Welcome,
and he's gonna bring us a championship. And he did,
which was great. But they're under no illusions that Tom
Brady belongs to the Buccaneers much in the way that
I don't think Jets fans should be disillusioned into the
fact that Aaron Rodgers belongs to you. But Tom didn't
do stuff like this when he was currently playing for
the Bucks with another teammate, like in fact, he would
bring other teammates that he was currently playing with.

Speaker 2 (50:41):
He brought with US teammates, so it's still about to
the Bucks.

Speaker 3 (50:44):
So he broke gronk with them.

Speaker 4 (50:45):
So yeah, he did that too, but that matter. He
brought his friends along too.

Speaker 3 (50:49):
He did.

Speaker 4 (50:49):
But when Tom was at the Bucks, he would tell like,
you saw him hanging out with Mike Evans, you saw
him hanging like whatever, You didn't. He would bring those
guys along. And whereas like Aaron is just kind of
I'm impressed that he is at OTAs though, because that's
something he was doing with the Packers.

Speaker 3 (51:02):
And again he's got, he's gotta.

Speaker 4 (51:04):
I don't have any expectations for Aaron Rodgers this year.
I really don't.

Speaker 2 (51:07):
Okay, let's move on to another Achilles injury, Kirk Cousins,
but boy, there's some unexpected drama here. He decided to
make the move to Atlanta. They paid him a huge
contract one hundred and eighty.

Speaker 3 (51:20):
Million, hundred million, which is guaranteed over four.

Speaker 2 (51:22):
Years, one hundred guaranteed at and it recently came out
that he decided to go to Atlanta because the Vikings
were planning to draft a quarterback and well, well, well
the grass isn't always greener. Falcons, with the eighth overall pick,
selected Michael Pennix Junior, the quarterback from Washington, and this
shocked everybody, the fans Kirk the football world.

Speaker 3 (51:45):
Now, I know we can. I know we're not.

Speaker 4 (51:47):
We went back.

Speaker 2 (51:49):
Over it, but what's done is done, okay, And I
like to look on the bright side of life. So
hopefully this will be a great learning and growing experience
for Pennix.

Speaker 3 (51:59):
But boy does a suck for Kirk Cousins.

Speaker 2 (52:01):
And I'm just gonna say that he's also coming off
the biggest injury of his career. He will be thirty
six when the season starts. Both Kirk and Pennick seem
like good humans. They're both already with their new team
at the off season workouts. But this situation, it's not
like the same one in Pittsburgh, as I mentioned off
the top of the show, But it's another quarterback situation that,

(52:22):
like you're gonna want to watch it, tune in because
it's a reality TV drama.

Speaker 4 (52:27):
It concerns me because so Kirk Cousins is already fully
participating in Phase two of the Falcons off season program, which, yeah,
Phase two is where the coaches can actually go through
walkthroughs with you. Phase one coaches are not allowed on
the field with you. You can work out with the
training staff, you can work out on your own with
your fellow players. You cannot be under the guide of coaches.
Phase two coaches are on the field. He's already fully

(52:48):
participating in that. And I'm not saying that, like, obviously
he's under the care of the best doctors in the
world and they're telling him what he can and can't do.
And this is all like walk through stuff anyway, So
it's nothing like that's too too strenuous. But now that
he knows that there's this fresh faced rookie breathing down,
is he really going to be as patient with himself

(53:09):
as he needs to be a thirty six roll coming
off with an coming off and achilles.

Speaker 3 (53:12):
He's training his backup, he's training his replacement.

Speaker 4 (53:14):
He's training, which is not uncommon in the NFL, but
it is uncommon to where you are. Also, you don't
have a rapport with the team yet, Like that's where
this situation and I hate, I hate.

Speaker 2 (53:24):
In comparison to this team because I hate were under
the impression they were not going to do this.

Speaker 4 (53:29):
I hate the comparison between what Kirk Cousins is dealing
with and what Aaron Rodgers dealt with in Green Bay.
Aaron Rodgers was fully entrenched for years, a decade and
a half, over a decade and a half with the
Green Bay Packers before they brought in Jordan Love. And
it was not like they knew that they wanted Jordan
Love to sit too. So Rogers job was not in
any imminent danger. No one had seen anything from Love,

(53:51):
no one had any expectations of Love. No one thought
that he was going to come in if Aaron Rodgers
struggled that first season, like Rogers was not looking over
his shoulder. Kirk Cousins does not have this locker room yet.
Now you have two new quarterbacks that are vying for
You're like the like it's not good for the culture.
That's why I had such an issue with this. I'm like,

(54:12):
Kirk is not established here. So now if Penix goes
out and he lights training camp on fire, all these
guys are going to be like, well, why are we
wasting our time with a thirty six year old quarterback
who has never really had postseason success coming off of
an achilles injury when we could be building with this
young guy who clearly has his you know what together?

(54:33):
I hate it. I hope Cousins still takes the time
that he needs should get better drama. But it's going
to be very interesting this season. And I really hope
that and the Falcons aren't trigger happy and that Kirk
is solidified in this job because it's going to be
you have I said it set it on speak yeah
a week ago in regards to the Pittsburgh Steelers, but

(54:54):
it remains true no matter where you are, if you
have two quarterbacks, you have none. And that is what
I'm afraid of. For Atlanta. We'll say all right.

Speaker 3 (55:02):
Now, Last, and definitely least.

Speaker 2 (55:04):
Definitely least Deshaun Watson, who has been mia from off
season workouts.

Speaker 3 (55:09):
I'm not surprised at all.

Speaker 2 (55:10):
Let me be honest here and say, I don't like
giving this man any extra time and attention on my show,
but he is giving us a good lesson on what
not to do when you're coming back from an injury.

Speaker 4 (55:21):
Trying to come back from an injury. I did not
appreciate kind of the lack of daisical way that he
is talking about his rehab. He said it could be
sooner rather than later. It could be later rather than sooner.
For me, I just take it one day at a
time because I don't really know the strategy behind it.
I just know that the plan is going to work out,
so I just follow it. I like you compare and
contrast what Deshawn's comments are worth like Joe Burrow, Yeah,

(55:45):
it's I feel so much better about what Joe Burrow
is doing right now. And not to mention, we talked
about it. Joe Burrow is at OTAs. He's helping the receease.
He's doing everything that your quarterback, your leader needs to do.
Deshaun is on his podcast his with his quarterbacks coach,
he is, you know, training away from the facility in
La or rehaving away from the facility, and I he

(56:07):
doesn't seem to have any sort of motivation. Why would
you when you were guaranteed two hundred and thirty six
million dollars no matter.

Speaker 2 (56:14):
What, you five year, two hundred and thirty million dollars
guaranteed contract. He still has three years left. It's still
the most guaranteed money. And he's only played twelve games
over two seasons, game six games each season due to
the suspension and injury.

Speaker 4 (56:29):
They're not good games.

Speaker 2 (56:29):
That's a lot of money to go eight and four
over two years. And the Browns got to the playoff
and turned their season around last year, but not Sean Watson.

Speaker 3 (56:39):
I don't even Flacco off the couch the comeback player
of the year.

Speaker 4 (56:42):
I don't even like associating that eight and four record
with Shaun Watson because to me, wins or not a
quarterback stat I am vehemently against that because, especially when
you are in Cleveland with a defense that ranks near
the top or at the top of the league. The
reason that the Browns made the postseason this year was
because of the defense. Yeah, so I don't want to
give any of the quarterbacks credit there. Again, keep the

(57:03):
same energy if you're not going to say that they're
they were good because of Joe Flacco, but they just
like Joe Flackers, just came in and managed the game,
which was true and all they needed.

Speaker 2 (57:10):
But also like brought that like dad energy that everyone
oh yeah, oh no, I'm a big flag sleeping on
the best right.

Speaker 3 (57:15):
No, uh beautiful.

Speaker 4 (57:17):
But what I cannot wrap my head around is again,
how much you gave up in the trade for Deshaun Watson.
Worse on top of guaranteeing him two hundred thirty six
million dollars when he had been out of football already
for so long.

Speaker 3 (57:31):
And in a scandal, and involved a gnarly disgusting scandal.

Speaker 4 (57:36):
It's it's unfathomable to me this has to go down.
And the thing is to me too, I don't hear
enough of people saying the Browns need to make the
super Bowl in order for this to be quote unquote
worth it.

Speaker 3 (57:47):
This is the worst.

Speaker 4 (57:48):
Because and I don't like saying that it's worth it either,
because I don't like all of this up on the field,
and I cannot separate the two.

Speaker 3 (57:54):
I'm sorry, no, no, you cannot separate that.

Speaker 4 (57:56):
But everybody's saying, like, oh, if we just you know,
make a run, if we just division I don't. I'm like,
you paid this man two hundred and thirty six million dollars,
no matter what, you are, so much draft capital to
get him to the point where the Houston Texans are
like three years ahead of where they would have been
rebuilding wise.

Speaker 3 (58:15):
Uh huh.

Speaker 4 (58:16):
And now you're gonna tell me that if you just
win the division, that's enough for you.

Speaker 3 (58:21):
Nope.

Speaker 2 (58:21):
I don't have good feelings about him coming back or
him in general.

Speaker 3 (58:26):
We're gonna he's a good quarterback anymore. He's not.

Speaker 2 (58:29):
He's done and we're done with him. We're gonna take
a quick break here, but when we come back, the
coaching hot seat is already on fire in the NBA.

Speaker 3 (58:36):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (59:13):
Alex Underscore Curry at carmed All right, let's talk some
NBA guys, because the coach's hot seat has already begun.
The Lakers fired Darvin Ham Lakers and I had four
coaches in the last ten years. Vogel got them to
a championship, and it's a bubble championship, but I'm still
going to consider this a championship.

Speaker 4 (59:35):
As someone who is part of a bubble championship team.

Speaker 3 (59:38):
Think see yeah and the other two teams. It was
La teams because Dodgers won, Lakers.

Speaker 4 (59:44):
One, Buccaneers one, twenty twenty super Bowl well twenty twenty one.

Speaker 2 (59:49):
But you know, crazy though, like Lakers having four coaches
and ten years still not the most because the Sun's
also fired their head coach.

Speaker 3 (59:55):
They've now had six coaches in ten years.

Speaker 2 (59:58):
But let's talk about the Lakers for a moment, because
because they've now lost to the Nuggets and back to
back seasons in the playoffs, got them in the Western
Conference Final in twenty twenty three, swept by Denver twenty
twenty four. Now they won the in season tournament, which
I think is when the Lakers might have peaked a
little bit towards the end of the season before the playoffs,

(01:00:19):
and then they lost it Verre in the first round
in five games. The craziest part about all of this
is that the Lakers had double digit leads in every
game except Game five, and they still had a nine
point lead. It was just Darvinham did not know how
to manage the third quarter at all.

Speaker 3 (01:00:37):
But end of the day, let's look at the big
picture here, right, because.

Speaker 2 (01:00:42):
I kind of this is kind of feels like Lebron's
doing a little bit. He carries that clout that he
can kind of do whatever he wants. He's in a
contract year, so I'm sure they're gonna do whatever he
wants to try to keep them. So the question is
how long they have Lebron in LA because Lebron has

(01:01:03):
a player option next season, that meaning if he opts out,
he would be a free agent after next season. If
he opts in, and he can resign a deal up
to three years, maybe like one sixty two mil. Like
I I'm a little biased here being from LA, but
I think it makes the most sense. I think it
makes for Lebron to stay here in LA. A d
finally stepped up this year to show like what he

(01:01:25):
can do to like be that number one, number two guy.
Because again, it's always going to be Lebron number one
eighty number two when he's on the court, when he
can stay healthy.

Speaker 3 (01:01:35):
But Lakers are still in a place where you know,
the players want to be they can go out and
get another big name. They're gonna have to. They're gonna
have to go out and get another big name.

Speaker 4 (01:01:42):
They're also gonna have to go out and get Bronnie.
I think, I I just I have I still don't.

Speaker 3 (01:01:48):
I know.

Speaker 2 (01:01:48):
Lebron said like, I want to play until I can
play with Bronni.

Speaker 3 (01:01:52):
He did declare for the draft.

Speaker 4 (01:01:55):
I just what at this point though, Like, what else
is lebron Ja hanging on for as exactly? So I'm like,
that has to happen to me, that has to happen.
It has to be So it's whatever team is going
to take Brownie, whether that's drafting, whether that's signing. I
think that there is an argument to be had on
whether you should draft him and if how much that matters, to.

Speaker 3 (01:02:17):
Say him worth to make Lebron James happy, right.

Speaker 4 (01:02:20):
Is to forfeit a draft pick essentially for someone that
you probably wouldn't draft otherwise.

Speaker 3 (01:02:25):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:02:26):
I do think it's very interesting though, and I don't
know how much of a role maybe Lebron played in this,
but I think the Lakers fell victim to the fact
that the expectations were set so high that first year
of Darbenham, like in twenty twenty three, and I think
that everybody had these expectations of the Lakers, especially going
into this season where maybe they thought the Lakers were

(01:02:47):
better than they were and you're fighting against your like,
whatever you do as a coach, regardless of where you are,
whatever you do that first year, you're held to that standard.
Then every single year after that and you're expected to
not only hold that status quo, but you're supposed to
get better. And so when the Lakers didn't do that. Now,

(01:03:08):
I also think that Darbenham made some interesting lineup changes.
He had some not managed the third court everything that
you said there, like there there were some fireable offenses there.
He probably deserved it a little bit more. But I
do think that in both the case of the Lakers
and the Suns for that matter, the first year of

(01:03:28):
these coaches tenure there they just blew expectations out of
the water. But then that became the change two years. Yeah,
I'd be like, it's a I think a lot of
these teams too, especially when you have a sped up
timeline like the Lakers do with Lebron.

Speaker 2 (01:03:42):
Well, I'm saying that's why I think it's it's the stars.
It's the stars making this decision.

Speaker 4 (01:03:47):
Yeah, whether they're going directly to ownership being like I
want this guy out of here, or it's a matter
of ownership saying, well, we're not going to have this
guy for very much longer, so maybe we should, like
we have a sense of urgency. Now. It's a very interesting,
weird dynamic in the NBA because I think it's becoming
a little bit more and more common. But then you
do have like successful coaches that are tenured for a

(01:04:07):
very long time. It's some of these teams too. I
just I think that we could give ourselves a little
bit more stability if we're if we're the Los Angeles Lakers.
But that's an outsider perspective. You're from here, You've been
a Lakers fan your whole life. I'm just kind of like,
I think you should. You like, people deserve a little
bit more patience. But that's me.

Speaker 3 (01:04:23):
That's not LA That's right, you can't do that.

Speaker 4 (01:04:28):
It's not sports in general.

Speaker 3 (01:04:29):
All right, let's check in with Martin Wise and see
what's trending.

Speaker 4 (01:04:35):
Fourth quarter.

Speaker 6 (01:04:36):
About nine fifty three left between Oklahoma City Thunder and
Dallas Ravericks. That series is tied one apiece. We're in
Game three right now, leading all scores.

Speaker 4 (01:04:44):
PJ.

Speaker 6 (01:04:44):
Washington, He's five for ten from three, got twenty seven
points on the night. Kyrie Irving with fourteen for Dallas.
Luka Doncis was sixteen. Tim Hardaway with eight off the bench.
Remember he got hot last game in the third quarter
for the Oklahoma City side of things. Shake Gildess Alexander
has twenty four five points and eight rebounds, Jamal Williams
with eleven, Isaiah Joe with ten points off the bench.

(01:05:05):
We'll see the Boston Telgics in the Cleveland Cavaliers eight
thirty Eastern. Kristaps Worzingas still out for about another week
or so. Cleveland's Jared Allen a game time decision after
hurting his ribs at two NFL playoff games. Today, Game
four Rangers at the Hurricanes, puck drop seven pm Eastern,
New York with a three to zero lead, a commanding
three zero lead, as they say. Game three ten pm Eastern,

(01:05:26):
the Stars in the Avalanche that's tied one game a piece.
Commanders rookie defensive tackle Johnny Newton had to repair a
partial Jones fracture in his foot earlier this year. Now
reports are saying he needs surgery again to repair the
same injury in his other foot. Bearn's first round pick
Roma Denze missing day two of practice with the stream hamstring.
The team says his absence was precautionary. The Buffalo Bills

(01:05:48):
by the Professional Lacrosse Players zed Williams to participate in
their rookie mini camp. He was an All Pro and
MVP in the Pro Lacrosse League in twenty twenty two.
Jarvis Landry, former LSU and Cleveland Brown Star. He's at
j Aaguar's rookie medi camp. Landry again, like I said,
former pro bowler, but I had a down year twenty
twenty two, did not play at all in twenty twenty three.
So we're starting all over and trying to make a team.

(01:06:09):
And the Patriots haven't officially announced Elliott Wolfe as the
executive vice president for player Personnel. He'll have control of
the fifty three man roster and the salary capsule. He
will basically be the general Mallen manager Alex and Carmen.

Speaker 4 (01:06:22):
Back to you guys, Thank.

Speaker 2 (01:06:23):
You, Mark, and you're listening to Fox Sports Saturday I'm
Alex Curry here with Carmen Vitally. We are broadcasting live
from Tier dot com Studios in Los Angeles. Thank you
for spending your Saturday afternoon with Carme and me. But
it is time to bring in our next guest. She's
a reporter for the Cincinnati Inquirer. Let's please welcome Kelsey
Conway Casey.

Speaker 7 (01:06:43):
Hey, guys, how are you.

Speaker 4 (01:06:45):
I'm so good.

Speaker 3 (01:06:45):
It's so good to hear your voice.

Speaker 4 (01:06:47):
I know likewise, No, we didn't get to spend enough
time together at the combat this year, so I'm so
happy that you're here. There's so much to talk about
with the Bengals right now. I know that you're incredibly busy, busy,
so thank.

Speaker 3 (01:06:58):
You for Yeah, let's jump right into it, Kelsey.

Speaker 2 (01:07:02):
Because Joe Burrow is back and he's throwing following that
big risk injury last November. He said, it feels good,
but he's gonna be careful, a little more aware of
it this year. How does he look in practice and
what's the vibe like with the team now that he's back.

Speaker 7 (01:07:19):
Well, he looks a lot bigger. He told us that
he put on a lot more muscle and he's a
lot heavier at this point this season than he was
at this point last year. And I mean, obviously anytime
he's back on the field, there's just like a noticeable
like uptake and energy. And last year when he went

(01:07:42):
down during training camp and it was like watching Jake
Browning and you know, the other Bengalis backups compete like
it just didn't have the same energy on the field.
So he just brings so much of that. But as
far as like how he looks, he said that he's
added to his he's been really trying to focus on
what time he's eating and.

Speaker 3 (01:08:05):
Said, so, yeah, I know I want to share the
I will Well I did.

Speaker 7 (01:08:11):
I did ask if I could talk to his dietician,
and I didn't. I didn't get an answer there. But
the point of it is, I think for him, he
wants to be able to withstand some of the hitch
that he's taking. And obviously you can only control that
so much. But I think for him, the stronger he
can make himself. Maybe maybe he said, I mean I

(01:08:34):
hope that I can withstand them some. But so that's
that's as far as how he looked.

Speaker 4 (01:08:39):
All right, Jack Joey b I love it, Uh, I
need I need to kind of be put at ease
a little bit, because the biggest concern I heard when
he through his press conference was him saying, I'm going
to have to adjust the way I'm throwing, essentially because
he doesn't know how this risk is going to if
it's if it's going to one hundred percent heel Has
anybody kind of elaborated on that. Do we expect him

(01:09:02):
to get to one hundred percent or is he really
going to have to change his throwing motion? Is he
going to be able to get to one hundred percent
because it's so important obviously for a quarterback he's throwing
risk who knew?

Speaker 3 (01:09:13):
Oh yeah.

Speaker 7 (01:09:14):
I think what he was saying by that is he
is expecting to make a full recovery. But a lot
of people were asking him about like how different it
feels throwing right now, And what he was trying to
say is that he's going to have some good days
and some bad names right now. It's you know, like
he said, some days it's going to be sore or tight.
So I think he's working through like what the new

(01:09:36):
normal is for him right now. But he did mention,
which I thought was interesting, that it's similar to his
ACL injury that it takes about a year for him
to feel like fully back healthy, And he did this
in the middle of November, right, so you know, hopefully
he's feeling great and can do, you know, everything he

(01:10:00):
needs to be able to do. But he also said
that he can be really mindful of it and like
if there are days in camp where he can't he's
feeling some tightness, like he learned the hard way last
year with his cap strain. Like if you are tight
and you think there's even a small glimpse of this
being something that could blow up, don't push it. So
I do think like it's not going to be surprising

(01:10:23):
or like alarm bell shouldn't be going off if there's
a couple of days where he doesn't throw in training camp,
or you know, they have to kind of put him
on a pitch count because like he didn't acknowledge and
say that I'm recognizing that it could be a year
for me to be fully feeling like myself again.

Speaker 4 (01:10:40):
But he does know how.

Speaker 7 (01:10:41):
To like push through pain. But I think the biggest
takeaway I had from Miss prescottas the other day is
he learned the hard way last year when on the
second day of training camp practice he was wearing a
like a compression sleeve on his cap and we all
saw it and we're like, that's interesting. And then at
the end and to practice is when he went down
with the cat strain in that rectical training camp and argue, like,

(01:11:05):
the first couple of games honestly can be kept setting
it back. So I think I think he's going to
have to monitor like when he's feeling tightness or soreness,
and so I think you're going to see it be
like maybe how they managed some of the other quarterbacks
that have had like elbow injuries or things like that,
where it's like they really got to manage the amount
of time keep throwing it to make sure that they

(01:11:25):
can get him to the first year of season.

Speaker 4 (01:11:27):
Yeah, it's so hard to have that pressure on him too,
where people are talking about how injury prone he could be.
And now you're.

Speaker 3 (01:11:34):
Also being tad to look for an insurance plan.

Speaker 4 (01:11:36):
But now like you're having to tell yourself, I have
to be patient for the long run because you don't
want to set yourself back. But aside from Joe Burrow,
there are some other crazy storylines in Cincinnati with Trey
Hendrickson with t Higgins. I mean, these are two of
your guys that are very beloved. Trey Hendrickson, I think
is criminally underrated, perhaps the most underrated defensive player in

(01:11:57):
the league right now. And they're both like, Hey, I
want out because I'm not getting paid here. What is happening?
Are they going to pay them? Please tell me they're
going to retain these guys, because that's INCINETI defense. Its
not gonna be the same with that.

Speaker 7 (01:12:08):
Trey Anderson, Well, yes, it has been a very eventful
off season for the Cincinnati because of this. So I'll
start with Trey hendrick said, that was the most surprising
trade request for me, But the more I kind of
dug into it and found out and talking to people.
So last year he wanted an upgrade to his contract.

(01:12:32):
He felt like he you know, he's going to Pro
Bowl the last two years, like he felt like that
the contract at Cincinnati gave him didn't match his production.
And then he they they only agreed to adding one
more year on and they gave him a little I
believe it was a five million dollar pay bump. So

(01:12:55):
then he signed that extension. That's the important Thinger so
he signed it.

Speaker 4 (01:12:59):
I get it, like for a guy that it's seventeen
and a half sex last year.

Speaker 7 (01:13:03):
Well right, but like the Bengals weren't going to know that.
And he did have the opportunity to like bet on himself,
like if he if he wasn't happy with the number,
you know, he didn't have to sign.

Speaker 3 (01:13:12):
It, but he did.

Speaker 7 (01:13:13):
So the team felt like that was their way of
you know, you know, throwing a bone to him, being like,
you know, we we want to you know, figure this
out and give you something. Well, I guess he didn't
feel like this pass off season. When his representation met
with the Bengals and asked again for a change, the
Bengals didn't give it to him. And so that's the

(01:13:35):
that's the crux of his trade request because he feels
like he should be paid more closer to the highest
paid ed rushers in the NFL. H So that's where
that's coming from. I got the impression that, you know,
it was something that was you know, very upsetting to him,
and he took it almost as like personal like they
don't value what I what I bring, sure, but you know,

(01:13:59):
you know, how these things go. Would he sit out
a year you just like, it's hard to imagine that,
but that's the that's the whole point of his trade request.
And then Tee Higgins, this has been an ongoing saga
and and basically they tagged him and they didn't continue

(01:14:19):
trade talks. And basically they're at a point where he's
going to play on the tag, they're going to go
their separate ways next season, and that's that that's where
that's at. I put a story out with the numbers
of you know what the Bengals offered t and he
felt like it was, you know, super low for his production.

(01:14:39):
But he also had a rough year last year, so
he needs to play well. So it's kind of like
a win win for the Bengal.

Speaker 2 (01:14:46):
Now Kelsey is staying on the contract combo. The Bengals
picked up Jamar Chase's fifth year option and he's currently
eligible for an extension. We've seen other top receivers get
their deals this offseason. How close is Cincinnati to lock
in and Chase to like a long term contract.

Speaker 7 (01:15:01):
Well, they hadn't started as of March, and I think
that this is all going back to Justin Jefferson, where
they Jamar is one of the most upfront and honest people.
And I asked him, I said, this is Justin Jefferson
need to sign his deal before you need even start.
And he said, yes, stand and that is Jamar like

(01:15:26):
to a t and honestly that he shouldn't like, you know,
Justin Jefferson, who knows what it's going to start with.

Speaker 3 (01:15:34):
So I think it's going to start.

Speaker 7 (01:15:38):
Both sides are are going to, you know, try and
make it work. The Bengals obviously want to keep Jamar
and their plans, but I think the numbers they have
to wait on Justin Jefferson, so they as of right now.
When I have a chance to park Singles executive president
Katie Blackburn, who negotiates all the contracts, she said that

(01:16:00):
they had not started, but she did say he is
in chart.

Speaker 4 (01:16:03):
Yeah, I'm sure he is. But he's smart.

Speaker 3 (01:16:05):
He's smart to wait.

Speaker 2 (01:16:06):
So it's a lot of patience with the Bengals this
offseason with Burrow. Be patient, Jamar, Chase, be patient.

Speaker 3 (01:16:11):
Kelsey. Thank you so much for joining us and for
all that inside.

Speaker 7 (01:16:13):
In front of course, have a good one, guys.

Speaker 3 (01:16:16):
Thank you too.

Speaker 2 (01:16:17):
All Right, guys, we're gonna take one more break. But
when we come back we have our feel good Story
of the week. You're listening to Fox Sports Radio. Welcome
back to Fox Sports Saturday. I'm Alex Curry here with
Carmen Vitally. We are broadcasting live from the Tyre dot
Com Studios in Los Angeles, and you guys, we're gonna
go out on a high note because that's what we
do here on our show, our feel good moment and

(01:16:40):
feel good Story of the Week. And it is though
one and only Caitlin Clark, because her Caitlin Clark effect
is already hitting the w NBA. It was announced this
week that the WNBA will now have charter planes for
each team to travel as early as this season, and
when you think about it, it is kind of insane

(01:17:00):
that they didn't have this before because every other professional
support has a charter plane that takes the team right
after the game to your next destination. And as someone
who traveled with both Angels and Kings on the team
charter during the season, it is extremely helpful in terms
of time management your sleep schedule during a crazy season

(01:17:23):
to maximize the time you are in places like also
thinking about especially basketball players leg room on a normal plane,
I know, like it is absolutely madness to me, So
I like that alone.

Speaker 4 (01:17:37):
Also, like the travel in general is so strenuous and
like you pick up like when you travel, when I
travel commercially, Yeah, it's like you don't know who you're
sitting next to. You don't know if they're sick. You
don't like you hear coughing like I hear babies. I'm like,
oh my gosh, I need to get some sleep because
I have this in the morning.

Speaker 3 (01:17:54):
It is so much better.

Speaker 4 (01:17:56):
And I'm so glad for these athletes because yeah, I
traveled on the Bucks charter. It ruins you travel wise.

Speaker 2 (01:18:02):
Oh it doesn't when you go back and you're like,
I have to go through TSA. You mean I can't
just like roll up to Atlantic with my suitcase and
just walk right onto the plane, right that that doesn't happen, Right.

Speaker 4 (01:18:13):
I don't get ice cream in the air, not waiting.

Speaker 3 (01:18:15):
For me, Like my food isn't waiting for me at
my seat when I get there.

Speaker 2 (01:18:18):
It's it's it's really messed up. But again, you're living
on the road.

Speaker 4 (01:18:22):
But yeah, I mean for the athletes, like we were
absolutely gratuitous, gratuitously took advantage of that. But like for athletes,
it matters, and like having these guys, especially like in
football players and yes, basketball players that are taller than
normal people. Yes, you need to have your leg rooms
so that you can let your legs blood flow. The
blood flow. It matters so much for recovery. Yeah, so

(01:18:42):
this is incredible that they didn't have it already. I'm
so happy that they do now. I'm so happy that
not only yeah, is Caitlin Clark influenced that? Did you
see was it Asia Wilson?

Speaker 3 (01:18:54):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (01:18:54):
Is getting her own shoe too?

Speaker 3 (01:18:55):
Yep, amazing, insane.

Speaker 2 (01:18:57):
Also, Indiana Fever preseason game was a franchise record attendance
of thirteen thousand people in attendance. Yes, most of the
Fevers games will now be nationally televised, thirty six of
their forty regular season games, and the Indiana Fever have
expanded their home TV market to eleven additional markets so

(01:19:18):
people can watch Caitlyn Clark that like and guess what,
you guys, You're like, Oh, maybe it's not like she's
not going to be like the same player in the WNBA.
She's still shooting those crazy threes in the WNBAN. I
saw a social post where a pe teacher shared one
of the boys in her pe class just step back.
He took a deep three and yelled Caitlyn Clark, which,

(01:19:39):
like so cute, just warms my heart. We are in
a new era. As much as much as you want
to say, like, oh, like women's basketball, like college basketball
in general, it is Kaitlyn Clark.

Speaker 3 (01:19:52):
This is the Caitlin Clark effect. She moves the needle.

Speaker 4 (01:19:56):
I hope the momentum continues to the things that I mean.
I think the charter again really matters. I also think
that this needs to influence. Then we were saying that
the network TV contracts, obviously those are going to go up.
THEBAWNBA commissioner is trying to double those, is what she said,
which then will trickle down to the players to get

(01:20:17):
paid more. So that eleven year old and seven year
old boys finding out that Caitlin Clark is only getting
paid seventy five thousand dollars in her first year aren't
completely shocked and just completely disgusted by that, because it's true.
These athletes put their bodies on the line. They deserve
more than that. Hopefully it starts now.

Speaker 3 (01:20:35):
Yes, and we're seeing it.

Speaker 2 (01:20:36):
Thank you so much for spending your Saturday afternoon with us.
We'll see next week, same time, same place, My guys,
