Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio. Good good, good good
good good morning. Everybody happy happy happy uh. Fox Sports Saturday,
it's the Fellas as uh, we come the other live
from the tire iraq dot com studios, Tirac dot com.

(00:22):
We're gonna be get there and on Matt Selection, fast
free shipping, free road ads or protection and over ten
thousand recommended installers tirac dot com the way tire buying
should be as Uh. You heard Monsey tell you, man,
what a what a wild tournament. It's been a crazy,

(00:45):
crazy tournament. Just the we talking about all the time
about how the you know, how the man this is,
you know, not's in the whole thing, but all the
one seeds. Last night, it was funny. I was having
this conversation during the day and both of those games
Alabama against San Diego State in Houston against Miami, both favorites,

(01:07):
both one scenes were sitting at seven and a half
point favorites. And I was having this conversation on my
local show and I go, you know, man, seven and
a half and neither of those games feel good, right,
Like neither of the games. You went, yeah, you know,
I didn't feel good about you know, I was funny

(01:30):
because I liked Miami. I thought of the one seeds,
I didn't think both would lose. I thought Miami had
the best chance because I was like a little skeptical
of Houston. But Alabama, you know, I thought Bama was legit, man.
And it goes back to and this is what you've
seen in this tournament. It goes back to the teams

(01:52):
that have veteran players, right. It goes back to like
San Diego State is a team that is filled with
juniors and seniors right there, They're bringing back all kinds
of kids. And they did not and you saw them.
They were almost unflappable compared to the youth of Alabama.

(02:13):
I mean, obviously Miller had a had a horrible night, right.
I mean, you know, you look at Brandon Miller, and
you know he shoot street for nineteen, one for ten
from three, forcing everything there was. There was one one
possession and that the way that game turned on a
dime was just nuts. But there was one possession late

(02:35):
in the second half where Brandon Miller he forces up three.
I mean, he had he had to take the three,
takes the three. He's short, he knows he's short. Front
rims it and then goes in attacks, gets foul, you know,
gets it, gets a foul um for pushing. Actually pushed
the ball out of bounds, and look you could just
see man, he was like he was forcing it all

(02:58):
night long. But this game was wild because if you
think about it, when Alabama takes the lead so at
one and when Alabama pushes the lead, they got margin.
I'm trying to find because I have the box score,
they were up at one point before that big run

(03:19):
San Diego State goes on. They had pushed the lead
to nine and then it was net. Then they never
looked it was why forty it was forty eight thirty nine?
Pringled there was It was actually nice passed by by
Brandon Miller to Pringle, who jams it. Eleven thirty nine

(03:42):
to go in the game, right, and there's Alabama nine
point lead one scene. And this is what's why we've
been talking about this this old tournament, about how this
you just can't trust these scenes this tournament. It's so
wild that you can't trust anybody like. And so the

(04:04):
one seed in Alabama's got a nine point lead with
eleven thirty nine to go in the game. Now, when
does a one seed ever lose a nine point lead
with eleven and changed to go. Now, congratulates of Casanego State.
I would a great run, right and they and they
did it rather quickly because the travel hit at three

(04:29):
and then they got a transition layup. He scored five
straight points next to you know, it's you know, forty
forty four and that was within like thirty seconds, so
there was a TV time out and then you know,
all of a sudden, travel hits another three, it's one.
And from that moment, you knew that Batma was cooked.

(04:55):
Like at that moment you're watching the game, you knew
that Batman was was just cooked nothing, that it was
going to fall. In San Diego State, they were the
more experienced they were, the more veteran. They were the
team down the stretch that was unflappable. And that's because

(05:16):
you know, you're bringing back to seniors. I mean, that's
why Purdue, as we talked all all, you know, all
last Saturday morning, we knew or before before the tour,
we talked about Purdue being one of those teams that
there was a phony one seed. Look a good team,
but you got a freshman backcourt and when you get

(05:37):
a freshman backcourt, you know what happened. Fau took advantage
of that. Here's a veteran team that's got thirty three wins.
That's why they were no joke, right, I mean that
was amazing. And then until last night and then Houston.
I didn't trust Houston. And Miami's the team that, look,

(05:58):
you know, they're playing, they're hot, they're playing good ball.
They're a team that's gonna play good defense, will turn
you over. And you saw last night they were able
to bury three your right packets, seven of them. Right,
he's out of his mind. They hit eleven as a team,

(06:18):
and you know, they got great looks and they never
really tested the other game. It's shame because Princeton was
a great run. The fifteen seed Princeton Tigers had Creighton
all over Princeton Creighton uh. And it was funny because
that was another game where you know, Princeton kept coming,

(06:42):
kept coming. Right in first half, Princeton's coming at him,
coming at him, and I'm thinking, a wow, this is
gonna be h They're gonna gonna be a sweat. But
Creton got some margin. And then the team that I
really like and I think a team that has every
really good chance to win it is tax and you
know they blow out at Xavier Lands night, So that

(07:04):
sets the stage. We got the Elite eight, and you
heard Monsey say, not a single one seed in the
Elite eight. So today's games, fu, you gotta would love
I love Florida Lands. I love the story. It's a
great story. And the only problem is is that I

(07:25):
love the story of Kansas State. Right. You gotta love
quick Knowles doing and you know here he is five
foot eight and he's had the tournament of a lifetime.
I mean, I guess which can state what he was? Unbelievable.
He breaks the record for dimes, I mean he I mean,

(07:45):
how about how about Noll? He was incredible, he was
so good, nineteen assists, twenty points, I mean, and every
big shot. And you know I love that Marquis Noall.
He's he stole over the floor. He's got a lot
of a lot of flavor through him, a lot of
flare of the game. So you got Kansas State FAU,

(08:08):
which is a lot of fun, kind of the Battle
of the Darlings, and then probably the two best teams
with Texas, right Yukon, who has had a great tournament,
played great basketball against Gonzaga, and Gonzaga off that amazing
win over UCLA. You're down, you know, thirteen and a

(08:30):
halftime and you come storming back. I mean, this is funny.
I remember thinking going into I think I even said it,
you know, to figure or something that Gonzaga that this
was not a vintage Gonzaga team. You know, even though
you got Timmy back and you look at what Gonzaga
has don m tournament. I mean it really ever since

(08:53):
the conference tournament where they route Saint Mary's in the finals,
I mean they look great. Hey, look this is gonna
be a great basketball game. Uh, Yukon Gonzaga today, that's
a fun game. And so you got that one, and
then tomorrow you got San Diego State and Creighton the
five and the six lou goes that who has that

(09:16):
in their bracket, and then Texas Miami the two and
the five in the Midwest region. So there is the tournament.
It's just a wild, fun, fun ride, and we'll get
we'll talk a lot about the tournament. We'll get you know, obviously,
all the stories of March are blast. The NBA is

(09:37):
coming down to uh, you know, we got the stretch
run piece going on there, so we'll kind of set
it up for the playoffs. But today, I really want
to talk about baseball today. I am just enthralled. I
just this is the week before the season opens, right,

(09:57):
the season opens Thursday, and I want to talk about it.
I want to talk and I want to talk about
it with you guys because it's such a it's such
a big week baseball begins, and the World Baseball Classic
was one for the ages, right, it ends Otani Trout
Earlier this week. I was riveted, man, I gotta tell

(10:19):
you I love that World Baseball Classic. I mean, I
know there's a lot of jackals in the media that,
you know, like a little polke faun, and you know,
they got something to say, and I just thought it
was great theater. And it ends Trout Otani three two count,
one run ball game, two outs. I mean, it was

(10:39):
just awesome baseball. And one of the things they have
to do is, I know everybody lives old gaga over
these new rules, but one of the things they're gonna
have to do is they you gotta suspend that clock.
You gotta suspend that clock in the ninth inning. You
can't have the pitch clock going on when you got

(11:02):
Otani trout and the ninth inning and the game hangs
in the balance. I mean, you know, you can't rush moments.
That's the one thing they see. The one thing about
baseball that you know is the beauty that we all
talk about, is the timeless piece of it. And I

(11:22):
get it. It's June, July, August, dog Days is summer
and you're going, you know, why am I sitting here
for three hours and fifty five minutes? All right? I mean,
I get it, But the but the chance to let
the game breathe especially, I think they need to turn
that stinking clock off in the ninth inning. I think

(11:43):
you gotta do it. You gotta allow for the drama.
And I know the playoffs are not doing it, but
I think you gotta do it a ninth inning and
you got to turn it off. You got to allow
the drama to unfold organically, because that's what base Bowl is.
I just found that that. I thought that World Baseball

(12:03):
Classical was one of the greatest things ever. And I
was having a discussion about baseball with a friend of
mine who who he's a national figure and sports media
and he's from New York and uh, we were in
obviously baseball is big in New York and we started

(12:24):
talking about it. But he was like, nah, baseball is
still dead. And I'm curious and today I want to
talk to you guys about this stuff. But I had
a ten year old who is a baseball player, and
he plays travel ball and he loves it. And you know,
I see kids, I'm I'm around them all the time.
Now I'm in the northeast too, in mid Atlantic state,

(12:45):
and you know, I'm looking around and you know, I
see a lot of kids playing baseball. And this is
not you know, the Carolinas are Florida, Texas, California, where
kids are Vegas where you know, where kids are playing baseball,
you know, basically all year long. So is the that
we transitioned from the youth baseball stuff to baseball which

(13:12):
people said, Wow, it's hanging by the balance and you know,
it's it's too old and this and that. And I'm
curious because it feels good. I don't know the sport
feels good. It's about it's about to start, and I'm
curious as to where baseball is kind of in your
heart and where it is you know, when we rank

(13:32):
this stuff. Obviously Football's king and nothing will ever touch football.
We know that. But is base where is baseball at?
Is it close to the NBA? Is it close to baskets?
So I kind of want to dive into that. We're
gonna do a lot of baseball talk, a lot of
baseball chatter because the season begins Thursday, So we'll get
you set for that. Uh my main man e good morning,

(13:57):
A figures off today, Momsyson, I can't wait to talk
to Monsey too. What do you say? How are you, buddy?
What's going on? Because now are you win the baseball?
You've fired up for baseball? What? Yeah, I'm fired up
for the fightings you know how I am so e Ethan,
our producer is a Phillies fan too, So well, I

(14:20):
apologize because it's gonna be in Stareo today. Yeah, you know,
I'm I'm excited. To be honest, I don't know that's
a big baseball basically, Yeah, Monsey's fired up, but I'm
gonna say I'm excited. This is the most excited I've
been for baseball in a long time. Going into the season.
I don't know if it's because the Phillies had a

(14:41):
good season last year in the World Baseball Classic. Everything's
just you know, brow in. But yeah, I'm fired up, excited,
all right, I get into this conversation about it. Yeah, yeah,
the lines are you want me to open the lines
here for you? You want the line? Yeah, we will,
We actually were We will do that. Yeah. Seven seven
ninety nine on Fox. Eight seven seven ninety nine on

the tire rack dot com studios. Good morning, Moncy, how

(15:51):
you been It's been so long? I was trying to
like think when was the last time I worked with
Anthony May I mean ten months? Yeah, I was thinking
the same thing because I thought it was it was
storing baseball because I remember where a great Dodger fan.
You are, Yes, yes, super excited. I'll be there opening day.

(16:14):
Work really quote unquote working No, not really, I mean yes,
totally working, yes, yes, no, working harder. Yeah, yeah, I'll
be there. Yeah, but it's been so long, so I
was super stoked to hang out with the Yeah, you're awesome.
I remember, I think it was I think it was
about ten months ago. And because I remember thinking, and
then when they told me the figure he was off

(16:36):
today that you were in, I was like, oh, good,
because you don't want we're going to talk baseball, yes,
and you are. You are a great baseball You're terrific
baseball fan, a terrific baseball media person. And I remember
I remember talking about it with you before, right, and
how much you love the game, and let's start with

(16:57):
the Baseball Classic because so good, so good, and you know,
watching games and I didn't get to watch every single game.
But then hearing people like complain about it, I was like,
shut up, nobody, you shut up. What are you complaining
about none of this. There is no reason. And I
love what you just said about taking the pitch clock

(17:18):
off for the ninth inning. That is a brilliant idea.
I like that because I'm not gonna lie. I am
over guys fixing their batting gloves every pitch. Guess what,
your batting glove didn't move. You don't even swing the ball,
you didn't even swing back. I hate that, so I'm
glad to eliminate that part of it. But I do
agree with you that there are moments where you need

(17:39):
to let the game breathe. And the perfect example show Heyo,
Donnie against Mike Trout in that game ninth inning, a
close game. Of course, you don't want to rush it.
That's not at all what we would want be the
timeless nature of baseball. Yeah, you let it breathe, and
it just at this moment right where you have an
incredible picture and a credible hitter and the inherent drama

(18:04):
of the ninth inning, I'm right there, like, listen, I
get it's you know, August, and it's a thousand degrees outside,
and you're like, oh, I get this game over with
right right? You fourteen to two right, yeah, right, but
like for every game like that, like you do have
these big moments where you want the support to shine
exactly naturally. If the score was fourteen two, They're not

(18:25):
gonna go slow. They're gonna they're just gonna go quickly.
But in a tight game. Yes, I love that you
said that. I think that's a great idea. No, thanks,
because I just I love that the that draw the
dramatic piece, and you know, and you look at it
how Foxes has honed it over the years where you know,

(18:45):
just those quick kind of cuts to the faces, right,
like you see the faces of the fans, You've see
the faces of the players, of the manager, right, and
you know it all it all kind of in this moment. Yeah.
But you know, I want to ask you because it's
funny you said something that I'm so to me, so

(19:08):
spot on that there's a lot of media people that
complain and I don't get it. Thank you. I you know, listen,
I mean you could you could, and I admit I'll
raise my hand that I'm an optimist. I've always been
more of an internal optimist, right. I look at life
more half full than anything else. But my god, like

(19:31):
if you if you got into sports to cover sports,
you know, put teams in your job aside, but the
game itself. You should you should love the game. I
mean you should, you should, you know, you should want
you should want to be around the game instead of
criticizing and ripping it all the time. Just the incessant

(19:53):
complaining it's too much, too much, and especially over an
event that happens every four years, like reli acts. Guess what,
you don't have to watch it. It's fine, go ahead,
put on something else, but to call it meaningless, to
call it a waste of time, an exhibition game. Oh,
come on, do you not see how excited these guys are?

(20:14):
And you heard them all say throughout the tournament, all
the MLB players trade Turner Nolan at a novel. They
spoke and they were like, I have never experienced a
crowd like this or or like this excitement like this.
Games were sold out. Oh you think people don't care?
Games were sold out? What are you talking about? Yeah?
Now you're you're spot on. And you know what's crazy

(20:36):
about it too, is that you know, how could something
be bad when ninety seven percent of all televisions were
in Japan? Yeah, we're watching something right, like incredible, Like
if you're like, if you like sports, right, you like baseball,

(20:56):
How in the world is that a bad thing? Right?
If the seven percent of old televisions in Japan are
two into the game, you at least say, guess what
it's good for the game? John Smolt said it, I
thought perfectly when he said, you know, baseball is the
winner tonight. Yes, yes, and even I think the Mexico's
coach when they lost, he said, Mexico lost, but baseball one, yes, yes, yes,

(21:21):
well that was I mean, that was that love a
thrilling game not at a time? Wow, that was incredible, Yeah, unbelievable.
And you saw this collection of just amazing players and
you know that, you know, listen, it's it's all for
It's what it works in soccer. I mean, the idea

(21:42):
of the distinction of you know, national pride and you know,
you see what's going on in the the Euros and yeah,
you know, I mean the conquer calf and you know
all that stuff. It's just it's fun. And you know,
when you have countries and it worked everywhere else around
the world, why not baseball, which has a has a

(22:05):
good you know world you know kind of game. You
can't throw it to football now, you know basketball is
you know you do it. But let's face it, the
talent disparities is, you know, so great when it comes
to you know, USA. But baseball actually works as you saw,
yes baseball because you can see it. I think baseball

(22:25):
is a little different because individual talent matters a lot.
As much as you want to say it is a
team that wins, individual talent really really carries a team.
It's the truth it is. You know, I'm completely with you.
I'll tell you what, mar do me a favor, hit
us with some trending, yeah, and we'll continue. How about that.

(22:47):
We're talking about baseball, so let's continue on. They're trying
this new tradition of telling us who is going to
be the opening day pitchers for all thirty teams. So
they actually already told us, and they revealed that we're
gonna have eight cy young winners starting on opening day.
I know Rangers Ace Jacob deGrom is slated to make

(23:09):
his Texas debut against the Phillies, which is exciting. Julio
Urias is going to make his first opening day start
for the Dodgers, so that's also exciting. I like this.
I like this new tradition. I think it's it brings excitement,
Like everybody's like, oh look at this matchup. Oh look
what's gonna happen here. So I like that MLB is
doing this. Well, let's talk a little bit of a
NC double A because, as I said, it was mad,

(23:32):
it was nuts, and you were talking about it. I
felt that Houston was out of the game with seven
minutes left in the game. I was watching it and
I was like, you guys are so deflated and there's
seven minutes left. I know you're down, but it seems
like you think they're seven seconds left and you're about

(23:52):
to walk to the locker room. It was such a
disappointing seven last minutes for Houston. I thought, who was
eliminated by my Ami? Miami's headed back to the Elite
eight back to back Elite eight appearances for the Hurricanes.
San Diego State took down Alabama. Yeah, my bracket is awful,
Yeah like you so, yeah, Yeah, it's so bad. It's

(24:15):
so bad. I had two brackets, and one of them
I had Houston winning and the other one I had
Kansas winning. But I definitely had Alabama going all the
way to the end, So I was not expecting that
Kraton took down Princeton, Texas. The long Horns are headed
back to the Elite eight for the first time in
fifteen years. So that's exciting for them because they eliminated Xavier. Yeah. Yeah,

(24:35):
and we gotta talk about the ladies because I'm a
fan of Caitlyn Clark. She had thirty one points for Iowa.
They beat Colorado, Louisville beat Ole, Miss LSU survived against
Utah because they missed two free throws at the end
and LSU won by three, sixty six to sixty three.
In the Miami also eliminated Villa seventy to sixty five.
So those ladies are headed to the Elite Well, that

(24:57):
was a big loss for us, no one. In fact,
my niece had season tickets Villaneva women. I was talking
her yesterday. She was she was so bummed out. She uh,
she's at she's in law school and she she goes
like she sat, she watched the game. She sat by
herself to watch the game. And you know it was

(25:20):
Villanova made an amazing comeback. Yeah, they were down big
and uh and the next thing, you know, it's a
shame because you mean they kept playing through the whole game.
I Ami down. Goodness, goodness, man, that was I just
couldn't believe what I was watching. I just couldn't believe it.
It's too a little NBA scores. The Lakers without Lebron James,

(25:43):
without D'Angel Russell, he has a sore right hip. They
had no problem. They took down the thunder who were
playing back to back because they just lost to my
Clippers yesterday. One sixteen to one eleven was the final
score to On Friday against the Lakers, Ellie reached five
hundred for the first time this year. It was such
a big deal, Anthony. They had confessed a throne at
Crypto dot com over reaching five hundred. Look at is

(26:06):
this a participation trophy? Is it the same thing? Yeah?
I like it. You're right, You're right, spot on. Kings
meet the Suns win thirty five to one, twenty seven.
And I hate to tell you that you're seventy six
ers lost. Yeah, yeah, they lost, and they were up
by eleven, but the Warriors came back. But MVP Canada

(26:27):
Joel Embid forty six points, nine rebounds, eight assists. He
has the most thirty point games this season with forty three. Yeah,
I don't know how he doesn't win the MVP. I know,
you know, earlier in the season, or like halfway through
the season, I was leaning more towards Nicola Yogicic just
because Denver was so far ahead in the Western Conference.
They were just you know, killing it. Now, I don't

(26:51):
see how MB doesn't win it. I agree with you. Yeah,
you know, it's funny again. I you know, the East
coast West coast thinking is interesting because it's kind of
played out that way over the last couple of years
with there's like this, there's the Indien you know, people
like I would and I would include myself and the

(27:11):
people and you know, you know, it's funny, and there's
you know, the analytics piece is involved. But I've never
seen the MVP so polarized before. Yeah, it's why it's unbelievable,
the MVP tracker. I don't know if it's because you
can bet on it or what the deal is, but
we are we talk about this MVP award, you know,

(27:33):
on an almost daily releast for real. Right. Yeah, Yeah,
that's all I got for you, Anthony. You've got it.
That's good stuff. Thanks Monsey, we appreciate it. We're the
fellas Mudcy is with us in four figgy um because
and we got Ethan our producer and as we kind

(27:55):
of hang out on a fun Saturday morning in the tournent,
the eleane eight is upon us. And one of the
things that we really want to get to today is baseball.
I mean, the season is about to open, so Thursday
you get all your games and where are we at.

(28:17):
It's a perfect time to kind of take an inventory
of America's pastime and where are we at with baseball
because it kicks off Bravesnets one o'clock opening day on Thursday,
and you know, full game, we'll go through the uh,
we're gonna actually go through all the starters and everything else.

(28:40):
Giants and Yankees Orioles and Red Sox from Boston, Milwaukee
at Chicago. Mean, they were all great games Ted Detroit, Rais,
Phillies and Rangers, Twins in Kansas City, Mets in Marlins,
Pirates and Reds Toronto, Saint Louis Rockies and San Diego,
the White Sox and the Astros and the Angels and

(29:03):
the A's Diamondbacks and Dodgers, and of course Cleveland at
Seattle full slate on Thursday, and it's going to be
just a blast man. You know. It's funny they did
away with the soft opening the night before because there
was they were they were doing that for a bit
where they would have the soft opening the night before

(29:25):
this season. Do you remember that, Moncy? No, yeah, like
there might have been even or letcher was the lockout, right, Yes,
I remember, yeah. Before so before that they were doing
like like this year, the season starts on Thursday, so
they would start on a Wednesday night and it would
have one game. Oh, yes, you're right, yes, now, yes,

(29:48):
it's all coming back to me, you know. And I
kind of like Opening Day, like, lets go Opening Day
started early and have an all day celebration of baseball.
And I like the fact that falls on a Thursday. Yeah,
and you know, you got it's a week day and
you can almost celebrate and devote the whole day to baseball.

(30:09):
And then started baseball. Yeah. I like that all teams
are playing like the Dodgers this year for the first
time and as long as I can remember, I don't
remember since I started working with the Dodgers back in
twenty fourteen that an opening day game was at night.
It's a seven o'clock game. Most of the times it
was like a one o'clock, two o'clock, three o'clock game.
People got there at nine am, you know, partying all day. Yeah. Yeah,

(30:30):
not that they're not going to party at nine am.
They're still going to do that. But I'm just saying
the game is in until seven, and I like it.
I feel like it makes it a little bit more grand.
What's your what's the talk with surrounding Otani? Because obviously,
you know, you always hear all the whispers about Otani
and the Dodgers, and that's that. You know, they were

(30:51):
clear payroll U. Right. I think anyone who's a Dodger fan,
anyone who's a Mets fan, and anyone who's a Yankees fan,
thinks he's going to their team. Yeah, you know, I
hot take. I don't think he's leaving the Angels. Well,
if you're the Angels, you can't let him leave, right.
I don't think he's gonna leave. That's what I think.
He's gonna stay an Angel. Yeah, I mean if you're

(31:14):
I mean, listen, you're the Angels and you have modern
day babe, Ruth, you cannot, you can't, you can't. Yes,
you have to keep party Moreno, you give him your
left foot if that's what he wants. Yeah, that off
And what happens with Trout? Can you can you wind
up afford? Can you afford to have them? Both of them?
I do? I don't know, But what how do you

(31:36):
how do you get rid of Trout? Though you can't listen,
I'm like, I love Mike Trout too, No, I love
He's from Like where I'm sitting. We moved to South
Jersey about five six years ago, and where I'm sitting
is like literally twenty minutes from where Mike Trout's from.

(31:57):
So he's from Millville, New Jersey, which is real close
to Philadelphy. He's like a big time Eagles fan. Yeah,
and the whole thing. So everybody loves, you know, Trout.
But the problem is, you know for East Coast people,
you know, he plays on the West Coast and you know,
on a team that's not very good, so you know,
he kind of gets lost a little bit. Yeah, but
they you know, there has always been talk about bringing

(32:21):
him home, and the Phillies lost a big right handed
bat with Reese Hoskins. Yeah, yeah, yeah, it's a shank
round ball. Yeah, and the ACL pops and and he's
done for the season. So there's a lot of talk that,
you know, if the Angels are out of it come
the deadline, you know, do they make up a big

(32:42):
play for him? And you know Hart, but Bryce Harper
is gonna be coming back earlier than expect. It'll be
back in May. And of course everybody can't wait for
Trey Turner. So the Phillies have become a huge player
when it comes to with their owner. John Middleton had
become a huge play in you know, when it comes
to free agents and big ticket players, like like a Trout.

(33:06):
So I know I could never be an owner. I
feel like you have to be loyal. And if if
Mike Trout says, you know what, I want to go home.
I want to go play for the Phillies and I
want to retire the Angels out of respect, I think
should do that. But if he doesn't, you keep him
as even though you have he's young. I felt like,

(33:26):
you know, yeah, even though you have sucked, he has
put you on the map. People still talk about you
even though you suck, like you can't you can't let
him go, you know what I'm saying, unless he wants it,
But like out of respect, I feel like, no, no, no no,
he's all You gotta do what's right for the organization,
like you have to. I mean, you know this, in
that in that spot, you have a true want to

(33:48):
the generation, a generational talent. You got to make sure
that you're doing the right thing for him. It's just
for your team. But it's gonna be interesting to watch
and what happens because you have the biggest names in
baseball and you still struggle. It's it's the wild man,
It's amazing. All right, let's take a quick t o.

(34:10):
We'll come back. Moncy is with us. I'm because we
got the big e as we hang out on a
Fox Sports Saturday right here. All right, welcome bag fellas
from the tire rack dot Com Studios. My man Figgy

(34:36):
is off, but Mancy is in. We love Monsey and
uh you are fantastic. We got e our producer and
of course Mark doing our sound engineer. Terrific, My man Mark,
uh As we get to hang out, so, uh monster,
let me a couple of things. Uh one, I want

(34:57):
to get into this narrative and then we're gonna open
up phone li next hour. But I want to get
into this narrative a little bit about you mentioned and
I felt it was spot on. Well, all the backlash
that the world Baseball class that got from the media,
and this is something like, listen, you know everybody's I've

(35:18):
been I was. I've done everything in the media, right.
I was a writer for a long time for newspapers
that worked in you know, New York, Chicago, Philadelphia. I
you know, covered sports. You've been around, yeah, pretty high
the highest level. And I've done magazine work, I've written books,
I've done television, I do radio. So it's like, you know,

(35:40):
you we've done at all. And here's the thing that
I've seen and and so I this is not like,
oh the media and the media media, because I'm not
like that. But the one thing I don't like is
the constant like bashing of the sport itself. Well, if
you not, you know, I got into uh this business

(36:04):
because I love sports, right like I love baseball, football, basketball,
I played the growing up, all of them. You know,
I like hockey. I you've learned, you know, to love
soccer too. Now I got I enjoy that. And it's like,
you know, I just love sports. I'm sports person, right
like golf and you name it whatever it is, and
I'm right like, and I'm sure you're the same way,

(36:25):
and so you know this is you know, I had
the ability to write, and I married it too. Once
I realized that I couldn't play quarterback for the Eagles,
you know, I was like, all right, well, I want
to be around it and I want to be involved
in it and I love it, and you know, so
I come at it and I still do after all
these years. I come at it from a you know,

(36:45):
I I love the game itself. Now again, there's stuff
that happens in and around. It's a big business, so
of course it's not all you know, it's not all rosy.
But you know, when it comes to the game and stuff,
people kill Baseball they kill and it's just bugs me.
And stuff like the World Baseball Classic, Like what do
you like? Why would you kill that? Why? What's the what? Like?

(37:07):
What's the problem? What's the beef? And what are you
getting out of it? What are you getting out of it?
You think it's to stop because you're complaining about it.
Everything's got to be so freaking negative. That's one of
our problems as a society is that we're too way
too negative. You know what, life could be a lot
worse really looking around the rest of the world right now,

(37:29):
and it was just so intense, Like the hate for
it was so intense. I don't get it. And I
don't get why you hate something that's you got into it.
You know, listen, there's a lot of it. We just
got talking about the ill, the world's ills. There's a
lot of bad stuff going on, and you know, one

(37:49):
of the things that's fun is that we play in
the sandbox, right, Like, this is like the fun part
of life. Right. So if you can't have fun covering
sports and you know, talking about and writing about it
and analyzing it, jeez, you know you got no hope, right.
I totally agree with you. I didn't understand where it
was coming from, why it was even there in the

(38:11):
first place. The World Baseball Classic is a hot second.
It doesn't even last that long. It's over before you
know it. And even if you are covering it and
you're you don't like it, to spew that I didn't
get it, yeah, I don't, and not to not even
understand the international pride, Like what don't you get? You know,

(38:33):
I guess it was Keith Albroom and the jackal that
he is was was crushing the international aspect of it.
And I'm going, why would you do that? Right? Like seriously,
you know, obviously there's there's country pride. If you come
from the Dominican Republic. Yeah, and you're you're, you know,
a baseball player and you come from the DR and

(38:55):
you're going, you know, you you there's there's the pride
and where you come. Like so many people are involved
with their heritage when it comes to this. Nolan Hadnado
said that his family was divided that his father was like, oh,
I don't know if I'm going for Cuba for the US,
I don't know. It's like it's more than just baseball.
And it was I thought Americans that were the ones

(39:20):
that were complaining the most. Yeah, yeah, I don't understand it.
I just don't. I don't get it. It's it's it's
just a weird phenomenon. How how and you know again
it's you see with soccer, you know, it's this is
like you take a break to play, whether the Euros
or the Concha calf or whatever it is. I mean,

(39:41):
there's you know, there's the precedents of international you know,
matches and what it is. All right, we gotta take
quick TiO. We'll come right back where the fellas on Fox. Well,
good morning, good morning, good morning, good morning six a. Yeah,
I meant in the east, three am in the west
on a Fox Sports Saturday weekend of the Elite eight.

(40:06):

You got all your protection in one place. Bundle and
save Progressive dot Com. All right, So we're talking about
last night's games and the stunning law like upsets over

(40:51):
the one seeds. And interestingly, I mean the Alabama game
was I think case in point that the tournament is
so different now, and the fact that if you're if
you're a team that's got a little talent and you've

(41:13):
been together and you're your juniors and seniors that you know,
you could slay to one seeds. You could slay these dragons.
They don't have the fire. They're too young. You know
you're you're too young. Now. Alabama is a really good team.
But I thought at San Diego State, which was underrated. Remember,

(41:35):
Sanego State's a five seed. This is not a team
that is you know, Princeton coming into fifteen. Sanego State's
a good team. And they come out and they were
unflappable when it looked like twice once early in the
second half and then middle of the second half Alabama

(41:58):
was going to run away with it. They which the
lead to nine, and then the next thing you know,
San Diego State comes right back a couple of dagger threes,
and the next thing you know, in the span of
forty five seconds, the nine point lead turns into a
one point lead. And then they just continue in San

(42:18):
Diego State with a dramatic run to take the lead
and never look back and really control the basketball game
over the last you know, eight minutes, they controlled it.
I mean San Diego State using it's you know, kind
of veteran. They were unflappable. They didn't they didn't freak

(42:39):
when they were down, and it looked like Alabama would
run away with it. And you know when a nite
when Brandon Miller you can't hit the ocean, you can
see it. You go, you know you're right to get beat.
And then you know, it's funny because Houston was never
even in it. I mean really, I mean they had
one moment and this second half where you know, they

(43:01):
go on to run and they they get within four
to Miami. But I've never felt like, you know, Houston
was going to win the game. I felt all along
that Miami was given them problems. Miami's in lovel team
just like Sanego State, but Miami even you know, to
acc team, so they're tested and they run, they run

(43:24):
a lot of guys at you. They played good defense
and they were never really in peril. And this is
two fives taking out two ones. It's been pretty wild.
You know, the other night I thought fa you would win.
The underdogs, you know, have just crushed at this entire

(43:47):
tournament and then Monty were talking to Ethan and he
you you were telling me you just tourn him. It's great. Yeah,
I think it's fantastic and good to be here. Good
to chime in. I know you're giving. Are you up? Yeah,
I'm up. I'm I'm trying to. I'm trying to. Monty
didn't say that. I didn't silend that tired. I didn't

(44:08):
think he sounded that tired. He does it. So so
Ethan's my man, right, like we go back. We have
the same roots and whole things. So I could tease him,
I could bust the chops right right, so you know,
I go he because we're during the break. How do
I sound? He sounds terrible. You were asleep, Marking here

(44:31):
was loving it. You would have thought you were Sebastian
man of sicatgo telling Jof. I was like, Mark, Yeah,
watch my bed. I did the same stuff that I love,
just behind the scenes. Yeah yeah, well you know what
he's doing. Mark. You remind me of this of the
dude who is always a He don'tn't speak all right

(44:57):
unless he's got something his say, like he you won't
You're smart, right, because here's the bottom line. The more
people talk, the more they just expose themselves to being
an idiot. All right, right, and I'm raising my hand.
I'm guilty, all right, I'm not talking Mark. He sits back.

(45:21):
He just takes it all in and then I'll hurt
you with his finger. You know what I'm saying. I mean,
that's kind of mark observation, observation, that's it. He's a
silent killer. Yes, yes, there is such a key. In fact,
I just saw something on the CBS Sunday morning about
how we talk to amus and how we don't how

(45:43):
we should learn to listen, and I go, well, you know,
as a talk show host, it's it's hard, all right.
You know, your first inclination is just to run your mouth.
I hear you. I'm not a host and I can
barely stay quiet, so I hear you too. It's tough.
It's not easy staying quiet these days. Well, but you

(46:07):
you like the tournament? You like, yeah, this where the
underdogs are, you know, run a while, the whole thing. Yeah,
the tournament always geeks me out. You know, I've always
liked it. I I like the fact that we got it,
like fau Kansas State, like I would never have guessed

(46:30):
at for to be in the Elite eight or San
Diego State. I did have Creighton not to toot my
own horn. Now it doesn't mean anything. I kan't it's winning,
but I did have but like that kind of said job,
thank you. I was waiting for that. Yes, thank you.
And then Miami Texas. I just think it's it's good

(46:51):
matchups the tournament, the not last night's game. I think
the seven and a half and the seven was way
too generous. That was ridiculous. But the night before it
was Every game was intense. It was intense. It was
a really good it was really good television. It was great.
Ya you know what I you know what I love
and I'll Butcher's your point that what I love about

(47:13):
it is the kid No from Kansas State, all right,
because every March there's a story. There's some kids that
just stand out to you and you get to know
them and you fall in love with them. And the
kid No from miss from the Kansas State in that game,

(47:36):
I mean, for his old tournament long, he's just a
blast to watch. I mean, I don't know if you're watching.
I love the kid I did. I love watching him.
I love I love his enthusiasm for the game. You know,
I love his flair for the game. He Marquis Snow
is five foot eight, right, and he just got he

(47:57):
just got game. Man. He balls out. He's all hard,
the kid, And I think the tournament shines a light,
a spotlight on players like that. Yeah, I think that
the entire team has swacked the entire team that has
that type of fire. And it's tough to beat a

(48:17):
team like that. Like, I don't know if you know
the story about the Keyante Johnson kid. He was on
the he was on the Florida team, and he was
the one that collapsed and then he came back and
now he's having this experience. He could have he could
have stopped playing basketball, could have made like millions of
dollars through the NC Double A. He decided to go

(48:38):
back play at Kansas Stay. I'm sure he's making good money.
But besides the point, he decided to take a risk
after collapsing on on the court, and it's just such
a cool story. It's like you want to root for
this team. It's like you don't care about the I
don't care about the tournament at all. Temple's not in it,
so I could care less, but you like about who wins.
I care about the tournament, but just the fact that

(48:59):
they have like a story to them, it just makes
you want to root for them. I don't know, that's me, No,
I agree, I'm with you and I don't know, Mancy.
You look at it, but like the the No thing
where you get the spotlight on a someone, on a
player like that, and you know the fact he's diminutive

(49:21):
and he's got a lot of beest, got a big heart,
and he plays with flair, you know, and flavor and
the whole thing. I mean, you know, it's hard. It's
impossible not to root for that kid, right, or even
if you're not rooting, to not want to follow it
and see what happens next. Yeah, and that's that's kind
of the beauty of this thing, right, Yeah, exactly, Like
I don't follow college basketball during the season very closely

(49:45):
at all, but when it comes to this tournament, there's
so many different storylines that it's like, I don't I'm
not rooting for anyone, but there are storylines and I
just want to see how it evolves. How is this
storyline going to end? And the fact that it's one game,
win or go home. I'm nervous. And again, I don't
even care who wins, and I'm nervous. I'm sweating when

(50:07):
I'm watching these games. It's true, man, it really, I think.
And again I think that's kind of that's kind of
the beauty of it. And that's what, you know, we
all get involved because it's there's two great days of
Thursday and Friday and it's wall to wall basketball. So

(50:27):
we're all in. It's good excuse to have like you know,
our you know, food and beer and bacchanal and watch basketball.
And it's so it's a lot of fun. But you know,
as the thing goes on and you kind of watch
it and everybody's brackets over and you got no chance
to win whatever pool you're in, you start going, well,
all right, well, you know it's actually the basketball's entertaining, right,

(50:51):
But it's the storylines are pretty good, they're pretty they're
a lot of fun, and I think that's kind of Listen,
it's lost a lot. I'm not going to lie, like,
you know, the college basketball is not I'm older than
you guys, and when I think back to the you know,
the nineties of college basketball with these great elite teams
because you had juniors and seniors that were NBA talent,

(51:15):
right Like, so NBA players are staying junior senior year,
Tim duncan, you know, comes back for a fifth year,
right Like, that's insane that that would never happen. And
so you know, you had these veteran teams that were
NBA to fill with NBA talent. They would never lose
to a once to a fifteen sixteen scene. That's why

(51:38):
it never happened for all those years. And the reason
why it happens now is you know, your best team,
your most talented teams of all your big programs are
all led by freshmen and sophomore That's why that's why
Perdue loses early. I mean, that's a fair point, but
you know it's okay. It's just it's just kind of

(51:58):
changes a little bit of college football all is, you know,
more of an elite product. But this tournament is it's
just fun. Like so if you look at it from
that standpoint and you go, you know, I don't care
about the blue bloods anymore, and Carolinas and Kansas and
Kentucky's and I just want to see, you know, fun

(52:20):
storylines and whether it's San Diego State or Miami or
Princeton or Fau. You know what that that's the charm
in it. Agreed. Agreed, there's a lot of charm. I
like that word. Yes, there's a lot of charm, especially
in this year's tournament. Yeah. Now it's the truth, it
really is, all right. I actually share something with you guys.

(52:42):
So I did a bracket. We messed around. I did
a bracket of sports food. All right, I'm listening, So
I need to uh. Now again, there's a little bit
of an East Coast bias in this thing, but I

(53:03):
want to get your guys opinion on it, all right,
because we're like we're to the uh we're on one
side we're into the Elite eight and the other side
we're in the uh sweet sixteen. But I want to
run it by you guys and see what you guys think.
We'll get back to the baseball talk as well, and
I promise I do want to open up the phone lines,
uh and get everybody's take on baseball. Maybe we'll do

(53:25):
that to start the seven am hour in the east,
four am hour in the West. We'll do that, uh,
And then I want to get you guys with this bracket,
this field of sixty four sports food and because it's
got a lot, it got it up. Yeah, it got
a lot of like. Uh, in fact, we thought we

(53:47):
got hacked in one of our Twitter polls and you know,
yeah it was there's some crime and poll you know,
all kinds of stuff going on. You know, again it's Philadelphia,
so you know, bad things happen. And somebody said even
on the internet it could have been someone from Montana.
But exactly so, I would have throw it. I would

(54:11):
I would have thrown this at you. Uh and see
what you guys before real quick, what was the word?
I didn't want to interrupt you, but you said, like, um,
people get to eat, you know, they get to eat,
drink their beer. And the who the no, I don't,

(54:31):
I don't isn't tight. Yeah, help us out here, educate us. Yeah,
it's just like it's like a party. It's like it's like, oh,
indulging the Abacanal is like it's like it's like a
you would do it. Uh, you know, it's the party.

(54:53):
It's it's you know, it's one of those overboard type parties.
I am the Baccanal. You know what I mean right, right,
did you see? Uh? What was the uh? Oh god,
what was the naming the movie? Uh? And I loved
it too. In fact, nineteen twenties Hollywood, it was up

(55:15):
for was it a great gasp? But no kind of
no no no, but it was on those lines. It
was no, no, no, but it was Oh my god,
it was nominated for the Oscars that just passed. Yes. Oh,
you're asking the wrong person. Oh you're not a big guy.
I am a silent movie. That was Mars. Sorry that

(55:36):
I didn't mean to cut No. Oh my god, I
just watched it too. Uh my whatever, it wasn't the
Elvis one right? No. Babylon, Babylon, Yeah, so you opening
seen a Babylon is a big part. It's a big
box of all with drinking for all kinds of things. Anyway,

(56:00):
that's that's what that is. Yeah, but a little you know,
well like like a Latin the bucket out does not
include kids. Oh yeah, oh yeah, I know there's a
lot of kids in party. All right, we'll come back.
Not freking no mark to keep that dude in line,

(56:22):
would you laughing? All right, we'll come back. Wants to
do and I want to throw this food thing at
you guys, where the fellas hanging right here? Fox Sports Radio.
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in
the nation. Catch all of our shows at Fox Sports
Radio dot com and within the iHeart Radio app search

(56:45):
f s R to listen live. All right, welcome back,
fellas hanging out on a Fox Sports Saturday. Is that
we come alive from the Tireraq dot com studios. You know,
everybody does to fill the sixty four is something, the

(57:06):
bracket of whatever, so you know we always do it
every year. So this year I do sports food. So
let me run this by you guys, and Mark feel
free to chime into. All right, So I had the
four top regions. Now you have to understand that I'm
doing this in Philadelphia, right, so that's going to affect

(57:31):
the region titles the one seeds. So in one region
is the pizza region. We would agree that that's a
one seed, right, yeah, all right, then pizza gonna get

(57:51):
a pizza? I was like, where are gonna get a pizza?
We're not in New York City. It's two am. I
told her watch me anyway, good waiting go on? So here,
let me ask you, that's a great question is there
a because I've never, like all the times I've been
in La, I never did late night pizza and only
late night. The only late night food I did was burritos.

(58:13):
Yeah that's easier, right, Yeah, you're you're talking like after midnight, right, yeah, yeah,
I don't you go out like you're going out. You
know you're going out, you know claub whatever you're doing
bar and you don't want a little late night action,
little snack action. You know. Burrito was always was always
the best in La. Yes, easiest one. Yeah. But no pizza, right,

(58:38):
there's no like in New York you can always find
a pizza joint, give a slice, right, what are you doing?
You're not gonna find a slice of pizza in La
Dominoes maybe two in the morning. I mean I'm not
a Domino's guy. I haven't had that since middle school.
But if I had to get a slice of pizza,
you know, moull Berries down the street maybe open, absolutely not.

(59:00):
But it's not open. You know what, No, you got
no shot. You're crazy. It's three thirty. There's no shot
to get a slice of pizza from from a record
I got one where Hollywood and Sherman Oaks's best explicit word.
I can't say pizza. That's bleeping pizza. Yeah, where it

(59:20):
makes sense right where two am, two am to ten
pm it's open, so it's closed eleven to two interesting, huh.
And then there's mister Pizza and van nice. Oh yeah, pizza,
mister pizza. What do you want? Olives? I would just

(59:41):
like a cheese pizza, Thank you so much, all right,
carry on here, Olives. It was a total joeb my pizza.
What do you do? What's your go to Pepperoni sausage? Yeah, yeah, yeah,
that dude, you're playing, oh veggie. But I've always yeah,
I've always it's like a slice of cheese pizza. I
don't think pizza needs anything. You're right, I don't exactly,

(01:00:05):
thank you. Yeah, it's actually exact. Listen, I've created something
called the Pizza Police, all right, all right, because obviously, uh,
it's my birthright. You know, I got family in Naples,
all right, so that's the birthplace of pizza. And yes,
and we don't appreciate putting stuff on pizza, all right.

(01:00:29):
I'm like in Indianapolis they were putting pickles on pizzas
not so that no right right, I mean I again
and people want to jump it up. I do all
this stuff and buffalo chicken and all these other things,
and you know pineapple or violation with the pineapple if

(01:00:50):
you're wait, what was what did they throw on? What'd
you say before this? What was that? Like the buffalo
to pickles, to pickles, Yeah, the pickles that's in Indianapolis.
You should not be able to eat food for a
week if you should be grounded on your pizza. Great.
So the one seed was the four one seeds in

(01:01:11):
the regions where the pizza region, the cheese steak region.
Now we're in Philadelphia, so that's the national sandwich of choice,
right and our our you know, our are we celebrate
cheese stead it's a big deal. The Hogi region, which
is like a sub right, So the sub that that's

(01:01:34):
a once like you go get sandwiches and then the wing. Wow,
these are all unbelievable foods. So that was one seeds.
Oh my god, Now I don't know, it's funny because
so then the chooes and so then after that, you know,
you got all kinds of all kinds of items for

(01:01:55):
sports food. So there's a like an array of French fries.
There's the nachos. Ya right, you're there's definite hollypin your poppers,
landing rings, your fingers. I wait for it. What do
you wait for? The mozzarella sticks? Geez, where is it?

(01:02:16):
The dog? The hot dog? Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, we
got the so the hot dog in a stunning loss upset,
you know, the many hot dogs, the pigs in the
blackt Yeah, went down to popcorn chicken. Uh nah, I'm
not with that. I listen. I railed against it too,

(01:02:39):
but I you know again, the listeners had choice, so
you know that's how we roll the poll. Wow. Yeah,
messed up right, Yeah, the people spoke, The people spoke.
It is what it is. So we had So I'll
tell you what advanced so far in the cheesesteak region. Cheesesteak, well,

(01:03:00):
the popcorn ship popcorn itself. Cheese steak beat the potatoes skin.
MONSI ever have a cow zone? Yes, all right, so
the potato skin matched up with the cow zone, and
the cow zone beat the skin. The burger beat the pretzel, okay,

(01:03:24):
and the burger's facing in the Elite eight nachos, the
two seed Oh interesting, would you agree with that? Yeah?
I can as a final four in that region. Cheese, steak,
cow zone, burger nachos. Yeah, that's pretty solid. The cow

(01:03:48):
zones four right, the cow zone is a four seed, yes,
as it should be. Yes, it's not the rated item,
the absolutely absolutely. They got great one at Penn State
if anybody's at that campus right now, good one. I
have not had a cal zone in ten years. Yeah.
Well you know, listen, I get you gotta try. You

(01:04:10):
wanted something that's that's ridiculous. It's decade. Yeah, it's a
cal zone, but they don't put like so the sauce
and the mozzarella is inside the pocket, right and then
they deep fry it. You're making my mouth water and

(01:04:31):
that thing. So you know, it's funny. There's I was
in Puerto Rico and I had one. It's similar, but
it was it was like a beef and cheese item.
But this is and this is called the pizza frittam
and it's it's a delicious item or panzerati. Some people

(01:04:55):
would know it as a panzerati, which is a good
which is a good item. Ethan order that pizza. All right,
I'll run the other three weeks by you. In the
second but man hit us with some trending. Oh you
know who's trending right now, Brandon Miller of Alabama and
people are rude, funny but rude. On Twitter, Mamba tweeted

(01:05:20):
after tonight's performance against San Diego State, it's obvious he
wasn't the shooter. Rude. That is all road. Yeah, because
Alabama lost. So for the first time ever in this tournament,
there will be no number one seeds in the Elite
eight because not just Alabama was eliminated, but Houston was

(01:05:43):
eliminated as well by by Miami. Texas and Creton are
headed to the Elite Eight, which all starts tomorrow. There
are two games tomorrow going on in the Elite Eight
to kick off. But we're gonna do a little NBA
action like the Grizzlies, who clinched a playoff spot in
the Western Conference on Friday. They totally rocked the Rockets
one fifty one to one. Fourteen was the final score.

(01:06:04):
But Luke Kannard, former Clipper, why did we get rid
of him? Thirty points off the bench, all three pointers.
He hit ten three pointers, ten out of eleven. John
Morand did play off the bench nineteen minutes eighteen points
and eight assists in his game. We also had the
Kings beat the Suns one thirty five to one twenty seven. Now,
according to the Athletic barring a setback, Sons forward Kevin

(01:06:24):
Durant is targeting Wednesday's game against the Timberwolves for his
return from an ankle injury. Suns head coach Monty Williams
was find twenty thousand dollars for badmouthing the officials after
Wednesday's loss to the Lakers. The Lakers on Friday beat
the Thunder one sixteen to one eleven without Lebron James,
without D'angela Russell, Anthony Davis thirty seven points and fifteen rebounds,

(01:06:44):
and the Hornets handed the Mavericks another loss, one seventeen
to one. On nine, Luca Dontech and Kyrie Irving played
still no bueno. Luca Dontech was find thirty five thousand
dollars for that money gesture that he made towards the
Revs on a Wednesday's On Wednesday's Lass two the Warriors.
The Warriors did beat your seventy six ers one twenty
to one twelve, while the Bucks dominated the Jazz one

(01:07:07):
forty four to one sixteen. Janni Santa tookoom but just
to Star twenty four point six rebounds and eleven assists,
and the Celtics another win for them. They took down
the Pacers one twenty to ninety five, with Jason Tatum
scoring thirty four points and seven rebounds. A little NHL
action happened on Friday. The Sabers edge the Devils five
to four. The Blue Jackets outscored the Islanders Islanders five

(01:07:30):
to four as well in overtime, and the Avalanche, who
have won seven out of their last eight, beat the
Coyotes three to one. Back to you, Anthony, all right, Monty,
where the fellows zagging out from the tire rack dot
Com studios talk a lot about the tournaments. You can
well imagine, as Monty told you, another wild, a wild

(01:07:53):
night where both one seeds go down. No one seeds
in the tournament are left. They're all dead, all of
them are gone. No one's all out. So the Elite
eight is upon us today, two games tomorrow, two games.
We'll dive into them a little bit and kind of

(01:08:14):
analyze that. Also, Baseball on the horizon because opening Day
is coming up on Thursday, which we cannot wait for
buying large. I'll ask you, Monsey, because you're a big
time baseball person, do you like the rule changes buying large? Yes?
I do. I do. We're actually gonna have hitters hitting

(01:08:37):
above three hundred. Well, that's gonna be nice. Yeah. Yeah,
you're making millions of dollars, you should be hitting above
three hundred. So I'm really happy about that. And yeah,
I'm glad that the game is going to be sped
up a little bit. It's not. It's just like watching
some of these guys readjust their batting gloves every single
moment that they're up there. It gets a little old.

(01:08:58):
So I'm glad that that that's gonna be cut a
little bit. And yeah, the shift, I'm for it. I
think it's gonna be good. The large base thing is
kind of funny, you know. I'm like, are we gonna
add that orange base that we have in softball where
you can run out of bounds because those basses are
pretty big. But I'm about it. I'm about it, to
be honest with you. I mean, I'm with it. I'm
with it, You're with it. I like it. Yeah, you

(01:09:21):
know it's funny because I agree. I think for the
most part. I mean, you know, we talked about the
whole concept of you know, the pitch clock and you know,
to make sure that you really keep the drama alive,
that you turn that thing off in the ninth inning
and just allowed to breathe allowed the game to breathe

(01:09:41):
a little bit. So you know, that's that's a part
that's I think legitimate. But Oliver All, I actually like
outlawing the shift. Uh. It just it forces you to
put the ball in play. I the more, the more
the balls to play. The worst thing for the sport
was all the strife scouts and just action. Yes, yeah,

(01:10:05):
and everybody because of the shift. It was either like, well,
I'm not going to hit it into these three guys
that are all standing over there. I'm gonna go for
the home run. And it was like no, I'm glad
that we're gonna get a little bit more baseball action.
Or how good at Dodgers is going to be? Oh?
You know, I hate that question because it's like, I know,

(01:10:28):
we're very lucky. We have one. Yes, we have won
our division. You know, so many years we're in the playoffs,
I believe ten years in a row. Like we're it's
lucky to be a Dodger fan totally. But I want
to say that we're gonna, you know, make it, but
it's really it's impossible. So many things have to go

(01:10:50):
your way. You have to be in groove at the
right time. Not in groove at the beginning of the season,
that doesn't matter. You gotta be in groove at the
end of the season. So will we make the playoffs.
I'm anticipating yes that we will, but I don't know.
I don't know. It's so frustrating. It's all frustrating. They

(01:11:10):
are good, but that's not that's not the problem. They've
been good. You know. I'm just glad that Dave Roberts
isn't saying that he's guaranteeing the World Series like he
did last year. At least he didn't say that on
The Dan Patrick Show this time. Yeah. No, And again,
I mean, if you look at it right and you go,
I'm gonna come at it. First of all, you know,

(01:11:31):
I think you can use a little pitching course, especially
with Fueler losing Bueller, huge, huge loss. That one really
really sucks. Hopefully, Dustin May can you know I agree
with you. I agree, so hopefully him. You know, I
really Tony Gonsolin is great, Julio Yas is great. I

(01:11:52):
want Kershaw to like become a bullpen pitcher. I want
him to take that step because I feel like it's like,
you can give us some good innings, but why not
come out of the bullpen. You could be problems. I
just think you need him to start. I just don't
think he was I don't like synder Guard. I mean,
let's see if he's back from that injury. I you know,
I'm I'm very skeptical. He's hoping for you know that

(01:12:16):
the Dodgers are gonna revamp his career. Yeah, that's what
he's hoping for. But that's that's what he's hoping is
going to happen. But yeah, I'm not counting on him to,
you know, get us far. But I just I Kershot
to me is um. I love him. I love him.
I just don't know if I would if I want

(01:12:37):
him as a starter. I don't know if he can
give me the six Indians that you want as a starter.
And so I'm just like he's so good that I
feel like he could be consistently good coming out of
the bullpen. Like two innings, three innings. It's interesting. I mean, look,
you've got a lot of new faces. Martinez and Peralta
are in h Miguel Vargains, Vargas, yeah right, Rojas, yeah right,

(01:13:02):
you got how's Altman? How's James Altman? He looks good,
he looks good. Yeah, he was training. He would come
and train before the spring training actually happened. He was
coming into the stadium and you would see him kind
of run, yeah, with Vargas a lot. So they look good.
You got two young studs, so you see, we'll see.

(01:13:22):
You know, it's interestinging lose Turner, of course, we can't wait.
E and I are oh yeah, yeah, a great World
Baseball classic. So good. He said the stadium was allowed
as you ever heard of. After you hit that home run,
Yeah yeah, I'll let you know. After he goes to
the bank, he'll be saying he'll be taking that back, right,

(01:13:45):
bell beds. I got a pizza on the way. No,
you don't time out. I needed time out and then
I'll go to come back. You gotta pizza, pizza, you
gotta pizza. That's impressed. That's great work by I listen,
I'm impressed. The we'll take a quick TiO. We'll come back.
I got give the other regions it lots to do.

(01:14:08):
It's where the fellas right here, Mancy and for Figgy
Fox Sports Radio. All right, welcome back fellas. We hang
out on a Saturday morning with you guys. We're live

(01:14:31):
from the entire rack dot com studio. So you got
your pizza. So I'm impressed that you use your your pizza.
You know how to get one in at at three
forty nine am in La Free advertisement. Thank you Milan's Pizzeria.
If you're out there doing God's work. Now, you're doing

(01:14:53):
God's work even we're in it together. That's what a
producer does, get their team FEEDSA you are you're right.
That is a successful producer. I gotta do your part,
you know. So you have you gotta you gotta cheat
and you get well done. You gotta get it well
done too. You know your pizza well done. I do
like my pizza well done. But I did not say that.

(01:15:14):
You know. I ordered on the app and I don't
when I ordered on the app, I usually don't put
the notes in the bottom, but I should. That's a
good yeah, it's a good little you know. You never
know like with the because if you're gonna go strong
with the pie, especially when it's a new place, if
you get it correct. Sometimes the places they because they

(01:15:34):
want to be fast. Yeah, I'm a little cook it.
I'm a little nervous. I'm not gonna lie. Yeah, I'm
a little nervous. I can't under cook because otherwise it
kills the crusts. Yeah, it'll be a shame. It'll be
a sham. It's not good. But you know, we tried,
all right in the pizza region. See what you guys
think of this. There's a couple a couple of big matches.
The chili is up against the cheese fry, all right,

(01:15:58):
how would you vote there? Mons Um, I don't care
for chili very much, So you go cheese from easily.
You gotta go. You have to have fries cheese agree.
I'm with you on that one. Yeah, it's not a
very hard decision for me. And then the ribs are

(01:16:22):
up against the pretzel dog. What'd you say the ribs? Yeah,
I mean ribs are ribs RB Yeah yeah, ribs blow
that out of the park. Yeah, you're in on that.
On the rib all right, how about this matchup between
the two and the seven in the Hogi region Popa

(01:16:44):
hallepena Poppers versus the case of dia Oh oh, where
would you go there? Oh? That one's a little tougher,
a little tougher. Um. Right now, I think I'm gonna
pick Hey, who is that? I'm trying to taste it.
I'm trying to taste it. I'm going to go with

(01:17:05):
the olive popper, I think so, I think so. I
think yeah, I'm going with case additional nice cheese bread.
So you go with the cheese case sedilla mots. What
would you what's your case adia of choice? Just cheese
probably yeah, yeah, no onions. I could do some veggies

(01:17:27):
in it, like a little bit of a fahita casadilla. Okay, yeah,
that's a strong item right there. The popper, it's the poppers.
It's just a versatile you know, it's it's a staple.
It is, right and anything fried it's hard for me
to say no to exactly exactly. And then Chris, there's

(01:17:49):
another one. Uh, the chicken cutlet, which is like a
chicken chicken finger kind of thing. Was a chicken cutlet
sandwich goes up against the egg roll, and the egg
roll is very versatile because you have the traditional Chinese
egg roll, right, or you can rock the cheese steak

(01:18:12):
egg roll. I don't know if you've ever had that.
I don't think so, but I'm imagining it. Let me
tell you something. The chief steak egg roll is ridiculous. Yeah,
it's better than an egg roll. Yeah, I can see that,
you could see it. And then the buffalo they do
a buffalo chicken egg roll. Rest all so much. And

(01:18:33):
then they do a pizza roll, which is like an
egg roll, but inside is a pizza. Yeah. Yeah, I'm
going the cutlet though, you're gonna go to cutlet. Yeah,
all right, it's chicken, come on, I can't go wrong
with that. But my grandmother, when I was a kid,
my grandmother used to have a frying pan that she's

(01:18:54):
like she never washed front the frying pan and the
frying pan and was only used for chicken cutlets. So
she would get to cut the chicken and then she
would put to use the bread froms the seasoning on
the egg, right, and she would pound it out and

(01:19:15):
she would fry it in olive oil in this pan
and the pan remained sacred. That's awesome. Yes, that's actually
pretty cool. Where so where what happened to the pan? Like?
You got the pan? Now? Where's the pan? Now? Man?
You know my cousin me and my cousin Joey, we

(01:19:36):
were looking weak. We lost the pan when my aunt
moved out of a half Yeah, all right? Where the
fellas fox? All right? Good morning, good morning, good morning,
good morning. Oh everybody's having a wonderful, a wonderful Saturday.

(01:21:29):

Mark and of course in for Figgy Monsey who's doing
such a great job. Love visiting with Moncy. It's been
a while and it's great to reconnect and we're talking
a lot of the tournament that you can well imagine
after this Elite eight games that we got going on.

(01:21:53):
We'll look at it next hour from a betting standpoint.
Our analyst Brad Feinberg and the Big Brain will join
us to take a look at it. But just here's
your schedule today tonight at six o nine Eastern through
and I Pacific. It's the Darling Game, the battle of

(01:22:13):
the two Darlings, Kansas State led by my man Markis Noel,
who has just been amazing five foot eight Marquis Noel,
nineteen dimes and then overtime went over ZOEA Michigan State.
The other day facing FAU Florida Atlantic now thirty four

(01:22:36):
and three on this season. Florida Atlantic. What a great story.
They've been a blast. They take out Tennessee, they beat
Fairley Dickinson, they beat Memphis. You know, it's been a
good run for FAU. Good team. And uh, I think again,
it's another great game fa U Kansas State, FAUS dangerous

(01:22:59):
man there again. One of these teams that have played together.
That's that's the veteran. Anytime you have teams with a
heavy with a bunch of sen juniors and seniors, you
just you're on a different level. You just don't get
you know, freaked, and uh and and unravel, you don't
unravel in the late moments of games. And then I

(01:23:22):
think the elite game of the entire weekend is going
to be the best game. It really is. I loved
Gonzaga Ucla and now you get Gonzaga Yukon, uh, which
I think is going to be an incredible game. Yukon
is the two and a half point favorite over the Zags.
The Zags have been, uh, just a lot of fun. Man.

(01:23:43):
They beat Uclad. That wasn't that a great game? I
bet old California was in on that game. Oh yeah,
my dad was watching it and I was. I was
visiting my parents that night, and my dad was like,
that coach for UCLA, I would have pressured the ball
from the beginning. Why did he do that? I was like,
I don't know, Boppy. This was all in Spanish. He's

(01:24:04):
yelling like he's invested in Spanish, and I was just like, Dad,
I don't, I don't know's I did you see that?
I was like I did? I did? Yeah, I know you.
You definitely would have yelled at me if I did
not pressure on that inbound. That's great. I love it.
He's right. Yeah, he's hot spot all your father, your father,
big sports guy? Oh huge, huge is He's the reason

(01:24:26):
I am you know here right now? Awesome? Yeah? I
love that? Which is uh, what's his favorite sport, definitely
a basketball. My father About like five months ago, I
posted a picture of him. He's how is my dad's
like sixty seven sixty eight? I should probably know and uh,
he and his buddies from high school went to Cancun
and played in a basketball tournament for men that were

(01:24:47):
sixty and older. Oh that's what my dad's doing. Oh
I love it. That is that is yeah fabulous, Yeah
that is fat. So he grew up where did he
grow up? At Costa Rica? And you grew up playing
ball in Costa Rica? He did, Yes, San Jose exactly. Yeah, yeah,
I was. I loved said I love Costa Rica. Oh yeah,

(01:25:10):
it's beautiful. Yeah it really is. Yeah, I had a
great time I had um So, I was in San
Jose and San Jose is not even that pretty. There's
so much other places that are way prettier. Yeahhaco Beach,
oh yeah, which is really cool. A lot of heavy surfing,
you know, I mean, there's I mean it was, I mean,

(01:25:30):
it's just a beautiful it is. It's a rainforest. Yeah,
it's gorgeous, it really is. I was in um it
was funny. I was in at a restaurant in San
Jose And first of all, the coffee's unbelieving. Oh yeah,
I know, yeah, you can't go back. I was like,
oh my god, it's fantastic. But I was in San
Jose and I had so I forget what I was eating,

(01:25:54):
and but there are peppers, and so I asked the guy.
I go, yeah, any anything, anything hotter, and he was like, yeah, sure,
you know whatever, and he brings me back peppers and
he goes, there are they good? I went, yeah, whatever,
and I just gave my kind of shrugged. He went white,
you went hotter? I went, yeah, I could do hotter.

(01:26:15):
And so he looks at me and he's like, all right.
So he comes back with another group of peppers and
then he goes, how are they like, He's looking at me,
and I go, They're good, they're good. He's not too hot.
I went no. He's like, you could do hot I'll
do hotter. And then he went to his trunk, the
trunk of his car, and he got these peppers, these

(01:26:38):
peppers out of the trunk of the car and they
were hot. Oh yeah, and they were delicious. Like I like,
I'm a heat person, so they were great. Coaster you
get food is not very spicy. Yeah, yeah, it's not.
It's not some peppers in the trunk of his car. Man. Yeah,
they were, they were. They were the truth. Let me

(01:27:00):
tell you. I like that. They were the rain Did
you grow up? Is your father from the near the rainforest? Uh? Well,
I'm from Coasta. I was born in Costa Rica. My
entire family was born in Costa Rica, but my dad
moved out here when I was about four years old.
You searching for the American dream, and so here we are.

(01:27:22):
It's just my parents and my brothers. So my entire
Costa Rican family is still in Costa Rica. My sixty cousins,
all of my rands, and they're all there. They're all
where are they at? Most of some are in San Jose,
but most of them are in like Artago and yeah,
which is not far from San Jose. But you know,
the roads are so terrible in that area. Yeah, it

(01:27:43):
takes a while to get there, but if it was here,
we'd be there in twenty minutes type of right right now,
I didn't notice that we drove. We drove the country
a lot. Oh yeah, yeah, the roads you're a little tough.
They are a little tough, and you gotta know how
to get around, so it's not far from the capitol.
We actually got we got stopped by the police. And

(01:28:03):
because so that the the speed limit was on the road,
like painted on the road, right, not like SI right.
So I don't know my buddy, and my buddy drives fast,
and it was are you're driving? And we get stopped.
So so the police officer, you know, we're all to

(01:28:24):
win it down, you know, obviously we're you know, America,
American and whatever. Yeah, so I just go, hey, well,
I was the guy paid the firing right now. Yeah,
I gave him fifty dollars. I'm paying a ticket. I
just paid a ticket right now, sir. And he sees
the fifty. He grabs the fifty and he goes, sure

(01:28:46):
you got it. By the way, you needn't know where
to go, help you wherever you want to. I'm sure, Oh,
I'm sure. And you know what, he might have not
even giving you a ticket, but he was, yeah, in trouble.
I was. It's like I've been paying now, man, we're good,
like you know, God bless Yeah. Whatever. It was funny,

(01:29:06):
you know, it was, but it was a great I
loved it. I mean the aesthetic beauty was incredible. The
rainforest and it really is a rainforest, like when you're
driving and you're seeing all these animals all over the
place in the trees. And that was Now again you
understand that you know, I'm from Philadelphia, right, so I'm

(01:29:28):
I'm a city kid, right. So I see we're walking
and it was like we were our hotel was I
think it was like it was almost separate and it
was like a cottage type of thing and whatever it was. So,
but in front of it, in front of the door
that they had like a little makeshift porch and in

(01:29:49):
front of the door, I thought was like a like
a ceramic frog, right, but it was a real frog,
Like it's like mons, like one of these Like it
was the size of a dog, this thing, I know

(01:30:10):
what what Like first I was like looking at I
was going to touch it, and I'm like, whoa, what
the It's like it's sold movie. Yeah, uh you know,
like I didn't. I wasn't used to like that kind
of a yo a you see it. I mean the
frog was bigger than you. It's really crazy and you're
just walking and there's like a giant iguana coming up

(01:30:33):
to you. As you're eating hoping to get a little snack,
or there's a monkey on the tree. Yes, it's it's
pretty crazy. Yeah, it's pretty cool, man. It really is beautiful. Anyway,
It's funny how we got there after after your father
was talking about UCLA pressing the ball, right yea, you know,

(01:30:54):
and he's right about that. Yes. Uh, the Gonzaga Yukon's
going to be just an amazing game. I'm really looking
forward to it. That's again tonight, Uh, eight forty nine Eastern.
We'll see what time it tips off, but around a
fifty eastern five fifty Pacific. It's gonna be a great game.
And you know, chances are I mean to the three teams,

(01:31:16):
I like, obviously you're the winner of Yukon, your winner
of Yukon Gonzaga, so I like, you're like both those teams,
and I like Texas, so you know, it should be
interesting the winner of that Yukon Gonzaga game could could
actually win the whole thing. Yeah, I'm with you, I agree,
I agree. I had Gonzaga going far. I think I
think I had Yukon. I haven't checked. Actually this exact

(01:31:38):
matchup Yukon and Gonzaga and I have Gonzaga winning. I
haven't alert everybody the pizza has arrived. Oh yeah, how look, yeah,
I'm sorry to cut in on the important stuff. Now,
how's your pie? Look, I'm about I'm opening it right now.
It's a little bit of a interesting situation here. We
have tape. Well, yeah, I gotta seal it. They don't

(01:32:00):
get yet. It Oh not bad. Yeah, look at you.
Listen to the excitement in your voice. Wow, you break
open the pizza at four thirteen in the morning. You're
looking live at the pizza pie in the Western region. Unbelievable.
I'm gonna have to tweet this out. So it's a

(01:32:21):
good pizza. Oh, unbelievable. I mean not unbelievable to be honest,
but but unbelievable for the morning. Yeah, it's pretty uh,
it's it's pretty well done. Um, and they delivered. I
mean it looks like you know, you know what it
looks like. It looks like high school not not on

(01:32:44):
that level, but like that type of pizza. But that
sometimes hits. It sometimes hits especially I'm an believe I'll
be honest with it, Like, you can have great pizza
right right, But to me, there is no such thing
as in edible pie. I agree with you. Yeah, there

(01:33:04):
is no pizza I won't eat. There is better pizza, right, yeah, right,
most pizza. Yeah, I mean it is what it is, right, Like,
you can't really kill unless the sauces, like it's bad,
Like you can't sweet that the sweet sauce I hate.
But other than that, I think you know you can't there.

(01:33:24):
You know, there's degrees of bad. But it's still pizza,
so you still gonna eat it. I make my kids,
I make them the uh, the pizza bread. So if
I have rolls, right, what I do is I cut
I cut open the rolls like so if they're imagine
the sandwich role. And we have pretty good bread around here, right,

(01:33:44):
so I'll well, I usually have homemade because I always
keep homemade marianara around. I'll put the marinara, I'll put mozzarella,
a little regano, maybe some pepperoni on the bread. I'll
cut them in a half on the bread and and
I bake it and then I put them in the
oven and they go nuts. It's like, you know, and

(01:34:05):
it's a good snack that they love. Yeah, when I
was little, I don't know, I don't know how I
don't know what this is. In English, it's a bolio,
which is like, um, I know it's not a bigett,
but it's bread, but it's we call it a bolijo.
And when I was little, I used to cut the
bolio in half and I used to open like tomato
sauce out of a can and grab cheese and shred

(01:34:26):
it and I would put it in a toaster. Yeah. Yeah,
you're like a fresh bread pizza. But it's like all
made right and it's tasty. Yeah. Yeah. And it's better
when it's like when you put it in the oven,
because you're gonna get like you crisp up, yeah, bread exactly. Yeah,
why of course, yeah, you know what's out. Yes, we're

(01:34:47):
going to come back. I want to do some I
want to do some baseball, all right. I want to
kind of go over with you guys. And I would
like to open up the phone lines to the audience
at eight seven seven nine nine on Fox eight seven
seven nine nine on Fox, and the question is pretty planking.
The Major League Baseball opens Thursday is opening day, and

(01:35:11):
I can't I really can't wait. And I'm curious where
you're at with baseball and if baseball is making a comeback,
I feel it, I sense it. But you know, again,
I'm on the I'm in the East coast part where
there is a lot of baseball love, and the Phillies
are good and baseball is popular still in New York

(01:35:31):
and Boston. I'm curious around the country where are you
at with baseball? Like are you into it? And what
about the kids or the kids playing? Because I kind
of seen an uptick of baseball and I hope it
makes it, you know, hope it's on the comebacks route
because you know, I love the game. It's just a
beautiful game. So we'll talk about that. Eight seven, seven,

(01:35:53):
nine nine on Fox. Will open up the phone lines
and tell me about baseball, about your your team at
what's going on, where you at with it, you know,
because I love the sport and I want to see it,
you know, thrive where the fella is hanging out right
here on Fox Sports Radio as we get to hang

(01:36:15):
out on a beautiful Saturday, right in Saturday, about to
u embark on spring soon. Baseball is only horizon. Opening
Day is Thursday, all right, and I want to find
out where you guys are at when it comes to baseball. Right,

(01:36:39):
where are we at? You know, where are we at
with the game? My I tell I tell the story
all the time. My uh my little massumoke, he's ten,
he plays ten you baseball, travel ball, and so I'm
around it all the time. Man, Like I see all
the kids playing in and we just uh we have
you know, everybody's the kids are out and you know,

(01:37:00):
we just had our first outdoor practice. We've been inside
since December. So we're now outdoors and we got a
game tomorrow night and cannot wait. Some kind of curious
where you guys are at. Let's go to John in Ohio. Hello, John,
Good morning, How you doing, Buddy? Good Johnny? Hey? First

(01:37:22):
of all, about the pizza. Uh, you know, there's different
degrees of pizza, like you said, but you know my
friends say, you know, pizzas kind of like sex, even
even bad pizzas pretty good. Yeah. I agree with that.
I subscribe to that state theory. I'm with Love and Gus.

(01:37:43):
Well with the baseball. First of all, are they gonna
have baseball? I mean, what's with Bally Sports? What do
you mean? Well? Are they gonna broadcast the baseball games?
Or have they? Have they worked that out there was
a yeah, no, no, yeah, yeah, the games we're fine. Well, yeah,

(01:38:04):
we're gonna be fine next year too. I mean there's
just gonna be like one listen, I can only look
at like Thursday and I go it's opening Day and
I'm in and that's where I'm at. Like, tell me, Johnny,
are you like are you into it? Like are you
I'm a big well big Guardians fans, Guardian fans, um
um and and that team is good. Yeah, they're they're

(01:38:28):
they're the scrappy team. I mean they hit, they play
a little ball, and they run the base as well.
I mean they don't have a problem with that with
the three outcomes, you know, the walk to the home
run in the strikeouts. I mean, they move the ball around,
the multiple hits. But when they come to the playoffs,
you know, it's kind of tough because they need the
home run ball in the playoffs. I know, I know,

(01:38:50):
now you're now you're right about that, But I like, listen,
you know, Josh Bell, I don't care you know how
old he is, he could still hit right, he can
come on in it. And I agree with you. I like,
you know, Jose Ramiers is a great, great player. I
love him and as uh, you know, nail Or is
a big deal. Can nail Or hit? That's a left
handed power bat. He's got to give you too, now, yell,

(01:39:16):
I gotta tell you. I like that squad. Yeah, and
Bieber listen you you when you go Bieber Mackenzie Quantrole.
I mean, you know Chivale, that's a good team. Yeah,
but unfortunately we're gonna lose Biber probably pretty soon. I
hope not. Yeah, maybe we're sometimes we're a pharmacistem for

(01:39:37):
the Yankees teams. That's right now, that's and you know what,
you nail it, dude, Like that's a great point, John,
you nail it. That's the one. The biggest difference. Thanks,
my brother. I have a great morning. The one difference
between the NFL is that the Packers can exist and
they can win. You have a team that can win.

(01:40:01):
That's a big deal. And you have to Cleveland, who
I think is a good team. Like I like the Indian,
I like the Guardian, excuse me, but like the Pirates
have no chance and you got too many teams that
they just can't fiscally compete with these other big markets.
And that's always been the problem. With baseball, like you

(01:40:22):
need the NFL model. It works. So you can have
the Packers, and you can have the Titans and all
you can have Jacksonville and all these teams are legitimate
and they have every bit of chance to win as
the Giants or the Rams or the Raiders, right and that,

(01:40:44):
and that's a big deal. And I think that's that's
still the sports biggest problem. Mike is from Texas. Good morning, Michael,
Good morning guys. Look before I get into my baseball question,
my final four for your deal, you got to have
Philly cheese steak, the Poppers, the cheese fries, and the

(01:41:06):
egg roll, with the Philly cheese steak defeating the cheese
fries in the finals. Huge six years old, okay, and
I've been in baseball all of my life, and I'm

(01:41:27):
tell me if I'm missing something. I was excited about
the World Baseball Classic, but so disappointed because I felt
like we didn't play to win. And here's why I
say that. You get to lead off walk in the
top of a ninth inning, you pitch run. You have
Mookie Bets who can hit, but there's no reason why

(01:41:51):
he shouldn't be sacrificing that guy over for Trout to
face to honey, either he gonna beat him walk and
then you have Goldschmidt on the back to win the
entire thing. And that was a total letdowns. You you
are a good baseball man. You are You're a good
baseball man. You like that, and that's how the game

(01:42:15):
would have been played in any other era prior to
this one. You're you're spot all that. Yeah, and you know,
and you guys have made me hungry as long as
I've head on almost ate my pillow. But I'm gonna
have to go find some direcast. Now you gonna get
a cheesesteak for breakfast. I love the fact you appreciate

(01:42:36):
the cheesesteak, bikey. That's all of course. I'm now u.
Saint Louis is where I'm originally fun, okay, and the
best baseball team besides big markets in all the planet
or the Saint Wis Cartins, yep, without the big budget,
without the big TV deals. We understand baseball and we
make it work. We don't cry about being a smaller market.

(01:42:57):
We just execute and learn how to work with what
you hear now, I'm with you. That's always been a great,
great baseball city. Back. I used to cover baseball and
I traveled city to city and Saint Louis was always
and this goes back to the old Busch Stadium when
you know, I mean it was it was always just

(01:43:17):
a great place and people knew the game, they respected
the game and loved the game. So I'm with you, Mike.
What a pleasure, buddy, Thanks, brother, appreciate it, man. Yeah,
I always like Saint Saint Louis was always a great
a great baseball city. Uh, Marcel's in Brooklyn, Marcel, what's happening? Hello, Marcel? Oh,

(01:43:44):
good morning, good morning. I'm sorry, I just made it
busy in my mind. Uh. I have some food picks
that coming your way for you. Yeah, where do you got, bro? Yeah?
Udles and Noodles is one of my picks in the
Elite eight instead. But don't laugh. I always listen happen

(01:44:04):
the Ben Mala Show every single time for Monday, Wednesday
and Friday mornings. Also TV picks as well with Robin Vegas.
He's a total heavenly heavenly trust me. I got a buddy. Uh,
I have Gonzaga taking on Yukon tonight and I'll have
that coming your way. That's at what is it eight

(01:44:27):
ba's in the evening on TBS, right, I'm gonna I'm
gonna go Gonzaga about it? You like Zaga? All right, buddy,
what about you? My friend? I like Kidzaga. I do think.
I think Yukon is a is a really really underrated team.
And in fact, going into it, a lot of the
analytics of what Yukon was this year they loved you kind.

(01:44:52):
A lot of the numbers thought U kind would make
a run. But I like this kid Zaga team is
I don't know, I like it. I like I think
they're they're all They're actually underrated. I didn't think they
were as good as they were in the past. But
this the Gonzaga team is good. Oh yes, this is true.
I will I will say everyone's going with Gonzaga. And

(01:45:13):
I heard why Patrick Ewing, Oh no, no, no, don't
say that. I had to say. Gonzaga is the best
team in the parts of the West. But if everyone
here in the East Coast love Gonzaga, everyone's going to
be winning. So Gozack, all right, you got him? My
man's all zagged up, all right, got it? But thank
you Marcell appreciate the brother. He's going, Uh, it's funny

(01:45:37):
the food picks. Everybody has it her, Dude, I had
five slices. You've no idea. I'm stuffing myself. Did you
get did you get Monzi? Oh? MONSI had a slice.
Even Mark indulged. He had two Mark. Mark. Mark wasn't
even gonna have a slice. Then he saw the pizza.
He's like, you know how was it? Mark? Good stuff?

(01:45:59):
Good stuff? Yeah? Yes, this is the cruising the cruise
good now everybody that everybody's feeling good. Listen, I give
you lots of props. Brother, I give you lots of props. Trending,
But that was it? Was it good? Yeah? No, it
was delicious. I was impressed. Four am pizza delivered to

(01:46:20):
the station. Would it was? It had a good It
looked like it was had a good cross, like a
good you gotta burn to it. Yeah, No, it was good.
I like the sauce in it. It was good. I
thoroughly enjoyed it. Will we do this again? Most definitely
is what I think we're all voting on. People are

(01:46:40):
still talking about the march madness that took place on
Friday San Diego State, who took down the number one
overall seed Alabama seventy one to sixty four. This is
what coach Brian Dutcher had to say, and I'm gonna
play it for you because we you kind of were
talking about this. Check this out. There's not a lot
of difference between the best team in the cut Tree
and the worst team in the country, and you're seeing

(01:47:02):
that on the stage. I mean, everybody's good. I mean,
anybody in our conference could have beat us this year.
We had a thousand close games, but we found a
way to win them. And so I guess the difference
between being on the top being on the bottom is
find a way to win a close game. I mean,
it's simple, but it's true. Yeah, it's true, you know,
and I think you hit it right on the money.

(01:47:23):
When you're talking about like experience in age. It's like
South Carolina for the women's tournament, who has not lost
a game all year, but they have a ton of seniors,
a ton of seniors on that team, and so it
just goes to show that the nerves are a little
bit different when you've got freshman sophomores versus juniors and seniors.

(01:47:45):
It's a little bit different. Well, it wasn't just Alabama
that went down. Houston went down. So it's Miami, Crayton,
and Texas along with San Diego State that move on
to the Elite eight. A little NBA news, now, stop
me if you've heard this before, Anthony, the brooklet Nets
have announced that Ben Simmons has a nerving Oh my god.

(01:48:06):
Ben will remain out of action as they determine a
long term plan for treatment. Simmons hasn't played since February
fiftheh what do you know why? He's it's funny and
I know you want to poke fun at it right
right because it's it's for him. I don't know if

(01:48:29):
he's ever going to play. I don't either, and it's
almost like we can obviously we don't know everything, but
it's almost like do you want to play? Do you
even want to play? Listen? I you know, having dealt
with him on a close there's he went off the rails.
He's a sad story and a lot to be honest

(01:48:50):
with you, Ben Simmons a sad story. Well, you concocted
injuries and I don't know whatever, I'll leave it alone. Yeah,
as far as the validity, I don't know. I'm not
a doctor or whatever. I'm outside of Guy's body, but
I will say this, like he's never been the same
since a playoff run two years ago against the Hawks.

(01:49:11):
He was already teetering and going downward. Yeah, and a
lack of conference or whatever it was. Yeah, but man,
he just does not look right at all. And it sucks.
Like you said, it is a sad story. But it's
very psychological with him. It's been psychological from that point
and it's just it's it sucks. But Kevin Durant might

(01:49:33):
return to the court for the Suns. He's stargeting Wednesday's
game against the Timberwolves from his ankle injury. The Kings
did beat the Suns one thirty five to one twenty seven.
So the playoff race in the Western Conference is a
little intense right now. It really is anyone's game. Only
two teams have actually clinched a playoff spot in the
Western Conference, and it's the Nuggets and the Grizzlies, who

(01:49:53):
did it on Friday after they totally dominated the Rockets
one fifty one to one fourteen. A little NFL ne
is the Eagles added a one year in about thirty
three million dollar contract to All Pro right tackle Lane
Johnson's contract, so now he signed through twenty twenty six,
and the Panthers scooped up wide receiver DJ Chark for
a one year contract, and the Lions resigned quarterback Nate Sudfeld.

(01:50:15):
Back to you, Anthony, all right, Monty, thank you. We
are hanging out on a beautiful Saturday. It's the weekend. Man.
We could breathe. Nothing like the weekend. And when it's
upon us, we come you alive from the tire rack
dot com studios. We're talking some baseball and kind of

(01:50:37):
where you guys are at with it. You know, I'm
excited season. It starts Thursday, Opening Day. I want to
go over all the matchups and kind of take a
look at that, and I'm excited. I just I trying
to get a vibe on how everybody's feeling, so kind
of want to go into your town, into your little world,

(01:50:57):
and tell me where you guys are at with baseball.
Is there anticipation are you know, you know, where everything
from kids playing ball to you following Major League baseball.
We're just coming off the World Baseball Classic, which I loved.
Monsey and I were talking about it and Ethan and
we love it. I mean, I just thought it was

(01:51:18):
great theater. Let's go to Bruce and callie. Good morning, Bruce.
What's happening, buddy, Hey budd what's going on? Man? I'm
actually in New York right now? Oh are you talking
to you? Guys were talking about pizza and I had
me hungry, so I had to call in find out
all these good spots. Yeah, you gott you can't go

(01:51:39):
wrong with raise man through at every corner Manhattan Raise Raise.
All right, I'm gonna put that in the GPS here soon. Well,
if you want, i'll give you. I gotta find the
name of it. There's a there's a place in Brooklyn
that's renowned. Uh, that is unbelievable. I'll get it for

(01:52:01):
you in a second. But yeahs you gotta go to Gromaldi.
That's a good one. All right? Where are you staying
at I'm a truck driver. I'm driving. I'm from Cali.
I just drove all the way to New York. I'm

(01:52:22):
delivering some doors. I'm up in Long Island right now.
We're from Brooklyn. You should actually go yeah, yeah, I know,
I'm driving into uh New York. Downtown here pretty soon,
I'm going to New Jersey. Okay, just right across the bridge,
you know, yeah, sure, So any spots in that area

(01:52:47):
would be great. Like I said, I'm in a big truck.
It would be great to just stop by, get a
slice of pizza, Join the crowd. Join what you guys
are doing? Right there? You are? You're so you're going
to your head in the new work. We're part of Jersey.
Uh Tenna fly tenafly and Paramouse. You gotta go to

(01:53:11):
you know what you gotta go to Paramis, right, You're
going to Paramis. You gotta go to Brooklyn, all right,
And I'm gonna give you give me a minute because
the Formadi's is amazing, right, Like, that's that's the best.
But there's a couple other ones. So tell me about baseball.

(01:53:32):
Are you are? You? Are you in? Like? Where where
are you? Where are you feeling? We feeling well? I
mean as far as the World Baseball Classic that, I mean,
everybody's saying Baseball one. I absolutely agree with that because
I mean the excitement that all the games brought was amazing.

(01:53:53):
I mean that the ending of that game couldn't have
been better. I mean shoheio Tani versus is Mike Trout?
Come on? You know, the theater was amazing. It just
was amazing. It was incredible. I mean all the games,
not just take taking that out of part, but just

(01:54:13):
I mean Mexico going out to Puerto Rico, you know,
and just it was amazing. Yeah, I dude, I'm completely
with you. So you gotta find your way to Grimaldi's.
But here's the problem. It's Saturday morning, so you're gonna
have to hit bakries. I don't know if it's open.
I'm gonna find it. I'll look it up for you.

(01:54:34):
Look see if grimaldi is open. I don't think it is.
I think you gotta find a bakery pizza because the
bakery pizzas are open. Let's see here, I just googled it,
all right, buddy, let's it be safe, all right, Brucy,
you gotta pal let's see. Yeah, this won't be open.

(01:54:58):
It's a great spot, but you gotta find a bakery.
There's a lot of great bakeries in like the East Coast,
and that's where you can get the good bakery piazza,
which is actually early because it's quarter to eight am.
Here we gotta take quick toyo. We'll come right back.
We'll continue with your phone calls it as we hang

(01:55:18):
out on this Saturday morning with the fellas. I'm Anthony Gargan,
will call me because we got e as. Our producer
Mancy is on trending doing a great job as we
hang out on Fox Sports Radio. All right, welcome back
fellas on this fine Saturday morning, tournament tournament time, but

(01:55:47):
also baseball. Man, I'm still am not sure how we
feeling today when it comes to where we're at with it.
We're like, what's the vibe that monse, what's the vibe
out there for baseball? Already? Can't wait for Dodgers? Yeah,
I think no, And I think also the Padres, you

(01:56:09):
know every Yeah, I think here in La like that's
the excitement. It's like, what is going to happen with
the Padres and the Dodgers in this division? Obviously, everybody's
excited in the sense of what's gonna happen with Shoheyotani
and mister Trout over with the Angels because you know,
I don't I don't think Dodger fans hate the Angels.

(01:56:30):
They don't. They haven't done anything in a really long time.
So we're like, come on, do something. Go go to
the playoffs with Trout, come on do that. So yeah,
I think there's a lot of excitement. We're getting real ready.
And Doctor Stadium got new grass, like all new grass
because Elton John decided to add another date to his
seventeenth for a while concert because he's probably gonna have

(01:56:50):
an eighteenth for a while. He decided to add another day,
like kind of last minute, and the Dodgers were like, okay,
you can have another day, but you're gonna have to
buy us new grass. And he's like, okay, so we
have brand new grass. Very exciting. Yeah, I mean that
that Padre's lineup is yeah, it's it's on paper. It's ridiculous,

(01:57:11):
it really is. Man, It's just I'm you know, you're
looking at it right now. I mean, you know you
got you know, no by the play croning Worth the first, Kivid,
second manny A third Bogarts. Now it's short Soto and
left Tatis when he coming back stack right, uh, Grishaman

(01:57:32):
center at Matt Hartmander and Nelson Cruz. Well all d h.
I mean you know that's a that's a nasty nasty lineup.
But then you're going at it with Darvish, Musk, Grove, Snell, uh,
you know, even walking Martinez your four to five, you know,
and then you're coming back with Hayter as your closer. Yeah,

(01:57:53):
that great bullpen. I mean, that's ah that team is.
It's just stacked, it is. But as we've seen, being
stacked does not mean the World Series. True true, true true. Hey,
I want to give a yo out. That's my version
of the shout out, and that is a YO to
my man south Side Chuck in Kentucky right now. We

(01:58:18):
hope he's doing well all right because he's listening to
us from the hospital. We want to give him our
best wishes, our man south Side Chuck. But I'll tell you, Monty,
I look at I'm looking at that the Padres, the Dodgers.

(01:58:39):
You know. I'm not sold on the Giants. No, I'm
not either, but they're they're gonna be better than last year.
They will be. Yeah, yeah, they will be. And then, uh,
you know, it's funny because I like the whole match
of League the East is ridiculous because the Braves the
match in my Philly. Now, big loss for the Phillies

(01:59:02):
yesterday because Hoskins right handed bat power bat lost for
the year with an ACL so we'll take more look
at both the tournament and baseball come up next. Fellas
on five two NBA Insiders podcasting twice a week to
plug you right into the NBA great fight, all happening

(01:59:23):

Hearing and Jason. Listen to This League Uncut with Chris
Haynes and Mark Stein on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts

(01:59:43):
or wherever you get your podcasts. All right, good morning,
good morning, good morning, good morning, good morning, good morning,
good morning, every buddy, Happy Saturday morning. Hopefully your weekend's
going well. Where the fellas, I'm Anthony Gargan'll called me
because and we got our crew today. Figgy is off,

(02:00:04):
Monsey is in and you just heard her and with
our trending and Monty and doing a great job. Love
hanging out with Monty this morning, as well as our man,
the Big Ethan, our buddy Ethan Miller, our producer, and
of course our sound engineer, Mark, who was a man

(02:00:26):
of few words, but point, we love our Mark. He's uh,
the guys had pizza today, So I was happy that
to be inspired by our field of sixty four sports
foods Ethan the Big e riled up a rang somehow
wrangled up a pie at four am in La. Yeah.

(02:00:48):
Really coming in clutch on great stuff, all around team effort.
Everybody was part of it. This is this is, this
is what we do. And you're a sport. You paid
for it, I assume, right, Oh yeah, I mean you
gotta hook up the team here. You know, Monts came in.
You know, she's filling big shoes here for k fix.
She needs some pizza, you know, March working hard at

(02:01:08):
the board. You know, dude, you're a good that's the
mark of a good leader. I know. You gotta give
the people good things so they perform. Well, you know,
it's it's just it's just common sense, you know. Because
I'm proud of you, brother, I really yeah. Listen, that's strong.
That's a strong move by you. That not only but
the most impressive thing is that you were able to

(02:01:30):
find a pizza joint open at four a m. Yeah. Yeah,
it's it's called Milan's pizza. That's all right, pizza pizzada
to it. It's got a Listen. The pizzaia is a
big deal. Yeah, it's a pizzaia, not a place like

(02:01:51):
a pizza place or a pizza shop. When you go
to pizza at Eya, it's a big deal. It's that's
usually a good sign. Yeah, it mess around. So Milans
knows what they're doing. Anybody's in a Los Angeles area,
hit them up. I like it. I like it, all right.

(02:02:12):
All right, so we got we were talking a lot
about baseball because the opening day is Thursday, right, we
talked about the tourn them in an opening day is Thursday.
I kind of want to go through the pitching matchups
for Thursday with you. Uh, let's look at and I'm curious,

(02:02:34):
are you uh like, well you were you looking at Monsey?
Will you look at like a holiday? Yeah, I mean
not really because I'll be working. I'm gonna start working
here and then i'm gonna run over there and work there,
and then i'm gonna come back here the next day
and run back over there. So it's gonna be a holiday,
but I'll yeah, I'll be there. Oh that's awesome. Yeah,
I'm gonna be there. That's one of the great ballparks

(02:02:58):
people have. Like, if you like baseball, Dodger Stadium, is
it is it must see? Oh yeah, it's one of
my favorite of course, third oldest largest. Come on, yeah,
it's awesome. And you gotta get the Dodger dog. You
like the Dodge dog. Sure, I don't eat meat, but
the veggie dog is just as good. Yeah, sure, the
impossible dog. I don't even know what it was. Is

(02:03:20):
there an impossible dog? Dodger dogs? There is a veggie
Dodger dog, but it's not impossible, baby. But you're right,
the Dodger dog, there's some in it. There's some in
it because it's delish. I don't know. You know what's funny,
You're I don't know what it is. It's the air
it takes. It is it's a freaking I'm not even
that like that big of a hot dog man, right,

(02:03:41):
like I take him, relieve it like whatever, Like I
might have two three hot dogs a year, right, like,
I'm not seeking them out right, But I gotta tell
you that Dodger dog is something else. It's like there's
a couple like we were talking about food, and sports
food if you go baseball food, like the Dodger dog

(02:04:03):
is ridiculous, the fish tacos in San Diego are ridiculous,
and the sausage sandwiches that you wouldn't eat it Monty
because of the meat at Fenway Park. Outside Fenway Park,
they have sausage sandwiches that are ridiculous outside of the park. Yeah,

(02:04:28):
like you get like you have him in the park,
but you get the ones outside are just like in
the carts are like ridiculous. Did you ever have one
of those? Oh yeah, you are sausage man, big sausage guy, sausage.
I never liked it. No, yeah, no, it's It's like

(02:04:51):
a hot Italian sausage with onions of peppers on a
big roll. It's a delicious item. I have to say.
If you're talking about ballpark foods and they do it,
it's a good one, all right. So here's your pitching
matchups for the best ones on Thursday. So Mets in
Marlin's Scherzer Alcantara. So you got the two defending Cy

(02:05:16):
Young Award winners. Sharzer al Qatar is a great one.
Who do you liking in that game? I mean, I'm
gonna go. Nay, he is nasty, but you know, I
don't know if it's the fact that he's got two
different colored eyes. I'm gonna go with Shuser. I don't know.
He mesmerizes me. You know what I'm saying. No, No,

(02:05:38):
I got you. Yeah. Uh Giants and Yankees' yes Web
against Garrett Cole. Yeah, it's pretty nasty. Yes. Um, I'm
gonna go with Garret Cole. You gotta call. Yeah, it's funny.
He looked a little h a little mortal at times

(02:06:02):
last Yeah. I mean listen when he's on, he's unhitable,
but he had some yeah, you know. Um. Phillies Rangers
Jake the Gram makes his debut for Texas, and it's
gonna be interesting because, you know, in that ballpark in
the air condition, he's gonna be tough because the ball

(02:06:25):
just dies out there. So that would be pretty interesting.
But so Aaron Nola, who will start a sixth straight
opening day for the Phillies, goes up against the Gram.
You know, it's funny. Nole's good. I actually think Wheeler
is probably their best picture. But Nola has been the
opening day star for six in a row, so he

(02:06:46):
gets to nine for the Phillies and the the Graminator
for Texas. I mean, you got, I got, Here's I'm
taking Phillies to win. Yeah, I don't. I don't. I
don't know what Texas is doing unless they're tweets something
that I behind the scenes. But to me, I don't.
I don't know what Texas is doing. So, I mean, listen,

(02:07:10):
I like what they did in the all season. I
don't know if it was enough. They weren't. They were
not good. No, but listen, I mean I think they
I think they're better. Yeah, I mean a lot better. Actually,
I mean so if you look at uh, well Seeger

(02:07:31):
right from last year? Yeah back yeah, um, so if
you look at what they got Low at first, he's
a leftyak and got a little power, uh semi and
you know who's you know, been around forever. He's got
a lot of pop at second base. Jung just Jung
who came on to see last year. He's a phenom young,

(02:07:53):
he's got some power. Third, Seeger who they stole from
you Moncy. Yeah, and they go Grossman. I might love
the Afield a lot. I do like Garcia and Brad Miller.
So I mean, you're gonna rely a lot on your pitching. Yes,
with the gram Evaldi, Martin Perez. I mean it's a

(02:08:14):
pretty good staff. Back in the rotation has got to
do better, but it's pretty good staff. I don't believe it.
I'll believe it when I see it. I like it.
I like your your skepticism. All right. Um. Then you
got Angels at A's excuse me, the Guardians at the Mariners,

(02:08:36):
Shane Bieber, who we talked about earlier against Luis Castillo.
Bieber's ridiculous, man, Yeah, that one's that one's a tough one. Yeah,
but Castillo is good too. I mean Bieber Bieber is Yeah. Hi,
I don't that one. I'm not. I'm not. I don't
know one. Who are you edging words? I like? I

(02:09:02):
like the Guardians Guardians. I'm a Bieber guy. I think
Bieber's nasty. He is he is, Channel's good is good. Yeah,
I'm a big in that matchup. And then you got Oakland,
excuse me, got the Angels and the A's Otani it's
going up against Muller. What are you hearing you're out there,
what are you hearing about the Angels? I mean the

(02:09:26):
only thing really happening here, when it comes to the Angels,
it's what's going to happen? Was Shohio Tani. Yeah that's
really I know that they've made some moves, but nobody's
really talking about anything besides sho I know. Yeah again,
I mean that rotation be after him. It's just bad
j Anderson sound of all uh redebt mers. I mean

(02:09:54):
he's a lineup, right, like you know, Crys some guys
I like, right right, Other than try we see trattan Otani.
You know, we'll see can Hunter Renfro give you something more?
Rendon has been a huge disappointment. See if he stays healthy.
Drawers another guy who's got a lot of pop potential,
but he's got to stay healthy. Yeah. I like Walsh

(02:10:15):
at first because he's got some power. But you know,
I mean all the Angels do is under achieve. Yes, yes,
because it's like I'm looking. You know, they got Tyler
Anderson this year, who was really good for the Dodgers
and what he did, like that might help them, and
I liked last year. I thought Taylor Ward had had
some really good games for them. So it's like you

(02:10:38):
should not be this bad. Yeah, yeah, now you get
your Dodgers facing Zach Allen and I know you how
much you love Julio your eye as somebody, Yes, give
me again. The proper pronunciation is uh huh, yes, like

(02:11:02):
he's nasty heat. Yeah, yeah, awesome, White Sox Astros Dylan
Cease against Framber Valdez. Framber Valdez is ridiculous. Yeah, he
is really really good. Uh. Burns is going for Milwaukee
against Marcus Stroman and the Cubs. The Rockies go Marquez

(02:11:23):
against the Blake Snell of the Padres. Uh. And you
know Blake Stell's nasty, especially early on. Yes, when he
has uh, when he's out, when he is able to
get control, have a lot of command. Uh. Manolah for
the Blue Jays against Miles Micholas. Manoah's very good. Uh.

(02:11:44):
Twins and Royals, Pablo Lopez, who's who's actually decent against
Zach Rinky, Max Free for the Braves against Patrick Corby,
who's a gas can for the Nationals. Kyle Gibson against
Corey Kluber Stink versus and Parto Rodriguez and Shane McClanahan.

(02:12:05):
You're going for the raise Tigers raise. Huh. Mcclanahan's always
had good stuff. I mean, race kids, pictures, pirates, go
Mitch Keller, redsk Hunter Green and that's your your starters.
We're opening day, which should be a party this week.
All day's right day, All right, We're gonna take a

(02:12:28):
quick t o we'll come back. We'll take a look
at the sports world from a betting standpoint, so we'll
get into all of your tournament games. We'll get into
a little MLB preview with the big Brain likes our
betting analysts, Brad Feinberg will join us next where the

(02:12:48):
fellas right here on Fox Sports Radio. All right, welcome back,
fellas live from the time IRAQ dot com studios. Now
after the Whirlwind tour, my main man has been around.

(02:13:10):
You know, We've caught up with him in the mountains
of Aspen, Colorado, the beaches of Turks and Caicos. He's
been all over the old globe of globe, trotting the
sporting events, you know, all kinds of things, and then
most recently a Disney cruise. He is, of course, the

(02:13:32):
big brain on Brad our betting analysts, Brad Feinberg. Bradley,
good morning, my friend. Right now, Actually there we go, dude,
you're in New Orleans. It's one of my favorite cities.
Really cool, it's funny, ill only the second time. I've
been definitely a lot more things here to do than

(02:13:54):
I was expecting. I've had a good time. I really have,
and afy. I was so close to a perfect a
college sweet sixteen and everything right, and only when I
lost was actually my favorite game was Creighton Princeton had
Princeton getting ten and a half. They lose play eleven,
but everything else went great, So I really can't really complain,

(02:14:15):
I guess, but I wanted to never won very close,
just not quite there. Yeah, I was thinking of you
because we both were all we both kind of liked
the save games. Yeah, they all won. Yeah, you know
it was interesting because you know my local show, I

(02:14:36):
gave out a bunch of games and they were like, hey,
thanks because I liked FAU outright and they wanted the game.
And you and I both were all over that our
Thursday games we liked a lot, and then we liked
Texas last night too. You texted me and when we
want to talk about the games, um, noble was starting
name right now, that's okay, Texas is playing Miami, and

(02:15:00):
that's my favorite game of the Elite eighth Texas. You
can leave four right now, it's four four and after
when you just shot to shop it, but you can
get four. Um, this is a game. Actually, I do
think Texas is in a different class in Miami. I
really do, UM, and I think Lyn four here. I
thought Houston was a really good team, but I thought

(02:15:23):
they were susceptible and I liked Miami. I thought Miami
a chance to win the game. I thought he stated
a chance to win the game. I would be very
surprised if Miami wins this game. Like, I actually think
Texas was better than Houston. And now we're we're laying
three and a half last points. Think about that. So
to me, Um, again, I just think this is a

(02:15:43):
good I think from a talent perspective, the way the
teams are playing. Um. And I look, I told him
on your show earlier, like you first forward or rewind
m a few months ago. You asked me for a
long shot pick and I sent in Miami and they
were a team like where they Yeah, I said it
a few times on your show, Miami and they and

(02:16:05):
they look they've got here to the final late Elite eight.
I give them credit, and they're a good team, but
I just think Texas, Um, I Texas playing a lot better.
I think they have a lot more talent. I think
they're just a tougher team. Um. And even though I
do respect Miami, I get my number. I made this
line six, um and so like, to me, that was
pretty significantly off what he came in at. UM. I

(02:16:27):
like the Longhorns. So I think Texas has a good
chance to you know, I think dem and you Connor
the two teams with the best champs, they're winning the tournament. Well,
let's look at it. Let's look at the games today
six o'clock Eastern, three o'clock Pacific. The darlings of the tournament.
And I love that Marquise noel Man. He's so much
fun to watch five foot eight, and they like he's awesome.

(02:16:52):
He's just great and all the time. Yeah, what's that?
What'd you say? I'm sorry, mister, he looked like Isaiah Thomas.
Do you mind Isaiah Thomas, like not be not the
one of the pistons, but like he's little, like remember
Isaiah Thomas, one of us on the solids. Yeah, it's
just something about he reminds me of him. But yeah,
well you know it's funny. He's real dynamic. He's got
a lot of flash to his game, and you know

(02:17:13):
he's a he's a lot of fun. Man. He's just
you know, he's all hard than the best player in
the tournament. Yes, he really has. So this is interesting
because k stay up against FAU and I gotta tell you,
I like Florida Atlantic again. I think that they're going
to win the game. I think that, and I love
that kid. And again I love no I love the

(02:17:35):
heart of Kansas State. I think Florid Atlantic is better.
I think they're uh, they just are deeper. Numbers may
decide Florid Atlantic at one point favorite. Okay, So to me,
there's two ways to attack this game. You could either
take them plus two, no problem with that. You're taken
with the money line, maybe you can you can get
certainly at least one fifteen. Mayble to get around plus

(02:17:56):
one twenty. To me, I I'm fine doing that either way,
either taking the we're getting one twenty money line. Again,
I think I have the wrong team favorite here. I
do um. I hit Florida Atlantic being a slight flight,
slight favorite. Again, I think this game will be very close.
Um it's not. I think the game is crazy off.
But um yeah, I think Florid Atlantic in my numbers,

(02:18:17):
should be the slight favorite here. I do think they'll
win this game. Claus family, let's just be honest with
the With the ankle injury, sometimes those things you get
through it that night and you're fine. You just the
adrenaline's there and you and then like a day or
two later, it really swells off and you're just you're like, oh, shoot,
like I'm really struggling and you just can't fight through it.

(02:18:37):
I'm not saying that's going to happen, but I'm saying
I'm getting a free look at that. I'm getting a
free shot that maybe maybe that's happening to him and
we just will never know. That's not putting the number.
This is putting the number like he's one hundred percent
and maybe he is, and I'm playing it like he's
one hundred percent healthy. But I'm saying we're getting a
free shot that he's not. I agree. I think you're
spot on, man Id. It's funny that stood out in

(02:18:58):
kneon Tommy and we've been riding FAU. I think FAU
was going to the final four, the game of the weekend,
and I they stink this game is going to be incredible.
Yukon Gonzaga, Yukon two and a half point favored over
the Zags. Yukon and you you said this to me, Roza,

(02:19:20):
I like Yukon. You go, well, uh, they are the
analytic darling of the tournament. The numbers really favored Yukon
to to get a deep showing. Yeah, Yukon from a
betting standpoint, from all the follow pro betters, they were
the team all year, by the way, not just this
tournament that has stood out as a team that people
have backed and liked as much as any team in

(02:19:41):
college basketball. And if you watched them, they passed the
eye test. They had all the players, can defend, they
do everything well. Now Gonzaga, you know we talked with
Anthy's kind of snuck under the radar. For a typical
Gonzaga team, usually yield, they're always you did this year.
They are preseason I think number two after North Carolina,
and they got off to the slow start, but they've

(02:20:02):
really played well as of late. Look, my numbers made
this two and a half and anything. When I talked
about the UCLA game last week with you against Gonzaga.
I saw Gonzaga to win, but I thought it was
really you know, right within the number, no, no true edge.
I'm trying to give you the same anager from this game.
I think Yukon's going to win, but I members made

(02:20:23):
it two and a half. But I do think Yukon
will win the game. I like the way they're playing. Um,
I think that they're right now playing better than any
team in the tournament. So I'm gonna lean that way.
But again, not a game I'm gonna personally wage run
because again rate team right in my power numbers are
playing it, and Gonzaga is playing well, and that guy
we was taken play Ucla every game. It seems like
every time they played in the tournament. Wow, they're the

(02:20:43):
best game the entire tournament every year. So that was
an amazing ending and they almost had an epic loss
but ended up being an incredible comeback wins on that
last shot by its strawthor from like thirty five feet. Yeah. Yeah,
Like you know, it's funny because I look at this
game the same way like I, if you ask me,
I kind of like Yukon, but I mean would I mean,

(02:21:06):
I think Gonzaga. Yeah. It's funny because I initially like Yukon.
I've been wavering and then I went back to Gonzaga.
I see where you're coming from with Yukon. I got
a weird vibe with the Zags, though I don't know
what it is. And so to your point, yeah, like
to me, this is a stay away or you know

(02:21:28):
in game piece where you're looking at it. But I
think this goes down with the wire. I'll take Gonzaga
just because I just have a it's just more of
a hunch about them, I do. I hear you. And
as how you said, Anthony said, think in game, which
I recommend everyone listening is in game. You know. Now
we're in a word where you don't have to bet
before the game. Watch the game, see if they have

(02:21:48):
a matchup, flook, see how things are looking to you,
and you can trust your own eyes. That's what most
of my bets for me that way quite frankly, um,
but in a game like this, again, this is not
a game i' be betting pre flop pre flop before that,
you know, before the game starts. But you know, my
lean here would be the favorite Yukon, and I think
Yukon is the most likely winner of the national championship
at this point. Wow. Yeah, interesting, So they're the favorite, right, yeah, yeah,

(02:22:15):
they're the favorite? Yes, all right? Said they are? The
two games today tomorrow we talked about Texas in Miami.
And the other one is, of course the six five
seed Creighton san Diego State. Creton is a one and
a half point favorite. I like, uh, I kind of
like San Diego State. I think San Diego State gets

(02:22:37):
no love and that they're actually a good veteran team
to any um. I spoke to a friend of mine
who's a high school basketball coach who happened to say,
since some of his kids to San Diego State, so
I knew the program well and I followed it, and
I asked him before the season sort I said, thinking
of making a pretty big bet on San Diego State

(02:22:57):
to a national championship on my nuts. And he goes, no,
he goes, I think they have a real chance. He goes,
they're really really good defensively and they're gonna they're gonna
be good. And they were actually my biggest preseason beat.
I have them. I think it's eighty or ninety to
one on San Diego States. So I kind of didn't
think they had any chances. Most of the year of
making Alaudia wasn't like something I did. But now that

(02:23:19):
they're here in the Elite eight, Um, you know, I
have a chance of maybe getting pretty fortunate here. They
look I Creighton's an arch team I did like before
the year. Again, the team that was good last year
brought back all their big pieces. Um, the good team again.
My numbers again, this remains me. If the Kansas State
game a little bit my numbers meet San Diego State
on one again, we can take we can take two

(02:23:42):
points here. So it's again to me, it's the same
exact game as the Florida Atlantic game. To me, I
think these games are pretty close to even. But you
know what, you want to give me a dollar twenty
with the money line with a team that I think
is every bit is good, sure, I'll do. You want
to flip a coin heads their tails, he would give
me a plus a dollar twenty. I'll take the plus
a dour twenty. Slight lean here in San Diego State,

(02:24:04):
But it's just that a slight, slight, slight lean again,
I think the line should be closer to pick them
or even Synego State being a point favorite. So anything
with the dog here, to me, I can't argue with. Yeah,
I kind of feel the same way because only because
of the reason why I like Sanego State, only because
of the veteran nature of them, like when you got

(02:24:25):
used the seniors. I just think that's a big deal, man,
I really do. But Creton has a veteran team too, though.
I think that's definitely like both those teams. That's why
I think it's a good matchup. Both those teams to me,
have a lot of similarities to them. Agreement was San
Diego State. I think it was ninety to one before
the year. Creton was more like twenty five for one.
So again I'm taking the team that's four times oots higher.

(02:24:48):
But I actually thought power rating wise they were pretty
close before the year. But it should be a good game.
Look it should be you look at it now. I
think that the Look the two teams that were favored,
I think are the two teams. It should be or
Texas and you can I had a pick one team
to wait the tournament, it would be Texas, and I
say that because the Yukon Gonzaga game, I don't know
who's gonna win that game, and I do feel more

(02:25:09):
confident that Texas will win against Miami and if Texas
is if they play you know, Yukon or Gonzaga. I
think it's a fifty fifty kind of game. So everyone's
looking for a future out there, you know, lad eight
to pick a team around four to one odds, I
think Texas would be the best bet. Yeah, yeah, I
like that. Till me favorite big brain sit tight because

(02:25:33):
I want to talk a little pre little futures baseball
with you. Baseball starting first, Mazzi hit us with some trending,
would you well? People are talking about March madness because
if your Brackett wasn't busted, I'm sure it's busted. Now.
There is no way that anyone is happy with their

(02:25:55):
bracket because the last two number one seeds have officially
been a limited from the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament, so
no number one seed will reach the Elite eight on Friday. Texas, Craton, Miami,
and San Diego State are the ones advancing to the
Elite eight. In the NBA, it's the Grizzlies who punched
their ticket to the playoff officially in the Western Conference.

(02:26:18):
The Western Conference I mentioned to you was messy between
I'm gonna tell you right now, between the seventh and
the twelfth spot in the Western Conference, they are separated
by a game and a half. Wow, it's a messy, messy, messy.
But the Grizzlies don't have to worry about it. They're
officially in the playoffs. They punked the Rockets one fourteen.

(02:26:41):
The Celtics also won on Friday, so did the Raptors
and the Wizards. The Lakers managed to win again without
Lebron James. They're actually eight and five since losing Lebron.
They beat the thunder one sixteen to one eleven. The
Kings took down the Suns. But good news for the
Suns because maybe Kevin Durant we'll be back on the
court for their game on Wednesday against the Timberwolves. There
are also victories for the Bulls, the Bucks, who dominated

(02:27:02):
the Jazz. The Hornets handed the Mavericks another loss, even
though both Kyrie Irving and Luca Donche played. Dante has
had thirty four points, ten rebounds, and eight assists. He
was also find thirty five thousand dollars for making that
money gesture towards the refs on Wednesday when they lost
to the Warriors. Who the Warriors beat your seventy six ers,
not yours? Well, yeah, yours seventy six ers. Sorry, anything
Philly is yours. It's yours, just like I tell you Ethan,

(02:27:24):
anything Philly is your. Guys, they are they are Celtics.
One that doesn't help, I know, yeah, it really really does.
But they they beat the seventy sixers. But it's all right,
it's all right. Still still a couple of games left,
and it was the Bulls who cruised past the Blazers

(02:27:44):
one twenty four to ninety six. Back to you, oh,
thank you, mind appreciate it. Got our man, the big
brain on Brad Brad Feinberger, betting analysts. Yeah, that kills
the sixers for the two seed. Brad. Yeah, we talked
about that NFB that lost the Bulls a few days earlier. Yeah,

(02:28:06):
to me was the real dagger there because we knew it.
The schedule was, you know, Boston, that an easy schedule.
Photopia is the hardest schedule in the NBA, not just
head to head, an entire NBA. So it was gonna
extremely tough photofi to get there, and you know now
it's just, you know, not gonna happen. You know that. Yeah,

(02:28:27):
I do, Body, I do, I do? I do. All right,
let's look baseball, because I did a lot of baseball
this morning. Opening Day is Thursday. And you, my friend,
are a scene head like myself. You love baseball, and
I do. I love that about you. So let's let's
discuss this first. Um, give me something because you do

(02:28:51):
a lot of the preseason awards and a lot of
future stuff. What kind of tickets do you have when
it comes to baseball? Well, a lot of the stuff, Anthony. Again,
the numbers again, I did this stuff literally months and
months ago to a lot of things I may be
talking about unfortunately or gone, which isn't going to help

(02:29:11):
any of your listeners. But I will tell you I
did make a bet on and you can still get
pretty good odds on him. I got I think fifty
to one, and you can still find twenty five to
one long shot bet. But I don't think it's impossible.
The fastest player in baseball? Do you know who it is? Now?

(02:29:33):
Corbin Carroll Dirs on Diamondbacks, A lot of people don't
know much about him. They'll stayed about one hundred of bats. Okay,
last year, he is the fastest player in the sport.
He stole over the fifty basis in the minors. They
gave him one hundred and eleven million dollar contract. He's
going to play, He's going to play every day, and
he's super fast. You know, at fifty to one, I

(02:29:55):
kind of thought it was no brainer de lete league
and steels. Even at twenty five to one, I think
there's some value there empty because I think he's the
kind of guy they could hit three hundred potentially. I
know that's a big gass for a rookie, but again,
all you gotta do, all he's gotta do is get
the bat on the ball. And he is a blazer,

(02:30:17):
so he'll be and he'll he'll get he'll get the first.
So I agree with you. I think the new rules,
he'll be a monster. That's going to benefit stolen bases
in general for sure. Yeah, and I'll give a little
couple of things to everyone out there. I do think
there'll be more running sport this year. You know that
maybe the books aren't quite as catching up all because
things like the shifts, the base running thing that you

(02:30:40):
just mentioned, Anthony, So maybe for the first two to
three weeks of the year, maybe just I would lean
over um, just because I think inherently thinking maybe the
totals are gonna be a little bit maybe lower than
they should be based on the fact that the new
rule changes, and for everyone out there, for all these
player props, because there's a million of them in every site,
and it's interesting, some of the sites are biased much

(02:31:00):
more to its higher numbers and others. So I would
this is what I did. The sites that are most
biased towards the higher numbers, I unloaded on a bunch
of unders, especially for the pitchers in Major League Baseball,
because Anthony, again you talked about it. For all the
football props I do too. Injuries happen, and they're when
you're betting Aaron Nola strikeouts two twelve and a half,

(02:31:23):
they're banking on him pitching thirty plus starts. He may
I'm not saying he won't, but if he does, you're
in a fifty fifty bet. But if he missed his
six starts with you know, a balky elbow or whatever
it may be, then you're just gonna win that bet.
So to me, I feel very comfortable saying if you
just blindly that a lot of these unders and you

(02:31:46):
don't mind fronting your money for the next six months,
I think you can win conservatively, you know, sixty two
to sixty six percent of your bets. Yeah. Yeah, No,
I mean, and you mentioned some off the key, which is,
you know, when it comes to pictures and it comes
to you know, unders, arm issues, all that stuff is real.

(02:32:08):
And not only that, you know, teams are listen, they're
very conservative with their guys anymore, so they're gonna make
sure that they're not taking chances. So that just lends
a lot to the under Yeah. Look and yeah, seven
innings has become the new nine innings, right, I mean,
it's just in terms of throwing for a picture, um,

(02:32:29):
and that look, if I'll say this look more, it
may not be my cup of tea. There's a lot
of data of me shilling your third way through the lineup.
Your your effectiveness goes down. So as much as I
may want to fight it, uh and it may annoy me, Um,
I can I can at least say, Okay, I get
what you're saying. Um, But absolutely like I would look
at again a lot of these unders, especially for the pictures,

(02:32:50):
and again check each site. I'm not gonna say the sights,
but you could look do it yourself. Um, certain sights
you'll see, you know, Old Runner from Arinola at two
o two and you'll see the Reslates at two twelve
and a half and you know if you shop that again.
Just inherently speaking, these unders are going to do well
because a lot of these pictures are going to miss
at least two three, four pen heck, twenty starts who knows. Um,

(02:33:14):
So it's just a good beck because are of factoring
in that there's gonna be no injuries. Yeah, now that's
a that's a great point. How about just curious who
you like and you know, you know as far as
the divisions are concern and yeah, you know kind of
who you're who you're looking at when it comes that
some of the teams that you would keep an eye
out everybody. We went over the Padres lineup and how

(02:33:35):
great day lock and you know obviously the Phillies took
a big hit yesterday with Reese. Yeah they did, you know,
they did well. The Potters thought that was the ending
example Anthony. The Padres opened. The Padres opened at plus
I think I got word to one on the potteries
two in the division. They're now plus one twenty. Okay,

(02:33:56):
I took four to one on the open. Again, you
have to be quickly those things, like I knew the
Dodgers were going to be not as good, and like
the Dodgers will run rope now ninety four and a half,
ninety five and a half, those kind of things. But
looking today's numbers, that's only terrollment helping your listeners. Um,
look Tampa Bay as a team now again. Unfortunately, Tyler Glassbolt,

(02:34:17):
why he's an extremely important player for them, has a
greeneral bleak injury. He may missed the first month. Um,
I'm not as high on Toronto as others are, and
I'm not as high on the Yankees as other are.
You can find Tampa Bay around four to one to
win the division. I actually, great, that's a great play.
We only got like a like thirty seconds left. U

(02:34:39):
anything in the other national league, National league? No, I
mean that's probably now more so than the current numbers.
He americally got a legal long shot. I'll give you
Texas Rangers. You can get them sixty to one to
win the World Series, twelve to won to win the Division.
I like what they did with the Eovaldi and the
grom long shot. Again not expect but I think they're

(02:35:00):
gonna be decent if they're healthy. I like it. Big brain,
great stuff. Enjoyed New Orleans. Get the chickory coffee. Do
you like coffee? Not a coffee by the Bayers are
the Poe Boys are fantastic. Enjoy it, my brother. It's
a great time. Go to the Garden District and uh,
enjoy your Saturday morning. It's a beautiful place. Love New Orleans.

(02:35:24):
Worth all right, thanks, my brother, appreciate it. Be safe,
safe travels here. He is the big Brain on brad

(02:35:48):

the day, and it's from the tournament San Diego. Stay
take a listen. Butler bounce pass up top to Ladie
Ladi between his legs with his dribble, spins to the
basket one handed, jam b buff Cloudy right to the floor.

(02:36:11):
Nothing was called. Yeah, that was a big moment. San
Diego State, the veteran San Diego State team off juniors
and seniors and h they were they were the right team.
They look, they got down nine and they did not fret.
There was no unraveling and they go on to win.

(02:36:32):

the tournament today with the two big games tonight at

(02:36:59):
six o nine, Florida Atlantic and Kansas State to battle
the darlings, and we were talking about it with the
Big Brain. I love Florida Atlantic tonight. I just think
they're the better team. And again I'm a k State,
you know. I love the no I love the way
that kid plays, and I root for them. But I
just said, I'm looking at it and I think Florida

(02:37:20):
Atlantic it's still under the radar. I still think they're good.
I think they're gonna win the game outright, And there
were two point dog I think they advanced Yukon Gonzaga.
I just go, I want to watch it. I want
to watch it, and I'm I know there's a lot
of the sharp guys love Yukon. I look at this

(02:37:43):
game and I'm just I just want to watch it.
I think it's a great just great basketball, and it's
you know, West versus East Gonzaga Ukon. Man, that's a
great It's just it's a great theater four three. That's
the best game of the tour. But I think of
the Elite eight. And then tomorrow Creton san Diego State,

(02:38:04):
Creton's one and that point favorite over San Diego State. Again,
I like San Diego State in that game. I still
think that they're on the rated team. And Miami Texas.
I love Texas in this one and I've been saying it.
I think Texas is just playing really good ball. I
think they're the way they just completely dominated last night.

(02:38:27):
I mean, you know that game was over early. They're
they're playing great basketball right now. And I listen, I
respect Miami a ton it to good acc plucky school,
but man, you know, while Texas playing on another level.
So I'm gonna go Longhorns in that one. That's your
Elite eight and then you know what, well the Final

(02:38:49):
four next weekend, we got baseball and we're gonna turn
our attention to the giraft lots to do. Manti great
