Speaker 1 (00:00):

Speaker 2 (00:04):
Oh that is aws good evening, everybody, were broadcasting live
from the Fox Sports Radio studios.

Speaker 3 (00:11):
You heard the man Arnie.

Speaker 2 (00:13):
Spanier and Aaron Torres in far Buddy Chris climb right
here on Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 4 (00:21):
How you doing tonight, Torreg. So here's a big question.

Speaker 5 (00:24):
Do you get the applause on a normal Sunday or
do you just get Ryan tomatoes thrown at you and
booze across the board?

Speaker 4 (00:30):
No, I usually get the applause. You and Plank get
the bulls and the tomatoes.

Speaker 6 (00:35):
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (00:35):
All right, congratulations, welcome to the big time, the coveted
Sunday night over night slot here on Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 3 (00:42):
So let's be congratulated.

Speaker 4 (00:43):
You know, it's it's amazing.

Speaker 5 (00:44):
You know, when I was just a young lad talking
into the mic in my house back in Connecticut as
a child, said, man, if this could just lead me
to eleven pm Eastern on Sunday with Arnie Spanier, anything
else after that is just great. So it's such a
pleasure to be here and all seriousness. You know, by
the way you quit on me so long ago. I

(01:07):
know half the staff doesn't even know that we did
shows together.

Speaker 4 (01:10):
I know it's been a long time, hasn't it.

Speaker 5 (01:12):
I think the last time I filled in with you,
I just opened with four jokes about you being old too,
about you being out of shape, and Mary Mack was like,
you're so mean to him. Why would you say that.
I'm like a man, already go back. We're good. So
how are you? But by the way, I know we
got a lot of sports to catch up on. But
I saw your your son is engaged, So congratulations, Thank.

Speaker 3 (01:32):
You very much.

Speaker 2 (01:33):
I appreciate that. I'm gonna have to start saving money
for stuff.

Speaker 7 (01:35):
You know, that's sure.

Speaker 4 (01:37):
Yeah, a Saturday show, but that's okay, neither here nor there.

Speaker 2 (01:40):
Yeah, it's gonna cost me an arm and a leg,
no doubt about that. So yeah, it's uh, it's gonna
be quite expensive. I'll have to figure that. And it's
coming up on your anniversary next week. You and I
are gonna be filling in Friday, July fourth, that's when
you started with Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 5 (01:55):
Correct, look at you. Wow, somebody must have tipped you
off there. Yeah. July fourth, twenty seventeen, I filled in
for Jason Smith with Mike Harmon. The big topic of
the day that day was Gordon Hayward leaving the Utah
Jazz for the Boston Celtics.

Speaker 4 (02:14):
It was all the raids at night.

Speaker 5 (02:16):
By the way, the second most important anniversary, my wedding
anniversary is a day later, but July fourth is the
Fox Sports Radio anniversary of the one that I really celebrate.
And so yes, you and I will be in for
Jason and Mike, and I'm looking forward to it.

Speaker 2 (02:28):
Don't ever say I didn't try to do anything for you.
I put out the bat signal. I contacted not one,
not two, but three or four of our producers, OK,
and I said, can you get me the show from
July fourth, twenty seventeen with Torres.

Speaker 4 (02:45):
It did, actually, and each one of them said, we're
too busy to look at up.

Speaker 7 (02:51):
Like this wasn't thirty seconds before the show.

Speaker 2 (02:54):
We're We're like, oh, we did. We can't figure it out.
We don't know how to do something like that. I
possible eight years ago. I'm like, oh, I'm like, kids,
it can't be impossible. We find bs on people one
hundred years ago, and you're telling me from eight years ago,
I can't get a you didn't happen the Savior Show.

Speaker 5 (03:13):
Did you by any chance someone found you on the
Newlywed Game from like nineteen fifty eight.

Speaker 4 (03:18):
I know, I know it's got to be possible.

Speaker 2 (03:20):
I'm a on YouTube, gotta be somewhere on what's your
wife's favorite restaurant?

Speaker 3 (03:26):
My favorite?

Speaker 4 (03:27):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (03:27):
Favorite? Rest of that?

Speaker 4 (03:28):
I just said, Pete said, but we won anyway, What do.

Speaker 3 (03:30):
You have to trudge dout up?

Speaker 2 (03:32):
So I tried to do that for you, but of
course our trusted producers won't do anything to help me out.

Speaker 5 (03:38):
Well, I was Sam, you know, me and him were
hanging in Vegas. I was, it looks like he hasn't
left Vegas. So that's why why I showered today.

Speaker 4 (03:46):
No, you look like it's in that Vegas mode. No
to shove. You went to Vegas too. You were at
the party two with the boys.

Speaker 5 (03:53):
So I happen to be in Vegas independent of that,
and I did roll through the Cavino and Rich party
for about two minutes.

Speaker 4 (04:00):
Yeah, what are you? Arnieboded me.

Speaker 5 (04:03):
So I always talk about your your frat buddy kelch
and Uh and Burrito and all them. You guys get
together once a year, and I thought you go to Vegas.

Speaker 2 (04:13):
By the way, doesn't Cavino look like Ronaldo? Come on,
does he not.

Speaker 4 (04:17):
Know Arnie were talking about this? No, he doesn't. He
looks like Mario Lopez. No, no, Ronaldo has got more
of a baby face. I don't. I don't see much
of a similarity there.

Speaker 2 (04:25):
I see the similarity to a Ronaldo. Ronaldo is a
good looking guy, but I see them looking. Don't you
think so does or what?

Speaker 4 (04:32):
I can't say that. Oh wow, I can't say.

Speaker 2 (04:36):
All right, you have to tell me how Vegas was.
You have to tell me how the party was. A
plank is out. I gave him the night off every year.
I give him one day off.

Speaker 4 (04:44):
Last, last last thing.

Speaker 2 (04:45):
I feel him for you when you were in Bermuda
or wherever I was in Costa Rica.

Speaker 3 (04:50):
Oh okay, yes, thank you, thank you.

Speaker 5 (04:52):
Chris Blank openly admitted I don't like taking vacation.

Speaker 4 (04:57):
Yeah, he doesn't, last said in vacation though.

Speaker 5 (05:00):
Like going on vacation. Does he have younger kids young?
I know he's got a son in the military, But
does he have younger kids?

Speaker 8 (05:06):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (05:06):
He has like about thirty of them, I think so. No,
he has like three. Yeah, they're a couple. They're like
teenagers and the little less there.

Speaker 5 (05:13):
I understand traveling with kids, but I was like, I've
never heard of somebody that doesn't like vacation.

Speaker 4 (05:18):
And he's like, no, I don't like it.

Speaker 5 (05:19):
I'm like, but he also, you know, I'll defend him
one because I love him, but two, he also is
on the road. What ten you know, oh, probably twenty
weekends a year with softball and football.

Speaker 2 (05:31):
Yeah, yeah, there's if you guys only knew how he
rushes back from colleague like softball or whatever he's doing,
just to get back into to do the Sunday Show.

Speaker 4 (05:41):
It's absolutely hysterical. Really quick, who did it? I did
you do this? Photoshop? Who did this photo?

Speaker 9 (05:46):
Oh?

Speaker 7 (05:46):
Yeah, that was me.

Speaker 10 (05:47):
I've been doing them every week. Okay, it's it's not
even photoshop. It's literally just snapcat. Okay.

Speaker 2 (05:52):
See I didn't like that because they made you look
really thin and you're really not that thin.

Speaker 5 (05:56):
To him, oh, Arnie literally was like because I said, oh,
it was my eight year work in Hersus.

Speaker 4 (06:01):
He's like, yeah, you're a lot skinnier back then. I'm like,
you look like you've been eating salt sandwiches.

Speaker 3 (06:05):
Now, wow, you don't even see me. I've seen pictures
of you.

Speaker 4 (06:08):
What does that mean? Does that mean he's bloated salt sandwiches? Yeah, exactly.
Get the salt out of your diet, dude.

Speaker 5 (06:14):
Okay, well you should get the clothes off your workout machine.
At your wife bought you. Pick up that shovel and
don't just hand it over to your wife. Actually shovel something.

Speaker 2 (06:23):
He start doing something. All right, Look, we got a
lot to get to. What's happening right off the bat.
I do want to say rest in peace to Dave Parker.
We are family, right, I mean a lot of people. Remember,
he's always going to be a Pittsburgh pirate to me.
I know he played for the Reds for a couple
of years, stop with the A's, Brewers, Angels, Blue Jays,
but he's always going to be a Pittsburgh pirate. Lifetime

(06:46):
average of two ninety ERA. And then what's really sad
is he was elected to the Hall of Fame and
was going to be inducted next month. Sure, so he
passes away right before. At least he knew though that
he was a Hall of Famer. Great guy and one
quick thing. When I first started in radio, I worked

(07:06):
for a network in Las Vegas, and the guy that
was on right before me was Bill mad Dog Matlock,
one of his teammates, and he always had great things
to say about him, about Dave Parker and just a
great guy.

Speaker 4 (07:23):
I mean, just really a great guy.

Speaker 2 (07:25):
And so was Bill, and I was actually going to
try to call him up and get him on the
show today.

Speaker 3 (07:30):
But rest in peace.

Speaker 2 (07:32):
Dave Parker's seventy four years old, and kind of sucks
that he passed away one month before he was supposed.

Speaker 4 (07:37):
To be inducted into the Hall of Fame, you know
what I mean.

Speaker 5 (07:39):
Yeah, it was a little bit before my time, but
I obviously know the stories of you know one, you
even see the pictures yesterday of him smoking in the dugout,
and seriously, it was a different era. You know what
was the picture that I think Jeff Passing shared something
to the effect of, if you see me bopping, I'm
just bopping with the boys or something.

Speaker 2 (07:57):
I put that back and there's a video of him
throwing out somebody from right field to Gary Carter at
the point, and that was like on a on a fly.

Speaker 4 (08:06):
He had a canon of an arm that was unbelievable.

Speaker 5 (08:08):
Let me ask you this in all sincerity, I feel
like you know of that generation, like you know, late seventies,
early eighties. I just feel like there's a lot of
dudes that like withstood the test of time, and I
don't feel like he got enough credit relative to what
he did. Seven time All Star MVP things like that.

(08:30):
I don't know, just it's like it's not like one
of the first names that comes off of your tongue
from that era, and it feels like people like yourself,
and I'm not being sarcastic about that, but like people
that actually watched him play seem to really revere him.

Speaker 2 (08:43):
Then, you know what, you may be right about that,
because if you're talking to why he's only in the
Hall of Fame now, he never got really more than
twenty four twenty five percent of the Baseball Hall of
Fame ballots. And I don't think his Baseball Writers' Association
America eligibility that was exhaust a long time ago. So yeah,

(09:03):
he probably should have gotten a lot more credit. I
think I'm not one hundred percent sure of this, but
I think he was the first million dollar play.

Speaker 4 (09:12):
He was last night.

Speaker 2 (09:14):
Oh that he in Major League Baseball so I mean
a lot of players now and it doesn't seem like
a big deal, doesn't eric, But that was a big
deal back then, breaking the million dollar mark. I remember
Magic Johnson was getting twenty five million for twenty five years, yep,
and like, wow.

Speaker 4 (09:33):
That's incredible. But rest in peace, Dave Parker.

Speaker 2 (09:38):
We are family and not only a great guy from
great teams, a great error, but great.

Speaker 3 (09:46):
Uniforms to error.

Speaker 4 (09:47):
Those things. Wow, those things are awesome. Man, they were great.
You know, Yeah, why don't we have those anymore?

Speaker 2 (09:52):
I like him and those caps. I can't really describe it.
You know, they weren't the typical baseball cap. They're a
little bit more rounded. But whatever it was, it was
pretty cool. Rest in peace, Dave Parker. All Right, if
you want to get into the show, real simple, Aaron
underscore Torres, I'm instincing genius one. I was debating, do
we want to start with the New York Nixon and

(10:14):
Don Staley or do we want to get to Lebron.
Lebron's the big news today that kind of broke later,
so let's start with that. We now know he's going
to pick up his option at fifty two point six million,
and he's going to go ahead and hope they can
win a championship this year because we don't think he's
going to be around next year. Doesn't look like the
Lakers are going to give him an extension. This will

(10:36):
probably safe to say, Aaron, the last year for Lebron James.

Speaker 3 (10:42):
I don't know where to start.

Speaker 2 (10:43):
A lot of people are calling him selfish for picking
up the fifty two million.

Speaker 3 (10:46):
What do you think about that?

Speaker 2 (10:47):
Should he have taken a little bit of a cut,
or since his last year, might as well take the
fifty two million and move on after that?

Speaker 4 (10:54):
Well, I have no problem taking the most amount of
money that you can.

Speaker 1 (10:58):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (10:58):
Where I have the problem is immediately after accepting the contract,
having your agent put out a statement about, oh, yeah,
you know, we'd really like to.

Speaker 4 (11:07):
Be for a championship.

Speaker 5 (11:08):
This was Rich Paul immediately after Lebron James took the
MAX extension for this coming season. Lebron wants to be
for a championship. He knows the Lakers are building for
the future, he understands that, but he values a realistic
chance of winning it all. We are appreciative of the
partnership that we've had for the last eight years with
Genie and Robin consider the Lakers as a critical part
of that career. We understand the difficulty in winning now

(11:29):
while preparing for the future. We do want to evaluate
what's best for Lebron at this stage in his life
and career. He wants to make every season he has
left count and the Lakers understand that a supportive et cetera.
Here's my thing. Yeah, he knows the Lakers are building
for the future. He understands that, but he also values
a realistic chance at winning it all. If you don't

(11:49):
believe the Lakers have a realistic chance of winning, don't
sign the extension.

Speaker 2 (11:56):
Well, but what's the The Wakers have a better chance
of winning if they had an extra five million from
Lebron James or an extra ten million from Lebron James
if you took a pay cut eron.

Speaker 5 (12:09):
I don't know enough about all this new salary caps,
but the point I'm trying to make is you can't
speak out of both sides of your mouth.

Speaker 3 (12:18):
Going to another team done as what you say.

Speaker 5 (12:19):
Say yes, and this is I think anybody who who
is frustrated with Lebron like me, You know, I was
the biggest Lebron guy about eight nine years ago.

Speaker 4 (12:29):
But it's like the guy is exhausting.

Speaker 5 (12:31):
I mean, every single trade this, do that, this, and
it's like, let the general manager do the general manager's job.
General manager who gets nothing but criticism is the guy
that traded for Anthony Davison is prime. Is the guy
who traded for Luka doncichen his prime is the guy
who you know made several moves because you wanted them,
including Russell Westbrook.

Speaker 4 (12:52):
It's just like it's just exhausting.

Speaker 5 (12:54):
You know, just either take the extension and say thank you,
but then don't immediate at least start trying to put
pressure on the organization. And here's the crazy part. I
think the organization's kind of over listening to him and
feeling like they have to get oh yeah, back.

Speaker 3 (13:09):
From what's a god? What's the god sold?

Speaker 6 (13:11):
Right?

Speaker 2 (13:11):
What's the god sold? You could feel and they didn't
say anything. They never said anything about Lebron, but what
you heard about the sale everybody's the first thing.

Speaker 4 (13:21):
Everybody was like, well.

Speaker 2 (13:22):
You know, what about Genie Buss and then what about Lebron?
And then I felt like I don't think they want
to keep Lebron. I think they're ready to move on
and put their own stamp out there. And I just
kind of got that feeling, you know what I mean.
I just felt like, the time they move on from Lebron,
are they doing the right thing.

Speaker 5 (13:40):
To move on from him? I mean, he's forty one
years old, or he'll be forty one years old.

Speaker 4 (13:44):
You know.

Speaker 5 (13:45):
Let me even ask you this, Arnie, because I am
genuinely curious. Is I felt like I go back to
that what was a Game five against Minnesota when they
ended up losing. It was the first time that I
just kind of I felt like Lebron was just sort
of a complete non factor in a playoff game. Like,

(14:07):
I didn't feel like he was bad, right, I just
felt like he was a complete non factor. Did you
feel that way as well? Am I crazy for saying that?

Speaker 2 (14:15):
I don't think he was a non factor. I think
the Lakers were a non factor. Maybe that's why you
feel like that. I still think he was, you know,
playing at a high level and putting points. You do
think he was playing at a high level.

Speaker 5 (14:28):
Well, I mean the last game of the season he was.
I just felt like he was a total non factor.
Let's see here, Maybe I'm twenty two, seven and six.
I mean, it's not bad for a forty year old,
but you know, at all in a closeout game.

Speaker 4 (14:38):
It just I don't know. It just it didn't feel
like he had very much juice.

Speaker 5 (14:41):
It didn't feel and maybe he just was over it
at that point that night, Luca had twenty eight seven
and nine. So yeah, I don't know. I just I
don't know, man, I just I do kind of just
feel like it. I'll say this, and this might be
a topic for later in the show. It might be whatever.

Speaker 4 (14:58):
I think the NBA.

Speaker 5 (14:59):
I think it's just time for the NBA to just
he's got to go, Like I think, you know, you no,
I'm serious, Like you watch these playoffs and it's like
you look at some of these guys, you know, I know,
Haliburton's hurt, so he's the wrong guy to reference, but
Shay Luka, Jokic, Jalen Brunts, and there's so much young
talent in this league, and yet every he sucks the

(15:22):
oxygen out of the room. I think the Lea's just
gonna be a better place when he's not around.

Speaker 2 (15:26):
If he had a choice of what had to you know, Like,
I know, they don't do this like the Baseball Hall
of Fame. But he's a Cavalier, right, That's the way
he'll always go down. He's a Cleveland Cavalry.

Speaker 4 (15:35):
He's not a Laker in my mind or what he's
a what no, I said in my mind he is. Yeah,
I was agreeing with you. He's not a.

Speaker 3 (15:41):
Laker for sure.

Speaker 4 (15:42):
That's oh dude.

Speaker 5 (15:43):
You know I'll say this and again, you know there
are people in the building that are better to speak
to about this than I am. But I truly believe,
like I don't think people realize how basically toxic the
Lakers brand has become.

Speaker 4 (15:57):
And being in LA it is amazing. I moved here
in twenty twelve.

Speaker 5 (16:01):
That was kind of the last full year of a
healthy Kobe before he had started having injuries. But it
was a Lakers town through and through. And I know
the Dodgers were going through this stuff with the former
ownership group them the Courts, but this is a Dodgerstown now,
and I think a lot of it is I don't
think fans ever really accepted him. I don't think they
like them. I don't think they like how he hijacked
the team. I don't think how they like how he

(16:24):
forced his own coach down their throats. I don't think
they like how he forced his son down their throats.
And so yeah, I think the brand is not in
as good a shape it as it had been, and
I think it will be once he leaves again.

Speaker 2 (16:36):
I used to think that when he was done with
the Lakers, he was going to buy the team in Vegas.
Get that up, him and his son could play. Then
you have his younger son when he's done with Arizona,
and then all three of them will play.

Speaker 4 (16:48):
The Vegas team is kind of far off, though.

Speaker 2 (16:51):
I don't think it could start there until like twenty
thirty or or something to that effect. So if you're Lebron,
and I guess there's reports that his wife wants in
the retire after this year or soon after, what do
you do? Where do you go? Do you go back
to Cleveland? Do you go to the Clippers? Do you
stay in LA and do that? I don't know where

(17:11):
you go? What's next for Lebron?

Speaker 5 (17:13):
You know, Well, if your wife's state, well, if your
wife's telling you to retire, I don't think she's saying
go to another team. I think she's saying I don't
want you playing basketball anymore? By the way, do you
like I saw that story? Feels a little too convenient.
Lebron pretty good at putting out whatever messaging he wants.

Speaker 4 (17:32):
Feels a little too on the nose.

Speaker 5 (17:34):
That Oh that little clip just happened to get out
of somebody saying, Oh, Lebron Savannah wants him to retire
after this.

Speaker 2 (17:41):
I didn't. I'm like, well, there's no way. Kevin Love
weeked that out. He was having dinner with Kevin Love, right.

Speaker 4 (17:45):
He was, and Kevin Love and his wife and then
some other persons. So, yeah, it's interesting. Can you imagine
Kevin I was just having dinner with Lebron. You have
to hear what he said. Oh, it's already all over
the internet. Don't worry about it, Kevin Me.

Speaker 7 (17:57):
No, no, man.

Speaker 5 (17:59):
By the way, yeah, real quick, Emmett just sent in,
just sent in a video of you screaming about rioting students.

Speaker 2 (18:07):
I've never seen this before. So that was when I
was on CNN. I used to do CNN in a
long time.

Speaker 4 (18:13):
Wow. Yeah, I used to be on a show like
every week for a long long time. And I was
screaming at a guy who had like a PhD and
a master.

Speaker 2 (18:24):
And I had him just stumbling. I thought he was
gonna a nervous breakdown, just the guy. I was joeing
about what was going on with the whole paternal situation.
And you know what happened at Penn State.

Speaker 11 (18:35):
So, Arnie, I think you were on the Holiday and
Express of CNN, which would be a HLN headline news.

Speaker 2 (18:41):
Yes, yeah, headline news. But I was on CNN too,
But yes, headline news.

Speaker 5 (18:44):
Right by the way, I liked the first two comments
Arnie cover years first guy.

Speaker 4 (18:48):
First guy says, miss that guy, which is very nice.

Speaker 5 (18:50):
Second guy says, I remember listening to Arnie Beck in
ninety seven and ninety eight late at night. Never knew
what happened to him after his show got replaced in
my market.

Speaker 2 (18:59):
Wow, here he is seven years later. But what come
about not getting any of these tweets? I don't see
this on my.

Speaker 5 (19:09):
Tweeted all of us stink a genius, Iowa, sam Ian.

Speaker 4 (19:13):
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (19:13):
You know, my Twitter has been screwed up ever since
somebody hacked into it, you know what I mean?

Speaker 4 (19:17):
I heard about that. Yeah, what kind of lengths were
you clicking on?

Speaker 3 (19:20):
I don't know, but it's still it's never been the same.

Speaker 2 (19:22):
I don't I don't see the the tweet that you
guys got, But keep reading them, what mean?

Speaker 4 (19:26):
Just keep refreshing, Arnie, you'll see it. I don't see it.

Speaker 2 (19:29):
You can't even get me his first show from July fourth.
Don't tell them tweeted at stinking Genius two.

Speaker 4 (19:34):
That's the problem. No, you see that.

Speaker 3 (19:36):
It's stinking genius one. No, you did not.

Speaker 4 (19:39):
You're lying. Oh you found it, so you're a liar.

Speaker 3 (19:41):
No, I don't have it.

Speaker 7 (19:42):
I don't have it.

Speaker 4 (19:44):
I don't have it.

Speaker 2 (19:45):
I don't know if he I needn't put stinking Genius two.
It's stinking genius one. Somebody, actually, Gutty wants to know
what's the phone number? Do we ever take calls?

Speaker 4 (19:54):
We took calls last night, did you really?

Speaker 1 (19:57):
Yeah?

Speaker 5 (19:57):
We we did a little bit of U first take
basically saying Cooper Flag is only going to be popular
because he is uh Caucasian.

Speaker 4 (20:06):
Let's just say the phone line is lit up after
that segment.

Speaker 2 (20:09):
So we got a lot going. I want to get
to Cooper fig Go. So I want to get to
the Nicks and their next head coach. I got a
lot to say on this Aaron Torres in for Chris
play I'm already Spaniard.

Speaker 3 (20:19):
This is Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 9 (20:25):
Hi, this is Jay. I'm the producer of the Paul
and Tony Fusco Show. Usually in these promos they asked
you to listen to the show. I'm here to ask
you please don't listen to the show. The hosts are
two absolute morons who have the dumbest takes on sports imaginable.
Don't listen to the show so it can get camps.

Speaker 4 (20:42):
Get him.

Speaker 7 (20:47):
Fool.

Speaker 5 (20:47):
Listen to the Tony Fusco Show on the iHeart Radio
app or wherever you get your podcast.

Speaker 4 (20:52):
He's still moving.

Speaker 6 (20:55):
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in
the nation. Catch all of our show, said Foxsports Radio
dot com and within the iHeartRadio app search FSR to
listen live.

Speaker 4 (21:06):
All right, good evening, everybody.

Speaker 2 (21:07):
Arnie Spaniard and Aaron Torres in for Chris Plank. I
gave Plank the night off. Get you everybody. Everybody's got
to get a everybody's got to get a day off,
you know what I mean. Everybody's gonna once a year,
not too bad, go on a little vacation.

Speaker 5 (21:22):
Do you ever give your wife a day off, Like, no, no,
she gets no days off when it's snows. You give
her the shovel, he say, I give her the shovel.

Speaker 2 (21:29):
Goes shovel the snow and make sure everything's going good
out there. She gets no days off from me. That's
for damn sure. The New York Knicks. By the way,
I've always said this that coaching is overrated in the NBA,
and I'm finally proven.

Speaker 4 (21:44):
Right after all these years.

Speaker 2 (21:46):
The New York Knicks are like the second favorite to
go to the NBA Championship and they.

Speaker 4 (21:51):
Don't even have a coach.

Speaker 2 (21:52):
So it goes to show you doesn't even make it
off two of the coaches I guess the reports are.
The Knicks reportedly considered South Carolina and as Dawn Staley
to be their next head coach out there. When I
first saw this, I did not put this on Twitter
because I thought it was a fake account. Sure, oh
you got me, You almost got me. I'm like, I'm

(22:14):
looking for NBA Sentel.

Speaker 4 (22:16):
And sure have been got by them a few times.

Speaker 3 (22:19):
Oh, I've been.

Speaker 2 (22:19):
And then there came a few other places. I'm like, wow,
look at all these parody accounts. I'm really almost got
taken here. And the more I'm listening and I'm listening
to people actually talk about it on the radio, I go, look,
those guys got to because I still didn't believe that
the Knicks would reach out to Dawn Staley. Now it's
not because she's a female. Before everybody starts.

Speaker 4 (22:41):
In on me, there's so many reasons. I know.

Speaker 2 (22:45):
First of all, I would think Becky Hammond would do
a pretty decent job. I don't think she should be hired,
but I think she would do a pretty decent job
as head coach of the Knicks. But Dawn Staley, first
of all, personality wise, there'd be a major conflict. She
thinks she's bigger than the game. She thinks she's bigger
than the team. Maybe in South Carolina she's actually bigger.

Speaker 3 (23:06):
Than the team. Who knows. Maybe she's right about that.

Speaker 2 (23:09):
But you're not bigger than the team in the NBA,
whether it's the Knicks or the Lakers or whoever you're
coaching out there. Two, you have to answer to the media.
She doesn't answer to the Media's head coach at South Carolina,
she picks and chooses a few questions and really doesn't
stand up to the hard ones. There'd be a lot
of tough questions for her, especially politically too, when they

(23:32):
talk about what's going on out there in the scope
of sports and stuff.

Speaker 4 (23:37):
She would really, I think, would have a tough time. Three.

Speaker 2 (23:41):
The New York Knicks is not a starter job for
somebody that's never coached or played in the NBA.

Speaker 3 (23:48):
You maybe could go to a.

Speaker 7 (23:50):
Team that.

Speaker 2 (23:52):
Is, let's say that close to the championship. The Knicks,
like I said, are one of the favorites for the
Eastern Conference finals, so damn close right now, and probably should.

Speaker 4 (24:02):
Have made it to the finals.

Speaker 2 (24:03):
I just think this would be a horrible hire every
which way. I don't think they're going to do it.
I think it was just kind of doing their due diligence.
I've said this a long time ago, or not a
long time ago. When I first found out that Tibbs
was fired, I'm like, it's like your girlfriend and your breakup,
and you're like, you know what, I miss you, I
want to get back together.

Speaker 3 (24:24):
I want Tims back. I missed him. I want him back.

Speaker 2 (24:27):
But what did you think about the Nicks trying to
go out and get Dawn Stale do you think they were.

Speaker 4 (24:31):
Serious about that? And which should be a good coach?

Speaker 5 (24:34):
All right, so you said, so we talked about this
on my Saturday show. You actually said a lot of
the stuff that I said on our show last night,
and I actually, for once, and I'm being serious, I
actually agree with you on a lot of it. Is
I actually think I actually, I sincerely mean this. And
every time I say a thing negative, people are like, oh, Tores,

(24:54):
you'r a Yukon guy women's basketball whatever. I think she
is the most person in sports. And what I mean
by that is this is that when she wins, and
she wins a ton because she is an excellent coach,
but when she wins a ton, she gets all this
praise and she's unbelievable and she's the greatest thing ever
and people are seriously, there were articles being written before

(25:17):
she won I think her third championship of like, oh,
you know, comparing her to Gino and it's like, respectfully, like,
let's letter win like five more before we start comparing
to Geno. But anyway, but no, but the second things
go wrong, it is always finger pointing and blaming, and
like you said, she never answers tough questions, and it's
always somebody else's fault. And you know, I'll be real

(25:39):
and I've said this and I truly mean it and
I believe it. I've just been really turned off by
a lot of her behavior because to me, she's somebody
that I understand is saying I stand up for women's sports.
I understand this da da da dah, this and that.
Yet I only every time that somebody else other than
her team is getting praise, all I hear is complaints.

(26:00):
You know, this year with Paige Beckers, they asked her
what it would mean for Paige Beckers to win a championship.
She said, well, my players going for back to back.
Why don't you ask me about that? You know, there
was the Caitlin Clark stuff. There was the time, by
the way, where Lisa Blueter, the IOWA coach, called them
barroom brawlers, which is actually a compliment. It's like, they're
a physical, tough team, and I know what that means.

Speaker 7 (26:21):
What does it mean?

Speaker 5 (26:22):
And so it's like, so just think about that, Arnie,
someone called her team barroom brawlers.

Speaker 2 (26:27):
That is not an insult, No, no one is. She
made us think about that. I remember that yeah, And.

Speaker 5 (26:33):
So imagine eighty two games, what they're gonna say about
your team, and eighty two games, by the way, what
they're gonna say about your team when you lose more
than once or twice in a year, because everybody loses
a bunch in the NBA. I don't I'm actually one
hundred percent with you. I think she's been coddled. I
don't think she would handle it well. I think it
would be kind of a disaster. But clearly my thoughts here.

Speaker 3 (26:55):
Has anybody ever come out yet?

Speaker 2 (26:57):
I know it's a fairly news story, but said, oh,
this is fantastic. That is going to be a phenomenal higher.
She's going to do a good job, and she's going
to take the Knicks to the championship, and she's the
one missing piece to get him to win that championship.
Excellent higher if they pull it off by the New
York Knicks. Has anybody said that, I'm just kind of

(27:17):
curious anybody.

Speaker 5 (27:19):
I have not heard it, and ye know, I haven't
heard it. And maybe it's just because the way the
report was framed, it seemed like it was a very
like they've interviewed these two people, but they also talked
to Don Stali and so maybe people don't think that
it's very far down the road. The other thing we
talked about with Jamart last night, I'd be curious from
your perspective, I'd be curious how she's covered, like when

(27:43):
things go wrong, Yeah, and specifically, like we all watch
the NBA, we all watch sports. We've seen everybody from
Brady and Belichick on down having screaming matches on the sideline, right,
It's what happens in the heat of the moment. What
do you think would be the first time that that
Jalen Brunson walks to the sideline.

Speaker 4 (28:02):
I'm just using him as an example.

Speaker 5 (28:03):
Could be Michael Bridges, it could be Karl Anthony Towns, whatever,
and she says something and they bark back at her,
because I think it would be like a big story like, oh,
you know, look at all he taught and it's like
that's part of sports, And I'd be very curious how
she's covered.

Speaker 2 (28:17):
Honestly, it's a big story if you bark back a
male coach, is it not?

Speaker 1 (28:21):
Yep?

Speaker 2 (28:21):
I mean if the ft Broun was you know, yelling
back at somebody or yelling at the teammate or whatever
would be going to can you believe those look at
the arrogance on what's going on here and stuff like that,
and we would be taught. And you're right, if she
did it, I mean, would get the attention. I don't know
how she would handle it in front of the media though,
exactly No, I I I I think she's a great coach.

Speaker 5 (28:44):
I don't think that she has handled adversity well as
a head coach. And maybe it's because she's so not
used to losing because she wins so much, which is
a compliment to her and her coaching abilities. But you know,
you gotta win with grace, you gotta lose with grace,
and for the most part, I have not seen her
lose with very much.

Speaker 1 (29:01):
Great.

Speaker 2 (29:02):
I'll let mister nobody who just tweeted this in get
the last word. The fact that the Nick's even considered
Don Staley show they violated the first rule of when
you fire a coach, have his successor in play.

Speaker 5 (29:14):
Awesome really quick on that, Arny is I you know
the day that because I had Phil did I would
not I didn't fill in my shift was when the
Knicks lost Game six. I guess it was to Indie,
and I was working with Olden Polonies, and I don't
want to speak for Olden, but he made a very
articulate point on why it might be time to move
on from Tibbs, and so by the end of the show,

(29:34):
it's kind of like, if they do this, it wouldn't
be the worst thing.

Speaker 4 (29:37):
Of course, I was under the assumption that they knew
who they were hiring.

Speaker 5 (29:40):
And to mister Nobody's point, yeah, that that is kind
of a you know what show?

Speaker 1 (29:45):
Right?

Speaker 2 (29:45):
All right, I want you to know, be sure to
check out Fox Sports Radio's YouTube channel a ton of

give him the night off? So what's going on to sag?

Speaker 6 (30:16):
No?

Speaker 7 (30:17):
No, I'm very happy to work with aeron.

Speaker 4 (30:18):
There you Oh wow, what about me? What about me? Okay?

Speaker 7 (30:24):
Yeah? Ye to hear the show tonight.

Speaker 12 (30:26):
By the way, if Don Staley has become an NBA coach,
she she won't be complaining about.

Speaker 7 (30:31):
Being not being the number one overall seat anymore. Right, Yeah, yeah,
that's true.

Speaker 4 (30:35):
We forgot well with.

Speaker 12 (30:37):
The next time. We were only down thirty UCLA. How
come we're not the best?

Speaker 7 (30:42):
Okay?

Speaker 13 (30:42):
Yeah?

Speaker 7 (30:42):
Whatever.

Speaker 12 (30:43):
Major League Baseball was at Detroit tonight and the Tigers
won again, beat Minnesota three nothing. The winning pitcher, the
guy who won the Cy Young Award last year, Trek
schoolbl great again this year ten and two. He had
lost his first two decisions this year. He's now the
only Higers guy in the last forty years to win
ten straight decisions in a season other than Justin Verlander

(31:07):
and Max Scherzer in that forty year span. For this franchise,
he's done that right now. Ten and two eer two
point one, five three nothing the final and a record
for the Tigers of fifty three and thirty two, same
record as the Dodgers have. After LA's win at Kansas
City five to one, the White Sox beats San Francisco
five to two. The Giant signed former Dodgers catcher Austin

(31:29):
Barnes to a minor league deal. Miami won its seventh
straight game, a comeback at Arizona six to four. Eleven
inning wins on the road for Colorado and Washington, a
twelve inning win for Seattle six to four at Texas.
The Mets lost again, this time twelve to one at Pittsburgh,
while Philadelphia won two to one at Atlanta, beating Spencer Streider.

(31:50):
The Phillies are first in the NL East, game and
a half over the Mets. In the AL East, the
Rays now game and a half behind the first place Yankees.
Yanks won twelve five against the A's Aaron Judge two
home runs. He has thirty. Tampa Bay loss five to
one at Baltimore. Cincinnati, with two in the bottom of
the ninth beat the Padres three to two. Houston shut
out the Cubs to nothing. Wins for Saint Louis and Toronto.

(32:13):
US men's soccer tonight won its Gold Cup quarterfinal on
penalty kicks against Costa Rica. This was on Fox TV
from Minnesota. Three late saves for the US goalie Matt Free.
Semifinals are on FS one Wednesday against Guatemala, which upset
Canada in a shootout. Lebron James exercised his player option
to stay with the Lakers. He'll learn over fifty two
million dollars next season. The Lakers Dorian Finney Smith declined

(32:37):
his option. James Harden will resign with the Clippers for
one year plus a player option potentially worth over eighty
million dollars. Julius Randall is resigning with Minnesota two years
plus a player option potentially worth one hundred million dollars.
Bobby Portis will resign with Milwaukee two years plus a
player option potentially worth forty four mil DeAndre is finalizing

(33:01):
a buy out with Portland. NBA free agency starts this
week among the five w NBA games.

Speaker 3 (33:06):
When does it start?

Speaker 12 (33:08):
And it should be the new league year in July,
So tomorrow's June thirtieth, so we get that moratorium period,
and then all these things about the science will I
thought it started Wednesday, Well, July first would be Tuesdays,
so I assume the negotiations. But again, you can't put
pen to paper until fiscally the new NBA league years.

(33:30):
I forget, I asked, the answer is this week? It
turns July. This week WNBA expansion Golden State was a winner.
It wins for Chicago and Minnesota as well. Patrick Reid
took the Live golf tournament in Dallas. And news from
college football, the BYU quarterback Jake Rhetzloff is reportedly transferring
after an honor code suspension there he was accused of

(33:51):
sexual assault. Rhetzluff as a graduate student and has one
year of eligibility remaining.

Speaker 2 (33:57):
Back to you, all right, thanks to the saga erin
Torrez Arnie Spanier torres in for Chris Blank on this
Sunday night. And I do want to talk about Cooper Flag.
I thought it was interesting you brought up that is
he popular because he's white? Or is he popular because
he's really damn good? And he was the number one
pick for the NBA Draft. We'll get to that coming
up next right here on Fox Sports or Radio.

Speaker 1 (34:22):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.

Speaker 2 (34:25):
All right, good evening, everyone, We're live at the Fox
Sports Radio studios. Arnie Spaniel Aaron Torres in for Chris
Blank on this Sunday night. Cooper Flag. I can't wait
to see this kid play. Hey, no, I am yeah.

Speaker 5 (34:41):
You being at that part of the country, did you
ever see him in high school? Like before he really
blew up or anything like that.

Speaker 2 (34:47):
No, I know his twin brothers going to the University
of Maine, correct, Ye, and they play in the America East,
which is in the same conference as Vermont. So I'm
sure I'll go ahead and maybe go see him play.

Speaker 4 (35:00):
A little bit.

Speaker 2 (35:00):
But No, I was aware of him, of course, but
I never knew him, and we knew there was a
really great player in the state of Maine.

Speaker 4 (35:10):
They're like, this kid could be the number one pick
of the draft.

Speaker 2 (35:11):
They're like from Maine. Wow, that's kind of crazy out there.
What were people saying on the show when they were
calling in about if Cooper Flag was popular because he
was white or because he was good.

Speaker 5 (35:24):
No, it was based off of in the least surprising
news ever. And I don't like to be critical of
other media outlets, but I have to call a spade
a spade. And basically, first take, we actually have the sound.
If you want to hear it, we can get it
up pretty quick. But Peter Rosenberg, maybe you guys can
look that I've heard. Okay, go ahead, Sam play the sound.

Speaker 8 (35:44):
We're all adults. We can have a real life conversation.
Right last time, I checked. So we still live in America, right,
Cooper Flag is a white guy, maybe the best white
American prospects since Larry Bird. Right, Let's not act as
if we don't live in America. We're not seeing what's
happening with Caitlin Clark in the WNBA. Cooper Flag is

(36:07):
going to be an instant impact player in the NBA.
I think Danny will agree he is ready to go.
That kid could play right now if he's nearly as
good as people expect. I think when it comes to intrigue,
actual intrigue that people are talking about day to day,
no one's going to be more intriguing and get more
eyeballs than with Cooper Flag's doing in Dallas.

Speaker 4 (36:29):
So that's first time you've heard it. I'll defer to
you I have some well.

Speaker 2 (36:32):
I mean, if you say this because he's wivy, there's
been other white stars in the WNBA ALLSOE can go
that have not got the attention that Caitlin Clark has had.
So I would have to disagree with that one. Maybe
I have too much pressure on him or expectations or
two eye. I think he could average twenty points a game,
which would be one of the all time leaders for

(36:53):
rookies coming in. I think the level is through the
ceiling with this kid. I believe all the hype that
I'm reading from everybody else, all Pro All Star, take
his team to the NBA championship. Hell, by the time
his career is over, he may be the logo for
placing Jerry West.

Speaker 3 (37:14):
I don't know, but that's how good he really is.

Speaker 4 (37:17):
Now.

Speaker 2 (37:18):
Maybe Kobe Bryant only average went seven or eight points
a game. I believe when he was a rookie, Michael
certainly took him a long time before he won championships.
He had to get Scottie Pippen, So maybe that's not
fair of me. But this is a different NBA right now,
a lot more scoring. He's gonna get a lot of shots,
he's gonna get a lot of playing time. I just

(37:40):
think the kid's really damn good. That's why the eyeballs
will be on him. Sure, there's gonna be few people
watching and enjoying that he's a white player, but I
don't think that's gonna be enough to get people to
tune in and in all kinds of records just because
he's white. It's because he's good and was the number
one pick in the NBA draft.

Speaker 4 (37:58):
There, yeah, things.

Speaker 5 (38:00):
One My first take was exactly what yours was, is
that there have been a lot of good white players
in the WNBA. None of them have transcended. Like Calal Clark.
It's it's maybe a little bit because she's white, but
she's also awesome. I think the opposite is also true
as well with Cooper Flag, Arnie, last time I checked,
and maybe I missed something, Cooper Flag was white the

(38:21):
entire time he was at Duke, Right, I didn't miss
something there.

Speaker 4 (38:24):
No, Yeah, he was white the entire time.

Speaker 5 (38:26):
Okay, good, good, good cause it didn't feel like he
crossed over the way that other college stars have. I mean, obviously,
Zion Williamson's an easy comparison. You know, Trey Young was
all the talk the year that he was at Oklahoma,
and so like this default to like, well, I mean,
people are only going to tune in because he's he's
a white guy.

Speaker 4 (38:45):
And it's like, I mean, I think they would have
tuned in at Duke.

Speaker 5 (38:49):
I just think he plays, like you said, a complimentary game,
where like, yes he could score, but that's not all
he does. Like I don't think he has a super
flashy game, and he certainly does have a super flashy personality,
and so like, good, go ahead, I know you don't know.

Speaker 2 (39:03):
I was going to say personality was the next thing
I was going to bring up. Is he going to
be because he we really don't know what kind of
personality he has. He's very guarded. When he was at Duke,
he took a couple of questions. Everything was pretty much
kept the basketball. Things will be completely different when he
gets to the NBA, different types of media, athletics, sports,
non sports. Then we're going to see his personality come out.

(39:25):
And I think he he's that's going to be a
big part of his persona and how things go for
how many people want to tune in Aaron.

Speaker 4 (39:33):
Yeah, I just I agree with you.

Speaker 5 (39:35):
I just think that if if it was so, if
we're just looking for a white star to celebrate, right, we.

Speaker 4 (39:41):
Would have done it at Duke.

Speaker 5 (39:43):
He like, I hate to say it because I love
college basketball, but he didn't even cross over at Duke
the way that I thought.

Speaker 4 (39:48):
I thought he was going to be a bigger deal
at Duke than I agree with you one.

Speaker 2 (39:51):
I thought he was going to put up bigger numbers
but I thought he was going to be a bigger deal,
you know, like, oh here comes Cooper, Flag and Duke
and everybody getting all crazy about it.

Speaker 3 (40:01):
He wasn't as big as Eon.

Speaker 4 (40:02):
There's not even close. I agree.

Speaker 5 (40:04):
I'm actually scared how much we're agreeing today.

Speaker 2 (40:07):
But I do think it looks twenty points a game
unrealistic though.

Speaker 3 (40:11):
Is that too high for him or what?

Speaker 5 (40:13):
I don't think so. I mean, he's gonna be put
in position to succeed. The cool thing about him is
that he's going to a place where he doesn't have
to do all that. But I think when Kyrie eventually
comes back, that's actually gonna be a really formidable team.

Speaker 2 (40:25):
Wait and see our one already in the books. That
one just flew on. By, my goodness, this show is
flying by. You want to be part of the show
airon Underscore. Torres, I'm itstinking genius one. We got some
football to get to, believe it or not. Todd Furman
also gonna go ahead and join this next hour all
that coming up or right here on Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (40:47):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.

Speaker 2 (40:50):
Oh good evening, everybody. Aaron Torres in for Chris Plank,
I'm Arnie Spaniard. We're live at the Fox Sports or
Radio studios. Busy Sunday night. Lots to get to if
you want to be part of the show. Real simple,
I'm its thinking genius one. He's at Aaron Underscore Taurus.
Matter of fact, Emmett said, why don't we open up

(41:12):
the phone lines. I'll tell you what I'll do. Why
don't we open up the phone lines on Friday? When
you and I are filling in again. That's a four
hour show because we got so much going on today anyway.

Speaker 3 (41:22):
Okay, so we'll open up.

Speaker 2 (41:23):
We'll open up the phone lines on Friday and we'll
have a little fun.

Speaker 4 (41:27):
How about that. It's your show. You're driving. I'm just
trying to am I driving on Friday?

Speaker 3 (41:32):
I was about to ask him, am I going to
be driving on Friday?

Speaker 4 (41:35):
Or what I met tonight?

Speaker 7 (41:36):
Oh?

Speaker 4 (41:37):
I don't really care. I mean we can talk about
that through.

Speaker 2 (41:39):
Oh you see, look, I let Plank drive on Sunday nights.

Speaker 3 (41:42):
Yeah, because he's never going to.

Speaker 2 (41:44):
Learn how to drive unless I, you know, let him
do it and I'll let him warn. And it's been
twelve years, so he's getting a little bit better. But
he still doesn't have it down with you. I drove
the show for four years because I knew you could.
You couldn't drive it. It was just too much for
you to handle, you know what I mean?

Speaker 5 (42:00):
Just never since the show has gone to bigger and
better heights since you left.

Speaker 3 (42:05):
Oh is that what it is?

Speaker 7 (42:06):
Right?

Speaker 5 (42:06):
You taught me to drive so well, the mentor now
becomes thee. The pupil now becomes the mentors that well.

Speaker 2 (42:13):
Who should drive on front? Should Should it be you?
Should it be me? Should we split it? You get
to you gotta fick this thing out.

Speaker 4 (42:19):
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (42:20):
I'm not sure. I'm not sure what we should do
to that. So I'm writing four hours and long shave it.

Speaker 5 (42:27):
Up to the audience, tweet in at Aaron Underscore tours,
that stinky genius one.

Speaker 3 (42:31):
By the way, I got to apologize.

Speaker 4 (42:32):
Apology, accept it. That's okay. Now to you. Let it
happen again? You know.

Speaker 2 (42:36):
Usually, of course, when Plank drives the show, he introduces everybody,
including the producers and our board ops and stuff like that.

Speaker 4 (42:44):
I didn't even tell you who we were working with.

Speaker 3 (42:46):
To that.

Speaker 4 (42:46):
That is see why I can't let you drive anymore.
You can't see the road. It's late at night. Your
glasses are getting thicker. It's just like, I don't should
I introduce them or forget about it? That announced to it?

Speaker 5 (42:59):
I think you should, and you should apologize to each
of them individually.

Speaker 2 (43:03):
Actually, well, producer Ian, Yes, Arnie is producing the show today.
Ian's the one I asked to help me get the
July fourth show from eight years ago and said he
couldn't do anything for me.

Speaker 4 (43:15):
You're ridiculous. You're ridiculous.

Speaker 2 (43:17):
So thank you Ian for that and running the show today.
We got a special guest, Iowa Sam who I could
smell the booze from here getting back from Vegas?

Speaker 3 (43:27):
Have you even gotten any sleep?

Speaker 11 (43:29):
I was saying, I'm good. That was that was a
whole week ago, Arnie. Come on, I bounce back like
a rubber band ball. Well, Arney does.

Speaker 10 (43:37):
Things a little late because he's he's introducing the crew
an hour into the show right now.

Speaker 2 (43:41):
So well, I didn't bother to think about who is work?
Usually we don't have a producer on the show. Oh
do do we? I've never met the producer?

Speaker 4 (43:50):
So is that you?

Speaker 1 (43:52):
Ian?

Speaker 3 (43:52):
Is that who you usually produced?

Speaker 4 (43:54):
My show?

Speaker 7 (43:54):
Is that?

Speaker 3 (43:55):
Is that?

Speaker 4 (43:56):
The way that works.

Speaker 2 (43:58):
Yeah, all right, so thank you. Yeah, we got Iowa,
Sam and Ian sitting in with tonight US tonight and
of course the SEGA doing the updates. Todd Ferman gonna
join us at about twenty past the hour, and we
got a bunch of football to get to.

Speaker 3 (44:16):
Also, one thing I want to wrap up is we're.

Speaker 2 (44:18):
Finishing up the NBA air and the draft. What did
you think about it? The host, the production, what the
guy had thought of? And I brought this up when
I was filling him. The interviews are so cringe worthy.

Speaker 3 (44:34):
And I'm talking about the interviews with.

Speaker 2 (44:35):
The parents, with the siblings. It is just so tough
to watch and listen to. And I know they're not
trained to speak to the media and do interviews like that,
but you've had your whole life to think about. I mean,
you knew your brother or whatever was going to be
drafted and it was going to take hi they were

(44:56):
going to ask.

Speaker 4 (44:57):
You a question.

Speaker 2 (44:58):
You think you'd come up with a couple of answers,
but some of them are so cringe worthy and one
word answers.

Speaker 4 (45:05):
It was very.

Speaker 2 (45:06):
Painful, man, but it it was enjoyable but painful at
the same time.

Speaker 1 (45:10):
You know.

Speaker 4 (45:11):
Well, he asked me what I thought about the production.

Speaker 5 (45:13):
I will say there was one pick that like just
truly shocked me.

Speaker 4 (45:18):
I was Sam play the Sun.

Speaker 13 (45:20):
So the Portland Trailblazers select Colin Coward.

Speaker 10 (45:24):
Here, this is a young man with the ultimate bed
on yourself story.

Speaker 2 (45:30):
Did anybody correct her? Did anybody correct her? I mean
Twitter did? Everybody picked up Twitter did, but nobody on
the air. I figured out I love that too. I
saw that. I was cracking up when I heard that.

Speaker 4 (45:44):
It was funny.

Speaker 5 (45:44):
So I was actually on vacation last week, but we
were watching the draft and I was actually like, it's
gonna sound weird. I was like in the bathroom, not
like using the bathroom, but I was standing in the bathroom.
I don know if I was brushing my teeth or whatever.
Around the East Coast, and I was like, did I
just hear what I thought? Did she just say Colin Coward?
And then it like it registered. Oh, our Fox Sports
radio host is apparently leaving to go play for the

(46:05):
Portland Trailblazers.

Speaker 4 (46:06):
But then they traded him to the Memphis Grizzlies.

Speaker 2 (46:07):
And he's from that area, so you could have believed that,
you know, that could have been.

Speaker 5 (46:11):
I could have believed it if he wasn't like in
his early sixties and not playing basketball professionally right now, so.

Speaker 2 (46:16):
Peterville was in the twenties, you'd believe a little bit more, right.

Speaker 5 (46:20):
Yeah, So what do you think of the production and
everything outside of the players that don't know how to
do interviewing?

Speaker 2 (46:25):
First of all, I didn't know that the day one
was it that the AT and T connect fans. What
did they just get some people off the street and
just say clap when when they get out there. It
just didn't look It's not even close to what the
NFL is. Day two it was like what in a
dark room? I'm beause somebody gounna turned the lights on.
How many people are in there? Ten people clapping? It

(46:47):
was an embarrassment. They've got to do a better job
because they're not close to the level the NFL does
and focus like what ten or twelve million people watching
the draft? This not even close. I don't know how
you could make it better, though, You've got to do
a few things, but this was this was dragged in
so many different ways.

Speaker 5 (47:07):
Aaron, Well, the one thing I will say, can we
stop with the two days. Like, so, Arnie, I think
you know, at this point, I'm a pretty big college TopSky,
and admittedly I was on vacation, but I didn't even
tune into the second day, Like I barely was interested
in the first day, if I'm being perfectly honest.

Speaker 4 (47:24):
And so, like last year, it was kind.

Speaker 5 (47:26):
Of weird because they they unfortunately can they scheduled the draft,
and then that was the day of a presidential debate,
so they moved the draft the day too, to like
one in the afternoon or something. But at least last
year you had the browny thing where it was like, yeah,
are the Lakers really gonna draft? Now it's just a
bunch of dudes that nobody's ever heard of, or certainly

(47:47):
that very few people care about. So that's one. Get
both rounds in in night one and then two. Yeah,
I'm just with you. I thought the production production, excuse me,
it was really poor. You know, I don't know if
they don't do a good enough job telling the stories.
The other thing too, which which I think is a
fair criticism at this point, Yeah, how is Sham's reporting

(48:09):
a trade? And it doesn't get announced until thirty five
minutes later? And you know, like you got to go
up and take the picture with the hat and then
you don't end up on that t That's another thing.

Speaker 4 (48:19):
The wrong hat, right, that's another thing that bothers me,
of course.

Speaker 5 (48:22):
Yeah, And like you know, there are sometimes where, you know,
people complain about stuff on social media.

Speaker 4 (48:26):
But like I will say, as somebody who wasn't, like
I wasn't. I didn't. You know, again, I was on vacation.

Speaker 5 (48:30):
I didn't have to write an article, I didn't have
to come on Fox Sports Radio whatever.

Speaker 4 (48:35):
It was hard.

Speaker 5 (48:36):
Like Leah McNeely, Yukon Husky always drafted by the Phoenix
Suns has a son's hat on. Oh no, no, he's
actually a Charlotte Hornet. You know, the Cedric Coward, not
Colin Coward. Cedric Coward gets drafted by the Blazers and
then it's like, oh, bud, he's actually going to Memphis.
Walter Clayton gets drafted by this team and he's actually
going to Utah. So it's just among the many things,

(48:56):
it's just like I don't know, like like I feel
like that's.

Speaker 2 (48:58):
An NBA problem, not a out of ESPN problem. That's
not their thing.

Speaker 5 (49:02):
I was gonna say like I think sometimes everybody, including me,
it's too easy to pile on Adam Silver, But there
are so many small, fixable things that you could do
to help the product, and he just doesn't some of
the NBA Finals stuff with the court appearance and all that.
And then I thought the same with the draft on Satday.
As far as the production and stuff, Yeah, I thought

(49:23):
it was terrible. You know, I said this on my
show last night. I don't even necessarily blame the talent
the people that are on air. I do think you
have a baseline responsibility to try to understand and know
the stories and whatever. But these people were covering the
NBA Finals until seventy two hours before this drafting, So
put on more college people. You know, we don't need

(49:46):
Steven A. Smith on everything.

Speaker 4 (49:47):
Burnt out on him already like everybody else's or what. Yeah,
I mean I think that there's yes, I am.

Speaker 5 (49:55):
I was going to say, like, I think there's a
time and a place, But I think even on the
NBA Draft, on the NBA like cover coverage, it's like
he doesn't bring anything to the table. Like you criticized
Kendrick Perkins for whatever you want, Guy won An NBA title,
Like at least he played in the league for ten years.

Speaker 4 (50:09):
Bob Myers was a GM.

Speaker 5 (50:10):
Steven A brings absolutely nothing and then even less to
the draft where and I didn't watch the feed that
he was on, but I think he pretty openly admitted
that he just didn't know stuff about the vast majority
of the people that were being drafted.

Speaker 2 (50:23):
We were more interested when we had six rounds in
the NBA, but that's because more guys, I mean, they
stayed the four years. They didn't play the freshman year,
and you know, stayed around their sophoboard, junior and senior year.
Even when they got to play the freshman year, they
stayed around for all four years, so you.

Speaker 4 (50:39):
Were more familiar with them.

Speaker 2 (50:41):
A lot of these guys you're just not familiar with,
and a lot of them now are overseas guys, so
you're definitely not familiar with them in that way.

Speaker 3 (50:48):
Also, Aeron, Well.

Speaker 5 (50:49):
I think the other thing too that happened this year,
and I think it's going to continue to happen, is
even with some of the college guys. Now, if you're
not like a guaranteed top ten, top fifteen, guys are
just going back to college because of nil Oh yeah.

Speaker 4 (51:03):
Absolutely, yes.

Speaker 5 (51:05):
So so the number of guys that are even semi
recognizable names. It'll eventually even itself out because guys are
going to stay longer. But like even in the second round,
like I'll be honest, you know, there's a couple guys
even in the second round that were that were us uh,
you know, college players that I'll be real, I didn't
know much about. You know, we had a uh what

(51:26):
do we have the kid that got drafted out of Liberty.
I'll be real, I didn't know a ton about you know,
you go on down the list, Kobe Saunders from Nevada.

Speaker 4 (51:38):
You know, It's just it's just I don't know.

Speaker 5 (51:39):
It's just an interesting time for for I think the
NBA and college basketball because I think college is going
to fortunately retain some guys, right, But I also just
yet it's it's it's an interesting time to.

Speaker 2 (51:51):
See and it's not like they're going up against anything significant,
so you would think that the ratings would be higher.
They do have to do things a little bit different though.
If you want to make a I'm ads thinking genius one,
I'm an Aaron. Also he's at Aaron Underscore Torres we
talked about Lebron and our number one. You're fed up
with him, you kind of want to see him go.

(52:13):
Have we ever seen a superstar more hated in our
lifetime in any sport that's worse than Lebron? I mean,
the guy is hated and really a lot of it
is kind of unwarranted, is it not? What is it
not that way?

Speaker 6 (52:27):
Or what?

Speaker 7 (52:27):
Eron?

Speaker 4 (52:29):
That's a good question.

Speaker 5 (52:30):
Yeah, I mean listen, I'll you know, listen the cliche
things if you want to defend him or true. You know,
by all accounts, a great husband, by all accounts, a
great father, you know, never been in trouble with the law,
like these are very commendable things.

Speaker 4 (52:43):
And listen, and I'll admit, you know, if I had the.

Speaker 5 (52:47):
World in my palm at eighteen years old, I don't
know that I would have made as good a decision
as he did.

Speaker 2 (52:52):
Of course, no, yeah, absolutely, you'd be driving over a
hundred miles an hour and.

Speaker 5 (52:58):
You know, yeah, so yeah, so I get that part
of it. But he is exhausted. I mean, you gotta
admit exhaustion. Yeah, it's just and you know, the whole
thing with the you know, and I and I think.

Speaker 4 (53:08):
It's because Bronnie with his son or what, well that
was the worst of the worst.

Speaker 5 (53:12):
Is like and you know, and I've said this, Arnie,
and I'd be curious for your perspective. It feels like,
especially this past year, it felt more like a lebron
nostalgia tour than it did a season.

Speaker 4 (53:26):
Like it was like, Oh, Bronnie's gonna play and then.

Speaker 5 (53:28):
It's like, oh, Cleve, we're playing in Cleveland, so we're
gonna bring Bronni there too, And it's like, you know.

Speaker 3 (53:34):
I was waiting for them to bring an old uncle
that he liked or so it's funny.

Speaker 5 (53:38):
I don't know if I told you this, but obviously
his youngest son, Bryce is going to uh Arizzona. Yeah,
and you know, there was obviously a report of you know,
could he stick around for Bryce?

Speaker 3 (53:47):
And it's like one and done.

Speaker 5 (53:50):
All I'm gonna say is, if he sticks around for
Bryce and brings him on whatever team he's on, just
bring on Savannah his wife and have the first ever
husband and wife in the NBA.

Speaker 4 (54:00):
Because it's it's such a sham at that point.

Speaker 5 (54:03):
And it was funny because I was one of the
first people that was like, really outspoken about Bronni Like
opening night, I was like, this is such a sham.

Speaker 4 (54:10):
People were like, you're ruining the moment. I'm like, what moment.

Speaker 5 (54:13):
It's totally manufactured in fake like why do we have
to pretend like it's And then as the season war on,
it's like, oh, this guy's clearly not an NBA player,
and I think, oh, not even close. He physically doesn't
even look I mean he's six', two he's, skinny and,
yeah he wouldn't even be on the.

Speaker 2 (54:31):
Team this year if his name Wasn't. James oh, yeah
he's got a long enough book where they, said you know,
what you really need two, three four years in THE
G league before we want to go ahead and bring
you back. Up but, that uh well, yeah.

Speaker 4 (54:45):
And by the, Way i'll say this.

Speaker 5 (54:46):
Too this is the other laughable part about you, know
we want to compete for championships right. Away it's, like,
well you wasted a draft pick last, year AND i
know it's the second round and how many impact players
are you really getting with the fifty six? Pick but
you did waste a draft pick on a guy that's
not AN nba, player you. Know it's, like AND i
think those are the kind of things that exhaust people's,

(55:06):
like are you about?

Speaker 4 (55:07):
Winning are you about elevating your?

Speaker 5 (55:09):
Son and by the, way if you're about elevating your,
son just say, It just, say, hey, Listen i'm one
of the two or three greatest players of all. TIME
i Think i've earned the right to kind of convince
the organization that my son deserves a. Shot but the
fact that we all have to go around and pretend
That bronni is some legitimate, prospect he's just. Not he's

(55:30):
a six foot one combo guard that's skinny and, small
and you, know he's like the thirty eighth rank prospect
in his high school. Class go back and look at
the thirty eighth rank prospect in pretty much every other
class that they generally don't end up being IMPACT nba.

Speaker 4 (55:43):
Player so, ANYWAY i could go, on and you know
WHAT i want to.

Speaker 2 (55:45):
ASK i don't want to ask who What lebron's legacy,
is BUT i do want to ask you what lebron
Legacy In Los? Angeles what Are waker fans going to
say About lebron when he's? Gone are they going to
say he's one of the top five all Time laker
is the top ten all Time. Laker are they going
to say we love, him we hate to see him,
go or they, say, well he did bring us a,

(56:06):
championship so at least we got. That we kind of like,
him but it never really worked. Out what are they
going to say about him In Los angeles when he's
gone in and what do you Think.

Speaker 4 (56:18):
I'll give my thought and.

Speaker 5 (56:19):
Have i'd actually like to get To saga in on
this BECAUSE i think he's more of an expert THAN i.
Am i'll just say my thing really. Quick i'm not
A lakers. FAN i didn't grow up IN. La Most
lakers FANS i know can't stand him and feel like
he hijacked the. Franchise this was the premier franchise in
THE nba for fifty sixty seventy.

Speaker 4 (56:35):
Years whatever it's.

Speaker 5 (56:36):
Been, now he's hand picking the, coach he's hand picking
the draft, picks AND i think a lot of people
are ready to see him go To. Saga i'd be
curious for your. Perspective, well there was.

Speaker 12 (56:46):
An objectionable discussion on one of the afternoon shows here
about him getting a statue outside the Downtown. Arena, okay,
yes he won a title in twenty, twenty and they
had a good, season and they didn't just win the
time because of the. Bubble they happened to have a
good year up Until march when the league. Stopped, granted
they did benefit from the time off With davis And

(57:09):
Lebron aside from, that exactly what has he done in
seven years as A? Laker because the year before that
they missed the playoffs, entirely the year after that they
got bounce first, round and then the next year they
missed the playoffs. Entirely this past year they lost the first. Round,
yeah the year before that they lost in the first.
Round most of his seven years as A laker have

(57:29):
been completely.

Speaker 7 (57:30):
Forgettable wasn't there a?

Speaker 5 (57:32):
STAT i think The Minnesota series this, YEAR i believe
was the first time that they hosted a game one
as the higher seed At Staples center now twenty. Twenty
obviously the games weren't At. Crypto BUT i believe you're.

Speaker 12 (57:51):
Right because they've been around five hundred so, often, yes
and playing.

Speaker 5 (57:54):
Tournaments So i'm with, you And i'll just, say And
i've said this many, times but LIKE i think the
nation kind of saw it last summer with The Dan hurley.

Speaker 4 (58:03):
Stuff where, like, oh you, know.

Speaker 5 (58:05):
BECAUSE i had some of, You, oh you don't turn
down The lakers if they, Call AND i was, like,
why they're kind of a. Mess AND i only bring
it up because then you see you fly him, out
you low ball them on an.

Speaker 4 (58:16):
Offer is he actually a?

Speaker 5 (58:17):
Candidate are you just doing it to GET, jj you,
know to to pretend like there's a real. SEARCH i
thought that was where The lakers kind of got. Explined
by the. Way that's Beyond. Lebron But lebron, is you,
know it's the focal point of. All we'll get to
more of that Because lebron is so. Polarizing we'll have
more On lebron a little bit later on coming up
next to we'll talk To Todd furman or gambling expert

(58:38):
or gambling.

Speaker 2 (58:38):
Insider that's. Next Aaron torre is in For Chris. Plank
I'm Onie. Spanier this Is Fox Sports.

Speaker 7 (58:45):
Radio all?

Speaker 13 (58:49):
Right?

Speaker 2 (58:49):
Good you think everyone on he span Your Aaron, torres
he's in For Chris. Plank because we're live from The
Fox Sports radio. Studios let's go right to our. Guests
you could check him out To bet The board. Podcast
check him out On twitter At Todd. Furman it's our,
Buddy Todd. Furman are you Doing?

Speaker 13 (59:06):
Todd i'm doing, well AND areni that is a hell
of a rendition Of Viva Las vegas that you guys
are wheeling for. Me so it took me for a
little bit of a, loop BUT i appreciate the setup.

Speaker 2 (59:16):
Nonetheless, yeah WHEN i, drive things kind of go off
the side rails.

Speaker 4 (59:19):
HERE i don't.

Speaker 3 (59:21):
Know we can't see at, Night.

Speaker 4 (59:22):
TODD i. CAN'T i don't know what to. PLAY i
don't know What i'm.

Speaker 13 (59:25):
DOING i, Mean, aaron this is why Typically arnie doesn't
get let out of his house late at. Night so
the next best thing he can do is try and
wreak havoc with the radio microphone in front of.

Speaker 4 (59:36):
HIM i love. It he does it.

Speaker 2 (59:38):
Well he Does, Hey todd Web Costa rica in The United,
states The United states whens.

Speaker 4 (59:42):
It the books lost a.

Speaker 2 (59:44):
Little bit of, money or because of what the penalty,
kicks that didn't lose as much AS i.

Speaker 3 (59:48):
Thought, no always going to be.

Speaker 13 (59:49):
A good result when games of this, magnitude AND i
say that relatively speaking for The Gold cup and kind
of the bless roster that we have competing goes into
extra time or in this case right the penalty kicks
at the. Regulation SO i haven't spoken of books about
the handle on The Gold cup in, general imagine it'll
get ratcheted up a little bit. More ALTHOUGH usa Against,
canada if that was a semi final matchup instead OF

(01:00:11):
usa Against, guatemala would have been. Better and of course
if we do get what most books would love in
the FINAL Usa mexico, matchup that would be the number
that they would look. For and like, always they root
for the game to go past ninety minutes if they
can get regulation to end in a.

Speaker 5 (01:00:25):
Draw dumb, Question but you, know with obviously the four
major sports done until start OF, nfl like obviously it's
a quiet. Time but what are people when they're going
to the books betting on it this time of year
or are they just gearing up for football at this?

Speaker 6 (01:00:39):
Point that is.

Speaker 13 (01:00:40):
A phenomenal question erin and there's not a whole hell
of a, lot that's the reality of. It so people
are looking at parlay some of the bigger favorites In
Major League. Baseball golf has no doubt grown in popularity as.
Well for people to try and bide their time until
we get The hall Of fame game in Early. August
but when you look at the golf, CALENDAR i mean
The Rocket classic and next week To John, deere not

(01:01:01):
exactly needle. Movers so The Open championship in a couple
of weeks will generate some betting, handle and for some
of those diehards out, there they'll Bet wimbledon coming up
as early his tomorrow, morning hoping for some of The
marque names to get into the. Final as a ciner
alcaaz on the men's side would do a big time
number given the essentially the sports desert that we live

(01:01:21):
in during the month.

Speaker 4 (01:01:22):
Of, July, todd do you do this or do you
know anybody that does?

Speaker 2 (01:01:26):
This will tell me about among your gambling, friends BECAUSE
i would think this is somewhat of a busy time
because with free, agency are there guys that will pay attention, Saying,
Oh i'm Hearing jannis is going so and so the
team is twenty five to. One you know they're going
to Get yanna still go to like ten to. One
So i'm going to bet a boatload of. Money WHY
i can still get a bit like twenty five or

(01:01:47):
thirty or thirty to one or something like.

Speaker 4 (01:01:48):
That, WELL i won't quite.

Speaker 13 (01:01:50):
Go a, boatload but there's no doubt a lot of
speculative money that comes into the market this time of
year AROUND nba free agency in THE nhl as, well
trying to figure out if you can land a big
price on a team that inevitably won't be available when
the season. Starts and THE nba dynamic has changed quite
a bit over i'll state the last five to seven,
years because when we were in the previous, era so to,
speak you were looking at the same handful of teams

(01:02:12):
that were legitimate threats to win AN nba. Title now
it's not really the. Case is we've seen seven different,
franchises you, know win The larry O'Brian trophy in seven.
Seasons and it appears that The east is as wide
open as ever next. Season and while we think it's
going to be maybe a two or three horse race
in The, west if you can identify a team like
The Indiana pacers well in, advance never a bad blue

(01:02:33):
chip stock to put in your portfolio and hope you're
able to.

Speaker 1 (01:02:36):
Try and earn off of.

Speaker 13 (01:02:36):
It as we get deep into the twenty twenty SIX nba,
playoffs you, know essentially a year from.

Speaker 5 (01:02:41):
Now, todd you mentioned sports that have changed the last
four or five. Years what has the vibe been on college?
Football because with the transfer, portal you know somebody's. Rosters you, know,
listen most of the heavy portal stuff is in the.
Winter but, guy you, know, Listen Nico iyamaliavas obviously had
a different team than he was three months. Ago how
much do you wait or does the professional gambling community

(01:03:03):
wait to hit or maybe even how much does the
do the books wait to put out over unders and
point spreads For week, one. Etc just because it's such
a fluid sport with the transfer.

Speaker 13 (01:03:13):
Portal, yeah, Honestly, aaron the irony in all of this
is books are putting out win totals earlier and, earlier
despite the volatility and. ROSTERS i, mean what feels like
The Stone. Ages WHEN i was behind the, counter we
wouldn't put out college football win totals other than for
the highest profile, teams and we'd wait until Early august
until rosters were largely. Set now it's a race for
most books to try and compete for share of. Wallets

(01:03:34):
so betters are going to clamor for an extended. Offering
they're going to try and take their, shots hoping that
they can beat some of those early. Numbers but at
the same, time there is an awful lot of group
think as, well so people that'll gravitate towards the, team
Say North, carolina where they may want to fade the tar.
Heels you, know going under seven and a half is
a much different bet than going under six and a
half closer to the, season or like a scenario that

(01:03:56):
we saw on full. Today, unfortunately around the status of
A Mark key quarterback in The big TWELVE byu had
taken a little bit of under money when that window
opened as high as eight and a. Half it was
seven and a half early in the, day and his
stories started to come out About jake Retz lot's availability
and potentially transferring automate. Allegations you see that number get
pulled off the. Board so it's always a rat race

(01:04:17):
from better and book maker trying to figure out who
can get the best of the. Number and you want
to just try and make sure that you're getting your
money in good that you'll be able to earn off
of that ticket one way or.

Speaker 2 (01:04:25):
Another All, Right, todd serious question helped me make sense of.
This Detroit Pistons Guarden Malik, beasley there's. Allegations of, course
that's far different than anything they're proving right. Now my,
goodness how does this? Happen is this going to happen?
More is it because of the prop? Bets the prop
bets that were placed on him for fewer than two

(01:04:46):
and a.

Speaker 3 (01:04:46):
Half rebounds actually?

Speaker 4 (01:04:48):
Lost so does that mean that this is a big?
Mistake what's going on? Here and how often is this
going to?

Speaker 3 (01:04:54):
Happen it's a great.

Speaker 13 (01:04:56):
Question and, unfortunately in a lot of these, cases when
it gets to the public, eye you, know where there's,
smoke oftentimes there's. Fire AND i always say that legalized
sports betting has been the best vehicle to try and
shine a disinfectant at the bright sunlight on some of these,
cases so they can figure out if there's impropriety from
a book. Standpoint but you do wonder when these players

(01:05:17):
will wisen. UP i, mean millions of dollars at stake
for some of these free, agents and here they are
getting involved in gambling in any, Capacity and you do
always wonder are we getting the full scope of the,
picture because when you're looking at a lot of these
player props that are out. There anytime you're placing even
a low four figure, bet it's going to raise red.
Flags it's very difficult to move a lot of money

(01:05:38):
in some of these, markets especially when you're looking further
on down the, lineup whereas marquee players and higher stakes
games not uncommon to see a lot of books, extend you,
know pretty aggressive limits to recreational players that are out.
There so you hope this isn't a recurring. Instance but
every time you, know there's law enforcement or sportsbooks start
to catch onto. It in my, opinion it's not a,

(01:06:00):
negative it's an actual, positive and you hope that you
can set a positive example going forward for any players
that may be tempted by something of this.

Speaker 5 (01:06:07):
Nature All, Right i'm gonna ask a little bit of
a pseudo nerdy, question But i'll get into it. HERE
i don't know how much deep dive you've done in
college football, Yet. TODD i don't get The Garrett nusmeyer. Stuff,
Okay SO i put out this tweet. Today twenty nine,
touchdowns twelve interceptions last year sounds, GOOD lsu quarterback whatever

(01:06:27):
in EIGHT sec, games thirteen, tds eight. INTERCEPTIONS i don't get.
IT i don't get the number one pick. STUFF i
don't get The heisman secondary stuff like what AM i
missing on him.

Speaker 4 (01:06:40):
As a QUARTERBACK lsu as a. TEAM i just don't see.
IT i really.

Speaker 13 (01:06:45):
DON'T i think some of it is the physical. TOOLS i,
mean he comes from AN nfl pedigree with his dad
being in and around the league for so many, years
as you, mentioned getting a tremendous amount of respect in
The Heisman trophy, market second on the, board and a
lot of prominent. Books right, now find only Arch manning
and we'll get to see how Far garrett Nus meyer
has advanced his overall skill set or maybe even regress

(01:07:05):
right out of the, gates all with a very difficult
game FOR lsu on the road At. Clemson and the
one thing we've seen from THE Lsu tiger Since Brian
kelly took, over you can count on your fingers how
many games that they have won in their. OPENER i,
mean every time they seen to step up in, class
whether It's Florida, state whether IT'S usc they haven't appeared
ready for some of the bright lights.

Speaker 6 (01:07:25):
That are out.

Speaker 13 (01:07:25):
There and so it's always interesting as you continue to
get more and more tape on some of these, GUYS i,
think to your, point are you see what Nus meyer
was able to do in the bowl, game albeit against
a Makeshift baylor, Defense optimism starts to reign. Supreme all
but your point is extremely, valid trying to figure out
what a lot of these guys will do when they
step up in class take on elite. Competition we Know

(01:07:46):
Garrett nusmeyer will have his hands full each and Every
saturday throughout the fall running through that sec.

Speaker 2 (01:07:50):
Gaulet all, Right, todd last thing before we let you.
Go AND i know you're an old time baseball.

Speaker 4 (01:07:54):
Fan Dave.

Speaker 2 (01:07:56):
Parker we are, family The. Cobra what a great player
he was. PEOPLE i don't know if people still remember
how good he. Was but my, goodness only a month
before you're supposed to be inducted into The hall Of.

Speaker 13 (01:08:10):
Fame you, know pretty wild when you look at, it
and you do wonder how the Baseball god smile upon
fan base and especially when it's been long star for
a winner like The Pittsburgh. Pirates you. Know this tweet
came out earlier today From Greg harvey about The, pirates
Major league baseball team since nineteen oh, one to score
thirty plus, runs allow four fewer, runs and strike out

(01:08:30):
twenty five plus batters in a three game. Series The
Pittsburgh pirates the only team to do, so and they
did it this. Weekend it's just a mess Ruggling New York,
Metropolitan so go. FIGURE i know you, Boys i'll work
With sunday, shift BUT i WISH i could hold this
Over smith's, said And i'm Sure i'll find a way
to bring it up WHEN i work with those boys
later this.

Speaker 2 (01:08:47):

Speaker 12 (01:09:22):
Sega Dave parker stretch for about five years around nineteen
eighty was just. Superb he was easily one of the
nationally's best players at that little, era including batting titles
and back to back years and gold gloves three straight
years ad four batting. Titles it's on that Same pirates
team that won the seventy Nine World series With Willie,

(01:09:42):
stargel who was AN mvp.

Speaker 7 (01:09:44):
That year as.

Speaker 12 (01:09:45):
WELL i remember they had The pirates win the title
and The steelers win the title the same.

Speaker 3 (01:09:49):
Year oh wow In.

Speaker 12 (01:09:50):
Pittsburgh as For Major League, baseball we have now had
each of the last five days at least three. Shoutouts
we had a team get a shout out, Tonight detroit

Speaker 7 (01:10:01):
Minnesota by the, way.

Speaker 12 (01:10:02):
This is the longest setch shutout streak in the history
of the. Majors five days in a row at least
three team shutouts each. Day tonight's, Winner Trek, schooble last
Year's Cy Young award, winner seven, innings thirteen. Strikeouts he's
ten and. Two HIS era is down to two point
one point. Five The twins offense tonight went two for

(01:10:22):
twenty eight at the plate with fourteen. Strikeouts So detroit
with a record of fifty three and thirty, two same
as The, dodgers who won At Kansas city five to.
One the win to Reliever Justin, robleski who threw six
scoreless innings with six strikeouts FOR. La The royals have
lost seven of. Eight The giants signed Former dodgers Catcher
Austin barnes to a minor league. Deal The White sox

(01:10:45):

got four runs bottom of the seventh After Justin, verlander
who pitched, well left the. Game The White sox have
won two. Straight they're up to twenty eight and fifty,
six and they'll play At Dodger stadium starting on.

Speaker 7 (01:10:59):

In minnesota tonight On FOX. Tv there's also separately this
tournament going on THE Fifa Club World, cup and in
a round a sixteen, Game paris Sonjer man Eliminated miami for.
Nothing here you Have Lionel messi's team In Major League,
soccer a team that shot up to the top of

(01:11:44):
THE mls standings last year after they got messy going
up against the recently Crowned European. Champions four goals in
the first half Against. Miami it could have been worse
for nothing the final four psg is they're Known Byron
munich Advanced by the, way Having messing on your team
is a great advantage if he ever gets to touch the.
Ball if your offense doesn't have, it, well who. Cares

(01:12:07):
and So mark reminded me a little bit of That
Chris plank game where we talked about When oklahoma's offense
was averaging fifty points a game and then they Played
army and the offense never got on the.

Speaker 7 (01:12:17):
Field that was an.

Speaker 12 (01:12:18):
Overtime it's kind of like that With messi and other
people just standing around. Midfield are we ever going to
get the ball on this? Side as FOR us women's,
soccer they're playing three exhibitions in the span of about.

Speaker 7 (01:12:30):
A Week canada this coming.

Speaker 12 (01:12:32):

us beat Him thursday for, nothing outshot him twenty six to,
two and then In cincinnati today THE us beat him
for nothing again playing backups and outshot him twenty five to.

the upcoming free agents starting at six Pm eastern. Tomorrow
So DeAndre ayden is finalizing a buy out With. Portland

(01:13:37):
he'll clear waivers On wednesday and THEN i guess pick
the team after. That but, yes free agency starts.

Speaker 2 (01:13:43):
There it'd be better if they just kept it a
secret and then like That, monday they let everything go
at once or, awesome.

Speaker 12 (01:13:50):
You can just confuse everybody like THE nba does during the.
Draft like you, mentioned this is memphisis. Pick oh wait a,
minute somebody Else's?

Speaker 4 (01:13:57):
Charlotte are they picking For? Memphis put on this?

Speaker 7 (01:14:00):

(01:15:10):
Off always hate when he takes the night. Off he, Says,
Wow i'm trying to be nice here to say.

Speaker 7 (01:15:18):
House Broker Arney spaniard.

Speaker 2 (01:15:20):
Exactly when we missed so far With steve The. Sega
what's going on To?

Speaker 12 (01:15:23):
SEGA i must mention some items in baseball because we
had something that hadn't happened in twenty years. Today there
was a slugger on The Washington nationals that got intentionally
walked four.

Speaker 7 (01:15:32):
Times.

Speaker 12 (01:15:33):
Wow in the same game In. Anaheim washington won in eleven,
innings seven to.

Speaker 7 (01:15:37):
Four over The. Angels james would a good.

Speaker 12 (01:15:39):
Slugger, okay you don't want to face.

Speaker 7 (01:15:41):
Him it's just how it worked.

Speaker 12 (01:15:43):
Out four intentional walks in the same. Game you could
probably guess the last batter that happened to it Was Barry,
bonds which it happened to him four different games in two.

Speaker 2 (01:15:53):
Thousand wait a, minute is there a Story Joe? TORY
i forgot who? Was oh, no it wasn't BECAUSE i
was gonna Say Joe torri hit in the four double
plays because the guy got walked in front of.

Speaker 7 (01:16:05):
Him BUT i was, really, yeah, yeah that's quite the.

Speaker 12 (01:16:07):
Opposite and remember When bonds was like that in round
two thousand and, four wasn't it book? Show walked to
that with basses, loaded even potentially. Walked bond's the last
person to be walked with the bases?

Speaker 4 (01:16:20):
Order was he?

Speaker 2 (01:16:21):
Not or? What?

Speaker 7 (01:16:21):
Intentionally?

Speaker 4 (01:16:22):
Yeah that's.

Speaker 12 (01:16:23):
Crazy, Meanwhile Aaron, judge who's been slumping at the plate,
recently had two homers At Yankee stadium. Today he's up
to thirty for the. Season yanks beat The a's twelve to.
Five Marcus stroman was the winning pitcher five, innings just
one run, aloud So Aaron judge is up to thirty
homers in the season before The All star break for
the fourth time in his. Career that already Ties mark McGuire's.

(01:16:45):
Mark and then you had the weekend either Have oani Or. Judge,
well CAN i get good pitching out Of? Otani IF
i get health out Of, otani then, Yeah i'm taking
that because he can STILL Dh and we'll get to
The dodgers pitching in a. Second they could you a
starting pitcher to say you were In New.

Speaker 4 (01:17:01):
York he'd get beat up for saying.

Speaker 7 (01:17:03):
That by go, Ahead, well it's a legitimate. Answer he can.

Speaker 3 (01:17:05):
Do he can do two, legitimacy have to do.

Speaker 12 (01:17:08):
It, yeah, exactly it's sports talk radio. Exactly, meanwhile speaking,
speak speaking of, illegitimate there's the weekend The mets just went.
Through they have three, straight they've lost thirteen of their last.
Sixteen they could still win this. Division they're only a
game and a half back of The, phillies who won.
Today but The mets lost twelve to one At pittsburgh

(01:17:30):
and this. Weekend the final scores were nine to, one
nine to two, yesterday twelve to one, today and in,
fact in pirates franchise history to win every game of
a series by at least seven. Runs pittsburgh hadn't done
that since nineteen thirty.

Speaker 4 (01:17:46):
Five we're an.

Speaker 12 (01:17:47):
Embarrassment that is how bad it was for The. Mets
that may or may not come up on The Jason Smith.

Speaker 2 (01:17:52):
Show we had a four and app game lead in
first place not too long.

Speaker 13 (01:17:56):
Ago.

Speaker 12 (01:17:57):
Yeah, So, fortunately The phills have not been running away with,
things unlike The, dodgers who did so well like head
to head against The padres. Recently they really got a
bit of a cushion in the N west going into
The All Star, break which is only a couple weeks.
Away we had extra innings every game this weekend For
mariners At, texas including A seattle twelve inning win On
friday and A seattle twelve inning win, today and it

(01:18:20):
was a six to four final At, texas even though
today's game was.

Speaker 7 (01:18:23):
Tied one to one after nine.

Speaker 12 (01:18:26):
Innings as for The dodger, pitching, yes they still have
to say the least a few injuries among the starting.
Pitchers they are without six starting pitchers, currently Including Tyler,
Glasnell Blake, Snell Roki. Sasaki they brought over From, Japan
big so they're pitchers that they.

Speaker 7 (01:18:44):
Used they had.

Speaker 12 (01:18:45):
All bullpen games both yesterday and, today yet again at
this spot in the. Rotation they just tried to Cole Gey,
okay who can pitch the, sixth who can pitch the?

Speaker 7 (01:18:55):
Fourth for that.

Speaker 1 (01:18:58):
They.

Speaker 12 (01:18:58):
Do one of the guys they use yesterday just got cut.
Today so, yeah they just this guy that got the win,
Today Justin, robleski six scoreless.

Speaker 7 (01:19:07):
Innings out of the.

Speaker 12 (01:19:08):
Bullpen he had been in the miners. Earlier so today's
pitchers for The dodgers Were Lou, trevino Then, Robleski Kirby,
yates And Jack dryer and the pitchers that used yesterday
In Kansas. City After Shoho tani pitched the first two,
innings it Was Ben, Casparis Luis garcia who was, Cut Anthony,
bonda and then Infielder Miguel rojas pitched the last. Tenning yes,

(01:19:31):
today it is amazing BECAUSE a they're in first place
AND b they did this last year and still won
The World series just by the thinnest of. Margins people
don't realize that if they hadn't come back stunningly from
that five nothing deficit At Yankee stadium to clinch the
title In New york last, year they would have had

(01:19:51):
to go back TO la for A game. Six they
were out of. Pitchers they had no starting pitcher For
game six in The World. Series and in, fact if
The YANKEES i had been able to tie Up game five,
there the tenth inning would have been pitched By Daniel,
hudson who wound up retiring after.

Speaker 4 (01:20:07):
That game last goodness that.

Speaker 12 (01:20:09):
Night so, yes to say the, least they were out
of pitchers and they're struggling with similar. Things but, Yes
dodgers are leading the.

Speaker 3 (01:20:16):
List what is happening That dodger pitching?

Speaker 4 (01:20:19):
Man unbelieve?

Speaker 2 (01:20:20):
Why thanks To, sega two hours are in the, Books
The Power hour coming up.

Speaker 3 (01:20:25):

in the class and in The Orange theory and the
only person that got invited was.

Speaker 3 (01:24:52):
Me but it was fun. Though it was a good.

Speaker 4 (01:24:54):

good time to her as it would have. Been would

to the? Conclusion is there a? Punchline or? NO i

Speaker 3 (01:25:09):
PARTY i had no idea who she, was AND i went.

Speaker 4 (01:25:13):

who she. Is so you didn't know who she.

Speaker 2 (01:25:18):
Was didn't know who she was when we went to the,
party AND i, thought but she knew who you were
From Orange. Theory, yeah everybody knows me in this. Town

Speaker 5 (01:25:27):
Dude she wants you to handle a. Shovel she wants to.
Drive she wants to shovel your. Driveway, WOW i listen to.
You i'm a big. Deal just ask, Me.

Speaker 4 (01:25:36):

Deal i'm a pretty big deal out? Here all?

Speaker 2 (01:25:40):
Right, look it is the power hour of the show,
show just flying on by until you just brought it
to a grindening.

Speaker 4 (01:25:45):
Hall with that boring.

Speaker 5 (01:25:46):
STORY i brought it to okay, Woman, Yeah Orange, STEER
i don't even know who she.

Speaker 4 (01:25:53):
Is there Was, ben there was. OIL i didn't know
what's going. On it.

Speaker 3 (01:25:56):
Was it was as good as My genie buzz.

Speaker 2 (01:25:58):
STORIES i know that those are your. FAVORITE i know
those are your always your your favorite out.

Speaker 5 (01:26:06):
There so now she's worth like two, Billion are you
guys gonna be rubbing elbows again or?

Speaker 7 (01:26:10):
What?

Speaker 2 (01:26:10):
Yeah because why she was worth ten billion and each
kid gets about two billion.

Speaker 4 (01:26:14):
Dollars is that what you're thinking or? What?

Speaker 5 (01:26:16):
Yeah that was kind of the quick mental you, know
back of the envelope math THAT i was.

Speaker 2 (01:26:20):
Doing, yeah and you, know not only IF i would
have married, Her SUPPOSE i would have married her, Sister.

Speaker 3 (01:26:23):
JENNY i could either.

Speaker 4 (01:26:26):
Way you, know, dude it sounds it sounds like this
party really got your. Mind uh working a million.

Speaker 7 (01:26:31):
Miles Jeannie buss has a sister Named Jenny.

Speaker 2 (01:26:33):
Buss, Yeah, Jeanie, Jenny jimmy AND i And, johnny, Well
johnny AND i forget who the fifth is City.

Speaker 4 (01:26:42):
Bredo it's like the the Last.

Speaker 2 (01:26:46):
Baldwin you never know who that person. Is, yeah there's
like seven of. Them It's, janey according to Uh. SEGER

Geenie jenny And.

Speaker 7 (01:27:03):

Speaker 4 (01:27:04):
Think what the pali WHEN i was. THERE i don't
think she was one of the PALACE i dream Of.
Janie what did you interview her about The? Lakers?

Speaker 7 (01:27:10):
Yeah, yes it was about The. Lakers what you have to?

Speaker 12 (01:27:14):
Say it was for one of those weekend shows her community,
Stuff so she ran community. Stuff oh, okay, yeah it
wasn't AN nba on the, court it Was laker organization.

Speaker 7 (01:27:23):
Interview, okay and of course, yeah Jim johnny all of.

Speaker 2 (01:27:26):
Them she Married Jay, Moore jeanie did other and should

Speaker 3 (01:27:30):

Speaker 4 (01:27:32):
Had the hots For Fox, sports For Fox sports radio.

Speaker 7 (01:27:34):
Hosts she really messed up.

Speaker 2 (01:27:36):
There if you would have said that she got married
from somebody From Fox Sports, radio my name would have
been number one on the, list which it would not have,
been or what it would not have? Been WHAT i
went to high school with?

Speaker 4 (01:27:46):
Her what are you talking?

Speaker 3 (01:27:49):
About what the high school with?

Speaker 4 (01:27:51):
Her why would Not why would my name not be
one on the.

Speaker 7 (01:27:54):
List there are.

Speaker 12 (01:27:56):
A lot of famous women that went to your high
school and you married none of.

Speaker 7 (01:27:59):
Them that is.

Speaker 2 (01:28:01):
True you got me on THAT i didn't have game back.

Speaker 4 (01:28:05):
THEN i didn't you, KNOW i didn't have the.

Speaker 2 (01:28:07):
Gift of gatta about that, ponytail the no, ponytail no
mustache that was later on in, college and.

Speaker 4 (01:28:15):
You saw good that that did?

Speaker 2 (01:28:16):
Me all? Right we got a lot to get to
other talking about my ponytail and.

Speaker 3 (01:28:20):
Mustache you don't mean we.

Speaker 4 (01:28:21):
Start talking about a swing party and it's just brought us.

Speaker 2 (01:28:24):
Off we started the whole show off today talking About.
LEBRON i had an interesting tweet which came so long,
Ago i'll have to find. It but we're talking About
lebron's legacy In Los angeles and how you think Most
laker fans will feel about him now that his time
is pretty much.

Speaker 4 (01:28:44):
Up how is he going to be welcome this?

Speaker 2 (01:28:47):
Year are people going to be a little stand offish
because he's taken that fifty two million dollar opt in
and they know they're not going to win a championship
and he's not going to be back next? Year is
he's still as popular as?

Speaker 4 (01:28:59):
Hell?

Speaker 3 (01:29:00):
Oh are people?

Speaker 4 (01:29:01):
MAD i, mean.

Speaker 3 (01:29:02):
How's it gonna work with The laker fans On lebron this?

Speaker 13 (01:29:05):
Year?

Speaker 4 (01:29:05):
Aaron what do you?

Speaker 3 (01:29:05):
Think i'll say?

Speaker 5 (01:29:06):
THIS i Think lebron is one of the few athletes
that is more popular outside of his own fan base
than within. It, LIKE i think there are still there's
a huge portion OF nba fans that just Love lebron
and forever will and he's their goat and. WHATEVER i
just Think lakers fans are, like, dude you know you.

(01:29:27):
Can't LIKE i said earlier in the, show you, came
you hijacked the, Franchise you forced your son down our,
throat you brought in your podcast buddy to be our head.
Coach but let me let me ask you a, question you,
know because it does feel a little bit like you're
punting on next, season which is surprising to me because
it felt like for most of this.

Speaker 4 (01:29:47):
Season, NOW i personally did.

Speaker 5 (01:29:49):
Not think The lakers were title, contender but it felt
like most of the media was trying to convince us
that they. Were and in their, defense they did end
up with what was, it the two, seed the three,
seed whatever it ended up. Being SO i GUESS i
just bring it up because it feels like you're kind
of being dismissive of that they're just not a title.

Speaker 4 (01:30:07):
Contender, NOW i would say.

Speaker 5 (01:30:08):
If they don't make big, moves especially you, know literally and,
figuratively and they're.

Speaker 2 (01:30:12):
Trying to get a, center but it's not anybody that's
going to make that much of a.

Speaker 5 (01:30:14):
Difference well that's HOW i, feel AND i JUST i,
think more than, ANYTHING i Think luca's got to be in.

Speaker 4 (01:30:20):
SHAPE i just you, know can't be wearing down.

Speaker 3 (01:30:23):
From what we're.

Speaker 2 (01:30:23):
Hearing he's already lost the gazillion, pounds, Right is that
what's going on out.

Speaker 4 (01:30:26):
There or WHAT i Hope, SO i, mean.

Speaker 2 (01:30:28):
They said, no, seriously they said he lost a bunch
of weight since the end of the. Season what's only been,
like what about four? Weeks SO i should take that
back BECAUSE nba playoffs last. Forever but they already said
he's lost a bunch of weight and he's ready to
go for next.

Speaker 4 (01:30:41):
Year they need him to.

Speaker 5 (01:30:43):
BE i, mean, he's you know, what going to make
eventually sixty seventy million dollars over the course of a.

Speaker 4 (01:30:48):
SEASON i hope he'd be in.

Speaker 13 (01:30:49):
Shape.

Speaker 3 (01:30:50):
TWITTER i want to get to.

Speaker 2 (01:30:51):
One danny brought up an interesting one THAT i should
have got to this last. Hour it Says aaron And,
arnie as A laker fan since the, Seventies i've paused
when he. Signed he's a drama queen who had to
open up his clown mouth. Always i'm a huge family of.
Fans we've always said good riddens and. Goodbye when he,

(01:31:11):
Leaves brody.

Speaker 4 (01:31:12):
Must go as.

Speaker 2 (01:31:13):
WELL i should have kind of fixed it up a little.
Bit but he's not gonna be all broken up When lebron.
Goes he's ready to go ahead and move on to
the next. ERA i think Most laker fans are going
to be like. THAT i think they're ready to say
goodbye To Lebron james and move on to The. Luca
are you know WHAT i? Mean that's exactly what it.
Is and we started the show by talking about the.
Extension but then what happens immediately after he takes the.

(01:31:36):
Extension by the, way really quick side, story my wife
comes up to me in the middle of the day to.

Speaker 5 (01:31:41):
Day she, goes, So lebron. Resigned he, resigned like from The.
LAKERS i was, like, no he re. Signed he. Resigned
that's completely. DIFFERENT i was, like you're, sweet but come on,
now let's be. Right so, anyway but, no we open
the show by talking about the fact that about the
fact that he signs the extension and then immediately puts

(01:32:03):
out the statement of, like, yeah if we could get
some better players in, Here and it's, like you can't
have it both. Ways if you think this is a championship, team,
Great if you don't think it's a championship, team you
have two. Choices and if you don't think it's a
championship team you want the team to make, moves you
have two. Choices you can either take less money to
help the team, out or you could just go somewhere,
Else and so it's just those are the kind of

(01:32:25):
things THAT i think where people thin With Lebron.

Speaker 2 (01:32:28):
Aaron when somebody gets fired in, radio they usually don't
let you do a last show because they don't want
you saying anything derogatory or anything bad against. Management lebron's
last year is kind of like him doing his last
radio show after some bad. LOSSES i could See lebron becoming, unplugged, unhinged.

Speaker 3 (01:32:45):
Or whatever word you want to.

Speaker 2 (01:32:47):
Use he should be a good SoundBite after some games
this year In Los, angeles considering he's not coming, back
or is he going to be pretty relaxed about things
and not really?

Speaker 4 (01:32:57):
Care what do you?

Speaker 5 (01:32:57):
Think, WELL i think it's interesting that the the crux
of most of his complaints as A laker have Been Rob,
polinka who is obviously, one he's Obviously kobe's, guy we know,
that and then, two he's been there longer Than. Lebron
SO i Think lebron will be strategic and tactical about
who he, criticizes BECAUSE i don't think he's going to

(01:33:18):
CRITICIZE Jj reddick because that's clearly a direct reflection on
him IF Jj redick doesn't know what he's. Doing, so but, yeah,
NO i think there will be shots at. MANAGEMENT i,
mean what was? It was it the night they lost
in the playoffs that he came to the podium and he's, like,
well you, know i'd ask for, help but my guy
ad asked for, it and they shipped him out of
town the next.

Speaker 4 (01:33:38):
Day like do you remember that? Quote he said something
to that. EFFECT i remember, that, RIGHT i do remember.

Speaker 5 (01:33:42):
That that's, like this guy is such a. Clown, Dude
it's just it's time you had your. Moment you're still,
incredible but it's just time to.

Speaker 3 (01:33:50):
Leave what about the new? Owners you like?

Speaker 2 (01:33:52):
HIM i, mean look what he's done for The. Dodgers
what The walters? Group and can you build Around? LUCA
i MEAN i think he's a great, player but is
he going to guy that's going to get you another?
Championship that's the well you made the finals two years?

Speaker 4 (01:34:04):
Ago yes he.

Speaker 5 (01:34:05):
Did So, NO i think the thing About walter you, know,
LISTEN i only know what you. Know it's, public but the,
dude you know obviously completely you, know redid The dodgers
at a time where they needed, it AND i think
he's going to take back control From, lebron back control
from the, players.

Speaker 2 (01:34:23):
And i'll say this is ed he should rightfully should
one hundred.

Speaker 5 (01:34:26):
Percent and as a guy who is In Los, angeles
like the city is more fun when people are behind The,
lakers AND i feel like it is a very divided
fan base right. NOW i think a lot of people
are die. Hards they're always going to, Believe they're always
going to hope for the. Best AND i think there's
other people that are waiting For lebron to. Leave SO
i think it'll be a plus when he ends up
leaving and When.

Speaker 2 (01:34:47):
Luca now takes on, OVER i think it's going to
be better than. EVER i, MEAN i Think luca is
a great. Player obviously they're gonna need some help around.
Them they need that second phenomenal. Player what's gonna happen The.
Reeves SO i don't really expect him to sign with The.
LAKERS i don't think they're gonna give him the big, money.

Speaker 5 (01:35:07):
Isn't There like he opts out so that he can
op back in or something like.

Speaker 2 (01:35:10):
That way you can get more, money or you can
get into a four year contract with a lot more,
money AND i thought he deserved a lot more. Money
people kind of laughing at, him, saying.

Speaker 4 (01:35:21):
How could you give that type of money to somebody like? Him?
YEAH i like.

Speaker 5 (01:35:24):
HIM i like, Him BUT i, mean if he's your
third best, player can he win a championship with?

Speaker 7 (01:35:28):
Him you?

Speaker 5 (01:35:28):
KNOW i, mean what was what Was okayse's third best?
Player Chet holmgren. LOUDORT i, MEAN i don't.

Speaker 7 (01:35:34):
Know it's just.

Speaker 4 (01:35:37):
He does nothing for.

Speaker 5 (01:35:38):
ME I i it's tough, because like if he wasn't A,
LAKER i don't think people would, care, Right but if
he wasn't A, laker you, know if he wasn't a
guy that could be the Third but it's hard to.
Explain but, like he's clearly the third best player on that.
Team but if he was the third best player on
a similar, team if he was the third best player

(01:36:00):
The Houston, rockets like nobody would talk about him the
way that they. Do they talk about him because he's A,
laker all.

Speaker 2 (01:36:05):
Right and one other, THING i want to get to
The New York. Knicks we talked about this In hour number.
ONE i guess they reached out To Dawn. STALEY i
don't think they ever had any interest in hiring. Her
i'm not sure which direction they're going to. Go there
are four coaches that are available that have WON nba.
Championships this whole thing is turned into with the backle

(01:36:25):
but the Down staley. RUMORS i think that's. Crazy she
is no ties to THE. Nba she didn't, play she didn't.
COACH i think her attitude certainly would be clashing with
the reporters and probably the players.

Speaker 3 (01:36:43):
TOO i don't think she'd.

Speaker 2 (01:36:44):
Get along as swimmingly with some of the players as
you would, think AND i don't think they would hold
back on. Her also if they were mad at something
she was. DOING i don't think she would take the,
job even if they offered her a bowload of. Money, aaron,
well you.

Speaker 4 (01:37:00):
Know we'll see if if it ever gets.

Speaker 5 (01:37:02):
There SO i am with, you and we talked about
this earlier in the show is AND i truly believe.
THIS i think she's the most coddled person in. Sports
and to her, credit like great coach has won a,
lot so there's not a lot to be critical. Of
but in those moments of, adversity LIKE i, said it's
it's a lot of excuse. Making it's a lot of,

(01:37:25):
uh you, know victimhood, stuff and we.

Speaker 4 (01:37:27):
Went through it.

Speaker 5 (01:37:28):
Earlier but you, know they lose TO iowa in the
final four as a heavy. Favorite this was obviously the
next year they avenged, it but the year before they
lost in the semi. Finals that was the year That
iowa lost TO lsu in the championship. Game And Dawn staley, immediately,
oh you, know you guys called us bar room, brawlers
and watch what you. Say we know what you say about,
us and blah blahlah, blah and it's like that's not an.

Speaker 4 (01:37:50):
Insult calm.

Speaker 5 (01:37:51):
Down and then, oh by the, way you know earlier
This march AND i guess it would have Been april
at that, point they play you count in the final,
four and and you, know they ask her about what
a championship would mean For Paige becker's, legacy and she.

Speaker 4 (01:38:05):
Immediately defaults, to, well what about my?

Speaker 5 (01:38:07):
Team and it's just, like you, KNOW i just find
and THEN i just also feel like people in the
public don't let you be critical of. HER i, Mean i've,
obviously you, know when they, lose you, know sent out
some tweets or said some stuff on radio or, whatever
and people are, like oh my, god where was this
when she was?

Speaker 4 (01:38:23):
Winning it's, like, well she's not winning, though she just.

Speaker 5 (01:38:26):
Lost and you, KNOW i actually think the ultimate compliment
that you can give her is to criticize her no
differently than you Would Dan hurley after a loss. Exact
and it's, like you can't talk about her like, that
why not screwed up as a. Coach i'm just criticizing
her as a, coach so you, know SO i, LISTEN
i think she's a great. Coach BUT i think the

(01:38:47):
other thing too, is you KNOW i would say this
about a men's coach as. Well IS i just also
am always worried about any college coach that has won
like the, vast, fast vast majority of their, games coming
to the pros and having to deal with the situation
where you're gonna. Lose you, know even in THE, nba
even a good team loses twenty five thirty games a.

Speaker 3 (01:39:09):
Season, Absolutely so.

Speaker 4 (01:39:11):
It would be.

Speaker 5 (01:39:11):
INTERESTING i almost want to see, it just Because i'd
be curious to see like how she would be, treated
what we could, say what we couldn't, say that people
would get mad about what would happen when she and
a player get in a shouting. Match what would happen
when The New York city media criticized a play call
or a play design or.

Speaker 4 (01:39:29):
Something but to your, POINT i don't think it's gonna.
Happen all, right He's Aaron, Torres I'm Arnie.

Speaker 3 (01:39:35):
Spaniard he's in For Chris.

Speaker 4 (01:39:36):
Plank when we got, back let's get to SOME.

Speaker 3 (01:39:38):
Nfl we'll also get to some of the.

Speaker 2 (01:39:40):
Tweets oh that's coming up next right here On Fox Sports.

Speaker 4 (01:39:44):
Radio all, right good ething, Everyone Arnie.

Speaker 2 (01:39:49):
Spanier Aaron torres in For Chris plank on This sunday.

Everybody not a cool. Thing you're not into the, dead are?

Speaker 4 (01:40:39):

Speaker 4 (01:41:10):
Kicked you, KNOW i might go when they go To
tucson next.

Speaker 5 (01:41:12):
Year, Also arizona opens opening night against the defending Champion
Florida gators In. Vegas get. A i ALMOST i will
almost certainly be. There you always talk about how bad
do you want to get out To? Vegas? Iowa sam
just got. Back he says he wants to go. Back
you and him should meet, up you know real?

Speaker 4 (01:41:30):
Quick, yeah, Okay i'll work a couple of wild and crazy.

Speaker 3 (01:41:33):
Guys. You you, KNOW i go To.

Speaker 4 (01:41:36):
VEGAS i have. FUN i don't know what you guys.

Speaker 2 (01:41:38):
DO i look At iowa saying with the pictures there
and it's, Like i'll drink.

Speaker 4 (01:41:43):
You to the, table old, man five shots and you'll be. Out.

Speaker 2 (01:41:47):
Yeah PROBABLY i don't need five shots to be out
there real. Quick, Then, TORRES i gave you that story
about THE ncaa.

Speaker 4 (01:41:54):
Tournament what what the hell's going? ON i, mean how.

Speaker 2 (01:41:57):
Many teams do they whether they want to have a
tea tournament for the teams that are like sixty five
through seventy.

Speaker 3 (01:42:04):
Eight and narrow.

Speaker 2 (01:42:05):
IT i don't know how many teams do they want
to add and they want to do it this, year
right or?

Speaker 4 (01:42:10):
What, yeah reports are it could be as early as this.

Speaker 5 (01:42:13):
YEAR i think based on how the reporting is coming,
out it's going to. HAPPEN i think they're trying to
leak it to get people to so by the time
it actually, happens it's not a big deal and it's
just sort of.

Speaker 4 (01:42:24):
Accepted so how many teams are they going to?

Speaker 5 (01:42:27):
Have they would add, eight so that obviously would put
it to seventy. Six so seventy six minus sixty four
that means there'd be twelve teams that are not part
of that main, bracket and it means that there would
be six games on That Tuesday wednesday, Total so right

(01:42:47):
now there are currently my, goodness.

Speaker 4 (01:42:49):
Yeah so there was four.

Speaker 2 (01:42:51):
Games so they're trying to play up the early playing
games is what you're trying to tell.

Speaker 5 (01:42:55):
Me, Yes AND i actually Thought Dan wetzel FROM espn
did a very good column on, it where it's it's
the weirdest, Thing arnie because a couple. Things no one's
asking for. It this isn't something that like the fans
are clamoring. For AND i remember for years you AND
i got into debates about college football playoff. EXPANSION i

(01:43:16):
didn't want, it BUT i can't deny. THAT i would
say the vast majority of college football fans wanted expansion
in college, football, Right but college basketball fans don't want.
It you know, Why, Arnie because if your team isn't
good enough to make a field of sixty, eight you
want your team season to be.

Speaker 4 (01:43:33):
Over it's a money grab, Though that's what it's all,
about you.

Speaker 5 (01:43:36):
Know And wetzel's column brought up this great point of
it's not like those it's not like those games are
crazy well, rated And i'll be, honest you, KNOW i
had read some reports early AND i don't know if
things have. CHANGED i don't think THE tv partners were
excited to pay more for those. Games and so, listen

(01:43:58):
WHAT i would say, IS i think there are ways
that if they're going to do, it that you could
make it a better. Product first of, ALL i think
you should take if you win your conference, TOURNAMENT i
think you should be in that main field of sixty
four bracket that starts On, thursday, Right and so, yeah
if we're gonna have all these extra, teams then have

(01:44:18):
the at large teams fight it out to get into
the main bracket that's one and then. Two and this
is to, me the especially frustrating part is we're already
in a situation where the power conferences have so many.

Speaker 4 (01:44:30):
ADVANTAGES i, Mean, arnie.

Speaker 5 (01:44:32):
Fourteen out of sixteen teams in THE sec made THE
Ncaa tournament last, year.

Speaker 3 (01:44:38):
Which was, crazy absolutely.

Speaker 5 (01:44:40):
Correct and so it's, like do we need more big ten?
Teams do we need MORE sec? Teams do we need
More big twelve? Teams it's, LIKE i KNOW i just said,
it but if you're not good at those.

Speaker 4 (01:44:49):
To get the mid majors in is what we should just.

Speaker 5 (01:44:51):
Doing, yeah and that's a great you, Know, listen everybody, says,
oh nobody actually cares when the mid majors make a,
run and you want the big.

Speaker 3 (01:44:57):
BRANDS i agree with.

Speaker 5 (01:44:59):
That but WHAT i will say, is you know, WHAT
i don't want the fourteenth team in The Big.

Speaker 4 (01:45:04):
Ten, okay the fifteenth team in THE.

Speaker 5 (01:45:06):
Sec if you're, finishing how about, This, arnie this past,
year you could look it up And Iowa sam might
actually remember. This nebraska was on the bubble until they
lost To, iowa which Eliminated nebraska from The Big ten.
Tournament The Big ten tournament only took fourteen, TEAMS i
believe it was they took fifteen out of. Eighteen thank

(01:45:29):
You Iowa. Sam, No neebraska was on the bubble and
couldn't even qualify for their own conference, tournament but they
were about to get into THE ncaa. Tournament so this
is where we're at in the, sport and everything is
so skewed in favor of the major conferences. Already we
don't need More power conference teams getting into that. BRACKET
i just absolutely Hated.

Speaker 2 (01:45:50):
ARNIELY i agree with you now we needed it in,
football and once we got, it we needed.

Speaker 4 (01:45:54):
More four was never going to be. Enough you know,
that don't? You and you know twelve mean, no we many?

Speaker 2 (01:46:02):
More, yeah, yeah, More we needed, more you. Know and
then they get to twelve and we need more than that.
TOO i think sixteen is the perfect number of teams
to go into the turner Into arizona's football. Playoffs, buddy that's,
okay but that you, know that's that's the perfect the
battle as far As i'm. Concerned But i'm okay with
what they have right. NOW i just think it's crazy

(01:46:24):
we keep adding teams in. Basketball they're doing it for
a money. Grab they want those early games to have
a little bit of money because kind of a little
bit of interest before we get into the serious. Stuff
we'll see how it plays, out but they are going
to do it, Right, torres it.

Speaker 4 (01:46:38):
Is it is gonna happen this year Is and then All.

Speaker 5 (01:46:40):
I'll tell you is That Pete amil And Ross ellinger
FROM espn And yahoo are the two pre eminent insiders
in college, sports like the ones that break all the.
Stories they both reported. It they both reported that a
decision was. Coming they reported it within minutes of each.
Other so somebody is stretrategically leaking them. Information AND i

(01:47:02):
think they are leaking them information so that when it
actually comes people won't be. Surprised BUT i think it's
one of the dumbest things, Going.

Speaker 4 (01:47:10):
ARNIE i really.

Speaker 2 (01:47:10):
Do by the, Way cheetah sends a, tweet, says, Fine
i'll follow. YOU i have you on in the, background
and shake Down street keeps cutting through to be, Clear
i've enjoyed you for a while and.

Speaker 4 (01:47:21):
That was just the tipping.

Speaker 5 (01:47:23):
Point so was that the guy that listened to you
in ninety seven and ninety eight and couldn't find you after?

Speaker 2 (01:47:27):
That so can't you play a Different Grateful dead? Song
what About fire.

Speaker 3 (01:47:32):
On The mountain or something like? That do you Have
fire on The?

Speaker 4 (01:47:35):

DARRYL i can't you had game back?

Speaker 13 (01:47:42):
Then?

Speaker 2 (01:47:43):
Arnie?

Speaker 3 (01:47:43):
YES i.

Speaker 4 (01:47:43):
Did come. On, now you've never all CAPS N E
V E r had? Game that's that or? Now not?
True not?

Speaker 5 (01:47:52):
True beth has. Game she swooped you, up she used
your she used to have, Game BUT i really don't
know how much game she needed to get you off
the discount.

Speaker 6 (01:48:02):
