Speaker 1 (00:01):
The Dan Patrick Show has produced a lot of truly
incredible moments. Gottleib took a pot of the face, shameful moments,
speaking Rubio as a stud, inspiring moments. McK lovin bench
press a category we call Fritz moments. What's a job?
But this moment right now is the one that could
change your life forever. I do have something that's gonna

(00:22):
change your life. You go to Dan Patrick dot com.

(01:00):
Ah thanksgiving a time to be thankful. Isn't this supposed
to be a thankful show. We're thankful for a lot
of things. For time off, for food, how about turkey sandwiches,
man for football, and for stand up guys like Jason
McIntyre and Will Blackman. Why you ask, because while Dan
and the Danets are off, they have stepped up to

(01:22):
fill the void. And that's one of the most generous
things that anybody's ever done. For this show. Broadcasting from
the Mercedes Man Cave. Two good guys, Jason McIntyre and
Will black Man, who said my name like that. I
don't know. Wow, what an introduction that was. Happy Thanksgiving everybody.

(01:45):
I am Jason McIntyre. He is well black Then we are.
We made it through the rain way. We made it
through the rain. Yes, especially being out here to LA.
Everybody's met out of paper. It could be two cars
on the road and they're still traffic. It felt like
a tsunami this morning. Oh my goodness. I mean the
highway was flooding. People in l a panic during the rain.
I see some laughter here in the studio. Uh, It's

(02:08):
Thanksgiving Day. I'm very excited. I'm thankful for a million things.
Thankful to be hosting today. No question. We found out
and I was excited when I saw you that Fox
the other day. I was like, And then Will told
me I'm gonna unfollow you on Twitter Jason, because I
said something hot. I was coming in hot, Will, and
we got some good takes. I threatened and follow you
did you did on the walk away? I thought, I

(02:29):
the topics. I don't know if I am I need
to follow you back. Yeah. So I know, I don't
think you actually followed through on it. Um, But so well,
we got a lot of options for Thanksgiving. That's a
great football today. I thought you meant food. I'm sorry
as well. My table is gonna be overflowing. Uh. We
got some college football rivalry talk um, Ohio State Michigan,

(02:50):
the Iron Bowl down South. Um. But I think we
should start with what we saw last night. Uh. This
old man in the NBA, this thirty four year old guy,
uh spearheaded an incredible comeback his new teammate, this gentleman
with the Uni Brow had a phenomenal gabe at forty one.
And the Lakers Will Blackman our sixteen and two best

(03:14):
record of the NBA. They got a new coach, new
starters everywhere, and the Lakers they're not load managing Lebron.
I gotta say this is one of the more impressive
starts I've seen to Lebron's career. I'll tell you what,
when you when a superstar is motivated, it is extremely
dangerous and not to not to switch at the football.
But you see that every time with Tom Brady, Like

(03:35):
long as he long as he's motivated, he's good. And
the biggest thing is Lebron is healthy. Uh. He took
offense to everyone said he's not playing defense and also
a man after my own heart. He attributes all this
to a glass of wine. Gotta love Lebron. What I
love most and what I'm thankful for about Lebron is

(03:56):
the theme of reinvention. Will. I mean, this is a
guy who was a scoring sheen earlier in his career,
triple double machine. You know, he's leading the NBA and
assist right now. I just think that's pretty phenomenal. People said,
Lebron camp play point guard. That's gonna be too much
wear and tear on him. Think they don't have a
point guard, Danny green Rondo. None of these guys can
run point. Lebron just stepping in, averaging a league high

(04:18):
eleven assists per games is I don't want to go overboard, Will,
but every time I'm watching him and I you know,
I have a Saturday show on Fox Sports Radio and
producer here today, Gavin. He knows I am very excited
about these Lakers. Will. To me, it feels like this
has headed toward. Lakers dispatched Kauai in the playoffs, they

(04:43):
win the championship. I think they'll beat Boston. I don't
know if you like the Bucks. And we're headed towards
Lebron having now three championships, three different teams, and if
he's Finals m v P, it'll be him or Anthony Davis.
Nobody in NBA history has been a three I'm Finals
winner with three different teams. And that's when we really

(05:04):
actually have the Lebron versus Jordan discussion in earnest. It's
probably gonna dominate next summer. That's huge. That's that's very
difficult man. And I always take into account obviously I'm
a big you know, I always have a Jordan over Lebron,
But I was taking to account that Lebron never had
Phil mm hmm. He's got Frank Vogel, he got Lebron.

(05:29):
He Lebron is the coach, Lebron is the GM, Lebron
is the executive. Lebron is the CEO. Lebron is his
own corporation. And they in l A knew getting Lebron,
you're getting an entire corporation, you get everything that comes
with it, and it's gonna take a little bit for
him to cater it to get to where he needs
to be and gets it done. You know, it's it's funny.
On the way here, I was literally thinking, um, just

(05:51):
about once again, I keep bringing it back to football,
That's what I done. Um, I keep bringing it back
to like Tom Brady, you know how he yes, he's
to go what have you. But I look also at
what Payton Manning has done in terms of taking two
teams to the Super Bowl four times. You know what
I'm saying. Yea, And once again, he's a type where

(06:13):
he had to go somewhere. He brought his own people,
he brought his own style offense, he brought his own
thing and had be caden to what he needed. It
took a little bit for him to get started and
it went on in one So you mentioned Brady Peyton.
Can I toss and Drew Brees and and pivot a
little bit to the old man aspect of sport. The
old guys are dominating, right, I know. The NBA is
supposed to be a young man's sport and Luca don

(06:35):
Che just killing it with the mask. But let's give
a shout out to the old guys. The dad's out there,
Lucas Lamar, right, Luca Lamar on on the come up.
But I mean, right now, you know Brady, and Brady
hasn't looked great. We will get to this what but
what's weird? Though he's he's fifth in passing, I know,
like situations, situational wise, right like the key moments. He's

(06:57):
not like he seems not afraid of him. Right now,
he's complete of percentages at about a five year low.
His yards per attempt is at a seventeen year low.
It's a lot of dinkin difference. And then he'll argue, well,
I don't have gronk. All my receivers are heard. I'm
throwing to this rookie I who nick kill Harry out
of the pack tool. Nobody heard of him, you know.
Um Brady continues to do it and Drew brees you

(07:20):
know again, people want to knock his arm strength. Michael
Thomas just catches everything everything. I think he's let's give
a shout out to the old guys on this Thanksgiving.
You know, I am consider myself, you know, hashtag dad life.
I joke about dad life a lot. Not exactly old, um,
but I passed my prime. That's obvious prime. I just

(07:46):
I just heard thirty five and I feel damn good.
What can you still run a sub I'll need, I'll need, like,
give me a month. Yeah, you gotta. You gotta get
warm up. You can't just go out there and run
the forty. But I was watching some Will black Ben highlights.
I mean, dude, the wheels this guy had. I was more.
I was more like East and West. I was more agility.

(08:07):
That was my thing. And then if I need to, like,
I used to get chased by stray dogs a lot
as a kid, and I is a real story. Yes,
that's what Yeah, that's what it was. We used to
go in the neighborhood and play like silly games like
we were my friends would open the door and let
the dog run out, and we will all just run.
So I just got used to return and punts by
getting chased by dogs. Don't try this at home. Yeah,

(08:29):
I do not recommend that. But where'd you grow up again, Providence,
Rhode Island. I've never been there, but I've heard good things. Yeah, well,
a lot of colleges in the area. Yeah, you know
you're brown there, you know your rise in the area.
Great Italian food, um, yeah, and the mob exists. I
didn't say something like that you know. So that's how

(08:52):
you ended up at Boston College. Okay, that was a
big That was a big part of it. Yeah. It
came out of a couple of schools, but I was
just familiar with them. My brother went there. So because
of the speed factor. Did you get recruited by any
SEC schools? I did not have any. No, I had
Big ten acc Actually, yes, Tennessee. I was the only one.
The Phil Fulmer was there. They came in late because

(09:15):
I played in that U S. Army game and played
very well, and they came in. My dad answered the phone.
He was like, you got a call from this this
former guy. I was like, dude, yeah, um well, I
wanted to bring up college and football because I'm fascinated
by two matchups this weekend the Ohio State Michigan and

(09:38):
of course Auburn Alabama. And you played high level football. Okay.
And we just talked about Lebron. Every time he goes
into the arena, he's in front of people who are like, hey, listen,
I paid a lot of money. I want to see
Lebron put on a show. I cannot fathom, as a
guy who didn't play big time sports, what it's like
for some of these athletes. We got an Alabama quarterback. Now, uh,

(09:59):
this kid mac Jie, I know very little about him,
but you go to Alabama, you gotta be a three
four five exactly right. He's going into the iron ball
and there's no pressure, dude. You just need to win
by twenty five to help at Alabama get to the
college football playoffs. I mean the pressure ever get to
you will is a big time athlete like well, you know,
oh boy, spotlights on. You know this is the Gate

(10:22):
Boston College. Maybe who who was a big oh? I
mean at the time, the big East was at Miami.
You have Virginia Tech. You know, you have West Virginia,
Vick Virginia had markets. Actually know, my my biggest game
actually um was against Pitt It was life fish Gerald,
you know exactly. Remember I had a paper do that
week and receiver in NFL history. Yeah, you know, just

(10:43):
whatever that week and my teacher want to come any slid.
BC is not a football school. Just letting you guys, Wow,
it's gonna hurt recruiting. Um all good. So yeah, in
terms of the pressure for me personally, you know, I
once again I mentioned I went from Rhode Island, so
no one ever watched us, no one paid attention to
anybody in Rhode Island. So I always had to go

(11:03):
out and go after it. I had to take advantage
of every opportunity. So um, I ended up having this
thing where the more difficult the situation gets, like the
more fun I had. So it was always do your
rise to the occasion. Yeah. I always played up and
played better in bigger situations and just embraced it. I remember,
you know Atlanta's playing today, right, So when I got

(11:26):
released from Seattle and went to the Redskins, I think
my second game I was starting, and I had to
go against Julio. And this is when he already had
like he was going off that year consecutive two hundred
yards receiving and and I knew the media was gonna
come to my locker because they're like, hey, you know,
you got Julio this week. They want to hear some
sound bites, and I'm like, listen, if i'm if I'm

(11:49):
you know, a Fantasy owner or whatever, like yeah, of course,
that's a that's a feeling. I'm like, he's like a
creative player. I said, so yeah, but I said, I'm
gonna have fun this week. But mentally for me, I
couldn't wait to match up. I always want to see,
like how do I measure up? I was so curious
and so yeah I played that week. I think, should
I go check the box scores? You can't. Did he

(12:09):
do anything? I think he had like sixty that's a
lockdown for you. What a victory. And I want to
I wanted to kind of bring it to pressure because
you know, will Lebron when we started the segment, you know,
Lebron really faced a lot of pressure last year trying
to carry Alonzo and Brandon Ingram and those guys, and
he didn't deliver, and you could just feel the negative

(12:30):
energy from everywhere in the media. Well, Lebron's done. He
he got injured, he can't do anything with his team.
And this is a guy who rises to the top. Yeah,
he said pressures. I mean the guy was on the
cover of Sports Illustrated when he was I think sixteen,
the Chansen one, and every single time the pressure was on,

(12:55):
Lebron delivers. Now there is one and I know the
listeners out there, Nash Jallas Mavericks, Dallas Mavericks Finals, Lebron
shrunk against J. J. Barea or when he passed the Georgia,
you know, and that's right, he kicked it in and
and then he missed a shot. I'm sorry, guys, Lebron
is thirty four and a half years old. I will
not stand for the Lebron slander after another tremendous If

(13:18):
you watch the game last night and I'm telling you
they're down I think it was sixteen in the second half.
The dude, he would just take over the game and
the guys he's playing with, I mean Alex Caruso, by
the way, Alex little white guy that's bald. I was
impressed with Alex bomb. Is that what they call? They

(13:40):
played twenty five minutes. All he did was defend, hustle,
set screens. I love the Alex Caruso stat line. Twenty
five minutes, one for one shooting plus twenty three highest
on the team. When he's on the floor, they're winning,
They're winning, points are winning there. I mean Quinn Cook,
I don't know's quick Cook hurt? He's not even playing.
Caruso pass him in the rotation. Lebron's playing. That's what

(14:02):
I'm saying. Alex Caruso k C P thirty something year
old Dwight Howard. This is ahead, go ahead now no
so um speaking of Dwight hard when um, when they
when it was rooms that he was going to go there,
I thought it was gonna be a good thing. And everyone, yeah,
everyone went off. I mean, like, you gotta be kidding me.

(14:22):
But I was like, but you have to understand just
just certain players and Lebron what he does. He elevates
everyone's play. That's what it is. You know, he's he's
well liked, and he elevates everyone's playing. And I was like,
this could be a good move. This actually will be
a good move for Dwight to resurrect his career, you know,
to go somewhere where you have zero pressure because if

(14:45):
you don't do well, then that's what everyone expected. I
just looked this up. Lebron is going to be assuming
he wins the MVP award, he will be the oldest
m v P in NBA history. Since it looks like
Karl Malone in ninety nine, now this is kind of weak.
Karl Malone was the MVP strike short and season. Now

(15:06):
I've got to be careful what I say Aboutkarl Malone.
Obviously he uh tends to fly off the handle. He
was the m v P in nine nine and he
was not amazing. He averaged twenty three and nine, Like,
I mean, that's a good season, but Lebron. Lebron's destroying that.
Lebron's at twenty five eleven assists, seven rebounds. He's not

(15:30):
load managing me, load managing to me. Will that's the
most impressive things so far. When you got Kawhi Leonard,
who everybody out there wants to ball wash. I hope
I can say that all the show. I mean seriously,
it's like Kauai wins the championship with Toronto in the league.
Like that, the Warriors entire team was injured. Okay, Kauai

(15:52):
got a little lucky. Let's have been Sometimes it works
out that way. Football, Yes, yes, I picked the car
used to be New England. How did I know if
it was? Um? But yeah, like what Lebron has done
without load managing in an earraw where everybody wants to
sit out back to backs, Lebron's like, nope, I can

(16:13):
sit out on our next off day. You know, I'm
impressed by Lebron James. I think we gotta give it up.
Do we have an applause button here, Chris, can we
get an appause for Lebron James to start the show
for just how incredible he's been to start fuse, he's
a Detroit Pistons fan. Here we go a little applause

(16:34):
for my man, Lebron James. And listen, I'm not one
of these Lebron guys who just sweats him everything he does.
He's not infallible, none of us are. I'm a Steph
Curry guy myself. And when Curry has a bad game, Yeah,
he had a bad game. What about when the season
is over and you sit out? What is your take
on that? What do you mean when this season last year?
Who Lebron? Well, he was injured, right, Okay? Should he

(17:00):
play through injury when they're out of the playoff? Right?
Jason games with wine in hand. That's pretty He came out,
he did well. He probably had a glass of for truce,
which is highly saw that. Here we go with the wine,
a lot of fruity notes and that that wine there. Uh,
we're going to do the show from wine country tomorrow.

(17:22):
Um so I guess uh so we said enough positive
things about Lebron. Will I just want to give your
heads up. I've started to not go on social media
during the show because it's just a torrent of negativity
you're gonna have only it's Thanksgiving. But that's but that's
we're supposed to be happy. No, But here's the thing.
You you embrace it. You embrace the negativity. What was

(17:45):
it Drabinsky when he mentioned we gotta turn on when
the TV is turned off because everyone's talking bad. You
embrace that. That is part of it. You embrace the
negativity and you just you just absorb it and you
turn it into positive energy. That's that's now, that's a
good take because I got to be honest. But I'm
on Instagram. I feel the positive energy. It's not a
lot of negativity. Twitter. You can because they see the

(18:07):
family you get. They all support what's going on. I've
seen you get in after it in the gym. I'm like,
I'm trying to look at the sky. Twitter does not
care about your life. Actually they know your life better
than you do. Twitter is all anger, is just just
a stream of negative You're gonna, I'm telling you, gonna
see it on your k I just I need positive

(18:34):
energy in my life. I don't want to be around negative.
It is positive, like they positive that they're listening. I
can say my dad's favorite food is a hamburger, and
they were like, no way that brisket. Yeah, you can't
tell me. Dipping your French fries and catch up is
like not allowed in certain social media. All right. The

(18:57):
Dan Patrick Show today hosted by Will Black but on
myself Jason McIntyre is brought to you by Mercedes Bench
AMG driving performance coming up next. Obviously, Thanksgiving means football,
a lot of great basketball yesterday last night. I don't
know if we'll watch his college hoops Oregon. How about
that comeback covered for me baby Oregon Seaton Hall. But

(19:19):
I think that rest of the show will probably be NFL.
And it's Thanksgiving, so we obviously have to talk about
the Detroit Lions. No we do not. Jason Garrett and
the Dallas Cowboys. They're playing the Bills. A lot of
reports out there about Jason garrett job security. I even

(19:40):
saw one will that if he's fired, the New York
Giants are interested. I mean, I don't even know if
we could take that seriously. Listen, somebody knows somebody. Jason
Garrett Cowboys are they gonna win today, Will, and I'll
give you our locks. I mean basically, you can rule
your kids Smiths money into what NFL games we're gonna

(20:02):
give out to you later and just double your money
and get double the gifts. This is the Dan Patrick Show.
Jason Garrett. Next here Will Blackman sticking in the studio.
Got that, Travis. I get the goofmus every time. Yeah,
especially when I get off the one on one. I
get goose bumps because I'm tired. Bro. He is Will Blackman,

(20:27):
former NFL cornerback, one of the fastest guys in the
league during his prime. Am Um, I don't think I
could run a sub I think I can run a
sub five forty. I'm just happy. I want a super
Bowl that helps. Oh, by the way, do you like
Marvel Comics? Yeah? Okay. Sebastian Shaw Okay, he's played by

(20:48):
Kevin Bacon. So his powers were if you if you're
thrown anything at him, he would absorb that power and
turn into his own energy and dish it out. Be
Sebastian Show on Twitter. Wow, that is deep. I like
that well, Sebastian. People are gonna be furious at googling.

(21:10):
Who is submuestion. That's a cool uh cool energy to have. Um.
Thanksgiving Day, Happy Thanksgiving to everybody out there. I hope
you're spending with good family or you ditch the family
to listen to us, because we're just so good and
mandatory listens. Um, and we're gonna start talking football now
after you know, good ten minutes on Lebron, fifteen on

(21:32):
Lebron maybe, or maybe you're cooking and you want, you know,
you just want to put something on instead of Christmas music,
or yeah, it's too early for Christmas music that starts Toro.
Like my tree is up, trees up, trees up, lights up,
my whole neighborhood lights are up. Dang, that's usually we
do that day after Christmas or or two days after. Um.

(21:54):
So three NFL games today, Um, I'm not that excited
about Mitchell Robinski versus David Blow of the Detroit Lions. Um,
that's the opener. I'm not now listen. I I spent
the first fifteen minutes of the show talking about positive
energy Lebron and now we get to the Dallas Cowboys

(22:15):
Buffalo Bills and Um, I've never been a huge fan
of Jason Garrett's in game coaching. UM. And now we
have Jerry Jones, the owner of his team, owner's last GM,
going on the NFL network, and here's what he said
about Jason Garrett and the Cowboys. We get great and
I'm in business. I don't have to win the super Bowl.

(22:35):
In business every year, I can come in six and
have a hell of a year. But in this business
you've got to come in first. And so fundamentally, you've
asked for something that's a very narrow wonder to begin with.
I want Jason to get it done. Oh boy, well,
happy Thanksgiving to Jason Garrett, your owner, going on television

(22:56):
and basically saying, hey, we gotta get to a super
Let's start with baby steps. Will What if Jason Garrett
actually beat a team with a winning record, why don't
we start there? That probably is a good jumping off point.
Let's forget about the super Bowl. You know, Jason Garrett
in his playoff career is two and three. UM, he

(23:18):
got lucky to beat the Seahawks last year, who called
an awful game. My guy Schottenheimer, who's done much better
this year, Brian Schottenheimer in Seattle. And then they lost
to the Rams and they couldn't stop the run. Rams
had two running backs go over a hundred. But I
don't know what will are you buying? Is this smart
of Jerry Jones to put this kind of pressure on
Jason Garrett. I think he's been putting pressure on since

(23:39):
he's been the coach. I actually I watched UM that
series All or Nothing when I had the Cowboys, and
you know, after games, the coaches had their meetings and
they go over what happened in the game, and it's
just the coaches. Well, and this one, maybe because it
was on TV, Jerry Jones was in that meeting and
he was running the meeting and Jason wasn't saying much.

(24:01):
And I thought that was interesting, you know, in terms
of who was running the meeting or who's who's doing what.
And he's very very involved. So I think when you
are the head coach of the Cowboys, there's there's pressure alone.
But um, yeah, playing playing in that division, it's it
was interesting just to see how much talent is on
that team, UM and how they've been doing, you know,

(24:26):
not not been going far as they should have been.
Let me go next level. Do you buy this? Do
you believe that Jerry Jones, who has said many times
Jason Garrett is like a son to him. They are
so close. Do you think he would really fire him
if they don't get to the super Bowl, Because I'll
be honest, I'm not buying it. Well, I don't believe that.
I mean, I think everyone's under evaluation. I think it's

(24:49):
that time too, because right now the NFC East is
not strong at all and this is like their time
to capitalize. And I feel like if they don't capitalize
her here and then it's going to be a lot
of questions this offseason for Jerry Jones. But here's here's
my problem with the Jerry Jones situation with Jason Garrett.

(25:09):
The quarterback position. Okay, Dak Prescott, depending who you talk
to a read, has been phenomenal, leads the league in
passing yards this year, put up some good numbers. He
is going to want to get paid in the off
season and he will. What coach it's gonna want to
take this job when you've got to give Dak Prescott
thirty five to forty million dollars a year, Because I

(25:31):
don't know about you will. I don't know if everybody
buys into Dak as a top five or ten quarterback
in the league, and he's gonna be paid like a
top four quarterback in the league. Yeah, I mean, I
think a lot of people do. And I definitely believe
he's earned it this year for what he has done.
You know, I feel like he's doing his partner far
um even even agains the Patriots. He threw out of

(25:51):
a third down throw, I mean fourth down throw to
them or and he dropped it. You know that was
to get him in position. Um. But I definitely believe
that he is and if a new coach does take over,
Doc is more to capable of running any type of offense.
I feel like that. I mean, I'll be honest, I
think the Atlanta Falcons is a better job. You got
Matt Ryan. You've got good receivers. Matt Ryan's not looking

(26:14):
to get paid. Um, he got paid year years ago.
He's not one of the five highest paid quarterbacks going forward.
Um twice he did. Yeah, but when you give Dak
this contract, you're gonna have to lose guys in a
lot of places. And I'm just gonna come out right
now and say it, folks, you ain't getting Urban Meyer.
Let's just stop that's not happening. Urban Meyer aggressively he

(26:36):
is not going to Dallas now coming here. So I
do work at FS one as Wills on FS one
as well. Urban Meyer's there. I do not have a
relationship with him, haven't talked to him. But the reality
is USC knows they're not getting urban Meyer just not happening.
Why not, it's not happening. It's just not happening. You
don't think he took this job to be out here,

(26:56):
to keep taking meetings, and well, you know he's not
out here. He comes out here every week to do
the shows and is phenomenal in the new College Football
Kickoff show on Fox is outstanding. Irban Meyer. I know,
I would say zero point zero percent chance he goes
to Dallas now. Lincoln Riley is an interesting name that

(27:16):
to me is an interesting, compelling name. But again, how
does Lincoln Riley feel about Dak Prescott? I don't know.
I mean, Cliff Kingsbury took the Cardinals job because he
could hand pick his quarterback. You have the number one pick.
Do you want Kyler Murray? Yes? Or no? Do you
want to keep Josh Rosen? Whoever takes the Dallas job
doesn't have the choice, and quarterback is the most important

(27:38):
position in sports. Will look what he's done with three
different type of quarterbacks, all being successful, And I just
feel like for him, he's like, hey, I can coach.
I'll finally I'll take his skill set and I can
coach the one thing that's underrated about dacause that can run.
He can, you know, and he's and playing against him.
He's a big boy like he is very very very strong.

(28:03):
So I just think, you know, if if it is
Lincoln Riley, dak would be his guy. Okay, this is
gonna sound crazy. Well, I just looked at the NFL standings.
The Bengals are oh and eleven. They will have the
number one pick. If you're a potential head coach, I
don't know if they're gonna fire the guy um Zach Taylor.
I don't know if they're gonna fire him after one year.

(28:25):
But is the Bengals job attractive to you? Will if
an you know you're a hot shot coach, owner comes
to you and says, hey, man, we got the number
one pick, We got a lot of salary cap roo,
do you want to come here and start something nice?
Because again you're going to a car that's being built
in Cincinnati. You go to Dallas, you basically have to
drive the Ferrari. It's it's a turn key house man

(28:48):
when you go to Dallas. Yeah, I don't know about that. Again,
you could you talking about dak Off maybe his best year,
his offensive coordinator, Kellen Moore from Boise the quarterback of
Boise State. Now he's are they keeping are thinking in
a new offense off Deck's great year where people were
telling me he's a top seven m v P candidate.
Are you really going to start a new offense with Doc?

(29:11):
There's just so much the factor in. That's why ultimately,
I don't know if I buy this Jerry Jones super Bowl, Well,
I don't. I'm not really buying the Link and Roby
thing either. I feel like the offense is potent enough
with Kelly Moore, and I think if anybody, if they
do elevate anybody who's ready for a turnkey type of situation,
it would be Chris ra Shard, who's the game past

(29:32):
coordinator or whatever. He's basically defensive coordinator, that's what he is. Yes,
and I think he was a hot name leaving Seattle
a few years ago. In terms of, you know, getting
a head coaching job. And I actually I played, you know,
for him when I was in Seattle, just in training camp.
But I've probably learned more football from him in six
months than I've learned in my first seven years. So

(29:53):
he was new at Seattle when you got there. Uh,
he No, he was. I think he was already he
was there established because he's basically the originator of the Yeah.
He he is the massive splinter of the legion of
boom basically. And just a quick story about Christiarde. It
was interesting. So when I got to I got to
training camp in two thirteen, that was the year where

(30:15):
you know, they end up winning the Super Bowl. And
I was so curious. I knew, Okay Sherman, you know,
big personality, Earl Tomas, you know, big personality, Cam Chancellor,
Brandon Brown, all these guys you know in that room.
And I went in there and sat in the back
of the room. And when he walked in, everyone was quiet.
Everyone took out their notebook, everyone was attentative, everyone was listening.

(30:36):
He commanded the room and these all these guys listened
to him, and he he was He's a true leader
of men. And I just feel like that's the type
of guy like Dallas would need as someone who can
get in front of the room and they automatically disrespect
that guy. Interesting, So you bounced Garrett, you boost Chris
Richard from de facto defensive coordinator to head coach, you

(30:59):
keep Kelly in more. That makes a little more sensitive.
But is that sexy enough for the Dallas Cowboys fan
base because you know, you look at the Dallas defense
this year, I don't think they're as good as they
were last year. Now is that on Richard or is
that on partially the injuries a little tougher to tell.
I still think like, if if he can go in

(31:21):
there and just half his way and command everything, it
would be well, he's he's ready, He's ready to go.
Now in terms of since he like being appealing, um,
I think for a new head coach or you know,
for Zach, it would be. And because if you want
to put your own stamp on something, you want something
where you can build from ground up. That's kind of

(31:41):
exactly what happened in Miami when they hired Brian Florest
the game a five year deal. They're like, change this,
We're giving you five years to get this right and
fix it. It's kind of I kind of always looked
at it like a like a four year plan. When
you get a new head coach, there's a four year plan.
You got this window. Okay, first year you're evaluating everybody.
Second year you go get your players in the draft,

(32:04):
and then third year you probably get your free agents.
And the year four, we're ready to go and we
better win this dance super Bowl. You know, that's kind
of seeing that's I saw it firsthand in Green Bay
when Mike McCarthy got there. It was just that whole
the whole wave of trying to get it right in
four years, boom, they clicked. So that's a great point,
because some coaches need to change the culture. Floors needed
to change the culture. That's a culture thing. Yeah, I

(32:25):
don't think the Cowboys are there. They're probably an in
game coaching situation because some of the decisions Garrett makes.
Me Now, I don't know how much of that's on
Garrett versus Kellen Moore, but I think that's a great
point you made. It doesn't feel like it's a culture
change need in Dallas, just like a I know, you know,

(32:47):
I don't know the exact word, but it's basically like, man,
some we've got everything there, but there's just some some
extra missing. Because again that Minnesota call in the in
the red zone against Minnesota just to play calling was
very you know, suspect um. Again the late game situation
against the Patriots. But at the end of the day, whoever,

(33:11):
if it is still Jason, if it's somebody new, like,
will they will they you know, not feel the pressure
from Jerry Jones. Will they have complete control? You know,
that's the only thing because at the end of the day,
you know, it's almost like he's a common dominator, like
doesn't matter who's there. Yeah, and and folks just f

(33:32):
y I NFC is so stacked, Like you know, I
hope people don't think the Eagles are toasted yet. Um,
they're not done. And you look at the Packers, Aaron
Rodgers is still breathing, the Vikings are loaded, Saints Drew
Brees there right there, forty nine Seahawks. Rams like this
idea that Dallas changes a coach and there all of

(33:52):
a sudden gonna win the Super Bowl, That to me
is a little crazy. I mean, the Eagles have had
so many injuries by the way. I would say the
Eagles are one of my top three bets this weekend.
Eagles are favored by nine and a half or ten
in Miami. The keys are Lane Johnson is practicing again
off the concussion. You know how key offensive lines are. No, No, No,

(34:14):
regular NFL fan knows the trenches matter so much. Brandon
Brooks seems to be back from the anxiety he had
to miss most of the last game against Seattle, and
Alshon Jefferies practicing, Nelson Aghil. They're getting a lot of
guys back. I love the Eagles to take out some
frustration on a bad, bad Miami Dolphins team, especially for Winz.
You know, everyone's been going after him because he has

(34:35):
not been playing well bye the standards that we have
seen from what heard him. You know, well, he was
the m v P leader years ago before he got hurt, right,
he was like Claire cut MVP leader before he got hurt.
And now he looks at his career and you're like, oh,
Carson Wentz is awesome. How many playoff wins for Carson

(34:57):
when zero this town. Now Lamar Jackson, who everybody loves,
I love, We're gonna say good stuff about him shortly,
he doesn't want a playoff game. Well, it's like we
want to crown people instantly off a couple of games. Well,
I mean it was been more of a couple for
him right now, Okay, fine, seven games. It's not even

(35:18):
the fact. It's not like we, like you said, we're
gonna show and give him loving a bit. But it's
not even just a fact of they're just winning games?
Is how very impressive? Like like who right? How? And
who right? There's like they haven't punt, it's oubceeded whatever.
It was like you know, drives and you know, it's

(35:38):
almost like high school. I remember I would go off
in a high school game and then coaches like all right,
started sit down. You know, we're going to chill out.
You don't see this like this in the NFL. Like, okay,
one week he sits down and puts on sunglasses. The
next week he's hanging out eating the banana the sideline.
Last week he's hanging out with Hollywood Brown. They're just
joking around a silent recapping the whole game. They probably

(35:59):
watched the whole game on film on the iPad on
the sideline. I mean, when the Cowboys are supposedly Super
Bowl contenders, they haven't beaten a team with a winning record.
The Baltimore Ravens in the last five weeks have beaten
Tom Brady by double digits, Deshaun Watson by double juice,
Jared Goff by double digits on the road, and there

(36:20):
was one other guy they beat by Russell Wilson on
the road by double digits on the road. Ken the Cowboys.
What a game? Before we get too excited about about
the Super Bowl, I mean, Jerry Jones stopped with the
pressure all right? Coming up next? Um, well, this is
a dangerous topic. I feel like I'm gonna start getting
text messages from the powers that being embraces Sebastian tough.

(36:43):
Kyrie Irving is at it again. He's been in Brooklyn
for eight minutes and he seems angry. Oh boy, Kevin Durant,
what did you do? What did you get yourself into?
Should we be concerned about Kyrie Irving? Brooklyn will do
that next year On the Dan Patrick Shows, Jason, how

(37:06):
are you not live on Instagram for that? Because no
one else is up, everyone's cooking trying to get that
turkey right. My brother has been up since three am
East Coast time he started cooking on Tuesday. Wow, that's dedication.
My brother gets it done. I'll tell you what, man,
every summer we go out there when I have my

(37:28):
youth football camp, my brother has the family barbecue. One man,
one grill, one bachelor by himself. Bachelor Will Black been
fired up. By the way, there will only be Travis
Scott apparently during today's show because Will Black Ben recommended it.
And unless he is a singer dancer from a football player,

(37:52):
uh and uh win wine enthusiast, Marvel comics, he does
it all, folks. I'm Jason McIntyre, just a guy with
a nions. Apparently, I'm getting lit up on Twitter by
Sebastian show. That's who you are to some gibrones. But
it's Thanksgiving. I'm thankful. I'm gonna be nice. I'm just
gonna not look at it. He's a mutant who possesses

(38:13):
the ability to absorb energy and transform it into raw strength.
Strength to get my strength though, Yes, oh no, Gavin
is a big He was an X Men first class.
That's what I was telling the guy Kevin Bacon played him.
I don't have a good transition from Marvel to uh,

(38:36):
Kyrie Irving. Um, holy cow, he's a villain. Kyrie Irving
is a villain. Let me just say, I like my
eyes hurt from reading that. By the way, So like
three years ago, I just kind of fell in love
with Kyrie Irving's game and I just really liked him
enough that I bought a Calves throwback jersey with Kyrie on.

(39:00):
It was the burnt orange one. If you go to
my Instagram and you know, scroll away way down, you'll
see it. And since Kyrie Irving hit the shot will
Game seven to beat the Warriors, he has become a
different guy. And I've compared him on my Saturday radio
show to Odell Beckham's the Catch. Since the catch, Odell
became a celebrity and he's like a different guy. He's

(39:21):
just a different human, um, personality, ego, all that stuff.
And Kyrie Irving is now a different dude. He since
the shot, he has quit on Lebron James said, I
don't want to play with him anymore. Trade me. He
went to Boston playing for a coach and Brad Stevens,
who went to two national championship with Butler Bred. Stevens

(39:43):
a great coach, top five coach of the NBA hasn't
won a title yet, but it's still a top five
coach from me, and Kyrie Irving says, now I don't,
I don't. I don't want to play with this guy.
So now he's in Brooklyn, he's hurt, and he's the
Nets are going to Boston last night, Will and Kyrie
Irving doesn't play because he's hurt, and all these people

(40:03):
in Boston are holding up signs on the ESPN game. Um,
kemba's better, we don't miss you whatever, Well, do you
want to take it from here? Because I don't. I
don't want to still the pocket here. No, you're good,
please go off. But um, but once again we mentioned earlier,
I mentioned the whole show. That's part of it. That's

(40:24):
you have to embrace it. Embrace it. I remember you
know how it is. That's what I keep bringing it
back to football. When Dion went back to Atlanta in
the nine news uniform, okay signs everywhere, walked in there,
he just went off out a pick six and stared

(40:44):
down the sideline and then postgame interview, what do you say?
He said, this is my house, this is my house.
That's just what it is. That's that's I understand. He's like,
you know, it's it's just a game. It's just that
in the third everything you said, you know, with a fandom,
But that's part of it, that is that is what
makes it fun. I used to love going on the

(41:05):
road and going to other places. No, I was not,
you know, at the magnitude of Kyrie. But when you
are a Packer and you play against Chicago, you are
not like you play in Minnesota. You are not liked. Period.
That's just what it is. And you see it everywhere,
and that's just sports, you know. I I enjoy all
the bands and all the craziness and what have you.

(41:28):
You know. So so of course Kyrie doesn't play, and
you know, I'm sure he was watching the game and
saw all the hurt, all the talk during the telecast
and everything. Kemba goes for thirty nine and Kyrie Irving
goes on Instagram stories and basically writes a novel that
I joked on Twitter that looked like the beginning scroll

(41:48):
from Star Wars. By the way, stop writing novels on
you don't have that much time. Seriously, I mean, you
said it was hurting your eyes to read it like
it was just like a typical Kyrie. But basically he
goes on to blast the media, kind of references mental
health and being in that fish bowl of sports, and
he's like, listen, we're putting a damn ball through a hoop.

(42:09):
Gets a perspective. Well, I gotta I gotta remain comments Thanksgiving,
don't the guy's making thirty one million dollars a year
playing for the Okay, he wants to say, the game
isn't meant to be about the drama. Do you know
why you're making thirty one million because of a TV

(42:30):
deal and all the talk on TV about Kyrie Irving,
Kevin Duran, Lebron James every single day paying to see you. Yeah,
and I referenced, you know, Teddy Roosevelt's man in the
arena where he's talking about listen, it's not about the critic.
Who cares about the critics? The credit belongs to the

(42:51):
man who's actually in the arena. Lebron's written this on
his shoes. Well, you don't care what they say on
TV blasting you. If you get shredded by Julio Jones.
You're in the arena competing. They're just critics right, that's
part of the game. Dan Patrick Show. We'll be back
up next with Will Blackman and Jason McIntyre NFL. The

(43:14):
Dan Patrick Show has produced a lot of truly incredible
moments that Gottlieb took a pie to the face, shameful moments.
Rubio is a stud inspiring moments Lovin bench press a
category we call Fritz moments. What's the job? But this
moment right now is the one that could change your
life forever. I do have something that's gonna change your life.

(43:35):
Do you go to Dan Patrick dot com. It's something
that will change your life. This is the moment. You
can open the door to all the other moments. Download
the Dan Patrick Show app and you don't have to
miss a second of the present. Oh somebody missed something
or the past. Guaranteed you change your life. Thanksgiving a

(44:15):
time to be thankful. Isn't this supposed to be a
thankful show. We're thankful for a lot of things. For
time off, for food, how about turkey sandwiches, man for football,
and for stand up guys like Jason McIntyre and Will
black Men. Why you ask, because while Dan and the
Danets are off, they have stepped up to fill the void,

(44:36):
and that's one of the most generous things that anybody's
ever done for this show. Broadcasting from the Mercedes Man Cave.
Two good guys, Jason McIntyre and Will black Man. Wow,
what kind words is this? Cypress Hill. That's a great question.
You want to ram superstar? Yeah? He happy Thanksgiving everybody.

(45:01):
I am Jason McIntyre, he is Will Blackman. Um, he's
also playing DJ today. I believe right, he's really I'm
just making requests like his old school. If it's me,
I say we go to Christmas Music for the final
yet tomorrow. Yeah, but I'm starting to feel it now
since you said that. Travis Scott Christmas Songs, Travis Scott

(45:23):
Christmas MX one. I believe. So what are you doing
will Ford for Thanksgiving this evening? Anything exciting? Are you?
I am definitely not at all by any means. My
wife is from here, so we're gonna actually go to
her sister's house this year. What should be fun? Should
sounds like fun? Um game? You're most excited for Cowboys, Bills,

(45:45):
David blow Versus, Mitchell Trobinski or Saints Falcons. You know
I grew up die Hard you know Barry Sanders and
I always always enjoyed watching him play on Thanksgiving and
they usually what those throwbacks to which is pretty sweet.
So you know, just just by nature, I'm gonna watch
the Lions. Okay, I'm sorry for your loss. They're having

(46:08):
to watch the Lions. Um Our music guy Christen Here
said that David Blow sounded like a Bond villain. Um
I'm trying to read up on him. He went to
Purdue and that's about all I got. And listen, your
first start in the NFL is going to be against
his Bears defense on Thanksgiving. That's that's exciting to be there.

(46:31):
If he goes if he goes off, that's rising to
the occasion. Indeed, I gotta do a store to Marvin Jones.
He's playing very well this year. Well you gotta have
time my Lions. Lions have been a letdown. I gotta
be honest, folks. I was on the Lions this year
as a team to watch, and they look good early
and then you know, they lost a couple of close
games at Chiefs. Win really stands out, and now the
Stafford injury their toast. So Detroit Lions, they kick off Chucks.

(46:52):
I don't even tell thirty. I think thirty eastern. So
you got some time to get in your wages. Do
you like a side in that? And will for gambling
five and a half by the way, it was like
two earlier. It was, but blow did not benefit the line.
Let me just say Mitchell Robinsky favored by five and
a half on the road is a dangerous prospect. That's

(47:15):
a lot of points for a guy who can be
a turnover machine. Any thoughts on robisky will? Um, I
don't know. This is interesting. You know they once again
we go back to them trading up to go get
him like that was their guy. He got zooks. We
wanted him with Watson on the board, right and ma
Homes on board. Um did you record that police? I

(47:38):
have that I forgot about. I don't know what. Um. Yeah,
that was their guy. So is their job to just
get it done. I think a big part of like
what they did last year is that they used Cohen
as a receiver a lot, and I believe that's what

(47:58):
they should continue to do that. You know, there's a
personnel called personnel. It's two backs, no tight ends, and
you've got three receivers. Go there, motion of him out
to receiver. He's paired up on a linebacker. He's gonna win.
They're gonna be indoors, so it's gonna be fast. So
you have the option. Am I gonna give it to
my gumery to run three? Yeah? Can the five Bears

(48:19):
linemen protect long enough against just just get it, just
get it out of quick. We talked earlier about you know,
Tom Brady's fifth and passing, but a lot of it's
thinking Duncan and a lot of yards after catch. So
it was like, get the ball out quick, accurate. Though
Trabisky he's throwing heaters. It feels like he's throwing screen passes.
You sense that to like everything is like boom, like

(48:40):
chucking it. I don't know. I'm kind of out on Tropisky.
I feel bad, and I don't want to be that
guy who changes his quarterback every year, like you change
your shirt every day. But man, he's been bad this year.
It's gonna be interesting all season, you know. Um yeah,
I don't know this stuff because once again, you know,
I know, I know action, you know, great person, but

(49:02):
that doesn't also doesn't always win football games, you know,
and they gotta figure find a way to figure it out,
you know. And I just think he needs to just
embrace everything that's going on, because when he said publicly
that I we're going to turn off the TV because
everyone's saying negative stuff, that's how you know where his
mind is at. Tune out the critics, you know, speaking off.

(49:23):
Embrace the critics. Embrace You can't always avoid everything, and
what embrace the critics? What's gonna happen? But okay, okay,
I was going to pivot to the rams, but now
you said something interesting. Embrace the critics. You know who's
embraced the critics, Baker Mayfield, And I feel like it's
gotten in his head. He has liked tweets that we're

(49:43):
negative about him from me, and I'm not Mr. Negative guy,
but I'm like, you know that you can't be on
social media if you're an NFL quarterback taking it all
this stuff because it does impact your brain. There's a
plenty of studies who said the more you're just scrolling
through your timeline and through Instagram all day, it's just
more stuff in your brain. But maybe maybe that's just
fuse him because he was different. I feel like, you know,

(50:05):
he earned a lot in terms of walking onto two
schools and earning a starting job and doing all this
like that's just his style and you know, whatever it is,
it works for him working this year so far right
right now, they're coming through, right now, they're coming through
right now. This I thought it was better last year.
It is, but it is it all him, though I
wouldn't say it's all him the coaching, you know, that's

(50:27):
a huge Somebody joked to me Will that we got
to stop calling him Freddie Kitchens and start calling him
Freddie Bathrooms because he's just not very good. I mean,
he's not a leader of men. You talked about Chris
roh Shard being a leader of men. Freddie Commntions does.
Freddie Kitchens does not command that respect. No, he was,
He's brand. This is all brand new to him and
I get it. And even last year was his first

(50:48):
time calling place. I believe as well too. Um yeah, no,
but I think certain people are just made for it
and you just have you have to embrace all that stuff.
Embrace it. So Tom and Brad said every season, that's
why when once they get to the playoffs or they
end up going to the super Bowl, we'll still here
or all this stuff and trolling every time they win. Okay,

(51:10):
but I don't think he lets people know about it
by being on social media all the time. After you deliver,
you see you see his Yeah, you see his wins,
his troll videos. With your wins, you have to even
embrace the good and the bad stuff. So when I
was in Seattle, once again, she doesn't thirteen that training camp,
everyone was crowning after they lost in the playoffs. Year before,

(51:33):
everyone was crowning them to go to the super Bowl.
Go to super Bowl, and most coaches will say, what,
don't read the noise, don't look into it, you know,
stay humble. This that in the third and Pete Carrot
had a meeting. He was like, everyone's saying all these things.
He showed a bunch of articles. He was like, guys,
embrace it the positive stuff. You're that good. You are
that good. This is preseason. You are that good. Embrace it.

(51:55):
And people saying this stuff, it's because you guys earned it.
You guys worked at that point and they went on
that year it went off. You know, like you have
to embrace all that stuff. Now people say negative stuff. Okay.
My wife always asked me because I don't know how
you do it. I don't know how you're so stoic
or you have such a bulletproof mine to all this thing.
I was like, it is what that's just part. That's

(52:18):
part of it. It is what it is, you know.
And if it gets to the point where it's getting
you rattled or you can't handle it, then then it's
just not Maybe you're not built for it. Yeah, because
I know some people that just players that just aren't,
you know. And if if it does you service to
just tune out, then fine, But you can't run for
me because it's always going to be there. Yeah, I would,
just I don't think you could run from it. But
tuning it out is that is that easier said than done.

(52:40):
It's way easier said than done. So then are you
the guy who blocks the negative jerks on social media?
Or do you just ignore it? Do you mute them? No?
I don't mute or black anybody, really, No, not at all.
If if anything I can, I'll convert them into my friends. See,
now that is crazy to listen. Will When I wake
up in the morning, I go through my you know,

(53:02):
go to the bathroom and wash my face. I'm awake.
Then I go on check text messages and the when
I open Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, whatever, I don't want The
first thing to that I see is you are an idiot. Why? Oh,
you are an idiot? You suck. This is a bad day.
I don't need that negativity. The first thing, you know,
you say, you know what you say. I understand how

(53:23):
you feel. I can see why you feel that. Then
you get engaging with all these dopes and these bozos.
I'm curious as to what a guy see right there.
You call them dopes and bozos. They are if you're
if you're waking up in the morning and the first
thing your thought is I'm gonna go on social media
and attack guys who go on TV and radio, and
I'm gonna go after them. If that's the first thought

(53:43):
you have, you are a meatball. You're a bozo. Okay,
now let me ask you this. So Sean McVeigh and
the Rams, they're in a tough spot. Now will they
fall in the six and five? Their Super Bowl hangover? Um,
you can give them all the ivy hydration treatments you
want that hangover and going away and they need a
greasy burger. Jared Goff last three games zero touchdowns, five interceptions. Okay,

(54:06):
everybody's saying, oh, it's not worth the contract. What's your
advice now to McVeigh who eleven months ago was a
genius and now he's not a genius, and Goff who
got the richest contract as a quarterback and now looks
like a bus Like, what's your advice? Because listen, they
watch the shows. They listen to this out here. I

(54:28):
know we're on in l A. A lot of people listening.
What's your advice? Yeah, and and and Sean and I
we go way back to the resting days. He was
he was when I was there. I've heard some stories
about McVeigh the young playboy in the DC area. Yeah,
I don't know those stories, but anyhow, the stories I
do know is that I would come back to the
facility at night and watch film and he was there

(54:49):
preparing getting getting Kirk Cousins ready. I just I just
think more variety, you know, um on offense that he
likes to go with the condensed formations and run a
lot of you know, crossing routes or deep developing routes,
play action routes, but all that is predicated off the
run game and if you're not running the ball very
very well in his offense. Is very hard to just

(55:12):
have a quarterback go back there and just sling it,
you know. Um I even thought the Super Bowl, I
was like, okay, they know you're gonna go with the
condensed formations once again and try to get Cooper Cup open,
try to take deep shots, Brandon Cooks, try to run
the ball. I think they should try to go empty
and just change it up a little more at the
point where it's like, Okay, we're not gonna change. We're

(55:33):
gonna be how you are, be how we are. But
once people are figured it out, and um, I always
say where where they got found out was when they
played the Bears last year in the playoff, I mean
not the Yeas, and they just absolutely annihilated that entire offense.
That was the blueprint, you know, And boa he brought

(55:55):
it up again after the game, that's the blueprint. And
I know New wild Watch that tape said we're gonna
do exactly, We're gonna put the heat on Jared Goff
and make him beat us. Because there I don't think
there's there's not one team in the NFL that fears
Jared Goffs sitting back there and just trying to sling
it every every play. And I know, I know guys
not because they have seen it. They have seen him

(56:17):
struggle when the heat is on, you know, And I
just they got to get more variety. What I learned
in my career, which just watching. I mean, you know,
I played football from ages six to thirty five, and
I always learned that physical teams always beat finesse teams.
At the end of the day, finesse teams don't last

(56:37):
long at all. You know. I look at when you
know Denver played Seattle. I knew Denvil was gonna get
blown out, just just based off the type of teams.
But then when Deva went back to super and played Carolina,
how do they win defense? They beat the heck out
of camp. Well, if you look at this Rams team,
you you said it's all predicated off the running game.

(56:58):
I mean, if you can't protect or pass, you've got nothing.
Now insisting that you mentioned that Bears game, because if
memory serves, the Bears beat him at the line of scrimmage.
I think they jammed all the receivers playing man. And again,
if you've given Cooper cup zone and Robert Wood zone,
they're gonna eat it. So you just play man defense.

(57:19):
You jam everybody at the line, and with Cooks getting
a concussion every other week and he's out, they got
no deep threat and then you can't protect golf. So
that's why, though, Will it sounds like you're not out
on the rams as like dinastay any potential to do
anything over and so I'm not ready to dump McVeigh
or golf. I don't think it's over. I just think
they're going through a tough spot. When you pay golf

(57:42):
that money, you can't pay the offensive lineman. They lost
two guys and they're trying to replace them with guys
were drafted in nineteen and they're just not ready yet.
So there is a there's a learning curve here. Not
to mention the Niners have gotten a lot better. Seahawks
didn't anywhere thanks to Russell Wilson. Isn't that amazing though?

(58:03):
Is that they just Seattle has gone through massive changes
roster wise, and they never they never had to rebuild.
They just kept resetting. And that's but that's when you
want to compare, you know, stuff like that. What quarterbacks
is Russell doesn't need everything to be perfect. He does it.

(58:23):
He just he just makes it happen. Well, the front
office has also done a damn good job, um, you know,
kind of replenishing the defense. When they lost the Legion
of Boom, I thought it was over, I thought it
was done, and they were toasts. And they've done a
fairly good job quickly replenishing while you're in Russell Wilson's prime.
Well that's you know, what they do very well. What
John Snyder and Pete Carroll do very well is that

(58:46):
they actually they trained the bottom of their depth chart.
You know, if you if you if you look at
like Lesion of Boom. Okay, let's go to Sherman. You know,
mid late round pick camp Chance I think was the
third round pick. Brandon Browner was under rafted and he
got they brought him in from the CFL. Byron Maxwell.
I think it was a fifth round pick. The only
first rounder in leasion of Boom was Earl Thomas and

(59:08):
all these all these guys you know, had already had
like their mindset makeup, but then just trained and got
him right. And there are a lot of guys where
he you know, there aren't first round pigs, you know,
He does a great job in terms of the underdogs
and getting them physically and mentally ready. That's that's what
they do a great job of. And and finding guys
like that. They find guys who have a trip on

(59:29):
the shoulder, who want redemption, who are upset and angry
about something. You know. That's what that's what they've been doing.
And it's fair game. It's fair game right right right away. Yeah,
they give everyone knows they got Matt Flynn that contract.
You know John Snyder. John Snyder knew him from Green Bay,
Um where I where I know John as well from
Green Bay. And they get Russell and Russell beat him out.

(59:52):
That you pay a quarterback, but then you draft a
third rounder and he beats him out. When I when
I look the Seahawks wide receiver, they lose Doug Baldwin.
Every He's like, oh, they're they're gonna be hurting. Curse
what about their tight end? The kid will dislike, came
out of nowhere, was dominating. Then he gets injured. He's
done for the season. Oh, well, man, that's another injury.

(01:00:14):
They're in trouble. Enter Jacob Hollister, whoever that is, and
now he's catching touchdown passes. I mean their roster build.
But as you said, john Stein has been tremendous, Lockett's
been outstanding, Metcalf has been really good. Remember he was
basically just a speed guy at the count because of
his shuttle time. Yeah, he and he can't run any routes.
He's just a straight line runner. He looks pretty good

(01:00:35):
to be well, he's you know what thought, he's fortunate
because he went to a good quarterback. That's a big
deal there. There are a lot of good players that
suffer because they don't go to the right place. Yeah,
they don't have the right quarterback. But that's but that's
when it comes down to a French quarterback. I know
when paying quarterbacks that you know there's a month, there's
a there's a certain number that's the going rate. But

(01:00:56):
does a quarterback elevate everyone else's level of play? That's
a franchise quarterback to me, Jared Goff, is he a
franchise quarterback based on what I just said? No, based
on the going right, yes, I had, But does he
elevate everyone else? We had we got a break here.

(01:01:16):
I had someone tell me pretty smart guy um around
the NFL, the Rams and McVeigh should try to trade
golf and just draft a quarterback because mcveigh's system is
so good. You just need a pretty good guy in
that spot and then build around and he's gonna be
able to pick apart. Now, nobody's trading for golf, right,

(01:01:38):
that's a pipe dream. And I wouldn't look to unload golf.
They just I think they just gotta fix the offensive line.
I mean, listen, the defense has been good Baltimore game notwithstanding,
and that's gonna help a variety. Yeah, coming up next
year on the Dan Patrick Show with Will Blackman and myself,
Jason McIntyre, Jason Garrett or going back to a baby
Cowboys Bills today. You gotta figure this is must win,

(01:02:00):
right Will? Jason Garrett cannot lose to another team with
a winning record because they will be passed by the Eagles.
Um soon Eagles play the Dolphins this weekend. Is Jason
Garrett must win, must win? Yeah, every game is most
win for him. Every game is must win. There it
is so coming up next Jason Garrett, we will speak
to a Cowboys insider next here on the Dan Patrick Show.

(01:02:22):
Are we backhead it? How much time did you spend
in London there two months. Actually, cheers mate, I like
the accent. By the way, speaking of the UK Thanksgiving,
I got Jason a nice little gift he did. I
can't believe it. I'm sparkling, sparkling t from Fortnhum and

(01:02:45):
Mason will Blackman just such a gentleman. Um. I should
be the one getting him a president first, but our
first show. I just started a website. Listen, you work hard,
bro Hey, we I have to. I mean, were you
work hard in your family life? You work hard, and
Jim and you definitely work hard in this business. You
get reactions from people positive negative, you are working. I

(01:03:08):
just saw that. I didn't even see this last night.
Josh Hart, uh you know, retweeted me the guy on
the Pelicans. So he bounced into Lebron and and Lebron
got hurt for a minute, and then he bounced into
Anthony Davis, and Anthony Davis got hurt. So I made
kind of a joke about it, like come on, Josh Hart, jest,

(01:03:29):
but that didn't convey and he thought I was calling
him a dirty player. That kind of hurts. I'm a
Josh Hard guy. I like him coming out of Villanova. Um,
and like it's one thing. Will when you know these
jabrones on social media, it's a different story. You can't
call them. You can't fight fire with fire. You call
you're calling them all these names. These are my friends.

(01:03:54):
Josh Hard needs to worry about hitting free throws. Missed
one later, you missed a big one. It was one
twelve to one eleven for a while because of his
mis free throw. You haven't stopped watching The Irishman on
Netflix last night? Right? How was the first? Do you watch? What?
I watched about thirty minutes of a three and a
half hour movie three and a half, three and a
half I watched. I was like, oh, I gotta get

(01:04:16):
up tomorrow. It was a half hour. Maybe that's why
they put on Nobody's Going to the Theater for three
and a half hours. But I mean that movie with
Leo DiCaprio o vers the Bear and the Elements. Do
you remember that? That was good? But that was long
as hell? It was very long. I don't know why,
you know. I like a shorter movie now. I also
like a shorter TV show. I don't like the hour long.

(01:04:38):
Give me like a thirty eight love that? Um? Yeah,
so back here on the Dan Patrick Show. He's Will Blackman.
I am Jason McIntyre. We are filling in on the
Dan Patrick Show. Happy thanks Giving everybody. I know we're
on in l A. A lot of my friends are
all excited, Oh, you're hosting the Dan Patrick Show. I'm like, bro,
you're not going to be in your car listening. They

(01:05:00):
were like, well, I know, I'm not gonna be with
my family, you know, Thanksgiving listen. Will, why don't you
give everybody some advice on how to avoid politics today
at the Thanksgiving table? Go eat at the kids table?
Well said, Also, I think Colin Kaepernick is probably a
no fly zone on Thanksgiving. Right. I don't know what

(01:05:20):
I do because that becomes a political issue. Unfortunately, everything
becomes a political issue. I mean, hell, in Philadelphia, Carson
Wentz couldn't be political. All of a sudden, Mason Rudolph
a political. He's killing us. We'll just did I actually, um,

(01:05:48):
I think the Steelers are my favorite bet of the weekend.
So yesterday I'm at f S one doing the show
and uh, James Harrison's there. I have to share the
addressing room with James Harrison. And you've seen him right,
did you take turns? At least? He is a large,
jacked dude, So I had to ask him. I see
him a lot. He's friendly, So I said, James, you
want you do an h G h any? What can

(01:06:10):
I get on? He's like, no, man, it's all natural.
You asked him about his medicine cabinet. Well, I I
see the guy a lot. When you see somebody like
two days a week and you say what's up, and
then you start talking and the family, you show the
kids photos and sports. Yeah, I think it's okay to
bring that up, right, So let me start talking about
quick twitch, right, you know, because I'm I want my
kids to get more into sports because I was into sports. Um,

(01:06:32):
I don't know. You don't ask these guys about some
of this stuff. I know you're a former rapp. The
only person I ever asked, but it was jokingly, is
I I last last offseason I worked out what what teo?
And yeah, he was in town and he you know,
he ran the sand dunes out here, him and Julio
Alas oh man, that's where I live. Yeah, him and Julio,
And so he invited me to come run with him.

(01:06:54):
Julio DeShawn Golston is a good group. Held hold, can
I get an invite to that next step? I'm not kidding.
Listening follows. You gotta sign a waiver for this, definitely okay,
so no listen. I am like, my legs feel like
some men doing his his hill work, the sand dune workout,
and everyone is like, you know, Julio is doing well

(01:07:16):
and I'm I'm getting through it. But I'm like man like,
and I'm looking at t O and he is literally
lapping everybody. Dude, He's but la like conditionwise lapping everybody.
This is last year. I'm like, bro, what's that medicine con?
Did he answer you? Yeah? He was like it's all
me and it was jokingly and you know what it was?

(01:07:37):
What it was. That was the hardest work I've ever
done in my ent. His sand dune. Just walk up
the sand dune and walk down. That was the warm up.
Was walk up, That was the warm up. I know
there's one in Santa Monica. I haven't done that, and
there is one in Manhattan Beach. It's very close to
where I live. Beast um and yeah, terrello um, thanksgive

(01:08:00):
back to wins. Should we do Wentz. Let's do a
little Carson Wentz, where are you on a scale of
one is panic? Oh my gosh, you know, the end
of days? And you know, five is I'm not really
that worried. Where are you and Carson Wentz and the
Eagles who are five and six, one game behind the Cowboys.
Cowboys won the earlier meetings, so they currently have the tiebreaker.

(01:08:21):
But where are you on Carson Wentz and concerned level?
It is? It is definitely not the end of days, um,
because he has shown his ability to you know, to
be one of the best quarterbacks. He has shown that
do you either want a Super Bowl before you got hurt?
M VP candidate, clear cut leader? UM, but I'm I'm

(01:08:42):
kind of I'm just kind of nervous. What's been going
on the past couple of weeks, UM with him? I understand,
you know, a lot of receivers injured, you know, things
going on with the offense. No, you know, new running backs,
A lot is going on. But I believe he is
still talented enough where it he should still do Okay,

(01:09:05):
you know, so I do panic in terms of, um,
just just what's been going on, what he's been doing? UM,
what the team. I just speaking of hangover, they might
be dealing with something too, you know, in terms of that.
Also just as a team to defensively, a lot of
things are are interesting to say the least. So I'm

(01:09:27):
not this is not definitely not the end all at
all whatsoever. You know, it takes one off season just
to fix all this. And but but they paid Wentz.
He got big money, same agent, same agent. Oh really,
bit Drabinsky Wentz golf. Is that Trace Armstrong? No, it's
repped one. Okay. Now that Wentz has his money, people

(01:09:51):
expect him to deliver because remember it was Nick Foles
who won the Super Bowl and Nick Foles who got
them to the playoffs last year, and Wentz got hurt
whence is basically been injured every year he's been in
the NFL, and he had that injury at North Dakota
State in college. I'm a little concerned about concerned, not worried.

(01:10:14):
I still stood. I still do think they win the
NFC East. But it's the injuries around Wents that have
really crippled his team. I mean, when half of your
offensive line is out, or the right side or Jason
Peters on the left, you're not gonna be able to
deliver on offense. Obviously, the DeShawn Jackson injuries huge. We
talked about Cooks stretching. It's like he's signed just to

(01:10:38):
beat up the Redskins and then children, I mean, and
there was, you know, there was some I did live
in Philadelphia outside Philly for about seven years before moving
here to l A and three years ago, and I
have a lot of friends still in that area, and
I'm telling you there was chatter around man Deshaun Jackson.
It's like, I mean, like a seven week camstring injury

(01:10:59):
comes back and now he's done for this season, and
there was some talk, Hey, he's getting later in his
career as he you know what's going on with I'll
just say, what's going on with the Sean Jackson. Now
there's no concern because he's done. But you can't stretch
the field Aglars hurt alshon Jeffrey's hurt, Dude, he was
throwing to a converted college quarterback. Carson Wentz was left.
The kid from Houston, Greg Ward, who was I think

(01:11:19):
with the San Antonio rough Riders or whatever that team
is in the a f L or that other football league.
You can't win that way. You can't the Patriots like that.
So I'm not that concerned. If they don't put it
on the Dolphins and really smoke him this weekend, I
will officially be worried because he threw it like forty

(01:11:41):
five times last week and two picks on he had
to throw that much fumbles. I mean, I'm not concerned
for him. I'm more concerned with the whole team, that's all.
And I'm really curious to see, you know, when guys
get back healthy and if they can't, because I mean,
it's it's gonna be tight because Dallas consure. If Dallas

(01:12:01):
can get through today, this would be a huge win
for them because they're playing against a tough, tough Buffalo team.
I just for fun, will I went through the highest
paid quarterbacks this yere Okay, Carson Wentz. His deal doesn't
really kick in the next year, so he's still on
his rookie deal, so he's only eight million. Highest paid.
Matt Stafford twenty nine mill, injured Kirk Cousins twenty nine mill.

(01:12:26):
I like Kirk Cousins, big game for him to change
the narrative into Aaron Rodgers third, Russell Wilson fourth, Ben
Roethlisberger fifth out for the season. Eli Manning sixth, bench
probably done, Cam Newton seventh. Phil Rivers looking kind of
washed for for reinforcement. I've been a longtime Rivers guy.

(01:12:53):
I think he's a Hall of Fame lock. But will
you saw that game against So he's going he's going
out slinging some of these highest paid quarterbacks. And when
you get to next year when a lot of these
rookie deals are done, Jared got thirties six mill. That's
the going right, because that's just what it is. That
is the going rate. It is crazy when you know

(01:13:15):
you see all this stuff, it's gonna it's gonna be
a lot of quarterbacks getting paid next year. You're gonna
see that. Yeah, I just I know. I don't want
to be that guy who doesn't want to pay the quarterbacks.
But we've seen it. When you pay the quarterback, it's
tough to build around him. I mean, this is not
rocket science, No, it is very tough. It reminds me
of um once again, when I was in on the
Redskins when Scott mcclou was the GM. He was good,

(01:13:36):
and his his whole deal was we're gonna pay Kurt,
We're gonna pay Kirk, but I'm not gonna, like, you know,
and give him a blank check. He's like, I'll take
care of you. What is I'll give you, you know,
seventeen whatever, six seventy eighteen a year, Like you'll be set,
but I will take care of you by building you

(01:13:58):
a strong roster like you. You all you have to
do is not turn a roll over. It's gonna be
so easy for you, you know. But I understand. Obviously
a lot happened after that, you know, with him and
the team. But it's hard, you know. That's why it's
it's interesting with Brady. You know, he's where is he
on that list? I'm sure he's a little and now
he's got the asterix. Next he doesn't because the wife whoa,

(01:14:23):
And I'm sure we're gonna find out. He definitely has
some kind of equity in that team. I'm sure I
know he does. I know he does. I know he
does equity and what I know he I don't know.
I was gonna make a Robert Kraft joke, but I don't.
I don't want to go there. Please don't I have friends. Listen,
Brady's wife is net Worth of like at least a

(01:14:43):
quarter doesn't mean that doesn't mean you can scale his
pay No, but I think he is smart enough to
say I don't need you to back up the brinks
for me because I want an offensive line. Listen, the
brainks is coming from somewhere else, I think to his account,
I think an agreement. Oh okay, well TV twelve. By

(01:15:04):
the way, have you ever ordered anything from TV twelve?
I have not. I've looked on there and I've wanted to.
I haven't pulled the trigger yet. I might when I
go back home. Um, I might check out his gym.
Can you get up in there? You just roll up? Hey?
What's that? I think? So? I think anybody. I think
it's a public facility. It is Tom Brady's Jim just open.
I was going to make money. I think it probably memberships. Right, well,

(01:15:27):
I can't get to work out? Well, you probably can,
you're famous. And Jeff who was there? Not Jeff doalingson?
Somebody was just there? I forget who was just there? Huh?
TV twelve. Maybe Carson Wens needs to go in there
because he keeps getting hurt man because he's reckless. He
that holds the ball. So long trying to make these

(01:15:48):
that's a good point we can get over. So he
got hurt initially a guest the Rams when he dove
for that touchdown, he towards a cl diving um. So
about we've done ninety minutes, will and we really haven't
talked about Lamar Jackson Action Jackson, m v P Jackson.

(01:16:08):
You know he's favored to win the m v P.
Two weeks ago, Russell Wilson had it locked up. Now
it's Lamar Jackson's to lose. Never had it locked he
had locked up before they played Baltimore, Russell Wilson. Okay,
so like three weeks ago. I think that's I don't
know why people don't take down to account the head
to head battle well technically because it's not head to head.

(01:16:30):
It's like him against the Seattle defense, and then Russ
against the Baltimore defense, which had just added Marcus Peters.
So that makes it tougher for Russ because that Seattle
defense is not great. Now, Clowney who missed the Eagles
Mars Peters, I don't think he wants to see him again.
Peters with that pick six. So I think this raven

(01:16:54):
situation is fascinating because will you know, a lot of
these old school NFL guys, I'm gonna do it my way.
You could speak to the locker room and yeah, ego
does not last long. Ego does not Ego does not
go well at all. I mean, you had the Redskins
coach coming out this week saying we don't have an
analytics department. And now on the Ravens. You have a

(01:17:14):
story in the Athletic Harvard well technically Yale, but yes,
I've LEAs major. Hold up, I have this guy's major.
I had to write it down. The dude is from
Yale and he majored in behavioral economics and essentially he
is their fourth down guru. He crunches the numbers and

(01:17:36):
we'll tell them, hey, we need to do this on
fourth down. And then he sends a message to Greg
Rome and the offensive coordinator who calls a play. Guess
who is the best best fourth down team in the NFL.
Just take a guess. Of course, it's the Ravens. Thirteen
of seventeen seventy. Will I research this, The Baltimore Ravens
have more fourth down conversions than anyone in the league.

(01:18:01):
That is the same number of fourth down conversions as
the Rams, Packers, Cowboys, Seahawks, Saints, Patriots combined. The Ravens
are so smart. I mean, well, I'm fascinated by this
because it's like, hold up. They bring in a behavioral
economics major from Yale and he's making the fourth down calls.

(01:18:25):
Anybody can do this, but it takes a smart ego
list as you said, coach in John Harbaugh to say,
you know what, I'm removing my ego. I've been in
football for three decades, someone who want a title, you
wanna wanna, indeed want a super Bowl and I'm basically

(01:18:47):
I'm gonna say you make the call year old yoge guy,
and then our offensive coordinator will call it in. I'm
taking my ego out of it. Something special brewing in
Baltimore and we haven't even really talked about Labar. Why
you know, I can't wait to hear that. Will. He's
Will Blackman. I'm Jason McIntire and coming up next here

(01:19:08):
on The Dan Patrick Show are the Ravens going to
the Super Bowl. This is The Dan Patrick Show, brought
to you by Mercedes a MG driving performance. Listen return
of the Mac as in Mac Jones Alabama from jackson

(01:19:33):
I used to live in Jacksonville when I played for
the Jaguars. He went to uh, what was it Bowls?
High school? Was Bowls? You know who went to Bowls
high school? De Brown, Chipper, Jones, Hayden Hurst. There's some

(01:19:54):
people there. What a athlete factory? Okay, Ponto dro Return
of the Mac was my theme song in college. I
mean I might pretend there. Jason spits swimmer, former teammate
of mine. No, that's uh, there's a difference. Mark Spitz,

(01:20:14):
I think was the Olympics player. We're back here on
the Dan Patrick Show. He's Will Blackman, Ryan Murphy. That's
a swimmer gold medalist. I'm Jason mcinton. We're just, you know,
we're having fun. Happy Thanksgiving to everybody. Hope you guys
crump Jo did not go there. I hope you guys

(01:20:37):
are enjoying your Thanksgiving morning. Very rainy out here in
l a un characteristically rainy. Um, it looks like the
Macy's Day Parade is going off without a hitch. We
have it on here in the studio. Um, big day
of Thanksgiving. Football. The best team in the NFL not
playing on Thanksgiving Day. I was gonna say, yeah it is.

(01:21:03):
It's Baltimore, Baltimore Ravens. The miners have something to say,
so will Our producer Gavin just handed me this quote
from Earl Thomas. Now you know the legion of boom
you played in Seattle, just training camp, just brief. I
had a cup of coffee there in some suship. How
was Seattle nice? Seattle was actually pretty cool. Even though

(01:21:24):
it was like this most of the time. The weather
here like raining type deal, it was still the rain
was character. I thought it gave character of Seattle. Was awesome.
The most beautiful place on Earth in the summer over
over Los Angeles. Dude, it is green. There is there
is an absolutely zero pollution zero. It is just beautiful. Okay,

(01:21:49):
here's Earl Thomas of the Sea Hawks. I'm sorry, already
already of the Ravens. You think the forty Niners are
going to the super Bowl, it could be. Let's see,
hold on, how are you gonna just put that influx
in his We'll just go out there and try to
play the best football we could possibly do. And when

(01:22:12):
the Super Bowl comes, whoever we play, yes, they're gonna
be in trouble. Earl Thomas Baltimore, Ravens, you like giving
Bolton bore material like that out week of the game. Well,
but Earl has been there, Earl is it is what
it is? Earl has been there. Okay, yes, Richard, I'm

(01:22:34):
saying Earl is the one saying it. Earl has been
there and he's seen what it looked like, and he's like, man,
this right here, this is what it looks like. I'm
a fan of guys because I feel like the guys
who go out there and say stuff like that, it's
almost like then putting pressure on themselves to play better.
I always look at you know, I love watching boxing,

(01:22:54):
and you know Mayweather is one of the biggest guys
who talk talk talk, But I think he does that
to make himself work even harder, almost like that fear like, Okay,
now I better show up. I don't see what the
point is of saying this right now ahead of a
game against a ten and one Niners team that is
a six point underdog, as if Kyle Shanahan doesn't need

(01:23:17):
to tell his team, guys, we're underdogs despite we have
a better record than this. Johnny come lately, Ravens, team,
Look what Earl Thomas is saying, I just don't see
how that helps you. I don't know. You tell me
when you were in the NFL in the locker rooms,
how often did coaches week of the game bring up

(01:23:37):
stuff like this? UH coach Coffin did all the time.
He always brought up bullets and board stuff. You know, if,
especially being a head coach, you have to find anything
and everything that's going to help motivated. Here you go.
So yeah, there's you know, guys can take you to
leave it. For the most part. You know, guys will
take it either you hear it from them or you don't.
But the right now, Baltimore is by far the scariest

(01:24:01):
team UH in the NFL, and not only because of
what Lamar has been doing, but just overall. I feel
like with this Ravens team, everybody in the entire organization.
This is everyone from Steve A. Schotti the owner to
the groundskeeper. Everyone has bought in into this mission and

(01:24:23):
what Baltopo was trying to do. Everyone is bought in.
Like the guys are having so much fun. You have
the image of the linebacker and the end zone taking
the sip of beer. You know, like these guys are
having so much fun and take care of each other.
Lamar is elevating everyone else's play. You see Willie seeing
out there getting done. You see Seth out there, Robert's
catching passes, getting it done. Mark Andrews is one of

(01:24:44):
the hottest tyitenings out there because everyone's coming from hundred
hundred Lamar car four hundred yards like all the everyone
is just playing well. At first, you know it was
the Ravens offense. We also used to hearing about the defense.
Now the defense got their stuff together, they added Marcus Peters.
They're playing lights out. And then once again you have
a coach who has no ego in John Harborough. Like

(01:25:07):
it's just a dangerous team right now. So the Ravens
have played some top ten run defenses this year. Okay,
the Rams, they were top ten. They just Ravens ran
for two eight five. They played the Patriots, Ravens ran
for two ten. They played the Texans. No J. J. Watt,
The Ravens ran for two five. Currently, the forty Niners

(01:25:27):
only have the sixteenth best pass the best run defense
in the league. Can the Ravens pick their number of
rushing yards this week? Um it's I was I think
it's still gonna be a close game. Interesting, So where
are you you're taking the nine? I still think. I
still think they're gonna run for a lot of yards
that you can't as no one's gonna stop it. I'm sorry,
no one's gonna stop. You're gonna have to equally run

(01:25:48):
is just as much yards like the Browns did. Nick
Chubb had a hundred sixty five yards. Uh, we gotta
do more Ravens because I'm very bullish on this team
right now. And that's your area, right yeah, da kind
of d m V. But I'm a Jets fan. I'm
wearing a Jet shirt today for all of you guys
who weren't watching Will Blackman's Instagram live coming up next
year on The Dan Patrick Show, where we gonna go Will,

(01:26:12):
We got so much, We got Lebron, we got Sean McVeigh.
A lot of stories out here in l A. I
don't think we're talking about the Patriots back after this.
The Dan Patrick Show has produced a lot of truly
incredible moments. Gottlieb took a pie of the face, shameful
moments speaking us a stud, inspiring moments bench prest a

(01:26:34):
category we call fridge moments. But this moment right now
is the one that could change your life forever. I
do have something that's gonna change your life. You go
to Dan Patrick dot com. It's something that will change
your life. This is the moment. You can open the
door to all the other moments. Download the Dan Patrick
Show app and you don't have to miss a second

(01:26:55):
of the present. Oh somebody missed something or the past
guaranteed you change your life. Oh, thanksgiving a time to

(01:27:24):
be thankful. Isn't this supposed to be a thankful show.
We're thankful for a lot of things. For time off,
for food, how about turkey sandwiches, man for football, and
for stand up guys like Jason McIntyre and Will black Men.
Why you ask, because while Dan and the Dannats are off,
they have stepped up to fill the void. And that's

(01:27:44):
one of the most generous things that anybody's ever done.
For this show broadcasting from the Mercedes Man Cave, two
good guys, Jason McIntyre and Will black Man, our number
three here on The Dan Patrick Show, have to be
thanksgiving everybody. He's Will Blackman, I'm Jason McIntyre. We are

(01:28:11):
geeked for thanks. What are you more excited for football
or the Thanksgiving feast you're having later? I'm ready to eat,
I am, I'm ready to eat. So what do you
what's your game plan? Will do you not really do
lunch and just absolutely be starving for Thanksgiving and load up?
You know, I was a big fan of fasting. I've
been running a lot this week too, making myself pretty hungry.

(01:28:33):
Indoor outdoor, it depends. I'm usually I'm usually outdoor guy.
Oh boy, here we go. What's a good what's a
good run for? Will Blackman, former NFL player? Three miles?
Three miles? You know between Yeah, about eight and a
half minute pace. There's a social run. So can you
have a conversation while you're running that pace? Yeah? Wow,

(01:28:55):
I cannot. I did a ten k about two months ago,
and man, that was tough. I was disappointed in my time.
I thought I would I could do forty three and
they just jump into the did you like? Wormed out
for like a month. I probably should have done more
than that. It was not not my best. Just a
couple of times a week I'll run, you know, three
former NFL player, you could just work that. I'm working

(01:29:17):
on my teeth. No, no, it's different. But remember we
just talking about quick quitch and slow twitch. That's not
quick twitch at all. I'm working on this TV body.
I'm about to drop about ten pounds ten Yeah, what
are you two bills? Now? Oh? Really you can hit
somebody well NFL cornerback. I'm like, all right, this probably
one nine. I moved the safety towards the and you know,

(01:29:38):
and then those hits start to hurt more. Remember when
I was on the restumes, we played the Patriots in
New England and oh no, they kept drunk. No well,
I actually had a cover of ground, but they kept
running La Garrett Blunt my direction and we had the
stunt called the Pirate stunt where the end and the
tackle stunt inside, leaving me one on one with La

(01:29:59):
Garrett Blunt. I probab hit him. I hit him by
myself probably five times that game. And I finally looked
at the silent. I was like, Joe Barry, what's up? Bro?
Like a big boy. I got him down. But that
was a big boy. So you know, you gotta come
in low and blunt and he's got chicks for legs.
You just just wrap up, just wrap up. I've been hitting.

(01:30:20):
I've been tackling for my whole life. So it was like,
all right, wow, it is what it is. Hey, Can
I ask you we're going to dive into a fascinating
NFL quarterback question. I don't think we're done with Lebron
today either, but um, I gotta ask you. You spent
some time in Green Bay at the beginning of your
career with Aaron Rodgers, both Farv and Rogers. Oh wait,
so were you there for the overlap he got drafted,

(01:30:42):
when Farv was there to that the sevenths when we
lost to the Giants, and then yes to the end
of two sevens when the switch happened. Have you spoke
at length about whatever acrimony existed between those two, because
I'm sure you've seen the quotes where Aaron Rodgers said
Farve basically Lee did not accept him at the beginning
and was not kind and well, I mean as you

(01:31:05):
saw it, like I mean, far everyone knows that he
is the ultimate competitor. He still had action when they
were trying to get him out of there and and
showed it. You know, almost took Minnesota to the Super
Bowl if he just ran it. But he threw across
his body and got picked indeed. Um, but yeah, it
just just on the competitor and they were just ready

(01:31:25):
for Rogers. Practice was wild, by the way. The starters
one against far and our backups went against Aaron Rodgers.
It's like cheez bullets flying. So I'm gonna ask you this.
So I've sat on panels before with former Packers who
were there for Rogers, and there's a specific guy, and
I've been at you know, I've been in Fest once,
so I talked to guys like Greg Jennings. Um, he

(01:31:47):
will be the guy. A lot of people have a
lot of negative things to say about Rogers the human
as in, I know a tight end who was drafted there.
He was all excited and Aaron Rodgers basically would not
look at him or acknowledge him. They're walking by in
the locker room. Rodgers is not even like, what's up?
Dapping him up? Nothing, total silence. So this particular player

(01:32:10):
had to go to the offensive coordin and say, does
Aaron Rodgers hate me? Like? So they had to then
bridge the gap and bring in Rogers to sit in
with this tight end. And I'm not trashing Rodgers. I'm
just telling you what this guy said he played with
Rogers in your experiences, was Rogers just not a warm,
friendly guy in the In the words of Colin, our colleague,

(01:32:32):
he said that Aaron's a cow guy, you know, witty, sarcastic, smart,
alec that type of guy. You know, Brian, I get it.
He and I are cool, like you know, we we
always uh, you know, if he's hit him up, he'll
say what's up? Texting back, you know after games when
I put against him, said what's up? When I was there,

(01:32:55):
super cool and engaging. It's just it was just different.
He's just a different guy. I don't know. I mean,
I guess he's all business. It's kind of like if
if two guys don't really have much in common, it
is kind of like whoa Like when I got there
as a rookie, I never talked about far even though
I played defense, I never talked about far. Might gonna
talk too far about We have nothing in common. I mean, listen,

(01:33:17):
I don't have a lot in common with Skip Bayliss,
but I've worked in the same building. Anytime I see him,
I'm bumping into him, but just trying to soak up
and absorb anything guy's got three decades in the industry. Yeah,
I think, I guess that's different because, um, like I said,
I just got there far. I've already been there for
a three hundred years. All right. What about Kirk Cousins
when you were in Minnesota, I'm sorry, Washington. When you

(01:33:40):
were in Washington with Kirk Cousins, he's on the come up.
You actually might have been older than him at that
point him as he was ascending behind r G three, Like,
I don't know, he's here learn anything from it. How
was his personality different than Aaron Rodgers? He was, he
was open, and he's just he's a different different Aaron Rodgers.
He's just he's more open, I guess in that regards. Yeah,

(01:34:03):
I don't know. I'm just what what what? What bothers
me a little bit is when guys take things personal
or get sensitive, especially in that business and that industry
is like, it's all business, It's all business. John Snyder
cut me like three times, and I can't stand him
for that. However, he also, you know, gave me a

(01:34:27):
chance to help me salvage save my career. And um,
but I understand like those yeah, those you know took
a toll financially because you know, I lost money doing
that and we moved over the place. So yes, I
am annoyed and still bitter about that. But at the
end of the day, he made a business decision. It
wasn't a personal thing. So I mean, now, if he

(01:34:49):
you know, he asked me about somebody hit me up
or vice versa, if I got a question or what
have you, it's it's always always there. So I never
even when I play in teams, I'm never like, oh,
this guy never talked to me. You know. It's like
Charles Woodson. He was my one of my favorite players
of all time and I got I got drafted the
same year he signed, and I was not looking for
his attention for him to notice me, you know, even

(01:35:12):
though I'm like please, you know, it would be awesome,
but I would never look at it like that, like, oh,
he's not talking to me. I'm like Charles, Charles, he's
his own dude, like it is, and I play with
him like he's the nickel on the corner. You know.
I don't know, I like these stories. I don't know
how the fans out there feel, but like you know,
I was a sports fan and then you know, I

(01:35:34):
started the website and they sold. I sold that, and
then I got to F one and I gotta be honest,
Will like Will Black and you guys don't know him yet,
super nice guy. A lot as you can see me,
I'm not a former NFL player. A lot of the
NFL players I've worked with the FS one out of
the gate are going to challenge me and be like
who is this guy? How is he sitting here with me?

(01:35:54):
And they'll challenge me on air, and they pushed back hard,
and I could tell like it was one of those
trial by fires, like if you're gonna back down, then
they're just gonna run over you and not respect you.
So I pushed back and I think I earned the
respect to some of those guys down. Some guys are
cool and are just like hey, whatever, I you know,
I'm like Eric Mangini. I was a big Jets fan

(01:36:15):
and Mangini was a Jets coach, and I'm like, wow,
this is pretty cool. And Eric Mangini was very friendly
sharing all these Jet stories with me. But other guys,
you know, NBA, NFL guys are gonna challenge me and
be like, who's this guy? What are you doing here.
Did you get anybody challenging you in the locker room?
Hey man, young rookie, uh young hot shot out of
the A C C. No, No, not really. Um I

(01:36:38):
walked into a room where I had to established veterans
in Charles Woodson and Al Harris, and their style was,
we're gonna take care of our business, so you know
your job. Yeah, yeah, so if you have if they're
not gonna go They said, they're not gonna go out
of their way to help me. But if I have questions,
they're going to give me the answers because they're care

(01:37:00):
because they know I got drafted there. And Charles looked
at it like okay. They they're bringing in guys every year.
I know I know him playing well, but I still
need to make sure I stay at this level. Because
of that. I make sure he won Defensive Player of
the Year at thirty three years old playing cornerback. That's
pretty impressive, That's what I'm saying. So, um No, I

(01:37:21):
never walked in situation where it's like, who's this guy?
I think he is? Now, you do have guys that
will come into a team and if you're allowed like
they will read you. If you're there allowed and you
feel like you know you belong and all this stuff,
and you're you're almost like too confident. That's where guys
will try to humble you in a sense. You know,
they put you in situations where I mean, I mean
when I was there, it's gonna age me. But I

(01:37:42):
think my mom Green and nag Daveport were the running
backs when I was a rookie, and they might make
you try to tackle those guys. Good luck with that.
But no, none, none of that stuff. Man. Um. That's
why I like guys just don't just be sensitive. You know.
It's like, I know Aaron Rodgers is different, but you know,
came in as rookie. Some of my teammates were married

(01:38:03):
for like ten years with kids. Like, yeah, you don't
have a lot in common. Well, I bring all this
up to to kind of get to Lamar Jackson, who
came into the league. Remember there were people on not
on you know, FS one on ESPN challenging can Lamar
Jackson even played quarterback? It'd be better as a receiver
running back. And then he goes in, sits behind Flacco,
takes over and was outstanding as a runner. Gets to

(01:38:26):
the playoffs, and remember people forget in that playoff game
against the Chargers, he was nearly benched in the third
or maybe early fourth quarter because he couldn't do anything.
And Lamar Jackson the way he has kind of flipped
the script m v P leader team has adapted. He's
totally different than anything you else you've seen in the

(01:38:48):
NFL team. And like mark ingram Okay, I followed his career.
He was never this verbose he's at the podium now
like he's like the leader, like keeping up, like anybody
got any problem with Lamar jack and you come find
me outside the stadium. I love that. I love how
they eve embrace Lamar Jackson. And I don't know will
is he here to stay? Or is this kind of

(01:39:11):
another fat a wildcat? If you will, um can this last?
Do you think Lamar Jackson and this running south is
a long term thing or is this we'll see? I
think it's a long term thing in terms until teams
are gonna have to adjust or draft differently, because what's
what's happening is all these defensive players are so used

(01:39:33):
to going against spread offenses in college and air raid
and all this. You know, all these type of past
happy offenses. And then so you get athletic linebackers who
can cover and play the run, and you get defensive
end or defensive lineman who can rush the passion because
that's what you gotta do it, right, you gotta get
after the quarterback. So here comes the Ravens with three

(01:39:55):
tight ends, you know, three running backs. You know they
might the wishbone all times and just run it down
your throat. They are they are physically abusing and wearing
teams out. This isn't like, oh, this is something new
and innovative. No, it's physical football. You know. It's like
New England had to take that loss in order to

(01:40:16):
figure out what's going on because you can't you can't
simulate it in practice. So it's like people were hoping
New One is gonna win, but Baltimore was definitely gonna
win that game, and it was a loss that New
England needed so that they can figure out what because
I think right now Newing is just like, Okay, how
are we gonna beat the Ravens. They're gonna look at
the rest of the teams and play them. But the
best that it comes down to, and he's in a
situation where I mean give credit to Baltimore for once

(01:40:40):
again changing the entire offense in in less than a
year to make it you know, accustomed to uh Lamar
And yeah, we could say great Roman, Yes it was
in uh san Fran what Kaepernick and then even last
year Marty Mortenerweg was there, who was phillies with Michael
Vick when he went off that year, and Chip Kelly's

(01:41:03):
first year, I think, yes, yea was a coach that
money morn Away. Um, So just give credits to all that,
and I think I think it's gonna it's gonna last
because at the end of the day, in football, if
you can play strong defense and if you can run
the football, I mean that's everything. Yeah. Well, you know
there's like a chess match, right the Chargers game last

(01:41:25):
year against the Ravens in in the regular season, Ravens
beat him. What the Charger do the next meeting they
came out with I think five or six defensive backs,
six defensive backs and totally Lamar wasn't ready. Yeah, because
they learned. Gus Bradley, the de coordinator for the Chargers,
figure like, okay, we can't have a bunch of linebackers
out there, He's gonna run by everybody. So what the
Ravens in the off season was, Oh, we'll just counter

(01:41:47):
by adding mark Ingram a big running back. And now,
as you said, we go with the three tight end sets.
So the Patriots just saw that. What's your guess as
a defensive former player, what's your guess is what the
Patriots throw with them if they meet again in the playoffs?
Do they go heavy and like maybe a five defensive lineman,
one linebacker, five dbs, Like, what what's the strategy? I

(01:42:10):
think the I think the next strategy is going to
be and I thought the Rams were going to do this?
Is that? Um, yeah, of course you want to load
the box and play man, but you put your best,
your best cover guy on Mark Andrews the tight end.
The tight end. So Gilmore, who's I mean, defensive player
of the year, can it right? He's been tremendous. Yes,

(01:42:33):
you because you have you have guys that are fast enough,
you know, to hang with Hollywood, that could hang with him.
You still obviously need help overtop, but I think you
do that and you make you make the other receivers win.
You make you know, Willie sneed when you make Seth Robberts.
When you make those guys win, you know, and if
they and if they do, if you stop the run
and Seth Robbers and Willie Sneed end up beating you,

(01:42:54):
then then they earn Belichick's got the corners. That that
probably ain't happen in it. I don't know, it probably
is not. But you know, this reminds me now of
when we played New England the Super Bowl. There's that
sound bite. Make them go to Manninghan. Don't let him
go to Hakim Nicks. Make them go to Mario Manningham.
Eli went to Mario Manningham made that unreal catch up

(01:43:15):
the sideline, you know, lucky. Yeah, but but hey, if
they get that, they earned it. So I think that's
that's what's gonna be the plan. And I thought the
rams are gonna do it because I don't know if
you met Jalen Ramsey but have not. He that is
a big dude. He is a that is a big cornerback.
He honestly, he's he's probably six to fifteen. And I

(01:43:38):
met Jalen when he was in high school. We did
uh a defensive back video with um A Football University.
And even then I was like, I looked at him.
I was like, dude, he was sixteen. I was like,
he's gonna be a first round pick. It's a big boy.
He's gonna be a first round pick, no question about it. Um.
But yeah, you have to because what happens is it's
it's gonna be a mismatch on Mark Mark Andrew. He

(01:44:01):
goes against a small cornerback, you know they're gonna run
a corner oute. And that's what happened against New England.
He ran a corner out on one of the smaller
corners most him. Sometimes he's too athletic for linebackers. So yeah,
it's it's it's hard man there. Like I said, there
was no magic trick. It is just abuse. Sorry to
go on. No, no, that's good stuff. I think people
are getting smarter and learning some stuff. So let's let

(01:44:22):
me ask you now. So we've established it, we both
think Lamar is probably here to stay. We'll see what happens.
I just want to let everybody know they gotta win
a playoff game before I can crown him, like, you know,
the best quarterback ever. I do think he's the MVP leader.
I love what I've seen from Lamar. Who would you
rather have Will Blackman over the next five years, Lamar
Jackson or Patrick Mahomes. Where am I if I'm in

(01:44:46):
Baltimore to give me give me Lamar? If with that offense? Yeah,
I mean, but but we talked about this um during
the break is you know, Stephen was asked a question
who is the best quarterback in the NFL? And that
is an open end of question because I right, I
believe right now the best quarterback based on the description

(01:45:07):
of a quarterback is Lamar Jackson. Who a quarterback who
directs and runs the offense? And you know, Stephen got
into about all these passing percentages passing TV's just's like, no,
who directs the offense, whether it's throwing or running? And
I think whoever, I think he's running his offense better
than anybody. Now that the communey argument for for Russell Wilson,

(01:45:29):
that is legit. I can not argue against that, but
I believe it's Lamar. Now, if I if someone asked
me who is the best quarterback based on skill set
in general, you know it's hard. I always say Aaron Rodgers,
But Russell Wilson is probably this is this is that
m v P debate in the NBA. You know Steph

(01:45:50):
Curry was the MVP. But who's the best player every year? Right?
So couldn't you theoretically say every year the best player
is Aaron Rodgers. That's valid. I mean it's a tough one, right,
but I would we both agree, Lamar Jackson m v
P right now? So coming up next year on the
Dan Patrick Show, is it too late for Jason Garrett

(01:46:10):
to save his job? Huge game for the Cowboys in
a few hours, we'll talk to one of the top
Cowboys insiders. Next here on the Dan Patrick Show, blood
Out start quarterback for the Lions. Is blood out or
just blow blow? Blow back? Here on the Dan Patrick Show,

(01:46:31):
he's Will black Man. I am Jason McIntyre. Thanksgiving. I
like working Thanksgiving morning. Wasn't a lot of traffic. I
know a lot of people are listening based on going
on social media and my text messages rolling in. I
hope everybody's having a good Thanksgiving, Will Black When you

(01:46:51):
get first pick at the Thanksgiving table sides, you get
first pick before anybody dips in, What is your number
one choice? Mac and Cheese would have glad Chard, Yes, sir,
you lost me with the chardonnay. But yes, I'm all
mac and cheese is my number one, no doubt. It's
not even close green. Okay, what's a close second. My

(01:47:14):
wife's stuffing is great, man, You know what would be
battling if we were at the table because I like stuffing.
I like the dark meat. I'm not a white meat
kind of guy. Here's interest was interesting. So my my
wife are when we were still engaged, our first thanksgiven.
She you know, she made she made food before, but

(01:47:36):
never never a feast, a feast and literally made the turkey,
had her own, you know, special rub for the turkey.
Killed it made. I liked the super Tato castle roll
from Ruth Chris. She got the recipe and made that
what killed it? Wait? Wait, this is dating or engaged?
This is our first year together. Okay, so yeah, you're dating.

(01:47:58):
She's probably still trying to impress you. You we were
already engaged, Okay. I proposed in four weeks. I another
story four weeks anyhow, Hold hold on hold, we got
an interview coming up with the cowboys inside of but
we need to put that on pause. We got engaged
will after four weeks? Yeah, where'd you. Okay, let's let's start.

(01:48:18):
Where did you guys? Meet met her here? Actually, actually
thore a friend was doing dating app you could be honest,
it's not okay. So you made it through a friend,
blind date or had you It was kind of like
exchange numbers, spoke, you know, and then I was like, Hey,
I'm gonna come out here to hang out. I was
living in Miami at the time, so I flew out here.

(01:48:40):
You live in South Beach, SOUTHA. Oh boy, here, that's
a dangerous area. You know what though, But always, like
I said, bulletproof mine. You know that was good man.
So you come out on the date, met her and
never went back to Miami. My friend said, what the
hell happened? I was like, man, cupist shot, you're right
in the bag. Boom. Four weeks years later, roll okay,

(01:49:05):
let me ask she hopefully you'd not listen. Let me
ask were you on any kind of rebound or anything?
Not at all? Four weeks? Oh my gosh, it took
me like three years of dating. Wow. Will Blackman gets
engaged after four weeks. All right, we're back here on
the Dan Patrick Show. He's Will Blackman. I'm Jason McIntyre.

(01:49:25):
Joining us now. Cowboys insider Clarence Hill Jr. From the
Start Telegram, Clarence, what's up? Happy Thanksgiving? What's up guys?
How you guys doing Thanksgiving? To you too awesome? Thanks
for joining us on this lovely holiday. Uh, let's get
started right out of the gate. Jerry Jones, Why on
earth is he saying this Thanksgiving week about Jason Garrett's future?

(01:49:49):
I mean, it can't be a happy Thanksgiving for Garrett.
He's got to face a winning team. He hasn't beaten
one of those this year. Yeah, I mean Jerry likes
to attend him. I mean that's that's that's the start there.
I mean, I mean, we already knew Jason Garrett was
on the hot seat. He was put on notice at
the start of the season when he didn't get a
contract extendon. The goal from the beginning was not just

(01:50:10):
get to the playoffs, but get to the championship game.
With the Super Bowls, you may not get a contract extension.
I mean, he doesn't have a contract. And they've been
to the playoffs, they've won the East, they won a
wild card game. They haven't gotten uh further than they
haven't got to a championship games in and really Jerry
help Jason put a team together they thought was the
most talented team since the nineties. I mean, they signed

(01:50:32):
Robert Quinn, they traded for you know, Michael Bennon. You know,
they gave Zeke a contract extension. They gave the market
Park Lawrenson contract extension. They gave Jayleen Sment the contract extension.
They have Deck played the best football of his career.
They have a Marty Cooper. They really thought this team
would ready to take the next step in their flounder
And at six and five Jerry's piste off. Wow, I

(01:50:53):
can't say that word in London. Clarence Tellis is well
black when how's it going? What's up? How are you doing?
And I enjoy following you on Twitter? Think you're hilarious. Question.
So I mentioned earlier that I watched UM that all
or Nothing, the document that they did right, and I
noticed that and a lot of of the coaches only

(01:51:14):
a season quotation coaches only meetings. Jerry Jones was in
there running the meeting. He made me once a week
or something like that. I don't know why they act
like he was doing. He's in there every day that's
what it seems like. I know it's TV, but it
seems like, you know and everyone it's a coaches meeting.
But Jason was being quiet the whole time. You know,

(01:51:36):
you know, you know, Jerry the GM. Now he's not
just the owner, he's also the gen so so he
has a right to be uh you know, in charge
and involved with with all of that. But he just
goes to I think if it's once a week, he
goes that that that overall coaches media is not every day.
But listen, Jerry told you from ninety nine. I mean,

(01:51:57):
it's ain't nothing new, So why Jimmy left? Mean, come on,
Jerry's been involved, you know, with every coach, maybe not
as much with Bill Parcels, but Jerry has been involved.
And and it's one reason why Jerry really people understand
Jerry wants Jason to succeed. Jerry's wanted Jason succeed. All
lost why Jason has really been here this long, being
sect a mediocre COVID the media correctly because he allows

(01:52:20):
Jerry to be Jerry. He understand the situation jerk and
being meeting to Jerreck and have two or three press
comes a week and it's not a big deal because
Jason understands the landscape. So he wanted Jason to succeed, truly,
because he allows this whole situation to go on. And
again that's why he's frustrated. I think Jerry realized, and

(01:52:40):
he's realized this week that there will be no ferry
tale anything. There's no saving Jason Garrett. At this point.
The Cowboys are what they are and they will have
to move on after the season, barring some miracle turnaround
that no one seems thing's gonna gonna happen. He really
thought lastingly against the Patron's gonna be like last year
against the Saints when they came at and and and
and really beat a good team and it has spurred

(01:53:03):
them on, and he hoped that will be the same
case with the Patriots. Of the Cowboys that struggled all season,
losing the Jets and lose the close games, and if
they can only put it together, just the Patriots, they
can show what they were truly about. The further th
on of some miracles season. We realized last week that
there will be no fair tale in the There's no savings,
Jason Garrett. We're talking with Clarence hill Uh covers the
Cowboys for the Start Telegram. All right, Clarence, let me

(01:53:25):
ask you this though in reality, Jerry Jones could say
all he wants about dumping Jason Garrett, But you're telling
me you're gonna dump a guy who's had Dak now
for four years. Jack's having his best year. A new
guy is gonna come in, and what I want to
get his own offensive coordinator to. I mean, it makes
no sense to dump Garrett and then you're gonna have

(01:53:46):
to pay Dak thirty five million or maybe even more.
And the new coach it ain't gonna be Urban Meyer.
We both agree on that, Like the new coach is
gonna automatically want a team when you know it's hard
to build around a quarterback. Make it thirty five mill
was stopping stop with the money man. You know it
is what it is. You gotta pay that. You're trying
to pay that. You know everybody got their money. That

(01:54:06):
is is more than earned his ferrits there coming out
of the fourth round pick. You got a more than
see if it's not decks fault, you have on one
and you have put a team together before through his
first four years and it's the process. Let the man
get his money. That's that. Nothing to do with that.
Now they can't I keep Jason. I mean they've they've
done this. You know they can't keep Jason. So yes,

(01:54:27):
you're gonna go get a new coach you made, promote
Christian Charld and keep your current offers corner because it's
really more about leadership and coaching than than necessarily having
to do that. Or you could go. You know, obviously
Lincoln Roley is a hot name down here. You know,
Matt Ruling Baylor's a hot name around here. He would
could Jets try to hire him as as a head
coach last year a lot of proteins after Baylor's coaching

(01:54:48):
Matt Rule, Uh, I would look at Greg Roman, you
know the offers corner in Baltimore. Here's a guy who
knows how to develop a quarterback. You see what he's
done with Lamark Jackson. You know he's somebody hot name.
You know that that that people are gonna look at
after the season. But you know they have to when
they move you know, if they don't and they're not,

(01:55:08):
but you know, bar Her get anything miraculous, but you
know when they move on from Jason, their options out
there that they can go get they can marry with
Dak and keep this thing going. But it is what
you have to draft, will you know, you go, you
pay your quarterback and pay receive and you pay your
running back and then you have to you know, draft
will and and and make some decisions other decisions other places.

(01:55:28):
But you know, don't be growing, don't don't don't not
pay that, don't don't don't don't get on deck some money.
He deserves his money at this point. Yeah. And I
actually brought up Christoph shard Or earlier in our show
because I know him from Seattle, and right, it's like, okay,
you go get Lincoln Ride, then you're gonna he's gonna
have to want his guy. I don't think you touched
the offense. Um. I think what Kellymore is doing right

(01:55:51):
now is is sufficient. And like you said, Doc has
earned his money, and right, I think it's it's a
matter of just overall leadership and the culture of the team.
And I believe, you know, yeah, just keeping in the house.
And I like someone like Christia Chard, you know, I
think he's been well received. Why he's there, And um,
I've seen what he's done in Seattle. So I percent agree,

(01:56:13):
Like if if they were to move from death, that
would be my pit. Right And you know there's talking
about run rivera you know, and and and you know
where the Carolina moves off from him. You know after
this season, you know again there are some options out there.
But at this point, you know, the Jason Garrett error
is over. Talking with Clarence Hill Jr. Of The Star Telegram,

(01:56:36):
This Dan Patrick Interviews brought to you by Mercedes a MG.
Be prepared for whatever comes your way in the all
new g T four door coupe. Because life is a race.
Visit your local dealership for a test drive today. All right, Clarence,
let me let me get ask. We've got two more
questions here. First off, this Deak Prescott love has gotta stop. Okay.
I know it's happy Thanksgiving it all, But Clarence, we're
talking about a guy against winning teams. Six tds, five

(01:56:59):
interceptions here. I mean, come on, Claire's why are we
gassing up Dak Prescott? He has not He was not
great against the Patriots zero tds. He was not great
against the New Orleans Saint zero tds, three interceptions against
the Packers. What are we doing here? Blames blame Kirk peasants.

(01:57:19):
I see what you did against the Packers, and I
see what you did against the Vakums. You know you
brought up uh the Saints game. Wasn't the Papers game
if you didn't bring up the passing numbers against the
vacuum in the Packers? Yeah? No, No, he was doing
against against You didn't bring up those powers convenient? That
was convenient to your argument. Well, he do three holes
and he made he made the third, He made the

(01:57:40):
fourth down throw what should have been caught? Right? You know, listen,
it's not even about deck level, it's the player level.
Let's the man get his money. The man was their
fourth round pick that saved this team. They were he
was their second fourth round pick. You know how much
you know they got him on the cheek. Was like
the seventy second highest played quarterback in the league last year.

(01:58:03):
You look at his number this year. If you look
where you get this from a starting quarterback standpoint, and
where he ranked as far as salary, He's severely underpaid.
It's time for that to be made up. It's just
fair his life. Come on, man, watch Jerry watching Jerry.
Watching Jerry get a quarterback and starting quarterback, one of

(01:58:24):
the winningest quarterbacks in two sixties, left you to two
super Bowls. Get him on the cheep and I have
to pay the freight. What are you talking about? Pay
the freight man? This is well, I'm on board. I agree,
you gotta pay him. It's it's overdue, long overdue. They
got They've got in a conversation with James, James Winston

(01:58:46):
and married on who to pay. It's like, man, if
you don't pay that, yeah, and it's crazy. And again
the other thing is, let's just be honest about this.
I've been here since Covingty Cowboys. I remember for the
for the it's on me that there's no question you
know I got here. But but I remember the quarterback

(01:59:07):
carousel between Troy Aikman and Tony Romo from the Answer
to Ride and Clinton Starners and Ryan Leaves and I
mean Ted Hutchinson's and everything else. Darry don't want to
do that again. You If not that, then you're herded.
A's a it's a quarterback. Look at all those top
quarterbacks that have been picked and last year draft who've

(01:59:28):
turned out to be nothing. You guarantee that you're gonna
get that corps. You have a starting quarterback who can
be your starter for ten years. No matter what you
say about winning record, Dak has led them a two
NFCY Champions of the Game. That has not been their problem,
even if some of those losses, there are other bigger issues.
You know, you go back to that same game. You
know Jason Whitt and Zeke had a fumble. The whose

(01:59:50):
with a different making plays in that game not des play, Okay,
Bary Cooper got shut down by the quarterback just like
in the Papers game. That's that was a bigger issue.
And the please go back to the Jets game, Mark
Cooper plays four Steven that run the car. Those were
bigger issues that came to dex play. He brought them
back and gave a champ to try to win that game.
But you have a franchise quarterback. You're not moving on

(02:00:12):
from Dak Prescott. And since he's gonna be here, play
the man, oh boy Clarence till he loves Dak Prescott.
So we'll see about Jason Garrett Clarence say great stuff,
thank you from Jason McIntyre and Will Blackman have a
happy Thanksgiving and hey, you know, maybe Jason Garrett wins
the game today and your guy Dak beats a good team.
That would be awesome. Alright, Oh boy, that was something,

(02:00:37):
was it? Not? Well? Clarence off the top rope? He
fired up passionate. He must not be cooking this morning.
I'm sorry. I'm not done with Dak. Um he did
not get them to two championship games. Okay, he's got
I count one playoff win in his career. Um, well
we'll get we gotta do more that because Will is
on the pro DAC team. I'm not anti Dak, just
to be clear. I like him, but I don't love

(02:01:00):
Get to read already. Hey, this is Jason McIntyre. I'm
with Will black Bean in for Dan Patrick. If you
missed any of our celebrity interviews this week from the
Mercedes AMG Man Cave, just go to the Dan Patrick
app where you can watch and listen from inside the
Mercedes AMG Man Cave Mercedes AMG Driving Performance. Um, we

(02:01:21):
don't have much time left in the show, Will, I
don't know. We could end with Lebron, we could end
with Dak. Yeah. Thanksgiving. We I'm gonna get back to
you getting engaged after four weeks. We got a lot
of options. We could get to the irishman. I'll give
you the choice. You're the former superstar. We're live on
Instagram on h I think I don't know. Yeah, I'm not.

(02:01:43):
I need to get some follows. Bro Um No, like
you said, you're not finished with that, and I would say, right,
he hasn't been, you know, a winning team and all
that stuff. But once again the going rate blame Kirk
because Kirk had all those primetime woes and the winning
team woes and still got his I think he got
twenty seven or Twitter ryme y Ryan, you can give

(02:02:05):
that thirty. I'll live with that. Okay, he's gonna be
a paid has done deal that all right? We will
lock up the show, uh Dan Patrick Show. After this.
He's Will Blackman. I'm Jason McIntyre DJ over here. I
thought that was an instrumental. I I cannot play that.
I thought that was an instrumental. Let me give you
some more musical quack on back here on the Dan

(02:02:30):
Patrick Show. Happy Thanksgiving to everybody. He's Will Blackman. I'm
Jason McIntyre. The holidays are here and the guys that
The Dan Patrick Show have created a holiday gift box
that will make a great holiday gift for you or
your favorite Dan Patrick Show fan. This is truly a
limited edition opportunity. The Dan Patrick Holiday Box includes one

(02:02:52):
of a kind, archy designed long sleeve DP Show T shirt,
a classic vintage wool DP Show pennant, a great sports bottle,
some Todd stickers, and every Dan Patrick Show Holiday Box
includes a free Mystery T shirt. The Holiday Box goes
on sale this Friday in the Dan Patrick Store, on

(02:03:13):
dan patrick dot Com, and the Dan Patrick app. All right,
well that was something with Dan Uh Dak Prescott talking
with Clarence Hill. Listen, I'm not a out on Doc.
I just I mean, he's got the best offensive line
in the league. He's got a top three running back
and Ezekiel Elliott. He's got all the weapons he needs,

(02:03:35):
and the guy is not winning all these games for
the Cowboys. We see Russell Wilson in Seattle, lesser offensive line,
lesser skill position players, uh, and he seems to magically
win every game. No. Yeah, so I'm gonna ask a
couple of people. I got a couple of guys on
Twitter saying don't compare uh, Dak and Kirk cousins, and

(02:03:59):
I was like, only thing only I was referencing was,
you know, this year he has not been a winning team.
And the knock on Kirk, by the way Kirk is
that's my bro Okay, resting together. We're still cool and
I've been a big Kirk supporter all year. It's just
the knock against him was he has not beaten um.
His record against winning teams or prime time games have

(02:04:20):
not been good at all. And he still went off
and got paid. You know, I think he deserves his money.
I don't think there's any issue which should Dad get paid.
Obviously he's gonna get paid. But that's the that's my
only reference when I was like blamed Kurt because that's
that's the going rate. Yeah, but there's a big difference
between when people are saying, well, Pat Mahomes when he

(02:04:41):
gets his deal is going to be forty million, so
Dak should ask for thirty eight, now thirty five. Kirk
is making like, if you're telling me Dad's gonna get
thirty that's fine. But Clarence Hill and a lot of
the Dallas media are saying, wow, I mean the going
right now is this I mean again, you get them
the going right because I'll tell you right now, guys,

(02:05:02):
you want to give him that money, that's fine. He
gets thirty five million, and you can just forget. You
can lock off somebody like Byron Jones. I don't know
if they could be able to afford him in the secondary,
Ma Cooper, Marie Cooper, can they afford him? I mean,
I guess you've got to have to roll with Gallup.
I don't know that that's the problem in the NFL
as they make it so difficult to build a winning
team when you pay your quarterback Matt Ryan, perfect example,

(02:05:26):
gets to the Super Bowl awesome, gets paid. What have
they done since I meant your guy from BC Ravens Flacco,
Joe Flacco, that's right right now. The wave is we're
gonna get a young QB and pay everybody now and
hopefully we can get to who we need to get
to because eventually we're gonna have to pay. According my
Jets and Sam Donald, now they are like that before paid. Indeed,

(02:05:53):
now the Jets are in a weird spot because they
had the coaching change. They made some badge to GM change.
GM screwed up last offseason made some bad moves. I
still think they're close, but you will. It's just a
difficult spot right now. I don't know ultimately, would you
want to go work in the NFL front office or
if if so? I get this question a lot. I

(02:06:15):
get asked, would you coach in the NFL? And I
would say, heck, no, no no, because after playing twelve years,
I wouldn't want to do those hours again. UM. If
I were to do anything in the NFL, it would
be front office. UM. I have had like true like legit,
you know, visions of like, okay, I could see myself
in the future being a general manager or something like that. UM.

(02:06:37):
I love evaluating film. I love Washington film, I love UH.
I think it would be super cool to be part
of something to build a team. So definitely front office.
I got some breaking news here. I mean it's it's
kind of big. It's important if you got if you
play fantasy football. Um. And for the Indianapolis Colts, t
Y Hilton has had a setback. According to the Colts,

(02:07:01):
his CAF injury has flared up again and t Y
Hilton is not going to play against Tennessee. The Numbers
without t Y Hilton are not good. Uh, they're already
down Marlon Mack the running back, So no t Y Hilton.
All of a sudden, the Colts look like it may
not be heading to the playoffs. This is a big
game against Ryan Tannehill. By the way, how about Ryan
Tanehill showing out no pressure with Ryan? So yeah, well

(02:07:28):
he can he can do and he can he can
go there and he can do no wrong. Basically, Well
he's still only like twenty eight, right, Yeah, yeah, I
don't I'm kind of it's tough. It's tough, but we're
talking about the Colts now and the show's wrapping up.
He's Will black Man. I'm Jason McIntyre. We are in
for Dan Patrick here on the Dan Patrick Show, which

(02:07:50):
is brought to you by Mercedes a MG driving performance.
All right, we got less than nineties seconds. Will, Is
there any Thanksgiving fun you want to get off your
chest here? Um? So yeah, I remember, Oh one time
my wife made Thanksgiving dinner and um, Charles was actually

(02:08:10):
my neighbor in the same building, Charles Woodson, and he asked,
you can come down and get some food. Hey, rook,
you got any food. I was like my second year
in third year aftergot the third year. Yeah, I was
like absolutely yeah, And I forgot that I had a
computer in our middle room that I never really changed.

(02:08:33):
The wallpaper and the wall paper. The wallpaper was him
in college catching U picking the football. He didn't. He
did not. It was Rose Bowl, Yeah against Washing he
did not. He did not see it because I changed
it quickly. But that would have been That would been
pretty empac. We are back tomorrow in the Dan Patricks
so so we'll do college football picks and all that.

(02:08:53):
Let's let me get your Thanksgiving football picks against the spread,
of course. Bears favored by five against David Blow and
the Lions. Who you got Bears and I got Bears
as well. Cowboys favored by six and a half against
the Buffalo Bills. That's gonna be tough, but man, I'm
gonna Buffalo. I'm going Buffalo as well. And the nightcap.

(02:09:15):
Saints favored by seven. Hey, you're gonna want to monitor
Julio Jones. He's questionable. Saints favored by seven. Saints get revenge,
they cover seven. Saints Saints cover seven. Win. He's growing
black man. I'm Jason McIntyre. Podcast will be up later
everybody happy, Thanksgiving,
