top the craziness of what happened in the early games today,
(00:27):
but we do have a game where Taylor Swift was
at We have one team honoring their Super Bowl champs
from the past, and you never know what the Arizona
Cardinals may do. It's all stuff we're going to dive into.
It is a Fox Sports Red Zone Radio Sunday. Let's
talk about one of the big early games and a
comeback in Title Town.
Speaker 3 (00:47):
Now it's time for the NFL on Fox Focus.
Speaker 2 (00:54):
We told you there was a lot of crazy in
the early window. That includes in Green Bay where the
pack rallied from a seventeen to nothing deficit to top
the New Orleans Saints eighteen to seventeen. He was on
the call as the analyst for the Fox broadcast Jonathan
Wilma joins the program. Hey, Jonathan, good to talk to you.
Speaker 4 (01:13):
How are you good, How are you doing?
Speaker 2 (01:15):
Let's do it well, let's dive right into it. The
game surely seemed to change when Derek Carr went out
with the injury. What did the New Orleans Saints not
do to protect that seventeen to nothing lead.
Speaker 4 (01:28):
They didn't adjust. You have to adjust within the game.
What they ran in the first half was working very well,
especially defensively, all of a sudden, Matt Lafloor, Jordan Love,
they adjusted in the second half and the Saints didn't.
So that's usually what happens when one team stays stagnant
or you know, stubborn. And you got to give a
(01:51):
ton of credit to Packers offense and of course the
defense making sure that they became suffocating in that second half.
Speaker 5 (02:00):
Jonathan, how big of a you know, like, like just
a statement? Is this to some of the teams who
draft first round quarterbacks? And the Packers have had success
with farv who sat well, he had a bad year
and then they traded for him. Then they sit Rogers,
and then they sit Love and then they get competent
(02:22):
play out of them instead of playing them so young
and so early.
Speaker 4 (02:26):
Well, that's always been the kind of the philosophy.
Speaker 2 (02:29):
Right.
Speaker 4 (02:30):
One school thought is to rest or excuse me, not
play your starter. Let him learn before he goes out there.
And fortunately the Packers have had a lot of success
with that. But then you have other owners who are
not as a patient and they draft a big name player.
They see the ability, the physical attributes, and they want
(02:50):
that player on the field as early as possible, and
they feel that they'll learn the game as they're taking
their lumps playing it. So you know, I've seen it
work both ways. Right, Peyton Manning took all his lumpch
three and thirteen his first year and the rest is history.
And then you also see Tom Brady who sat, as
you mentioned Aaron Rodgers, he sat. So you know, you
(03:12):
can really look at either the player itself or the philosophy.
But so far it's worked for the Packers.
Speaker 2 (03:19):
Jonathan Wilma joining us here on Fox Sports Radio. He's
George Reister, the NFL VET. I'm Dan Beyer. How much
did the last week's fourth quarter stinker do you think
carried over into this game for Green Bay? Because it
was a topic of conversation last week. They blew their
own lead in Atlanta last week. How much was was that?
Do you think that carried over maybe the slow start
(03:40):
this week, and do you think it was any cause
for the reason why they had the fourth quarter outburst.
Speaker 4 (03:46):
No, I don't think there was much carryover. Watching their
Friday practice, they were very focused, very committed. It was
a fast practice. It was a good practice efficient. I
think that sometimes you just don't have your a game,
whether it's to start or to finish. And fortunately in
this league, the talent is so spread out and it's
(04:08):
so even among the teams. That becomes a mental lock
it in. Make sure we're not beating ourselves. If you
do that, then you always have a chance to win.
And I think that was the biggest thing for the Packers.
You know, they start off obviously very sluggish, a lot
of self inflicted penalties, and then after that they just
got going. Mentally they locked in, and you can you
(04:30):
as a Packer player, coach, or fan, you can see
how good the Packers can be once they lock in.
Speaker 5 (04:38):
Now, both of these teams were without their lead running back,
and you know, and the Camarrow will be back soon.
Well next week, most likely, and like, how important is
it for both of these teams to find a running
game if they are to be playoff you know, NFC contenders,
(04:58):
it's very important.
Speaker 4 (05:00):
You look at the NFC Championship game last year. San
Francisco forty nine Ers can run the ball that will.
Philadelphia Eagles run the ball that will. So that's never
going to change you go back to you even look
at the Kensas City Chiefs. They have a checko who
can run the ball very well. So if you want
to be a contender, legitimate contender late in the season,
(05:22):
when it gets cold, it's bad weather, you have to
be able to rely on your run game. If you
don't have that, I see it being very difficult to
go deep into the playoffs.
Speaker 2 (05:32):
Are you a Jordan Love believer, Jonathan, Oh.
Speaker 4 (05:37):
Yeah, I wouldn't say believe. I'm a big fan of
Jordan Love. Right now, I see a guy that he
did have the win interception today, but over the course
of three games he only has one turnover. That's most important.
That tells me that he understands good play, bad play,
it doesn't matter. Don't make it worse by turning the
football over. If I get sacked Okay, don't make it
(05:58):
a sack fumble from scrambling, don't force the ball into
a window that will get intercepted. So from that standpoint,
I always will rock with a quarterback that understands not
to put his team in a worse position. And then
from there, I'm seeing a guy grow up that's able
to make now these long outside throws, seven routes, corner routes,
(06:21):
And if you can do that on a consistent basis,
I mean the sky is the limit for you. Offensively.
Speaker 5 (06:27):
Yeah, between watching film and what you saw today, is
either one of these teams, Now, granted there's growth that
happens throughout the season, but is either one of these
rosters good enough to be a team that can represent
the NFC in the Super Bowl.
Speaker 4 (06:46):
Both rosters are good enough, Neither roster is good enough
to just wing it. And it's evident from last week
to this week you have to play sixty minutes period.
That's and so you will be able to win a
lot of games, but you have to stay focused and
locked in for the full sixty minutes. We saw when
(07:09):
the Packers they let off, they took their foot off
the gas pedal. In Week two, they end up losing.
Just now, watch the Saints. They take their foot off
the gas pedal in the second half and they lose.
So no team, neither team is good enough to just
go out there and you know, kind of just run
around and make it look good and then still squeak
out an ugly win. That's not going to happen. They
(07:31):
have to be locked in, but they do, and they
stay focused. They have a chance.
Speaker 2 (07:35):
He's Jonathan Vilma. Saw the Packers come back against one
of your former teams, the Saints today, eighteen to seventeen.
The Green Bay improves to two and one on the season.
Saints fault to two and one. Jonathan, Great to talk
to you again. Can't wait to catch up again the season.
Thanks man, And Jonathan Vilma is gone just like that.
Speaker 1 (07:55):
Just to get him today. Yeah, he's gonna get him today.
On the way out. I was gonna get him on the.
Speaker 2 (08:00):
Way out, man. Maybe that's why I hung up.
Speaker 5 (08:02):
Maybe that that might have been because I was going
get him on the way out.
Speaker 2 (08:06):
Cardinals are in the end zone. Rondell Moore has just
taking it to the house about fifty yards. They're up
on the Cowboys, extending their lead. Now fifteen to three
early in the second quarter. Chiefs just got into the
end zone as well. We think we think that's the case.
Kansas City a review. Patrick Mahomes touchdown pass is being
(08:28):
looked at. Ooh, I think they're gonna be about a
half yard shorts.
Speaker 5 (08:32):
And Cardinals are gonna have to find a new way
to lose this game because people are going to start
thinking something is funny if they do it the exact
same way they did against the Giants a week ago.
Speaker 1 (08:43):
Because yeah, because uh.
Speaker 2 (08:46):
Fishy, I'll say this, the uh, the Cardinals are going
to fight, fight, fight, as you said, but when it
comes down to it, they may just want to lose anyway.
Speaker 5 (08:57):
Of course, they want to lose anyway. They were happy
as hell with the outcome of that Giants game. They're like, ooh,
there are a couple players that deserve the sty We
just got to figure out who those are.
Speaker 2 (09:09):
Clyde Edwards Laire has now just gotten into the end zone.
I don't think I've said that in three years, but
it just happened right now. Half yard run. He'll get
credit for one yard. I'm so tough on Clyde Edwards Hilaire,
because I had so much faith the previous three seasons.
But he does cash in from the one yard line.
So now the Chiefs are up thirteen to nothing. Extra
point coming up there. But we told you Rondale Moore
(09:31):
the touchdown for the Cardinals. They went for two because
they were up twelve and did not get it. So
chasing points already. Yeah, Rondale more forty five yard touchdown
run since we had Jonathan Vilma here. The Packers today
get that comeback victory. And there's two things that stand
(09:52):
out my mind. George. Number one, I think there is,
and it's in a really, really tough circumstance, but there
is a appreciation for Derek Carr a little bit like,
now you see what you've got when you don't have them.
And the Saints were two and zero and well on
their way and he leaves with a shoulder injury, and
I think you appreciate Derek Carr a little bit more.
(10:14):
The other thing with Green Bay, with everybody that was
out today, Christian Watson, Aaron Jones didn't play, David Baktiari
is still out, JayR Alexander was inactive, the cornerback. A
lot of pieces out, but this is a home opener.
This was, you know, the first chance that the Packer
fans got to see their team today, and there's just
(10:35):
so many different and new names stepping into unfamiliar roles.
To see them be be pedestrian at best in the
first three quarters, and then to see them turn it out,
I think it's got to be an exciting day for
Green Bay because I think if you're sitting there in
the third quarter, you're saying to yourself, my goodness, these
last four quarters that we played, including the one last
(10:57):
week in Atlanta, this has been a bit of a stinker.
What's going on here? A lot of new names to
get adjusted to. Jordan Love threw the ball forty four times,
completed twenty two of them. But you have a lot
of new names, a lot of players getting acclimated. You're
going to take this win if you're Green Bay. Romeo
Dobbs had the big touchdown catch, but again, Dantavian Wicks
a name we're gonna have to start to get familiar with.
(11:18):
Jaden Reid another guy. A lot of new names for
green Bay. That's my takeaway. These guys are kind now
you're going to start to get acclimated to them. If
you're going to see Green Bay play winning football. Yeah, yeah,
you're going to have to.
Speaker 5 (11:32):
But the most important thing is that this team is
consistent and that Jordan Love is showing the ability to
like come out and play play well.
Speaker 1 (11:43):
So I'm happy about that, of.
Speaker 5 (11:44):
Course because he's on my fantasy team, but even more so,
like after all the criticism that he endured, Oh the
Packers drafted a bus, this, this, this, there's nothing bust
about what we've seen out of Jordan Love through through
three weeks. He looks like a competent NFL quarterback and
who's getting his first start. And if this is the
(12:05):
way your first time starting goes, you'll be a Okay, I'm.
Speaker 2 (12:09):
Gonna say another thing with Jordan Love. Just watch him
if if you can, and then think about all the
other quarterbacks that you see, you know, the watch you know,
I'm sorry, you know Zach Wilson today and I know
it's against the Patriots, but you know, watch Zach Wilson play.
Watch that what you had on the other sideline with
Jameis Winston when when he came in into the game,
(12:31):
Like when we talk about like good quarterbacking in the
National Football League and Winston, by the way, put in
a tough spot. I mean, but he is a veteran.
There's just the standards that we put some of these guys,
or try to hold them to when you compare it
to the rest of the league. George just may not
be realistic, you know, in certain in certain spots, I
(12:52):
think guys are are better than we actually think they
are because we just want everybody to be Patrick Mahomes
just and Herbert you know, Joe Burrow, Josh Allen esque,
Jalen Hurts esk. It's just but it's just not the case,
like Jordan love Is. I don't want to say good
enough right now because it's not the right version of
a phrase that I want to say. But right now
(13:14):
he's fine for the Green Bay Packers, and he has
the opportunity to do on to get better.
Speaker 5 (13:19):
Yeah, oh dude, this dude has every opportunity and I'm
super happy for him, and ma'am I am. But I
was screaming at the TV today. I was screaming at
the TV today, and I know we're going to talk
about in a second, but I was screaming at the
TV and Dan all I can think about was you.
Speaker 2 (13:40):
Ah, interesting. I can't wait to find out about this
because there's some things that I want to propose to
you as well. We have the upset in Baltimore, the
Dolphins for what they did to the Denver books, my goodness,
and Brandon's Tailey did it again, but it didn't cost him,
luckily for him. He's George Reister. Hit him up at
(14:02):
George Reister. I'm Dan Byer. Find me at dan Byer
on Fox. Here's your look at your scores. Chiefs up
fourteen to nothing on the Bears early in the second quarter.
He told you Arizona's up fifteen to three on Dallas.
That one in the second quarter as well. While the Seahawks,
in a battle of field goals right now in Seattle
lead the Panthers nine to three. And there's something very
(14:24):
special about today's Seahawks Panthers game. We'll explain what that
is and BLUs all the action from the early stuff.
He's George Reister. I'm Dan Byer. That's next year on
Fox Sports Radio. It's a Fox Football Sunday. He's the
NFL VET. George Reister. I'm Dan Byer. Cowboys getting into
the end zone. Rico Daubtell with the touchdown pass from
(14:48):
Dak Prescott from about eighteen yards out. Extra point coming up.
DJ Shuk's got a touchdown pass from Andy Dalton. Extra
point was good in Seattle. So the Panthers are up
on the Seahawks four forty three left to go until halftime.
Can somebody tell me why I took the Bears or
the points today? For some stupid reason, I did. Kansas
City's up on Chicago right now, fourteen to nothing and
(15:10):
the Chiefs near midfield.
Speaker 3 (15:12):
Well, I'll tell you what I know.
Speaker 2 (15:13):
It's the dumbest I heard midway through the second quarter
at Kansas City up by Chicago fourteen nothing. Why did
you think of me today? In week three? George Reister?
Why is that? George Reister?
Speaker 1 (15:31):
Huh?
Speaker 2 (15:32):
Maybe we've lost George by the way I think, I
think maybe, Uh, that microcosm in my life? What made
you think of me? And then I have no answer,
no answer whatsoever. That there's you know, forty six years
(15:53):
right there in a nutshell. In five seconds, we'll get
the George in a bit. It is Fox Sports Sunday.
What I'm curious about was, was George gonna tell me
he thought of me as the Dolphins were racking up
all of the points that they did today in a
record setting win against the Broncos, and he was gonna
(16:14):
tell me how he was right about Tua. I'm curious
if he was going to tell me that he was
right about maybe Josh Allen wrong about Sam Howell, a
guy that I was not convinced about. Maybe that was
the case. Rough day for Sam Howell today the Commanders
picked off four times, was sacked nine times in the
(16:36):
thirty seven to three loss to the Buffalo Bills. But
there were a lot of reasons that I thought George
Reister may be thinking of me. But I just have
a feeling that it may have been from the Chargers
Vikings game. George is there? You are, there's George Reister.
Speaker 1 (16:55):
Yes, George Reister is here.
Speaker 2 (16:56):
Yes, yes you are. I had just asked, and I
had asked the question, why did you think of me today?
Why what happened in these early games that made you think, Oh.
Speaker 6 (17:08):
My good?
Speaker 5 (17:09):
Because when I was watching Brandon Staley act like a goofball,
act like a goofball on with a minute and what
fifty one seconds left, So let's paint the picture.
Speaker 1 (17:29):
The Chargers were up. They were up.
Speaker 5 (17:37):
Twenty eight twenty four when a minute and fifty one
seconds left, they were on their own twenty four yard
line and it was fourth and one, and they lined
up and shotgun with the.
Speaker 1 (17:51):
Pistol and went for it.
Speaker 6 (17:54):
I was like, what are you?
Speaker 5 (17:55):
And to make it even worse, if they if they
had got it, at least you could say, oh, okay,
they didn't get it, even to make the revision, to
make the revisionist history on a bad situation worse because ordinarily,
if if you get it, then be like, oh man,
he's onions, like he's so, he's so gutsy, and then
they went out and did it. But then you don't
(18:18):
get it too, So the revisionist history part of it
makes it even worse.
Speaker 1 (18:23):
This is a man if if they had if thanks
thank the Lord for.
Speaker 5 (18:28):
The Chargers defense getting that interception on Kirk Cousins, because
if they did not score, I'm sorry, if they did
not win that game, he should have been in the
unemployment line tomorrow. But why did you think of me?
Because because how many times have we had these go
(18:49):
for it on fourth down talks?
Speaker 2 (18:51):
Okay, all right, good, I wasn't that far off. That's
where I thought you were going.
Speaker 5 (18:55):
And and the majority of time I am not with
you on the being super conservative side.
Speaker 1 (19:02):
That's not super conservative. There's there's a difference between.
Speaker 5 (19:08):
Taking a chance in life right and making you know
and being willing to like sacrifice to build a business
that that you that not just on a whim, that
that you feel good about, that's grounded in solid research
(19:29):
and all of that stuff, right, And then there is
betting the kids college.
Speaker 1 (19:34):
Fund on on on Cardinals, on Cardinals, Cowboys, Like there's
a difference. And I don't care about you about oh man,
them against it. I don't care nothing about it. Like
there's a difference between being risky and.
Speaker 5 (19:51):
Irresponsible reckless, yes, And and Brandon Staley is now, oh
irresponsible and reckless with the Chargers and he's been and
I am all for a guy, Dan, and you know
that if that if you commit to the we're going
(20:13):
for it on fourth down a lot, and it just
is what it is, what it is cool, right, But
then last season he went from that to like starting
to like, oh man, I don't know if we should
we shouldn't drop either go down with the ship or
like like if this is the philosophy that you believe
(20:36):
in commit to it, because going half assed at it
will only lead to bad results.
Speaker 2 (20:42):
I get sticking to your guns and being who you are.
And and the data is the data. If you're going
to follow the data, it's just one of those things
you can't you can't veer from it, otherwise you're really
going to be in trouble. I understand all of that,
But I also think that there are things in football
that that have and true throughout you know, throughout time,
(21:03):
throughout the history of the game. Trust your defense, you're
up for a field goals, not gonna beat you, all
of those certain things.
Speaker 5 (21:12):
See, I'm a big believer in finishing the game with
the ball in your hands. Because weird stuff happens. People
catch hell Mary's like all sorts of goofy stuff can
cannot happen. Right, But unless you have been like if
(21:33):
the Chargers had been the the Dolphins today running the football, Okay,
like like like that that makes actually some some sense
they rush for damn near three hundred yards, or if
you are just gashing them all game, and and and
(21:54):
it's a game where you have not had one negative
rushing play the entire game, right, Okay, then go for it.
But when you are the Chargers and the way you
rush the football today, what on earth? What on earth
possessed them to believe that Aside.
Speaker 1 (22:17):
From that they had had fourteen rushes for like thirty
yards at two yards to carry? What led you to believe?
Oh yeah, oh yeah, this is a good idea. It was.
It was laughable. It was more laughable than Ohio State's
(22:41):
fourth and less than one play last night in the
fourth quarter, even though they ended up winning.
Speaker 2 (22:49):
It was.
Speaker 5 (22:51):
Crazy, Dan and I don't understand what the hell Brandon
Stay's thinking. He's supposed to be a defensive coach and
his defenses are out here getting boat raced every year.
But we're supposed to believe that because he touched Sean
mcvay's loin cloth a few years or are they aim
(23:13):
of his jacket a couple of years ago, that this
is a good football coach.
Speaker 2 (23:18):
Nope, sorry, well I don't think. I don't think today
helped him at all, except that they got to win.
And now if this spurs some sort of run or
some sort of momentum, then maybe then that's the catalyst
of it. Unfortunately for them, Mike Williams had to leave
the game with a knee injury. Chiefs in the end
zone Patrick Mahomes to Jerrick McKinnon. So they've extended their
(23:40):
lead over the Bears twenty to nothing. Extra point coming up.
But now you may have lost Mike Williams for a
little while. Austin Eckler's out charges of a bye in
week five, so you're probably not going to see Eckler
in week four. And I just in saying what I'm
saying is I don't think it. I don't think it's
going to be a catalyst. I have to stand sticking
(24:00):
to your guns. But I also think like you need
to have a governor on you to tell you when
to rev it up, to tell you when to hold back.
And I agree with you. The running game wasn't going today,
So why in the world at that time would you
think that fourth and one would be the opportunity that
you do it. You're right, it doesn't make a lot
of sense if you weren't getting that push. And that's
(24:22):
why I just think just punted away. And when I
say punted away, I have then my own dilemma in
my head because the last time that we really felt
that we saw this or the last time that this
the first time that this made headlines was when Bill
Belichick went for it on fourth and two against the
Colts in Indianapolis because he didn't want to didn't want
to punt it back to Peyton Manning, just figured that
(24:43):
they would score, and they ended up not getting the
first down short field for the Colts, they ended up
scoring anyway. And so I'm saying to myself, that's not
Peyton Manning. On the other side. For as good as
Kirk Cousins looked in a loss a week ago, it's
still it's not Peyton Manning. I still think that you
take your chance making him go sixty seven, you know,
(25:05):
seventy yards whatever the case would be, after you punt.
I think you take those chances. As think you tell
your defense that we believe in you. That can also
go a long way. It's not just we don't trust
the defense. We're gonna have our offense do our thing.
There was a lot there that I think that they
should have punted. In the end, they won their defense
guess what, got the stop that they needed to get
and then put them in a tough spot. So maybe
(25:26):
that's the way that Brandon Staley ends up ends up
spinning it and also says, well, yeah, look, the Vikings
couldn't score from the twenty four yards out that they
needed to. We got to stop when we did, but
it was a head scratcher. I didn't believe it. I
don't think that Chargers fans believe that that was the
right play. I think that they feel that they're I
think that there's a sigh of relief that they got
the win today. But I don't know how much better
(25:48):
you feel about yourself as a team after today just
because you got the win, because there seemed to still
be issues with that team. I mean, you're talking about
the Super Bowl teams who love the blow games, right, like,
you know, just find miraculous way to lose games, or
maybe in the Vikings case last year when they came
(26:08):
back against the Colts, win them. But they're so volatile.
It was gonna have to happen to somebody today and
the Chargers just happened to be on the better end
of it. Yep, all right, he's George Reister. I'm Dan Byer.
At least he thought about me today. I appreciate that. Ah,
get George hook him up at George Reister, We're live
from the Tirek dot Com studios. You can find me
at dan byro on Fox. You can find Moncey Bolagos
(26:30):
at Moncey Bolanos. She is here to give us the
latest of what's happening in this late window with Taylor
Swift watching Travis Kuls.
Speaker 7 (26:38):
I mean, that is the most important thing today, Taylor
Swift there with Donna Kelcey.
Speaker 8 (26:44):
More than you.
Speaker 5 (26:45):
How much would you pay to have Taylor Swift to
have a camera on Taylor Swift the entire game, since
you paid.
Speaker 8 (26:54):
So much to go to the common No, I'm gonna pay.
Speaker 7 (26:56):
I'm gonna pay to sit next to her, George, I'm
not gonna pay for a camera rock.
Speaker 8 (27:00):
Not at this point. But I'd pay a lot. I
already paid too much, so I would pay a lot.
I just give her all my money.
Speaker 2 (27:05):
The Bears, by the way, just fumbled, so I'm looking.
Speaker 7 (27:08):
At the Cardinals because I thought they scored. Did the
Bears fumble while I'm watching the Cardinals the Bears.
Speaker 2 (27:13):
Yeah, the Bears just fumbled were covered by the Chiefs,
so the Chiefs will have a short field again. If
anybody can can find the reason why he picked the
Bears with the points today. What but this is this
is when you are on your sabbatical for the first
two minutes of this segment. Yeah, I have no idea
why he took the Bears in the points today. None.
(27:35):
I don't know. I have no idea. I don't know either.
Speaker 1 (27:38):
You are you.
Speaker 2 (27:42):
Brain right now? I have no idea. I have zero idea.
I just like it's it was so dumb. I don't
know why. I have no idea. I'm sorry, Manzi.
Speaker 8 (27:52):
Jared McKinnon's third touchdown of the day.
Speaker 2 (27:55):
Clyde Edwards had one.
Speaker 7 (27:57):
Clyde okay, so then I think Jack mckinna just the
second touchdown for the Chiefs. They are beating the Bears
twenty one zero late in the second quarter. These three
games are all approaching halftime. Panthers beating the Seahawks thirteen
to nine.
Speaker 1 (28:11):
I'm sorry, I was thinking, well, sorry, I forgot that
my mic was on.
Speaker 8 (28:16):
Oh good, Oh you forgot we're on air and that
we're working. Is that what happened a couple of minutes
ago too? Is that what's going on?
Speaker 6 (28:23):
Well?
Speaker 8 (28:25):
No, no, we don't need to know bathroom.
Speaker 1 (28:29):
No, no, no, since you you already knew. I text
you mons Manzi, I text you I did.
Speaker 8 (28:35):
I'm still gonna I assume I'm going to call you out.
You know, you know, you know, you know.
Speaker 7 (28:40):
Flex my flex, my flex. Cardinals are beating the Cowboys.
James Connor is having his way with the Cowboys defense.
He's got seven carries, seventy one yards and a touchdown.
Cardinals up fifteen to ten, and the Cardinals have the
ball and they are approaching the red zone again.
Speaker 8 (28:56):
These three games are all approaching halftime.
Speaker 7 (28:58):
Nine games in the book. Officially in the books. We
got the Browns who beat the Titans twenty seven to three.
There was a terrible call by the rest. Did you
guys see that? They called the Marii Cooper for stepping
out of bounds and then in the close up they
were like, oh, never mind, he didn't step out of
bounds and it could have been a touchdown. It could
have it could have been, but they still won, so
it's okay. But Amari Cooper had seven receptions one hundred
(29:20):
and sixteen yards and a touchdown. Deshaun Watson two hundred
and eighty nine yards and two touchdowns in the air.
How about this Dereck Henry eleven carries for twenty yards.
Speaker 2 (29:29):
That's not good.
Speaker 1 (29:30):
That's a that is not good.
Speaker 8 (29:33):
No, when, no, no, why no.
Speaker 7 (29:35):
The Lions, with the twenty to six victory over the Falcons,
packers eeries is seventeen point halftime deficit and beat the
Saints eighteen to seventeen. But the Saints did lose Derek
Carr early in the third quarter after being sacked with
a shoulder injury. The Dolphins played with their food and
when I say food, I mean the Broncos. The final
score was seventy to twenty, so the Dolphins are still undefeated.
(29:57):
Most points in an NFL game since nineteen sixty six
to a Togo by loa three hundred and.
Speaker 8 (30:01):
Nine yards and four touchdowns in the air.
Speaker 7 (30:04):
Raheem Moster thirteen carries, eighty two yards and three touchdowns
to go along with seven receptions one hundred and fifty
seven yards and a touchdown. And I have him in
two fantasy leagues, and Orian has him in our other
fantasy league.
Speaker 8 (30:17):
So win win for US.
Speaker 7 (30:18):
Chargers had a scare, but they beat the Vikings twenty
eight to twenty four.
Speaker 8 (30:22):
So the Vikings start the season.
Speaker 1 (30:23):
Zero and three.
Speaker 8 (30:25):
And you're right. Mike Williams was seen going to the
bus in a car on a cart with a brace.
Speaker 1 (30:29):
On his left knee.
Speaker 8 (30:30):
He's gonna have an MRI tomorrow.
Speaker 7 (30:33):
Keenan Allen even had eighteen receptions in two hundred and
fifteen yards and thought that wasn't enough, so he had
a forty nine yard touchdown pass to Mike Williams in
the game. The Patriots held down to beat the Jets
fifteen to ten. Zach Wilson eighteen of thirty six one
hundred and fifty seven yards. The Bills crushed the Commanders
thirty seven to three. Sam Howell is going to need
(30:53):
an ice bath fellas he was sacked nine times through
for one hundred and seventy yards nine times, four interceptions.
The Texans defeat of the Jaguars thirty seven to seventeen.
I'm gonna put Trevor Lawrence on a milk carton because
I don't know where he's at.
Speaker 8 (31:07):
He has lost.
Speaker 7 (31:08):
The Colts beat the Ravens twenty two to nineteen in overtime.
Speaker 2 (31:12):
Back to you guys, Thank you very much. Monci. I
am going to say this about Derrick Henry and depending
on where the Titan season goes. I think that there.
I don't think we expect a lot from Tennessee. I
know I didn't. I didn't this year. When the trade
deadline gets near, I think that Derrick Henry could be available,
(31:35):
and if you put him on a contending team or
a team that needs a running back, I think that
would be It'll be very interesting to see what we
could get from Derrick Henry. I don't think he's fallen
off the cliff. I just don't think that the Titans
are very good and all you need from him is
eight or nine games, just something to watch as the
season progresses. Final year of his contract could be something
(31:57):
out there. Again. Talk about the value of a running back.
That's all fine and dandy. However, we are talking about
Derrick Henry, and I know Jonathan Taylor trade block all
that stuff. I think that Derrick Henry could be moved,
probably for not as much as you think either.
Speaker 1 (32:15):
I actually hope so.
Speaker 5 (32:17):
I mean, I mean, if we're being honest, it feels
like he's being wasted there. It is time for that
team to move on from everything that they are doing,
you know what I mean, Like it's time for them.
Speaker 1 (32:29):
To quit it's over. It's over. Like let it go,
it's over. The ship has sailed.
Speaker 2 (32:37):
I mean, yeah, listen, the cults are two and one
right now, and we're not talking. We're just grand scheme
of things. The division could be wide open, but really,
like when you look at Tennessee and where they are, Yeah,
maybe you know this. You could win a game here
and win a game there, but it seemed to be
(32:59):
overmatched in today's game against the Brons for whatever reason.
I just think if things go a certain way, maybe
that's where Tennessee would like would like to look. I
don't think that Derrick Henry snaps, even in the first
couple of games, were limited. When he was on the field,
he was getting the football. But you know, I don't
want to call him a one dimensional back. But just
(33:19):
for the sake of this argument, I'll say he's pretty
one dimensional. But there could be a team out there
that could use a player like that.
Speaker 3 (33:25):
Well he can.
Speaker 5 (33:25):
He's not a Christian McCaffrey, kept it out of the
back bit field run routes kind of guy, but he
is a guy that can get you significant you know,
like that that can get you yards on screens and
that sort of thing like short passes. But he's not
(33:46):
like a you know, yeah fish.
Speaker 2 (33:47):
That's why I didn't want to call him one dimensional,
because he's not like He's not like Tony Pollard, you know,
out of the backfield, or Austin Eckler or any of
those guys by any means. But if he needed him
to catch a screen, he could and then take it
seventy eight yard cards and sprint down the sidelines to
the house. The story is not yet completed about Derek Henry.
All right, thanks Monzi. He's George Reister. I'm Dan Byeri.
(34:09):

Speaker 9 (34:38):
It's me three time pro bowler Levararrington, and I couldn't
be more excited to announce a podcast called Up on Game?
Speaker 1 (34:45):
What is up on Game?
Speaker 9 (34:46):
You ass along with my fellow pro bowler TJ. Huschman
Zada and Super Bowl champion Yep, that's right, Plexico Burris,
you can only name a show with that type of
talent on it. Up on Game We're going to be

Listen to Up on Game with me Lebar Arrington, TJ.
(35:08):
Houschman Zada, and Plexico Burgs on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts,
or wherever you get your podcast from.
Speaker 2 (35:18):
Fox Football Sunday. I'm Dan Byer. He's the NFL VET
George Reister. Cowboys got the football back, couldn't do anything
with it, So another Cardinals are going to try to
muster something. With fifteen seconds left, they're about their own
thirty five yard line, up eight on the Cowboys, eighteen
to ten. Arizona Leeds Dallas Panthers up by the Seahawks
(35:39):
thirteen to twelve at the half. If you noticed the
Seahawks looking a little different today, George, did you notice that.
Speaker 1 (35:45):
Oh, are you telling me the jerseys?
Speaker 2 (35:47):
Yes, yeah, the you're cute the jerseys. They are honoring
the Super Bowl forty eight winning team ten years ago,
ten seasons ago, ten years ago they won Super Bowl
forty eight over the Denver Broncos. They are honoring the
team today. So they wore the uniform they wore in
that game. But what it also did, George, they became
the last team in the NFL to wear white at home.
(36:11):
They were the only team to never have worn a
white jersey for a home game that ended today. So
now a lot of teams will do that because of
the heat early on in the season, they'll wear white
at home. It's cooler for them. But the Seahawks had
never worn their white jerseys at home until today. And
(36:32):
if they lose this game, they'll probably never do it again.
But that's what's happening in Seattle. And then the Chiefs
Isaiah Pacheco in Kansas City's up thirty one to nothing
on the Bears. Again. Why pick the Bears? I have
no idea you can. By the way, you couldn't have
picked a worse week to have leading into an NFL
game than what the Bears had, and for some reason,
I thought, why they're only playing Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs, who,
(36:55):
by the way, haven't looked great in the first two weeks,
So why wouldn't this be a get right game? What
a stupid pick. Let's get to some fantasy numbers.
Speaker 3 (37:03):
Go go, go, go fantasy hits.
Speaker 2 (37:07):
And the miss All right, George, this is the opportunity
where Ryan Berschinger is going to give us some fantasy info.
George always listens for his players.
Speaker 10 (37:14):
What do you got, bursch Well, when a team scores
seventy points, they're going to have some fantasy hits from
that side. But actually, the top scoring quarterback of the
day is Justin Herbert forty of forty seven four hundred
and five yards, three touchdowns through the air, also had
eleven rushing yards, and yes, Tua came in second at
quarterback with a twenty three of twenty six for three
(37:35):
hundred nine yards and four touchdowns. That's because a lot
of the work in that game was done by running backs.
The top two fantasy scorers on the week played the
same position for the same team. That's Devon ah Chain.
Today was his coming out party. Eighteen rushes, two hundred
three yards and two touchdowns on the ground, four catches
on four targets for thirty yards and two touchdowns through
(37:56):
the air, and thankfully Raheem Mostert still got in the
action despite Devon ah Chin running all over the Broncos,
where he mostered thirteen rushes eighty two yards and three
touchdowns on the ground, seven catches on seven targets for
sixty yards and a touchdown. Keenan Allen is your top
scoring wide receiver of the day, eighteen catches on twenty
(38:17):
targets two hundred and fifteen yards and he had a
forty nine yard touchdown pass. And Tyreek Hill is your
second wide receiver on the day nine catches on eleven targets,
one hundred and fifty seven yards and a touchdown. But guys,
I do wonder when you see that the team scored
seventy points. As great of a stat line as that
is for Tyreek Hill, it's almost slightly disappointing, right.
Speaker 2 (38:42):
Yeah, what did you have? Like two three touchdowns?
Speaker 6 (38:44):
Easily?
Speaker 2 (38:45):
How about this? You're if you played any Bronco you
thought they gave up seventy points? How many do the
Broncos have? You'd have to be in some sort of
shootout and it was pretty pretty pedestrian on that side
as well. You're absolutely right, Yeah.
Speaker 10 (38:59):
A couple misses Derrick Henry, as you guys were mentioning
last segment, eleven rushes for twenty yards for Derrick Henry
and Mark Andrews just three catches for I believe thirty
or four catches for thirty five yards to the air.
And those are some fantasy hits and misses from the
early games.
Speaker 2 (39:13):
I'll tell you there was something happened that happened in
that Colts game, and I don't think we have enough
time to explain, but it was actually a blessing in
disguise and it was it really worked out for Indianapolis
as they end up getting the victory. And it looks
like the Chiefs have gotten into the end zone again.
Patrick Mahomes a touchdown pass de Marquez Valdez scantling. There's
(39:35):
some laundry on the field though. I'll have to see
who the flag is against. If the play stands, it
would be a thirty seven to nothing lead for Kansas
City if the penalty is against the.
Speaker 1 (39:48):
Four more poys than the Dolphins.
Speaker 2 (39:50):
Ah legal formation against Kansas City. This one is coming back,
all right, Bears fans, that's your point. That's how you
turn it around.
Speaker 3 (39:58):
What do you know?
Speaker 2 (39:59):
And Joe Don Taylor was probably lined up too far
in the backfield and they finally call it in week three.
That is my guest. He's George Reister. I'm Dan Beyer.
Panthers lead the Seahawks at halftime by one and the
Cardinals just kicked the field goal. They're up eleven on
the Cowboys at the half. How do you get the
seventy in the NFL? I'll tell you next.
Speaker 3 (40:19):

the nation. Catch all of our shows at Foxsports Radio

Speaker 2 (40:30):
It's Week three of the NFL and we've got three
games in this late window, keeping you locked on what's
happening in Kansas City where Patrick Mahome. Patrick Mahomes may
have suffered an ankle injury. He tweaked his ankle a
little bit. I believe it was Uni Can gotway ended
up rolling up on him.
Speaker 1 (40:51):
And too early to put him out of the game.
Speaker 2 (40:53):
Well, he stayed in the game, but he was hobbling
to the locker room with that ankle jury. So we
are going to just keep our eye on that. But again,
up thirty four to nothing, And that's.
Speaker 1 (41:05):
What I'm saying, Is it too early to pull him
out of the game.
Speaker 2 (41:08):
Oh, I'm sorry, I yeah, Yeah, I think you probably could. Yeah.
I would think at this point.
Speaker 5 (41:14):
If it were against any other team except the Bears,
I would say you can't pull them out. Up thirty
four at halftime, I would say that. I would say,
middle of a third quarter, up thirty four, you're probably safe.
But we also saw the Ravens Dolphins game last last
year where where they were up what twenty seven points
(41:38):
to start the fourth quarter and lost. No, they were
up twenty eight points to start the fourth quarter and lost.
Speaker 2 (41:45):
And now you look at what the you know, Dolphins
offense is and it maybe doesn't seem as shocking. But
the other point of it is, I don't think that
this injury is too different than what Cincinnati is dealing
with with Jill Burrow. So to answer your question, is
it too early, No, it's not to make sure that
(42:07):
Patrick Mahomes is okay or doesn't further injure that angle
or put himself in harm's way because of the injury.
I do not think that it is it is early
at all. They're too early to do that. It's weak like,
it's not it's not worth it right now in a
thirty four to nothing game. I would even say if
the if the injury was a concern enough for you,
(42:29):
I'd rather play it safe than risk anything.
Speaker 1 (42:32):
Yeah, but you don't want to catch a catch an
ale either.
Speaker 2 (42:36):
I don't know if it matters. I mean, yeah, you don't.
You don't every game you go in you want to win.
But there's with how the NFL is set up with
a new playoff format, with the regular season schedule, I
just think that teams would rather take their chance of
(42:57):
having it as many people as they can, of healthy
at the end of the year and playing right and
go on the road, then to maybe risk it because
you think that it's for the long play.
Speaker 1 (43:12):
I just yeah, but you can't. It's the NFL. This
one game.
Speaker 5 (43:16):
Catching an ale can be the difference between home field
advantage and not. And you know they always want to
go through Kansas City.
Speaker 2 (43:25):
Sure, but we've also seen times in the past where
home field wasn't going to go through Kansas City, and
then it ends up happening because the team loses like
Tennessee did a few years ago, or last year's craziness
of seeding when we didn't know what was going to
happen depending on who won and were they going to
play in Atlanta where they were going to play. It
(43:46):
ended up, as he said, going through Kansas City. But
I just I don't think it's as important as it
it was previously losing a game in the NFL. Now
the seventeen game schedule, just the adding of one game
to me, well, they already dropped the games. Maybe they've
already dropped the game. Them falling to one one in
(44:07):
two would not be good. It wouldn't be good, But
I don't think it would be sky Is falling by
any means. They listen. They this would have been their
second game against the NFC team. They haven't played any
division opponents yet, they have a win already against the
team that maybe you would have need to have a
tiebreaker over in Jacksonville. Losing to an NFC team, no
(44:30):
matter how bad the Bears are like on paper, that
would be bad. But again, now we're not even taking
in the consideration that they're losing because they're up thirty
four to nothing. But I just think that you could
play it's safe with Patrick Mahomes's injury. We are broadcasting
life from the tirech dot com studios. Did I tell
you guys that already? And I don't. I don't think
that I did, because we are broadcasting lie from the
Tirek dot com studios. Tierraq dot com will help you
(44:53):
get there an unmatched selection, fast free shipping, free road
has a protection and over ten thousand recommended in solos
tireq dot com. The way tire By should be Cowboys
and Cardinals. Still at the half, Arizona up twenty one
to ten. So quite the day for the Miami Dolphins.
George seventy. You can't even say a seventy burger because
it sounds weird, right, Like.
Speaker 1 (45:13):
You know what happened.
Speaker 5 (45:15):
So I had to leave and go to Costco for
a minute because I had some because I got some families,
well some families, some family coming over, and I want
to get some tomahawk steaks to cook, right, And then
so I lost track of the score of that game.
(45:37):
And then when I was in Costco, well, I was
coming out of Costco, but I knew the game was
decided already. They had already scored like forty points or whatever.
And I looked up and I was like, seventy points,
Dan I because you know how sometimes if you use
(45:57):
certain certain apps, like stuff will break for a second.
Speaker 1 (46:01):
And it'll be wrong.
Speaker 2 (46:02):
There'll be a football game, it'll be like it's fourteen
to one.
Speaker 1 (46:04):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (46:05):
So I closed the app out and then reopened it
because I was like, there's no way that it's seventy
to twenty, like like that, this must be wrong. So
then I checked another website just to ensure that before
I sent out a tweet that it was actually seventy.
I've never in the history of me being a professional
(46:29):
football player until now, like if somebody scores fifty points,
that feels like like they scored a billion.
Speaker 2 (46:40):
Yeah. Well, the lafety the last time anybody scored seventy
in the game was nineteen sixty six, exactly. That wasn't
even a live Yeah, since the merger, it has then
father was.
Speaker 5 (46:51):
Six years old. My father was six years old, So
it doesn't happen. People don't even score sixty in the NFL.
People barely score fifty in the NFL barely scored, like
there are probably seasons where where nobody scored.
Speaker 1 (47:09):
Fifty or maybe one team the entire season.
Speaker 5 (47:13):
Fifties don't really happen, like like if you get torched,
it's like thirty eight to or thirty seven to three,
like it like it was with the Bills.
Speaker 1 (47:25):
Like that's a thorough whooping in the NFL.
Speaker 5 (47:28):
Like this was a college score, dan, Like like you
would expect Ohio State to beat Youngstown State seventy to twenty,
or you know Oregon when they beat Portland State eighty
one to six or eighty one to seven. That's what
you get in college scores, and that feels outrageous, but
it happens every single year like that, you see multiple
(47:50):
teams score seventy points in college games.
Speaker 1 (47:53):
This was mind boggling.
Speaker 2 (47:55):
Only the nineteen to fifty one Rams have had more
yards in a game in the how long ago it was?
They racked up seven hundred and thirty five yards against
the Yankees, Yes, the Yankees.
Speaker 1 (48:09):
He checked this, Check this out.
Speaker 2 (48:11):
The Yankees. There's not even any Yankees in the NFL
that far.
Speaker 1 (48:14):
Yes, two, they gave up.
Speaker 5 (48:18):
A three hundred yard passer, one hundred and fifty yard
receiver a two hundred yard rusher.
Speaker 1 (48:27):
In the same game. It's in the same game, Like,
what is what the hell is going on?
Speaker 2 (48:34):
This is this is why? This is why it's so
difficult though, Like the we're just talking about the Chiefs
so up thirty four to nothing on the Bears again,
I have no idea why I took the Bears in
the points to have no idea, it's so so stupid
past that, there's no way the Chiefs are going to
get to seventy. You want to know why the Bears
aren't going to cooperate? The Chiefs aren't going to cooperate.
That's what was so crazy about this game is Denver
(48:55):
was cooperating all along. And it's not that Denver was
operating by allowing them to score. They were cooperating by
a allowing them to score and doing so on big plays,
you know, like yeah, and then what would happen is
Mike White hits Robbie Chosen formerly Robbie Anderson on a
(49:16):
sixty some yard touchdown. What happens on the ensuing kickoff?
The Broncos run it back for a score. So guess
who's right back out on the field. Again the Dolphins offense,
which also means the Broncos defense is back out on
the field. Like, there are things that have to happen
in a game for you to be able to have
those opportunities, and the Broncos were obliging just because George,
(49:39):
they were just good enough on offense to allow these
things to continue and so bad on defense that they
were scoring quick enough. Well like some of these, some
of these drives, because if you're up thirty four nothing
like the Chiefs are, you're gonna have like a six
minute drive. The Dolphins drives were in the second half
four to twenty nine, four forty four, and then they
(50:02):
had a short two play drive from eight yards a
buck twenty three forty nine seconds on the eight chain
sixty seven yard touchdown run. That's what ends up happening,
Like there's a recipe to get seventy in the NFL,
and it's so rare, but the recipe is you got
to get a little something from the other team. And
the Broncos oblige the Dolphins today, and I just I
(50:26):
just wonder if it does everybody just not like Sean Payton, like,
is that what's going on here? Because that sure seems
like the deal, Like everybody is relishing in these wit
ands and here Sean Payton gets seventy run up on
him by Mike McDaniel. Quite a welcome back to the
NFL moment for Sean Payton, as the Broncos are now
ohing three. But they played their role by allowing these
(50:47):
enormous plays but then also returning kicks and scoring quickly,
like they don't return that kick for a touchdown immediately,
Maybe the Broncos score and take more time off the clock,
and then the Dolphins. Like it's just it's really statistically
difficult to get the seventy points because so many things
have to go right for you.
Speaker 5 (51:07):
Not even it like literally everything has to go your way.
Everything has to go your way. This was a debaco
and and truthfully, oh oh, and to make it even worse,
to make it even worse, somebody has to watch Bears
Bears Broncos next week.
Speaker 2 (51:30):
Oh that gosh, I didn't even realize that that I'm
taking to Broncos. It may be, it may be competitive.
Speaker 1 (51:39):
And do you know who I feel bad for? No,
I feel bad for Justin Field. That's exactly what.
Speaker 5 (51:47):
Whoever that they're that that's their local game, and they
don't have Sunday ticket or whatever.
Speaker 1 (51:53):
That's the reaction that they're going to be having.
Speaker 2 (51:56):
That game is so bad. It may not even go
to some of the Chicago suburbs. That's how bad it is.
It may only be Chicago proper, but uh Naperville, Yeah, Schanberg.
They may not even get that Bear's game. It's going
to be so bad.
Speaker 5 (52:09):
I mean, and I feel bad for Justin Fields at
this point, Like the Bears leadership has been so poor.
Speaker 1 (52:17):
I don't know how you.
Speaker 5 (52:20):
Like, I don't think he can work there because the
team don't work. I mean, this is exactly what Caleb
Williams and his dad are trying to avoid. And granted
Chicago has a new general manager, but they don't have
a new head coach. And this this just ain't working.
(52:42):
He needs to He needs a like a fresh set
of downs. He needs a fresh like a starting overpoint,
because his career is going to be I mean, like people,
all right, who are you more?
Speaker 1 (52:58):
Hold on down?
Speaker 2 (53:00):
Just to set because Ryan Poles and Matt Eberflus came
in not this past offseason, but the year before, yes, correct,
so they're both together so well true, you know, yes, correct, yeah,
So I'm sorry, go.
Speaker 5 (53:13):
Ahead, No, you are right about that. So, but the
way that all of this has been handled, who do
you feel worse about?
Speaker 9 (53:21):
Like?
Speaker 5 (53:22):
Who do you think the public feels worse about or
is down more on? Zach Wilson or Justin Fields.
Speaker 2 (53:31):
Gosh, Justin Fields didn't help himself this week. And I'm
a big Justin Fields fan. I you know, enjoyed him
in college immensely, But I don't think that he helped
himself with the comments. And it's just I think it's
a bad situation. I think more people are down on
Justin Fields, but I also agree. But I also think
(53:53):
that people are done with Zach Wilson. I don't think
that there's any hope for him, Like I still think
that there's something.
Speaker 5 (53:58):
Actually, I actually think that there is hope for Zach Wilson.
I do I think that the organization has failed him massively.
I could see him pulling pulling a Geno Smith.
Speaker 2 (54:13):
Well, if they're gonna, if they're gonna, another team would
have to have to benefit from that, and we won't
know that answer four or five years until four or
five years down the line, because it would need a lot.
But I think that that people have moved on, and
whoever he goes, if he does revitalize his career, that's fine.
(54:34):
But there's there's just I mean even today, I know
it's against New England and it's not the greatest of matchups,
but still it's where he had this nightmares game last year.
Cowboys just kicked a field goal. It's twenty one thirteen
early in the third quarter. In that one, Seahawks kicked
a field goal. It's all they've done today. They lead
the Panthers fifteen to thirteen in the third quarter, and
that Chiefs Bears game again thirty four to nothing in
(54:55):
favor of Kansas City. All Chiefs today in very little
justin feet fields as they're just two minutes ten to
the second half. He's George Reister. I'm Dan Byer. Get
George at George Reister. You can find me at Dan
Byer on Fox. All right, Well, we'll continue this conversation,
like is there anything left for justin fields? Could there
be changes in Chicago and could there be changes elsewhere
in the National Football League? After some of the action today,
(55:17):
we'll ask an NFL inside our next year on Fox
Sports Red Zone Radio, Fox Sports Red Zone Radio. I'm
Dan Byer, He's George Reister, and I'm staring at it,
cheering Taylor Swift because Travis Kelcey just caught a touchdown pass.
Speaker 5 (55:34):
Woo.
Speaker 1 (55:34):
I'm cheering too, baby man.
Speaker 2 (55:38):
And she said, let's bleep and go. So there's there's
that Travis Kelsey in the end zone. We got a
close one in Kansas City. It's forty to nothing. Chiefs
on top of.
Speaker 5 (55:49):
The patrols out the damn games.
Speaker 2 (55:54):
Again? Why did I pick the Bears in? The points
were Live forth TIREC dot Com Studios. I'm idiot. Manzi
Blanios will be with us in about ten minutes or so.
She's gonna have some news on Derek Carr, who was
injured in that game today for the Saints against the
Packers that saw Green Bay come back from a seventeen
point deficit and win. But our FSR insider covering the NFL,
(56:15):
Adam Kaplan, joins us inzaid the Birds podcast Pro Football
Network as well. Adam, I want you to listen to
Sean Payton after his team lost by fifty today, seventy
to twenty, and then give me your thoughts on how
the heck this happened. This was Sean Payton after the
loss of the Dolphins.
Speaker 11 (56:31):
Those next two days, We'll have a lot to look
at and discuss. Again, it's disappointing. I mean, I'm gonta
loss for works because I've never been in I've been
on the other side of some games like that and
then every once in a while on this leg you
get your butt whipped.
Speaker 4 (56:48):
But this was more than that.
Speaker 2 (56:50):
Yeah, it was something. If Sean Payton can describe it,
I don't know. Maybe it's too much to ask you,
Adam Capelan, but how does this happen in the NFL?
Speaker 6 (56:58):
Well, God's gonna be with you.
Speaker 12 (56:59):
Yes, they have that tough loss at home last week
versus the Commanders, and maybe they were at a gass,
you're in hot weather, whatever the case may be. George
played in obviously hot weather in Jacksonville, so he knows.
But the bottom line is they were not ready to
play mentally physically. It was embarrassing. The run fits on
defense were terrible. No offense at Devon A. Shane their
(57:20):
third round rookie running back. He was incredible today, but
the holes were so gigantic and guys were diving, not
rapping on defense, and you expect better from a vanchos
of coach defense. I mean, it's just just off offensively,
they weren't much better.
Speaker 1 (57:34):
Now.
Speaker 12 (57:34):
The other question obviously, is Miami this good? No, but
they're not fifty points better. But they're one of what
only two undefeated teams right now from that conference, So
it's it's pretty remarkable what they've been able to do
here yet actually right now it's only I'm sorry, it's
only Miami's the only undefeated team left in the AFC.
Speaker 5 (57:54):
So what is I mean, is there going to be
And I know that fans always want to call for
people everyone they.
Speaker 6 (58:00):
Want everybody fire. That's every town, they want everybody fired.
It doesn't work.
Speaker 5 (58:04):
So but but but what will kind of the fallout
be from this? And then when we're looking at you know,
what's what what's going on in other places as well?
Speaker 12 (58:13):
So basically, let's go let's let's stay with this. Okay,
So this is the way it works. If you go
back with Sean Payton. Remember Steve Spagnolo, who's the excellent
defensive coordinator for the Chiefs. It did Spags he struggled
with the Saints. It was really bad all that the
one season was with the Saints and he wasn't brought
back after the season, So vance Joseph, it's just crazy.
(58:34):
He was once that Broncos head coach. It is really
wild that he came back to be the defensive coordinator.
Speaker 1 (58:39):
But he is.
Speaker 12 (58:40):
He's there, He's still there, and it's just a matter
of okay, at some point down the road. Here now
they're own three, we know that obviously they're not going
to make the playoffs. At oh and three, it's less
than five percent that you can make the playoffs in
NFL history, So obviously they're not gonna make the playoffs.
We can go and say that it's just can they
can they solve these problems?
Speaker 1 (58:59):
Now?
Speaker 12 (58:59):
It's one thing, and George, you know this as a player.
If the offense was excellent and the defense was this
bad every week, this is when the player, the offensive
players will go to the coaches and say, what's going
on here, You've got to do something.
Speaker 6 (59:12):
This just happens.
Speaker 12 (59:14):
I've talked to players before they do this, but right now,
it's only three games. But this thing was an abomination today.
And you hate to say a team quit, but mentally
they were not there. I mean, it was obvious.
Speaker 1 (59:26):
So what sorry, damn, why did they keep Russell Wilson.
Speaker 5 (59:31):
In the game.
Speaker 12 (59:33):
You know, it's funny, George, I had the same thought,
and Peyton will never admit this, and it's just this
is the way coaches are. Some people have said on
social media that he tried to humiliate their off of
their players just so they could suffer through it. I
can't get into the guy's head. Only the coaches know.
There's really no reason to risk injury there.
Speaker 6 (59:51):
That was absurd.
Speaker 12 (59:53):
I mean obviously, now with the chief situation, I heard
you guys talk before it came on. They're up so big.
There's really no reason for Patrick Mahome still be in
the game. I get it still midway through the third quarter,
but they're up forty one nothing and by the way,
he got hit on the back of his neck on
the first half, so I'm hobbling around. He absolutely should
not be in the game. Andy reached, you no better
to keep him in the game. They have the game.
(01:00:13):
Why risk it? What are you trying to prove? But
to me, I think I think Sean Payton to send
a message that that would be my response, all right, obvious.
Speaker 6 (01:00:21):
Why else we yeah?
Speaker 1 (01:00:22):
Clear, stupid?
Speaker 6 (01:00:22):
Why else we do it? Yeah?
Speaker 2 (01:00:23):
Jorge, go ahead if you got more, if you want.
Speaker 5 (01:00:25):
I was gonna say about the Mahomes thing. They were
up thirty four zero at halftime and we talked about it. Now,
now we saw the Dolphins Ravens game last year where
they were able to come back twenty eight points in
the fourth quarter. Like, where's kind of the general rule
that you've heard from coaches about when to take them
(01:00:45):
out when the game feels like that it's safe.
Speaker 6 (01:00:49):
Four touchdowns are more to start the fourth quarter. It's funny.
I've asked that question.
Speaker 12 (01:00:53):
I can't tell you how many times, and they always
say four touchdowns. Well, they're up by forty one, but
there are still seven minutes left in the third court.
Obviously you're if you're the Chiefs, you don't let Mahomes
drop back. You just hand the football off, get the
fourth quarter and get blame Gabbard in there.
Speaker 6 (01:01:12):
That's what you do.
Speaker 2 (01:01:14):
Adam Capell and our Fox Sports Radio NFL ins that
are joining us here on Fox Sports Radio. He's George Reis,
Rob Dan Beyer. The Vikings are a different sort of
zero to three competitive in all their games, but again
no wins in any of their games. What needs to
happen in Minnesota to turn things around?
Speaker 12 (01:01:32):
Well, I told people that they would not make the playoffs.
I didn't think the team was really that good. They
completely changed their defense. It's couldn't be more different from
last year. On our ed Dontel Brian Flurs is running
his version of the Patriots defense, and offensively, it's just
kind of like they're not as good. They can't really
run the ball very well. Dalvil Cook obviously no longer
there's with it Jets, so they're taking.
Speaker 6 (01:01:53):
A step back. That's exactly what's expected.
Speaker 12 (01:01:54):
I thought they'd be seven or eight wins, and at
best they're probably gonna be seven and they're not going
to make the playoffs.
Speaker 6 (01:01:59):
It's been kind of what we thought it would be.
Speaker 3 (01:02:01):
Now.
Speaker 5 (01:02:02):
The Bears situation the number one what have you heard
about Alan Williams and their defensive coordinator who resigned, And
what we're seeing on the field is like pitiful feels
like a nice word.
Speaker 12 (01:02:19):
Well, let's get to justin fields. The Alan Williams situation
is off the field, and he will know he's he's done.
I mean, he's it's just a matter of what their
investigation pulls up here with with the Bears there so
matt Mattie Briffles was running the defense anyway, so he'll
just continue to do it. It's it's been awful. Now
the Justin Fields, I'm writing about him tomorrow for Profobale Network.
I've actually been working on this this week. It was
(01:02:40):
actually before his faux pas thrown his coaches under the bus,
which he obviously you know they got in his ear
or he knew he screwed up. But the bottom line
is he's he needs so much work. He's not a
comfortable quarterback. He struggled all season. They're an awful football team.
They're at the NFL's worse and by the way, the
(01:03:02):
Texans are so much more competitive than them, and by
the way, the Bears have better talent at several positions.
They're just unachieving. They should be better. I'm not saying
they should be a playoff team. But they spent a
lot of money and draft capital on offense. It has
not come to fruition. But it starts with the quarterback
who's been off of this season. And the other thing
is they had not designed very many runs for him
(01:03:23):
for whatever reason compared for the last season. There's a
really bad football team. Poorly coached. Quarterback's been awful. They're
not going to bench him. He needs to play. They
need to get evaluation on him. I know he didn't
draft him. I get that part of it, and that's
the reality of it. But they're an awful football team
and they deserve.
Speaker 6 (01:03:38):
To be what they are.
Speaker 2 (01:03:39):
Seahawks into the end zone Kenneth Walker the third short
touchdown run. So it's twenty one to thirteen PA coming
up three point fifty two left in the third. In
that one, Cowboys just failed to convert a fourth bowns
or Arizona continues to lead by eight. You mentioned the Texans,
and you know, and this is Adam Listen. I took
the Bears today, so again and this is just this
(01:04:00):
is awful. I am not trying to pat myself on
the back, Aucie. I really felt like the Texans are
going to be a team you do not want to
play in the second half of the season. Good call
and not like them at all the seasons. Competitive, but
there is something there. Like CJ. Stroud told them, Hey,
Tank Dell and I hit it off during workouts, draft them.
You saw what happens today. What are they doing and
(01:04:23):
what in Houston and what allowed them to get this
one over Jacksonville.
Speaker 12 (01:04:26):
You know what it's interesting, Dan is they cannot run
the ball to save their life because they have five
offensive line changes due to injury. They're all injury related,
every single one of them. And they're hanging in there.
They're doing the best job that they can. They're trying
to run the football that they can, but their defense
and by the way, their defense is beat up in
the back end. They play with a lot of heart.
They're overachieving to a certain degree because they have so
(01:04:46):
many guys out. They didn't have a great roster to
begin with. But Will Anderson's getting the job done. One
of the first round picks. Stroud's not turning the ball
over very much effect he had his first pick today.
He's doing a nice job, very efficient, and their line
gave him. I just couldnt believe it Jacksonville. The time
he had to throw that that probably to me would
be the big surprises today. I did not see that.
(01:05:06):
And I got to give the Texans credit. They were
terrific today and they they made Trevor Lawrence uncomfortable today.
That was very, very surprising to me.
Speaker 5 (01:05:16):
I want to talk about a man who had me
ready to throw things when the show started, and that's
Brandon Stately. Now I've chronicled his you know, terrible record
in one score games, the commitment to going for it
on fourth down and then abandoning that and then doing
ridiculous stuff like with a mini fifty one secus today
(01:05:38):
on his own twenty four, Like is he hanging on
by a thread?
Speaker 12 (01:05:42):
Well, look, this ownership does not like paying coaches not
to coach, So no matter what happens, I would expect
that he would finish the season.
Speaker 9 (01:05:50):
No.
Speaker 12 (01:05:50):
Obviously, they won today, so they staved off what is
realistically elimination at zero to three. So that was George,
you and I are that was one of the most
ridiculous calls.
Speaker 6 (01:05:59):
You can't do that.
Speaker 12 (01:06:01):
That just that to me was inexplicable. And look, Mike
Williams has potentially serious knee injury.
Speaker 6 (01:06:06):
We'll have to see.
Speaker 12 (01:06:09):
Their defense has been awful this season. It's hard to
believe how bad their defenses. And you know, they see
Brandon Stale, He's gotten everything he's asked for, and that
that's the disappointing thing about it. JC Jetson got benched.
He was making sixteen and a half million a season.
That's the bad sign. They're hanging in there because they
could score, but their defense obviously has been very disappointing.
Speaker 2 (01:06:27):
Adam Kapl on our Fox Sports Radio NFL insid are
joining us here. He's George reister'd Dan Bayer Relive from
the tireq dot com studios hit Adam up at Kaplan
NFL Last one for me, Adam. Jets fall to the
Patriots today. Zach Wilson did not look good. Jay Glazer
reported on the NFL and Fox pregame show that Matt
Ryan and Carson Wentz reached out to the Jets and
(01:06:50):
the Jets are like, thanks, but no thanks. But does
something need to be done with the Jets at the
quarterback position? Do you think that they will after the
loss today?
Speaker 12 (01:07:00):
I get to tell you my reporting for Pro Football Network,
I put out a week and a half ago that
they're not going to go towards Joe Flacco, who.
Speaker 6 (01:07:06):
Did a good job last year.
Speaker 12 (01:07:07):
In fact, he almost single handley won the game at
Cleveland where they came back and scored a lot of points.
Speaker 6 (01:07:11):
But they want to go Tim Boyle to the backup.
He knows the system.
Speaker 12 (01:07:16):
Now they have to they have to add another quarterbacks.
They're going to do that at some point in the
next two weeks. But they really don't want to put
any pressure on Zach Wilson. That's why, I as I
understand it. I've been told privately that's kind of what
their thought process is. And it's a mistake to me.
But what's the difference here? Your season's on the line here.
I mean, you got to continue to keep pace.
Speaker 6 (01:07:37):
But but it was awful. Look, I get it was.
Speaker 12 (01:07:40):
It was tough to concutitions. You know out east here, folks,
the rain has been terrible. It's really hard to throw
the football. But you know, overall, they continue to back
Zach Wells. Effect Salad Robert Salad, the head coach of
the Jets, did say after the game today that Zack
Wilson gives them the best chance to win.
Speaker 6 (01:07:56):
Yeah, of him, Tim.
Speaker 2 (01:07:57):
Boiler, though, you know, like like there, how much does
their offensive line problems the.
Speaker 6 (01:08:02):
Right left tackle will change today? I mean I knew
that was coming.
Speaker 12 (01:08:04):
I mean, they didn't have a choice because Joan Brown
is on injury reserve with a hip injury.
Speaker 6 (01:08:08):
But no, it's an absolute nightmare. But yeah, but here's
the thing.
Speaker 12 (01:08:11):
He stares down pass targets, doesn't like, doesn't let go
through the of the football. Guys are getting open. He's
got to get rid of it. That's the problem. So
it's a shame their defense is hanging in there. You
can't keep asking the defense to carry the load here.
Speaker 2 (01:08:24):
All right, you got them, Caplin, you got anything left
for him? George, you don't let him go. The guy
enjoy the rest of his clock. There's a they're just
being called a clock. So we got we got all
the time of the world.
Speaker 6 (01:08:36):
I got some bad football today, but some some cool
football as well.
Speaker 2 (01:08:38):
Yeah, and and at least you didn't take the Bears
with the points.
Speaker 3 (01:08:41):
You know what.
Speaker 12 (01:08:42):
But by the way, what was your wait? You took
them to the winter, you took the no, no, not okay,
you did take that. You did to take them in
the money line. But why did you think it's just
a big oh, yeah, I got you, Yeah, I got you.
Speaker 2 (01:08:55):
That's still stupid. It's still like even you know, the
other games, but still still dumb to do appreciate about him,
sayes Man. But my Texans prediction could come Yeah, could
come out. Adam Kaplaner, Fox Sports Radio on it for
linz Eder, read him on the Pro Football Network, Inside
the Birds podcast, and right here on FSR. Hit him
up at Kaplin NFL. He's George Reister and Dan Beyer
(01:09:16):
alive from the tireq dot com studios. So is Manzi Blaaniel.
She's giving us the latest of what's happening in a
week three. Got a couple of good games, and then
we have whatever that is in Kansas City.
Speaker 8 (01:09:25):
I mean, to some it's a good game. I think
to Taylor Swift, it's a good game.
Speaker 1 (01:09:29):
That's all that matters.
Speaker 8 (01:09:31):
Is Taylor Swift going to be impressed?
Speaker 1 (01:09:33):
I'm glad, Hey, I'm Kelsey out here winning.
Speaker 2 (01:09:36):
Yes, I'm glad that he scored because this is a
crappy game to bring her to.
Speaker 7 (01:09:41):
Yeah, I know, especially like typically you would imagine that
Kelsey has more than one touchdown typically on a score like.
Speaker 5 (01:09:49):
This, Oh maybe you know it is crazy though, and
then imagine this, So do you know who the biggest
winner in.
Speaker 1 (01:09:56):
This whole situation is Taylor Swift? No, no, this is
Mama Kelsey.
Speaker 5 (01:10:03):
She got to All Pro Sons a documentary made about it,
like like they they love on her, they dote on her.
And then if she gets Taylor Swift to be her
her daughter in law to bro Bro, that is the trifecta.
Speaker 1 (01:10:16):
Ye, Like, how does it get better?
Speaker 2 (01:10:18):
I'll tell you who the biggest loser in this is.
And I don't mean loser by loser, but but loser. Yes,
Brittany Mahomes. How mad that you are no longer you know,
the most popular significant other in the uh in the
chief's luxury boxes.
Speaker 7 (01:10:34):
And then I think some people were like, oh, Taylor's
gonna be with Brittany Mahomes in a suite watching No, hey, hey.
Speaker 1 (01:10:41):
They're gonna be like, hey Brittany, no, no, no, no, no, no,
hold up, Oh do you think she's gonna she's gonna
call for more rancher or some chicken strips for the kids,
and and and and then they're gonna hold on, hold on,
we we have one order in front of yours. It's
like what you always bring our straight? And I know,
I know, I know we got to take care of
(01:11:01):
Keilson's box.
Speaker 8 (01:11:02):
Per you dismissed Dan doing a Jackson Mahomes and.
Speaker 2 (01:11:08):
Mahomes in person.
Speaker 8 (01:11:09):
It was pretty good.
Speaker 2 (01:11:10):
Meaning Taylor Swift.
Speaker 8 (01:11:12):
So who was.
Speaker 5 (01:11:15):
He puts that on TikTok. I mean, I don't follow
him on TikTok, but I hope it goes viral enough
that it comes up on my Why would you be?
Because that that would be hilarious.
Speaker 8 (01:11:26):
That's so Yeah. No, I was good Dan that that's
the funniest thing I've ever seen you do. That was
really really good and I think very special that we
got to see it in person.
Speaker 2 (01:11:33):
Yeah, there you go.
Speaker 8 (01:11:34):
Yeah, forty one zero is recording. It might still be
recording on the camera.
Speaker 6 (01:11:39):
Here might be.
Speaker 7 (01:11:40):
The Seahawks are holding on to their lead over the
Panthers twenty two thirteen. Panthers have the ball. They're approaching
the red zone two minutes to go in the third quarter.
The Cowboys went for it on fourth and three, fourth
and four, they were at Arizona's four yard line.
Speaker 8 (01:11:54):
They were not able to convert. Arizona gets the ball back.
They still have the ball and they are up twenty
one thirteen. They're about to start the fourth quarter.
Speaker 7 (01:12:03):
A little ap top twenty five because it looks a
little different this week, guys, Colorado fell out of the
top twenty five after getting whooped by Oregon, Georgia, Michigan,
and Texas are still the top three. Ohio State moved
up to four, Florida State dropped to five, Penn State
moved up to six, Washington moved up to seven, Usc
(01:12:23):
fell to eight, Oregon and Utah round out the top ten.
Speaker 2 (01:12:29):
So that's the lake, all right, Listen. I don't think
Florida State should have dropped. I know, like how it
happens because everybody votes and you put everything together. Yes,
but I'm sorry. A win at Clemson is a very
very good win, a very very good win. But it'll
all even out in the wash.
Speaker 5 (01:12:46):
Dude, no Dan, Dan see see That is coming from
a person who who knows college were one of the
biggest brands in college football. A like like, no, no, no, sorry,
not one of the biggest brands, the biggest brand in
college football, like a team who gets the benefit of
the doubt and gets into college football playoff when they
(01:13:09):
shouldn't have just because they beat Wisconsin fifty five to
zero or whatever it was. But the fact that Washington
is not in the top four right now is laughable.
That Michigan is ranked number two right now is even
more laughable. They've played East Carolina UNLV, Bowling Green, and
(01:13:30):
Rutgers and scored only thirty five points once.
Speaker 1 (01:13:34):
Yes, they've started, but it's laughable.
Speaker 5 (01:13:37):
Dan and I am frustrated with the sixty two AP voters,
who are smart college football people, but this bias against
the West Coast is just too much when the PAC
twelve is by far the best conference in the country
right now, they.
Speaker 2 (01:13:53):
Are very good, they are very strong. It'll provide us
some great entertainment over these final weeks. Unfortunately it's the
Swan song. Thank you very much. Hit her up at
Monzy Milanios. Thanks Monzy for all that great info. He
is George Reister. I'm Dan Byer. It is Fox Sports
Red Zone Radio. Nothing happened score wise since Monty Monzy
gave him to you, so we can keep those three
(01:14:14):
scores as it is. We'll have a look at your
fantasy numbers. Plus, something interesting happened today when it comes
to quarterbacking in the National Football League. I'll ask George
his opinion next here on Fox Sports Radio, Fox Football Sunday.
He's George Reister. I'm Dan Byer. Justin FIELDZ just throw
it into the ninetieth row I think at Arrowhead Stadium
(01:14:36):
and throwing it away second in goal, those Bears down
forty one to nothing, Panthers into the end zone twenty
two to twenty. Seahawks still lead Carolina. Interesting twenty two
to nineteen. Carolina scores on a Miles Sanders run, kicks
the extra point to take it off of three. But
if the Seahawks score here, then you're back to a
two possession game. I thought maybe they would go for
(01:14:59):
two in that scenario. Wasn't quite sure, but that's what
the Panthers did. And the Cowboys are driving second in
goal from the eight yard line. Now going to be
a third in goal as they stop Seedee Lamb on
an end around quick George in about sixty seconds, because
then we've got to get a look at some fantasy numbers.
I thought the starting of Andy Dalton today in place
of the injured Bryce Young and obviously Anthony Richinson's out
(01:15:22):
with his concussion. Gardner Minshew helps the Colts to a
victory in overtime victory against Baltimore today. They won the
battle today. Those I don't know if they win those games.
I don't know if Carolina is going to win this one,
but I think they have a better chance with Andy Dalton,
and I think that Gardner Minshew gave the Colts a
better chance than Anthony Richardson did against the Ravens. Do
(01:15:43):
you agree with that premise, I thought in mind you.
Speaker 1 (01:15:47):
I'm a Bryce Young fan.
Speaker 2 (01:15:48):
Yeah, it's nothing personal against those guys, but I also
am a.
Speaker 5 (01:15:53):
Big fan of quarterbacks sitting for a while. I'm more
of a fan of that. I think that you should
error on the side of caution in those situations more
often than not. And in that I believe that Andy
Dalton that I would have handled this the same way
(01:16:14):
with the Panthers, the same way that the Colts. I'm
the same way that the Chiefs did with Alex Smith.
Speaker 1 (01:16:22):
I am going to.
Speaker 5 (01:16:23):
Start Andy Dalton un till damn near the end of
the season, or at least until because in Bright Young's
first two games it looked like it was moving a
little fast on them, but that's normal. It was a rookie,
I mean, and we have to stop trying to judge
(01:16:46):
these kids' careers, these young men's careers based off of
first season. Because now I know somebody who was on
the Dolphins, Like who was in the Dolphins building right.
Speaker 3 (01:17:00):
In?
Speaker 5 (01:17:00):
Tua was a rookie and remember I think it was
Fitzpatrick starting at the at the time. And then they
put Tua in after the uh They wanted to get
through the quote unquote a hard part of the schedule.
And then they put Tua in and and I asked
that person in that building is to a ready one word? No,
(01:17:21):
no explanation, no nothing. I got an explanation later, but
they said, no, he's not ready. But the team still
trotted him out there because they felt pressure because of
what Justin Herbert and Burrow were doing. And people forget
that Herbert was not that the Chargers weren't starting Herbert intentionally.
(01:17:41):
It wasn't until Tyrod Taylor got stabbed in the lung
that Herbert had to start.
Speaker 1 (01:17:49):
So and that changed the.
Speaker 5 (01:17:53):
Narrative that we thought about Tua because Tua had he
like after his first year, Dan, what were the comments
about to it.
Speaker 2 (01:18:02):
Well, I'll tell you what. We can we get a
quick fantasy number. Yeah, yeah, because we burs is here,
We've got about sixty seconds. We've got our fantasy at
the fifties. That's what we do. And we'll talk about
this coming up in about ten minutes. Let's hit some
fantasy numbers.
Speaker 3 (01:18:17):
With Prime A, Fantasy heads.
Speaker 2 (01:18:20):
And the missing. All right, burst, the clock is ticking.
Speaker 10 (01:18:22):
That's all right, We're gonna update you on these live
games right now. Patrick Mahomes, of course, your top scoring
quarterback of the Late Games twenty four to thirty three,
with two hundred and seventy two yards and three touchdowns passing,
also had three rushes for twenty eight yards. That number
is going to stop there because Blaine Gabbert is now
in justin fields. Looked a little shaken up at the
end of that last drive there, so there is, in
fact the possibility that Blaine Gabbert ends up outscoring Justin
(01:18:45):
fields today in fantasy justin fields is a big miss.
Six of sixteen for forty two yards passing in an interception,
ten rushes for forty six yards on the ground to
save his numbers. Blaine Gabbert, however, did throw an interception
promptly when he came in, so he's a he's got
got some more to do to pass fields there. Kenneth Walker,
your top scoring running back of the Late Games here,
fourteen of seventy four for a touchdown on the ground.
(01:19:06):
Also two catches on two targets for fifty four yards
through the air. Looking at wide receiver's number, your top
scoring receiver from the late games here is DJ Shark.
Three catches on seven targets, eighty two yards and a touchdown,
And basically, yeah, all your misses are from the Bears.
Quite frankly, DJ Moore just got his first catch on
that last drive there, Khalil Herbert, a whole lot of nothing,
(01:19:28):
and those are your fantasy hits.
Speaker 2 (01:19:29):
So we just get on DJ less if we could,
thank you very much. Ryan Bursching ear joke on, Hey,
you knew that it was coming. He's George Reister in Buyer.
We'll continue. I do want to dive into this because
I think there's a lot happening. There's a lot happening
in Seattle. Kenneth Walker a touchdown run as he just
heard now his second of the game. Seahawks extend their lead.
He's George Reister. I'm Dan Byer. Fox Sports Red Zone

We are on upset alert in the Desert Cowboys up
against the Ropes. You just heard Monty tell you. Down
twelve to the Arizona Cardinals. The Panthers trying to come
back against the Seahawks, and it's all but over in
Kansas City. We are broadcasting live from the tirek dot
com studios. Tyreq dot com will help you get there.

the way tire buying should be. I was critical of
the Cardinals when they let Colt McCoy go and brought
in Josh Dobbs late in the preseason. It seemed to
work wonders for a team that had very little expectations,
(01:20:53):
if any, on the season as Dobbs and the Cardinals,
as I mentioned, George are up twelve. But I want
to continue our quarterbacking conversation because Andy Dalton as the Packers,
excuse me, the Panthers in Seahawks territory. They're down nine
in this game. But the veteran quarterback getting a start
he had said even in the preseason he felt you
as one of the thirty two best quarterbacks in the
(01:21:14):
National Football League. He just wasn't going to be starting
because he was behind Bryce Young at that time. But
the conversation we had started on the Colts upset of
the Ravens today with Gardner Minshew as their quarterback and
now Andy Dalton keeping the Panthers in this game against
the Seahawks, where these veterans coming in, I just didn't
think in the premise, if you're just joining us here
(01:21:35):
on Fox Sports Radio, was at this point in just
three weeks into the regular season. I don't think Anthony
Richardson goes to Baltimore and beats the Ravens, and I
don't think Bryce Young goes to Seattle and beats the Seahawks.
And we know the Colts won in overtime. Today, still
left to be seen what happens in Seattle, George. But
then we got on the conversation of you choose to
(01:21:56):
rest quarterbacks more and talked a little bit about the
Alex Smith situation with Patrick Mahomes and also to a
situation in Miami, and I know you were bringing up
that situation also remember the NFL had to change their
schedule into his rookie year because of COVID stuff. So
like the Dolphins by if you remember, was switched, and
(01:22:17):
that was one of the reasons why the Dolphins all
of a sudden made the change at quarterback because their
by ended up being changed because of the rescheduling of games.
But you the information, if I'm paraphrasing correctly, that I'll
let you take it from here, George, was that to
a kind of being pushed into service a little bit
sooner than maybe he was ready for may have had
(01:22:37):
a little bit of a little bit of a damaging
effect at least early on into his career.
Speaker 5 (01:22:44):
Yes, yeah, I think it was clear that there was
that there was some sort of issue right in the
beginning of his career, and it was because he was
not ready. And after after his rookie year, what was
the sentiment about Tua.
Speaker 2 (01:23:05):
Well, that he wasn't going to be the guy, that
that he couldn't take the Dolphins to the next level.
Speaker 5 (01:23:11):
Yeah, and that and that, oh man, he was the
one bust in that draft, right because you had hurts,
you had you know, Tua, Burrow and Herbert and all
three of three of those had it are clearly balling.
I mean, granted Hurts was on the bench at the time,
but there but nobody was down on them and Tua
(01:23:35):
people were down on him. Oh he doesn't have it,
He's not this, he's not that. Oh but turns out
too is damn good. Two is damn good. And it's
just funny. I just find it funny that it was
because he got a chance. Well, had he had a
chance to sit.
Speaker 1 (01:23:54):
And learn behind Ryan.
Speaker 5 (01:23:55):
Fitzpatrick just a little bit longer that season, oh we
we wouldn't have had the same issues and concerns about
him going forward because last year he looked phenomenal in
the games that he played. Then there was questions about
his durability. This year he looks phenomenal. The only question is,
(01:24:17):
which is a legitimate one. Can he stay healthy? If
he stays healthy this season, Dan, who is in a
better position this year, like, out of those three quarterbacks?
Speaker 1 (01:24:31):
He because because because I won't put.
Speaker 5 (01:24:32):
Hurts in it because he wasn't the first rounder, But
who's in a better position to win a super Bowl.
Speaker 1 (01:24:41):
This year next year than too?
Speaker 2 (01:24:46):
Uh of of those Gosh, I don't think of any
of them, So.
Speaker 5 (01:24:53):
Yeah, after the way the first three years went and
the narratives about all of them, isn't it crazy?
Speaker 1 (01:24:59):
How and nobody thinks any.
Speaker 5 (01:25:01):
Of those dudes is bad or questionable, But they're situations
that Tua may actually be the first one to get
a Super.
Speaker 2 (01:25:08):
Bowl Sure, well, yeah, get a Super Bowl title. Maybe.
I still believe that the Bengals have that window this season.
I'm not counting Cincinnati out, but I do think that
Cincinnati is going to have to make some decisions. I
we don't think. I don't know. I have no idea
what's going to happen with him playing tomorrow night? Are
(01:25:29):
not playing? Probably not, but not gonna guess. But I
still think that they're gonna be okay. But how much
is it? George? Because to me, the difference was never
to a sitting for the first seven weeks to a
sitting for the first ten weeks. It was Mike McDaniel's
the Dolphins head coach. And now with Mike McDaniel there
(01:25:52):
there's I mean, you know you're bringing Tyreek Hill as well.
Like that's so when we talk about quarterbacks and you
say that you don't think that Zach Wilson is a
lost cause you don't like his situation with the Jets.
If that's the case, I think that's the case like
with Tua. Like in Tua scenario, Tua got into an
(01:26:14):
ideal spot and not all quarterbacks would be able to
succeed like Tua did with Miami. But it's just like
when you know, like when guys get drafted in the NBA,
there's some teams you want to go to and some
teams you don't want. And you mentioned earlier earlier with
the Bears. Now you know why Caleb Williams and it's
you know, and his family may be saying, hey, we
may not want to go in certain spots, because I
(01:26:37):
think that is true. And I think that's the biggest
plus for Tua is that he got the coaching staff
and the coach that he needed to succeed, more so
than you know, like resting or anything. But in just
this little mini game window here, you know, for the Colts,
it's better for Anthony Richardson when he's healthy to play
in the long term one hundred percent. But I just
(01:26:58):
don't think Anthony richards goes to Baltimore today and wins.
And it's not that Gardner Minshew was lights out. It
was that Zack Boss had a really good game, and
I felt like Gardner Minshew gave you at least a
throwing threat, someone that could put pressure on the defense.
And they were tough conditions today, wet, rainy, but they
(01:27:22):
were able to figure it out and the Seahawks right
now have a lead on the Panthers. Panthers got it
to midfield but then ended up having to punt the ball.
Maybe the same the same outcome would be if Bryce
Young was quarterbacking. But I just think in this specific
spot here, they have a better They had a better chance.
Those teams had a better chance to win today with
their backup quarterbacks.
Speaker 5 (01:27:43):
Yeah, I think that they've that they've had a better
chance to win all season with their with their backup
quarter quarterbacks. I think that you know that you do
want to get your young guys in there early. But Okay,
in the case of Houston, it's clear that that guy's
ready right now, you know what I mean, Like, it's
clear that c. J. Stroud is ready. If you know
(01:28:06):
for sure he's ready, put him in. If you don't
think he's ready or you're not sure, put like that's
why you have Andy Dalton in the building.
Speaker 2 (01:28:17):
Mm hmm. Yeah, I also think you have, yeah, you
have Andy Dalton in the building to help that person along,
right exactly, yep, to be that to be that voice.
And that's what you feel that Zack Wilson has not
gotten with the Jets.
Speaker 5 (01:28:30):
Correct and truthfully right, if we're being honest about Zach Wilson,
if you put in the Patriots games, then of course,
like the games against the Patriots and Cowboys, he's been
spectacularly bad, right, spectacularly bad. But when you look at
the rest of his career, it ain't really been as
(01:28:53):
bad as you think that it as bad as it has.
So without the games against the cat with the Cowboys
and the he's five and he's nine and ten as
a starter, but the majority of that was on a
bad football team. He's nine and eleven now but with
a with ten comeback wins off the bench, plus nineteen
(01:29:15):
combined touchdowns with only thirteen turnovers.
Speaker 1 (01:29:19):
Now he's oh and five now oh and six.
Speaker 5 (01:29:23):
Against the Patriots and the Cowboys combined. So like, if
you take away those, it ain't as bad as it
really looks. And being that he was on a bad team,
the majority of the time and oh my god, it
is gonna happen.
Speaker 2 (01:29:39):
Dad, Well, yeah, I was. Dak Prescott was just picked
off in the end zone. Dallas had a third in goal.
They're down twenty eighth to sixteen. That was that year,
OMG was because of that interception.
Speaker 1 (01:29:51):
Yes, that's I think that's the game that you meant
to take the money line on.
Speaker 2 (01:29:57):
Hey, I picked Arizona as well with the points, one
of those big spreads. That's where I went with the
underdogs today. The Cowboys had a third and goal down twelve,
Zach Zach, Dak Prescott just intercepted by Arizona, So the
Cardinals will take over first and ten through it in
the end zone. Never saw them and an easy interception
(01:30:19):
for the Cardinals, so they will take over twelve point lead.
Three minutes left to go in the game. They're six
minutes left in Seattle. Seahawks are going to punt it
back to Carolina. It's twenty nine to twenty Seattle, so
the Panthers are going to have to do some work.
Bears DJ Moore a touchdown reception too little, too late
for Chicago. They trail Kansas City forty one to ten,
(01:30:40):
with four to twenty left to go in that one,
Justin fields to DJ Moore from nine yards out. I
want to mention something as well that happened today with
that Colts Ravens game, because I don't think that the
Colts realized it at the time, but it ended up
being a blessed in disguise. You know, in last night's
(01:31:02):
Notre Dame Ohio State game, we focus a lot on
what happened on the third and goal with three seconds left,
and then we point to Notre Dame having ten guys
on the field and having the play before. That's going
to be the lasting image of that game, right, George, yep, Okay,
but you watched the game. I watched the game. We
know that Notre Dame had the football with four minutes
(01:31:23):
to go and took a sack on first down, then
ran a screen on second down on you know, in
one of their drives and could have worked the clock
a bunch more than they did after getting a first
down earlier with about four minutes left, they had an
opportunity to work the clock. They didn't take advantage of it,
punted it back and then Ohio State got the football,
made some plays, a bunch of plays down the stretch
(01:31:45):
and the Buckeyes win. The reason I bring this up
is because there was a pathway for Ohio State to
get back in the game, and there was a pathway
today for the Colts. They were facing a third down
and ten from their own one yard line, all right,
and this is late in the contest, Baltimore's winning seventeen
to sixteen. Gardner Minshew drops back to pass and ends
(01:32:09):
up stepping out of the end zone for a safety
and George it ended up being the best thing that
could have happened to the Indianapolis Colts. You want to
know why. Why because they got twenty yards of field position,
but still still gave themselves a chance to win the
ballgame because the safety only allowed Baltimore to go up
(01:32:32):
three points. So a field goal still gets them the tie,
but it gives them a little bit more life. They
don't on side kick. On the free kick, they kick
it away. Zay Flowers does make a mistake and ends
up Fair. I think it was Jay Flowers. It was
excuse me, Devin Duverney. Fair caught it. So what happened
on this play was it was on the other side
(01:32:54):
of the two minute warning, So now Baltimore has to
run a play at two h three left. Colts end
up getting the stops using their timeouts. Baltimore forced to
punt it back, and then the Colts drive and kick
a field goal. The point is is, if Gardner Minshew
doesn't take the safety, they're likely punting from their own
end zone. Baltimore's running out the clock, they're in plus territory.
(01:33:19):
But the safety actually gained them twenty yards, allowed them
to put the Ravens back and then get the football back.
It was a weird way. He didn't plan it. It
wasn't planned that way. I actually thought Bill Belichick maybe
would have taken a safety in that scenario and realizing hey,
at the clock and time and everything. But because of
a fair catch allowed them to get the ball on
(01:33:40):
the other side of the two minute warning, Ravens weren't
able to capitalize and get a first down. It allowed
the Colts to stay alive where they then kicked a
fifty three yard field goal at the end of regulation
and then have the game winning field goal to win it.
So there was a path he just didn't see it.
But Gardner Minshew taking safety today against the Ravens may
have been a plus of the disguise for the Colts.
(01:34:02):
I just wanted to point it out because it's one
of those things that I don't think gets going to
be talked about much on Monday, but it ended up
allowing that path to victory that you have to find.
Sometimes you can't see it, you can't see where it is.
You're just adding up simple numbers. But it worked out
for the Colts. Thank you for my ted talk. But
it's one of those things where you know, I could
(01:34:24):
see Bill Belichick doing that taking a safety. All right,
we're down three. Maybe I thought maybe they would try
the on side in fact, because then you could from
the twenty yard line and that may be your only
way of getting the football back. But it ended up
benefiting the Indianapolis Colts today and they get a big win.
They're two to one now on this young season, and
the Ravens fall to two and one with that loss.
(01:34:47):
All right, so two thirty eight left to go in
the fourth quarter, Cardinal's trying to run out the clock.
Dallas is now out of timeouts. Arizona is up twelve
twenty eight to sixteen two minute warning. In Kansas City,
Chiefs up on the Bears forty one to ten, and
the Seahawks lead Carolina twenty nine to twenty four, point
fifty two left to go. Carolina does have the football,
(01:35:08):
but again down two scores in this one. He's George Reister.
I'm Dan Byer. Our MVP is coming up a little
bit later. Do you know what the law thirds is
in the NFL? George, I'm gonna tell you next here
on Fox Sports Radio. It's Fox Sports Red Zone Radio.
I'm Dan Byer. He's George Reister. Six year NFL vets
(01:35:31):
and the Dallas Cowboys are no longer unbeaten. The Arizona
Cardinals take down the Cowboys twenty eight to sixteen. It's
a final. Jonathan Gannon gets his first victory as the
Cardinals head coach. While in Seattle, the Seahawks have added
to their lead against the Panthers. Jake Bobo got a
touchdown pass from five yards out from Gino Smith. Tyler
(01:35:54):
Lockett gets the two point conversion. It's the Seahawks thirty seven.
The Panthers, that game, nearing its conclusion in CFL.
Speaker 10 (01:36:04):
Be.
Speaker 1 (01:36:05):
Ashamed of themselves.
Speaker 5 (01:36:07):
I mean, but but the funny part is is that
this is the NFL, and that that's what's different about
college and the NFL is that you don't get these
opportunities very often where you know, where like the Cowboys,
who've been by far the best team in the league
so far this year.
Speaker 1 (01:36:28):
Like like when does.
Speaker 5 (01:36:32):
You know who's the best best team in college football
this year? Okay, So like let's say the Washington Huskies.
Speaker 1 (01:36:38):
They don't.
Speaker 5 (01:36:38):
They don't, Like they're not gonna lose a game to
Montana this year, you know, I mean, And that's who
Arizona is this year, is like Montana.
Speaker 1 (01:36:49):
And it just doesn't happen.
Speaker 5 (01:36:52):
And so for the Cowboys to lose this game after
losing Trayvon Diggs this week to an aco injury, I
don't know what to make of them because they had
so many opportunities, Like this wasn't just like the the
Arizona carters just blued him out of the door. They
were in the red zone multiple times, had opportunities and
(01:37:15):
just failed to score. Dak is going to get cooked tomorrow,
absolutely cooked because they didn't score in the red zone,
I think, And Mike McCarthy.
Speaker 2 (01:37:24):
I think there's a couple of things that play here,
and again, not to rip on your guy, Zach Wilson.
But when you look at the Giants and how their
season started out, and I know they didn't have Saquon
Barkley or Andrew Thomas Thursday against the Niners, but maybe
the Giants aren't as good as we thought, or at
(01:37:46):
least that opening night when they got completely, completely, completely
out of it. And now you have Zach Wilson making
his first start. This isn't a shock to see, honestly,
to see the Cowboys lose this game. And I brought
up the law of thirds, but it's not one third.
(01:38:07):
I look at it this way. You know, the theory
in Major League Baseball, George, is that every team in
Major League Baseball, it's gonna win sixty games, they're gonna
lose sixty games. What do you do with the other forty?
That's basically basically the rule in Major League Baseball. It's
how do you do in the other forty? And that's
(01:38:28):
kind of what determines what your season is. Now. The
Royals in a's different scenarios, but hey, they've won fifty
four games this year. The premise is pretty much there.
In the NFL, I think you got to look at
these teams, and I think Week three is a good
part in three game windows. Okay, And the reason I
(01:38:49):
say that because there were a couple of teams that
I looked at coming into this week. One's the Atlanta Falcons.
Are the Atlanta Falcons really good enough to start the
season three and oh, I don't. I don't think that
they were?
Speaker 1 (01:39:04):
No, No, no, they are.
Speaker 5 (01:39:07):
They are a team that I mean, like, like last year,
I was getting ripped even though it turned out I
was right when the Giants were like six and one,
and I said they were the worst six and one
team in the NFL history.
Speaker 1 (01:39:20):
Like it's that's kind of.
Speaker 5 (01:39:22):
The way it would have been had the Atlanta Falcons
started out three and oh, you'd be like, all right,
come on, bro, like like let's let's not let this,
let's not get to any contender talk or any or
anything like that.
Speaker 2 (01:39:36):
It's a good, good story, good wins to start the years.
Speaker 1 (01:39:39):
Congratulations.
Speaker 2 (01:39:40):
Yes, absolutely. I just didn't think there was any chance
that they would go to Detroit and win that game
because it would mean that they were going three and oh.
And I think if you look around the NFL and
you look at okay, forty nine ers, they're three they're
a three and oh team, like they're built they can
go three and oh. Yes, but not every team can.
(01:40:01):
And I think when you look at Arizona and and
and I think it's even the case with the Cowboys,
Like do we believe in the hype, like were the
Cowboys really good enough to start the year three and oh?
Speaker 5 (01:40:11):
Are they just against that against that crowd, against the Giants,
Jets and then at Arizona.
Speaker 2 (01:40:19):
Yes, you think, yes, but that's not what we're asking here,
Like that's and that's kind of the premise of it,
Like it's not about the other teams.
Speaker 5 (01:40:29):
It's kind of is it's about who they are, Like yeah, yes,
And I do believe that that the Cowboys could have
three and oh stretches during the season. I mean, I
mean that's like saying, so, did you think that the
Dolphins could start out three and oh? I think against
the Chargers, the Patriots and the and the Broncos, I.
Speaker 2 (01:40:51):
Think that they are a capable team of of doing that.
Speaker 1 (01:40:55):
That's the same way I feel about the Cowboys.
Speaker 2 (01:40:57):
Yes, but that's my point of of the reason they
lost today is because maybe they aren't as good as
the three and zero that we thought that they were
maybe maybe maybe maybe there is something off of them
that just it shows up in one of those three games.
And if you look at these like three game windows,
that will tell a lot. It's there's not much difference
(01:41:21):
between two and one and one and two. In the NFL,
it's very very very very slim. But these there are
certain things that pop up and over a stretch, George,
you may have a team that goes one and two,
two and one and two and one, and there they
are at five and four, okay. And then you may
have a team that goes one and two, one and
(01:41:43):
two and two and one, and there they are at
you know, four and five. But over those little game stretches,
you're like, Okay, this team is in it, but you
know what, they're not really in it, even though they're
a game back. Yeah, that's that's what I'm like. I
mean by it where it's yeah, their record says they're
four and five, and yeah they're a game back of
the five and four, but they're not that team, just
(01:42:06):
like the kind of the grocery store, you're not that guy,
pal like, there are just certain teams that don't have it.
The forty nine ers have it, they're three and oh.
I think the Dolphins have it. The Cowboys, I thought
could have it, but they don't. And it's the same
thing with the Cardinals. The Cardinals may have stretches where
they go zero and three in those games, but you
know what, at some point they're not gonna go winless.
And we saw it last week against the Giants and
(01:42:27):
how they competed. The Saints another perfect example. I know
they lost Derek Carr today doesn't seem to be a
serious injury, but could miss some time with that shoulder injury.
Where the Saints without Alvin Kamara and trying to break
in Derek Carr, were they really a three and zero
team where they were for two and a half games,
but then you lost your quarterback and then everything ended
up falling apart. And that's another part of it where
(01:42:49):
it's just like, Okay, that's maybe, then that's who they are.
I don't know how good Green Bay is, but they're
about one and two, two and one good, and that's
where they are. And that's where I think. You look
at the NFL and I just compare it to the
baseball thing of with so much parody around the NFL
that there isn't as the standing show that there isn't
as much difference. But sometimes certain teams will surprise you,
(01:43:13):
like the Arizona Cardinals and like they did today against
the Cowboys, where we thought Cowboys for sure, but maybe
the Cowboys are just two and one in the you know,
Arizona Cardinals are one and two. But if you take
these three game windows, I think it kind of tells
you a lot about who you are, not necessarily just
who you played. I just I didn't think the Falcons
were and I think that the Falcons can win games.
(01:43:35):
I think they can win that division. I just don't
know they're I.
Speaker 5 (01:43:39):
Don't think they have enough offensive firepower because they want
to play in a in a phone booth, which is inexplicable.
Speaker 2 (01:43:47):
Well there's we will find out. I'll tell you what.
Detroit had an opportunity. I didn't think Detroit wasn't one
and two team, and I think that they showed it
today because now they're two and one. All right. That
was my is my thirds theory in the National Football League,
and I think you need take a lot of teams
you'll end up realizing, all right, maybe there's four categories
(01:44:08):
of teams. Here and who's good and who's not. There'll
be there'll be a battle tomorrow at the Buccaneers and Eagles,
And I think if you really look at who's three
and oh, who's really the three and oh team, I
think you're gonna get a sense of who's probably gonna
win that football game tomorrow. He's George Reister. I'm Dan
Beyer live from the Tirech dot Com studios for the
final time on this Sunday. Let's go to the news
(01:44:30):
desk Montgolonios giving us the latest is there's still some
time left in Seattle, but that's it. Then for the
late games in week three, MANSI, there is still.
Speaker 8 (01:44:38):
Some time, but we can wrap it up. I think
the Seahawks are gonna win this one. It's thirty seven
to twenty against the Panthers.
Speaker 7 (01:44:44):
But the Panthers do have the ball and they are approaching,
you know, they're getting close to the red zone. But
this is the only game on still to comm Steelers
and Raiders. Now, lots of games have wrapped up. The
big one that I'm surprised about Cardinals beating the Cowboys.
You guys just talked about at the Cardinals not looked
terrible the first three weeks twenty eight to sixteen. Was
the final score Dak Prescott twenty five of forty two
(01:45:06):
hundred and forty nine yards, one touchdown, one bad interception.
Have you guys noticed that Ken Griffy Junior has taken
up photography?
Speaker 8 (01:45:15):
Yes, right, So he was at the Inner Miami game.
Speaker 7 (01:45:18):
When Lionel Messi I think made his debut and he
was on the sideline taking pictures.
Speaker 8 (01:45:22):
He was at the Arizona Cowboys.
Speaker 7 (01:45:24):
Game, probably not thinking he was gonna be taking pictures
of the Cardinals more than the Cowboys, but that's where
he was that taking pictures from the sideline. The other
games that have finished today are in this late window.
The Chiefs with the forty one to ten victory over
the Bears, who are now oh and three. Travis Kelce,
you know Taylor Swift in they're watching him seven receptions,
sixty nine yards, one touchdown.
Speaker 8 (01:45:46):
The Colts they beat the Ravens twenty nine to nineteen.
Speaker 7 (01:45:48):
In ot Matt Gay the first kicker in NFL history
to make four field goals field goals of fifty yards
or longer, the first one.
Speaker 2 (01:45:57):
To do it including the condition stunk.
Speaker 8 (01:46:00):
Yes, yeah, it was raining out. No one back Gay
over four. Good for him. I mean Justin Tucker missed
a sixty yarder, yeah, which killed me.
Speaker 2 (01:46:09):
It looked good, perfect.
Speaker 8 (01:46:11):
Down the middle, and it was just short. It was
just short.
Speaker 7 (01:46:15):
The Texans defeated the Jaguars thirty seven to seventeen. The
Bills crushed the Commanders thirty seven to seven. Sam Howe
was sacked nine times. I think he's gonna have an
ice bath. The Patriots held on to beat the Jets
fifteen to ten, Zach Wilson eighteen to thirty six for
just one hundred and fifty seven yards. The Chargers had
a scare, but they won twenty eight to twenty four
against the Vikings, who are now zero to three to
(01:46:36):
start the season.
Speaker 8 (01:46:38):
The Dolphins just played with the Broncos. Seventy to twenty
was the final score.
Speaker 7 (01:46:43):
The Packers erases seventeen point halftime deficit beat the Saints
eighteen to seventeen. Derek Carr did leave in the third
quarter with a shoulder injury. They think he just suffered
in a sea sprain, so it's not supposed to be
a season ending injury. His return, though, is going to
depend on his swelling and his mobility the Lions with
twenty to six victory over the Falcons. Tightand Sam Laporta,
(01:47:05):
who I have in two of my fantasy leagues. He
is the first tight end in NFL history to start
his career with five plus receptions in his first three games.
Speaker 8 (01:47:13):
The first tight end not too shabby.
Speaker 7 (01:47:15):
The Browns beat the Titans twenty seven to three, Deshaun
Watson two hundred and eighty nine yards and two touchdowns.
Speaker 8 (01:47:21):
In the air.
Speaker 7 (01:47:22):
If you haven't heard Usher, Usher is going to headline
the Apple Music halftime show that's right in Vegas.
Speaker 8 (01:47:29):
That'll be fun. I'm into it. Oh my god.
Speaker 2 (01:47:33):
I just want it to be just as.
Speaker 1 (01:47:34):
Long as he don't sing stupid Dadies.
Speaker 2 (01:47:38):
I love that song.
Speaker 8 (01:47:39):
I did too.
Speaker 7 (01:47:40):
I hope it's kind of like an Era's tour and
we start with like you remind me of a girl?
Speaker 8 (01:47:45):
Yeah, yeah, you know, I was saying, taking a nice
and slow and then we.
Speaker 2 (01:47:48):
Go what no, I know, but don't you want to go?
You make me want to leave the one you're with.
Speaker 1 (01:47:55):
S That's what That's what she's saying. Yeah, that you
go from the beginn from the beginning too.
Speaker 8 (01:48:01):
Yeah, that's what I'm hoping for a little MLB news
for you guys.
Speaker 7 (01:48:05):
The Angels transferred Mike Trout to the sixty day I
l y sixty days I don't know officially INWS twenty
twenty three season. In the a L West race the Royals,
they swept the Astros. In Houston, the Rangers beat the Mariners.
So Texas has a two and a half game lead
over the Astros for the top spot in the AL West.
Houston's lead over Seattle for the last walk card spot
(01:48:27):
is just half a game, very close, very tight, very exciting.
Speaker 2 (01:48:32):
There's going to be a Black Eyed Peas appearance, isn't there,
or like a will I am sort of wither Yeah, yeah, yeah,
wait what song isn't didn't he do that? Isn't ye?
Oh my god, yeah yeah.
Speaker 8 (01:48:46):
I forgot about that. I was thinking of just yeah,
with a little.
Speaker 2 (01:48:50):
Yes, yes, that will sure.
Speaker 8 (01:48:54):
That has to be.
Speaker 2 (01:48:56):
Sure, That's what I was thinking.
Speaker 8 (01:49:00):
It can't just be him, it can't just be him. No,
he's got to have somebody else.
Speaker 2 (01:49:05):
Yeah yeah Beiber. Brandon said, yeah, oh yeah, Beiber.
Speaker 8 (01:49:10):
Yeah, yeah, it'll be I'm excited. I'm excited, all right, guys,
back to you.
Speaker 2 (01:49:15):
This is how you also know that NFL insiders get information.
Adam Schefter sent this really weird sweet out about within
an hour prior to the announcement of the halftime show,
saying like, now's usually the time of year when they
announced the super Bowl halftime show. Last year was on
this date when they announced Rihanna, So you knew that
(01:49:38):
he had the information, but he wanted to stick it
to Rapaport and Pallisero when all the other insiders. Adam Schefter, oh,
because he wanted everybody to know that he knew but
wasn't saying. And then the NFL Apple made the official announcement,
(01:49:58):
but he sent it was just the weird tweet was
you're you're ready to hear about who's playing today, who's
going to be inactive, and you see this Adam Schefter
tweet pop up and then you're like, why is he
talking about the super Bowl halftime show? And it was
because he knew what he couldn't tell because Apple and
the NFL needed to make the announcement.
Speaker 8 (01:50:17):
That's a flex, that's a subtle.
Speaker 2 (01:50:19):
Flairy, but it's the But these insiders are so petty
with each other, you know, is that George one guy
doesn't have a story, someone will like quote retweet it
and be like that's what I've been hearing for days
because they're so mad that the other one like got
it a minute before they did.
Speaker 1 (01:50:36):
Yep.
Speaker 5 (01:50:37):
Yeah, but that's but that's a big flex to be like, hey, yo,
I'm pretty hey there could be a Super Bowl announcement
today because this is the exact day they did it
last year.
Speaker 1 (01:50:50):
And then it then it comes and it's like, oh yeah,
I'm not I'm that man.
Speaker 2 (01:50:54):
Just so everybody, just for the record, were you singing
My Way? Was that what you were? What else your song?
Were you singing?
Speaker 8 (01:51:00):
No, you remind me of a girl that I once new.
That's what I was thinking of.
Speaker 7 (01:51:06):
Okay, and then there's nice and Slow Yes, yes, which
is I think from the album My Way.
Speaker 2 (01:51:13):
But my Way was the third song as I was
just looking it up because that's I but the You
Make Me Wanna is the first single, so that's why
I was saying that that was the first. That was
the one that I thought put Usher on the map.
Speaker 8 (01:51:26):
Yeah, you Make Me Wanna?
Speaker 2 (01:51:27):
Yeah, yes, yes, A big fan of Usher, So congrats
to Usher for sure. All Right, talking about Usher is
a lot better than talking about the Chiefs Bears game
and the Seahawks taking it. Pete Carroll by the way
one and seventy fourth career win, tying a former Seahawks
coach for fifteenth all time and wins Mike Holmgren with
(01:51:47):
that win. So Andy Reid also, I think had a
career setting victory. We'll tell you how many wins and
what legend Andy Reid passed. He's George Reister. I'm Dan Byer.
It is Fox Sports Zone Radio, and it's going to
be a final from Seattle Seahawks win at thirty seven
to twenty seven their Sunday night football Tonight Raiders Steelers
(01:52:09):
from Las Vegas will get Georgia's thoughts on that plus
our MVPs. It's all next here on Fox Sports Red
Zone Radio. Fox Sports Red Zone Radio. He's George Reister.
I'm Dan Beyer.
Speaker 11 (01:52:22):
There.
Speaker 2 (01:52:23):
It is your Apple Music. Actually it's like the Apple
Music halftime show headliner usher Super Bowl fifty eight in
Las Vegas coming up in February. Announced today. I don't
think we're gonna find anybody else joining them. I hope
they do the secret, you know, they just bring the we.
Speaker 5 (01:52:41):
Don't need nobody else. Bro, you know, Usher has his
own show in Vegas. We don't need anybody else.
Speaker 2 (01:52:49):
I like the pop of bringing somebody out that you
don't expect.
Speaker 11 (01:52:53):
I like that.
Speaker 2 (01:52:55):
And as Monty said, like, how can you not have
you know, little on there saying yeah on the other
side of the stage right.
Speaker 5 (01:53:03):
No, No, I'm saying like some like some features, but
I don't want one of them split half timey weird
old things now.
Speaker 2 (01:53:11):
So you didn't like the one in LA when everybody
like doctor dre snooth eminem Sea. That's different. I mean,
I am so so we can't sit here next. All right,
all right, we'll get to our MVPs in a sec.
But it's Raiders and Steelers tonight from Las Vegas, the
home of Super Bowl fifty eight. Steelers get a crazy
win against the Browns on Monday Night in the game
(01:53:33):
that was marred by Nick Chubb's injury. I think it
covered up just how bad the Steelers were offensively. Do
you think they get it on track tonight against the Raiders.
Speaker 5 (01:53:43):
Absolutely? Absolutely, and even more so this Pittsburgh defense. They
might they might score enough points to win the game anyway. No,
so it'll be just fine.
Speaker 2 (01:53:55):
I think the Raiders pull this one out tonight. Yeah,
I don't know why. I what a love it like
the Bears early, What idiot would do that? All right,
it's time now for our Progressive Insurance MVPs for week three. Cock.
Speaker 3 (01:54:13):

So the Chiefs one today against the Bears. In that game,
(01:58:13):
George Andy Reid has climbed to fourth all time in
most victories by an NFL head coach. That's regular season
and combined, passing Tom Landry. Today, Andy Reid two hundred
and seventy one career victories both in the regular season
and in the playoffs from his time in Philadelphia and
(01:58:34):
obviously now with the Kansas City Chiefs. Only three coaches
have more than Reid. Don Shulah with the record of
three forty seven, Bill Belichick three twenty nine, and George
Hallis at three twenty four. So you want to talk
about some company and some rare air. And it's crazy
to think that just five years ago we're looking at
Andy Reid as man, is he ever gonna win a
(01:58:56):
Super Bowl? And you know, geez, they got there, could
never get it done. And now up there with the
legends and two Super Bowl rings to back it up.
Speaker 5 (01:59:05):
Yeah, he's one of the all time great coaches. And
when you look at it, his offense has traveled from
Philadelphia to Kansas City quarterbacks have looked good. I mean, granted,
you do have to have special quarterbacks in McNabb and Mahomes,
but he's done a really good job, dude, and he's
been to super Bowls in both places. Now he's got
(01:59:26):
a couple of super Bowl victories and it's special. I'm
happy for him, you know, and his players like him.
Good job, Andy Reed.
Speaker 2 (01:59:36):
And you're gonna hear people say, yeah, well he had
Patrick Mahomes and Donovan McNabb. Well, if those players went elsewhere,
they would not be the players that they are. And
I think that they would tell you the same thing. Sorry,
Patrick Mahomes would not be the same. He may be
great in all but he may not be this great.
And that's thanks to Andy Reid. He's George Reister. I'm
Dan Byer. That's Week three in the NFL. We'll talk
(01:59:56):
to you in week four here on Fox Sports Radio.
