Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (00:03):
Radio Carry Roads. The NFL got it right this time.
They finally got a right. Let's have all meaningful games
here of this late window as the regular season starts
to hit the stretch run, final week of buys for
the NFL. Thank goodness, those are saying goodbye three great
games of this late window as we were broadcasting live
from the Tirack dot com studios. Tierraq dot com will

(00:25):
help you get there, an unmatched selection, fast free shipping,
free road has a protection you know, over ten thousand
recommended and solos tirec dot com the way tire buying
should be. I think at the start of the season,
when the schedule was being made back in May, they
thought Bears Niners, this is marquee, what a great matchup,
and if Bills and Rams didn't have the weight of

(00:48):
playoff possibilities, Bears Niners could have been that key matchup
this week. But who would have thunk it that maybe
in this late window, of the three games that matter
the most, it's the Rhodes Buyer Bowl three for the
third straight week, Arizona against Seattle, maybe having the most
at stake in this late window.

Speaker 3 (01:09):
In week fourteen. Yeah, that's the NFC.

Speaker 4 (01:11):
West week, and you know all teams are playing this
late window obviously, which they usually do, but to be
aired right now, at this time with the importance of
right now, I mean this especially this game against you know,
the Buyer and Rhodes Bowl, I mean Arizona and Seattle.
I mean it's for a first place in the division.
But also I mean if Arizona can get this win,

(01:33):
it brings Seattle back down to the pack, so to speak,
and it's gonna be complete chaos from here on now.

Speaker 2 (01:38):
Arizona is the home team in this one, and it's
a big deal because Seattle won just a couple of
weeks prior to two weeks ago. That's right, So if
you're Arizona and you're looking at how things play out
the rest of the season, you can't drop the season
series to Seattle and be two games back. So that's
so it is. It is right there for Arizona. But

(01:59):
unfortunately for Arizona and this game, come out with a
great drive to open it up, go down and score,
but then Kyler Murray two costly turnovers that Seattle turned
into points. And that's how the Seahawks have this seven
point lead. I don't know if Kyler Murray was pressing,
trying to do too much, because he's had a lot
of the I guess load taking off of his shoulders,

(02:19):
have had more of a running game this year. I
felt that he's played with composure, but we didn't see
that early and it's got Arizona in the stuff.

Speaker 4 (02:26):
So yeah, the last couple of weeks, Kyler has been
very inconsistent. There was a moment there during the season
where I mean he was a dark horse MVP candidate.
Now that doesn't mean he was really in the race,
but yeah, he has been mentioned in that right. But
then the last couple of weeks he's taking a step back.
He's thrown some very questionable interceptions. Talking about that Seattle
game a couple of weeks ago, the one he flipped

(02:46):
over and I forget the guy from Seattle who took
it back, but a critical, critical moment in that game
that turned the game around and put it in Seattle's favor.
And right now, to start off with two interceptions in
the first quarter to give them ten, it's just too much.

Speaker 2 (03:01):
And before Carrie, anybody jumps on you for saying that,
it is true It's not that the odds were in
Kyler Murray's favor to win the MVP. But what we're
saying is this how we usually determine the MVP is
a winning football team. Well, guess what Arizona was right
now at six and six, but on the verge of
being a winning football team just a couple of weeks ago,

(03:24):
they're riding a four game win streak, visitting there at
six and four, and then you're looking at all, right,
what about a team that has really run through their quarterback? Well,
could be Kyler Murray and then if you continue that run,
it would have been a case that would have been
built up and built up and built up. But last
week they were unable to cash in with touchdowns against

(03:44):
the Vikings. They had to settle for field goals. Came
back to bite them as Minnesota got the one point win.
Last week. We mentioned the Seahawks lost the week before,
and now the two turnovers that you have in Arizona
playing from behind in what is a split crowd. Something
that you remember bit from your playing days that when
the visitors do show up and they've got a fan

(04:05):
base like the Seahawks do, at least on the West Coast. Yeah,
you're gonna get some of those games. So it's against
it right now for Arizona in this contest.

Speaker 4 (04:13):
Yeah, Arizona. Yeah, we've talked about it before home games there.
If you're a team that travels well, it's it's gonna
be sixty forty. I won't say fifty to fifty, but
it's been sixty forty and you'll hear here that that.

Speaker 3 (04:26):
Fan base show up.

Speaker 4 (04:27):
But I mean right now, I mean the times that
I was there, we were also not a winning football team.
So I mean, you know, in twenty twelve, we had
a stretch where I told you we were four to
zero and you could see the difference in the fan
base at that moment. But then once you start to lose,
it's it can go south really quickly.

Speaker 2 (04:43):
There it just went south for the Buffalo Bills in
Los Angeles. The Rams have blocked a Bill's punt and
brought it back for a touchdown. Hunter Long was the
one to recover the blocked punt and took it the
rest of the way for the score. The Bills were
punting near midfield carry this wasn't like a deep in
their end zone. Don't have a lot of space. This
just seemed the Bills got the ball near midfield, couldn't

(05:05):
do anything with it after as they trailed by three,
and the Rams were able to break through and just
block the punt. Extra point is good and the Rams
are now up seventeen to seven early in the second quarter.

Speaker 3 (05:16):
Yeah, that game in La, Yeah.

Speaker 4 (05:17):
The Rams was I think we talked about it, but
the Rams was my pick to win the NFC West
and they had a couple of they had a rough
stretch as well down there, and now they're back at
six and six and I picked them to well. I
expected them to show up in this game and play
really well and have a chance to win, and right
now they're up seventeen seven.

Speaker 2 (05:36):
So Martin Weiss is at the anchor desk. Chris purfets
our executive producer. But Chris always leaves us after the
first hour of the show because he just can't stand
us anymore and he's like, I need to get out
of here, and then Mary mac takes over. So I'm
excluding Chris and Martin from this because I can't remember
if they were here for these statements. Ryan Berschinger, do
you remember declarative statements Sunday a few weeks back that

(05:57):
we had here our market on Fox Sports Red Zone Radio.
Do you remember what I said? Do you remember what
Carrie said? Do you remember these at all? I sure
do so. I'm just I just want to make sure
you're trying to get.

Speaker 3 (06:11):
Some backup here. I don't know what's going on, but
let's go.

Speaker 5 (06:14):
I remember some, but in terms of what topic I
might need my memory.

Speaker 3 (06:18):
Okay, that's okay, don't worry about it.

Speaker 2 (06:20):
Yeah, I said Lions Packers NFC Championship game.

Speaker 5 (06:24):
By I do remember. Actually, yes, hey, what.

Speaker 3 (06:27):
A taste of it.

Speaker 6 (06:28):
Now.

Speaker 2 (06:28):
I don't know if the seating is going to be
able to work out in a certain way, but still
I'll stand by it. This guy comes in Rams NFC
championshipre you go. He's been a Rams believer. That was
his planting of the flag. And if hey, if they
knock off Buffalo today, maybe it's the start of something
for the Rams. Do you still believe that you still

(06:49):
think that the Rams? Seeing on how the Lions have played,
seeing how the Eagles played, seeing how the Vikings continue to.

Speaker 4 (06:58):
Yes, this was a this is one of those Bowl statements.
Let's just say that Okay, I don't believe they're I
don't believe they're better than the Lions or the Eagles, right,
but with the right draw, anything can happen.

Speaker 2 (07:13):
All right, Well, the Rams have a seventeen to seven
lead right now on Buffalo in that game. And when
Kerrie walked in today and the first thing he said
to me was I took the Rams today, and I
like the Rams as well. I actually don't know how
you could like Buffalo in this scenario if anybody was,
for the simple fact of what they did a week

(07:36):
ago and the snow game, and it's fun and it's
Sunday night, and now you gotta fly cross country. You
gotta go and face a Rams team that six and
six maybe doesn't get the juices going. There'll be a
lot of Bills Mafia at so far. I'm sure there
is right now for this game. But it's also sandwich

(07:59):
between next week you've got a date with the Detroit
Lions and what can be a Super Bowl preview. That
was my Super Bowl pick YEP, classic letdown game in
a part of the schedule that you really can't let down.
Steelers won again today against Cleveland, So this squeezes on
Chiefs tonight, you know, home against the Chargers.

Speaker 3 (08:18):
There's just no let up as we're.

Speaker 2 (08:20):
Here in weeks fourteen and fifteen, and Buffalo is in
such a unique situation where they've clinched the division, so
you wouldn't want to ease up anyway. But there's still
a lot to play for seeding. And byewise, I'm not
saying that this is a trap game because the Rams
are going to trap you. The Eagles almost losing to
the Panthers today, that's quintessential trap game, especially if you

(08:40):
see what Philadelphia has coming up on their schedule. That
stuff can come up and bite you. This is just
a tough task in the AFL to play Sunday night
in the snowstorm, to deal what you've done, and then
fly cross country when you've got another huge game next week.

Speaker 3 (08:54):
That's why I think it's tough for Buffalo today.

Speaker 4 (08:55):
All those things, plus the Rams are a borderline team, right,
and so they're in a situation where they really need
this win. And so you go into a you go
into the uh, into the cipher, so to speak, into
an angry cipher, and these guys are you.

Speaker 3 (09:10):
Know, they're gonna lay it all out lay it all
out today.

Speaker 2 (09:12):
The Seahawks playing without Kenneth Walker the third, relying on
Zach Charboney in the running game. The Bears playing without
Matt Eberflus as their head coach for the first time
this season, and they trailed forty nine Ers fourteen to
nothing five and seven forty nine Ers four and eight Bears,
Thomas Brown getting his first taste as an NFL interim

(09:33):
head coach, and.

Speaker 4 (09:34):
Didebra Flus miss the team bus. What what happened?

Speaker 1 (09:38):
Man?

Speaker 3 (09:38):
Oh, I missed some news or something happened.

Speaker 5 (09:40):
I thought.

Speaker 2 (09:41):
I thought that when Matt Eberflus saw the Dolphins kicking
fifty seven yard field goals on grass, thought to, you know,
to himself, oh you can kick fifty yarders. You can
do that, But you can even do that indoors. What
all the stuff that he was realizing was happening in
the NFL. He'll go somewhere, he'll coordinate a de sense,
they'll be fine. Yeah, it still allows us to have

(10:01):
a little bit of a laugh at the expense of
the Chicago Bears. But this forty nine ers team comes
out today and you don't have Christian McCaffrey, who you
lose last week. You don't have Jordan Mason, but they're
up fourteen to nothing against the Chicago team that is
trying to find something to play for. I called San
Francisco done and over with last week. Not that the
way that the game was played, because last week. I

(10:23):
don't love the snow games. It's something we've talked about
here on the network where I just it's how you
navigated better, and Buffalo is able to navigate it better.
But still, even if San Francisco gets a win today,
I just don't think San Francisco is competing against the
teams that they should be competing against. They should be
competing against the Rams, Cardinals, and Seahawks. They should be

(10:46):
competing against the top teams in the NFC, and right
now that's not who they are.

Speaker 4 (10:52):
Yeah, no, they they're the one team actually that I mean,
they're five and seven, so it wouldn't be I mean,
it's all seven to six, so what we talked about earlier.

Speaker 2 (11:01):
But they're still in it in the race, yeah yeah,
but I don't think they're still in it for what
their goals are of course.

Speaker 4 (11:07):
Yeah, and so that to me is a lost season. Yeah, yeah,
for sure. I mean, they're playing angry today. Obviously they've
been challenged. They look bad last week, They've looked bad
that the past couple of weeks, and now it's I
mean it's two hundred and twelve yards denying right now.

Speaker 2 (11:21):
It's a complete but rough ago. Yeah, that's a tough
one for the Bears. Yeah, Bill's bounced back quickly. Ty
Johnson just took a pass from Josh Allen forty one
yards to the house. Extra point is good. So that's
how you answer, yes, a blocked punt for a score.
That's how you avoid this trap game or maybe mid

(11:41):
schedule hangover if you will. But still it's the Rams
up three seventeen to fourteen. Carrie just pointed out the
yardage discrepancy between the Niners and Bears on the scoreboard,
it's fourteen to nothing. San Francisco, though, is going to
have a decision to make. They just brought it down
there in Bears territory close to first down. Juwan Jennings

(12:01):
took a pass, and I think there is going to
be a measurement. I believe it's to me, Carrie, it
looks like it's fourth down, but ten to twenty to
go yet they have called it their half yard short.
They're not even gonna need to measure. At first, I
think that they thought that they forty nine ers got
the first down, did not, and then they realized that

(12:22):
it wasn't even close enough for a measurement. So now
it's fourth and one, about a half yard at the
Chicago twenty two and a half yard line. If you're
San Francisco, just hand the ball off and go and
get the first down.

Speaker 4 (12:35):
Oh yeah, I definitely go for it. I mean they
got to go get it. This is no time to
just take the points in this situation. I mean, the
Bears have nine points, go go put them away early.

Speaker 2 (12:45):
And San Francisco in mentioning the injuries of Christian McCaffrey
and Jordan Mason, and we say that they're down to
their third string running back in Isaac Grendo. I would
even say they're down to their fourth string running back
because Elijah Mitchell was a guy that they usually counted
on and he hasn't been available at all this season.

Speaker 3 (13:03):
He's out for the year.

Speaker 2 (13:04):
So when you're looking at the forty nine ers and
you're looking at all the different running backs that you have,
they're down the depth chart. Speaking of running backs, just
mentioned Zach Sharboney. He's into the end zone for the
Seahawks on a long touchdown run, so Seattle has opened
it up. A forty nine yard touchdown run for sharbon Ay.

(13:25):
A quick Seahawks score now has them up twenty three
to ten.

Speaker 3 (13:29):
Yep, that's not good.

Speaker 4 (13:30):
A fifty one yarder straight up the middle, A very
close play on third and ten that Geno Smith made
a really great throw on against the pressure. Think at
the first down in the play after Sharbonet takes it
fifty one yards for a touch.

Speaker 2 (13:43):
Now, all right, geez, he's carrier roads. I'm Dan Byer.
We are live from the tierrac dot com studios. A
lot to get to today, plus a dilemma that I
think very few people have ever thought of, and we
will end up breaking down this dilemma that occurred in
the NFL today in Week fourteen. Extra point is good
in Seattle. So the Seahawks are up twenty four to ten.

(14:03):
Told you the Rams still hold on to that seventeen
to fourteen lead on the Bills, and then the forty
nine ers making their fourth down decision up fourteen nothing
on the Bears. Nearing the midway point of the second quarter.
Here's Carrier Rhodes. I'm Dan Beyer. Vikings get a big,
big win in so many ways today over the Atlanta Falcons.

Speaker 3 (14:22):
We'll dive into that.

Speaker 2 (14:23):
Plus should you be concerned if you're a Philadelphia Eagles
fan after surviving today against Carolina, we discussed next year
on Fox Sports Red Zone Radio.

Speaker 7 (14:32):

Speaker 5 (14:44):
Hand off Charbonay left side head.

Speaker 8 (14:46):
The first outtle that's up beat down the thirty the
twenty fifteen ten five touchdown Shayhawks and they are still
chasing Zach Charbonay nine yards to paydirt get second touchdown
of the game.

Speaker 1 (15:04):
The Seahawks came in.

Speaker 8 (15:05):
Saying we gotta find a way to run the ball.

Speaker 1 (15:08):
Holy can't fish. They do back to Dan Byer and
Carry Rhoads.

Speaker 2 (15:13):
Put the good guys up in the the Fox Sports
Red Zone Radio Bowl, the Bayer Rhodes Bowl as it
is Seahawks leading the Cardinals twenty four to ten. On
the Seahawks Radio Network, It's one of three games of
this late window. When we last left you, the Niners
at a fourth and short, they got the first down
and then they got even more Juwan Jennings getting into
the end zone for San Francisco extra point is good.

(15:35):
Niners up twenty one to nothing on Chicago midway through
the second quarter and the Rams and Bills playing a
good one right now, five minutes left to go until halftime.
The Rams are in Buffalo territory. In fact, they're in
the red zone. Poka Nakua taking a little pass out
in the flat down to about the seventeen yard line.
Rams up seventeen to fourteen on Buffalo again that game,

(15:58):
under the five minute mark in the first half. We
are company a lot from the tai Iraq dot com studios,
And oh what could have been for the Carolina Panthers today,
Oh what could have been for so many other teams
in the NFC, the NFC East, if you want to
bring the Commanders into this. But there was a point
where it appeared Carolina took the lead on Philadelphia late

(16:21):
as Xavier Laguette, the rookie wide receiver, ended up what
appeared to have him catching a pass and getting into
the end zone. However, the ball hit the grounds the
referee will tell you, and the Panthers could not cash
in after that Philadelphia escape. So the twenty two to
sixteen victory. I thought that this was a unique game

(16:42):
where we would get to know the realness of one
of the teams. And I mean this by if Carolina's competitive,
or Carolina goes in and wins, then Carolina is making
vast improvements. Yes, if the Eagles blow them out, then
the Eagles are on some business. I give the Eagles

(17:02):
a pass today. I do not think that this is indigative.
I actually think the story is this continued turnaround with
Carolina and Bryce Young into being the NFL quarterback because
he looked anything but when he started the first two
weeks of the season.

Speaker 3 (17:16):
Thousand.

Speaker 4 (17:18):
Looking at this game, you know, I felt that Carolina
has been trending. We've talked about him in the last
couple of weeks. They've been trending upwards. Bryce Young has
been really, really good, and you can see him turning
the corner and you can see the team turning the
corner with their belief in him. So it's been cool

(17:38):
and you know, obviously, yeah, for Philly coming up in
the emotional win last week, it was going to be
tough for them to bounce back and get up for
this game. They found the way to win. But yeah,
the story, Yes, the Panthers. The Panthers look like they
found something and they can throw a few more pieces
in the mix here to get the team to be
more explosive than Watch Out.

Speaker 2 (17:56):
It's funny because I think Carolina and dysfunction at the
top was something that all right, yeah, I get it.
It's there's from ownership on down. Maybe you thought things
just weren't right. They couldn't get their head coach right.
I actually thought that the Matt Rule higher was a
fine hire at that time. I think a lot of
teams would have liked Matt Rule as a head coach.

(18:19):
Then you bring in Frank Reich and you think you're
getting a stabilizer, and that didn't work out by any means,
and so you've swung and missed. You swung on a
trade again, the whole package that you went and you
went out and got Bryce Young because you wanted that
number one overall pick. It just seemed like dysfunction, dysfunction, dysfunction.

(18:40):
But it shows you it's a really good example, and
it's a small window and next year we'll have to
tell you. But what happens when you hire the right guy,
And Dave Canalis has done wonders with quarterbacks previously and
that was the reason that he was brought in. Doesn't
mean that Carolina wasn't interested in Ben Johnson, because they were.
They were interested in him a couple of times. But

(19:01):
when right people are put in the right situation, good
things can happen. And that's what's happening in Carolina right now.

Speaker 4 (19:08):
Well, I think there's a two full statement to what
you're saying as far as the right person hindsight twenty
twenty right now, Dave is the right person. I think
he has a unique understanding of offense and I think
we're seeing that the quarterback part of it. He's really
good at that as well. But I also think he
falls in line more with the ownership there, which is

(19:32):
a dangerous game because of temper. But I think frank
Wright could have been the great the right hire as well,
But I don't think frank Wright at that point would
fall in line with Temper and everything that he's.

Speaker 2 (19:42):
Been around long enough exactly he's been around the block.

Speaker 3 (19:45):
He's got his way of doing things.

Speaker 2 (19:47):
Yeah, can Alice's story is well is one that's that's unique,
and he's turned it more into his faith in what
he's done. But he's talked even publicly on some of
the the stuff that he had done in his past,
that he wasn't proud of addiction problems and not your

(20:07):
normal addiction problems. But he's been open about that and
talking about that. So you want to talk about second
chance sort of things or turning stuff around, I think
it works out. We'll see. But the point is is
it's now not a complete waste. You're now seeing something
out of Bryce Young. I still think that the height issue.
We were talking even prior to the game, prior to

(20:30):
the show, Carry and Martin, he and I were the
ones having the discussion of Bryce Young is still having
to jump over the offensive a lot of times to
see over his lineman's head. So they're gonna have to
figure out that whole deal. But it's at least turned
around from what we've seen in Carolina. We watched them
last week and they had the crucial fumble in overtime

(20:53):
that cost him against the Buccaneers, and then today, Oh
so close. But it probably doesn't hurt that they're losing
these games but still showing a lot of heart and
playing good football.

Speaker 4 (21:01):
The small thing with Bryce Young and his height, it
is a disadvantage. He just has to learn, and I
think he is learning. I think this is the evolution
of how he's playing in the pocket as well. It's
all about finding lanes right, being able to navigate the pocket,
not running out of the pocket, not dropping back too far,
like the dynamics of the pocket is a thing, right.

(21:23):
And so we've seen smaller guy Who've seen Doug Footed,
We've seen Steve Young. Those guys aren't big guys. We've
seen Baker Mayfield that's playing well in Tampa. It's not
always a height, And I think that's the illusion that
we get as fans watching it, that we've been told
the prototypical quarterback is six ' four and he's you
know that thing you can be good at being short

(21:44):
and finding windows.

Speaker 3 (21:45):
So he just has to learn and get more comfortable
with it.

Speaker 2 (21:48):
Am I also wrong in saying that Bryce Young also
still looks like he's thirteen years No, you're not.

Speaker 3 (21:53):
He looks like a kid. Hit So there's a point.

Speaker 1 (21:55):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (21:55):
Also, then you're going to develop and you're good. But
right now he is being carted everywhere he goes like
there is no doubt about that. He is carry roads.
I'm dan BYO. Let's throw it over into the news desk.
Martin Weiss giving us saw the latest what's happening in
week fourteen and then some would you say, four or
five jump passes today from Bryce Young?

Speaker 3 (22:15):
Is that what you counted in that game against Philadelphia?

Speaker 6 (22:17):
At least four?

Speaker 9 (22:18):
Like I was white, at least four in the like,
But it it didn't seem it seemed like he was
being coached to do it. Like it wasn't like a
like let me scramble out of here and I gotta
throw to get.

Speaker 5 (22:28):
More on the ball.

Speaker 9 (22:28):
It was like, no, he's standing back there, four or
five step dropped. It's like, well, I can't like he just.

Speaker 6 (22:33):
Hopped up and throw it like like like I like
with Florida and Chris Leaco and Tim t Bow with
don jump passes just like that. Oh, really like minimize
Tim t Bow to Bryce Young size.

Speaker 5 (22:44):
It was like legit jumping, legit jump passes.

Speaker 3 (22:46):
Yes.

Speaker 9 (22:48):
At the half, the Seahawks have a twenty four to
ten lead over the air Zona Cardinals. You know Smith
with a touchdown pass fifteen for eighteen, one hundred and
fifty yards through the air, Kyler Murray ten for sixteen.
He's got one hundred and seventeen, had a touchdown on
the first drive of the game, has thrown two interceptions
since Zach Charbonne with eighty seven yards rushing, had a
fifty yard had that fifty one yard touchdown run. James

(23:10):
Connor only with thirty three yards rushing. That's far again
that game at the half twenty four to ten. Bill's
and the Rams Los Angeles with a twenty fourteen lead
over Buffalo with a with two minutes and thirty six
seconds left in the first half, Matthew staffords nine four
eleven with no touchdowns through the areat but one hundred
and eighteen yards passing. Kyrine Williams and Pooka Nakua with

(23:32):
a rushing touchdowns to add to the score there and
Josh Allen with one passing touchdown through the air to
Tyde Johnson who had a forty one yard touchdown run
again two thirty six left in the second half.

Speaker 6 (23:44):
There two ohs, I mean four oh.

Speaker 9 (23:47):
Seven left in the second quarter for the San Francisco
forty nine ers, who looks like they just scored a touchdown.
I was taken off of the board here. It's twenty
one to nothing. I'm not a math major, didn't you know,
didn't Matt in math? But yeah, minus five passing yards
for Chicago seven rushing that adds up to two yards. Yeah,

(24:09):
we've already almost played two quarters. It's down the game
man who the Bears fire this week?

Speaker 1 (24:17):
Thomas Brown.

Speaker 6 (24:18):
Look, he can't do more.

Speaker 3 (24:20):
He can't do more.

Speaker 9 (24:23):
San Francisco on the on the eleven yard line here
knocking on the door of the end zone again, twenty one.

Speaker 6 (24:29):
To nothing to score. Bears yet to win a road game,
zero to five on the road.

Speaker 9 (24:34):
Earlier today, we saw the Jaguars beat the Titans ten
to six. Dolphins beat the Jets in overtime thirty two
to twenty six. Ahn and Hill with touchdown passes how
many touchdown receptions. Rogers had it three hundred yards passing
the first time at thirty four straight starts, also had
a passing touchdown. But the Jets now eliminated from playoff
contention fourteenth season in a row. The Jets have been

(24:54):
eliminated for playoff contention.

Speaker 3 (24:56):
All right, Martin, you know.

Speaker 9 (24:59):
It's just a longest active drought in North American professional sports.
Vikings beat the Falcons forty two to twenty one. Sam
Darnold had five touchdown passes, two of them to Justin Jefferson.
People happy to see him in the end one it
had been quite a minute. Kirk Cousins not seeing the
end zone. He had two more interceptions. He's had a
brutal last three game, four game stretch and now Saints

(25:22):
beat the Giants fourteen to eleven. Graham Gano had a
potential game time field goal blocked as time expired. Eagles
hung on to beat the Panthers twenty two to sixteen.
Bry Shawn was jumping all over the place. Jalen Hurts
through ten touchdown passes, ran for one. Saquan now has
nine games with over one hundred yards rushing.

Speaker 6 (25:39):
That's the Eagles record.

Speaker 9 (25:40):
He also took the Eagles franchise rushing record from Lashawn
McCoy today. Russell Wilson had two touchdown passes as the
Steelers beat the Browns twenty seven to fourteen. Buccaneers beat
the Raiders twenty eight to thirteen, now Tampa in first
place by itself in the NFC South. Baker had three
touchdown passes. Aidan O'Connell carted off has been Ritter finished

(26:00):
the game for the Raiders, who was able to get
the ball to Brock Bowers, who broke the rookie tight
end reception record.

Speaker 6 (26:06):
He's got eighty seven on the year.

Speaker 9 (26:08):
College football playoff is set Oregon, Georgia, Boise State in
Arizona State.

Speaker 6 (26:13):
Your top four seeds. They all have first round byes.

Speaker 9 (26:16):
The first round matchups will be fifth seeded Texas hosting
twelve seeded Clemson. The winner plays Arizona State in the
Fiesta Bowl. Eighth seeded Ohio State hosts nine seed Tennessee.
They winner at that will play Oregon in the Rolls Bowl.
Six seed Penn State will host eleven seed SMU. The
winner plays Boise State in the Peach Bowl, and seventh
seed Notre Dame hosts the ten seed Indiana.

Speaker 6 (26:38):
The winter plays Georgia in the Sugar Bowl and.

Speaker 9 (26:42):
Them at the two minute warning between the forty nine
ers and the Bears, San Francisco so knocking on the
door with the ball twenty one to nothing two yards
of offense. Be's remaining of the first after Chicago back
to you guys and take.

Speaker 3 (26:54):
That touchdown off the board.

Speaker 2 (26:55):
It's the only right thing that's gone or gaunt thing
that's gone right for the Bears.

Speaker 3 (26:58):
Today.

Speaker 2 (26:59):
You heard Martin talk about the Jets playoff drout. Oh,
there is the team of the second longest playoff drout.

Speaker 3 (27:04):
It's probably going to end their drought this year. Do
you know who that is?

Speaker 5 (27:08):
But the second longest drought playoff drout in the NFL?

Speaker 6 (27:12):
Is it?

Speaker 10 (27:13):
Oh?

Speaker 2 (27:13):
The Broncos. It's the Broncos. Here's the question, who is
tied for the third longest playoff droughts in the NFL?

Speaker 5 (27:24):
I would probably say the Panthers.

Speaker 2 (27:26):
Okay, and and.

Speaker 3 (27:30):
Everybody looking at me run the reason.

Speaker 2 (27:33):
Here's the reason being trying to do this thing on
TikTok by putting trivia questions up.

Speaker 3 (27:38):
Uh huh.

Speaker 2 (27:38):
So we started it this week and by we, I
just said, Hey, Bursch, do you want to answer a
trivia question in the anchor studio? And so that was
the question of what two NFL teams have the third
longest playoff drouts beyond the Jets and Broncos.

Speaker 5 (27:54):
Panthers and Panthers.

Speaker 4 (27:59):
And by the way, this is versus the staja VU
because yeah, right away he goes to the Panthers and
he was correct Panthers and.

Speaker 3 (28:11):
It's got to be AFC.

Speaker 5 (28:13):
I don't think it's am I Am I playing this?
Or am I still banished?

Speaker 3 (28:17):
For somebody helped me? Then?

Speaker 5 (28:20):
Do you want christ to help Chris?

Speaker 3 (28:22):
What you got?

Speaker 11 (28:23):
I think it's the Dolphins, no playoff drought. They have
not been in the playoffs.

Speaker 2 (28:28):
They haven't been there in like eleven months. It's been
eleven months.

Speaker 6 (28:33):
I don't know.

Speaker 11 (28:34):
Yeah, last year I was thinking playoff wins. I'm an idiot,
the Chiefs. I'm gonna be honest, I completely memory holding
me the playoffs.

Speaker 9 (28:44):
Last year, I too thought Dolphins at first, but really, well,
I thought it was playoff wins, playoff drought. I'm gonna
go with the Arizona Cardinals. Is that it carry roads?
Other team that be?

Speaker 5 (28:56):
That's that's who Ryan Berschinger thought, right, that was my guess.

Speaker 3 (28:59):
Yeah. The Atlanta Falcons is the Falcons? The Falcons? Yes, Wow?

Speaker 5 (29:04):
Have they been back since the Super Bowl?

Speaker 2 (29:06):
It's yes, but it hasn't been that often six years.

Speaker 6 (29:11):
Wow.

Speaker 3 (29:12):
I wouldn't have that at all.

Speaker 2 (29:13):
Yeah, I know crazy the reason because they almost beat
Philadelphia that next year in the wild card game when
they ended up coming in. But I think there was
an appearance or two after that, but Atlanta Falcons definitely
what thought Carolina Panthers.

Speaker 3 (29:27):
You can see that on TikTok. By the way, buy
your talk. That's where. That's where I am tiktoking.

Speaker 2 (29:33):
I love TikTok, and I'm sure all my information has
been compromised.

Speaker 3 (29:37):
But the point is, yes, is.

Speaker 2 (29:41):
It provides hours, hours of mindless entertainment. But we were hey,
we were up over one thousand views. Yes, yes on it.
So more trivia to come maybe on the social media site.

Speaker 3 (29:55):
Is Martin told you?

Speaker 2 (29:56):
The Rams have that lead over the Bills twenty four
to fourteen. In a the Rams is trying to get
into the face of one Josh Allen. The Seahawks and
Cardinals are at the half. It is twenty four to
ten Seahawks. Honestly, as a Seahawks fan, you haven't played
for the Cardinals. I thought this was the game where
it ends for Seattle. They've been on this nice little

(30:17):
streak as of late. But when you get two turnovers
and they convert them into points. Yes, that's all you
can ask for. And in the NFL, and not to
sound cliche, esk turn the football over. The point is
is when things are so even or it's just this
or that, those two turnovers are monumental and for Seattle

(30:38):
to cash in evident right now in their two score lead.

Speaker 5 (30:41):
It's everything.

Speaker 4 (30:42):
You come out, you get an opening drive that goes
in your favor, you're upset to nothing. Then you turn
them all over two times in a row and give
the team that you just had the momentum going on.
You give it right back to them, and now they're
comfortable in the game. Now it's tough letting from here.
Find him on x Carry twenty five roads. You can
find me at dan Byer on Fox.

Speaker 3 (31:03):
I'm also on.

Speaker 2 (31:03):
Blue Sky as well. You can find that at dan Byer.
And the Niners kicked the field goal, so it's now
twenty four to nothing. San Francisco over the Bears at
the two minute warning. Here's Carry Rhads. I'm Dan bier
Re allot forth Tirek dot Com Studios. Coming up next,
they look at our fantasy numbers plus our Week fourteen dilemma.
If you had to choose, where would you want to be?

(31:24):
That's next here on Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (31:26):
Please, you're listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.

Speaker 12 (31:31):
Stafford under center, Kyroen is a single back jogging in
slow motion to cool down Doc less Son. He takes
the hadoff, He's got locks. He walks in touchdown book
in the coops.

Speaker 7 (31:42):
Touchdown Rams once again, here's Dan Byer and Carrie Roads.

Speaker 2 (31:47):
Yeah, one of three games in our late window. Here
Rams Radio Network on the call. Welcome in. It is
week fourteen and the Rams have that twenty four to
fourteen lead over the Bills at the half. Just under
way of the second half, it's the Seahawks leading the
Cardinals twenty four to ten. Seahawks getting the opening kickoff
of the second half and we'll face a third and

(32:09):
five from their own thirty five yard line, while the
Niners and Bears have gone to half twenty four to nothing.
San Francisco in that one, I think that there is
more of a San Francisco discussion to take place. Both
carry and I picked them last week against Buffalo. Boy
were we wrong?

Speaker 5 (32:23):
Yes?

Speaker 2 (32:24):
And I think that it's over. And as I've mentioned earlier,
the teams that the forty nine ers are competing against.
Shouldn't aren't the teams that we thought that they would
be competing against. At the beginning of the year, we
thought they'd be competing against the top of the NFC
And right now they're just wondering if they can find
a path to win the NFC West. And those are
two enormously different conversations when you're trying to evaluate is

(32:49):
your team a super Bowl contender ating winner, which this
season was, that's what the season was all about, or
can we just make the playoffs? Because even if the
forty nine ers make the playoffs, carry I just don't
believe that they are a super Bowl contending team. It
would be beaten by a variety of teams that would
make the bracket in the NFC.

Speaker 3 (33:08):
Yeah, one hundred percent.

Speaker 4 (33:09):
I mean nobody was coming into this season saying that
this was a French playoff team. I mean, we just
saw them playing in Super Bowl, right, So most of
those all of those guys were coming back. Obviously, some
confusion and some delay and stuff that was happening, delayed,
stuff that was happening with them getting their guys signed,
and I think we talked about it coming into the year.

(33:30):
I felt that they would come, you know, be a
little slow early on, had to play a little catch
up to get their guys in shape and ready into
the system and ready to go. And then you have
injuries and stuff that we didn't even see, you know,
unforeseen stuff that you know, with the Christian McCaffrey, stuff
that we didn't know about. We thought he'd be healthy,
so that came into play. That was never a factor

(33:51):
for us as the season progressed, and so now they're
in a just trying to scrape by and make the playoffs,
which is not a success story.

Speaker 3 (33:58):
When they come to San Francisco.

Speaker 2 (34:01):
I think what the forty nine ERD fans will tell
you is that, well, last week we played in the Blizzard.
The week before we didn't have Rock Purty available, and
the week prior we just blew a lead against Seattle
in a game that we should have won. That's our
three game losing streak. Sure, but the health is one thing,
the snow conditions are another. But you lose your star
running back in that game, and you lose your backup

(34:23):
running back again. I just I think it's too tough
of a mountain to climb and I'm sorry. Dominating a
completely defeated Bears team doesn't doesn't change my opinion of
who San Francisco is. Let's uh, it's about that time.
Let's get a quick look at some fantasy numbers. Ryan
Berschinger's here with our fantasy hits.

Speaker 1 (34:42):
Fantasy hits and missus.

Speaker 2 (34:46):
Big week end of the regular season for some leagues,
so much carry roads is on the line. I know
on our Fox Sports Radio Guillotine League, it's h there's
a final four and today is the last shop. Really, yes,
Monci is not here. Monsey maybe on the chopping block
right now, but yeah, it's crunch time in fantasy football,

(35:09):
Isn't that right?

Speaker 3 (35:09):
Ryan bersching here, that's right.

Speaker 5 (35:11):
And with a ton of teams on by as well.
The NFL put a whole bunch of teams on buy
in Week fourteen, a week that matters to.

Speaker 7 (35:16):
A lot of us.

Speaker 4 (35:17):
Wait, why is it over already? It doesn't go all
the way through the end of the season, Like, how
does that work?

Speaker 5 (35:21):
You don't play the last week? I mean a lot
of people don't, okay, because you know a lot of
a lot of guys won't play, that's right, in the
last week. So try to stay off of that. Let's
focus in on these early seven games for some hits
and misses. Here, your top scoring quarterback on the day
is Sam Darnold twenty two of twenty eight for three
hundred and forty seven yards in a career high five

(35:44):
touchdowns against the Falcons. Rashad White your top scoring running
back on the day, seventeen rushes for ninety yards and
a touchdown. Two catches on three targets for nineteen yards
and a touchdown through the air. Jordan Addison and Justin
Jefferson are your top scoring receivers of the day. Yes,
they caught all five of Sam Darnold's five touchdowns. Addison
eight catches on twelve targets for one hundred and thirty

(36:05):
three and three touchdowns. Justin Jefferson seven catches on seven
targets for one hundred and thirty two yards and two touchdowns.
First game with a receiving touchdown in a month for
Justin Jefferson. David and Joku your top scoring tight end
on the day, seven catches on thirteen targets for forty
two yards and a touchdown. Now let's look at some
misses and again, as I mentioned, We're focusing on these
seven games from this morning. Yes, we are not going

(36:26):
to mention Thursday night in the misses. We're not going
to talk about Jayden Reid's zero point showing on Thursday night.
We're not going to mention it. Kirk Cousins twenty three
of thirty seven for three hundred and forty four yards
and a revenge game against the Vikings. Zero touchdowns, two interceptions,
which I believe is in the last four games. What
zero touchdowns eight interceptions. Now for Kirk Cousins, that's a wow.

Speaker 2 (36:49):
There's a discussion coming up at the top of the
hour on the two dueling quarterbacks in Minneapolis.

Speaker 5 (36:53):
For right, Alvin Kamara kind of a miss today. Seventeen
rushes over forty four yards on the ground. Did have
five catches five targets for thirty five yards. So in
PPR he saved you a bit there, But such is
the case for Alvin Kamara often. AJ Brown four catches
on four targets for forty three yards. Again, we're not
mentioning Jayden Reed. He played on Thursday. He had zero points.
AJ Brown had four catches and forty three yards more

(37:16):
than Jayden Reed did. But of course he's still a
miss today Jordan Reid jade, But in fairness, Jordan Reid
also scored zerious.

Speaker 3 (37:24):
There you go. So while he was money at times, no, yeah,
that was good.

Speaker 5 (37:29):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (37:30):
And TJ.

Speaker 5 (37:30):
Howkinson, all the touchdowns went to other guys on his team.
Four catches on five targets for only forty five yards,
but again forty five more yards than Jayden Reid had
on Thursday night.

Speaker 2 (37:39):
And those are your fantasy hits and missus, Oh, it's
better rubble for Ryan Pershing, he is invested. You mentioned
Alvin Kamara's numbers. Here's my question for you guys. Which
game would you rather have attended today? Saints Giants or
Jaguars Titans?

Speaker 5 (37:54):
Man? Can I take a nap? And oh?

Speaker 1 (37:57):
I have no? Yes? Can I drinking stuff?

Speaker 3 (38:00):
Sell me?

Speaker 2 (38:01):
Everybody sell me on the reason you're going to one
over the other.

Speaker 4 (38:06):
Oh, I go to Giants, sayings just because that's home
for me, so I'll get to see all my people
in my family.

Speaker 3 (38:10):
You'd be in New York. It'll be an attachment to me.

Speaker 2 (38:12):
Okay, New York could be a better option, although Nashville
probably a little bit warmer, right, And it's been great entertainment,
so after the game, you could check that out.

Speaker 3 (38:22):
Bush.

Speaker 2 (38:23):
If you had a ticket to go to each one
of those games, which one are you taking?

Speaker 3 (38:27):
Which? When you're leaving on the table.

Speaker 5 (38:28):
I keep going back and forth. I think I would
go Jaguars Titans because I think less people would be
at that one, and I really like sitting in full
second fair enough.

Speaker 2 (38:37):
Yeah, it would be less people if you don't have
to deal with the swamp and downtown is not far away.

Speaker 3 (38:42):
Chris perfet I.

Speaker 11 (38:44):
Think i'd go probably Giant Saints at the very least.

Speaker 5 (38:49):
I mean, this is hard to polish either of these games.

Speaker 3 (38:52):
But that's the whole exercise.

Speaker 2 (38:55):
Yeah, these are two miserable games that people showed up
to today.

Speaker 3 (39:00):
I'll tell you what.

Speaker 2 (39:00):
They showed A crowd shot at the end of the
Titans Jaguars game of just miserable fans, and half of
them were wearing Jaguar uniforms and they won. So like
there were two guys just standing there expressionless, figuring out
that their team just worse than their draft position exactly
to a division rival, by the way, and got their

(39:21):
first road win of the season. Martin Weiss, you want in,
you want Giant Saints or Jaguars Titans from today, He's
going Giants Saints.

Speaker 6 (39:29):
Oh yeah, and I would rather going to the Jaguars game.

Speaker 9 (39:34):
Yeah, because I am I ever going to be able
to sit at the fifty yard line? Yeah right, just
walk in here and New York the security is going
to be too strong.

Speaker 6 (39:42):
In Florida, I can just saunter on down.

Speaker 3 (39:44):
You can bring clothes, bags and everything you over the head.
I would just go.

Speaker 2 (39:51):
I would go Saints Giants because you can always see
the Jaguars and Titans. Right, there's always a division matchup
and at one point and it was a big rivalry
in the NFL. All how times have changed? All right,
He's carry Roads. I'm Dan Beyer. The Minnesota Vikings got
a big win today and the Alanta Falcons would dealt
a horrible loss. It all happened in one game and

(40:13):
it's a game that we break down next year on
Fox Sports Red Zone Radio.

Speaker 1 (40:18):
Don't listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.

Speaker 2 (40:21):
Dare I say a Carry Roads that the Seahawks may
actually be good?

Speaker 3 (40:28):
They might be, They might be.

Speaker 4 (40:30):
I think if we talked about before, if Gno Smith
doesn't feel like he has to play hero ball and
they start to figure out that defense, which it seems
like they have, they might be good.

Speaker 2 (40:42):
And just as I say that, Geno Smith watches a
flip to JSN on a trick play as they're inside
the red zone. In fact, it was Jasn's fault. They
didn't catch the pitch from Geno Smith and it almost
was a turnover for Seattle. But you heard Martin say,
the Seahawks are up twenty four to ten and they're
looking at add some points. They're gonna have a third
down here and up fourteen inside the red zone. It's

(41:05):
now third and fourteen though, but this could be a
three score game in just.

Speaker 3 (41:09):
A little bit.

Speaker 2 (41:10):
As we are broadcasting line from the tierrec dot com
studios tierrac dot com, we'll help you get there. An
unmatt selection fast free shipping, free road has a protection
and over ten thousand recommended, and solos tirerac dot com
the way tire buying should be passing to the end
zone intended for Tyler Lockett falls incomplete. So Jason Myers
will now come on and attempt a field goal. So

(41:30):
the Seahawks looking to make it a twenty seven to
ten ballgame. Lockett also close and ring reeling it in
but just couldn't do so. So it's one of the
three games in this late window. Also watching the Niners
at Bears, basically peeking through our fingers as we try
not to watch the Bears offense they are. It is
all forty nine ers today and the Bills and Rams
and a good one Rams up ten right now on Buffalo,

(41:53):
a game that you both like the Rams and high
like the Rams today just because of the spot Buffalo
is in and right now the Rams showing out Aams
getting a clearer picture of where they could be in
the division race. As Jason Myers field goal is good.
So the Seahawks are up twenty seven to ten in
that contest. Yes, all four NFC West teams in action

(42:13):
in this late window of three games. We'll get to
the Chiefs Chargers later on tonight from Kansas City later
on in the program. Let's look back earlier today because
there's one game to me that stands out. And it
stands out because I thought when we found out that
the Falcons were going to be playing in Minnesota, that
this would have been a prime time game. This would

(42:34):
have been one that the NFL wanted to cash in
Kirk Cousins returning to Minnesota, the team that he left
via free agency. But I even felt late last year
with the decision making that Minnesota had at the quarterback position,
that they didn't want Kirk Cousins back. And that was
also the narrative that came out that both parties kind
of knew that they weren't going to return and be together.

(42:56):
And right now, boys out of boom for the Minnesota
Vikings entering what happened today, You heard Ryan bershing are
mentioning it a little bit earlier, but Sam Darnold with
quite the day the Fantasy Day, three hundred and forty
seven yards, five touchdown passes for Minnesota in the forty
two to twenty one wins. The Vikings improved to eleven
and two. As for Kirk Cousins, he and the Falcons

(43:18):
now six or seven, three hundred and forty four yards
looks nice?

Speaker 3 (43:21):
What doesn't look nice? Zero touchdowns, two interceptions.

Speaker 4 (43:25):
Yeah, Sam Donald the last four games eleven touchdowns, zero interception,
so he's playing really good ball. On the flip side
of that, Kirk Cousins had zero touchdowns and eight interceptions,
so he's not playing well, and the thing about Kirk
Cousins right now, I was on my way over here
to the studio and I was just thinking. I was like,

(43:46):
you know, everybody talked about that Daniel Jones contract and
how bad it was, and it was bad. I think
Kirk Cousins has committed the biggest heist in the NFL
history really when it comes to contracts. And it doesn't
mean he's not a good player. I'm just talking about
the contract. There's no way and I said this before
it even happened, as far as there's no way you
pay somebody who's coming off from the Achilles injury, leaving

(44:09):
the situation where the team, and I agree with you
didn't want to bring him back. So there's already a
red flag there. What's going on with that? And you
pay him the amount of money they did, with the
years attached to it, it just wasn't a good deal. Now,
he's had some good moments this year.

Speaker 5 (44:26):
He's played.

Speaker 4 (44:26):
You know, when they were six and three, it looked
like it was a good deal. They've lost four in
a row and he's been the main proponent in why
they've been losing. As far as these games, I mean,
he's turned the ball over too much. I mean obviously
not throwing touchdowns, so he's not helping that team win.
And right now it just looks like, I mean, you
got to ride him out for this year because of
that contract. But I mean, we're going to see the

(44:47):
rookie sooner than I thought we would.

Speaker 2 (44:49):
I've never I just you cannot tell me Atlanta made
a smart decision when it comes to how they handled
their quarterback position this offseason, because I think what people
say Carrie is well, look, Atlanta protected themselves. They protected
their investment by signing Kirk Cousins to his deal and

(45:11):
then backing that up by picking Michael Pennix junior. And
I just I don't agree with that. If you liked
Pennix enough, then have him be your starting quarterback or
bring in somebody that maybe is going to be there
for a one year age yeah, at some point where
he can then take over this year.

Speaker 3 (45:29):
But that wasn't.

Speaker 2 (45:29):
In fact, when minister excuse me in Atlanta wanted to
go after kirk Cousins, they went after him so soon
that the NFL had to investigate whether they tampered or not.
I mean, kirk Cousins' family was looking for schools for
their kids in Atlanta before free agency even began in
early March, like, these are things that were known. However,

(45:49):
they didn't get the tampering penalties handed down, so be it.
But still it seemed like Atlanta was destined to sign
Kirk Cousins from the get go. Is one of the
first free agent signings that we had, and I just yeah,
now you can look back at and say, well, thank goodness,
now Panis is there and they can move on from Cousins.
But that does an erase what Kirk Cousins, by the way,

(46:12):
is done. Is you talk about the heist that he
has done. He's done it with every NFI. Yes, And
I'm wondering why more quarterbacks don't do that. Why aren't
more quarterbacks playing the game like Kirk Cousins. Give me
a shorter deal, guarantee everything, and then I'll just get
another contract because he's in the spot of he's good enough, yeah,

(46:36):
of course, but he's not great enough that you need
to lock him in and hold him in and you
would have a discussion on a franchise tag in doing
it in multiple years there's and he's he's played the
system so no matter what you say about his on
field stuff, he's figured out a way to cash in

(46:56):
the most with.

Speaker 4 (46:57):
His career and he's a success story. Now I'm not
taking anything away from him as a player in his career.
I mean we to be, you know, the fourth round guy,
to be the essentially the same the backup plan that
Pennix was for for this this iteration of where he
is in his career. I mean, you know, he came
in and he was the second quarterback taken after after

(47:18):
RG three. I was a fourth round the second was
fourth round. Yeah, and so he had that, so he
knows what that what that looks like. But I'm just
talking about when I say the heist, it's just the
years in this contract. So he's done the one two
year things, but this one I think he got.

Speaker 5 (47:33):
Did he get four? What was it three? It's four years?
G Yeah, that was power Like it's just that's just
it's ridiculous to me.

Speaker 2 (47:38):
I got to bring up the h we've got so
many windows on my four year one eighty that's crazy. Yeah,
that's that's ridiculous. Fifty million dollars shining bonus and then
one hundred million guaranteed and the average annual salary is
forty five million dollars. But again, this is from a
guy who's also in his thirties coming off of an
Achilles injury.

Speaker 4 (47:59):
It's yeah, And there was a weird discussion that I
saw when that happened.

Speaker 3 (48:04):
At the time. I think it was Cam Newton, I think.

Speaker 4 (48:06):
Or whatever, and he was like, how did And at
the time, I was like, well, whatever, quarterback is going
to get paid. But he's like, do you think any
other quarterback in that situation coming off in the Achilles would
get that much guaranteed money? It just it kind of
blew my It blew my mind. Dak broke his leg,
but Dak was young, but it was invested with that team. Yeah,

(48:27):
you know, but and he was young and it was
a break, a broken bone as opposed to you know,
you're dealing with an achilles and Kirk Cousins thirty six,
and we had questions about Aaron Rodgers and what he
would be able to do. And it's not like Kirk
Cousins was mobile prior to the injury. Yeah, you don't
mean to laugh, but that there is a potential out
spot track such a savior when it comes to these

(48:50):
contract discussions, potential out after the second year, but at
least goes in line. But still I don't think now
it's I don't want to say it's been a waste
of a year, but it just doesn't seem like they've
gotten the most out of it. And now you've delayed
Michael Pennix's opportunity to take over. And I don't know
how much better or worse they are with Michael Pennix

(49:12):
as their quarterback. That's what that's true. And we talked
about it last week. I said he's Kirk sit still
be the guy. I still agree with that. It is
not that he should be taken out right, Yeah, something
he hasn't played well.

Speaker 2 (49:25):
The Falcons put themselves in the situation. The Minnesota Vikings
didn't necessarily put themselves in their current situation. They signed
Sam Darnold in the off season to the one year deal,
but they also drafted JJ McCarthy in the first round,
and in August McCarthy goes down with his knee injury

(49:47):
and his loss for the season. Carry Roads It's it's
time for me to to brag a little bit.

Speaker 3 (49:54):
Let's do it.

Speaker 2 (49:55):
This was a conversation that Manzie Milanos and myself had
on August fourteenth when the news of the JJ McCarthy
injury came down from Minnesota, and this was my initial
gut reaction on how things are going to play out
for Minnesota when this what at the time was thought
to be possibly devastating news that JJ McCarthy was not

(50:16):
going to play this year for Minnesota. This bit of
audio is from August. This is good news for Minnesota.
This is actually good news for JJ McCarthy. This is
great news for Sam Donald. Not that you wish anybody
to be injured, but this is what this does. JJ
McCarthy out for the year in a season that he
probably should have sat anyway. This is the plan, this

(50:37):
is the thought process. Unless he completely wowed you, it's
Sam Donald's year. There wasn't a quarterback that was taken
in the first round that needed more time to sit
than JJ McCarthy. And now he'll just be doing some
of it through rehab and a knee injury, but he
probably needs that season to sit for Minnesota. You're not
putting in a spot to force JJ McCarthy into the

(50:59):
starting life, which then translates to Sam Donald, who signed
the one year deal for ten million dollars. If you're
Sam Donald, you no longer have to worry about anybody
sneaking up behind you taking your job, wondering when they're
going to pull the plug, when the bye week is
going to happen, because you may lose your job the
next week. This allows Sam Donald to just all right,
I'm gonna play and I'm here on the one year deal,

(51:22):
and you know what, if we do well enough, they'll
either want me back or somebody else will want me.

Speaker 3 (51:28):
And that is the situation.

Speaker 2 (51:29):
Now there is actually discussion what does Minnesota do now
that you know that you've got Sam Donald, You've seen
what he could do. JJ McCarthy, by no means is
a sure thing. This has worked out now things had
to go Minnesota's way. But today, after throwing five touchdown
passes against the quarterback that you had no problem in seeing,
leave Minnesota sitting there at eleven and two in a

(51:51):
pretty good spot.

Speaker 4 (51:52):
Very interesting, very interesting. It's not like Sam Donald, Oh
we'll either. So he's still young and he's you know,
the reclamation project has been complete. He is a different quarterback.
He's seeing the field differently. Obviously the last four games
week that's pretty evident, and now you know he's you know,
I don't know what the marriage is between O'Connell and Donald,

(52:16):
and I don't know where that is with him and McCarthy. Obviously,
McCarthy would have probably been this guy if they brought
him in. At this point, it's gonna be very interesting
because Sam Donald's gonna get paid this offseason regardless, and
he's going to go to a team and have a
you know, it's going to have a shot to be
a starting quarterback again.

Speaker 3 (52:32):
Anyway, is he your guy?

Speaker 4 (52:34):
I think the rest of the season is going to
be key, but also the playoffs is going to be
key as well.

Speaker 2 (52:39):
The decision making process in Minnesota, as you said, is
going to be interesting. But honestly, I don't think that
they're in a lose situation. If Sam Donald goes somewhere
else and gets paid an exorbitant amount of money, then
that's fine. You've got your backup plan and for him,
good for Sam Donald. Yeah, and if they bring him

(53:00):
back because Sam likes it there, even better because if
Sam does falter at some point, and guess what, you
still have JJ McCarthy there. If not, you still have
your quarterback of the future.

Speaker 4 (53:09):
Think about J. J. McCarthy really quickly though, Like you
come in and think you're going to be the guy.
You're the number what is the number three pick in
the draft or something? It was ten, Yeah, around ten club,
that's top ten, and you think you're going to be
the guys you have the injury and now you see
the quarterback that's in front of you, or they brought
in as a bridge being really really good.

Speaker 2 (53:26):
It's tough happens with these injuries. All right, we got
some updates. Kyen Williams into the end zone for the Rams.
Extra point is good. They're now up on the Bills
thirty one to fourteen. The Cardinals have just gotten into
the end zone. Kyler Murray with a short little pass
to James Connor. Connor takes it in. So it's twenty
seven to sixteen. Arizona here is going for two to

(53:48):
make it a nine point game, and Kyler Murray is
able to get to the edge and get into the
end zone twenty seven to eighteen.

Speaker 3 (53:57):
Why did they do that?

Speaker 4 (53:57):
Dan, you said it before, but why do they do
well now? This one doesn't make much sense, to be
honest with you. And now they can now they can,
I guess, win the game with a field goal and
a touchdown, But I guess that would be the thinking
I had no idea and why they wouldn't have just
kicked the extra point in that scenario. What has happened
a lot in the NFL now when teams are down

(54:19):
to a squad, if they're if it's a fourteen point
deficit and they score to make it an eight point deficit,
they'll go for two because it's about fifty to fifty
on fifty.

Speaker 3 (54:31):
Percent chance of you making the two point conversion.

Speaker 2 (54:34):
So if you don't get it there, you're only down
by eight and you can tie it at the end.
But if you do get it, then just a touchdown
on an extra point against the game for you.

Speaker 3 (54:42):
So confuse it.

Speaker 2 (54:43):
Yeah, very very confusing. But the two point conversion was good.
So it's Seattle twenty seven, Arizona eighteen and the Chicago Bears.

Speaker 3 (54:51):
Yes, hold the presses.

Speaker 2 (54:53):
The Chicago Bears into the end zone for the first
time today Roma Dunzay a four yard touchdown reception from
Caleb Williams, but it's still all Niners twenty four to
six with five point fifty five left to go in
the third quarter.

Speaker 4 (55:06):
They now have twelve yards total, a little more than that,
but not that far off.

Speaker 5 (55:13):
He has carrier Roads.

Speaker 3 (55:14):
I'm Dan Byer.

Speaker 2 (55:15):
Caleb Williams twelve of sixteen for sixty five yards and
they touched here. It is what is the market going
to be for one Sam Darnold this off season? Was
the Eagles almost take up today against the Panthers. Cause
for concern and who has the real shot tonight? Who
needs tonight between the Chiefs and Chargers. We'll talk about
it all next. He's Carrier Roads. I'm Dan Byer.

Fox Sports Red Zone Radio. He's carry RHADS the Allpro.
I'm Dan Byer, Bills and Rams and I believe Khalil
Shakira has just gotten into the end zone for Buffalo,
taking a third and eight pass from Josh Allen, breaking
tackles along the way and getting to the house. So
now we've got a ballgame extra point coming up. But

(56:14):
the bill is still alive. Thirty one to twenty against
the Rams. That contest is late in the third quarter,
three p. Fifty four to go, just start of the
fourth quarter, Seahawks up on the Cardinals twenty seven to eighteen.
Seahawks facing a third and eight. It looked like the
Seahawks had this game in hand up seventeen. The Cardinals
were able to score and convert on the two point conversion,

(56:35):
and now the Seahawks trying to keep this drive alive
as they're still in their own territory, facing a third
and eight from their own thirty two yard line to
do the Bear score. But it's still all Niners twenty
four to six. In that game in Santa Clara. He
has carry rhads. I'm Dan Beyer, Fast Times the Carry
Roads coming up next hour here breaking down one of
the big scores of the day. Joining us now to

(56:56):
talk about the ins and outs of Week fourteen and
the National Football League. You can hear him on the
Inside the Birds podcast, read him on the Pro Football Network,
and hear him right here on Fox Sports Radio or
NFL insider Adam Kaplan joins this.

Speaker 3 (57:08):
Adam, Let's start in your backyard. Happy Week fourteen.

Speaker 2 (57:11):
Philadelphia Eagles Today gonna win against Carolina. Carry and I
were saying, this is so much more about Carolina today.
But is there any concern for Philadelphia after a performance
today where they eke out a win against one of
the have knots if you will in the National Football League?

Speaker 13 (57:27):
Oh yeah, Dan, Look, Jane Hurts does not played well
this season as a passer.

Speaker 6 (57:31):
It's a major problem. They know it.

Speaker 13 (57:33):
It's not something that they're surprised about based on the
way he started this season or did more. Week two
against Atlanta that was a really bad game. Week one
actually played fairly Welkins Green Bay, but they got a problem.
He's not pulling the trigger throws that are there. He's
not making neither defense by the way, we'll get to
that in a minute. Defense they had some struggles. They
had not seen anyone like Bryce Young before, the way

(57:53):
that he scrambled. Also Tuba Hubbard very unique running style
that hurt their defense. But Herts Irving Fryar, the former
Eagles receiver retired, you know in the early two thousands.
He he actually called Hurts out and he just told
the truth. He was on local radio here and I
think he's one hundred percent right. Jen Jalen does not
pull the trigger on on throws over the middle. He's

(58:15):
done make tight window throws. It's a problem because Krrie
knows this is a former player. This isn't college football.
Not everything's gonna be wide open. You got to make
throws and more often not, He's not making it, and
it's absolutely hurting the football team.

Speaker 4 (58:29):
Yeah, when you watch Jalen hurts play from me, just
from my perspective, if it isn't open, if the design
of the play doesn't give him the window that he
needs to make the throw, he cannot make the contested
throw in.

Speaker 3 (58:40):
The middle right now.

Speaker 6 (58:42):
Yeah? Why?

Speaker 4 (58:43):
And I think it's stay on some last year. He
made a lot of mistakes last year, a lot of interceptions.
So I think it's a little gun shy but fair.
Let's I want to switch it. I want to talk
about I want to talk about a team that's still
kind of under the radar. They just had a big
win today and now they are eleven and two. In
their quarterback in the last four games has thrown eleven
to us down and knowing this suption, Let's talk about

(59:04):
the Vikens and Sam Donald.

Speaker 6 (59:05):
I got carry.

Speaker 13 (59:06):
I never saw this from sim Donald because quite frankly,
he made so many mistakes over his career with the
Jets and Panthers. Now we get all to bay. Was
the talent around him good enough, coaching good enough, that's fine.
And Kevin O'Connell they head coach and play college your
quarterback whisper. He's incredible, so good. But it's carry, it's
the decision making. He's just not turning the ball over.

(59:29):
He's decisive, he sees it and he's throwing it. You know,
before he would he would stare down past targets, not
moving and get hit and turn it over. He's not
doing that anymore. They're getting the ballt of his hands.
And Adams Jordan Adison's phenomenal today. It's amazing to me
that this is a team nobody's talking about.

Speaker 6 (59:46):
The eleven and two.

Speaker 13 (59:48):
There's somehow only one game out of first place and
the first seed. By the way, it's kind of incredible.
It's hard to believe, but it's true. I look that
this this season has been a story worry of what
how did this happen? The Broncos, by the way, and
the AFC, the linesmakers gave him five and a half wins.
They have eight. Okay, they're over under totals five and

(01:00:08):
a half. There's just things you can't see. And the
Broncos in particular the Vikings clearly, who could have seen this?

Speaker 6 (01:00:16):
Certainly not Ill.

Speaker 2 (01:00:18):
And the question, because Carrie and I were talking about
this before you came on, is now, what's next for Donald?
And how much does Minnesota pony up when you have
JJ McCarthy. Yeah, and they're not the first round pick. Yeah,
they can't. So then how to play how many? How
many other? How many teams then are in on Donald
for next year?

Speaker 3 (01:00:36):
All right?

Speaker 13 (01:00:37):
So right now teams that I that I could tell you, dude,
not who they're starting quarterback is going to be next year?

Speaker 6 (01:00:41):
The Giants don't. The Panthers will see.

Speaker 13 (01:00:44):
That's an assert that the Saints don't cars on a contract,
but there's no guaranteed money. It hasn't worked out for them.
You know, if they're willing to many I'm for surely
got hurt today. But if they're willing to left left
hand for the will in a minute, they don't know. Sure,
Kirk Cousins, this is the look.

Speaker 6 (01:00:59):
He wasn't there.

Speaker 13 (01:01:00):
The reason why they lost their defense was horrendous today. Boy,
what has happened to the landa defense? No Pat Rush. Yeah,
that's bad. So Atlanta doesn't know. The kirk Cousins the
twenty seven a half million dollars, there's no guaranteed money.
I mean it's guaranteed. Excuse me, it's a very tradable contract.
They're not gonna bench because this contract, they're gonna betch
them if they do, because they're not in it exactly,

(01:01:21):
and they have Michael Pennix. You other than that, if
you go to La Vegas, does not know, absolutely does
not know. The Titans don't know, the Jets don't know,
the Browns don't know. So there's going to be a market.
We could say whatever you want about kirk Cousins. Okay,
people out there takes their shots at him. Yeah, okay,

(01:01:44):
that's it's it's all fair.

Speaker 6 (01:01:45):
Yeah.

Speaker 13 (01:01:46):
They And by the way, Russell I know the Steelers want.
I'm told the Steelers want. They feel like they're gonna
want Russell Wilson back. Yeah, but he's not under contract.
So there are a bunch of teams. Dan, good question.
The demand outlives supply right now. And by the way,
we'll get to the draft later on. But I could
tell you right now there's only two quarterbacks probably a
quarter of first round grades.

Speaker 6 (01:02:05):
Milro is probably second. So this is not a good
year to any of the quarterback.

Speaker 10 (01:02:09):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:02:09):
I know mill Roll is great on the ground. I
don't know, he's not ready. Yeah, yeah, yeah, no, that's
I know.

Speaker 6 (01:02:15):
I think it's I think it's the second rounder, to
be honest with.

Speaker 4 (01:02:18):
You, Yeah, I mean we talked about the actual quarterback
slots and teams that are, you know, that could be
in the market for that position. I think it's he's
going to have to be another bridge, another bridge quarterback
this year. I don't really see him getting a big
long term deal. Arnold, Yeah, you do.

Speaker 3 (01:02:35):
You see that.

Speaker 6 (01:02:35):
What's a great question, Kerrisey. Here's the thing.

Speaker 13 (01:02:37):
So we just said that the demand is outliving the supply.
Now here's what you do. It's a great point. You
give him Baker Meal Baker Mayfield contract, which he's got
two years of fully guaranteed money, so obviously you're not
worried about it after you look or the second year.
The guaranteed money is low where you could cut them
and just take maybe like a ten million dollar.

Speaker 6 (01:02:57):
Capit where you live with it.

Speaker 13 (01:02:59):
But Donald at least bakerd shown some Baker showed some
signs earlier in his career, but never could sustain it
with Cleveland, where Donald's never played well into the season.
That's the problem that you have with Donald. And if
you're a general manager out there, you've got to protect yourself.

Speaker 6 (01:03:15):
You can't.

Speaker 13 (01:03:16):
You really can't go more than a season and a
half a full of guarantee money.

Speaker 6 (01:03:19):
Gotta be very careful. It's a great question, folks.

Speaker 13 (01:03:21):
This is a this is a fascinating subject, the state
of the quarterback play and contracts around the national Footballager.

Speaker 2 (01:03:27):
Adam Kaplan joining us here on Fox Sports Radio. He's
carry Roads. I'm Dan Byer. Just to keep you updated.
No changes in the score. Rams still up ten on Buffalo,
Seahawks up nine on the Cardinals, and the Niners have
that twenty four to six lead on the Bears in
those three games in our late window. All right, I
want to focus on playoff picture in what we've got

(01:03:47):
going on right now, especially in the AFC when you've
got Kansas City on top, and you've got this Chargers
team tonight coming in to KC in what I feel
they must must win for the Chargers. Do the Chargers
have enough to do any damage or are we starting
to see maybe this is what Jim harbaughd just had

(01:04:10):
to deal with at the beginning of the season. Do
they have any chance tonight to go into Kansas City
and get a get a victory against the chick.

Speaker 13 (01:04:16):
Well, they have a chance because they're they've they're eight
and four and they've played good football.

Speaker 6 (01:04:20):
So the story is not their offense.

Speaker 13 (01:04:21):
Its story has been their defense and their Jesse Minter,
You if you grated the talent dan on defense, you go,
how are they doing this? Well, they have a great
scheme and the execution is phenomenal. They're not very talent
on the back end. In fact, in fact, other than
Derwin James, I would argue that they're one of the
least talented defenses in the back seven. They're just they
execute the heck out of it. They tackle well, but offensively,

(01:04:43):
the loss of JK. Dobbins is massive, huge. Gus Edwards
is just not good enough. He's a good backup, you know,
he's he's a great story as an undrafted free agent,
but it's they need the juice of Dobbins. Dobbins, it's
so sad acl injury in his career, torn achilles, and
he looked like he revived his career, but he's another
knee injuries on IR. Now what you want to watch

(01:05:03):
in that game with the Chargers and chases DJ Humphries
is I understand is going to start tonight at left tackle.
They got the Chiefs has got to get this left
tackle thing situated. This is embarrassing that it's happened this late.
And Humphreys, by the way, is coming off of to
an ACL from last season turns thirty one a couple weeks,
So watch out for that. And obviously Mintor knows this,
so that watch out for that matchup tonight.

Speaker 4 (01:05:24):
Adam, you talked about the Chargers defense in their scheme,
it is really good, but they it's just they play
a total team brand of football, right, so everything is
you know, kind of it has it stems from that.

Speaker 3 (01:05:35):
Right.

Speaker 4 (01:05:35):
So offensively, we're going to run the ball, We're going
to be time and possession. We're going to get a
defensive break and so you don't have as many possessions
against them, So that makes it tough because you start
to press. But also defensively, the way they play, they
play with those two safeties deep a lot, and they
make you have to drive the length of the field
and give you and make you have a turnover or

(01:05:56):
not execute. And they're really good in the red zone.
So that's why they've been good. But do they have
enough to go on a Sunday night in Kansas City
to get this win?

Speaker 6 (01:06:07):
Be tough, It's tough. I just don't see how they're
gonna move the football.

Speaker 13 (01:06:10):
Then the passing game has been okay at times actually
very efficient and very good, but I just don't think
it's gonna be good overall. And the thing with Jesse
Mitcher's defense is because you're talking about the two high
safeties they play, those are the guys really well late snap,
right right after, right before the snap. They they mix
it up and he just does a great job. And
by the way, you know, it's a cool story. His dad,

(01:06:31):
Rick is on a staff. Dad Rick was the he
knows the hardballs because he used to be John was
on a staff in the University of Cincinnati.

Speaker 6 (01:06:39):
And it's a Rick.

Speaker 13 (01:06:40):
Rick's, you know, an older guy, but he's a senior
offensive assistant. It's a great story. And they're another one
that now I give the odds maker's credit. They gave
an eight and a half win total for the season
that they're over. They're gonna be over it at some point,
whether it's done or somewhere else. But they've been a
great story and of a league and we love it.

Speaker 6 (01:06:55):
That's so unpredictable.

Speaker 2 (01:06:56):
Adam Kaplan joining us here, Rams getting into the ends
on Matthew Stafford cup on a touchdown pass. There's an
injury timeout which is delayed the extra point. But it's
thirty seven to twenty one Rams on top of the
bills right now. Last one for me, Adam. And it's
got to do with a team that's playing right now,
Chicago Bears. Obviously they they cut bait with matt Eeberflus.
But my question is how appealing is this job now

(01:07:19):
with with the Kevin Warren fingerprints in U huh, in
a wasted year of Caleb Williams. How appealing is this
job to other head coaching candidates?

Speaker 13 (01:07:29):
All right, lots of unpack, but I'm give the Clifton version.
So let's start with Kevin Waarren. Kevin Warren, I reported
this last spring, would be heavily involved in football operations. Yes,
he doesn't make the personal decisions, but he's heavy and
heavily involved in every major decision. He kind of drove
the train to move on from bieber Flus, and the
GM was certainly on board Paul's as I'm told. But

(01:07:52):
you know overall, yes, any any coaching agent will know
that Warren who left the Big Ten, you know, to
leave that post. He didn't just leave to oversee uh
business operations for the Bears. He left because he was
involved with the Rams on football operations. He did contracts there.
He's actually an agent at one point. So I was
told by someone who knows him, he was known for

(01:08:14):
a well over decade that he's going to be heavily involved.

Speaker 1 (01:08:16):
He is.

Speaker 6 (01:08:17):
Now you got Kayleb Williams who now today.

Speaker 13 (01:08:19):
It's been a struggle, no question, but he's shown some
really good signs of improvement. They've got a great pass
target group. There's a lot of talent on this team
like that. I'll tell you the way I was complaining
to me before the season started that even with a
rookie quarterback, they expect to make the playoffs and eber
Fleus can not keep his job for them to make
the playoffs. And they're not going to in the NFC.
It's not gonna happen, but it's an appealing job. I

(01:08:40):
mean it's if you look at the Jets, I would
rather have the Bears job, to be honest with you,
because you've got an aging Uh forget about Rogers. You
got the issue with DeVante Adams and what's going to
happen with him. Offensive line clearly is not good enough.
You know, the Saints situation is not good enough. Will Oh, yeah,

(01:09:01):
I don't. I don't see it being a problem. I
like that job, to be honest with you.

Speaker 6 (01:09:04):
That that's see.

Speaker 13 (01:09:05):
I'm probably highering Caleb Williams than most. The problem that
Matty Matty Refluce doesn't know offense like a lot of
these Sins head coaches. When you're trying to teach that
Shane Waldermer came in with the West Coast offense. Williams
has never played within a timing based offense like this.
It's going to take time and he should have known that,
and it just it hasn't worked to that degree. Now again,

(01:09:27):
he's made prior to this game today, he'd made better
strides lately for sure. In fact, I know it was
a meltdown against Detroit late, but look at how he
brought the team back against Detroit.

Speaker 6 (01:09:35):
That's the story that people are not following.

Speaker 3 (01:09:37):
Yeah, Adam last month for me as well before you
got here. But who's going to win the NMC West?
Do tell me that?

Speaker 13 (01:09:42):
Right?

Speaker 6 (01:09:44):
Like the last two.

Speaker 13 (01:09:44):
Weeks and two reasons Dan knows as the Seahawks and
their defense has really come on, playing really good defense,
and Zach Charvonay really breakout game today, and they're just
the Cardinals flaws like they're a total smoke.

Speaker 6 (01:09:58):
Of mirror job. They're are so not talented Cardinals and
the coaching trump very good.

Speaker 3 (01:10:03):
I like it.

Speaker 13 (01:10:03):
Yeah, they've severely overachieved. Okay, they're my overachieved club. They're
like my then my top three. But Seattle's exposed them today.
Now I know that the Cardinals are trying to fight
back with eleven minutes left, they're still down by nine.
So I'm gonna stick with Seattle. That's just you know,
the Rams. I'm maybe the West Coast the time zone

(01:10:24):
screwed up the Bills here, but now I'm gonna stick
with the Seahawks.

Speaker 2 (01:10:28):
No, it's lucky to be on the line of Week
eight team into the Seahawks and Rams. Adam, we appreciate
the time. Yeah say you guys, talk to you next week.
He's carried oads. I'm Dan Beyer for an update on
all the scores and so much more. Let's go to
the news desk, Martin Weiss. It's Adam Martin.

Speaker 6 (01:10:40):
Adam cavlan just said it. The Cardinals with the ball.

Speaker 9 (01:10:43):
They are down twenty seven to eighteen, ten forty five
left in the fourth quarter. Geno Smith's having a pretty
good game so far. Twenty one for twenty seven, two
hundred yards passing and a touchdown. Zach Charbone with one
hundred and sixteen on the ground, two touchdowns, a long
run of fifty one. Kyler Murray had a touchdown passing
the first quarter, then through two interceptions to close out
the first half. He just threw an interception, I mean

(01:11:05):
a touchdown here. Seventeen for twenty six, one seventy four
through the air. James Connor with a sixty yards rushing
and a receiving touchdown. He caught that shovel pass that
the Cardinals just threw. The Bills and the Rams Los
Angeles with a thirty eight to twenty one lead over
Buffalo with eighteen seconds left in the third quarter. Josh
Allen with two touchdown passes and a nifty run up

(01:11:27):
the sideline just now, but Buffalo only rushing for thirty
six yards so far through three quarters one hundred and twenty.
In comparison, for the Rams, there Matthew Stafford having one
of his best games of the year thirty seventeen for
twenty three two forty six through the air and the
touchdown pass so far again, Blake Krum getting rushing yards
thirty four and Pukin Nakula with the rushing touchdown the.

Speaker 6 (01:11:50):
Bears in the forty nine ers.

Speaker 9 (01:11:51):
It was slow for the Bears early offensively, and I
mean this is a market improvement when I say that
Kayleb Williams is now fourteen for nineteen for fifty eight
yards passing met and forty three yards rushing.

Speaker 6 (01:12:04):
Deandros Swift have thirty five of them.

Speaker 9 (01:12:06):
They had what three yards going into the start of
the third quarter. Brock Purdy has two touchdown passes three
to ten through the year for him eighteen for twenty two.

Speaker 6 (01:12:14):
Isaac Garndo running back number one.

Speaker 9 (01:12:18):
Really, as Dan Byer said earlier today, started the season
as running back number four as forty nine Ers down
to the bottom of the running back room. He's got
thirteen carries, sixty seven yards and two touchdowns. Earlier today
in the NFL, we saw the Raiders, I mean, the
Buccaneers beat the Raiders twenty eight to thirteen. Buccaneers now
in first place in the NFC South. Brock Bowers broke

(01:12:40):
the rookie tight end reception record. He's got eighty seven.
Aiden O'Connell was carted off in this game, head coach
Antonio Pierce saying, not looking good. It's a knee injury.
Desmond Ritter finished the game out. First place. Steelers stay
that way, beating the Browns twenty seven to fourteen. Russell
Wilson with two touchdown passes. Eagles held on to beat
the Panthers twenty two to sixteen. I know Adam Kaplan

(01:13:02):
was talking about Jalen Hurts. He threw for two touchdown passes,
but less than one hundred and fifty yards passing for him.
He ran for one as well. Saquon Barkley two records
today set in the Eagles franchise rushing record passing Lashawn McCoy.
He also has nine games with over one hundred yards rushing,
which is an Eagles record. Graham Gano had a potential
game time field goal blocked as the Saints beat the

(01:13:24):
Giants fourteen to eleven. Vikings beat the Falcons forty two
to twenty one. Sam Darnold with five touchdown passes, Kirk
Cousins with two interceptions, and what was a homecoming and overtime.
The Dolphins beat the Jets thirty two to twenty six.
Devon a Chan and Tyreek Kill both had touchdowns. Aaron
Rodgers had three hundred darge passing for the first time
in thirty four straight starts, but the Jets eliminated for

(01:13:45):
playoff contention for the fourteenth season in a row, the
longest active drought in North American professional sports. Speaking of playoffs,
the college football playoff is set Oregon, Georgia, Boise State,
and Arison. The state your top four seeds. They'll all
have first round here the first round natchup. Fifth seeded
Texas is hosting twelve seeded Clemson. The winner of that
game plays Arizona State in the Fiesta Bowl. Eighth seeded

(01:14:08):
Ohio State hosts ninth seeded Tennessee winner that plays Oregon
in the Rose Bowl. Six seeded Penn State hosts eleven
seed SMU winner plays Boise State in the Peach Bowl,
and seventh seed Notre Dame plays host to ten seed
Indiana the winner that plays Georgia in the Sugar Bowl.

Speaker 6 (01:14:26):
Danny Carrey back to you, guys.

Speaker 3 (01:14:27):
Martin and Dan.

Speaker 4 (01:14:29):
Where did San Francisco running back number one Isaac Grindall
go to school Nevada?

Speaker 3 (01:14:36):
You spent some time at Wisconsin. Where did he end up? Louisville?

Speaker 6 (01:14:41):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (01:14:44):
I should have known.

Speaker 2 (01:14:45):
There you go, Harry Roads Trivia, The answer is always Louisville.

Speaker 5 (01:14:49):
Exactly, all right, Harry Roads.

Speaker 2 (01:14:53):
I've Dan Fyer thanks to Martin Wise, who you can
find on multiple social media platforms like and a Blue Sky,
unlike Carrie Rhodes, who's just staying X only. You can
find me on Blue Sky as well. Ryan Berschinger's on
Blue Sky, Chris Purfetts on Blue Sky. Mary Mack are
you on Blue Sky?

Speaker 6 (01:15:12):
Blue Sky?

Speaker 10 (01:15:13):
No?

Speaker 2 (01:15:13):
There, look at her and Kerry Rhodes in the locksty
Blue Guy oh Man thirty one to six, twenty seven
to eighteen, in thirty eight to twenty one. That's what
we've gotten this late window. This game in Arizona's not over.

Speaker 3 (01:15:27):
It's not over.

Speaker 2 (01:15:27):
Cardinals have got it down to the Seahawks twenty five
yard line with eight minutes to go. Both teams have
their full complement of timeouts, so even if Arizona's unable
to get into the end zone here, a field goal
attempt will make it a one score game. The Seahawks
offense is going to have to do something. Josh Allen
on the Bills trying to do something right now is
Allen has hit Khalil Shakir down to about the one

(01:15:49):
yard line, so it'll be a first in goal scenario.
Josh Allen's gonna have one of those fantasy days fell
when you're down seventeen in the fourth quarter and he's
already got two hundred and sixty seven yards and three
total touchdowns.

Speaker 3 (01:16:02):
Yeah, it's gonna be up there. That though right there
was crazy too.

Speaker 2 (01:16:05):
Yeah, they're gonna need They're gonna need more of it
as well. Something that we'll watch in this late window.
He's carry roads. I'm Dan Byer. I look at more
fantasy numbers next here on Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (01:16:15):
Don't listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.

Speaker 2 (01:16:18):
Fox Sports Red Zone radio. He's carry roads. I'm Dan Byer.
This is what we've got here. In the late window.
The Seahawks were able to converted third and two. They
continue to hold on to the football. They're up in
Arizona by nine twenty seven to eighteen, five point thirty
five left to go. We told you a little bit
ago Arizona had all their ten outs.

Speaker 3 (01:16:36):
They have no more.

Speaker 2 (01:16:37):
They had to use them all here knowing they're gonna
have to score twice, unable to get the Seahawks offense
off the field. So now Seattle in Arizona territory up nine,
looking to use some more clock as well.

Speaker 3 (01:16:50):
In that two possession game.

Speaker 4 (01:16:51):
Sorry, d I text Monsei and I was like, did
you make him kick? Miss that kick to the left.
He's like no, because I got the over in this game,
so I needed the three points.

Speaker 2 (01:17:00):
That's where we are, Gambler that Moncy Belanos. Martin Weiss
in for Monci today at the news desk doing a
bang up job saw Saints Pete the Giants today. My
Seahawks are beating Carrie's Cardinals right now, and everybody beats
Carrie's Jets. Here we go the forty nine ers lead
the Bears thirty one to thirteen early in the fourth
quarter in that one, while in La we could have

(01:17:20):
a dandy Bills and Rams. Right now, it's a ten
point game, Rams up thirty eight to twenty eight. There's
a lot of time left in the fourth quarter, and
Puka Nakua just went to the sideline sitting on the
bench for the Rams.

Speaker 3 (01:17:32):
Wasn't helped off.

Speaker 2 (01:17:33):
But Puka has been nursing injuries throughout this season, but
in and out of the lineup and now came up
a little lame and so he's sitting on the bench.
Will try to give you an update on him. For
an update on fantasy numbers, carry Roads, we got to
go to the one and only Ryan Bersham's all right, burst,

(01:17:54):
what do you got live from the Tyrek dot com studios.

Speaker 5 (01:17:56):
Let's focus in on these three games here. A lot
of significant fantasy p is in these three games, and
a lot of them are doing really well. Let's start
off with this Rams Bills game. A couple hits here
on the Bill's side. Josh Allen fifteen to twenty five,
two hundred sixty seven yards, two touchdowns through the air,
five carries thirty nine yards and two touchdowns on the ground.
Khalil Shakira big beneficiarrea of his day. Five catches one

(01:18:18):
hundred and six yards in a touchdown for Khalil Shakir.
On the Rams side for some hits here, Kyrien Williams
twenty two carries, sixty eight yards, two touchdowns on the
ground and a catch for four yards. Pukaakua, as you
just mentioned, is having a great day ten catches one
hundred and twenty four yards. Cooper Cup also five catches
ninety two yards and a touchdown, but a miss from
this game. Not much going for the Bills on the

(01:18:38):
ground otherwise Josh Allen's they're leading rusher so James Cook
only five carries for seventeen yards in this game. Nothing
on the receiving side. Let's look at these Seahawks and Cardinals.
A big hit in this game has been Zach Sharbonet
stepping in for the injured Kenneth Walker. Eighteen carries, one
hundred and sixteen yards and two touchdowns on the ground.
Also seven catches for fifty nine yards for Sharps. In

(01:19:01):
terms of let's go to the Cardinal side, James Connor
is a hit as well. Seventeen carries seventy four yards
on the ground and three carries twenty one yards and
a touchdown through the air. A couple of misses in
this game, though. Back on the Seahawks side, DK metcalf
right now, four catches for forty nine yards on six targets.
Not too much going for DK. And on the Cardinals side,

(01:19:23):
Marvin Harrison Junior are only three catches for thirty four
yards on six targets. And lastly, let's look at this
Bears Niners matchup. A lot of hits on the Niner side,
especially Isaac Garrendo, as we've mentioned a couple times today. Yeah,
I'm very happy about it as well. Fourteen carries seventy
two yards and two touchdowns on the ground, two catches
for fifty yards through the air, George Kittle having a

(01:19:45):
huge day six catches one hundred and fifty one yards
on six targets, and Juwan Jennings also six catches seventy
nine yards and two touchdowns through the air. But a
miss for the Niners is Deebo Samuel two catches twenty
two yards on three targets for Deebo, three carries for
negative three yards and on the bear side. Well, Roma
Duonsay is a hit. Four catches for forty two yards

(01:20:07):
and two touchdowns for Rome, but DeAndre Swift is a
miss here. Fourteen carries for thirty eight yards on the ground,
one catch for two yards through the air, And those
are your fantasy hads and misses from these three games.

Speaker 2 (01:20:16):
During that segment, Brock Party was knocked out of the game.
Not literally, he was just taken out and then his
come back in after a couple of snaps, but he
took a high hit from Darryl Taylor and was bent backwards.
Brandon Allen had to come in. But Party is now
back in the ballgame in a thirty one to thirteen
San Francisco lead.

Speaker 3 (01:20:36):
As we told you so.

Speaker 2 (01:20:37):
It could have been much worse for the forty nine
ers quarterback, but also kept the drive alive for San
Francisco because of the fifteen yard penalty. With a hit
on Party, looked it was more of the head than
maybe like a knee or anything as he was bent backwards.

Speaker 4 (01:20:51):
Yeah, he got lucky that defeat didn't get caught up
underneath him, but yeah, it was still an ugly, ugly
play and thank god he's healthy.

Speaker 2 (01:20:59):
Right now, Bills are down ten. They started the driving sether'
on ten yard line. They've got it out to at
least the twenty six yard line. Eleven minutes to go.
We told you that's a ten point game, while the
Seahawks continue to work clock now a fresh set of
downs at the Arizona twenty yard line. Arizona no more
timeouts are up twenty seven to eighteen three, twenty seven
left to go, and Josh Allen has just broken a
big run to midfield. So Buffalo setting up again. It's

(01:21:24):
going to be a wild ride the rest of the way.
It is in La, He's carry roads. I'm Dan Bayer.
Coming up next the conclusion of what happens in La
and more about tonight's affair between the Chiefs and Charges.

Speaker 3 (01:21:35):
Next on Fox.

Speaker 1 (01:21:37):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.

Speaker 2 (01:21:40):
Welcome in, and we got a dandy in La as
Josh Allen and the Bills have just made it a
three point game. Welcome in as we are broadcasting live
from the tierrec dot Com studios. Tierrach dot Cow will
help you get there at unmeatt selection, fast free shipping,
free road as a protection and over ten thousand recommended
installers tirec dot com the way tire buying should be.

(01:22:00):
The Rams are trying to rally the troops on the
sidelines and they're winning. They're winning in this game thirty
eight to thirty five. The fireworks said, so far, eight
forty nine still have to go in this one. I
don't know if it'll rival that Rams Chiefs game that
they played at the Coliseum like six years ago. They
just kept on overplaying because it was fifty four to
fifty one or whatever it was. But we've got some

(01:22:23):
excitement here with the Bills and Rams. Not much excitement
unless you're a Niners fan watching them pummel the Bears.

Speaker 3 (01:22:29):
Today. It's thirty one to thirteen, as Martin told you.

Speaker 2 (01:22:31):
And as for the Seahawks and Cardinals, very little hope
left for Arizona. But there at least still is a
little bit of hope they've just gotten in the Seattle territory.
They're down twelve though in this game they have no
more timeouts and now they're under the one minute mark
as time is ticking, as Arizona will have at first
in ten at the Seahawks thirty five yard line.

Speaker 4 (01:22:50):
Yeah, we talk about MVP type of games. If the
Bills can come back and pull this enough with Josh
Allen numbers right now, he is twenty one to thirty two,
three hundred and eighteen yards, three passing touchdowns and two
Russian touchdowns.

Speaker 3 (01:23:05):
That's a good day. He's the favorite right now.

Speaker 2 (01:23:07):
I believe in a lot of places for the Most
Valuable Player award.

Speaker 3 (01:23:12):
Yeah, this would this would help.

Speaker 2 (01:23:15):
They don't have Dalton Kin Kaid or Kean Coleman, and
so he's doing this with you know, Khalil Shakira, a
guy who he trusts. Amari Cooper new One hit Ty
Johnson for a long touchdown run. So the Bills are
putting this together. This is a must game for the Rams.
We had Adam kaplan on thirty forty minutes ago, and
we've talked. We started the show talking about your Rams

(01:23:37):
as well. Yeah, they're in the thick of it of
the of the NFC West, and so this is a
game at one point that we thought the Rams were
gonna have in their back pocket and now it's anything.

Speaker 4 (01:23:46):
But yeah, they got to get this one. They cannot
lose this one. I mean, even just from a momentum
standpoint in general, confidence builder. The way they came out,
they thought it, well, we figured that, you know, Buffalo
will be a little slow in this game, but you
gotta finish these games if you want to make the playoffs,
for sure. So this is where we are. What was
the set line on Josh Allen again?

Speaker 3 (01:24:07):
Who let me tell you again? Yeah?

Speaker 4 (01:24:08):
Twenty one of thirty two, three hundred and eighteen passing yards,
three touchdowns, seven rushes for seventy one yards, and two touchdowns.

Speaker 2 (01:24:16):
It's a it's a pretty complete day. Yes, And by
the way, the Rams, no, they have to score again. Yes,
So it's not like they're sitting on anything. And they've
got the ball now in Buffalo territory at the Buffalo
forty six yard line. You do want to utilize some clock,
but you can't just put it in neutral and hope
that things go all right with just that three point lead.

(01:24:38):
As for Arizona and Seattle, the clock is ticking down
down the sixteen seconds left. There's a flag on the field.
Arizona's got it down to about the Seahawks thirteen yard line,
but it likely will be too little, too late. A
Seattle looks to go seven and five. Arizona six and six.
And what's interesting is because of the NFC playoff race

(01:25:00):
with the Lions and Eagles leading their divisions. Even though
Minnesota and Green Bay have better records and Commanders are
sitting there at eight and five, they'll match like the
Seattle at eight and five. But because the division winners
in those first round games and those buys, you're gonna
have some interesting matchups. Seattle right now is the third
seed in the NFC, so it's not even the because

(01:25:23):
the Afs, excuse me, the NFC South leader, which is
right now Tampa Bay would be the fourth seed, which,
by the way, by the way, is one of my
gripes with the NFL playoffs, and it's a gripe that
has happened many many times prior. Forty nine ers into
the end zone again, by the way, we'll get you

(01:25:43):
the details on that. I think Patrick Taylor, patrick Taylor Junior,
because Isaac Crendo ran the ball so much he was
walking into the locker room as they were up a
thirteen to three yard touchdown run, his first touchdown since
twenty twenty one. Oh so the forty nine ers adding
to it, the Ams facing a third down and nine
unable to convert. But there's some laundry on the field

(01:26:06):
carrier roads. There's a penalty flag and we may have
pass interference or illegal contact on Buffalo to give the
Rams a first down, grabbing them by the hips. And
this is from a this is from a former safety.

Speaker 3 (01:26:21):
Yeah, yeah, that was blatant.

Speaker 2 (01:26:23):
And so now it's five fifty to go thirty eight
thirty five. Rams can't feel safe with a field goal here,
but again they want to use some of that time.
Clock is ticking. I don't think anything is at place.
Seahawks and Cardinals have hit the over. Yeah, thirty to eighteen.
Cardinals were favored, so there's nothing really on the line
with eight seconds left except some fantasy numbers. Cardinals do

(01:26:47):
have it at the seven yard line. And you got
to text from Manzi with the over. Why would she
why would she text me? You know, no you're the Cardinals'
ye no, I totally carry. I totally get it. Yeah,
totally get it. Man I'll tell you what She's just.
You know, I don't know how you know. You guys

(01:27:08):
played that game and she won because they get to
know dan Byer game. It's over in Arizona Seahawks beat
the Cardinals thirty to eighteen. I do appreciate Manzi because
he said where my jersey, and she's like, no, I'm
not going to my friends a Seahawks fan. We appreciate that.
But Seahawks get the win, so they are now eight
and five. Arizona falls to six and seven. There's a

(01:27:31):
little hope for the six and then six and seven
group with the wild card, but not much because Washington's
the only team right now sitting there at that eight
and five spot, So you're gonna have to hope for
the Commanders to falter to get back in. Otherwise, the
division leaders are right now, at least for the NFC West,
with Seattle at eight and five a little bit further
out of reach. Here's my problem with the playoffs, because

(01:27:52):
a lot's going on right now. I have no problem.
I do have a problem with it, but I can
get over it. Where the the NFL is saying division winners,
you should get something for winning your division. I think
what you should get for winning your division is an
automatic playoff berth.

Speaker 3 (01:28:08):
I think that is sufficient.

Speaker 2 (01:28:10):
I don't think you need a first round home game.
I don't think that that is not when you're playing
seventeen games a year and there's only six games against
teams within your division, there are eleven other games that
you play that I know that there's common opponents, and
this division plays and they try to make it as fair,
but it just doesn't work out that way. I don't

(01:28:33):
mind if you say this team automatic bid into the playoffs.
I don't think they should get a home game. But
even if you said first round home game, my problem
carries actually what happens after in how things could play out,
in terms of allowing say, let's just say Tampa ends
up having a nice run in these playoffs and pull

(01:28:56):
a couple of upsets, they win their four to five game,
and then they win their next game, and you end
up with a matchup where you're playing the sixth or
seventh seed in the playoffs. In that scenario, the Tampa team,
who even though they won their division or because they
won their division, would have home field over you.

Speaker 3 (01:29:16):
Like I don't think it's fair.

Speaker 2 (01:29:18):
That Minnesota right now at eleven and two is in
a spot where they're not gonna have any chance of
hosting a playoff game unless there's pure chaos in the
bracket or if they somehow overtake Detroit, Like, I think
that the wild card team, if you have the better
record after the first round, however the bracket would play out,

(01:29:40):
you should be able to host a playoff game. I
think it's too severe of a penalty and too much
of a reward for a team that maybe doesn't deserve it,
because you get not only you get the first round
home game if you win your division, but if you
have the worst record of your division winners in the NFL,
you still get that four seed by you and that

(01:30:02):
trump's a five seed to six seed or a seventh
seed later down if it would happen. And you know,
the Cardinals when they ended up going to the Super Bowl,
ended up you know, playing an Eagles team that was
a wild card team and ended up hosting it.

Speaker 3 (01:30:14):
You don't always get that sort of matchup.

Speaker 2 (01:30:16):
But I just think that in today's day and age,
when we've had teams going late runs at the end
of the season, that they at least should be able
to host a wild card or host a playoff game
after the first round if you have the better record.

Speaker 3 (01:30:28):
Yeah, I agree with you.

Speaker 4 (01:30:29):
I think in the in the current format, the way
that it is it's saying the body of work doesn't matter, right,
and so the body of work does matter, and if
you if you got if you have the better record,
you should be able to hold.

Speaker 3 (01:30:41):
I agree with you. That's just it's common sense.

Speaker 2 (01:30:43):
Yeah, third and seven in LA the Rams unable to
convert as they are in Buffalo territory.

Speaker 3 (01:30:51):
Matthew Stafford is not happy.

Speaker 2 (01:30:53):
There's a flag on the play four forty left to go,
and Sean McVay, I think just pointed that it's on
buff It's excuse me, it looks like it's on the Rams.

Speaker 9 (01:31:05):
So Martin Weiss, Yeah, I just had a question. Yeah,
that's for the second round of the playoffs that you're talking. Yeah, right, correct, Okay,
because you wouldn't be referencing at any moment a time
in which a seven and nine Seattle team hosted an
eleven and five New Orleans Saints team listen that was
fresh off of Super Bowl win.

Speaker 3 (01:31:24):
I am very very well aware.

Speaker 2 (01:31:26):
I I didn't even I didn't even want to win
the season finale, and then they dropped ten spots in
the draft, and then everybody loves the Beast quick game,
and I'm like, yeah, then they fell even further and
lost to the Bears next week. I think that that
was absurd. I think it's I think it's I think
it's crazy.

Speaker 9 (01:31:42):
It's ridiculous because that I got to your point when
this was the moment where I was radicalized, this moment
where I was like, oh, we have to change this.

Speaker 6 (01:31:50):
This isn't right.

Speaker 2 (01:31:51):
It's not it's it's it's absurd. But the NFL owners
have said to themselves, no, this makes sense. This is
a reward, this is this is to take care of you.
You know, this is to take care of your division winner.
And there's an accomplishment in that.

Speaker 3 (01:32:07):
That's fine.

Speaker 2 (01:32:07):
I think the accomplishment should only be, to Martin's point,
getting in the playoffs the Seahawks that year and what
was it, twenty eleven, end up, they should have just
gotten into the playoffs. They shouldn't have had been able
to host the home playoff game. So I'm willing to
say it with my own team now, if if I
have to give up something else, say they can do
it for the first round. But I just think it's

(01:32:28):
I think it's pretty demoralizing for a Minnesota team to
have the season that they're gonna have, and and I
know they know they're likely going to have to go
on the road in this, you know, in the second round,
depending how things were. But if the bracket went a
certain way, they could you know, to not have a
home game is too bad, but it it's crazy.

Speaker 4 (01:32:45):
I have fourth and five, the Rams are going forward
instead of kicking the field goal here, and they got
a big complice and that was huge, Wow, huge, butting
Rams there, Well, that was gutsy.

Speaker 2 (01:32:54):
Okay, this is so And to even backtrack to your point, now,
Buffalo's got all three timeouts, there's three thirty seven left
to go. They had it fourth and five at the
thirty five yard line. They'll play prior that third and
seven where we told you laundry was on the field,
they took the penalty. The Bills took the penalty, a
holding penalty, making it a third and seventeen. So what

(01:33:16):
the Rams did? They just dumped it off to Kolby
Parkinson who got twelve yards while I was ranting about
playoff in home field advantage. And then the Rams got
the fourth and five. As you just said, you know
who made that catch to two at Well.

Speaker 3 (01:33:28):
Where did he go to school?

Speaker 6 (01:33:29):
A little bit?

Speaker 3 (01:33:30):
Yeah, in the building.

Speaker 2 (01:33:34):
Easy, he's dropping the mic and the bomb ontomn. This
a huge move for the Rams. Their field goal kicking
has not been great this season. Like he was, he
was moving a little early there took the Buffalo's defense
not being able to get off the field. And in
this scenario now two forty four and going, Buffalo still

(01:33:55):
has not used any of their timeouts.

Speaker 4 (01:33:57):
Yeah, they're trying to save it here. I mean I
would have used their here personally to stop the clock
because it's second down. I probably would have stopped there.
They probably wait after this play the call to call
a time out. If they can get a stop here,
I think its wait till they'll call it.

Speaker 3 (01:34:13):
Here.

Speaker 2 (01:34:13):
They should down to the nineteen yard line, so it'll
be third down and five, and they don't they And
I think the thinking is is they're only going to
save twenty eight seconds, whereas if they the Rams do
get a first down on the other side, they'd be
able to run down forty seconds off the clock. But
the Rams aren't going to run a play here, so

(01:34:35):
the Bills shouldn't even worry about jumping off sides.

Speaker 3 (01:34:37):
I wouldn't even line up.

Speaker 2 (01:34:38):
It's a two minute warning, so it's going to be
a third and five for the Rams on the Bill's
nineteen yard line. Buffalo is all three of their timeouts,
they're not the two minute warning. If the Rams convert
here in this scenario, then it's a first and ten,
depending on where they get the football. If it's a

(01:34:59):
if I'll tell you, I know you play the game, Carrie,
would you be able to understand if you're a defender,
to not tackle the player right away? My point in
thinking is if it's a goal to goal situation, that
benefits Buffalo because if you get a first down here,
you call a timeout, you'd call time out at like

(01:35:22):
a minute fifty. You'd have two timeouts to be able
to call, and then you're going to have to kick
a field goal or go forward in that scenario where
Buffalo could maybe have about a minute or so left
on the.

Speaker 3 (01:35:32):
Clock before they'd have to get the ball back.

Speaker 2 (01:35:37):
If the Rams are like at the twelve yard line
getting the first down, are you smart enough for the
Bills to let them run a little bit more?

Speaker 3 (01:35:44):
Do you make the tackle? Are you even thinking of that?

Speaker 6 (01:35:47):
No?

Speaker 2 (01:35:48):
Not like an offensive player who would slide knowing the
scenario and defense you just your instinct.

Speaker 4 (01:35:53):
It's instinct you're on the defensive right, So to actually
try to finest that situation, we're not that.

Speaker 3 (01:36:01):
You know what I'm saying. I don't want to.

Speaker 2 (01:36:03):
I don't want to be talking silly here, Ryan Berschinger,
You giving me a thought. You know what I'm talking
about here. You don't want to go the goal situation
because the Rams could conceivably end up running out the
clock if they got another first down after that point.

Speaker 3 (01:36:17):
I agree.

Speaker 4 (01:36:17):
I think the other question here as well, it's third
and five. If they don't get the first down, then
version here do they go for it again on fourth
down to try it up?

Speaker 3 (01:36:24):
I think they do.

Speaker 2 (01:36:26):
And it's a bit from what we saw a little
bit on Thursday with Dan Campbell's decision. But there's also
what has become more and more prevalent in the National
Football League is the the thought process of the pressure
of the team with the football having to is a

(01:36:46):
field goal good enough? Or do you need more? In
that scenario where if you just play for a tie,
if Buffalo's just playing for a tie, there may not
be as aggressive as opposed to win. They were down
four points, saying like being some teams would rather be
up three points with the opposing team having the ball

(01:37:08):
than up four points, because they feel that the opposing
team would happily settle for a field goal in that
scenario and then go to overtime, Yes, as opposed to
being aggressive and trying to score the touchdown, which ultimately
could lose you the football game. So to your point,
I think if they don't get it here on third
and five, I think they will definitely go forward on
fourth down.

Speaker 3 (01:37:28):
Yeah, I agree, I think they should.

Speaker 4 (01:37:30):
I mean, just from the way this game is and
uh and I hate what I hate this because we're
seeing two different I was just about to predict a
Pooka Nakua touchdown knowing that it just happened on a
different team.

Speaker 3 (01:37:41):
There you go.

Speaker 2 (01:37:45):
I like Puka Nakua in the right flat here with
a screen and then a jail break to the goal line.

Speaker 3 (01:37:51):
You would have blown my mind.

Speaker 2 (01:37:52):
Dan Carrie blew our minds with his fast time before
the show. We're going to bring that to your next segment.
Who can to He catches the ball in the flat,
rumbles the rest of the way into the end zone,
nineteen yard pass and catch Matthew Stafford to Nakua. So
now it's a two score game, forty four to thirty five,

(01:38:14):
and the extra point is blocked.

Speaker 3 (01:38:17):
Oh my goodness, and it is no good. I'm telling you.
The Rams have some issues and the kicker just slept.

Speaker 5 (01:38:26):
Is it Cardi?

Speaker 3 (01:38:27):
Still?

Speaker 2 (01:38:27):
Is Cardi still the Rams kicker? Joshua? I think it's
josh Cardy. But the anyway, the extra point is no good.
And so the Rams now up forty four to thirty five.
And here's the here's the other thing. So there's a
minute fifty four left. The Bill still have three timeouts.

(01:38:51):
So if you score here, either field goal or touchdown, yep,
you still could get a stop one way or another,
depending on how quickly you score.

Speaker 4 (01:39:02):
That's the thing a lot of times in those situations
as well as a defense. The conversation about allowing teams
to score is part of the equation here too. Now
I don't think that happened here from what I saw. Yeah,
but we've had discussions about that and it comes into
play sometimes.

Speaker 2 (01:39:20):
All right, So the Rams will kick it off up
nine now on Buffalo, forty four to thirty five or
a minute fifty four to go, and it's over in
Santa Clara Niners gonna win thirty eight to thirteen over Chicago.
San Francisco is six and seven, Bears fall to four
and nine. He is carry Rhoades. I'm Dan Beyer. Rapid

(01:40:01):
Allen and the offense taking over first and ten from
their own thirty yard line. Again they have all three timeouts,
but now facing a nine point deficit. It was one
of the biggest plays of Week fourteen in the National
Football League season. Carrie's gonna break it down in fast
times and why that play didn't have to be That's

Speaker 2 (01:40:34):
Ah, we got drama on Fox Sports Red Zone Radio,
Decisions Decisions East Carrie Roads, the Allpro, the starter from
day one, he won Buyer. It's week fourteen and the
Buffalo Bills are down nine. Like we've got drama in
a nine point game with a minute left, but we
expect the craziness to happen. The Bills are up or

(01:40:56):
down nine, but they got a pass interference call on
a fourth and fifteen from midfield that brought them all
the way down inside the red zone and now a
pass into the end zone to Amari Cooper has set
it up first in goal for the Bills at the
one yard line. The problem is is Buffalo can't call
a time out. They've got all three of them, but

(01:41:17):
if they truly want to win this game, they can't
call timeout. So anything they do is either going to
have to stop the clock or get into the end zone.
And they have just run a.

Speaker 5 (01:41:28):
And did not get in a sneak.

Speaker 2 (01:41:31):
And they've got it and Buffalo is just called this
is the So here's the scenario. It's forty four to
thirty five, a minute eight on the clock, first in
goal at the one and the Bills try to do
a push push, But the problem with that is now
you have taken away your advantage because you had to

(01:41:52):
call time out because you ran a play. So now
what happens is, even if the Bills score here, you
kick it away to the Rams on an on side kick,
and if you don't get it, the Rams can automatically
take forty seconds off the clock.

Speaker 5 (01:42:07):
Yes, it was a bad, bad play called by Buffalo.

Speaker 2 (01:42:10):
In fact, Carrie, on the fourth down pass interference play,
we were talking during the break the Bills should have
kicked the field goal at that time and not let
this additional time run off, and it would have been
a six point game. Now Josh Allen has just gotten
into the end zone on a quarterback sneak, but this
doesn't help them in terms of really winning the game.

(01:42:34):
And now we've got flags everywhere. So it's forty four
to forty one, and I think there's gonna be personal
foul calls for unsportsmanlike conduct. But Buffalo really did themselves
in by calling that timeout and running that play.

Speaker 3 (01:42:52):
That was the thing that the.

Speaker 2 (01:42:54):
First and goal. The pass interference in the end zone
seems great, but if you're gonna run that play, you
have to be sure you're going to get into the
end zone. And they actually ran it from a bit
of a pistol formation, not just Josh Allen under center,
and he was unable to get into the end zone
on the first try, which forced them to use their
time out, and now basically their advantage is gone.

Speaker 4 (01:43:16):
Yeah, I mean, you cannot run the ball there in
that situation unless you know you're going to get in.
I'm sure they thought they were going to get in.
So it looks bad as we're watching it right now,
but obviously that's same playwork the next play. So it's
just like doesn't work. But you cannot put yourself in
a situation to call that time out.

Speaker 3 (01:43:34):
Now you got to.

Speaker 4 (01:43:35):
Now you take away the possibility of kicking the ball
deep and getting the ball in actually some good field
position right now, you just got to hope that you
can kick it off side kick and get it.

Speaker 3 (01:43:45):
So that's where we are now.

Speaker 2 (01:43:46):
Josh Allen looks a little bit exasperated, knowing on what
they were trying to go for. Yeah, now this extra
point would make it a two point game, but it's
going to be backed up because of the personal I'll
call on Buffalo is on Dion Dawkins, and so the
Bills will have to kick a forty eight yard extra

(01:44:07):
point to make it a three point game. Still not
the worst thing to happen here, as the kick is good.
So it's forty four to forty two, go ahead.

Speaker 4 (01:44:16):
And in other words, right now, Josh Allen has six touchdowns.
He has six more than Kirk Cousins in the last
four games. Sorry, sorry, Kirk, Sorry, I just that's cold.

Speaker 3 (01:44:25):
I know, I'm sorry.

Speaker 2 (01:44:25):
First player ever in the NFL regular season with three
passing touchdowns and three rushing touchdowns in one game.

Speaker 3 (01:44:32):
Wow. Crazy, And it's going to help my five.

Speaker 2 (01:44:35):
And eight fantasy team so much, my five and eight
fantasy squad.

Speaker 3 (01:44:41):
Damn.

Speaker 4 (01:44:41):
I want you to look up so I know you're
the the you're the you're the information guy.

Speaker 5 (01:44:46):
Has anybody had six touchdowns in the game and that
team lost.

Speaker 3 (01:44:52):
I don't think.

Speaker 4 (01:44:54):
I don't know, I don't know, I don't know. I
would hope not unless I was fifty eight to forty two.
But this, this could be, this could be. Yeah, that
that case right here.

Speaker 3 (01:45:03):
You'd have a part.

Speaker 2 (01:45:04):
And in the six touchdowns I'm sure at some point
like somebody through five touchdowns and ran one. I thought
you met like actual like six receiving touchdowns, Ryan Burst,
do you have the do you have the stats?

Speaker 3 (01:45:14):
Right?

Speaker 5 (01:45:14):
Did you remember? I believe this is the Chiefs Rams
game in Mexico City, that one that was at the
LA Coliseum at the class That's right. Mahomes threw six
touchdowns and lost Eli Manning, Carson Palmer, Dan Marino, and
Charlie Johnson along with touchdowns and losses.

Speaker 3 (01:45:31):
Wow, that's wow.

Speaker 2 (01:45:34):
Usually when you're throwing for five hundred yards as well,
like you look at the list of five hundred yards
for jamis this past Monday, close to that mark, they're
usually losing. Yeah, losing of the football game. So this
is what's gonna happen. We're gonna get an onside kick here.
Then we're gonna end up seeing what the results are
and if the Bills recover the onside kick, and they don't,

(01:45:55):
as Carrie says, the Rams have got it all right.
So now the Rams basically have to take three knees.
There's gonna be about fifteen seconds left on the clock.
But Buffalo probably should have kicked the field goal. They
probably didn't need Josh Allen to get that touchdown run.
If they really wanted to extend this game and using
that timeout on the first and goal carried, they should
have just thrown four passes into the end zone or

(01:46:17):
just kicked the short field goal. At that point, them
using the timeout sealed their fate. All right, let's head
over to the news desk for one final time. I'll
tell you what, Martin. Just give us scores because we
got to get to Carry's fast time segment as most
of the action now is done for Week fourteen, guy.

Speaker 6 (01:46:35):
I cap'n right.

Speaker 9 (01:46:36):
The Rams forty four bills forty two, one minute left
in the game. There, but the guys have broken that
one down. The Seahawks beat the Cardinals thirty to eighteen,
forty nine, Ers beat the Bears thirty eight to thirteen.
Buccaneers over Raiders twenty eight to thirteen, seat Steelers beat
the Browns twenty seven to fourteen. Eagles barely hang on,
beat the Panthers twenty two to sixteen. Saints beat the

(01:46:58):
Giants fourteen to eleven, Vikings over Falcons forty two to
twenty one, Dolphins over Jets and overtime thirty two to
twenty six, and the Jaguars beat the Titans ten to six.

Speaker 2 (01:47:11):
Back to you, guys, Martin, You've had a long day,
appreciate the work. Great having you in, Thanks man. Congrats
on the Saints. Oh yeah, he is Carry Roads.

Speaker 3 (01:47:22):
I'm dan Byer again.

Speaker 2 (01:47:22):
You can find Martin on X and on Blue Sky
at Martin Weiss. You can find me on X at
dan Byer on Fox and I'm Blue Sky at dan Byer,
find Kerry at Carry twenty five Roads. All right, Bills,
Rams not destined for overtime. It was a different situation
in South Florida where the Jets and Dolphins did go
to overtime. And it's now time four. All right, let's

(01:47:50):
set the scene. Carry in overtime, just over six minutes left.
The Bills have the football. Excuse me, the Dolphins have
the football. Second down and seven hide with the Jets
in overtime at twenty six a piece.

Speaker 3 (01:48:04):
Here's how it sounded.

Speaker 14 (01:48:06):
Six twenty six to a tango violo, Otto's Shotka back
to troll with protection.

Speaker 13 (01:48:11):
Trows the enzone touchdown Dolphins with john Who's Smith?

Speaker 3 (01:48:16):
Why they catch it?

Speaker 6 (01:48:17):
Throw Johnny Smith to it? You want to throw?

Speaker 2 (01:48:22):
By Tua Fox Sports nine Dolphins Radio network with the call.

Speaker 4 (01:48:26):
How did Tua and Smith get it done? Kerry Well,
Miami getting some one of their favorite formasons. They love
to do bunch with a reduced split by the X receiver.
They getting that for Mason it's second, it's second, second
and seven, so you know it's a it's a man
beater concept. They like to run the mess route down there.
They run the mess route. They get Jon Wus Smith
across the field. He beats the Jets in the end

(01:48:47):
zone for a big touchdown. But that play should have
been shut down by the Jets. I mean in the
covers they were in. They look they were playing a
bracket coverage and with that reduced split the bunch for Mason,
you make a bracket, you make a box call in
every route that you run out of that situation should
be taken care of. You look at the reduced split
was big here for Miami. With the communication by the defense,

(01:49:08):
if you make the communication there, you have an extra
defender to possibly pick that pass off. But the Jets
do a terrible job of communicating what they've done all year.
They allow Miami to sneak back there and John Neu
Smith get a little cushion to make the big play
for the touchdown for Miami. Big play and overtime to
keep Miami in the hunt. They're still in the playoff
hunt with a big win in Miami against the Jets.

Speaker 3 (01:49:29):
Here's the crazy thing about this play.

Speaker 2 (01:49:30):
So Dolin's on up trips basically to the right and
then Odell Beckham Junior split to the left. Right on
the condensed split is Odell Beckham Junior. And this is
where Carrie Rhoades teaches Dan Byer stuff about football. Of
the eleven Jets defenders, the player who was at fault
would have been my eleventh choice of who's at fault
on the field because it was actually the corner opposite

(01:49:53):
the trips to the right. It was DJ Reed's duty
to drop back in the coverage once Odell Beckham Junior
ran his slant route, knowing that he would hand it
off to the safety yes who was coming up. And
DJ Reid was the one who was supposed to drop
back and guard Johnnus Smith on the crossing route.

Speaker 3 (01:50:12):
And I do want to.

Speaker 4 (01:50:12):
Give Miami credit here here because that position you're talking
about right there with Odell and the route that he ran,
the normal lazy approach to that route would just be
a slant and you run the slant.

Speaker 3 (01:50:23):
That's it.

Speaker 4 (01:50:24):
But game plan specifics here with the slant and him
willing back out just a little bit to the out,
it takes the safety in the corner. They have to
communicate that, and if they don't communicate it, both guys
are going to stick with it. And that's what happened there.
It ate the extra defender, which would have been DJ
Reid for the interception. Big play, Miami tame down.

Speaker 2 (01:50:44):
DJ Reid's reaction in the end zone was all you
needed to know is he knew that he was the
one responsible carry. You would have given me eight tries
at picking a Jets defender, Yeah, you would have ran
of who was that fault? It happens, I get it.
I'm not trying to Kyle on on on Reed, but Toyo, Yeah,

(01:51:06):
it happens, and it was his responsibility and he knew it.
There it is it Dolphins time with Carrie Rose. Overtime
win on fast Times and it's a win for the Rams. Yes,
they win forty two and the Bills. This happened earlier
in the year with the Browns and Raiders playing a game.

(01:51:28):
For as great as Buffalo is and everything that Josh
Allen did today, the reason you kept those three timeouts
was when you got the ball back, you wanted to
use them to get a stop. Now, there was no
guarantee that they would get the stop right right, But
we also just saw their kicker make a forty eight
yard extra point. So perhaps Buffalo should have kicked the

(01:51:50):
field goal earlier. They should not have called a run
play from the one yard line. And I know your
point is they got it on the second play. Maybe
they got a half yard on the first carry, but
that half yard cost them time out and essentially cost
them the game because the game ended with the Rams
snapping in on fourth down and punting it and time

(01:52:11):
expired as the ball was entering the end zone on
the punt.

Speaker 4 (01:52:14):
You can't, you can't do it. I mean you know that,
we all know that you can. You cannot run it
there and waste the time out. So you got to
do your your gotta have it play. It's got to
be a pass there. You can't. You can't use that
timeout if.

Speaker 2 (01:52:26):
You had him soaring over the end zone and a
sort of Josh Allen leap, that is more of a
play than what they ended up running today.

Speaker 3 (01:52:35):
Yeah, he is Carrier Roads. I'm Dan Byer.

Speaker 2 (01:52:38):
So the Bills that loss more costly than you would think.
He's the All Pro I'm Dan Byer. We'll tell you why,
plus our MVPs for Week fourteen next here on Fox
Sports Red Zone Radio.

Speaker 1 (01:52:51):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.

Speaker 2 (01:52:54):
These carry Roads. I'm Dan Bayer. Rams could that big
win against the Bills? Oh it is Fox Sports Red
Zone Radio. I just can't get over it. It bothers
me so much when you just have miscues and it
just completely just completely erases your equation of winning. Like

(01:53:20):
their plans would have just been running up to the
line and then doing it again. It would have been
it would have been more beneficial for the Bills to
clean the pile and then waste fifteen seconds doing that,
and then, as your point said, they got in on
the second one, and then at least if you kick
it back to them, you have thirty seconds if you
get that stop to try to kick a field goal,

(01:53:42):
and they didn't do it. It's just again, it was a
long shot for the Bills, but they eliminated themselves from
any contention and understanding by using that timeout when they did. Sorry,
I'm just stuck on it, carry and they can't get
off of it.

Speaker 3 (01:54:00):
I see.

Speaker 4 (01:54:00):
No, that's the whole thing right the Monday the Monday
Monday morning quarterback right where we I mean, obviously it
is you're correct in what you're saying, but hindsight twenty twenty,
we always look at you know, what could have been
and what should have been. But yeah, I mean it's
a tough, tough loss for the Bills after fighting back
and getting back in it, but huge win for the Rams.

Speaker 3 (01:54:20):
Do you think of Bill Belichick coach team would have
made that mistake? No? Do you think an Andy Reid
coach team would have made that mistake?

Speaker 4 (01:54:27):
Was talking about Andy Reid Philadelphia, Kinas City, Kansas City
for the No, No, I don't think so either.

Speaker 2 (01:54:34):
And so these situations happened for teams. Dan Campbell is
all the rage for what happened on Thursday because of
their of how they've handled their games and how they've
handled the timing and going forward on fourth down and
a tie game, so Green Bay wouldn't get the ball back,
that's all great, Yeah, but there are scenarios where coaches
at times mismanaged the clock, Yes, and this is one

(01:54:57):
of them. And in a league where things are so
rare thin, these decisions matter. This now puts the Bills again.
The Bills were a game back of the Chiefs with
the tiebreaker because of their head to head for home
field advantage throughout the playoffs. Yes, you'll lose this game today.
Maybe more of the problem, Carrie is giving up the

(01:55:18):
forty four points that they did to the Rams exactly.
And again, you like the Rams that during this game.
I like the Rams during this game. I thought it
was a big spot for them, and they ended up
coming up with a victory. But the Bill's inability to
use their timeouts correctly at the end eliminated their chance
of winning the game. And now they are two back
of the lost column to Kansas City. And also what's

(01:55:40):
interesting is that now even with the Steelers for a
record of ten and three in the AFC, So now
both Buffalo and Pittsburgh are sitting there with ten and
three marks on their ledger. And there's a game for
Buffalo next week against the Detroit Lions. Oh yeah, So
this is this is what I'm saying, Like these things

(01:56:02):
end up adding up and at some point you're gonna
make a misstep here or a misstep there.

Speaker 3 (01:56:08):
Both the Steelers and Bills.

Speaker 2 (01:56:09):
Just looking at the conference records, both at seven and two,
so right now tied with the conference record, but the
Bills wouldn't even get the you know, could be in
jeopardy of losing the second seed because of today's loss.
They were knocking on the door of the number one
seed and now just have to do everything they can
to hold on to the number two seed.

Speaker 3 (01:56:29):
Yeah, no, I mean all these games count.

Speaker 4 (01:56:30):
And again what you're saying, I mean these critical moments,
these critical teaching moments. You know, you would love to
have these happen and wins, but when it happened in
losses like this, where it's a tight race, it's pretty
difficult to overcome.

Speaker 3 (01:56:42):
He's Carrier Oads. I'm Dan Byer.

zero giveaways in a game where two hundred and forty

are the first to douce last. There you go, all right,
all right, so let's clean up two matters of work.

Speaker 6 (02:00:31):
Number one.

Speaker 2 (02:00:32):
Kyle Shanahan said after today's win about the speculation of
any team's trading for him in the offseason and moving somewhere.
He says, this is where I want to be. Does
today's win by the forty nine Ers over the Bears
make you think that San Francisco has a chance to
get this back on track?

Speaker 13 (02:00:49):
Uh?

Speaker 3 (02:00:51):
Not from the Bears win?

Speaker 7 (02:00:53):
No?

Speaker 2 (02:00:53):
I agree, No, No, I agree. Yeah, I think there's
a lot of road to hoe if you will, for
the forty nine ers in a depleted Bears team doesn't
do it tonight, Chiefs and Chargers from Kansas City, What
do you like?

Speaker 4 (02:01:08):
It's gonna be It's gonna be one of those one
score games until late and where I think the Chiefs
will win this game by I think they'll win by ten.
Chargers just doesn't happen. Don't have enough to keep up.
I know the Chiefs haven't scored a lot, but yeah,
I'm gonna take the Chiefs.

Speaker 5 (02:01:22):
There's no Lad McConkie tonight for the Chargers.

Speaker 2 (02:01:25):
He is inactive. That is a big, big piece of
the Chargers offense. And I know the Chiefs play these
close games. I just think that Kansas City's the better team.
And without McConkie, justin, Herbert's gonna have to do a
lot and he can't do it all by himself. Give
me the Chiefs tonight. Yes, good news Chargers fans. Again,
we both think were wrong last week. So we were

(02:01:46):
wrong last week, we could be wrong this week. Well,
we hope you join us next week.

Speaker 3 (02:01:49):
