Speaker 1 (00:01):
Don't listening to Fox Sports Radio. Oh, let's go, aren't he? No,
let's go. I'm already but no, what what do I get?
Where am I going? My season's already done? Where week
one of the end of my football team in college
was done after week zero and my and in the
end of my my two favorite teams are out scored

(00:24):
seven in week one? What where am I going? Where?
Where am I going? What am I doing? Well? I mean,
we got two hours and fifty nine minutes to fill here.
We can wrap it up right now? All right, let's
go next, Let's go next. Now again, I want to
give what football season are we on? This is at
the very least Bobo, what number seven? I think? I

(00:45):
think so? And Bobo, you've been with us for what
at the very least four of those right three? All
four of it with him? Um, but been here a long, long,
long and lead a Lap has been in with us before.
And I feel and this say the Saker has been
here every step of the way. But I feel like
I have to give this disclaimer before we go out

(01:06):
and lose our minds over the next three hours and
then every single week thereafter as we come to you
Alive from the Getico Fox Sports Radio studios. Fifteen minutes
could save you or more on car insurance. Visit guy
dot com for a free rate quote. Now, Arnie, I
try to be level headed, right, I try to be
that guy that kind of realizes that you know, it's

(01:28):
it's a long season. But I'm just I'm making this clear.
We get it that it's a long season. We understand
that there are seventeen weeks, sixteen games, playoffs. We understand it. Chris,
I'm so, I'm so miserable. I'm jealous of the Oakland Raiders.
What do you want? I'm jealous of your team? How

(01:49):
about that? Well, here's here's my point, though, Arnie, I mean,
just let me finish you real quick. Here's my point. Uh,
our shows tonight, not in week eight, not in week seven.
I wish it was when the draft was next year.
But it's what we do, and we have fun with it,
and we invite you to jump on board. Is to

(02:10):
lose your mind and throw logic out the window. Every
so often, I'll try to interject a little logic in there,
and then I'll stop and realize, what am I trying
to do here? What am I doing here. Can you
fire coaches after one game? Or does that not work
in the NFL? I think the Arkansas Razorbacks did that
twenty years ago. Yeah, I think they if you google

(02:30):
it up, I think they fired Jack Crow after like
one game when they lost to the Citadel and then
they fired their coach. And it's like a relationship. You know,
how many times did you go out on a date
and she said, oh, after twenty minutes, I have to
use the restroom? And right, yeah, or said, oh my
mom just called, she said she died, I have to go,

(02:53):
or something like that did not happen to you. Well,
I lay out that that disclaimer just so you know
that we were only partially insane, right, And I I'm
allowed to be in a good mood because well, first
of all, the Raiders haven't played yet, and secondly, I've
had my Antonio Brown what is it? Eight stages of grief?

(03:13):
Seven stages of grief? And now as we watch Sunday
Night Football tonight with New England up thirty to three,
you're right, three zero thirty to three weeks. Yes, goodness,
they kicked that field goal? Should be fired before the
game ends. He should be fine. Well, Here's here's my hope.
Here's you're ready to fire Mike Todlin by tonight. Goodbye, goodbye,

(03:39):
so awful you would be as a general manager. You
were three out in the second series. You're gone. When
it's not going to work, it's not gonna work. When
it's over, it's over. Let's break it off. Good bye.
Here's the thing. It's now thirty three to three, as
they just kicked a field goal, and on the sidelines,
Belichick is chill out his assistance. He's mad at them.

(04:03):
What what's going on here, Arnie? You're destroying them. You're
playing without one of your best defensive players in Kyle
Van Noy. Antonio Brown is joining you next week and
you got him for absolutely nothing when you would offer
the first round pick for him to Marius Thomas. Is
gonna be back with him. I mean, our only hope
right now to slow down the Patriots is at Antonio

(04:25):
Brown is so much of an absolute disaster that he
can bring down that whole locker room. Unfortunately, I don't
think that's the case. That's not the case. It's done.
It's for the first time in the time. You know
how we always say that the NBA was it was
bad when we already knew that Golden State was in
the championship. Well, this year, it's already been decided. It's

(04:46):
it's the Patriots and the Cowboys. So um, let's speed
up the regular season and I'll see you down in
Miami for the Super Bowl. Look, we we wait for
this for months and months, and we we we go
through draft. You do you deal with me having football
guys on in June and July and we talk about
how this is going to put We don't need him

(05:06):
anymore now and you're done after week one? Oh yeah,
make your reservations. Cowboys and a Patriots, So enjoy in
Miami to not that far of a drive. I'll probably
just take a fight down there and meet you guys
down there. But I don't want to remind you, Arnie.
And and again, I know the show's tonight, and I think,
what's our rule. I'm not allowed to hold your past

(05:28):
against you, past words against you. Thank you. When the
Dolphins picked up Josh Rosen, you did start making your
Super Bowl plans When they picked up Josh Rosen. You
only was I wanted to go to the game with him.
I didn't mean he was gonna play in the game.
I you know, I am just so disgusted on everything.
I should be fired for everything I've said on the

(05:50):
show for the last year, and that fired me over
that that would make both of us. So that's the
happiest chick. Hey speak, gonna speaking of Bobo before we
get too carried away here. You know, I know you're
not big on going to in depth on coordinator changes,
and I know that some fans are the same way,

(06:10):
and that's fine. I mean I am. I think it's
a it's a major difference maker. You're telling me Dak
Prescott just got that improved from the end of last
year to this year. Are you telling me he just
fine tuned his mechanics between now and then? Oh my gosh,
Kellen Moore, look out. That was an impressive start for
the Dallas Cowboys. In fact, so much so, AREN'TI? Man?

(06:32):
I I don't know if the Giants might start thinking
about Daniel Jones and seeing if the Jacksonville Jaguars want
to pick up Eli Manning from him after Nick Foles
got hurt. Today. That was two very impressive showings today.
What New England is doing well? Three? If you want
to include Baltimore, but they were playing Miami. What New
England's doing right now, leading thirty three to three with
six minutes to go. And then what the Dallas Cowboys

(06:52):
did earlier. And I don't know if the Giants are
gonna be all that great this year, but if you
play a bad team, you beat the snot out of him.
That's absolutely what they did. This is the first time,
if I'm correct. You'll have to look this up, and
I know you're good on Google and all that. Okay,
this is the first time in NFL history that two
teams of Quinton Division after the first week, the Patriots

(07:13):
and the Cowboys looked at up. Make sure I got
my facts straight. I'm pretty sure that's the first time
that's happened in NFL history. So you're just saying their divisions,
you're not necessarily yeah conference, Yeah, I mean it's pretty
much done right. The Patriots of Quinch their division. I mean, jeez,
that that AMC East is like that, it's worse than

(07:34):
I even thought it's that's I and I thought it
was horrible to begin with, and it's worse than horrible. Seriously,
that's that's the worst division I think again, in the
history of sports, it's the worst division out there. And
the way Philadelphia put up such a struggle against Washington,
um that division is over. Cowboys win it. Boom. I

(07:57):
think they're just gonna start investing their starters now on
just to get ready for the playoffs. Well, can can
I try to temperate just a little bit? Is there?
Is there anything? Is there anything I can say to
change your mind tonight? Because let me let me bring
this up and again this is where logic tries to
jump in just a little bit. We knew the Cowboys

(08:17):
were gonna win week one, right, Nobody in the right
mind thought the Giants were gonna go in there and
beat them and dated what they're supposed to do. Told
me I would have gone the Vegas and better million dollars. Well,
we didn't know about the spread. I mean, I could
have told you if it was gonna be a ten
point or a nine point game. But did you really
think the Giants were gonna go win in Dallas today? No?

(08:38):
But I didn't think they get white washed like that.
Though it wasn't as bad, I guess I'm somewhat proud
of what I did. But then I would say, as
far as today is concerned, the only thing that I
came away thinking, oh my gosh, that's a that's a
little bit more concerning than maybe maybe I even considered

(09:01):
it was just how good Kansas City looked when they
weren't necessarily firing on all cylinders all game long. And
that's supposed to be a really good Jaguar defense. So Arnie,
maybe as you rushed to Chris and the Cowboys and
the Patriots, maybe maybe there's a little bit extra now. No,
Tyreek Hill is gonna be out for a little bit,
and the Chiefs are gonna lose next week to the Raiders,
so they'll have to bounce back from that. But I mean,

(09:24):
I'm not ready to go ahead and say that the
Patriots are the Kings of the a f C quite yet.
I do think that Kansas City is gonna have something
to say about it. And it's really hard to gauge
Casey's defense because I mean, again, Nick Foles goes goes
to bed end, goes down, he's probably done for the season,
likely done for the season. You're going up against gardener
Mintshew who probably had planned on holding clipboard all season long,

(09:46):
and he didn't look too bad. But I know they
still have a little work to do on their defense.
But Arnie, I'm not I'm not ready to bury the
Chiefs yet in this a f C and just go
ahead and hand everything to New England regardless of the
Antonio Brown moving, how good they're looking to Chris, Chris,
the Hatreds are winning thirty three to three over Pittsburgh
and they're getting Antonio Brown. What do you want me
to say? Boy, this team's in disarray. They're in big trouble.

(10:10):
They got there's there's a big difference just stopping and saying, Hey,
they're not invinced. I don't think they're invincible. They're gonna
lose some games this year. Maybe. I don't know. Is
there is there adds that they may go sixt No, No No,
I don't even know anymore. They have a world class defense,
now they've got a world class offense. They play in
the worst division in the history of sports. Um, they

(10:32):
just beat the Pittsburgh Steelers. They're up thirty three to
three and the score could have been sixties six to three,
and it doesn't make a difference. Um, It's it's disgusting.
There's there's no stuff, and they got a quarterback that's
the best quarterback in the history of the NFL. And
guess what, he only had a perfect passer rating against
the Steeler defense. But if I, if I have learned anything,
aren't he from listening? If I learned anything from listening

(10:55):
to you, Dad, it's that the dude is forty something,
so he fits you. The age kicks in right. Come on,
isn't it the ultimate undefeated thing in sports? And something's
like the new twenties something? Man? You are you are
really really down about that. A lot of things went
against you today. Not only did the Dolphins give up
a fifty burger, but the Patriots are looking really really

(11:19):
good and the Cowboys look good. This might be well
it's week one, but I'm just saying, you know, this
might be the worst night that you've had in quite
a while. Giant Scott. I don't know what to do
to make you feel better. My debot scored seven. My
Wildcats was the Hawaii who but they beat Northern Arizona. Yeah,

(11:39):
and we still gave up like thirty thirty points or
something like that. I wish I could tell you I felt.
I just wish the the NBA season started, so my
knicks can get going. Yeah, you really want to be disappointed. Hey,
here's what's crazy. Where are the Patriots losing? On this
schedule that just popped up on NBC. They go to

(12:00):
Miami next week, They hosted Jets in week three. In
week four, they go to Buffalo. They go to Washington
in week six, and they go to the part of
me Washington in week five, and then they go to
the Giants in week six. A harder schedule. I don't
know about that they do. I'd be afraid of New
Mexico State after what you just read. Well, I don't

(12:24):
know what to say to I'm not trying to brighten
your mood here. I'm just trying to I'm trying to
use what you always tell me. Why. I just want
to know White tom One still has a job. Why
there's three minutes left in the game. Why he hasn't
been escorted from the sideline once he decided to kick
the field goal when they were down. Whatever they were down,
I don't remember anymore. So you walked down in the
and you and you fire a Hall of Fame. I

(12:45):
would have walked up him as a coach. I want
you to meet this guy. His name is Bill Um.
He'll be your replacement. I appreciate everything you've done for us,
and um Um please leave your security badge as you
escort as you leave the stadium. So is it even
worth talking about the NFL all tonight? You want to
preview the NBA off season? There was I mean, there
was some other good games obviously in the NFL, just

(13:05):
just none of the team's I root for. I've got
to look, people are sending me on Twitter. Um, jump
on the Viking bandwagon. Jump on the Chiefs bandwagon. There's
not too many bandwagons you could jump on. It's pretty
much been decided with the Cowboys and the Patriots, I
maybe the Chiefs. There's only about like three teams to
jump on the bandwagon, and that's pretty much it. Blank,

(13:26):
Can I can I point something out to let's see here,
who is it? That's Blue Forever and Judge Reid? Why
would you want someone on your bandwagon that's going to
hit him in the back with the chair at the
first moment of adversity. Stutes trying to fire Mike Tomlin
after a bad game tonight, I mean bad, yes game,
bad decisions, just bad everything with that guy. Seriously. I mean,

(13:50):
he's been hailed as a saint most of the day
today for how he was able to handle the Antonio
Brown situation for so long, and now with his team losing,
you're just saying, get out of there on a night
whenever the Patriots are racing their Super Bowl banner. Obviously
you didn't watch the game. I guess you didn't see
today's game. I'm watching today's game. I have it on
right in front of me. I mean again, I know

(14:11):
you don't like having logic in here, but I mean
we logic have to do with this. I'm I'm watching
the game and I'm looking at Tomlin. He's gotta look
like a like a deer in the headlights. I'm saying,
are you the coach? Are you just saying or you
just have a good seat for the game. It's like
he's not doing anything. He's just standing there. The only
thing I saw him do was h it was fourth

(14:32):
and one, uh punt punt. It's fourth and inches punt punt.
We're down twenty Moore, nothing but that ball. We gotta
put the ball pin them back. Ni do you remember
what happened in the first three weeks of the season
of the Patriots. Well, let me go back. Do you
remember what happened in Game one two thousand seventeen of
the Patriots when they lost to Kansas City forty two

(14:55):
to twenty seven. They lost to Kansas Day? What did that?
What ended up happening that year? They ended up, Well,
what's happened just about every single year, they ended up
in the Super Bowl. They started one and two. Last
year they lost thirty one to twenty to Jacksonville in
a week two and got beat by Detroit. They were
one and two, and you were on here telling me
it's over pray and now, uh, you're ready to do

(15:20):
the same thing on the one eighties side of this
now a year later. Come on, man, you know better
than this. As much as we need, jerk, don't be
handing anything to the Patriots. Don't be bearing the Steelers.
And I've done buy any stretch of the imagination. I
guess you have not seen Antonio Brown. Well that's okay,
you'll you'll be so. I haven't actually seen I haven't
seen Antonio Brown because he hasn't played since Week sixteen

(15:43):
last year. All I've seen is a diva who bitches
and complains more than anyone I've ever seen in my life.
He's he's the he's the best chance we have to
implode the Patriots right now. Hey, great news. There's a
quick way, an easy way. You could save money. Switched
to Geico. It only takes fifteen minutes to see if
you could say fift or more on car insurance. Go
to gayo dot com and see how much you could

(16:04):
save when we come back. I don't know. If Arnie
wants to talk about the NFL, maybe we can get
it to the NBA off season. It's right around the corner.
It's aren't in Plank on Fox Sports Radio. It's Arnie
and Plank on a Fox Football Sunday. Your calls coming up.
Don't let Lee sit on his hands and nurse his
three day hangover from going to lambeau Field. I'm he

(16:28):
did go to lambeau Field, but he was at Soldier
Field on Thursday night. I went to lambeau Field as well.
See got him both. Uh, he might need coffee to
wake him up from that Friday game, but to hit
him up eight seven seven six three six nine. That's
eight seven seven six three six nine or eight seven
seven ninety nine on Fox. Are you like Arnie or
you're done with football now? Because you know who's going

(16:49):
to the Super Bowl? Believe, first of all, if you're
a Jaguars fan, you're like, okay, season over what do
you think? It's pretty much done? Um. If you're a
Lions fan, you're like fire mathe Patrician, Now it's pretty
much done. If you're a Buccaneers fan, you're like, oh,
Jamis Winston is horrible and I can't argue that. Fine, Fire,
you know, get rid of him. He's done you pretty

(17:10):
much no your seasons over there? Also, Um, there's a
lot of teams that are that are talking like that.
I mean, if you're the Jets, um, you should be embarrassed.
I don't even know if the Dolphins we have enough
people to feel the team next week. It's that bad.
It's it's it's horrible. It's crazy. Eight seven seven ninety
nine on Fox. But again, I mean it's week one, Arnie.
The only people who should really be jumping off a

(17:31):
cliff right now are Dolphin fans, especially with the report
that came out tonight and before we well, maybe maybe
we should go ahead and give some perspective, the final
score of that game. The final score of that game
was fifty something to what seven? You had a fifty

(17:53):
burger put on your But the good the good news
is Lamar Jackson did throw three incompletes. He threw three
in completions against your team. Now I can't laugh you
after Raiders Haven played and they've got Joe Flacco tomorrow night.
But so what's been interesting is according to a Pro

(18:15):
Football Talk report, which again um p f T, not
p f T, the the commentator that our commentary, the
actual website, it's hitting about two fifty on its reports. Okay,
it's like a punch in Judy middle in fielder. You know,
Jay Glazers a good bat, nine hundred, he'd be a
Hall of Famer after a week. P f T da Nah,

(18:37):
not so much so. They had a report that several
Miami players have already reached out to their agents to
ask for trades and that they don't want to be
part of a rebuild, to which I immediately responded with,
who in the hell would want some of these guys? Right?
I mean, what the hell do I want with you?
I mean, they've already traded Laramie Tunzil. They've already moved

(18:59):
on from Kenny Stills. Though I mean Kenny, it's not
a superstar yet. I just who who's on that roster
that maybe someone says, hey, I want to go get
him make things better. Josh Rosen even though he couldn't
beat out Ryan Fitzpatrick. So afterwards, For those who don't know,
the new head coach of the Miami Dolphins is Brian Flores.

(19:21):
He should be fired after game sometimes you know, Chris something, Chris,
did you see the team before I even had a
chance to find the game on television? Or was seven nothing? Well? Yeah,
I mean they They also had a fake punt run
on him very early. I saw that one too. I
wanted to punch the television. So they were asking Brian

(19:41):
Flores about, Hey, were you mad that they thought they
ran it up a little bit? Was there any frustration?
And I thought he had a good take because this
is kind of natural. Here was Miami Dolphin's head coach,
Brian Flores on whether or not he felt like Baltimore
ran it up. Today, those are my thoughts. It's not
their job to let off, so it's our job to
stop him. So John's a good co They got a
good team. I'm not looking for handouts here. Yeah, and

(20:03):
I don't think anyone is right. Are you sitting here
playing a violin today? Losing? I'm sorry, fifty something to
not very much. I'm trying to make you feel better
about this, aren't you know it's not gonna Yeah, well,
way to be a tough guy. Fifty to ten. We
gotta stop them, or you think, Sherlock, you think maybe
you gotta pick it up on defense a little bit more. Yeah,
Lamar Jackson was only seventeen to twenty four, only five touchdowns,

(20:26):
so I it wasn't like he had a big game
or anything like that. We gotta stop him. They can't
ease up. We gotta stop him. They're ready to run
through a wall for you, coach. I can't wait to
see the next game, meaning four point underdog to the Patriots.
I'd bet a million dollars on the Patriots if I
had it a million. You see how big that number
is gonna how bigot and a half fourteen and a

(20:47):
half to open. That was that was released about midway
through this game tonight. Now, after what happened tonight with
New England knowing they'll have Hannoi back next week and
they add Antonio Brown in the mix, and that the
Patriots are excuse me, the Dolphins just gave a fifty something.
How big does that number grow? Oh if if even
they didn't start Brady and they started Stidham. I laid

(21:09):
the fourteen and a half points. Uh with the Patriots,
So Jared Stidham versus the Dolphins, I came back, I'd
lay the fourteen and half points against the against the Dolphins.
Oh man. Yeah, there's a part of me that kinda
wants to say that this is something you all deserve
because you allow yourself to get sucked into this. And

(21:31):
you know what's gonna happen. Yeah, you know what's gonna
be great is the Patriots are gonna lose the game
in like week three or four, and you're gonna get
all excited. Lose one game, they may go sixteen and
oh wait, wait, wait, hold on, hold on, hold on.
If I could play some of our shows from years past,
when the Patriots lose a game, it's the happiest you are.

(21:51):
And now you're gonna act like your sensical whenever it
comes to the Patriots. Oh, it'll just be one game
that they lose. We don't. We're not idiots. We did
not have the men in black wipe our memories out. Arnie.
We know how you are with the Patriots. You're gonna
they're gonna lose the game in a couple of weeks.
You're liked, we overhyped him. This is what happens, and
your it's your fault. Don't fall for this, man. They're

(22:12):
not unbeatable. I'm telling you right now. I think that
the Pittsburgh Steelers got a little bit o favorite in
every game probably, so what Favorites don't always win? Man,
they have a better than fifty percent chance to win
every game this year. You understand that there hasn't been
many seasons where they've gone into it where they're not

(22:32):
mathematically I'm correct. Well, you could have said that any
season for about the last few years. Yes, no, No,
most seasons over under maybe eleven eleven and a half,
or excuse me, at ten. Now it's eleven and a half.
I bet everything on the over eleven and a half.
If I could, I'd steal your car, give me your
kids college fund. Let's bet it on the over eleven.

(22:54):
Are you kidding me? I don't have a kid's college fund.
My daughters are gonna marry billionaires. I'm not sending them
to college. Come on, aren't let go to the best
money junior college could buy? Eight seven seven ninety nine
on Fox eight seven seven six nine. Alright, your tweets
are very good. I'll get to those. I'm not ignoring them.
But as we come to you live from the guy
called Fox Sports Radio Studios, Steve to Seger is in

(23:15):
the house. He was front and center for a great
game between the Chargers and the Colts today, and now
he's got everything going on in the world of sports.
What's up, Steve? Can I just say the amazing thing
about that game with Chargers Colts, Well, there are a
few amazing things, but you know how slow the Chargers
have started season after season after season, and then they
gag at nine lead in the second half and somehow

(23:36):
allow a touchdown in the final minute on a seemingly
twenty five play drive. This percent put together for the Colts,
and you're thinking, Okay, this is We've seen this before.
It's every September. They've blown the lead, they're gonna lose
in overtime, and you know what, happens. And of course
the kicking. Remember a couple of years ago they lost
with the new kicker. They had picked a couple of
games that cost them the playoffs. They're starting kicker was

(23:59):
out today because an injury, and so they had a
CFL guy as their kicker who they attempted to put
in for extra points in a preseason game. I went
to and he missed the first one and the second
woman was blocked. And those were only two extra point
attaps that night. That guy was perfect on extra point attempts.
That guy made a field goal and Adam vinit Terry
maybe the best ever, missed an extra point, missed two

(24:23):
field goal attempts, and the Colts losing overtime, just stunning
Chargers thirty to twenty four the final And by the way,
think back to the playoffs. One team wins, the coin
toss goes down the field and the other team never
touches the ball, never got the ball in overtime. As
for tonight's yeah, the Steelers got whipped at New England.
In Ben Roethlisberger's now sixteen year career, only one other

(24:47):
time had the Steelers lost a game by thirty or
more and that was against the Eagles three years ago.
Tonight lost by thirty at New England. Tom Brady three
touchdown passes, three forty one yards thirty three to three Patriots.
The final. If you're looking for something negative for New
England Tonight, Sony Michelle fifteen carries fourteen yards, so you go, yeah,

(25:12):
they can move to football though, Okay, they'll get me
and next I'll just on third downs. By the way.
With Melvin Gordon holding out for the Chargers, it was
common knowledge on talk show after talk show that you know,
they won game after game without him last year. What's
he doing? And so Austin Ekeler is the starting running back.
He scores three touchdowns without Gordon today and gets the

(25:35):
game winner and Gordon is still holding out. Thanks for
playing Detroit and an overtime tie at Arizona today twenty seven.
All the Cardinals had trailed to six early in the
fourth quarter. Kyler Murray with the comeback, Dallas, that guy.
Dallas beat the Giants seventeen Seattle over Cincinnati despite Andy

(25:55):
Dalton's four eighteen yards passing. San Francisco won one seventeen
at MPa bay Is Jamis Winston through two pick sixes
in the second half. Tennis Tennessee and Baltimore with road wins.
I heard about that Baltimore game. I hear at Miami
Lamar Jackson five touchdown passes to Arney. It didn't exist.
L s U is up to number four in the
new eight people the top three of the same Clemson, Alabama,

(26:18):
and Georgia two. Major League Baseball. It's a Yankees Red
Sox game, so of course it's still going. It's after
eleven thirty at night. They even started Sunday Night Baseball
an hour earlier this year. It doesn't matter. Yes, Yankees
in the ninth, top of the ninth lead eight five
at Boston. Now a Yankee win will put them at
ninety four victories. Houston got its ninety four today. That

(26:41):
final was Astro's one to one over Seattle. It was
kind of like that Dolphins game. Come to think of it,
Dodgers have ninety three wins. They shut out San Francisco
five nothing. The Dodgers magic number is down to two
to clinch the NL West. Back to the show in
ten seconds. First, a word from Farmers at Farmers Insurance.
We know a roof can wish to in the lot

(27:02):
one exception being an airborne car. I've seen it, covered it.
Dr Farmers, we are farmers underwritten my Farmers truck Fire
Insurance exchange and affiliates products not available in every state.
Raphael Nadal when the US Open in five sets and
Kevin Harvick took the NASCAR race at Indie easily, guys,
back to you, I completely forgot about baseball being on.
I was so excited to flip over and watch some highlights,

(27:24):
and it's, uh, what is this? As we come to
you alive from the Geico Fox Sports radio studios, It's
easy to say fift or more on car insurance with Geico,
go to Geico dot com or called eight nine four
seven otto. The only hard part figuring out which way
is you know? Our r G three was better than
any quarterback the Dolphins, hud Well, isn't that? Didn't you? Originally?

(27:46):
Three in Miami look like all probe today going up
against the Dolphins defense, I wanted to play. R G
three was six or six for fifty five yards in
a touchdown. His wife had a kid too, so he
was celebrating that. All right, listen, I don't want you
to be alone in this Arnie, Let's go to the
phones eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox Auntie and
Plank on a Fox Football Sunday. Larry is a Dolphin fan.

(28:08):
He's in Virginia Beach. Larry, Welcome to Fox Sports Radio, Arnie, Chris,
how y'all doing tonight? Thank you a phone call. Always nice.
Listens to y'all. He sends you humor, helps you see
a little bit better. Because I'm not, I was totally surprised.
How you know. I knew they're probably gonna lose. I
don't think they get complete. The Ravens always beat us up,

(28:28):
but I didn't think would be this bad. And another
thing that really bothered me is the thinking thing, because
I don't like to take I'm not you know. I
believe if you try, if you win, you win, you lose,
your lose, but give an effort. But I don't know
what your opinion was on effort today, if they or
they would just disorganized because I know they had a
hurricane situation earlier in the week, if they had anything

(28:50):
to do with it, and I appreciate the call. No,
I don't think that they did to do with it.
I think they just think out there I think they
should give special discounted take at prices UM two dollar
tank for to a night or something like that. It's
it's just an embarrassment. Um. The coaching staff should be embarrassed.
The players should be embarrassed. Some of these guys are

(29:10):
making millions and millions of dollars and this is the
kind of effort you put in. You want to call
up your agent, you know what, you want to go
to another team. I wotter, we just cut you because
I don't think another team wants you. It's horrible, Chris.
I seriously, fifty nine to ten at home to a
Baltimore team. Get out of here. This is this, you know.

(29:30):
I wish the commissioner would say something, and I want
to get to it, but this is just too much
for me to handle. Uh. It's gonna take more than
two uh to turn things around in Miami. It looks
like right now and here here one more thing that
I'll add is I saw this happen in Oakland last
year when when Clil maccott traded, it was a gut plant.

(29:51):
You brought everyone down. So I don't know if you
can say the same thing happened when they moved on
from Laramy Tunslan got the first round picks. But I'll
say this, it's really hard to tank in the NFL. Yeah.
I know that today might not be the best example
of that with what happened, But I mean they're still pros, right,
I mean they're still gonna go out and give maximum effort. Right, No,

(30:12):
not really? Why should they? You know? I was. I
saw Jamis Winston after the game today, after you threw
another interception that was running back for a touchdown. It
was all smiles like, hey, you do would give everybody
hugs on his team on the other team, shaking hands
like you didn't even play a game, like oh heyy
you know, call me later. I you know, I gotta
go back on the bus, but I'll speak to you

(30:33):
guys later. It's like nothing bothers that guy. Well, let's
see what Todd and Tampa thinks of that. He's probably
a very angry Buccaneers fan right now. What's going on? Todd,
Welcome and Fox Sports Radio. All right, so let's get
down to business here. Let me let me say something.
First of all, that was the worst officiated game I've
ever seen in my life. Okay, with Cameron breaks scored twice,
and they called it back for a whole thing. Okay,

(30:54):
I haven't. I mean, that's just the way it is.
Let me say something about our great coaching staff. Okay,
it was I I said, if we we were up
seven six, we picked up Jimmy g we ran it
into the house. We're up seven six, okay. And and
and the bottom line is here we go again, where
where we get to the two yard line. It's fourth down.
We kicked the field goal, we take the points off

(31:14):
the board, and then we try and go for it
like like we're like we're Joe Montana kicked the freaking
field goal. It's our defense was playing lights out, Okay.
And then you're gonna call a screen pass two in
the middle, so you throw the screen to the right
and let Ronald Jones out of USC You had a
good game. So so that was on the coaching staff.
I know, James listen, I know Jamis didn't win, but

(31:36):
you know the bottom line that we were in that
ball game, and that was Arians making some bad calls
as a head coach here and and and and putting
us in that position. If if we're we're five and eleven,
we're not good enough to go for it on fourth
and two and try and kidding, you kicked the field
goal left to put your defense back on the field. Okay,
that we made a lot of mistakes here, but again,

(31:57):
the good news is we're tied for because everybody else
lost and every I don't know what game he was
Jamis Winston um through three interceptions. Maybe that was part
of the reason why you lost. There was a reason
why you lost. He's well, but again, his point is
a good one. I found myself watching a lot of

(32:18):
that game. Uh and again, Bruce arians is a great
coach and he's forgotten more football than I've I'll ever know.
But they really put them in some tough situations with
some of their decisions. With that said, Jamis has got
to be smarter with the football, and you're right, Aren'tie,
He can't. There's a reason why they haven't committed long
term to him yet. There's a reason why Tampa might
be in a position where they could be battling for

(32:40):
the services of a Justin Herbert or to a or
maybe even looking at a couple of years down the road.
I mean, they're not sold on this guy yet. So
but I think they ended up having three total touchdowns
maybe four taken off the board in that game. For
because by the remember when I said there's a list
of coaches I'd fire after one game, Um, I give

(33:00):
you a whole list of players I would bench after
one game, and two of them played quarterback in that game.
And Jamis Wisden and Jimmy Garoppolo. I think, Jimmy, if
I didn't give you a hundred million dollars, you'd be
hitting the pine right now. You have disgusted me. That
was not That was not his best performance. And you
know it's it's interesting because again he falls into that
category that we joke about a lot a lot on

(33:21):
this show, aren't he. He's in our three Game Hall
of Fame right. A couple of years ago he played
three really good games. Everyone lost their mind, now, I mean,
my goodness, that was. Yeah, the forty Niners won, and
winning the game is the most important thing, but it
was that was a gut wrenching game. Sixties six yards passes.
Mahomes had a hundred sixties six before the first quarter ended.

(33:44):
I think Mahomes had a hundred sixty six after two drives.
That's how good. He was throwing the football, all right.
When we come back to the Geico Fox Sports Radio studios,
I'm not ignoring your tweets. Their next got a couple
of lines up and if you want to get in
here is Arenie likes to say, why do we have
a line open on the first full Sunday of the NFL.
Are you angry like Todd or are you Todd and
Tampa that is? Or are you busy constructing another shelf

(34:07):
for a Super Bowl title like they might be in
New England? Right now, it's Arnie in Plank on a
Fox Football Sunday. Frank Schwab will kick off the next
hour with us from Yahoo's Sports. Will get back to
the phones in a bit with Arnie span your on,
Chris Plank. You're feeling any better, Arnie? Well, I'm just
it's starting to really sink in that they can go

(34:28):
oh in sixteen, the Dolphins and the Giants can go too,
and fourteen, so you know I've got that to look
forward to. I just want this year to get over
with so I can just get on with the draft
and Draft two and and move on from this. I mean,
it's horrible. It's gonna be a fun year. I think
I think that the chronic thing that happens in the
week one is happening here. I think you're gonna I

(34:50):
think by weekend you're gonna be this crazy. This is amazing.
This is one of those years that you know we're
gonna write books about UH. Paul rights. Please take more
calls from guys who complain about how the REV screwed
UH screwed them over award winning radio Paul. If that
dude called to talk about the greatness of the Bills,
you'd be frothing right now. You'd be so exciting. Um

(35:13):
isay cried the cults. Jets and Bengals all lose because
of their kicker. You know, that's a crazy side story
from today. That dude that was kicking for the Jets.
He was the player that the Ravens traded and and
I can't remember where they traded him to and then
got cut and then he ended up with the Jets.
Are that that extra point he tried and then the

(35:35):
field goal they gave him a chance to kick. Those
are the two ugliest kicks I think I've ever seen
in my light. What team is Carli Lloyd on? She's available,
She's available. Team. I didn't know, Mike Rinlan writes when
they asked John Harbaugh, why fake upunt up thirty five
to three, he replied, quote, we got the look we wanted.

(35:58):
There was eleven dolphins on the feet. Old, No, wait
a minute, that's not what he said, Mike, I think
you might have. I didn't think he said that. He
he took when when he he meant there was eleven
players on the He wasn't taking a shot at the
fact that there was dolphins out there, though. I think
that if you take the creative liberties with it, it

(36:19):
sounds fantastic. I can't wait the Hardbot leaves and becomes
a coach of the Dolphins. Why would he ever want
to leave Baltimore? If there was every time he was
gonna leave, wasn't it gonna be last year whenever they
had their little dust up over the contract and they
gave him a huge deal. I mean, I don't think
he's going anywhere. Well, I was gonna say, obviously I'm
talking about a different one. Obviously you didn't. You didn't

(36:41):
see that Michigan Army game. I told you, guys, armies good.
I told you that last year now everyone's gonna be
talking about how great they are and whenever they were
dumping all over him last year. If you don't play
the option, you don't want to see it. And my
Michigan doesn't play, they don't want to see it. But
I don't know. I don't know. Missaging is gonna have
much to say about the championship because their offenses do too.

(37:03):
Isn't that what the b y you guys said last
year about a couple? Are the Utah guy a couple
weeks ago about b yu? There? Poo poo, that's what
it is. Congratulations? Um oh, did South Dakota score again? Okay, no,
congratulations on that big victory over South Dakota. Aren'tie? Tonight
is not about college fight. I just want to congratulation,
that's all. Listen, they won the game. I mean, where

(37:27):
do you want to go with that? Not just want
to congratulated that. I don't care. I don't care. The
game was the last night. This is an NFL show?
Are you this bitter over your team getting beat fifteen?
What do you think? Of course, now that you know
there's no hope in sight? I thought we were at
least gonna win, maybe three games and put up a
fight in another three or four games, we lose it
the last minute or not even gonna get that. It's

(37:48):
gonna be an Owen sixteen season. I don't even want
to watch any games this year. Um alright, couple of
other tweets that I want to get to. And by
the way, as I mentioned, coming up next hour, we're
gonna go in depth with Yahoo Sports eight Frank Schwab,
who already has his list out of some of the
winners and losers. Though, are you even gonna ask a
question when we have NFL guests on or are you
just done? I just want them, I want them to

(38:10):
agree with me. I'm just gonna say, all right, Frank,
who do we need the fire after one game? Let's
go do do the list? They're uh a little troller
rights arn'tie should jump on the historically pathetic perennial Detroit
football lines bandwagon. A late collapse and to tie is
a win for kool aid line fans, and that Patricia
should be fired immediately after that game. But he just

(38:30):
stands seriously, that guy just wants a good seat to
the game. But he doesn't say anything during the course.
I want to take that pencil and tossing, you know,
up in the stands. What's wrong with you, buddy? Do something.
Your team's falling apart. You can't do anything, you're just
standing there. Oh he did, he didn't call a time out.
Well that was bebel called the time out. But but
and at coordinated can't call time out. The only person

(38:52):
that can call time out from the sideline, it's coach.
That's what I thought, that's the rule. Uh, Dick Stockton
told me, and he's a hundred and eighty six years old,
that he would know calling the game. By the way, Arnie,
he Matt patricious coaching with a ruptured achilles. And you're
getting on him for just standing there and not doing anything.

(39:13):
I'm surprised he's even on the sideline. I'd be Hugh
freezing it up if I was him, I'd have I'd
have a doctor's chair, I'd be in a hospital better
or something. I don't care. Get a requirer with the
stick on the side and and requine your feet up.
But show some emotion. Your your team's your team's losing
a lead to a to a guy that can't even
barely play quarterback. Yeah, that was that was horrible, wasn't it?

(39:36):
He threw for yards? Uh, Eddie rights jump on the
Browns bandwagon now, aren'ie? There's lots of room. Yeah again,
there's another one game declaration. Man, don't put teams in
the super Bowl based on a couple of good games
the year before. We'll talk more about the Browns and
their implosion. Next with Frank Schwap with Arnie and Plank

(39:57):
on Fox Sports Radio. I our two as we come
to you live from the Getico Fox Sports Radio Studios.
Fifteen minutes could save you fift or more on car insurance.
Visit guy dot com for a free rate quote. He's
Arnie Spaniard. How pathetic was his sports weekend? He tried
to talk trash on a team that scored seventy Good
luck with that, Arnie, And I thought he got the
my hat on? What else am I gonna do? Uh?

(40:19):
And my week could be awful, But thankfully the Raiders
don't play until tomorrow night, so life is good. Joining
us right now is her buddy, Frank Schwab. Love following
him on Twitter and reading all of his work, And yeah,
who's sports NFL writer? And he's already he already has
up his article on the winners and losers from week one.
So let's start with a Sunday night game, man, Frank.
If they're at Antonio Brown and Kyle van Noy getting

(40:41):
back from his wife having a kid, I mean, holy smokes,
how much better can the Patriots be? I know, I
mean I was impressive in every way. You know that
the defense of improvement that showed late last year totally
carried over, and the offense just looked great. I mean,
when you when you realize Cholesh Gordon's no slouch. She

(41:02):
He's one of receiving championship before, and now you had
another guy who's won of receiving championship before yardagewise as
Antonio Brown. And you still got Julian Edelman and James
White's dynamo out of the backfield, and in Brady didn't
look any any bit of his forty two years. Is
you all of a sudden just start to think like, yeah,
this looks like the two thousand seven team. This looks

(41:23):
like the two down and four team, This looks like
the two down and fourteen team. You know, not all
of the Patriots Super Bowl teams have been great last
year's So I don't think last year's team was great.
They were very very good. They won when they had
to their clutch. This team looks like it might be great.
This roster is really impressive, and like you said, looked
Antonio Brown might end up blowing himself up again like
he didn't know Oakland like he did in Pittsburgh, and

(41:45):
he's you know, he could be gone by week four.
I wouldn't be surprised, just because who knows what this
Antonio Brown story. But the fact that they don't need him,
that's how crazy that good this Patriots team is. They
don't need a clear Hall of Fame receiver. He's just
kind of a bonus for them at this point. You know, Frank,
if this was last year, you know, at the end
of the season, where Pittsburgh was fighting to make a

(42:05):
playoff and they it was a game like this thirty
three to three, people would say Tomlin lost the locker room.
He needs to be fired. Why wait the other fifteen games?
This was atrocious. Um, Everything he did was wrong, even
kicking the field goal was wrong. Uh, the team had
no heart. That's an embarrassing loss. He just he's he
was like a deer in the headlights, say it was.

(42:26):
It was embarrassing every which way around. Yes, the Patriots
were great, but Pittsburgh was that lousy. It was horrible. Yeah,
I think if it puts him on notice for sure.
I look, I'm talking this up to the Patriots being really,
really good. I just looked, and I just said, you
could tell right away this one team is overwhelming. The
other there's better. But I think, you know, I Pisper

(42:47):
comes out and and and looks this bad. Next week,
the week after, all of a sudden, this kind of
never ending job security my tom one has isn't there anymore? Hey,
they're definitely unnoticed. I'm willing to just say, hey, Patriots
or raised the banner. They look great. A lot of
teams are gonna get embarrassed by the Patriots this year.
Maybe I'm not gonna, you know, fire My Tomlin tomorrow,

(43:08):
but he's got he's backed against wall a little bit
after that performance, because you're right, they were terrible day.
What are you doing kicking the field roll out? Funny
to say, well, you don't have a true du Smith
Schuster at the end of the game to get hurt
in the final two minutes what was that about. I mean,
just doesn't all around debacle Tyvid Steelers and my Tomlin,
like I said, willing to give up the pass because
the papers are really good, but it's better not happen

(43:28):
again next week. So it's always hard to try to decide, Okay,
what was real what we saw and what might just
be something that gets over corrected through weeks two, three,
and four. So what that said was what we saw
from Lamar Jackson? Is that legit improvement with having in
Marcus Brown as a go to receiver now and what
looks to be a solid running game with mark ingram

(43:50):
Is is he developed or is that more about the
Dolphins being putrid? I think you could answer both ways.
I think you could say, Look, I mean, is is'
Lamar Jackson putting up a one fifty eight point three
raiding the rest of the year. No, I'm gonna go
out on a limb and say that's not gonna happen.
But I think he's better and and it's totally understandable.
I don't know why there were such impatience with this guy.

(44:12):
He Yes, he had a terrible playoff game last year. Yeah,
he wasn't great throwing the ball last year. You know
a list every single quarterback that had to improve after
their rookie year. Every single one of them had to
improve after the rookie year. Dan Marino and Joe Montana
and John Elway and Patter Blons and every other one
of them. Why wasn't Lamar Jackson given that same patience
when it came to his passing. He improved a Louisville,

(44:35):
He had some skills. He came in nit season last
year for an injured Joe Flacco, and they built office
around him. They said, let's let's figure out a way
to win. And they did. There was seven one down
the stretch and they made the playoffs, won the division.
And we didn't give him any patience. We just said, oh,
he can't pass the ball, he's not good enough. He's
a running back. As he alluded to this his post
James press conference, I was fully on board with Hey,

(44:57):
let's see, let's see if he approves it. I think
he isn't prooved. I don't think he's gonna throw a
five touchdowns every week, and that is that the Dolphins
might get up five touchdowns every week. But I think
with R. Jackson could be a good passer, and we
know he's a great runner. You're not gonna have many
six shark games again like he did today. So once
you combine those two, if he's even above average of
the past or boy, I don't know how you stop

(45:19):
the Ravens. Because he is, He's maybe the toughest weapon
to stop in the NFL. If that's the case, all right, right,
hey Frank, what about what about the Cowboys? I mean,
my goodness, man, they are looking awesome. They finally got
a good defense. Their offense is just I mean, you
gotta worry about it with all the weapons, obviously with Ezekiel,
and you've got Cooper doc Is coming into his own.
With the win today, they've already clinched the NFC East.

(45:42):
It looks like so um, it's just there. They look
at the best, even the NFC. To be Frank, they
could still look. I still think the Eagles are right there.
The Eagles are loaded. Eagles. Did you see them? I
saw him in a second half when they put up
straight points whatever it was. Carson went through four touchdowns. Look,

(46:04):
they didn't play anybody in the preseason, and he came
out a little rusty in the first half. And they
blew the doors off of him in the second half.
I had the Eagles are loaded. There's sort of Cowboys
that's gonna be a great race. And I think that
it's it's not just that Jack has always been a
good player. We we overreact to everything. Dac has to
be just the end of the world, or he's the
m v P or you know, after his Jurkie year

(46:25):
put him in the Hall of Fame. Halfway through last year,
we were going to ditch him for you know, to
bring back Danny White, or it's Steve Walls or somebody,
you know. And there's some middle ground here where Dak
is a good, solid player, especially when he has good
players around him. Amar he's very good. And I'll tell
you this is Michael Gallup, their second year guy on
the car around state. He's awesome. He is gonna be

(46:48):
one of the best number two receivers in football this year.
So you put good guys around Dak Prescott, he could
play really, really well if the Cowboys could be a
really good football team. But I'll tell you I ain't
given up on the Eagles. Yeah, I picked him to
win the MC So I'm going to stick with that.
I think that that teams loaded. I think the Cowboys
might be one of the best wild card teams. We
see it all a long time. How about I know
that the story from Cleveland was about oh the Browns

(47:10):
all the high we got too carried away. But man,
Marcus Mariota and Derrick Henry, they smelled blood and that
defense stood up in a big way. If I if
I'm Mike Rabel today, I'm I'm feeling pretty good about
that start. That was impressive. Yeah, absolutely, I mean Mariota
needed that I and he's he's a guy, he's kind
of the ropes. He's going to get this extension. He's

(47:30):
either guy going forward. He saw the other guy in
that draft, Jamos Winston kind of not answer that question today.
Let's say that so primarily Ooda to come out and
just be efficient. Look, he's never gonna be an m
VP candidate, that's not who he is. But can he
be efficient with Derrick Henry carrying a load? Yeah, I
think he could be that kind of a guy. The Titans,
I think are well coached. They showed that last year.

(47:53):
They probably make the playoffs last year of Mariota stays
healthy and that's still a question because he never has
stayed healthy. But I think this Titans team look glose
in the a f C South, really impresses you. I mean,
it's the Indianapolis fond heart today. But I don't think
I was the same team without Andrew Luck at the
news flash. I think Houston's got their issues, but they
probably have the most top end talent. Then you know,

(48:13):
Jacksonville's gonna be without Nick Foles for a while, So
why not the Titans. I mean they're again world coach,
solid on offense, solid on defense. I don't think you're
great in anyway, but the show look good today, and hey,
if they can keep this going, why not win that division?
They probab got of all your predictions. If I gave
you a mulligan, where you already know okay, I'm already
wrong on that prediction. Which one would you change if

(48:34):
I gave you a mulligan? Right off the bat, I
actually picked the Cowboys not to make the playoffs. I thought, yeah,
because I'm I'm so high on the Eagles. I'm so
high in the Eagles that I thought, and the other
look here, it looked the last year we forget the
Cowboys were three and five last year, and then in
the second half of the season they hit every green
light and every close game. They were five and one

(48:56):
and closed in games the side of my lesson of
touched on something like that, So I was a little
bit scartle. But you're watching them today and it's yeah,
the Cowboys are good like they're they're really talented. My
my coworker, Charles Robins, was out at their camp and
it was like, dude, this seems loaded. Man. Don't sleep
on him, and I did, So I take that one back.
I sit the Cowboys in that. Take that again. Now

(49:18):
you mentioned the Jaguars and it doesn't look like Nick
Foles is going to be back this year. And maybe
I'm getting too carried away here, but do you think
there's a chance they could be in the market for
a quarterback? I mean, everyone's trying to get off the Dolphins,
and I don't know if the Giants might be willing
to move Eli. But is there a chance that Jaguars
can make a move for a quarterback here if they
feel good about their roster. I just don't know what

(49:40):
you can do. I really don't like anybody who's available
now isn't really going to help you that much. You're
just bandating things like let's say, Eli, I don't think
that's gonna happen, but let's see him really the turning
around joshull like learning a new new scheme and week
two I don't. It's just it's there are reasons these
guys are available, there's reasons these guys are on the street,
and I just don't see anybody kind of saving the

(50:02):
Jaguars at this point. It's thinks it's look, they had
all this excitement. Hey, Nick Foles isn't the greatest quarterback
in the world. He's sure better in Blake Boardles and
you know, hey, the he can make the offense hume
a little bit better. The defense is gonna be good again.
The division's wide open, and by the end of the
first quarter, that's all gone, and you know Nick Foles
is going to be, like you said, done the whole season,

(50:23):
most of the seen whatever it is. So it just
thinks that that what can you do. You can say
this about most of the teams in the NFL. You
lose the starting quarterback in week one, first quarter, that
there's no there's no plan B. There's really nothing's gonna
save you here unless you know Kurt Warner's backing up
Trent Green, and it just doesn't happen that way too often. So, hey,
good luck to the Jaguars, but we're probably seeing them

(50:44):
just go through another really, really tough, disappointing season wasting
his defense again, Hey, Frank, who looked better? Seattle in
their wind and Russell Wilson throne for listed two hundred
yards or Cincinnati and their loss, and then the daltonsne
for four hundred yards and a couple of touchdowns. Yeah,
I'll tell you what I was impressed with since. And
that's a tough place to play. I don't know if
you guys have been there, but it is loud, it

(51:05):
is crazy. It is a really intense environment. And for
the Cincinnati Bengals with the problems under offensive line, they
lost Joe Mixing in that game. Obviously didn't have a
j Green in that game. So I'm gonna come out,
rookie head coach play as well as they did. It's
not Cincinnati. I'm getting on the play and I'm feeling
pretty good about myself. Not great. That's a lost obviously,
But you're saying there a lot of positives in there.

(51:25):
We can we could build on that. I thought Andy
looked really good through the ball. Well, John Ross, Hey,
welcome to the NFL. Kid. I mean if all the
time you showed up. So, I mean if once they
get if they can get a j Green healthy. I
think a Joe mixing isn't you know that ankle injury
isn't too bad. I don't think it is. You know,
you you can start to think, hey, maybe we could Pete,
maybe we you know, we could we could stay in

(51:47):
these games? Are our head coach is kind of an
offensive genius. Everybody thinks he is, so you know, yeah,
I was very impressive Bengal. I wasn't impressed with the
Seattle think you didn't have to win. Good for them,
But I was watching that whole game and I thought
the Bengal, we're a better team didn't win? Is Seattle
get a lot better? Because that was not very impressive.
Frank Schwab is in the house, Adde Yahoo Swab on Twitter.

(52:08):
Frank last one for me and I'm here. I feel
like we say this a lot. Are we sleeping on blank?
One of the performances today that neither Arnie nor I
have talked about yet in our first hour and fifteen
minutes is what Minnesota did. Yeah, I feel like I'm
on a continual. Atlanta is getting back to the super Bowl,
and it just it doesn't seem like it's happening. With
that in mind, man, Dalvin Cook looked good today, and

(52:31):
so did this Minnesota offense and defense. They might, Uh,
it's gonna be fun year in the NFC North. I think, oh,
really fun. I mean that it's really really fun. Too
bad Detroit stinks again, you know, blowing that game today.
The you know, the Vikings are one of the ys
me for a mulligan. If I could take an overall mulligan,
how about my Minnesota Vikings to win a Super Bowl
pick last year? Can I think that one? Maybe? You know,

(52:53):
it's one of those things sometimes you're just a year
too early. They had to get used to Cousins. They
weren't playing style they wanted to which on Filippo there
they wanted Zimmer wanted to get back to let's run
the ball, let's control the game a little bit, Let's
win with our defense. And Dalvin Cook and boy, you know,
he asked Kirk Cousins do a little bit less. He
could be more efficient, and Delvin looked amazing. I looked

(53:14):
like every run he had it looked like he was
shot out of a can and looked really explosive. That team,
maybe we were just I maybe personally was this year
two early on them, and then they're going to really
be a lot better this year. Kirk isn't a terrible quarterback.
He's just just a guy hasn't won big games, which
is kind of an issue, and he's still gonna have
to do that. But yeah, I think a Viking is
gonna absolutely be very, very good this year. I think

(53:36):
the Packard is gonna be fantastic this year. I'm not
righting off the Bears yet to even though they looked
bad on Thursday night, and that's one of the best
three way races in the NFL. I think that, you know,
I could. That's one of the reasons I had to
Cowboys kind of squeezed out of the playoffs because you
look at the wild card spots in the NFC, really
good teams, really really good teams left out of the
playoffs because there's only two spots to go around, and

(53:57):
there's a lot of quality teams in their conference. Rank
your off, so man, we appreciate you coming on. Follow
Frank on Twitter at Yahoo Swab and we look forward
to doing this again, good again against soon really good stuff. Man,
appreciate it alright. That is Frank Schwab. We have breaking news,
Steve Seger. What's going on? Breaking news. The Red Sox

(54:20):
won the World Series last year. They have just parted
ways though with Dave Dombrowski. He is out as team president.
Assistant general manager Eddie Ramero takes over as head of
baseball operations. But after the game, which did finally end
tonight in Boston Yankees ten five the final Boston makes
this announcement again. A hundred eight wins and a World

(54:40):
Series title literally less than twelve months ago. Oh, the
guy is doing a horrible job. You look at the
contracts he gave out a Chrysale extension. That guy's get
like hundreds of millions of dollars. He's not even gonna
win double digit games the rest of his career. Well,
this will solve that. Good Bye, yes, goodbye this right
this is right in Arnie's wheelhouse. This is probably a

(55:02):
regular topic of conversation at his local show up in
uh Ver. Mom Red Sox just got equal treatment with
the Patriots on a game night. This is kind of
amazing in New England breaking news. Davidkrowski is out. Will
continue to monitor this. But when we come back to
the Geico Fox Sports Radio studios, let's say to Vegas,
Todd Ferman from f s Ones lock it in his

(55:22):
next right here with Arnie and Blank on a Fox
Football Sunday Zarni and Plank on Fox Sports Radio eight seven,
seven ninety nine on Fox eight seven seven six three
six nine. So a little breaking news here that Arnie
covers daily, I guess is a fair way to put it, right,
Arnie with Dave Dombrowski out, So before we get back

(55:46):
to the NFL, can you just kind of take us
through how big of a story this is and whether
or not you saw this coming. Was this festering? Did
you think this was a possibility? Oh? Absolutely, We We
talked about this, you know, a lot during a course
the last couple of weeks, but mostly Don Browski has
been um kind of separated himself from the team. Matter

(56:07):
of fact, there was a report that he was like
hiding out in his office and seriously and that you
never really saw him. Remember he's the one that gave
Chris Sail that extension. He gave a five year extension.
This guy won't win double digits um the rest of
his career. Uh. Of course the price money um. And
I don't know how much he's involved. When it was
Sandoval and all the other bogus contracts, you still got

(56:28):
the Petroia contract taking over his head and not have
been his. But overall, the Red Sox are in really
bad shape. They're not gonna have money to how much
money they could have to sign a Mookie Bets or
been attendee when his contract comes up. Um, Jackie Bradley Jr.
Martinez is probably going to opt out. Um, even though
they want a World Series last year, the squad's really

(56:50):
in disarray when it comes to finances. They had to
move on from this guy. Man. Uh, it's it's interesting
because he won the World Series last year. I mean
you're talking about this isn't a manager obviously, but this
is a an integral part of that team. So Dave
Dombrowski has been canned tonight. Formal announcement will come tomorrow.

(57:13):
I don't the sacred do you do you have a
preference as to who we give kudos to our credit here.
I don't I saw Jeff Jeff Passing first on my
should take credit for it. I've been talking about it
for months, and of course they of course have to
give up double digits to the rival Yankees on the night. Okay,
let's announce it now. Everybody sick of it? What's going
on right now? Because of tonight? They're mad at this moment,

(57:34):
So let's just announce it now. You know, in the
eighteen games they played the Yankees this year, they've given
up a hundred and twenty runs against one team and
it's their rival team. And so after ten tonight, yeah,
let's announce it now. Yeah, Jeff Passon had the breaking
beautiful all right, so I I misspoke. Todd Ferman is
coming up with this next segment, and then we'll kick

(57:55):
off our final hour with buyers selling some thoughts from today.
So what are you say, Arnie? We hit the Twitter
machine for a few things to get into from tonight
at Stink Ingenius One. That's Arnie, the best way to
stay in touch with the stinking genius at Stink Ingenius One.
I'm at Plank Show, though. All I ever do is
tweet about OHU and Raiders stuff, and everybody should be
following us at Fox Sports Radio. All right, here's a

(58:18):
few Pelichick just retired after hearing the stink Ingenius picked
him to go to the Super Bowl. Is this true
or not? I don't think it's true. Yeah, I even
my curse can't go ahead and screw that up there
on their way. There's nobody that can stop them. Maybe
if the Kansas City Chiefs, but their defense doesn't look
like it's really that much better than it was last year.
Just put the Patriots in the super Bowl. There's something

(58:38):
I am worried about with the Chiefs. Arnie. There was
one thing that happened during today's game that's got me
a little bit worried for the Chiefs. The rolled ankle
for Patrick Mahomes. I mean, again, I know what's went
to the gusted protocol tent or whatever you call it,
came back out, didn't miss a play because there was

(58:58):
a review or something like that. Yeah, So again, I'm
not gonna get too carried away here because as Arnie
eloquently put it, he did not miss a play. But
I mean that's gotta be a little bit concerning, right,
he wasn't really truly, I say, he wasn't himself and
he threw for almost four hundred yards? What about Tyred Kale?
What happened there? That was kind of concerning the more

(59:19):
more than anything. The more I read about that, the
more scary that truly seems, because that looks like something
that could have been. Oh my gosh, Dare I say,
aren't almost life threatened with the way that they one?
Maybe so, I uh, we'll learn more about that. But
I mean, this is a this is a Chief team
that looked apart and man, Sammy Watkins. Keep in mind,

(59:42):
Sammy Watkins was a top five pick in the NFL
draft and kinda he went right before clil Mac as
a matter of fact, and he's imploded through most of
his career statistically nothing off the field, but man, he
looks like he's found something here in Kansas City this year.
You want to catch passes from Mahomes or Josh Allen.
That's a great question already. I'm gonna have to think
about that one during the commercial break, and I'll give

(01:00:04):
you an answer later. Uh. Fernando writes, it's early, but
if the Raiders one on Monday night, are we gonna
say they're Super Bowl contenders. Yes, absolutely we are. Uh.
Mike sentis a photo of the official Viking store and
said they've already taken down the Dolphins helmet because there's
such an embarrassment to the NFL. He's not lying. There's
thirty two helmets up, aren't the Dolphins? One is missing?
Are we gonna what's it called, relegate them? Are we

(01:00:26):
gonna go like we do in soccer and just kick
him to another league? Sol or something? You know, that's
a great idea. That's a great idea, Arenie. Cowboys and
Patriots right right? Isaac won't even be in the division championship.
The Giants and Steelers are both bad. Cowboys won't even
make the playoffs after week one. I see the winner
of the Vikings versus the Saints playing the winner the

(01:00:49):
Ravens and Chiefs. Why you need to leave the talking
sports to us experts? Please? All right, please leave it
to us experts. If you're an attorney, you don't represent yourself.
If you're a doctor, you don't operate on yourself, and
leave the sports talk up to us experts. You can
hurt yourself seriously very bad doing that. I like the
way you put that, aren't that's well done? I don't agree. Uh,

(01:01:12):
and then I know we gotta break little Chui rites.
Artie is so right. Goodbye, Tomlin. I wish you could
say that all night, especially when I got called crazy
by two people on Twitter for saying the Steelers will
miss the playoffs. Done so done, all right. When we
come back to the getic Fox Sports Radio studios are
Buddy Todd Ferman will join us. But again, it's a
big night, not just because it's Week one of the NFL,

(01:01:33):
but breaking news taking center stage and Steve de Sager
slides in Yeah Boston. Tonight, the Red Sox lost ten
five to the Yankees. Yankees, like Houston, have a record
of ninety four and fifty, which just a few weeks
left in the regular season battle for the top overall seed.
The Red Sox announced after the loss tonight they've parted
ways with team president Dave Dombrowski. The Houston win today

(01:01:54):
was one one over Seattle. The lost to Felix Hernandez.
Yes he's still in the major leagues. Mariners have lost
six in a row. Felix Hernandez is one in six
e r a around seven the winning pitcher for Houston,
Garrett cole I read it was his birthday. Eight innings,
fifteen strikeouts. Not bad. The guy's sixteen and five this year.
And the Dodgers a five nothing winner over San Francisco.

(01:02:15):
Their magic number is down to two. They could clinch
Tuesday or Wednesday in Baltimore. That would be their seventh
straight n L West title. Kent and Maeda got the
win in relief. Today Dodgers have ninety three wins, ninety
three and fifty two. Tonight's ball game, well, let's just
say Pittsburgh got blown out at one point on NBC
of it was false start Steelers. Who is it on?

(01:02:38):
Except for the center that explain everybody except for Arnie.
It was that kind of night. New England thirty three
three the final, Tom Brady three touchdown passes, one yards
through the air, Stephen Guskowski four for four on field goals.
Chargers in overtime beat Indianapolis thirty to twenty four. Running

(01:02:59):
back all Ston Ekeler with three touchdowns, including the game winner.
By the way, Philip Rivers. This was his two d
ninth consecutive start. Needless to say, he's moving up the
list He's past Peyton Manning for a third most by
a quarterback in NFL history, and it was another three
yr game. Forum Rivers sixty three three yard games in

(01:03:20):
his career, he has tied Dan Marino for fourth most
in that category. That's stat department in nf I. Well,
there's gonna be some sly Super Bowl comment from someone
coming through the radio as soon as you mentioned those
two names. Detroit at Arizona overtime till the final Cardinals
had trailed six early in the fourth quarter Dallas in Seattle,

(01:03:44):
with wins San Francisco and Tennessee as well. It was
the Titans winning at Cleveland. The Browns committed eighteen penalties,
Baker Mayfield through three interceptions all in the fourth, sacked
five times, and Baltimore's win was at Miami Lamar Jackson
five touchdown passes for the Ravens. They had mark ingram

(01:04:04):
Now fourteen carries a hundred seven yards and two scores,
Marks brown On only four receptions a hundred forty seven
yards and two scores for Baltimore. Rafael Nadal won the
US Open in five sets, six five, six four. In
the fifth he had won the first couple of sets
lost the next couple to danil Medvedev, and in NASCAR,
Kevin Harvick won the race easily at Indie. The guys

(01:04:26):
are back in ten seconds. First, a word from Farmers
at Farmers Insurance. We know a roof can withstand a lot,
one exception being an airborne car. I've seen it, covered it.
Dr Farmers, we are Farmers underwritten my Farmers truck Fire

which way is easier. It's Darnian Plank. Todd Ferman fs

(01:05:08):
ones lock it in joins us live from Vegas. Uh
My always leave question for you. Todd thumbs up, thumbs down.
Good day, bad day for the books. You know what,
haven't gotten a full report yet Chris from the books
to find out how they did. But when you look
over some of the results and know the marquee games
of the day, I can't anticipate it was a great
opening Sunday, given the fact that some of the biggest

(01:05:30):
public liability in the early games came in the form
of the Baltimore Ravens, who obviously cruised, winning by forty
nine points against the Miami Dolphins, Kansas City getting to
the window as modest three point favorites, and of course
the Rams bet down by professionals to one and a
half but ultimately covering by a field goal, all of
course culminating in the Patriots domination of the Pittsburgh Steelers.
So I don't anticipate a great report, but can't stay

(01:05:52):
with certainty just yet. Todd I liked the beout a
two team parlay, the Dolphins going oh in sixteen to
the Giants going in sixteen? What can I get odds
on that? Or what You're gonna have to shop around
a little bit for odds on that. But I don't
want to say it's all a doom and gloom prognosis
for either team. Yet Miami ran into a buzz saw
today in the Formulamar Jackson, who looks to it, maybe

(01:06:13):
turned a corner as a downfield pass or with some
of the new weapons he surrounded by. Meanwhile, the Giants
they looked ill equipped to cover anybody, and that the
Cowboys sent running through the secondary. But I don't think
either team will go winless. The Dolphins though a bigger
favorite to do so than the Giant. Todd Todd, Wait, Todd, Todd?
Did did you see the game? Todd? What? What would
stop me from betting against the Dolphins every week? New

(01:06:34):
England be Pittsburgh by thirty throwing fourteen point favorite. Now,
what are they gonna do the Dolphins next week? I'll
just bet against them every week. Well, you can bet
against them every week, but that's not exactly a one
to one correlation for them going win this. Arni, you
do realize the next fifteen games they play aren't all
against New England. Correct? That's a fantastic point. Now, Todd,

(01:06:56):
how do you not pulling Arny here and knee jerk
and want to get too angry about what happens after
week one? You're a calm, cool, collected guy. You keep
your wits about you. How do you do that and
not overreact to what you see week to week in
the NFL. Oh, don't get me wrong, guys, it's I'm
not gonna say that the Dolphins are gonna be a
good football team. I think they're downright attrocian. But the
point spread becomes a great equalizer. So it's just a

(01:07:18):
matter of how high the oddsmakers have to go to
try and entice some action both ways. When you look
at the number, next week, New England is going to
be about a sixteen and sixteen and a half point
favorite on the road in a building where they haven't
exactly fared all that well. Some level of familiarity between
the coaching staffs of course, um, but you just try
and identify spots. You don't have to beat on all
these teams every week. You don't have to bet against

(01:07:38):
them every week. So the perfect illustration is a game
like the Cincinnati Bengals. Yes, they lose to the Seattle
Seahawks end up covering, of course, is an eight and
a half point underdog, but they dominated that football game
for extended stretches. So you look to try and find
spots maybe to bet against Seattle or perception is one
way as early as next week when the Steelers will
try and bounce back at home and see where the
Bengals can get over the hump as they'll take on

(01:08:00):
the forty Niners, who play their second straight road game
in the Eastern time zone? Hodd, Who is better than
your thought? Who was worse than you thought? Well? I
think Dak Prescott was outstanding UM in the debut for
the Cowboys, throwing for over four yards and four touchdowns,
So he really impressed me. I was high on Lamar
this offseason, didn't quite think he'd come out this way,
uh to build some confidence, albeit against the Dolphins, and

(01:08:22):
then you look at Kansas City as a glass half full.
They lose Tyreek Hill. We're not quite sure how long
he'll be out with that collarbone issue. Sammy Watkins steps
up and reminds us why he can be so explosive
when he's healthy and on the field. Nine eleven targets Now,
as far as disappointments are concerned, I think that Jacksonville
Jaguars defense should be ashamed of itself. They really never
gave them a puncher's chance whatsoever to try and stay competitive. Um.

(01:08:46):
When I look at some of the other results the
Jets offense. Yes, Jamison Crowder became the ultimate possession receiver,
Laby and Bell showed flashes, but for the most part,
the Jets were in apt moving the football and if
it wasn't for four turnovers from Buffalo, they probably get
out in that game or maybe muster field goal, and then,
of course I'm gonna take the low hanging fruit. I
don't know what Pittsburgh did the entire offseason are prepared

(01:09:07):
for tonight because the three of us could have gone
out there and put together a better offensive game plan
than Mike Tomlin did with his staff. That was hard
to watch, wasn't it? And you know, I again I
have not brought up the A B word on this
show today because I'm still gonna let myself be excited
for Monday night football. But with that in mind, you
what did Antonio Brown mean that much to him? I mean,

(01:09:29):
and again I know that the whole word is all.
It's addition by subtraction, We're gonna be fine. But holy smokes,
how can a team that appeared to be rolling through
about maybe twelve of the seventeen weeks last year, Todd,
how can the bottom fall out so much for a
Pittsburgh team who looked just lost tonight. Well, I don't
want to hit the panic button just yet. Pittsburgh has
always struggled at Fox Brogan's Tom Brady and Bill Belichick,

(01:09:51):
so this was deja vu all over again. And I
think what gets lost in New England when we talk
about their offense the acquisition of Antonio Brown Josh Gordon
being available and put there on the field, is how
good this defense has actually become. It's one of the
league's best secondaries, and Juju is gonna have to try
and step up his game. He's going to draw the
ire of the number one corner on opposing teams. And
when you look at some of the secondary options for

(01:10:12):
the Steelers in the passing game, nobody rose the occasion.
Dante Moncrief looks like an absolute bust, and I think
they have to do a better job of getting Vance
McDonald involved the Steeler's offense. Boggs down next week against
the Seahawks, who gave a four hundred plus yards to
Andy Dalton, then it may be time to really be
concerned about what their identity is going to be without
the services of Antonio Brown. Is there going to be

(01:10:32):
a bunch of Antonio Brown um prop bets, you know, like,
well you have a hundred yards, a hundred catches, twelve
hundred yards, twelve touchdowns and stuff like that, would you
be at over on numbers like those. I think Antonio
Brown is going to have a massive season if he
can keep his head on straight and buy into the
Patriots culture. We'll see how that ultimately works out. If

(01:10:55):
his personality and desire to be the center of attention
ultimately trumps everything in New England is built. If he
goes out there and performs at his highest level like
he did early on as a member of the Steelers,
there's no doubt, Arny, he can go for a hundred
plus yards. He's going to have between ten and twelve touchdowns,
if not more. That can have a very similar impact
on this Patriots offense that Randy Moss did years ago.

(01:11:16):
The scariest part in all of this is when did
the Patriots pick up the phone and go, hey, Rob, Rob,
do you want to be a part of this offense
and get Rob Gronkowski back in the fold maybe for
Week ten as they try and go after a seven
super Bowl. Since the early two thousands, just wants your
opinion on this. And again, I don't know that the
Patriots have been kind of been the reclamation place over
the last twenty years. But do you think part of

(01:11:39):
this was accelerated because of what the Chiefs are able
to do offensively? And yes, they won last year and
they and they won the Super Bowl, but do they
not see what's young and the gun slinging nature of
this Chief offense and had to say we got to
get every weapon we possibly can in New England. Oh,
there's no doubt in my mind. I think New England,
whether they'll openly admit it or not, has to go.
We have to count our lucky stars because if D

(01:12:01):
four doesn't go off sides in the A s C Championship,
New England doesn't even have a chance to beat the
Rams and bring their six Super Bowl crown to Foxbro.
So when you look at the way the league is
going with an aging quarterback that's more than capable of
still performing at such a high level, you need those
weapons out there in space. You saw how New England
reinvented themselves late in the campaign last year, becoming a
power run game. And I don't think it's by happenstance

(01:12:23):
or coincidence that, for the first time I believe since
Tom Brady took over starting quarterback, they draft a wide
receiver in the first round into Kill Harry, who ends
up on I R. So it creates a void in
the offense. Low and behold. Antonio Brown goes through his
temper tantrum, gets released by the Raiders and kind of
falls into the Patriots lap. Yeah, they took the wrong
wide receiver, wrong rookie wide receiver to take Todd After

(01:12:45):
watching Week one, what were you wrong about coming into
this week? Well, I thought Jacksonville was able to was
gonna be able to solve some of the issues defensively,
and clearly one game isn't reason to be nervous. But
uh doesn't seem to be too vintage two thousand seventeen.
It teams a lot more like the unit we saw
for extended stretches last year and it's only one game

(01:13:07):
again for Tampa, I really thought that Jamis Winston was
going to be the beneficiary of Byron Leftwich as his
OC and Bruce arians but the decision making was still
was poor. And you look at that Tampa offense that
really struggled for I'll call most of the game outside
of a drive here there. So let's see what happens
with Jamis. But if today was any indication, uh, he
will not be a member of the Bucks for that

(01:13:28):
much long. But what about Baker Mayfield and his three interceptions? Well,
I wasn't really all that high on Baker coming into
the season. I thought there was a real potential for
a sophomore slump. The here's what the Browns did wrong
this entire offseason. We can applaud Baker. Chris, you know
if you need to sit this one out because you're
too close the situation. I understand for the bluster and
bravado that's gotten him to play at such a high level.

(01:13:49):
I don't diminish any of his accomplishments, whether what he
did at Oklahoma or in his rookie campaign. But you
have to be careful in this league. You don't want
to fire up opposing defenses. And Cleveland's not gonna sneak
up on everybody. You heard the Tennessee Titans say they
took it personally. They wanted to make a statement and
when you have defensive players, so the Titans come out
after the game and say, hey, we could have picked
Baker off five times, not just three. This is what

(01:14:10):
the Browns are going to get week in week out.
We'll see if Baker can raise his level of play
because he he has to be better than what we
saw today. Yeah, and you hope he learns from it
if you're a Cleveland fan, and I'm sure he will. Hey,
one final thought from me before we let you on.
I'm sure he's got a thousand Uh does L s
U have an offense now? I mean? Or is this
just getting good against the big twelve defense? Because that's

(01:14:31):
all I ever here. I mean, they they went out
and slung the ball around. Texas was able to move
it on them as well too. But man, I was
impressed with Joe Burrow in the game plan they had
on Saturday night in Austin. You know what, I think
a lot of people, Chris, We're gonna go, hey, look,
we're gonna reserve judgment. It was Georgias Southern in the
open or let's not try and anoint them the second coming.
But the fact that we saw a change in L
s US identity, The effectiveness wasn't there in the first quarter.

(01:14:54):
They got their Sea legs under and perform well, but
late in the game when they had a chance to
run the football a toun like we would have seen
from l FOOT teams in the past. That Joe Burrow
is still out there throwing it all over the yard.
And if this is what l SU wants to do
to compete in two thousand nineteen, I had them as
a top five team coming into the year. I'll make
the case that they're is good right now, maybe as
the Alabama's and Clemsons of the world, not with hyper belief.

(01:15:15):
They get offensive performances. And when you look at the
odds for Joe Burrow, this is a guy two wondering
the summer to win the Heisman. He's now down to
six to one and he's gonna have a chance to
fatten up even further next week on Northwestern State before
they start to get into the throws of dealing with
the rugged SEC West. Oh and then I got to ask,
just because I'm a blatant homer, when Antonio Brown was

(01:15:37):
I guess moved on from by the Raiders. Did that
did that affect kind of any of your season? Total
thoughts are how you perceived things for the Silver and
black Well, the Raiders that were a team I was
down on coming into the year. I was a little
bit surprised that they were upwards of fifty two one
to win the Super Bowl. Those numbers have kind of
gone crashing down to a hundred. We saw their win
total get that under from six to five and a half.
And you could even find their win total now some

(01:15:59):
spots if five. But you wonder for the guys that
are left behind if this becomes a galvanizing force. The
problem for the Raiders if they don't win tomorrow, they
may not win for seven weeks. And when you look
at the way their schedule shapes up. After playing two
home games in a row against Denver in Kansas City,
they won't play another true home game until the calendar
hits November. It's crazy. Thanks Todd. We appreciate it, buddy.

(01:16:20):
Always great stuff. When we'll watch you tomorrow n locking
in you got it. Always a pleasure, guys, And already
congrats to your beloved Wildcats big win over the Lumberjacks
this weekend. Tears in my eyes, Todd Tears of that's
Todd Firm and Fox Sports one FS one. You can
hear him and watch him tomorrow. Always being sarcastic. I
know that. I come on Arnie's he's gotta feel good

(01:16:42):
about that win for you, man. There's no sarcasm involved
at all. All right. When we come back to the
guy goed Fox Sports Radio Studios, the seger gets as
caught up on the breaking news of the night. Dave
Dombrowski is out in Boston. More of your tweets and
stock up, stock down around the corner with Darnie and
Plank on Fox Sports Radio Radio eight seven, seven ninety

(01:17:04):
nine on Fox your tweets, By the way, here's one
real quick that's pretty good, Plank. I have a feeling
you didn't need to become in tonight. It sounds like
Arnie isn't going to give up the mike much. You
wouldn't have to. You could just go you're fired up tonight.
I like it. Why does that guy always say last
hour of the FSR weekends? Why are we not the
first hour of the Monday through Friday? I mean, technically

(01:17:26):
it is after midnight on the coast. Why aren't we
the first show? No respect, Arnie, that's what it is.
It's no respect. And then lost in the Sauce rights
my knee jerk reaction, fire coach Shermer and Gettleman losing
O B J Snacks Collins Vernon and expect to be
better then drafting a quarterback and keeping Eli's large contract. Yeah, man,

(01:17:48):
I'm I know the Cowboys are good, and I know
there weren't high expectations for the Giants, But Annie, I
think it's okay to be a little bit bent after
that Week one performance. If you're a New York Giants
fan and Ownes came in and fumbled, I don't hear
people going he's got to replace. See why I get
that guy in there? None of that was being uh,
you know, bantered about after that game. Uh. And then
I like this from Shady Shawn forts One who writes,

(01:18:11):
let's talk more Titans there one in what want to
know who? With a win over the almighty Cleveland Brown.
I like it. I like it all right. Steve de
Sager is in the house as he is every single
Sunday night at this moment, too, gets caught up on
everything that's going on in a little non football news tonight. Right,

(01:18:32):
that's right. Red Sox parting ways with the team president
Dave Dombrowski after they lost it home to the Yankees
tonight and in New England tonight, the Patriots beat Pittsburgh
thirty three to three. Stephen Gaskowski four for four on
field goals got an injury update from the Colts. NFL
Networks is wide receiver Devin Functious broke his collar bone
late in regulation, apparently on a play going for a

(01:18:54):
touchdown on what the drive. They tied the game late
in regulation, and the wide receiver, coming over from Carol Line,
had signed a one year deal where seven million guaranteed
with the Colds potentially ten mill. Broken collar bone is
the report. Marlon Mack today had only twenty one yards
rushing first half for Indie by the end of the
third quarter, one on the ground in sixteen carries. He

(01:19:17):
finished with one seventy four and a touchdown. But Adam Vinitari,
who turns forty in December, did something that literally he'd
never done before in his career. He missed two field
goal attempts and an extra point in the same game.
So despite this great second half comeback, that meant they
only tied the game at the end of regulation and

(01:19:37):
then they lost the coin toss and never touched the
ball at over time. Chargers win thirty to twenty four.
He'll be some old age lawsuit on that one. We'll
have to dive into more coming up next hour. He'll
have the top of the hour update, Buy or sell,
stock up, stock down, and Arnie's picks are all right
around the corner. It's what everybody. They came forward tonight

(01:20:01):
your calls eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox. More
of your tweets coming up as well. It's Arnie and
Plank on the first NFL Fox Football Sunday. All right,
let's go into the final hour with Arnie span your
on Chris Plank. It's Arnie in Plank on Fox Sports
Radio eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox as we

(01:20:24):
come to you live tonight from the Geico Fox Sports
Radio Studios. Fifteen minutes could save you fifteen cent or
more on car insurance. Visit guy dot com for a
free rate quote. Has anything throughout this night? Arnie made
you feel any better about any of your teams? Tomorrow
when you a little bit better see again. But they

(01:20:47):
have to get crushed if they like lose by a
field goal. That's not gonna make me happy. They have
really have to get you know, smoked, they really do.
You really how that's insane that you would take joy
in someone else's team. What am I gonna take joy
in the Dolphins winning? That's not happening. By the way,
I saw that graphic where the Patriots in their next

(01:21:07):
seven games play it played teams that haven't even won
a game yet. All of them are and one except
for one team Buffalo, and they're one to know and
they stink. I mean everyone's pretty much only played one game,
so yeah, but I mean they're all oh and one.
Every team that's on one they got on the schedule, right,
Ernie rites. And I think this might actually help back
up your point. Uh, the first eight games the Patriots

(01:21:29):
play this season or against teams that didn't even make
the playoffs last year, So the stinking genius could be
right for once. At least, Dolphins are gonna go out
and beat the Patriots next week. Patriots have the a
f C East is the worst division in sports. Um,
it is pathetic. Now, I thought it was gonna be bad.
I didn't know it's gonna be this bad. I mean
the Dolphins, the Jets, and and and the Bills can't

(01:21:51):
get out of their own way. I'm surprised that game
didn't end up in the tie. It's it's horrible. Well,
I still am a little bit perplexed speaking of the
game ending up in a tie between the Lions and
the Cardinals. You know last year Frank Reich did that
with the Colts, went for it, rest it and in
the I don't remember. I think it was the Texans. Yeah,

(01:22:13):
Texans ended up winning the game and he was crushed forward.
I think in that situation, I'm gonna go for it anyway,
aren't you. Aren't you gonna go for the win instead
of knowing that even though they almost got the turnover
and won the game anyway because Matt Stafford through it
right to a Cardinal, but you got it. You gotta
try to score there, right, even though it's fourth and nine.
You've gotta try, don't depend It depends on the situation

(01:22:34):
where you have the ball. You just don't go ahead
and go for it on fourth and ten, backed up
in your own area. I understand that you can't. You
can't just go ahead and give away a win. UM
and has to be in the right situation. I don't
like UM we've got to extend over time to fifteen
minutes because we're gonna get too many ties doing this way.
And we just changed it too, which is the funniest
part of all of this. We just shifted it. Let's

(01:22:55):
get a few more. Let's get a few more your
tweets rolling in here throughout the night. They've been great.
Of course, Arnie is that stinking genius one. I'm at
Plank show. Here's a good one. Uh might as well
combine Arnie's Wildcats and Miami Dolphins together when playing the Patriots,
and then a b steps on the field. You think
if you combine the Wildcats and the Dolphins, then maybe

(01:23:17):
you'd have a chance to beat the Patriots. Or no, no,
all my teams think every one of the doesn't matter
the sport. I have nothing. I can't even I can't
I don't even have a future. I mean my nixt,
my Mets, Giants, Dolphins, um my Arizona wild guy. How
I happens like college basketball. And we'll see how good
that is when it comes around the corner. By the way,

(01:23:38):
Bill Belichick seems very excited about Antonio Brown coming on board.
Here was this postgame press conference so I just wanted
to see, do you have any comment on the reports?
And now I hate that, you know, I hate that,
you hate what that he wanted answer the question. You

(01:23:58):
gotta be more specific, have any comment? Of course he's
gonna say no. Well he cut him off, Arnie. He
cut him off when he looked at him. He goes,
do you have any comment about He goes no, and
he goes Antonio Brown, no, So he cut him off
before you can even finish this question. I don't I
don't think the dude panic there and forgot what he
was asking. Well, no, but I I thought he was
going to give him. I thought Belichick was gonna give

(01:24:19):
me the answer like I don't comment on guys that
are not active on this team right now? You know
something like that. Okay, that might have been good. He again,
I don't know what you would expect Belichick to say,
except he's just guy gonna bring in see what he
can do. You know he's not. He's never really expanded
on anyone. You know, when you want Bill Belichick to
expand on something, ask him about alignments, or ask him

(01:24:42):
about special teams responsibilities or rule changes. Then he'll go
in depth when it comes to person fall right or
army football. When it comes to anything outside of that,
he's got no time for any of your questions. Um,
here's a good question from at Casey Underscore slide. Guys,
has Jimmy Garoppolo been exposed as an impostor? Yes he has?

(01:25:06):
Yes he has? Um, I thought, I mean, yeah, the one.
I mean, I understand Jami's Winston helped that, but come on,
he went in. They won in spite of Jimmy Garoppolo. Please,
that guy just was is starting to disgust me. Um.
He had a little bit of a stretch and we
put him in the what the four or five six
stretch Hall of Fame, and now this guy can't get

(01:25:27):
out of his own way. I feel bad for you.
Gave him a lot of money. Eddie Rights. If the
Dolphins were horses, they would have put him down by
now and then real quick before we get to the phones.
Gene in Minnesota hanging there at eight seven seven ninety
nine on Fox. Uh, Sharon Rights, what did you think
about the Bengals against Seattle. I know there's no such

(01:25:47):
things as moral victories, but I thought we looked great. Yeah, yeah,
I think that that's why he asked Frank who who
was better Seattle in the wind or Cincinnati and the loss?
But in all fairness, did you not have Cincinnati battling
for the top pick in the draft? So is that
that analogy? You give a starving person a cracker and

(01:26:08):
they're gonna think it's the greatest cracker they've ever had.
And I mean, come on, I mean you did have
them basically being barely able to figure out which hand
they could throw the ball with. So is that part
of this or no? No? Well, I mean that is true.
We thought they were gonna be like a four win team,
and after what I saw today, I mean, maybe I'm
not gonna move too far off that, but there's certainly
a lot more impressive than all the other, uh bad

(01:26:31):
teams out there in the NFL. All right, let's try
to slide in the call here real quick. We'll get
back to your tweet stock up, stock down Bicell after
Week one of the NFL in Week two of college
football coming up in our next segment. And of course,
Arnie's picks are right around the corner. But jeans in
Minnesota fired up? Geane, what's going on? Man? Welcome to
Fox Sports Radio. Hey, thanks for taking my call. Guys.

(01:26:52):
UH comments about the Redskins Eagles game today. Jake Gruden
before the game decides the d I debate Adrian Peterson
healthy scratch. This guy's a former m v P of
the league. Uh. A lot of the rumblings from the
Redskins camp was that he won the starting job. He
outperformed Darius Guys, and it sounds like a lot of

(01:27:13):
the veterans are really upset about the move. I really
don't understand it. It didn't seem to work out well
for him, getting guys only had eighteen yards. He was horrible. Yeah,
it was hard, but but you know what, the rumor
was that they were actually going to cut him before
the first game, and I guess they were overruled and
said we need him, and that's why they went ahead
made him inactive for the first game. I agree with you, though,

(01:27:33):
I don't know what they're thinking. I mean, I know,
guys had that terrible injury last year and they want
to go ahead and get younger at that position, but
he's not ready right now. In all reality, here was
here was Jake gru And I don't know how great
this audio is. Trying to explain his decision behind not
going with Adrian Peterson today, who I think you hit
a point, Arnie. He was talked about as having won

(01:27:54):
that job, but he ends up getting listed as inactive. Um,
were about five or six times we need a running
guy to cover. We had two pump pump, pump lock
and two returns on us in the pre season, so
we had to get bachel linebacker. Special team obviously small,
uh small, while Uh, it's to be done. So basically

(01:28:18):
he's saying we we couldn't have another running back active
because we needed a linebacker raft there for special teams.
And I think he added and I'm gonna go out
there and run the ball forty times, and maybe I
put him in there, but it wasn't necessarily in the
game plan. So buy what you want out of that.
You can have decisions like this that will blow your
mind early on. And maybe some people get mad because

(01:28:38):
they have certain guys in fantasy and they ended up playing,
and so they're pod about it. But I'll say this much, Arnie, Uh,
it's Adrian Peterson is not going to be the difference
between an eight, nine or ten win season in Washington.
I think they've got They've got bigger troubles in that. God,
they look pretty good today. At times in the first
three quarters they were I thought they were good, actually

(01:29:00):
winning the game. They um by the way, they were
down by twelve, they had a late touchdown and by
the way back door cover that was like a million
dollar swing. According to Vegas what are you serious? Line
was ten and they were down by twelve and scored
the way touchdown late late late in the game. A
million dollars swinging. Holy smoked. Speaking of big swings, I

(01:29:23):
don't know if we've bragged enough about the Dallas Cowboy offense.
We are contractually obligated by Bubbo, the die hard Cowboy
fan of play a little Dak Prescott for great credit,
colling more for that um and then once again, as
I said, surrounded by great players like that offensive line
did a great job in protection. You know, it's funny
because every week you wait, he's probably making more and

(01:29:44):
more money, aren't he. But for tonight, for today, Dak
Prescott looked a part of I don't want to say
super Bowl caliber, but an elite game changing quarterback. He'll
he'll get his new contract before he takes another snap.
No I I'm not kidding. There was a report that
I read today that they're real close, that it days away,

(01:30:05):
um that he gets a new contract. So I did,
which I didn't even know they were working on. To
be honest with you, I had not heard that. Good
for him, I really know. Yeah, they said they were
days away, So I'm I'm assuming by the time next
week comes along, they should have something pretty much done
in hand. Thirty two for Doc today, four hundred and
five yards, four touchdowns. He spread it around quite a bit,

(01:30:27):
had two receivers over a hundred yards of Colorado State
Kid Gallup was very impressive. Amari Cooper didn't take part
in training camp, but caught six passes for a hundred
and six yards and a touchdown. Let's see touchdowns for
Jarwin and Witten. Jason Witten had a touchdown, so did
Randall Cobb, and then of course, as we mentioned a
Maria Cooper and then just one other quick I guess

(01:30:48):
postgame comment we already played too Brian Flores, so I
will I will spare you that the rest of the way.
But the other quarterback that everyone's talking about today is
our tonight is of course Lamar Jackson. Thing I was
really impressed with, please with was his poise under pressure.
They brought a number of zero all out Blitzer is
you know, and he really held the ball as long
as he had you to give guys a chance to

(01:31:08):
get open and found the open guy bought some time
moving away, not just scrambling, but buying time to get
the ball in receiver's hands. It's probably the thing that
jumped out of me the most. The final score. That
was John Hardball laying out the really solid seventeen of
twenty performance three D four yards and five scores. Five
scores for Lamar Jackson. Fourteen carries a hundred seven yards

(01:31:31):
from mark Ingram with two touchdowns, and then he had
two receivers over a hundred yards. They're both sooner as
Arnie four catches a hundred forty seven yards. Two scores
for Marcus Brown. Sort of thought they could do that
to that great Miami defensive. There's unbelievable. See, that's what
I'm That's what I'm asking, And we're all gonna lose
our mind and we're all gonna be excited and fired
up for a week with Lamar Jackson. But I mean,

(01:31:55):
is this gonna be a case to where we talk
about a one week wonder. They do have the Ardinoald's
next week, and Cardinals defense wasn't too bad today against Detroit,
but then they go to Kansas City, they've got the Browns,
and then then they go to Pittsburgh they have their
big divisional matchup with the Steelers. So I'm curious if
this is a one week thing for Lamar Jackson or
are you buying that he's here to stay as a thrower.

(01:32:17):
I'm I'm I'm buying a little bit more. I mean
a lot more. When my kid asked me if you
should start him in his fantasy league team, and I said, no, way,
don't do it. Um, So I'll take credit for that. Um. Yeah,
I trust him a little bit more. But it was Miami.
Let's uh, let's see what he does next week. He's
not gonna put up those type of numbers, obviously, but yeah,
I like him a little bit more. Uh. And then

(01:32:39):
Mike rites before we grab a break. If the Dolphins
win next week, it will be the greatest show of
all time. Arnie will be lining up vacation time kicking
dirt on Brady calling Brown a curse. In a week
two week league. It will be the greatest knee jerk ever.
I'll ask for like a two week vacation if the
Dolphins win next week against the Patriots. Week to week league, man,

(01:33:01):
week to week league. All right, when we come back
from the guy called Fox Sports Radio Studios, what do
you say we play a little, a little buy or sell,
stock up, stock down? Through week one and now week
two of the college football season. It's Arnie in Plank
on a Fox Football Sunday. No hidding an agenda here

(01:33:32):
with this song, Bobo right, no hidding agenda at all.
How about them cowboys? How about my cowboys? Don't do
that to him, Arnie Arne Arne, Arne Arney. I will
fly my ass to where you are and hurt you
if you jinks me in Week one, damn Cowboys and

(01:33:52):
the Patriots in the Super Bowl. I'm gonna turn art micro.
By the way, a couple of stories that maybe we
haven't focused on as much as we should tonight because
it's your calls, your reaction. But there there are some
major I guess in game developments. Nick Foles broke his
clavical He is out indefinitely for the Jacksonville Jaguar. So

(01:34:14):
if you had Jacksonville is one of your sleeper teams,
that's probably a little bit of a neat cap for that.
Gardner Minshew came in, he was their sixth round pick.
Actually played okay whenever he was in there. Uh. They
they had Chase Little Litton Chase Litton on their practice squad,
so I don't know what they'll do. Aaron Rodgers had

(01:34:35):
a similar injury two years ago and missed eight games. Meanwhile,
Kaepernick Tyreek Kill, the wide receiver for the Chiefs, suffered
a collarbone injury that will not require surgery, but he
will miss a few weeks. He was actually taken to
the local hospital for treatment. And this is maybe a

(01:34:57):
little bit too in depth, but it's called a sterno
clavicular dislocation, uh, and it was basically reduced at the hospital.
That's where the sc joined where the collar bone meets
the stern him. He'll stay overnight, so he'll be out.
Why didn't you just shrug off my Colin Kaepernick thing.
Colin Kaepernick is not playing again in the NFL. He
was just working out, wasn't he great? So the video

(01:35:19):
of it? I worked out today too, so did Bobo probably.
I mean, are you gonna do this every time there's
an injury? Why not? We got a new name we
can throw out there now. Andrew Luck. Hey, Andrew Luck.
Maybe Andrew Luck wants to come back and play again.
I mean, he's going to be the quarterback for the
Dolphins next year. But I mean, seriously, you're not really
buying that Jacksonville will pick up the phone and Tom

(01:35:42):
Coughlin will call Colin Kaepernick right well. The fact that
it's one game, man, it did you know kind of
cross my mind that that could be a possibility, considering
he did put out the video of him working out
with the who was it O'Dell or somebody who I
don't remember who he was working out with, some big receiver.
Don't know. Um, I guess maybe I need to follow
him on Twitter and see what's going on. But I
just I've kind of accepted the fact that he's not

(01:36:03):
playing in the NFL. I'm not saying it's right, but
it's just not happening. And then the other story that
maybe we haven't talked about much is not just that
the Browns lost, not just that they lost by thirty,
but Arnie, they committed eighteen penalty eighteen embarrassing. Oh my goodness.

(01:36:24):
So Baker Mayfield was hurt in the game as well, too,
had X rays on his right thumb slash wrist. But
it's all, uh, it's just a bruise, so he's gonna
be okay. So he was terrible. And then after that
first touchdown, he's celebrating and he thought it was gonna
be a good day, and then that tight defense defense
put the clamps on him big time. On well, his

(01:36:47):
dope be offensive lineman got booted for the game from
stopping on a guy. It doesn't help when you're left
tackles out, So that doesn't help. And I don't know
if the Browns are I don't know if the Browns
offensive line is all that good either, but let's start
there and then by herself, Arnie, the Tennessee Titans roll
today over the Browns. Today wasn't about how bad the
Browns are, but maybe how good the Titans could be

(01:37:07):
this year. You're buying or selling that. I'm buying that. Yeah, absolutely,
I was impressed. I'm like, wow, look at his defense
and in the division that was wide open. All of
a sudden, that looks so wide open all of a sudden,
looks like it's the Titans division to win maybe, and uh,
I really like the way that defense looked at offensively. Finally,
Mariot to put it all together. I haven't seen them
put forty three points on the boarding forever, So yeah,

(01:37:30):
I'm buying the Titans. I'm all over that U c
l A Dodger. Frank put this poll up earlier, and
I'm mad that I'm just now getting to it. But
the question was who had a worse Sunday? Melvin Gordon
are Arnie Spaniard with your team's all losing another decisive
fashion So buy or sell Arnie? I voted for you
that I voted for myself too. It was a lousy weekend. Um, Yes,

(01:37:54):
Arizona did beat Northern Arizona, but the Giants got Clawbard,
Miami got Clawbard. Total score seven, Um, no hope in site.
Uh counter that with the Patriots also winning the way
they did against uh Pittsburgh. Yeah it was. It was
a miserable Sunday for me. I didn't like a miserable
weekend for me. I didn't like it at all. But

(01:38:15):
in reality to it, it wasn't necessarily a great day
for one Melvin Corton either No, no, not at all,
and and it's Melvine's doing. But let's let's face it.
Between Eckler and Jackson, they rushed for a combined one
twenty five yards. Now, granted you didn't have a dude
blown up like Mac did, and you get almost two
hundred yards, but still looked pretty good as a combination.

(01:38:37):
All right, Arnie buy or Sell, I know it's way
you're going with this. We should just cancel the season
and plan for that Patriots Cowboys super Bowl. Yeah, let's
do it now. I think the Patriots are gonna rest
their players so they're fresh for the Super Bowl. Also,
I mean, really, the Patriots, it's that divisions already quinched there.
They're one and oh so were the so are the Bills.

(01:38:59):
I had to think about that. I don't remember even
who won that damn game. It was so ugly. Um,
those two teams are just pathetic. The Dolphins are pathetic.
Nobody come to come close to the Patriots. A matter
of fact, you could sit Tom Brady out like half
the year and play Stidham and they'll still win thirteen
fourteen games. That's how good they are. Over the rest
of the division. I'm not ready to quite go that far.

(01:39:20):
Oh yeah, yes, could yes, Arnie. I love you about
a good spray. What do you have a good preseason?
And and I know you're all drunk on your team,
your Patriots finally being good and you're coming out of
your shell a little bit, but they're not going undefeated
with Jared Stidham at quarterback. All right, buy or sell
a team we're not talking about today. Then may have
had one of the better wins of the day was

(01:39:42):
the Rams. There weren't huge offensive numbers, they played against
a competitive Panthers team and they went out and got
it out a win. Todd Gurley looked good, Malcolm Brown
looked good. Buying are selling? The Rams had a sneaky
good day? Yeah they did. I'm still concerned about Girly.
He only had fourteen carries um and one of them
was a five year or so if you do the math,
you only had about thirteen carries for less than fifty yards.

(01:40:04):
Has got to be concerned there. I still feel like
there's something wrong with him and Jared Goff. If you
would have told me listed two yards passing and they'd
win the game with thirty points, I'd say you're crazy. So, um, yeah,
it was a good win. But I told you I'm
not sold on golf. I've got some question marks about him.
Buy yoursell. This goes back to a conversation we had earlier.

(01:40:25):
It's time for the Giants to just go ahead and
start Daniel Jones. No, no, no, no, I'm selling that. No, no, Eli. Actually,
Eli was not bad. I don't know. You can't put
the blame on him for what happened. That cowboys just
flexed their muscle. Eli was thirty or forty four for
over three yards and a touchdown, no interceptions. What more
do you want from the guy? Um? No, I'm not

(01:40:45):
ready to put in Jones and he fumbled anyway. Nobody's
clambing for him now. Um in the preseason maybe, but
not now. So yeah, let's give Eli his final year
and move on from that. And don't get me wrong,
I'm not necessarily saying you trade him, or that you
could trade at him, or that you need to cut him.
But I just think, more than anything else, maybe it's
time to give the young guy a shot. But you're

(01:41:06):
not buying would take him right now on a trade?
I bet you that they might, but you know, Todd Ferman,
I think it was Todd, or maybe it was it
was a Frank Schwab. We just assumed that you can
trade a quarterback and he slides right in, regardless of
if they played in an offense. You gotta learn a
new book. You got timing down with your receivers. I mean,

(01:41:27):
I'm trying to remember the last time a quarterback was
traded to another team and it was just smooth and
they were right back into it. I mean, is the
biggest quarterback trade that we've had in season? Carson Palmer
to the Raiders from the Bengals, And granted he had
been in retirement, but it took him like three weeks
to kind of get back into the swing. What about
Jimmy g to San Francisco. Yeah, well, how long did
he sit out before he actually played? Well, yeah, a

(01:41:50):
few games and then he went he played the you
know the end of it, didn't he Right, he sat
out a majority of the season as he was kind
of learning the offense and getting rolling with things. So
it's not antaneous thing regardless of how well they know
the offense. I want to go in depth on a
story that we haven't touched on tonight with with Week one.
We've had games to recap, but there was a major
story that broke. I don't know, I guess starting on

(01:42:12):
Thursday with Antonio Brown. You know, Bill Belichick hasn't helped
add to it, but I got a buy our cell
to wrap up, to wrap up the Antonio brown saga
when we come back to the Geico Fox Sports Radio studios.
But first first, we do have games to talk about,
so Seger is in the house to get a start
up on everything. Steve, you know you mentioned the Browns

(01:42:32):
with the eighteen penalties. They lost the season open they
got football back in Cleveland. Remember they have won one
season opener since they got a team back, one and
nineteen with uh And also speaking of said Dolphins, Lamar
Jackson with a perfect passer rating and his five touchdown game.

(01:42:56):
Not bad for a running back, as he said afterwards,
but that's the nf FELL record for most points in
the first half of a season opener. They're up forty
two to ten at the break, and they wound up
setting the franchise mark for points and for total yards.
And of course the irony is we talked about those
two teams is the original Cleveland Browns moved to Baltimore
and became the Baltimore Ravens and Cam Newton. Of course,

(01:43:18):
they lost to the Rams. The Panthers quarterback was held
to a career low minus two yards rushing in that loss.
Christian McCaffrey had a couple of t d runs over
a hundred yards, but thirty to twenty seven Rams. The
final and Yes quarterback Nick Foles at Jacksonville broke his calibona,
who left surgery tomorrow. Folds is starting a four year
contract Casey one at Jacksonville forty to twenty six. Kansas

(01:43:40):
City scored points in its first seven possessions. Chiefs wide
receiver Tyreek Hill will miss quote a few weeks with
a shoulder injury. He just signed that three year extension.
Patrick Mahomes had three touchdown passes to Sammy Watkins, who
had nearly two hundred yards receiving. Minnesota turned all four
Atlanta turnovers into touchdowns twenty eight to twelve. The final

(01:44:00):
Buffalo with a comeback seventeen sixteen win at the Jets
after being down sixteen zip second half. Philadelphia has DeShawn
Jackson again. He had over a hundred fifty yards receiving
in two scores. They beat Washington and a comeback thirty
twenty seven. Philly was down seventeen nothing in the first half.
The Baltimore win was fifty ten. Tennessee's win was thirteen

(01:44:22):
at Cleveland, and then you had the close games Seattle
one twenty over Cincinnati, and Seattle's offense is nothing to
write home about. It's fourteen drives, twelve first downs, and
that's the winning side. Bengals running back Joe Mixon suffered
an ankle injury m R. I tomorrow. Cincinnati went over
three in the red zone lost by that point. Dallas

(01:44:42):
was up thirty five ten after three quarters and beat
the Giants thirty five seventeen. Dak Prescott with his four
touchdown passes. You know, Dak had a perfect passer writing
and Lamar Jackson a perfect pass rating in their respective games.
Today Detroit that Arizona was a twenty seven all tie
after overtime. Each team kicked a field goal in overtime.

(01:45:02):
Cardinals had trailed six early in the fourth Kyler Murray,
who was sacked five times too late touchdown passes though,
and a two point conversion. They do at least get
the tie. Chargers got three touchdown passes from Philip Rivers.
They were great for two and a half quarters, and
then blew a nine lead second half, still one in
overtime against the Colts thirty to twenty four. By the way,

(01:45:24):
last year, Philip Rivers started the season with at least
two touchdown passes in the first twelve games to start
the year. You know when he has a quarterback rating
of at least one twenty, and it was just over
one twenty today. The Chargers record is forty three and five.
That is astounding, including today's win. The night game New
England thirty three three over Pittsburgh. Tom Brady three touchdown passes.

(01:45:46):
Great news. There's a quick way you could say money
switched to Geico. Go to Geico dot com and in
fifteen minutes you could say fift cent or more on
curR insurance. The Yankees beat Boston ten five, and the
Red Sox quote parted ways with team president Dave Dombrowski.
Houston aw won one win against Seattle, Garrett Cole the
winning pitcher, fifteen strikeouts in eight innings. Oakland three one

(01:46:06):
over Detroit. So the a's aer a game and a
half up on Cleveland for the final Ale wild Cards,
but Cleveland five two winners at Minnesota. Cubs lost again,
while the Cardinals won St. Louis Cardinals first in the
NL Central, now four and a half games over the Cubs,
who've lost three straight. Tampa Bay won its fifth in
a row, Max Scherzer with a win Washington wanted Atlanta.
That breaks the Braves nine game winning streak. That's great

(01:46:29):
news for the Dodgers because the Braves had only been
two and a half back of l a for stealing
the top seed in the n L. Dodgers got a
five nothing win over San Francisco. Back to the show
in ten seconds. First word from farmers at Farmers Insurance.
We know a roof can withstand a lot. One exception
being an airborne car. Seen it covered it. Dr Farmers,
we are farmers underwritten my Farmers Truck Fire Insurance Exchange

(01:46:53):
and affiliates products unavailable in every state. Okay. A couple
on what happened today and a couple on what's coming up.
Rafael Nadal won the USO Open in five sets, so
that's Grand Slam title in his career, number nineteen. The
record is twenty Roger Federer. Today's final nearly five hours long.
Kevin Harvick took the NASCAR Race at Indie easily to
end the regular season. The playoffs start next Sunday at Vegas.

(01:47:15):
Clinton Boyer Ryan Newman are in the final two playoff spots.
Jimmy Johnson is out. As for what's coming up, USA
basketball four and oh plays Brazil tomorrow morning our time
from China. At the World Cup, US beat Greece the
last game. The Americans will be in a quarterfinal on Wednesday,
but the US could be playing France or Australia and
each of those two teams is four and oh so far,

(01:47:36):
and we have two NFL games Tomorrow night to Guys
Houston at New Orleans. Remember the Saints where the number
one seed in the NFC last year They beat the
Rams head to head in the regular season. Denver at
Oakland the late game. Joe Flacco is Denver debut, and
of course this would be the Broncos last visit to
Oakland before they moved to Vegas next year. Back to
back trips. By the way, Broncos played the last game

(01:47:58):
in Oakland to wrap up the season. They've got to
go back. I bet it's exactly the same, and Derek
Carr by the way too, and oh against Joe Flacco
and his career hot but that in your pick pipe
and say, we're coming to you live tonight thanks to
Segre great stuff tonight, buddy, have a great week. We're
coming to you live tonight from the Geico Fox Sports
Radio studios. It's easy to say or more on car

(01:48:19):
insurance with Geico, go to Geico dot com or call
seven otto. The only hard part figuring out which way
is easier. So a couple of quick tweets here, real
quick before we get to a final buy or sell
Ernie the Great Opina rights, buy or sell, stock up,
stock down down by bet the mortgage on the Patriots,
sell any merchandise of the Miami Dolphins, stock up Boston

(01:48:42):
Sports Talk Radio. After the Pats win and Dombrowski gets canned,
stocked down the Dolphins. Chance of keeping the Patriots under
seventy next week? Yeah, yeah, I pretty much agree with
all that stuff. They're they're gonna run, I mean seventy,
maybe more than that. I don't I wouldn't even stop
at seventy, to be honest, Toughens are gonna beat the
Patriots next week and everyone's gonna lose their mind that

(01:49:03):
I am so here for that. I can't wait. Uh
and then uh infamous the DJ rights. I'm buying the
fact Arnie had a better Saturday night than Sunday night,
even adding the fact that Washington lost to Cow around
four in the morning. Did you stay up for that
last Well? I didn't stay up. I was up till
two A. I mean, don't repeat this please. I was

(01:49:24):
happy that that game got delayed, um because I was
wishing bad things for Brady Quinn because he was doing
the games. I'm like, yeah, there you go, Brady, stay
up all night and suffer so um that that kind
of made me happy. What did Brady ever do to you?
I made fun of my Arizona team. I don't forget
a memory like an elephant. I don't think you do

(01:49:44):
have a memory like an alp. I really don't. And Uh, anyway,
with that said that, you didn't start to like one
thirty in the morning eastern? Uh? Yeah, one thirty eastern
because Chris Peterson came out at ten thirty and told
everyone to call their friends and let them know we're
kicking off, and I sat and watched. I watched most

(01:50:05):
of that game. No I did, I got I mean,
we got back. We got done with our postgame responsibilities
about uh ten o'clock. So I got home just in
time to watch it all and enjoyed it was good game. Yeah,
because in the Fresno State Minnesota game was going on
at about the same time too. In Minnesota pulled that off.
All right, So Arnie, with that in mind, let's get

(01:50:25):
back to the NFL before I make anyone mad, Arnie,
are you buying that this was all part of a
master plan by Antonio Brown and his agent Drew Rosenhouse
to get him to New England? Are you buying that
all of this started to become from the the craziness
with the helmet started to fester whenever he realized that

(01:50:46):
he might have a chance to get cut by Oakland
and end up in New England. No, No, I'm not
buying it, but I wouldn't put it put it past them.
I mean, the Patriots tried to get Antonio Brown when
the Pittsburgh Stealers were dealing him. Now, I don't think
he's smart enough to go ahead and do that. And
you know, uh get you know, even know what the
Raiders were gonna do, and I was kind of surprised

(01:51:07):
they not know and avoided the contract. But they took
away the guarantee. Surely they knew once they took away
the guarantee, he was going to react like that. And
I want to get off that team. I felt that
they shouldn't even find them the fifty four thousand dollars,
and then they doubled up and took away the guarantee.
I think they just made it went from bad to worse. Um,
Like I said, Jimmy Johnson was once asked by a player, hey,

(01:51:30):
how come you treat Troy and Emmon and and Michael
different than the rest of us, And he goes, that's right,
I do. And when you're that good, I'll treat you
like that also, So you know, obviously you're gonna be
treated differently in in different situations. So I certainly understand that.
So you have no problem with what Antonio Brown did
getting out of his contract, and that's all. No, I

(01:51:52):
don't think he did on purpose, but hey, he didn't
want to be there anymore, so um, he wanted out.
They dealt him and the Patriots so the woky winners
of the Antonio Brown Sweepstakes. Um, I'll say this much.
I think it's one of the biggest bull bleep moves
in the history of sports. And the fact that he
is on the Patriots right now should piss everyone off.

(01:52:15):
And the fact that he was able to manipulate this, Arnie,
you of all people I would think would be outraged
by something like this taking place. I have no problem
with players being empowered, and if you want to, if
you don't want to be somewhere, by all means, go
somewhere else. But nobody, and I mean nobody cater to
that dude more than John Gruden and that team did.

(01:52:35):
The embarrassment of everything he did with his feet, the
embarrassment of how he acted about his helmet not showing
up and listen, the fine letter is a procedural thing.
You have to send those letters. He may not have
ever paid the fine, and I think that Amy Trask
even pointed out on Twitter, you have to do it
to maintain their rights. I think it's one of the

(01:52:56):
most childish things we've ever seen, and I think it's
I think it's buck that he ended up getting complete
in total everything he wanted out of you know, Chris
putting it inspective though you know you say the feet,
It's not like you said, hey, let me go ahead
and you know, freeze my feet and and and heard
it on purpose. Um my livelihood and to you know,

(01:53:17):
we react to Antonio Brown like he was involved with
like domestic violence or something involved with his young child.
With other people have been through, it's not even close
to that situation. I don't know if you're gonna say
apples and oranges, but I think we need to cut
them a little bit of a break here. Um, I'm
speechless all over this studio. When we come back, Oh

(01:53:42):
my gosh, when we come back to the Geico Fox
Sports Radio studios, Arnie's picks will take us home right here.
On Fix Sports Radio final segment, Arnie and Plank on
the first NFL full weekend, We still have two more
games to go, well those quickly before we get out.
Thanks to Bubbo, great job on the Bumpers all night long,

(01:54:05):
Awesome stuff from the Saga following the breaking news with
Dave Dombrowski out in Boston, and lead a lap to
a great guest thanks to Frank Schwab at Yahoo Schwab
and our buddy Todd Ferman. So do I lead? I
just have to give up. We're never gonna get Middlecloth on,
are we. It's just not gonna happen. I mean, oh,
he's coming, Okay, yeah, every every week, every week he
says he's coming. But you know how it gets Sunday night.

(01:54:28):
He's He's my favorite. I like listening to him. I
like disagreeing with him and agreeing with him and the
logical dude. So hopefully we'll be able to get him
on next week as well as talk about the two
and o Oakland Raiders next week and as well. All right, Arnie,
what do you say with you? This final segment always
about your pick, So let's go who you got, who
you're taking? What can we look forward to in a

(01:54:48):
week two of the NFL season? As you mentioned two
games tomorrow. I like the double Monday Night game, but
that's beside the point where the Saints opened up as
a nine point favorite that got bet down to anywhere
between six and a half and seven, depending on where
you're looking at. I gotta tell you, I'm almost inclined
to take the Texans plus the seven, but with all

(01:55:09):
the moves they've made. I think it's gonna take a
little while to gel. And the Saints are so focused
after what happened to the last year that they'll sue
the whole damn league again if they have to if
they don't win it this year. So I'm gonna take
these Saints and lay the seven at home against the Texans,
and I'm all over the Denver Broncos over your Raiders.

(01:55:30):
I'll lay the two and a half. Um. This should
be an easy victory for Denver. The Raiders are just
gonna be a step better than Miami, but I can
see like a three touchdown victory for the Denver Broncos.
Do have to college football games for next week. I'm
taking Michigan State minus the twelve against Arizona State, who
struggled against Sacramento State once again. The pat twelve is

(01:55:53):
just hideous. And Oklahoma is playing U Celia. I don't
know if you know that, Chris, I don't know if
you saw. Yeah, uh, the line opened up at seventeen.
Oklahoma went up to twenty one. If you know this,
Oklahoma's favorite in the game. I don't know if you
know that. Chris went up to twenty one, give me
my Oklahoma Sooners minus the twenty one against Juice c

(01:56:16):
l A. So there you have my picks two of
the mississip Please, but remember there are more than just
strictly for entertainment purposes. Only. You've got a whole Saturday
of games and a whole Sunday and you're picking three
games your pick segment. During the summer, you pick twelve
damn baseball games. Well, now you finally have football games

(01:56:37):
and you take three games. So I took the two
Monday night games, and then the other games aren't until
the following Saturday, so it's like far away and there's
only two games that matched. There's why one or two
games that matched teams in the top where shows until Sunday.
I don't get well, hey, you know what, we didn't
break any laws, so I guess it's okay. Let me

(01:56:58):
read some tweets here. Uh. This is from Nate, who
writes it shouldn't surprise you that Arnie isn't tough on Antonio.
Brown nut jobs have to look out for one another,
Paul rights, Arnie. I have a bridge in Brooklyn and
ocean front property in Kansas City. I would love to
sell you. I just love the way everybody's piling on um,
you know, like it was one of the worst things

(01:57:20):
they've ever seen in their entire lives. You watch will
come to the Patriots, will be a model player, and
they won't have any problems with him whatsoever for the
last So then it was the Raiders fault that he
acted like that. Well, you know sometimes no, that's what
you're saying. What they do wrong? Well, they shouldn't have
find them the dollars. Let's start there, Arnie. Every person

(01:57:43):
that puts themselves in a position where they miss work
gets a letter that says they're fined. He could have
said that he had hands problem and he was resting
at his home and nobody would have said a damn
thing about it. But do you have you watched Antonio
Brown over his career at all? You think he can
just sit at home and not do something without telling

(01:58:03):
the world about it on social media? Have you paid
attention to this man? I paid attention to you where
you were kissing his backside two weeks ago. Now you're
totally anti Adonio Brown. When did I kiss his backside?
I said, I said, get into camp, Get into camp.
Do your job. Now he's the worst. No, he's not

(01:58:24):
the worst. He's worst than the worst. But hey, he
didn't break any laws, so just do whatever you want. Uh.
The Dolphins punter and kick return team was the only
ones that showered. That was from the Prima cat uh
and then no one more. Isaac writes, I'm a Viking
fan and would love for them to snatch Davante Parker

(01:58:44):
from the Fins for a low draft pick. That you
got it done done. That's one of my favorite stories
I think so far this entire evening, is that you
have a Dolphin players who have allegedly asked for UH
an owt. They want they want to be gone. And
I'm thinking to myself, really, you don't want to be
part of tanking. We'll go out and play better and
we'll see if Brian Flores can rally that rally that roster.

(01:59:07):
I don't think he can. Do you just start Josh
Rosen from here on out. I think, so, yeah, let's
see what he can do. I get him to start
the next game. He can't get much worse. Let's see
what the kids got. Can you believe he's thinking to himself, boy,
I really wish I was back on Arizona. Yeah, well,
I mean he'd still be right in the pine, all right.
For Arnie Spanier, I'm Chris Plank again, thanks to Bobo.

(01:59:27):
Great job tonight, Great job Leader Lap. Great job is
always to Steve de Seger for those who don't know.
That wraps up your weekend programming. But we like to say, Arnie,
we truly kick off the exactly too Monday night football games.
Big Ben Mallor is coming up next to break him
all down. We're back next Saturday night for Arnie. I'm playing.
