I'm like, oh, got a little problem here.

And if you're the Lakers, that because you look at
those teams, like the Celtics team they went on, the
Porzenkis was in and out of the lineup, and they
still were able to win the championship, and they ended
up beating that Dallas team that was kind of Lucas centric, right,
and then you have the Halliburton engine that ran the
Pacers and the SGA engine that ran OKC.

A lot about who's the worst player on those lineups.
As you're watching eight to nine guys playing in the
conference finals and playing in the NBA Finals, the Lakers
don't have.

so to your point in terms of the bumps, these

reference to Jennie Buss, and I know that Genie's not

But let's not act like that family atmosphere that has always, somehow,

of a human touch with the way the Lakers are going.
And I look at these two, these two entities, and
I say this, without controversy and without blame. You have
arrived at a spot where they have competing interests.

The Lakers would be idiotic to make somebody who's already
had their fortieth birthday the centerpiece of what they're doing.
That would be idiotic, And it would be idiotic for
Lebron if what he wants to do is win championships,
it would be idiotic for him to stick and stay

in a spot that probably in this moment, doesn't offer
him the best chance to do that. Competing interests. You'll
hear this again because later on in the show we're
going to talk about Jonathan Kaminga and the Warriors competing
interests and so sometimes even when it's like that's the
best player for me right now, I like that player, I.

these players right now, and a lot of these teams
that's CBA that you're referencing. It's going to send a
lot of teams into, hey, do you want to be
all about this one season or do you want to
keep an eye on the business as a whole. And
if you want to keep the eye on the business

as a whole, well in this particular case, it probably
doesn't necessarily add up for Lebron to be there. And
I know we opted in, but Man Martin, where there's
a will, there's a way, well plus two.

Opting in was almost absolutely like if I know that
the tweets will be like, oh, you know Lebron was
really about winning, he would opt out and sign for
the mid level in a blessed there's a Unlike the NFL,
which we have found out thanks to Pablo Tori, the
NBA players union is a lot stronger than that.

They're not going to let.

I look at the landscape of the NBA today, where
is it that I have a better shot, like a

reference to what the Golden State Warriors tried to do

the hell that they would do that. I don't think

it's possible anymore because they acquired Jimmy Butler, and so
you cannot fit on the Golden State Warriors those three
salaries Lebron, Jimmy, and Steph. I don't think you can
do that. I'm almost Then again, if you want to
get super top heavy, like it's mathematically possible, if you
want to lose your mind and go into the eighteenth

right now, and it is the Golden State Warriors. They
want to maximize the remainder of a thirty seven year
old's career, and so that's all they care about right now,
to the tune of they're out shopping right now to
probably get rid of a twenty two year old athletic
freak who's yet to sort of find his way in

the NBA, and they wouldn't play him down on the stretch.
And I get why because he doesn't fit right now
and they are about right now now.

If you can, that's what I'm saying, if you could
direct that now, I think you know, this second apron
is more complicated than twelfth grade calculus, and I didn't
do well in that either.

But Jimmy, I think can't.

Get traded until like later on into the season, Like
it have to be not one of these agreed upon
deals in like July.

or if you sign a player, you usually have to

They acquired him and they signed him to an extension.
I don't know the exact rules, but it's possible that
he would not. That was the first week of February,
so that would make him not eligible to be traded
until August.

I'm not a cathologist, and I'm not you know I
have I have no idea really the imploy I understand
the second apron, but the implementation of the second apron
from what I am seeing from NBA teams, I clearly
do not understand how it actually works theoretically, but I
get it, but in practice, I'm not getting it.

But what I think that I would say is, unless.

There's something I'm missing, it seems to me that the
best place for Lebron James to attempt to win another
championship is next to the guy who walked through the
Western Conference just a year ago with PJ.

They traded for Charlotte and Daniel Gafford, who, like they say,
from Washington, taking those guys from teams that were collectively
just unwatchable, making them playoff players.

Lost like been on the Jenny cre this summer and
lost a ton of weight. So whenever that means to
you with me, it actually doesn't mean that much to me.
But it just seems like if I'm Lebron, I would
just sit there, very much like when I watched the
Warriors with Harrison Barnes and that blast playoff serios that
they had, and I said, Man, you know what, if
Kevin Durant was in Harrison Barnes' shoes, that would be

a really unbeatable team. And it's sure enough had happened.
When the Lukers got traded to the Lakers. I thought,
you know, if you put Lebron James in the PJ.
Washington role, I'm interested, that could be pretty good, especially
for a guy in that age range and the eight,
the two timelines.

You know what I'm saying, It just will require Lebron
to come off the ball.

Well, I don't disagree with anything that you're saying.

I'm by no means am I sitting here telling you
that the Lakers don't have what they need to compete
and be a high level playoff team.

But what I think this year's NBA Finals and playoffs
taught us beyond the idea of luck and hopefully your
stars don't have their legs blow up in the postseason.
Outside of that, what it taught us is this new
CBA is calling for teams to be deep. You have

to have depth, you can't be top heavy. And it's
really it flies in the face. And at least this
is in the moment. The salary cap will keep going.
I think the penalties that you're seeing right now are
going to wane over time. So you're not going to
see this every offseason where teams like the Celtics are
like here, have our third and fourth best players, just
get him out of here. You're not going to see

that as much going forward, but you do right now.
And what it says to me right now is the
teams that Lebron has been used to building his entire
career don't work anymore. That's what he's been doing. Right,
he goes to Miami, build me some top heavy, go
back to Cleveland, build me some top heavy. Difference now
is he's not twenty eight anymore and the NBA currently

how's the parody to test your depth?

I said it at the beginning of this. It went
from best player on the court to who's the worst
player you gotta play?

Yep, it's and I doubt And that's why I just
think like if.

best player on the court, but somewhere the third or
fourth best player on the court, Dude, I think you
still got a big, major impact on winning type of player,
especially because he's still going to determine our demand.

Warriors to the Mavericks and he doesn't exactly demand the
same attention that he did when he was a ma
Like you know, in that change, Lebron coming off the
ball a bit, people will still care a lot that

want to be a Laker. It just means that he
looks at an option and goes, I'm worth more than that.

the young player for the Golden State Warriors, and I'm

And Jonathan basically the quick summary was Jonathan was like,

I want to be a star.

I don't care where it is. And immediately you had
some Warrior fan go dude. I read that whole article
and I never heard him say a word about winning.
All he said was I want to be an All Star.

all in the name of trying to win. Next year, dude,
we're watching their muscles fly out of their body on

the thing for me with him, I think when you

look at just his body type, his athleticism, and also
the games in which he plays when Steph doesn't play
right like, he seems to have big output scoring. He
seems to be a guy. I think it's not unfair
for him to think, in a different scenario and situation, I.

But the thing that I would caution him about, and
it's a little different with him than I think the
average player because Jonathan Kamena's like it's not that he's
like playing a small role. There are times he plays

to spot starter every so often.

the bus is with everybody on it and all types

Well, it's also too it's not even that I your words,

getting to school is one of the things they don't
have to focus on. Ye, So like they like they
have a less of excuse to have bad grades, less

Mathern and I look at Jonathan Kaminga, and I was like,
you know, I feel like, in a different spot, I
could see a similar role for Kaminga, But I would

just challenge him and Kaminga, I don't think we'll get
punched in the face on the way out the door.
But Jordan Pool, to me, showed he could compete on
a winning team in a winning situation. It was a
little flaky, shaky, whatever you want to call it. Goes
to Washington and it feels like it becomes completely unseerious.
