this week, A whole bunch of top twenty five teams
(00:26):
matching up against each other. It was all types of fun.
And you know what right now, Notre Dame in Ohio
state going at it. A matchup with two top ten teams.
This is what Saturdays were built for. But I'd be
remiss if I don't introduce my co host right now,
Vernon BJ, the big Vanilla funny BJ Husky, and I
have to say, let me be the first at Fox
Sports Radio to wish you a happy birthday.
Speaker 1 (00:49):
My friend mom. Man. I appreciate that, Yes, sir, appreciate that. Man. Oh,
that was to sound like we were waiting on just
that right there. That was it.
Speaker 3 (00:56):
Thank you, That's what I was looking for it.
Speaker 1 (01:00):
Thank you.
Speaker 3 (01:01):
I thought about this this morning. I said, I wonder
if Loraina is gonna either play Stevie Wonders Happy Birthday
or two chains a happy Birthday song. I was trying
to figure out which one was probably gonna play over
the air.
Speaker 1 (01:14):
We're a little safer with this one, but.
Speaker 4 (01:16):
Long show VJ. We can always switch.
Speaker 1 (01:18):
In my girl. That's you know what, that's why you
part of the fan. I appreciate you, Martin O.
Speaker 3 (01:21):
Thank you, man, and thank you to everybody out there
for all the birthday wishes, all the fans who had
a party last weekend, last Sunday. So people showed up, man,
that I ain't seen in a while. People showed up
that I see.
Speaker 1 (01:31):
All the time.
Speaker 3 (01:32):
And I appreciate it, man, and thank the Lord for
giving me one more trip around the sun. Forty six
feels amazing, feels out standing.
Speaker 1 (01:41):
So I appreciate it. Brother. Thank you.
Speaker 2 (01:42):
See what you used to say. Right now, forty six
years undefeated, You're still here.
Speaker 1 (01:46):
I'm still here. I'm still sure.
Speaker 3 (01:47):
I'm still here man, and I'm getting better. I'm like
fine wine, baby, I'm getting I'm like a nice age
steak at Ruth Chris Steakhouse.
Speaker 1 (01:53):
I'm getting better now.
Speaker 2 (01:55):
In a matchup of two previously undefeated teams. One did
not come out success right now with that pity touchdown
which saved day forty two to nothing blowout for Colorado.
They ended up losing the game forty two to six
against Oregon. And you know what, actually, now that I
sat here and just think about this.
Speaker 1 (02:13):
You know who you are because you tweet me every show.
Speaker 2 (02:16):
Go back and retweet that when I said Oregon will
win by two scores, and he tagged Dion and Dion
Junior like he doesn't believe yet.
Speaker 1 (02:23):
I'm not even trying to take a victory lap. I
just remember that the.
Speaker 2 (02:25):
Guy take him here, he's a Cincinnati fan. He tweets
me all the time about Joe Burrow. You know who
you are lifting it in my voice, but no, uh.
Dan Lanning was talking co crazy prior to this game
and then went out and backed it up.
Speaker 1 (02:43):
And again this is what college football is about.
Speaker 2 (02:46):
Jay Norvel going in there saying, hey, my mama taught
me to take my head and sunglasses off. Dan Lanning
earlier today going hey we win, they don't win games.
Speaker 1 (02:57):
On YouTube, did you see this pregame speech to Gold
We played for wins. They played for it. They played
for clicks, We played for wins, play for clicks and likes.
So we're not playing this game in Hollywood. Were playing
it on the grass now.
Speaker 2 (03:11):
I was curious to see what would happen when Colorado
eventually lost, because I told you I thought this was
probably a six to seven win team YEP at the
start of the year and pretty much held true to that,
which is a major success. I'm not saying that that
for any reason that you know. There were twenty one
(03:31):
point underdogs today and a twenty one point favorite showed
out like a twenty one point favorite.
Speaker 1 (03:36):
It's supposed to let's hear Dan Lanning real quick.
Speaker 5 (03:39):
Rooted in substance, got flash rooted in substance today.
Speaker 1 (03:44):
We talk with our patch right every moment.
Speaker 5 (03:49):
The Cinderella story's over man, Right, they're fighting for clicks,
we're fighting for wins. There's a difference, right, there's a difference.
This game ain't going to be playing in Hollywood. It's
gonna be played on the crass Let's go on.
Speaker 2 (04:06):
So that was pre game, and I mean Oregon came
out VJ with a mission. They went for two on
the first, on the second and third touchdowns that they scored.
They went for two attempt to two pointed versions, faked
a punt up thirteen on their own seventeen yard line.
All right, they wanted to blow Colorado out, and I was.
I was waiting for this moment, not because I wanted
(04:28):
to take a victory lap, not because I wanted to
cheer against Dion or anything like that, but some of
the talking in the way that Deon Sanders was talking.
It's a lot easier to do after a win than
it is to do after a loss. Here's Dion after
the loss.
Speaker 1 (04:42):
It's good old fashion buck kick. There's no excuses for nothing.
Their coaches did a heck of a job repairing their team.
Obviously we didn't. That was good. I mean, that was
a really good old fashion buck kick.
Speaker 2 (04:56):
I love that out of Dion sand Of course he
did it. He didn't shy away from it. He didn't,
you know what, didn't take his hat or glasses off either. Right,
if you're gonna walk in there and talk big and
bad when you get your ass kicked, like today was
an ass kicking, go in there and say, look, we
got our ass kicked. We'll be better next week. That's
all you can do, and that's all that he did.
I appreciated that out of a loss in Deon Sanders.
Speaker 1 (05:19):
And I'll tell you this.
Speaker 2 (05:20):
I know that today was not the outcome that Colorado
won it, but today showed me something out of that
team because Dion also said get us now, because this
is the worst we gonna beat.
Speaker 1 (05:32):
Yep.
Speaker 2 (05:33):
I feel that one hundred percent, and I think that's
why Dan Lanning was out there going for two trying
to run up the score, which again have no problem
with all right, because when Dan Lanning is going to
recruit kids in this summer, he could sit back and
be like, you want to go to Colorado. We just
beat them by almost fifty. Now Dione will be like, look,
you come to Colorado and we'll do all the You know,
(05:54):
we've covered that, but Dan Lanney's got to go recruit too.
I love what I saw today, both out of the
program and out of Deon Sanders.
Speaker 1 (06:01):
And the loss.
Speaker 3 (06:02):
I'm not even mad at how you just kind of
rephrased all of that because I actually agree with just
about all of it except for one thing. Number one,
Let's get props to Oregon. Let's get props to bow Nicks,
who I talked about earlier this year as being a
possible Hosman candidate because he was a veteran quarterback. He
had his fifty first start today, Like he started fifty
one college.
Speaker 1 (06:23):
Game is his career. That's a lot of college.
Speaker 3 (06:26):
Yeah, that's a lot of That's not a normal college
quarterback career. So props to Oregon, Props to the coach.
I didn't mind the pregame. I didn't mind the pregame.
I'm listen. I'm always standing on how I talk and
what I say and being bashful or being boastful sometimes
and throwing my opinions out there. So when I see
somebody do it, I can't hate on it. He's doing
(06:46):
what he had to do. You gotta use what you whatever,
whatever's out there to use, whatever's clickbait, whatever's bullets and
boarding material, you use it, whether it's against the guy
you're going for or going for the guy that you're
going for. But the problem I did have with after
they lost the game, and this is where I disagree
with Martin a little bit. This feels almost to me
(07:07):
like people were sitting and waiting for Dion in Colorado
to lose. They weren't supportive of them. Actually, I think eight.
You think six wins. I think eight or eight wins
or more is what I think they'll end up with
this year. I still my bet on the board is
still allowed for they will either beat Utah. We saw
what they looked like against UCLA at home today. If
not for the defense to get seven sacks eleven tackles
(07:29):
for lost in two takeaways. Dante first play today, I
was about to say, first play of the game. Quarterback
throws a pick six. So there's one of your touchdowns
right there. This is also a Utah team that struggled
and had to come back from late behind to beat Baylor.
And Baylor, so there's a game I think they can
get that's not until November twenty fifth.
Speaker 1 (07:46):
That's way down the road.
Speaker 3 (07:48):
Why why The reason why I say what I'm saying
is because one thing I can't stand as a.
Speaker 1 (07:51):
Hater, but what's even worse is a closet hater.
Speaker 3 (07:54):
If you're going hate, hey, if you're going dislike, dislike
out loud, dislike out front, I much rather with the
devil that I know, then the devil that I don't,
and I saw way too much this week. If you
guys are tired or Dion wait until such and such
are Yeah, man, they haven't comd of they they they've
looked good, but there's always been.
Speaker 1 (08:12):
This butt this.
Speaker 3 (08:13):
Oh yeah, wait today run up against a good team.
We already know he had to flip over fifty nine players.
We already know they were one and eleven. We already
know they probably should have lost last week. But guess
why they did it? Because shit, Dere took the ball
from the two yard line with ninety eight yards seven
plays and I think in thirty ninety seven seconds it's
scored a touchdown. You know what I'm saying, Like, there's
(08:33):
always gonna be variables. But what I didn't like what
I saw today is I saw people kind of waiting
for Dion to lose. And these these undertone tweets, these
undertone comments people are making. Well, when you talk trash,
you gotta walk. What trash has they been talking? They've
just been saying, we come to do our job. We hear,
we hear the state. What do you want them to say, Oh, well,
it's gonna take time to build. It's gonna take time
(08:55):
for us to get our guys in here. Yeah, all
that bs excuse that the media and people in radio
TV to cover up mistakes for other coaches that can't
get their programs together. And I love the way Dionce
said you better get us now reminds me when Harball
went the Michigan. You'll be very familiar with this, Martin.
When Harball went the Michigan, they wanted him to They
were waiting for him to lose. They were waiting for
(09:16):
him to fail instead of Hey man, look he did
this at San Diego University of San Diego, went to
the Niners and got him to the Super Bowl for
conference championship against And look he's at Michigan. He's conturn
this r nin hour. They wait till they play somebody else,
wait till they play somebody else. And it reminded me
of the game I referenced with you plenty of times
before the Saturday night game. I called it the Saquon
Bark again because he ran crazy over Michigan. Joel Klatt,
(09:36):
our great colleague here at Fox Sports One, went on
Colin and said he couldn't believe the amount of text
messages that he was getting from people in the media
and other coaching programs that they were happy to see
Harball losing. But no, we're not mad at Harball. We
don't dislike Harball. He's good for coll Yeah, you talk
all that crap until it happens. I saw too much
(09:56):
of that today and it makes me pull for Colorado
even more because I'm on the boat.
Speaker 1 (10:00):
But hats the Oregon.
Speaker 3 (10:02):
You did what you're supposed to do, even when I
saw them trying to run up the score a I'm
a run up the score guy. If you don't want
me to score, stop me. So I agree with you, Bro.
I loved everything that happened in this game Colorado, And
you said this two weeks ago.
Speaker 1 (10:14):
You're right.
Speaker 3 (10:14):
They're not ready upfront on either side of the ball.
They're just not ready to compete with some of these
guys upfront. But we all know that, though we knew
that going into the season, Martin. They're great at the
skill position, they're great on the perimeter. But you tell
me how much time they shoud door Sanders have today.
He is running for his life all day long. Like
Deona said, you better get him now because once he
starts to recruit the lineing, he needs to keep his
(10:36):
quarterback safe so they can actually operate their offense against
anybody in America lookout. But props the organ for doing
what they were supposed to do. This is a team
that has not just Pack twelve championship aspirations, Martin, they
have college football playoff aspirations this year. So this is
a team that is good. They showed a lot of speed,
they got weapons, man, goodness, gracious, every time I looked
(10:57):
up bow Knicks is just thrown to another different receiver.
And they were killing the Corners today. No excuse for
Travis Hunter not being there. Listen, if you're not there,
you're just not there. But you can make excuses for
Travis Hunter not being there. It's just you're not making
what thirty five points? You know he's not He's not
gonna cover forty two to seven. But their receivers, man
(11:18):
just had. Orgon's receivers just had a field day against
the Colorado Corners today. But props to Oregon and props
to Dion coach Prime. Excuse me for taking it on
the chin like a man, like a real like you're
supposed to, and no excuses.
Speaker 1 (11:30):
Let's move on.
Speaker 2 (11:31):
Deon Sanders on the absence of two way star Travis Hunter,
said quote. It's like you're writing an article on your
Pennis missing Deon Sanders. To those who say that Colorado
needed a humbling quote, that's not something we needed. That's
like saying we needed a car wreck. That's like saying
you needed that. That's stupid. I just was fascinated to
(11:52):
see what was gonna happen, even when Colorado eventually lost, right,
because the whole the walk is different, the talk is different.
Speaker 1 (12:02):
If you can come in, I mean you think it
will be I think it'll be the same walking.
Speaker 2 (12:05):
No, no, no, no no, I'm saying the postgame press of course,
after you know, after we saw you know, week one
came in. Do you believe now week two, more of
the same. Week three, Hey, that was a tough, hard
faugh game. Now Week four, hey we got we got
our asses kick. All of those vibe for me. But
all four of those postgame responses I'm in with. I'm
(12:25):
in four, and I just really think what we saw
today is again a moment in which you see that
the establishment in college football, a school like Oregon, right,
who has a head coach, Dan Land, who's in his
early and his Oregon tenure, but came from Georgia came
from the establishment of college football, came in and was like,
(12:46):
you know, hey, we're gonna win this quote unquote in
the old school way. We're gonna win this on the field.
This game isn't being played in Hollywood. This game is
being played on grass. And sure enough, when they got
all grass, they Oregon talked with their pads.
Speaker 1 (13:00):
Right. It's just all of that to me, all of
that from the going for two.
Speaker 2 (13:06):
All of that was so he could go into the
living room of little Johnny who's a senior in California
right now deciding whether or not he wants to go
to Colorado or any of the other power schools, and
they can set up and be like, look, we just
housed that team. But you know why that means nothing.
I saw people tweeted that they trust me. I saw
people tweeted that shout out to my main or Aaron Torres.
(13:26):
Aaron tweeted, and I just said, what with a bunch
of a laughing mojis you know why he.
Speaker 3 (13:30):
Was able to do that today and he can get
away with it. Where does Colorado go next year? Big twelve?
Speaker 1 (13:35):
Sure, Where's where's Oregon going next year? The Big ten?
They won't play again, so you can run your mouth.
Speaker 3 (13:43):
You can run your mouth and get that out today
and get this with They were better. They have better
guys right now, and he knows that Dion knows that
Dion knew he had bet. They probably have better guys. Hey,
but hey, I got my team prepared. We did we
need to do. We're gonna go play a football game.
We're gonna go play the damn game. You know, but
I don't have the line they have, don't have the
defensive line. But we gotta we gotta go out here
try to win this game today. But when you're sitting
(14:04):
on the Oregon sideline, you can, you know, talk that
mess that. Hey, you know we you know they're they're
winning for clicks and we're doing it for because you know,
you ain't got it.
Speaker 1 (14:15):
The chance that end up playing again.
Speaker 3 (14:16):
They have to sign some type of interconference contract to
play a home and home or a ball game.
Speaker 1 (14:22):
I think today, and this is too close for the
end of the break.
Speaker 2 (14:26):
Sorry to drop this bomb on you, but I think
conference realignment will make it so we are seeing more
of these matchups instead of less.
Speaker 1 (14:34):
Well, I'm just saying they're going to separate conference.
Speaker 2 (14:36):
I get you, but I think what will end up
happening is now in your preseason, preseason game because now
you'll see the because now you gotta winning your conference
is no longer an automatic late day weekend.
Speaker 1 (14:49):
It used to be one of those games. Used to
be winning your conference was automatic.
Speaker 2 (14:52):
Now we see Texas and Alabama playing in the second
week of the year. I think we'll see more of
those type matchups as the DC in the Big Ten
and the Big Twelve grow.
Speaker 1 (15:02):
Oregon Georgia. Last year you got it finishing third in
year conference.
Speaker 2 (15:06):
But hey, you know we beat Ohio, we beat Ohio State,
Notre Dame in Oregon. Yeah, and instead of Tea Yeah,
you know not how I feel you. I think that
I think that'll be something that we see in play.
I think we'll see more of these matchups instead of
less Martin VJ Brought to you by Progressive Insurance. Progressive

professional better Bill Krackenberger will have you covered three hours
before kick every Sunday morning. Listen to Countdown to Kickoff
ors by Bett MGM right here on FOXWORTHT Radio and
the iHeartRadio app dj Wet's that coming out of the
break right now, Ohio State fourth and goal, seven minutes
(17:11):
left in the second quarter, scoreless game between the sixth
strength Buckeyes and the ninth ranked Fighting Irish. As we
watch Kyle McCord drop back, and that's an incomplete pass
on fourth and goal. You said it during the break,
I'm not gonna steal your thunder go ahead.
Speaker 3 (17:27):
Uh yeah, Look at these two sorry ass offenses that
can't score zero to zero six fifty three in the
second quarter and That is a stupid play call right there.
You take the points in a defensive struggle game, especially
in the first half. Oh yeah, you don't get it,
so you put them on the one that don't matter.
They could go ninety nine yards, take the points and
kick off and make it a touchback man and put
(17:48):
your defense back out on the field.
Speaker 2 (17:49):
I don't have a problem with going forward on fourth down,
especially fourth and goal, especially fourth and goal with less
than five yards. I really don't have a problem with it.
But however, I have a major problem with some of
this play call. Yeah, why would you roll out Kyle
McCord which he rolled out Kyle McCord to the to
the right, Ryan Day.
Speaker 1 (18:07):
Did, which effectively cuts off half the field. Yep, it
doesn't make it.
Speaker 2 (18:11):
It has never made sense to me, and it seems
to be a popular goal line play. And unless you
have Patrick Mahomes running sprint right or sprint left option,
I don't see the value. But that's hey, you know what,
I'm sitting here on the radio and Ryan Day's coaching.
Speaker 3 (18:25):
So why not touch push right there? Like you said,
fourth and one, fourth and gold on the one QB
sneak put your big hog Modeley's all grouped as the
Big You're from the Big ten. Every lineman you got
is three ten, three, twenty three, twenty five, three thirty
three thirty.
Speaker 1 (18:39):
Line them up and go get a damn yard.
Speaker 3 (18:41):
I don't I do play call on you said, And
if you look to the go back and look at
the play, the tight end that's coming in motion that
leaks out to the left is wide open. Mccorden never
looks at him. Why because you got him running sprint right.
I just I just don't get some of these play calls.
Speaker 1 (18:55):
I don't care.
Speaker 3 (18:55):
If I'm sitting here doing radio and he's coaching. He's
not doing a great job at what he's doing. We're
doing a great We're you're doing better at what we're doing.
And what he's doing it he's doing. That's for damn sure.
Speaker 1 (19:03):
Yeah, but I'll tell you what, his job pays a
lot more.
Speaker 3 (19:05):
That's all good. That's all good. Were getting there, man,
we'll get there. You ain't gonna have that job much longer.
So but you know he'll be saved.
Speaker 2 (19:11):
That's why I fired coaches my dream, because that contract
is Gararat guarantee guarantee Arkansas thirteen LSU three. Brian Kelly's
offense has been terrible.
Speaker 3 (19:22):
This shit Well, you know what, I mentioned Florida State
Seminoles earlier today because I thought about you during a
game that was one of your college football playoff teams,
and I'm like, man, one of those teams might go
down with a first loss. And here I am, with
LSU being one of my final four that I thought
was gonna get in. They already have a loss to
set Florida State Seminoles. They can't afford this. You're playing
at home, and this is something that's really irking me,
(19:45):
and it irked me watching Michigan earlier today.
Speaker 1 (19:47):
You know what I'm really sick of, man, so far
this year.
Speaker 3 (19:50):
I'm sick of programs not showing up and pounding your
chest and executing and beating who you're supposed to beat
how the hell you're supposed to beat them. I get variables, guys,
I get a day off, I get a bad play
here and there, But there's sometimes some of these schools
just should not be hanging with your players and your
coaching staff and your scheme, especially at home on a
(20:12):
Saturday night. There's no way we should be going into
the half and LSU has three points on the board
at home against Arkansas. It's it's crazy, Michigan earlier today,
you should not be up with you ten.
Speaker 1 (20:25):
To seven at the half. I was disgusted.
Speaker 3 (20:28):
I was disgusted as a fan, like yo, I don't
care what one or two good players Michigan. Listen, Rutgers
don't have a player that a starter that can start
for Michigan. Nowhere on the field. Nowhere on the field,
on both sides of the ball. They don't have a
start that can start for us. How the hell is
it only ten to seven? And then you look at
some of the games last week, some of the games
with Alabama, It's I'm tired of it, dude. I'm really
(20:49):
sick of watching some of these programs. It's almost like,
do we need preseason in College Martin to get these guys?
Speaker 2 (20:54):
Some work may have preseason in co Portland State goes
up to Oregon and then loses ninety one to seven.
Like we speaking of Oregon, they're ti there in business. Well,
you that's when when you were laying out all that.
Look you come into my house and this is what
you get.
Speaker 1 (21:12):
This is what you get. That was the only.
Speaker 2 (21:14):
School that I can't think of really in the last
two weeks that has shown.
Speaker 3 (21:19):
Dominance maybe all season, because if we look at SC
I thought about this earlier today they did. The score
looked bigger against San Jose State. But we were watching
that game here and wondering, why was it twenty two
to sixteen going into the half or something crazy like
That's like, how is San Jose State within eight points
of view? Okay, within six point excuse me of you.
(21:39):
How are they within six points going into the half
in the coliseum? Just explain this to me, and you
have probably the best prolific offense in college football the show.
Speaker 1 (21:48):
Explain how this is happening.
Speaker 2 (21:50):
And they ended up pulling away in the second half.
But that's just why I go back to that Oregon
performance today. I mean, and don't get me wrong, he
came out and made it per right. Yeah, he was
in that business shouting it out right, Hey, you know what,
no problem with it. But again comes out there, marches
down the field, boom, marches down the field, boom, marches
(22:11):
down the field, boom, And now all of a sudden
you're looking up and it's twenty one to nothing at
the end of the first quarter, and it's like, man,
this is going to be a long Saturday. That's what
we should be seeing in college football really prior to
like the leaves changing, right, really prior to like October first, Yeah,
you should be seeing and with blue bloods of college
(22:33):
football dominating and as much stuff as we were just
talking about Brian Kelly and his offense. It looks like
there's an update before going at the half, but I'll
let Steve de Seger update us on that score and
everything else.
Speaker 1 (22:43):
Steve, what's going on? My friend?
Speaker 8 (22:45):
Touchdown for twelfths ranked LSU at home. The Arkansas lead
with about thirty seconds left till the halftime break is
now thirteen to ten and Yes at top ten matchup
at Notre Dame is scoreless with under five minutes to
go till half. Ohio State at Notre Dame zero zero is.
The Buckeye were just stopped on a fourth and goal pass.
It was incomplete Kyle McCord of Ohio State just forty
(23:05):
one yards passing in the first half. Number seven Penn
State leads Iowa three to nothing early second quarter. Pit
in the first quarter ahead of number seventeen North Carolina
seven nothing tar Heels are driving. Number three Texas a
seven to three leader at Baylor early second quarter. Number
one Georgia is driving, but for the moment tied against
(23:26):
UAB seven to seven early second quarter, Florida sixteen to
seven over Charlotte late second quarter, and on Fox TV,
it's a top twenty five matchup at Washington State Cougar's
twenty one to fourteen over Oregon State late second quarter,
and the late night game on Fox will be in
a couple hours. Number five USC at Arizona State also
(23:47):
in progress just starting the third quarter. Georgia Tech leads
at three and oh Wake Forest twenty to three. Earlier,
it was a win for number two Michigan thirty one
seven over Rutgers that was tied seven to seven late
in the first half.
Speaker 1 (23:59):
In over time time.
Speaker 8 (24:00):
Number four Florida State a winner at Clemson thirty one
to twenty four. Oregon ranked tenth whipped Colorado forty two
to six. Utah fourteen to seven over UCLA UT's defense
with seven sacks. Top fifteen matchup at Alabama went to
the tie twenty four to ten over Old Miss Alabama
had trailed seven to six at the half. Oklahoma ranked sixteenth,
(24:21):
won at Cincinnati twenty to six. Victories for Duke Miami
and Tennessee. Maryland won at Michigan State thirty one to nine.
The New Orleans Saints place running back Jamal Williams uninjured
reserve with the bad hamstring. Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow with
his sore calf, is questionable for Monday night against the Rams.
To Major League Baseball, the Yankees home game against Arizona
(24:42):
was rained out. Atlanta at Washington rained out doubleheader they
hoped tomorrow. The Cubs sent Colorado to a six straight loss,
six to three. Cubs leading for the final NL wild
card spot by a game over Miami, which beat Milwaukee
five for just over one week left in the regular season.
Philadelphia and pitcher Zach Wheeler beat Matt's seven to five,
and another win for Tampa Bay seven to six over
(25:04):
Toronto with two runs in the bottom of the ninth.
Speaker 1 (25:06):
Back to the year. Thanks Steve Martin and VJ.
Speaker 2 (25:10):
Coming to you live from the Tirack dot Com studios
and without further Ado, let's get our guy in here.
Speaker 1 (25:16):
There it is.
Speaker 2 (25:20):
What Let's get my guy in here. Tyler Dragon, NFL
reporter for USA Today. He's on Twitter at the Tyler Dragon. Tyler,
how the hell are you?
Speaker 9 (25:31):
I'm good now that I hear that Tupac in the background.
What an intro music for that?
Speaker 1 (25:36):
There you go?
Speaker 2 (25:37):
Look, I want to start by asking you a question.
You wrote about this for USA Today. First line, by
the way, optimism emanated from the Los Angeles Chargers facility
to open the regular season.
Speaker 1 (25:48):
First of all, shout out to vocal words emanated. I
love it. That's on USA Today by Tyler Dragon.
Speaker 2 (25:54):
However, I gotta say that optimism's got to go because
this Chargers defense gave up what five hundred yards to Miami,
then gave o twenty seven points to the Titans. Brandon
Staley is top three and odds for first coach fired. Tyler,
what's the state of the Los Angeles Charges right now?
Speaker 9 (26:13):
Well, inside the building, ironically and coincidentally enough, there is
still hope and optimism that they can get this thing
turned around. But outside the building, me and any other
national pundit will say that the Chargers are in trouble
and turn things around tomorrow against the Minnesota Vikings. They
(26:35):
can pretty much kiss their season goodbye. I mean, you
look at the sist that the stats and you pretty
much point them out. On a defensive end. They are
last in the league and points allowed and yards per game,
And I was looking up a stat they're the first
team in NFL history to have an offense to for
(26:56):
at least fifty points and have no turnover and still
be owing to And that's a direct reflection for their
poor defense. Their defense really needs to get it turned
it around. They made Ryan Tannehill look like Dan Marino
at times. It was pretty bad.
Speaker 1 (27:15):
Tyler Dragon VJ. Verder Husky. Here always a pleasure talking
to you.
Speaker 9 (27:18):
How you doing, brother, I'm doing good. How are you?
Speaker 1 (27:20):
I'm doing outstanding?
Speaker 10 (27:21):
Man.
Speaker 1 (27:21):
I've put you on that Tupac too. Man.
Speaker 3 (27:23):
But I think what the bear should be with, the
bear should be playing is the old song walking out,
because there's a lot of walk back and walking out
going on up there in the Windy City. You had
Justin Fields, who I like a lot, had to kind
of walk back some comments and take some criticism about
as commented of coaching and then how to correct that.
And then the defensive coordinator walked out, what's going on?
(27:47):
That's why I said walk out. It took y'all that
long to get that. Come on, guys, get quick with
me today. I just feel like there's something going on
out there. You're going to know a lot deeper than me.
Talk to us, man, what's going on in Chicago? Because
it's not something's up, it's not right.
Speaker 9 (28:02):
Yeah, and maybe the Bears should play into the road
because I think there's.
Speaker 1 (28:05):
Seasons I like, go ahead.
Speaker 9 (28:12):
Overall, you look at just how this week has transpired
for the Bears. I mean, first you have Justin Field
pretty much throwing his coaching staff under the bus. Then
he backtracked, which credit to him, he realized what he
had said was probably a mistake. Then you have a
coach uh pretty much on the team, and then the
(28:34):
top Chicago residents stealing things from the stadium, oh man,
and then oh and then I didn't even mention they
played the defending's Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs tomorrow
and pretty much looking zero to three right in the face.
And you know, I feel sorry for you know, the
(28:55):
Bears fans from Chicago. My wife is from Chicago, have
a lot of families and they're Bears fans and they
just really have nothing to look forward to. This season
started off, you know, optimistic too, with Justin Fields at quarterback,
and you know you have a new regime coming in
Dj Moore at wide receiver. But still it's the same
(29:16):
old Bears pretty much, and I think it's going to
be endo the road starting tomorrow when they are zero
to three, after they fall the Chief, you.
Speaker 2 (29:23):
Talk about the end of the road or you know,
the same old Bears. Well, it also looks like the
same old forty nine ers. They're having way too much
fun playing professional football right now, especially on the defensive
side of the ball.
Speaker 1 (29:34):
That's incredible with there.
Speaker 2 (29:35):
I mean some of the numbers that they've been putting
up on defense, some of the interceptions, some of the
force turnovers.
Speaker 1 (29:41):
But ultimately I watched that game and I'm looking at.
Speaker 2 (29:46):
Against the Giants and I'm looking at Brock Purdy put
the ball at risk a ton. I'm sorry, I know
he's undefeated as a starter, but like out of San Francisco,
is it just like it accepted that this seventh round
pick is going to be he's the number one guy
going forward because it looks I mean, obviously that got
Sam Darnold there, but he just feels like he pushed
(30:07):
the ball at risk way more than any quarterback that
I really expect to win major games.
Speaker 1 (30:13):
Is it going to be enough to matter?
Speaker 6 (30:14):
Though?
Speaker 2 (30:15):
With all the skill position players they got around him.
Speaker 9 (30:18):
So I have to push back on you a little bit,
because go back on a lot, baby, Come on, because
Hole Shanahan said last week that one of the things
that he really likes about brock Purry is he does
not turn the ball over. And you look at his numbers,
he's not turning the ball over. And the forty nine ers,
the reason why they are so successful is they're not
(30:39):
dependent on a quarterback position. They don't ask Brock Perry
to throw thirty yards down the field and make really
rik a lot of risky growth. Now he'll do it
at times, but he's not turning the ball over. He's
getting the ball to Deebo, Samuel Christian McCaffrey, George Kittle
and letting them do the rest with all those jackyards.
And they're performing well. And then they have the defense
(31:02):
that travels and can win games on the row. We
all know what Nick Bosakat do raining Defensive Player of
the Year. You got Fred Warner, who in my opinion,
is the best linebacker in the NFL. So based on
what I've seen from the forty nine ers the past
the first three games of the season, they're the best
team in the NFC.
Speaker 3 (31:21):
Tyler Dragon NFL Report of four USA Today in Right
Now Live with US Fox Sports Radio Martin and VJ.
Speaker 1 (31:27):
Tyler.
Speaker 3 (31:27):
I'm looking at all these injuries this week, man, and
I'm just shaking my head because I want the best
players to be out there. Bro, I don't like to
see guys going down. So we've already had Aaron Rodgers done,
Chubb done, Diggs done, is Trayvon and Trayvon scah Dicks.
Trayvon Dicks is done with the ACL in practice. I'm
not sure why they're going that hard in practicing Week two,
(31:48):
Week three. That's confusing to me. But we're aatrition, man.
What do you which one of these injuries you think
are gonna hurt the most? And I also want to
ask you about the Kareem Hump pick up. Is that
something we should look at and go they may be
able to replace or it's just like, man, that's just
a placeholder.
Speaker 1 (32:04):
Cleveland could be done.
Speaker 9 (32:06):
Yeah, I think the Nick Chubb injury hurts the most
because the Browns. You look at the way their rosters constructed,
they had a legitimate chance of winning the AFC North,
and without Nick Chubb, their best overall offensive player, I
don't see that happening. I feel like the Ravens they're
in the driver's se to win an individual right now,
and I think at some point the Bengals were turning
(32:29):
around a little bit and perhaps to pass the Browns.
So I look at that Nick Chubb injury as the
worst and insurmountable injury to overcome. When I look at
all the other injuries, primarily the Dallas Cowboys, I think
they can slightly overcome the loss of Diggs because they
still have a Number One corner on the other side,
(32:51):
and then you have that pass rush for Michael Parksons
and those boys, and that I mean, he's gonna be
arguably the defensive player of the year this year actually
the way he's performed the first two games. So I
think Dallas can kind of make up for that loss.
But I don't believe it was the Browns cast.
Speaker 1 (33:07):
And that was my pick, just to throw that in there.
Speaker 3 (33:09):
Michael Parsons a part of my one hundred and seventeen
vest of sports Uncle Vj's NFL predictions. I picked Michael
Parsons to win NFL Defensive Player of the Year, and
he's on.
Speaker 1 (33:18):
I'm with you, he's on. He's on track to do so.
Speaker 9 (33:20):
Oh yeah, I like your pick. I like your pick.
I got the same great minds, think of light.
Speaker 2 (33:24):
There you go, brother, And to your point on Nick Chubb, Tyler,
you've been covering the NFL for quite some time now.
Have you ever seen a quarterback find thirty five thousand
dollars for unsportsman Lon Kailas and two unssay roughness penalties
in the same game.
Speaker 9 (33:39):
No, I have not, and they were kind of weird penalties.
But you understand why they call those penalties and why
they place the fy in. Plus, if I'm Deshaun Watson,
I'm trying to keep my hands clean and everything clean
because he's under he is on the football field.
Speaker 1 (33:57):
All right. Came the Hour that's Tyler Dragon. You can
see a reporting on the NFL in USA today. I
don't know.
Speaker 2 (34:04):
Maybe he's doing a half hour at the comedy store
later on as well. You can see it on Twitter
at the Tyler Dragon. Tyler, thanks for joining us, my guy.
Speaker 9 (34:11):
Thanks for having me I took that Tupac then for.
Speaker 1 (34:13):
You, hot Tyler raise. It brings the other Tyler out.
Speaker 2 (34:16):
High right that tupas he had some changes today. All right, Tyler,
thanks for coming on. Coming up next on Martin to VJ. Uh,
You'll never believe this, but the Big Vanilla Funny has
a prediction. Yeah, how about that. We'll get to that next,
Martin VJ. Fox Sports Radio, Martin and VJ coming to
you live from the Tirek dot Com Studios. A big
(34:37):
day in college football going around. But the Big Vanilla
Funny has a previous I mean a prediction about the
Baltimore Ravens that he texted me and Brandon and said, Hey,
I seen the shirt segment for it.
Speaker 1 (34:48):
Yeah what you got?
Speaker 3 (34:49):
I want to make a proclamation prediction for player. So
it's not the Ravens actually the team, it's just a
player that they have. And I wasn't high on this
guy coming out of college, but just two weeks of
watching this guy, I'm like, Okay, he's the Goods and
I'm gonna make a prediction of a player that can
dominate the game today that I think he will be
(35:11):
like in about twenty four months. Ladies, and gentlemen, Zay Flowers.
They're slot receiver in Baltimore. In two years, we will
be saying that's the NFL's version at that point of
Tyreek Hill. You can put that on the ball. His speed,
his footwork, his route running, he's only going to get better.
(35:35):
You could tell he's a football player. You can go
put on the tape from Boston College. It looks good,
but a lot of it is against the lesser competition
of the ACC And that's how I judged it. When
I've lined up all the receivers coming out of college,
that's Zay. It about the fifth or sixth best receiver
coming out of school. But when I watch what the
(35:57):
system that they're running the way to, but they're using
him in Baltimore. He's an extension of the running play
and that's what I love the most. And he makes
guys miss in the phone booth. He's quicker than the
hookup a hiccup, excuse me, and he's tougher than a
two dollars steak. Like, this kid has the goods and
I need to see a lot. But I went back
and I watched the Cincinnati and Ravens game. I watched
(36:19):
it a total three times. I watched it when it
came on Sunday, and then I watched it two more
nights this week to really break that game down.
Speaker 1 (36:25):
And that's when I tweeted.
Speaker 3 (36:27):
Out there, Okay, I got a proclamation prediction I want
to make about a player, so Zay Flowers, I'm saying,
will be what we look at Tyreek Hill the way
we look at Tyreek Hill today in the last five years.
That'll be Za Flowers in the next season and a
half to two seasons.
Speaker 1 (36:42):
Mark it down.
Speaker 2 (36:43):
Tyreek Hill is probably the best wide receiver in the
NFL right now. Yeah, should have had two thousand yards
last year if they didn't have three quarterbacks in Miami.
Is on track to have two thousand yards this year,
even after a quote unquote down game against the Patriots. Yep,
I'm just making sure that you got you know what
I'm saying, good handle on what's going on.
Speaker 1 (37:01):
Listen, man, have you just put the tape on. I've
just put that. I've watched. You were big on it.
You were high on him coming out of college, so.
Speaker 2 (37:12):
I wouldn't I think it's listen, the idea that he
could be the best receiver in the NFL in two years.
Speaker 1 (37:18):
Is that's a big pillow swallow. No, let me tell
you why.
Speaker 3 (37:22):
I also said that I'm seeing a lot of these
bigger receivers that we love a lot starting to really
struggle now to find their way to actually have to
be a receiver and not just bigger than everybody. Because
the corners over the last five to six years across
the league are now starting to get bigger and they
can battle your Jamar Chases, they can battle your AJ Brown.
(37:45):
AJ Brown is finding trouble getting off of coverage, Like
you supposed to be a big dog, but he's a
bigger guy and you can't.
Speaker 1 (37:53):
You can only do so much with him pre snap.
Speaker 3 (37:56):
Right, So when I look at Zay Flowers and I
look at Tyreek Hill, I looked at a DeShawn Jackson.
You look at these type of guys where you can
move them so much. The reason why you motion is
to get press coverage off of him. He's a smaller guy,
so you don't want him going up against the six
two to two and fourteen pounds corner. You want him
moving so when he when the ball is snap, he's
(38:17):
got free release and that speed, the suddenness, the stopping go.
He doesn't like my favorite analogy with fast guys. He's
a Porsche or Ferrari. He don't go first, second, third, fifth,
he goes one, three, five. He punches that quick and
creates that type of space. And I go back and
I watch some old Tyreek film and it's like, wow,
that's how Tyreek came into the league. They were using
(38:39):
them kind of spotty, doing different things with him. And
then of course you get an Andy Reid who can
just make magic out of anybody. I love the coaching
staff in Baltimore. I've never heard nobody say nothing bad
about the coach staff in Baltimore. You got a quarterback
Lamar that you gotta account for. You're a top five
rushing team in the league. There's a lot to watch
than just to watch Zay, and that's why I think
his ascension markin and be so fast and be so
(39:01):
quick barn any major injury. I'm sticking with this man.
I watched this kid, and then I go back and
watch some young Tyreek tape. I see the same guy, Scott.
I mature, but I'm much rather jump out there now
and say, yeah, man, I told you all that two
years ago. Would say Flowers was going to be I'm
on that one. Well, there you have it, Tyreek Hill Jr. Yeah,
apparently drafted in Baltimore. According to the Big Vanilla Funny,
(39:24):
everybody write it down, write it. He will reminds you
every step of the way if this comes close to true,
just like I told y'all, Odell Beckham will be hurt,
you know at some point this year and be out.
Who's who's out tomorrow? Who didn't finish last week? Who's
out tomorrow? So I told you guys, I didn't trust
that receiving corps. But hold on, So which one is
it that got Tyreek Hi?
Speaker 1 (39:42):
Trust? Let me finish? I said.
Speaker 3 (39:43):
That's why during before the season, I said I did
not trust the receiving corps. But now that I see Flowers,
that mean I trust the receiving corps. But just get
Zada ball a lot, get real talk, gets it. And
Nelson Aguilar looks like he wants to have a second
win of a career. And I can respect that because
it's rope running is much better than it was. He
started to have a case of the drop seas he
hasn't done that in Baltimore and called his first touchdown
last week too, So I'm really liking what I'm seeing
(40:07):
out of those guys.
Speaker 1 (40:07):
But Zay's going to be the number one. I'll just never.
Speaker 2 (40:10):
Forget when else Algar was a Philly and that guy
caught a baby out of a burning building and he said,
I wasn't gonna drop like Agalara.
Speaker 1 (40:21):
That was amazing.
Speaker 2 (40:22):
Ohio State three, Notre Dame nothing at the end of
the first half. Sam Hartenman, you know Steve Harton was
talking about as a heismancandidate. We'll see, but I don't
think either one of these teams are the best of
college football. Martin and VJ. We'll dive into that coming

birthday like I had last year. Shout up to my
co host Marin. I walk into the party last week,
martening up in there. You're fresh with the ice with
the ice around his neck, chilling.
Speaker 1 (42:03):
We take at there and talk about that. Yeah, that's right,
that's right. Walked into his party and saw me there.
You know why I was there for his damn party?
You know who? I wasn't there when I got there,
the big Vanilla. Funny because I wasn't. First of all,
hold on, hold on, first of all? Is my wait?
Speaker 4 (42:18):
You gotta be late to your own breath, ain't you?
Speaker 1 (42:20):
It's my party. I gotta make an interest. Did you
see everybody?
Speaker 10 (42:23):
You?
Speaker 1 (42:24):
Lorena? Did Lorena?
Speaker 3 (42:25):
When I walked in, trust me, os turned, the eyes turned,
the bed.
Speaker 1 (42:29):
With everybody was like, where the hell's it been? When
the big Vanilla walked in.
Speaker 3 (42:33):
And I turned and I text everybody because the flyer
said four, But I text everybody.
Speaker 1 (42:37):
Listen.
Speaker 3 (42:37):
Things not gonna really jump off to about five five thirty.
So don't you don't don't worry about being in a rush.
Don't don't worry about it.
Speaker 1 (42:43):
Take your time.
Speaker 3 (42:44):
It's gonna be all good man, It's gonna be people there, food, drenks.
We had games, Jinga, Spades, checkers, chest Uno. We would
had the Dolphins, had the Dolphins spaking candy ass and
the Patriots on the big screen.
Speaker 1 (42:56):
There I walk in.
Speaker 3 (42:57):
Martin is sitting there chilling so I appreciate my co
host showing up is sticking around for a while, man,
and just rapping and watching the game. Every time I
cheer loud, Mart turns and looks at me. When I'm
yelling OOS or USO, Mark turns and looks at me.
I know he's like, hey, this dude is not going
to start with this OOS and his USO all all
year long. Note, but I appreciate you guys. Trust me.
Speaker 1 (43:15):
I really do feel the love, man, and I appreciate
you guys.
Speaker 2 (43:18):
So did your team, the Michigan Wolverines. Did they give
weij a good feeling today?
Speaker 1 (43:23):
Nah? Nah? Nah?
Speaker 3 (43:24):
Gave me an okay feeling. But let me let me
break it down. I think they're fine. I just think
they haven't woken up yet. And we're seeing this with
several teams in college football. I just don't think they've
woken up yet. I think they'll be fine. I think
there is a slight identity crisis with Michigan right now.
And I hate to say that because I thought I
had this team pegged for the last two to three weeks.
(43:45):
They're really now in the cross hairs of do we
want to continue to pound pound ground and pound, big
ten shim Bickler style three yards in a cloud of dust,
or do we want to hand it over to the
five star out of IMG JJ mc carthy And what
did I tell you sitting at the table, you and
crandall last week at the party. I'm not gonna speak
(44:06):
good or bad on him. I'm not going, you know,
bring up his play. He owes me three weeks. I
gotta watch three weeks. He's already cost me one bet
with Martin. I thought he was gonna have Mark eating
a piece of paper, a whole piece, not a piece.
He had to eat the whole piece of paper here
on the radio live. If he only threw three or
less interceptions. Well, he threw three last week, which in
one game, which is his worst game since he's been
at Michigan.
Speaker 1 (44:26):
And it feels like he's pressing.
Speaker 3 (44:28):
But it feels like he's pressing because there I feel
like there might be a slight identity crisis whether they
want a ground and pound or turn it over to
the big the big arm kid. And I think that's
where they're caught in the cross. Here is right now.
They better get it figured out soon. I don't like
the schedule as far as I think it's being tough
going into Penn State. The Penn State game. If it
was a night white out, I'd be worried. But it's
(44:50):
a noon kickoff. I think the big, big new kickoff
crew is gonna be there, so that's gonna be a
nine am kickoff, and I think they can win the game,
and then go on to Little Brother. We see how
bad things are going on on up there in East Lands,
and we don't have to reverb all of that. And
then of course then we get Ohio State, who can't
muster no more than three points at half in South
Bend tonight on national television.
Speaker 1 (45:09):
So not impressed, but not beefing, not upset. I think
they'll be fine.
Speaker 3 (45:13):
They're okay, they haven't woken up yet, but they got
to get that identity crisis together. The rushing attempts are
down Marin, So you know, I'm kind of confused.
Speaker 1 (45:21):
Is it on purpose?
Speaker 3 (45:23):
Is it they're trying to see trying to work something
these early games because they know they're playing lesser opponents.
So that's where I kind of stand. What might beloved
Wolverines and the rest of our football team Michigan with
the four and zero record zero and four against the
spread to start the season. If you're interested in that
type of thing, of which I definitely am, don't take
them to cover.
Speaker 2 (45:42):
They're not going to take Michigan to cover one bit.
I don't understand why it's not run left, one right,
run through the middle. You have Blake korm who was
a Heisman candidate last year, Donovan Edwards who might be
better than him, you know, especially last year. If they
give them runs they give me. I don't get it,
don't get in care. I've never been a huge JJ guy.
(46:03):
Just you know, I know, five star IMG all of that.
That's fine. I'm old enough to remember Tate, Fortyer and
Dinard Robins.
Speaker 1 (46:09):
Tate for a YouTube. Wow, so you want to talk
about YouTube? YouTube? Are real YouTube?
Speaker 2 (46:16):
Sam McGuffey, Sam McGuffey, Sam McGuffey.
Speaker 1 (46:22):
True story.
Speaker 2 (46:22):
I was on State Street once one my freshman year
at a frat party. All right, sounds like and Terrence Robinson,
who is a wide receiver from Michigan didn't play much
but also from Texas, was Sam McGuffy's roommate freshman year. Okay,
I was friends with t rob from just being around
and so we're at this party. I see him there
Saturday night, and Sam McGuffey is also there, right because
(46:45):
his the roommates together. Right, So this girl comes up
to me. Mind you, Terrence Robinson. It's probably two or
three inches shorter than me, but probably outweighed me at
the time in terms of muscle. Right, I'm a I'm
a tallest guy, about six three six two, So it's
not crazy for a guy to be, you know, shorter
than me and still be able to be an incredible athlete.
Speaker 1 (47:09):
Right. Scroll comes up to me, she goes, aren't you
saying mc guffy's roommate, to which I said, yes, yes.
I was about to say, did you take it? You
better had.
Speaker 2 (47:20):
That is the first of two times I was mistaken
as a Michigan football player in my in my academic
career at University of Michigan.
Speaker 1 (47:27):
Both times. Can I guess who the second one was?
I don't know if you'll be able to get it.
Go ahead? Were you were you? Were you mistaken for
Ronald Rowntree? No?
Speaker 2 (47:36):
No, no, no, not Roy Rounree, Roy ron That's all right,
So on the Michigan basketball team, right, so Michigan football, No, no, no,
So after the Sugar Bowl against Virginia Tech, I go
to a bar in the French Quarter.
Speaker 1 (47:51):
That game was in New Orleans.
Speaker 2 (47:52):
Go to a bar in the French Quarter, and like,
the entire Michigan football team is up there. And I
knew some of the guys on the team by that point,
you know, being in class and sol and they waved
me up onto the stage where everybody was yeah. And
I had on like a Michigan football sweatshirt that I
had gotten yeah yeah, but it wasn't yeah yeah, someone
(48:13):
gifted it to me, you know, athlet worm didn't give
it to me. So afterwards there were girls who came
up to me and were like.
Speaker 1 (48:20):
Great game.
Speaker 2 (48:22):
I've been at Michigan for four and a half years.
I never expected a win like this. And I was
just like me neither, yeah, me neither. Yeah, You're welcome,
you know, you welcome.
Speaker 1 (48:31):
We did him, I did. I got confused for Jordan Morgan.
Jordan Morgan.
Speaker 2 (48:36):
So if you ever have seen a picture of Michigan
center Jordan Morgan, you've seen a picture of me. We
do resemble one to them. He's a center, He's way
bigger than you. That's where the gap starts. And it
starts at height. I'm like, I said, six one six
two is Jordan Morgan six eight six nine ish. So
when I walked into the m Den and Briarwood Mall
and n Arbor, the last thing I was expecting was
(48:57):
for somebody to be like, oh my god.
Speaker 3 (48:59):
You played great against Yeah, you know, nice cut, nice
pancake block on that I formation dive on the goal line. No, dude, like, yeah,
maybe in the face, but a center in you that's
not even close by the way.
Speaker 2 (49:12):
Got the student discount, I mean got the athlete discount.
Speaker 4 (49:14):
So it is very close, very similar.
Speaker 2 (49:16):
And we're the same age too, So yeah, we really
do kind of resemble one.
Speaker 3 (49:20):
And that's weird because you know who, I get a
lot and I'm near I'm not nearly his size, but.
Speaker 1 (49:25):
People go, oh, you look like him in the face.
Fat Joe. Ahh.
Speaker 3 (49:29):
I get that so much I started using it in
my stand up comedy. Guys like that, so I get
that in Sinbad. I started using both of those in
my comedy because people would really think that I was
fat Jon. I'm like listen, They're like, no, no, no, no,
you're not big liking, but just in the face.
Speaker 4 (49:43):
And I'm like, Queen is coming up. You could pull
off this look.
Speaker 1 (49:45):
VJ. Nah nah nah nah. I will tell you guys this.
Speaker 3 (49:48):
In the fifth, sixth, and seventh grade, three years in
a row for Halloween, I was Heavy D from Heavy
D and the Boys.
Speaker 1 (49:55):
I was Heavy D. Eighth grade, I was kid from Kidding.
Play well, VJ.
Speaker 2 (49:59):
Go ahead and lean back as I watch a former
Michigan quarterback Kvee McNamara, he takes a sack on third
and ten about three minutes left in the second quarter
of that game. Penn State up ten to nothing on Iowa.
Right now, that's one of the most interesting subplots to
me in college football is the University of Iowa and
their offensive output. Yeah, because if Brian Farrens doesn't average
twenty one points a game, he's getting fired. And I
(50:21):
think we should probably have more stipulations to coordinators jobs
like this, you know, like I put it like this.
We just had Tyler Dragon on the bottom of the
last hour. He catch it on the podcast if you're interested. Right,
he's talking about Brandon Staley gave a five hundred and
thirty seven yards of offensive Week one.
Speaker 1 (50:39):
I feel like, you know, hey, defensive head coach. You
should be probably twenty thousand dollars.
Speaker 3 (50:44):
Fine, Yeah, you should. Probably you should get fine. You
should get fined for that. I'm with you on that,
you should get fine for that. But the thing with
Iowa was, wasn't kay mcnamir, wasn't he kind of talking
a little subliminal trash like two weeks ago, and he
was like, you know, I've never known what it felt
like for you know.
Speaker 1 (51:02):
Defense, have a defense like this? Or defense?
Speaker 3 (51:05):
You mean the number one ranked defense that helped carry
your average ass to a college football playoff and a
Big Ten title?
Speaker 1 (51:13):
You mean that type.
Speaker 3 (51:14):
Of defense, bro, You mean the same defense that Shut
I was like shut I would down in the Big
Ten championship game, Like okay, buddy, you better blow. You
better have a tremendous year, you know, an eighth year
senior by the way you're talking.
Speaker 1 (51:31):
So we'll see how that goes.
Speaker 3 (51:33):
Also, just the backtrack back to Michigan, Donovan Edwards today
six carries thirteen yards, and on one of those carries
he got an eight yard game.
Speaker 1 (51:42):
The bigger issue I have with honestly though, is the
six carries. I'm I don't know.
Speaker 2 (51:48):
I just don't understand what and this all the excuses
are gone from early in the earlier this season. Jimmy's
back right because you know, I was told by the
big of an Alafuni they're waiting on hardball again.
Speaker 1 (52:00):
But Jimmy and here he is.
Speaker 3 (52:03):
Yeah, like I said, I think there's an identity crisis
here man, And I'm glad we got the dub so
we can't fall that. These other teams aren't playing super
great today, so no one's gonna leap them the number two.
Everything goes stay stay chalk as far as all the
top teams winning when we look at the polls tomorrow
night when they come out before we go on a
Monday morning. But I'm not worried Martin, and I'm not
saying as a fan, I'm looking like, look, defense is
(52:25):
still stout. We still have great corners. The pick six
was a great playoff, you know, playing the tip drill
and not t I's video that used to come on
BT haveter dark just tip drilling football and you're and
you're actually focusing on the ball, making the interception and
then having the having the the the wherewithal to turn
and run like turn ain't go like you don't hear
(52:46):
whistle go. The referees have been taught on questionable plays.
You let the play play out, and they have they
have to go look at it again, then go look
at it again. But don't blow the whistle anymore. Let
some of these plays play out. So defense making plays
got some Rutgers got some nice players. But thirty one
to seven looks okay. I would have rather that been
like forty nine, forty eight to seven. I would feel
(53:07):
a little better. But I'm not worried about them. I
just think there's a I think I'm I think I'm
on this identity crisis. Think you your thoughts on that part, like,
do you feel like when you're watching them you're trying
to figure out who they are?
Speaker 1 (53:17):
Am I off on that?
Speaker 2 (53:19):
Part of me feels like I don't know if they
made JJ yiddial or what. But they're throwing the ball
way too much for my liking. Okay, they're throwing the
ball way too much from my life, especially after last
week when my boy had three interceptions.
Speaker 3 (53:31):
How many attempts to you, how many temps you think
he should be give me a window.
Speaker 1 (53:35):
Fifteen to eighteen on the Saturday.
Speaker 2 (53:37):
Throwing more than twenty. I think there's got to be
a situation in which Michigan is down, okay, because he
through twenty one today. Yeah, but it just it doesn't. Yeah,
I just don't like I feel. Number one Georgia right now,
they have a fourteen point lead over over UAB the
fighting Trent Dilfords that's going into the halftime. Texas rolling
over Baylor right now twenty eight to six. So the
(53:58):
rest of the teams in the top three holding serve
right now. Although I will say this Georgia in the
first half, they lost the first half last week to
South Carolina. They got off to a slow start against
ball State, who got boat raced today. You know, I
have not been impressed with Georgia's offense so far this season.
Speaker 3 (54:15):
Quarterback, man, when you switch your quarterback, that's the hardest
thing to replace in all of sports. Over your your
netminder goalie, or over your starting number one pitcher, your
cleanup hit or you're your top leadoff guy. There's not
a position that is harder to replace in all of
sports than the quarterback position in high school, college and
(54:35):
the NFL. And this year I spoke about it earlier
in the year that. I think the better teams that
are gonna be standing at the end will be the
teams with veteran quarterback leadership. You have enough Jimmy and
Joes to keep you in games and win some games,
like Georgia does. But earlier in this game was it
seven to seven in the second quarter? U beat once
again at home? Today Michigan tenths seven to Rutgers at home, No,
(54:58):
and the uts. You know best team in college football A,
I'll throw mine out there right now. I think it's
the Oregon Ducks because they're the team that's going out
there and they're doing what they're supposed to do. You're
supposed to as you said, boat race. These teams wood shed,
slap them around, whatever the case may be, whoop their ass.
Speaker 1 (55:18):
They're doing just that. No one's close to them.
Speaker 3 (55:20):
They're going out and be importantly putting ninety points on
the board, because you should put ninety points on the
board against them. You should dominate the trenches and blow
Colorado out today.
Speaker 1 (55:29):
And that's what they're doing.
Speaker 3 (55:30):
So my best team in the nation as it stands today,
I'm gonna tell my hat to Eugene Man.
Speaker 1 (55:35):
A football team that's up there them ducks coming up.
Speaker 2 (55:38):
We'll take a look at the top ten matchup Ohio
State and Notre Dame three point lead. They just Ohio
State with a three point lead. They just started the
second half there. We'll dive back into that one coming
up shortly, and you know Arkansas is threatening number twelve.
LSU and the family of Brian Kelly Martin vide Fox
Sports Radio. No, it's not the remix since Martin and
(56:00):
Vejy coming to your line from the Tirack dot com studios.
Speaker 1 (56:03):
By the way, hit us up at did two cents
on Twitter.
Speaker 2 (56:05):
I'm at Martin, whyse and Vjay is at the Big
Vanilla Funny and of course he could get at Fox
Sports Radio for the tweets. Vj you made a joke
about this earlier today. I'm trying to I can't even
tie into the music right now. Anyway. Alan Williams, Bears
defensive coordinator, left abruptly from the Chicago sideline sometime last
(56:26):
week and all types of rumors and misinformation going about
so why that exactly was? The Bear said he was
stepping away for health reasons. That's the one I'm gonna
go with until something else is confirmed. But nonetheless he
will not be there tomorrow as the Bears take on
the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs. Justin Fields
(56:47):
Will and his offensive coordinator Luetzi Will and head coach
Matt Ibrafus Will and in his one of the press
availabilities on I.
Speaker 1 (56:56):
Think I want to say it was Wednesday.
Speaker 2 (56:58):
Justin fieldsesday said that it coaching was one of the
major things that was holding him back, and then felt
the need to clarify the comments after practice. And then
on Thursday, during practice went up to head coach, went
up to off at the cord, Luke Getzi and gave
him a hug and the media viewing portion of the
practice to make sure that all the Chicago media saw
(57:18):
hey much ado about nothing here. I honestly thought the
quote honest Van Gundy and Dwight Howard well to me,
I thought hug part right, sure, but it wasn't.
Speaker 1 (57:30):
But Justin Fields wasn't doing exactly how Dwight Howard did
it right.
Speaker 2 (57:33):
He was like, yo, basically I don't like Stan Van
Gunty and then went up to him game a hug.
Speaker 1 (57:37):
Right he was about to get fired.
Speaker 2 (57:38):
I think, honestly though, when you think about a guy
that Justin Fields, who has been a first second read guy,
and then let me get out of the pocket, let
me go move around, let me make something happen.
Speaker 1 (57:48):
I think that's what he's saying about coaching when he's like, yo.
Speaker 2 (57:50):
I'm not used to reading three four guys on a play,
and it's making me think too much on the field.
I didn't hate it as much as everybody else did.
I thought the apology bit was a bit overblown, But ultimately,
Justin Fields has not been good so far in the NFL.
And call me crazy, but all through high school he
(58:11):
was the second ranked quarterback behind Trevor Lawrence. All through
college he was the second rate quarterback behind Trevor Lawrence.
Then the draft process comes and somehow Zach Wilson passes him, somehow,
Trey Lance passes him right, and then mac Jones was
argued to almost pass him right. Yeah, And a lot
of the hang ups that I saw when he was
(58:33):
at Ohio State and Georgia before you see in the
league now. But he has the ability to be a
productive quarterback. He has the ability to be a productive quarterback,
And I don't understand why you're not running like you're
dropping him back like he's Aaron Rodgers. Why not look
at what Anthony Richardson is doing, look at what Jalen
(58:54):
Hurts were doing, and just Lamar Jackson boom. Even there,
you go and COMPC COPYV into your playbook and then
just run it like that, especially in this league where
athletic quarterbacks are running the show right now.
Speaker 3 (59:08):
Yep, I'm with you on that, man, and I'm backing
Justin Field's on this. I don't he hasn't been good,
needing to have the Bears. That's why it hasn't been good,
because the Bears ain't been good. Five and twenty two.
Is this record twenty six touchdowns to twenty four interceptions
as far as is to turn over the inner excuse me,
touchdowns to interception ratio goes. He's at about sixty percent
of completion percentage right now in his career. But he
(59:31):
just got a bona fide number one. They let their
best running back go. It's a bet. And that's why
I asked mister Tyler Dragon we had them on from
USA today, the question that I asked him about the Bears.
What's going on up there? Something something's afoot like something's up.
This is not normal. This is a bad situation. And
he talked about optimism. I didn't have no optimism. I'm
(59:51):
not saying him. He said some Bears fans had optimism
going into this year. I had zero, zero expectator. Let
me tell you something.
Speaker 2 (59:59):
The amount of people going so it's about people who
are betting on Shador s Anders or Travis Hunter to
win the Heisman Peak one. I was like, I was like, okay,
I can see it. I don't think it's gonna happen,
but I can see it. The amount of people I
saw making bets for Justin Fields to win the mv B,
No would come on, no, no, no, I'm telling you there
were people that I know that I really value some
(01:00:21):
of their betting advice.
Speaker 1 (01:00:22):
I'm like, what in the world you'll see? Yeah, what
do you see?
Speaker 7 (01:00:25):
No?
Speaker 2 (01:00:25):
And see about how are we going to pass most
a proved player for MVP first of all?
Speaker 1 (01:00:28):
But anyway, yeah, no, no, I'm with you on that.
Speaker 3 (01:00:30):
But that's what and that's why I say, you know,
have some type of you know, uh, streamline, okay, like
the state of course of your opinion, which you're saying
Justin Field's winning the MVP. No, and that's my guy.
I like him and I'm gonna support him a stick
by him until they get him some better things going
in Chicago. But to tell me that he's gonna win
mv P this year, there's not enough pieces around him
(01:00:52):
for him to win five or six games. I think
Chicago's a three or four win team. Guys, they had
the number one pick for a reason. They had the
number one Remember they traded it. They had the number
one pick. They traded the pick to Carolina. They should
have had the number one pick, which means they were
the worst team in the NFL last year. And even
when the draft was over, there were plenty of people
(01:01:14):
that looked around and said, Wow, they didn't really help
themselves in the draft where they probably should have. When
you have a quarterback, and this is the recipe, and
it's crazy that it's taken so long for most people
to see. When you have an offensive coordinator type offensive
head coach that's calling the offense, call the plays, he
gets his quarterback, he puts the system in place. They're
normally middle of the road to successful but defensive minded
(01:01:37):
coaches with offensive star quarterback, it's not going to work.
But it just doesn't. There's so many examples. But I
put you back on that because here's the thing. What
type of coaches Deon Sanders? Deon Sanders he's now you're
not gonna like my answer. He's a football coach. But
that and that's on that football is the freaking point.
He had the football. But that's the point, because what
(01:01:58):
are we talking about? A defensive head coach a offensive
head coach? Like I understand, and it's been I understand
a talking point. But once you get to be a
head coach, you gotta be ahead coach. You gotta connect
with your quarterback. He's the most important person. That's what
I'm saying. That's your job. You're whether or not talking about.
How do you know how to do that? Cause you
you are the head coach. That's what you're saying. You're
(01:02:19):
the head coach. I feel what you're saying.
Speaker 1 (01:02:20):
You're the like.
Speaker 2 (01:02:21):
You gotta be able to do it. I don't give
a damn if you have to do it. You gotta
be able to connect with your offensive players or defensive players.
John Harball with the damn special teams coach. He can
figure out how to connect with his quarterback. You know why,
because he's a grown ass man calling the shots as
a head coaching Right now, I'm gonna give it to
Steve the Sager to let us know who's calling the
(01:02:42):
shots of college football right now.
Speaker 1 (01:02:44):
Steve, what's going on?
Speaker 8 (01:02:44):
But we had a very low scoring game at Notre Dame.
It's now Ohio State ten nothing in the lead, ten
minutes to go in the third quarter. This is a
Top ten matchup. According to the stat folks at Elias,
this was the lowest scoring first half in a Top
ten matchup since two thousand and six. It was a
three to nothing lead at the break for the visiting Buckeyes.
Now ten nothing on a sixty one yard touchdown run
(01:03:07):
from Traveon Henderson. It came right after a fourth round,
a fourth down stop, I should say, by the Ohio
State defense. We're trying to get word on an injury
that just occurred on that touchdown run. Star wide receiver
Marvin Harrison, who has just one catch for the Buckeyes tonight,
got rolled up on while he was blocking an apparent
ankle injury. He's been in the medical tent. Meanwhile, at
(01:03:28):
number twelve LSU, the Tigers are leading a couple touchdowns
in the third quarter. Now late third it is twenty
four sixteen over Arkansas, and the game on Fox TV
now as Washington State up thirty five fourteen on Oregon
State in the third quarter, and this is a battle
between top twenty five teams. Washington State's quarterback cam Ward
(01:03:50):
four touchdowns. He's twenty five of twenty nine for three
hundred and fifty.
Speaker 1 (01:03:55):
Six yards passing.
Speaker 8 (01:03:56):
Florida leads nineteen to seven starting the fourth quarter again
and Charlotte starting the third quarter. Number one Georgia ahead
of UAB twenty eight to fourteen. Halftime lead for Number
three Texas twenty eight to six at Baylor Penn State
ten nothing over Iowa at the half. A Number seventeen
North Carolina now up twenty eight to seventeen at pitt
(01:04:17):
Late in the second quarter, we're still an hour away
from the late game on Fox TV. Number five USC
will be at Arizona State, also in progress. About seven
minutes left. Georgia Tech is leading at three to Oho,
Wake Forest twenty three to nine. Colorado State is tied
after three quarters at Middle Tennessee seventeen seventeen wins for
(01:04:37):
Michigan and Florida State in the top five, fourth runand
Florida State in overtime. When at Clemson thirty one to
twenty four, Oregon forty two to six winners against Colorado, Utah,
and Alabama with victories. In Major League Baseball, I must
mention this game the Cincinnati Reds, which just over a
week left in the regular season, are trying to catch
up for that last wildcard spot. The Reds at home
(01:04:59):
to led the Pirates in the third inning. It was
nine to one going to the sixth. The Pirates now
lead thirteen to nine at Cincinnati. They've just scored four
in the top of the eighth inning. Games now in
the bottom of the eighth inning Philadelphia and Miami with
wins Cubs as well.
Speaker 1 (01:05:17):
By the way, that Miami win was.
Speaker 8 (01:05:19):
Over Milwaukee five to four with a run bottom of
the eighth on a wild pitch. The Brewer's magic number
to clinch the NL Central is still one over the Cubs.
Arizona at the Yankees rained out chance of rain tomorrow
as well. Atlanta at Washington was rained out. Victories for
Tampa Bay and Baltimore. The Orioles first in the AL
still leading the Rays by a game and a half
(01:05:40):
and the Rangers are winning over Seattle two nothing. In
the top of the ninth Marvin Harrison Junior is out
of the medical tent and attempting to jog on the sidelines.
He was injured as mentioned rolled up on while he
was blocking on the last touchdown run which gave Ohio
State the ten nothing lead at Notre Dame. They're approaching
mid third Quarterback to.
Speaker 2 (01:05:58):

Speaker 1 (01:06:25):
How you doing, I'm doing well? I got a quest?
Are you better than the padres one? A straight?
Speaker 2 (01:06:30):
Is this team finally waking up our producer brand? The
truth of just that of Michael Jordan fist pump. I mean,
is this team headed for the playoffs or what?
Speaker 10 (01:06:38):
Hey tick them?
Speaker 1 (01:06:39):
Forever?
Speaker 3 (01:06:39):
Man?
Speaker 10 (01:06:39):
I was holding on hope. I was holding on the
hope for the longest. I'm just finally good to see
them getting it together. And I hope they do make it, man,
because I want to see what they can do with
this loaded minus, because I would definitely be one of
the biggest disappointments in baseballs. They're not able to get in.
Even if they do just the regular season that they had.
Speaker 9 (01:06:54):
Still be appointment.
Speaker 10 (01:06:56):
Of course they make it, then you know you can
overlook that absolutely.
Speaker 1 (01:06:59):
Dumarge, good brother. How you doing today, man, I'm good
with day. How you doing, I'm doing outstanding?
Speaker 5 (01:07:03):
Man.
Speaker 3 (01:07:04):
Listen, we all know about the Braves and the Dodgers,
but give me a legitimate team in the NL that
can really shake up the playoffs. In about a month
from now, we're gonna all be sitting in the studio
looking around going what the hell just happened? How did
the Braves not you know, beat such as our How
did that such and such beat the Dodgers? Give me
sell me on a different team, man, instead of just
(01:07:24):
pinning in the NLCS.
Speaker 10 (01:07:28):
It's a no brainer. It would have to be the
Philadelphia Sillies. Really, I feel like they kind of struggled
this year. They didn't have the season that a lot
of people expected them to have, especially since they made
it to the World Series last year. They did kind
of struggle a little bit throughout the year. But I mean, yeah,
they still got a lot of name players from that team.
They didn't have Trey Turner, so that's a huge addition.
And I know it was a struggle for him at
times this year, but anything can happen once you get
(01:07:50):
into the playoffs. And he hasn't been playing a lot better,
so that's a positive sign. And obviously with Hoskins, that's
that's a huge loss. He's been out all year. But yeah,
I definitely she hasn't shaking things up. I mean they
got the eighth best bullpen era wise, the starting rotations,
tenth best, your tenth best ERA, so in the top ten,
and damn near every offensive statistical category. So yeah, I
(01:08:11):
wouldn't be surprised if the physics getting there and shake
things up.
Speaker 2 (01:08:15):
Ronald Lacuna had a forty forty season, and I'm not
talking about the club that jay Z used to own
forty homers forty stolen bases. What do you make of
Akunya this year? How impressed have you been by him?
Speaker 10 (01:08:26):
Man? It's such an awesome, such an awesome season to see. Man,
I'm so happy for a cooney where he's doing that.
Whole Atlanta based team is going crazy. But yeah, the
forty officially in the forty forty club, we're about to
be forty seventy club, three thirty seven batting average like
new does it all? It's crazy like he's baling right now.
Speaker 1 (01:08:44):
Forty seventy club. That's the same.
Speaker 3 (01:08:46):
I was about to say a forty seventy club. Goodness,
gracious my man. DeMar Jay Morris, mlb bro dot com
content reporter and also a party attender last week.
Speaker 1 (01:08:55):
I appreciate you.
Speaker 3 (01:08:56):
And missed the Curtis coming out to the party telling
my live. I appreciate the handog, and I love the
barbecue sauce. I'm already threw a bottle and a half
of that stuff. And speaking of and speaking of barbecue,
there's a state called Texas and a team called the
Texas Rangers. You were sending me little jokes and making
fun everybody in here was talking trash to vej because
(01:09:19):
them Rangers are slumping and they've been losing a lot.
Speaker 1 (01:09:22):
Here come to Mariners.
Speaker 3 (01:09:23):
But people forgot to say that Josh Young was out.
See it was out and the Valdi was out, and
now all those guys are back. They're up to to nothing.
I think we can finish off this game right now
on the top of the knife. That'll take two from
the Mariners that we could sweep from tomorrow. That it
gives a two game leader. Then you and I my
friend will be with our sons out of Anaheim and
the Rangers on Monday night. Tell me my Rangers are back,
or tell me that this is just fool's goal where
(01:09:45):
you leaning?
Speaker 10 (01:09:46):
No, I mean they're definitely back with those offensive pieces
being back. Those guys a huge Josh Jon Jonnaheim. You
know all those guys. I have been talking about the
bullpen for the longest, and that's that's been my only
worry with this team. That's literally been my only worry.
You have all these backs still trying to get back
to itself. I know it's only been a couple of
outings sent you back from injury, but having him, having
him back is huge, especially since you guys lost Serger
(01:10:08):
for the season. That was such a huge blow. I
would have loved to have seen what he was going
to do in the playoffs, because he was obviously motivated
and felt good to be out of New York and
you know, knowing that he was going to be playing
meaningful baseball. So I would have been super excited to
see what he did. But yeah, it's just a bullpen.
That's the only that's the only concern I have. I mean,
giving up for the Ears four point eight eight, you know,
that give us the second most home runs in the
league with eighty three. But I mean, now that you
(01:10:30):
guys got your offensive pieces back, that may be able
to mask some of that. You know, you guys can
get out to some hot star can put up some runs.
Speaker 1 (01:10:36):
So is there any way Max can pitching the postseason
your pay? Or is he done?
Speaker 10 (01:10:41):
I think he's done. I wouldn't even risk it, especially
if you got I'm pretty sure you guys are going
to bring him back, you know, so there's no point
in risking it and throwing him out there. And you
guys are going to have a lot of the same
guys back next season, So I would just you know,
put him on the shelf and just try to make
a run at it next year, you know, if it
doesn't go to your guys as well.
Speaker 2 (01:10:55):
Speaking of the playoffs, we had a couple. I mean,
Steve just had the Reds fight like hell to try
to get in there. That's my favorite team with all
the rookies. But what rookie do you expect to make
a difference this fall for a baseball team, like a
baseball team that's in the hunt.
Speaker 10 (01:11:11):
I would have to say Corvin Carroll for the Diamondbacks,
if they can get it, you know, I want to
say if they can beat it together, but yeah, if
they if they can get in, I definitely see him
doing some damage for them. He's a huge piece of
their team. He books and records himself out of historical
rookie season, And yeah, I would have to go with
Colvin Carroll from there is going to done the besk.
I know they still got an outside shut.
Speaker 3 (01:11:31):
Hey, I'm still on this whole thing man about Mookie
Bets winning the NL MVP. I know everybody else is
against me, man, but I'm watching him this past week again,
and I'm just watching the numbers, watching the production he
might be having one of the best leadoff seasons in
the last fifty years in Major League Baseball. Tell me
while I'm wrong, man, tell me why mookie bets are
at least give me your top three possibly in the
nl R AL that you think are going to be
(01:11:52):
an MVP when the voting's all said and done.
Speaker 10 (01:11:56):
Top three for AL, I mean, obviously, oh, Tiny's going
to be a three just because what he did in
the regular season. But I mean he's been out for
a little bit. He's gonna miss the last couple, the
last it'll go. So I would actually have Seger if
it was just a two man race, I would have
Seger and then Julio. I remember what Segar is doing.
Thirty two bombs, ninety four RBIs three, thirty three batting average,
I mean the ops. We talked about that a couple
(01:12:17):
months back, how that will go down as one of
the best statistical seasons for a shortstop. And then he's
first in batting average, second ops, and then amongst shortstops,
I think he's like first in home runs, RBIs OPB
Like he's going crazy right now. So I would definitely
have Secret and then Julio. But Julio was going crazy too,
and the Amanagers went on a nice little run at
(01:12:37):
one point, and I liked what he did. He turned
it up. They got off to a slow start. He
got off to a slow start. But Sieger is definitely
one of the main reasons why you guys are winning
and having the season you guys are having, So I
would have to put him up there.
Speaker 2 (01:12:49):
Well, I know one guy who never gets off to
a slow start, and that's you, my friend, lamar J. Morris,
MLB Bro Content Reporter, appreciate you joining us today and
every Saturday through the end of base all season. One
of these days is supposed to get you in studio
and do this thing face to face.
Speaker 1 (01:13:04):
What you say, pal, Oh No, we're gonna.
Speaker 10 (01:13:05):
Make it happen for sure. Yeah, before the season, We're
gonna make it happen, all right.
Speaker 1 (01:13:09):
That's my boy.
Speaker 2 (01:13:09):
The Marneymorris checking on all the social media is the
MLB Bro Content Reporter. Coming up next, Martin and VJ
will dive into the slate, the NFL slate. We'll look
at some of these plucky underdogs, see who's got a
shot to win outright. VJ is an ugly board this
week we'll see how it looks. Coming up next, Martin
and J with the Atomic Dogs. Martin and VJ coming
(01:13:31):
to your line from the Tireck dot Com studios.
Speaker 1 (01:13:33):
Hit us up on social media.
Speaker 2 (01:13:35):
I'm at Martin Weis's VJ at the Big Vanilla Funny
and of course we're on at Fox Sports Radio. Oh wow,
is that play gonna stand in this Ohio State Notre
Dame game?
Speaker 1 (01:13:44):
No, it's not, says Steve de Seger. Not happening.
Speaker 2 (01:13:47):
I love that air traffic controller, Steve Disager waving and
I'll say, no, I'm all over the buddy.
Speaker 1 (01:13:52):
Don't you worry you go back to hosting that show.
Speaker 2 (01:13:54):
Ten to seven Ohio State right now with the three
point lead over Notre Dame. But let's take this opportunity
now to dive into the National Football League where guys
are getting I guess I would say where guys are
getting paid, where there's a salary cap, because guys are
now getting paid in college exactly an il baby, I'll
love to see it. We wouldn't have coach Pine without it, right.
(01:14:15):
I hope it hit sports talk radio soon. In I
l the conversation.
Speaker 1 (01:14:19):
No, just in IL.
Speaker 2 (01:14:20):
Man, like you trying to get paid off your name.
Speaker 3 (01:14:25):
I'm waiting for it to hit sports talk radio. There's
not a person in this studio that would turn it down.
Of course I ain't exactly, I ain't the only one.
I'm like, I'm starting to convo. I am open to
advertising for your company. You can hear my voice.
Speaker 1 (01:14:38):
There you go. You want this voice to pitch your product.
Let's do it.
Speaker 3 (01:14:40):
Man, wait and got the tires. I told you guys,
I wait, I went and got the tires. I could
have went the you know, the local places, but no,
I went with the sponsor there.
Speaker 1 (01:14:48):
Without further ado, VJ.
Speaker 2 (01:14:50):
Let's do it every week around this time, we do
the Atomic Dogs.
Speaker 1 (01:14:53):
That's where we try to tell you which one of
these underdogs. Come Monday.
Speaker 2 (01:14:56):
You could sit back at the office water cooler and
be like, can you both.
Speaker 1 (01:15:00):
Believe that this team beat that team? Yes, you can
because you listening to Martin and VJ.
Speaker 7 (01:15:07):
They may be me, they may be ugly, but it's
time to open the cage because these dogs are gonna
keep barking if they don't get fat and they're hungry.
(01:15:29):
It's time for the Atomic Dogs.
Speaker 2 (01:15:32):
I'll go ahead and get us started here with an
atomic dog favorite of mine.
Speaker 1 (01:15:37):
Okay, let's go.
Speaker 2 (01:15:38):
We got the Cleveland Browns taking on the Tennessee Titans.
Speaker 1 (01:15:41):
No Nick Chubb but Ryan Tannehill for the Titans. I
don't know.
Speaker 2 (01:15:44):
That might be a wash and Ryan Tannehill pretty bad.
But I'll tell you this, Mirike Vabel as an underdog,
been an underdog forty five times in his career VJ
twenty three and twenty two.
Speaker 1 (01:15:55):
Straight up.
Speaker 2 (01:15:56):
That means they picked in the lose and you know
what he does, he walks in and wins.
Speaker 1 (01:16:01):
Give me the Tennessee Titans.
Speaker 2 (01:16:03):
As the Cleveland brown is trying to figure out what
the hell they're doing at quarterback Deshaun Watson. At least
you could afford those finds that he got after those
unnecessary Roupughs penalties.
Speaker 1 (01:16:12):
Has not looked good. I know.
Speaker 3 (01:16:13):
One their favorite saying is that you know what the
best bet is VJ No on that way, ones that way.
Speaker 1 (01:16:18):
That's so, that's an easy one. That's an easy one.
Speaker 3 (01:16:21):
So I'm gonna take another easy one and Brandon pay
attention to this one right here, man, because the Redskins
are a plus six and a half. Commander, excuse me,
the commanders I wrote down, Redskins. The Commanders are a
plus six and a half at home at FedEx Field
with Magic Johnson and new ownership group. That over runner
in the forty four tells me that Vegas thinks this
is a fist fighting. I think in fist fights, I
(01:16:41):
like defense, and I normally like the home defensive team.
Give me the Redskins here to disrupt with Buffalo think
they might have found to get to excuse me the
Commanders too, disrupt with the Bills thought they might have
found back last week in Orchard Park against the Give
me Redskins.
Speaker 1 (01:16:59):
Excuse me me the Commanders, the Commanders on the place.
Speaker 2 (01:17:02):
This is why they should have stuck with Washington Football team.
I love that name, and I'm gonna call them the
Washington football team here because not only do I agree
with you, VJ, I also put that in a whole
bunch of parlays. Not to mention tropical Storm Ophelia headed
towards the DNB area. I don't love Josh Allen and
the rain storm. Nope, no one bit. I'm going ahead.
Speaker 1 (01:17:22):
I am.
Speaker 2 (01:17:22):
I'm co signing that one with your brother and you
know who else I'm taking. You're not gonna love this
one bit. But did you know that Russell Wilson, Oh god,
after an O two starters fourteen and five straight up,
you know the other most profitable quarterback after going on
to Drew Brees.
Speaker 1 (01:17:39):
You know what they do have in common? Sean Payton's
the one called the plays.
Speaker 2 (01:17:43):
Miami Dolphins lose, all right, they lose to the Denver Broncos.
Speaker 1 (01:17:47):
You really should have won last what they lose? Ol guy? Okay, Yeah,
we're gonna put something on that right here.
Speaker 3 (01:17:52):
Listen, we were just talking about justin fields and talking
about everything going on with the Bears and the perfect thing,
the perfect thing to happen to more, it's for them
to go to arrow ahead and just lay down like
an Instagram outel All Star weekend. It just make it easy,
just give it up, just give it away and have
everything for Kansas City to look so great as come
(01:18:15):
back money and play.
Speaker 1 (01:18:15):
Wow, did you see how Kansas City look? But you
know what I'm gonna do. It's twelve and a half.
Speaker 3 (01:18:21):
I don't like, and I think Chicago's defense keeps it tight.
Tell me how great Kansas City has? How great Kansas
City's offensives looked? The first two week, guys, the defense
keeps them in this game. Mahomes makes enough plays because
they got the better quarterback, the better head coach, holefield advantage.
But I think the Bears defense and Justin Field's legs
(01:18:42):
makes a play or two to keep this game a
little close. Cover the plus twelve and a half. Give
me the Bears is my other underdog tomorrow. You think
the Bears are gonna beat the Chiefs?
Speaker 1 (01:18:52):
No, no, no, no, no this.
Speaker 3 (01:18:53):
I thought we were just doing the cover here right, No, no, no,
I hear you, I feel you.
Speaker 1 (01:18:56):
I think they'll cover the twelve.
Speaker 11 (01:18:57):
And a half.
Speaker 1 (01:18:58):
Allright. No, I don't think they're winning the game. I'm
just ill. No, I just wanted to get it, get
it on the record, now, that's all.
Speaker 2 (01:19:04):
That's why. Hey, this is all being recorded. No, I'll
tell you this. This theme has been up and down
the first two weeks of the season. I think Week
three will be an up one for your Pittsburgh Steelers,
all right, man, I know that they're three point dogs
going in to Vegas, which, let's be honest, Allegian Stadium
will be Pittsburgh West for that game. All right, it's
Steelers fans will travel Sunday night game. And look, if
(01:19:26):
I gotta watch Kenny Picking and Matt Canada in prime time,
they better damn win. I'm going ahead taking I'm taking
the Steelers on the money line there over the over
the Raiders.
Speaker 1 (01:19:35):
Who I think that game against Buffalo little fools gold there.
Speaker 2 (01:19:40):
I'm not loving the way the Raiders have been playing
this season, and I definitely don't love Jimmy Garoppolo.
Speaker 1 (01:19:46):
Give me the Steelers right there. I'm gonna give you
guys a surprise one for my last one. Right here.
Speaker 3 (01:19:50):
The bum ass Jets are oh and fourteen their last
fourteen games against the Patriots. Straight up, they're plus three
at home. Vegas has the old runner set at thirty
six and a half. This is gonna be a low
scoring game, and once again in low scoring defensive fistfights,
I like the better defense that's playing at home. Zach
turns the ball over, but Mac Jones is just as bad.
(01:20:12):
He sucks justice Mrs. Give me the Jets to actually
win this game tomorrow against the Patriots home with the
plus three hunderdalls from my last dog.
Speaker 1 (01:20:20):
I cannot disagree with that pick more. But that's all right.
That's what America is about Martin and VJ. Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 7 (01:20:27):

better Bill Krackenberger.
Speaker 1 (01:21:02):
Will have you covered three out before kickoff. Every Sunday morning.
Speaker 2 (01:21:04):
Listen to Countdown to Kickoff present by Bet MGM right
here on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 1 (01:21:09):
I'll tell you it's Jeff Schwartz.
Speaker 2 (01:21:11):
That's Geoff for those who are just trying to sound
it out. He was hilarious on Twitter today as an
Oregon alone getting his takes off pregame, mid game postgame
as Colorado walked into Eugene, Oregon and walked out forty
two to six losers. But I want to get back
(01:21:32):
to the NFL VJ because you made a point when
we were talking about Justin Fields and Matt Eberflus and
Luke Getzi and the whole operation in Chicago, and I said,
you know what, we're yelling each other at a commercial break,
Let's do this at the seven o'clock hour.
Speaker 1 (01:21:48):
What you got yep?
Speaker 3 (01:21:49):
Well, I feel like when you are a defensive minded
coach and you've become a head coach, I'm agreeing with
you where I say that you have to take on
all the responsibilities you have to take on hiring. You
need to get a better offensive mind in there to
make sure that your quarterback is good to go and
your offense is good to go and you can oversee everything. Still,
(01:22:11):
maybe even go get yourself a great defensive coordinator, even
though you're the defensive minded coach. But if you just
go through and look at the league and look at
the successful teams, the teams that win, the teams that
are always there towards the end, at least to the
division around, it's normally offensive minded style coaches and a
star type quarterback. The other way around just does not
(01:22:34):
work unless you have the goat and mister Thomas Brady.
Unless you got him, it's probably not gonna work. I
don't love Pat Mahomes as much as everybody else does,
but he's also got the best coach in football, who's
been one of the best offensive schematic guys and play
callers in football for the last twenty years. Guys, it's
(01:22:56):
nothing new. Andy big Red Reids been doing this. If
you go and you look at what's in Cincinnati, who's
their head coach, what is he known for? What type
of quarterback does he have? Let's go down to South
Beach where the quirky is told a really good story
on the Pivot too. If you haven't watched Mike McDaniel
and the Pivot talk about the pregnancy and his wife
and they couldn't have a kid and da da da.
It just really breaks down all the professional things around
(01:23:19):
him and you see the human he is. It makes
me love him as our coach, because you guys are
not play for the office too. As our coach, Yes,
as our coach, you just love him even more. Offensive
mind guy, run run, program guy in San Francisco, innovative guy,
who's he got quarterback? Mcveigh's he got quarterback? Shanahan, who's
he got quarterback? Look at the successful teams guys. Yeah, bro,
(01:23:41):
well it's working. I'm not gonna knock it. It's working.
And if I can go to to San France just
for ten seconds, listen, man, I'm sold. I'm sold on
him as a team. I'm not sold on party, but
damn they look good. They can stop you on defense,
they can rush the passer Bosa guy his money didn't
look like he missed no time from the field. They
can get the ball to her. So many different players
offensively doing what you love, Martin. He's doing what he's
(01:24:02):
asked to do. And I give Purdy that. I'm not
so that you're gonna go win with him, but I
agree with you too. And I was surprised to hear
you say this. The Tyler Dragon, he puts the ball
in danger's positions. Ball literally like the Giant should have
three interceptions the other night, the Giants should have had
three interceptions. Now that's on them. And if you get
away with it, you get away with it. But I
just I feel strong about that. You bring up hardball,
(01:24:22):
that's that's he's just you know, that's a small percentage.
He was smart enough to make sure you had a
good offensive coordinator for Joe flaccoh I got the defensive,
special teams. You take care of the offense. We get
Joe Flacco, get all these weapons. Go guess what we do.
Go win the super Bowl. Sean McVay, give me a quarterback.
Guess what we do.
Speaker 1 (01:24:38):
Not just go to one super Bowl, go to the
second one. Win it.
Speaker 3 (01:24:40):
So that's where I kind of stand on that the
teams that are struggling with a with a perceived future quarterback,
just go look at go look at Buffalo, right, we
think Buffalo's taking a standback. What's their head coach? Defensive
minor type guy he had Dabo? Dabo got away. What
happens they start to regress? I mean, proof is in
the put in and I don't even I don't know.
Speaker 1 (01:24:57):
I don't buy it. I know you don't. I don't
one bit.
Speaker 2 (01:25:00):
Because also too, you got to look at the hiring
cycle of NFL head coaches. We did this in the offseason,
and you kind of was like, wow, But if you
think about it, ten of these guys. Anywhere from five
to ten of these guys are gonna be fired in
the next fifteen week.
Speaker 1 (01:25:13):
Yep. Absolutely.
Speaker 2 (01:25:15):
And out of that you have Tomlin, Harbaugh, Shanahan, Bill Belichick.
Speaker 1 (01:25:25):
What are you nameing veteran coaches?
Speaker 2 (01:25:27):
I'm naming coaches that have been there for longer than
seven years off the top of my head. Those guys
you assume are not going to be fired, right even
McVeigh now at this point, been up there for Pete Carroll,
been there for a while. Okay, yeah, they're not getting fired.
They're not getting fired this year, right. But like a
guy like Kevin Stefanski, you're in year three, good luck?
Speaker 1 (01:25:49):
Yes, you know what I'm saying.
Speaker 2 (01:25:50):
Kevin O'Connell in the year two after you made the playoffs,
if he's taking a step back, if the Bikings take
the step back, hell, they're already going to good luck.
Speaker 1 (01:26:00):
Zach Taylor.
Speaker 2 (01:26:01):
I know that they made this play a Super Bowl,
But like when you watch the Cincinnati Bengals, are you
sitting there like, oh man, Zach Taylor's really drawing it up?
Or is it the Jimmy and the Joe's it's Jamar
Chase t Higgins, Tyler Boyd, Joe Mixon mix and Joe
Burrow tying it all together right. And then defensively, lou
Ana Roumo is the guy getting it done right.
Speaker 1 (01:26:24):
What matters about being a head coach is being in
charge because.
Speaker 2 (01:26:29):
Everybody has everybody on the team has a designed role,
all right. Your offensive coordinator's role is to get first
downs to score points. Your defensive coordinator's role is to
stop the offense from getting first downs and stopping for
scoring points. Your special teams coach make sure that the
kicker kicked the ball straight and you're not, and you're
disciplined in your right down and you're covering kicks. The
(01:26:53):
only person whose job description has win in it if
the head coach, So like me, with offensive head coaches
and defensive head coaches and so on, it's a lazy
cop out.
Speaker 1 (01:27:06):
And I'm not saying that's what you're doing in this Smom,
I get with you.
Speaker 2 (01:27:09):
It's a lazy cop out to make an excuse as
to why this defense is not good or this offense
is not good, like Kyle's like you know why. A
big part of the reason why I imagine the Bears
offense is no good Luke Ketch. He's never called plays before,
all right, Am I saying Justin Fields is a world beater?
Speaker 1 (01:27:29):
I'm not.
Speaker 2 (01:27:30):
However, we assume that because this guy was hired to
do the job, that he is by definition going to
be good at it. And it is a mind boggling
assumption when you see the turnover in the coaching ranks.
A third of the league is going to fire their
(01:27:51):
head coach in the next twenty four months. What did
it matter if it was offensive or a defensive guy. No,
what matters is a guy who can figure it out. Yeah,
that is a guy who could take responsibility for all
of it. Because you know what why I was down
on the forty nine ers to start the year because
they have lost so many coordinators. Robert Salah is going
to ran just going and Demiko Ryans took Bobby slow
(01:28:12):
Nick with them from San Francisco, and then you take
Mike mc daniels, former run game guy. All of these
guys now save Bobby slow Nick, are head coaches. Right,
that's a lot to lose. But you know what, Kyle
Shanahan keeps doing.
Speaker 1 (01:28:26):
Make it good.
Speaker 2 (01:28:27):
Hires you don't want Steve Wilkes Carolina I'll come over
and have this guy being a completely Look, Steve Wilkes
is what's the word.
Speaker 1 (01:28:35):
He's underemployed. Maybe the second best defensive football behind Allas,
He's underemployed. Right now.
Speaker 2 (01:28:40):
It's like having the manager working the register, right with
Steve Wilkes being the defensive coordinator because he is good
enough at this point, has shown he is good enough
to be a head coach.
Speaker 1 (01:28:51):
Right, So you know what Shanahans said, No, no, no,
bring run that. Come back over here, come back over here.
Speaker 2 (01:28:57):
Meanwhile, Arbart Salaz hiding that Daniel Hackett to be his
offensive coordinate what they also thought they would have to
their defense on that they also thought they would have
discount double hi. I understand you think you're gonna have
Aaron Rodgers, but what is it about what that Daniel
Hackett day last year makes you think you want to
run him in and call your offense? Like I get it,
(01:29:18):
but like maybe just not the best idea, because that's
why the Broncos hired him too, right, It's just it
gives all these coaches an excuse as to why they
are not out there producing. Oh you know, you gotta
wait for Brenda Staley, his defense has got defensive head coach.
Speaker 1 (01:29:36):
The Chargers have had zero turnovers this year and.
Speaker 2 (01:29:38):
Can't win Why because that got a five hundred yards
offense to the Miami Dolphins.
Speaker 1 (01:29:45):
And then blew it in Week two?
Speaker 2 (01:29:47):
Oo shit Like so, like, where's Brandon Stanley's great defense
to the Titans? Where to the Tights to this? Where's
Brandon stas great? Ryan Tannehill looking like Steve mcdair.
Speaker 1 (01:29:59):
Right, So the whole missed me with that.
Speaker 2 (01:30:02):
And you know the number one we're talking about the
biggest difference right now in football as a whole. It's
Deion Sanders. You tell me what kind of coach Deion
Sanders is. It's the offensive coach. He a defensive coach.
Speaker 1 (01:30:16):
He's a CEO. He's a CEO exactly. He's a c
He coaches the whole damn game. He coaches the whole program,
the whole program.
Speaker 2 (01:30:25):
He's not afraid to walk down to Shawn Lewis, who's
been a head coach in college, and say hey, we
need to do this on offense, go to this defensive
courter and say hey we need to do this on defense.
Speaker 1 (01:30:33):
You know why, because that's his damn job.
Speaker 3 (01:30:35):
There was an exchange in practice between him and the
decordinator earlier this week. They didn't get a lot of
pub but they there was an exchange between them where
he was trying to get his defensive coordinator. I guess
he basically what happy with what was going on in
practice and let him know about it in front of everybody.
Speaker 1 (01:30:50):
It's it's just mind boggling.
Speaker 2 (01:30:52):
And I know Alabama hasn't looked great this year, losing
the Texas seventeen to three to South Florida. Handled a
little myths today, but still not necessarily as dominant as
you'd expect. Yeah, but Nick Saban has a twenty nine
to three record against his assistance.
Speaker 1 (01:31:07):
You know why because he hired good ones after they left.
Speaker 3 (01:31:10):
Yeah, he did, and they can't come back, and they
can't come back and beat him. Now, my rebuttal to
that would be this, though, the ultimate goal is to win.
Like the win the championship is the ultimate goal. You
could get by with maybe five hundred fifty eight percent
winning percentage as a defensive mine a head coach.
Speaker 1 (01:31:27):
But if you go look at.
Speaker 3 (01:31:28):
Just to pass twenty Super Bowl winners, just the last twenty,
if you take Belichick Okay, Belichick's got seven or six
of those, right, you take those six out. The only
all the defensive minus style coach that would have one
one would have been Pete Carroll.
Speaker 1 (01:31:43):
It would be John Harball.
Speaker 3 (01:31:45):
All the other coaches are more, like I said, connected
to the offensive side of the ball, connected to their quarterback.
I agree with what you're saying it what a head
coach should be. But I do believe that when you
are a head coach and you are overseeing the entire
operation and you are the offensive brain on the team,
I think that matters a lot more because at the
(01:32:07):
end of the day, yeah, they defense wins championship. No,
well wins championships is who scored the most damn points?
And you score points on offense unless you get a
defense to get a pig six or scoop and score
our block or block kick return.
Speaker 2 (01:32:19):
But for the most part you scored. Yeah, exactly. But
can they can they carry that? Can they carry that?
Speaker 7 (01:32:28):
Now?
Speaker 3 (01:32:28):
Mike Tomlin also sorry, defensive minded guy too, but I
mentioned him doing a commercial break. He's smart enough to
hire Todd Haley that could come in and work with
your quarter your superstar quarterback, your franchise got and Big
Ben Roethlisberger. I just think that when you're a defensive
minded coach and you're gonna get the head coach of Josh, fine,
but you better bring in the greatest free agent mind
(01:32:49):
out there offensively because if you don't, you are going
to succumb to being fired, like Martin is saying, in
two to three, maybe four years, and you're gonna could
come to your quarterback looking like he can't get it done,
but you're not giving him the power that he needs,
you not giving him to teaching tools to.
Speaker 1 (01:33:04):
Chicago Justin feels he's better coaching. Bro.
Speaker 2 (01:33:08):
The thing about the Super Bowl champions, that's a missnomer.
And I found this out doing this research. When everybody's
talking about, well you look at the winning running backs,
and this is you know, running backs don't matter because look.
Speaker 1 (01:33:18):
At the last Super Bowl win, right, Okay, cool, you
let's go. Let's let's just run it back.
Speaker 2 (01:33:23):
Kansas City Hall of Fame quarterback Patrick Mahomes the Rams
won the one before that.
Speaker 1 (01:33:28):
Mats Stafford.
Speaker 2 (01:33:28):
I don't think he's a Hall of Famer, but there's
a lot of people who are on that corner.
Speaker 11 (01:33:32):
Right.
Speaker 2 (01:33:32):
I'm sorry, I watched Aaron Rodgers run that division for
way too long to say mass Saford's a Hall of fame.
Speaker 1 (01:33:35):
That's not fair. But that's neither. That's not fast.
Speaker 2 (01:33:37):
Stafford, highly talented, former number one overall pick all right.
The next year, Tampa Bay Tom Brady, First Battle, Hall
of Famer, the next year Kansas Are the year prior,
Kansas City another first Battle, Hall of Famer, Tom Brady again.
Before that, Now you get in the Philadelphia who had
Carson went to Nick Foles.
Speaker 1 (01:33:53):
That's weird. But I'm just saying like that's more in
one of those. That's weird, Doug p.
Speaker 2 (01:33:59):
Then you had New England the year before that, Tom Brady, Denver,
Peyton Manning, New England tom Brady, and then Seattle the
year before that. So if you go back in the
last ten years, right, I agree you should try this
draft the Hall of Fame quarterback. You'll probably win the
Super Bowl, right, But if you can't, I would look
at the teams that are the most successful. Look at
a guy like Kyle Shanahan, what is he doing, hey
(01:34:22):
sign trading for Christian McCaffrey, the most probably the most
exposed back in the game, and then be hiring new guys.
And he's had a period of consistency throughout Philadelphia Eagles, right,
they won a Super Bowl in twenty seventeen.
Speaker 1 (01:34:35):
Ben In them been pretty much in the fight.
Speaker 2 (01:34:37):
They're out Why because they're hiring new guys.
Speaker 1 (01:34:41):
It's just the.
Speaker 2 (01:34:42):
Thing about it is it drives me nuts to hear
about how you can't You can't win with an offensive
head coach. You can't win with a de defense head coach. No,
either one. You can't win without a head coach. It's
not going to take responsibility for all three phases of
the ball because that's what his job is. Everybody else
has a different job that the head coach is the
only one with the win loss.
Speaker 1 (01:35:02):
Record attached to it. And never forget it.
Speaker 3 (01:35:04):
I'm not disagreeing with you, but if I had a coin,
if I had a choice to take offensive our defensive
minded guy, like in Miami, if somebody goes at VJ
you want offensive minded guy for tour or defensive minded
coach and saying, no, give me the offensive minded guy
because we got to develop tour. Please, you can get
somebody to come coach to defense, but we gotta develop
our quarterback and it needs to be the top guy
there that's doing it just the way I would like it.
Speaker 2 (01:35:26):
I think the top guy needs to be in charge
of everything, not just the quarterback, because everything is what
he's responsible for.
Speaker 1 (01:35:31):

Brendan Brody says, I'm not.
Speaker 2 (01:36:05):
Loving Jimmy g either, but I'm loving the Steelers offense
even less. The Raiders defense did enough in Week one
versus Denver. Plus the only thing that's Garvey about Pittsburgh
is the pass rushing, he says. Vegas twenty three, pit

know Week one Vj's a time for optimism, a time
(01:36:46):
for happiness, a time for everybody's oh and oh, everybody
got a shot to go to the Super Bowl, felling good.
And then it all comes crumbling down around this time
when you see some of the oh and two stats
of teams that aren't gonna make the playoffs, teams that
aren't gonna you know, it's one of those things.
Speaker 1 (01:37:07):
It's like, man, you know, the season is not over yet,
but but it is. It's getting dark early.
Speaker 2 (01:37:14):
It's getting dark early, both in Minnesota and Los Angeles.
The Rams too, and oh that's not who I'm talking about.
The Chargers, the team that nobody in LA knows is
even here. Two I mean, oh and two Vikings, oh
and two they match off this weekend. And I think
that I know, we just went on. I went on
this whole rand of our coaches being fired every every
I think we are looking at the first coach to
(01:37:36):
be fired in this matchup, and I think it'll be
Brandon Stay.
Speaker 1 (01:37:39):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:37:40):
I think that's because most people want him fired. But
from everything that I've heard is that the front office
is in on him. At least they're not. I don't
think they're gonna fire him during the season. If they
were gonna do that, they should have just fired him
last year after the debacle of the Jacksonville Wildcard game.
If you're gonna fire him, he should have done it then.
But they're saying they're bought into him. Do you really
(01:38:03):
want to have to uproot your coach and pretty much
wave the white flag with your star two hundred and
what thirty forty million dollar quarterback?
Speaker 1 (01:38:13):
You're running back? Who is now?
Speaker 3 (01:38:15):
Remember when I told you Martin, watch some of these
running backs that were fighting for money, not saying they're
faking injuries. I would never go there. But just are
you focused the Attritionian of your body? Are you taking
care of things? He's out? He was part of out.
Say Kwan's out, he was part of out. Like these backs,
you don't have your weapons. You're going into this game
with the Vikings. I like the Vikings to actually recover
(01:38:35):
more than the rest.
Speaker 1 (01:38:35):
Of these two and oh teams.
Speaker 3 (01:38:37):
I don't think they fire O'Connell enduring the regular See.
I don't think this game cost him his job either.
They made the playoffs last year, they still have weapons.
It's still early enough to write the shit with some
of these teams. But I do think that whoever loses
this game is out of the playoffs. Whoever loses the
Chargers at Minnesota tomorrow, which I will have my eyes
locked on as I sip on my Columbian coffee and
(01:38:59):
have my over eggs and hash Browns for breakfast and
my turkey sauces chilling with my kids. Martin loves when
I mentioned my kids, So I gotta do that so
he can go. I know, because you're telling me and
my son and my daughter and you put them up
on your lap, and you know, invest in sports and
YadA YadA YadA.
Speaker 1 (01:39:13):
So how with my kids? What is this, Like Bob,
I am why I do live with all that's right.
Speaker 3 (01:39:19):
That's right, But I do think Martin the team that
loses this game season over. But I'm taking the Vikings
in this game. I like the Vikings at home. I
like the Vikers to recover man. They could have easily
won both the games they lost. I'm not gonna you, guys,
will be no Kirk Cousin bashing. He's doing what he
needs to do every quarterbacks turning the ball over. So
I don't want to hear about that either. This defense,
uh might have some problems. And then I do believe
(01:39:44):
cam Akers addition is going to be really big and
ain't really helpful for them too.
Speaker 1 (01:39:48):
So I like the Viks to win this name. But
I think whoever loses this game is not going to
the playoffs.
Speaker 2 (01:39:54):
Player loser leaves town match here, and I think that
the loser will be the Chargers because here's the thing.
Vikings have lost six fumbles early on this year. That's
a lot. That's a lot, that's a season. That's a
lot of lost fumbles. Going to be hard to overcome
that margin. But as we know, when we as we
(01:40:15):
judge defenses, a lot of times things like fumbles are
kind of happenstance, right, especially who recovers them, by the way,
are kind of happenstance. Giving up five hundred and thirty
yards on defense and then following that up to give
up twenty seven points to a team that had to
score twenty seven points in a game offensively in like
(01:40:36):
three years. Those are two that are hard to come
back from. And when you think about some of the
troubles that Kirk Cousins has had this year, a lot
of them came that Week two game. A lot of
them came when he was getting pressure, getting hit, fumbled.
Speaker 1 (01:40:54):
The ball, that type of stuff.
Speaker 2 (01:40:57):
Joey Bosa and Khalil Mack did not hit to a
tongue about low in Week one at all. Ryan Tannehill again,
I said earlier, looking like Steve McNair, Franz Arkinson was
not having any trouble against that defensive line, and I
don't necessarily expect it to change anytime soon.
Speaker 1 (01:41:17):
That's why I'm going with the Vikings in this one
as well.
Speaker 2 (01:41:19):
And I think you got to really look at Brandon
Staley as a guy.
Speaker 1 (01:41:23):
I know there's tons of optimism in.
Speaker 2 (01:41:25):
The room, but if it was one of those you
know ever really were looking at a case of you know,
Dean Spano's not wanting to pay the contract that we're
hiring a new head coach, which again fired head coach.
Has got to be the best job in the best
job in the worst job in the world, second best
job in the world.
Speaker 1 (01:41:44):
Up that anchor.
Speaker 2 (01:41:45):
I've known that from doing it this morning, Steve the Sager,
what you got, my friend.
Speaker 1 (01:41:48):
Notre Dame.
Speaker 8 (01:41:49):
It's holding gone to the lead at home with about
a minute and a half to go. It's fourteen to
ten over Ohio State. A huge moment with about four
minutes left when Ohio State had driven down to the
Irish eleven yard line on third and one, stopped and
on fourth and one stopped for no gain. Still a
four point Notre Dame lead again a minute and a
(01:42:10):
half left, and yes, LSU has won at home. Twelfth
rank Tigers thirty four to thirty one over Arkansas on
a short field goal in the final seconds. The Iowa
Hawk guys not known for offense, have two first downs
tonight in the rain at Penn State two. He said
early fourth quarter, it's twenty four to nothing Penn State
(01:42:30):
rank seventh leading Iowa it's mid third quarter at pitt
Number seventeen North Carolina leads at Pittsburgh thirty eight to
twenty four, eight minutes left in the game. Number three
Texas ahead big at Baylor thirty eight to six. Number
one Georgia forty two to fourteen over UAB early in
the fourth and about four minutes left on Fox TV
Top twenty five matchup as Washington State still ahead of
(01:42:53):
Oregon State thirty eight to twenty eight. JUAZU star quarterback
cam Ward over four hundred yards passing and four touchdow downs.
Oregon ranked tenth beat up Colorado today forty two to six.
It was forty two to nothing early in the second half.
Number eleven Utah scored against UCLA on a pick six
on the game's first place from scrimmage and fourteen to seven.
(01:43:14):
Utah was the final ut Star quarterback Cam Rising is
still out after last season's knee injury. Overtime win for
Number four Florida State thirty one twenty four at Clemson
as the Clemson Tigers missed a twenty nine yard field
goal attempt with under two minutes left in regulation. Victories
for Michigan and Alabama. By the way, Bama, ranked thirteenth,
(01:43:35):
was trailing at the half seven six against Old miss
did beat him twenty four to ten. However, this is
the first time in over twenty years that every team
in the SEC West has lost before the start of October?
Is that still Bama's division? Who's going to beat him?
LSU struggled as much today. You got Blauburn and Mississippi
State and A and M I'm not sure who's going
(01:43:57):
to take that division. We had wins for the Duke
in Miami, for Tennessee and Florida Gators. He'll do five
field goals in a twenty two to seven win over Charlotte.
Maryland won its game at Michigan State thirty one to nine.
To baseball, The Pittsburgh Pirates engineer their largest comeback in
franchise history tonight, down at Cincinnati nine to nothing after
(01:44:18):
the third inning, down nine to one in the sixth,
Pittsburgh thirteen to twelve the final as the Reds, fighting
for a playoff spot, in the bottom of the ninth
left a runner at third, strikeout and fly out to
end the game. Texas shut out Seattle two to nothing.
The Rangers started the day first in the AL West
half game over Houston. Houston has lost at home three
to two to Kansas City, which out of the Blue
(01:44:40):
has won five in a row. Speaking about of the
Blue winning streaks, the Padres have won eight in a row.
They're up one nothing on the Cardinals in the bottom
of the sixth wins today for the Cubs in Miami,
Philadelphia as well Baltimore and Tampa Bay each one. That
Baltimore win was two to one at Cleveland. Cleveland just
one hit today, a seventh inning homer. The Orioles are
first in the AL, still leading the Rays by a
(01:45:03):
game and a half. Dolphins wide receiver Jalen Waddle is
out tomorrow with a concussion. He took an illegal hit
at New England. Last game Denver's at Miami. The Saints
place running back Jamal Williams on ir with a hamstring injury.
He'll miss at least four weeks. Rookie running back Kendrey
Miller will make his debut tomorrow. Saints at Green Bay
is the Fox TV game Sunday. Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow,
(01:45:24):
with his sore calf, questionable for Monday night against the Rams,
Cincinnati signed quarterback AJ mccerrn to the practice squad. Update
Notre Dame fourteen to ten over Ohio State about a
minute to goo the buck. Guys have driven past midfield
back to you.
Speaker 3 (01:45:40):
Thanks Steve, Hey, Steve, just real quick, man. We were
talking about Alabama.
Speaker 11 (01:45:43):
You know.
Speaker 1 (01:45:43):
I love to bring you in, Steve and throw something
away each week. Man, I'm with you.
Speaker 3 (01:45:46):
We kind of rode off in me included made it
rode off Alabama. We as far as as far as now,
I've run him off as far as n we we
now you yeah, yeah, we did. We we a team.
You're gonna have to jump on one of these things.
Whitney marts against me.
Speaker 1 (01:46:00):
You want to said, Dayly Monroe can't play anyway. I did, No,
I didn't.
Speaker 3 (01:46:04):
But I'm with you on this. I look at this schedule.
They got LSU in Tuscaloosa. I think it's like November
seventh or something like that. That could be the That
could be for the West. Right, Alabama can still somehow
with no quarterback in all these question marks, still be
representing the in the SEC Championship game.
Speaker 1 (01:46:22):
And then right when you get to that game, any
anything can happen.
Speaker 3 (01:46:26):
Right, and next thing, you know, Bama's Bama's you know,
are they gonna be the fourth team and or the fifteen?
Speaker 1 (01:46:32):
You know, you know they're gonna be right on the outside.
So I'm with you on that. I don't think anybody
else on the Western beto but LSU.
Speaker 3 (01:46:38):
But as you mentioned, LSU already dropped to Florida State,
and you struggle at home to beat A you give
up thirty one points.
Speaker 8 (01:46:45):
For all the Bama struggles at home, They're hardly alone
the right vision in that regard. And the conference season
just started here. Bama was down at the half today,
but one last week they were tied three to three
third quarter at South Florida, but did win. Mil Row
did not play that game. He was at quarterback this game.
They still have problems, not just by Alabama standards. They
(01:47:05):
have problems, but by Alabama standards. People out of sight,
out of mind thought, well, they're not a top ten team,
let's forget about them. They could still win their division.
They're out of the top ten for the first time
in eight years. Yes, one hundred and twenty eight straight
weeks Bama had been in the top ten of an
APO pole, the record by the way is still one
hundred and thirty seven straight weeks in the top ten
(01:47:27):
by the Miami Hurricanes through nineteen ninety three.
Speaker 3 (01:47:30):
We'll find out a lot about them in the next
two weeks at Mississippi State, at Texas A and m
not great teams, but now this struggling Bama team has
to now go on the road in conference. We'll find
out a lot about Alabama in next ten.
Speaker 8 (01:47:42):
Meanwhile, in the other division, Georgia still does not play
a ranked team for the first couple of months of
the season, So standby.
Speaker 1 (01:47:50):
See that's the type of stuffs.
Speaker 2 (01:47:52):
Conference realignment is going to take that out of the game,
because unless you run through and win the SEC, if
you're Georgia, you're going to have to play some people.
You know what I'm saying, You're gonna have to play
with Georgia. But but like, all right, but if you're
Georgia and I don't have the schedule in front of me,
so forgive me.
Speaker 1 (01:48:07):
So I got you. But if they lose one of
the crossover games to a team in the West, right,
if they lose to whoever they have in their cross
with Auburn, Okay, they lose Auburn Let's say they lose
to Auburn next that's next week, in three weeks, three weeks,
all right, they lose to Auburn, that's a game.
Speaker 2 (01:48:23):
Look, it's hard to win games at college football, especially
rivalry games, especially games you see all the time.
Speaker 1 (01:48:28):
It's teams that you're familiar with, and you know it's
hard to win those games.
Speaker 3 (01:48:32):
I'm correct, I'm sorry at Auburn next week, You're right,
thought next week, Now.
Speaker 1 (01:48:36):
That's a that's a tough game. Like, I'm sorry, I
know Auburn has to look great shakes, but that's a
tough game.
Speaker 8 (01:48:42):
That's going to be in the traditional CBS three thirty
Eastern next year. Did you notice today opposite Colorado, CBS
just kind of punted. They didn't put their number one
guys in the booth for their afternoon SEC.
Speaker 3 (01:48:56):
Because they didn't want to go against coach Brown. They
didn't want to go against.
Speaker 8 (01:49:00):
That's all you need to know, because for those who
haven't heard, the ratings have been phenomenal for the first
three weeks of Colorado football. I mean, networks fighting over
themselves to get a piece of this on their schedule,
and they had the late like the Pac twelve after
dark slot last Saturday night and still got nine million.
Nine has never got you in that slot.
Speaker 3 (01:49:24):
They're fifth highest rated college football game, highest streamed ESPN
APP game ever and they didn't kick off until ten
to twenty one backies, and.
Speaker 8 (01:49:35):
They still at what one and two in the morning,
eight million viewers? Ridiculous, witty.
Speaker 2 (01:49:40):
I mean, that's like the Cowboys, right, That's like the
Cowboys are rady like. That's the type of number that
they pull when everybody's like, how came all these morning debates?
I was always talking about the Cowboys because they pulled
ten million people watching the game.
Speaker 8 (01:49:53):
That reminded me of Notre Dame and Lou Holtz era,
which they had Holts at the game tonight. It's been
a while since it's that kind of must ETV this
first month.
Speaker 2 (01:50:01):
Speaking of Notre Dame, right now, Kyle McCord just converted
a fourth and seven to stay alive.
Speaker 1 (01:50:06):
They're on their own thirty two I'm sorry.
Speaker 2 (01:50:07):
On the Notre Dame thirty two yard line, Marvin Harrison
Junior makes a catch to bring them down to the
thirteen yard line.
Speaker 1 (01:50:14):
Fourteen to ten, Notre Dame.
Speaker 2 (01:50:17):
With the lead thirty seconds left, thirty seconds left and
we were talking about this in the zone around him
like that. Let's see Kyle McCord drops back, throws it
into the end zone. Marvin Harrison Junior. That ball could
have been intercepted right there by. Notre Dame hate teams
that don't wear the names on the back of the jersey.
Income's supposed to know who he is.
Speaker 3 (01:50:33):
Complete then in Penn State, think that they're better than
everybody else.
Speaker 2 (01:50:38):
It completed attendant for Marvin Harrison. But it hit number
twenty for Notre Dame right in the hip. But we'll see,
I mean, Ohio State if they win this one, Ryan
Day needs to go home and just think as lucky stars,
go play the Lotto on the way home, because I mean,
what how many.
Speaker 1 (01:50:53):
Different goal to go one yard games fourth than one
yard blown?
Speaker 10 (01:50:57):
It?
Speaker 1 (01:50:58):
Did they just have? I mean running the jetsweep on
fourth and one on your own five. Imagine if they'd
gotten a field goal earlier.
Speaker 8 (01:51:03):
Thank you making a field goal to win right here.
Speaker 1 (01:51:05):
Thank you absolutely.
Speaker 2 (01:51:06):
As Kyle mccorr takes a oh that should have been
a sack, let's see if you get what they call
there in completely you had two guys draped over.
Speaker 1 (01:51:14):
Him somehow got the ball out.
Speaker 2 (01:51:15):
Wasn't intentional grounding, which is interesting because I didn't see
anybody in the general area of vicinity.
Speaker 3 (01:51:21):
They should talk about this. This would be intentional ground
and steve to that point. I look to Martin doing
the commercial break after they go for it and Notre
Dame gets the ball and they get some yards, get
some room, right, they end up with a great punt
and they punt them down in a fair catch.
Speaker 1 (01:51:35):
It to like the twenty eight. I go to Martin,
I going, now.
Speaker 3 (01:51:37):
See you could still have the ball, but you wouldn't
be at yourn twenty eight and you'd be up three
to zero right now instead of having the ball and
still tied at zero zero with three and some change
to go to the game.
Speaker 1 (01:51:48):
It's just it's mind bogglings.
Speaker 8 (01:51:50):
They were also stopped on a fourth and goal at
the Notre Dame one in the first half of this game.
Got no points out of that drive. Either converting the
recent fourth down stopped or the one in the first half,
either one would put them in a position to win
and not need a touchdown at Notre Dame right take
the three.
Speaker 2 (01:52:05):
It is just hard for Martin wise to imagine that's me.
Hard to imagine an Ohio State team that doesn't.
Speaker 3 (01:52:12):
Feel like they can just get a yard line up
and smash mount football like Big Ten. This is where
my psyche comes from. Up We of who we are, right,
We're from the Big Ten. We know your Notre Dame,
but damn it, this.
Speaker 1 (01:52:25):
Is what we do in the Big Ten. Watch Sunday
Night football. One of my favorite things to do.
Speaker 3 (01:52:29):
When they announced the players and they announce state college,
they say they're naming the sake.
Speaker 1 (01:52:32):
I love to hear all the offensive lineman. Every NFL
team has at least two or three guys in the
Big Ten.
Speaker 3 (01:52:37):
Wisconsin, Michigan, Penn State, Michigan, Illinois, Ohio, the the Ohio
State universe. And it's just like those in the Big Twelve.
You'll find the most offensive lineman from those two Power
five conferences.
Speaker 1 (01:52:50):
Run you can't get me a yard.
Speaker 8 (01:52:53):
Even Lebron James from Ohio tweeted after this last step
fourth and inches.
Speaker 1 (01:52:58):
Inches the touch point. Martin not just said during break
I legal dow I do it until they outlawed it.
Speaker 8 (01:53:04):
Just like Jalen Hurd steal it all day.
Speaker 1 (01:53:06):
Steve, you think he care you think he cared that.
People talking about you think he cared to be Oh, Philly,
damn it. It's in the rules. I'm allowed to do it.
Here we go. Can't pull the runner. You can push him.
Speaker 3 (01:53:16):
No, you can push it, but stop me. Then line
up her guys against my guys to stop me.
Speaker 8 (01:53:20):
One good thing about this last drive for Ohio State
is they're getting about twelve plays out of this drive
in literally a minute minute fifteen, so they're in position.
Unfortunately here with this intentional grounding it was called, that's
just pushed him back to a third and nineteen.
Speaker 3 (01:53:35):
Just try to get half of it right now. Don't
try to go to the en zone. But watch what
mc cor does. And you look for eighteen. You don't
look for anybody but eighteen or two. I think that's
who boo because number is number two. But you look
for eighteen no time exactly, with no timeouts complete, Yeah, number.
Speaker 1 (01:53:51):
Two on the one yard line right now.
Speaker 2 (01:53:53):
Clock is stopped because the college football stops it with
under but the ball spoty call him. The cord snaps
it and we got at least one more play and
this one first and goal seven seconds left. Hopefully we'll
have the conclusion of this. When we come back Martin
and VJ Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (01:54:09):
Cord gets the snap.
Speaker 3 (01:54:10):
Hans to Henderson on under all taking ite why to
the left of his zone, forty dances to his forty five,
loose to the fifty to the Notre Dame forty Henderson
to the thirty down and left sideline to the twenty.
Speaker 1 (01:54:18):
He's to the ten. He's to the end zone for
a touchdown.
Speaker 2 (01:54:21):
Traveon Henderson, Martin and VJ, coming to you, liar from
the Tireck dot com studios. That was the Progressive play
of the day, brought to you by Progressive Insurance. Progressive

by combining your motorcycle, RV, boat, ATV and more all

Shout out to Paul Keels from Learfield on that one.
(01:54:44):
As Ohio State scored a touchdown with one second remaining
extra point good seventeen to fourteen. As that he's forced
to kick off the Notre Dame, I imagine looking unless
we have a miracle in South Bend. No, that is,
hig State is gonna sneak out with the win. They
finally convert convert a short yardage situation.
Speaker 1 (01:55:06):
Yeah, you just turn and you run the ball.
Speaker 3 (01:55:08):
And you can see that on the unbalanced defensive line,
the offensive line from Ohio State just collapses and crushes
from the left side all the way down. The blitzing
linebacker outside linebacker for Notre Dame takes a bad angle.
Why because he think it's a passing play.
Speaker 1 (01:55:23):
What did I say? I would love to see two
plays ago a draw play.
Speaker 3 (01:55:26):
This would be a great They haven't been able to
run a lot, but damn, this would be a great
time from a draw play. And it's more of an
RPO shotgun handoff, which is an extension of the draw.
Why you have everybody shooting upfield, you should be able
to get you know, man or man with a guy
to goal line and you push him back and get
the ball over the goal line. They did it and
want to I hate both these teams, so I could
(01:55:48):
care less who won. I wish you could have ended
the time, but that's fine. Ohio can stay undefeated all
they want until they have to come to an arbor
and get that annual ass whoop.
Speaker 1 (01:55:56):
And they've been getting by twenty plus points.
Speaker 3 (01:55:58):
The last dulse That means two for my Spanish brother's
assistance out there Dust.
Speaker 2 (01:56:03):
Years Ryan Day survives yet another night again, one second
remaining here, come on her up kick the stands game
to move this game? Nothing squip kick notre dame lets
the ball go out of bounds, so we should Yeah,
we'll see the ball and Sam Harfman with one shot
(01:56:24):
to end this thing.
Speaker 1 (01:56:25):
Yeah, you know what. In the meantime, I promise you
I'm not gonna let you, guys go.
Speaker 2 (01:56:29):
We got four minutes left in our show, and I
promise you if this game ends before four minutes, I
will let you know what happened.
Speaker 1 (01:56:35):
But right now, let's go to some NFL picks.
Speaker 11 (01:56:39):
All right, guys, So our week two totals, Martin, you
went three and two.
Speaker 1 (01:56:43):
VJ you got to win.
Speaker 11 (01:56:44):
Last week you went four and one, bringing your season
totals up to seven and three for Martin and six
and four for Veg.
Speaker 1 (01:56:51):
Okay, one bag, Okay, I like this. This is much
better than last year. Let's go.
Speaker 11 (01:56:56):
All right, let's kick it off with the Chargers at
the Vikings. Vikings are f one in this game.
Speaker 1 (01:57:02):
Give me the Minnesota Vikings that turnover.
Speaker 2 (01:57:05):
Look changes, Brandon Staley's bad defense doesn't Hey, we.
Speaker 1 (01:57:09):
Talked about this one already. Give me the Vicers. I
need my man Kirk to come back and have a
bounce back game. Give me the Vikes, all right?
Speaker 11 (01:57:15):
Moving on to our next game, we have the Bears
at the Chiefs. Huge spread in this game, the line
is minus twelve and a half. Who you guys get
in favor of the Chiefs. Who you guys got in
this one?
Speaker 2 (01:57:25):
There is absolutely no good news coming out of Chicago.
I would love to take the Bears plus twelve and
a half, but just being realistic, it's been so bad,
it's been so ugly, and who the hell is Kansas
City to be laying thirteen right now? I know that
the runner ups, I mean, I'm sorry, they're defending Super
Bowl champions, but still they haven't scored.
Speaker 1 (01:57:44):
But twenty one points in a game. Yet.
Speaker 2 (01:57:46):
Still, I'm gonna go ahead and lay the twelve and
a half against the Bears. The Bears are not an NFL.
Speaker 1 (01:57:51):
Team at the moment.
Speaker 3 (01:57:52):
I'm gonna try to make up a game here on
Martin and I'm gonna go with the Bears. To stick
with my underdoll pick. Give me them to cover it.
This twelve and a half, I just think Justin Fields
makes an play. Think the defense keeps the Chiefs defense
offense in check. I think Kelsey is distracting other things
right now, and Mahomes needs him to be focused and
he's not.
Speaker 1 (01:58:08):
And I think they win the game. But the Bears
are gonna.
Speaker 2 (01:58:10):
Cover that twelve and a have Notre Dame tried some
little pitchy pitchy woo woo, as Scott Van Pelt would
say at the end of the game.
Speaker 1 (01:58:17):
Didn't work. Ohio State sneaks out seventeen to fourteen.
Speaker 11 (01:58:21):
Ye grab the moving trucks. The Colts are heading to
Baltimore this week to take on the Ravens. The Ravens
are favored in this one by eight.
Speaker 2 (01:58:29):
Who you guys got I'm gonna take Baltimore. I mean
I'm taking Indianapolis here to cover the A. I think
Baltimore wins it. I love this as a teaser Lake,
especially if you're playing at six and a half. Give
me the Colts to cover.
Speaker 3 (01:58:40):
Gardner Minchew starting on the road because Anthony Richardson is
out with the concussion already in his career.
Speaker 1 (01:58:45):
This Ravens team starts to really.
Speaker 3 (01:58:47):
Look good to me, man and getting their mojo going
on offense, putting up plus twenty five points, the only
team to do it it in the league in their
first two games this year. I think they're gonna do
it again some more. I think they win this game.
They cover this one easy. Give me the Ravens with
that a point I saw earlier this week at minus
seven and a half, Guess has moved up to eight.
Speaker 1 (01:59:04):
Now, that's fine. I'll take the eight for them to cover,
all right.
Speaker 11 (01:59:08):
Moving forward, we have the Eagles traveling down to Tampa
Bay to take on the Buccaneers. Eagles are favored by
five in this game.
Speaker 1 (01:59:14):
You know what I'm gonna do. My I'm gonna do
this pick the way Ryan Day's doing his post game.
Speaker 2 (01:59:18):
I can't believe that Baker Mayfield is still a thing,
but he is, and I'm taking them to cover the
five against his Eagles team.
Speaker 3 (01:59:24):
I don't trust his Eagles offense just quite yet. I'm
with Martin on this one right here. I like Tampa
Bay's defense. Their defense has played very well this year.
They got a lot of Jimmies and Joe's on that
side of the ball and I'm still trying to figure
out what's going on between A J. Brown in the
passing attack, what type of running game we're gonna see.
Is gonna be swift or is gonna be gay? Well,
what's gonna happen there too? So I think the Eagles
(01:59:45):
will win this game, but I think it's gonna be
tight down the stretch. Give me the Buccaneers to cover
that four and a half.
Speaker 11 (01:59:50):
The last game in our Pickham and the second of
the Monday night doubleheader, the Bipolar Rams taking on these
struggling Bengals.
Speaker 2 (01:59:59):
Bengal are favored by two and a half. You know what,
I'm sick of these Monday night doubleheaders. Joe Burrow plays Bengals.
Cover what you got, man? Give me McVeigh my man,
the Hall of Famer.
Speaker 1 (02:00:10):
Many Matt Stafford is not a Hall of Famer. That's
Hall of Famer Manie.
Speaker 2 (02:00:15):
Jason Martin Aritore is up next. Mark Guy at Fox
Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (02:00:20):
We out
