It's the way that tire buying should be. And the
Houston Texans are on their way back home. They will
not be advancing to the AFC Championship game. The only
(00:27):
team in the AFC I believe to not have yet
advanced to the championship game. Only team in NFC did
not win consecutive playoff game so far. Well, we're not
happening this year either, as Kansas City goes ahead and
beats the Texans. But yet Texans do cover the nine
and a half that it closed at it just as
a quick.
Speaker 3 (00:45):
You're pointing your finger. Why are you doing that? When
do you get cold in the middle of the night.
What do you grab the cover?
Speaker 2 (00:53):
I love it, I cover. I picked them you had
I picked them to cover. Okay, so this is gonna
this is gonna be a little awkward here. Uh and
you do you want to do you want to step
in because this is awkward here.
Speaker 3 (01:05):
Why would it be all?
Speaker 4 (01:06):
The line was nine and a half? Yeah, and they
won by what nine?
Speaker 3 (01:10):
Exactly? Exactly? And no, the line I saw this morning
was at nine. So I texted you guys nine and
a half. I know that line was nine and a half.
The line he sent was nine and a half. The
end line was nine and a half.
Speaker 5 (01:22):
It was oh, that's whack because I pulled it up
on ESPN at that point and it was nine.
Speaker 3 (01:27):
It was not nine and a half. It was nine. Well, yeah,
I don't know a half. So when's last time you
saw it? Would you see the nine and a half?
Let's see, right before I texted you, it was at nine.
Scroll up, scroll up right there? You know, I see
today at nine forty seven am one benefit? I know,
I know he texted I know he texted me that.
But I looked at up. I went to ESPN dot
(01:47):
com and looked it up and it was at nine.
It's nine and a half.
Speaker 6 (01:50):
I'm sorry.
Speaker 3 (01:51):
The line was nine and a half.
Speaker 2 (01:52):
And the problem covers the spread, and I just the
only reason I've been brought that up is because there's
gonna be a lot of people out here.
Speaker 3 (01:57):
Say it's a bad beat. It's not a bad beat.
Speaker 2 (02:00):
Kimie fair Bearing missed three different kicks of two field
goals at an extra point in a game in which
they covered by the hook.
Speaker 3 (02:06):
No, that's not a bad beat.
Speaker 2 (02:07):
But let's talk about the rest of that game and
everything else they played into it, because the Houston Texans
got kind of screwed by the refs.
Speaker 3 (02:15):
Patrick Mahols was incredible.
Speaker 2 (02:16):
We're gonna talk about that game in about fifteen minutes
because we have one game the NFC side of things
starting in about five minutes. The Commanders on the road
at the Detroit Lions line. Is the one seed in
the NFC, the best team in the NFC all year
right now. The Commanders obviously hot, Jaydon Daniels presumptive offensive
Rookie of the Year, rookie head not rookie head coach,
(02:39):
first year head coach in Washington, rookie quarterback Cliff Kingsbury
calling the shots there, Terry McLaurin, Jaydon Daniels running that offense,
and Marshaun Lattimore Bobby Wagner on the defensive side of
things for the Commanders.
Speaker 3 (02:53):
VJ, what's your take.
Speaker 5 (02:55):
Here, I don't know, man, I don't know this game.
This game, it can go one of two ways. First
of all, I want to just clear, just real fast.
I definitely wasn't trying to say it back. I really
did see it at nine. But you guys know, you
don't have no reason why I wouldn't lie you. You know
how much much I care about my pick. But congrats
Martin got that one. All right, But now to the
game tonight, to the game going on right now. Man,
this one this could go. This game really really can
(03:16):
go either way. I'm still just so concerned about Detroit's
defense and the only example people have to show me
once this became a big talking point on TV and
radio is really honestly, you know, the Vikings game and
Sam Darnold and a few other bad, you know offenses
to say, no, look they got guys, they brought guys in.
Look what they've done. Jayden Daniels's this is a different guy.
(03:38):
This is a different quarterback, and they have weapons they
can use. I love Robinson the running back at Obama.
And you know their defense is going to show up today.
Now Detroit has everything laid out for them. They're the
number one seed, that the best record of the NFC
home field advantage, the crowd, Dan Campbell blue collar, like,
this team is truly set up to do something special
(03:59):
this year. We've been saying it since August. The defense
is just still a concern for me. But if you
could score thirty four, thirty five points, okay, fine, Detroit's
going to the Super Bowl because I don't think any
of the offense can keep up with that but them.
But this defense that they're bringing and they get through
this game, they got a great shot to get tell
you if the Eagles when they would have the number
one defense but then face then but uh, this note
(04:21):
in eight and a half, I definitely don't like. So
I'll definitely take the Commanders to cover. But I think
Detroit can make enough plays at home with the momentum,
uh to pull it off. But Jayden Daniels sneaky plays
third and long scrambles third and you know, short moves,
dump the ball off guys open and Terry mcclarin, how's
he gonna perform against a secondary in the defense that's
(04:42):
been beat up. That's another big part of this game
for me too. So give me the Commanders to cover.
But I do think the lines make enough plays in
the end uh to pull out a win. But I
think it's a close game throughout too. I too think
it's a close game. I'm taking the Commanders to cover
as well.
Speaker 3 (04:56):
I said that backwards.
Speaker 2 (04:57):
I think if the Commanders is gonna cover, I think
it will be kind of similar to the fourth quarter
what we saw in the AFC Divisional first game here
with the Texans and the Chiefs. I think we'll see
Detroit with a two score lead for most of the game.
Then we'll see Washington make a fourth like, make a
fourth quarter rally that ends up coming one score game.
Speaker 5 (05:19):
Then if you're a basically two touchdowns most of the game,
you just can't you just can't put them away back.
Speaker 3 (05:25):
Okay, yeah, all right, No, no, I know.
Speaker 5 (05:28):
I think the Commanders at some point either have this
game within a pointer or two a field goal, or
maybe have the lead at some point. Jayden Daniels is
that talented. He can make the plays, and he's got
a guy. You guys always hear me speak about a
w R one. That's a guy he's got one, and
he's proven he's got one. And that guy's proven that
he is one going to get to beat up defense
(05:50):
and a beat up you know, a kind of makeshift
mcgarra secondary in a playoff game where no one's giving
you a shot, right, Vegas has this thing over a
touchdown almost give you a shot to win this game.
You've already got your one playoff win with your rookie
quarterback and your new head coach and everything you named
about the Commanders, right, you already got all that done
and you got the one.
Speaker 3 (06:07):
No one if they lose the night, no one's gonna go.
Speaker 5 (06:09):
Oh man, what a bad year for the Commanders. There's nothing,
but there's nothing on the table Martin Martin's favorite betting term. Guys,
mark it down. They're playing with house money. God, he
loves it. Put it on the T shirt and sentence
to him type of things that end's career is playing
with house money.
Speaker 3 (06:27):
Because though, seriously, though, like, let's just break that down,
because you know I did. I did.
Speaker 5 (06:32):
They don't know what that means? Oh did you are you?
Speaker 3 (06:36):
Are you cold?
Speaker 2 (06:36):
Did both? I was? I was playing, was doing my
Travis Hunter repression. I feel you, But she said that,
you know, the Commanders are playing with house money, and
I didn't have.
Speaker 3 (06:44):
The heart to go through my whole rant. But I
do now you all right, because here's the deed you
mean to tell me?
Speaker 2 (06:50):
That is the Washington Commanders lose today everybody.
Speaker 3 (06:53):
Look, don't get me wrong.
Speaker 2 (06:54):
Should they be disappointing, No, no, no, no no, this is
a step in the right direction. But the idea, oh
this is okay, this is okay because we weren't supposed
to be here anywhere.
Speaker 3 (07:04):
We'll be back next year. No, no, no, no no.
Speaker 5 (07:06):
Like I think there's some people who think that when
I'm telling you they're wrong, Like, like, that's what Patty
Mahomes and them thought against Brady that first year. If
they had done that, you know what they would be
right now? The only thing we're talking about.
Speaker 3 (07:18):
We talk about Patrick Mahomes is the greatest quarterback of
all time.
Speaker 5 (07:21):
If it hadn't been for that they won that first
Super Bowl, that's what conversation would be.
Speaker 2 (07:25):
It would be how far much better is he gonna
be than Tom Not? You know what I'm saying, because
right now he hasn't crossed that threshold.
Speaker 3 (07:32):
No no, no, no, no, it's not.
Speaker 2 (07:34):
But it's great, but no, but it's just it drives
me insane because if you tell me rookie quarterback Washington
first year in Washington, DC, the Washington Commanders that have had,
I mean, off the top of my head, I remember
one one playoff moment from the Washington Commanders in the
last ten years.
Speaker 5 (07:57):
Wow, you got ten years. I'm thinking back to I'm
thinking back to RG three. That would be fifteen Okay,
so RG three's so big and fifteen two.
Speaker 2 (08:03):
Then I remember RG three hurting his knee gay and
I remember Taylor Heineke right before the half.
Speaker 5 (08:09):
Oh, going out of bounds against the Buccaneers. Tom Brady's
year he won the Super Bowl.
Speaker 2 (08:14):
He don't got the bounds trying to score touchdoun out like,
oh this is where this is.
Speaker 3 (08:17):
Now they're gonna lose.
Speaker 2 (08:18):
Yeah, I was like, was Washington under Ron Rivera had
a little bit of moment?
Speaker 3 (08:22):
That's it. That's the entire list.
Speaker 2 (08:24):
If you had, if you are taking your driver's license
tests in the next couple of weeks, that's all you
remember for Commanders football in the postseason. They got last
week though man Jaden makes the scrabble on the RPO,
pulls a bootlegs, shakes dots first down okay, so true,
pumps the dead. That was talking about the okay, prior
to this rule, but they've been a bad franchise, That's
what I'm saying.
Speaker 5 (08:43):
So I think this year you can't listen. I'll do
it fine, I'll be one. They get blown out by
thirty to night. Okay, Detroit, real talk, This is probably
what you should have done off of by resting guys
home field advantage, trying to win and go super Bowl.
This isn't last year. This is super Bowl or bust
for the lines now, which is weird to say. And
I'm forty seven years old and we've never.
Speaker 3 (09:04):
Heard that, but we're hearing it now.
Speaker 5 (09:06):
If Washington gets blown off this field, let her know,
make this thing a damn game. And it takes golf late,
or it takes even Daniels to throwing interception ly and
and then it's like, okay, it's a rookie moment, bro,
he'll learn from it.
Speaker 3 (09:18):
Yeah, you can go listen.
Speaker 5 (09:19):
Man twelve and five when they were picked to win,
sit what was the over under coming out of win
like six and a half.
Speaker 3 (09:25):
They doubled it. That's I think you can away saying I.
Speaker 2 (09:28):
Have far exceeded expectations, right, But I just do. I
will never subscribe to the idea that losing when you
have a chance to win the championship. I will never
come over like losing is okay. There's no such thing
as a moral loss in the playoffs in my opinion,
that's there's something that you cannot maybe you can grow from,
you can build from, and so on and so forth.
But that's what when people say, oh, they're playing with
(09:50):
house money, they mean like, oh, they can lose this
game and it won't matter.
Speaker 3 (09:54):
I know you don't like it, but I don't even
know what that.
Speaker 2 (09:57):
That's what it means to me that they can lose
the game and lit matter, Like they can lose the game,
but it's okay because they're not supposed to be here.
Well guess what.
Speaker 5 (10:05):
Here's the thing was, No, there's been all types of
champions who weren't supposed to be there.
Speaker 3 (10:10):
Okay, Like there's.
Speaker 5 (10:12):
Been all types of things like no, no, no, go ahead,
go win it because you know.
Speaker 3 (10:15):
What, it counts the same.
Speaker 5 (10:17):
It counts the same your trophy, whether you was supposed
to be there or not, whether you played Nick Foles
and on the way to the super Bowl.
Speaker 3 (10:25):
You know what I'm saying, I'm nick Foles. He actually
beat them.
Speaker 5 (10:27):
But you know what I'm saying, whether you played all
backups on the way, or you know, you got lucky
and the wrong team won and all of a sudden
you end up playing the Giants in the divisional round
because the fourteen and three Vikings lost in the wild card.
Speaker 3 (10:40):
No, no, no, you know what, it still counts.
Speaker 2 (10:42):
It still counts, And we have developments in the Commanders
game because am Gonzales right, you remember the last time
we saw the.
Speaker 5 (10:49):
Man was playing with his hair quite a bit. Kicked
the field goal, hit the upright.
Speaker 3 (10:54):
That was the largest point. That was the loudest doinke
I've ever heard in the game. It was up there.
Speaker 2 (10:58):
I mean zach Ertz was talking about it. He's like,
I had this one doinked in and was also on
the field for the double doingk Philly Chicago a few
years back. So the rim has been comftable to a
dank god. But Zags just kicked the ball out of bounds.
We later talked about how his OCD impacts him and
(11:18):
that's so he got some of these things that he
uses to ground himself, like taking his shoe off for
playing with his hair, and that was kind of what
he did. It was an interesting look online if you
were familiar with that story, which if you're not a
Commander's fan, I don't know why.
Speaker 3 (11:30):
You would be.
Speaker 5 (11:31):
But right now we've achieved liftoffs. Yeah go here, So
let's do this. Let's do this, man, let's play around
with exactly this defense. That's what I want to talk about.
Does this Washington defense? And you guys know about dan Quinn.
The thing is, when you see a great defense, the
first thing we always do. You're a big coordinator guy.
I'm a big coordinator guy. You go to the coordinator
who's coordinating his defense. He's the head coach of coordinating
his defense. Has he ever had a defense that wasn't great? No,
(11:54):
Once he gets his hand on you, it's like Sean Payton, man,
I give him credit. Sean Payne gets his hand on you,
he needs a year, give.
Speaker 3 (11:59):
Him a year.
Speaker 5 (12:00):
He got he gotta get the garbage out. He doesn't
want get the guys in. He once get his quarterback
boom off and running playoffs. This, dan Quinn is the
same thing. Let me get rid of the high priced
defensive of guys that that think it's all about them
and uh, you know yeah, get my guys in here,
get my system and then gone and this defense just now,
just to give a quick update, first series three and
(12:20):
out de Troy's got a punt. This I'm telling you
this game is going to be close. This is going
to be a close game, and it's gonna come down
to the last possession. Whoever makes the last mistake or
scores last is gonna win this football game. Well, we
saw in the AFC Championship game defense traps an AFC
Divisional round game. I should say, as the Chiefs advanced
to the championship game, we saw that was a close game.
(12:40):
That was a close game, low scoring, lots of punts,
lots of hits. They were out here hitting. I'm sorry,
you said Chiefs Texas today, right, yeah, the Chiefs advanced
to the championship game. I'm honestly, I'm not batting my
best right now. I'm miss speaking all over the place.
Has been all right, you know, it just been a
long a couple of weeks here in La Bro.
Speaker 2 (12:57):
Just like the Lions did not come out on their
first drive of the game, not established the run. Don't worry,
I too will establish the run myself in just the moment,
all right. Talking about that AFC Divisional Round game between
the Chiefs and the Texans, we saw a lot of defense,
a lot of hitting. Demiko Ryans, we got it, write
Mary Okay, Demiko Ryans.
Speaker 5 (13:18):
After the game. This is a preview. We're gonna break
this down in a minute. This is what he had
to say postgame. How did you feel about some of
the questionable conversial Kennty story.
Speaker 1 (13:29):
We knew going into this game.
Speaker 3 (13:31):
Man, it was us versus everybody.
Speaker 5 (13:33):
Right when I say everybody is everybody, all of whatever,
everybody the naysayer is a doubt right.
Speaker 3 (13:41):
Everybody everybody. He's not talking about the eleven players. After
the comeback.
Speaker 2 (13:48):
I will dive into that. Got a head coach, Tamiko Ryans.
Thank you to the postgame press conference there for that.
Will dive into that and everything else on the AFC
side of things coming up just a minute, of course,
given an is on the lines of Commanders scoreless, thirteen
thirty left in the first quarter.

(14:42):
the Commanders fail on fourth and one in their own
and deep in their own tam, I'm sorry in Lion.
Speaker 5 (14:49):
Territory that were they in field goal range there they
might Yeah, so they had Marcus Mariota in the game.
It looked like it would have been about a forty nine.
Speaker 3 (15:01):
To fifty something yard field goal.
Speaker 2 (15:03):
As they tried they attempt to step from the twenty
eight yard line, Mariota stuffed on like it looks like
a odd push push thing. But again, when you're calling
your backup quarterback in the game, not the best. Thank

We'll get to your some of your tweets throughout the show. VJ.
Speaker 5 (15:29):
You are you waited patiently through that read to go
ahead and unload on the idea of the Commanders using
their backup quarterback because that really.
Speaker 3 (15:37):
Pisses me off. Why the hell would you do that.
Speaker 5 (15:40):
I'm sitting and I don't mind you going for it,
but you don't bring in your backup. Course I said
the same thing with the Steelers last week about justin fields.
Speaker 3 (15:48):
What are you doing?
Speaker 5 (15:49):
You have a chance to do something special and win
a big time game. You gotta stud at quarterback at
that Marcus Mariota, like, honestly, why you even.
Speaker 3 (15:58):
Still in the league. Let her know.
Speaker 5 (16:00):
Don't get on the field and everybody knows that play. Now, God,
that's not a trick play anymore. The the guy that's
going in motion gets behind the center and they do
it in college. We did it at Birmingham High School.
We saw Cleveland High School do it. Saint Bonavcher Christian Academy.
It's not a trick play anymore. And if you're gonna
do that, do it with a big ass tight end
(16:21):
or big running back. You don't do it with Marcus Mariota.
Are you kidding me?
Speaker 3 (16:25):
My son? Cameron is his size, he's five. Like, stop it.
That was the stupidest play call.
Speaker 5 (16:31):
By one of your favorite football coaches. I'm just messing
with you, but.
Speaker 7 (16:35):
I like Cliffs, but as the next guy, Oh god,
that's just a stupid that's dumb.
Speaker 3 (16:46):
That was just dumb.
Speaker 5 (16:47):
And if they lose on one possession, I'm gonna point
right there. You go right there early in that game,
the stupid fourth I don't mind you going for it,
but it's.
Speaker 3 (16:54):
Funny to play golf.
Speaker 2 (16:55):
The last time the Commanders were out on the field,
we saw them go for it on fourth down. A ton, yeah,
a bunch, And it felt like somebody in the group
that I said it, It felt like Dan Quinn was doing
his best Dan Campbell in pressure talk. That was very
Dan Campbell esque. But the thing is the difference between
the lines.
Speaker 5 (17:12):
When they go for it on fourth down, they may
have run a trick play that else might run right
through your face.
Speaker 3 (17:16):
Yeah, who's the backup in Detroit? I don't I don't
even know.
Speaker 5 (17:20):
Heay, No, okay, Hooker, there you go your guy Tennessee.
Speaker 3 (17:25):
No, I didn't, Okay, no, I didn't know. You remind you, guys,
though they signed Teddy Bridge. I know, I don't know.
Speaker 8 (17:30):
I don't know.
Speaker 7 (17:31):
I don't know who actually retired to go coach high
school high school champion.
Speaker 5 (17:35):
A state championship, East Miami, right, yeah, East or East Miami.
But that's just that would be like any team bringing
in their backup quarterback sending them in motion.
Speaker 3 (17:44):
To do the fake touch push. It's a stupid call
no matter what team it is.
Speaker 5 (17:48):
So Steve Teddy is the one that's active today. So
Hooker is the third ques.
Speaker 3 (17:52):
Okay, So imagine if it Techny Bridge won Bridgewater. He
was coaching high school football, is he? So let's go.
Let's go back to the Chiefs game real quick.
Speaker 2 (18:02):
Yeah, a terrible call on that unnecessary roughness because generally,
in order for their debut roughness, you'd like to see
contact made on the play. Yeah, you know, I would
like to see that. We had Demiko Ryans. He said
that basically he knew when we went out there. It
was gonna be us versus everybody.
Speaker 8 (18:22):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (18:22):
Here's the thing, though, Demiko, I have a ton of
respect for him as a head coach. I think he's
a great head coach, especially when you look at some
of the deficiencies that this Texans roster had this year,
especially around the offensive line, offense getting figured out a
little bit. The defense was stout, and that defense kept
them in a ton of games, right, even game I.
Speaker 3 (18:41):
Mean, they think about it.
Speaker 5 (18:42):
They lost the game in which they had five interceptions, Right,
that's your defense was there, But in a game in
which your special teams.
Speaker 1 (18:50):
Is that bad.
Speaker 3 (18:51):
I don't want to hear about the refs. I don't
want to hear about them.
Speaker 2 (18:54):
That's not fair. I don't want to hear that's not fair.
You missed two field goals in an extra point. You
came out fifteen yard drive to start this I can have.
Speaker 5 (19:00):
I mean, pounding them. That's cementing momentum. Donk you extra.
Speaker 3 (19:05):
I don't want to hear.
Speaker 5 (19:05):
His point now that the miss extra point is the
minute I said they're gonna lose this game.
Speaker 3 (19:09):
Me too.
Speaker 5 (19:10):
That's the minute said they said. That's the minute I
said they're gonna lose this game that moment. You can
see everybody they showed Nico shout out without Nico, I feel.
Speaker 3 (19:17):
Like I know him now. I feel like that's my dog.
You can see his face.
Speaker 5 (19:20):
They showed him on the sideline because he's walking off
the field and he sees the team's reaction.
Speaker 3 (19:25):
He turns and looks and like.
Speaker 5 (19:26):
Come on, man, like you can tell it just it
totally took them down. But I feel him though, and
he has every right to say this. And when Troy Aikman,
when Troy Aikman three top super Bowl win and Troy
Aikman Hall of Fame with Troy Aikman says they need
to revisit this. This is a former Hall of Fame
quarterback saying they got the competition. Comedie's gott to revisit this.
(19:47):
And you can't be a quarterback out here, you know,
playing around and then going down. And the finners have
already committed to me, there was one where the two
Texan players hit each other.
Speaker 3 (19:56):
They didn't touch Patrick Mahomes.
Speaker 5 (19:58):
The fact is they also need to go into reviewing
some of these penalties and and called us, hey, listen,
we have to pick that up because that's affecting the
game right now. He had every right to say what
he said. I agree completely with what he said. I
wish you'd win a little deeper because what's not gonna
happen to him? Find them all right, that's cool. The
owners will pay that tab because I'm sure the owners
are hurt getting on that plane and code ass Kansas
(20:19):
City going back till he was coding Houston right now too.
But it ain't that. It ain't supposed to be exactly right.
But no, I felt them on this. He should have
said it. We're all sitting there watching here's commentary. Coat.
Speaker 2 (20:33):
Is that saying that it was a good call, right,
I'm not saying that it was a good call by
any stretch. It's one of the worst calls we've seen
in this league. And it's embarrassing that it happened on
this type of statement.
Speaker 5 (20:44):
About the way and or somewhere real fast the early
one because I thought that was.
Speaker 3 (20:47):
The same I thought that I thought the same thing.
Speaker 5 (20:48):
More it's less agregious than than the mahomes going down. Yeah,
because there was crown a helmet to helmet. Don't love
it by letter of the law.
Speaker 3 (20:56):
I understand why you get called.
Speaker 5 (20:58):
But the one one would's done to say which two
Texas defenders hit each other in that?
Speaker 3 (21:03):
Okay, that's just not the case. As Jamiir Gibbs walks
into the end.
Speaker 5 (21:06):
Of Steve to segall and all that in about ten seconds,
as I've finished my point here. But when you play
that poorly, you give up eight sacks, you miss two
field goals, you miss an extra point. I don't want
to hear it was us versus the world today. You
beat yourself. You beat yourself. Now did it help? Did
(21:26):
it help that that was the one drive that Kansas
State has scored the touchdown.
Speaker 3 (21:29):
On, right right, right?
Speaker 5 (21:31):
But but but in a game in which you lose
by now if you lost about one So I'm like that,
I can hear you in a game in which you
take a knee as the losing team at the end. No, no, no,
you don't get the complaint. You don't get the complaint.
You know what, we won't complain because Steve the Sager
right here is the Maverick Baker in the world. Steve,
you're up best into that is it's up Steve.
Speaker 9 (21:51):
Hello, guys, it is seven to nothing in the divisional playoffs,
at Detroit. The Lions mid fourth quarter lead the Washington Commanders.
You know Washington with Dan Quinn. They do go for
it a lot on fourth down, not quite as much
as Detroit, but the percentage was a record this year,
eighty seven percent conversions on fourth down. So they go
(22:12):
for it on fourth and one at the Detroit twenty eight. Yes,
they were in field goal range, and my goodness, to
that play blow up for a loss of one. It's
like Mariota wanted to pitch it back to somebody in
the backfield.
Speaker 3 (22:23):
I never got rid of it. It looked like Brian.
Speaker 2 (22:26):
It's either Mariota got stopped at the line and tried
to turn around and pitch because Brian Robinson did not
know it was a fake.
Speaker 3 (22:32):
He's trying to push Mariota forward.
Speaker 9 (22:34):
Mariota went down as if somebody steps on your foot
and you just go straight down and can't do nothing.
Speaker 3 (22:40):
It was that kind of thing.
Speaker 9 (22:41):
So Detroit had gone three and out to open the game.
Washington on its first drive turnover on downs and quickly
about a three minute drive the other way, Lions score
a touchdown Jami or Gibbs one yard TD run that
was a sixth place seventy one yard drive the other way.
So mid first quarter, Lion's up seven nothings, the one
seed in the NFC fifteen and two. The record Washington
(23:04):
has won six in a row, twelve and five overall.
This game is on Fox TV. You know, the Washington
franchise hadn't won a playoff game since the two thousand
and five season until last Sunday night. Meanwhile, they're back
in the conference championship game. Talking about the AFCs Kansas
City Chiefs. They eliminated Houston twenty three to fourteen. Travis
(23:24):
Kelcey seven receptions, one hundred and seventeen yards and a touchdown.
You know how much other yardage Kansas City had ninety
five yards net from anybody else the rest of the day.
So this was a real rarity, the fact that the
Texans did not commit a turnover. They outgained their opponent
in a playoff game by at least one hundred yards
(23:47):
and still lost. That had never happened before in NFL
playoff history. Afterwards, coach Andy Reid was asked about winning
career game number three hundred, Yeah, three hundred victories for
Andy Reid.
Speaker 1 (24:00):
You know, you get a couple more you might build
to equal my weight.
Speaker 9 (24:04):
So he's nonplused.
Speaker 3 (24:08):
Shall we say about the mark.
Speaker 9 (24:10):
NFL Divisional playoffs Tomorrow Sunday three pm Eastern time. It's
Rams at Philadelphia snow in the forecast, and then Baltimore
at Buffalo six thirty Eastern tomorrow. Ravens wide receivers A
Flowers was listed as doubtful for that one with his
knee injury. He did not play last weekend. The temperature
in Buffalo due to be under twenty degrees for that
(24:30):
divisional round game. The Atlanta Falcons new defensive coordinator is
Jeff Olbrook, who was Jets' interim head coach. Texas Longhorns
coach Steve Sarkisian got an extension through twenty thirty one
in the NBA Today, Kevin Durant thirty six points for
the Suns and Devin Booker scored thirty five in a
close win at Detroit one twenty five one twenty one
(24:51):
College hoops Number one Auburn won seventy to sixty eight
at Georgia West Virginia upset number two Iowa State Vanderbilt
edge number six tennisse Se and Xavier won at number seven.
Marquettz back to you.
Speaker 5 (25:03):
Thanks Steve Martin and VJ. Coming to you a lot
from retire rack dot com.
Speaker 3 (25:06):
Ste those on the.
Speaker 5 (25:07):
Fox Football Saturday here watching the NFC Division Round game
one Lions Commanders.
Speaker 2 (25:14):
But one team not in the playoffs yet. In the news,
the Dallas Cowboys, and they're head coaching search. I know
they interviewed a few guys and Andrew Robert Sala, who's
replacement in New New York, just took the Atlanta defensive
coordinator job. Jeff Ulbrich Robert Solad also interviewing for the
forty nine ers defensive coordinator job. But Jerry made news
(25:37):
this week. Yeah, Jerry made news this week as he
reached out to one high profile guy.
Speaker 3 (25:43):
VJ. What's your thoughts.
Speaker 5 (25:44):
No, don't take it, Dion, real fast, no big cylimon
qui here, no big set up.
Speaker 3 (25:49):
Don't take that job Dallas.
Speaker 5 (25:51):
And we'll get it to this when we talk about
some of these other jobs. It's not the job anymore
that people think it is. It's almost like equates to
what the lake are the It's not the glamorous job
of the eighties, in the nineties, in the early two thousands.
It just isn't Jerry Jones. He just takes the air
out of the room when he walks in. The owner
(26:14):
is the GM. So you will never truly have any
type of real power there. He just won't. You're better
there where you are in college. There's other NFL jobs open.
There's six available right now. There was seven. So there's
six available jobs right now now. I don't think any
of them are good for Dion for coach prime, Stay
in Colorado another few years.
Speaker 3 (26:34):
You got some other studs. Come in. You're hitting the portal.
Speaker 5 (26:37):
Got another top quarterback come in, see if we can
build off of this nine one season this year, get
maybe eleven twelve next year, get to a college playoff,
then venture into maybe the NFL. Kind of like get
Jackson State. Right he is at Jackson State for four years.
People really thought Dion was gonna jump after year two,
and he's like, no, I got something going. I want
to bear got three four years in Okay, won to
swat won the championship with you twelve and one. I
(26:59):
think it was that here y eleven to one. All right,
now I leave. You don't go somewhere if you know
two years, get the nine oness and then bounce. I
just think the Dallas job is just not the job
for him. It's a great talking point. People want to
mention it because of his connections with Dallas, but Jerry
Jones is not gonna give up the GM spot there.
This is not do not go and Dion himself. Now
this is the last quick point. I'm gonna hold you
(27:20):
to your word because he set himself he would not
go pro because it's it's you can't really control, you know,
twenty five year old millionaire. So this is just a
bad idea in my opinion. It's a good talking little story,
but nah, man, Deon needs to just stay in Colorado.
Speaker 3 (27:34):
I'm gonna take it a step further.
Speaker 2 (27:35):
First of all, Dion would be stupid to do this
like this is yeah, like let's be real. Let's be real, Deon. Now,
I'm this is not a knock. It may sound like
a knock, but it's not true. But if Dion has
the same level of success that he had in Dallas,
I'm sorry that he had in Colorado over the last
two seasons, that like in Dallas.
Speaker 3 (27:55):
He'd be fired. Yeah, but he'd be fire. Yeah.
Speaker 5 (27:59):
Just thirteen and twelve over two years, one game over
five hundred no, no, no, if not fired, the a
block of Everybody's show with Micah Dak and CDs as
like your three right, and like your three conversation would
be uh is coach prime? Going out of style or whatever?
Speaker 8 (28:16):
You know?
Speaker 2 (28:17):
All types of not prime on the little corner and
the mug would be what we see here. But here's
the thing. Okay, so Dion will be done to take
this job. But also if okay, it's reporting Dion's buyout
of ten million dollars, there's a college coach right now
and with another buyout of ten million dollars who's actually
(28:38):
had NFL head coaching success, right, Bill Belichick, if.
Speaker 3 (28:41):
You're gonna buy anybody out, probably buying out Billy.
Speaker 5 (28:44):
Be Do you think they'll do it? And do you
think Bill and leave Carolina?
Speaker 3 (28:48):
So, okay, here's the deal. Do I think Bill will
leave Carolina? At this point?
Speaker 5 (28:51):
I don't think he's really dug in, But I don't
think it matters because Jerry's not gonna do it. Jerry's
not gonna do Jerry is not gonna spend the money.
Speaker 3 (29:01):
Think about it. Every shod to fire McCarthy. We're gonna
get Well, here's the thing, McCarthy. But VJ. He didn't
fire McCarthy. He didn't fire McCarthy.
Speaker 5 (29:11):
And it's very important to pay attention to the way
it all happens now the fact, though the same impact
was of firing Mike McCarthy, there was essentially the same.
Speaker 3 (29:20):
The wording was firing.
Speaker 5 (29:22):
But the key is Mike didn't get fired. Mike's contract
was not renewed. No coaching very name me another coach
on the last year of his deal. They don't exist
because they either get fired before the end of their
deal or they get extended before the end of their deal.
That's the way it works. But Jerry said, because you
(29:43):
know what the Vegas Raiders are doing. They're paying Grooden,
they're paying McDaniels, they're playing Antonio Piers.
Speaker 3 (29:51):
And they're gonna have to pay the next guy.
Speaker 5 (29:52):
Jerry said, you will not catch me paying four guys
to throw three guys to not work for me. Okay,
he's not buying anybody, he's keeping himself in the news.
Speaker 3 (30:03):
That's it.
Speaker 5 (30:04):
That's the same way that Jerry was all in at
the end right after the Super Bowl, and then we
watched nothing happen all season, I mean all off season.
Speaker 3 (30:17):
Here's the thing we've seen reported by both sides. There's
interest for Jerry to Dion, like Jerry and Dion have
interest or whatever. You know what I'm saying, Like Jerry's
very interested. Dion said he's intrigued. They're just basically saying that, hey,
you know, maybe they can come to terms on years
and money.
Speaker 5 (30:33):
This might be a real thing. If this doesn't happen.
If this doesn't happen, what's full disclosure. I do not
think it will.
Speaker 3 (30:40):
As a media, Can we stop it? Can we just.
Speaker 5 (30:44):
Stop taking because Jerry Jones said the sun's gonna rise
in the West today. Can we stop pretending like it's
news because Jerry Jones says the moon is made of cheese?
We do not need to commission a study. Okay, it's
just not happening. He's not telling the truth. And you
know what, in a world in which there's very little
punishment or recourse for just floating something like this, right,
(31:07):
what's the impact?
Speaker 3 (31:08):
There is none?
Speaker 5 (31:09):
Right there, there's really no impact unless maybe you're like, oh,
the impact on.
Speaker 3 (31:13):
Recruit to Colorado.
Speaker 5 (31:15):
But this is relatively harmless, but it gets you in
the news in a time in which nobody's nobody tells
talking about the Aris.
Speaker 3 (31:21):
Are the Cardinals, you know why? Because they stunk this
year too.
Speaker 5 (31:26):
Nobody talking about Carolina Jackson jack and Jacksonville's got a
fifty five million dollar quarterback.
Speaker 3 (31:33):
Who's supposed to be like John Elway, but instead we're Lincoln.
I've wasted a lot of air of my out of
my body. I'll never get it back. About the Dallas
Cowboys on NFL Divisional Round.
Speaker 5 (31:44):
I'm watching the two best team or what the two
best teams and one in the AFC, one in the
NFC play and I'm talking about Jerry Jones and Dion Sanders,
neither of one of which have coached a game in
a month or had a game in a month. Dion's
still in the new They got a new TV show,
The Coach prown like like this guy, Like he said,
I always been him, I always and he's right, He's
(32:05):
always been that. He's always been that guy. And this
is just news that just throw out there. He'd be
crazy to do it. He's not gonna do it. It
keeps his name in the press. He likes his name
in the press. He likes his name being thrown around
in these things because it only just brings in. Listen,
the man made a song and performing on side of
that live call. It must be the money. He was
telling you what it was, then he's telling you what
(32:25):
it is now. The man ain't never told.
Speaker 3 (32:26):
Us a lot.
Speaker 5 (32:27):
He has always been straight up and on this. Whether
you like it or not, this is what it is.
He doesn't take this job, He's gonna stay in Colorado. Listen,
I got Dion's next job. I got coach Prohm's next job.
It's right here in Los Angeles. On figure Rower. That's
his next job. Get rid of this guy. After this season,
and then after Deontae's Colorado to the College Football Playoff
(32:48):
his value thing goes up. Then make that call, set
him right here in Los Angeles and put him on
and put him on. It was the Crimson and Gold
or Red and Gold, you know red in College Cat
Cardinal all these for Red's they call it. But that's
in my opinion, that Yescrlett that's his next job.
Speaker 3 (33:06):
I don't think he's going to the NFL.
Speaker 5 (33:08):
Now real Fast Raiders only team, but they would have
to figure out a way to get the number one
to get his son. He's not gonna go coach somewhere
and his son goes somewhere else. That's not happening. That's
not happening at all. Just all of this is a
pipe dream. Yeah, and we can just this is not
gonna stop. It's not gonna stop. That's what you want.
Speaker 2 (33:26):
But this is the July story when there's nothing else happening,
and we're watching the Cardinals play the Mets in the
bottom of the eighth in that game.
Speaker 3 (33:34):
That's a good game, but that's five to four. But
that's what the story is for.
Speaker 5 (33:38):
So just America, let's all take a step back and
maybe just maybe Jerry Jones wife, he's selling you a dream,
that's what he's been doing.
Speaker 3 (33:45):
Who did they hire? No Mark like there? Who are
you gonna hire? Why would you not Redo McCarthy, hord?
Who are you gonna go get? I know exactly who
they're gonna hire.
Speaker 2 (33:52):
And it's gonna be the favorite now and I'll tell
you in just the moment coming up in just a
second and tell you that. And also there's an FC
team with a major decision to make that will have
impact on literally the rest of the league. What is
it and what decisions should they how should they handle it?
With to that in just a moment, Martin Whit's Vida
Husky Fox Sports Football Saturday.
Speaker 1 (34:16):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio Husie.
Speaker 5 (34:20):
Coming to you lot from the Tireck dot Com studios.
Speaker 3 (34:23):
Jared cough.
Speaker 5 (34:26):
Watch the commanders to cover the ball. It is now
on their own. I'm sorry, in the the eighteen yard line.
Speaker 3 (34:33):
Those see, if they're able.
Speaker 5 (34:34):
To drive down the field, it's gonna be a football game, Branks,
a first down run, it's gonna be a good football
deep in their own territory they're driving.
Speaker 3 (34:42):
I'm hoping it's good football football earlier today too.
Speaker 5 (34:45):
Listen, that game, dude, is thirteen twice. It should be
It should have been thirteen thirteen. They're right there, They're
right there, should.
Speaker 3 (34:53):
Have been thirteen sixteen.
Speaker 5 (34:53):
Been fair, mister field man, thirteen seventeen extra point field goal.
Speaker 3 (34:58):
Just make the kicks. One job, that's all.
Speaker 5 (35:02):
I'm not one foot not that they got two. They
only use one to kick it though. Listen, I don't
I don't be smirched your opinion of you know, you
lost the game, you gave the game away.
Speaker 3 (35:13):
I just still believe that the coach.
Speaker 5 (35:16):
Should stand up to the media and and and and
everybody that knows it in season and goes, yeah, we
knew you come in here.
Speaker 3 (35:23):
You know it's us against everybody.
Speaker 5 (35:25):
It's I didn't I didn't mind that, But I'm not
disagreeing with the kicks. You gotta make kicks. I guess
you would have been like, and again we're nit picking
one answer. You may have said this and other answers.
I've been on the radio since the press conference happened.
I haven't read the whole transcript to listen to it,
which I actually listened to a lot of press conferences.
Speaker 3 (35:41):
So do why weirdly though, too, why do we do that? Mari?
I want to hear the coach, you and I, You
and I.
Speaker 1 (35:46):
Martin.
Speaker 5 (35:46):
Martin's got me reading the CBA. Martin said one day,
you should read the CBA, and I'm like, you know what.
I never thought to read this, the collect the bargaining agreement.
But it does help you understand these contracts and years
out and years in and this and a lot of jargon.
Speaker 3 (36:00):
But yeah, I came with you. I watch a lot
of press conferences. I have it right here. I had
the CBA up. Hey, yo, we're running in sixty two pages.
Let me tell ya something.
Speaker 5 (36:14):
Martin Wiss is the most studious sports talk radio e
mad my damn life like real talk some got you know,
former jobs or guys that just you know journalist.
Speaker 3 (36:24):
And this this is a studious.
Speaker 5 (36:26):
Dude right here, man, right, And it's grace because I
know I see it.
Speaker 3 (36:30):
Literally I have open.
Speaker 5 (36:32):
On the window. But it does give you a lot
of knowledge, man, And it makes you sharper on radio,
and you start talking a lot of these topics and
things that we you know, whats we schoola dot.
Speaker 3 (36:39):
We don't do that snorkelss stuff. Anybody can snorkle. That's
the thing. This is scooba doctor.
Speaker 2 (36:43):
And when I said to you, it's truth the CBA,
it's the terms of engagement.
Speaker 3 (36:47):
It is it is talking is the rules?
Speaker 5 (36:50):
Ye Like when you literally, like we talked about always
a bad call, it's like.
Speaker 3 (36:54):
Well, you know what, Moninson was a bad call?
Speaker 5 (36:55):
The Saints deferring every single contract they signed from twenty
seventeen to now because their dead cap money is out right.
Speaker 3 (37:02):
And I read that in said day.
Speaker 5 (37:03):
When I was looking at at the available with jobs,
and I'm like Wow. The Saints are in trouble because
they did basically that the proverbial just keep kicking the
can down the road, but eventually it hits a cart.
Speaker 3 (37:13):
You see how like you see how big the can get?
Speaker 2 (37:16):
Yeah, they we say kicking the can down the road,
it should is more analogous to a snowball rolling down
the mountain, because the snowball, as it rolls down the
mountain picks up more and more snow.
Speaker 3 (37:27):
The can you kick it down the road, it gets smaller,
it turts you.
Speaker 5 (37:31):
It's a snowball rolling down because eventually gets to be Man,
they have a lot of questions about contracts this upcoming season. Man,
they're gonna have to move on from some guys and
clear up some money.
Speaker 2 (37:43):
Speaking of contracts, with this up cooming seen, Sam Darnold
hot toyall.
Speaker 3 (37:48):
No jaw, he's not getting paid.
Speaker 2 (37:50):
Played eighteen games this year, had sixteen for US, say,
fifteen really good ones, one bad one against the Jags,
and then two stinkers to end the year. I think, honestly,
if you're the Minnesota Vikings again, you had a chance
to win the Super Bowl this year.
Speaker 3 (38:08):
You didn't do it, So you can't.
Speaker 2 (38:09):
Feel that good, But going forward into the next year,
this might be the best possible outcome for your quarterbacking
long term. Now you can keep Sam on a franchise
TT but have a real competition in the preseason.
Speaker 3 (38:25):
JJ, hey, JJ, go get me this. Moore, baby, go
get this more for me.
Speaker 5 (38:30):
I'm gonna have two young quarterbacks like well three actually four. Sorry,
I just love in the NFL man because McCarthy. I
still I still feel McCarthy's gonna be very very good NFL.
I'm not great, but I think he's gonna be a
very good if Sam Darnold was playing in this round
and all of it now becomes a lot harder, of
course for a guy who's never taken an NFL of course, right.
Speaker 3 (38:51):
Now, but if you can keep.
Speaker 2 (38:53):
Sam on a you know, a relatively team friendly deal,
right while JJ seems to be still like, we don't
know if he's gonna be all the way ready first
game game one, but you know what you might be
able to do.
Speaker 3 (39:06):
I got ready for training camp.
Speaker 2 (39:07):
If a early if I mean, if a starter goes down,
like let's say, for example, I'm not trying to wish
her injury, but like C. J.
Speaker 3 (39:14):
Stroud gets hurt week three. Next year, make a trade
for Sam.
Speaker 5 (39:18):
Donald, get a better way because he does have to
concusson okay, fair enough, and especially Miami because Mike McDaniels
in a referendum year.
Speaker 3 (39:28):
That's actually a really good way.
Speaker 5 (39:29):
And he comes from the same uh you know, the
same next year as a big ye or if he
comes from Shanahan big year, Kevin O'Connell tree, Yeah, that
would be that. You're absolutely right, Tua gets hurt for
some reason week two or three, Like you guys want
to put those backups back out that week. Guess what, Minnesota,
you're getting two Miami first round picks, maybe for Sam
Donald and oh god, I'll.
Speaker 3 (39:51):
Jump out of a window. I will jump off of
a bridge. The cost will be high.
Speaker 5 (39:56):
Coming up next, the cost is high for this Ohio
state football roster.
Speaker 2 (40:00):
Will they be able to cash it in with the
national championship? Martin Vita discussed next.
Speaker 1 (40:05):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.
Speaker 3 (40:08):
That's right.
Speaker 2 (40:09):
We'll coming to you lie from the tire iraq dot
com studio tire rack dot com. We'll love to get
there with the unmax election fast free shipping, free routs
of protection over ten thousand recommending this.
Speaker 5 (40:20):
Dollars tire rack dot com. It's way that tire buying
should be on right here on your Saturday evening. Is
the way that college I mean.
Speaker 3 (40:28):
It used to be.
Speaker 5 (40:30):
I was gonna say, you know, I'm not gonna go
there anyway. College football National Championships on deck.
Speaker 1 (40:34):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (40:35):
The Commanders just scored a touchdown? So what is its?
Ten to seven? Now?
Speaker 2 (40:38):
The score Washington and the league Yeps and the Lions
will get the ball back as we start this.
Speaker 5 (40:45):
As we start this second, I think still nine to seven.
There is an injured lineman that got pushed onward. They're
they're attending, they're tending to the hurt player on the field.
Speaker 3 (40:55):
Right now, STEVEJ.
Speaker 2 (40:55):
Sager will have the injury update and everything of course
around the world sports at the boy him of the album.
Right now, let's take a look, go to the junior
circuit college football, and of course you know at ten
thirty we have J. D.
Speaker 3 (41:06):
Pakel, who I saw.
Speaker 5 (41:07):
Interviewing Jeremiah Smith earlier this week. Yes, I believe he
is down there at the Natty. So I'm interviewing Jeremiah
Smith and atl right, yeah, he told him, you know,
me and Justin Jefferson were both two star prospects. Justin
Jefferson outplayed his JD will be on with us, so there. Wow,
that's my boy, that's my boy.
Speaker 3 (41:28):
But he was talking to Jeremiah Smith, a freshman.
Speaker 2 (41:31):
For Ohio State wide receiver that very dynamic although was
quite the last time the Buckeyes took the field as
Zaying Gondalas takes the field for the Commander's extra point here,
which is pending. Ohio State is prohibitive favorites here, Ryan
Day and the Buck Guy's big favorites.
Speaker 3 (41:49):
VJA.
Speaker 2 (41:49):
You think Notre Dame is gonna win this game. You've
been predicting Notre Dame to win a national championship since.
Speaker 5 (41:55):
The start of the playoffs, So I imagine you're gonna
tell me why you think Nona win this game. Absolutely,
but told you I'm gonna I'm gonnae everybody, get there,
get get the record button ready for this one right here, guys,
guess what I'm gonna do Monday night.
Speaker 3 (42:10):
Mary recorded polease yeah done. Serious.
Speaker 5 (42:12):
This is gonna shock that I've never said anything like
this live on the radio before about a game last week.
He talked about you win either or whether who wins
the game? Right, you and I both being yet you
and I both being Michigan guys. Me being a fans
is eighty five, you being alumni graduated from the great
University of Michigan. There's two teams that we just can't stand.
(42:33):
We got Penn State and we got Little Brother. They
really don't matter because they never really beat us. No
one likes.
Speaker 3 (42:40):
Ohio and Notre Dame.
Speaker 5 (42:42):
This is actually the worst National Championship game I've ever
seen matchup in my life. If it wasn't for Marcus Freeman,
I wouldn't really care who won this game. I am
about eighty twenty of not even watching this game Monday night.
That's how this game affects me. I don't see how
no I see you know.
Speaker 3 (43:02):
I told you guys, he's not gonna believe. I'm dead serious.
Speaker 8 (43:05):
I am.
Speaker 3 (43:06):
I'm dead serious.
Speaker 5 (43:07):
I'm about eighty twenty not watching this game because there
I could take no joy out of this game.
Speaker 3 (43:15):
I could take no joy out of it. I hate
both these teams with up that shit with a passion.
Speaker 5 (43:24):
My younger brother, Tears is a die hard Norder Dame fan.
Do you know what I would have to hear from him.
Do you know what I have to hear from all
the Nordon Dame fans. I already gotta listen to Ohio guys.
But Nordon Dame since nineteen eighty eight ain't won the
national championship. If they were to win this thing, it's
just to me, it's a no win. Mark Thasey can't lose.
(43:46):
I don't think I can win. I'm on the edge
man to just not even watch it. I could just
you know, watch highlights later and see how it played
out and stuff. But I'm gonna tell you someone to
watch this day.
Speaker 3 (43:59):
This is the time when the job is a job.
Speaker 5 (44:02):
Everybody else in America's got to go to work, all right,
Everybody else in America's gotta get up on it. Slept
over the dig there, ditches sitting rush hour traffic all
down Indian Head Highway over there, and.
Speaker 3 (44:17):
Yeah on the belt up. It's just the way it happens.
Speaker 5 (44:23):
You got you gotta go shovel your driveway, get in
your cold ass car, your teeth chattering on your way
to your.
Speaker 3 (44:31):
Job that you hate.
Speaker 5 (44:32):
And that's why we have sports so those people don't
go crazy.
Speaker 3 (44:35):
So those people have something to get through the week.
Speaker 2 (44:38):
So because they know Saturday their team or Sunday their
team is playing, and that's gonna be a big gay winner. Lose,
and you know those co workers, because they'll walk in
Monday and it be like, oh, you look especially mad today.
Speaker 3 (44:49):
What happened?
Speaker 2 (44:49):
Don't even want to talk about it about team lost
or those coworkers who walk in that Monday and they
look like they are walking three feet above the above
the ground. They're floating on a magic carpet. Why because
their team won this, VJA, This is when you have
to do the job. Everybody else got to do the
job Monday through Friday. It's not fun when your team
loses or even worse teams you don't like win either.
Speaker 3 (45:11):
Yes, and that sucks. Man. I hate win teams. I
don't like win the championship. That my friend is the job. No,
I get what the job is.
Speaker 5 (45:20):
But we are syndicating over four hundred and seventy cities
in this country and countless countries because we international open here.
Not one fan is gonna go wow. VJ didn't watch
the National championship game. I'm never listening to that show again.
I just I can't.
Speaker 3 (45:38):
I can't. I can't stomach this game. I can't.
Speaker 5 (45:42):
And I did pick nor the Dame to win it,
but I was hoping they would beat somebody else and
then I could just stomach that. But to have both
these teams in this game, man, I'm just you know,
I might not why it is Martin Luther king birthday. Man,
I might watch the Ivor Dreams speech, or watch like
a documentary or something on the civil rights movie. You know,
maybe the bus boycotts something like that. Just FEMA has
(46:03):
some energy, man, in some history. So I don't have
to put up with two teams that I don't like.
But I do think Nordre Dame is gonna win the
football game. They have the better running game, They're the
more physical team. I think they're the smarter team. I
like their quarterback. To me, the quarterback, I'm going with
Leonard over Will Howard. And when this game I'll tell you, guys,
how this game is gonna end. Mark my words. Guys,
I've been right on this twice already. I'm gonna cash
(46:24):
in on the third time. The game is gonna be close.
It's gonna be Will Howard's hands. Mark it down. Will
Howard is going to give this game up. And that's
how Norder Dame better coach team. I think they're more physical,
they run the ball up. They're the number two or one.
I believe it scored defense in the nation. You can't
(46:44):
score on this defense. And they hit you from so
many different ways. And I know Ohio State allegedly twenty
one million in the roster. They've looked good, but they
didn't look impressive against Texas guys.
Speaker 3 (46:55):
The Scooper score makes that game what it is. But
at the end of the day, you know Texas is
to punch that thing again. Tie that game.
Speaker 2 (47:01):
The story for me out of the Texas State game is, Quinn,
you were just a madman for going through the NFL.
Speaker 3 (47:08):
Dude, what ten seconds you want to talk about? This
makes no sense.
Speaker 2 (47:13):
And man, young man, if they're offering you eight million
dollars to play college football, go ahead and take that
because that's the most money you're gonna make playing football for.
Speaker 5 (47:24):
The rest of you all I and watch this, Mario,
who who would you draft if you had to take one?
If you had to take one him or back?
Speaker 3 (47:29):
Which one?
Speaker 6 (47:29):
Mark?
Speaker 3 (47:29):
Who you take it? You know what?
Speaker 2 (47:31):
I'm taking vacation I'm booking the vacation now because i
know I'm getting fired.
Speaker 3 (47:40):
Fired.
Speaker 5 (47:42):
I'm like Doug Peterson called, hey, babe, make plans for
January because I'm not gonna be working.
Speaker 3 (47:49):
I will have nothing to do, and we're.
Speaker 5 (47:51):
Gonna go ahead to take Mark Davis's guaranteed money because
I'm fired, book.
Speaker 3 (47:58):
The trip man. I saw that. I saw that he declared,
and I was like, we had a real Scooby Doo moment.
Speaker 2 (48:07):
Dad catch good orda hell, Sam Laport with the one
handed catch, as as Jared Golf getting tackled around his ankles. Honestly,
not the first time today we saw a quarterback horizontal
to the ground throwing a touchdown pass. Jared Golf pulling
a little Patrick Mahomes there're way less athletic, but still
effective as he completes the touchdown pass ten ten to nine.
Speaker 3 (48:29):
The score here is and you know what's the sickest
part of this.
Speaker 5 (48:32):
Look at Dan Skipper running the He cleared it out
exactly the number seventy the backup tackle.
Speaker 3 (48:38):
This is out.
Speaker 2 (48:39):
There as Sam Laport, Wayne did catch the second year
tight end. Okay, so here's the thing. Ohio Stage is
more talented than than Notre Dame is. I think that's undoubted,
usually from recruiting rankings to just eye text right, But
the book to beat Ohio State was put out the
(49:00):
Saturday after Thanksgiving, and it seems as if nobody got
a chance to pick it up. AJ Brown should have
been reading that book on the sidelines instead of Inner Excellence,
because then maybe you Texas would have been able to
beat Ohio State. Notre Dame is going to run the ball.
They do not want Riley Leonard to throw the ball
thirty times. No, they don't want him to which guess what,
(49:23):
neither dead Michigan Michigan did not want.
Speaker 3 (49:25):
Davis Warren to throw the ball. Who's that Mark, Davis Warren? Okay,
who's the school? What do you play for? What team
was that? That was Michigan Oka.
Speaker 5 (49:33):
So I think that Notre Dame has that's how they
win this game. If file State gets the lead, I
think it'll be tough for Notre Dame to come back.
But I don't I expect this to be a war
four game two score lya okay because the ten point game,
I'm not there yet. Because that Notre Dame defense will
cost turnovers. They'll get the ball back for you. Ohistan's
gonna turn the ball over twice in his game. They're
gonna turn the ball over twice in his game. This
(49:55):
defense makes you cough it up. They're gonna turn the
ball over twice in his game.
Speaker 2 (50:00):
So see if that happens. But it's gonna be Notre Dame.
We're going to control the time possession. They're gonna have
to run the ball with love and Leonard, and I
think that is They're gonna be death by five yard
runs here. You know what I'm saying is just keep
running and running and running, like Marshawn Lynch said, until
you run.
Speaker 5 (50:18):
Through through his face exactly, till you run through its face.
Speaker 2 (50:23):
So that'll be Monday. I don't know what VJ will
probably be. I don't know reading a book, but I'll
be watching this game. So feel free away and.
Speaker 5 (50:29):
With eighty twenty. It's not Garante, just eighty twenty. Mark, Dude,
I'm being honest. I'm not even trying to just like
make a fun second. I'm being dude. I can't you
know how I feel about Michigan, bro, Like I'm that's
in my blood. I live through this. I can't this
game just affected this. Those two logos just drives me
spinning of logos.
Speaker 2 (50:50):
Speaking of logos, I think Jim Harball made good on
his promise, didn't he did?
Speaker 5 (50:56):
He did?
Speaker 3 (50:56):
He get the tattoo. Yay, got it? He got the tattoo. Yeah,
you guys. I's all you guys.
Speaker 2 (51:04):
But VJ made a big plotclamation he was gonna get
a block am tattooed.
Speaker 5 (51:09):
No, I mean it's a whole thing. It's not just
a blocking. I'm getting a National championship and everything. All.
Speaker 3 (51:13):
Let me tell you why.
Speaker 5 (51:13):
I haven't gotten it yet, though, but I am gonna
get a man of my word. I do want to
make sure that the NC double A don't try to
do no sneaky stuff and try to Yeah, I'm gonna
be honest with you. I'm being honest though, because they
could it looks like in the clear. But once I
know clear clear, I'm a man of my word. Bro,
I'm getting I'm getting my Michigan National champions It might
be one contained well, it was just like the Texas
(51:34):
Rangers one. I'm getting to the World Series. Uh tattoo
also too for my Rangers, the first time in my
life they ever won it. First time, ever, I got
to get the tach. I'm just saying we've already we've
had another World Series winner since then, I know, and
by Monday we'll have another college football national champion. I'm just,
I just I don't even want to. Can I not
recognize this year as can I just not be like
there was no twenty twenty five twelve team playoff championship
(51:58):
this year?
Speaker 3 (51:58):
I can't do that, Honey. In that it's probably like
against some kind of rule or something or I mean,
you know, that could be your personal word view on it.
Speaker 2 (52:06):
It's kind of like when people say stuff like they
don't believe in gravity, or they don't believe in like
premaal sex.
Speaker 5 (52:10):
It's like, you may not believe it, but it definitely exists. Well,
you say that about the moon, but I'm right about that.
You guys think the moon's right there? You know what, Mark,
that's my bad. It was right the moon, Yeah it
was right there. You dropped it, Yeah, you dropped it
was right there. Man, What do you think of this
game so far? They moved down, Detroit moves down, sticks
it right in the end zone and goes up fourteen
to ten, and Washington's got a they gotta come back
(52:33):
in answer now, Skipper, Yeah, you're right, look at them.
That's a big human being playing eligible receiver.
Speaker 2 (52:39):
Fourteen to ten so far the Lions and Commander's score,
it's gonna be this is a big drive for Washington.
I think they need to keep they need to stay
attached this entire game if they want to win it.
I do think they have a fourth quarter comeback in them,
but it will ultimately come up short.
Speaker 3 (52:55):
That's if it's a two score game.
Speaker 2 (52:57):
If this is a one score game, I mean, at
the sound risk of being reductions, of course, anybody can
win it. But we've seen the Commanders have crazy success
in one score late game scenarios. I wouldn't necessarily favor them,
but you would not blink twice if you saw Jayden
Daniels make some type of play in the fourth quarter
(53:17):
to get them into a position to make a game
winning play, because it's all he's done all year?
Speaker 5 (53:21):
Am I crazy to think that next season Brian Branch
would be the best safety in all the football? He
might be this year, Okay right right now, I just
think I just I don't have more year.
Speaker 2 (53:31):
Didn't think about it, but he might be right now,
who would you have definitively better.
Speaker 5 (53:37):
Not not definitibly better. But Antoine Winfield Junior is still
Derwin James.
Speaker 3 (53:42):
I'd have those two ahead of Derwin right now. I
heard you've had Branch ahead of Darwin. They can cover
better than Darwin can cover.
Speaker 5 (53:50):
And Darren just take. But Durren he erases so many mistakes.
Though that's that he may not cover, but he erases
so many. Branch is just such a ball hawk football player,
like Paula Mahlu Palamhlu was just a ball hawk for
Ed Reid. Those guys are just ball hawk football players.
And you got guys that can just erase stays. I
don't think Everyett ever really erased mistakes. The mistakes were made.
(54:13):
They were made as McLaurin breaks in the open here
and turns on the Jets geez.
Speaker 3 (54:18):
And just like that into the end zones.
Speaker 2 (54:20):
Sixteen to fourteen will be the score if there's not
a flag here or anything like that. Kirbie Joseph could
not take down Terry McLaurin, but as a few of
those type of Steff Arm touchdowns this year, he's really
come on. And let's talk about two teams in the
AFC that have come on that Ravens and the Bills,
they already know the winner of that game.
Speaker 3 (54:39):
Is playing the Kansas City Chiefs.
Speaker 2 (54:40):
We're gonna pick this game at the bottom of the
y how or we're picking at nine thirty. But coming
up next we'll talk about which one of these teams
faces the bigger challenge for Kansas City and their quest
for history.
Speaker 3 (54:53):

the best way to join the show.
Speaker 3 (55:30):
We got any tweets on they're talking to us.
Speaker 2 (55:31):
Yep, well just everybody replying to my tweet earlier. I
have two tweets that I sent out today the two
Texans hitting each other in the head, saying, this is
one of the worst calls we'll see in this league.
This is the playoffs, and people agreeing and then everybody
else stops. Just people not understanding how covering the spread works.
On the closing line, I got an eight and a
(55:53):
half on Wednesday. I understand that that's not the closing line.
The closing line is the one that we talked about
for every other game that sheer like.
Speaker 5 (56:01):
But anyway, Ah, Derek, did you see the one Derek putlong?
He said, I don't know if he's saying this is
you or this is me? Oh a younger wife's okay,
uh spotted geez gear earlier. I just got this little kid.
That guy always posted some crazy stuff. Oh what about
(56:24):
the push heard around the world early in the game.
The special Team's got that pushed it? That was that
was That was what because it didn't feel like you
know what guys you know push you like, yeah, come on,
It really looked like he went and pushed him a
quick side story too. Uh could be uh something that
would golf and say get to at the bottom of
(56:45):
the hour, but being taken it too. The blue tentt
just all the listeners may not be watching the game
right now and now going straight to the back.
Speaker 3 (56:50):
Right past the blue tentt.
Speaker 5 (56:53):
Judy, he took a shot on that pick six that
he threw as he's as right at the end, he
gets leveled in all upper back in back of head.
Speaker 3 (57:01):
Hit ground, So well, keep you guys just updated on
that real quick. Yeah, probably being evaluated for a concussion here.
Speaker 2 (57:06):
Oh yeah, he got took a shot right in the
bottom of the chin and hit his head on the ground.
But outside of just the violence of the hit, not
showing any signs that I can see so far of concussion.
He's walking around talking, you know. Yeah, he's had to
hit Dan Gamble. I'm good as he's walking out, so
don't expect him to miss any time.
Speaker 5 (57:28):
But obviously we'll keep you updated. Sep Sager, of course
is Teddy Bridgewater. It is Teddy Bridgewater. Wow, Teddy Bridgewater Active.
I already won a championship this year. Only problems was
in high school football. Sent him in motion and run
a touch push. Yeah, recall that false start on the
first play with Teddy Bridgewater.
Speaker 2 (57:45):
In all right, Lions are in a dangerous waters right now.
Jarreed golf not playing so well in this game. But
also Teddy Bridgewater.
Speaker 5 (57:54):
Did not play pro football this year until after Thanksgiving.
Deerren Headlights, I'm saying telling you I watched him in
Miami as a backup guys two years ago. You know,
in the Jet game. I know you remember the Jet Game.
He's in there for one play, got hit on his
arm and he looked like a Deerren headlights. He got
out of that game. So damn fast, bro, he's a
Deerren headlights out here. This is not good for Detroit.
Speaker 2 (58:16):
I mean he's been out there for one play and
just handsed it off pretty well there.
Speaker 5 (58:19):
Jamier Gibbs gets the first down right after well, I mean,
we'll see what he does here.
Speaker 3 (58:25):
I can't. He hasn't played football all over here.
Speaker 2 (58:27):
Joe Flako was driving carpool, came out and took the
was the Browns on the run, right.
Speaker 3 (58:32):
But he got in at about week ten in the season.
Speaker 5 (58:34):
You get about six seven weeks of getting going, then
you can go in a little run to be thrown
into a game, in a playoff game in the second
quarter because the starter gets knocked out and you haven't
played football all year long. Yeah, he'll complete a few passes,
but I just I've seen him in the deer headlights before.
Speaker 3 (58:47):
But like you said, I'm rooting for your Teddy.
Speaker 2 (58:49):
Okay five and oh is backup quarterback for the New
Orleans saying who's got a better shot of beating the Chiefs?
Speaker 5 (58:54):
The Ravens are the Bills, man, I think the Ravens do.
I think the Ravens have the better chance because they
have Derrick Henry and they can pound Derrick Henry at
that defense, right at Chris Jones, right at Kor Lapskins
out there on the end right it uh those linebackers
in those backers in the middle, man, they can pound
(59:16):
Derrick Henry. The only reserve I have is how long.
Speaker 3 (59:19):
Is my man's z out.
Speaker 5 (59:21):
That's the only reserve I have is how long is
he out? If he's out for an extended period of
time as we're watching, just keep talking.
Speaker 3 (59:31):
Finished the point in.
Speaker 5 (59:32):
Yeah, yeah, I just think they have the offense to
pound with Derrick Henry, and then when with jay Z
being out, that would be my only reserve. Lamar Jackson though,
I'll take over over Josh Apple, turnover Allen, and I
think they also have the better defense and salar taste
in their mouth from the AMC Championship game.
Speaker 3 (59:52):
It will be great now to get paid back to.
Speaker 5 (59:55):
Go and now get a dub and arrowhead after the
Chiefs went into crack k Town and got a double
over them last year and AFC Championship game.
Speaker 2 (01:00:04):
I think it's the Ravens too, in part because of
the game we saw today.
Speaker 3 (01:00:08):
Buffalo is a more high scoring team.
Speaker 2 (01:00:11):
Their defense will give up some points, but Josh Allen
has been able to match those points in almost every game,
most famously against the Lions when they beat the Lions
and then against the Rams where you know these are
forty point games. That is Josh Allen just doing his
thing right. So I think the Ravens have a better
shot because they're gonna be able to control the ball.
Kansas City's trying to play that ball control game too.
(01:00:32):
The benefit is when you.
Speaker 3 (01:00:34):
Play that type of style of football.
Speaker 2 (01:00:36):
The scoring is down, you know, scoring is down, and
the margins are less like even as poorly as Kansas
City played today as poorly as Houston played today, they
had an opportunity until about six minutes left in the
fourth quarter.
Speaker 3 (01:00:49):
That game was a toss up. You know, it was
a toss up as bad as the team played.
Speaker 2 (01:00:53):
And when you're not scoring a ton of points, that's
how it can go. Now the Lions, they scored a
ton of points. Just scored here Teddy Ridgewater deer in headlights.
You know what didn't matter? Steve Seger, tell us what happened?
And did he get a flag for that celebration? Because
that deserves a flag. I don't really think it does.
Speaker 3 (01:01:09):
But did not see a flag.
Speaker 9 (01:01:13):
And we have forty five total points and it's not
yet halftime at Detroit. Washington's lead in this divisional playoff
game is twenty four to twenty one. We have over
five hundred total yards combined so far in this one.
Did I mention it's not yet halftime. Meanwhile, we've got
Jaden Daniels who did throw a fifty eight yard touchdown
to Terry McLaurin. M Jayden Daniels in the first half
(01:01:36):
twelve of eighteen one hundred and ninety nine yards in
a TD He's up to thirty four touchdowns combined in
his rookie year passing and rushing combined. The NFL record
is thirty six in a rookie year by Justin Herbert
in twenty twenty. Washington did get not only the long
pass to McLaurin for a seventeen to fourteen lead, but
(01:01:59):
then with Jared Off at the controls for Detroit, he
threw one high.
Speaker 5 (01:02:06):
It's just.
Speaker 1 (01:02:09):
Norm it's out the time, So.
Speaker 9 (01:02:14):
Jared Goff throws the pick six on Fox TV, and yes,
Goff was injured on the return. He took a Frankie
Luvu block inside the ten just before Washington crossed the
goal line. And it's now twenty four to twenty one
over the lines because Teddy Bridgewater started a play that
wound up and end around to Jamison Williams sixty one
(01:02:35):
yard touchdown run. So right now under four minutes to
go in the first half, twenty four to twenty one
the Commander's lead. Washington has won six in a row.
Detroit the one seed in the NFC fifteen to two
this year. Washington's run defense was among the worst in
the league this year. It allowed almost one hundred forty
yards rushing per game on average two opponents. Jamiir Gibbs
(01:02:57):
eight carries eighty five yards in a touch down in
the first half against the Commanders. Kansas City at home undefeated,
they beat Houston twenty three fourteen. That's nine to zero
at home this season, yet another close win. Travis Kelcey
seven receptions, one hundred and seventeen yards and a touchdown.
The Chiefs are into the AFC Championship Game for the
(01:03:18):
seventh straight year. Kansas City will be hosting next weekend
to the NBA. Phoenix got thirty six points from Kevin
Durant and thirty five from Devin Booker at a win
at Detroit today one twenty five, one twenty one in
the final seconds in fact just final at Indiana, Pacers
beat Philadelphia one fifteen to one oh two. For Philly,
Paul George was out with a groin injury. Joel and
(01:03:40):
Beat out at least another week with Nie Swelling. He
was out earlier in January with the sprain foot. The
Warriors are just twenty and twenty this season, and they're
losing at home late first half to the Washington Wizards
fifty five forty eight. Jordan Poole at Golden State with
twenty one points in the first half. The Wizards enter
with the record of six and thirty three. Also in
(01:04:03):
the NBA, Celtics are going overtime. They're about to tip
the ot in Boston. Celtics tied with the Atlanta Hawks
at one oh four. College hoops Number one Auburn won
seventy to sixty eight at Georgia. West Virginia upset Number
two Iowa State. Alabama won at Kentucky at Vanderbilt beat
number six Tennessee seventy six seventy five, and Xavier won
(01:04:25):
at number seven Marquette fifty nine fifty seven. Well, we're
at the two minute warning of this offensive show in Detroit.
Washington's got a first and goal coming up. Yes, they've
driven down to that already. In two minutes, they've gone
four plays, sixty four yards, chance for more points before
the break. For the moment, Commander's twenty four twenty one
(01:04:46):
at Detroit.
Speaker 3 (01:04:47):
Back to you.
Speaker 2 (01:04:48):
Now, I've done a ton of updates on this network.
Now they pale of comparisons. The amount of Steve is done.
Speaker 5 (01:04:54):
But he started that update at the start of the
Washington drive, which is after a lie score.
Speaker 3 (01:05:01):
He started in commercial bus drive. It's two minutes in
one set drive that whole time.
Speaker 2 (01:05:07):
In his update, the Commanders already got to the red
zone just in that time period.
Speaker 3 (01:05:12):
I would have looked up and been like, no, I
must be looking at this wrong.
Speaker 9 (01:05:15):
There's no way and another big game for Diami Brown
out of nowhere. He is already up to four catches
ninety six yards for Washington in the first half.
Speaker 5 (01:05:23):
Had a touchdown last week he did and Steve That's
why I mentioned the secondary. Right, I talked about Jayden
Daniels having a guy mcclearing. You see the play he makes, right,
big played Jayden didny on the sidelines today. This secondary
it's it's beat up. It just is what it is.
Speaker 3 (01:05:37):
Massive amount of injuries is what it is. We can't
just keep there.
Speaker 5 (01:05:40):
But this defense is literally about to give up thirty
points plus in the first half.
Speaker 9 (01:05:45):
The thing is Detroit had the best offense in the NFC.
Where's what it's interesting. We see these two top seeds
on the same day. Because the Chiefs are sixteen and two.
They didn't have a single game where they scored more
than thirty points. Yep, Detroit averaged over thirty points this
year and got too well, it would be sixteen and
two if they win this one tonight.
Speaker 3 (01:06:05):
Chiefs won a playoff game today with two hundred and
thirty yards most of it. Travis Kelsey.
Speaker 5 (01:06:10):
Yeah, right, But a few weeks ago I talked about
him saving himself right about week sixteen. Honestly, week fifteen,
Week sixteen, you could just see his body language start
to change, like, dude, I know what I am at
this point in my career. I'm way more valuable in
January than I am in September October. Screw your fantasy
league guys. So I've given you enough fantasy love guys
(01:06:30):
for ten plus years.
Speaker 3 (01:06:31):
It's about me, right, It's about me now.
Speaker 9 (01:06:33):
And the Chiefs a veteran roster at this point. Yes, really,
as we look back, used the off week to finish
the regular season. Because there was no mention of the
ankle injury for Home Mahomes anymore, there was Kelsey looking
like the old Kelsey. I did see the calf being
worked on at defensive linemen for Chris Jones, but aside
(01:06:53):
from that casey, you know, it.
Speaker 3 (01:06:55):
Wasn't like the muscles get tight as cold.
Speaker 9 (01:06:57):
It wasn't like they had three or four straight three
and a half. It's to start after all this time
off since Christmas.
Speaker 3 (01:07:02):
No, no, they I mean it's they just win.
Speaker 5 (01:07:06):
That's the This is one of my favorite casey of
this run they've had this year.
Speaker 3 (01:07:09):
You guys, I've been banged on them because this is
this is football.
Speaker 5 (01:07:12):
Sometimes you sometimes you look great and sometimes you don't.
Speaker 3 (01:07:15):
But at the end of the day, when they went
all the close games, thank you.
Speaker 5 (01:07:19):
That says something when when you're winning like there was
like well fourteenth straight one possession games in a row
that they like when you do that.
Speaker 9 (01:07:25):
Twelve in one season, which is a.
Speaker 3 (01:07:28):
Record, ridiculous. All right, let's get to the picks.
Speaker 4 (01:07:33):
All right, good, get some music going there, Thank you, Mary.
So just updating the playoff picks. Here going. So last
week Martin, you went three and two, VJ you went
four and one, So you VJ are ahead right now?
Speaker 3 (01:07:46):
Well no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. I know
what you're gonna say.
Speaker 4 (01:07:49):
You're gonna say that that that Chiefs Texans game where
I miss you didn't but that's part.
Speaker 5 (01:07:55):
Of okay overall score.
Speaker 4 (01:07:58):
But uh, anyway, we'll get the rest of the matchups here,
let's go h Rams Eagles. Eagles are favored by six
and a half points. Martin will start with you.
Speaker 2 (01:08:08):
I'm taking the Rams here. I'm taking the Rams. I
get the better head coach, I get the better quarterback.
I'm not too concerned about the weather. I know Matthew
Stafford has struggled.
Speaker 5 (01:08:17):
Necessarily, like one in nine to his record in bad
weather games, cold weather games. Here's the thing. He was
on a bad weather team. He was on a bad team,
the Detroit Lions. Yeah, he's going out there, but he
went to Chicago once a year and went to Green
Bay once a year, beat the Jets this year in
bad weather, and just give a Apparently, Jeff Olbrook's okay,
he just got high as foul because defensive coordinator. He
(01:08:38):
will tell me how you know, that's why I saw
shouldn't have gotten fired. And I'm just playing.
Speaker 2 (01:08:42):
I think that the Rams offense is going to be
able to keep up. And I don't believe in Jalen
Hurts as a quarterback to be able to come back
in a passing game. Saquan's margats in the lives because
the Rams score too much in this one. Give me
los Angeles to win outright and cover obviously, what's the.
Speaker 3 (01:09:00):
Six and a half right now? Six and a half.
Speaker 5 (01:09:04):
I'm I'm gonna take the Rams too, because just sometimes
in a season and the postseason, there is always a
team that kind of gets galvanized by something. And I
do think being this placed last week, the uh what's
going on out here in LA I think they carry that.
I mean, he's you know, some of these guys still
haven't even gotten back to their homes and stuff, and
then you have to take care of family things of that nature.
I think it brings a team closer together. And last week,
(01:09:27):
even though it was a neutral site, it felt like
a road game. The Viking fans were just crazy out there.
But I'll give them to cover. I think they do
cover this game. I believe it's close. But I'm on
the opposite from Mark with Jalen Hurts. I think Jalen
Hurts is that guy. I think he's a bona fide
superstar quarterback in this league. He's one of my top
six or seven quarterbacks definitely. I think he makes enough
(01:09:48):
place with his legs tomorrow. I think he's a guy
like Travis Kelse. He's been saving himself did get too
bigging up. Other than the concussion, the cncussion was the
only thing. But it want to legs and wanting to hippie,
wanting to the calf, the quad.
Speaker 3 (01:09:57):
It was the last two.
Speaker 5 (01:09:58):
Years, and I think that they see what's in front
of him and getting back to a super Bowl and
trying to maybe dethrow in those Chiefs from getting three
in a row. So give me the Rams to cover.
But Philly's gonna win his Philly's gonna win his game.
Speaker 4 (01:10:09):
Go to the NFC Championship game, all right, Gotta acknowledge
Jaden Daniels just threw another touchdown pass and before halftime
here he has two hundred and forty two yards and
two touchdowns.
Speaker 2 (01:10:17):
Yeah, zach Ertz, who was evaluated from concussion earlier now
back in the game, touchdown thirty one to twenty one
Commanders in the league.
Speaker 4 (01:10:23):
But anyway, one more game to get to here. We
got the Ravens Bills. Honestly, my opinion, that's the best
game of the weekend here. So what it's betty much
pretty much a pick them pretty much to pick them
one point favorites are the Ravens. What do we think I'm.
Speaker 2 (01:10:36):
Taking the Bills here, and I'm not gonna like it.
It's gonna be a long summer for Lamar Jackson. He's
gonna win his third MVP, and all we're gonna hear
about is how we.
Speaker 5 (01:10:44):
Can't get a Donam post season. I don't necessarily believe
that's the case. I just think this Buffalo team has
really been on a good run. It's been like Lamar's
great year. But with the Steelers put out there defensively
was embarrassing. Honestly, that effort was really embarrassing. Run fits laughable.
Buffalo will be better than that, and Buffalo has the
(01:11:04):
ability to score points with Baltimore Pittsburgh didn't.
Speaker 3 (01:11:09):
That's gonna be the difference. Give me the Bills at.
Speaker 5 (01:11:11):
Home twenty one and twenty two. I told people the
Bills windle had closed. They'll win some games. He'll get
to ten, eleven, twelve wins in some seasons, they'll get
to the Divisional round, but they won't get back to
the AFC Championship Game, and they won't win the Super Bowl.
That windows closed. I stand by that the better quarterback
is Lamar Jackson. He's proven that by winning two MVPs
and actually having his team with Home fu the events
(01:11:31):
last year, something Josh Allen has not been able to
do in his entire career so far. But once again,
just Derek Henry, Derek Henry, Dereck Henry, Dereck Henry, Lamar Poles,
Andrews back somebody. Baitman looks like he's kind of shaping
up and falling to where we thought he was gonna
be when he first came out of the Big ten
to the NFL. Give me the Ravens here to win
this game and set up in AFC Championship in rematch
(01:11:52):
from last year with the Chiefs.
Speaker 3 (01:11:53):
So I'll take the raverser.
Speaker 2 (01:11:54):
Jared Golf was checked for a concussion. He's back in
the game. First down right now. Detroit tries to two
minute drill their way down into at least field goal range,
trailing the Commanders by ten. So just for the record,
that means we what you picked the Eagles, We both
picked the Rams to cover, and we just differ.
Speaker 3 (01:12:12):
I think the Bills when you think the Ravens win.
All right, there we go.
Speaker 2 (01:12:16):
And we also had this week where we did the
Chiefs nine and a half, who covered that already, and
we're both on the commander's plus eight and a half.
Who are currently, like I said, with a ten point
lead coming up in just a moment.
Speaker 3 (01:12:28):
I think we're both safe in this game.
Speaker 2 (01:12:29):
We will looks right now, we've got eighteen and a
half points to play with.
Speaker 3 (01:12:34):
Yeah, so I would think we're both safe in this game.
Speaker 5 (01:12:37):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (01:12:38):
Coming up in just MOMBI play a game of who
you got?
Speaker 5 (01:12:40):
Ian?
Speaker 3 (01:12:40):
Do you have a what? Who is this? What's the
subject of who you got? Are you just going to
hold us in suspense? At least give us the teams.
I would like to know that. You'd like to know, Quills,
who you got game of the week? He says, I
haven't heard that.
Speaker 2 (01:12:54):
One floor Chris mccallis the longest Super Bowl touchdown interception
with her for a touchdown.
Speaker 3 (01:13:00):
Chris MacAllister, there you go, I have that in just
a minute. Martin Wis's VJA Husky Foss Ward Football Saturday.
Speaker 5 (01:13:07):
Coming to you Lar from the tire Right dot Com Studios.
Speaker 3 (01:13:10):
Hit us up on on Twitter with your two cents.
Speaker 5 (01:13:12):
I'm at Martin Wise's VJ at Big Vanilla Funny As
Jared Goff throws his second interception, of the first half.
To close the first half, Mikey Sanders drill running the
route for Jamison Williams on what was honestly a bad
throw VJ. He heard the song before, I think I haven't.
(01:13:33):
Can I take a guess at who I think this
is though, because somebody has come up with an album.
I didn't know about it, and recently I heard about it.
Le Angelo Ball the Angel, Yeah the Ball Brough Is
this him?
Speaker 1 (01:13:46):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (01:13:47):
Turn that up? Tweaker out on what's the name of
the song? Tweaker?
Speaker 5 (01:13:55):
Okay, I thought he was just saying it. Man, Marke
gets so sisant. I just thought he was just saying
the word tweaker. I don't know the name of the song,
so okay, that's why I said tweaker. So all at
all streaming platform have either one of you guys listen
to the whole album yet? Are most of it or
kind of got kindergart rap?
Speaker 3 (01:14:13):
Mayor I know you're into it? Can he rap?
Speaker 5 (01:14:14):
Can he rap?
Speaker 3 (01:14:14):
American?
Speaker 5 (01:14:15):
It's not hot?
Speaker 3 (01:14:16):
Okay? Five?
Speaker 4 (01:14:17):
Right? He's got like a thirteen million dollar deal out
of this song. He just signed with a record company.
Speaker 5 (01:14:22):
I saw that you and he also owns his published
something about. There's a portion of it that most artists
don't get. He was able to finaggle in the deal
that he gets full older. He had eight million up front.
Okay there, yeah, but there's some ownership part of it too,
all right.
Speaker 3 (01:14:35):
I think he also owns all of his masters too,
So tweaker, that's it.
Speaker 2 (01:14:39):
Yeah, this is a song Jello anyway, he's performing at
halftime of the Lions Commanders get oh is he yes today?
Speaker 3 (01:14:45):
So oh, I'll tell you this right now.
Speaker 2 (01:14:48):
Lions fans have no interest in bending the corner r
at the moment as they are down.
Speaker 3 (01:14:53):
Whoa? They're down. That's all they're saying, is whoa.
Speaker 2 (01:14:56):
As they look at the score thirty one twenty one,
Commanders in the lead, Jared Goff, through his second interception,
was checked for a concussion at the half, and the
Lion scored one of their points one of their touchdowns
while Golf was off the field. So things developing interestingly
for this game thus far, Le's go ahead and play
a game ourselves.
Speaker 3 (01:15:14):
Who you got? All right? Who you got?
Speaker 4 (01:15:23):
I am thinking of a player or a coach or
an executive that a something to do with either the
bills or the Ravens organizations. I'm gonna give you guys clues,
and hopefully each one makes it a little bit easier
so that by the time we get to the last clue,
you'll have hopefully got.
Speaker 3 (01:15:36):
I'm going for three in a row today.
Speaker 4 (01:15:38):
Let's go all right, let's jump right in the first clue.
This guy was a Day three draft pick of one
of these two teams.
Speaker 3 (01:15:45):
Okay, day three draft pretop. I mean he's fourth to seventh,
DeMar Hamlin incorrect and yes, yeah, four to seven, So
it was four to seventh.
Speaker 4 (01:15:58):
Hey, Steve Tasker, No wow, I was expending some good
some good guesses on that one. Just just Day three
pick to go off. But next here we go. He's played.
He's played for seven different NFL franchises over a fourteen
year career, and I won't tell you if he's still
active or not yet.
Speaker 5 (01:16:16):
Seven teams, fourteen years. Question though, real fast, does this Raven?
Does this player have any connection to the old Cleveland
Browns too? But was a Raven when they got to Baltimore,
was here brown and then when the move team moved,
he became a Raven.
Speaker 3 (01:16:34):
He's only been in the league fourteen years of camping.
Speaker 4 (01:16:36):
No, he had a fourteen year career either or I
don't believe he was there for any franchise.
Speaker 3 (01:16:42):
Okay, switching, that's actually a smart question. I know what's problem.
Speaker 5 (01:16:46):
You say, he's not gonna tell us if it's a
current player, which means it could have been an old guy.
Speaker 3 (01:16:49):
Yeah, it could have been. Okay, Oh, I see what
Eric Metcalf. No, not Eric Metcalf.
Speaker 2 (01:16:57):
I'll go with a day three pick seven teams, fourteen
year career, Frank w Reich.
Speaker 3 (01:17:03):
Nope.
Speaker 4 (01:17:05):
Next, he was the ACC Player of the Year in
his final year of college.
Speaker 5 (01:17:14):
A C C P o I Calvin Benjamin Differ didn't
play for fourteen teams and he wasn't the ACC Player.
Speaker 3 (01:17:21):
Of the year either.
Speaker 5 (01:17:22):
He's just he definitely wasn't a definitely that was in
the ACC that wasted by one.
Speaker 3 (01:17:28):
Of these teams. Fourteen year, seventeen.
Speaker 5 (01:17:31):
I know, Yeah, journeyman Day three pick ACC guy. Journeyman
ACC guy, journeyman ACC guy. This isn't This is an
old This is an older player and he's not active.
Speaker 3 (01:17:43):
He can't be.
Speaker 4 (01:17:44):
We'll get to the next clue here. He's made one
Pro Bowl and it was while playing for one of
these teams.
Speaker 3 (01:17:50):
One Pro Bowl. Is this a kicker? It's not a kicker.
I'll tell you that. Okay, one Pro Bowl for one
Pro Bowl.
Speaker 5 (01:18:02):
It's a it's a skilled guy because his ACC Player
of the Year lineman don't win that, so that eliminates
that seventeens teen years and it's got to be then
it's got to be a quarterback who plays fourteen years
in the NFL, especially for seven teams.
Speaker 3 (01:18:16):
Josh Joe, Oh, Doug Flutie Nope, Nope, good guess is
no again? All right? Rob Johnson, No, this one should help.
Speaker 4 (01:18:23):
I think he was drafted out Tech. No, Virginia Tech
in twenty eleven.
Speaker 3 (01:18:30):
Twenty eleven Virginia Tech defensive back. But far Logan Thomas Nope,
Virginia Tech. Yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:18:40):
I can't think Kaylo Farley the only guy I think
if he's the first round pick, wouldn't no Day three pick.
Speaker 4 (01:18:44):
This one will really help, So any any other last
minute guests before this, this clue, which should have opened
it up a little.
Speaker 5 (01:18:49):
No, no on, hold again, give me give me fifteen,
give me a fifteen questions A playing gentlemen, Ravens, Ravens, that's.
Speaker 3 (01:18:58):
What's getting me it's not. It's not Eugene Manuel. He's
the first round pick EJ Manuel.
Speaker 4 (01:19:06):
All right, next one, this should definitely help. He was
the first Bill's QB to rush for five hundred plus
yards in a season, to rush.
Speaker 2 (01:19:15):
For five hundred yards in the season, the first Bill's
quarterback to rush for five hundred yard. Day three pick
seven teams, fo you guess that.
Speaker 3 (01:19:24):
It's got But it's a court's I said it was
a quarterback. It's a quarterback. This one, this one should
give it away.
Speaker 4 (01:19:33):
A team doctor puncturing this guy's long pregame famous Taylor
Iron Taylor, I'm surprised.
Speaker 2 (01:19:45):
Was a Day three pick. That's surprising to me. Come
it up, next, comit it. We'll break down that game
and some more. Tyrod Taylor Day three. How about that
you don't listening to sports radio? That's right, and we're
broadcasting live on tyrack dot com, SVIDIOSI, iraq dot com.
Love to get there. I'm back to selection, fast free
(01:20:06):
shipping feriod. It has a protection and over ten thousand.
I recommend it to all ti rack dot com.
Speaker 3 (01:20:11):
So why that tire buying should be ford Field?
Speaker 2 (01:20:14):
I don't know how they're feeling after that, I'm sure
what was raucous Langelo ball performance at the half getting
ready to start the second half. Here the Commanders and
the Lions have taken the field one seed, Lions trailing
by ten and kicking off to Jaden Daniels and the
Commanders here thirty one twenty one to score.
Speaker 3 (01:20:36):
Can I thought something not really fast?
Speaker 5 (01:20:38):
We just just for you because this reminds me a
lot about last year Washington wins this game, Like what
does that do for you know, for for Jaden Daniels?
And do you now think they have a legitimate shot
to go win the whole damn thing? I mean, are
they just or did they just catch Detroit?
Speaker 2 (01:20:55):
To me, if you're in the NFC throw if you're
in the NFC Championship game, hell, yeah you.
Speaker 3 (01:20:59):
Got a shot.
Speaker 5 (01:21:00):
But but legit, like you could go, hey, man, they
can win this day night.
Speaker 3 (01:21:05):
Hey they're an NFCY championship game.
Speaker 5 (01:21:06):
Well the thing is, I mean, I just a few
years back, I was all in on the forty nine ers.
Speaker 2 (01:21:13):
Yeah, you know, NFC Championship game happens, brock Party's arm
gets hit, turns into a noodle. They no longer ever
quarterback Eagles walk to the Super Bowl.
Speaker 5 (01:21:22):
Ryan, I'm gonna say they didn't earn the spot, but
in that game they walk to the quarterback.
Speaker 3 (01:21:27):
You know what I'm saying. Things could happen.
Speaker 2 (01:21:30):
You know, things cannot help Jared Golf almost you know,
miss some of this game. We'll see if it madly
it ends up mattering as Washington's got to stop thrown
to the white jersey.
Speaker 3 (01:21:38):
It would help. It would help. Two interceptions, it would help.
Speaker 2 (01:21:41):
They had two interceptions to true quarters Brian Robinson. First
down run Kirby Joseph meets him. The only problem for
the Lions was eleven yards past the line of scrimmage.
We'll be first inten for the commanders here. Keep you
updated on this game. Just second half, literally just getting started.
Let's look ahead to the other side of the NFC
bracket here because Ian came in here. You know, Ian
(01:22:03):
likes to very much like a good producer should. He
likes to try to float his takes into the show.
Speaker 3 (01:22:09):
My guy man. You know, he was like, if I
don't see if Martin agreeds with it, then I can
really get it in there.
Speaker 2 (01:22:15):
I don't agree with this will quite yet, but go
ahead and set it up because this was his thing.
Speaker 5 (01:22:20):
I want you to set it up and ask VJ
the question you asked me initially.
Speaker 4 (01:22:25):
Okay, I'll pose it like this, if if the Rams
were to beat the Eagles, because we can all like
we could agree that the Eagles were one of the
better teams in the league this year.
Speaker 3 (01:22:33):
Yes, it still And when the Rams come out of
this and.
Speaker 4 (01:22:36):
Beat them, is it fair to say that Sean McVay
is the best coach in the NFC because I don't
think he's better than Andy Reid. I don't think that's fair.
Speaker 3 (01:22:46):
You know.
Speaker 5 (01:22:47):
I respect about you asking this. You've been on this
for about three weeks now. This isn't new for you.
You you could remember a few weeks ago you brought
up the way the season went, how they started winning four.
They were Andrew, they got him back, and here we
are again with McVeigh. Keep writing McVeigh off, right, but
here we are a game with McVeigh in the playoffs
with this Rams team. I'm not mad at that. I
would probably tell you. I would probably tell you yeah,
(01:23:10):
because you guys, Kevin O'Connell, O'Connell's not getting it. He's
not Dan would be his only comp. We know Martin's
not giving it the nick. We know that's not happening.
So I mean, hey, they go win this game, McVeigh. Listen,
God's got a ring, Okay, like he ain't no Johnny
come lately.
Speaker 3 (01:23:29):
But I don't mind the question.
Speaker 1 (01:23:30):
Man.
Speaker 5 (01:23:30):
My answer would be, yes, they win this game tomorrow
him and and how about this, Can I flip something
back to you? Sure they win this game. Washington wins
this game. Who's the better coach?
Speaker 3 (01:23:45):
Is it? Quinn arz Asama.
Speaker 5 (01:23:47):
So the reason why I'm giving McVeigh the nod here
and honestly why I give him the nod over the
rest of the conference right now, well, I think he
is the best coach in the NFC, NFL.
Speaker 2 (01:23:58):
I can't go there, NFC. I'll give it to him
as as the head guy because we have now seen.
Speaker 5 (01:24:07):
Him get to the playoffs and have success with multiple staffs,
right remember after the super teams, Well, multiple iterations of teams. Sure,
but I'm talking like we're saying Shanahan do the same,
like different iterations of teams.
Speaker 3 (01:24:23):
But the thing about it makes being good in the NFL.
Speaker 5 (01:24:26):
So prohibitive, are so difficult, is once you get good.
Speaker 3 (01:24:31):
Everybody else is gonna steal your brain, right.
Speaker 5 (01:24:34):
The Lions, Like, if the Lions can't get back here
again next year, regardless of how this game ends, And
the Lions.
Speaker 2 (01:24:42):
Did just force the three and out, which is big
if they're able to get back here next year with
a new defensive coordinator a new offensive coordinator, which who
I assume both the guys Aaron Glenn and Ben Johnson.
Speaker 3 (01:24:53):
Will be coaching head coaching teams next year? Really you did?
Speaker 2 (01:24:56):
They're both gone. The reporting is overwhelmed suggesting such really
like just the amount of interviews they had, the way
people have been there.
Speaker 3 (01:25:04):
I think Ben stays. I think Aaron goes. Ben stays.
Though either way, I think you'll lose one of them.
I think you lose both. He thinks you lose one.
Speaker 2 (01:25:11):
You gotta replace them, and you got to replace them
with guys who are gonna be able to do something
similar to this is Shanahan went on a five year
run of knocking it out the park hiring people, right McVeigh,
remember that that year lafloor for you, O'Connell, Zach Taylor.
They're like, oh, y'all want the next Sean McVay, the
(01:25:31):
next Sean McVay. Well, the next Sean McVeigh got plucked
a few times from that staff, and none of them.
Speaker 5 (01:25:36):
Have had really the success that actual McVeigh has had, right,
and he's hired new guys to fill those spots and
still be successful.
Speaker 3 (01:25:47):
That's big for me.
Speaker 5 (01:25:49):
I'm not mad at that at all. I agree with
you his staff, but not just that. And I say team.
I threw team in there because yeah, okay, Coop coop
in Matthew where gone, Donald's gone, Peters is gone, Ramsey's gone,
like Odell's gone, there's there are guys on the Todd
Gurley's gone, there's He hasn't just done with different staffs.
Speaker 3 (01:26:10):
Mcveigh's done it with different damn teams.
Speaker 5 (01:26:13):
Basically he's got a rookie this year in Verse they
made the Pro Bowl because he had to replace all
the talent he kept losing. Bobby Wagner showed up for
a cup of coffee in the Danish and got out
of there. So yeah, I put him, I put him
right there. But I was just now, you have to
look at Dan Quinn twelve and five. This year goes
on the road back to back weeks win's wild card
(01:26:35):
when's the division round takes up the number one seed.
I think the question then becomes, who's the better NFC
coach right now, McVeigh or dan Quinn. Mcvay's got the ring.
Dan Quinn got to the game, but mcvay's got the ring.
Speaker 3 (01:26:48):
I get it. Mcvay's been to the game twice. Yes,
mcvey's been to the game twice. Quinn's been. He went
as head coach of the Falcons.
Speaker 5 (01:26:57):
He just I'm trying to tight but I'm trying to
figure it out. Well, they blame and listen, they blame
Shanahan for that. They don't blame Quinn for it. Well,
they blame Shannahan for that. The win loss goes on
one guy's record. Absolutely, we know that, but we also
know there's variables that comes with that though, especially when
you talk about coaching, or we went and sit here
and trash coordinator is the way we do when they lose.
(01:27:19):
We don't sit here and go, well, dude, record goes
on the head. Go no, we go that coordinators gotta
get out of there. That guy's gotta there. There's no
way in hell, especially when you start to look at
some of the play.
Speaker 3 (01:27:29):
Call But McVeigh.
Speaker 5 (01:27:30):
I would give a nod, yes, but then I would
just have a bad conversation of it. Hey, but what
about him and Dan Quinn. Dad Quinn went won two
road games back to back. This guy's got a tenure here.
You walk the commanders this win. And I said if
but okay, I said, if they're up ten right now,
and it doesn't look good for Detroit, to be honest
with you, they're up.
Speaker 2 (01:27:50):
Ten, don't look good for Detroit. I bet you win
this game. There's no doubt in my mind.
Speaker 5 (01:27:54):
Okay, that's fine, But I'm saying if though I don't
know why, I don't know if you missed that part.
If he were to win, that would be we're talking
about McVeigh didn't win them tomorrow.
Speaker 3 (01:28:03):
Yet, and that's part of the topic right now. Mcvag
didn't win tomorrow yet, and that's part of the topic. Though.
Speaker 5 (01:28:09):
Yeah, I'm honestly, I think that McVeigh is gonna be
I think he's still the better coach right now.
Speaker 2 (01:28:14):
So we'll see how that all plays out in Philly.
Right now, going back to the game at hand, Lions
driving the ball down the field are not necessarily still
in their own territory. But it's second and ten. This
offense for the Lions, it's not been It's had a
two or three explosives, it has not been consistent. Honestly,
(01:28:34):
Neither one of these offenses, despite the score being what
it is, have.
Speaker 3 (01:28:37):
Really sustained drives.
Speaker 2 (01:28:39):
It's been a lot of big plays, a lot of
miss assignments, a lot of mistackles. That's why we have
a total score right now fifty two, which is damn
near close to the total over under pregame. They're gonna
go over that by a.
Speaker 5 (01:28:52):
Mile, but it has not. The Lions are a sustained
drive team.
Speaker 2 (01:28:56):
They need to come out and really lean on the
Commanders in the drive to get back in this thing.
Speaker 3 (01:29:02):
Yeahs, but not only that.
Speaker 5 (01:29:05):
It's when you think about even Montgomery coming back from injury,
right like, these guys are just getting back as far
as he's concerned. The defense is still the issue whether
they can stop him from score. But big plays are
part of football, and sometimes you're just a big play
offense if you guys. Now, I'm not comparing the Commanders
to the the greatest show on turf, but they're scoring drives.
(01:29:25):
I believe that year was like under three minutes, like
two and a half minutes. They were just big play.
They didn't have a lot of sustain Lauren drives. But
when you could throw the Marshall falk out of the
backfield and Tory Holt and Isaieraic Kim and Isaac Bruce
and and uh and uh Cromwell to tight end, when
you can get the ball to everybody and everybody has
the ability to go big and go score, you don't,
in my opinion, you don't need to, you know, be
able to sustain drives. But yeah, it's a it's a
(01:29:47):
big play game. But that's that's just the way it
goes and turnovers. There's been a pick six, there's been
a stripsack fumble. So we'll see, we'll see how the
stain plays off. Man, if anybody can substain some drives,
do you think it continues the big big play? Are
you think that somebody's gonna actually take a hold of
the game as far as Nope, We're gonna drive the
football and ram it down your throat.
Speaker 3 (01:30:05):
I think the Lions are gonna take control of the
game right here.
Speaker 2 (01:30:08):
But they just got the one. That's the second worst
call we've seen today.
Speaker 8 (01:30:13):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (01:30:13):
The first one being the unnecessary roughness where two Texans
tackle each other. Patrick Mahomes slides under safely uh. With
David Montgomery on a third and two is tackled in
the backfield by Dante Faller who gets them at the
shoulder pad. Initially from live angle, it looked like it
was a face mask to me, but you know what,
I'm paid to talk on the radio. I'm not paid
(01:30:34):
to throw flags. And it's a penalty that was not
even close to a face mask.
Speaker 5 (01:30:39):
It gives the Lions the first down. Yeah, no, not
even close to a face mask. But here's the thing.
They have to go back and be able to review
this stuff. You can't have games change. I'll never do it,
like at this point, I think they will. I think
it's gone.
Speaker 3 (01:30:50):
We had this. We already did it after the NFC
Championship game.
Speaker 5 (01:30:53):
When then when the Rams tackled the Saints walking into
the end zone and it would have been a safe
Super Bowl win.
Speaker 3 (01:31:00):
But I'm not salty about it or anything.
Speaker 2 (01:31:01):
But after that, they're not gonna go back and review
this type of call.
Speaker 3 (01:31:05):
I think they will.
Speaker 5 (01:31:06):
They, especially that it's turning game. You can't allow it listen,
can we get pass? Oh, you gotta let the human
element and all this other crime. No, get the call right,
Get the damn call right. And the call is you're
you're you're letting them sustainable drive.
Speaker 3 (01:31:25):
And those are the ones I think should be. If
it can, if it's gonna sustain.
Speaker 5 (01:31:27):
A drive and it's not a penalty, and everybody on
the scoreboard can see and everybody in the jubble.
Speaker 3 (01:31:32):
Trunk can see it, and the commentators can see it.
Speaker 5 (01:31:33):
You have to be able to radio down and say, listen, guys,
New York is calling pick that up. So you guys
missed it, no problem, but we're not gonna let this
game change on this and let this drive continue when
they should be punting right now. You have to be
able to add that and maybe some variable to it.
Speaker 3 (01:31:50):
If it's a.
Speaker 5 (01:31:50):
Third maybe only third down penalties can be reviewed by
New York. That can that can you know if the
if a team doesn't get the third down, then they
would have to punt, but a penalty that's not a penal.
He gives them a first down. They could implement stuff
like that and so and I think they will over the.
Speaker 2 (01:32:04):
Next three years because they don't they They can't undermine
the officials that much.
Speaker 3 (01:32:10):
I don't think it's undermining them. There, y gonna didn't
get wrong that. Everybody's like, why did you get this,
Why did you get this wrong? Why did you get
this wrong? Why'd you get that wrong?
Speaker 2 (01:32:19):
It's just it's the NFL is not going to address
the officiating. So honestly, the way I look at it now,
at this point, when I'm handicapping games, I'm thinking, who's
gonna win, who's not gonna win? I look at what
do these reps call Carl Sheffer's calls false stortsman than
any any official in in in football.
Speaker 3 (01:32:36):
There's defensive holding calls that happened.
Speaker 2 (01:32:38):
There's guys that miscalls factor that end, Guys who called
more penalties. You know what I'm saying, probably look at overs,
guys who call less, look at unders.
Speaker 3 (01:32:47):
You know.
Speaker 2 (01:32:47):
That's the type of way I look at it. Coming
up next, though, Jerry Jones famously called Dion Sanders. Now
that conversation that's been news that apparently is just groundbreaking.
Everybody's interested in it, But there's not the only opening
spot in the NFL is Dallas. The best job available,
which one will be filled. First, we take a ride
(01:33:09):
on the NFL coaching Carosel.
Speaker 3 (01:33:10):
Coming up next Martin Wis, VJ. Husky, Fox Sports Football Saturday.
Speaker 2 (01:33:15):
Comeing to you live at the Tirack dot Com Studios
is Martin Wis and VJ.
Speaker 3 (01:33:18):
Husky.
Speaker 2 (01:33:19):
You can join us on Twitter and tweet the show.
I'm at Martin Wise. Vj's at the Big Vanilla Funny.
Speaker 3 (01:33:27):
We'll get to.
Speaker 2 (01:33:27):
Your tweets in just a moment here as I loaded
them up. Yeah, the Windham Stan. I enjoy listening to
an interacting with everybody here. You know what, we like
it too, buddy, we like it too. Thanks for listening
right now, Steve de Sego. Have everything going on in
the Lions and Commander's game. As Brian Branch gets his
ankle looked at number six was walking off the field.
(01:33:51):
Jaydon Daniels just ran for a first down. You've got
twelve rushers for forty three yards. As one of the
Lions defenders is also being looked at here. Just try
it out, see if it works. Tried it out there,
it's not. It's going in and out. So maybe move
to a different microphone because you're having trouble there. So
(01:34:13):
we'll talk about the NFL head coaching carousel. Excuse me, Yes,
I tried to tell them move to your microphone's not working,
so you should move to a different microphone.
Speaker 3 (01:34:22):
All right, my boy?
Speaker 2 (01:34:23):
All right, No, the head coaching carrousel is in full swing.
Dallas Cowboys are the only job you've heard any real
news about. That's because Jerry is the newsmaking type. I
personally think that news is a bunch of malarkey. I
don't think there's any chance that Dion Sanders is the
head coach of the Dallas Cowboys going forward.
Speaker 3 (01:34:42):
But we do have several jobs opening.
Speaker 2 (01:34:43):
The Chicago Bears, the Jacksonville Jaguars, New Orleans Saints are
open to so VJ. The question I have for you
was which one of these jobs do you think is
the best job?
Speaker 5 (01:34:56):
All Right, you're not gonna like this answer because I
think they all suck. I think all these jobs are
back jobs, to be honest with you. The best job, though,
in my opinion, is Jacksonville. Jacksonville's the best job for
numerous reasons. Number One, the division can be had, all right,
you can come back up in that division. Texans won
it this year ten and seven. And won it last
year ten and seven. So the best team in that
division last two year has been ten and seven. All Right,
(01:35:17):
you have a quarterback. Regardless of how you and I
both feel about Trevor, a lot of people think you
just got to get Peterson away from him and somebody
else could come in and work some magic with this kid,
because that's gonna be That's gonna be the higher the
Hire's gonna be. Can you work with Trevor Lawrence. That's
gonna be the sticking point for the hire. You have
a running back, got a couple of receivers. Now, the
defense was twenty eighth this year. I don't think that
(01:35:38):
that's that defense. We saw it on the field this year.
I think that defense is a lot better showed the
last two years. I think maybe this is one of
those years where you have.
Speaker 3 (01:35:45):
A lot of mailing in. Everybody.
Speaker 5 (01:35:46):
Yeah, exactly, you got a lot of mailing in this year.
Man so Jack Snow, State tax, great weather, great golf.
Sean Con has shown he'll spend money. He hasn't been
a tiwad. His man has tried to open network, try
to run leagues around the world. Like he'll spend bred.
So it's not cheap. To me, that's the best job
(01:36:07):
to go into. It's it's low maintenance, man. It's not
a lot there that you have to You got some
great pieces and like you do one thing you need
that everybody needs. You have what some people think is
a generational upper echelon the league quarterback. So to me,
the Jacksonville Jaguars job is the best job available. The
only thing is it's just once again like guys about dells.
Speaker 3 (01:36:29):
Who do you hire?
Speaker 8 (01:36:30):
Though?
Speaker 5 (01:36:30):
I don't even see like juicy. Like every year Mark
we got like a juicy candidate. Who's the who's the
juicy candidate this year?
Speaker 3 (01:36:36):
Is it really coach prime?
Speaker 2 (01:36:37):
But I just don't think it not I think the
I mean, most people are tagging Ben Johnson as the
second coming of.
Speaker 3 (01:36:44):
Head coaching candidates.
Speaker 2 (01:36:45):
He's the favorite on everybody's list and apparently can do
no wrong. To the point I'm almost convinced he's gonna
be terrible because so many people seem to be convinced
that he's gonna be great.
Speaker 3 (01:36:54):
Don't do what you did with Harball.
Speaker 5 (01:36:55):
Don't do that flip it with this one and the
thing you catched it you thought Harbor would be An.
Speaker 3 (01:37:00):
I remember.
Speaker 5 (01:37:02):
Abjective how you said it, word failure. Abject abjective failure
is what you said about Harball. But because he was
so hot and everybody want to I think Ben can
be a good coach. I just don't think he's leaving
because if he was going to leave you the left,
but he said he wanted to come back and he
wanted to still work with that, why would you do
that and then one year leave?
Speaker 3 (01:37:20):
Maybe he leaves next year. I just don't think Ben's out.
Speaker 5 (01:37:23):
I think if Aaron doesn't leave now, he's not gonna
get another opportunity. No, But the thing with Ben Johnson,
this whole reporting is kind of odd, honestly in my opinion,
Like the idea that Ben Johnson is telling teams not
to reach out to him to get an interview because
he doesn't want to turn down like what He's just
(01:37:43):
like kind of like, you know, hey, you know, I
guess when you have all the left everybody wants you,
I guess you could start to do things like that.
Speaker 3 (01:37:51):
But it's something that to me is just what's your
beef with hold On? Just say that to me again.
Speaker 5 (01:37:55):
He's telling people not to reach out because he doesn't
want to turn out why what, why the season's going,
why they're still playing?
Speaker 2 (01:38:01):
Like, for example, Aaron Glenn, the Patriots requested to interview
Aaron Glenn, right, he did not. Aaron Glenn said, I
don't want to interview for you.
Speaker 3 (01:38:11):
I wouldn't either, but right now, I mean.
Speaker 5 (01:38:12):
He knew Rabel's job was on the way it was
gonna be a sham, right, So he's like, I'm not
about to waste my time preparing for this.
Speaker 2 (01:38:19):
So I understand that situation. But Ben Johnson is telling
teams that he doesn't think he like. Ben Johnson's camp
is telling teams, you know, hey, look I don't I
don't want to turn down your interview request publicly, so
it don't even ask me.
Speaker 5 (01:38:33):
Okay, wow, Well to my point, I don't think he's gone.
I think Ben Johnson is back. I definitely think Ben jobs.
But here's the thing too, if you're Ben Johnson, would
you just take a job to take a job Martin.
Speaker 3 (01:38:46):
I'm starting to feel.
Speaker 5 (01:38:47):
Like we're in a new era of coaching NFL hiring
and coaching NFL firing. We saw two guys fired this
year after one year, and I don't know if you
could check that the Great deceives the sacred somebody can.
Has there ever been a year where two first year
coaches were fired in the NFL in the same season.
(01:39:07):
That's preposterous. That's I don't care if you brought in Rabel,
like you listen, if you want, if Rabel, you could
have had them.
Speaker 3 (01:39:15):
You know what I'm saying.
Speaker 5 (01:39:16):
You decided to hire Draw Mail, you decided to go
another way. You could have had Rabel if that's what
you really wanted. One year of him being out of coaching,
and you haven't one year.
Speaker 3 (01:39:26):
With this guy. Couldn't.
Speaker 5 (01:39:27):
There's no way, nothing could have told you any different.
Would you think that you were gonna be this year?
Speaker 3 (01:39:33):
You know?
Speaker 5 (01:39:33):
So even to talk of well they got a lot
in the copboard for him, you had a lot.
Speaker 3 (01:39:37):
You told me that last offseason.
Speaker 5 (01:39:38):
When when Mail got the job, that they had a
lot in the cover, it's still all the same stuff
that's in the cupboard. You're gonna pick in the top three,
you picked in the top three last year.
Speaker 3 (01:39:46):
It's the same stuff.
Speaker 5 (01:39:47):
So I just I just feel like some of these coaches,
if I'm Ben Johnson, why would you even run the
risk of going to one of these teams and within
a year or two, dude, you're fired. When you're sitting here,
nice and comfy and juicy in Detroit with a number
one seeded team, somewhere you fit. You could kind of
hide under Dan Campbell's image. You don't have to be
(01:40:09):
a front face or a front boy. You got big
personalities on this team. Division's competitive as hell, but you
just wanted two years in a row. So you're not
tripping over that. I mean, if I'm Ben, I sit tight.
If I'm if I'm Aaron, I might try to get
out of there and get one while I can, because
as we've seen, you know recently, you know, brothers getting
let go after one year, so you might as well
go get one.
Speaker 3 (01:40:30):
It happened not too long ago what you got. Urban
Meyers was.
Speaker 5 (01:40:33):
Fired in Jackson, Okay, and David Cully Does that even
count though it counts because.
Speaker 4 (01:40:40):
I actually there's one here too with Nathaniel Hackett and
Lovey Smith, both in the same year, were fired after
their first years. Yeah, and well Hackett was like a
few games in.
Speaker 3 (01:40:50):
Right, right right, where was Lovey that year?
Speaker 5 (01:40:53):
Houston, who replaced David Cully who was fired after it
was fired.
Speaker 3 (01:40:57):
So he did him dirty though, Yeah, yeah, yeah, all right,
all right, they did both of them dirty.
Speaker 2 (01:41:02):
And to me, Smith won the last game he coached
in Houston, which got them second, got them.
Speaker 3 (01:41:09):
To the Bright Show. Yeah, and got fired. I just yeah,
I say this.
Speaker 2 (01:41:13):
Second year in a row, Blackka coach got fired after
winning the game. That cost the team that caught because
number one overall pick and I know we got to say,
you're just real fast. I'm driving into the Rams game.
Speaker 5 (01:41:23):
I'm listening to uh the Red Zone Radio with with
Monty and Steve and Bo. Bo made a joke because
they were up like fourteen nothing at that point, Bogos.
If they win this game, just expect the crazy revolt
from the Patriot fans in the haha, right, everybody in
the studio laugh. I get to the game, I set up,
I go check the scores, and then I see he's fired.
Speaker 3 (01:41:43):
I text Bow, I.
Speaker 5 (01:41:43):
Said, well, the front office reacted a whole lot faster
than the fans did as far as the revolt. Okay,
they fired that man right after the game was over.
Speaker 2 (01:41:51):
Well, I mean the reality is they had plans to
do it well before then. I think that ultimately that's
what the answer between Drawd Mayo and Antonio.
Speaker 3 (01:42:00):
We're very preable. Last year he was available that just.
Speaker 2 (01:42:04):
Maybe he wanted some time. I don't have the answer.
I don't have the answer, but I do know this. J. D.
Pakel has all the answers for college football. Will talk
to him and just a minute the.
Speaker 5 (01:42:11):
First Steve Desager on everything else trending in the world
of sports.
Speaker 3 (01:42:16):
Steve, Hello, gentlemen.
Speaker 9 (01:42:17):
We've got the game in a pause right now, people
catching their breath late third quarter at Detroit. Washington's lead
thirty one twenty eight over the Lions, and you were asking.
I found a list of believe it or not. Since
the merger with the AFL nineteen seventy there have been
thirty four one and done head coaches, including those you
mentioned in the same year. Also on the list, amazingly
(01:42:39):
would be nineteen seventy six Lou Holtz Jets and Monte
Clark forty.
Speaker 3 (01:42:45):
Nine ers, and there are others.
Speaker 9 (01:42:47):
As for this game, Washington and Detroit each had over
three hundred yards of offense in the first half. Jadeen
Daniels two hundred and fifty yards passing right now and
two touchdowns Jamiir Gibbs of Detroit thirteen Harry's one hundred
three yards rushing and two scores. And we mentioned earlier
that the Lions yes earned the NFC's number one seed.
(01:43:09):
They're facing a Washington run defense that was among the
worst in the league. It allowed almost one hundred forty
yards rushing per game on average. They've allowed almost one
hundred and ninety total yards on the ground so far
in this one, and it's late third quarter, Washington leading
thirty one twenty eight. Diamy Brown six catches ninety eight
(01:43:30):
yards for Washington. Jared Goff committed three turnovers in the
first half. Right now, Washington's offense is in the red
zone again, down to the thirteen of the Detroit Lions,
already up by three in this game. Will update you
again in a minute, but first off, there was another
divisional playoff today at Kansas City. The Chiefs eliminated Houston
(01:43:51):
twenty three to fourteen. Travis Kelcey seven receptions, one hundred
and seventeen yards in a touchdown. The Chiefs defense had
eight sacks, three by George car Loftis temperature was about
twenty degrees for that game. There are two divisional playoffs
Tomorrow snow in the forecast at Philadelphia as the Eagles
host the Rams Sunday at three pm Eastern, and then
(01:44:12):
it's Baltimore at Buffalo six thirty pm Eastern. The temperature
in Buffalo due to be under twenty degrees for that game.
The Falcons due defensive coordinators Jeff Olbrook, who is the
Jets interim head coach. Texas Longhorns coach Steve Sarkejian got
an extension through twenty thirty one. He had been contacted
by NFL teams two or three, reportedly to the NBA.
(01:44:32):
Today a Phoenix win at Detroit one twenty five, one
twenty one. Right now at Golden State, about six minutes
to go, the Warriors are leading the Wizards one oh
two to one hundred, despite thirty three points from Washington's
Jordan Poole. The Cavaliers, with a record of thirty four
and six, lead mid third quarter at Minnesota seventy three
seventy two. Donovan Mitchell with twenty seven points. Atlanta in
(01:44:55):
overtime beat Boston, Indiana sent Philadelphia to a fifth straight loss.
In college basketball, Number one, Auburn was a seventy to
sixty eight winner at number twenty three Georgia Santa Clara
Is leading at number sixteen Gonzaga eighty two seventy two
with about seven minutes left in the game. Alabama won
at Kentucky. West Virginia upset number two Iowa State Vanderbilt
(01:45:17):
edge number six Tennessee and Xavier won at number seven
Marquette updating the NFL end of three quarters, Washington down
to the Detroit five yard line, a third and two
coming up. Commanders leading thirty one twenty eight over the
top seeds in the NFC. The Detroit Lions back to.
Speaker 2 (01:45:36):
You, thanks Steve Jaydon Daniels fake they handoff on fourth down,
Terry On Arnold got caught with his eyes inside for
Commanders get the first down. Now they have another third
down decision coming up in just a moment. But right now,
we got the easiest decision I'm gonna make all day.
Let's go ahead and.
Speaker 5 (01:45:54):
Welcome our next guests, Bishop Magic, wah Donal College Football Oil,
j Deep Akel on three College Football Insider.
Speaker 2 (01:46:03):
You can check out his show on YouTube, The Hard Count.
But first a little preview of what you find there
on YouTube.
Speaker 3 (01:46:08):
J d I heard you. I saw you talking to
Jeremiah Smith.
Speaker 5 (01:46:11):
How impressed was he that you and Justin Jefferson had
the same recruiting grade coming out of high school?
Speaker 8 (01:46:18):
Man, he was blown away, Like, I mean, you know,
this is one of those things that you know, I mean,
it's he's a true freshman, right, and he's still kind
of figuring out, you know, the college football media space.
So I tried to, you know, make him feel comfortable,
but he was blown away, for sure, understandably.
Speaker 5 (01:46:34):
So so you're down there on site, j D. Give
us the sites, the sounds, how you feel and get
your initial feelings of just the environment leading up to
the game.
Speaker 8 (01:46:44):
So I think the first the first word, which is
cliche but I'm gonna use anyway. I mean, it's it's electric, man, Like,
both fan bases have traveled to enormous brands, which just
kind of adds to the allure of this twelve team
playoff finale. One thing I was super curious to get
the gat age four was how would Notre Dame be
during their media session? I mean media days. Right, We've
(01:47:05):
talked about this game for over a week and we're
kind of taking a lot from a little but the
last two media days that I've been at from both
TCU and Washington, there was like a little bit maybe
a tight feeling from the underdog, a little bit of
more reserve. Hey, we're not one hundred percent sure of ourselves.
There was none of that from Notre Dame. Like they
seemed loose, They seemed comfortable in their own skin. They
(01:47:27):
were they were choking around like. It was a very
very high energy, good energy environment from the Irish. I mean,
Ohio is that you kind of could expect, but they
would be being a very very business like, very professional.
You know, everyone's saying the right things. But uh no, man,
it was Again if we're if we're judging off the
media day, I think there's a good bit of confidence
to be had Notre Dame. Uh they're not just going
(01:47:49):
to roll in there and you know, get steamrolled by
this eight and a half point margin that Vega has
given them.
Speaker 3 (01:47:55):
My man, J D.
Speaker 5 (01:47:56):
Bakelly, they call you Bishop Donwin. I like college football
Billy Hoyle. Can we roll with that one?
Speaker 3 (01:48:02):
Get you right?
Speaker 1 (01:48:02):
See?
Speaker 3 (01:48:02):
I knew you would like that one be because Billy
Oil was a ball.
Speaker 5 (01:48:05):
He wasn't little scrub Listen, man, let's get right into
this game. Simple question for you, nothing long winded today.
Who is the better coach in this game? Who's going
to coach their team?
Speaker 8 (01:48:13):
The victory marks Truman is a better coach. Marcus Freeman.
I think has done more with less. Marcus Freeman. I
think the trajectory at Notre Dame from where he got
it to where they're going to be in the next
few years. The delta there, like the overall value to me,
is leading in his favor. Ryan Day. For all of
his faults from the Michigan loss, which I know we've
(01:48:36):
talked about a fair amount of the show, he still
I think deserves some credit for putting it together. I
know that it's twenty million dollars roster, and you know
they got a great staff, and they got all these guys,
you know, all these guys that they've kept in a
couple of portal pieces. I've been really impressed with how
he has continued to evolve in the face of a
(01:48:57):
lot of you know, fair criticism, criticism or less. So
I think Ohio State wins because I think they're further
along than where Notre Dame is right now. But I
want to make this I want to make this very clear.
I don't think it's a thing where Notre Dame has
like they're one good year and you know, good for them,
good story. They're going to be in this game in
the future as well. But to me, it's a talent
(01:49:18):
of thing. I think the injuries for Notre Dame make
me nervous and I just think there's more waste than
win this football game.
Speaker 3 (01:49:25):
JD. He just asked you, j D.
Speaker 2 (01:49:27):
Pakel with us from on three on site at the
college football National Championship Game.
Speaker 3 (01:49:32):
Played on Monday night.
Speaker 2 (01:49:33):
Now, what's one of these coaches or I've said it
like this over one and a half, take the over
under and tell me why coaches who come back and
coach this team next year, well market for moving back
in Notre Dame, Will Ryan Davey back at Ohio State.
Speaker 8 (01:49:50):
I'll take the over on both. I mean, even if
Ryan Day were to lose, I've been saying for a
long time that, you know, if they were to get balanced,
you know, anytime before the national title game, and I
think it would have been a conversation. But I think
Marcus Freeman fits Notre Dame and he gets Notre Dame.
I think he embraces Notre Dame, and I have a
really difficult time seeing Ohio State win the National Championship
(01:50:12):
and Ryan Day just right off into the sunset. I
think there probably is some sense for him of I
do want to, you know, get this right against Michigan,
and now I kind of think I'm just now finding
my stride. Would be my expectation for him coming off
of a spot where they win the National Championship. But
I think the Notre Dame side is so much more
intriguing in this whole discussion with Marcus Freeman, because how
(01:50:34):
many times all these last few years have we seen
the underdog quote unquote show up in this spot and
then Taylor Navore takes the job at Bama or you
know that the OC for TC from Garrett Riley, he
leaves after the National Championship game. Like Marcus Freeman's not
gonna leave for another job. He's gonna have a chance
to like build upon what he's built the foundation for
(01:50:56):
already in South Bed, which is I think enormously excited.
I guess I'm a fighting Irish fan.
Speaker 5 (01:51:01):
Listen, man, I love you, brother, and you you earned
a lot of respect from me, But you just lost
it all the way Marlin lost Nemo by picking Ohio
State to win this game.
Speaker 3 (01:51:09):
Man, what is wrong with you?
Speaker 8 (01:51:10):
Man?
Speaker 3 (01:51:10):
You don't cut on a Michigan show and pick Ohio State.
Let me tell you something. Last question between me and
you j D has.
Speaker 5 (01:51:18):
Been all year long and Monday and fight with someone's
gonna get the last laugh. Someone's gonna get the last say.
I've been telling you that, Will Howard, it's not that guy.
And he's going to give the game away against Oregon
tweet he did. He was gonna give the game away
against Michigan twitt he did. And I haven't said that
in none of these playoff games. Will Howard on Monday night,
(01:51:40):
when it is on the table, all the chips are
pushed in, he's gonna give this game away?
Speaker 3 (01:51:45):
Change my mind?
Speaker 5 (01:51:46):
And why you're gonna be able to come on next
Saturday and say, v you had me twice, but I
had the last laugh.
Speaker 8 (01:51:52):
Yeah. Man, if it goes south, I may get a
new number and it may may not get through to me. Man,
It's just funny how that, how that tends to work.
The thing that I'm nervous about, man, is as good
as Notre Dame is and how good they've been in
man coverage all year. I don't think you can just
play man coverage against Ohio State, at least not for
four quarters. Like one of my like boulder thoughts on
(01:52:13):
this game is, I think it's potentially even tie to halftime,
but like, if you're gonna keep giving me the same
pitch as a as an offensive coordinator and Chip Kelly
and all those weapons that Ohio State has, like, to me,
it's just one of those things where at some point
the glue is not going to stick the way it
has to stick. And the tough part too with man coverage,
Like and y'all know this, like it doesn't need to
(01:52:35):
be a thing where you know they win every single snap.
Like if just two snaps don't go, Notre Dame is
way and Jeremiah Smith's able to get downfield on him,
Like that's gonna kind of have a massive impact on
the trajectory of this game. Because as good as Notre
Dame hasn't been, like, they're not this speed boat that's
able to come back from a fourteen point deficit if
(01:52:57):
they find themselves in that spot. So I think Notre
Day we've all talked about the style of game they
could win, and making it ugly and messing all those things.
But I really get nervous about like the bow and
arrow that Ohio State has with the passing game downsfield,
and how how reliable that man coverage is going to
be against you know, the best receiver in college football
and the best arguably the best oc in college football.
(01:53:18):
And ship Kelly.
Speaker 5 (01:53:19):
I'm telling you that, man, you are gonna hate me
next Saturday. I'm gonna let you. I'm letting you know
right now. I don't want no feelings either, brother Lee
or feelings at the door man. And you know I
love you, man. But yeah, we'll see by this time
next week.
Speaker 3 (01:53:31):
We'll see if j D.
Speaker 2 (01:53:32):
Paquel is right in the Ohio day Buck guys win
the national championship. We'll have that segment coming up just
a minute, j D. Thanks for joining us, my friend.
Enjoy it down there, have have fun, man.
Speaker 8 (01:53:43):
Proud of you, absolutely, man.
Speaker 5 (01:53:44):
I appreciate How have a ball man get you some
chicken and waffles from Gladys Knight Restaurant while you down
there be.
Speaker 3 (01:53:50):
And I hot dolphin varsities. Done deal, yes, sir?
Speaker 4 (01:53:54):
All right?
Speaker 3 (01:53:54):

Speaker 2 (01:54:11):
Goodbye to a legend and we tell you what's gonna
happen by this time and next week. Coming up next
Martin White VJ Huskying on Foxwood Football Saturday.
Speaker 5 (01:54:21):
Martin VJ coming to you lot at the Tireck dot
Com Studios.
Speaker 3 (01:54:26):
The Lions just did the inexplicable running off trick play.
Speaker 2 (01:54:31):
Jared Goff handed to Dave of Montgomery, who then tossed
it back to Jameson Williams, who threw the ball in
the triple coverage to Jamior Gibbs. It's the type of
thing we saw from Detroit all season. But this is
the one thing I just need to point out to
the national freaking media because this is a little preview
by this time next week, because this hasn't happened yet,
but it's definitely.
Speaker 3 (01:54:47):
Happening next week.
Speaker 5 (01:54:48):
Next week, We're gonna hear about how Dan Campbell's too reckless,
and how Ben Johnson is still gonna be the head
guy everywhere, the head guy in all these coaching searches.
When Ben Johnson's calling the plays. He called that one
on first and ten. Let's go ahead and get to
the actual segment when you get his shot, Mary, Like
(01:55:08):
I said, win or lose, Ben Johnson is still gonna
be talked about as if he has never ever single
made a mistake, like he walks on water. And I
said this earlier today, Eric Glenn and Ben Johnson on
the Hottest Girls in School and promised next week. Right,
that's the way everybody's acting it out. Ben Johnson might
not look Ben Johnson called that play, all right, that
(01:55:30):
may cough the Lions their season.
Speaker 3 (01:55:32):
Let's keep that in mind, America.
Speaker 5 (01:55:33):
Everybody's gonna go Dan Campbell, he gambled too much that
I finally bet them it's first and ten.
Speaker 3 (01:55:38):
It's not fourth down. It's just supposed to call a
regular play. Call there. I don't think Dan said, hey,
dial up the trick play here. Yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:55:46):
By this time next week, the Cleveland Cavaliers will lengthen
their lead in the East, it's a six games. By
this time next week, it will be to seven and
a half or eight games and will be solidifying them
as the sure fire number one seed going into this
latter part of the season into the playoffs.
Speaker 2 (01:56:02):
By this time next week, people will realize that it's
out of the West. Right now, it's Oklahoma City and
nobody like there's nobody who seems even close to what
Oklahoma City's got.
Speaker 3 (01:56:13):
Going on your rockets. Yeah, Like I said, there's nobody
that seems close.
Speaker 5 (01:56:18):
Everybody else is clive for second right now on the
Western Conference, Oklahoma City and SGA should be the MVP
if things continue as they are. By this time next week,
the Jags will be the next NFL team with a
head coach, and I think it's gonna be a guy
that we are not even talking and mentioning right now.
They shift through the weeds and find some new young
wonder kid offensively or defensively, preferably offensively to bring in and.
Speaker 3 (01:56:41):
Work with one Trevor Lawrence.
Speaker 2 (01:56:46):
I think I'm gonna go with one of the ones
that JD has been pushing for a while. By this
time next week, Ryan Day will no longer be employed
by a house the Losers game, he walks away and.
Speaker 5 (01:56:56):
Just says, I don't have to deal with this. I
can go find me a better job somewhere else where.
Speaker 3 (01:56:59):
I don't have where.
Speaker 5 (01:57:00):
I don't win fifty fifty something games, six games in
four years, and you know everybody's gonna be fine with this.
I got a really good one. Check this one out, Ian,
you might find some interest in this one. By this
time next week, one of three teams will be rumored
to start making moves for the number one overall pick,
even though Tennessee does hold it won Dallas Cowboys, won
(01:57:22):
Vegas Raiders, and won New York bum Ass Jets. By
this time next week, we will have heard rumors that
link Bill Belichick to the Dallas Cowboys.
Speaker 3 (01:57:32):
It won't happen, but we're here.
Speaker 2 (01:57:34):
Rumors that think about it, that Jerry was considering reaching
out to the North Carolina head coach.
Speaker 5 (01:57:39):
By the time next week, I know he signed a
contract extension today. I don't give a damn. I believe
Steve Sarkezha's name will start to pop up in NFL
coaching circles. They'll pay whatever taget's gonna be. Texas k
new this was possible. That's why they were so quick
to get Dallas. Yeah, to get an extension done one
(01:58:00):
for him because if short, there's some way to rework
that guaranteed money that if he does walk, no problem.
Speaker 3 (01:58:05):
Here you go. This is what we owed you was better,
Well we was gonna owe you. But you can go now.
Speaker 5 (01:58:09):
Coach on to the NFL. You got us to the
final four back to back years. We ain't been there
since Mac Brown. Thank you, and we'll move on.
Speaker 2 (01:58:15):
By this time next week, it will be universally accepted
that Jaydon Daniels had the best rookie season we have
seen of a quarterback in the NFL. Uh win or
lose this game, quite honestly, because right now he's knocking
on the door of that and Austin Eckler's knocking on
the door of the end zone.
Speaker 3 (01:58:31):
I'm sorry, this is Jeremy McNichols. I don't know.
Speaker 2 (01:58:33):
I'm not sure if he got it in our ball
across the plane, but up yet, refuging touchdown, and that's
gonna be a sixteen point lead for the Commanders in Detroit,
and it.
Speaker 5 (01:58:41):
Might be the nail in the proverbial coffee by this
team next week ma be loved Detroit Pistons that I
told you guys, we'll win thirty eight or more games,
will be out of the play and they sit at
seed number seven right now, only a game and a
half out of being out.
Speaker 3 (01:58:56):
Of the playing motor k Connieham is legit, Door is legit,
Tobias is the vet.
Speaker 5 (01:59:03):
They just need one more guy and another blue collar
guy in Trajan Langdon and crew turning this thing around
for Motown.
Speaker 2 (01:59:10):
Gonna be a big conversation about quarterback contracts this offseason.
Let's all remember that in less the Lions somehow advanced,
that would mean the top five highest paid by average
a new value quarterbacks did not win a single playoff game.
Speaker 5 (01:59:21):
That is insane, and they are in dire trouble. Seven
point thirty one extra point goes through. If it does,
that's forty five twenty eight, So.
Speaker 2 (01:59:30):
Rap, God bless everybody. Erin Tourris Jason Martin up next.
I know there's no college football today, but that's still
the best recap show in America.
Speaker 3 (01:59:38):
Seventeen point lead for the Commanders
