should be well. First of all, Happy Easter to you, Bucky.
What's going on, my man? Happy Easter to you. Yes, holiday,
This is a big Sunday. We got a lot of
things going on. The final round of the Masters is underway.
We're about an hour and a half away from the leaders.
The final pairing of Brooks, Keepka and John rom teeing off,
(00:45):
so they are going to get this final round in
today after finishing off the third round. This is also
the final day of the regular season in the NBA,
all thirty teams in action, fifteen games. Only A couple
of playoff implicacations were pretty well set right now, and
the teams are going to be in the play in
as opposed to who is not going to be in
(01:07):
the play in and been in the playoffs, and who's
on their way out. So a very busy day today,
you know, Bucky. The big story this morning was Tiger
Woods deciding not to get back out there on the
golf course. You and I were talking about this yesterday
after watching him trying to continue on in that third round,
after historically tying the record most consecutive cuts made at
(01:28):
the Masters, and you and I were on the same
page watching him, saying, I really don't want to see this.
I don't want to see this guy go through all
this pain. He doesn't owe anybody anything. He made history
by tying the record for the most consecutive cuts. So
I was almost relieved this morning I found out that
he decided, no, I'm gonna have to withdraw. Yeah, it
(01:51):
was one of those things. It was tough to watch.
And we never want to see Superman faces Kryptonite, and
we never want to see a downtrodden hero. You know.
It's one of those things when you look at Tiger Woods,
and even though we talked about yesterday, like having the
memories of how dominant he was when he was at
(02:13):
his best and watching him as a young prodigy, kind
of live up and exceed well, I mean live up
to expectations when he entered golf world and now to
see him and to see him a shell of himself.
No one wants to have those lasting images of their heroes. No,
it really is difficult. And by the way, I heard
(02:34):
Dan Buyer, who courses our resident golf expert here at
Fox Sports Radio. He has been in many majors over
the years, talk about the fact that the US Open
coming up in a couple of months is going to
be here where we are in the Los Angeles area.
It's going to be at the Los Angeles Country Club.
Something that is incredible story that we get the US
(02:56):
Open here in the LA area. But it's obviously home
for Tiger, and he may decide because he has said
he would like to play all the majors every year,
but if he's not fully recovered for next month in
the PGA Championship, I heard Dan talk about the real
possibility that he may decide. You know what, maybe I'm
(03:16):
going to skip that PGA to try to get as
one hundred percent healthy as I possibly can to participate
in the US Open in hunt my neck of the
woods in Los Angeles, So that might be the next
time we actually see Tiger Woods on the course, but
again ceremonial. The fact that he's there, I mean, how
much does that really matter? Mentioned yesterday, you know Arnold Palmer,
(03:39):
who was such a great ambassador for the game of golf.
He missed the cut the last twenty one times he
played the Masters, and no one cared because he would
show up, play a couple of rounds of golf, wave
to the crowd. Everybody wanted to see the guy. I
just don't know if Tiger is that kind of guy
where he because he always has talked about I don't
want to be out there unless I leave I can
(04:00):
actually win a golf tournament. And it's hard. You know,
it's almost like watching Michael. Would Michael Jordan ever be
able to be a role player at the very end
of his career, just to kind of hang on. You
can see where Tiger, given his dominance and how much
(04:20):
he meant to the sport, you can see he wouldn't
want to be that. He wouldn't want to be a mascot.
He wouldn't want to be a guy that everyone just
kind of fawns over because it's tiger, but you don't
get a chance to see him. The competitor in him
won't allow him to be that guy, so he would
have to walk away before he would kind of really
get himself to that. So we get ready for this
(04:41):
final round of the Masters. And they did finish the
third round earlier this morning. They will get this thing
finished today, Brooks, cap Gay and John Ron began the
day two shots apart going into the third round, which
actually was yesterday had started and that's exactly where they
are as they will tee off coming up, they said,
a little bit about an hour and a half from now.
(05:03):
Kepka at eleven under part. John Rama is at nine
under part Victor Hovlin. By the way, these are the
three guys that all shot sixty five in the first
round and they are still the top three golfers. Hovelin
at a stretch of five straight birdies in the third
round to get himself within one shot of Ram, so
he's at eight. And then Dan Bayer, by the way,
(05:24):
told me last week. I asked him who is going
to be in the lead in the Masters when I
see you a week from now, and he said, Patrick Cantley,
Well it wasn't far off. Can't Ley is in a
soule fourth place right now at minus six, So as
soon as the golf gets started, we are definitely going
to be all over that. All right. So we got
NBA final day of the regular season here, Bucky, and
(05:47):
we got fifteen games today, all thirty teams in action.
You know, we've been talking so much about the Lakers,
you know, and trying to sneak into this thing. But
you know, it's interesting when you think about this NBA
season that the team with the best record in the
NBA this year is a team that won the NBA
championship two years ago, and that is the Milwaukee Bucks.
(06:11):
And well they're flying under the radar, are they. I mean,
we've been hearing about the Celtics and beat with the Sixers. Obviously,
you know, Denver is the top of the West, but
no one seems to be talking about the team that
actually ended this season with the best record. What do
you think get this Bucks team? Well? I think the
Bucks are outstanding with Yannis and Chris Middleton and Drew
(06:36):
Holliday and those guys. But the reason they don't necessarily
like resonate or kind of garner Marquis status is because
they just don't play a style like their Their star
players are good guys, but there's nothing about them that
that pops like. They're not controversial. There's no reason to
love or hate Jannis. You don't love or hate the
(06:59):
Milwaukee Bucks because they're small market. They kind of tucked
away in the middle of nowhere, and so you don't
necessarily have an opinion about them, whereas if it's the Lakers,
if it's a big market team like the Knicks, it's
easy to have emotions about those teams based on what
your biases are about certain parts of the country and
those things. The Bucks they just don't hit you like that,
(07:22):
and so because of that, they kind of like, Yeah,
I've also been very curious. You know, when you used
to have teams, you know, give guys either complete games
off down the stretch or you know, time off down
the stretch, that was because you were getting ready for
that first round of the playoffs, but because of the
(07:44):
playing around, if you're not in the playing around, you
already have a week off. I mentioned this because the
Denver Nuggets have basically coasted to the finish line here.
They have am I looking right here they have lost
five of the last six games, having already clenched a
number one seed in the West. But I'm just thinking,
(08:06):
why you're already going to have another week off once
today is over. I don't I think this is counterproductive.
I want to keep my guys sharp. You're going to
get a week off. If you're not in the playing tournament,
you are going to get a week off. So this
idea of load management everybody resting down the stretch, to
me is it could be counterproductive a little bit, But
(08:30):
I mean you're gonna have a little bit. It's always
a debate between rest versus rust. Would you rather have
your guy well rested and have to deal with the
rust that could come with it, or do you want
a situation where you want to play them through and
risk injury. A lot of coaches would always out for rest.
They feel like they can shake off the rust within
the first half of the first game and then they're
(08:51):
back on track. The main thing, and most coaches will
say this the number one thing that you want to
be able to be a title contender. You need to
have all of your pieces in place for the tournament.
So you want everyone ready to go by the time
the postseason kicks off. And so if that means you
may kind of start out the gate and a little
slow because everyone is trying to regather and reconnect with
(09:14):
their chemistry. So be it. You want to have all
your guys because it becomes a player's game in the postseason.
Just for the record, of the top twelve scores in
the league, points per game, only two, two will play
as many as seventy games this year. The top twelve
scores in the league. I mean, this is something that
(09:36):
gets to me. And you know, some of them had
legitimate injuries, some of them are very much a part
of load management. But if you look at this list
as compared to just five years ago, I'm not talking
about twenty years ago or thirty years ago. I thought
of like five years ago, this would not be the case.
But of the top twelve scores in this league points
(09:57):
per game, only two, Jason Tatum and Trey Young will
play as many as seventy games this season in an
eighty two game season. Wow, that's a lot of miss games.
There's a lot of and this is star power here
that you know, we're talking about our biggest starts in
the league. That's a lot. You don't want your stars
to sit out in miss games, you know, And it's
(10:20):
it's funny because some of this you want to you know,
we always point to the players and a point the
players sit up. But then some of these decisions in
terms of miss games are organizational decisions based on sports science,
making sure that everyone is being able to, as you say,
manage their load. So load management comes into it. The
end goal for everyone is to win the championship, and
(10:41):
sometimes you have to sacrifice those individual honors and deal
with the noise that comes along with rest of you
guys to make sure they're available for the tournament. All right,
we got a lot to cover today, so imagine we're
going to keep our eye obviously on the Masters as
the leaders will tee off in about an hour and
fifteen minutes, So as soon as we get those guys
off and running, will be focused on that. Plenty of
(11:02):

(12:08):
All right, So, on a day in which we are
saying goodbye to the regular season in the NBA and
welcoming the final round of the Masters, there's a lot
going on, but I want to get one quick story
in with you about the NFL, and we have other
NFL stores are going to get too over the course
of the next several hours. But Deshaun Watson, can I
(12:29):
do a reset on Deshaun Watson? I think if I
feel like we need to do a reset, okay on
Deshaun Watson. Okay, because Deshaun Watson in so many ways
is affecting what's happening across the NFL because of that
contract that the Cleveland Browns gave him. That even if
(12:51):
he hadn't been suspended, the idea of a one hundred
percent fully guaranteed deal that he got changes the whole
dynamic of the Lamar Jackson situation, the Penning situation with
Joe Burrow. I mean, I mean, this is something that
has had a ripple effect across the National Football League.
(13:13):
So I wanted to get your breakdown on Watson. So
he came back last year having missed the entire twenty
twenty one season suspended for the first eleven games of
the twenty twenty two season. As expected, Cleveland immediately inserted
him in as a starting quarterback. He started six games
(13:33):
the team was three and three, completed just fifty eight
percent of his passes, seven touchdowns five picks, averaged under
one hundred and eighty four yards per game passing, and
had a passer rating of seventy nine. Those are not
good numbers by any stretch. Of the imagination. I don't
care how much money you're making, those are not sustainable
(13:55):
numbers for a starting quarterback in the National Football League.
So let me start right there, reset and Deshaun Watson.
What are you expecting from Deshaun Watson in twenty twenty three,
A much better Deshaun Watson. We have to remember Deshaun
Watson didn't play for a year and a half, which
is I mean like seven years in NFL terms, like
dog years. When you missed that much time, it is
(14:19):
hard to regain your rhythm and play at a high level,
no matter how talented you are. The last time that
we saw Deshaun Watson before last season, he was playing
at a top five level. He misses all of what
twenty won the first eleven games of twenty twenty two,
and he shows up and he plays in a new
system with a new coaching staff that didn't really know him.
(14:42):
And so because he now is available to do all
the things in the off season, he's had a taste
of game action, I would expect this year Deshaun Watson
to be closer to the version we saw in twenty
twenty than what we saw last season. All Right, So
The reason again I'm bringing up Deshaun Watson to do
this reset is remember all those civil suits that he
(15:03):
had filed against them by all those women, they were
all settled, right, No, they haven't been. There's two left
and he will be questioned under oath on Monday for
one of those two cases. So this is lingering right now.
And the NFL had made it clear after handing out
that eleven game suspension that they had not closed the
(15:25):
door on additional discipline based on these last two remaining
civil suits. Now, I know the players Union is going
to fight this tooth and nail and try to say no,
no, no no, that's not a works. This should have been
all inclusive if something had happened down the road with
other civil suits. But the fact that this is still
lingering out there. I'm still trying to get the mindset
(15:49):
of Deshaun Watson because, yeah, I agree with you, he's
he's going to be better with the full training camp
and an opportunity to really know the system in Cleveland.
But I don't know how mentally he can turn the
page once again. Here he is tomorrow under oaths have
to go over the same thing once again. It's still
(16:12):
gotta be lingering with the guy a little bit. But
I think now he's probably in a better place to
be able to do it. See because before and most
athletes have the ability to commorp mentalize what's going on
in their personal life with what's happening in their professional life.
It doesn't always come through. Sometimes it seems doing it
impacts it. But the weight and the gravity of everything
(16:33):
that he was dealing with before, yeah, it certainly impacted
his play. Also, I would say you have to remember
Deshan Watson went from being I mean, he was about
to be the face of the National Football League based
on the story his story coming up, how he overcame
all these things, living in habitat for Hannity Holmes, giving
back and doing all of those things that appeared to
(16:54):
make him that appeared to make him be a model
citizen in those things. Now he became the villain. Everywhere
he went, he was booed. I was there the first
night he played, returned to action in the preseason down
in Jacksonville, and the booze cascading on him. He's never
experienced that stuff. It is very similar in a different
(17:14):
way too, when Lebron had to play the villain when
he first went to Miami, and he acted like he
could embrace that role, but that's not who he is.
He is one. He's someone who needs to be beloved
to be at his best. Deshaun Watson is probably similar.
But now that he's kind of gone through that and
put some maybe some space through it, I think he
(17:34):
can navigate this situation, get through it and get back
to being to Deshaun Watson that we've seen. Well, let's
let's take it a step further than with the Cleveland Browns. Okay,
so now you're gonna have a fully engaged, fully prepared
Deshaun Watson for the twenty twenty three season. Where does
that put the Browns right now? Are they back in
the conversation? I mean, let's let's face it. They were
(17:56):
a playoff team a couple of years ago one a
playoff game with Baker Mayfield. Are the Browns now a
perennial playoff contender with Deshaun Watson because that's what's certainly
paid for with that fully guaranteed contract. Yes, as we
normally overreact to everything, we probably have overreacted to what
(18:18):
we saw from Deshaun Watson. A season ago, and we're
probably not giving him the benefit of the doubt that
we've given others who've slipped and had poor seasons or
subpar seasons. The Cleveland Browns are squarely in the mix
to be a team that bounces back and re emerges
as a playoff contender. You think about what they have already,
and they've always had one of the top offensive lines.
(18:40):
They have a running back in Nick Chubb, here's a
top guy. You have a Maury Cooper on the outside.
They quietly made a trade for Eli Moore to upgrade
the wide receiver situation. Defensively, Miles Garrett returns. They have
enough pieces in place to be a team that re emerges.
Remember Jim Schwartz comes over to man that defense. And
so this is a team that is flying under the radar.
(19:02):
No one mentions them, nor Deshaun Watson as a top
team or a top quarterback. And it's one of those
teams that we could be looking at in the middle season. Oh,
by the way, to Cleveland Brown's squarely in the mix, Well,
I'm looking at that AFC North now. I think that
the Bengals are similar to the Buffalo Bills now in
(19:23):
terms of what in terms of a team that will
be the clear favorite in that division for years to
come based on their quarterback. I mean, I can't give
them that because here's what I would say about the
Cincinnati Bengals. Joe Burrow is great. Joe Burr's about to
get paid, and so the composition of the team is
going to change when he gets paid. Their team doesn't
remember t Higgins has to get paid. Jamar Chase has
(19:44):
to eventually get paid. They'll probably move on from Joe
Mixon and Tyler Board within the next year or so.
Can they maintain it? And then it comes down to
because we're doing this, Joe Burrows played at a high level,
but there was a time where Deshaun Watson played at
US to higher level. And if you're Cleveland and Cincinnati,
you would like it to be a situation where it's
(20:05):
a quarterback shootout and you feel good about your quarterback.
A lot of pressures on Kevin Stefanski to help Deshaun
Watson get back to that level. But if he does,
I think they can go toe to toe with Cincinnati.
It's interesting because at the end of this past season,
it was assumed on the AFC side that there were
three teams Kansas City, Buffalo and Cincinnati. There were just
a notch above everybody else, and a lot of that
(20:27):
obviously based on their quarterbacks. Um, so, I mean so
the AFC, and so this is why, because when we
eventually talked about Aaron Rodgers, this is why it's not
a shooting for the Jets to go because when you
look at the quarterbacks. Okay, so we just mentioned all right,
let's let's look at the quarterbacks in the FC right now.
All right, So mahomes, it's at the top of the list.
(20:49):
You got Josh Allen, you got Joe Burrow, Okay, right,
those those are three guys right there. Then you got
Justin Herbert with the Chargers. Um, is he number four?
He's number four for sure? Okay. And then we were
talking yesterday if Aaron Rodgers would too, you know, and
will be eventually I'm sure Jets quarterback? Is he number
five on that list? You have him slightly aheaded Trevor
(21:12):
Lawrence right now? So right now you put just we're
gifting Aaron Rodgers and Rodgers go as ahead of Trevor Lawrence.
But remember, so we have Trevor Lawrence, we have Russell Wilson,
who will have an opportunity to play with Sean Payton.
Maybe he bounces back. Um, you have Jimmy Garoppolo reconnecting
(21:33):
with Josh McDaniels, right, I mean the quarterback play. Oh oh,
by the way, if Lamar Jackson does come back and
they issued me a couple of Lamar Jackson, they find
a way to get there. So the AFC is bananas,
whereas the NFC, Jalen Hurst is number one, so we're
(21:56):
really excited. Yeah, and who's number two? Dak? Yeah? Who
are were excited about it too, And that's why it's
baffling that no one from the NFC, yeah, has made
a move to inquire about Lamar Jackson because it is
wide open to take over. Jared Goff is the second
best quarterback in the NFC. Maybe is there what we're saying,
(22:17):
Dak Prescot Jared Goff Nah, I'm a Jared Goff fan.
I thought he Honestly, the thing about last year was
Gino Smith got a comeback Player of the Year. But
my argument against Gino and it was an incredible year,
but comeback from what he was never anything that is
(22:40):
not a comeback. Jared Goff to me was the comeback
player of the Year in the NFL. He from he
was a Super Bowl quarterback, back to back Pro Bowls.
Then he felt completely off the matt where ones to
get rid of the guy, and then came back and
had a great season with Detroit. If they had had
any defense, Lions obviously would have easily skated into the playoffs.
(23:03):
That's because his coach gave up on him. His coach
fell all in love with him. Well he did, But
that to me is a comeback. You have to bend something,
fall off the map and then come back. That to
me is a come that And I think golf was
that all right? Once again, let's find out what is
trending right now. And here we are on this Sunday,
and let's wish a happy Easter to Monsey. Butlanio's happy Easter, Mondsey,
(23:25):
happy Easter, Fellas happy Sunday. Yeah, here we are. Well,
we have a lot going on. We have two main
things today today, so the last day of the regular season.
So we have fifteen games, all thirty teams in action
with the NBA today and then we got the leader's
team off in about an hour for the final round
the Masters. So yeah, but I'm really annoyed with these
(23:46):
basketball games. I was just telling the fellas in the studio.
I was like, nobody is playing in half of these games.
These games should cost five dollars for you to go watch.
This is ridiculous. I understand that you know, the Milwaukee
don't need to play, but you know what, fans need
to be able to watch you onus onto Takoumpo, even
if it's for twenty minutes. What's the playoff? I can't like,
(24:09):
You're going to the playoffs and tickets are gonna be
so much more expensive, so not every fan is gonna
be able to watch it during the playoffs. Where aren't
you even playing for at least twenty minutes? But you
know who is gonna play? Mcal Bridges who hasn't missed
like a game in like four hundred games. He's never
missed a game and he's still playing today. This is
so frustrating. These should be five dollars. Five dollars. Well,
you heard my stat earlier. The top twelve scorers in
(24:29):
the league top twelve last year, only two Jason Tatum
and Trading played as many as seventy games. That's Katie
two game season. I can't. This is so frustrating. This
is so frustrating. But the big games in the NBA
that do have a way as to who's gonna win
are a little bit later, you know, the Lakers playing
(24:50):
the Clippers playing the Sons, the Warriors. The Western Conference
is not set, the Eastern Conference is. But I'm just
so frustrated, guys, I'm so frustrated with this. Five dollars
are free. That's what these games should cost. So I'm
not even gonna talk about these games because nobody clearly
cares about this game. But we have some baseball games
going on as well. The Tigers have an early lead
(25:10):
against the Red Sox. They're up one zero. They're about
to start the second inning. The Rays have an early
lead against the A's. They are in the second inning
and the Rays are up one zero. The Reds and
the Phillies officially got going bottom of the first inning,
but they are scoreless. And yes, you mentioned in about
an hour the two leaders at the Masters, which is
brooks Kepka. He is eleven under part overall, John Ramins
(25:31):
in second place, nine under. They're gonna start at two
thirty three pm. Eastern time in about an hour. And
the big story is that Tiger Woods has withdrawn from
the tournament. Unfortunately, he has aggravated a previous planter fasciitis
injury in his right foot. He tweeted about that it
is the second time in this past year that Woods
has withdrawn from a major championship because of injury. The
(25:52):
Lakers did try and bolst their roster. They added Tristan Thompson,
who has not played in the NBA this season in
no no, Yes, he's been hanging out with the Kardashians though,
and guard Shack Harrison also has been added to the
Lakers roster. Back to you guys, all right, monsy, thank
you very much. It's going to be a busy Sunday. Indeed,
(26:13):
all right. By the way, I want to get back
here to the Sean Payton situation in Denver, Bucky. Yesterday
we're talking about that. John Elway has now one hundred
percent walked away from the Denver Broncos at age sixty two.
He has decided that football is in his rear view
mirror and he's going to spend more time with his family.
(26:35):
He has zillions of dollars with his ownership of multiple businesses.
But this really is attorney of a page in Denver,
with the Bowling family out and the Walton family in
in charge, and they spent a mint on Sean Payton
to somehow rectify what clearly was a catastrophe season for
(26:56):
the Bronchos a year ago. So here's what I've always
wanted to know from someone that knows like you. So
I would imagine Sean Payton, who is very much a
take charge guy. That is Sean Payton. He will have
command of that locker room. This will be not a
Nathaniel Hackett situation where maybe Hackett expected, Hey, I don't
(27:18):
have to be that guy because I have a leader
in Russell Wilson. And all we heard was negative out
of that locker room toward Russell Wilson and the way
he conducted himself carried himself. Sean Payton's going to be
in charge of this locker room. So I'm gonna imagine
that Sean Payton is going to do a real thorough rundown,
(27:42):
almost an investigation, breaking down what it is at this
point of his career that Russell Wilson can do and
can't do, and eliminate the can't does. I mean, if
you look at the numbers last year, the most glaring number,
I mean, his passer rating was an all time low
(28:02):
only sixteen touchdowns eleven picks, completed a career low sixty
percent of his passes, but he was sacked a league
high fifty five times three hundred and sixty eight yards
in passing. So, if you're Sean Payton sitting down watching
film with Russell Wilson in twenty twenty two and trying
to figure out what can we do with this guy
in twenty twenty three because he can't get rid of him,
(28:24):
what are the things that he is going to tell
Russell Wilson are off the list? No more of this?
Here's because this look a look at Drew Breese those
last four or five years. As Breeze's arm was beginning
to fall off and they shortened the passing routes, Brees
was setting records every year from completion percentage. But he
adjusted that Saint's offense to the diminishing skills of a
(28:48):
Drew Brees. What does he do to try to get
the most out of what he has left in Russell Wilson,
Sean Payton has talked about this. He talked about it
before he got the job. He talked about it where
he said, you know, with a guy like Russell Wilson,
and what you do with any quarterback is you go
back and you dig down. You have the people put
up his best thirty place, and what you're trying to
(29:10):
do is find the common denominator between those plays, and
what you do is you play the hits. Whatever concepts
work best for Russell Wilson, whatever he's had the most
success with throughout his career. Your job is to find
a way to have him do those same things over
and over and over again. So that is same concept,
(29:30):
different formation, same concept, different formation with emotion to it,
same concept, different personnel grouping executing the concept. So he
is looking at the same concept, but you are manipulating
the pieces around him to give the defense a different look.
As Russell ages out and maybe he loses some of
his athleticism, you don't have Russell run around as much.
(29:52):
The only issue that you have with Russell comparing him
to Drew Brees, Russell Wilson has never been a timing
and rhythm quarterback. Drew Brees was a timing rhythm quarterback
from the time he was at Purdue all the way
through his league is catch, get to the top of
his drop balls out. Russell Wilson's best plays have been
extended plays, improvised plays, runaround for it over top of
(30:14):
the defense on a scramble, and so at this stage
of his career, it's unlikely that Russell can change his
game and become more of a timing rhythm quarterback. And
so Sean Payton has invested in the offensive line in
the running game, because what you can do to help
Russell more play action, more deep shots, because that's the
(30:34):
strength of his game, and find a way to be
efficient by having him do things that he does really well.
I took my sons to the Broncos Chargers game. It's
so far last year. First half, Russell Wilson was on fire,
and I was thinking, I don't see anything wrong with
this guy. I mean, he was on target. I think
he was like ten of eleven or something to start
(30:54):
the game. And then in the second half it's like
somebody else put on the uniform. So, I mean he
was so discombobulated, frantic, dare I say, and trying to
get something done, and there was just nothing there, no
nothing there and for Russell, and he has to own
this part of it. A lot of the sacks are
(31:16):
on him, So how can Russell do a better job
of getting it out of his hands? And now, finally,
because everyone understands who he is, maybe Pete Carroll was
right when he didn't allow Russell Wilson to cook. Meaning
less of Russ is better for the team because when
he throws it over thirty five times, he eventually falls apart.
(31:40):
So maybe that sweet spot for Russell is anywhere from
twenty five to thirty throws. Fifty to seventy five percent
of those throws are some form of play action to
allow him to be efficient and operating in the world
where he's comfortable. You know, I remember, I remember a
couple of years ago we were talking about, Wow, there
is such a wealth of quarterback talent. We haven't seen
(32:03):
this in years, all all of these young quarterbacks. I'm
looking at the NFC right now, I'm looking at these
sixteen teams in the NFC, and you know how many
I say, have what I think a solid situation at quarterback.
Five Maybe the Eagles, the Cowboys, the Vikings, the Lions. Yeah,
(32:34):
Giants with Daniel Jones. I don't know, Commanders, Packers, Bears.
We still have to see if Justin Fields is that Tampa, Carolina,
New Orleans, Atlanta, the forty nine Ers, the Seahawks, a
Geno Smith going to come back? What's the situation with
the Rams right now with Matthew Stafford, Kyler Murray as
he ever? Is he going to return to form? Just
(32:56):
we went from boy that The quarterback situation solid too.
As you mentioned, Lamar Jackson is just sitting there for
the taking. I counting ten or eleven of the fifteen
teams in the NFC, if they were to acquire Lamar
Jackson be a major upgrade for them, major upgrade. And
so that's why it's so baffling. When Ron Rivera comes
(33:18):
out and says, oh, yeah, he doesn't feel what we do.
We're like, well, what do you do? Like, they haven't
been they haven't had a winning season. He only has
three winning seasons throughout his career, and each of those
happened with Cam Newton. So what is it that you
do that Lamar Jackson can't do? Like? Is this admission?
I mean, let me ask you. I mean, is this
I mean the idea of Lamar Jackson. And because again
(33:41):
you're you're okay, fine, you're willing to give up the
two number one picks, but do you still have to
sign them to a long term deal? Um? I don't know.
I mean, I've had this theory of it. I think
there's collusion going on in this league right now. It's
a serious accusation, but I mean, I'm telling you there
just seems to be an organized effort for no team
(34:01):
because remember this, by putting him as a unprotected franchise player,
they will save if he does return to the Ravens
thirteen million dollars in salary had he been a protected
franchise players. That's a big difference. And I think these
NFL owners still hurting it about that Deshaun Watson contract,
(34:25):
are trying to get things under control as far as
these quarterback contracts are concerned. And that might be true,
But if you're the Baltimore Ravens and you do that,
you run the risk of, like it's on paper, it's great,
you save thirteen million dollars, but you're not playing the
game with paper. You play with human beings. And so
they have fielders, and so if you disrespect Lamar Jackson.
(34:46):
If you disrespect your players by not necessarily paying them
market value or shorten them or leaving them where they
feel like they're wronged, it's gonna be hard to get
the same kind of production for Lamar jacks because he's
not gonna be as loyal to the team. So those
tweaks and bumps and bruises that he might have played
through early, he is going to be more reluctant to
do that because you already showed him how you value them.
(35:08):
All right. Coming up on the other side, we got
MBA news as we have the last day of the
regular season in the NBA. I guess the question moving
forward is is there a team that is a clear
notch above in the Western Conference. By the way, we're
brought to you by Progressive Insurance. Progressive makes bundling easy
and affordable. Get a multi policy discount by combining your motorcycle, RV, boat,
(35:31):
ATV and more all your protection in one place bundling
save at Progressive dot com. Who will emerge out of
the Western Conference and settle into the NBA Finals. We'll
tell you this is Fox Sports Sunday. Steve Hartman, Bucky
Brooks Fox Sports Sunday, Happy Eastern everybody out there. We
are live from the tirerack dot Com studios and we
(35:54):
are now about, let's see, forty three minutes away from
the scheduled tea time. The two leaders on the board
at the Masters Brooks Kepka and John Rom Kepka at
minus eleven, Rom at minus nine, and right in front
of them will be Victor Hobland at minus eight Patrick
Cantley at minus six. All of those guys are looking
(36:16):
to put on the green jacket for the very first time.
By the way, if we do have a first time
winner of the Masters, will be the eighth time in
the last nine years that we will get a first
time winner at the Masters, and one exception, of course,
in twenty nineteen with Tiger Tiger Course Withdrew this morning
as expected, suffering a foot injury apparently was the official ruling.
(36:37):
And as we saw him struggle to start that third
round after making the cut, it was painful to watch,
and so we did. We didn't think he was going
to come out and play twenty nine holes today. That
was knocking the cards. So he will sit the rest
of the Masters out. Um, we're talking a little bit
about the NBA as well. Today final day of the
(36:58):
regular season. We'll have the play in Round starting next week,
and then we get into the official playoffs around the NBA.
In the East, obviously you got Milwaukee up Boston, you
got Philadelphia, clear cut favorites on the East side. But
in the West, a lot of people are just not
buying into the Denver Nuggets, and as I mentioned, they
(37:19):
pretty much have taken off the last six or seven
games after clinching the number one seed in the Western Conference,
And that brings the question up, So who is the
team to beat in a division where you have the
Phoenix Suns now with a Kevin Durant, you know to
sit there, whether Chris Paul and Devin Booker or the
Lakers with a Lebron James and Anthony Davis and maybe
(37:42):
De'angel Russell step in in a guys in an All
Star in the past, or maybe it's the Memphis Grizzlies.
Sean Morant was suspended for the team from the team
and since his return, this team seems to be playing
as well as any team in the Western Conference. Would
(38:04):
you list the Grizzlies right now? Who will be the
two seed. And by the way, if everything plays off
as expected today, the Lakers will be the seven seed
taking on the Pelicans the eighth seed, and if the
Lakers were to win that game, they would then take
on the Memphis Grizzlies in the first round of the playoffs. Yes,
(38:27):
so how would you look at that matchup? Assuming everybody's
healthy a Memphis Lakers first round matchup, Memphis would be
the favorite, and rightly so. In Memphis is a dangerous team.
Yah marint going away and coming back. He's going back
a more determined player. He is playing well, He's very
efficient in how they're doing. They've seen that they can
(38:49):
win games without them, and so you have a more
confident team in general against the Lakers. I mean, we're
talking about the Star Parker from the Lakers inside a
D and Lebron, but I mean Austin Reason is gonna
have to step up and he's gonna have to outplay
one of those top twos for the Grizze. It'd be
a tough matchup for the Lakers. Even though we wax
(39:09):
boy ed then think Lebron can kind of do everything.
I don't know about this tough situation from Memphis Yeah.
By the way, one of the key pickups for Memphis
Luke Kennard, who leads the NBA in three point shooting percentage,
and that guy can light it up, and to me,
(39:30):
he has been a huge edition for this Grizzlies team. Yeah.
I mean, if you had great contributions from a bunch
of different guys, they play hard, and when they get on,
when they're on the same page and not distracted by
the other stuff, it's a problem. It's a problem to
deal with that talented team, tough team, tough minded team.
(39:52):
It's it's gonna be interesting again for the teams like Phoenix,
like the Lakers, like the Clippers, where you're making some
wholesale changes at the trade deadline and trying to get
that chemistry together. It was a disaster in Dallas, obviously,
and they'll be on the outside looking in. Can these
other teams actually find the magic once the playoff begins?
(40:14):
And that'll be coming up shortly, all right, coming up
in the next hour. We'll get you set for the
final round of the Masters with the leaders out there,
and yeah, I will sprinkle in a few more NBA
stories getting ready for the postseason. Keep it right here.
Much more coming up. This is Fox Sports Sunday. Well,
have ye saw everybody out there? This is Fox Sports
Sunday and we are broadcasting live from the ti irac
(40:36):
dot Com studios ti irac dot com. We're gonna help
get you there. I'm at selection, fast, free shipping, free
road hats or protection, over ten thousand recommended installers tirac
dot com the way tire buying should be. All right.
We are focused in on the final round of the Masters.
As far as the leaderboard is concerned, no real changes.
(40:57):
We are still about a half an hour away for
the leaders. The final pairing to tea Oprooks Kepka and
John Ram Kepka at minus eleven, Rom at minus nine.
The twosome in front of them, Victor Hoblin is at
minus eight and Patrick Kentley is at six. So those
are the golfers that were keeping an eye on. By
(41:17):
the way, quick note about Kepka. He has led going
into the final round of a major three times in
his career and all three times he has one. And
by the way, the quick side note on this brooks Kepka,
if he does win the Masters, is the fact that
he is a live golfer. And we mentioned yesterday that
(41:42):
Greg Norman was not extended an invitation to the Masters.
He's not a former Masters champion. But normally if a
if a former major winner, a Hall of Famer like
Greg Norman is, you know, says hey, can I get
passes to the Masters, they would say yes, the Masters
admitting that we really don't need the distraction. But Norman
(42:04):
also had proclaimed that if a live golfer won the Masters,
big team picture at the end of the seventeen golfers
or eighteen whatever, it was live golfers that actually qualified
for this year's Masters, So it would be interesting if
he wins brooks Kepka and whether or not that will
(42:27):
change the dynamic of the liv golf tour if a
live golfer actually wins a major golf championship. Yes, because
a lot of people are still upset of the Masters
that they even allowed these live golfers to participate and
their feeling, and all the majors have said the same thing,
(42:47):
We're not going to change our requirements if you qualify,
because there's every one of these majors have a different
list of qualifications to get into the field. If you
qualify I don't care who you play for, you're still in. Yeah,
I mean, I think ultimately it's a meritocracy based on
how you perform and how you play. We can debate
the merits of whether the guys from the Live Tour
(43:10):
should be allowed to play, but if you don't let
them play, once they're in, they're in. And if they
play at a high level, you have to give them
their props and it would be a huge feather in
decap of the Live Tour if they're guys. One of
the guys wins, but they also have other guys that
kind of dot the lead award. Yeah, it's terrific, Because
we talked about it, the Live Tour is what everyone
(43:32):
as prior as to have in their regular life in
terms of hey, man, work less, get paid more. It's
a great opportunity. You only playing fifty four holes compared
to seventy two. Talk about the money that is astronomical
the way they've been lining in these guys pockets. And
so if you're able to do it in a very
efficient manner and make more money and still play in
(43:52):
the major events, why wouldn't you sign up for those situations? Well,
they part of getting into a major golf tournament or
the war Old Golf rankings, all of the four majors have.
You know, if you're in the top fifty in the
world at the time of the major, you're going to
be in the field. But right now, the liv Golf
Tour gets no World Golf rankings, but they only play
(44:14):
fifty four holes. So I think if you're if you're
in charge of the World Golf rankings, at some point
you're realizing the Live Golf Tour is not going to
go away, and they have some big name golfers out there.
I don't know, if you stagger it, maybe get a
smaller percentage of points if you want to live Golf
tournament because again it's fifty four holes instead of seventy two.
(44:35):
But the idea of excluding them completely from the rankings
doesn't make any sense to me. I mean, there's golf
tours all over the world. I mean that was the
idea of the World Golf rankings. You have the European Tour,
the Australian Tour, the Japanese Tour. There's tours all over
the world. It's just that this tour you only play
fifty four holes. Yes, so it can't be on an
equal footing of a tournament where you play seventy two holes. Yeah,
(44:59):
like you have to find the way. You have to
find a way to do it. There are enough numbers
guys out there that can quantify how performing will then
live to event equals up to performing in a regular
PGA sanction event where you have the extra round. You
have to figure out a way to do it. Because
it's a real thing now and if brooks Keepka continues
(45:21):
to hold on and he wins, you're going to have
to talk about it because these guys are going to
continue to win these these events that they are allowed
to participate in. Absolutely so right now, we got a
few more parents before we get to the One of
the big stories also was this Sam Bennett, the amateur
who goes into the final round. He ended up shooting
a seventy six four over par in the third round,
(45:43):
but still for an amateur to be in the top
ten of the Masters. We'll see if he actually holds uppies.
Right now to te seven is a miraculous story. In fact,
we're watching right now Tee Off here at the first talk.
Can you imagine a kid like this? He goes sixty
eight sixty eight. The first couple of rounds, he did
falter a little bit. In that third round, of course,
he was only playing alongside Brooks, cap Gun John Rom
(46:06):
But this kid just sort of holds it together. I
always wonder when you see this, you know, out of
left field, you know, no one knows who this guy is.
Is this the last we're going to see? If this
guy is this a one and done. And by the way,
no matter where he finishes, he gets no money. He's
an amateur. He gets no paycheck from this, so he
(46:29):
could I mean technically he could be looking at a
paycheck of hundreds of thousands of dollars. As an amateur,
you don't get paid zero game. They're showing right now
there have been three times that an amateur has finished
second in the Masters. But yeah, he will not get
(46:51):
paid for whatever he finishes here at this year's Masters. Um.
Getting back to Tiger Woods, who withdrew earlier today because
of that injury. You know, Bucky, we talk about Tiger
a lot. And it was interesting to me waking up
this morning, not looking at the sports websites, but the
(47:12):
news websites, you know, the the CNNs, the Foxes, the
MSNBC's NBCCBES, all these different news sites, and it's a
lead story. It's not about you know, who's winning the Masters,
is that Tiger Wood draws from the Masters. And it's
always interesting to me how there is this idea that somehow,
(47:34):
in terms of his ability to win tournaments, that Tiger
is still relevant, and they're just deaf to the ear
what Tiger is telling them that indeed, he is at
a ceremonial stage of his career. He would like to
be able to get back to a competitive stage. But
after shattering his leg, almost losing that leg, almost losing
(47:55):
his life, that's really not in the cards. But it
doesn't seem to have dawned to the people real world
out there, so to speak, that Tiger is not relevant
in terms of whin he major golf championships anymore. Those
days are officially over. Yeah, those days are fisher over.
But I think we need to look at Tiger differently.
(48:16):
We just need to appreciate the fact that he is
able to be out there based on the severity of
that collision that he was involved in years ago, Like
we never thought that we would actually see Tiger on
the course and that kind of culminated a series of
incidents off the field. It really has left him a
shell of himself in terms of his golfing ability physically,
(48:39):
in terms of the way that he used to dominate
the golf course to the point that they Tiger Rise courses,
made them longer and shorter and did different things to
kind of make it more challenging for him to be
able to get to the winner circle. And he was
able to defeat all those challenges. And so now that
he is back and he has been able to participate,
we have to take him for what he is. He's
(49:00):
no longer the Great Tiger, but he still is respected
as a legend. And so you give him his reverence,
You watch him, you salute him, you give him the
golf clap and stuff like that. But the expectation that
he is going to be a dominant player, yeah, those
days are done well. Tiger was able to take golf
from the back pages to the front pages in his heyday.
(49:25):
He took golf from a backpage sport to a front
page sport. And when he had the down period for
a while, suddenly and they were trying to promote, Hey,
we got these young stars like Rory McElroy and all
these guys. It wasn't compelling to the audience. And I'm
not talking about the diehard golf fans, because I know
(49:45):
diehard golf fans have been always there before after the Tiger.
I'm talking about on the periphery. You know, it's very rare,
Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods, did you have an athlete a
Muhammad Ali that is able to Frans formed themselves to
beyond their actual sport, that their star power is beyond
anything that their sport has to offer. So golf had
(50:09):
this insane privilege to have someone like Tiger Woods in
their midst and everybody benefit. Once everybody was getting beyond
the fact that this guy's beating us every single week,
they realize, yeah, but the purses are bigger than ever.
I'm going to make more money now finishing second than
I would have finishing first without Tiger Woods. But it
(50:31):
will be interesting to see now because there was that
glimpse of hope, you know, when Tiger won that Masters
four years ago, maybe he's back. Well now this week
we have clearly seen that that Tiger is not going
to return. It's not happening. And how this sport progresses.
How do you sell the game of golf? You know?
(50:53):
And by the way, here's another thing. When we talk
about a golf game that has been predominantly white over
the years, and a lot of people felt that with
the emergence of Tiger Woods, we would see more minority
golfers out on the PGA Tour. Do you know that
there are actually fewer now than there were when Tiger
(51:13):
actually broke in? Why is that? Yeah, there are actually
fewer on the PGA Tour now than there were when
Tiger emerged winning that Masters in nineteen ninety seven. Internationally,
I think it's been a big game, and you talk
about some of these international golfers sighting Tiger Woods as
an inspiration for them to get into the game as
(51:35):
a youth. But as far as minorities are concerned, the
numbers are not there. They're actually lower than they were
twenty five years ago on the PGA Tour. It's amazing,
is disappointing and distressing that you haven't anymore. You would
like to think that there would have been a bounce
or boom that those guys who watch Tiger in the
(51:55):
nineties two thousands, that eventually they would be holding clubs
on the two. But I'll be honestly, we think about
the different factors very similar to baseball, like just the
amount of money that goes into it to be able
to participate, where courses are located, how many courses are
located in nearby neighborhoods with minorities and those things, and
(52:17):
you have to seek it out. And also from a
cultural standpoint, you in a way needed someone to pick
up the mantle for Tiger to not necessarily be a competitor,
but to be on the tour, in the mix while
he's doing it so much like Michael Jordan and Kobe right,
so you could you could easily see the transition from
(52:37):
Michael Jordan to Kobe where you kind of have not
necessarily a rivalry, but you have that extension of the
great Michael Jordan and Kobe Tight. You never had an
opportunity to really see that, and because of that, it
has kind of I would say died off. There are
people that I go see play on weekends and those things,
(52:59):
but it certainly didn't reached the fever pitch. And that's
also why so many guys because I do remember at
the height of Tiger being Tiger. Just seeing guys on
the golf course all the time. Now there's an older generation,
but just mimicking, imitating, talking about it. People like just
doing it. And I grew up in a household where
my uncles were caddies and they always talked about the game.
(53:23):
And I never necessarily picked it up, but I was
always around that they talked about it. We would watched
Jack Nicholas and the Masters and all that other stuff.
But it just hasn't resonated like we thought, and so
there has to be some kind of cool factor that
allows it to be a bigger thing in the community.
That is the biggest part of it. When all these
young golfers during the rise of Tiger Woods site why
(53:46):
Tiger was such an inspiration to them is that he
was cool. It was cool to be a golfer. You know,
you're an athlete, and it's like I'm playing football, I'm
playing basketball, I'm playing baseball, golf golf cool. Tiger made
it cool. So we'll see what happens here. Again, we
(54:07):
are watching the final round of the Masters. Whether we'll
not be a factor. There will be no rain today.
They will get this final round in poo day all right.
Today is also the final day regular season in the
NBA MVP. It's been a raging argument all season long.
The votes will be cast today. Top five. That's what
(54:29):
you fill on on your MVP ballot. Top five regular season.
We'll give you our list. Coming up next, Steve Harman
and Bucky Brooks, Fox Sports Sunday. A Happy Easter out
there once he am were you are alive from the
tirerac dot Com studios. One thing about Bucky, he comes
(54:51):
fully prepared. Now, over the years, Bucky, you know that
I have worked with pretty much everybody in the industry. Yes,
they're very There are very few people in our industry
that I have not sat next to these many many years,
and the vast majority of them. Whether I've done a
morning show, a midday show, an afternoon show, it doesn't matter.
(55:13):
Usually have food with them because we're doing a three
four hour show, whatever it might be. I've done five hours.
You don't do anything, You're You're like, no food, no water,
You just like locked in and focus. Yeah, I mean
I rarely leave my seat. Yeah, Like, you don't do anything.
I just I just sit here. I just hit like
an iron Man over here. The first first time we
(55:33):
worked together, I was like, man, my man doesn't get up,
he doesn't lead, doesn't doesn't go with he's just banging.
Years ago, the Hall of Fame golfer Gary Player, three
time Masters champion, who by the way, is now eighty
seven years of age and a big fitness guy, had
him on the radio show one time and this was
about I don't know ten a little over ten years ago,
twelve years ago, and he was actually featured in the
(55:56):
Body edition of ESPN, you know that magazine where they
and the guy was in his seventies. Remember, so I was.
I brought him on. He was a very nice man,
and I asked him, you know what is the key
and staying fit? Is it exercises a diet? He goes.
The key is this, the less you eat, the longer
(56:20):
you live. So for some of them, I, like myself,
I sort of keep that in mind. I don't eat
very much. Did you give a rational but behind the
less you eat? Like, I don't know, I mean because
naturally I think your body will put on weight as
you don't. I mean, I don't know how much food again,
exercise and everything else, you have to have a certain
(56:40):
amount of calories in your diet. But people tend to
over eat. It's simple as that they eat more than
their bodies actually need and it's hard on your organs.
But you know who else um or prescribed to that
that mentality is Eric Dickerson. He doesn't eat a lot
of food. No, he it's very he's very slender man.
(57:01):
He's probably gonnave to be like one hundred and thirties. Well,
I mean I again, but your body adjusts and people say,
are you hungry? The thing about me is when I
do eat, I eat fast, which that's not good. That's
not good, see because that moderation though in the moment
you're feasting, Yeah, you go up, but I really so
(57:22):
basically Gary Player is doing what is the crazy? They're
intermittent fasting. He's not eating your lot and the signs
your body just because some of the triggers that make
us want to eat are just visual clues. You're not
necessarily hungry, right, But it's a routine. Well, I wake up,
I guess I'm gonna eat, and then oh it's more
free food at the off the office. Yeah, free like
so you just kind of can't pass can't can't pass
(57:44):
up those things and so maybe there's something to it.
But then I'll tell you, like this morning, I walked
in and had a hot yoga class and like kind
of caught me by surprise, like wore me out a
little bit, and so I was getting lighted. It's so
I'm to make sure I don't pass out on you.
Right now. Help is on the way. We have, Yeah,
(58:07):
we do have a little little nourishment here coming the way.
All right. Um, Today is the final day of the
regular season the NBA, and like every other sport, whether
it's the NHL, the NBA, Major League Baseball, the National
Football League, it is the final day of the regular
season when the writers and all those individual sports vote
(58:28):
on the season ending awards before the playoffs begin, and
this is in uniform across the board before we give
our list of the top five MVP. And the reason
that there's five is that it's the one award where
there are five spots filled out on every ballot one, two, three,
(58:49):
four five in the NBA. But do you believe that
it should remain the same where when we talk about
an MVP award, it's based on the regular season. You
do have obviously an NBA finals MVP based on what
you do in the NBA Finals. But how do you
feel about these awards, all of these awards and all
(59:12):
these team sports voted on before the playoffs. Well, I
mean there's a part of it, Like in my estimation,
there should be regal season MVPs and then postseason MVPs
because it's a completely different animal. You award the people
who have played well during the eighty two games season,
but you also want to reward those who turn it
up in the tournament. It's only right. And so to
(59:35):
give someone a regular season MVP, that's great. They can
have the little trophy. They can have the trophy for
what they did during a regular season. But when we
get down to it and it's the time whereas the
rubber meets the road. Yeah, it should be a separate category,
just like they talk about finals, MVPN and other stuff.
All right, most valuable player for Bucky Brooks, How do
(59:56):
you define most valuable player? Is it just the best player? Period?
Is the best player on the best team? How much
should team's success weigh in for you in determining who
is the most valuable player? Yeah, it's funny because it
can be a few different things. Most valuable player or
does it really mean most outstanding player? A lot of
(01:00:17):
times when we vote on MVPs we get that part
wrong because we're talking about value. All these players are
valuable to their teams because they're the start of their
respective teams. So if you remove them, the team doesn't
function at the same level. That's it. I view it
as the most outstanding player, the player that dominates throughout
the course of the regular season, the player that has
(01:00:37):
clearly been hit and showed as above the competition when
it comes to their individual play and raising the performance
of their team as well. Yeah, and the problem with
the MBA's MVP voting, by the way, prior to nineteen
eighty one, the voting for MVP was not done by
the media. It was done by the players in the league.
(01:01:01):
The league players decided the MVP award, and then by
nineteen eighty one they finally decided let the media decide.
How do you feel about that deciding who the most
valuable player is versus the media deciding the most valuable players.
So here's the thing when it comes to it, Because
(01:01:22):
as a former player, I've been on this side of
the argument that players need to do it, but then
players also may not pay a close enough tension to
the games, and they also have prejudices. There's some things too.
The media has prejudice too. So I feel like it
almost needs to be a split. We need to have
a committee, a split where we have some players, we
have some media members, we kind of have a collection,
(01:01:44):
a collective come together and decide on who should be
the MVP, and maybe we put a little fan interest
in there as well, almost like the All Star Game. Yeah,
but in the All Star voting, did you see the
players vote and you're seeing players you never heard of
actually get votes to start the All Star Game? Because see,
that's that's when it was like, I never even heard
(01:02:05):
of this guy? Who who are the three players that
decided this guy should start the All Star Game? I
gotta show you the voting during the break. So on
the other side, we'll get to our top five list
of this year's NBA MVP. But right now, let's find
out what is trending and well Moncy on this Easter Sunday,
very much in the giving mentality, we're not even paying attention,
(01:02:28):
which is hard for the course for me, people knew
this to me all the time, like, you guys are
so locked in. Sam and I were trying so hard
to get your attention, all right. I get this all
the time from my own family. They're like they were
on a walk and I was driving up in the
smart car, or they drove by me and like, did
you see us? And I'm like, no, I did not
(01:02:49):
see him. If we were waving at you, how did
you not see us? I was like climbing on top
of the desk. You missed it, You missed it? Well,
it's it's because I spend four hours on a Sunday
staring at Sam right right, because I can't really see
Bow in the backgros tired of staring at me, you know,
(01:03:09):
and I have to I have to look at Bucky,
but that I naturally see a lot of as saying,
we make a lot of eye contact food day, and
he's very colorful to Yeah, it's my Easter shirt. It's
got breakfast foods on it. Interesting, Bucky was mesmerized with you.
I couldn't get Bucky to look in our direction at all. Yeah. Yeah. Um.
(01:03:31):
So we got a lot of NBA today, meaningless a
lot of Major League Baseball, and those leaders are about
to tee off at the Masters. They are. We'll stay
with NBA for just a second. Guys, there's sixteen possible
seating scenarios in the Western Conference based on four games
New Orleans and Minnesota, Utah at Lakers, Golden State at Portland,
(01:03:54):
and Clippers at Phoenix. So all of that sixteen possible
seating scenarios. The only thing we do know in the
West is that Denver's number one, Memphis will be number two,
Sacramento is number three, Phoenix is number four, and Oklahoma
City is number ten. So everything in between is up
in the air. That is everything that we know. On
the East, it's pretty much set as it is. So
(01:04:14):
that's why those games are a little bit meaningless right now,
and that's why half of them aren't even playing. But
the four games that are supposed to start at three
thirty pm Eastern time have a lot a lot of
sway and we'll see sixteen possible scenarios. You guys were
talking about the MVP. I agree with you, Bucky. It
should be a little bit more of include some players,
include some media, and the players maybe can't vote for
(01:04:37):
their own teammate type of thing, or like the coaches
camp vote for their own players something like that. I
totally agree with you, guys, but it's gonna be Joel
Empie who's gonna win the scoring champion for the second
straight year. Thirty three point one points per game is
what he averaged. He's not playing today, but it doesn't
matter because Luca and Damian Lillard, who are second and third,
are not playing either. Luca average thirty two point four,
(01:04:58):
Damian Lillard thirty two points. So it's gonna be Joel
and being with thirty three point one. And again, he's
not even playing today. We also have a lot of
baseball going on all rise because Aaron Judges hit his
third homer of the season already for the Yankees, who
are beating the Orioles two to one. The Rays are hot,
guys eight and oh and right now they're still hot.
They're beating the Athletics five zero bottom of the fifth inning,
(01:05:20):
so we'll see if they're gonna be nine and not.
To start the season, the Red Sox and Tigers were tied.
Not anymore. It's the Red Sox on top two to one,
top of the six and the Phillies have extended their
lead over the Reds four two, top of the fifth inning.
The Marlins holding on to their three run homer by
Brian's de la Cruz to beat the Mets right now
three to one. They're about to start the fourth inning.
Pirates on top of the White Sox one zero, top
(01:05:41):
of the fifth and it's these are all scoreless Mariners
on top of the Guardians two to one, top of
the fourth inning. Back to you guys, all right, thank
you very much. We will check with you a little
bit later on. Yeah, we don't know live verse is
the recorded When it comes to Monsey, Sam is just
(01:06:05):
enamored with that. I can tell how long is we
have one drop of Monsey saying yeah, and then when
she does more of a vocal fry when she does
it live yeah, I can tell someone audio engineer. I
try to do it exactly as the recording, and you do.
No one does a better Monsey impersonation than months and
months on and she heard personation, so you can't differentiate
(01:06:28):
between the two. Unbelievable. Um, all right, The leaders have
teed off finally at the Masters and Brooks kept just
hit his opening drive on the first hole so far left.
I think it landed in Atlanta. Oh, he just pulled
that thing into the woods. You know what, That makes
me feel better because sometimes I said, I just had
(01:06:49):
a conversation when the free we're talking about golf, and
I was saying, the most nervous that you are is
that first tea box, which everyone is looking. You kind
of work out of things, but that's when everyone does
the full evaluation of you, whether you can play or nine.
And so Brooks keeps, I mean that thing pulled bad.
We'll see where that thing landed. So rom is gonna
tea off right now again. Keepico leading going into the
(01:07:11):
final round by two shots. He has led three previous
majors going in the final round and one all three.
But we'll see how this goes with that openn' he drive.
I'm sure he'd like to call for a mulligan on
that one. All right, let's go of our list now,
where we stand this year top five finishers in the MVP.
H Do you have your list one, two, two, four,
(01:07:32):
five in order? I do have. Okay, so let's jazz
it up and let's go into your current number five.
Who checks in a number five on your MVP list? Okay,
number five on my list? Now I'm gonna try to
get the front Nacias right. But I remember his dad Sabonis,
So Demata Sabonis from Sacramento should be number five on
that list because he's my guy. I have sabonus at
(01:07:55):
number five. Look at there's a couple of reasons. One,
he leads the ligand rebound. He's second league in triple doubles,
shooting sixty two percent. Yeah, you averages nineteen points a game.
But Sacramento making the playoffs for the first time in forever.
So team individual he checks every box. I agree, I
have Sabonis at number five. I'll go next at number four. Okay,
(01:08:17):
at number four, I have Jason Tatum of the Boston Celtics,
averaging thirty points a game. Tatum is just continuing to
take his game to the next level. Last year made
first team All MBA. He'll do the same things this year.
So I got Jason Tatum checking in at number four
(01:08:39):
on my MVP list. I mean, I think we can't
get James Harden in that conversation a little bit, James
Harden kind of working it out there. All the votes
go to Joel Embiad and Philly Nut. We don't get
any love for James Harden doing his thing. No, you
got Harden at number four? No, I mean like thou,
I got Jason Tatum at number four. Who's your number four? Well,
(01:09:00):
my number four would be James hard because I think
James Harden was worthy of being up there. Because it
was tough for me to debate between James Harden and
KD because when I look at what KD has been
able to do for the teams that he's played on,
he kept both of them in the mix. But I'm
gonna go with James Harden and this one because his game.
Because remember we thought James Harden was done, that he
was over, he was washed up, but he's found his
(01:09:22):
stride in Philadelphia. Even though they run the game through
Joel and B James harden contributions are significant, all right,
So there you go at number three. I'll tanned off
to who's your number three and r MVP list, Well,
I'm gonna go at Yannis because I'm I got Yannis.
I got Yannis being third, and the reason why I
have Janni's third, like he look, he's fine, He's done
(01:09:43):
all the things that you should want an MVP to do.
He continues to dominate the game the way that it's
supposed to be done. He continues to make his way
to the file line. He's everging thirty one points and
all the stuff is all this stuff is like great,
but it's fine, like kind of over to Bucks. Over
the Bucks. They had the best record in the league
this year. Jannis is also my number three. Look, he's
(01:10:06):
averaging thirty one points a game. He's averaging twelve rebounds
a game, six assists. He also does it on the
defensive end. I mean Jannis has fallen into that category
as Lebron did back in the day, or Jordan where
they just stopped giving it to him because they got
tired of giving You could have been I mean, Michael
(01:10:26):
Jordan should have won I don't know, like eight MVP
awards and Lebron could have gone about eight MVP awards.
I think Jannis, who won back to back a couple
of years ago. But he checks into number three. My
number two is Joel Embiid. Yeah, you heard me right.
My number two is Mbid led the league in scoring
(01:10:47):
once again this year. He's had a tremendous season thirty
three points, ten rebounds a game, obviously Philadelphia is sitting
as the three seed in the East. But for many
of the reasons you just gave about James Harden, he
hasn't done it alone. So I have Joel embat as
my number two. Your number two, well, my number two
(01:11:10):
would be the guy that you must have a number one,
and that is the Joker. The Joker will be the
runner up this year. He has been fantastic. He's a
triple double waiting to happen. He can do it in
a variety of ways. You don't see big Man who
average twenty four points per game dropped dimes like my
Man does at a late teen nine point eight, which
(01:11:30):
is ridiculous. That he's almost like crushing it into regard
and just getting it done for the Nuggets. But at
some point we got to see them move beyond in
the postseason. So he's he's he's look, he's run up
to jo I can't get him three straight MVPs. All right,
So here we go. I'm gonna make my argument on
why Yokich is still the MVP, and then you can
(01:11:53):
give your argument on MBAT as far as Yokich versus
MBAT is concerned. If you look at the numbers this year.
Keep in mind Denver is the one seed in the
West as opposed to Philadelphia, which is a three seed
in the East. But outside of scoring, it's not even close.
Yokich averages more rebounds per game, he has a higher
shooting percentage, he has a higher three point percentage, He
(01:12:16):
obviously averages way more assists, almost ten assists per game,
and as far as triple doubles, it's concerned. How about
the fact that Yokich has twenty nine this year and
beat as One's. It's statistically not even close on who
has had the better regular season between Embiad and Yoki.
(01:12:40):
Yokich has better numbers. And I'm an Embiid fan and
he's been a runner off and maybe maybe it's just
time for him to do it. But I don't see
Yokich having the same supporting crew that Embiad has in Philadelphia.
So if I go by the numbers, plus that's the
fact that Denver is the number one seed in the West,
(01:13:03):
I gotta have your kiss, my number number one guy.
So the eyeball tist, the eyeball tist, not just not
just spread sheets, the eyeball test. So you're saying based
on the eyeball test, yo kids, looks like you're using
the eyeball test. Eyeball tist. I'm looking at the numbers here.
Any nine triple doubles to one? That's great between that
trip double, Like, we don't even like triple doubles. We
(01:13:24):
get on Russ about double double? How about double doubles?
Get eight to thirty nine? I think we called that
stat Padden. Didn't we call that when Russell Westbrook had
all those trible doubles. We were stat padding. We don't
care about triple doubles. I thought it was like a
meaningless stat. After Russell russ Brook took over for the big,
Jokis is shooting sixty three percent from the field, thirty
eight percent threes, eighty two percent of the freed to
(01:13:46):
are a line second one league and rebound. I don't know.
I'm just I mean, I mean, I maybe our criteria,
but you're you're going in bead one. I'm going, yo kid, Yeah,
because my eyes dominant force, dominant big man, dominant force,
it's over, and Doc Rivers told me it's over. I
use Celtics later. Is that why you kept Tatum off
your list? I mean, I mean, you got two, you
got two Philadelphia seventy six ers in your top four.
(01:14:09):
They've been so up and down. Jason Tatum and that
Cruisemen up and down, like James Harden is not up
and down. James Harden is saving himself for the postseason. Well,
this is a regular season award, all right, Greer disagree?
Those are our picks for the top five finishers in
the MVP. Vallady anyway, Uh, anybody wanted way in, who's
(01:14:30):
your MVP this year? Sam? Is it embiid or Yoki?
Who is the most Valuable Player regular season? I would
have to give it to himbid I think, you know,
yo Kitch obviously has the stats, but it would be
three years in a row winning it, right, And what
does that matter? Well? I meant to spread the love
around a little bit, A lot of what I would.
I love this. Wayne Gretzky won the MVP Award eight
straight years in the NHR. You know why because he
(01:14:52):
was the most get Okay, I get that, But Jordan
should have won more MVP. So should have Lebron. Uh
you know Bird of Magic had to go against each
But I mean the idea that we're like Wow, we're
tired of giving it to Jordan. Way, are you kidding me?
I think embiid um If you look at you know
he doesn't he play a little more defense than Yoki? Yes, yeah,
and so you know that's that's scoring. There's different metrics
(01:15:14):
to look at. But I think that we give it
to him Bead this year. Right, it's gonna be embiid
but it should be honest. It should be honest. I mean,
be honest. I mean, if you really go, why a
two play? I I wouldn't argue against Yannis again if
you look at his overall value to his team on
a team that did have the best record in the league.
Yannis is very much in the conversation. He won those
(01:15:35):
back to back MVPs out he got his two, and
the same thing is gonna happen to year gets he
got a couple, We're gonna spread around and Bead's gonna
win him. That's not the way it should work. You know.
It's like when I vote for the Heisman Trophy. It's
not a career thing. It's that season who was the
best player? But what do you place emphasis on and
what do you what do you hold the combination of everything.
(01:15:55):
It's a combinations, but it's your eyes. What's the combination
of things. I'm looking at numbers and I'm looking teams success. Yes,
and for Yokis, whose team is the number one team
in the West. And again twenty nine triple doubles to
one this year for embiid No. I mean that's not
a freak, no doubt about it. I mean that's a freak.
That is a sizeable margin it is. Yeah, all right,
(01:16:16):
coming up, we'll get ready. As we get back to
the masters. The leaders have teed off. We'll keep you updated.
This is Fox Sports Sunday, Steve Hartman and Bucky Brooks,

we've been watching the Masters for years and years and
years and years and years and years. Have you ever
been to Augusta, Nashal? Have you ever been? I have
not been to Augusta, Nashal, but it's on the buck
a list is one of the things that I like
to do. I've heard so much about, like to play,
(01:17:21):
but also like the little menu list they got. Like, yes,
I'm not a pimiento cheese guy, but I heard you
have to have Well you saw the prices there are
literally zero. I mean they something. They had one of
their correspondence I believe it was on the Golf channel
with twenty dollars. See how much food you can get
for twenty dollars. He was able to get four sandwiches,
(01:17:44):
a big drink, and three snacks all for twenty dollars.
And these are full sandwiches. You know, I got half
a sandwich. Wow. So they sell their sandwiches for like
a buck fifty each. Big drinks. I love guys that
are you a big tradition guy. I mean, do you
appreciate history? And you know, you know, you know how
(01:18:05):
I operate, Bucky, But I'm always curious, especially from those
that actually played a game at the highest level as
you did. I mean, do you have a great appreciation
of the history of the NFL? Did you? I mean
guys like Kobe he was a fanatic about history of
the game, and knowing all these guys, a lot of
golfers very fanatical. How about you. You know, It's always
(01:18:26):
been important for me to know the history of the game,
and that's in every sport. Being growing up a sports junkie,
a sports fanatic. I loved all those things. I love
looking at the old animals. I loved understanding what the
wreckers were, the numbers and how it broke broke. Now,
so for me, yeah, I am a traditionalist in that regard.
Gary Player, there he is when he teed off at
(01:18:46):
this year's mass. Look at that guy, eighty seven year
look at that oh man, don't like kick guy doesn't
eat And that's what we gotta. You must have a
Jackal Lane power juicer. I gave one of those to
my parents and the annivers I think rules he has
to have something, he has to power of juice. Well,
he's been a fitness guy his entire life. You know,
there was a lot of arguments, say they were talking
(01:19:07):
about on the Golf Channel watching Phil Mickelson still get
after it right now. Phil's at three hundred by the way,
two hundred on the day t eighteen. You know, he's
fifty two years old now, fifty two, fifty three years old,
one of major at almost fifty one a couple of
years ago. And his training versus that of Tiger Woods
and overdoing it in the gym, I mean, Tiger's body
(01:19:28):
has paid the price bay to be. You know, as
an athlete, you know when we talk about pushing weights,
getting stronger and everything like that as opposed to flexibility,
where do you stand on that in terms of conditioning
for any sport. No, conditioning is still a very important part,
but you have to make sure that you're doing things
that are conducive. So as you mix in the weight training,
(01:19:49):
you got to make sure you have the flexibility part
of it, the stretching, the yoga in those things. Tiger
Woods did go a little above and beyond with the
fitness stuff was super bulky and all that stuff and
kind of lost his way. But fitness is a thing,
and I'm sitting here looking at you, guy, Gary Player.
We're talking about that on the other side. All right,
we will a lot how things happening on this Easter Sunday.
Don't go anywhere, keep it right here. Much more coming
(01:20:11):
up on Fox Sports Sunday. Well, here we are on
this Easter Sunday, and there's a lot to celebrate today
as we have the final round of the Masters going
on right now, final day the NBA regular season, Major
League Baseball going on. I don't know how many people
out there believe that April April is the best month
(01:20:32):
on the sports calendar. I know a lot do. Once again,
we are broadcasting live from the tirac dot Com studios.
Tirac dot com. We're gonna help get you there, and
I'm a match selection, fast free shipping, free road hazard protection,
over ten thousand recommended installers, tirac dot com the way
tire buying should be. Of course, I say April is
the favorite month of the year if you're certainly a
(01:20:54):
baseball fan, because the baseball season begins, we have March Madness,
that flips into the month of April for the final four.
You got the Masters in April, the NBA playoffs begin
in April, NHL playoffs beginning in April. But I don't know, Bucky.
I think there's a lot of people out there saying,
I'm sorry, what sports are you talking about? There is
(01:21:14):
only one sport. It's called football. And I'm like, NFL
drafts in April. Yes, So, I mean, if you were
to rank the months, where is April? Is April top two?
Top three? Number one? Is it bigger than September? What
(01:21:35):
is the ultimate sports month for Bucky Brooks? I mean,
April is a great month because you have the nc
Double A culminating, you have NBA cracking now, you have
the NHO ramping up, you have interest in the NFL Draft,
you have to kick off to baseball, and then you
have this golf tournament, the Masters. I can't imagine there
(01:21:58):
being a more uh flavorful, impact sports month than in April. Yeah,
April wins. I mean okay, now, okay, so do you
have a better month? I mean, again, if you're an
NFL fan, you do have the draft in April? Okay, Okay,
would you rather watch the big big story or would
you rather watch actual games? October is the best sports
(01:22:20):
month period, hands down, end of discussion. How many how
many significant happens in October? Okay, world Series? You have
the World Series. You have college football going on, and
it's and it's you're into the meat of the schedule. Oh,
no meaningful game, but the conference game. You're finished with
your non conference September. Octember is a bigger month for
(01:22:42):
college but you still have NFL college football. You have
the NBA starting or what does it start? It starts
in round October. No college of basketball is getting practicing.
It doesn't start to Chris practicing. What are you talking
without October? Is this? By October there's no more tennis?
May do those football, football, and basketball. But again, how
(01:23:06):
many people do you remember a couple of years ago,
where was it in Tennessee that half a million people
were in the streets and the pouring rain at the NBA,
they're desperate for something to do. No draft, but that's fun.
Let's not the real season. Let's let's talk about and
if I want to this is great with Bucky all right,
let me ask this man has been married to this
(01:23:26):
league for a long time, all right, in a variety
of capacity. If we're talking about single events associated with
the National Football League, Bucky, super Bowl, Draft, ye, playoffs,
(01:23:47):
start the regular season. I mean, where does where does
the NFL Draft fall for you? Now you're a personnel guy,
so I would imagine pretty much look outside of the
super Bowl. The draft is right after that, because you
know where the draft does. The draft gives everyone hopeless. See,
the draft is the official beginning of the next season.
(01:24:08):
And after the draft and after you see all the
new toys and everything like that and everyone gets their
grades from the draft knicks, we are now time to
believe that this is the year right see year for
our team. Our team can put it off from worst
to first. Our team can have been knocking on the door.
It is time now because we got the draft capital
(01:24:30):
and after being teased all Draft weekend with the b
roll the hotlights of all of these fabulous prospects that
are coming into the league, to then take about what
you're getting on draft night with free agency, there is
nothing like April to set it off for NFL fandom.
Doesn't this kind of change though, depending on what team
(01:24:51):
you're a fan of, Like if you're a Rams fan,
what do you have to look forward to in April? This? This,
this could be, this could be the year because remember
two years ago to cincin edtie, Bengals were terrible and
they found their way to the Super Bowl. But even
if you're a Rams fan, all right, so let's let's
let's use you bow as an Eagles fan. Right, you say, well,
(01:25:11):
but aren't you also interested in what the Cowboys are doing,
what the Giants are doing, what the Commanders are doing.
Teams in your division, teams in your conference. Eagles fans
don't care about that. I like to watch like what
the Cowboys do so I can like take notes and
laugh about it later when it okay, they fall in
their face. But yeah, see here, here's the beauty of it.
(01:25:32):
It's such an inexact science. One of the things that
always got me going and for years, way way back
in the day from people listen, I worked with a
guy named Philly Billy Warrendell. Bill Warrendell was associated with
Our Lads Draft Guide. Our Lads Draft Guy was like
the first comprehensive book that would break down players. There
(01:25:55):
was nothing like it at the time. And then we're
going back thirty years, right, yeah, our list. And then
of course Billy was my partner for many, many years,
and so we would laugh when the day after the
draft everyone's grading the draft and I'm like, how can
you grade a draft when no one's actually played a game.
(01:26:15):
You could say, well, we're grading the draft on needs
and did they address their needs and everything else. I go,
but that doesn't do results. So Billy and I decide,
and this goes back to the mid nineties, will grade
the draft three years after. We'll hand out the grades.
For instance, the day after the nineteen ninety eight draft
(01:26:35):
and we worked on the Chargers Flagships station, the San
Diego Union Tribune gave the Chargers an A plus for
their draft because they had selected Ryan Leaf. Oh yeah,
and moved up got our guy from number three to
number two to get Ryan Leaf A plus. We got
(01:26:56):
our guy. Yeah, beautiful execution. We graded that draft three
years later, game on a f It's a disaster. So,
I mean, that's the thing about the draft, Well, it
was enough. It won't beyond the fact that he couldn't play.
There was other circumstances involved with him um anyway, So
(01:27:17):
that's the uncertainty of the draft. I just do not
grade a draft the day after? Do you do that?
I don't like doing it. I know they ask you
to do that, I don't. How do you How do
you grade a draft when the on one's ever actually
played a game? Yeah? The only thing you can do
is talking about where you had the kid ring. Doesn't
everybody believe they had an a draft? Doesn't everybody walk
(01:27:37):
away from their draft? Same? We just we got everybody
we wanted. Yeah, this confirmation buys everyone. Ye, thirty two
teams all claim, you know what, perfect, everything fell our way.
But it looks like it looks like family feud. You know,
in family feud when they're getting down to it and
they're asking grandma to name a couple of different things.
Grandma name a famous song, and grandma doesn't. Everyone's like,
(01:27:59):
good answer, good answer, good answer, good answer. And then
it's like, that's what it is. That's what happens on drafted.
Everyone is in there, Hey, this is our pick. We
love them, and then we do it. And then what
you'll see, because the part did we see on TV,
we'll see the general manager didn't look around at a
staff and they're high five and they're shake hands and
(01:28:21):
all that, and in three years later to dude is
out of the league. In camp play, I had a
privilege back in the Stone Age when I worked for
the Raiders of being in the room as picks were
being made. Al Davis and Ron Wolfe to Be and
Tom Flores By the way, all three of those guys
are in the Hall of Fame. I bet you had
to be real quiet. There was a lot of quiet.
I wanted to hear the conversation. I remember one time
(01:28:45):
they had a quarterback on the board that they had
circled as like this is back in the twelve round.
Can you imagine twelve rounds back in the day, set
of seven anyway, that they had circled as an absolute
must get in like the sixth round, and are two
picks away, and the pick right before him picks him
(01:29:05):
right before, and they're like, you're kidding me. So they
wanted to get a quarterback there, and there was another
guy that they were absolutely convinced could be the guy.
And this assistant coach who had done the scouting is saying,
I'm telling you, this is the guy. This is the guy,
this is the guy. You know. Mister Davis looks at
him like okay, now, Al Davis was the de facto
general manager as well for the team they put the
(01:29:26):
pick in. I don't want to mention the name. Let's
just say that the yea he passed away in the
last year, Rusty Hilger out of Oklahoma State. Oh yeah.
He was convinced that Rusty Hilger was going to be
a not just a decent NFL player, like he was
going to be a future starting quarterback for the Raiders.
(01:29:46):
Didn't work out. Didn't work out, you know, And that's
that's the story of these NFL drafts. By the way,
with Bucky and Bucky and I do our Saturday show together,
we get the extra special treat a couple of weeks
here with him on a Sunday. But well, the next
couple of weeks, we really have to start breaking it
out of draft. How now you do a mock draft, right,
I do do a mock drafts, And I'm one of
the things. And how often do you update that? I
(01:30:08):
think I have one more that would be updated to
like the Monday before the draft starts, do you believe?
Because everyone loves speculating on trades, I mean, wee, we
keep looking at Indie at number four, right, and that
the whole world is thinking, are they going to take
a quarterback? At the end of it, the phone's ringing
off the hook. Same thing with Arizona at three. The
(01:30:29):
phone's ringing off the hook. Right. Yeah, you think there
will be a lot of trades come draft day. I
think we have reached an era where they're more trades
because the younger generation of general managers don't mind moving
off picks to get the players they want. So yeah,
we'll see a flurry of activity. I don't know if
all of that flurries want to be associated with quarterback
(01:30:50):
or quarterbacks we'll see. The guy that could be in
play is probably Will That is interestingly just because his
play exceeds what Anthony Brichison has done on the field.
And I would say they hindon Hooker's play. He's both
of their play on the field. But let's just say
Will Levis is a hot name that everyone is talking
(01:31:11):
about keeping out him after the set, all right, I
want to get to this on the other side, speaking
of the NFL Draft, if Bucky Brooks could be in
any one draft room for the draft later this month,
whose draft room would he most want to be in
(01:31:31):
we'll find out. This is Fox Sports Sunday, Steve Harman
and Bucky Brooks. Fox Sports Sunday. We are live from
the ti iraq dot Com studios. Now much movement here
on the leaderboard at the Masters. Kepka and Ram both
missed birdie putts at number two, one of the four
part fives on this course where you need to get
Birdie's both walked away with pars So Brooks. Kepka is
(01:31:54):
still at eleven under, Ram at nine under, Hobbling at
eight under. They're all even par for the day. One
guy making a move might be a little too little
too late is Jordan's Speethe, who has five top threes
at the Masters. He loves playing the Masters, of course,
won it back in twenty fifteen. But he's four under
(01:32:15):
on the days five unders now tied for sixth on
the leaderboard, but no one yet quite making a serious move.
Russell Henley, who I would say ninety nine point nine
nine percent of our listeners could not pick out of
a lineup. He might have heard the name Russell Henley.
He's been a round golf for a while. He has
(01:32:36):
gotten to seven under, so he is now four shots
out of the lead city and sole possession of a
fourth place. All right, So I've been thinking about this
to ask Bucky Brooks who is I mean, Bucky? Once again,
for our listeners out there that may have heard you
but don't understand your odyssey in terms of your post
(01:32:58):
NFL playing rear, what roles have you played in association
with the NFL since you played the game. So, after
retiring in nineteen ninety nine, I immediately joined the front
office the Seattle Seahawks as a scout. I spent three
years with the Seahawks, and then I spent four years
(01:33:20):
with the Carolina Panthers up into two thousand and seven.
At that point, I made a pivot turn and started
chasing some media dreams. Started as a writer Sports Illustrated
before I started doing TV stuff, and I've been doing
that ever since. So since two thousand and seven to now,
I've been in the media world doing all kinds of
(01:33:41):
stuff every platform you see, I have been able to
talk about ball, all right. So for media people like
myself who never played the game, I did work with
an organization to give me some insight that again, unless
you work for an organization, you really have no access too.
But I mean you were working in the bowels of
(01:34:01):
these operations with the Panthers, with the Seahawks, in putting
together teams every year. I mean that was your job.
So not only are you familiar with those franchises, but
you need to be familiar with everybody else. You get
to know how certain organizations operate, who's in charge, you know,
(01:34:22):
what is their individual philosophies and putting a roster together.
So knowing all that as we get ready for this
twenty twenty three draft just weeks away, if you were
to be allowed into the draft room of one team
for this year's draft, which team would you choose? There's
(01:34:46):
so many teams with so many different things that can
kind of put them over the top. And man, so
I'm sitting here looking at the number of teams with
the number of picks, and I'm sitting here looking at
my old teams to Seattle Seahawks, and I'm thinking about
Pete Carroll and I'm thinking how Pete Carroll moving on
(01:35:08):
from Russell Wilson. But yet he benefits because Geno Smith
becomes the come back player of the year. They have
picked number five and picked number twenty in the first round.
They have an opportunity to really really put their team
together in a situation where they can go right back
to competing for titles with that fifth and that twentieth
(01:35:31):
pick to go with the players that they brought on board.
You saw him bringing Julian Love, They brought Jaron Reid over.
They have Bobby Wagner coming back. The defense is taking
hold because of the guys that they have on the perimeter,
Take Willing and the young safties Kobe Bryant and those guys.
And so I'm just sitting there at five knowing that,
man if I can just get a dominant defensive playmaker,
(01:35:53):
someone that can play in the middle field like a
Jalen Carter, and then come back with pick twenty, knowing
that I can then fortify my offense because I have
dk Metcalff and Tyler Lockett. But man, what if I
added another playmaker outside to hip Gino Smith go from
comeback player of the year to maybe most valuable player.
(01:36:14):
I would just be excited to sit in on those meetings.
And they have two second round picks. Yeah, so they're
sitting at five, twenty thirty seven, and fifty two. They
got the extra first round pick and second round pick
in the Russell Wilson trade. Yeah. Wow, a lot of capital.
I mean we I mean seriously, going into this past season,
we all had our you know, our list of predictions
(01:36:35):
for the NFL season. We do that list out there,
and they and I picked Seattle to be the worst
team in the league. Yeah. I just thought they they're
gonna they're gonna tank the season looking for a quarterback
of the future, and that was going to be it.
Instead they go nine and eight, And now they're sitting
there with a nine and eight team sitting pretty sitting
(01:36:56):
with a quarterback that showed after all these years that
he and do it at a high level. And you've
got four picks in the first fifty two mm, I mean,
like there's so by the way, they have all the
remaining picks three through seven, So they have all their
picks they have, you know, they have nine picks on
this draft. They have everything. Four in the top fifty two.
When you have four in the top fifty two, so
(01:37:18):
take us in, all right, So you work for that
organization all the way back in the day, different regime.
But how would a team that has four picks in
the top fifty two set up for the draft. Um, well,
you just know like you're gonna be busy and you're
gonna get calls. You can get You're gonna be busy,
you can get calls. And then you're trying to figure
out how to parlay all of those picks. Do you
want to part let those picks and move up? Do
(01:37:40):
you want to sit and pick? Do you believe you
have enough matches at the pick numbers, meaning that when
you look at the supply and demand. So if I
say that most drafts have eighteen twenty four guys that
are rated as consensus first round picks. Okay, so if
I'm sitting there at five, I know them get a
great player twenty Okay, what is it are we most
(01:38:02):
likely to get? Which position is the deepest at that point?
Do we have a better chance of getting a high
end offensive tackle or a corner or anything like that,
Like that's how you're viewing it. So a high end
edge rush or whatever that is, whatever the pick is,
and you're trying to give yourself a chance to make
sure you nail those players. But then with those second
(01:38:23):
round picks to multiples, you're trying to figure out who
could slide out. And if someone that we have high
on our board slides out of the first round, do
you want to package those picks and go get the player?
And so you're constantly weighing and deliberating over pick or players.
Do we pick or do we go with the players?
Like do we want to draft picks or the players?
And so it's all of that conversation and when it's
(01:38:44):
going well, everyone is on the same page. Well, I
mean go back to like you said, you could be
sitting there with a player targeted and he's there on
the board, but you didn't see that player drop. I mean,
this is what happened the Green Bay Packers and Aaron
Rodgers back in the day. They weren't planning to take
a quarterback. Why would they take a quarterback. They had
one of the best quarterbacks in the league and Brett Farr.
(01:39:05):
But they're looking at their board and they're like, Aaron
Rodgers is still on the board. We gotta take this guy.
You have to take him in. The same could be
said for how they might have viewed Jordan Love when
Jordan Love was there and people talked about, oh they
moved it up. Yeah, but maybe they moved up because
they didn't expect him to be falling to them and
they want to make sure that they got him. So
(01:39:26):
it's all the mechanics that are there. Maybe they had
a higher grade on him, Maybe they had a top
ten grade on Jordan Love and when he started slipping
and slipped out of the top ten and slipped into
the teams, they're like, you know what, let's go get
our guy. And that might have been a conversation. By
the way, now, speaking of the draft, and we'll be
doing a lot of draft talk over the next couple
(01:39:46):
of weeks. Was good stuff here. Hey, Bo, you're sitting
at number ten with your Eagles, and I know you're
a big Bijan Robinson fan. Yes, you would love to
see Bijan Robinson and an Eagles unit from I think so,
I well, my whole thing, and uh, the Eagles have
to pay Jalen Hurts uh sooner rather than later money. Um,
(01:40:08):
So if you're going to be paying Jalen Hurts all
that money which he earned, um, you should probably like
supplement him. I I have a whole thing where like
I don't like the idea of drafting like a Nolan
Smith at ten which I've seen a lot. Uh, you
have to score points in the NFL. Now, you're not
going to stop anybody like you can't stop like Patrick
(01:40:29):
hold on, I'm looking at a mock draft here by
someone named Bucky Brooks. Hey, Bucky Brooks. This is a
couple of weeks ago this year, number two. Is this
your second one? At that time? At that time he
had well, I mean it's always update, but at that
time he had Paris Johnson, the Ohio State tackle, a
(01:40:49):
number ten I saw. I've seen that too. That's not
a sexy pig. But that's typically typically with the Eagles.
That's what they do. They draft, They draft bigs, which
is not a bad thing. I'm a big guy. Or
they draft playmakers, right and so playmakers we've seen them
in recent years draft wide receivers up top um in
those things they normally don't worry as much about, like
(01:41:11):
the defensive back end, the corners and all the other stuff.
They said, pass rushers, offensive linemen, an offensive playmaker, that's
where they go. Already you stand now on your number
ten pick with the Eagles, Well, I mean you have
to wait until I have enough. Oh, so that is
your most recent mock draft. Then that might be its
mock draft number two. That might be it, that might
be it. I can't remember that you can't remember because
(01:41:32):
we keep spitting them out like you are Lucky Brooks
click bait. We could do a mock draft every day
and people would like ring. Actually, there are some of
your compatriots that are seemingly doing a new mock draft
every day every day. Yeah. Something else. Well, I I
have also kind of talked to myself like you were
mentioning receivers. I've talked myself into a Jackson Smith and
Jigba at ten two another one. Just yeah, we just
(01:41:54):
we're just gonna play video games. We're just gonna absolutely
aliterate everyone on office act Smith and Nigma Smith and
a j Brown. Ten is just an awkward spot for
a teams like the Eagles that don't really have many needs.
It's a bonus pick. Yeah, And that's how I look
at it, and that's why I'm fine with like Bjan
Rollinson or something like that. As he to go off
this conversation, Harman like they red shirted their first round
(01:42:17):
pick last year. Jordan Davis like we haven't even we
haven't even seen them and I will say this to
SOBO can understand this, like if j Carter gets to ten,
Jalen Carter is going to be a Philadelphia Eagles. Oh yeah, yeah,
because because because they will be very confident that they
have everything in place. They have multiple Georgia former Georgia
(01:42:38):
teammates there and so they have that luxury. And I
can pretty much guarantee like they have they have a
second first round pick two, right, yeah, I think they
will probably trade that pick away so they can have
two number one picks next year. When Howie Roseman does it,
like the power that you have when you have multiple
(01:42:59):
first round on picks, that currency is invaluable. And now
that they will backstop Jalen Hursts after he played so well.
But in theory, they had those multiple picks to put
them in a situation where they could always go and
get a quarterback later. And so you take those two
next year and you're always in a position that if
you ever needed to, you could. Yeah, vanessat number thirty,
(01:43:20):
there's no way he's going to drop the thirty, is he?
I mean never know? Like he I mean he has started.
He hasn't started. By the way, if you're wondering about
Bijean Robins. According to Bucky Brooks, h he has Bijean
going twenty one to the Chargers to give them the
Austin Eckler Bijean Robinson dynamic duo. Well, just running back,
just for one year. I know Eckler's gone after this year. Yeah,
(01:43:43):
running backs, running backs. I hate to say it, but
they're they're dinosaurs. They're extinct, like they can move on,
which was why it would be tough. As much as
I would love to see be Jean Robinson go to Philadelphia,
and I can only imagine the headache that the combination
of Jalen Hursts and Bijean Robinson would cause. They're meeting
running backs. Oh, I promise you the Chargers will run
Eckler into the ground this year. They will. Whatever he's
(01:44:05):
got left in the tank, they're going to use it
all year. They need a big, physical back. All right, Well,
let's find out what's trending right now. While we're talking NFL.
We got the final day of the NBA regular season.
We also have a golf tournament going on right now. Yeah,
there's a lot going on. So Dwayne Casey apparently has
announced that he is out as Pistons head coach and
(01:44:26):
that he's going to move into the front office. This
is according to the Athletic and according to ESPN, and
that's all they've said. That he said he is out
and that he's moving into the front office. The Houston
Rockets are declining to pick up fourth year option for
their head coach, Stephen Silas. He and the Rockets are
supposed to meet on Monday and formalize this breakup. The
(01:44:47):
Rockets already have a list of potential head coaches that
they would like to hire. Emt Udoka formally of the Celtics,
Kenny Atkinson who is an assistant with the Golden State Warriors,
Frank Vogel, former Lakers head coach, and even Nick Nurse,
who has said that he's going to take time after
he said a couple of weeks ago that he was
going to take time after the Raptors season to like
(01:45:09):
think about it. He seemed a little frustrated with how
things are going, specifically with load management. So they already
have him on their list as a possible coach. And yes,
the final round at the Masters continues. Brooks Kepka is
still at the top of the leader board, he is
eleven under par, but John ram is inching closer. He's
still in second place, but now ten under par. In
(01:45:31):
Major League Baseball, the benches just cleared in Pittsburgh following
a play at the plate involving shortstop O'Neil Cruise and
catcher Sebi Savala. O'Neil Cruise was running from third base
to home and catcher Seby Savala caught a ball that
was not a great throw and tried to, you know,
tag him out, and Cruise slid and it looked like
his knee got stuck under him and he was in pain.
(01:45:54):
He is officially out of the game. Words were said
and the benches cleared out. The game is back and running.
But this just happened, and the Pirates are beating the
White Sox one zero, bottom of the seventh inning. The
Yankees still holding onto their lead over the Orioles. Excuse me,
over the Orioles. Four to two is the score, bottom
of the seventh inning, and the Rays are just hot.
(01:46:14):
Brandon Lao hit a grand slam and now they're beating
the A's ten zero. Bottom of the eighth inning. Red
Sox still on top of the Tigers four to one,
bottom of the ninth. They are playing in Detroit and
they're about to start the bottom of the ninth inning.
Phillies beating the Reds four to two. Top of the eighth.
The Marlins have extended their lead over the met six
to two. They're about to start the seventh inning. Astro's
(01:46:36):
boo on top of the Twins four to one, top
of the sixth, Brewers beating the Cardinals two to one,
top of the fifth, Rangers on top of the Cups
five two, top of the fifth, Nationals, and the Rockies
are still scoreless in the second inning. Who and the
Lakers announce now Dennis Shrewder for their game today. Back
to you guys, Yeah, everybody a lie. There will be
no shakeup in the Western Conference. These games is so
(01:47:00):
predictable as you get down the last couple of games,
every team that needs to win wins. Okay, there's not
going to be any hiccups along the way. So, uh,
you know you said potentially there's different scenarios as far
as the four or five, six, seven, it's concerned. None
of that's gonna shake out, all right, whatever you're looking
at right now, the Lakers will be the seven and
(01:47:22):
the Clippers is going to be the five, and the
Warriors are gonna be the six. The Pelicans are going
to be the No. I don't want the Clippers in
the fit. Well, I mean, let me ask Let me
ask you this though. Let me ask you this. If
you were in the Western Conference, if you're the Warriors,
are the Clippers, who would you rather face in the
(01:47:43):
first round? Would you rather face the Sons or the Kings?
The Kings? So the six gets the Kings, right, the
five gets the right, which is why I don't want
the Clippers to get No. No, no, no, no, no, no
no no no. I think no, no, no, I know
I can't. The Phoenix Suns, I think they're gonna win.
(01:48:06):
If they're healthy, they're gonna win the Western Conference. Who's
gonna Clippers? No, the Souns. I think they're gonna win
the Clippers if the Clippers are healthy. Um, I don't
I want I obviously I want my Clippers. See. So
he worked out, Yes, another he has another week until
the right but he worked out, and they haven't said anything.
(01:48:27):
I just you know, it's it's a matter of Kevin
Durantt is the greatest score right now in the game,
and then you have Devin Booker. You can't. I don't
see how you stop them healthy, that's all. You haven't
put them down. You got to play physical and you
can't play. But they you can play physical against KDS
still gonna score. He's so good. Who's gonna stop? True?
(01:48:47):
But we don't. I don't know. I don't know if
the Clippers have enough Jill like you know what I mean?
We have the man like, no, you gotta Monc is typical.
I did the same thing when when when you are
a fan of a team and now it's tournament time
or playoff time, whatever it may be, you got all
these negative thoughts going in d I don't think if
(01:49:12):
you want to go, we want to go. You want
to knock out the chills? How great would it be
if it was a Western Conference finals between the Clippers
and the Sun. By the way, I'll tell you, no,
I don't like the Lakers, Moncy. I have a friend
of mine and he has access to He's been a
long time season ticket older the Clippers, and I'm not
(01:49:34):
making this up. So he has asked me if I
can he wants to partner with somebody on a couple
of tickets season tickets that he has. All right now,
these seats and this is next year at crypto dot
Com Arena formerly stables. Um, are the two seats on
the floor right next to the visitors bench. Nice? Four seats? Nice? Okay,
(01:49:59):
so that's two tickets forty one home games right. Uh.
With these tickets, you not only are sitting on the
floor the two seats directly next to the visitors bench,
you also have VIP dinner to you every night you're
at the game, VIP parking, and more importantly, access to
the VIP bathroom. Oh yeah, I like those. Yeah, so
(01:50:21):
the two tickets. Must she should get on that. Yeah,
how do How are you gonna take me? No, no, must,
We're gonna have you. We're gonna have you. Put like
a little deposit down, okay, little deposit here. Here is
the price of these tickets. I'm not making this up.
Are you ready? No, three hundred and thirty six thousand dollars.
But but here's the good thing. You don't have to
(01:50:44):
pay it all at once. You can do four payments
of eighty four thousand dollars. Perfect. Well, now I can
do that if you're doing consecutive and lay it down
to only eighty four grand a month. So um, but
if you want them, should I put your name in?
Let me let let me, let me talk to my banker. Yeah,
but for her plus one? Yeah, yeah, I'm not making
(01:51:06):
We got this at this he thought, maybe that I
knew some people that might be interested. For sure, for sure, Bucky,
can I borrow about eighty four thousand dollars? We got
this and just about the first eighty four thousand shack
of the months, and boom you got those? Can't we
swap out? I'm sure we can do like a little swap,
a little a little swap like clippers tickets for that.
(01:51:27):
I'm sure that's a little stag on the tickets at
crypto dot com. What do you think they're going to
be in that new arena in a a couple of years?
Oh no, look that that new arena, because it's down
the street from where that new arena is gonna it's
gonna be fabulous. Oh it's gonna It's so crazy though,
the thing that that new arena is down the street
from what I will always know as the Great Western Form,
even though it's what Keenan and Kia form or whatever.
(01:51:49):
But to think that that was like the Lakers spot,
and the Clippers have kind of like taking that port over. Well,
first of all, the updated Forbes list of the ten
most wealthy people in the world, Steve Bomber, the Clippers owner,
is checking in at number ten with eighty billion plus
and otherwise he has enough money to buy the entire
(01:52:10):
league quite easily and still have plenty of billions left over.
So I a couple of billion for the new arena.
So yeah, prepare yourself. But yeah, if you're just wondering
how those tickets go, that's face fight. That's sets a
sizeable chunk of change. By the way, John rom birdied
(01:52:32):
the third hole, so he got to ten under part
You heard Monsey talk about that. Watching Brooks kepca right
now on the part three fourth hole, and he's going
to be putting right now, maintaining a one shot lead
if anybody gets close to those top guys. Is this
(01:52:54):
a part putt here? I don't know, unless he just
stuck his drive. Let's find out what this is for
keepca right now. I have to admit, once we're done,
I'm gonna be all entrenched in this masters here. The
back nine is when you just start feeling into it.
You're really into it here. So we got the fourth
hole here and kept it seems like he's very dressed
up for Masters, when it didn't seem like he kind
(01:53:15):
of like notch. I mean, it just seems like he
seems like if you know you're gonna win, you can
That was for Bogeye. We now have a tie atop
the leader board. So Kepka has now bogeyed the hole.
Keepca's out there looking like and Rams birdie. So they
are now tied at ten under par. All right, it's
(01:53:38):
often running for two guys, two of the great golfers
out there, both looking for that green jack and be
part of that champions dinner. All right, We'll continue on
with the coverage of the Masters, final day of the
NBA regular season, all kinds of NFL draft news, keep
it right here. This is Fox Sports Sunday. Yeah, that's it,
Steve Harbin and Bucky Brooks. This it's Fox Sports Sunday,
(01:54:01):
and we are live from the ti iraq dot com studios. So,
as we mentioned, John Ram and Brooks, Kepcar now tied
for the lead at the Masters, both sitting at ten
under part and really bucket when you think about this,
Look what's that steak with these two guys. You got
John Ram right now, the number three ranked player in
(01:54:22):
the world, very much a part of the PGA Tour,
and Brooks Kepka, the defector who left the PGA Tour
to go to the Live tour. So this is live
versus PGA big names, Masters champions. You know, this is
this you go forever, you get that green jacket and
never have to give it up. So there's a lot
at steak. If one of these guys, or which one
(01:54:43):
of these guys ultimately could win the green jacket live
and let live this is this would be interesting to
see if Bruce Kepka can finish it out. And if
you finish it, I want to see if they're really
gonna take the pitch on the eight, you know. To me,
that's the thing that I want to I mean, yeah,
Greg Norman, is that they were all gonna get all
the live golfers together, and there were seventeen or eighteen
(01:55:06):
by the way, Phil's three hundred on the days at
four under. These people aren't out of it yet, no,
uh and um. But yeah, he said, if a live
golfer wins. We're gonna get a group shot of all
of us together on that eighteenth green, so unbelievable. I
don't think they'll show that on TV. No, no, that
(01:55:27):
would be good. It definitely will not show that on TV.
Victor Hoblin is hanging in. He's part every hole so far.
He's still at eight under. And Gary Woodland there's a
he's not anonymous because he did win the US Open
a few years ago, but he's four under unders realm
and he has now gotten to seven under. Par Speech
(01:55:49):
is at five under, Candley's at five under. So these
people right now, with Ram and Kepka at best sort
of holding steady um, a lot of guys have a
chance to get back into it. Whether we'll not be
a factor, and we will get this final round done today.
It's important. It's important for us to get it done today.
(01:56:11):
So we're talking earlier about tradition and the tradition like
no other at the Masters. And again I've talked to
a number of golfers over the years who have been
Masters champions and ask them why is what's so special?
I mean, we talk about majors. Why is it different
if you won the US Open? Are the Open Championship
of the PGA Championship as opposed to the Masters, And
(01:56:34):
they said, it's the tradition. It is the tradition. They
just you know, the champions dinner, you're treated like royalty,
even if you're Danny Willett or Charles Schwartzel. And somehow
you I won't say luck but unexpectedly, you know, win
(01:56:55):
a Masters and all of a sudden you're in the
same room with Tiger and Jack a Gary player Tom
Watson and it doesn't matter. It doesn't get the same
treatment once you've done that green jacket. And there's something
about it. As a kid, I just remember watching the Masters,
and there's something about when you create traditions. And so
(01:57:16):
as much as we can talk about the other trophies
that are given out when you win a major, there's
something about like seeing someone don the green jacket. I mean,
there's just something about it. And they have been able
to create this aura around this tournament that separates it
(01:57:36):
from the others. You know, we can talk about the
British Open, but the British Open plays at different spots
every year, yes they did, like the Masters is always
at Augusta. You know, what the course is going to be. Like.
They can change depend locations and all the other stuff,
but you know exactly what you're getting each and every year,
and so their tradition has been able to really stand
(01:57:58):
the test of time, no doubt, especially the back nine.
I mean, when you get to the back nine, you
get down to Amen Corner and beyond, you know these holes.
Everybody listening says, I know that hole. I know everything
about that hole, and then you're's the anticipation why, I mean,
there's just that. It's amazing to me when you think
of the foresight of Bobby Jones, who was the greatest
(01:58:22):
golfer in the world at the time, retiring from competitive
golf at age twenty eight, never played as a professional,
was always an amateur and having the dream of having
creating a golf course, and how it is that you
create a course. There's so much risk reward on those
(01:58:44):
closing holes. Water plays a big part of it. Do
you go for the flag? Do you play it safe?
But these holes are so beautifully designed. You know, the
thirteenth and the fifteenth holes where you're you're you're shooting
at a green, but you could end up in the water.
You could get an eagle, but to get a bogey.
It's just amazing how they were able to figure this
(01:59:06):
out in creating Augusta National. Yeah, because it challenges you.
It challenges you, like visually, you have to make hard
decisions on how you want to attack, Uh, each green?
Do you want to be aggressive or do you want
to lay up? Um? How can you play it? It's
just a it's a great eve. He that's gonna roll
(01:59:29):
back down the hill. Woodland kind of achieve was hoping. Yeah,
he didn't get the backs from well you can see
you see the undulation there. He hit it a little
too far, too far, and now he's gonna have a
straight downhill putch. So Gary Whoodland, who had got to
seven under, gonna be hard pressed to hang on to that.
Um yeah, I just I'm I'm always amazed when you
(01:59:49):
think about golf courses, like look at look at visually,
how that looks just like right down the thing you're
just talking about, not a major hill, just part three.
He's the way it kind of look at all landed
right there that was can't lay that's trying to get
a looks like he's in Bertie position to get back
to five hundred. What's your favorite club in a bag?
A favorite club that I play is probably like a
(02:00:11):
little seven hour seven iron. You know, when you pull
that out, you're gonna hit it. Yeah, Yeah, you're gonna
smack that. All right, We're gonna smack it. As far
as this closing round of the Masters plus NBA talk
coming up, Fox Sports Sunday, Golf rolling along on this
Easter's Sunday. This is Fox Sports Sunday, and we are
broadcasting live from the ti Irac dot Com studios, Tirac
(02:00:32):
dot com. We're gonna help get you there. I on
Matt Selection, fast free shipping, free road hats are protection
over ten thousand recommended installers, tirac dot com. The way
tire buying should be all right? Checking the leaderboard of
the Masters, both John Rom and Brooks Skepka part the
fifth hole, so they remain tied at ten underpart. Meanwhile,
(02:00:54):
Victor Hoblin he just double bogeyed the sixth hole, and
Gary Woodland just bogied the ninth hole. So suddenly Rom
and Keepca are four shots clear of everyone else. So,
like we said, it would appear, barring a double collapse,
(02:01:15):
that one of these two guys is going to win
the green jacket. John rom proud member of the PGA Tour,
Brooks Keepka proud member of the Live Tour. Can't asker
much more than that if you're a golf fan, I
mean no, I mean what else did you want? By
(02:01:35):
the way, Phil Nicholson right now trying to get back
in the mix, he's at four hunderd par so I
look at you know it's golf, right. You consider these
athletes and what is what is your definition of I
used to have conversations back in the day on how
(02:01:56):
to define whether a sport is truly an athletic endeavor?
How do you define m an athletic sport? All right?
So that what what? What is it that you have
(02:02:17):
to do in terms of being an athlete to compete
in certain sports? An he is tough because this then
takes us from golf to auto racing and all these
other things. So there's a level of skill that needs
to be a part of it. There's a level of
(02:02:38):
physical exertion that also needs to be a part of it. Um,
isn't it true? Though? In any kind of sport, any sport,
Hand eye coordination, yeah, hand eye coordination. I mean when
you think of baseball, hand eye coordination, golf, hand eye coordination,
tennis hande coordination, football, you have to have those things.
(02:03:01):
I guess. Horse racing is a sport, so you have
to have I guess some kind of coordination. And I
balance that other stuff like he gives money, like what
we call our sports jockey an athlete by the way,
oh Hugh, and not believe this one time. He has
to be an athlete, right, So Gary Stevens Hall of
Fame jockey. You remember the movie Sea Biscuit when it
(02:03:25):
came out, Yes, and it was a big you know,
it was nominated for Best Picture and everything else. I'm
at the Super Bowl and I'm partnered with Michael Thompson
and I am sitting and he was he was on
the road with the Lakers, so he wasn't in Houston
physically with me. And they, you know, you know how
radio works, Radio road works, They bring over these guests.
(02:03:45):
So Gary Stevens comes by and I introduced him. And
the one thing I was talking about is if you
don't understand why jockeys are athletes, understand these are men
and women that are on top of these giant, multi
thousand pound horses. To have to coordinate these horses. It
(02:04:07):
takes a lot of athleticism to be a jockey. And
as I do this introduction, Michael, who's not physically with me,
says he's no athlete. And I'm sitting next to Gary
Stevens right this Hall of Famer and He's like, who
the hell is this? On the other line? Well, talk
(02:04:29):
about awkward? Awkward? Yeah, And I'm like, oh, so you're
you're more of an athlete. Can you jump on that
horse and ride him? I don't know. I mean I
I look at golfers and there's a very unique set
of skills. Explain to me how a one hundred and
sixty pound golfer can hit a golf ball three hundred
(02:04:49):
and fifty yards? How does that happen? That's hard technology
to some degree, but it's also the way you move
your body. Where does the power I'm from if it's
not in the upper body. If you're watching some of
these smaller golfers, let's say, like a Justin Thomas, how
does he hit the ball that? For? Can I win
(02:05:11):
on something here? YEA? Was it? Rory McElroy, who weighed
in recently was like technology is doing too much for driving,
Like he's like making it easier. It's making it easier too.
But you still have to you still have you still
have to generate the power idea. But you see his comments.
Otherwise you could hit a three hundred yard five. But
I mean they're like these clubs, they're making it possible.
These balls are making possible. They make it easy. So
(02:05:33):
did you seems he's like, we need to rein it
in a little bit, A little bit. I mean, you'd
probably be mad at me to play. Well, here's here's
the problem. Here's the problem. Like with a course like
Augusta National Right, they do have they actually expand they're
making some of these holes longer because they've been able
to acquire some of the acreage around to lengthen the course.
They have that kind of power obviously a money but
(02:05:55):
not every course can do that. So you have some
of these all time legendary courses that we see at
the US Open or the PGA or at the Open
Championship that are all of a sudden defenseless. I don't
see why you can't rein it in a little bit.
I mean, I was sitting in harmon. You didn't hear me,
But I played with a ladies ball because it flies farther,
it's softer. H what I played with a ladies ball,
(02:06:17):
I play with like a little Lady Penny. I didn't
know there was a separate ball for the ladies game.
I mean, the ladies ball is different than the men's
ball in gall and basketball. It's different ball basketball, the
art basketball women's actually smaller small, so it's just the same.
It's just a little a little different. Little Lady Precept
Lady Pinnacle has a little breast cancer ribbon on it. Yeah.
(02:06:39):
So when I played my steel shafted big birth is
that whackett? But then it hits and it stops. I
can't hit. I can't hear a second. Do the guys
you're playing with because I assume you're not playing by
yourself all the time. Yeah, they know, they know. Are
they asking? You're like, there's no waist thing. Give me
one of those. I mean, like, if you want to
(02:06:59):
hit a pink ball, like you can get a pink ball,
find a little easier. Yeah, you can see it like
it just makes sure it's not wayward, you know, I
just gotta put it in there in case every now
and then he goes into woods. You mean, oh that's
my that's my ball to pink one. When you watch
these guys play this level, I had a chance to.
I had a friend of mine that played professionally on
(02:07:20):
the PG Tour fromer U s Amar Champion And when
when you play with the golf and keepka just bogeys.
Following this sixth hole, he is now at nine under,
par so rom is now in the lead at ten under.
You have no idea how good these guys are, Like,
you know how how we like like you Normally, if
(02:07:41):
you play any golf at all, you're just trying to
get it on the green or you're just you know,
you know what I'm talking to, hit the drive as
far as you can. These guys are literally picking spots
and they don't miss like very I mean it's rare.
They have like a five yards circle like that's like
(02:08:02):
the clubs they're playing with, Like the club face is
so narrow because they're so precise and all of that stuff.
The way they can work the ball and stuff is
always funny when you're playing with amateurs as we all are,
and they're talking about, oh I was trying to hit
a drawing on it. Like, come on, dude, like just
just well here, here's the difference. Most of us have
what we call a hook or a slice that's built
(02:08:23):
into it. If you're a professional, it's a fade or
a draw. Yeah. So when you graduate from hook slice
to fade draw, yeah, that's when you know you're a golfer.
All right, rom pars the sixth hole. So with the
Kepka bogey, that means John rom now has the lead
in the Masters, but still twelve holes to play. A
(02:08:44):
long way to go down the stretch. Um. By the way,
we're watching some of this NBA action going on the Lakers. Yeah,
I mean, let's the Blazers didn't show up today. The
war years. How about this? You write you for this?
We got ten twenty two to go in the second
(02:09:06):
quarter and the Warriors have fifty eight points twenty nine
fifty nine, fifty nine to twenty nine. Wow, well, well,
am I missing something here? They scored fifty five in
the first quarter. Is that a record? The Warriors scored
fifty five points in the first quarter. Do the math
(02:09:28):
or on pace for two hundred and twenty points in
this game? The biggest thing is I didn't know to
hit two we have Do we have any record book
on that the Warriors scored fifty five in the first quarter?
Is that possible? The record is fifty eight fifty eight
(02:09:52):
scored by the Buffalo Braves in nineteen seventy two. The
Buffalo Braves soon to become eventually the San Diego Clippers,
who begin the Los Angeles Clippers. That's Bob McAdoo. Yeah,
I wonder how many people really, guy, You guys can't
see it. But Monsy was indeed celebrating that fact just now. Yeah.
(02:10:13):
She she doesn't even know that she's a Buffalo Braves
fan from back in the day. Because said there wasn't
a Buffalo Braves team, there wouldn't have been the Clippers.
I actually did know so, and he said that. I
was like, oh yeah, Clippers. When you're when you're a
Clippers fan, you gotta take the wins where here? Yes,
I do put that on a banner. Oh my gosh,
sure we're putting it on a banner. Listen, I don't
(02:10:33):
got no banners. I got to put it on the fridge.
You can't put it that would get them closer to
Taylor swift, So I mean anything all right. By the way,
history is being made a Major League Baseball. You may
not be aware of it, but there is a team
right now that maybe the greatest team ever assembled in
(02:10:53):
the history a Major League Baseball. We'll tell you which
team it is. This is Fox Sports Sunday and Brandon
Lown chances to capitalize here big Homer yesterday and he
swings and it's a tip the other way to left
back on the vault, to at the corner and look
it up and watching itself on out of here. But
grand flan for Brandon Low and at five nothing on
(02:11:17):
the FRN. That's ninety five three w d AE Rays
Radio Network, And that is our Progressive play of the day.

Bundle and saved at Progressive dot com. The Rays are
(02:11:42):
not just nine and oh let me read off to
you their nine scores so far. The final scores ready
for nothing twelve to two, five to one, six to two,
ten to six, seven to two, nine to five, and
their last two games eleven and nothing both games. They
(02:12:03):
are the first team to start the season eight and oh,
now nine and oh, where you've outscored your opponents by
at least four runs in every game, and then they
tack on another eleven nothing win today. They have outscored
their opponents through nine games by fifty seven runs. So
(02:12:25):
if you're not doing the math, I'll do it for you.
That's their averaging six and a half runs better than
their opponents through their first nine games. So at least
through nine games with only one hundred and fifty three
games left, this is the most dominant team in Major
League Baseball history. And they do it. And by the way,
(02:12:46):
they're playing home games. This was their attendance today. You're
ready for this. So they're playing the Oakland A's at
home on a Sunday with a record of eight no.
The announced attendance today in Tampa eleven thousand, one hundred
and fifty nine. Eleven thousand, one hundred and fifty nine
(02:13:10):
on a Sunday, and your team is eight no. Making history.
And that's the announced attendance. These numbers are always because
it's usually like tickets sold eleven thousand, one hundred and
fifty nine. Wow, what is it about Tampa? They can't
(02:13:30):
get behind this Raised team because they've had a lot
of success. They they won a lot more games than
they have lost. Competing on a division against the likes
of the Yankees and the Red Sox. How do you
get how do you get people engaged? The Well? Just win?
All right? Well they're winning now. One. It's tough because
at Park is not the greatest. Yeah, but does it
(02:13:51):
matter if you got the best team in baseball right now?
Strifus at some points say it's not a pleasant experience.
It's not. It's not not like like a fan experience.
It's it's it's okay, you know, no atmosphere eleven thousand.
You gotta be kidding me. Wow, No, I mean down
(02:14:13):
in San Diego when the Padre sucked and they had
a lot of empty seats at Pacco Then they started
to win and all of a sudden they fill up
the place. I don't know what they Maybe they need
to move the Raised team right if it's not working
with this team. So no, So here's what the deal was.
They were trying to make him a split team with Montreal,
(02:14:34):
which would have been great, because I would have loved
I have seen the old if you could have done it,
the old Montreal ex Bols. I like those uniforms. Yeah
that was that was cool. But yeah, so they got
mixed and so but there's other cities out there, right
they want a major league team. Yeah, I don't know.
It's I mean, if I'm raised on, I mean, this
(02:14:56):
is not working. If we're putting out a winning Friday
and right now his story product and literally nobody's showing up. Sorry, man,
I'm gonna have to find a new home along the way.
But anyway, rays or nine and oh and they're just
dismantling major League Baseball. Right now, we have an update.
They finally cooled off the Warriors. I think did they
(02:15:18):
just fast forward like five minutes on the clock to
just try to how is it possible that we went
from twelve minutes to two minutes left and a half?
Are they just running? Did they run the clock during
the time out? Running clock? So the Warriors scored fifty
five points in the first court, now they have seventy eight.
They been trying anyway, look at it, they're purposely missing shot.
(02:15:40):
It's like an intermial game, not a lot of fouls,
playing through a play through everything. Please tell me the
NBA recognizes there's there are problems with this league right now.
I don't know what to do. What do we want
to do? Don't like play all the way to the end?
Like what like what do we want? Like? Well, you
heard Monsey earlier say, how about how about five dollars tickets?
(02:16:01):
Give it away tickets for these these meaningless we're not
going to show up play our B squad? Well, I
mean you don't know if your team is not going
to be in I mean, you can do some discounting later.
You know, you can't do that ahead of the season, Like, oh,
we're gonna have five dollar games? What if this was
a for all the marbles? When to go home? Well,
I mean technically the Warriors didn't need to win this
(02:16:22):
game to guarantee a slide and get out of the
playing around. Yeah, but it's the Blazers home game, so
you can't instead of as their fans to show up.
I mean I'm looking, I'm like looking at the starting
lineup of the Blazers game. Watford Knocks, Maze, Sharp Williams. No,
(02:16:44):
those are names that jump out at you, right you're
not frustrated at all as an NBA fan to see this, No,
because garbage. It's the end of the year, you know what,
the end of the year. It didn't matter. They still
were playing at the end of the year. It's the
end of the year. It's like the last year. I
think the bird didn't take games off. The guy didn't
take dames. Oh my god, Like the legend of those
guys continues to grow, Like, come on, man, like like
(02:17:08):
the play had they played hard the last game of
the years, the last game of the season. Come on,
it's like the last day of school. You're the guy
who wants to give an exam the last day of school. Like,
come on, it's the last day of school. The only
thing you do the last day of school do you
sign your books and eat snacks and you get out
half a day. That's that's it. That's what this is.
(02:17:29):
I don't know in tournament responsibility, when you are making
insane bank what do you mean? What do I mean?
I'm talking about NBA players across the board are making Okay,
hold on a second, here, let me let me, let
me get I'm gonna get some number for you right here. Okay,
(02:17:50):
I'm gonna get you a little numbers here, all right.
So among NBA players right now, there are this season,
forty five players made thirty million dollars, more forty five
players salary. Sixty five players are making twenty million or
(02:18:11):
more ten million. Forget it, everybody's making ten million. Shouldn't
there be a certain about technically one hundred and forty
five players banked. I'm looking at the last name, Alec
Burks making ten million dollars this year. You don't think
there's a certain responsibility based on the kind of bank
that you're bringing home. I mean, this is one game.
(02:18:33):
It's like one game, one or two days games the
whole season. What do you talk about one game at
load management all season? Law? Oh my gosh, you want
to be fresh and ready to go, you can't, you know,
fresh and ready to fresh and ready to go to
tournament starts on Tuesday, the eleven. We've got the play
in tournament. Got the excitement coming for that, you know,
And then next year we're gonna have these in season
(02:18:55):
tournaments for these cups. You know, I don't know what
kind of season tournament go have, but like they got
that worked in the CBA well, it's a great time.
By the way, I'm looking at the leaderboard right now.
Ram is at Tencca at nine speak all of a
sudden is at T three's five hundred of the day,
six hunderd If you watched the Netflix Golf special, you
(02:19:17):
might have seen a guy named Sahethi yella. He is
six under on the day. This guy, he was like
one of these you know, young golfers, new golfers, you know,
new to the PGA Tour that they decided to highlight
on that show. Oh and by the way, Scottie Scheffler,
you're defending champion, has gotten to six hundred part as well.
(02:19:39):
He is four under on his day. He is now
four shots out of the lead. Things are getting interesting here.
Phil Mickelson's at five hundred. Phil, He's in the top ten.
All right, I'm a little excited here. I'm sorry, I
get I get excited about the mask golf. I know
a lot of people just like, what are you talking?
Is that even a sport? I mean, you are you
really You've really ran up, like you really up on it.
(02:20:02):
Maybe maybe I'm maybe it was the mid show Starbucks
run that we had that got you going, because you're no,
but I'm really excited to scores or coming down. They're
coming down right now, coming down. But the excitement level
is going up. You know, I mentioned where the tirerack
(02:20:23):
dot com studios. I might have mentioned that. All right,
well we'll take a little breather here. I gotta cat.
I'm hyper ventilating just watching all this golf right now.
Suddenly it's it's getting interesting because there's a lot of
Look at Phil going for a long punt there, pressed
than the black. By the way, Phil's got into shape.
Have you seen him. He's trimmed down. He's trimmed down
a little. Previously. He went from being he used to
(02:20:45):
be a little a little chunky. Note and we're not
shaming him, but he used to be be a little chunky.
Oh no, he was. He's definitely he's gotten himself lean.
I don't know that live tour or whatever. Well, they
just sideways. You know why he can get in shape
because he only has he admits to worry about. He
has more time and wayne to focus on his fitness. Yeah.
But by the way, if you're wondering Phil Mickelson's net worth,
(02:21:05):
you know what it is worth is how much is
Phil Mickelson has a net worth of anywhere between three
hundred and four hundred million dollars, and actually it might
be more than that, about five hundred million. It sounds
like a lot. Is that a game changer? I don't know.
Isn't Phili spokesman for like some kind of rheumatorid arthritis drug.
Maybe he's doing a little diet change to help alleviate
(02:21:27):
that a little bit. Oh, he's definitely lost weight. I
mean you can see it. He's definitely got himself in shape.
All right, let's find out what is trending right now.
As one person in charge of keeping her eye on
these meaningless basketball games. They're trying to watch basketball. Yes,
(02:21:48):
I don't know what's happening. But there's a speaker broke
and the Phoenix Clippers game. They just paused the game.
They brought down these speakers. Twelve guys looking at it,
and now one of them has removed the speaker. Are
the Clippers actually losing? Yes? Yes, yes they are by
three forty three forty is the score. When they do
understand they need to win, right, they do understand? I
(02:22:11):
think so? Yeah. No, at least they got people playing,
you know, what I'm saying, at least at least the
Stars are out there, they're in the second half. Hold
on a second, hold on a second. So they're not
in danger of being in the playing round because they
obviously the typebreaker with the Lakers. No, there is still
they could end up in the seventh or eighth. They can't. Yeah,
(02:22:34):
it's very very confessed that that would be if there's
a multi team tie. If they're only tie with the Lakers,
obviously they have the type right, right, they can't go eighth.
They can get the seventh. They can get the seventh.
They can, but that would mean that the Warriors. But
if the Warriors win, which they're going to win, and
the Clippers losing the Lakers win, the Clippers are still
(02:22:55):
the six. Yeah, so the chance for Clippers, as what
I remember, gets back to the idea, would you rather
be the five or the six? Right, and the Clippers
of the six would play Sacramento. They're playing the Suns
right now, And even you said, as a Clippers guy, hard, yes,
you'd rather be the six and the five I would.
It's impossible that the Clippers are trying to lose this game.
(02:23:17):
I you know, I was thinking are they feeling what
I'm feeling? But I don't like that. I don't want
them to tank just because I feel this way, like
I want them to win, you know what I mean,
like go out there and be tough. I just would
prefer to not face the Suns. But I hope they're
not purposely losing. I don't want them to be doing
that either. But they are losing by three. But it's okay,
it's early. We still got a whole second half the
(02:23:41):
keeping my eye on that game. Yes, but I actually
gonna You mentioned that the Warriors had fifty five points
in the first quarter. Yeah, but it was it was
Clay Thompson who was on fire. Off screen, comes chess pasta,
Thompson's takes a dribble, fires for three. Any right at home,
that's number four for Thompson. He's got fourteen in two
(02:24:01):
minutes to thirty seven seconds. Two minutes and thirty seven
seconds and Thompson had fourteen points all on the Warriors
radio network. They're totally dominating the Trailblazers, no questions. Eighty
four to fifty three is the score at halftime. The
Lakers have extended their lead over the Jazz they just
hit halftime. Sixty five fifty six is the score. And
(02:24:21):
the other game that matters Pelicans Timberwolves. The Pelicans are
on top forty eight to forty one with three minutes
to go in the second quarter. In Major League Baseball, Yeah,
the A's are nuts. I mean not the A's of
Tampa Bay Rays are nuts. They beat the A's eleven
to one, nine and not to start this season right
now though, the Marlins beating the met seven two bottom
(02:24:42):
of the ninth. That's a tie game between the Mariners
and the Guardians. They just started the bottom of the
tenth ending tied at three apiece. They are playing in Cleveland,
as STOs have extended their lead over the Twins five
to one top of the ninth. They aren't playing in Minnesota,
and the Bruds are beating the Cardinal six to one,
top of the eighth. Rangers are beating the Cubs eight
to two. They're about to start the bottom of the
eighth inning, and the Angels are beating the Blue Jay's.
(02:25:04):
Hunter Renfro hit a home run and they're on top
of the Blue Jays three zero. They're about to start
the bottom of the second inning and the Dodgers and
the Diamondbacks were tied. Not anymore. Arizona is beating La
two to one top of the second inning. Who a
lot going on, you guys, all right, thank you very much.
I don't know if both could help us out with this.
(02:25:28):
So the Pelicans swept the Clippers this year in the
regular season, and the Clippers swept the Lakers in the
regular season. So if the Clippers were to lose and
the Pelicans and Lakers win, they would all have the
same record. I'm trying to figure out how they would
(02:25:48):
figure out who's six, who's seven, and who's eight. I
am actually just now learning this as well. And apparently
the Pelicans would be six, the Clippers would be seven,
and the Lakers would be eight. Wow, because of three
way tire rules. So the Clippers, if the Clippers lose
to the Suns, I'm going to be very upset. So
you're telling me. With the Warriors obviously winning their game,
they would be the five. Yeah, But if the Clippers
(02:26:11):
were to lose their game and they're trailing right now,
and the Lakers and Pelicans both win, they would all
be tied, and ultimately the Pelicans would be the six.
The Clippers the seven and the Lakers eight. That is
the information that I'm receiving, which could very well be wrong.
And you understand again Lakers Clippers. The Clippers have beaten
the Lakers eleven straight times. Their record in the last
(02:26:35):
eleven years against the Lakers is thirty six and seven. Yeah,
I mean, you talk about owning a team, The Clippers
have absolutely owned a lot of Landers getting hung put
them on, put them on. So very interesting if what
the Clippers are doing right now against US, I feel
(02:26:56):
like if the Clippers found out about that, they would
also be smart too. Go ahead and just lose this
game against the Suns because you get a air quote
against the Lakers. Even if you're if you're of the
mindset of like, how great would it be to have
home court at Crypto dot Com Arena and knock out
the Lakers, you're also looking at Memphis. I'll take Memphis.
(02:27:18):
You don't want, you don't want, You would rather have
Sacramento that Memphis. I don't know. You gotta be careful
about size in a moment. Yeah, I don't believe in
Memphis this year. I believed in no more. Yeah, I
think there was too much drama and I don't think
they're as good as they were last year. But I
don't think they'll go first. The Clippers are kind of
old and slow and the Kings are young and fast.
(02:27:40):
If the Kings get hot, that would be that that'd
be a tougher series than anticipated. Wow, Pelicans are up
ten right now on the road against the Timberwolves. You
got a minute to go on the half there again.
The Warriors game is over thirty one at the half
against Portland and the Suns now nine point lead. There's
(02:28:01):
something going on with the Clippers in this game. How
are you down nine? The Suns literally are sitting their
entire team. Can anybody? I mean, there's how many recognizable
names are there in this Suns are pros too? Yeah?
Those guys are pros. Wow, Yeah, they're pros. Kawhi isn't
(02:28:22):
showing up today. Seventeen minutes, four points, two for seven
from the field. Something's going on with the Clips. Something's
going on. I don't know, I'm telling you, but that
would be unbelievable. If we have a play in game
between the Clippers and the Lakers, and the Clippers knock
the Lakers out in the playing around and the Lakers
(02:28:43):
don't even get to the playoffs. I don't know. Let's
keeping an eye on that. So right now, and by
the way, the Lakers lead is only I'm sorry the
Lakers are Are they winning or losing? Right now? It's halftime.
They're up by nine, all right, so they're up nine
of the half. Okay, keep her eye in that game
with clip. Something's going on with those clips. Jordan's Speeth
(02:29:09):
has just posted another birdie. Jordan's Speeth is six under
on his round. He now has sole possession of third place.
He's three shots out of the lead. So rom and
kept Goa are at ten and nine and Speeth is
(02:29:30):
at seven. Oh, I'm sorry. Phil Mickelson just birdied fifteen.
He's now at six hundred. Part does this get You're
going at all? Bucky? I mean you're you're really excited,
you really into it. I mean like like, once we
(02:29:51):
get to the back nine, Once we get to the
back nine, those guys are on the back nine. The
puession is what's gonna happen when rom and keep get
to the back nine those guys it is Scheffler's and Levin, Yes, Monsey,
what's going on? Hey, guys? Yeah, so more drama in
the Western Conference. Rudy Gobert throws a shot at his team,
(02:30:12):
at Kyle Anderson during a time out, and he swings,
He swings at him. It's not good. They look like
they're arguing and there's players in between them, and Rudy
takes a step and swings at him and then they
get separated by their team. Yeah, Chris, Chris Haynes has
a video, has a video on Twitter in the last
game right now, see right now? You want an intensity,
(02:30:36):
So now we have intensity. By the way, can somebody
please explain that Gobert deal that the Timberwolves made? No
nobody can Danny Ainge? Danny Ainge fleased another one? See's fleased?
Another fleas, another executive fleast, another one. What what were
the t Wolves thinking? I don't know, but Rudy Gobert
(02:30:59):
sometime times just needs to sit down and in so
many different ways, you know what I mean. I'm just
like Rudy go bear, responsible for the complete shutdown of
an NBA season. Yes, I can't wait for him to
be a Clipper. It's so rude. Not why we're not
(02:31:22):
putting that on a banner. We're not putting that on
a banner show. I am baffled by this Sun's Clippers
games Clippers, But but Bo will explain it. If we
have a three way tie with the Pelicans, Lakers, and Clippers,
which would happen if the Clippers lose, Pelicans Lakers both winning,
(02:31:43):
Suddenly the Clippers are hosting the Lakers, and the playing game,
and the playing playing game Clippers seven Lakers eight Clippers
home game. Who becomes sixty Pelicans? The Pelicans would jump
up to six. They jump up to six because they
swept the Clippers in their season series. Wow, is Zion
(02:32:04):
coming back? No, he's done. Is Zion coming back for
the playoffs? No? I thought he's not. He's not, He's not.
They they recently said that they were going to keep
you know, he was going to keep doing his regiment
of conditioning and whatnot, and they officially ruled him out
for the play in game if they have one, and
they are saying he's very doubtful to make any appearance
in the playoffs. Man Zion, Zion can run out the tunnel?
(02:32:28):
How big would that be? Though? A playing game between
the Clippers and the Lakers. Oh Man play in the
game and especially after the Clippers have dominated the regular
straight they can imagine three straight years. Can you imagine
what that would be if they dominate them all the time,
and then we get to the play in and Lebron
and Ad show up and show up. I will say
(02:32:49):
that when the Lakers have had to be at the
Clippers in recent years, they've done so. I went the
Bubble thirty six and seven. Is the Clippers head the
Bubble year um when Lebron locked up Kawhi Leonard and
Paul George on the final position of the game they
had to have that. Well, that's the only game that
doesn't matter because in the last ten years, the Lakers
have had only one season that they did anything. They've
(02:33:11):
had seven losing seasons in the last nine years. One
year they were eliminating the first round of the playoffs
in the Bubble Championship. Yeah, okay. On the other side,
will continue it up to take to you on everything
on this crazy Easter Sunday. This is Fox Sports Sunday.
Is there anybody that you know that owns an easter
(02:33:34):
bonnet or and of just a bonnet? Oh god? In general,
is there such a thing as a bonnet anymore? We
have a lot of Mennonite people. They're sort of like
a less extreme version of the Amish. They were a
bonnet the Mennonites. How do you define a bonnet? I
don't know what an easter bonnet is, m but a
(02:33:56):
bonnet is like a hair covering. It's like a little
cup thing cover your hair bun with. I'm looking it
up yet, keep your hair from blowing away? Yeah? Yeah,
you know like this? Do you do you ever see those?
Very often bonnets? Not not as much anymore. But it
(02:34:17):
is an Easter celebration. That song is is that the
only bonnet song you could find? The Easter bonnet? Only
bonnet song, only Easter song it could find in our
system here, So I thought I'd give it a go.
Could it be bonet instead of bonnet? Sure? We were
talking Gagney versus Gangye. Right in the break we were
(02:34:37):
talking about a lot of just where you come from,
regional you know, geography, pronunciations. I mean, you could be
Booky Brokes instead of Bucky Brooks, Booky Brooks or Brooks
Brooks book Brooks. By the way, we are live from
(02:34:59):
the tire dot Com Studios. I'd like to thank other
people responsible for this insanity starting with of course I
was Sam, who is the genesis of that? Yeah, well,
you know we have fun on a holiday wearing his
Easter yellow. Easter yellow. You know, it's a beautiful day
in the Midwest. It's like seventy degrees and sunny, so
(02:35:20):
people are really enjoying this weekend. All right, I have
a question for you, mon Cy Bow. First of all,
did you participate in Easter egg hunts as a kid? Sam?
M oh, yeah, absolutely? At what age did you have
your last active Easter egg hunt? Well, when would you
say is cut off age? Like twelve? For twelve? Yeah? Twelve? Monsey?
(02:35:45):
Can she here? I'm here, I am his life. What
would you say is the age cut off for an
Easter egg hunt a child? One? Probably? Yeah, eleven, twelve
I think is how old I was. But in college
we did a drunken Easter egg hunt. Well that's that's
the difference that it was like the airline side. What
I'm talking about is a competitive Easter egg hunt. So
(02:36:08):
like if you have a twelve year old going against
a five year old, is that a fair game? I
think I did it at the park, you know where
it was like a giant open space, right, and you
can probably remember when you're young, young getting run over
by the older kids. Yes, yes, yes, I mean your
what is your age cut off in terms of an
(02:36:28):
Easter egg hunt? I think twelve. I think twelve is
like that's your last year of being a kid, thirteen
year a teenager. Um, So if you're if you're above
twelve and you're participating in the Easter egg hunts, you're
not helping other kids. What are you doing. I have
a former broadcast partner of mine who has one child,
one son, and they would set up an Easter egg
(02:36:51):
hunt for him alone into his high school years. Is
that a little too much competition? You know? Yeah, no
competition either, Bucky. What you're what you're ruling on this
egg age restriction on the Easter egg hunt? Well, I
just finished up Easter egg hunt a year ago, so
(02:37:11):
I mean that's kind of part of the tradition. So
I mean it doesn't count when you set up your
own Easter egg I mean that's kind of that's kind
of part of the deal, like part of the Eastern
traditions or to have those things like egg tosses and
oh the peats stuff your mouth contest dyeing the easter eggs,
like they are all kinds of different stuff about the
(02:37:31):
dye in those things. It's you know, they're they're trying
to ban it. Did you see this, oh in the
Peace Yeah, yeah, I read it. There's like a carcinogen
in certain colors of peace, those red dye number five
or something like that. Ye die, Yeah, it's gotta die
in the word. You just have to be careful. Yeah,
be careful. Don't eat too many of those people put
too many. You're supposed moderation, not supposed to ingest them.
You're supposed to see how many you can hold. You're
(02:37:54):
speaking of eggs, how many? How's the last time he
had a hard boiled egg? Uh? That long ago. I
love hard boiled eggs. If I go to get a ramen,
you get a hard boiled egg in there, Yeah you do. Sorry,
soft boiled egg. I've had a soft boil egg more recently.
Hard boiled egg. I don't know. Oh, like deviled egg.
That's a hard boiled egg, right, deviled egg is good? Yeah, well,
and it's all mixed up. Yeah yeah. Are you a fan?
(02:38:16):
I'm yeah. Yeah. That's great. Great easy protein, yeah, great, easy,
just can get into grocery store a little Steve see
Gary Player junior over there. Stayah, we're all gonna adopt
the Gary Player diet lifestyle. That's right, breaks eggs, six
ry eggs a day. Yeah, breakfast and lunch. Nothing after lunch.
(02:38:36):
So you gotta you gotta make sure you time your
lunch right. Like right around three o'clock is probably your lunchtime.
And that's it. It's lunch, the most expense, Like you
can just get rid of it. It's expendable lunch. You
can just well I mean it. I mean what you
think about dinner? You had a long fast, like that's
a long time. Does this shifts throw you off as
far as lunch dinner is concerned. No, no, no, no,
(02:39:00):
Because we have like a minute or two and right
after we get our lunchtime, the whistle blow is a
punch out. It's like the Footstones. It's like the Flestos.
I'm running out, do you know the Flestos? All right? Sam,
I watched the Findstones cartoon and I love the live
action one with Johnson. You know the Jetsons, Yeah, I
know Jetsons. I grew up. I watched all these shows.
(02:39:22):
Go okay, I'm just making sure. By the way, John
Ram birdied eight Brooks. Kapca has now gone seventeen straight
holes without a Birdie's fading fast, so he is stalled,
mister Live golf. So Ram is sitting pretty. He's got
a two shot laid over Kapca, four shot laid over
(02:39:42):
everyone else, and some easy holes ahead. Great stuff, Bucky,
thanks for shutting up really early yesterday as well. They
gotta be prepared. Cabin Are on Fox Sports Radio
