Speaker 1 (00:01):

ahead of us. We got some big games about to
kick off, Ohio State and Notre Dame.

Speaker 3 (00:34):
Been a great day.

Speaker 2 (00:35):
Well, it's been a very interesting day and eyeopener for
a number of schools, including my UCLA Bruins, who Dante More,
their freshman quarterback, first play of the game, throws a
pick six going against an outstanding Utah team. That game
is reasonable, though, Utah without their starting quarterback, leading UCLA
by a score of fourteen to nothing. But the big

(00:57):
story through the first month of this college football season,
without question, the Colorado Buffalos Deon Sanders.

Speaker 4 (01:03):
We knew this was going to be their first test.

Speaker 2 (01:05):
Of the year on the road against an obviously fired
up Oregon Ducks team. Oregon is right now knocking on
the door again and they are not letting up. Inside
four minutes ago on the third quarter, already leading by
a score of forty two to nothing, and they throw it,
oh drop pass, they get a break right there. Anyway,

(01:25):
total yards in this game from four hundred and seventy
eight for Oregon thirty four for Colorado. And before I,
of course hear your breakdown, here's my uneducated vision of
what I've seen out there. Colorado has that bad combination

(01:46):
of a bad defensive line and a bad offensive line.
So you can have all the great skilled players you need,
but if you can't get it done on the trenches
on either side of the football, you're in trouble, especially
against the quality team.

Speaker 3 (02:01):
This is what so my.

Speaker 5 (02:04):
People in my family who've never watched college football before
outside of when I played at the great San Diego State,
who struggled mightily against Boys of State yesterday, But that's
for later in the show. Like my wife, my brother,
my friend group, we come from a basketball family, so

(02:24):
we played basketball. We all played basketball in college. My
brother went overseas and played in the pros. So my
friend group that we're texting back and forth, they jumped
on the Colorado hype train because what Dion Sanders has
has meant to college football has been amazing. This year,

(02:45):
he's well since he's been a coach, what he's meant
for African American coaches in college football has been amazing.
The message he's trying to convey to these young athletes
has been amazing. All of these things are amazing. What
I explain to them is, in order to compete, this

(03:05):
is different than basketball. In the NCAA and basketball, you
can have one superstar and role players and make it
to the Sweet sixteen. You can make it to the
Elite eight, even to the Final four. Look at San
Diego State's basketball team last year meteoric rise to the
National Championship.

Speaker 4 (03:23):
A lot of experience on that team, a.

Speaker 5 (03:25):
Lot of experience anybody in the league, right, anybody will
make an NBA roster, no, right, So what happens in
college football in order to compete at the highest levels.
Now Oregon is a top ten team, that's a high level.
You have to have at least six or seven guys

(03:47):
who potentially will play on the next level on both
sides of the ball.

Speaker 3 (03:53):
Because that's what.

Speaker 5 (03:54):
You have Colorado has about three guys on their roster
that can play on the next level.

Speaker 3 (04:02):
One of them is not playing today.

Speaker 5 (04:05):
On the flip side, Oregon has probably about twelve guys
who'll get a legitimate shot in the NFL. Next week
when they play se they have about twenty twenty five
guys who'll get a shot at playing at the next level.
That's the level of competition, especially at a Power five
school that you have to compete at week in and

(04:30):
week out. You can't just have shadur go out there
and do everything because you need five guys on the
offensive line, which they don't have. You need two or
three dynamic receivers one is out, you need a running game.
They don't have that. And defensively, they can't stop anybody
because they don't have the pressure the linebackers, the defensive

(04:51):
line up front. So yeah, this is Look. I'm still
all Deon Sanders, all Colorado Buffaloes because I love what
he's doing.

Speaker 3 (05:02):
I love that he's changing.

Speaker 5 (05:04):
How college football is coached, recruited, and viewed, and I
think it's great for the game now. A lot of
other coaches, a lot of the program day might not
like that because it's a change of doing it the
good old way.

Speaker 2 (05:17):
Well, and there's a coach at Oregon that wanted to
make sure that any bravado of Colorado would be extinguished today.
Now what's interesting about this game to me? And by
the way, social media is just blowing up obviously against
Colorado ours, which was, you know, understandable. Here's my observation though,
of Shador Sanders today. And you know, obviously after his

(05:39):
tremendous start to his season, he has twelve total yards today,
he has seventy five yards passing. He has been sacked
seven times for sixty three yards and losses. Let's talk
about that for a second here, because I've been reviewing
all of his sacks today and they're blitzing like crazy,
and without exception, all these sacks came where he actually

(05:59):
had an eyeball on the guy.

Speaker 4 (06:00):
That sacked him.

Speaker 2 (06:01):
So this is something that every quarterback has to understand.
You don't have to be a great athlete to maneuver
in the pocket or get rid of the ball or
do whatever you have to do to avoid big sacks.
All these sacks are big sacks. You know, seven, eight, ten,
fifteen yards. You can't do that at the next level.
So if you're to sit down and review with shuroor

(06:22):
Sanders after this game, just talking about that aspect of
the game.

Speaker 3 (06:26):
This is what I say to them.

Speaker 5 (06:28):
I say, look, first of all, pocket presence and awareness
is paramount. You don't have to be the fastest. Tom
Brady has never been even considered a tremendous athlete fast
break neck speed.

Speaker 4 (06:44):
Philip River is another guy like that, Peyton Manning, yep.

Speaker 5 (06:48):
But their pocket presence and awareness was paramount. It was
just miles ahead of anybody else instead of most athletic quarterbacks.

Speaker 3 (07:00):
Andrew Luck was like this early on as well. RG
THII was like this.

Speaker 5 (07:06):
Most athletic quarterbacks when they get in trouble they retreat
backwards and out without even seeing the rush from the
from the ends because they're no they're they're better athletes.
They can maneuver, they can get out of there. So
instead of backpedaling and going back and curling when you're

(07:27):
going against other superior athletes, you have to put the
pressure on them through the middle because even if they
get you, you don't lose extra yards. You can't turn
a four yard sack into a seventeen yard sack, and
so I would tell him to really work on his
pocket presence moving forward, not backwards, because I think that'll

(07:48):
be essential to his growth. And I'm sure he'll have
a conversation with Tom Brady after this, after this game,
and they'll talk about those type of things.

Speaker 2 (07:55):
Well, one thing I like about what I see with
Sanders right now the quarterback is he under stands the
games out of hand. It's not going to be any
kind of miracle comeback here, but he's still leading. You
can just tell he still has that presence on the
field right now. So Colorado is just looking for anything,
anything positive to take away from what has been an
absolute debacle. And Eugenia, by the way, from Oregon standpoint,

(08:17):
I know there was a lot of frustration for Oregon
going into this game with all of the spotlight in Colorado,
but they realize, hey, we got eyeballs. Normally in Oregon games,
it's not going to get a lot of eyeballs. This
game got eyeballs. Let's put on a show. This game
turns out to be a recruiting tool for Oregon because
they are showing you know, bo Nicks obviously another transferred quarterback.

(08:39):
Unbelievable Day twenty eight to thirty three and seventy six yards,
three touchdown passes, and this one their running game has
had over two hundred yards on the game. So they
understood the importance of this game from their standput forget
of Colorado. We can do things in this game that's
going to help this program moving forward.

Speaker 5 (08:57):
This will propel Bownicks's heisman candidacy. They knew how big
and how many people would start watching this game. Not
quite sure how many are still watching right, but they
knew close to seven, eight, maybe nine million people would
be tuning in for this matchup. So they wanted to

(09:20):
show improve They wanted to put their best foot forward,
come out here and show the country why they're the
tenth ranked team in the nation. Why they didn't get
any press this week. They made sure they didn't say
anything that could be leaked out and use as bulletin
board material until right before the game. Right before the game,

(09:42):
the pregames beached, the coach told them, hey, we're going
to play this game and settle this game with our
pads on the field. Right, We're not playing for clicks,
alluding to social media likes. We're playing for wins. So
that is the message. And I was talking to my

(10:06):
friend group about if I was the coach, if I
was the opposing coach of Colorado, I.

Speaker 3 (10:12):
Would be saying the same message.

Speaker 5 (10:14):
You have to fire up and have your team ready
to step out there and play, or you'll get embarrassed
like TCU did.

Speaker 3 (10:27):
And so that's the message. Hey, they're coming to it.

Speaker 5 (10:30):
First of all, organ is a tough place to play,
difficult to play there. You have to take care and
win and beat a team coming into your home, a
team with more rank less than you, has less talent,
but with more hype. That's the perfect storm for me
as a coach because I'm laying into it. I know

(10:53):
we have the talent. Our guy, our quarterback is a
Heisman hopeful as well, one of the tops in the country.

Speaker 3 (10:59):
So let's go out there show improve.

Speaker 5 (11:01):
They have better offensive linemen, better defensive linemen, they have
better linebackers. So yeah, the better team right now is dominating.

Speaker 2 (11:10):
By the way, it wasn't that long ago. A couple
of years before this Georgia brief run. The last couple
of years where the national championship was basically reserved to
two schools, Alabama or Clemson. Very different stories today for
those two great programs. We're gonna tell you why. By

Trips left for Oregon and Bowl Franklin along to the right,
empty backfield downs. Both turns it up, wants to run
it does, gets inside the five free touchdown boon Knicks.

Speaker 4 (12:49):
I sent them a for boon Knicks, give me six.

Speaker 2 (12:53):
That's Sherry Allen from lear Field right there. And it
has been all Ducks today. Oregon pulverizing Colorado forty two
to nothing. We're inside thirteen minutes to go in the
fourth quarter in that game. All right, we got a
lot of college football to catch up on on this Saturday,
but we also have to get you ready for a
big NFL Sunday Week three. Jonas right now, of course,

(13:16):
is the esteem NFL insider we like to call him
r NFL insider.

Speaker 4 (13:21):
The great Adam Kaplan is Jonias right now.

Speaker 2 (13:24):
So Adam, let's let's get right to this Joe Burrows
story and exactly what's going down. A. Is he going
to be playing against the Rams? And b has he
been healthy at all? Because obviously the Joe Burrow that
we have seen the first couple of weeks bears no
resemblance the guy that we've seen the last couple of years.

Speaker 8 (13:41):
Yeah, it's his right calf. This is the pushoff leg
of a right handed thrower. And he just was not
himself last week. He did what he could in the
second half to bring the team back to make the
game close. But yeah, he's he didn't really do him
a lot in practice this week today. By the way,
it was their last practice for Monday night. The listen
is questionable. I put him more to the more for
the doubtful side. Jake Brown's back up. A guy's never

(14:03):
started an NFL game. It's been basically a pract squad quarterback.
These casttrains guys. It just reoccurred. A couple of weeks ago.
He had a little sore nos didn't bother them. This
game it did, And now they have a serious question
whether he will play Monday night against the visiting Rams.
And by the Rams are by the way, the Rams
are no joke. They've been way more competitive than people

(14:25):
thought they would be.

Speaker 4 (14:26):
Yeah, let's uh.

Speaker 5 (14:29):
I mean, I never like to go First of all, Adam,
we love you so good to have you back.

Speaker 3 (14:36):
Appreciate here.

Speaker 5 (14:38):
I never like to jump to too many conclusions after
the second week of the NFL season. But it seems
like the sky is falling, all right, So let's talk
about the Chargers. Oh, that's bad, talk about the Chargers,
talk about sky is falling. Is this a must win

(15:00):
for coach Staley to keep his job against the Vikings
this weekend?

Speaker 8 (15:05):
No, I don't think they're not considering Canningham this early
aprom But it's.

Speaker 3 (15:10):
I mean, I should have did it last last year.

Speaker 8 (15:12):
Well, they felt that the couple things they felt after
two seasons, and plus they don't like own owners, don't
like own coaches money not to coach.

Speaker 4 (15:20):
Well the Spano says, don't.

Speaker 8 (15:21):
Yeah, so they didn't want that. That was not as
I actually talked to them about it. That was not
in the thought process. They wanted to give him a
real shot. And here's the thing that I think it's
a little bit damning for Brandon Staley. He wanted some
of his own guys. He wanted Khalil Mack, he got him.
Macus had injury issues late in his career. He's near
the end of a great career. Maybe he's got two
years left in him. He clearly he's not the same player,

(15:42):
but hey, he knows the defense. They wanted to reshape
the defense. He needed a big time corner.

Speaker 3 (15:47):
Got j C.

Speaker 8 (15:47):
Jackson Terrasa's battel at ten and before that he toured
the battel. Last season, he wasn't playing well. The run
defense is terrible last season. It's better now, but all
sorts of mental errors for their their defenders in the
back end. They're giving up a ton ton of plays.
And now you really look at it. They play a
team by the way, in Minneapolis tomorrow who's also on too.
Now they are expectations. No one thought that Vikings would

(16:09):
be thirteen to four. Again, in fact, I didn't make
I picked them not to make the playoffs. I thought
those record fourth quarter wins that would go away, and
that's happened. And they're also rebuilding their defense. But no,
I don't to get back to the charge. I don't
see them doing anything anytime soon.

Speaker 4 (16:23):
Now.

Speaker 8 (16:23):
If they're not a playoff team, then you absolutely a
change could could certainly be in play there.

Speaker 2 (16:29):
All right, I want to talk about a team that
is blowing the doors off everyone, the forty nine ers.
So I'm watching this game against the Giants and Ayuk's out,
So I mean you still have Kittll Obviously you still
have Samuel and of course the great Christian McCaffrey. But
I'm watching some of these throws that brock Purty is making.
I mean, this guy, this guy is for real. I mean,

(16:50):
anybody that doubts Perty's talent, I dare you to look
back at some of the throws he made under duress
On the moment, I'm just still trying to figure out
why so many people missed on this guy a four
years start at Iowa State. They had some ups and downs, obviously,
but anybody that can throw the ball under duress with

(17:12):
that level of accuracy is going to be a standout
quarterback in this league.

Speaker 5 (17:17):
Adam, Before you answer, let me remind you last year
when we were going through the Brock Party experience, and
every week I asked you, right, is he the guy?

Speaker 3 (17:30):
Are you with him?

Speaker 7 (17:31):
You?

Speaker 3 (17:31):
And you kept saying, well, let's wait and see, let's
wait and see.

Speaker 8 (17:33):
It that way till the niers were telling me okay,
they wanted what they wanted to say.

Speaker 5 (17:37):
Okay, so now how do we feel about him? Look,
here's the thing about Brock Party.

Speaker 4 (17:41):
Let's go back.

Speaker 3 (17:42):
Steve just asked about it.

Speaker 8 (17:43):
You know what happened with teams here why were they
sit down on Well, he was bench multiple times at
Iowa State, YEP. As one skatixtor has told me, he
tried to make throws he couldn't make, but he just
would not accept that he couldn't make them. Well, he
goes to maybe the best offensive play designer, Kyle Shanahan,
who's a space creator.

Speaker 3 (18:00):
What does that mean?

Speaker 4 (18:02):
He goes, here's what we're gonna do. We're gonna roll
you out right.

Speaker 8 (18:04):
You throw the ball here, get it out of your hands,
read it correctly, get rid of the football.

Speaker 3 (18:08):
And he does that.

Speaker 8 (18:09):
He's an executor. That's the that's a coaching term. He's
an executor, does a phenomenal job of it. It has
less to do against the Giants defense, which is not
played well. It's more about what Shanahan's able to do
to create space for him to throw the football.

Speaker 4 (18:23):
And he just sees such a.

Speaker 8 (18:24):
Good executor, you know, you know he from as an
offensive lineman when your quarterback gets rid of the football
in time and doesn't turn it over. Now, in the
last two games, we should mention two games ago he
missed two touchdowns, one to Ayuk and another one where
the other guy got a wide open.

Speaker 3 (18:39):
He overthrow it.

Speaker 8 (18:40):
But the fact of the matter is, overall he's a
terrific executor and they're really good and obviously their defense
is elite.

Speaker 5 (18:48):
Yeah, I I you know me, I'm on the party train.
I don't know if I'm on the Russell Wilson train. No,
it doesn't seem like Sean Payton is on that Russell
Wilson trade.

Speaker 3 (19:01):
What has to happen for that marriage to be severed?

Speaker 5 (19:06):
Like, is this a situation where we can go and
be ohen five oh and six and they make a
change to a free agent that they brought in and
paid about ten million dollars in Stidham.

Speaker 8 (19:22):
Well, see, yeah, Jared said Jared Stidham is not a
guy they really want to go to. They want to
and then they want to ride this out.

Speaker 4 (19:27):
Now.

Speaker 8 (19:27):
Look, their defense, by the way, has not been very
good this season. That's the other story of the football team.
It sounds they could overcome their defense and they don't
want to put it all in Russell Wilson's hands. But
this is an evaluation season for Sean Payton. He more
or less could if he tells management, hey, I want
this guy out of here, they'll probably do it the
next year, they'd have.

Speaker 3 (19:46):
To eat thirty nine million.

Speaker 8 (19:48):
He has an option bonus of twenty two million plus
a salary of seventeen million, so they'd have to eat it.
It's fully guaranteed, knowing the way things are done there.
If Sean Payton wants Russell Wilson gone, it'll probably happen.
But the going to go through season. They want to
see this situation take place now in terms of getting evaluation.
Wilson has not been that bad. He's been kind of
up and down. He's had some good quarters and bad quarters.

(20:10):
But this is a team that's in transition in terms
of new offense. They want to see what happens going
forward with Wilson. Their offensive line's gotten healthier, that's a
big thing. It wasn't totally healthy last season. But this
is certainly not This is a situation he from to
watch between Wilson and Peyton because let's call it like
it is. Wilson's never played with enough discipline in his career,

(20:31):
and this is a coach who demands it.

Speaker 2 (20:33):
The teammates of Justin Fields have rallied around him after
being critical of his coaching staff, basically blaming them for
the fact that not only is his team owing too,
but he has underperformed and they're just not letting him
play his game. It's interesting they should do this if
they as they hit the road against the Chiefs this week.

Speaker 4 (20:50):
So what's going to come of this?

Speaker 2 (20:52):
Are they going to change the offense at all to
appeed justin fields and if he can't execute the offense,
they want it over for him.

Speaker 8 (21:01):
What I was told is this the one criticism that's
very valid from the coaching staff is and I don't
have an answer for this because it was totally different
last season, is they're not designing many running plays for
him where he was dynamic, not only led their team
in rushing. I mean, he was one of the top
rushers in football last season. So for whatever reason, they're
not doing that to get him gone because he's got

(21:22):
just great athleticism, he low, he runs really well for us,
he's been in six y' four. But as a passer
he's dreadful. I mean, it's they've done all that they can.
They added DJ Moore in the big trade. Obviously with
the Panthers, their pass target group is better than clearly
way better than last season. But he's been inaccurate. They're questions.
There were questions from a scouting standpoint, how hard he

(21:42):
worked coming out of Ohio State. He's regrets as a
passer last week was embarrassing. So many players that were
protected well, he held onto the football. See that's the thing, folks,
that if we want to be honest here, when the
lineman protect the quarterback well and the quarterback stares down
the pass target, that's a problem and it's got to
be better. And that was kind of embarrassing. Now, as

(22:03):
you mentioned Steve, they going to Kansas City, it's only
going to get worse for him. And these coaches Lukeatsey,
by the way, they're running West Coast offense, which is
not easy for a quarterback to learn very early on.
They've got to help him. They got to run the
football with this kid, because they by the way, they
have no run game. The running game has been dreadful otherwise.

Speaker 2 (22:20):
Adam, I know you have a very busy schedule, but

It was thirty five to nothing lead for the Oregon
Ducks over Colorado. Dan Lanning said, we're not done yet,
We're not satisfied. Hope that everybody's that been watching Colorado

(23:42):
is still watching, and if they are still watching, they're
seeing the Ducks lead forty two to nothing. Midway through
the fourth quarter. Oregon starting quarterback bow knicks out of
the game. Backup Ty Thompson will go the rest of
the way and number thirteenth ring Alabama has a twenty
four to ten lead over Number fifteen Old miss that's
midway through the fourth there. I'm all right close to
the end of the fourth quarter there looking for this youth.

(24:04):
There we go Utah, number eleventh three team of the nation,
with a fourteen point lead over UCLA fourteen to nothing
midway through the fourth quarter.

Speaker 3 (24:11):
There.

Speaker 4 (24:11):
UCLA is a twenty second rate team in the nation.

Speaker 9 (24:13):
In the NFL, the Miami Dolphins wide receiver Jalen Waddle
is in concussion protocol will not play on Sunday. New
Orleans Saint twenty back to Marow Williams is placed on
IR for the hamstring injury he suffered on Monday night.

Speaker 4 (24:25):
He'll miss at least the next four games.

Speaker 9 (24:27):
Houston Texans left tackle Laramie Tunsel ruled out for Sunday's
game in Jacksonville, and Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow Adam Kaplan
just said it and he's listed as questionable. Kaplan said
leaning towards doubtful for Monday's game against the Rams.

Speaker 2 (24:40):
Steven Ephrom back to you, all right, man, thank you
very much. Once again, we're coming alive from the tai
iraq dot com studios. All right, getting back to the
college football today. Alabama is leading ole Miss twenty four
to ten, a little well for two minutes to go
in the fourth quarter in this game. So we started
the day today with Clemson at home against Florida State
at home against fifteenth rank Old Miss. So both these

(25:03):
esteem programs staring at a possible second loss in the season,
which automatically would eliminate you from any chance to be
in the college football playoff. Clemson did not survive today.
They end up losing an overtime to Florida State. So
Clemson is done in terms of a national championship run.
But watching this Alabama team against an ole Miss team.

(25:25):
Jackson Dart, the former SCI quarterback of course at ole Miss.
Now they went back to Milroe at quarterback and he
has played well today. He's seventeen to twenty one, two
hundred and twenty five yards of score, did throw a pick.
But more importantly, this Alabama defense has absolutely shut down
this ole Miss offense. So, you know a lot of
people writing the obituaries for Alabama and Nick Saban. For

(25:49):
them to bounce back in this manner against a quality
Ole Miss team, that's a big say for him and
a very tough loss today for Dabo Sweeney, who suddenly
finds Clemson has fallen to the back of the pack.

Speaker 5 (26:02):
Well, I think the paradigm is shifting a little bit.
Once you have a program that consistently sends, you know,
multiple players to the NFL, there is going to be
a time where, you know, like for Nick Saban, he's

(26:24):
never gone a three year run without winning a national championship.
So this last year they didn't even make the playoff.
This year will be another down year. Guys will be better,
more equipped to make a run and compete next year.
It's on brand for what happens at Alabama. All of

(26:47):
the quarterbacks for the last I don't know, five years
from Alabama. Six years are all starting on Sundays in
the NFL. Yeah, it's going to be. It's going you're
gonna have some growing pains.

Speaker 4 (26:59):
What about Dabbo Clemson?

Speaker 2 (27:00):
Are they done being a proto National championship contender.

Speaker 4 (27:04):
I'm not saying quality team. They'll be a quality team.

Speaker 2 (27:07):
They got quality players, but you know, being bringing a
Trevor Lawrence on the heels of a Deshaun Watson.

Speaker 5 (27:13):
What we what we've realized, is all you need is
that quarterback.

Speaker 3 (27:18):
In college.

Speaker 5 (27:19):
You'll have the skill receive, you'll have the skill positions,
you'll have, you know, a good defensive lineman. You're those
colleges will still get that level of competitor, but to
be in that top tier class, you need the quarterback.
You need that guy at that position with the guys

(27:40):
up front on the offensive line to really compete. They
have the lineman, they'll find the quarterback. They'll transfer portal.
Somebody will be someone sitting somewhere who will pop a
look at bow Knicks, right he It just wasn't working
in Auburn for bow Knicks.

Speaker 4 (27:57):
Dunts. You'll love all these six year quarterbacks.

Speaker 3 (27:59):
You know what I mean? Now, all of a sudden
he's a Heisman candidate.

Speaker 4 (28:02):
Yeah, well he is after today, no question about that.

Speaker 5 (28:05):
So with the transfer portal, the top tier blue blood
you know teams, they'll always be able to compete and
find that guy. You just need to get that quarterback.
Look out loaded to Harbor to get the quarterback right.

Speaker 2 (28:22):
Yeah, Harbor back today, by the way, on the sidelines
after the self imposed by the University of Michigan three
games suspension, Michigan an easy winner over previously undefeated Rutgers.
We are watching this UCLA Utah game and in particular
Dante Moore. Sports Illustrated picked him as the number one
high school player in the country two years ago, and
he just threw a touchdown pass.

Speaker 4 (28:43):
So they just had a ninety nine yard drive.

Speaker 3 (28:45):
Yep.

Speaker 2 (28:46):
This kid before this drive is like was like eight
of twenty nine passing an eighteen year old freshman.

Speaker 4 (28:53):
And he just went ninety nine yards.

Speaker 2 (28:56):
There's only three and a half minutes to go on
the fourth quarter of uclare point away from making this
a one score game.

Speaker 3 (29:02):
As you sit here in your UCLA poll.

Speaker 2 (29:05):
And I am, of course because I am a grad.
I mean, he's twelve for thirty two today, obviously growing pains.
He started the game with the pick six, but and
much like Shador Sanders and what he's had to endure
today on the road against Oregon is this is a
character builder in a position where you have to be
a leader.

Speaker 4 (29:25):
You have to be a leader and a team.

Speaker 2 (29:28):
You go down with the ship, you get the accolades
when you're playing well. Very impressed with young Dante Moore
in this last drive. I mean it was just boom, boom, boom.
They were right down the field after not moving the
ball the entire time. But even in these in the
college years, I mean, it's it's something from that has

(29:48):
to be because I've said this million times about the
definition of a leader. A leader is someone that inspires
others to follow. You can't just say you're the leader.
That's not the way it works. Leaders are born, I
just believe that, and you've got to be able to
inspire others to follow. And this has to be starting
at the quarterback position at the collegiate level. So even

(30:09):
though it's been a tough day for Dante Moor Ucla,
a tougher day for Shador Sanders at Colorado, I like
what I see in both of these guys and holding
it together and still running out on that field and
say let's get it done, even if the odds are
against them.

Speaker 5 (30:23):
I don't care how great you are, You're not going
to win them all. And as long as you understand
that and understand what it takes and what you need
to do after a loss, that's what makes a leader.
I coach my kids, I coach basketball, coach baseball. You
learn more from the losses than you do from the wins.

(30:44):
And it's not only for players, it's for coaches, it's
for everyone. Life lessons are taught through the through the losses.

Speaker 3 (30:55):
Right.

Speaker 5 (30:56):
When you win, you win, you're celebrating a triumphant moment.
When you lose, you have to understand, Okay, what happened,
What could I have done different? What do I need
to work on? That's self reflection, that's self growth. So
for this Colorado team, for instance, they're not going to
win this game, but what can you learn from this? Right,

(31:18):
because they have a better team that they have to
play next week.

Speaker 4 (31:21):
That homely get USC right, which.

Speaker 5 (31:24):
Is makes Oregon look like fbscool, right, I mean, the bottom.

Speaker 4 (31:29):
Line, talents on that USC ras they'll all be the.

Speaker 5 (31:33):
Half of them be in the league in the next
two years. So the reality of it when you play
and you compete at a power and a Power five conference, right,
talent is everywhere. Can you cultivate it? Can you harness it?
And it's important. No one expected. First of all, no
one expected Colorado be three and oh, but no one

(31:54):
expected after being three and oh, nobody with realistic expectations
expected them to go undefeated.

Speaker 3 (32:02):
Right.

Speaker 5 (32:03):
I had them capped out at about six win If
they got six wins and were Built Bowl eligible, that's
a miraculous turnaround from one to eleven.

Speaker 2 (32:10):
Look, they were twenty one point underdogs today. So the
fact that Oregon's gonna win is not the story. The
way that Oregon has won this.

Speaker 3 (32:17):
Game, that is the story.

Speaker 2 (32:18):
That is the story. And right now Colorado is threatened.
They have a fourth down, that's like their last chance. Here,
three and a half minutes to go in the fourth quarter,
Oregon leading forty two to nothing total yards, like a
four to one difference in favor of Oregon, and they
got a first down and they are inside the ten
yard line. So maybe Colorado can at least escape with

(32:40):
a score in this game. All right, coming up on
the other side. I don't know if anyone knows this, Eve,
I don't know if you know this. I have a
Heisman vote and I would like to get you updated
through last week's games where I stand one, two, three
in the Heisman race.

Speaker 4 (32:55):
This is Fox Football Saturday with Lef Slot my action.

Speaker 8 (33:02):
No row looks long has a touchdown Allabama.

Speaker 2 (33:09):
That's Eli Gold from lear Field, Alabama, big win over
Ole Miss by a score of twenty four to ten.
Once again, we are live from the tiraq dot Com studios.

Speaker 4 (33:21):
Okay, it's that time.

Speaker 1 (33:24):
This countdown co Heisman Watch.

Speaker 2 (33:31):
So my fourteenth year that I'll be voting for the
most esteemed award in all of college football and the
most famous trophy in American sports. When you say it's
the most identifiable trophy an American sports, he from the
Heisman Trophy.

Speaker 3 (33:47):
Absolutely yeah, No, I mean, who wouldn't.

Speaker 4 (33:49):
Want one of those monsters on the mantle.

Speaker 2 (33:52):
So each week I like to update you through the
previous week's schemes. My top three Heisman finished. Here is
my current number three.

Speaker 10 (34:03):
All Dynamite, and they'll throw it toward the ends and
again to Jack Westover again touchdown in a flash. Jack
Westover sets the ball down and celebrates with his teammates
after his second touchdown catch of the ball game, and
the Huskies are humiliating Michigan State in their own stadium.

Speaker 2 (34:21):
Tony Krasasony from Larfield. Right there, Michael Panis Junior has
had over four hundred yards passing in each of his
three games before University of Washington at top ten team
Penis is my current number three.

Speaker 4 (34:36):
Here is my number two. Caleb fakes the handoff to
Austin Jones. He's gonna go big, looking long for Brendan Rice.

Speaker 9 (34:44):
He's got a touchdown, USA long.

Speaker 2 (34:49):
Touchdown pass seven ninety KBC. All right, they didn't play
last week, doesn't matter. Look at the three games this
guy has had already. The raining Heisman Trophy winner Caleb
Williams back at the University of Southern California.

Speaker 4 (35:02):
Is my number two. Here is my number one.

Speaker 11 (35:06):
Shoulder steps over to pocket, flushed to the near side,
rifles hit down field.

Speaker 12 (35:11):
Jimmy Hart Junior cut the fourteen pollutes a man to
the inside, touchdown, touchdown. Colorado never two points away from
a tie game.

Speaker 4 (35:22):
All right, Mark Johnson from lear Field.

Speaker 2 (35:24):
There you heard it through last week's games, and that
was impressive, the comfort behind win even at home against
a big underdog. Colorado State secured what you predicted because
I asked you. Now I have to admit Shoudoor Sanders
the course. Now you predicted they were going to win
that game like seventy to fourteen. You remember all the pregame
hype and everything else. Colorado State outplayed Colorado for most

(35:47):
of that game, but Sanders was able to engineer that
huge drive and two point conversion to send it in overtime.
So I don't know if I'm going to be saying
the name shudor Sanders again on my.

Speaker 4 (35:59):
Own nice the list not next week.

Speaker 2 (36:01):
You will not be next week, And I don't know
if we're going to see it again. All right, what's
happening right now in this Ucla Utah game? With seconds left?
Utah is beating Ucla by a score of fourteen to seven.
But they're having to separate the teams right now?

Speaker 3 (36:17):
Yes, our feelings, man, when you lose.

Speaker 2 (36:20):
Oh, Ucla was an underdog in it, but they felt
like they had the better team.

Speaker 5 (36:25):
They've had some early success. They beat up on my
ass text a couple of weeks weeks ago.

Speaker 2 (36:29):
They played North Carolina Central and Coastal Carolina.

Speaker 3 (36:33):
And then the Aztecs.

Speaker 2 (36:34):
They hadn't even played a Power five conference team yet. Well,
we've got some fisticuffs going on right now, and it's
not over. I see UCLA players turning around and heading back.

Speaker 4 (36:45):
Okay, I like.

Speaker 3 (36:46):
This youth and energy.

Speaker 4 (36:48):
You remember the fight? You remember the same fight? Remember
the San Diego State fight with the U Yes? Oh
that was That was legend? Is that all time?

Speaker 3 (36:56):
That was legend?

Speaker 4 (36:59):
That was I believe that was Marshall Fox freshman year.
Freshman year, that was legendary.

Speaker 2 (37:06):
That's a good one, everybody. I mean, at the collegiate level,
anything like that. The NFL's got all kinds of stuff
going out. I know that those are many, and I
get a little crazy out there.

Speaker 4 (37:15):
Money it's on go on.

Speaker 3 (37:16):
How long have you had Heisman?

Speaker 2 (37:19):
The first year was twenty ten, Cam Newton's year. There's
only twice.

Speaker 3 (37:23):
They just hand those votes out to anybody.

Speaker 2 (37:25):
No, no, no, the only those people that actually had
I believe I should.

Speaker 4 (37:28):
Have the only vote, to be honest. Oh wow, Okay,
not that I'm bragging.

Speaker 2 (37:32):
Not only twice have I picked someone on my final
ballot that did not win the Heisman Trophy. I had
Manti Tale over Johnny Manziel when Notre Dame was undefeated.

Speaker 3 (37:42):
And he had that that's not a bad peak.

Speaker 2 (37:44):
And then I had Christian McCaffrey over Dereck Henry McCaffrey
set the old time.

Speaker 4 (37:50):
It was close.

Speaker 5 (37:50):
Fo Yeah, I'm both of them, so, I mean, the
only problem was nobody outside of the West Coast ever
watched Christian McCaffrey play.

Speaker 4 (37:57):
That was that wasn't fair.

Speaker 5 (38:00):
I mean, had you can't expect eyeballs at ten thirty
every Saturday night, East Coast time.

Speaker 4 (38:06):
He's good. He's still good, still good.

Speaker 2 (38:09):
You know, he's that combination of the versatility as a receiver.
He was a return he did everything, but he's also
a power runner.

Speaker 5 (38:17):
I've known him since he was a wee itty bitty boy.

Speaker 4 (38:20):
Really, so you're friends with his father.

Speaker 5 (38:24):
Great great teammate of mine when I played for the
Denver Broncos. Sure, Eddie mack ed McCaffrey. Beautiful wife Lisa,
who was my favorite of all of the McCaffrey clan.

Speaker 3 (38:36):
Lisa was amazing. You know.

Speaker 4 (38:38):
It's interesting.

Speaker 2 (38:39):
My last year working for the Raiders, we hired thirty
five year old Mike Shanahan. I met his eight year
old son. Oh yeah, yeah, Kyle. Yeah, that's how that's
when I met Kyle.

Speaker 5 (38:52):
We used we used to throw balls at Kyle at
training camp as he'd be out there and we used
to just throw balls at him and peg him in
the back of the head. And then it was funny
because he would come in and he would play video
games with us Halo, and then fast forward when I
was in Denver and he was the offensive coordinator. Yeah,

(39:16):
when he got off work, we would get online and
play at home against each other.

Speaker 3 (39:24):
Love Kyle, man.

Speaker 2 (39:25):
It is amazing when you look at the forty nine
ers right now, because we didn't really get a chance
to follow up after our conversation with Adam Kaplan. I
know the Cowboys have looked really good and I even
said before the season began, could this be the year
that finally it's going to come together for the Cowboys?

Speaker 4 (39:40):
I mean Micaeh Parsons is Defensive Player of the Year.

Speaker 3 (39:42):
And then Treyvon digs get Hurst.

Speaker 2 (39:44):
Yeah, well again, but I mean this forty nine er team,
is this the best team in football?

Speaker 4 (39:50):
I believe?

Speaker 5 (39:50):
So you look at this schedule. They have the Cardinals. Yep,
they have a tough game against the Dallas Cowboys. That's
going to be I've seen amazing Sunday night foot game
in two weeks.

Speaker 3 (40:02):
Oh, I'll be in uh, I'll be in London. I believe.

Speaker 5 (40:07):
We have the Browns, the Vikings, the Bengals, the Jaguars,
the Buccaneers, the Seahawks. So just there, we're looking at
a heck of a run. They can end up being
somewhere in the nine and one range.

Speaker 3 (40:24):
Yeah range.

Speaker 4 (40:25):
You actually were thinking undefeated.

Speaker 3 (40:27):
Yeah, I really was.

Speaker 4 (40:28):
You're thinking twenty and.

Speaker 3 (40:29):
Oh I'm thinking I'm thinking.

Speaker 4 (40:34):
All right, well, hang on to that thought.

Speaker 2 (40:36):
We got some huge college games coming up, including Ohio
State and Notre Dame. We're gonna break it down for you.
This is Fox Football Saturday.

tierraq dot Com. We're gonna help get you there and
that match selection, fast reshipping. Free road has a protection
over ten thousand recommended installers ti raq dot com the
way tire buying should be. We had a record number
of games today between three and O teams.

Speaker 3 (41:21):
Oh I love that.

Speaker 2 (41:22):
Not all of them undefeated, I mean all ranked, obviously,
but I think it was an all time record, at
least dating back to I don't know, like nineteen seventy eight,
most matchups of three and oh teams. And we've had
some interesting results already. We got some big games coming up. Actually,
this is a matchup of a three and oh and
a four and O team that would be Ohio State

(41:44):
on the road against Notre Dame.

Speaker 4 (41:47):
This is this is a little rough for me.

Speaker 2 (41:49):
Because as a kid growing up the son of a trojan, obviously,
Notre Dame was a regular on the schedule. I hated
Notre Dame, and then USC seem to play Ohio State
in the Rose Bowl every year, so I didn't like
Ohio State.

Speaker 4 (42:04):
So obviously these.

Speaker 2 (42:05):
Are two of the most esteemed programs in the history
of college football.

Speaker 4 (42:10):
Very interesting matchups.

Speaker 2 (42:11):
Only the eighth time ever that Notre Dame in Ohio
State have actually met each other. If you don't You've
always heard that term Game of the century. The first
game of the century and college football was back in
nineteen thirty five. The first time Ohio State played Notre Dame.
Notre Dame was down thirteen nothing came back to win
eighteen thirteen. That games still a legend in certain circles

(42:35):
if you're over the age of one hundred and then
and the next year they had a rematch and Notre
Dame won again by a score of seven to two,
which is a nineteen thirty six type score. They would
not meet again until nineteen ninety five, the year that
Eddie George won the Heisman in Ohio State. Ohio State
won that day and they've won four games since. So

(42:56):
the last time Notre Dame defeated Ohio State was nineteen
thirty six. But this is a different Notre Dame team
he from. They got, first of all, a Hartman at quarterback,
which is exciting to me. Sam Hartman, are we really have.

Speaker 4 (43:11):
We traced down the lineage? There are we related to them? Okay,
here's the one thing.

Speaker 2 (43:15):
And I was talking to my son, Garrett, my younger
son is actually a year older than Sam Hartman, So
I mean this guy could be easily be my son obviously,
but that facial hair, that perfect thick black beard that
he has does not running the my heart.

Speaker 4 (43:31):
We just can't really grow that facial air.

Speaker 2 (43:33):
But I'm gonna take But they also have a guy
that's leading the nation and rushing yards in estimate.

Speaker 4 (43:38):
So they have a lot of weapons.

Speaker 2 (43:41):
On this Notre Dame team, and it's gonna be at
Notre Dame Stadium.

Speaker 5 (43:47):
Let me ask you this, Yes, since you grew up
with a dislike of both of these teams, yes, who
are we pulling for?

Speaker 4 (43:55):
M That's a great well. I got a root for
the Hartman kid.

Speaker 2 (44:00):
Now, you know, with obviously Sanders today and the misfortune
of running into the buzzsaw in Oregon vacating his heist
and slot next week, Sam Hartman obviously, a big win
at home against Ohio State could put him at the top.

Speaker 4 (44:13):
Of the list. That might put him at the top
of the Yes.

Speaker 2 (44:16):
Thirteen touchdowns no picks so far this year over a
thousand yards past.

Speaker 5 (44:19):
Yeah, because he's going to have to be outstanding to
be able to pull this off. Because Ohio State has
something to proof. Oh yeah, they have something to prove.
They can taste and feel the football playoffs. And that's
why I love early on having all these undefeated and
ranked teams playing against each other. I can't stand when

(44:42):
the teams are playing against the Citadel and Northeast Western
Tech University. And I want meaningful college football games.

Speaker 4 (44:53):
Every week.

Speaker 5 (44:53):
And I think with the expansion of the twelve team
playoffs next year, you will see more top tier football
games earlier on in the season because teams will know
one loss won't eliminate you from an opportunity to play
for a national championship.

Speaker 4 (45:12):
Yeah, and depending on who you lose, two two losses
may not take you out of it.

Speaker 2 (45:16):
As can you imagine us sitting here a year from now,
You're getting ready for a twelve school play like that's
the first legit playoff in the history of college football.

Speaker 5 (45:26):
Too many teams, I know you like eight eight, give
me eight. Twelve doesn't deserve it.

Speaker 2 (45:31):
I told you a three loss tea. Rich Harnberger wants
sixty eight like they have in the basketball richer right,
He's trying to get his Nitney Lion in there.

Speaker 3 (45:42):
Well, you need to get them in there.

Speaker 2 (45:44):
Uh so we do have that matchup. Look at you know,
notre Dame. I put it this way when it comes
to the big schools, and I have to say this
about USC or in Alabama or a o Highest State
or Notre Dame, and it's the same thing college basketball
with a Kentucky or a Duke or UCLA. When you

(46:06):
have legendary schools in a certain sport and they're relevant,
that's good for the sports. I mean it's like right
now with like in Major League Baseball, with the Yankees
not making the playoffs.

Speaker 4 (46:21):
That's not good for baseball.

Speaker 2 (46:23):
You want the Yankees to be in the playoffs because
even if you're rooting against them.

Speaker 4 (46:27):
You're rooting you're watching down.

Speaker 2 (46:31):
So Notre Dame Ohio State are both legendary programs and
having a game like this that is an elite matchup
with these two teams, it's great for college football.

Speaker 5 (46:43):
Yeah, got joke, Thaisman, there do you have Vince Vaughn
Brian Urlacker?

Speaker 4 (46:48):
Brian Urlacker in New Mexico?

Speaker 3 (46:51):
Brian, what are you doing there?

Speaker 4 (46:54):
I bet?

Speaker 2 (46:54):
I guess he became an honorary Notre Dame fan as
a Chicago Bear.

Speaker 4 (46:58):
I guess to New Mexico played for Rocky.

Speaker 3 (47:01):
Love, he did play for I played against Brian.

Speaker 4 (47:04):
He was a hell of a college. He did everything
like he returned punch.

Speaker 5 (47:08):
Well, he was was a real athlete like you know
it just uh, he just stuck out on film every time,
every time he watched him, he was all over the place.

Speaker 4 (47:19):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (47:19):
So getting back to a couple of games that were
played a little bit earlier today and again when we
look at some of these matchups and the final results. Alabama,
as we mentioned beating Old Miss today, that was a
huge game for Nick Saban. They needed that, they needed
that in the worst way, and their quarterback played well
after getting benched a week ago.

Speaker 4 (47:39):
Saban, I'm sure was hearing it.

Speaker 1 (47:42):
I have.

Speaker 2 (47:43):
I have never seen a week where there was more
anti Nick Saban sentiment than this past week or even
you know the fine was his name, Paul Finebaud what's
his name? Yeah, he I mean he's saying it's over.
He's basically indicating, and that guy's like mister sec And

(48:05):
for them to come up, especially in a defensive side
and do what they did Old Miss, because you know,
Lane Kevin knows the Nick Saban playbook. He knows everything
about it. And a veteran quarterback in Jackson Dart and
he got shut down today. So yeah, sometimes the obituary
is a little premature.

Speaker 5 (48:21):
Well it is, and especially when you have when you're
writing one for the greatest college football coach of all time,
it's hard to pin that obituary after three games. So
it look, will they continue on and will they be
in the college football Championship I mean playoffs? I don't know,

(48:45):
maybe not because that quarterback position is a little shaky.

Speaker 4 (48:50):
Well, they have to run the table.

Speaker 2 (48:51):
They have to run the tab even if they somehow
got to the se championship and lost Georgi, they will.

Speaker 3 (48:57):
Lose to Georgia.

Speaker 2 (48:58):
Yeah, Wellia trying to still work out their quarterback situation.

Speaker 5 (49:02):
There they are, but it's the defense for Georgia. Georgia,
I don't know how you can lose that many starters
on defense.

Speaker 4 (49:08):
And they all go to the Philadelphiagos.

Speaker 5 (49:10):
They they all go to the Eagles, believable and still
have the level of talent they have up front and
in that secondary.

Speaker 4 (49:21):
It just blows my mind.

Speaker 5 (49:22):
And that is what we call a pipeline, you know,
that's a that's a power struggle at the top for
dominance over college football. And Georgia has to plant Alabama
at this time. And I know that just burns Nick
saving up.

Speaker 2 (49:39):
I know it's just well, think about this. The AP
poll started nineteen thirty six. No one has ever been
the AP National champion three years in a row. And obviously,
if you win the playoff, you're automatically going to be
the EP champion.

Speaker 4 (49:51):
Georgia's trying to pull that off this year.

Speaker 3 (49:52):
They are.

Speaker 2 (49:53):
I think that this Notre Dame, Ohio state game winner
could be the prime challenger. I would agree with that,
especially if it's Notre Dame. When you have a six
year quarterback. When you think about Sam Hartman's career at
Wake Forest throwing for well over ten thousand yards, and
then you go to Notre Dame with that kind of
resume where you're obviously throwing the ball to much more

(50:16):
talent receivers.

Speaker 4 (50:18):
That you ever had at Wake Forest.

Speaker 5 (50:20):
With this kid right here, Marvin Harris Junior, Marvin Harrah's
son Junior, hate it playing against his father. Yes, And
Peyton Manning just drove us crazy being on two teams
where they were in our division. Yes, Oh God, just
wide open again, like why is he so wide open?

(50:43):
His son shifts the same sentiment even when he's not
wide open, Throw it up to him.

Speaker 3 (50:47):
He'll make it happen.

Speaker 2 (50:48):
Well, he's one of those kids, the son of a
Hall of famer that talent wise is probably better in
sheer physical Well, how father will tell you that as well. Yeah,
well father say that anyway.

Speaker 5 (51:02):
No, but I'm saying I have a nine year old.
We were basket, we were training basket.

Speaker 4 (51:05):
Is he ahead of you?

Speaker 5 (51:05):
Were he? I'm not even on his level now? Okay
at nine years old?

Speaker 4 (51:12):
I am?

Speaker 2 (51:13):
You remember when you were nine? Is that the great
part about being a dad? And you started going back
in time?

Speaker 4 (51:18):
Like? Where was I at this stage?

Speaker 5 (51:19):
I remember being nine, eating cereal and watching cartoons. He's
getting up at eight thirty and going to train with
the coach.

Speaker 4 (51:29):
Now wait a second, here are you? Are you? I
know I know you very well. I know you're You're
going to let him do his thing.

Speaker 3 (51:35):
Yeah, he wants to go to the him.

Speaker 4 (51:36):
You have to pull the reins back a little bit.
A nine year old. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, I ain't.
Don't want to burn out too quick. Well, no, he
wanted to.

Speaker 5 (51:44):
We just came off the Summer Championship for nine you
and he wanted to roll right in the fall and
then right into winter. And I said, no, no, no, we're
going to take fall off.

Speaker 3 (51:54):
You're going to.

Speaker 5 (51:54):
Focus on school. Yeah, we're in school now. We're going
to earn winter basketball. But what we'll do is we'll train.
We'll have a coach, Allen, who's a tremendous trainer.

Speaker 4 (52:08):
Could you remind him you graduated high school when you
were sixteenth? Yeah, oh yeah, I won't do that to
him though, Okay, I won't do that to him. You don't. Well,
here's the problem with skipping grades, obviously, is the physical.

Speaker 2 (52:18):
Maturity, especially with the boy. Yeah, you know, also with
the girls getting a little older. You don't want to,
you know, put him.

Speaker 4 (52:23):
Back for me. Well, you were always big, a big
kid for your age.

Speaker 5 (52:29):
Oh, he's gonna be taller than me. Really, he's a
nine year old giant right now.

Speaker 2 (52:34):
Okay, so what are they projecting? Six eight sixty nine? No,
he said, six six eleven, six ten, six eleven.

Speaker 4 (52:41):
My wife is almost six feet tall.

Speaker 2 (52:43):
Man.

Speaker 4 (52:43):
I know that, I know the gene pool was solid.

Speaker 3 (52:45):
Den superior DNA.

Speaker 4 (52:47):
Man, that's what's happening.

Speaker 2 (52:49):
No, my dear friend Michael Thompson, who of course became
the father of three professional athet Yes.

Speaker 4 (52:57):
He is.

Speaker 2 (52:58):
His beautiful wife Julie, who was played volleyball. He said
many times on air breeding.

Speaker 4 (53:04):
Purposes, Hey man, we fell we fell in love.

Speaker 5 (53:08):
Later I saw her, I said, hey, you and I
should make sumpure your human being exactly.

Speaker 4 (53:15):
Yes, there you have it all right, Well, good luck
with that. I will continue on.

Speaker 2 (53:19):
We got to get back to the little NFL news
and get ready for a full sled of games. On
week three in the NFL, this is Fox fourths Saturday.

Speaker 3 (53:28):
Moore brings a man.

Speaker 11 (53:28):
In motion as he stands in the shotgun and he'll
pass on first down. Dante More intercepted already read ten five.
It's a touchdown up pick six on the opening play.

Speaker 3 (53:41):
And you talk strikes first.

Speaker 11 (53:43):
Here on home coming, they don't ask you how, they
just ask you how many. And that's four in a
row for Utah to begin the season shorthanded. And on
homecoming Saturday in Salt Lake City, the you'ge speak the
UCLA Bruins by a final score of fourteen.

Speaker 2 (54:00):
That's ESPN seven hundred and ninety two point one. Ka
l lam. The Utes get revenge for last year UCLA
beat up on Utah last year forty two to thirty two.
But this time that Utah defense shuts down Dante Moor
in company and win that game by a score of
fourteen to seven.

Speaker 4 (54:20):
Disappointing for me.

Speaker 2 (54:21):
And yes, you will see me e from in my
UCLA shirt every single Saturday, every single Saturday. By the way,
this is Fox Football Saturday and we are live from
the tire rack dot Com studios. I've been meaning to
ask you this throughout the show today. I want to
get your thoughts on what went down with Deshaun Watson
last week. I mean, it's rare that we ever see

(54:42):
a face mass penalty on a quarterback.

Speaker 3 (54:45):
Or any offensive player.

Speaker 2 (54:46):
But you saw two in the same game. Two you
saw two personal foul penalties against Deshaun Watson. He also
shoved an official and miraculously stayed in the game. He
seemed to have a short few throughout that entire matchup.
Pittsburgh ended up winning that game, of course, it started
with a picked six, much like that UCLA Yuctah game started.

(55:08):
But what what do you thinks going on in the
head of Deshaun Watson right now? As the Browns get
ready to host the Titans it's.

Speaker 3 (55:15):
A lot of pressure.

Speaker 5 (55:17):
He knows the world is watching to see if he
can get back to form. He knows he has the
biggest contract in terms of guaranteed money. He knows he's
he's in the process of pulling himself out of the
depths of despair through his own behavior, and so all

(55:43):
of those things combined of being at a franchise that's
looking to him to be the answer to the often
not answered question of what are we doing at quarterback?
For the for the Browns, it can be it can
be a lot, and you start to see lashing out,

(56:04):
you know, things of that nature. It's a lot of
pressure on him because a lot is to be expected
because he was paid a lot of money here at
the time where you know he was going through the
probably the worst time of his life.

Speaker 4 (56:20):
For the ninety nine point.

Speaker 2 (56:23):
Percent of the people listening right now who will never
see that kind of money that some of these guys
make a month in a lifetime, the mindset is always this, well,
how bad could you feel if you're getting that kind
of money. I mean, I could be having the worst
day ever, but if I see that paycheck, I'm feeling good.

Speaker 4 (56:44):
But that is not the way it operates.

Speaker 3 (56:46):
Well, that's not human nature.

Speaker 4 (56:48):
It isn't you think it would be unless you're in
that position.

Speaker 3 (56:51):
Because your money is not tied to your emotion.

Speaker 4 (56:54):
Correct.

Speaker 2 (56:55):
See, this is something that people that don't have money
always feel like, Well, if I had money, I wouldn't
have any worries. I would feel no pain if my
bank account was loaded with money.

Speaker 5 (57:07):
No, you wouldn't feel the pain calls by not having money. Right,
But that's not the only pain that we endure. Are
the only issues and problems we endure in the world.

Speaker 2 (57:19):
To get to the highest level in sports and whatever
your sport is the pain, the sacrifice not only by
you but those around you to get you in that
position where you weren't making any money, where there were
no promises that you would even get to the finished line.
That doesn't go away. You don't forget that. The competitiveness

(57:43):
what it takes if you are the best, you want
to compete against the best. So no amount of money
in your bank account is going to ease the pain
if you're not living up to your own expectations.

Speaker 5 (57:59):
Yeah, I mean we all have things, our expectations or
goals that we want to accomplish in life. And you know,
a lot of emotional despair comes from not being able
to accomplish those goals when you want to, not being
able to find out why you can't accomplish those goals.

(58:20):
Aside from from being paid to be a professional athlete, Uh,
there's a there's a heavy mental health aspect that goes
along with that, because you know, if you worked in
an office building, you wouldn't have the world having access

(58:40):
to your job and telling you what you're doing wrong.

Speaker 4 (58:46):
What's the kid's name it? Uh?

Speaker 5 (58:49):
He had published some of his his d ms on
social media after after a game and the things that
people are saying, Oh.

Speaker 2 (59:01):
When you're talking about the Pittsburgh running back, Yes, yeah
it was no, the the the Broncos, Yeah no, no, no,
I keep getting right, the vikings, the vikings.

Speaker 3 (59:12):
I was gonna let you keep going through to eventually
you're going to get.

Speaker 2 (59:15):
I mean, you know, Dalvin Cook's gone obviously, and they
were counting on this guy to see.

Speaker 5 (59:20):
Critical moment in the game. Which is it. That's just
what it is, right, It's a game. And the hatred
and vitriol people were showing towards him in a racist,
negative manner.

Speaker 3 (59:34):
I mean, it's deplorable.

Speaker 4 (59:35):
It is deplorable.

Speaker 2 (59:36):
But there are others that said to him, I hate
to tell you this, I've been getting the same things.

Speaker 4 (59:42):
That's just what it is. I just don't call attention
to them. That's what. First of all, you have.

Speaker 5 (59:46):
To be able to to insulate yourself right from the
outside world. The thing that social media did is gave
everybody a voice. What we realized is everybody doesn't deserve
a voice. So so it's a situation where just as
you can get praise, you can get hatred.

Speaker 4 (01:00:08):
When Twitter first hit the scene.

Speaker 2 (01:00:11):
And you get it out there and immediately you're gonna
get those negatives right. And I did something once and
I learned never to do it again. I got into
a back and forth with someone that had like one follower,
Oh no, and the guy was good, I mean he
was getting some good digs in and I was, you know,

(01:00:32):
and I going back going down this rabbit hole, and
I'm like, what am I doing.

Speaker 5 (01:00:36):
You're literally talking to yourself exactly. It's like being in
your closet getting dressed and arguing with you.

Speaker 4 (01:00:42):
You never did I was fifteen years ago. Never did
it again.

Speaker 5 (01:00:45):
And people they want that. Yes, they want that. One
guy with three followers, right, wants to go back and forth.

Speaker 2 (01:00:52):
And Madison got this guy out there, even if he's
didn't that him by name.

Speaker 5 (01:00:56):
Hey man, I don't even pay attention to it because
nothing anyone and can tell me outside of my family
on my circle. I'm not gonna let that have an
effect on my life and how I go about my business.

Speaker 4 (01:01:07):
Right.

Speaker 2 (01:01:08):
Well, let's face it, when somebody close to you is
critical of something, something that you've done or you behaved,
it only hurts when you know they're right. Yeah, you
have to like, I mean, someone could just say something
critical and you're like, you know, it's the introspective you
like when someone close to you hits that nerve where
you're like, you got me.

Speaker 4 (01:01:28):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (01:01:29):
It's like when me and when me and my wife
will get into an argument. It's like, all right, I'm wrong.

Speaker 3 (01:01:39):
Okay.

Speaker 4 (01:01:40):
So I went to see the ear doctor the other day.

Speaker 2 (01:01:43):
Yeah, the guy's checking my ears and everything, and he goes, uh,
don't I don't see anything really wrong here.

Speaker 4 (01:01:52):
I mean, you know, you're getting older. It's not as
sharp as it used to be.

Speaker 2 (01:01:55):
I go, the only reason I'm here is because my
ex wife set this a point and up because she
claims I can't hear when she doesn't understand it's not
that I can't hear, it's that I choose not to hear.

Speaker 5 (01:02:09):
I've trained myself not to hear your frequency of voice exactly.

Speaker 2 (01:02:13):
So so she panicked sent me to the doctor. He goes,
do you want to give it the MRI like an
mr Ry.

Speaker 3 (01:02:20):
No, no, no, no.

Speaker 2 (01:02:21):
Find I appeased her by showing up this one time,
and I'm walking out that door. I let's find out
what is trending right now, here's the man we need
to hear immediately, because he's right went from that seat
across the way into this seat and a short amount
of time Martin wis is here.

Speaker 9 (01:02:38):
You know, Steve, your ex wife might have been onto something,
because I do take that chair that you're sitting in afterwards,
and the volume on your headphones is egregious.

Speaker 4 (01:02:46):
I just have to say, I say this Martin a lot.

Speaker 2 (01:02:48):
It's not that I just nothing stimulates me more than
the sound of my own voice. I mean, I'll be
perfectly honest. Nothing energizes me like the sound of my
own voice.

Speaker 9 (01:02:59):
Well, you're in the right busines. This right now, let's
get into some college football. Number twelve LSU playing host
to Arkansas MIDWA. Through the first quarter, the Razorbacks have
a three to nothing lead. Number fourteen Oregon State. Verse
number twenty one Washington State, the Cougars with an early
fourteen to nothing lead.

Speaker 4 (01:03:13):
Catch that one on Fox TV.

Speaker 9 (01:03:14):
Number six Frank Ohio State number nine right now to
Dame they're about to kick off.

Speaker 4 (01:03:18):
In previous scores.

Speaker 9 (01:03:20):
Number ten Oregon they rolled Colorado forty two to six,
Colorado getting a feel good touchdown at the end there
to make it six. Eleventh thrank Jutah beat number twenty
two UCLA fourteen to seven, and Nick Saban moved to
twenty nine to three against his former assistance as thirteen
drank Alabama scores twenty four beats Old Miss by twenty

(01:03:40):
four to ten over number fifteen Old Miss the Rebels,
of course, coach by Lane Kiffin, and number twenty Miami
House to Temple forty one to seven. In the NFL,
Browns running back Nick Chubb somehow only tore his MCL
after that gruesome hit on Monthday night. I mean, think
about this, hey. From recovery time slated for six to
eight months. I thought he was never playing football again

(01:04:01):
after watching that hit Miami Dolphin drive receiver Jaalen Wattle
and concussion protocol ruled out for Sunday's game. Robbie Chosen
formerly Robbie Anderson is elevated from Miami's practice squad, and
Wattles place New Orleans Saints running back to Marow Williams
place on IR for a hamstring hill miss at least
the next four games. And Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow listened
as questionable from Monday Night's game against the Rams. I'm

(01:04:22):
Martin Weiss back to you, Steve. Could you hear that?

Speaker 2 (01:04:24):
I can. You're pretty loud, Martin. Not as loud as me,
you know, pretty loud. I'll turn it down a little bit.
When I remind me from that, I'll turn this down
so I don't want out his ears exactly once again.
Where Comedy Alive? From the tire rack dot com Studios.
How about the Cougars of Washington State jumping all over
Oregon State fourteen to nothing? You talk about underrated quarterbacks.

(01:04:47):
Cameron Ward, the Washington State quarterback two years ago, through
forty seven touchdown passes last year, he dipped a little bit,
but he came into this matchup nine touchdowns, no picks,
completing seventy two percent of his pass and in this
game against one of the best defenses in this conference,
Oregon State, five of six, one hundred and thirty seven
yards and a touchdown. There's a lot, you know. I

(01:05:09):
would love to be able to get.

Speaker 4 (01:05:11):
A non quarterback in the mix for the Heisman. I
really would.

Speaker 2 (01:05:15):
I mean Aiden Hutchinson a couple of years ago was
runner up for the Heisman Trophy. But these Michigan Yeah,
I mean Quorum was in the mix for much of
last year before his injury.

Speaker 4 (01:05:26):
Rock Bowers, well, I mean DeVante Smith won the Heisman. Yeah,
a couple of years ago as a wide receiver.

Speaker 2 (01:05:32):
But there are so many good college quarterbacks, especially when
he got these fifth and six year quarterbacks. Pennix is
a six year guy, Hartman is a six year guy.
I mean, it's it's a little hard to ignore these
quarterbacks this year.

Speaker 4 (01:05:45):
In college Yeah, it is.

Speaker 5 (01:05:46):
They're dominating in terms of top players. When Travis Hunter
comes back, I like him as a dominant player in
college football. We haven't seen the lights of him since
Rock Woods and even Rod he didn't play that many
offensive snaps. I mean, this kid intercepted the ball and
then against TCU and then got right back in the

(01:06:10):
huddle of offensive huddle, Like he just threw.

Speaker 4 (01:06:12):
The ball to the sideline, went and got in the huddle.
So he's playing.

Speaker 5 (01:06:15):
He was playing an average of you know, forty one
snaps on each side of the ball, which I think
is amazing and warrantined. And you know, if he doesn't
get hurt and he continues on that clip, that is
warranted of the best player in college football.

Speaker 11 (01:06:31):
I agree with you.

Speaker 2 (01:06:31):
And that's what the award is supposed to be, and
it could be at any level. You know, Steve McNair
was third in the Heisman voting, you know, playing at
out corn State.

Speaker 3 (01:06:39):
Oh, he was amazing, and he was absolutely.

Speaker 2 (01:06:41):
Amazing by the way. I was watching a game day
this morning. They were at South Bend, and you know
I was. I was actually doing some research a year
ago October. I was there on that Notre Dame campus.
And even though I have disdained for Notre Dame because
of my roots, I have nothing but you know, reverence
for their history.

Speaker 4 (01:06:58):
Obviously spent a lot of time there too. I did.
That is unbelievable.

Speaker 2 (01:07:03):
But anyway, Marcus Freeman, I saw one sign. Our coach
is better looking than your coach. I mean he's he's
one of the best looking guys ever to be against
major I think so, I mean, you know, I mean,
I don't know.

Speaker 4 (01:07:18):
He's a good looking guy. I mean, if that speaks
to you, it speaks to you. I don't know, does
that matter.

Speaker 2 (01:07:25):
I mean they also had Lou Holtz, who looks like
Granny from the Beverly Hillbillies.

Speaker 4 (01:07:29):
So I mean, you know, you don't have to be
a great looking man to be a successful coach.

Speaker 2 (01:07:35):
But I don't know if is that distracting when you
have a particularly.

Speaker 4 (01:07:39):
Handsome distracting to who though I have no idea to
the team, I don't think so.

Speaker 2 (01:07:44):
The student body of Notre Dame is jazzed by their
good looking coach. I can't wait to see this matchup here.
It's just about to kick off right down, Notre Dame
hosting Ohio State. You know this this Notre Dame team,
and I could I could sense the frustration with Brian
Kelly and why he took the LSU job, because he

(01:08:08):
had gone as far as you could possibly push Notre Dame.
Twice he got into the playoff. Well once was a
BCS championship game. The other you got in the playoff,
and both times they got routed, you know, by these
SEC powerhouses, and he had gone as far as you can.
But I don't know. Marcus Freeman, after a shaky start,
seems to have gotten this Notre Dame. I'm just been

(01:08:29):
curious if Notre Dame actually wins today, if they beat
Ohio State, huge.

Speaker 5 (01:08:34):
Huge win for the for the program in Freeman like it.
He came out and like you said, he.

Speaker 3 (01:08:41):
Started rocky, so everybody was like, oh, well, what are
we doing here?

Speaker 5 (01:08:44):
And kudos to the you know, the university for letting
him find his way. There are no instant winners, right.
You don't come right in to a national championship. You
have to change the culture. You have to bring players
in that that speak to what you're trying to do offensively, defensively,
you have to bring the right staff in. All of

(01:09:06):
these things take time, and in the short period of time,
Notre Dame has become one of those powers again.

Speaker 4 (01:09:14):
And meanwhile, I got Ryan Day's situation.

Speaker 2 (01:09:16):
Talk about a guy that could be on the hot
seat after back to back of years losing to Michigan.

Speaker 5 (01:09:21):
Yeah, that that'll losing the Michigan at Ohio State. That'll
put you on the hot seat. Why Harball has been
on the hot seat because well.

Speaker 2 (01:09:29):
There was a great coach at Ohio State, John Cooper
couldn't beat Michigan. In fact, when Tressel took over, he
said we're gonna beat Michigan.

Speaker 4 (01:09:38):
I think I think he lost once.

Speaker 5 (01:09:41):
That is the mission when you're when you're hired at
Michigan or Ohio State, you must say in your welcoming
press conference, Oh.

Speaker 4 (01:09:48):
He did it in a basketball game.

Speaker 5 (01:09:50):
Will you have to put that out there so the
people know what's going.

Speaker 2 (01:09:54):
On, right, because you that means I understand, that's I know,
I get it, National champion.

Speaker 4 (01:10:01):
Blah blah blah. Beat Michigan.

Speaker 2 (01:10:04):
Because that's why my predecessor was fired because he couldn't
beat Michigan.

Speaker 3 (01:10:10):
Can't do it.

Speaker 4 (01:10:11):
Yeah. So this is a huge game again for Ohio State. Uh.

Speaker 2 (01:10:15):
Their quarterback is off to a okay start, a little
shaky in the first game, played much better the last
couple of games, but they get the ball first.

Speaker 4 (01:10:25):
How do you like those Notre Dame jerseys. They almost
look like Oregon out there.

Speaker 3 (01:10:28):
They look like Oregon?

Speaker 2 (01:10:30):
Is it me or am I looking at Oregon with
that color scheme? I mean they still have the gold helmets,
but still that that's organish. I don't know when you
when you have classic uniforms, can't we just stay with them?

Speaker 4 (01:10:49):
No, man, times change.

Speaker 2 (01:10:52):
As six uniforms are. I mean that helmet is gorgeous.

Speaker 5 (01:10:56):
I missed the old one. I love our old one. Yeah,
but that's because I play in the old one. So
you know, times change, Everything changes, man, you just got
to go with it, all right.

Speaker 2 (01:11:05):
So right off the battle Ohio State moving the ball
against Notre Dame. I get a sense we're gonna see
quite a few points in this game today.

Speaker 5 (01:11:12):
It feels like the type of game whereas it'll be
a lot of points put up all right, shoot ups,
shootout style.

Speaker 2 (01:11:18):
Now, some other games that are going on right now.
We got Iowa and Penn State both undefe. We mentioned
how many battles between three and oh teams today. Iowa
checking at number twenty four in the latest eight people.
Penn State is at number seven.

Speaker 4 (01:11:35):
It's frankly going to.

Speaker 2 (01:11:36):
Get Penn State back in the mix. We've been knocking
on the door, haven't we the last couple of years.

Speaker 4 (01:11:40):
Yeah, he has, but he.

Speaker 2 (01:11:41):
Hasn't quite had the quarterback to get over the humph.

Speaker 5 (01:11:46):
Yeah, that's it's imperative to have that guy in college football.
Talked about it earlier, having a quarterback when you're competing
at that level in these Power five conferences and with
eyes on the College football play playoffs, you have to
have the guy under the center be formidable at a
high clip high level.

Speaker 2 (01:12:07):
So we went back to the Clemson and Alabama days
when you're seeing Deshaun Watson and Trevor Lawrence and then
you're seeing a Jalen Hurts and I mean.

Speaker 4 (01:12:16):
You know, young Mac Jones.

Speaker 3 (01:12:21):
All of them all starters in the NFL, all of them.

Speaker 2 (01:12:25):
So that's why you win national championships. You think Justin
Fields is fixable.

Speaker 3 (01:12:29):
I think he is. I think they need to because.

Speaker 4 (01:12:30):
Ohio State quarterbacks it's not pretty at the NFL.

Speaker 3 (01:12:34):
Look, you got to remember it wasn't pretty for Miami
quarterbacks as well.

Speaker 2 (01:12:37):
No, right, the irony was the quarterback that Miami had
right before Bernie Cozar. They won that first championship with
a guy named Jim Kelly. He went to the USFL
and then on to start him in the NFL.

Speaker 4 (01:12:50):
They never had it.

Speaker 2 (01:12:51):
I mean, Vinny Testiv already wasn't terrible, had a solid NFL.

Speaker 5 (01:12:55):
When you get to the next level, it's all about
the team you go to and the willingness of the
coach to make a change that fits your skill set.

Speaker 4 (01:13:05):
Well, that's a Hunter idea. I'm singing your tune.

Speaker 2 (01:13:08):
I've always said this, right, Mike, identify what did you
do well and then put you in a position to succeed.

Speaker 5 (01:13:14):
Kyle Shanahan was one of the first coaches to do
something like that when he took his story and in
history offense that his dad ran, Gary Kobiak ran the
zone offense, and he changed it for RG three because
of the talent when he was at Washington. Because of

(01:13:37):
his talent, RPOs became a read option. All those things
became a viable weapon that weren't in his classic playbook. Uh,
and they excelled. RG three was co Rookie of the
Year that year they made it to the playoffs. They
won seven in a row.

Speaker 4 (01:13:52):
He beat out and offensive rookie.

Speaker 3 (01:13:54):
Yeah yeah, yeah yeah.

Speaker 5 (01:13:55):
Then they got hurt and there's a testament to you
know that, and now that became the thing, right, so
no one in the pro had a run style offense
for quarterbacks.

Speaker 2 (01:14:07):
All right, I want to talk to you about another
NFL team on the other side.

Speaker 4 (01:14:11):
This is Fox Football Saturday.

Speaker 13 (01:14:15):
Claps his hands, has the snap back to pass. He's
going to fire it towards Samash Morgan and the end zone.
He goes up it gets a touchdown Samage Morgan. A
contested catch in the end zone. There's a flag down.

Speaker 9 (01:14:28):
Yep, defensive pass interference will decline that and we'll celebrate
that touchouf.

Speaker 13 (01:14:32):
JJ McCarthy takes the snap, they hand it off, palel
up the middle, piles forward inside the twenty five down
to the twenty two yard line, and that is going
to do it. As Jim Harbaugh and his one hundred
game as Michigan coach gets the.

Speaker 4 (01:14:49):
Thirty one seven victories.

Speaker 2 (01:14:51):
That's Doug harsh from Learfield right there, as Michigan did
defeat a previously undefeated Rutgers team by a score of
thirty one to seven. Jim harbob back on the sidelines
for the Wolverines as they moved to four and oh
on the season. That's also our Progressive Play of the Day,

the Tirack dot Com studios, thanking our crew today. Lorena
on the board. You're getting used to this now, Lorena?
Are you sort of in the rhythm of this show
right now?

Speaker 4 (01:15:34):
That's what it feels like. Yeah, a little there, getting
that little little rhythm time.

Speaker 2 (01:15:39):
Oh, Martin the last couple of Saturdays doing double duty
is ready to jump aboard to get his own show start.
And there's here's Brandon, of course his he unites each
time with E from He from you said you were
gonna talk about San Diego State losing it home to
Boise State yesterday, falling to two and three on the season.

Speaker 3 (01:15:57):
About it.

Speaker 4 (01:15:57):
I think you said we'll talk about it later when
you in the show.

Speaker 3 (01:16:00):
I just at home and to talk about it to myself.

Speaker 4 (01:16:05):
How about you?

Speaker 2 (01:16:05):
By the way, he's getting all excited about the Podres.
The Podreys were the last team in Major League Baseball
to have a four game winning streak, and now they've
won eight in a row, eight in a row, and
they actually are mathematically still alive. There are four games
out of the wild Card with eight games to play. Unfortunately,
there's four teams they have to jump over to get there.

Speaker 4 (01:16:29):
Cubbs won, Cubs won today, so they again, and let me.

Speaker 2 (01:16:34):
Look, Cubs win, Cubs win, Blake Snell.

Speaker 4 (01:16:39):
The Reds are beating up on the Pirates, so it's
pretty much over. Yeah, okay, well, don't don't give up yet.

Speaker 2 (01:16:45):
Blake Snell could join a very select group of pitchers
to have won a say Young Awards in both leagues,
and he's a free agent after this season. I wanted
to ask you after watching the New York Jets get
steamrolled by the Cowboys and Zach Wilson predictably struggling. He
has the lowest passer rating in the NFL after the

(01:17:08):
first two weeks. You can't if you're the Jets and
the talent they have on that team, you can't throw
away another season.

Speaker 3 (01:17:20):
No, no, no, no no. You don't want to waste.

Speaker 2 (01:17:23):
Your y What do you do what's your move here? Well,
because Zach Wilson doesn't have it, Let's let's be honest here.

Speaker 5 (01:17:30):
No, what I would do, honestly, I would really reach
out to Minnesota, especially if the Vikings lose and they
fall to zero and three.

Speaker 4 (01:17:45):
How about the Saints with Winston?

Speaker 5 (01:17:46):
I would My second call would be to the New
Orleans Saints. Yeah, and see if they would want to
part ways with Jamis Winston because the Saints are the
only has the luxury of having two starting quarterbacks on
the roster.

Speaker 4 (01:18:04):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (01:18:05):
And you know, before Jamis Winston got hurt last year,
he was doing much better protecting the ball.

Speaker 3 (01:18:13):
He was putting up good numbers. It just the.

Speaker 5 (01:18:16):
Maturity level we had been waiting for for five years.
It kicked in a little bit, and so I'd love
to see him with a chance to actually play and
continue to get better.

Speaker 2 (01:18:28):
I like the Winston call a lot, even going back
to that year where he threw the thirty interceptions with
thirty three touchdown passes, I don't think I think he
took too much blame for that. Bruce Arians came in
that year in Tampa and he basically green lighted him
to go down the field. I mean he was basically saying,

(01:18:49):
go for it. Yeah, we have great wide receivers, go
for it. And the next thing you look up. I mean,
that was an unbelievable year. Thirty thirty years, thirty thirty.
You will never see that again in the NFL. No
one will ever be afforded an opportunity to throw thirty
interceptions in the season again. But I love the Winston idea.

(01:19:11):
But look, I'm sorry, you know I don't wish ill
on anyone. Zach Wilson is not an NFL.

Speaker 5 (01:19:17):
He's not it. He's not the question, he's not the answer,
he's not the summary, the synopsis, the hypothesis. It's time
to move on because and it's not an attack on him. No,
not everybody can play at this level, no matter where
you've drafted. Just because you're drafted doesn't mean you can

(01:19:40):
play at this level.

Speaker 2 (01:19:41):
No.

Speaker 4 (01:19:41):
Well, we find that out over and over and over again,
and it happens every year.

Speaker 5 (01:19:46):
We get that question answered about someone every year, and
so it's one of those situations where they have to
understand that they don't want to waste this year.

Speaker 2 (01:19:56):
I'll tell you who can play, though, is this Sam Hartman?
I'm watching them right now. Dame no score early in
this game, but he's got Notre Dame moving into Ohio
state territory.

Speaker 4 (01:20:05):
Right now, and we'll see.

Speaker 2 (01:20:08):
Like I said, if we're sitting here a week from
now talking about a five to zero Notre Dame team
coming off being in Ohio State, maybe maybe for the Irish,
I think that'd be amazing.

Speaker 4 (01:20:22):
Any final thoughts on what happened to Colorado today, Hey.

Speaker 5 (01:20:26):
Look, you're not going to win them all. You can't
win them all. You got to learn from it. You
got to understand the level of competitor you're going against
for the rest of the year and try to grow
and get better.

Speaker 4 (01:20:36):
All right, Well that's going to do it for us.
But don't go anywhere as we move on, keep it
right here. This is Fox Sports Radio.
