recommended installers tairac dot com the way tire buying should be.
We are getting ready for kickoff right now. Has the
Buffalo Bills host the Miami Dolphins first of three games today? Rich?
First of all, how are you doing today? I'm doing excellent, Stephen.
There's no person I would rather be locked in with
(00:42):
for the next four hours than Steve Hartman on a
playoff football wild Cards Sunday. This is exactly where we
should be and fate has decided that it will be so,
so just strap it in. We got a lot to
get to, including the night Mayor. We all watched last
night for the Los Angeles Chargers in the second half
(01:04):
against the Jacksonville Jaguars, well last night, uh, and we're
gonna get plenty into this game because there are major
ramifications when you have the third biggest collapse in NFL
playoff history, which the Chargers had last night and losing
that game to the Jacksonville Jaguars. There's many layers to
that that we're gonna go over of the course of
(01:25):
the show today, Rich, But one thing I will say
after the game yesterday, I have been dear friends with
and co wrote a book with the current voice of
the Chargers, Matt money Smith, and I texted him Rich
right after the game. Uh no, one, of course, he
was pretty busy, well not right after the game, he
had to do post game everything else. But we were
(01:46):
just talking about an opportunity for the Chargers. Um, when
you are in Los Angeles as a professional sports franchise,
you got a lot of competition. You got the Dodgers,
you got the Lakers, you got the Rams. If you're
the Chargers in the same house who won the Super
(02:08):
Bowl a year ago. When the Chargers left San Diego
to come to l A, their ownership decided we're gonna
go with a fight for l A. Mottel like, this
was their big idea that hey, we're coming to l
A and we are fighting for you. So I'm doing
a commentary I was doing television last night in Los
(02:29):
Angeles and did a little commentary looking directly into the cameras,
speaking to management of the Chargers in general. I didn't
use any names, and I asked this question, how committed
are you to winning a championship because you have an
opportunity to do so, because you have that rarefied opportunity
(02:51):
to have a franchise quarterback, which Justin Herbert is, and
they don't come around very often, and you played with
a quarterback. There was another franchise quarterback named Philip Rivers,
and defenders of Philip Rivers always said the reason that
Philip Rivers doesn't win more games is there's not a
commitment from the organization to surround them with the players
(03:14):
to become a championship quarterback. And now they are in
a similar situation with Justin Herbert. Now it's not just
the talent around you, it's the person steering the ship.
And when you have Sean Payton available to you, if
one you're willing to eat the contract of your current
(03:36):
coach and to obviously pay a hefty price to get
a coach of the stature Sean Payton. But if you
did that, you're sending a message to this city, Fight
for l A that we are committed to winning a championship.
We will do whatever is necessary to win a championship.
And rich you've been in San Diego for a number
(03:58):
of years, we've seen management of the San Diego Padres
talk a big game and play even a bigger game.
We are committed to doing whatever it takes to bring
a championship to San Diego. So the Chargers are in
a similar situation right now because in order to get there,
(04:18):
you need a franchise quarterback, and they have that. You
just need the right people steering the ship to get
to the next level. So this to me is a
big test, as I said on my commentary last night,
to the ownership of the Chargers, will you make the
move necessary because Sean Payton's aren't always available to you.
You have a chance to get a Sean Payton because
(04:39):
you know he'll take that job an heartbeat as your
new coach if you pay the price and willing to
eat a contract. Now the question is will they do it?
I don't think so. I don't think so because if
history has shown us improved anything, it's that the Los
Angeles Chargers, then San Diego Chargers. Uh do not overspend
(05:03):
on a coach. And that's exactly what they would presumably
quantify a contract that would rival any coaching contract in
the NFL that Sean Payton could potentially land to leave
broadcast or whatever it is he's doing to amuse himself
right now and head back into the coaching circles. They
will not pay that money. I would be shocked if
they did. I mean, standing here right now. If I
(05:26):
had to bet my life on whether or not they
would sign up Sean Payton for the job, the answer
is absolutely not to bet my life on it. And hey, listen,
you know, if it came right down to it, I'll
I I hope I'm wrong. I hope I'm wrong. Because
for Justin Herbert, a quarterback who just put thirty points
on a team in a playoff game against the team
(05:49):
that was a complete, unmitigated disaster a year ago in
the Jacksonville Jaguars, Urban Meyer did his best to run
that franchise into the ground and to see them in
the postseason and put thirty points on the board. If
you just gave me that limited amount of information, I
would say the Chargers win one hundred times out of
(06:10):
one hundred times, but their defensive minded head coach Brandon
Staley somehow lad his team to giving up thirty one
to that same exact team I was talking about on
the other side of the docket, justin Herbert deserves better.
He's a superlative talent. You could put him next to
Patrick Mahomes, you could put him next to Josh Allen,
(06:33):
you could. He's better than two a tongue of Volo
who was on an m v P path this year.
He he is elite. He is one of those quarterbacks
who was once in a generation, just like Philip Rivers,
by the way, who may waste away and die on
the vine and have his legacy stained by the second
most important decision of franchise needs to be makes, which
(06:54):
is getting the right head coach alright, Like when the
Charges hired Mike McCoy and I would signed as a
free agent. You know who was up for that gig
and who they interviewed, Andy Reid, Okay, Bruce Arians, those
were some of the names who are up for that job.
They chose Mike McCoy. We saw what happened when Anthony
Lynn became the head coach. Do you know who was
(07:15):
up for the job, Sean McDermott. How's it going Bills
fans when they hired Brandon Stanley Stanley, who was up
for the gig at the same time. I mean, it's
it's it's constant that this happens with the Chargers. Well,
it's they'll think about this. Rich On the other side
(07:37):
of the field was Doug Peterson. So Jacksonville a year
ago made the worst coaching higher and followed up with
the best. If you wonder if a coach can have
a major impact on a young quarterback, Let's look what
happened yesterday to Trevor Lawrence. He starts the game four
or sixteen with four interceptions and they're down twenty seven.
Nothing is Doug Peterson panicking. No, they went to the
(08:00):
locker room and they said, all right, Chargers are doing
some things. Maybe we weren't ready for them ready now.
And we saw him go one four touchdowns the rest
of the way. That's the impact that a quality coach
in the NFL can have on a quarterback. So if
Doug Peterson could do that with Trevor Lawrence, Sean Payton
(08:21):
could certainly do that with a Justin Herbert, what we
saw in the second half of this game was the
inability of a Brandon Staley to CounterPunch the CounterPunch when
they lost the momentum. That's where a coach has to say, Okay,
come on, now here's what we're gonna do. We're seeing
what they're doing. We're gonna he had no CounterPunch. That's
(08:43):
the difference between a Doug Peterson and a Brandon Staley. So,
like you said so eloquently, as I've been making this
point at the start of the show, when you have
a talent like Justin Herbert at quarterback, as much as
they had with Philip Rivers, and you waste that, that's
on management. So um the idea that they don't pay
(09:06):
any rent, there's money to be had. We saw it again.
I keep mentioning the San Diego Padres, and the reason
being is they were deemed a small market team. Well,
we just don't have the money. That's what all s
market small market teams. We don't have the money. You
have the money, the question is are you willing to
spend the money. Potre's organization have become relevant because ownership decided,
(09:30):
you know what, we're going to spend the money because
our goal is to win a championship. Now it's up
to the Chargers to do the same thing. Sean Payton
has got You got one shot at Sean Payton. If
you don't offer the job, he could end up with
your division rival, the Denver Broncos, and they'll be a
much better team because of him, and you'll be relegated
to the back of the list. So regardless of your quarterback. Um,
(09:53):
So this is this is what comes out of this game,
is the fact that and by the way, yesterday from
Salam said Brandon Staley should have been fired after that
last regular season game misleading about the injury to Mike Williams.
He should have been fired on the spot right there,
because you and I were on the broadcast last Sunday
after the Ravens lost their game which locked the pot
(10:15):
Chargers into that fifth playoff spot. There was no winner,
lose against Denver did not matter, and we were just perplexed, like,
why are these guys blaming what is going on here?
Why would you have a Mike Williams whose battle injuries
all season long? Why is he on the field. This
(10:36):
doesn't happen with a quality coach. So you know it's
it was devastating for charge of fans like my son Garrett,
as you know, is a die hard. The only good
news was he was at work last night. How do
he actually watched that game? I know he'd probably be
hospitalized right now, but um, yeah, I mean this is
(10:57):
and and so, like you said, they passed on name
coaches for the Mike McCoy's, the Anthony Lands, the Brandon Staley's,
and you see the end result. Coaches have a major
impact in the National Football League huge. And listen, I'm
I'm not saying it's easy. I don't want to for
a second devalue the um the difficulty of selecting the
(11:22):
right guy to lead an organization. This happens in business
with ceo s. This happens at the small business level.
I mean, shoot, this happens at the employee level. How
many times ask a general manager how difficult it is
to choose a quarterback in the draft, even in the
first round, when you have the pick of the litter,
you have the first overall pick, asked them, asked them
(11:42):
how difficult it is to make those correct selections? And
then you know, put yourself in the shoes of somebody
who's made this incredible financial investment to buy into the
NFL and and to have a seat at the table
like one of these other thirty one ownership groups, and
select the person to be the president, the principal voice
and face of your organization, the head coach that's gonna
(12:05):
win you a Super Bowl. The pressure is on to
get it right. It's not easy, but the Chargers keep
doing this. They keep going for the guy who is
second tier on the list, like there there will be
a competition and a little bit of a feeding flurry
over landing in Andy Reid or landing a Sean McDermott,
or landing on the high prized UHUM coaches who are
(12:27):
being considered for jobs, and they'll say, hey, look maybe
if we take a discount here, will better be able
to afford a profit later. No, no, no, no no,
don't put the cart before the horse. Think about how
you can grow your enterprise by making the initial financial
commitment to success. And then you'll see fans showing up
(12:49):
at so FI. Then you'll see fans buying Herbert jerseys,
and you'll see Chargers fans of this generation wrapping their
arms around a team that really are interlopers right now
in the city they play for. That's how you build
a successful enterprise. That's how you build a successful business.
That financial commitment has been missing from the top down,
(13:09):
and it has for many, many years. During my time
with the Chargers, which was a two year stint between
and I got to watch Philip Rivers, who again I
feel as a first ballot Hall of Famer, and many
don't because the team's constantly let him down and it
starts with ownership, and it's a shame and I'd hate
to see it happened to Justin Herbert. So if I
(13:31):
were his agent, if I were his agent, I would
be on the phone with the tippy top of the
mountaintop saying, get me a head coach who can lead
this team to a better future, or I want out today. Absolutely,
you offered me a long term deal. Remember Rivers did
this as well late in his career. You know, the
idea of getting that extension at the end of his career.
(13:53):
This is early in the career, and he made his side.
You know what, I'm not interested. I'll play out my
rookie contract and look for employment l where if you
don't make the move. All right, we're just getting started here.
Bills turned the ball over on downs. Miami was Skyler
Thompson at quarterback three and out. He threw a couple
of really bad passes, folks. I don't know how Miami
is gonna score in this game, but we're gonna break
(14:13):
it all down. Three games today, I mean, he's bad.
Three games today, the big Monday night matchup between the
Bucks and the Cowboys tomorrow. Keep it right here. This
is Fox Sports Red Zone Radio. Steve Harvey, Red Sharburger.
This is Fox Sports Red Zone Radio. We are live
from the tire rack dot Com Studios, Buffalos on the
board of fifty two yard bomb from Josh Allen to
(14:35):
Stephen dig set up a six yard touchdown past the
Dawson Knox and just like that, the Bills have a
seven nothing lead over a Miami Dolphins team that is
badly outmanned today without their quarterback to a tongue of viola,
they go with the rookie Skyler Thompson, and it is
gonna be tough sledding today for a Buffalo team, by
(14:56):
the way, rich that obviously not only is a really
good football team at the added incentive obviously. Uh with
Demorrow Hamlin, who of course, Uh, there was a report
earlier that he was going to actually physically be at
the game. He is not at the game. He's watching
from home. But that whole reuniting with his teammates yesterday,
it really is an unbelievable story that this guy who
(15:21):
collapsed full cardiac arrest on the field is back with us.
I mean, he's talking, he's hanging out with the guys.
You know, we pray they'll have a recovery, but it's
been all good news since that frightful night. Yeah, you know,
I just want to say, for not one second do
(15:41):
I think we should all underestimate the miracle that we
were witnessed. I think there's a lot that happens these days,
and a lot that divides us, and um, a lot
that feels like we kind of get siloed in our
own worlds, even even just talking about things that are
relatively harmless. Sports. You know, sports kind of sits in
(16:02):
its own place, and then people who you know, mostly
look at the news feed, right, you know, that kind
of lives and exists in its own world, and celebrity
gossip has its own place and then all of a sudden,
all at once. Sometimes there are these crossover events, and
a lot of them are negative, a lot of them
are really putrid. This was not. This was one of
(16:23):
those things who at every single level from a human standpoint,
affected all of us. And the outcomes have been so
positive that I don't want I don't want to to
really like dismiss how much of a miracle this all was.
We watched a guy die twice on the field, they
resuscitated to mar Hamlin twice on the field where they're
(16:45):
hosting the Miami Dolphins right now, and by the way,
they've got the team in the low red Buffalo just
intercepted Skyler Thompson. This is this is gonna get ugly.
It's it's just it's it's gonna be that kind on
a day for the Dolphins. But yeah, listen, My point
is it just was such an impactful cultural moment and
(17:07):
the fact that it has such beautiful now results, it's
it's it's it's going to be one of those things
that we're gonna remember for many, many years. Generations will
talk about it. And here we are on a football
Sunday where it sort of feels like the Buffalo Bills
are a team of destiny. However, I will say this
last night, I was doing my wrap up show UM
(17:27):
for Sunday Night Football, and I'm on the air and
I was asked, what do I think the Sunday surprise
could be? And here it is. The Dolphins do have
a puncher's chance in this game. Okay, now, it's not
going well for the Dolphins to start this game many reasons,
but hang on. If you remember back to the first
(17:50):
time these two teams played, and the Dolphins were able
to hang in that game and then beat the Bills,
and the Bills kind of ran out of time. You
remember the Ken Dorsey freaked out the offensive coordinator in
the booth, right. That was led by their defense. Okay,
the second time these two teams faced, there were twenty
one second half points scored by the Bills. They scored
(18:10):
on three consecutive drives touchdowns each, and they were able
to get back into a game that was really feeling
like the momentum was heading in the Miami Dolphins favor
again led by their defense. Their defense fell a part
in the second half, but for six quarters, this Miami
defense has given Josh Allen a real hard time. Now again,
(18:30):
do I think that the momentum and the results that
we're just talking about tomorrow, Hamlin's health and uh and
and the perceived greatness of the Bills heading into this
postseason matches up well against the Dolphins at this point. No,
but this is a tricky out for the Bills. The
Dolphins are in an FC East rival, They had plenty
(18:50):
of film, they know how to attack this team. And
in both of those matchups earlier in the season, when
you saw what the Dolphins did to the Bills offensively,
it really had nothing to do with to He was
very average in both of those outings. So if Skyler
Thompson just doesn't give this game away hence throwing interceptions
like you just did, this could be a ball game.
(19:13):
I hope it's a ball game. My guess it's not
gonna be. I understand what you're saying. Again, they had
two games this year that one was a two point game.
When was the three point game? So I mean, yeah,
the Dolphins are very competitive with the Bills, and we
I want to get to yesterday's matchup talking about a
division rival playing for the third time. Um, Yesterday, the
(19:34):
Seahawks were head head at halftime and it was seventeen
sixty and you're thinking, wow, this this actually looks like
it's going to be a game. And then the second
half came and it wasn't a game. I want to
ask you specifically about brock Purty though, because on the
Show That Precedes Us, two of our buddies, Briano and
(19:54):
Jeff Schwartz took shots at brock Purty. Uh. Brian No
dismissed him as Lynn sanity. He says, you know, Lynn
Sandy had like this three week miracle run with the Knicks,
and then he came back to Earth and we never
really heard from him again. And then Jeff Schwartz said, hey,
he wasn't good. You know, when when receivers are wide open,
(20:15):
anybody can make those throws. Everybody was wide open that
he was throwing the ball too. So I wanted to
get your thoughts here because brock Purtty obviously has become
a rock star in the NFL. I mean, it's it's everywhere.
I mean it is a little bit like Lynd Sandy,
Like this guy comes from complete obscurity, as Mr Irelevant comparison.
(20:36):
But well that's but the point Brian no was saying,
is this is gonna follow the same path? In other words,
for three weeks he was like the yet guy, and
then he just disappeared. And he says, that's exactly what's
gonna happen to brock Purty. Do not be fooled here.
Brock Purty is not the future quarterback for the forty Niners.
And then Jeff Schwartz comes in and says the same thing. Look,
(20:57):
it's all about the offense when guys are why to open.
When you got a wide open Deebo Samuel or Christian
McCaffrey or George Gettle, and all you have to do
is throw it to a wide open receiver. Pretty much
anybody can fill that role. So Bills, by the way,
James Cook runs it in on an outside run play
thirteen nothing. The Bills right now on leading at home,
(21:18):
walking into the ends on all right, So anyway, against
So what are your thoughts? I mean, is brock Purty
the real deal has been a great story. Does he
have a chance to be the future quarterback of the
San Francisco forty Niners? Yes he does. And at the
same token, if brock Purdy was playing for the Vikings.
(21:39):
If Brock Purdy was playing for, say the Dolphins, if
Brock Purdy was playing for the Seahawks, would it look
as good. My answer is no. My answer is no.
I think that he's a better quarterback than people wanted
to give him credit for leaving Iowa State. UM. I
think he's handled this situation with an insane amount of
(22:01):
composure and almost a veteran levels ability to sort of
just focus in on the task and manage these games.
And he's also made some big time throws in some
moments where he's needed to. I'll go back to the
Raiders game, the only real close game he's been a
part of, where in overtime he was able to make
some splashy plays to get them a win. But he
(22:23):
has only been asked to do very little for this
forty Niners team. The goal every single game is to
make sure Brock has a nice, easy landing spot for
the football and to just use his football i Q
and his understanding of the Playboy Playbook, which, by the way,
it's not easy. It's not easy being a rookie and
(22:43):
wrapping her head around a complex offensive system, especially one
like Kyle Shanahan likes to run, but at the same
time he is the master of keeping it simple for
his quarterbacks. Look at Matt Ryan. Matt Ryan in any
other system probably doesn't look like an m VP candidate,
but Kyle Shanahan was able to do that with him.
I really have a great belief in him as not
(23:04):
only an offensive play caller and a QB whisperer, but
also great play sequencer. He understands what he's doing to
a defense and what he's shown a defense not just
this week but in weeks past, and how to exploit
UH defenses reliance on trying to diagnose tendencies to know
what's coming next. It's almost like playing chess. You want
(23:24):
your your opponent to think they know what you're doing
and then surprise them. And that happens constantly with a
Kyle Shanahan offense. So when I look at Brock Purdy,
I look at him as a guy who's very fortunate
to have landed in an offensive system that can curtail
itself to understand his limitations, highlight his strengths, and have
(23:46):
names like Kyle Juice Check and Deebo Samuel and George
Kittle and Christian McCaffrey I just named four guys who
are inarguably top three at all of the positions. They
lay all right, and then to have a left tackle
like Trent Williams the best doing it. This guy has
(24:06):
been handed the golden ticket. He hasn't fumbled it yet.
But let's be very honest about what we're watching. The
comparisons to Tom Brady's entrance into this league are very
apt because Tom Brady, at that point in his career
very much so, was a very cerebral guy who did
have some major athletic limitations, but they were able to
(24:27):
hide those limitations because he was surrounded by such brilliant
talent that all he had to do is not screw
it up. And that's exactly what Brock Purdy is doing.
And we need to give him credit for that, but
we we should not. We should not give him too much. Well,
the great luxury for the forty Niners is is that
if you don't have to sink a ton of money
(24:48):
into a quarterback, that gives you the freedom to pick
up a Christian McCaffrey and some of these other pieces.
Uh So, moving forward, for the forty Niners, think about this,
If they go with Brock Purdy. He's on a seventh
own contract for the next couple of years. Um. That
saves you a whole lot of money. By the way,

Let's find out what is trending right now here, guy,
mone uh this this this game is Hey, listen, did
(25:30):
you watch the Chargers last night? Buffalo? Don't ease up,
don't eats up? Yeah, goodness. What's trending is Brandon Staley.
But we'll get to that in just a second. Yes,
it's a slow day. It feels like for me with
one game, guys, what a lot of previewing and everyone else?
(25:50):
You mean I can actually watch one entire game. This
is crazy and it's all built so far. They're beating
Miami fourteen zero with a little less than five minutes
to go in the first quarter. A lot of game left.
But yes, the Miami Dolphins do have a rookie at quarterback.
It's Skyler Thompson. We do have Teddy Bridgewater. He is active,
(26:11):
which was a big deal because all week they kept
saying he's gonna be questionable. He has that dislocated pinky fingers.
So we'll see if Miami makes any changes. Speaking of Miami,
ESPN has a story out right now that to La
is expected to be the Dolphins starter in three, that
he could clear concussion protocol and if they happen to
beat the Bills, he could maybe come back in the postseason.
(26:31):
Story out right now on ESPN. We do have two
top twenty five college basketball games going on. St. John's
is actually beating number six yukon fifty five with fifteen
minutes to go in the game. You can catch this
game on FS one. And also number twenty five Marquette
and number twelve Xavier are tied at sixty three with
tendants to go in the second half, and you can
(26:52):
catch this game on Fox. And we have one NBA
game going on. The Nicks are taking on the Pistons
into Roy. They got thirty seconds left in the first quarter.
Nick's are up thirty four to twenty two. Back to
you guys, all right, so far in this game, Josh
Allen has a passer rating of a perfect one fifty
eight point three Skylard Thompson zero point zero. Um, that's
(27:16):
a bit of a mismatch right there. By the way, Montery,
you mentioned social media and Brandon Staley, Oh, yes, yes,
I forgot he is trending. Yes, yes, yes, trendy. Yeah.
People are not happy and in fact, actually so people
are not shocker, right, shocker, thank you for bringing this back. Yes,
so obviously the biggest one of the biggest comebacks in
(27:37):
NFL history last night by the Jaguars who were losing
zero at one point to the l A Chargers. They
ended up winning thirty one to thirty. And after the game,
this is what Brandon Staley had to say. Anytime you're
up twenty seven to seven a half time and you've
got four takeaways and you end upening the takeaway margin
four nothing, you know it's gonna be it's gonna be
a killer. I'm hurting for everybody in that locker room.
(27:58):
It's a special group of guys. You know. This is
the toughest way that you can lose, you know, in
the playoffs, and literally people are just tweeting Brandy. Brandon
Staley fired. Brandon Staley fired. The Chargers became the first
team ever to have a plus five in the turnover
margin and lose a playoff game. It's never I mean
(28:21):
the the the Chargers had no turnovers in this game.
They took the ball away five times and lost. That
has never happened in the history of the NFL in
a playoff game. Yeah. So the difference here again was coaching.
Doug Peterson badly out coached Brandon Staley to bring his
(28:45):
team back and win that game. Let's let's lay that
to rest here. Thanks so much, mind, And when we
could go all day on that, we really could. Literally
people are asking why he hasn't been fired yet. Yes,
I do want to ask you Rich about the Lamar
Jack's situation. So Lamar Jackson will not be playing for
the Ravens today as they have the tough task of
(29:05):
winning in Cincinnati without their MVP quarterback. Michael Vick called
out Lamar Jackson. The former NFL quarterback said this because
right now Lamar Jackson has a PCL sprain in his knee,
(29:27):
and Vic said, it's the playoffs. Your three games away.
Put a brace on it, get it going, put a
brace on it. Let's go. I played a whole season
with a torn mc l Now my attitude on this,
I'm not gonna question an injury. If a guy says
he's hurt, he's hurt. But you know where we're going
(29:48):
with this right now, right, I mean, they didn't give
him the deal. They couldn't come to any kind of agreement.
He's at the end of his rookie contract. They could
franchise tag him, or they may decide, you know what, Lamar,
if you really want to go elsewhere, bye bye. The
question is, in your opinion, is Lamar Jackson sitting out
(30:10):
this playoff game because A he's too hurt to play,
or B he's basically sending a message to the Ravens
you screwed up. It can be both, but I'm leaning
more towards a. You know, I mean, I don't think
those things necessarily have to be mutually exclusive, because it
(30:31):
takes some level of commitment from a team to make
you want to play for a team. We were just
talking about Justin Herbert's situation with Brandon Staley as his
head coach. Right. Uh, If I'm his agent today, I'm
on the phone with the organization saying, get me a
coach who can lead this team to a super Bowl
or trade my player, because that's the level of commitment
(30:51):
sometimes that you need from an organization if you are
an insane talent, and I put Lamar Jackson in the
insane talent category. Remember where the Baltimore Ravens were, mind you,
mind everybody when they first drafted Lamar Jackson. They were
paying Joe Flacco way too much money. Joe Flacco was
(31:13):
their quarterback and he was making the end of a
huge amount of money on a contract they signed him to.
And Lamar Jackson they snuck back into the first round
to draft him thirty second overall, and it was the
best thing they ever did for that franchise because, let's
face it, they John Harbaugh was on the hot seat.
(31:34):
He was gonna get fired if things didn't get improved
in a hurry. He was like the vitamin C to
the immune system. He made everything look better. The defense
looked better because the offense was more efficient. The running
game had a complete turnaround. He replaced Joe Flacco. Even
though Joe Flacco was one of those quarterbacks. It was like,
I'm not helping this kid out. I'm worried about being
the starting quarterback. Of the Baltimore Ravens. Everybody was upset
(31:56):
about that, and Lamar Jackson, in in spite of all
of this, became Baltimore's only hope in an m v
P very short term. I look at Lamar Jackson and
I say to myself, like, that's a guy who's really
put his body on the line for years for this organization,
and he really what he wanted to feel was respected
(32:17):
by the organization, have some level of commitment prior to
this season by this organization, and turned down many deals
on his way. Now let's get back to the injury
at hand. I mean, he's got a knee. What does
that mean, Well, it means that either he can't play
or he can't. Is this a knee injury where he
can strap it up and get going, like Michael Vick said,
(32:37):
like we've seen Philip Rivers doing a postseason game with
a torn a c L that was surgically repaired two
weeks prior to showing up on the field. I mean,
it could be right, but it also could be one
of those injuries that limits him so much that there's
no way he can be the Lamar Jackson that he
(32:59):
needs to be for the Baltimore Ravens to get to
the win, and he could subject himself to further damage
which would ruin their future if he is going to
be a part of their future. So this is a
catch twenty two. I understand what Mike Vick is saying,
and I understand how heroic that would look to the
fan base, but without a commitment from the team. And
by the way, a lot of these reports that are
(33:20):
coming out in a negative way about Lamar Jackson, you
have to think about why are we hearing negative reports
on Lamar Jackson. It's because the Baltimore Ravens are releasing
those reports. They're trying to bring his number down. So
if he is going to be a part of their future,
they could get him at a discount because the fans
are upset and disgusted by him. This is how dirty
(33:43):
the NFL gets at this level. So trust me when
I tell you Lamar Jackson, in my opinion, is doing
the right thing for Lamar Jackson. It may not be
the right thing for the city of Baltimore, may not
be the right thing for his teammates right now, but
maybe long term. All right. So I'm gonna give you
on the other side a Sonar a EO for the
future of Lamar Jackson. By the way, Josh Allen seven
(34:04):
of eight hundred, fourteen yards and touchdown notepis. That's a
perfect passer rating of one fifty eight point three. Skyler
Thompson one for seven eight yards, one interception. That's a
perfect passer rating of zero point zero fourteen. Nothing bills
right now, two and a half minutes to go in
the first quarter. So where could Lamar Jackson end up?
(34:25):
If not? Staying with the Ravens will tell you coming up.
Keep it right here. This is Fox Sports Red Zone Radio. Hi,

hope to describe it, give it words. Listen to Unbreakable

(35:08):
is Fox Red Zone Radio. And we've got the place
that you may have missed. It's the Cook coming around
the left side out run. Are you landed? Roberts to
the end zone. Now we're cooking with guests. James Cook
with a twelve yard touchdown run Buffalo up nothing with
five of us having left in this first quarter. Now
(35:33):
back live to the studios of Fox Sports Radio. This
is Fox Red Zone Radio. That's w g R five
fifty Bills Radio Network, Bills leading the Dolphins fourteen nothing
coming to the end of the first quarter and they're
on the move again. Hey, by the way, Sam, do
we have an update on the current passer rating of
(35:56):
Miami Dolphins quarterback Skyler Thompson? Zero zero? Still zero point zero? Alright,
just want to keep you updated on that. Josh Allen
doing it with his legs, doing with his arm. Let
me ask you a quick question here, Rich if you
had a choice between Josh Allen or Joe Burrow to
(36:18):
be the quarterback of your team for the next ten years,
who would you choose between Josh Allen and Joe Burrow?
Joe Burrow. And it's not particularly close. And here's the
reason why Joe Burrow is gonna last longer. Joe Burrow
is the type of quarterback who's going to miss a
very few games over the course of his career outside
(36:40):
of bad luck, right, I mean certain times, like anybody
else here had bad like his rookie year, oh, no
question about it. And he played behind an awful offensive line,
which they helped to rectify this offseason by signing three
different high price free agent offensive lineman who helped have
helped protect him much better this season, mind you. And
they'll continue to build that offensive line unit in front
(37:02):
of Joe Burrow, assuming they can, because he's about to
be up for a contractor restructuring, and it's going to
be i mean several magnitudes higher than what they're paying
him right now annually. But you understand what I'm saying.
If he has a talented offensive line group protecting him, uh,
he's gonna be just fine. Josh Allen takes on a
lot of damage. So if we're talking about ten years
(37:24):
out from today, Yeah, Joe Burrow had a horrific knee
injury his rookie year, but he came back in his
second year and led a team to a Super Bowl
and it didn't make him gun shy. At all. He
was sacking nine times against the Titans in the playoffs
and he still won that game. You know. So Joe
Burrow to me, is the type of quarterback you want
to sign long term and feel good about the investment
(37:45):
because his health most likely is going to stay intact.
Josh Allen, he may be the better quarterback right now.
I'm sure there's plenty of debate that we could have
over that, and I'm not really interested in that. To
answer your question, though, in terms of durability Joe Burrow,
I would feel much more secure in signing him long term,
all right, I I We had a trade proposal yesterday,
(38:07):
so Adam Kaplan came on. He talked about the Ravens
and Lamar Jackson. He said, look, they're gonna franchise tag him.
That doesn't mean he's gonna stay with the Ravens. So
we had a proposal for a trade, and I'm gonna
ask you about this deal. So let's say the Ravens
can't sign him, or he's not willing to sign a
long term deal with the Ravens, so they franchise tag him,
(38:28):
which by the way, it will be a hefty number,
and they would control him for that one year. But
then they make a trade. Here was the trade we propose,
and some said not enough. You trade Lamar Jackson to
the Raiders for Derek Carr, two number ones and Darren Waller. Wow,
(38:52):
so you're getting Lamar Jackson. Derek Carr's gone anyway plus
two number ones. Now remember the Rams how to give
up additional draft revenue to get Matthew Stafford, who is
a lot older than Lamar Jackson is. Right now, remember
how young Lamar Jackson is. So if you're the Raiders
right now, there's two questions. He would you make that trade?
(39:16):
And if you did make that trade and he's willing
to sign long term with the Raiders, does he fit
with Josh McDaniels to make the Raiders a championship team?
And can Josh McDaniels get the most out of the
talents of Lamar Jackson? All right, Well, just focusing on
(39:38):
the trade at first. To me, the the number starts
at three first rounders. You're getting Derek Carr. No, I
I get it, I get it. But let's be very
honest with each other. They're motivated to get rid of
Derek Carr, and they've actually put it out there that
that's why we're throwing Darren Waller into the mix. Now
I know, and look I mean and also remember the
(40:00):
trade to Detroit. There were other players involved to to
that caliber. But yeah, I would say, I don't mind
that trading concept, but I'd add another number one first
first rounder and then we could talk. All right, So
how does Josh McDaniels fit with Lamar Jackson? Boy, that
is a long answer. We may have to hit that
on the other side. Okay, you're gonna hit that on
the other side, and we'll get ready for the other
(40:22):
big games coming up today. This is Fox Sports a

Dolphins by a score of fourteen to nothing. And do
(41:10):
we have do we have any update yet on the
Skylar Thompson passer rating? Any update on that? Just an
update zero, holding steady at zero points zero. That is
Skyler Thompson, the Miami Dolphins quarterback and his passer rating.
Uh in this game. So the Bills look like they're
well on their way. Um, all right, So in the meantime, uh,
(41:33):
And we've got a lot of games we're gonna get
to today, including I think an incredibly interesting matchup between
the Giants and the Vikings, which is the next game
on our ledger here. But we're talking about Lamar Jackson
and his future of the Ravens. He will not play today.
Michael Vick called him out, said, dude, strap up, man,
get out there and start playing. But there could be
a lot here. Um, no doubt the Ravens will franchise
(41:56):
tag him if they can't get a deal done, But
that doesn't mean he will day for the Ravens. So
I proposed a trade two Number one's Derek Carr Darren
Waller goes from the Raiders to the Ravens to get
Lamar Jackson. You said, hey, throwing another number one? I said, great,
whatever the deal is. Suddenly you have a situation where
(42:17):
Lamar Jackson is now a Las Vegas Raider. The question
rich and you know Josh McDaniels does Josh McDaniels because
it's always about quarterback and end coach, right, the great
teams have had that in sync feeling between coach and quarterback.
Can you sync up what Josh McDaniels does with the
(42:41):
talents of Lamar Jackson? Yeah, of course absolutely. I mean, here,
here's the reality of being an offensive coordinator if you
are um a talented coach. And it was Wade Phillips I.
I actually interviewed him. I want to say this is
four years ago, maybe three years ago, and he said
(43:04):
the most impactful thing I've ever heard of coach say.
He was like, if you have a great system offensively,
defensively a great one, but you're great players can't play
great in that system, you have a bad system. Well,
isn't that the way it was with Derek Carr. I mean,
(43:25):
it's interesting when you look at the Raiders this year,
is the fact he had the leagu's leading Russia and
Josh Jacob's first team All NFL. Davonte Adams had a
huge year. He also made first Team All NFL. If
you had said those two guys combined rushing and receiving yards,
so we have three thousand yards and you go six
and eleven, what happened? Are we? Are we suggesting that
(43:48):
the Raiders were bad offensively this year? Well, what I'm
saying is is that Derek Carr was good this year,
but he didn't have the same numbers he had a
year ago. Well, I'm not saying, but let's put it
this way. Derek Carr had a great season objectively. He
played as a top ten quarterback at times. About man
(44:11):
settled in the top half of the the tier rankings
in terms of quarterback play. Like, that's about where Derek
Carr plays. I mean, don't get me wrong. He was
breaking in a new system and there were some lumps
in the road like you would expect. But overall, Derek
Carr had a pretty good year. Now, I know, the
Raiders from a pr standpoint tried to message it like, oh,
(44:33):
well Derek Carr is leading the league in interceptions. Yeah,
but how about that defense? The Raiders defense was one
of the main reasons why this team really struggled. They
were awful defensively. I mean that it was Swiss cheese
out there. I mean the offense overall looked pretty good.
If the offense, if the Raiders offense had the San
Francisco forty Niners defense, we'd be talking about the Raiders
(44:56):
potentially winning the Super Bowl. And that's that's read. Yeah,
But here, I mean, I just I just want to
bring up some numbers. Forget the interceptions. Complete supercentage went
from sixty percent to His passer rating was the lowest
since his rookie season. So the fact is is that
(45:18):
Derek Carr was not in sync. I mean, his numbers
were way down from a year ago. Despite the fact
that Davante Adams was able to put up the big
numbers and Josh Jacobs had this phenomenal season, something wasn't right.
I guess my question with Josh McDaniels is this, when
you were linked to the goat as he was with
Tom Brady through all that, how much of it was
(45:40):
Josh McDaniels, How much was Tom Brady? Was in an
equal partnership or they get in equal share of the
credit for the success they had because Lamar Jackson's skill
set is different than Tom Brady. So, in other words,
we've seen like Lincoln Riley at Oklahoma. I remember we
talked a lot about how he goes from a Baker
(46:01):
Mayfield to Kyler Murray to Jalen Hurds, all having a
little bit of a different skill set and then adjusting
the offense to get them to max out their abilities.
Is Josh McDaniels the same guy. I mean, he's he's
one of obviously a successful as system for years in
New England. But can he do I mean, he had
the Tebow situation right with Denver where he had to
(46:24):
figure out something, But can he do that with Lamar
Jackson and create a system? Is he flexible enough to
create a system that works with Lamar Jackson as your quarterback?
Tim Tebow again, another quarterback objectively who was terrible as
an NFL quarterback, great college football player, terrible as NFL quarterback.
(46:44):
He got a Denver team led by Tebow into the postseason. Look,
I understand it was a complete disaster after that, but
I mean, Josh McDaniels needs to get credit for building
an offensive system that end up objectively bad quarterback was
able to lead a team into the postseason with I mean,
(47:05):
you gotta give him that credit. I mean, and then
you look at Derek Carr and the points you just
made about how his completion percentage was low or excuse me,
the second lowest in his career. His passer raiding was like, well,
if you want to say, well, Derek Carr had a
better season last year than he did this year. Last season,
he had twenty three touchdowns to fourteen interceptions. This year
he had one more touchdown and he had the same
(47:26):
number of interceptions, and his passer rating only dropped by
six points. So if we're going to say that he's
he was so much better last year, it's a fallacy.
It's it's using stats to make to play hate us
and make us feel like Derek Carr fell off the map.
He didn't. He didn't. The reality of this situation is
(47:47):
there are other things that happened with the Raiders this season,
and a lot of them may have to do with
Josh McDaniel, says a head coach, that have really failed
the Raiders. We'll find out he's going to get a
second chance next year. We'll find out how good of
a head coach he is, because now he's gonna be
the common denominator, not Derek Carr, so he's running out
(48:07):
of excuses. So my, but again going back to just
talking about offensively, I think Josh McDaniels is a brilliant
offensive coordinator and I think he actually got a lot
out of Derek Carr, who was learning a brand new
system this year after going through the ridiculous season that
the Raiders went through last year with Grooden and losing
(48:29):
Um their leading receiver in a drunk driving incident, and
you know, the all of it. I mean, it was
an absolute disaster last season. I think that Derek Carr
actually had a really good season. Um, when you look
at the whole picture that has been painted so objectively,
Lamar Jackson is a much better quarterback than Tim Tebow. Objectively,
(48:51):
Josh McDaniels got more out of a bad corridor back
in Tim Tebow, who has a similar, not the same
similar skill set asim as Tim Tebow. Um. I I
look at that if the Raiders go after Lamar Jackson
in a trade and are willing to spend a ton
of first round picks, to get him. I look at
it is going to be a better offensive system to
(49:12):
have currently in place with Derek Carr, and he's gonna
be able to curtail things to Lamar's unique talents. By
the way, Skyler Thompson is catching fire right now. He's
now three of ten forty seven yards in a pick.
His passer rating is up to seven point one, seven
point one. He actually, before that last completion had raised
(49:33):
it to zero point five zero. He's not gonna be
at zero point zero. So Skyler Thompson trying to get
something going. Bills lead this game by a score of
seventeen to nothing. All right, coming up, I'm gonna get
an early break because I want to get to this matchup,
which is our next game. The Minnesota Vikings have had
(49:54):
a very unique season. In fact, they had the kind
of season that we have never ever seen in the
history of the National Football League. At home, coming up
against the Giants team with a vastly inferior record. So
why does so many people think that Giants are actually
going to win this game? We'll explain coming up here
(50:17):
on Fox Sports Red Zone Radio, Man and Rich Harmburger.
This is Fox Sports Red Zone Radio. We are live
from the ti iraq dot Com studios. Dolphins on the board.
Richest prediction of a hold it right there. Dolphins could
surprise Bills lead this game by a score of seventeen
and three. Ounce up to that Dolphins defense who shut
(50:39):
down this Bill's offense. Uh and yes, Skylert Thompson his
race his passer rating to seven seven, so he's uh,
he's rolling along all right. What do we got going
on here? What's happening here? Ryan? Do we we have
a full brawl going on in this game right now?
After the interception there, there was I think a Dolphins
(51:01):
lineman was up in the face of Josh Allen kind
of shoving him around a bit. Then one of the
offensive lineman of the Bills came over and we have
some extracurriculars and the two linemen took each other to
the ground. We've got flags thrown, uh, shoving and pushing
and uh yeah, a lot of a lot of action
here alright. So what happened here? Was there an actual interception?
There was? Yes, So the Dolphins have intercepted Josh Allen.
(51:24):
This could turn this whole game around right now. Oh? Absolutely,
just like that. I mean look, we saw a game yesterday.
It was twenty seven nothing. The game's over pretty sure.
That was Christian Wilkins, by the way, who was one
of the pre eminent trash talkers in the NFL, And
it looked like to me he baited Josh Allen into
this altercation on the field, who was initially pushing and
(51:47):
shoving and belly bumping with Wilkins, who was looking to
block Allan on the interception return, and Alan just got
feisty with him. So if they throw this flag, which
they did, and they're looking for a guilty party, who's
are did it number seventeen of the Buffalo Bills, Well,
they may have just cost his team a score. Well,
they just called offsetting penalties for personal They offsetting penalties.
(52:11):
The bottom line is, though Miami has the ball trailing
by his score of seventeen to three, offsetting penalties, by
the way, is like when you have little kids and
they both go to their room, you know what I mean,
Like nobody learns anything, you know what I mean? Because
if it's well he started, well he did that, you know,
nobody learns anything. I've always thought this was so silly.
(52:32):
It's like, oh, we're gonna give you guys both penalties,
so nobody actually feels hurt by this. Um. Josh Allen though, listen,
if we're going to be critical of anything on this play,
he had single coverage to the to the top of
the screen and he under threw the route. And it's
rare that you can say that about Josh Allen, usually
(52:53):
as the arm strength to get it there, but he
under threw that football. So Dolphins take over on the
bill side of the yield at about the forty eight
yard line. Yeah, Xavian Howard, by the way, one of
the best in the biz. That was. Um, that was
a pretty good interception. All right. So there we go.
The Dolphins have the ball and they're in Buffalo territory. Actually,
they just lost three yards on their first play, so
(53:16):
they're back in midfield. All right. I want to get
a little bit into this matchup coming up next as
the Vikings will host the New York Giants, and by
the way, the Vikings at home. This is a thirteen
and four team going against a team that was nine
seven and one, and the Vikings are only two and
a half point favorites and money is pouring in on
the Giants so you're saying, what are we missing here?
(53:38):
Vikings are eight one at home, thirteen and four overall.
The Vikings this year did something that not only has
never happened before, but I'm gonna venture I guess it
will never happen again. The Vikings won thirteen games this
year and they had a negative point differential this season.
(53:58):
They were a negative three re Now, how is that
even possible? You say, how can you be thirteen and
four and end the season having given up more points
than you scored? Well, this is how it happens. Eleven
of those thirteen wins were one score wins. They were
an amazing eleven and oh in one score games, and
(54:19):
the four games that they lost rich they were outscored
one thirty nine to fifty. So that's how you go
from a thirteen and four record or achieve of thirteen
and four record even though you actually gave up more
points than you scored over the course of the season. Now,
their new coach, Kevin O'Connell has to be given credit
(54:40):
because again, if you're a coach and your record is
eleven and oh in one score games, you're doing something right.
So this is the Vikings team that No one's talking
about you. Look at the NFC side, they're talking Eagles,
they're talking forty Niners, they're talking Tom Brady talking Cowboys. No, bloody,
(55:00):
nobody is taking the Vikings as a serious threat to
end up in the Super Bowl. But we've been seeing
this all season long, Rich, Wait a second, really quick.
The Dolphins are about to go for it on a
fourth and eight and they got bills forty six yard line,
and you're absolutely right. Skyler Thompson drops back broken tackle
on the swing pass to the running back out of
(55:21):
bounds after getting the first down, So huge, huge play.
After the momentum turn, Josh Allen throws the pick to
Xavian Howard on a fourth and eight, the Dolphins are
able to convert. Yeah, great move right there to avoid
the tackle that would have stopped that play early. So
Dolphins are moving on. So I ask you again, and
(55:43):
we've been talking about the Vikings all season long, in
the miracle season that they have had. Start with today,
all the money's coming out on the Giants. I mean,
who knows, by the time we kicked this thing up,
it could be a pick um um what you're feeling
on this game? Come it up. All right, this is
gonna sound crazy as my take about how I give
(56:04):
the Dolphins a puncher's chance. I think the Vikings rolled
the Giants today. I I really do. I feel strongly
about the Vikings. You know, if we want to, if
you know, if everybody wants to get behind the Bills
and say, hey, this is a team of destiny, considering
what happened to Damar Hamlin and the bounce back and
obviously their regular season finale to the Patriots, and it
(56:25):
just sort of felt like fate had it that way.
They need to win that game under all circumstances that
hem Hinz to kickoff re terms that were necessities for
touchdowns in order to beat the Pats. I look at
the Vikings. I look at the Vikings as one of
those teams of destiny. I mean, yeah, you're right, negative
point deferential, But you look at those losses. I mean
(56:45):
they got taken out behind the barn by the Eagles
and the and the Cowboys losing those games seven and
what was the cow Yes, you look at that and
you say, okay, everybody, everybody's allowed to have bad outings,
and this Vikings defense isn't great, But what about the
New York Football Giants gets everybody real jazzed up this year.
(57:10):
I mean, I'm sorry. Kirk Cousins is having arguably one
of the best best quarterback seasons he's ever had. He's
never looked more accurate, He's never looked more composed. I
look at the Vikings as being one of those teams
with the sort of intestinal fortitude that regardless of how
the scoreboard looks, they're gonna play and fight their asses
(57:31):
off to the bitter end. So I get it. I
understand everybody needs to pick a side if they're better,
and it's NFL playoffs and everybody feels like they need
a little action on every single game. But I'll tell
you right now, sharps get picks wrong too. So if
sharp money is what led this charge in the public
are all over the Giants, I'll tell you right now,
(57:52):
it doesn't mean that the Giants are gonna win this
football game. We've seen this a million times over. There
was a bet place last night, as a matter of effect,
for one point four million dollars on the Chargers at
halftime that they would win this football game. The bet would,
oh what do you got? We just got a big
hit by the Bills. Oh my goodness, Oh, my Goodnessgow,
(58:18):
that is like, where am I? Well? How how is
that not flagged? By the way? Is it is? That
not a defenseless receiver was looking back over his left shoulder. Well,
he didn't hit a helmet to helmet. He hit him
right in the chest. Yeah, but that doesn't matter if
you hit aless receiver. He hit him with the crown
of his helmet in his face mask. That should be
(58:39):
a fifteen yard foul. No, no, what are you looking at?
It was? It was right in the shoulder area. Come on, now,
he hit him with by the way, I thought he
led with the crown of his helmet. It doesn't matter
where you hit the player if you lead with the
crown of your helmet, like I actually thought the previous
play where Skyler Thompson run towards the sidelines was shoved
(59:03):
when I thought he was already out of bounds. Now, listen,
we're playing some throwback football in these playoffs. You saw
it a couple of times last night, and you you
heard what's been going on around the NFL. What I mean,
the officiating is under fire after that debacle that was
that Seattle win against the Rams, and you know what's
happening here, rich when you get into bed with these
(59:26):
gambling establishments for billions of dollars, which the NFL is
finally done, and suddenly there's questions about the integrity of
the officiating that can you know, obviously sway a point
spread one way or the other, and there's billions of
gambling dollars on the line. Guess what you gotta answer
to those people? They to be honest with. They need you.
(59:50):
They you need them as bad as they need you.
Let's put it that way. It's an equal partnership because
you're making a ton of money off of them. And
if all of a sudden their clientele is saying, what's
going on here? What's happening in these games? Because you
don't really see the NFL calling out officiating very often.
You see, you know, coaches do it or players do it,
(01:00:11):
and then the NFL is like, don't do that, We're
gonna find you. Now it's the league suddenly saying, yeah,
we need to do something really serious and evaluating our
selection of officials and how we trained officials and everything else.
That's all because of their getting in bed with the
gambling establishment. By the way, the Dolphins settled for a
(01:00:32):
field goal, so Buffalo leads seventeen to six to fifteen
to go in the first half. Yeah, Look, officiating in
the playoffs, and I've always agreed with this is a
bit looser. They're gonna allow more contact. They don't want
big calls to obviously interfere with outcomes of the games.
That's the reason why you saw Christian Wilkins and Josh
Allen both get penalized for the unsportsmanlike conduct. We're going
(01:00:57):
to have offsetting fouls because the NFL there's an edict
every post he's regardless of whether they're doing work with
these sports books or not, which is do not get
in the way of the outcomes officials. They don't want
referees getting in the way of football. And so you
have to understand that. I remember Belichick was the master
(01:01:19):
of this. He was a master of this. If we
were playing in the divisional round and we had to
wait and or if we were in the wild card round,
like he would put on film of what they're allowing
players to get away with. Uh an officiating crews. The
officiating crew that we were gonna have for the game.
He would show you like, they're gonna let you hold.
If you're a defensive back, they're gonna let you hold.
(01:01:41):
If you're an offensive lineman, they're not gonna call p I.
This wasn't even called a p I. You can hit
these guys late, you can. You know, he just showed
you the way business was being done. And so as
a result, you played right up to the edge of
the line and you tried not obviously to get called
for any fouls. But if they were going to allow
(01:02:01):
you for a little extracurricular to get under the skin
of your opponent, well then we're going to take it
right up to that line. And so the best coaches
figure out what crew they're going to have and how
they're calling these games. By the way, we're brought to

is trending right now and Monsey is back. I'm going
to give you an opportunity to make a big play
right now. Are you going to join Rich in predicting
that the Miami Dolphins are gonna come back and win
this game against the Buffalo Bills. I am not, I am,
(01:02:45):
I am not. Now again, if they do, Rich is
gonna stand alone, because no one on the planet other
than Riches even put Miami in the conversation. No, definitely
pulling upset. I'm not against it. Listen, as long as
he's not putting one point four million dollars, I mean
(01:03:05):
half time, it's only eleven points. I don't, I don't.
I don't understand why. Like the Bills, the Bills came
out the gates and they beat the reigning Super Bowl
chants champs and made them look like chumps. Remember that
game one of the NFL. But we've seen the Bills lose,
We've seen the Bills the Dolphins. We've seen this Dolphins
(01:03:27):
team keep it close with the Bills the two times
they faced each other. And oh, by the way, like
you said, it's eleven point game, right, I'm just saying
I'm not crazy. No, you're not. And again, as long
as you're not putting one point four million dollars down
as a bet where you only win eleven thousand dollars
and then you end up losing. Now that that's the
stupidest thing I've ever heard. Why anyone would place that
bet yesterday for the Chargers when they were up seven
(01:03:48):
zero one point four million to only win eleven thousand
and then you lost one point four million is stupid.
What you're saying. It's not that bad you it's a
hot take, But I'm not jumping on your bandwagon just yet.
It is only eleven points. You're right, he once offered.
I'm not an hour from now. I'm not you're not
(01:04:09):
going to offer it to Okay, I'm not gonna I'm
not gonna take it down eleven. Yeah, I guess suddenly
Skyler Thompson is like on fire, right suddenly suddenly, I
mean because his rating is no longer what ioas m Yeah,
it's been wanting to play this all day, all day. Well,
(01:04:29):
it's it's a complicated process for him to set this up.
Let's give him one more chance. Let's give him one
more chance. So yeah, yeah, he's up the point five,
so he's on fire. He is on fire. You're right,
And Josh Allen did throw an interception, which we know
he's done a couple of games this season, so we'll
see how this goes. But I do think the Bills
(01:04:50):
will come out on top of this game in the end.
But plenty of game left now. Earlier today, you guys
saw Josh Allen's fifty two yard past to stuff on digs.
It happened early in the the first quarter. That completed
pass have the probability of completion of fifteen points six.
It is the most improbable completed pass of Allen's career,
(01:05:11):
that fifteen point six, and Diggs caught that. I couldn't believe.
I could not believe that. Now. Another NFL news ESPN,
is reporting that the Panthers have put their name in
the Sean Payton sweep Steaks. They received permission today to
interview the former head coach. So if we're keeping track,
it's Carolina, Arizona, Denver, and Houston. Yeah, and the Chargers
(01:05:32):
are good, are good? I know they're fine. They're doing
just really good. Yeah. Yeah, they don't want to put
their I can promise you that if that job becomes open,
I don't care about any other job to be in
l A and justin Herbert. Sean Payton's coming to sell itself,
but you got to pay the price for sure, for sure,
and I don't know if they're going to do that.
(01:05:53):
Then nixts are beating the Pistons with fore minutes to
go in the third quarter, eight to seventy. Back to
you guys, all right, mony, thank you very much. All right,
so inside two minutes to go, uh and Bills after
that hot start, have struggled. And as you said, Rich,
don't take this Dolphins defense for granted. Remember the two
games they had matched up earlier this year. One was
(01:06:14):
a three point game, one was a two point game.
They split those matchups. And and that's the thing about
playing a division rival in a playoff game. I mean,
there's very little the other team's gonna throw at you
that you're not prepared for. So then it just comes
down to execution. It just I who is going to
(01:06:37):
execute better? Um, So it's it's a tough one. We're
gonna have another one litter later on with the Ravens
uh and the Bengals, all right, So you're picking a
Vikings blowout against the Giants team. Brian Dable, by the way,
certainly on a short list of Coach of the Year
candidates for turning around this Wolfle Giants organization and getting
(01:07:00):
him on track. By the way they sat everybody their
last game. So Daniel Jones didn't play, Sae Kwon Barkley
did not play. So I I guess that's why some
people are favoring them. But I I agree with you
a little bit on this Viking Ones, I don't know
about a blowout, but I'll put I'll put the I'll
put money on this if it's a one score game.
(01:07:23):
I'm gonna put my money on the Vikings says a
lot to me. Uh and and and and getting back
to Kevin O'Connor was a new coach because it was
obvious that the Zimmer whatever it was, had faded and
they weren't responding to him anymore. Um, what is it
about Kevin O'Connor. What does it say about a coach
(01:07:43):
when you have this insane eleven oh record in one
score games? Is that a player's thing? Is it a
coach thing? What do you What does it say? What
does it say about a team that's able to win
eleven straight one score games? What it says is you
have a special team. It's not just about one person.
It's not just about Kirk Cousins or Stefan or not Stefan.
(01:08:06):
There's justin Jefferson. It's not just about uh, it's not
just about Kevin O'Connell or his staff. It's about the culture.
It's about the culture because it takes so much will
to win any single NFL football game. It takes so
much will. It's it's a battle that you prepare for
(01:08:27):
all week long and you only get to express yourself
for three hours or you know, if it goes to overtime,
a little bit more than that, and then it's over.
And then you got to get back to the drawing
board and do this all the way all over again
in game plan for a brand new opponent. And you
do that seventeen times in a regular season. If again,
if you're fortunate, you get to extend your season like
(01:08:47):
the Vikings have. It just speaks to the culture they
have and teams special teams. When they're interviewed about a
great run, UH Super Bowl championship and you talk to
many different voye is what they'll say is they were
fighting for something more than just the winds. They were
fighting for each other. And Kirk Cousins say what you
(01:09:09):
will about him, but he is the perfect leader for
this team. I go back to that plane ride home
where he's wearing the goofy sunglasses and he's got the
chains around his neck and somebody gave him their watch
or a couple watches. It looked like his arms were
weighed down by the thirty five pounds of gold and
diamonds on his wrists and he's dancing with his shirt off.
(01:09:30):
I'm like that that connects a locker room. To have
a starting quarterback, the guy who is the face of
your franchise, able to connect with his teammates that way.
And remember, Kirk Cousins an old man in this game.
So he's connecting with youngsters in the locker room, guys
who you know, were in middle school when he was
(01:09:51):
starting for the first time in the NFL. And he's
found a way to capture this locker room the same
way Kevin O'Connell has, the same way just and Jefferson
has and the other leaders of this team have been
able to keep this thing afloat. It's about the culture
they've created in Minnesota. I'm watching this Bills game. The
Bills have got about to punt after a play was
(01:10:14):
overturned on a pass play. Getting back to the officiating right,
So they showed a replay. The ball clearly hit the
ground and the official is looking right at it. In
other words, he has a clear view. You can see him.
He's he's got a clear view to see that the
catch was not a catch, that the ball had hit
(01:10:35):
the ground, and yet he rolled it a catch and
we had to go to replay to reverse it. I
mean there was I mean, yesterday, there was some bizarre plays.
Even in that Look at the Dolphins on this huge
punt return out to the twenty five yard line. Is
that Waddle Jalen Waddle with a huge return? I don't
(01:10:58):
think it is j Widdle. We'll get a name on
the return earner. But that was outrageous, all right. So
the Dolphins now have got themselves in a position. Was
Cedric Wilson with a fifty yard punt return for the Dolphins.
So with one thirty two to go in the half,
they will have the ball at the twenty five yard
line of Buffalo once again in scoring positions. So Cedric
(01:11:20):
Wilson Jr. The fifty yard punt return, and wow, I mean,
if the Dolphins get a touchdown. I gave Monsey a chance.
She should have jumped on board. Moncey a chance. I
tweeted it out. I said, first quarter. All right, we're
talking about the Bills leading by fourteen. I said the
(01:11:41):
take that nobody's gonna like today. The Dolphins have a
puncher's chance in this game, and nobody likes it. No,
I mean, it's a radioactive tweet. But I'm telling you
there's there's something about this matchup. These games have been
close all along. All right, here, here's the thing. Miami
has eighty yards of offense in this game. Yeah, I know,
they have no offense. Skylar Thompson is now six of seventeen.
(01:12:04):
He just threw a past his incomplete So uh, this
this would be the miracle miracles. But by the way,
speaking of these Dolphins very quickly, here and all the
controversy of the season about two a tongue by low
and all these concussions, and even the idea of the
report is yeah, if Miami wins this game, he could
play next week. Um how how much responsibility is at
(01:12:29):
the feet of Mike McDaniel, their rookie coach, in terms
of putting his quarterback at risk I mean, was it
his decision? Was it a uh team decision? How much
responsibility are you putting at the feet of of this
rookie coach, Mike McDaniel of I don't know, putting his
quarterback at risk by putting him back out on the field.
(01:12:52):
Every single US president has been blamed for unemployment rates
during his time in office. Is it one hundred present
the president's fault? No, not necessarily. Every single CEO of
a fortune five hundred, fortune one hundred, fortune fifty company
who's had a scandal in their midst of their reign
(01:13:13):
at the top of these companies, are they responsible for
the scandal? No? No, maybe not necessarily directly, but they're
the face of the country, They're the face of the company,
They're the face of the team. If you're a head coach,
so everything that happens is a reflection of you as
(01:13:33):
a head coach. So if to Ah ends up having
to have a short career because of concussions, Mike McDaniel
has capability here. It's just it comes with the job,
because every single decision made comes back to you eventually
in some way, shape or form. Mike McDaniel has veto
(01:13:56):
power now how powerful is his veto power? It depends
on his ranking in the organization. Does ownership side with
the general manager? Is it on a decision by decision basis?
Does ownership over rule his veto power? There's a million
different things that can be discussed in terms of the
internal structure of an organization. Dolphins are going for it
(01:14:17):
here on four, so we got a minute nineteen to
go on they have They're not gonna go for the
field goal here at least, well now there's a time
out time out here. But but back to back to
the point I was making about Mike McDaniel. We'll get
back to the fourth and two conversion try here in
a moment, uh minute nineteen left in the in the
first half. Mike McDaniels the face of that organization. So again,
(01:14:39):
every single decision goes back to Mike McDaniel. So yeah,
I mean, like it or not, whether it is his
fault or not, whether it's the NFL's fault for needing
better rules to protect players, Mike McDaniel will essentially be
blamed in some part for all of it all, right,
seven of nineteen. That is what Skylar Thompson is in
this game. Team and the idea of having him go
(01:15:05):
for it on a fourth and two seeing far fetch
and apparently it is. Miami has brought their field goal
team out on the field. By the way, kicked this
field goal. It's a one score game, That's what I'm saying. Man,
you kicked this field goal. Is a one score game.
By the way, Jalen Waddle, you mentioned, where has he
been in this game? He's been targeted three times, zero catches,
(01:15:26):
zero yards. Tyreek Hill has been targeted eight times and
he only has four catches for forty two yards. So
when you got superstars at your wide receiver position and
you have a quarterback not capable of getting the ball
in their hands, that's a problem. The field goal is good, though,
So one fifteen to go in the first half, Buffalo
leads Miami by a score of seventeen to nine. Alright,
(01:15:48):
rolling on, we mentioned we got a lot to talk
about still, including Joe Burrow. Is he the best quarterback
in the NFL? If you were to a which quarterback
to I put my money on to lead my team
right now in the NFL? How many people raise their
(01:16:10):
hand and say Joe Burrow? We'll tell you why you
might want to pick him. We continue on. This is
Fox Sports Red Zone Radio. Steve Harber, Rich Harburger, Fox
Sports Red Zone Radio. We're back here in the tire
rack dot Com studios and we have a tie game.
(01:16:30):
Ladies and gentlemen. It is unbelievable. Another interception by the
Miami Dolphins defense, a touchdown followed by a two point conversion,
and with thirty three seconds to go in the first half,
we have a tie game. I gave Monsey the golden
opportunity just twenty one minutes ago, lesson twenty minutes ago,
(01:16:53):
to jump on your bandwagon and take the Miami Dolphins
to pull the upset of the year. She said, no,
I don't see it. She is regretting this decision. Rich Ornberger,
you stand alone right now in making this bull prediction
that somehow, some way, the Dolphins had a puncher's shot.
They were down fourteen nothing almost instantaneously in this game.
(01:17:17):
We have a tie game right now with thirty three
seconds ago in the first half. Yep, I love the
play design here on the two point conversion, by the
way to get Tyreek Hill the football and the two
points required to get the tie. It was a short
motion where he kind of ran in and just settled
down in in the zone and was fired a beautifully
(01:17:38):
accurate passed by Skyler Thompson, who's looked dreadful so far
this game. Bill is doing a nice job defensively against Thompson,
but he's coming on. He's building a little core confidence
and this defense for the Dolphins have really helped limit
the damage in the second quarter. First quarter, Josh Allen
have a hundred forty nine yards, just shove a hundred
(01:17:59):
fifty yards passing. Second quarter, less than thirty yards through
the air so far. Uh, it's been a up and
down game for the Bills. Up for the first quarter,
down for the second quarter. Dolphins now kick off with
thirty seconds left and a half. I'm very curious to
see what the Bills try to get done here because
it has been such a poor second quarter for Alan
(01:18:21):
and this offense. All right, how about this, So we
are talking about passer ratings. Earlier in the game, Josh
Allen had a perfect one fifty eight point three hight
so you can have and Skyler Thompson was at zero
point zero. Right now, Josh Allen is at seventy point four.
Skylar Thompson is at fifty eight. This is all in
one half, so we have seen some craziness already in
(01:18:44):
this wild card weekend. Uh and this game is obviously
anybody's game right now. So seventeen all as the Bills
and the Dolphins are tied at seventeen. By the way,
the Bills just made a big play to get into
Miami Tea to r at the forty three yard line.
Josh Allen has got to be a little bit in
the state of shock. Um, everything was going so well,
(01:19:07):
all right, very quickly here, I want to talk more
about Joe Burrow. I asked you before about if you
could choose between Josh Allen and Joe Burrow, who would
you choose to be your quarterback over the next ten years.
You said, Joe Burrow is not even close. Um, I thought,
I don't. Did you see this the other day where
Joe Burrow showed up at the game with the high
turtleneck and the sunglasses. You see that look, and and
(01:19:30):
and they were like you've got to And by the way,
he wasn't just wearing it like he was wearing it,
you know what I mean, Like he was swag. I mean,
it's all about the swag and Joe Burrow. You know
this team over the recent history losers of Super Bowls
(01:19:51):
save the Patriots, have really struggled the following year, and
they got off to that oh and two. Starting to
like here we go again. Well, they've only lost twice
since then. I'm not so sure that we're not gonna
see Joe Burrow dominate this decade. Remember, he is yet
to lose to Patrick Mahomes. I'm not gonna say owns him,
but so far he does three and oh um, I'm
(01:20:14):
gonna venture a guest, I'm gonna make a Bowl prediction.
By the way, we now have eighteen seconds to go.
Bills are at the thirty eight yard line. On the
other side, I want to get a little more into
this where I think that Joe Burrow could be heading
to another Super Bowl. This is Fox Sports Radio. Fox

the touchdown and two point diversion, Buffalo went down the field,
Josh Allen threw a pass to Stefan Diggs, made a
great one hand and grab uh. Sean McDermott was going
(01:21:18):
crazy that he had gotten both feed in. Technically he
did get both feed in, but he didn't have actual
control of the football. Yeah, he grabbed it with one hand,
but by the time he pulled it into his body
to secure the catch, he only got one foot in.
I mc McDermott was going crazy there, rich And I
mean technically he had two feet in if you count
(01:21:40):
when the ball hit his one hand, but that's not
securing the ball. You have to bring the ball into
your body and by the time he did that, only
one foot was in. So they did get the field
goal for the twenty to seventeen halftime lead. So what's
going on in these locker rooms at halftime here? Rich
on both sides. Way you think it's gonna happen here
is to get ready for the second half. Alright, Rich,
(01:22:04):
there is no Rich right now. Yes, that's always good Sean.
Sean mcgermott is obviously going to be focusing on the
first quarter and and really, I mean that's what you
need to do. You need to focus on what the
Bills have done well, because this is a team that
needs to understand like, hey, guys, like we're the same
(01:22:27):
team that we're just dominating this this defense in the
first quarter. We need to get back to that. You know,
you need to improve your protection. Josh needs to start
taking what the defense is giving to him. Now, he's
been under pressure relatively early, and maybe there's there's an
adjustment that needs to be made with shorter passing routes.
Stop trying to test the depth of the defense. Um,
(01:22:51):
but but they're playing coverage on him. They're trying to
limit the explosive play, and he keeps trying to go
for the home run ball. They don't need that out
of him. They didn't need it out of them and
I think they got a little panicked there. So both
offensive coordinator and Josh Allen ken Dorsey offensive coordinat you
need to get back to what was working to start
this game, which is, you know, major in the run game,
(01:23:13):
run a little play action off of that short passing routes,
march the field on the Miami Dolphins. And then the Dolphins,
you know they're gonna focus on the second quarter. They're
gonna say, hey, look we took some shots. We know that,
we know what this team is. We've played them twice
this season. We've kept it close with them both games,
we've won one of them. We just have to show
up for the second half and play consistent football. We
(01:23:35):
cannot wait until the fourth quarter to the show these
guys who we are. We have to start the second
half the same way we finished the first half. And
again it's it's when you're you're coming down the wire
this season. You know, four more games or I should
say three and a half games to win a Super Bowl,
the haze in the barn. These teams know who they are.
(01:23:56):
They just have to keep the momentum going. So for
the Bills, they need to get it back for the Dolphins.
They need to keep it going from the second quarter.
You know, early in his career, and again it's a
very young career for Josh Allen, but you remember like
his first playoff game he looked really shaky, like he
was literally hyperventilating. And then the next year, Um, it
was a little bit of a mixed bag. But we
(01:24:18):
we seem to race that last year. I mean his
playoff games last year he was twenty one TWENTI against
New England, three or eight yards, five touchdowns, no picks,
and then in that shootout game with Mahomes that they
lost twenty seven and thirty seven, four touchdowns and no picks. Okay,
so I mean it doesn't get much better than that.
But there are times with Josh Allen where he seems
(01:24:40):
to get a little anxious, um and forcing things a
little bit. This is not the case with Joe Burrow. Um,
I don't know. I I keep watching Joe Burrow play
and he talks about it openly, like, if you're going
to be successful in this league, especially in the big games,
(01:25:05):
there can be no fear. There can't be any fear.
I mean, you're going to make mistakes. That doesn't mean
that everyone. Tom Brady makes mistakes. Okay, he hasn't been perfect,
but there's no fear. And at times with Josh Allen,
I'm not saying there's fear, but there seems to be
a little anxiety, a little anxiousness at times. And we
(01:25:26):
saw a little bit of that here in the second quarter.
Maybe the second half is going to be a different story.
And as I mentioned last year, he could not have
played better in the postseason. I never see seemed to
see that with Joe Burrow. And that's why when we
look at these quarterbacks and I call him the Big
three right now, because they're gonna be rivals in this
a f C for a long time. Between Josh Allen,
(01:25:47):
Patrick Mahomes and Joe Burrow, I'm not so sure that
to me, when it's all said and done, the guy
that's gonna stand above the rest is Joe Burrow. Yeah, yeah,
I look, I'm I'm a huge Joe Burrow fan because
of the way he thinks about the game of football.
I remember one time, I remember one time, um he
(01:26:10):
was asked doing a podcast, Hey, you know, you take
a lot of sacks and a lot of people are
coming after your offensive line and you know this, obviously,
you need to be protected better and and all that,
and he goes, but you know, some people are critical
and saying that you need to get out of the
way of trouble sometimes, and you're just not doing that.
(01:26:31):
And he had the most clever and I thought, a
very cerebral answer to this, to this question being asked, like,
you know, what, what do you feel about that criticism?
He goes, Look, taking a sack on third down is fine,
he goes, Of course, it depends on where you are
in the football field, he goes, But third down, if
you're gonna punt on fourth down anyways, which most times
(01:26:53):
you are in a third and longer situation, Uh, why
not take the sack? He was like, Okay, so I
get sacked and I give up six yards, he goes,
My punter is gonna boot it down the field if
we're in plus fifty territory, if we're at the forty
eight yard line going in, or if we're just or
if we're nearing midfield. He goes, So, I'd rather take
as much time as I possibly can in the pocket
(01:27:14):
before throwing the ball to a late developing route that
could potentially get us the conversion rather than give up
on the play and throw the ball away just so
what we can have five yards closer to the end zone.
He's like, our punter is gonna make up for that
with his leg. And I remember hearing that I and
I said to myself, that's the first time I've ever
(01:27:35):
heard a quarterback talk about third down that way. But
he's one, right, and he's so young and to have
that level of composure going back to your point about
his swag and his confidence and his self belief. I mean,
the guys in his third year as a starting quarterback
in the league and he has that level of of
(01:27:56):
of of intellect to sort of diagnose what the needs
are for his offense depending on where they're on the field.
This goes to show you how important the development at
the college level can be for a quarterback, because he
doesn't get that if he's in and out of college
like Mitchell Trabiskie or or um Trey Lance. You know,
(01:28:17):
you get that from spending years in meeting rooms and
listening offensive coordinators give you their philosophies about different things
and head coaches and the development that occurs during those
formative years of your football playing career, and that's the
reason why he's so ready for the challenge now. And
I agree with you, and I said it earlier. If
you're if I'm choosing between Josh Allen today and Joe
(01:28:40):
Burrow today to be my quarterback for the next ten years,
it's Joe Burrow and it's not even close. Well, I
look again at two games in the playoffs last year,
the road win against Tennessee, remember they were the one seed.
That was the game that he got sacked nine times.
Nine times. He gets sacked in that game and he
(01:29:02):
goes twenty eight out of thirty seven for three forty
eight yards. So think about that, thirty seven three and
forty eight yards, sacked nine times. And then in the
Super Bowl he gets sacked seven times, twenty two or
thirty three two sixty three yards a touchdown, no picks.
So what it says is despite the fact that they
(01:29:23):
had a subpart offensive line and this guy is maybe
he's hanging on the ball, but he getting hit. He's
getting hit a lot, and it doesn't throw him off
his game. He's still an accurate pass. He was sacked
nineteen times in four playoff games, and that completed sixty
eight percent of his passes and only through two picks.
(01:29:44):
That's amazing that that is the level of resilience where
he's not gonna lose his focus. And that's why I
get back to the difference between like a Josh Allen
where sometimes he just seems to get a little shaking.
Nothing's gonna shake Burrow nothing. I mean, he gets sack sack, sack, sack,
comes up and makes a thirty yard pass place. Let
me give that to me is why I I just
(01:30:05):
think Burrows next level. Let me give you the most
games throwing multiple interceptions this season regular in postseason. Right, Um,
you have Kirk Cousins on the list at four. Derek
Carr and Matt Ryan are tied with him. Uh. In
the top six players mentioned here, you have Dak Prescott
(01:30:25):
and Davis Mills, both tied at five in terms of
multiple interceptions thrown this season in the regular in the postseason.
Leading the list including today is Josh Allen at six. Like,
when it's going bad for Josh Allen, it gets it
gets worse. It doesn't usually get better. And you're right,
because there's a certain level of frantic nous for you know,
(01:30:48):
he he panics it's sort of like his game hurries up.
It's it's it's a problem a lot of quarterbacks have
where they start doing too much because they're feeling the
pressure from the dfense, They're feeling the pressure from the moment.
There is something somewhat psychopathic about being a very composed
(01:31:09):
person in a very volatile environment like and I don't
mean that as a negative. I really honestly don't like
but you kind of have to be a little bit
crazy to keep your cool when you're in a moment
like that. And so I don't blame Josh Allen or
Dak Prescott who has moments like that too throughout his career,
(01:31:31):
because that's normal. That's what everybody does. But what separates
the best from the rest, the Patrick Mahomes of the world,
the Tom Brady of the world, the way we're talking
about Joe Burrow right now, um, the Wayne Gretzky's, to
take it to other sports, the Michael Jordan's, the Kobe Bryant's,
the Michael the Lebron James is. What separates those guys
(01:31:53):
from the rest of the world is the fact that
when everything's going wrong, they can still make it up
in their mind. I'm going to get this right and
I'm gonna be the reason this goes well. And it's
really difficult. It's a special mind, and I do think
that Joe Burrow has that quality. By the way, just
a quick note here, So that opening lost to Pittsburgh,
(01:32:13):
Remember that was ugly. He was sacked seven times through
four interceptions. The next week when they lost, the Dallas
sacks six times, So thirteen sacks the first two games,
last eight games for the Bengals. For Joe Burrow, he
has not been sacked more than two times in any
of the last eight games. So that's a combination of
him getting rid of the ball, offensive line doing a
(01:32:35):
little bit better, and if you give him time, he's
gonna make you pay, all right. So we got that
game coming up. A little bit later on, we mentioned
the Lamar Jackson situation for the Ravens and John harbother coach, says, Hey,
no problem, do the Ravens have a puncher's chance later
of winning in Cincinnati. We're gonna break it down coming
(01:32:56):
up next. This is Fox Red Zone Radio, and we've
got the place that you may have missed off bed.
We're running back to Sicky flank to the right, back
to throw way that way. Touch stop my Anika Sicky.
(01:33:21):
Now back live to the studios of Fox Sports Radio.
This is Fox Red Zone Radio. All right, so that's
Dolphins Radio network. That was the touchdown that led to
a tie at seventeen. All but boy have things change.
(01:33:43):
Welcome back once again, this is Fox Sports Red Zone Radio.
We alive from the ti iraq dot com studios. Here
is what just happened in this Bill's Dolphins game. Back
to throw a get all that's today Prodiba the fookball.
It's on the crowd. The Dolphins are believable. Let Phillips touchdown.
(01:34:10):
Dolphins Radio now work. Josh Allen gets stripped, fumbles, fumble
returned for a touchdown, and the Miami Dolphins have taken
a twenty four to twenty lead against the Buffalo Bills.
So so much of what we've been talking about came
(01:34:30):
to fruition. First of all, you let off by saying,
don't overlook this Miami defense, and they are doing an
unbelievable job right now. Conversely, we also talked about the
occasional shakiness of Josh Allen, and that's been in full effect.
Rich sets his third turnover of the game. Yeah, two
(01:34:52):
interceptions thrown, both of them costly mistakes. The first one
was an underthrown ball. The second one was a well
covered route that ended up getting tipped and popped into
the hands of the Miami Dolphins defensive back, which led
to three points the other way for the Dolphins. It's
just one of those things. And then obviously we just
(01:35:14):
played the strip sack. It's just one of those things.
Certain people, and I'm not just limiting this part of
the conversation to football players, but people in general, when
things are going bad, they unfortunately make them worse. There
are certain people who enjoy being in the front runner
seat right where everything's going right, everybody's having a good time.
And look at Josh Allen the regular season finale against
(01:35:37):
the Patriots. He he looked great, he looked fine. He
looked like Josh Allen that we've come to believe in. No,
but when things are going wrong, when the bullets are flying,
for real, who do you want at quarterback? You know,
I want a guy like Mahomes. I want a guy
like Tom Brady. I want a guy like Joe Burrow.
I want a guy who has composure. Josh Allen hasn't
reached that point in his career for whatever odd reason.
(01:36:01):
A lot of times when things are going bad, he
can make them worse. And he just did not see
that blitz. He did not feel backside pressure. This is
something that the Dolphins have done throughout the season, blitzing
off the slot, and it's on him. Uh. And he
made it worse by letting go of the football instead
of taking the sack. He was trying to make an
impromptu play and it led to a fumble return for
(01:36:23):
a touchdown. And so all of a sudden, you got
the Dolphins in the in the command chair. This is
their first lead of the game. I wonder also, and
this shouldn't have this kind of impact. And again, this
was a team got up to a quick seventeen nothing lead.
They've been outscored four to three since with the Dolphins
(01:36:45):
take the lead. But think back to yesterday when tomorrow
Hamlin visited with his teammates. Had to be really emotional,
like here's your teammate that was out like out and
your I wit us to that and all the emotion
and the cancelation of the game and here you get
ready for the playoffs, and there he is in the
(01:37:07):
flesh talking to you, and there's just a lot of
emotion right now with this Buffalo Bill's team, and it
just seems like they're losing a little bit of their
control of their emotions right now. And look, there's obviously
a ton of game left. We got two minutes ago
in the third court and we're only talking about a
couple of mistakes. And let's make no mistake about it,
(01:37:30):
the Bills are a better overall team than Miami is.
But emotions can play with you, especially in the kind
of game that football is. Emotions are so much a
part of this sport um And here you have this
exhilarating emotion yesterday to see Damar, you know, in the
flash there he's talking to us like, you know, guys, hey,
(01:37:50):
I'm back and let's let's get this thing going here.
And you got all this going on in your head
and all of a sudden things start going sideways. They
got to get this thing back together right now quickly. Yeah, Yeah,
no question about it. Listen. Emotion plays a huge role
in football. And we were talking earlier about the Minnesota
(01:38:11):
Vikings and how how could they have won all those games?
And who do you credit for winning those games? Well,
you gotta credit the culture, right, you gotta credit the
fact that this has been such a cohesive unit in
such a consistent team all season long. And you know,
plenty of credit goes to Kirk Cousins and Kevin O'Connell
and a star playmaker like John uh justin Jefferson, But
(01:38:33):
you know, it's it's really collaborative. And when you have
a situation like the Bills where there is so much
emotional expenditure, and the emotional expenditure is in a direction
that was unforeseen and scary and there's a lot of
other emotions involved, Regardless of how positive you can spend things,
(01:38:54):
it still has an impact that takes a toll. And
I absolutely by Josh Allen on third dawn and but
that wasn't even close. He's an open receiver. He's a
talented guy. Yeah he had he had. I mean, I
wouldn't say he was wide opening. Look at the replay.
He was wide open when he watched this replay right
(01:39:16):
here on this third down and seven he just overthrew
the ball like, oh no, I was looking at the
play before. You're absolutely right, and seven, Wow, wide open
receiver and he just way over through him. So Buffalo
will punt the ball back to Miami and the punt
goes into the end zone. So Dolphins will take over
(01:39:36):
with the lead twenty four to twenty eleven, sixteen to
go uh in the third quarter. Now, if you're Mike
McDaniel and Dolph and this Dolphin offense with you know,
Skoytler Thompson, all you're simply saying is, I mean the
thing about Miami in this game offensively, Thompson obviously is struggling.
He's ten of twenty five and they only have twenty
(01:39:57):
four yards rushing. They only have a hundred and twelve
total yards in this game. So now you're thinking to yourself,
all right, how can we burn some clock? At least?
Right we got we got a piece together, some first downs.
Miami in this game has seven first downs. That's it.
They only have a hundred twelve yards, and you're winning
(01:40:17):
twenty because you've created turnovers and you created a short
field and you've taken advantage of that. But at some
point of Miami's gonna hang onto this lead. They got
to sustain some kind of office. Well, I said, some
kind of offense, There's no doubt about it. I agree
with the points you're making. I said it when we
started the show, and and the Bills took a fourteen
nothing lead when I was saying, I give the Dolphins
(01:40:39):
a puncher's chance because because the reality is they leaned
on their defense and both of those matchups anyways, you
know now there was a second half meltdown in the
second game, and that's the reason why the Bills ended
up overcoming a deficit and went on to win. And
I'm not saying that can't happen in this game too,
that can can. I see the Bills as a very
talented team who we've seen, you know, show some intestinal
(01:41:01):
fortitude and come back from from desperate straits in the past.
But the Dolphins are well coached football team. To a
tongue of VLO, did not play well particularly well, kind
of average starts in both of the games against the Buffaloes.
But the Bills, but they were able to cobble together
enough to be in both games and win the first
(01:41:23):
matchup earlier this season. So yeah, this was gonna be
a fight the whole way. In my mind. I'm sure
a lot of people had it as look, we're just
gonna wait for the Bills to get to the divisional round.
But I mean, if you're paying attention to the way
the Dolphins play football this year, a lot of those games,
a lot of those games they won, it was because
(01:41:43):
their defense really bailed out their offense. Even though Jalen
Waddle has the seventh most receiving yards on the season
and Tyreek Hill has the second most receiving yards on
the season, I mean, they have and and to it
looked like he was on an m v P pace.
There were games where the defense how to bail them out,
and we're seeing it here live and living color in
the postseason. All right, We're brought to you by Progressive Insurance.

So at that point, the Bills are leading seventeen to six,
(01:42:27):
and I gave you one chance, one chance. I told
that would not be another to jump on the Miami bandwagon.
Uh and uh you passed and I I passed with
confidence too. That was the worst part. Rich. You need
to go buy a lottery ticket or something, and good advice.
(01:42:49):
Go get a lottery ticket. If you win billions, can
I just have like a couple of thousands. Let me
tell you, I take care of my own. I'll go
into the chicken coop and I'll peel off a bunch
for you. I'll get Sammy. I'll get Sammy the ball
behind his penny and engagement. I'll buy the ring. I'll
(01:43:14):
be the Oh there we go. Seriously, they'll go buy
a lottery ticket because your hot tag was right on
the money. Obviously, there's still plenty of game left. But
Miami really has come to life, like I don't know
what I'm talking about. I should have jumped on your
hotake bandwagon, but I didn't. I did not. And you
were talking about emotions. Right before they started the second half,
(01:43:37):
Head coach Mike McDaniel of the Dolphins literally said that
they've gotten this far because they keep their emotions in control.
And then the Bills look like they're already defeated. The
already looked defeated. Their faces look scared, and it's like
there's so much game left. Hold not do it, Hold
not do it. But yeah, Miami is up twenty four
(01:43:58):
twenty on Buffalo ten minutes ago in the third quarter.
A little upset in men's college basketball, Top twenty five,
number six Yukon lost to St. John's eighty five to
seventy four, Number twelve Xavier. They held on to beat
number twenty five Market eighty to seventy six. Then Nick's
beat the Pistons one seventeen to one on four. Julius
(01:44:18):
Randall his tenth consecutive double doublet two points, fifteen rebounds,
his seventh career forty point game, and my Clippers they
might actually win, maybe maybe because they're playing the Rockets,
but who knows. The Rockets are up twenty seven to
twenty five two minutes ago in the first quarter. Back
to you guys, go buy a lottery ticket rich Right
(01:44:41):
right now, we almost saw a big play. Gatsicky was
open and Skylar Thompson through a great pass, but it
was just deflected by a Bill's defender and it went
through Getsicky's hands, a little bit of deflection through him off.
So Miami has just punted the ball back again, Skyler
tops at his ten of twenty seven for only a
(01:45:01):
hundred four yards. They have twenty eight yards. Rushing doesn't matter.
The only thing that matters is the scoreboard. Miami leading
right now by a score of twenty four to twenty.
All right, rich, I want to get to a game
we have yet to talk at all about, and that
is the game coming up Monday tomorrow between the Cowboys
and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Now we can, we can
(01:45:25):
talk all day long about, well, the Cowboys are a
better team than Tampa. Tampa is only the four team
ever to get into the playoffs with a losing record,
and they are. If you've watched this team all season long,
as we have, their record reflects the kind of team
there are. They are an eight nine team playing in
(01:45:46):
a bad division. Their quarterback is the goat, no question
about that, but by his standards, he hasn't had the
kind of season he's had in the past. And there's
a multitude of reasons, um including the fact that offensive
line isn't quite what it was when they won the
Super Bowl a couple of years ago. So this is
one of those games where you're you're like all right,
(01:46:09):
going against Tom Brady at home doesn't seem like a
wise idea. But it also doesn't seem like a wise
idea to go against the team that, man for man,
is the better team, which the Dallas Cowboys are. So
let's start with the Brady aspect in this game. And
a couple of years ago, when you made the bold
(01:46:31):
preseason prediction but the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with their new
quarterback Tom Brady would win the Super Bowl. He made
that prediction before I told you you are high. Uh.
And then when and then when I when Tampa Blue
Casey off the field in that Super Bowl, I proclaim
I will never ever again bet against Tom Brady in
(01:46:52):
a playoff game. So as I was sitting there last
night on TV, like we're making our picks in these games,
I said, I kept remind him, I say, you can't
go against Tom Brady. It's a playoff game and he's
at home. But my head keeps telling me, yeah, but
Dallas is a better team. So as we on the
(01:47:13):
eve of this matchup here, what what is your gut feel?
Because I know, obviously you have a lot of ties
personal ties to Tom Brady, but I mean Cowboys are
the better team, right, am I not mistaken? No, you
are accurate. Cowboys almost position and position um are a
better team. However, what is the most important position on
(01:47:39):
the field and what happens when you have a player
who can't handle the moment. Well, it's not like the
Miami Dolphins are playing really well offensively, It's not like
Skyler Thompson is having a really good day. It's really
the fact that Josh Allen is melting down outain that.
(01:48:01):
That's the reality of the quarterback position. You could be
hemmed up tight at every single other position on the field,
but if you don't have a great quarterback, you don't
have much. Now, I'm not saying that Dak has not
shown greatness. Dak Prescott is a very talented quarterback, a
top ten, top twelve, top fourteen quarterback every year that
he starts and he's healthy for And that's the reason,
(01:48:24):
and that's a huge explanation as to why the Dallas
Cowboys have had the sort of season they've had. But
let's be very real with each other. The matchup that
everybody can't wait to see, and the reason because of
its importance is Tom Brady against dak and ten times
out of ten Tom Brady wins that matchup. There's just
no question about it. There's no question about it. So yes,
(01:48:47):
I understand the Bucks have looked really tragically poor at
times this year. And I get it. The Dallas Cowboys,
they are the type of team who you should expect
to have an easy time with UH. Team that barely
barely earned UH the record they had towards the end
of the season. They had a scrape and scratch and
(01:49:09):
scrounge to get to the record they had the Buccaneers.
The Dallas Cowboys made it look easy sometimes. I mean,
we were just talking about how Minnesota got beat by
almost forty points by the Dallas Cowboys. Minnesota's a third
team win football team. I mean, they've taken a couple
of teams behind the tool shed this season. The Bucks
have not done that. They've kind of lived off of
(01:49:30):
winning close games until the second to the last game
they played this season, where Tom Brady and Mike Evans
finally uncorked and got things going together. But it's Tom
Brady and Dark Prescott. And again, I like you just said,
like everybody should know, you never bet against the Tom
Brady led team in the postseason. Look at his record.
(01:49:52):
He's thirty five and twelve in the postseason. Count up
the rest of the NFC quarterbacks. They have three NFL
postseason wins, but ween them, I have Tom all day
long on Monday night. All right. So, by the way,
Buffalo three and out get negative two yards on that
last possession in three places or Buffalo they have just
punted the ball back to Miami. So once again, as
(01:50:14):
we are now at to go on the third quarter
bills looking for answers, they are completely discombobulated. All right,
let's take the next step on Tom Brady. Is this
his last season in Tampa? Is this his last season
in the NFL? I don't think it's the last season
(01:50:34):
in the NFL, because even if they get a first
round bounce from Dallas, which I'm not predicting, um, I
think there's still I think if you you asked Tom
Brady after the sort of emotionally turbulent year that he's
had off the football field, do you really want your
life to change that much all at once? So you're
telling me that your your wife of ten plus years
(01:50:59):
and you decide to divorce, your family has been upended.
You're in the middle of an insane and bizarre crypto
scandal where you were a celebrity endorser as ft X
hits two kids, and you're gonna retire from football all
at once. Well, he has a thirty seven million dollar
(01:51:20):
per year job waiting for him. Oh, I understand that,
But that will be waiting for him regardless of when
he retires, and that's part of the contract, you know,
Fox is So here's the thing about Tom Brady. By
the way, they're reviewing a play right now where Skyler Thompson.
I thought his knee was down, he got sacked, he
threw the ball up and they did get a gain
(01:51:40):
on the place. So we're looking at that right now. Um,
here's the thing about Tom Brady. If he leaves Tampa,
the only reason he would continue his career is if
he's joining a team that has the ability to win
a Super Bowl. I mean he's not. He's not going
to any team. It has to be a team. The
(01:52:00):
most obvious team would be the forty nine ers. There's
a ready made team that may win the Super Bowl
this year for all we know. Um, you would get
a forty six year old quarterback You can't look at
him as a long term situation. It would have to
be a short term. We go back to the Raiders situation.
We had some crazy idea of a possible tray for
(01:52:22):
Lamar Jackson. Let's throw that out. Josh McDaniels obviously knows
Tom Brady. Does that make any sense to him? Would
he join the Raiders? Does that look like a team
that you just put Tom Brady in boom they can
win a Super Bowl in that division with the Chiefs.
I mean that, that to me is the biggest question
(01:52:42):
moving forward for Tom Brady. If not staying in Tampa,
where where does he go? Where he would have a
team with the ability by just inserting him to get
to the top, because why else would he continue to squirrel?
He's about one thing, winning championships. Quick costly interception by
Skyler Thompson, who right now is ten of eight with
(01:53:06):
a hundred four yards that's all we said. He can't
do that. That was a terrible pass. Yeah, he was
throwing to a double covered receiver down the left sideline
and right into the arms of a Bills defender, and
so Bills get the ball back on the Dolphins side
of the field, and this is a sort of emotional
(01:53:27):
momentum shift that the Bills absolutely need to capitalize on.
But this defense for the Dolphins has just been, I
mean to put it mildly ferocious. They have put Josh
Allen under siege and he has been really floundering in
this game, although he just completed a first down uh
pass and they are now at the twenty yard line.
(01:53:49):
So listen to speak on Tom Brady. Look, Tom Brady,
he can write his own ticket. There's virtually ten teams
in the NFL that would probably sign him as a
re agent and move over their current starting quarterback or
abandon whatever plan they had for their starting quarterback to
sign Tom Brady two virtually as long as a deal
(01:54:11):
as he'd want to sign, as long as the money
was right, you know, because I'm sure if he wanted
to sign a three year deal with the Tampa Bay
Buccaneers based off of this season's performance, he wasn't the
reason they were a lousy football team the NFL And
attempts and completions, yeah, I mean, he he had a
pretty decent year. About Miami. How about Miami? Miami is
(01:54:31):
a good fit. Um, you know, think about Miami. First
second here, right, go ahead? Yeah, okay, so we really
don't know the future to a tongue of blow, we
do not. I mean, they can say a lot of
different things. This team has Tyreek Hill and Jalen Waddle.
This team has a great defense. In other words, this team, well,
(01:54:52):
let's put this weight. They're winning a game against Buffalo
right now with Skylert Thompson. Okay, so uh and he's
been awful. Um. And remember Tom Brady was talking to Miami,
remember before he signed with Tampa. So if you were
the Dolphins and there's all these questions about two a
tongue of voloa and even this you keep toa's not
(01:55:15):
going anywhere. Maybe he needs a year off right to
sort of, you know, get his thing together. You bring
in a team. Mean that that one makes a lot
of sense to me, tom Brady to the Dollar. But
hang on a second, Gonna, I'm gonna give you another scenario.
Check this out. And this is one that nobody has
talked about, I think except for me. But I think
(01:55:35):
it makes a lot of sense. So if Tom Brady
leaves Tampa Bay, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers fall apart, and
my guess is they're going to tear down that organization
and start from scratch. They're probably be looking for a
rookie quarterback in this year's draft, potentially if they can
either trade up to get one or if one falls
to their draft position, depending on what happens in the postseason.
(01:55:56):
Here um, if he leaves and he's a free agent,
he's available to anybody in the NFL to sign. And
he was interested in going to Miami in the first place,
as long as Sean Payton was willing to come with him.
Why don't you just go to the Saints. Go to
the Saints who have a good defense, like a really
good defense. Help them put together a roster offensively that
(01:56:17):
makes sense to suit his needs. Sean Payton at the
helm who, by the way, the Saints still have his
rights because he signed a five year contract extension in
September often he still has time on that deal with
this Wow, So Sean Payton returns to the Saints after
a year off with Tom Brady. With Tom Brady and
by the way, think about the a f C West,
(01:56:39):
why would he sign with the Raiders so he could
go against the Chargers with Justin Herbert and the Chiefs
with Patrick Mahomes. Why would you sign with the Dolphins
so you could go against Josh Allen and the Bills,
so you could go against Belichick, your old coach, who
will have your number some of those games. Stay in
the crummy NFC South. The Tampa Bay Will Buccaneers will
be rebuilding, so will the Carolina pant I like that,
(01:57:01):
all right, put that on hold for a second. Here,
we're keeping our eyes on Buffalo. They have a third
and eight right now, six and a half minutes to
go in the third quarter, trying to write themselves, trailing
the Dolphins by a score, and Josh Allen has just
run for a first down. All right, He's back on track,
at least for the moment. Keep it here. This is

and we've got the place that you may have missed.
To the right of Alan the shotgun. Here's the snap,
fires it to Beasley at the three luncheons for the
end zone touchdown. We'll give back cold Beasley. Buffalo back
(01:57:45):
in front now, back live to the studios of Fox
Sports Radio. This is Fox Red Zone Radio. Hi, that's
w g R five fifty bills are Radio Network. You
heard it right there, Bills retake the lead twenty seven
the twenty four and a six yard touchdown pass from
(01:58:08):
Josh Allen Nicole Beasley. This is Fox Sports Red Zone Radio.
We are live from the ti iraq dot com studios.
And after this latest incompletion by Skyler Thompson, he's eleven
of thirty one. Now, I'll put it this way. The
reason that the Dolphins are in this game is the
three turnovers that they were able to create, uh, two
(01:58:30):
interceptions and then the fumble that was run back for
a touchdown. I I mean, this is their best option
at quarterback. I mean this is this is rough watching.
Uh Skyler Thompson, who, by the way, if it weren't
for Brock Purty, would be the lowest draft pick ever
to start a playoff game. Well, let me let me
(01:58:51):
jump in and say, yes, this is the best they
have because Teddy Bridgewater and two A tongue of il
are both injured. And this is the reason why Spring
league football has really struggled, because once you get to
the third string of these NFL rosters, this is the
level you get to. These defenses are really good and
even some of the most talented college quarterbacks ride the
(01:59:13):
pine their entire year at the NFL level, or never
make a roster because they can't hang man. You know.
So anytime the XFL or the Alliance of American Football
or any of the spring league UH football, Professional for
football UH sports leagues get get off the ground, everybody goes,
oh my gosh, the quarterback play is so bad. Well,
(01:59:36):
that's why it's because this is really hard to do.
And Skyler Thompson, the point I was just making when
you get to your third string quarterback is representative of
what all these teams look like when you get to
that level in your quarterback room. All right, he uh
through another in completion eleven of thirty two passings. So
Miami has to punt the ball away and wow, there
(01:59:58):
was a loose ball on that. But at does look
like the Bills have recovered. And this is a kid.
The only way the Bulls lose this game is if
they self destruct. And that's how we've gotten this close,
uh in this game right now, so Bills will take
over four. Now they're pointing both ways, but I'm telling
you this is this, This could be the ball was
(02:00:19):
muffed on the punt return. There's no question it was
a loose ball. Was definitely a fumble and it was
falling on by the Bills. I mean the Bills recovered
the phone there, I'm looking right now. The Bills got
the clearly felt on the ball. All right. We got
a long way to go, folks in this game. Can
the Dolphins hang in there? Can they pull the upset?
The Rich say was very possible? Keep it here you'll

way to generate any offense, this is a Miami team
(02:01:51):
that has eight first downs and only total yards in
this game. They were leading for a moment there, but
now down ten to Buffalo. Jillen Waddle a little more
involved in this game plan. He's only been targeted four times,
he has zero receptions, obviously zero yards. It's just you know,
there are certain players on this Miami offense who, even
(02:02:12):
in the short passing game, if you get them involved,
my goodness, they can have a huge impact. I'm talking
about slant routes, angle routes, uh dig routes where the
ball is not traveling all that far out of Skyler
Thompson's hands. But you'll be able to get these guys
on those catch and run plays. Nice little pass to
the sideline though, connecting with Tyreek Hill on the first
(02:02:33):
play from scrimmage for the Miami Dolphins. Here on this drive, well,
here's the thing when you've got guys like Tyreek Hill
and Jalen Waddle, they can do a lot with little right.
I mean, five yard passed can become a sixty six
yard touchdown just like that. And and that's that's what
the Miami offense is really built on. So anytime you've
(02:02:54):
got those kind of players on the field, you can
break a big play and get right back into this thing.
There are a lot of pushing and shoving. That's what
happens when you get a couple of division rivals. Uh
in a see I'm watching this replay here on This
is the second time now where Thompson has sort of
surrendered himself at the sideline and taking a big hit
(02:03:16):
and there's no flag. It's like there's no respect for
a guy like Skylar Thompson. I mean if that was
Patrick Mahomes, if that, you know, they would drop a flag.
I don't get this double standard. I mean it's got
to be one way across the board. If you're a
quarterback and essentially you're surrendering on the sideline and a
(02:03:37):
guy hits you hard, kind of dropped the flag. Oh yeah,
Like think if that was Tom Brady, flags drop all over.
They have a rainbow, you know, the shower of flags
all over the field. Yeah, it's I agree with you.
I think that I think that this game has been
poorly officiated because of the flags that haven't been thrown
(02:03:58):
and and both ways. I I think NFL officials in
the postseason officiates so scared that it is frankly painful. Now,
how about this. I think they just gave him a
makeup pass interference call against Buffalo. This was questionable. Yeah,
where's the pass interference on that? These officials are all
(02:04:20):
over the place. Like I said, they're officiating scared. I
thought that this was well listen that White was all
over Uh but I mean, I mean, I mean that
that that's probably right. But I will argue this, They've
let that amount of contact go earlier in this very game.
We've seen defensive backs get away with exactly what White
(02:04:44):
was just called for there. So look, they're they're they're
afraid to make the call that's gonna determine an outcome.
And when you officiate, when you play scared, when you
coach scared, when you officiate scared, you make mistakes. And
that's what we're seeing here on the football field. All right,
So Skyler Thomas really struggling, man. I mean, you gotta
be able to make basic throws here. I mean these
(02:05:05):
little out patterns, you know, for five six yards and
he just can't throw the ball straight. Twelve of thirty
four passing nine yards in the game. Still we as
he come to the end of the third quarter, Miami
downten and they got the ball at midfield, trying to
stay in this game. Um. A couple of teams sitting
out this week. That would be the Kansas City Chiefs
(02:05:26):
and the Philadelphia Eagles. I want to talk about the
Eagles for a moment here, Rich, because we did see
Jalen Hurts come back in that final game they needed
to win against the Giants to secure home field. As
it turned out, the Giants sat everybody in that game,
so they basically conceded that game to the Eagles. Hurts
(02:05:46):
look less than to say the least, in that game.
Now he gets another week off. Are you still looking
at the Eagles as the team to beat? Or have
the forty Niners clearly surpassed them as the team to
beat right now in the NFC playoffs? Yeah? Yeah, I mean,
(02:06:11):
if I'm picking a favorite, out of the NFC, it's
the San Francisco forty Niners. I mean, look, what brock
party has been asked to do is not overwhelming in
terms of like, you don't need Tom Brady or Mahomes
or Borough or Alan to accomplish what he's doing from
the pocket. They're asking him to connect with a lot
of wide open receivers on short routes. And look, there
(02:06:35):
have been some big plays and Brock has kept his
composure and and you know that that short pass out
to the to the fourth read on that broken down
play action passed that got Christian McCaffrey and then zone
was beautifully done. You know, he knew that McCaffrey should
be open somewhere in the flat, and the play broke
down middle pressure. He was able to arrange to his
(02:06:56):
right and complete a pass under duress. And he can
make some plays like that. So I'm not trying to
completely uh discredit brock Purty for the things that he's
successfully done. But um, but but he's not the best
quarterback left in the NFC. But he is commanding the
offense of the best team left in the NFC. And
(02:07:18):
so I look at the Philadelphia Eagles and I say,
if if the Niners play their best game and the
Eagles play their best game, who wins. It's the Niners.
I mean, it's just the right now. They're just they're
so good and they haven't missed a beat since Garoppolo
went down with an injury. So yeah, until proven differently,
(02:07:40):
I got. I got the Niners in the Super Bowl.
By the way, we have a breaking story right now.
Aaron Donald has just changed his Twitter bio. It now
says former NFL D lineman for the Rams number So
this just happen on Aaron Donald's Twitter account. He just
(02:08:04):
changed his bio to say former NFL D lineman for
the Rams number nine. Now, remember Aaron Donald publicly stated
that he was sort of tied to Sean McVeigh, and
McVeigh of course making the announcement that apparently the offers
weren't there for some lucrative TV job the way they
(02:08:26):
were a year ago. So he's returning to the Rams,
as is Matthew Stafford. Steve just a really quick update
on that. He did edit it again after that, he
briefly labeled himself as a former Rams DK. Well, then
nothing happens by chance, Why would he do well, he's
he now reads former pit football player number NFL d
lineman for the Rams, number ninety nine. So maybe he
(02:08:49):
he was updating it and put the former in the
wrong sol Um. It would be news to me because
I felt like they're all tied to Sean McVeigh. His
logovans McVeigh is there, Aaron Donald's there, Matthew Stafford is there. Um.
You know, there's a lot of theories on why McVeigh
ultimately decided to stay. Um, I think part of it.
(02:09:11):
I think he was fishing. See, here's the thing about
coaches in general in the NFL. We don't know exactly
what their contracts are. Like there's estimates that Belichick makes
twenty million a year and Pete Carroll makes like fifteen
million a year and Sean McVeigh makes like fourteen We
don't know for sure because unlike players, where we actually
have the evidence of what they actually make, and we
(02:09:33):
we estimate sometimes. Do you think that Sean McVeigh was
fishing for more money and got it from the Rams
to make sure he stayed, or that the offers that
may have been on the table a year ago for
those broadcast jobs were filled and they weren't quite as
lucrative as there were a year ago. Why, ultimately do
you believe that Sean McVeigh decided to stay on as
(02:09:54):
the coach of the Rams because they have a chance
to win next season. I mean, look, if Matthew Stafford
comes back as capably as he did in twenty one
in three, and Cooper Cup is healthy and Aaron Donald
is back, and this Rams team can improve this offensive line, which,
(02:10:17):
by the way, by nature of you know, rational thought,
like the guys who got playing time this year, will
will be better next season, like you you unless they
they're all so bad at their given positions that they're
not going to develop any further. They're going to be
better because they're gonna have a year of experience under
(02:10:37):
their belt, a year in this offense, and and you know,
hopefully that leads to a deeper offensive line and wealth
of of talent at that position group. But they're gonna
add in the draft, they're gonna add in free agency.
I mean, it's not inconceivable to imagine that the Rams
coming back in are in just a good shape as
(02:10:58):
they were on April, coming back in two to go
on a Super Bowl run. They had too many injuries
to overcome, and Sean McVeigh has never been in the
situation where he had been in where legitimately at every
key position group he had a major injury at one
point or another of a season. He's been very lucky
in that way. He's also an extremely talented offensive game
(02:11:21):
plan planner and culture builder as a head coach. So
I think the reason why if he wants to be
back and he wants to coach another season with the Rams,
it's because he feels like with that current roster they
have a good chance to go on a run, and
I firmly believe they do well. The one thing I
go back to Maurice Jones Drew, who does the radio
commentary for the Rams. He said mid season, I haven't
(02:11:41):
seen one game this year where this team was inspired,
not one game, and that's a guy that's seen every game,
so it started from the very beginning. Meanwhile, we've got
a third and eleven right now from Miami. They are
at the Buffalo twelve yard line. Obviously, if they don't
get this first down, they'll take the field goal. Buffalo
(02:12:02):
has a ten point lead eleven to go, so still
plenty of time, and this Miami defense has shown they
can create some turnovers, but this is big right here,
and they need something positive to happen with Skyler Thompson,
he's got to make a play right now. He has
completed four passes though on this drive, so he's starting
to get it a little bit together. So let's keep
(02:12:24):
it right here. A third and eleven at the twelve
yard line. As Miami looking to get on the board
and make this again a one score game, Thompson is
going to have a reverse play going on right now
to Waddle and he gets into the end zone. Touchdown.
Oh no, they're gonna stay. He's down, but it is
(02:12:44):
a first down. It is a first down from like
the half yard line. So Waddle on a little sweep
and he gets the ball. Let's see here on the
replay his knee went down. First. I don't know, man,
look where the ball is. Well, it looked like his
knee was about to go down, but I think he's
extended his leg and I don't believe the knee went down.
(02:13:08):
Oh barely. No, I'll tell you what. That's a touchdown
all day long and tomorrow night as well. That is
I think down. Yeah, it looked like his left knee
was down, but I think his left legs slid while
they're gonna run the next play. Anyway, it's first and
goal for Miami and they're in the end zone. Touchdown Dolphins.
So just like that, we are a point away from
(02:13:29):
a three point game, eleven minutes to go. Wilson in
for the touchdown. Hey, don't go anywhere. It's gonna be
an exciting finished Bills and Dolphins. This is Fox Sports
Red Zone Radio. This is Fox Red Zone Radio, and
we've got the place that you may have missed. Takes
(02:13:54):
the handoff touchdown We're gonna try by the Dolphins. No
back live to the studios of Fox Sports Radio. This
is Fox Red Soul Radio. All right, So that's Dolphins
Radio network. And just like that, the Dolphins are back
(02:14:14):
in it. Bills leading one. The Bills just punted. So
when nine fifty four to go in the game, fourth quarter,
Dolphins leading, are trailing the Bills by score one. By
the way, we were talking about this rich it is.
We are three hours and twenty two minutes into this
game and there's still ten minutes to go. Now, we
(02:14:36):
do this every Sunday, right where we kick off all
these games at ten o'clock and usually by three hours
a little after three hours, most of the games are
over unless we're going to overtime. There's still ten minutes
to go in the fourth quarter in this game. I
mean we're we're staring at a four hour game. Yeah,
(02:14:57):
this is without even over time. Who knows this might
be an overtime game the way we're going, but this
this is the longest game of the year. Well, just
think about two things that we've seen a lot of, uh,
turnovers and reviewable plays, and then also the number of
being complete passed that we've seen for both scholars. That's
(02:15:18):
exactly what it is. I mean, the clock is stopping end.
I'm looking up and I'm like, what time is it?
I mean ten minutes to go in the fourth quarter?
All right, Uh, time now for our progressive play of
the day back to throw out all that's today football.
It's on the crowd. The Dolphins are gonna pick it.
(02:15:42):
Alievable Lett Phillips touchdown. That was Dolphins Radio Network. And
of course that's the play that at least temporarily gave
the Dolphins the lead. On that fumble return for a touchdown,
brought to you by Progressive Insurance. Progressive makes bundling easy
and affordable a multi policy discount by combining your motorcycle, RV, boat,
(02:16:03):
a TV, and more, all your protection in one place.
Bundle and save apt Progressive dot Com. All right, this,
this is really amazing watching this Dolphins offense trying to
function with a quarterback that already has twenty two incomplete
passes in this game. But as we've said time and again,
if you just get the ball to a Tyreek Kill
(02:16:26):
or a Jalen Waddle with a little space off they go.
And that's what they're trying to do. But he just
keeps throwing the ball out of bounds. I mean, another
bad pass by Thompson. But yeah, every time he throws
a pass, guess what clock stops. And that's where we are,
fifteen of thirty eight. I mean, it's been pretty brutal
(02:16:48):
watching him try to run an offense being as inconsistent
as he's been. But um, like I said, in in
in both games where Miami kept the clothes to won
one of them with the Buffalo Bills earlier this season,
it was kind of like that with two a tongue
volo he was able to feed Hill and Waddle in
both those games more successfully than Thompson has been able to.
(02:17:11):
But both of those games were really heavy defensive efforts
to keep them involved, and the offense just sort of
sluggishly ambled along and helped the defense to to a
win and a close game, a close finish when they
visited Buffalo late in the season. So this is very similar.
(02:17:32):
This is very similar to what we saw. I I
don't know if the Miami Dolphins have enough to pull
this one out, but we saw this in the first half.
First quarter was all Bills, second quarter was all Dolphins.
So far in this half, third quarter all Bills, and
so far the Miami Dolphins have made a case that
(02:17:52):
they could they could come back and win this football game.
We'll see they've really struggled with some of these unforced
issues offensively. How many false starts and illegal procedure penalties
have has Miami been called for? I mentioned Jail and Waddle.
He's been targeted four times, zero catches, zero yards. You
don't have a catch. I mean, Tyree Gill has seven catches,
(02:18:15):
but for only sixty nine yards his longest, and he's
been targeted thirteen times. So you think about your top
two receivers have been targeted seventeen times and they only
have seven catches. So yeah, by the way, I'm adding
it up right now. Between the two quarterbacks, Skyler Thompson
and Josh Allen, thirty nine incomplete passes. That is why
(02:18:37):
this game is going so long. And now we've got
a complete pass and that is Waddle's first catch of
the day. So there it is. Jalen Waddle has finally
gotten his first catch of the day. But it's not
gonna be enough for a first down. So fourth and
six and Miami will be plenty with nine minutes to
go here in the fourth quarter. So you know, looking
(02:18:58):
at Buffalo struggle today and again, anything's possible in this league.
And we've got a division battle between the Ravens and
the Bengals. But let's assume that Cincinnati wins and Buffalo
survives this game, and then we have Cincinnati at Buffalo.
(02:19:19):
Do you think a game like this sort of wakes
up the Bills where you're like, wow, uh, maybe we
took you know, Miami for granted because they had Skyler
Thompson at quarterback. Now we're going to go against Joe
Burrow or is it a warning sign that maybe Buffalo
isn't all that and that Cincinnati could well be in
a position because remember last year you had Joe Burrow
(02:19:42):
in the Bengals win at Tennessee at Kansas City to
get to the super Bowl. And this is a and
then and think about all the emotion of these teams
returning together. Last time they saw each other was that
Monday night game. I mean that, can you imagine division
matchup next week Bengals at the Bills. That would be
(02:20:04):
just insane. And and if the NFL has their drawers,
if if they're able to wish something into existence, obviously
that would be exactly what they'd want. But Miami, man,
this is a tough out. It's been a tough out
for the Bills all season long, like we discussed, and
they're showing some intestinal fortitude and play designs and got
(02:20:25):
to have at moments that have been really impressive. I
mean this, This Mike McDaniel run offense has been creative
because what they're lacking is any sort of help from
the quarterback position. So they're finding a way to get
the job done even though they have to game plan
around Skyler Thompson, who objectively has been just awful in
(02:20:51):
this game so far today. And look is it his fault.
I mean, look, you're brought parties the seventh round pick
and he's having some success. But let's face it, this
is what most of the league looks like. When you
get to your third string quarterback. It's not good. And
so it is incumbent upon this defense. It's incumbent upon
this offensive coordinator and coach to get the job done
(02:21:14):
and and coach around their limitations, which I think they've
done a pretty masterful job of so far today. All Right,
so once again the Dolphins did punt the ball away.
Bills will take over to go in the fourth quarter.
They will start at their own tan yard line. And
this is where you've got to get nervous right now.
You've got to take care of the ball. You do
not want to create a short field and a easy
(02:21:36):
scoring opportunity for this Dolphins offense. All right, let's find
out what's trending right now. And it's been quite a
day for Moncy to say the least one game. Uh,
this game, I mean, we're we are going to be
done with our four hours here. This this game is
not gonna be over, Oh not at all. Actually, tom
(02:21:56):
phillas Ero just tweeted that there's booze in Minnesota as
the p A announced that the game will be delayed
until three pm Central time because of the Dolphins Bills game.
That game is now on the video board, so people
can see what's happening. So everything is being delayed because
how long this game is taking. This game a long time. Yes,
(02:22:17):
we still have a little less than eight minutes to
go in the game, which in football time, that could
be twenty more minutes, right right, So the Minnesota game
officially delayed because of this game. But apparently the fans
can now see this game going on, so they know
what's happening and why the game is being delayed. But
this has been a pretty wild game for Wild Card weekend.
(02:22:41):
I really was not expecting this to be the score.
I know Rich did, but not me. The Bills are
only up by three thirty one, unbelievable, and I am
a little nervous. I I think the Bills really could
lose this game, and I was not expecting that. But
we'll see again. Eight minutes to go still in the game.
What's trending? Aaron Donald everybody's joking about the quickest retirement
(02:23:04):
that he had because of what he put on his
Twitter account, uh saying that he was a former NFL
aligneman for the Rams. But obviously he changed that. But
everybody is talking about that. Everyone on Twitter keeps talking
about it, using funny memes that it was the fastest
retirement ever. Uh. So he's back. Though he's back, don't worry,
my Clippers are not back. No, the Rockets are still
(02:23:26):
beating them, seventy four to sixty nine. Halfway through the
third quarter, Terrence Man leads l A with twenty two points.
The Warriors, who are playing with Steph Curry, are taking
on the Bulls wore and not playing with Tamar de
Rosen missing his third straight game. But the Bulls are
up there in Chicago, fifty five minutes to go in
the first half. Guys, I'm nervous, I'm sweating. I don't
know how this game is gonna go back to you. Well,
(02:23:47):
we just got a big pass play right there for
the Bills to get the ball to midfield. Share right
there getting the pass play from Josh Allen. So Buffalo
has the ball at midfield right now, leading thirty four
to thirty one and uh, well that Miami defense, woof,
they're pretty good. Yeah. No, they've been on a run
play for the Bills that could have lost more yards.
(02:24:09):
Actually they got lost a couple there. Their their defensive
front um in particular has just been uh sensational today,
And I understand this is saying that about a defense
that's given up thirty four points in this game. So
you know, like you kind of take that with a
grain of salt, because overall, the most important number that
(02:24:31):
you're gonna be judged by if you're an NFL defense
or any defense at any level of football, is how
many points you allow. And this is way too many.
But they've done well enough getting turnovers. They've forced three
in the first half. That's the only reason why the
Dolphins have life in this game. Just got a sack
on Josh Allen there and they've been playing for the
(02:24:51):
most part. That play included in the offensive backfield of
the the Buffalo Bill. So I've been really impressed with
the front seven. On the back end, some of these
defensive backs have I mean, they've left some of these
Bills receivers wide open, and Josh Allen, if there's one
thing he can do is he can connect down field
(02:25:12):
with a wide open receiver. There's no question about that.
I mean, it's it's crazy. Total yards in this game
Bills four, Dolphins one two. Bills have three turnovers, but
the Dolphins have two. Dolphins have more penalties, time of
possession in the Bill's favor. All that being said, Bills
have a stree point lead and the third down there's
a fumble on the play. It is recovered by the Bills.
(02:25:35):
Josh Allen as he was going back to pass, had
the ball knock lose. It was recovered by the Bills,
But now they're facing a fourth down. The clock is
running inside five minutes to go, so that was a
fumble for sure. He was hit as he was trying
to release the ball. It was quickly recovered by one
of his offensive lineman. But that's gonna force a fourth
(02:25:58):
down for the Bills, and so after the big pass play,
they could do nothing with it, and they will punt
right now. Clark is actually moving, which is rare in
this game. So four thirty and the Dolphins will receive
this punt. Even this, you get ahold your breath right now,
couln't you believe that unbelievable punt yesterday early in the
(02:26:18):
game where nothing was going right for Jacksonville and it
hit the Jacksonville guy in the helmet. Yeah, well you
know who that actually, who's to blame for that? And
you could see pretty pretty easily that he he wasn't
doing it, Jamal Agnew. When you're the returner, your job
is twofold one. You count and make sure that there's
(02:26:39):
ten guys in front of you so that no matter what,
you're not gonna get called for the too many men
on the field. And the second job is if a
ball Obviously, the most important job is to catch the punt,
catch the punt, catch the punt, but the second job
is to make sure that if anybody is near a
short punt because your blockers downfield cannot see where the
(02:27:00):
ball is in the air because they have a blocking responsibility,
you gotta be screaming out, Peter, Peter, Peter, poison, poison, poison,
meaning get away, get out of the vicinity, stop running downfield,
get away from me, get away from my voice, because
you're about to get hit with the football and we're
gonna muff this punt. And that's exactly what happened to
the Jaguars. So it was actually Jamal Agnew's fault on
(02:27:21):
that play. Wow, I mean Thompson. So Tyreek kill. Tyreek
Hill got loose, he was open, and he just couldn't
get the ball to him. He's struggling. I mean sixteen
of forty right now, clock stops for nineteen ago. So
the Dolphins take over on their own fourteen yard line.
(02:27:44):
But when when you know the Bills, Bills have pretty
good defense of their own. But when Tyreek Hill can
shake a defender and get open, and we're not talking
about a deep ball here, you gotta get the past there.
You just gotta get the past air and the ball's inners. Oh,
a near interception by the Bills on a pass intendant
(02:28:07):
for Tyreek Hill. Tyree did a good job of basically
preventing that interception. The ball was overthrown. He was able
to tackle and get the ball loose from the Bills defenders.
So that was a narrow escape kill. The level of athleticism,
because he's fighting through a lot of contact on this
(02:28:28):
play to get himself open. The ball is thrown inside
of him. He was expecting it right on the money
to a Sylum. We're talking about a fifteen yard passed.
It wasn't that far down field, and it was an
inaccurate thrown too high and too inside. He tips it
like he's the defensive back, and then it's falling into
the Buffalo Bills defenders arms and he's able on a
(02:28:49):
dime to change directions and burst into the defender and
knock it loose. That was incredibly athletic. Alright, Uh, we've
had a Miami. This is a bizarre time out. No,
they had to. The clock was running out. It would
have been a delay of games. That's what I'm saying. Though.
It's third and ten, you're at your home fourteen yardline
and you're forced to call a time out because the
(02:29:12):
clock didn't they just do this? Yeah, yeah, well there's
a second time this has happened. Skyler Thompson like they're
they're struggling in the plays into him there. He's been
struggling all game with his cadence because they've had a
lot of false star penalties. We were talking about this earlier, Steve.
The unforced errors that Miami has made in this game.
They've probably given up fifty yards in field position just
(02:29:35):
on false starts, you know, delay of games, and now
they've costing themselves two second half penalties trying to avoid
delay of games because they're inside, deep inside their own territory.
If they take a delay of game there and they
don't convert on third down, they're sending their punter out
there in his own end zone, and that sets up
an opportunity for a safety and and a wider deficit
(02:29:58):
to make up. All right, So here we go on
third and long and as complete. I don't know if
that even went to the intended target. It ended up
in Waddles Hanna, I believe it was who made the catch.
The ball looked like it was overthrown. Let's wat to replay.
It ends up with Waddle, But I don't think Waddle
(02:30:19):
was the intended receiver. I don't know why I have
two receivers in the exact same spot something, So they
had Tyree Hill and Jalen Waddle were literally one yard apart.
It went over Tyree Hill's head, but Waddle was there
and made the catch. I think they're questioning right now
(02:30:40):
whether or not Waddle was in bounds when he made
the catch. We're waiting for a ruling, right now somebody
blew a was a route on that one, hopefully, Well, no,
it's Tyreek Hill thought that the ball was supposed to
go to him, so he started drifting. Let's see what
the official says. If we got completed pass on the play,
(02:31:01):
which they do, it's first and ten for the Miami Dolphins.
Wait a second here, they gave it to him. Yeah,
they get to him. What I think they called almost
like a force out because if you watch the replay,
we got both feeding, you got both feeding all right now,
and they get an illegal procedure. This this is painful
(02:31:24):
to try to watch Miami pull this thing out. But
right now, we got four minutes to go in the
fourth quarter, They've got the ball and they're trailing. Yeah,
what we had on that third down conversion was a
levels route to the right sideline where you have a
shallow receiver going to the sideline, an intermediate receiver and
a deep receiver going to the sideline. And I think
(02:31:45):
that he made enough eye contact with Tyreek kill Thompson
did that Hill thought the ball was coming to him,
and if he if it was, it was overthrown by
about ten yards. Maybe maybe he did intend to throw
the ball to Wattle. It couldn't. Maybe it was wattle
all the way and it was just tyreek Hill retreating
thinking the ball was kind to him. That's what I'm saying.
(02:32:05):
He drifted on the rattle on the numbers. We'll give
him the benefit of the doubt. He wasn't throwing the
wall to Tyreek Hill. His It's like the Bank shot.
Oh I intended that, right, Yeah, that's right. I shot. Yeah,
I shot a bank a corner three. But I promise
you I'm meant to kiss the glass. I called bank
on that one. All right, We're going to continue on here, folks.
We had a long way to go. This this this
(02:32:27):
game isn't even close to being over. For all the latest.
Keep it here. This is Fox Sports Red Zone Radio,
Steve Harbert, Red Tarburger, Fox Sports Red Zone Radio. Well,
I'm not gonna say it's over, but fat ladies singing
right now. As the Buffalo Bills have held the Dolphins
(02:32:48):
and we could only be described as a comical fourth
down situation. They had a fourth and one and got
called for delay of game, so they had no more
time amounts Miami because they'd already use them to avoid
a couple of delay of games. Uh. This time they
got kicked hit with a delay of game for seeing
(02:33:09):
a fourth and six. Skyler thompson scrambled pass was incomplete,
so Buffalo has the ball. The only way Miami can
stop the clock is with the two minute warning, but
they're at a time out, so this is uh. Unless
Buffalo turns this ball over Rich, it would appear the
Buffalo Bills are going to survive. And that is the
(02:33:31):
only word to describe this win, if indeed it is
win for Buffalo. Listen, I understand that we do NFL
Coach of the Year based off of the regular season,
but if you're gonna give a single coach that honor,
I mean, just based off of this game alone. The
(02:33:52):
Miami Dolphins have scored thirty one points in this game
and Skyler Thompson is their quarterback. That is a hercuye
leon effort against a defense is dominant as the Buffalo Bills.
I can't believe. I mean, don't be wrong, like I
gave them a puncher's chance, but I'm having a hard
time believing this because Skyler Thompson has been so bad.
(02:34:15):
It really has been. I mean, it's like watching a magician.
They're just pulling rabbits out of their hats. Yeah, it's
it's unbelievable. Well in the last couple of minutes. Uh.
And by the way, let's thank our crew today. Iowa
Sam a plus today on his ga. Yeah there it is. Uh,
he came, he overcame a lot of adversity today to
(02:34:39):
pull this one out. So Sam, I give you credit,
self made adversity, but a lot of adversity no matter
where it comes from. But somehow you escape you and
you're you're alike at the other end, just like the bills,
you know exactly. Sur Yes, Uh, man Cy Belanos of course,
brilliant today. Although she had that opportunity and maybe she
ailed mud it was right she stayed with the bills.
(02:34:59):
Looks like they may hang on. And then of course Ryan, um, wow,
are you excited about Rich's promise that he's going to
invest in your engagement ring? That sounds great. Yeah, I
could make it possible. Money, Yeah, I gotta buy a
lot of ticket and uh, because I know that anything
under what hud k k is not going to be
(02:35:21):
suitable whatever it is she deserves. And that's fair. By
the way, we are live from the ti iraq dot
Com studios. All right, so here's where we stand right now.
We got to twenty two to go uh in the
fourth quarter, and the Dolphins have no timeouts. The Bills
are facing a second and eleven at the Miami forty
(02:35:42):
four yard I'm not gonna say this game is over,
No way, It's not even close to being over. No,
it's just amazing that we had one game for the
duration of our four hours here. This game will not
be over when we sign up. I mean, it's outrage.
It doesn't see we've been doing this for years. We
(02:36:04):
have never had a game that did not extend into
overtime to take up our entire four our block, Steve,
we're closing in on a decade doing this together, and
this this is the first time this has ever happened. Ever, ever, ever,
Every game and we do eight ten games sometimes in
(02:36:26):
a week, We've never had a game that kicked off
at ten o'clock East West Coast time, one o'clock East
Coast time and take up the entire four hours. We're
now at the two minute warning another time out, but
it's not gonna happen. We're not gonna get this game
in I mean, because well, now they're facing a third down,
(02:36:46):
stay at the bills, run a play and run down
clock unless they get a first down here. So here's
where we are. We are at third and seven. The
clock is running minute thirty, minute twenty nine. They're not
going to pass the ball. There was no way they're
gonna run the ball. The clock is down to six
seconds on the shot clock, and Josh I almost feel
(02:37:08):
like he wants to take a knee right now. Why
even risk it? All? Right, there's the ball handed off
and it's gonna be short of the first down. Oh
there's a big push and they didn't blow the whistle. Yeah,
it looks like no, they're marking him shorts down there.
They're marking him short clocks running though seconds. There's about
(02:37:29):
twenty seven seconds difference between the the game clock. But
you see by extending that play, it ran a few
more seconds before they started the clock, and it sort
of feel Terry just kept running. He was short of
the first down, but they couldn't stop the clock. These
these officials also, you gotta remember they have a five
pm dinner time, so they want to make sure that
(02:37:52):
that this game ends here and now. But wait, they
actually have kicked off the Vikings giant. They couldn't wait
any longer. So the Vikings have the ball to start
the game from their own twenty five yard line. So
they said, we can't wait any longer. Enough enough, And
so I'm literally watching right now as uh Kirk Cousins
(02:38:15):
makes his first throw of the game. It's a completed pass,
so that game officially is underway. By the way, that
game also has an effect on the later game between
the Bengals. Yeah, I mean that that slide creates a
potential avalanche for what I mean, can you imagine if Minnesota,
New York goes four hours like this game, I mean,
(02:38:36):
we'll be we may have two games tomorrow, may have
a double headed we only had a single game. The Bills,
believe it or not, what they're doing is they're actually
reviewing this last run by Singletary to see if he
got to the first down marker. I can see the ball.
It looks like it's a little bit short. Yeah, I
(02:38:57):
think they got to ride. I think this is about uh,
you know, two feet shy of the yard of games.
Wait a second, Okay, so they called it. The call
in the field was a first down and the reviewing
to play to ensure the fact that we will take
up the entire four hours of the show with this game,
(02:39:17):
because if it is a first down, they take a
knee in the games over. Oh yeah, no question about it. Yeah,
So I guess, I guess they wanted to make sure
they got the full four out of us. So this
is New York, by the way, so within two minutes
of the end of the game, no side can call
a challenge on a play. So this is an official
review from the NFL. Alright, so just for the record,
(02:39:38):
here you're picking the Vikings in a blowout over the Giants.
Uh your sense on the Bengals Ravens where the Bengals
are a healthy eight point favorite. Um, I think it's
the Bengals. I mean, you know that that's that's way
too much for the Baltimore Ravens to overcome their the
heart and soul that team is Lamar Jackson and the Cabal.
(02:40:00):
It's they're two and a half point favorites on the
road against Tampa and you're all in with Tom Brady.
You never bet against Tom. I mean if he advances
to the divisional round, which I'm I'm again I'm betting
on Brady and the Bucks pulling this one out. And
you can't bet against him there either, because who who
are they facing? It's it's uh, it's the Philadelphi Eagles next.
(02:40:21):
And what is that? Well, we don't know that. If
the Giants beat the Vikings, the Giants will play the Eagles.
They will be the lower seed. If the Vikings win,
then it will be the winner of Tampa Bay and
Dallas to face the Eagles. They are still reviewing this play.
I'm telling you, they're watching our show. There's only seconds left.
(02:40:42):
They want to make sure we did it. We did it.
We extended through that entire show. What's the first own
they're gonna take any It's over keeping on Fox Sports Radio.
