Speaker 1 (00:05):
This is Straight Fire with Jason McIntyre.
Speaker 2 (00:11):
What is up straight firefam, It's me Jason McIntyre. Straight Fire.
For Friday, January twenty fourth, the final NFL weekend with
multiple games is upon us. Oh, ladies and gentlemen. I'm
a little melancholy as we had in a conference championship weekend.
(00:31):
But at the same time, listen, I'm gonna I'm not
gonna lie. I'm a little excited I can get back
to I don't know streaming shows. I started Gladiator two
with my son last night. That was fun. Started it.
I mean, it's gonna take multiple days to watch because
we got a lot of stuff going on. But as
as I was poking around on Netflix, I saw that
Lost is now streaming on Netflix and True Story. I
(00:54):
am the big Lost fan of all time. I watched
all of it. I read the Entertainment Weekly recaps, I
recorded episodes back in the day. It was just I
was looking for clues. I was so into that show.
It's one of my favorite shows of all time. It's
like Lost, No, Lie nine, O two, one zero, a
few other shows, just epics in living color. I mean,
(01:15):
come on, that was a great show, and so I
see it's now on Netflix. I held off on getting
Hulu just because I'm like, I can't get something just
for Lost, And there were a couple of times I
came close, but I was like, yeah no. So as
football ends, you get to stream a lot more stuff.
I've started land Man, that show's awesome. Highly recommend it,
(01:35):
not Paramount Plus. Paramount Plus also has Lioness, which is excellent.
I mean, that's maybe one of the best shows I'm
watching right now. So you know, the end of football
just means actually more free time. I mean, yeah, sure,
I'll dig into NBA stuff and be start betting that
in college hoops a lot, but it's nothing like NFL,
which is massively time consuming. You know, you can bet
(01:55):
it and forget it, as they say with college oops games.
You think I'm watching twelve hours of college basketball on
a Saturday, Like come on. So yeah, it's a little
sad that the NFL's ending, but at the same time,
like it's a long season and you know, listener to
this podcast. Obviously gamble will do best bets at the end,
but kind of sort of excited for the end of
the season and to celebrate this weekend because everybody thinks
(02:21):
I'm the biggest Kansas City Chiefs hater I have on
a Kansas City Chiefs or a Kansas City radio guy.
His name is Darren Smith KLKC Radio in KC. And
you know he's at all the events. He's been reading
my social media. He knows that I'm rooting against the chief.
So we had a good conversation, Yester. I think you
(02:41):
guys will like it and listen. I am. I love
bringing up people I disagree with. He makes some illuminating points.
I mean, I hope I showed him the light, shall
we say on a couple of topics. But I think
you guys will enjoy it. All right here he is
Darren Smith, KLA kl KC Radio.

he knows everything when it comes to sports.
Speaker 2 (03:17):
I know what sports fans want.
Speaker 1 (03:19):
But for everything he doesn't. He knows a guy who does.
Speaker 2 (03:23):
Let's just say I know a guy who knows the
guy who knows another guy. All right, let's welcome into
Straight Fire, a new guest on the podcast, and listen,
I don't hate the Chiefs. We need to dispel that
right now. I respect him. They're great. Patrick Mahomes is
phenomenal and he reads amazing and so just to just
to let Chiefs Nation know, I do not hate them.
(03:44):
I don't have any vendettas against them. Were bringing on
Darren Smith. He is with k l KC Radio in
Kansas City. He knows the Chiefs as well as anybody. Darren,
how you doing, my man?
Speaker 3 (03:56):
I'm doing well.
Speaker 4 (03:56):
But Jason, if I am to help you out, it's
not chief Nation, it's Chiefs Kingdom.
Speaker 3 (04:01):
So so I don't want you get off on the
wrong foot. You know, she's keenom right away. So I'm
just not Yeah, so I just had to sit you
straight on that.
Speaker 2 (04:09):
Just okay, Listen, Chiefs fans are not quite at the
level of like Kentucky basketball fans, who are the most
insufferable in college basketball. Patriots fans have long been just
an awful group to deal with. Listen, man, you win
a lot and you get cocky, and Chiefs fans right now,
I mean I'm just blocking them left and right, you know,
like I'm a tumbo in my mentions, just swatting. I
(04:29):
don't need it. A couple people coming on yelling at me,
and it's again, a lot of it has to do
with the penalties. Let's just get this out of the
way first.
Speaker 4 (04:37):
Okay, hold on, not James, where you go further. I've
seen some of your takes over the last two three years.
It's a little bit more than now when it comes
to you now, it's so so let's be fair about it.
You've you've had some you've fand some my regeous takes
when it goes to the Chiefs losing and stuff.
Speaker 2 (04:52):
Yeah, I certainly I need I want fresh blood. You know,
I do the podcast, I go on the herd and
you know, two weeks of the Chiefs again, it's just
we need some new meat, we need some fresh folks
in there. So I'm openly rooting for the Bills. I
don't mind. Listen, I'm a Jets fan. I've hated the Bills.
I've just tested the Bills forever. I'm rooting for them
(05:12):
this week. But anyways, let's get back. Let's go to
the Texans game. And it was kind of highlighted that listen, man,
some questionable flags and then people and you know how
it is. It's like, oh, the Cincinnati Bengals game for
US in sixteen, ticki tech. And there was just several
times this season where the Chiefs, let's just say, got
a flag and people were perturbed. But now this one, Darren,
(05:34):
was different because it was an island game in the playoffs,
thirty million people watching, and forget about the Jabbroni's online.
The way Troy Aikman went in on the Chiefs and
the referees kind of took it to the next level.
And I wonder, Darren, what's the feeling in Kansas City.
Is it more than hey, it's us against the world,
or are there some reasonable people who say, you know, hey,
(05:55):
we do get all the calls. I don't care. I'll
take them.
Speaker 4 (05:58):
It's man, So I'm not gonna say that they feel
like it's it's us against the world. Now, as you
mentioned that, you know, success breeds that type of jealousy
and stuff like that to where you know, I always say,
you know, and I'm like everyone else until you you know,
toil you knock the you know, the crown off the
head of the king.
Speaker 3 (06:16):
Then that's just what it is.
Speaker 4 (06:17):
And so trust me, Chiefs Kingdom is one of those
is is where look, the Chiefs are just have better talent,
but they also have a better front office and on
top of that, I mean they have better coaching. I mean,
you know, if you go, you know, tit for tat,
when you line them up against against everybody that they
played against, you know, including Buffalo, you know, nine out
(06:38):
of ten times, you know, Chiefs are probably gonna win
that matchup.
Speaker 3 (06:41):
And so.
Speaker 4 (06:43):
I wouldn't I wouldn't go so so far as to
say that they you know that they feel that way,
but I mean that's just the reality of it.
Speaker 2 (06:50):
Yeah, I mean I would agree that they the Chiefs
have a lot of talent. But if we're being real,
their numbers this year and again regular season, I know,
you win a bunch of Super Bowls, you go to
the championship every year, maybe you take your foot off
the gas. Just some basic stats. Yards per play, Okay,
Baltimore won six point eight, Detroit two six point three,
Kansas City twenty fourth at five point one, like Kansas
(07:14):
City did go fifteen to two. Undeniable, But let's not
act like they have like there are some kind of
juggernaut numbers wise, because the numbers don't match up with
the record, if that makes any sense.
Speaker 3 (07:26):
It makes sense.
Speaker 4 (07:27):
But Jason, we still have to look our most cool
when it comes to this media stuff that we got
to put stuff in context. Remember before the season began,
the Chiefs were supposed to have a lineup of Hollywood Brown,
Xavier Worthy along with Rashi Rice and Isaiah Pacheco. Within
the first month of the sea well, you know, my
(07:47):
guy Hollywood Brown, you know saying, got injured on the
first play of the preseason game against against the Jacksonville Jaguars,
so they had to call up and bring in Juju
Smith Schuster. Then, of course Patrick Mahomes takes Rashi Rice
for the season going after a fumble in week number
two against the Los Angeles Chargers. In the course, Isaiah Pacheco,
you know, was lost for most of the season. A
(08:08):
couple of weeks later, so they were without they were
without the you know saying, the majority of of their
of their skilled players for you know, for most of
the season. But they brought in Juju. As I mentioned,
they traded for DeAndre Hopkins, then they brought in They
brought in that they brought in Kareem Hunt and so
so so the fact that you know, you brought in
the people that you had to replace them with, and
(08:30):
and you still and you were still able to be
you know, still able to win and be successful on
top of getting those players back with the exception of
Rashi Rice. And you gotta remember that they also lost
They had lost Charles on Minihew until until last month
because of because of his ACL tier that he had
in the ANC champions game. And of course they lost
uh Jalen Watson early in the season as well, so
(08:51):
they were without him. So so so the Chiefs on
both sides of the ball were affected. You know, I
would say almost almost as much as like Detroit was
on the defense side of football. But the Chiefs had
it on both sides. So the fact that they were
able to continue being successful with the role players or
with the players that they brought in to replace their
(09:12):
starters early on, I mean that says more about the
coaching and the players themselves.
Speaker 3 (09:15):
And it's hard. Yes, the numbers were not as good.
Speaker 4 (09:18):
The numbers weren't great last year with all the drop
passes that they had, But coaching and and and just
being a situation where they had been before, where other
teams hadn't been there. They were able to, you know,
mentally and physically, just you know, just outplay everyone and
our last everyone went the exception of of course, Buffalo
in that game against Buffalo and in week eleven.
Speaker 2 (09:40):
Yeah, now they let's be real, they weren't you know,
the Lions were blasting teams, I mean blowing folks out.
Margin of victory for the Chiefs. We'll just start with
Week one. Bet Baltimore by seven, the Derek Lively toe
in a victory by inches, the Bengals game the aforementioned
fourth and sixteen. I don't want to say phantom flag,
but whatever. They beat the Falcons twenty two seventeen narrowly.
(10:03):
Falcons really screwed that one up Chargers seventeen ten. These
are all one score games. New Orleans Saints. They beat
those guys that the Saints were terrible. Then they beat
the Niners, which was kind of impressive coming out of
the Bile though the Niners were beat up lost. I
UK beat the Raiders by seven, Tampa by six in overtime,
Denver by two on the blockfield goal, Carolina by three,
Raiders by two Chargers by two are you Are you
(10:25):
getting like they're squeaking by But they all these in
all these games like there, I don't want to say.
I know people hate when I say lucky.
Speaker 3 (10:33):
But no, no, no, no, no, no, no, that's that's fine.
Speaker 4 (10:35):
Look look luck luck always has something to do with things,
but skill. But look, when when you talk about all
those scores again, I gotta challenge you on this, what's
the name of the game? Because mind you, now, they
don't do polls when it comes to the NFL.
Speaker 3 (10:49):
Either win or you lose, and so and so.
Speaker 4 (10:52):
Now look, if the Chiefs win by one this week
and go to Super Bowl, and they win the Super
Bowl by one, they're still the Super Bowl champions, right,
regardless of stayle points or whatever. There's still you know,
they so so again to be at that scenario. And look,
this is what I have to remind people about, Jason.
It's one thing when you're you know, when you're the
(11:12):
hunted and you win a Super Bowl and you have
to try to go and defend and you're getting everybody's best.
It's another when you're a two time defending Super Bowl
champion and you're getting in you're and you're essentially everybody
super Bowl week in and week out. Not only do
you have to be at a high level physically when
you go up against these teams, but you also have
to be at a high level mentally. And that's what
and that's what this team has been able to do,
(11:34):
which separates them from everybody else. Again, when you're Patrick Mahomes,
Travis Kelce, Chris Jones, and a few other players, they
have essentially played over this run of seven years, a
full NFL season with their playoff games, So they've played
more games than anybody else in the NFL over this
period of time. And the fact that they were fifteen
and two again goes back to coaching, goes back to players,
(11:57):
and when you're in those one score situations, that that
means that that they allowing the other teams to beat
themselves because because they've played so much situational football that
they know how to handle it.
Speaker 2 (12:08):
Yeah, here's a question for you, Darren, better Chiefs team,
this year's team or the first year Mahomes was the
starter when they lost to the Patriots in the conference championship. Now,
before you answer, let me just provide some context. That
team in twenty eighteen offensively had Sammy Watkins, Tyreek Hill
and I'm looking at their scores. They regularly scored in
(12:30):
the thirties and forties, like every week. They were an
offensive machine. They were fun to watch. That was an
I was rooting for them in the AFC Championship. I
thought they were fun.
Speaker 3 (12:39):
Excit every game I was.
Speaker 4 (12:40):
I was in every game, including the fifty four to
fifty one. What a shootout in Los Angeles.
Speaker 2 (12:46):
Which team was better that Chiefs team or this one?
Speaker 3 (12:48):
Currently?
Speaker 4 (12:48):
Well, I mean, well offensively, yeah, you would say that team,
you know, but but here's the thing. They had the
second to worst. They had the second and last words defense.
They had the thirty first rund defense that year. The
only team that was the worse was the Cleveland Browns.
And so and if you look at it last year,
the Chiefs had the number two ranked defense in the league,
behind the Cleveland Browns last year. So it so it
(13:09):
was a turn of it was a you know, the
tail of.
Speaker 3 (13:11):
Two two teams.
Speaker 4 (13:12):
So, yes, offensively, that was a better team. Now, I
would you know, personally say Eric Dandamy was the offensive
play caller, even though you know, Indo Riguets all the
credit and deservely so. But but in twenty eighteen, offensively,
that was a better team. But it had to be
because of how bad the defense was this time around.
You know, look after twenty eighteen, everyone in the media,
(13:36):
Chiefs Kingdom had always said it myself as well, you
get Patrick Mahomes, a a mid a top fifteen defense,
they can win Super Bowls now if you got a
number two ranked defense and even the offense played I
don't want to say as badly, but you know, but
but not up to not up to parts what they
did last year with all the drop passes and some
of the turnovers and stuff like that. You know, the
(13:58):
defense put them in positions to win games. And that's
what the defense did again this season again, where where
Patrick mahomes early on you know what's having you know,
the turnover issues, the defense was still stepping up and
putting the team in position again. You know, it's hard
for people to stand but it's still boys that at
the facts at the at a at a center course,
(14:21):
still facts. All they are trying to do is win.
The Chiefs come into the season, the Chiefs when they
come into the season, Jason, they have they have three goals. One,
win the division. Win the division, you automat get a
home game. Two after that, you know what I'm saying,
Try to fight for for for the number one seed
so you can get that one by and have home
field advantage throughout the playoffs. And three, get everybody healthy
(14:43):
going into the playoffs. And again with with the with
the homefield advantage, try to win those two games to
get to the super Bowl. That's just what they I mean,
And they don't care how they get there. Trust me,
I'm like you. I would love to see for someone
who's a gambler, who gambles on these games, gamble on
the Chiefs as well. You know, I am someone who
(15:03):
would love to see them put points on the board.
But at the end of the day, selfishly, I want
to annoyin because I enjoy covering the Super Bowl and
goes to Super Bowl. So as long as they win,
I don't care if they win by one. To trust me,
I got I got, I got a lot of great hair.
I tell the players have been keep putting gray hair
on my hands when I got this hat on too,
because you know that that's what they do. So you
know it's uh, you know, it's it's stressful watching them.
Speaker 3 (15:26):
You know, if you're Chief saying or.
Speaker 2 (15:28):
Boring, I'm gonna be real stressful or boring. I'm looking
at Patrick. No hold up, Patrick. Three games of three
hundred yards passing. They have two one hundred yard rushers
all season. There, they don't have any offense. And like,
one of the reasons that I'm kind of just annoyed
and over them is I find their games boring. That
(15:50):
Texans game was a snoozer. You know, it's it's an
island game. There's a billion commercials and there's no offense.
Patrick Holkers for a Bucks seventy seven, Now I know
the counter. What about Buffalo, Well, Buffalo got the early
lead thanks to the Ravens screwing it up, and they played, hey,
we're not gonna screw it up and lose the game,
and they kind of held on, which is a dumb strategy.
Now I don't mind sharing, Darren. I'm I've bet against
(16:11):
the Chiefs. I've teased the Buffalo Bills. I'm rooting Bills,
and I totally, I mean, I totally understand. Patrick Mahomes
ain't losing this game. He does not lose at home. Right,
two guys, that beat him at home in the playoffs,
Joe Burrow in overtime, and Tom Brady, Yeah, so boy,
what Josh Allen's gonna beat him overtime? I don't think so.
I think the Chiefs are gonna win, and I'm gonna
(16:32):
be annoyed.
Speaker 1 (16:33):

Speaker 2 (16:45):
Two weeks leading up to the Super Bowl, we got
to talk about the same Travis Kelsey is a fossil
Kareem Hunt. You know, they got him out of the
old folks home.
Speaker 3 (16:52):
You know.
Speaker 2 (16:53):
It's just I don't know. I just feel like I'm
kind of They're not a dynamic dynasty, like when the
Warriors were rolling with Katie Oh my gosh, mandatory viewing
every night. Honestly, I got a coach.
Speaker 4 (17:04):
You're looking for style points, Jason, I mean, and again
it just goes, you know, and look, I get it.
Two years ago, two years ago when when they were
without Tyreek, I know they led the league and scoring.
Speaker 3 (17:14):
I know that.
Speaker 4 (17:14):
I think they averaged like thirty five thirty eight points
a games. Yes, stop, look, I get it, trust me.
The Houston game last week, I was not a fan
of it.
Speaker 3 (17:22):
Trust me.
Speaker 4 (17:23):
Chief pr they got on me about it because they
saw some of my tweets. They were they were not
happy with the fact that I, you know, kind of
called them called the offense because I thought that they
should be putting up more points. However, however, however, remember
what I said, they were without. They were without three
of the top players most of the season. So you know, yes,
the production may not have been there, but Jason, the
(17:45):
viewership and you know, the television viewership is you know, no, no,
no down.
Speaker 2 (17:51):
Last weekend, NFL were down I think seven or twelve
percent somewhere in that race for the playoffs.
Speaker 3 (17:56):
That part of fine.
Speaker 4 (17:57):
But the Chiefs, the Chiefs games were always number The
Chiefs were the only team that was was the only
game that actually had higher ratings than everybody else.
Speaker 2 (18:07):
Oh well, the Taylor Swift factor. You know, Taylor Swift
shows up to the gate. She's like the number one
music in the world.
Speaker 4 (18:15):
She look first of all, I'm not gonna talk about
about the Man's girl, but all I will say is
that is that she you know, the little cuts to her, Yes,
does not add in viewers. You know, the Chiefs the
way they play that look, the Chiefs, the way they play,
the way that people want to see them lose, kind
of like the Patriots are kind of like Floyd maywhether
(18:37):
people want to, you know, see this team get knocked
off and they just keep coming back.
Speaker 2 (18:42):
Watch Huh, Like I hate watch?
Speaker 4 (18:45):
Well, imagine, imagine look at all the people who were
just like you, have been rooting against the Chiefs to
lose because you're just tired of them winning. But people
are still going to watch now, you know.
Speaker 2 (18:58):
I mean I'm a little different. I got this is
like my job. But yeah, like I gotta coach my kids,
and I got to coach my kids in sports this weekend.
And it's like if it were Bills, if it were
Bill's Jets in the conference championship game, I'm hey, I
gotta find a backup coach one of the parents. Can
you guys step in? But this thing, you know, it's
like I don't what I I'm gonna miss it a
quarter who cares They're gonna win the game, But like,
(19:19):
I don't know, it just feels like there's Chiefs fatigue.
Let me drill down real quick on the pedal.
Speaker 3 (19:22):
Sure, go for it.
Speaker 2 (19:23):
What's your thought. Do the Chiefs get all the flags?
Speaker 3 (19:27):
No?
Speaker 4 (19:28):
No, no, no, Look trust me, man, I you know,
from from my perch thirty thousand feet up in the
press box, I see times where I'm kind of shocked
that the Chiefs don't get flagged.
Speaker 3 (19:40):
You know. Look, I see I see.
Speaker 4 (19:41):
All the all the quote unquote false stars that that
that the Juwan Taylor gets, some of the flags that
that that I know that they've called over the last
few weeks on Trey Smith, you know, has been kind
of you know, bewoodering. But no, no, they they don't
get all the flags because there's there there are times
when you know Mahome's running and he'll get penalties. You know,
(20:03):
that's again people will say what they want. I thought
those two flags that he got last week, especially the
one where the two players were coming over there, everybody seem.
Speaker 3 (20:11):
To be upset. But I'm like, he did get hit
in the head. You know, I don't.
Speaker 4 (20:14):
I don't see what the big deal is now. Obviously
him going out of bounce. I thought, you know, from
from my side of the press spot, oh man, I
could see a flag being thrown, but they didn't throw it,
and you know, I'm fine with that. He was fine
with with not being thrown because I think even he
meant it, he might have flopped on that one. But
you know, no, well no, I mean that's that's what
the man said.
Speaker 2 (20:34):
I you know, I might have flopped there, and I don't.
Speaker 4 (20:37):
I don't think but you know, but but but no,
I do not think that they get all the facts
because they don't.
Speaker 2 (20:43):
Okay, so the numbers disagree with you in their last
eleven playoff games. Well, this is a small sample size,
and it's just playoff games, the games that matter. I
don't really care. If you're not getting a flag against
the Oakland Sorry Vegas Raiders in week twelve, that doesn't matter.
I'm talking about the high level games where all the
(21:03):
eyeballs are on them. The Chiefs are getting fewer penalties
than their opponents. Now I know what everybody says, Well,
that's just they're more disciplined. They don't make mistakes. Okay,
I could buy that for a game or two or
five every single playoff game, because listen, you have been admitted.
The Chiefs are constantly changing the roster. They have to tinker.
It's not like this is the exact same group for
the last three years, several different roster changes, different offensive coordinator.
(21:27):
So like this idea that well continuity and actually know,
if you look at the opponents, the Chiefs are just
simply getting fewer flags. Now is that a bias? I'm
not saying that. Is it rigged. I'm definitely not saying that,
but something definitely appears up when every single playoff game
over the last eleven the Chiefs are getting fewer flags
than their opponents. The numbers don't lie.
Speaker 4 (21:48):
Okay, well, I don't want to put words on that's
now what I said, Well what I what I say, Well, one,
when it when it comes to the play calling. Even
when Eric B and me was here when they when
they won the second, when they won this like a
Super Bowl, Van Nagy was was on the staff and
of course was when the enemy left. Naggy just just
from so so the kind of newdy was still there.
But uh kind of says so much kind of you know,
(22:10):
kind of all run together. But when it well, all
I'm gonna say is that is that a they don't
get all the flax. And when and when it comes
to kind nudy on on the players and stuff like that.
Most of the ross has still been the same. Again,
you know, in the off season they brought in Hollywood Brown,
but of course, as I mentioned, he got hurt first
first player of the preseason, jus My Suster, it got
(22:30):
released from from New England, so he had already do
the playbook, even Kareem Hunt. You know, Kareem Hunt being
back here, it is kind of like on the Redemption Tour.
But but but the fact that he he knew the playbook,
he could be he could he could get put right in.
And so you know, so some of the things you're
saying is just it's again to.
Speaker 3 (22:48):
Me, it is out of context.
Speaker 4 (22:50):
And so that's why I was trying to cut it in
a little bit earlier because I didn't I don't want you to,
you know, kind of run off. And I'm trying to
remember that you said to try to hit your bullet
point by bullet point. But you know, but at the
end of the day, no, you know, the Chiefs are
a very discipline team. And look some of the stuff
I will agree with you on on some of the penalties,
kind of like Juwan Taylor, it is frustrating because you know,
(23:11):
because you know, the thing is you either coaching it
or you allow on it. Obviously you know his I
know he gets a quicker first step, so to speak,
which is why he gets flagged a lot for you know,
for false starts. And you know, one of the things
that I'm always I'm always worried of. You don't want
that coming back to bite you in the playoffs when
it matters most. So again for this particular game this weekend,
(23:32):
hopefully you know he's he's on point with that and
doesn't get flagged for that because hopefully he's not false starting.
So you know, and trust me, the Chiefs don't get
out of fast because if that was the case, they
wouldn't have called that flag or they wouldn't have flagged
d Ford, you know.
Speaker 3 (23:47):
Against Tom Brady in twenty eighteen.
Speaker 2 (23:49):
You know that's think I didn't go back to twenty eighteen.
I only said the last three years.
Speaker 4 (23:53):
Like guy, But I'm saying, but I'm saying, but the Chiefs,
But the Chiefs don't get all the calls, especially when
it matters most and again the Chiefs, the Chiefs put
teams in situations to beat themselves.
Speaker 3 (24:03):
It is it is.
Speaker 4 (24:04):
It is not the Chiefs responsibility to play the game
for the other team, if the other if the other team,
you know, just like you mentioned earlier early in the season, Uh, Cincinnati,
if the guy wants to wants to pass in the
fear on fourth and sixteen, that's not the Chief's fault.
Speaker 2 (24:20):
Yes, well, that was a questionable, questionable pass interference. You know,
especially with the game on the line. It's like it's
like when you when Dwayne Wade drives to the bucket
in Game six or whatever it was, and it's like,
wait a minute, that's not and you know, like the
Sacramento Kings in the flat referees. I don't know, man,
I'm not saying there's a conspiracy theory, just to be clear,
I'm definitely not. It's just I find it odd that
(24:41):
it's not just fans, it's not just media. It's now
announcers chiming in. I mean, Darren, here's a pop quiz.
Speaker 4 (24:48):
Do you know who the refereence hold on has a
you know, certain feeling. Yeah, but Traigman had been feeling
a certain kind of way about Patrick Mahomes even even
early on, you know, when Patrick won his first Super
Treigman was quoted saying, well, when he gets a three,
then you can call me, you know, and he's.
Speaker 2 (25:04):
Got And that was on Twitter. But this is like
during a game announcing, so hold on, like it's I'm
at the point where you know, it's not just fans,
it's not just media, it is announcers. And here's a
pop quiz for you. Who is the Who is the
referee for Eagles Washington? No idea exactly because nobody's talking
(25:25):
about it.
Speaker 4 (25:25):
But no, no, no, no, Well, because I think for the
Chiefs is cleek cleek.
Speaker 2 (25:30):
Yes, well, that's why I asked him.
Speaker 3 (25:32):
How Seoan hockey y the muscle bound.
Speaker 2 (25:36):
That's the officials, so nobody really knows who that is.
You had no idea, I have no idea, but everybody knew.
Speaker 3 (25:43):
I knew what I just forgot.
Speaker 2 (25:44):
But okay, fair enough, every everybody knew the second Oh
my gosh, cleek cleek Blakeman or whatever his name is
is announcing, and then everybody pulls the stats. Here's his like,
we the NFL doesn't need that crap, but the spotlight
is on them simply because of what's gone on with
the Chiefs and the and the flags would you not
agree with that?
Speaker 4 (26:02):
Yeah, but the same thing happened last week against Houston
where they were wondering who the official was. I mean, again,
if that's the narrative that fans and the media are
gonna playoff, then yes, every week because you know, I mean,
we know we already know who's going to be the
official for the Super Bowl. If the Chiefs mate was
gonna be the same, regardless, but people already know who
the official is going to be and the referee is
(26:24):
going to be for the super Bowl in two weeks
in New Orleans. So I mean it's again, people need,
people need stuff for clickbait and people need stuff for
for topics on these talk shows, respectively, because you know,
I mean, you know, that's the business that we in.
So I mean, we just people need stuff to talk about.
And if that's a narrative that will feed, you know,
and drive fan bases to our to our shows or
(26:47):
or to click the article or something, and you know,
I mean that's just I mean, that's the price of
doing business.
Speaker 2 (26:52):
Yeah, best guests on the score for Chiefs Bills.
Speaker 4 (26:55):
Oh sweet Jesus man Ah. Look, the narrative been that
the Chiefs can't score over thirty points for whatever reason,
as though that matters. So for me, I'm gonna go
thirty five twenty thirty five twenty eight Chiefs.
Speaker 2 (27:11):
Wow, thirty five twenty eight. So let me just quickly scan.
The Chiefs have scored thirty five real times this year?
What they scored thirty against Carolina.
Speaker 3 (27:21):
They scored thirty I think twice.
Speaker 2 (27:23):
This year, thirty against Tampa in overtime three times. Wow.
Speaker 3 (27:27):
That is twice twice. Yeah, Panthers and Panthers and the Bucks.
Speaker 2 (27:32):
Yeah, that is a little super thirty five. Wow. Okay,
all right, well listen, we all know the Chiefs are
gonna win. It's written. They're gonna do the three peat
and then probably the script Jason, Yeah, I mean, if
come on, who's beating mahomes at Arrowhead? Not being real?
Who's doing that? It's just it's you know, I'm rooting
for the Bills. It's not gonna happen. I know it.
(27:52):
But anyways, all right, Darren Smith KL Casey Radio, listen, man,
you you're gonna be at the super Bowl, right, maybe
maybe we'll run into each other. I will not be
wearing Chiefs colors.
Speaker 4 (28:02):
Just hey, look, look I'm making you a small bed man.
So because because I know you, I know you're going
for the bills and what have you. If the you know,
if the Bills somehow win, the Chiefs don't, don't you know,
don't make it. You know, I'll I'll buy you lunch
or dinner or whatever.
Speaker 2 (28:21):
I don't.
Speaker 3 (28:22):
Well, that's that's fine, that's what I would take.
Speaker 4 (28:24):
But when but when the Chiefs win, Man, you gotta
invite me on the herd, Man, you gotta go.
Speaker 2 (28:30):
I'm not in any control of that, bro, you know.
Speaker 4 (28:33):
But Rob, you know, but the other ride might be
you know, he might have to make some phone calls.
Speaker 2 (28:37):
So well, I know that's a tough that's a tough one,
my guy. Listen, and you know Chiefs are winning, so
obviously you got you're gonna have a shot. But uh, anyways,
all right, thanks a lot, buddy, and enjoy the game,
and don't we'll talk to you soon, all right, that
sounds good.
Speaker 1 (28:53):

The only thing better than sitting on your couch watching
the games is making money while you do it. Here's
(29:14):
your best bet.
Speaker 2 (29:16):
All right, that was fun. Darren Smith k l KC
Radio covers the Chiefs has been going all the Super
Bowls because the Chiefs are there. And let's just say
we disagree on the penalties, which you know, can just
look at box scores and tell me the answer on
that one. Anyways, all right, let's get to best bets.
And obviously the lines have not budged all week, which
(29:36):
is a sign we could see maybe a half point
move here or there coming up as the limits get raised,
and you know, the big money whales want to come
in over the top with supreme confidence. I don't have
anything huge. I do have a three team teaser. Ohio
State was down to two that cash I have, and
(29:59):
I did Kansas City plus six and then Washington plus
twelve and a three team teaser. Again that is obviously
you can't get that now because Ohio State's done. But
we'll talk through the logic. Just Washington has not really
been blown out this year since the opener. Now, Philly
could get them here. I'm sure you guys have seen
(30:20):
all of the trends about rookie quarterbacks getting this far
in the playoffs. There's just there's an avalanche of information
out there about what happens when we get to these
home games. Round three. Listen, man, everything here favors the Eagles, Guys,
everything everything. Washington is essentially hanging its hat on Dun dun, dun, dun,
(30:43):
Jada Daniels, and frankly, he's continued to deliver. However, of
course this is there. Wait for it, fourth straight road game.
That's a tall order. And let's frankly, the Washington defense
got absolutely carved up by the Lions. If you think
Washington's gonna win, you think that the Philadelphia Eagles will
turn the ball over the way the Detroit Lions did
(31:03):
three red zone turnovers. Is that happening again? I don't know,
because the Washington defense could not get stops. Now, the
one thing I was digging into some of the numbers.
Washington plays a high rate of man. What did Dan
Quinn do. He threw a curveball at Jared Goff. He
did a lot of blitzing, and he toggled between man
and zone to keep Golf off balance. Goff had a
pretty good game, but in some high leverage spots he
(31:24):
threw some bad Picks had a brutal fumble, but they
like couldn't stop the run. That's why Saquon Barkley's rushing
prop is in the high one twenties. Now it has
been bet to the under because that's a ridiculous number.
There's no way I'm touching it. But I'm sure dan
Quinn's gonna have a wrinkle or two. And my props
for this game are is I'm fading the narrative. Everybody
(31:46):
is Jalen Hurts healthy. How can he be? You know
he got concussed against Washington, and you know he was
playing with the knee injury last week and didn't look good.
I don't know. I think he's He's not gonna be
in line for a big So I'm going to counter
to that, and I'm gonna go over fifteen and a
half completions for Jalen Hurts and I'm gonna go over
(32:07):
thirty two and a half for longest completion. The theory
is Hurts can't win from the pocket. He doesn't want
to make mistakes, so it's gonna be a lot of
handoffs and dumpoffs. I'm going counter to that. I personally,
I have no clue if hurts is fine, But I'm
just gonna fade what every single other person is saying
when all the analysis is one way, go the other.
Do you guys remember the Texas Ohio State game like
(32:28):
two weeks ago. Everybody after Ohios date beat Oregon, everybody
had Jerremia Smith over. So I was like, let me
go under, and they cashed easily, had one catch for
three yards. Also, I'm going under Jaden daniels rushing yards
fifty five and a half. Really, that's a massive number
outdoors against one of the best defenses in the league
(32:49):
with an awesome linebacker and Zach Bond who probably will
end up spying Daniels. So I'm going under fifty five
and a half rushing yards for Daniels. Now, again, that's
counter to the narrative everybody's saying one thing. I'm gonna
go the other way we did. If you go back
to the TA podcast this week, the AJ Brown angle,
I'm not gonna bet his total receptions, but I'm gonna
(33:11):
go ahead and assume he's gonna have one of these bombs,
maybe one or two splash plays. The Washington secondary is
just not good. It's just not I know they had
picks against golf. One game does not make a season. Guys,
look at the season long data and I know they're
playing better. Obviously, they got to get some young guys
in there who are really punching above their weight class
and maybe they show up here. But I'll go Eagles.
(33:34):
I'll go Eagles twenty four Washington thirteen. So I'm gonna
be betting the Eagles. Well, I got them at four
and a half. I don't love six as much. Minus
four and a half was minus one twenty two juice.
So to make it easy on hundred twenty two bucks,
it only met you one hundred not amazing. And I
(33:55):
have the Eagles minus one in Buffalo plus seven in
a teaser for Bills. Chiefs, Listen, I'm a realist. Patrick
Mahomes is not losing this game. He's just not. So
I'm not gonna bet the Bill's side. I have the
Bills in a teaser. I'm with ta. I have the
over forty seven on CAC Buffalo. I think this is
a great game. I'm hoping the Bills are able to
(34:15):
make it competitive. And you know, if Josh Allen could
get the ball late with a chance to win it,
at arrowhead. I'm not trusting that Casey defense. Guys, there's
just a lot. Listen. The last time they faced off,
Buffalo got to thirty points. They did not have Kinkaid
or their right tackle or Coleman, and Casey has struggled
with tight ends. I'm waiting for kincaid numbers to come up.
(34:37):
I do think that, you know, he could be the
mismatch that they've been looking for. Obviously, turnovers are going
to be everything. The Chiefs have had no turnovers in
eight straight games. The Bills have had, I believe in
NFL high over the last like sixty years, twelve turnover
free games this season. Well, one of the both of
them cannot continue. That's obvious. So it's just I don't
(34:59):
know Bills heavily. I listen. Obviously, I'm going to be
besieged by Chiefs fans when Casey wins. But you know,
that's life, you know, you you pick a side, you
dig in your heels, you root for the best, and
I'm hoping for good games. Let's go Bills, Let's go Eagles.
We'll see you on Monday.
