Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening to Fox Sports. Good morning, everybody. I am
your fearless leader, Jason McIntyre, very very excited to be here.
I'm coming to you live from the Geico Fox Sports
Radio studios. Fifteen minutes could save you or more on

(00:21):
car insurance. Visit Geico dot com for a free rate quote.
Sunny Los Angeles brighton early Saturday morning. A belated Merry
Christmas to everybody, and a premature happy New Year. I'm
trying to contain myself out of the gate because I'm
about as fired up as I've been in weeks for

(00:44):
a show, folks. We got some we got some good
theories percolating here, and I I'm just gonna dive right
in early and just make the statement that Sam Donald
is going to be okay. He should most definitely one
thousand percent leave USC and go to the NFL. If

(01:05):
the Browns don't want to take him, fine. If the
Giants have no interest in Sam Donald, that's lovely. Please
let him fall to the New York Jets, folks, I
just pray that it happens. Now. Let me set it
up with this. You guys know, I'm I'm just not
a big fan of these bowl games, these exhibitions, Okay,
they don't mean anything, and everybody wants to watch them

(01:29):
and read so much into them. Folks, you're just doing
it wrong. These exhibition games mean nothing. If you watch
Sam Donald and USC Ohio State last night and your
takeaway was, oh, well, Jay, Sam Turnle's all ready for
the NFL. Look at how he's handling the football interception picks. Say, oh,
Sam Donald is terrible. Folks, stop stop yourself. You are

(01:54):
reading way too much into these games. These teams had
a month off. What do they say about idle idle time?
I think that I think the saying is idle time
is devil's play. Right. Players go out and get arrested,
Players decide whether or not they're gonna go pro. Maybe
they'll sit the game out. A lot of things could
happen in a month. Coaches leave, coaches slightly recruit players

(02:17):
to transfer. Okay, a lot can happen in a month.
And in the case of USC Ohio State, what you
saw last night was a former NFL coach, Greg Shiano,
the Ohio State defensive uh guru. He had a month
to put in wrinkles and tinker with his five or
six future NFL players on defense against an overwhelmed USC

(02:41):
offensive line. A clueless USC coaching staff. Folks, we've been
saying this all year. This USC team. I know, I
bought into the hype in the preseason, just like everybody else.
But this team, this coaching stuff, they're not They're not
very good, just too young. Okay, you cannot read any
thing into these ball games. Please. All I'm seeing I

(03:05):
go on social media, I turn on the radio. Oh,
the Pack twelves getting slaughtered. I see my guy Iowa
Sam here, he's he's a man from the heartland. A
Big ten is dominating. Big ten is five and oh
in ball games? Uh, what did we stay all season?
The Big ten has the best coaches in the country,
and with a month to prepare for opponents, they're gonna

(03:28):
murder people. They are gonna win all their games. Now
you look at the Pac twelve there down. I believe
after the USC lost their Pack twelve, Sam is one
and seven. Kind of predictable, right. Josh Rosen did not
play for U c l A. Luke Fowk, a future
NFL quarterback, did not play for Washington State. If you

(03:50):
watch the Stanford game, Bryce love their Heistman Trophy candidate
gets hurt in the fourth quarter of a one score game,
goes out, Stanford fails, They lose by two. Don't read
any thing. It is a ball games. Arizona lost and
Perdue beat him in the final minute with an amazing
pass on third down. These bowl games are come on.
If you're reading a lot into the ball games, stop,

(04:13):
I'm here to help people. That's what I'm here to do.
And I've got to spend some time now diving deep
into the Sam Donald College Football Bowl Game NFL stuff. Okay,
I said this on this show earlier this year that
in the preseason, all the NFL scouts are saying, wait
a sec. Look what you just sees doing to Sam Donald.

(04:36):
They opened their campus. Anybody and their mom who wanted
to interview Sam Donald, come on down, We've got a
iceman candidate. They would open it up, radio, web, TV, print, Uh,
everybody who had a podcast could interview Sam Donald in
the preseason. You know what that did, right, That jacked

(04:57):
up expectations for everybody. All Sam Donald with about in August,
so you're gonna win the Heisman, so USC winning the title.
It built up this narrative outside to to the fans
from the media that Sam Donald just can't miss in
USC is the best. You know, what the expectations do
the first time Sam Donald throws an interception or fumbles,

(05:21):
Oh my god, Wait, this guy isn't the second coming
of John Elway. What this guy is in the next
Andrew Luck. Look, he threw an interception against Central Michigan.
He's not perfect and that's what these expectations do. Now. Listen.
I was all in on Sam Donald. But the key
difference here, folks, I'm still all in. I haven't seen

(05:43):
one thing that worries me. And I know producer Rob
uh And we talked before the show. He's seen some
things I haven't. I'm watching closely. I haven't seen a
damn thing that worries me about Sam Donald. Not one thing.
I believe. I came on this show after uh USC
lost to Washington State. It was a late Friday night game.

(06:05):
USC lost like three offensive linemen. Sam Donald got killed
in the pocket as he did all season. Guy was
seeing ghosts running from defenders in the pocket because his
line was so bad. I mean, hell, last night against
Ohio State, they were doing three man rushes against five
offensive Lineman and getting to Donald, like, come on, we're

(06:28):
gonna blame Sam Donald for that all of a sudden,
Sam Donald is not a great NFL prospect because his
offensive line is garbage. I haven't bailed on Sam Donald,
and you should not either. I mentioned Sam Donald has
thrown I believe thirteen interceptions this year. You know Deshaun
Watson through seventeen last year. Oh, Jason, he did, I

(06:53):
know not Deshaun Watson seventeen interceptions last year. I hope
you weren't nervous after you saw those. I hope you
were one of those hot take artists who were like, whoa,
he threw two interceptions against Pittsburgh. I need some time. Um,
I don't know if he's gonna be a can't miss
NFL folks. That's why, whether it's a couple interceptions here,

(07:16):
a bad Bowl performance there, you can't read too much
into these games. Deshaun Watson fell air quotes around fell.
I mean that was a perfect spot for fell to
Houston and at dopey coaching staff. I still can't believe
they started Tom Savage over Deshaun Watson. But that's neither
here nor there. Watson, all he did in Houston, folks,

(07:41):
was basically get on track to have the greatest rookie
season of any quarterback in NFL history. That's the pace
he was on before he tours a c L. Jamis Winston. Now,
I know he hasn't had an amazing NFL career yet.
He threw eighteen interceptions in his second year at f SU.
Sam Donald's only got thirteen. So if you play any

(08:01):
interception card, you gotta rip that up and toss it out.
Winston went first now in Tampa, and we're not gonna
dive deep into this. He's on his second head coach. Okay,
he has not been great at Tampa. He does not
look transformative. Hell, at times he looks fraudulent. But he's
twenty three years old. He's still younger than Dak Prescott.

(08:23):
So don't don't Jameis Winston yet. Okay, but he threw
eighteen picks in his second year as a starter. So
back to Sam Donald's he's gonna be fine. Okay, we
know u USC and again we followed USC and Sam
Donald closely all season. Internally, U S he was a mess. Okay,
That coaching staff bit of a train wreck. Clay Helton

(08:44):
ask anybody, nice guys, super great guy, Clay Helton as
a coach. I don't know that. Not a top five
guy in the pack twelve. Okay, they're offensive game plan.
They had two different people calling lace T martin in
over his head. Sam Donald essentially bailed that team out

(09:07):
all season. They were the only He's twenty and four
as a starter. Guys, he is twenty and four as
a starter at USC and we're killing him and acting
like like he's a joke. And I don't even love
quarterback wins as a stat I'm just putting that out there,
and I'm gonna close with this because this is my
ace card in the hole. If you watch Sam Donald
last night and said, ah, just not a good performance,

(09:29):
big spot. Anybody remember the two thousand seven L s U.
Notre Dame Bowl game? You do, JaMarcus Russell, big arm,
JaMarcus coming out throwing bombs. I looked up the box score.
You guys aren't gonna believe this. He was throwing bombs
to Dwayne Bow remember him, and for future NFL receiver.

(09:50):
JaMarcus Russell looked incredible. Oh look at that arm. Three yards,
two touchdowns. Book it. Let's put JaMarcus Russell first in
the draft. Bowl games don't matter. JaMarcus Russell was a
colossal bust, colossal Bowl games don't matter, don't read too

(10:12):
much into them. And finally, a guy near and dear
to our producer's heart, Derek Carr. I'll never forget this
game ever, because people have been telling me, Man, keep
an eye on this Derek Carr guy at Fresno. He's good.
And at the time I was texting Colin Cowherd during
the game, are you watching Derek Carr against USC Man?

(10:35):
This guy does not look good. He had Davante Adams.
He was throwing the Davante Adams, the former Green Bay
or the current Green Bay Packer, and Derek card Fresdo.
I hadn't seen much of him, and I'm watching this
bull game and I'm like, jeez, he's not He's not
throwing darts at two hundred yards like a couple of
I think a couple of picks. He just didn't look sharp.

(10:56):
This guy is gonna be a franchise quarterback in the NFL.
And um, how there how Derek car translate in the NFL?
Oh okay, yeah, I started slow. By year two thirty
two tv S thirteen interceptions. Year three Derek Carr, who
looked bad in his final Bowl game, and myself included
at the time it was a mistake on my part.

(11:17):
You know, we all wanted to trash him. Year three
in the NFL, Derek Carr t d S six interceptions
the Raiders. We're going to the playoffs, and then he
breaks his leg in this season kind of fell apart there.
That regretted a little bit. In year four, again, I'm
not going to dive into it. Fit is everything. The
Raiders bungled things, got rid of their offensive coordinator, and

(11:39):
after an amazing season, which idiotic to do, Car regressed
a little. The point is, don't read too much into
bowl games. Sam Donald is going to be fine. He's
gonna be exceptional. I mean, unless he goes to Cleveland
in its case, No, I'm kidding, I'm kidd Listen. If

(12:02):
I cannot stress it enough, and again, I'll open the
phone lines. I don't know how many calls I'm gonna
take from you, Bronis today eight seven, seven, nine, six,
three six nine. Again, I've seen absolutely nothing in Sam
Donald that worries me. This guy is going to be
a stud in the NFL. You could take that to

(12:22):
the bank, folks. So we have a great show today,
A little, a little Lebron James. We've got Peter King
coming up in fifteen minutes. Um, I'm I'm not gonna
only talk to him about the Jets, but they will
be discussed. Uh So, we got Peter Kid, we got
two former NFL quarterbacks coming on the show today. We've
got NFL picks. I'm gonna give out my bulllocks. If

(12:44):
you've been following my bullpicks, they've been quite good. But
coming up next year on the Big League Fox Sports Radio.
There is no such thing as loyalty in sports. That's next.
I forgot wish one of the best players in the
NBA a happy birthday today. Lebron James turns thirty three.

(13:09):
Nice timing on that, Sam Listen, you guys know I
love Lebron. Um I have some bad news for him
later in the show, unfortunately that that's coming up in
about forty minutes. But happy birthday, Lebron. You know I
love your work. What does it mean when Geico says
just fifteen minutes could save you fift or more on
car insurance? It means you probably should have gone to

(13:31):
Geico dot Com fifteen minutes ago. You know, producer Rob
and NFL Honk. He just loves NFL, but he really
really likes NBA, and he just came in and dropped
a good Lakers nugget on me. See, that's one of
the problems with December. Between the holidays, Christmas, New Year's,

(13:51):
hanging out with family watching some of these crummy Bowl
games that don't mean anything, watching NFL games. NBA kind
of slipped through the cracks with the except show of
the Christmas Day games. So something's going on with the
Lakers that we're gonna have to save for either later
in the show or next week. But I just made
a note to myself, it's that good that we're gonna
bring it back next week. Um. But Peter King's coming

(14:16):
up in nine minutes here, we're gonna get to the NFL.
I will ask him about Sam Donald, and I'm sure
Peter King is going to agree with me, Sam Donald
should leave USC now now and go to the NFL.
Speaking of the NFL, you guys followed that James Harrison's

(14:38):
story right. Pittsburgh Steelers All Times sack leader James Harrison um,
interesting stuff happening between Pittsburgh and New England. But I've
got a start here with the story. Around the holidays
every year for some reason, maybe it's because, like you know,
when you're around the holidays, you're hanging with the family

(15:00):
and you have all these memories of childhood and what
have you. I would always remember my grandma around the holidays,
would like find her alone time, and she would be
watching these like black and white movies. So around the holidays,
for some reason, I'll turn to the old movie channel
and take in like nineteen forties or fifties movies. It's
just like a thing I do around the holidays. I

(15:20):
don't understand why, but you know, instead of watching, uh,
you know, Game thirties seven on the NBA schedule, or
or or the the El Paso Bowl, I'll check out
some Carrie Grant movie on Turner Classic Movies because my
grandma did. And I'll also pick up some old reading.
So this week I picked up this book Ulysses. You

(15:40):
guys may know it well, Demes. It deals with some
larger themes in life. Is it the journey or the destination?
Which matters more? And I bring up journey versus destination.
Because of the James Harrison situation, there's a that's a
beautiful tie in. Okay, that's an excellent not to pump
up my own tie in. But I believe the journey

(16:02):
is actually more important than the destination. And James Harrison's
journey to the NFL has been incredible. Undrafted out of
Kent State, he was cut multiple times by the Steelers.
He was like on the practice squad, he tried NFL Europe.
This guy could do nothing to get into the NFL.
His journey was brutal. After NFL Europe, he like had

(16:26):
a cup of coffee with the Ravens practice squad and
then tries the Steelers again. And I think in an
interview he actually said, listen, man, I'm not making the NFL.
And James Harrison said, if it doesn't work out now,
I'm gonna go back to being a veterinarian, which is
what I wanted to do. I don't know if you
could imagine James Harrison. Uh, it's one of the toughest, meanest,

(16:47):
scariest veterinarians ever. But that's what he was gonna do.
But as you know, in life, things happen a player
gets injured, James Harrison gets his shot boom. Ten years later.
James Harrison, he he's one of the best linebackers in
the storied franchise of the Steelers. I mean, you named
Jack Ham and Greg Lloyd, Joey Porter, and James Harrison's

(17:12):
right there, and all of a sudden, James Harrison, his
journey just took a shocking detour when they cut him
two days before Christmas. It feels wrong and it feels weird.
The Patriots angle to this is phenomenal, and I've got
that for you in two minutes. But I the Pittsburgh
angles weird because I know this isn't gonna come off good.

(17:32):
But I kind of blame Mike Tomlin for what happened
to James Harrison. I think Mike Tomlin was so loyal
he wanted James Harrison to hang around provide leadership. He's
thirty nine. The environment has to be right in Pittsburgh

(17:54):
for these young guys, these young cocky, arrogant Levian Bell
and Tonio round T. J. Watt is a very nice
young player. Bud Dupree is a sack machine coming off
the edge. The environment has to be right or there's
no development for the young guys, and that's kind of

(18:15):
what Harrison was supposed to bring. But the problem is
Harrison told him from the jump, guys, I'm not here
to collect a paycheck and bade no babysitter. James Harrison
wanted to play. We wanted to get at the quarterback
and Mike Tomlin, Yeah, I have a love hate relationship
with Mike Tomlin. Tomlin kind of strung him along and

(18:35):
strung him along, and all of a sudden, James Harrison
starting to fall asleep in meetings and he's no showing
and practice and he's walking off the field when he's inactive,
and I can kind of understand where he's coming from.
Where's the loyalty, Mike Tomlin? Where's the loyalty to this guy?

(18:56):
Who excuse me, who really blew up when things got good?
H It feels like Tomlin kind of butchered that. Now, Rob,
you're you're a tight NFL guy, you follow everything. Do
you feel that this was a a loyalty issue in Pittsburgh?

(19:18):
You know what? You mentioned it to me, you know,
off the air, and and part of me wanted to
agree with you, but you know what, I just don't
see it that way. I see it as um a
team that had a pass rusher, a veteran pass rusher
in their back pocket. They wanted to hold him in
case they needed him. You know, the way their season
went this year, you know, they obviously felt that the

(19:40):
younger guys give him a better chance to win. But
you don't just cut bait from a guy who you
think that can help you, even if he wants to play,
even if he wants to if you have him on
your team and you have a break in case of
emergency kind of player, why would you let him go
if you think he can help you. Now, I understand
it's not fair to James Harris in because he wants

(20:00):
to play, and and he's done a lot for their
franchise and and like that, but they don't know. They
don't know. James Harrison can be upfront, going back to
what you said, there's no such thing as loyalty in
sports unless you're the Lakers and Kobe Bryant. There's no
such thing. You're only good to me when the to
the extent that I can use you. And for the Steelers,
it made much more sense for them to have that

(20:22):
fourth or fifth pass rusher coming off the bench in
an emergency situation than anything else. So here's my Patriots angle.
I think you guys are like this. What have we
been talking about with the Patriots the last two weeks?
Tom Brady interception machine, first time in fifteen years. Brady
has gone five straight games of the pick. What's going

(20:43):
on with Belichick and Brady's trainer, the spiritual Guru? Is
their dissension in New England? Jimmy Garoppolo, Oh my gosh,
he is very good. Did Bill Belichick make the wrong decision?
It's been two straight weeks of negativity in New England
and all of a sudden, what does Bill Belichick do
a little classic misdirection? Oh? Let me grab me from

(21:05):
James Harrison. Have you heard anything in New England at
the last three days other than James Harrison? Nope, No
more trainer stuff, no more Jimmy g stuff, no more
Tom Brady stuff. It's all we got James Harrison. He
changed the narrative with one quick signing. Now I know
they do this often. They love to troll the Jets

(21:27):
and other teams. A stroke of genius from Bill Belichick.
I really liked it. Smart move All right? Coming up
next here on the Big Lead Fox Sports Radio, one
of the most plugged in guys of all the football
the Monday Morning quarterback Peter King joins us to talk
all things NFL. But first, here's Isaac Low and Crown

(21:50):
with the latest and sports. Good morning, Jason. We begin
with college football and the cotton ball. On Friday night
in Arlington, Texas were number five Ohio State convincingly defeated
number eight USC four to seven. Highly touted Trojan quarterbacks
Sam Donald suffered a pick six, two lost fumbles, and
was sacked eight times. So what's next, Sam? Now that

(22:13):
the game is over, what's the process that you'll be
going through recording your future? Yeah, just talking to talking
to my family, Uh, talking to coaches, people who have
been in my position before, and that's kind of how
I go about it. Meanwhile, in the NBA Friday Night,
Janice on teda Coon po if a game winning basket
with point nine to play to give the Bucks a
win at Oklahoma City. There was only one slight problem.

(22:38):
He might have been out of bounds. As captured by
Thunder radio voice Matt Pinto on w w l S
listen Deep on a coupo four seconds cytheric baseline to
the ram lace it up an in nine tenths of
a second? Did he step out of bounds? Didn't he
step out of bounds out a coupo step out of bounds?
He drove baseline with no maneuverability. Why not take a

(23:00):
look at replay here he stepped out about? How do
coopo step out about? Have to replay the replay? Love
that phrase? Replay the replay. Finally, Jason, as you mentioned,
happy thirty third birthday today to Lebron James. This is crazy.
Today is also Tiger woods birthday, he turns forty two today,

(23:21):
and it's also the eighty second birthday of Baseball Hall
of Famer the legendary picture Sandy Kofax. So we've got
Lebron James, Tiger Woods, and Sandy ko Fax, three all
time grades, all born on the same day, December thirty.
Not bad. Who shares do you know who shares like

(23:43):
your birthday? I mean the only guy who shares my
birthday Jason McCauley Culkins. So it's not exactly December, that's
the day to be born. Back to you, thank you?
I uh back here on the Big Lead Fox Sports Radio.
So my one of my new things guys for eighteen

(24:05):
is much much less Twitter, the social media stuff. Man,
I don't know if you've been reading these stories about
how bad Facebook and Twitter and Instagram. They have developed
these algorithms to get in your head and mess with
your head so that you were conditioned to come back
and back and back, and that's just not good. Then

(24:25):
for the long term, they own your head. And I
compared it to fast food. Okay, social media is like
fast food. Fast food is bad for you, but you
keep going to that drive through, you keep eating up
those burgers and those fries, and they're unhealthy by the day.
So less social media for your boy, j mac in

(24:45):
more reading, more listening, more trying to be smarter. And uh,
that's a perfect segue to our next guest, one of
the smartest men in all of football media. I've known
him for a while. I saw him fire off a
tweet about my New York Jets instant. Lee texted and Peter,
you've got to come on the show. Joining us now
from the Monday Morning quarterback, the dean of NFL Sports writers,

(25:06):
Peter King. Peter, good morning, how are you. Good morning, Jason.
How are you. I'm excellent. Uh, Pete. We'll get to
the Jets in a moment. I hope you had a
great Christmas, and I'm excited for your new year. I've
got to start with the biggest story in sports, Sam
Donald of USC. First of all, did you watch any
of the bull game last night? And secondly your thought?
Should he stay or go? Now? I missed it all.

(25:29):
I missed every snap. Uh, but I read this morning
that he didn't exactly knock him dead. Um. Look, I
should he stay or should he go? I think that
depends on the coaching he's gonna get next year. I
thought that Josh McCown made a really really good point
about Jared Goff, and somebody, I guess said to McCown

(25:55):
that that golf wasted his first year in the NFL,
And you know, maybe he did. But the point is
that he had a j V year in the NFL
and he had the ability to sit there and learn
about kind of what not to do and what to

(26:15):
do both at the same time with the two thousand
sixteen rams, and now he gets a really good coach
and look and see what happens. So in my opinion.
I think it depends on a like Mitchell Travisky. I
think in a perfect world, you know, it would have
been better if he played a second year of college football.
To come into the NFL and to be handed the

(26:35):
reins of the Chicago Bears the monsters of the Midway
after playing thirteen college football games, it's a little bit
much to ask. And he looked like he had the
training wheels on for about half of this first year.
And so I'm in favor. Really, unless a guy has
started a lot of college football games, like Russell Wilson,

(26:57):
there's no reason why he can't play right away in
the NFL. He started a jillion games, uh, you know,
at two different schools, and you know, so I think
I think that has something to do with it. But
I think the one other thing is, you know, first
of all, if let's just say that the Cleveland Browns
want to take Sam Donald, and I have no idea

(27:19):
what they want to do. I know that because John
Dorsey told me he's already watched six games. This was
a week or so ago, already watched six games of
Baker Mayfield and loved him. Um, so you know, I
have no idea who's going to take whom. But I
will just say this that I think if you believe

(27:40):
that the coaching you're going to get in college football
is not very good. Uh. And I have absolutely no
idea what Donald thinks of his coaching, but I think
if he thinks that the coaching is not very good,
then there's no reason not to get a start on
his NFL career in two thousand eighteen. It's a great point,
Peter King, the Monday Morning quarterback. Peter, you mentioned the Browns. Uh,

(28:01):
Hugh Jackson appears to be one of the coaches who's
going to survive Black Monday. Uh. Do you really do
you believe they should be bringing them back one win
in two years? Absolutely? Um? I mean I believe that
the Cleveland Browns with Vince Lombardi coaching and Bill Walsh
is his offensive coordinator. Uh and Bill Parcel or Bill

(28:24):
Belichick is his defensive coordinator, they might have found a
way to win four or five games. You're not winning
in the NFL period without good quarterback play. Look, the
New York Jets probably should have won one or two
games this year, but they got good quarterback play when
he played overall from Josh McCown. A good quarterback gives
you a chance in the NFL. And look, I don't

(28:47):
know whether Deshaun Kaiser is going to have a future
uh in the NFL or not, but the times I
watched him this year, he absolutely was not ready to
be a starting NFL quarterback. They just had nobody else.
So my feeling is, let's let's give the guy a chance.
And and look, Jason, I don't say this blindly, Okay,

(29:07):
So I know Joe Thomas pretty well, and I I've
I've asked him and I asked him again about two
weeks ago. All Right, Joe tell me should uh should
this guy stay? And I've had frank discussions with Joe
Thomas a lot of times in his career about the
about his franchise, and he was unequivocal that that Hugh

(29:29):
Jackson should stay. And I'm just telling you that over time,
he hasn't always been is unequivocal about what's going on
with his team. So all I'm saying is that I
think the players on his team like him. I know
that the coaches on his staff, and I can tell
you this for a fact, the coaches on his staff
believe that he still has the locker room. Uh, and

(29:52):
they have respect for him. So look, if they fire him,
it'll just be another reason to not trust Jimmy Haslum.
Because Jimmy Haslem said he's absolutely coming back. I take
him at his word. If for some reason he fires him,
I mean, it's just, you know, the Cleveland Browns just
simply cannot take the heat of of poor football. And

(30:16):
and again I just will say this, it's it's why
I believe the Giants made a major mistake in the
month of December in continuing to trot Eli Manning out
with a JV team. Uh, just why why do you
do that when you're two and nine? Why do you
keep playing a guy who's going to be thirty seven
years old next year and you have a bright prospect

(30:38):
on your team who you should want to see before
you pick Rosen or Donald or Mayfield somebody high in
the first round next That's a great point. Peter. We're
talking with Peter King Monday one and Quarterback. So you
guys have been doing great journalism lately, Peter. I read
a story by a young woman who talked about the
NFL kind of the ratings situation, The league. That was it.

(31:00):
It was an interesting story. A lot of stuff we've
covered before, and I just I gotta ask you, Peter,
when you look at this past season, whether it was protests, ratings,
advertising money, all this stuff that adds up. Maybe it's
just the climate in sports. You know. Movie uh, movies
are down. TV ratings for normal shows are down. Maybe
everything is down and that's the new normal. Does the

(31:22):
NFL need to make any major changes, whether it's hey,
forget Thursday night football, Hey, let's punt on this London stuff.
Do they need to make major changes or was this
just a blip on the on the line of the NFL.
I don't think it's a blip at all, But I
don't think necessarily they need to cut out either Thursday
or London. Um Look, Network primetime television ratings this year

(31:46):
are down seven NFL ratings are down nine percent, and
so I don't know whether that is going to be
a permanent thing or not. But the story of referenced
by Kaylin Kaylor I thought was brilliant because what she
did is she went and found all of the people

(32:07):
in the United States. She found a representative person to
represent all the people who for instance, go to Reddit
every Sunday at one o'clock Eastern and stream the game
of their choice for free because Reddit has figured out
how to stream games and not have the NFL shut

(32:27):
them down. Uh. They also she also found people who, yes,
who are upset because of the protests. She found people
who are upset because the NFL uh is too violent. Um.
And she also found people who basically have figured out
either through Hulu, Apple TV, uh you know, or taking

(32:50):
you know, somebody else's uh you know, Direct TV password
and code. You know. She's found a lot of people
who are who are who can find a way to
watch the games for free. And I'll just say this, Jason,
I think it's incumbent on the NFL. Yeah, of course,
you've got to worry about all the things, the national anthem,

(33:12):
you gotta worry about all these things. But I believe
that what has happened this year shows me and all
of these people who are watching the NFL in a
different way and it isn't registering on the ratings. I
think what the NFL is going to have to do
when they negotiate the next TV contract is, for the

(33:32):
first time in our lifetime, uh, make some of the
games not available on free TV to make some of
the games streaming only because you know, the NFL is
going to be in a position pretty soon where it's
going to be if you can't beat them, join them.
Huh wow, now that that I didn't see that one coming, Peter, Well,

(33:55):
here's my first question that why don't they just open
it up so you can watch whatever game you want.
That's a great point a lot of these fans. If
you read what these fans are saying, you know, they're
not going to pay you know, whatever it is two
and fifty dollars a year for direct TV, uh, you know,
for the NFL package. They're not going to pay these

(34:16):
exorbitant costs and basically fund ESPNS existence anymore by paying
them six seventy five a month on their cable bill.
They're not going to do that anymore. So what they
want is they want an ala carte uh menu to
you know, for their cable People have been talking about
it for years, Jason, and in my opinion, cable TV

(34:39):
is going to be in gigantic trouble if they do
not allow people to pick and choose. You know, why
should you get why should I have I think I
have maybe I don't know, two channels here in my
house in New York City on Verizon Files. Why should
I have the Hallmark channel? And I could name I
could name a hundred and fifty channels that I've never

(35:03):
never watched, I never will watch. So why do I
get them? Tell me that yet you cannot get an
I mean, yeah, that's right. So in other words, if
I live in New York, Okay, and I you know,
a lot of days, a lot of Sundays, I'll just
watch Red Zone. Um, unless there's a game that I

(35:23):
absolutely want to watch, like tomorrow at one o'clock, there's
not a lot of there's not really much to watch.
Four four window is is a lot more populated with
games to watch. But at one o'clock, I know, all
I'm gonna do is I have a Red Zone on
for three hours and and and and again. Look here,
here's one other point to consider the NFL. Really, in

(35:47):
my opinion, about nine fifty thousand people per week watch
the Red Zone, and the NFL knows that. But right now,
because most of the red Zone, as you know, is
add free, which is wonderful, most of the red Zone
now their numbers don't count on NFL ratings and so

(36:09):
and so right now, I think the NFL should basically say, Okay,
look we're down nine percent in ratings, but really and
we have about whatever the number is, fifteen to sixteen
million people a week watching our games on average. Why
shouldn't that be a million more added in with red stuff?
Definitely should be. And I think the one other thing
I would say is I think, and again, everybody's gonna

(36:32):
hate me for saying this, because red zone is so wonderful,
But honestly, there's really no reason why it isn't more
populated with advertising. Let me get one more question and
Peter real quick about my Jets New York Jets. I
did not agree with the decision to extend Balls for
two years. I haven't seen anything that they've done. I
don't know that I trust him and the GM to
bring in a quarterback and develop him. He's a Balls

(36:53):
is a great defensive coach, but developing a quarterback, I
don't know. Why did they make this move? Is it
because Arizona want them? I arians walks away. Um, I
think there was there would have been some interest there.
I think Arizona might be interested in Chris Peterson, also
of Washington. Uh wow, but I mean that's that's on
the coaching grape vine. But but again, I don't know

(37:16):
what Arizona is gonna do. I really don't. But I
think this was more about the Jets saying, you know what,
we're tired of of being one of the franchises in
the league that constantly shakes it up, throws it away,
and starts over Jason. Since Bill Belichick became the coach
of the New England Patriots, the other three teams in

(37:38):
the a f C East have had twenty four head coaches,
and so the Jets are basically saying, hey, everybody, you know,
whatever you think, all you free agents, you might want
to come here. All the guys in here, Mohammed Wilkerson,
you've acted done nothing significant for the last two years
basically except act up. You know, you got to know

(37:58):
that this is our guy. We're behind. But the one
thing you just said, Jason, that's absolutely true. I worry
about their ability to pick a quarterback. This is a
team that picked Christian Hackenburg with the fifty first pick
in the two thousand sixteen draft, and in thirty one
games he's never entered a football game. It's inexcusable to

(38:19):
waste a second round pick like that. So I better
know that this year they're gonna be able to figure
out a way. Whether it's Baker Mayfield, wherever they pick,
I don't know. Eight ten. They better be able to
get somebody this year because they get one more shot,
and that's going to be it. All right, Peter King,
we gotta go. Thank you very much, Peter King, Monday
Morning Quarterback. Amazing stuff. Have a great new year, Peter, Sure,

(38:41):
thanks a lot. Jason coming up next year on the
Big Lead Fox Sports Radio. Des Bryant don't want to
take a pay cut. You better put your house on
the market, kid, You're done. That's amazing stuff from Peter King.
It's funny. I We're gonna put that up on the
Fox Sports A website. I'll I'll probably right it up

(39:01):
on the Big Lead later today. Just because Peter King
always brings some interesting stuff. I I thought the most
fascinating thing was he he said, Arizona wants Chris Peterson. Now,
remember USC and U c l A were fighting over
having Chris Peterson a couple of years ago. He kept passing.
He left Boise. He went to Washington. They went to
the playoff last year. They're in a bull game. I

(39:23):
think is it today? Oh? They play Penn State today.
Pactol has been getting beat up. I think the House
House say Kwon Barkley and Penn State. Um, they're one
of my picks. Later, but great stuff, Peter King, thank you,
and more great news. There's a quick way you could
save money. Switched to Geico. Go to Geico dot com

(39:44):
and in fifteen minutes you could save fift or more
on car insurance. Talking Lebron here in seven minutes. You
want to strap in for this one. Uh, it's funny.
I talked a little bit about Lebron Thursday and when
in to work at FS one and somebody hit me
with Jason. I was really impressive. I hadn't heard anybody

(40:04):
say that. I said, all right, I'm gonna refine it
bringing out Saturday. Probably try it out next week on
FS one. So Lebron here in seven minutes. The first
some quick news for des Brian and I don't need
to go too deep into this. Des Bryan says he
won't take a pay cut, Bro, you might not have
a choice. If Jerry Jones has half a brain. That
billionaire needs to say, Yo, take the pay cut, or

(40:25):
we're shipping you out of town. Cleveland needs a receiver.
Give me a fourth round pick, Cleveland, I'll give you
den Bryant a lot of bad teams with cap room. Hey,
san Fran, you want this headache. I don't need this nonsense.
You're complaining to Dak Prescott about getting the ball. Des Bryant,
check yourself. You are not very good anymore. Twenty two

(40:46):
straight regular season games under a hundred yards, des Bryant,
get out. Coming up next year on Fox Sports Radio,
Lebra Welcome back to the Big Lead on Fox Sports Radio,
Ladies and gentlemen, I am your host, Jason McIntyre, coming
to you live from sunny Los Angeles and the Geico
Fox Sports Radio Studios. Fifteen minutes could save you or

(41:10):
more on car insurance. Visit Geico dot com for a
free rate quote. I hope everybody had a merry Christmas.
I've been doing way too much radio this week. You
know what the young guys trying to do right holiday weeks.
Let me fill in, let me do, let me get
some more airtime, let me get some more reps. So
I've been all over Fox Sports Radio this week having

(41:32):
a lot of fun here. I wonder if the executives
are listening. I've been a little dangerous. That's what I
like to do around here. Not dangerous like Sam Donald. No,
not at all. Sam Donald as harmless. He is not
any good. Sam Donald should stay at USC, stick around
with that bad coaching staff. Get out of town, folks.

(41:52):
I'm joking. Of course, Sam Donald needs to say thank
you USC for your time. I'm gonna take my twenty
and four record. I'm gonna go to the NFL. I'm
gonna be an early round pick. I'm gonna make millions
of dollars, and I'm going to thrive as an NFL
quarterback because there is no debate, none whatsoever. Sam Donald

(42:12):
sticking around USC would be a mistake. The scrutiny of
every pass, every interception, folks, do you realize this? We
We've got a U. C. L. A. Homer here in
the studio, the producer of the show. I haven't given
him a chance to chime in, But when you think
about this for a second, Josh Rosen has not played
football in over a month. He has sat out with

(42:36):
an injury a concussion, whatever you want to call it.
He is in. He is totally in the clubhouse, just chilling.
Feed up. Hey, no, no more tape on me. You've
got it, You've seen me. What do I need to
play for? Any more? Tape on these quarterbacks hurts them.
It does not help. Sticking around does not help. Go

(43:00):
ask Matt Leonard, Go ask Matt Barkley. Josh Rosen's final
game that anybody remembers was against USC He played well,
Josh Rosen was was a good, good quarterback in that game. Now,
of course, what the uh hot take artists on social
media will tell you as wait a minute, Wait a minute,
wait a minute, Josh Rosen is better than Sam Donald.

(43:21):
And I'll say, okay, that's fine to think that. You
could have me draft a hundred times and I would
take Donald a hundred times out of a hundred over Rosen.
Nobody mentions this, but the big, strapping quarterbacks less prone
to injury. Now, I don't have any science to back
that up. Tell me Rob, how many injuries slash concussions

(43:42):
had Josh Rosen had in the last two years at
u C. L ah Well, he had one shoulder injury
last year he's got two concussions this year and he's
been generally nicked up. Yes he has. I listen. I
like Josh Rosen a lot. I'm telling nobody's talking about
that because he's not playing and there's no tape to
dismember him. Folks, just remember, I remember your boy Jason

(44:07):
is saying this. I saw that Bowl game with JaMarcus
Russell where he killed Notre Dame three hundred yards to
t DS, big arm, number one pick. I saw that
bowl game or Mr Derek Carr froze deer in the
headlights Fresno State against USC. Now, not a kid can't
draft that guy. He's not a big time quarterback. Derek
Carr looked fine last year two years ago, thirty two

(44:29):
t d S, thirteen picks. Derek Car's a star. Little
regression this year. JaMarcus Russell is out somewhere popping that
purple dank or whatever it is. He's out of the league.
He's washed out thirty million dollars or whatever the signing
bonus was. So don't tell me these Bowl games matter.
Now on two bigger issues like my man Lebron James

(44:51):
that be birthday, Nick, Do we have any happy birthday?
Do we have any happy birthday like? Bells and whistles
for Lebron? Do we have anything? Come on, Nick, get
on the case. Lebron thirty three years old. Lebron, by
the way, one of my favorite players all time. I'll be,
you know, very hard on Lebron at times, but I

(45:12):
always will let you know when Lebron is killing it,
and he often does. Lebron no doubt, uh for me,
he's one b Yeah, there we go, a little happy
birthday Lebron. Drink some more red wine, Lebron. You guys
in reading that Lebron's rinking red wine every day, I

(45:35):
think like that's the secret to his um thirty three
year old body still looking like a year old. It's
crazy how good is shaped. Lebron's all right, Nick, we
can cut the happy birthday now. Um so here here's
my theory on Lebron. He's had a rough week, right
turning thirty three Christmas Day? Whatever happened at the end

(45:58):
of the uh Golden State game. By the way, Nick,
your quick ten second thoughts, was Lebron fouled on those
drives to the basket didn't matter? Yes he was fouled. Yes, listen, man,
you can call holding on every single play in the NFL.
All right. Of course Lebron got touched. It happens. But

(46:20):
this is where it gets interesting. So you guys know
the usual suspects that movie where um, Kevin space Oh
I can't, I can I give a spoiler to a
twenty five year old movie. Yeah, that's fine. So Kevin
Spacey sits in the police station and lies the whole
time about Kaiser. So say they all eat it up.
And then at the end of the movie, Chad's paulment Terry,

(46:40):
the cop steps back, looks at the bulletin board in
his office, and then it hits him. Sometimes you have
to step back to get a full picture. So I
step back. This week, I saw Lebron complaining on Christmas Day.
Two days later in Sacramento, Lebron standing or front of
the media, shirtless, looking like an Adonis, like his body

(47:03):
was chiseled from granite, and Lebron still complaining about the officials. Dude, Lebron,
come up. Wait, okay, step back, Jay, step back. All right,
I'm not in the weeds. I'm not doing day to
day reports on Isaiah Thomas working out in the layup
line with the Calves or with the G League team
in Acron or whatever. Okay, I'm able to step back

(47:27):
and look at the board and what I see his
Lebron is scared of the Golden State Warriors. They are
in his head, folks. Lebron has lost six of seven
to the Warriors. He's a six of seven. He refuses
to talk about them. Lebron refuses to say there's a

(47:48):
rivalry with Golden State. Doesn't put him on his level.
He's on the I'm competing with Michael Jordan and the
ghosts of blah blah. He don't talk about the Warriors,
never talks about them. They've on six of seven from
Lebron and guess who he doesn't have to bail him
out anymore. Kyrie Irving, who took over Christmas final minute

(48:13):
Warriors Calves first game, Kyrie Irving took over, scored the
four final four points, including the game winner over Clay Thompson,
had an incredible shot. Kyrie Irving took over in that
one game seven? Who took over pre Kevin Durant Kyrie
Irving three pointer, final minute. No more, Kyrie Irving to

(48:35):
bail you out, so Lebron this Christmas had to try
to win the game. And what happened. What happened, my man?
Kevin Durant, best player in the NBA. I want Lebron
checked him, locked him up, blocked his shot, forced two turnovers.
Maybe fould if you want to say, fouldom Nick, that's fine.
Whatever Warriors won. Kevin Durant, lockdown Lebron. I think I

(48:59):
think Braun right now is scared of the Warriors. I
know you say Lebrons that scared of anybody. Okay, quick
question the one finals game that the Calves won. Kyrie
Irving at forty, I know Lebron's posted triple doubles. That's fine.
Stack those triple doubles, Lebron, stack them. Russell Westbrook had
a triple double average of triple double last year. Couldn't

(49:20):
get out of the first round. You need clutch to
beat these Warriors, Kyrie Irving, clutch no longer there. These
Warriors are in Lebron's head so much he's complaining about
the referee. He knows he cannot beat these guys. Lebron
does not want to call this a rivalry. Folks. At
this stage, they have no chance against the Worrist. They

(49:43):
will get swept in the finals badly. Isaiah Thomas, you're
kidding me. I like Isaiah great story, great in the
Brad Stephen system. All NBA player in the Brad Stephens system.
What's he gonna be in the tylu slash Lebron system.
Imagine Lebron's thought process right now. I say that the

(50:05):
Warriors owners had this. Listen to this. This is how
you need to think Lebron's thinking because he's a student
of the game. The last five years, I looked this up.
The last five years, the Golden State Warriors have drafted
three guys in the second round. Drafted are required second
round who are now rotation guys in their top rotation.

(50:27):
Draymond Green, defensive player of the Year, Patrick McCaw who
was basically starting with Curry out and he gets minutes
he played the finals, good defender. And Jordan Bell, second
round pick they acquired for cash Okay in the draft.
He played more minutes Jordan Bell than Andrea Gudala on Christmas.
I'm telling you, Lebron is a student of the game.
He sees this man. The Warriors got five three guys

(50:53):
in the second round in the last five years? What
are we doing? Uh? So I went to look at
the Calves drafts. Rob there were is no way. I'll
give you five minutes. You or Nick could not guess
the last home grown player the Calves drafted. Who's a factor?
Go ahead, give me a name, Go ahead, don't no

(51:14):
internet surfing? Oh do you cheated? Wow? Good job? What
year did they take him? Two thousand eleven? That's the
last Calves draft pick. Who's a factor. And guess what?
Tristan Thompson was irrelevant to the finals. Steph Curry had
more rebounds than Tristan Thompson. Lebron is a student of
the game. The Warriors are messing with his head. Man,

(51:37):
I'm telling you I feel bad for Lebron. He's chirping
at the refs. He's complaining days later, who is this
Jordan's bell guy? Second round pick. I'm telling you, man,
the Calves right now are not built to keep Lebron.
There's no way he's staying. I know I've been beating
this drum, folks. The thing I love about the war

(52:00):
Warriors thing I love about the Celtics with Brad Stevens,
they trust young players in big spots to take big
shots and play big minutes. That builds confidence in young
players and builds depth. The Cleveland Cavil a few teams
around the league do this. The Warriors and the Celtics

(52:21):
are smart. Lebron is seeing this. I'm telling you he
knows basketball. He has an eye on everybody and what
they're doing. NBA franchises keep making this critical mistake. They
focus on what players cannot do well. He can't shoot threes, well,
he can't defend no. Look at what they can do

(52:44):
and that's why the Warriors and the Celtics are just
miles ahead of everybody else. The Rockets. Come on, I know,
Chris Brush, my guy, if he's listening, he's got a
show later today. Chris, stop talking about the Rockets having
a thirty chance against it as nonsense. This garbage, Chris.

(53:04):
The Warriors went sixteen and one in the playoffs last year,
and you guys are telling me that the thunder are
gonna give him a problem. Geez I. At some point,
Rob and I know you're gonna push back on this.
He's a great producer. We might need to do a
three hour Lebron show. I mean, there's so many layers

(53:27):
I love NFL. I love college football. I love March madness. Um,
I love the NFL Draft. I just this Lebron stuff
fascinated me. I cannot get over how poorly the Calves
have done the last you know, since Lebron came back.
I know you'll say he's the GM. That's fine. There's
no way he's staying none, none, zero, zip zero. I

(53:53):
just I watched them play. They have Listen. I didn't
even mention this. Steph Curry did not play on Christmas.
Lebron had to say, guys, we got him, We're gonna
get him. We gotta no Curry, come on, we got this.
And Kevin Durant locked him up. Kevin Love was fantastic.
Kevin Love, I mean, look good. Um, No, Curry couldn't

(54:13):
beat him. Warriors six of seven wins against the Cats.
Lebron knows what we can't do this Warriors in his head.
I feel bad because I love Lebron. It's his birthday, Lebron.
I'm not taking shots, big f If if I could
have dinner, we should make this a segment Dury next
this summer. If I could have dinner with like any

(54:33):
three current former athletes, whatever, Lebron's on that list. That's
actually a Thanksgiving topic, Jason, Come on, there's too many
things going on Thanks TV. That's a jute July topiciving
Everyone does it on thanks I don't care. I'm not
everybody everybody. I'm not doing that all right? Coming up next? Gosh,
I'm fascinated by Lebron and I'm a fan. Coming up

(54:57):
next more Lebron. No, no, no, okay, I gotta give
out some college for ball winners. A couple of Big
Bull games today, a couple tomorrow, and of course the
playoff games. I've got a lock for you in the
playoff one of the playoff games and the other one
I got an upset special. That's next on the Big
League Fox Sports. Right Man, still steam coming out of
my ears over that Lebron segment. Nick Quick thoughts, Dime

(55:20):
Store thoughts. Is Lebron scared of the Warriors right now?
Did I convince you scared? Isn't the right word? I thought?
I just want to say that. I think, like you
said it, he knows that he can't beat them, So
that's why I think he's going all out. He knows
he can't beat Jordan's and get you know seven titles, right,
he won't even match Jordan at six. So I think

(55:42):
he's going all out get as many m vps as
he can that he still can while he's this great.
But no is he scared of him though? Fair enough.
I got former NFL quarterback Dan Orlovsky coming up here
in about eight minutes. Dude has been doing some interesting
break downs of quarterbacks. We're gonna ask him about Sam
Donald or Lossky played. Looks like fourteen years in the NFL. Man, Listen, hey,

(56:08):
you can carve out a real nice career playing for
the Lions, Texans, Colt Books, Lions again. Yeah, it looks
like actually eleven years in the NFL. So we'll talk
to him in about eight minutes. Great news. There's a
quick way you could save money. Switched to Geico. Go
to Geico dot com and in fifteen minutes you could
save or more on car insurance. Let me get some

(56:33):
bull picks at it. Should we take this? How's this
call about Lebron? All right, let's take this call about Lebron.
Dave in the Indianapolis. You've got some thoughts on Lebron.
The floor is yours. Hey, how are you? Man? I
hope you have this Christmas. But before the whole Lebron thing, Man,
how's your Sam Donald Sandboys things going? And anybody who

(56:53):
comes on here and acts like he's the top five pick,
just let them know there's probably thousands of people laughing off. Okay,
And here's the thing about Lebron. He might not he
might not be scared of Golden State, but deep down
he knows he can't beat him. He just like deep
down he knows he can't beat Greg proposition the first listen.

(57:13):
Of course, Lebron's gonna leave Cleveland. He's just gonna go
to the next you know, two or three players in
the top five keen of the NBA so they can
carry him to get him to the finals. I mean,
when anybody looks at Lebron the court, is anybody ever
really scared at the dude or she feels intimidated? I
mean the dude like the girl in high school that
that's the jersey taste, so that that date's every you know,

(57:33):
player of the week in high school. I mean, listen, man,
I'm so tired of people coming out here talking about Lebron. Oh,
he's one of the greatest of all time. Yeah, he's
the greatest athlete of all time? Is he a top
five player? No, Wow, Tim Duncan or Kobe Bryant. He's
not even better than Shack. He's not even better than
Russell or Magic or Bird or Mike or Krenne. I mean,

(57:55):
I would argue he's not even better in the keen
lodging wants when we talk all Lebron's just let me
ask you, guys a simple question. Honestly, how many Hall
of Famers or top fifteen players talent wise has Lebron
play with just to get a ring? Okay, when you
let the guys like Kobe, he could shack off this team.
When you look at guys like Mike, besides Scotty, he

(58:15):
played a bunch of white boys. I mean listening, like,
you can name off legends that stopped the winning rings
that didn't even you know, women champion ship or get
to the finals because of Mike. All right, Okay, Dave, Dave, Dave,
Dave settled out. All right, I know you're fired up, Dave,
thank you for the call. Good stuff. Let me just
say I love how he's gonna play with other players
and get to the finals. Lebron has been to the finals.

(58:36):
What seven years in a row, seez dave listen, informed listener,
he knows his stuff. It just sounds like very anti Lebron.
I'm assuming those two Uh, there's two times that he
got the Pacers in the Eastern Conference playoffs. Really set
dave Off might have found the biggest Lebron hater else
he's like he barely had Lebron top ten if unfairly

(59:00):
top tad. All right, let me give out some winners
in the college football ball games. All right, ready, Washington
to Penn State. I know the PAC twelve has been bad.
I kind of broke it down earlier. Listen one and
seven in bowl games when Josh Rosen didn't play, Luke
Fawk didn't play, Um Bryce Love got hurt. Oregon was

(59:22):
going through a coaching search. Like, come on, don't read
too much into it. I love Washington plus two against
Penn State Huskies, number one run defense in the country.
Go ahead and let Trace McSorley try to beat you. Okay,
he's not great. I love say Kwon Barkley. I kind
of wish he wouldn't play. I don't want it to
get hurt, big fan. Washington plus two is a winner.
Now L s U Notre Dame is really fascinating. I

(59:44):
don't know if you guys saw this. Two Notre Dame
players arrested, like one of their leading receivers and then
another guy like listen. I mentioned the idle time is
not good this month off, Uh, Notre Dame, you get
two guys arrested, but L s U. Listen, Their start
running back Darius Guys is trying not to play because

(01:00:05):
of the NFL arden key. Their best defender not playing
NFL L s U players. Something's going on there. Did
you guys see this story? Their offensive coordinators leaving. Apparently
there's this big issue in the h among the coaches
and it's getting ugly. I'm actually leaning Notre Dame here.
I will say this. I've been wrong about every do

(01:00:26):
to day. When I pick against him, they cover. When
I pick them they don't. So who knows, but I'm
going with Notre Dame plus three and a half. And lastly,
before I get to the playoff games, the biggest bet
I have this bull season is Michigan favored by eight
against South Carolina. That is a put a mortgage payment
on Michigan. South Carolina is a disaster, one of the

(01:00:49):
worst offenses in the SEC, and they're gonna move the
ball against Jim Harbaugh. Jim Harball having something to prove
after this bad eight and fourth season. I know Michigan's
quarterback play a spot. Michigan's four losses by the way
to Michigan State won their bowl game, Penn State in
a big time bowl game. Uh. They lost to Wisconsin

(01:01:09):
in a big time bowl game, and Ohio State, which
is throttled USC. So I'm telling you Michigan did not
on paper. Eight and four doesn't look good. But I'm
telling you right now, Michigan's gonna blow out South Carolina,
just destroy them. This feels like thirty one to six. Uh.
Now they playoff games. Georgia favored by two against Oklahoma.

(01:01:34):
Just so you know. The line opened Oklahoma favored by one,
Oklahoma open favored, and it flipped to Georgia. Gotta take
Georgia here. Bulldogs are gonna dominate the line of scrimmage.
I like Nick Chubb and Sonny Michelle to run wild.
A couple of fun facts. Oklahoma's run defense has given
up over two d yards four times this year. They

(01:01:57):
can't stop the run Georgia will run, dominate the line
a scrimmage, keep the ball away from Baker Mayfield. Looks
like Baker Mayfield, the big illness that he had. He's
just showed up at the podium. He's giving some live
interviews right now. Uh. If he says anything important, which
he won't, they never do, We'll have it later for you.
I like Georgia favorite by two, and then my upset
special Clemson. I can't believe they're dogs here, Okay, Nick Saban, listen.

(01:02:24):
The sad fact is Nick Saban has not been great.
Can I say that? Owen four Alabama against the spread
the last four opponent games against teams with winning records?
Oh four, It's not very good lately. Uh. They are two.
They've only covered two of their last seven games, and

(01:02:44):
Clemson seven or no against the spread in their last
seven bowl games. I love Clemson here. Three defenders on
their defensive line are good in the NFL next year.
The only reason I give pause, and this is a
fact nobody else is saying. The last two years, Nick
Saban only had one week to prepare for Deshaun Watson. Remember,
they win their playoff game, go to the championship, only

(01:03:04):
one week and Deshaun Watson killed him. He's got a
month to prepare for Kelly Bryant, who's no Deshaun Watson.
Kelly Brown is good. So I think it's kind of close,
but I gotta go with Clemson again. I'm picking the Tigers.
I love Dabbo Sweeney. I'm upset that the Jets won't
get him, but I'm going with Clemson. So here are
my picks. Clemson and Georgia to meet in the title game.

(01:03:27):
I'm I'm going with Washington and and UH and Notre
Dame reluctantly, but the big play is on Michigan. Michigan
to blow out South Carolina. Those are your picks. Coming
up next year, We're gonna talk a former NFL quarterback
Dan Orlovsky. We're gonna get into Sam Donald, You're gonna
get into Nick Foles and the Eagles. But first Isaac

(01:03:47):
Lowenkrown with the latest in sports, Jason Indeed. As we speak,
Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield is addressing the media for the
first time since the Sooners arrived in southern California for
Monday's Rose bull Some Final against Georgia. Mayfield is sick
his voice sounds raspy. Sooner's head coach Lincoln Riley had
details just a short time ago. He was pretty sick

(01:04:11):
on the trip out and uh got a little worse
there for a couple of days and hopefully starting to
level off. Now, you know, will he be physically, We'll see,
but but he'll he's not gonna miss this one. Speaking
of sick, last night, it was USC fans who were
sick because the number eight Trojans were trounced in the
Cotton Bowl by fifth ranked Ohio State to seven highly

(01:04:34):
touted Trojan quarterbacks. Sam Donald suffered a pick six, lost
two fumbles, and was sacked eight times. So what's next, Sam?
Now that the game is over, what's the process that
you'll be going through recording your future? Yeah, just talking
to talking to my family, Uh, talking to coaches, people
who have been in my position before, and that's kind

(01:04:54):
of how I go about it. Jason, will hear a
little bit from Baker Mayfield a little later on, but
you're exactly right. He really did not say anything of substance.
I think the most notable thing was the raspy sound
of his voice. How bad? How bad was it? I?
I wasn't listening. You know. It was raspy, but not terrible.
I mean some people actually sound better with a raspy voice,

(01:05:17):
but actually Mayfield didn't. Huh, well, well, here for from you.
Later on, he he also had a hot beverage with him.
No word yet on whether it was coffee or tea.
When when is the Isaac? When is the game? What
do we have? Forty eight hours or seventy two? It
is Monday, Monday, Monday, Monday. So all right, thank you, Isaac.
Back here on the Big Lead Fox Sports Radio. I'm

(01:05:40):
your host, Jason McIntyre, coming to you live from the
Geico Fox Sports Radio studios out here in sunny Los Angeles.
It's been a fun show so far. And our next guest,
he's kind of one of these guys we like to
find dudes who are kind of below the radar. Haven't
blown up yet. We we've hit on t A in gambling.

(01:06:00):
He is gonna place in the super contest. And our
next guest, my producer Rob has been given him a
hard sell for a little while and I started to
dig into his little social media stuff and this guy,
he knows his stuff. Welcome in, dan Orlovsky the former
NFL quarterback, played for several teams, spent what Dan about
eleven years in the NFL? Twelve years in the NFL.

(01:06:24):
Welcome to the show, Dan, good morning. You're in Balmy, Connecticut.
What is it like twelve degrees there? Yeah, it's it's cooled.
It's it's snowing as we speak for about four inches
now and tomorrow's high as six degrees, just like what
you're going through in l A right now. Hopefully you
won't lose power. You'll be able to watch all the
bull games. Dan, let me dive right in. Did you
watch Sam Donald last night? And I need your thoughts

(01:06:46):
on on his performance, just so you know I'm very
pro Sam Donald, but feel free to go against him. Yeah,
I did watch. I was super intrigued because obviously the
chatter of the first pick and him and Rosen in
all those aspects. What did I think he played? Kind
of how I expected him to play. I think he
displayed all the skills that are that everyone raves about

(01:07:09):
and that you want in an NFL franchise quarterback. But
I wasn't necessarily surprised at the outcome. And it's because again,
his offensive line was abused by o how the State's
defensive line, and he still is young. I think, like
I said, he's got a great, great skill set. But
now I put this on Twitter last night, kind of
everything he does, even his good plays or his great plays,

(01:07:30):
everything looks just sloppy to me. And that's kind of
what he is right now at whatever age is two
years old. And that stuff is is so easily fixed
with time and experience and good coaching. So the game
kind of went how I thought it would for him personally,
and it doesn't change how I feel about him. I
think he's going to be a really good pro. Yes,

(01:07:51):
So Dan Orlovski, former NFL quarterback, joining us here on
the big lead. So, Dan, you say that stuff is
easily fixed. Is this like an NBA player who's leaving
college and I don't know. Let's take a Lonzo ball.
He has all the intangibles, great court vision, great sides,
great everything is just jumper needs to be fixed. That's
the easiest thing to fix. You're telling me that the

(01:08:13):
fumbles and the uh, the casualness with which he holds
the football in the pocket, that stuff is easily correctable. Absolutely,
because you get what you emphasize, you know, And I
can say this when I my last three years in
the NFL is with the Detroit Lions, and that was
the thing that Matthew Stafford was still had not kind
of mastered as an NFL quarterback. He's still a little

(01:08:35):
loose at the football in the pocket and still one
hand and running around and trying to be too much
of a playmaker at times. And it was a thing
of emphasis for him and our staff. And over the
three years of my time there, he got so much
better at those things. And can Darnald get better at
holding the ball in the pocket? Absolutely? Yeah. How he's

(01:08:55):
gonna get stronger With an NFL weightlifting program and an
NFL strength staff, He's going to develop as he gets
to years old, and naturally it happens, and he'll learn
the importance of the football in the NFL. He'll get it.
For me, it's all about where he goes, who's gonna
be his coach and who's gonna really bring him along,
Because those things can if you emphasize them and you

(01:09:17):
pay attention to them, he'll get better at them. He's
not gonna get better at them at six months at
SC That's gonna make a tangible difference for him. Yeah,
and now that's interesting. I just looked it up. You're right,
Matt Stafford had cut has cut his fumbles. Now, he
did regress a little bit this year. He had nine fumbles,
a career high, but he had regress down to three
the last two years, which you know, I can see

(01:09:40):
that improvement. But Dan, you said, like again, as a
twenty one year old, is there gonna be time or
NFL team is going to be patient um to to
wait for Sam Donald to to get in the weight
room and get better and get the progressive reads done. Yeah,
and that's for me, that's the biggest thing with any
quarterback coming the NFL is who does he go to

(01:10:02):
and who's around him? Because you could take I've said
this before, so many young quarterbacks in the NFL get
ruined more than they are made because it depends on
who they go to and what the staff is around him.
Who's the offensive coordinator, who's their play called, who's their
quarterback coach? What weapons do they have around them? And
for me, it's if you if you're an NFL team

(01:10:25):
and you're doing things the right way and you have
a twelve year vision. What does it matter If this
guy is in your mind completely NFL ready this this
first year, it doesn't matter to me. Will an NFL
team be patient enough? You hope so. And if you're
taking him, you have to understand that now he's not
going to go change your organization the first game of

(01:10:46):
the season in two thousand eighteen if he does come out,
but you hope that if you're patient enough and give
him a year or two of growth, that doesn't mean
he's not gonna be able to play, but year or
two of growth to become the player he can be
and work at the things that he had as his
incredible unique skill set. He can absolutely go be your
pro for a decade. We're talking with Dan Orlovsky, former

(01:11:06):
NFL quarterback, and and Dan, what you just described sounds
exactly like Jared goff right first year with Jeff Fisher.
I mean, geez, so he his kid was a disaster.
He looked like a bust. Everybody's calling him a bust
after four or five games. And then he gets a
new coach. They add Sammy Watkins, they add Robert Woods,
a nice possession receiver, and all of a sudden, Jared goff. WHOA, jeez,

(01:11:28):
he's a he's a top twelve quarterback. Yeah, I mean
very rarely does a quarterback go to a team that
doesn't have talent and or good coaching And is this light,
you know, lighting the world on fireplayer golf is the
exact example. He, like you said, he goes to a
team that didn't have much talent, had had an archaic
offense scheme wise, and everyone writes them off. And then

(01:11:49):
they get some pieces around them. They get a coach
who's really dynamic with his design and play calling, and
all of a sudden he's in the m v P
MVP conversation. And that's why to me, to Sam Donald conversation,
that Josh Rosen conversation, it doesn't matter if they go
back for a year or not. It's all up to them.
But you can't sit there and tell me, well, he's
gotta be the he's gonna be the first pick, and

(01:12:11):
well that's the most important thing. No, no, No, it's
who's gonna be with him along that journey that can
that can take the skill set that he has and
make him the player that you can be. Yeah, I'll
talk with Dan Orlovski, former NFL quarterback Dan let me
get you out of here on this one. Uh. Philadelphia
Eagles quarterback Nick Foles. He's been in the league for

(01:12:31):
a minute now, quarterback under Chip Kelly. I have reservations
about whether or not he can lead the team to
the super Bowl, even though they're the number one seed.
It's almost like I'm hearing much discussion. Hey man, I'd
rather play the Eagles the number one seed than have
to go to Minnesota. Have you seen anything from Nick
Foles cement shoes Folds as I like to call him,

(01:12:53):
that leads you to believe he can take this team
to a super Bowl? Yeah? I think so. I mean,
I agree with I'd rather go to Phillis in Minnesota
because of the defensive differences. But s Fold has had
structors in the NFL where he's been successful. I mean,
two weeks ago he went up to the Giant Stuff
for four touchdowns and everyone was raving about him. Last
week he struggled against the Raiders. My thing with him

(01:13:15):
with this is the thing that lends me to think, yes,
he can lead them to the super Bowl, is because
he still has a really good defense, he still has
a really good run game, and his his offensive staff.
Frank Reich and De Filippo do a really good job
of just using utilizing guys like Earth or Burton Aglare
and spaces where they can be kind of successful and

(01:13:36):
they don't put a ton of pressure on Folds. Right now,
they're not putting a ton of pressure. So as long
as they can stay dynamic and creative with their offense,
I do think he's good enough. But it's not gonna
be the good enough where he's gonna go hang forty
over the next three weeks and they're gonna ride the offense.
They're gonna have to ride the defense. They're gonna have
the get the opportunity tonistic turnovers, they'll have to be

(01:13:57):
good on third down situations. But I do think and
he's good enough because here's the contrary if he has
to go play a case keenum, who which which are
you gonna go take? You know, so it's not like
the two seed is loaded at the position needed And
that's not a knock on cage. It's just you know,
who which one are you gonna take? You can't say, man,

(01:14:19):
I love Minnesota and say I hate Philly because of
the quarterback situation. Great points. Thank you, dan Orlovsky. Good stuff, Dan.
You can follow him on social media dan Orlovsky seven.
Thanks Dan, have a great new year. Thanks man. Alright,
coming up next year on the Big Lead Fox Sports Radio,
what have you seen how the Houston Rockets are struggling

(01:14:41):
and Oklahoma City is hot? Folks, We're gonna pump the
brakes on all the NFL NBA takes. That's next on
the Big Lead Fox Sports Radio. Of course a Lonzo
Ball rapping because we're gonna do some NBA talk. Now
we'll get back to what we did college football picks.
You miss those? Just remember Michigan, the big play Michigan. Also,

(01:15:06):
your boy has Georgia go into the championship against Clemson.
All right, quickly, let's uh great news. There's a quick
way you could save money. Switched to Geiko. Go to
Geico dot com and in fifteen minutes you could save
or more on car insurance. Let's do the NBA shoot around.

(01:15:30):
I gotta wish happy birthday Lebron. I'm contractually obligated to
wish Lebron a happy birthday every forty five minutes on
this show. Who Once you get it started, you got me.
You want me to start it. Okay, I tease something.
The Oklahoma City thunder lost last night, but all of
a sudden they've won twelve of sixteen. They're surging. Here

(01:15:56):
comes Okay, see there now a threat to the Warriors. Folks, books, folks,
pump the brakes. It is December. Do you know how
many crazy things we've seen this month? The Rockets peel
off fifteen straight and now I've lost five straight. By
the way Chris Paul played last night. Guys, they lost
with Chris Paul to Washington. Oh my gosh, how did
it happened? Oh my gosh, they stay. It's December. Calves

(01:16:19):
have lost three or four. Okay, she's hot. Warriors lose
last night. Start Dwight Howard. I mean, it's December. It's
the holiday. Things happen. Don't read. Don't read anything in
the Bowl games. Don't read too much into the Rockets
recent slump or the thunders Hot streak. It don't mean
Jack squat. It's still the Warriors Invitational in the postseason,

(01:16:42):
and they will, Yes, they will once again sweep the
West twelve and oh take it away, Nick. Okay, So,
like you said, it's just December and Remember you know
when everyone Lebron James and that guy Dwayne Wade and
Chris Bosh they were slow for the first couple of months.
They got it together. No shot, Thunder, no shot against
the Warriors. Hell Tonio, if they come back for you

(01:17:05):
kidding me? Hey, I'm with you. I'm just trying to
flow downs. Kauai looking. I haven't even yea nothing special.
That team don't scare nobody. I mean, they can play right,
but yeah, how many games are the Thunder taking off
the Warriors? They getting a game? Look at one on

(01:17:25):
you guys are just giving away one victories against Houston.
That's a sweep too. Room Houston. They just gotta broom him. Houston,
you got problems. I love this theory. Like, guys, when
is Chris Paul ever ever been clutching the postseason? Never?
People forget last year Game seven at home against the Jazz.
They could beat the Jazz. I know he didn't have

(01:17:47):
Blake Griffin, but I don't think the Jazz had Rudy Gobert.
I'm sorry it. Come on and listen, James Harden. I
like the guy a lot. What's up with these meltdowns late? Uh?
The playoffs? Last year against the Spurs Um Celtics the
other night. I know he dropped fifty one back to
back last week. I don't know about these fourth quarters.

(01:18:09):
Like I love how he complains with the refs, the
guy that the guy gets. You know, no one else
gets as many foul calls as he does. And he
complains that he was fifteen from the line. Yeah, all right, Rob,
what do you got giving something hot, some hot take.
We're gonna tease it. We're gonna do it later in
the year. But things are falling falling apart for the Lakers.
It's a in fighting in the locker room. We got

(01:18:31):
some frustration boiling over. And it all stands from something
I said when he was hired Irvan Magic Johnson. They
when they put the word out that they were gonna
carve out to max slots. We're gonna trade away our
second I don't think they put the word out. They
said in a press conference, we're gonna have to max
slots this upcoming off season. James, let me squeeze something. No, no,

(01:18:55):
it's just good. But before we preface this Laker talk,
A Lonzo has been out all week just for what
they're starting. A rookie Josh Hart at point guard. Proceed Nick,
but go ahead, Nick, Okay, speaking of a Lonzo, that's
what's gonna bring up, Jason. Lakers are on a five
game slide, right, okay, So of Lonzo hasn't played those
three have you watched those games? Can people cannot say
a lonzos a bust anymore? They cannot move the ball.

(01:19:16):
They've been getting blown out these last three games. No
one is getting shots off. Like you said, Josh Hard
starting that you can't He's not play. Here's the problem though,
I'm not even watching them. With Alonzo out, I'm like
cash Hard by the Cape. What a disaster. He's well
now now that Rob you before I steal your KCP

(01:19:37):
thunder and nobody cares nationally about KCP. But this has
to do with Lebron. Listen, the only reason why KCP
is getting the long leach that he gets in Los
Angeles is because his agent has a client named Lebron James,
and the Lakers are trying to put up that smokes
me and says, hey, it's great to play here. We're
a player's friendly team. Look I got your guy eight team.

(01:19:57):
We'll take care of you. Bro, he's gonna work release program.
You can't leave the state for road games like that's bad.
I mean, honestly, that is a listen if it's just
a bad look for KCP. Now, Kuzma has been slumping
without Alonzo. Have you noticed he only shot like he's
like two for thirty. Yeah, but but I want to

(01:20:18):
go back. Let's look at this positively, Okay, Lebron, Paul,
George Ingram, KCP, Alonzo. I'm sorry to Kuzma Alonzo. That
five is nasty. They're long, they can switch on anything.
By the way, Nick, what did you think of my
Jordan Bell igu dolla thing? And I know that's very micro,

(01:20:38):
but I'm telling you, guys, Jordan Bell is gonna play
NBA finals minutes over Iguala. You're all about Jordan's Bell,
you know, actually, since you mentioned a couple of weeks ago, Dude,
he can play second round, pick can play. I'm telling
you this. Warriors teams steamroll, They're gonna truck people. Hey,
how about this? Is this incendiary enough? Kevin Durant has

(01:20:59):
has a case to be m v P. No Rob
not with that team around him nowhere. I don't like
agree with Nick, but see what you do to me, Jason.
You're making me agree with Nick because who's MVP. Wait, okay,
so hard and uh it's still m VV Lebron. I'd
go with Hart and still close with him and Lebron Lebron.

(01:21:20):
Kevin Duran has a case people who leads the league
in block shots. The true test of a man is
recognizing your weaknesses and improving on them. And Kevin Duran
has become a defensive star. Shut down Lebron. Do I
even need to tease the text? Next segment, We're gonna
do NFL picks next high noon on the East Coast

(01:21:40):
and nine am on the Pacific Coast. I'm your host,
ladies and gentlemen, Jason McIntyre, coming to you live from
the Geico Fox Sports Radio Studios. Fifteen minutes could save
you fift or more on car insurance. Visit Geico dot
com for a free rate quote. Thank you for finding

(01:22:01):
us on the dial, Thank you for tuning in. We've
had in Can I call it amazing? I don't know.
It's been a pretty pretty darn good two hours. Very
fired up about a lot of stuff. Hope everybody had
a merry Christmas. Hope everybody has a safe and happy
New Year. I'll be ringing in the new year with
a lot of football. Football yesterday, football today, football, tomorrow,

(01:22:24):
football and black Monday will be a lot of football news.
With the coaching firings, You're gonna be hot and heavy.
There's gonna be a lot of them. One of them
won't be Hugh Jackson. Hugh Jackson gonna keep his job
in Cleveland. And you know what, Hugh Jackson is probably
gonna get Sam Donald in the NFL draft. Now, my hope,

(01:22:45):
of course, is that Cleveland. Like all these buffoons on
the internet and all these hot take artists saw Sam
Donald's bowl games, Oh he's not a good quarterback, just
like everybody saw JaMarcus Russell carve up Notre Dame in
a ball game and said, oh, I need him. He's
got to go number one. JaMarcus Russell was a bust,

(01:23:07):
just like all those buffoons saw Derek Carr struggle for
fresdo in his ball game against USC. Oh, no, he
thought he don't look like a star. He felt to
the second round. Derek Carr has been pretty darn good,
pretty darn good. Not great this year, but the previous
two he was lights out with the Raiders. Don't read

(01:23:28):
too much into ball games. The pack twelve one and seven. Folks,
don't read too much into that. Josh Rosen didn't play,
Luke Falk didn't play. Oregon coachings change Stanford, Bryce Love
gets hurt. I'm not gassing. I don't think the pactool
is great, but I don't think we can look at

(01:23:50):
a bowl game and read too much into it. Sam
Donald was not great last night. His offensive line was terrible,
absolutely atrocious. Did he make a couple of mistakes? Yeah?
H He has thirteen interceptions this year. Deshaun Watson had seventeen.
Last year Jamis Winston had eighteen. Folks, just just relax
on Sam Donald. He's gonna be fine, trust me, all right,

(01:24:16):
joining us now as he has all year, basically the
last two maybe three years. My man t A, he
is high up in the Super Contest. If you haven't
been following the Super Contest five NFL picks every week,
the lines come out Wednesday, winner a million bucks, top
fifty win money. T A was on fire. I believe

(01:24:38):
he was as high as twelve. But here's what happened.
The Eagles Raiders finish was just just oh, I crushed
him so badly, t A, I feel I feel bad
bringing it up. Um, why don't you tell people what
happened to your your place in the standings when that
joke of a finish went down. Yeah, so, um, you

(01:25:00):
know I was probably I was in the top twenty.
It was a log jam going into that Philly game.
And there was probably I think thirteen fourteen guys who
had Philly out of the top I think, uh in
these standings. So by them winning and getting that miracle,

(01:25:21):
you know, its a bunch of people passed me, people
tried me. So I went from like, you know, I'm
in the clear top twenty. Now I'm in a big
log jam for twenty eight, I believe. So yeah, it
just makes things tip tougher. But the only you know,
the good news is I'm only two games away from
the top ten. I mean that's how close it is.
So if I can make up a couple of games,
if I can get a four and one or five,

(01:25:42):
and oh, I'm gonna still still finish high up and
you know, be pretty happy. So fiftieth place in place
gets about what ten thousand dollars five thousand yeah, and
so if you can finish top five, you look at
it a nice page, dude, Yeah, it would be a nice,
nice post Christmas bonus to do well. So let me
quit before we get to the game's real quick. You're

(01:26:04):
a Browns fan. What do you want Sam Donald number one?
Or do you want Josh Rosen? I like I like Donald.
You know, look, I know he had a tough game yesterday.
That that line is atrocious. It's been a problem all year.
I don't think he even has the weapons. I know
Ronald Jones is a great, great running back, but receiver,
it's it's not your standard and your typical USC receiving corps.

(01:26:25):
But that line is just so bad. I think he's
trying to make plays. You saw, I mean a couple
of books blows on the sidelines. Funny. I think I
think he'll be good. Um. I think he has the
highest floor of all those guys. Um. And I like
the fact that he's a big body kid, uh playing
the a f C. North you know here in Cleveland
and cold weather and Josh Rosen to me great talent,

(01:26:47):
was a great ball. Reminds me of Jared Goff a
little bit. Just throwing the ball, but um, you know,
the mental makeup and just you known entitlement thing bothers
me a little bit. And I've heard them some guys
within the college football community who have owned name names
who have really questioned his toughness in general. Uh, and
kind of his mental mental makeup for the for the

(01:27:09):
pro game. So I think, yeah, when it when it's
all said into I think Donald has the highest flour
of all of them. So I'd be perfectly fine taking
them of one. And as a Browns fan, you're going
really far out on a limb t a in the
super contest. You are taking the Browns plus eleven. Are
you crazy? Well, that's pure line value. I mean it's

(01:27:29):
down to six now, and you've got obviously the Steelers
are sitting everybody. Yeah, Landry Jones is a quarterback. I
mean you trust Landry Jones a cover? Wait wait, you
say they're sitting everybody. If the Patriots somehow are in
a struggle with the Jets, that we might see Big
Ben and Levey on Bell out there. Uh, what do
you think that's gonna be a strong I got advocate. No,

(01:27:53):
I'm just it's purely line belt will probably be the
number one player on the board is my guest, but
just kind of a easy five points between what the
actual line is and what the contxt line is. So
have you take it? Okay? So the other dog you took,
I I just crossed him off the list at the end,
simply because I don't know if I trust them. The
Miami Dolphins, uh, plus two and a half against the Bills.

(01:28:13):
Bills playing for something, Miami not Uh. You know, Miami
could be breaking the huddle with one two three, Kimco Man,
Well you get that. It's funny. You know, you can
look historically, there's some numbers out there, some trends where
you know, every you know, the public especially loves the
back team that need to win, that are in a
must win to get in the playoff situation, and the

(01:28:34):
lines are always inflated. And historically, if you just fade
those teams with non playoff teams, you know, you hit
about sixty of time in weeks that between So, um,
this is a case to me where you know, just
two weeks ago, Miami played in Buffalo and the line
was Buffalo minus three and a half. Now you go
into Miami and their minus two and a half. I

(01:28:55):
mean that's that's about a four to five point swing. Um,
it should the should the line technically should have been
Miami probably minus one or two. So you're getting about
three or four points in line value clearly because of
this this um you know, the thought process that the
public is gonna be all over the muscle wind scenes
here in Buffalo. So yeah, I mean, there is that
outside chance that Miami's on vacation already. But um, you know,

(01:29:18):
they've played hard at home. They're on their five and
one against the spread as as a home team three
you know, as a dog. So I like those trends,
and you know, hopefully they can pull off the victory
against the Bills. Okay, but but at the same time,
you went with the Patriots. First of all, last week
you went Caroline. I was like, dude, you don't usually
take big favorites, and now you're going Patriots favored by

(01:29:40):
fifteen and a half, Jets playing for nothing, Patriots looking
to lockdown the number one seed. What's the thought process here? Yeah?
I mean this is just this is really a fade
on Bryce Petty. I mean right, I mean, I mean,
he's he's complaining forty seven percent of his past and
one touchdown, three interceptions. I heard Hackenburg your boy might
get some man yeah start, which would make my pick

(01:30:03):
even better. But this is I mean, the combination of
Petty is not gonna be able to do anything at all.
You've got a terrible past defense. The Jets have allowed
the second most explosive plays in the NFL this year. Um,
I just don't see how the Jets can score enough
uh and prevent New England and Brady from from moving
the balls to keep up. You know, they covered the
spread two weeks ago in New Orleans. The line was

(01:30:24):
I think sixteen is very similar and they lost by twelve,
but that's because they had three turnovers um from the Saints.
I just don't see the you know, the Brady and
the Patriots are not going to turn it over like that.
So I just don't see anyway that the Jets are
gonna hang on. And yeah, it could be one of
those you know, backdoor situations, but do you trust Bryce Petty.
I don't want the Jets to win this game. I

(01:30:45):
want them to try to get as high as possible
UH in the draft. All right, So t A your
final two picks. Home favorites Atlanta and Denver both three
and a half. I thought you hated the hook. Oh
so I don't mind the hook. I mean it's fine,
and I um to me, these these two are are
kind of public fade, so both are getting a lot

(01:31:06):
of action on the dogs. So you look at Atlanta,
I was all I've seen is everyone thinking Carolina is
gonna win this game. They're a lot of support. I
had them last week and I watched that game and
Jamis Winston went up and down the field. You know,
did you see what his numbers were? Seventy eight percent
completion percentage, thirteen yards per attempt. They couldn't stop him

(01:31:26):
the last two road games. Carolina's has to since we've
gotten sports for six yards of sports, touchdowns, no interceptions.
I just think that, for whatever reason, their secondary is
a major major weakness UM and I think this is
you know, this is a game where I think Atlanta
comes to play UM and I think they're gonna throw
the ball. Julio Jones had huge numbers against Carolina, So

(01:31:49):
I just think this is a spot where you know,
Atlanta is gonna um cover the three And I have
what about to Thomas Davis back for Carolina? What about
Davonte for even four fumbles in the last three game
bumble to me are random? What about the red zone issues?
Two trips inside the New Orleans five, turned it over
on downsend on a fumble. This Atlanta offense, man, this

(01:32:13):
is not a good team. Yeah, I just say again,
I think the red zone stuff is a little bit
is a little bit random, especially and the turnovers as well. Um,
I just think that this Carolina I watched them play.
They could not in a game where Tampa was coming
off a Monday night loss with a lot of injuries.
They just did whatever they wanted to against that defense.

(01:32:35):
And so I just look, and you got Atlanta at home,
and it just seems to me, like, you know, this
is a great spot for them to put up some points.
Only three and a half and you're not laying a
big number here. So all right, we're wishing you best
of luck. Hey, do you have a college football lock
if you want to toss in one for either the
playoff or coming up a player. I mean, I took
Georgia when they were plus one when the line came out,

(01:32:57):
and I know their favored now, so there's probably not
as much value, But I do like the game today.
I like Washington getting three if you could buy it
up the three if you have to. I think it's
a huge mismatch when you look in the trenches between
their defensive line and Penn State's offensive line. Very similar
to what we saw last night in the Ohio State
USC game. UM, and Washington defense is outstanding. It allows

(01:33:19):
the least amount of explosive plays in the run game. Uh.
And you know no Joel moorehead for for Penn ST's
going off the Mississippi State that he's an offensive offensive coordinator. Yes, yes, yes, good, yes.
I think that's gonna hurt them. I just think this
is a Washington defense that could really man handle that line.
I'm not sure Party is gonna do much on the ground.
You might get some, you know, yards through the air,
but I think that defense is gonna really cause problems

(01:33:43):
for the Penn State offensive line. So I like the three.
They're okay, all right, t A, thanks a lot. We're
wishing you best to luck, collect some money, and maybe
we'll have you back next week to give us some
playoff thoughts. Cool. Thanks all right. Uh. Coming up next
here on the Big League Fox Sports Radio, we look
into our NFL ball or Crystal Ball for pre Snapper.

(01:34:04):
That's next talking a little Instagram and the break there
with producer Rob. I got all these new followers because
I put up all these No, I did not put
up pikini photos of myself. I need to put up
some shirtless I need to start working out. But it's funny, Rob,

(01:34:24):
I posted a video playing pick up basketball and I
hit this three. A couple of NBA guys were on
the court, I mean former NBA there past their pride
and I I heard from so many people it's so funny. Um,
I'm gonna go play after this, and um it's tough
to tell people, Hey, can you get video of me
playing basketball? It's like can popping all my I g

(01:34:48):
that's so losory. I don't even care. What does it
mean when Geiko says just fifteen minutes could save you
fift or more on car insurance means you probably should
have gone to Geico dot com fifteen minut It's ago.
I can't wait. This is the week pre staff reeds.
Remember a few weeks ago where Rob was like, somebody's
gonna die on New Year's Well, then if again I

(01:35:10):
got invited to the game by the way, and I
was like, oh, it's a dumb up center. Yeah, I
don't want to die. So I'm passing on Chargers Raiders
because the game starts at one right and ends I
guess it'll end around four. Parking lot is going to
be the Shenanigans because it starts to get dark around
like five o'clock. So if you get caught in the

(01:35:31):
parking lot at of a Raiders game too late, you
may just have to kiss a goodbye. Let's do the
pre staff reeds the only NFL predictions You'll need to
turn it up and that this is your pre snap
reed in the Big League. All right, you have the scorecard, Rob,

(01:35:53):
I do. It was another rough week for the Big
League crew. Jason, Yeah, I actually listened. I was just
taking this chance Tinder. I went and wanted one my
My Garoppolo outright over the jack not um oh, I've
got a good Jimmy Garoppolo theory. Can I drop that
in or save it for later? Go for it? Um?

(01:36:16):
The read like the Cleveland Browns wanted Garoppolo badly. The
reason Belichick didn't trade him there was because Belichick thought
Josh McDaniels would then leave to follow him to Cleveland,
so he would lose Garoppolo and Josh McDaniels, I see,
I see a nod in there. That's one victory. I'll
take it, all right. So I'm gonna get started with this.

(01:36:40):
Jacksonville does not want to play Baltimore in the playoffs.
They don't want to play the Chargers, they don't want
to play the Bills. I think Jacksonville wants to play
Tennessee and they're bad coach Mike Mularkey, and I think
Jacksonville doesn't play any starters against Tennessee, loses, and then

(01:37:01):
they run it back next week. So I think Jacksonville
loses on purpose so they can play Tennessee at home
and crush him next week. Nick fire one ready, you know.
I so hope you're wrong, because as a Charger fan,
there's a small glimmer of hope there is. Like I said, yeah,
I mean, the Chargers beat the Raiders, and I'm going
there in a second, but also need the Titans to win,

(01:37:23):
So I really hope you're wrong on this one. But
if the Chargers win Titans, the Bills have to lose
as well. Why would you want to play Joey Bosa
and Ingram and Rivers and they shouldn't. But as a
Charger fan, I hope it happens. So I'm gonna go
here first as a small glimmer hope. I'm gonna go
with the Chargers batter that awful Oakland defense favorite by

(01:37:47):
seven and a half. I'll have a winning by why not?
How about a couple of TVs? How about thirty thirty two? Uh?
I think Rivers lights Hi Leve. I'll get to him
in a second. Okay, okay, be you know what. I'm
gonna go ahead and double down on that game. But
I'm not gonna go on field action. I'm going off
the field into the stands. I don't want to go

(01:38:08):
death because I don't want to put that on anybody.
But I'm gonna go ahead over under arrest after the game. Wait, wait,
just after the game or before during an episode. We'll
just say after the game, because that's gonna be tough.
They if there's like arrest, they're not gonna break it down.
We'll say total arrest, total arrest. Right now, I'm setting
it at fifteen and a half. I'm taking the over

(01:38:29):
over over fifteen and a half. Arrests made at the
Charge of Raider game in Los Angeles on New Year's Eve.
That that can be a blood bath. Dude, Um fifteen,
that's not a terrible number, all right. I am going
to go again with playoffs in mind. I believe the
Rams tank their game against the forty Niners, so they

(01:38:53):
are then in position to play the Eagles in the
second round as posed to the Vikings. Now, I touched
on this earlier. If you're a playoff team in the NFC,
you you don't mind facing Nick Foles in Philly. You
don't want to go to Minnesota and face that defense
and case Keenum Case Keenum right now better than Nick Foles,

(01:39:14):
no doubt. So I think the Rams throw this game,
And of course you still gotta beat the Falcons or
Seahawks or whatever in the playoffs. But I think the
Rams would much rather be the four seed and play
Philly then go into Minnesota. Who will be the two seeds.
I'll keep it in l A. Jason. You know I
just said that the Chargers I'm hoping will route the Raiders,

(01:39:37):
and you can hear in my voice. I don't have
a lot of confidence because the Charge has always teased
their fans with getting into the playoffs year after year.
But I'm gonna keep it there. Philip Rivers. By the way, Jason,
just really quick, Philip Rivers right now, Hall of Fame,
Hall of Fame. Wow, that's hard to me. I think
last last week proved he had to beat Kansas City
on the road. I really think that just killed his

(01:39:59):
Hall of Fame chance. Philip Rivers isn't going to the
Hall of Fame because he lost to the Chief. No,
I mean that was a game that he had to win,
that could have propelled them into a miraculous comeback from
going ohen four to start the year. Because I mean
I think, I mean, you ask a lot of people.
I guarantee if you asked, you know, majority of NFL people.
I think most people will say no. But I still
think he has a couple of years left maybe prove himself.
But it's it's it's borderline, you know. I just said yes,

(01:40:21):
because he's had a long career. He I think he's
been a two a FC title games. Um, if memory serves,
Dan Fouch didn't go to no Super Bowl. Yeah, you know, yes,
he went to a Super bowls. You know, he get
smoked by the forty Niners back in I think Foucher
was a quarterback. Yes, shucks, I'm sorry I did not
remember that are but I don't know. I don't think

(01:40:42):
he did. Maybe maybe I'm wrong here may I was
a little I think still a Rams fan back then. Anyway, Uh,
here's the thing this this week, Rivers, I think it's
gonna have to torch the Oakland Raiders. Okay, range puss
Yards a couple of ts. By the way, I just
I just as I was talking, I was googling. Yeah,
was totally wrong with felt. So if it felts it

(01:41:03):
Fouts is a Hall of Famer. I think there's a
case for Rivers. Yes, agreed. Shout out to Nick for
putting data Fouts on Super Bowl. Yeah, he was like
he's playing with Nastron means Jr. Say, oh, all right,
how many quarterbacks have have not been to a super Bowl?
There in the Hall of Fame. I'm trying to think
Plunkett want a Super Bowl with the Raiders. I think

(01:41:25):
that's hard. You'd have to really sit down and get
that one. Well, listen, Matt Stafford is gonna be the
ultimate test. Shattered tons of records, put up massive numbers.
I mean yeah, I think he's the one playoff game,
I mean super Bowl. Hey, you can't get to an
NFC title game, is he? So do you keep him
out of the Hall of Fame? I don't. We're off

(01:41:46):
the rails here, all right. Let's focus Rob. What's your
final my final priest nap right here on the Big
League Jason McIntire, Fox Sports Radio. The game of the
week in my eyes, because it's the only one that
directly impacts both teams. The Euston Texans on the road
in India against the Colts, the Game of theft the
same Falcons Panther draft position is on the line here

(01:42:08):
on this one. Neither team really wants to win it.
Even though Texans are gonna given up their first round pick,
they don't want to lose drown in their second round
pick either or their third round pick, because they need
on the help they can get. I expect a low
scoring game, a lot of turnovers, but eventually someone's gonna
have to win. Give me culture favorite by five. The

(01:42:29):
Colts minus the five and a half going to sneak
it out with a garbage time defensive touchdown. But those
defensive guys don't know what they're doing. They're gonna accidentally
scoop and score. I feel bad saying this. I made
such a big play on the Cults this week because
DeAndre Hopkins is out. I don't even know who's starting,
Savage or Yates or that other dude, Tyler Monikey or
whatever his name is. Um, they have nothing. They've lost

(01:42:52):
their last two games by like sixty six points. They
better not show up. I mean, I if my wife
found out how much money I've got on the Coltis Speaks,
you be angry. I'll just leave it at that. Um.
So those are the pre snapperds. Next week, we're gonna
have to do this for the wild card games. I
gotta just say that the wild card games could be

(01:43:12):
pretty ugly next week. I mean, you could have a
Blake Bortles versus Tyrod Taylor game. Now, I will say
last year, the Texans got into the playoffs with some
crappy quarterback and they faced Connor Cook of your Raiders.
That was ugly. Like, you can't watch that game. It's

(01:43:32):
the going the difference from red zone to the playoffs.
It's just so so difficult. Because I love me some
red zone. And you know, listen these first round games,
there's gonna be no stars out there all right. Coming
up next year on the Big League Fox Sports Radio.
Former Georgia quarterback was a third round pick, fourth round pick.

(01:43:54):
He went in the draft, play in the NFL. He's
joining the show next to talk dam Donald. We'll get
into a little college football playoffs stuff. But first, here's
Isaac Loewen Crown with the latest in sports, Jason with
a countdown on the Monday's Rose Bowl semifinal between Oklahoma
and Georgia. The big story right now is Heisman Trophy
winning Sooner quarterback Baker Mayfield's health. Reporters at the team

(01:44:17):
hotel were originally told that Mayfield would not be available today,
so head coach Lincoln Riley was first asked about him.
He was pretty sick on the trip out and uh
got a little worse there for a couple of days
and hopefully starting to level off. Now, you know, will
he be physically that we'll see, but but he'll he's

(01:44:39):
not gonna miss us. Meanwhile, Mayfield was watching the proceedings
in his room upstairs on television and decided to come
downstairs to describe how He's been doing pretty much in
my room. I've gotten a couple of bites to eat
around the hotel, but that's about it. It's not gonna
ender my playoffs. Still be out there on Monday for
the most important thing. Yeah, I'm not dying. And finally,

(01:45:00):
Jason on the field right now in the tax Slayer
Bowl number twenty three, Mississippi State and Louisville tied at
seven with six and a half ago in the first
just kicking off right now, it's the Liberty Bowl between
the home team, twenty ranked Memphis and Iowa State back
do you thank you, Isaac. I'm a little worried about

(01:45:22):
the Baker Mayfield hype train. Guys. Remember when I compared
Baker Mayfield to Bitcoin a couple of days ago. Baker
Mayfield is now considered a first round draft pick. I
don't think people understand the gravity of what the expectations
will be on Baker Mayfield if he's taken in the
first round by anybody. I like him as a value

(01:45:43):
pick in the second or third, but a first round pick,
franchise guy, that's that's a tough one. Um. Maybe this
our next guest can help us decipher the Baker Mayfield
Hype joining the show now. He played quarterback at Georgia. Uh,
he was. He's been on a lot of blogs because
he's occasionally dated like quasi famous people and his brother,

(01:46:06):
I believe was on The Bachelor. Um. Aaron Murray, former
Georgia Bulldog quarterback joining the show. Good morning, Aaron, How
are you doing good? How are you doing today? Dude?
I'm alright. Do most people describe you as as dating
famous women and having a brother on a on a
reality show or not? Really? I think the second one
hits a little bit more with Josh on the double

(01:46:27):
Bachelor shows, and we look alike, so I always get stuffed,
usually with women about fourties sixty like are you the
kids from the Bachelor? Sorry to disappoint you, and we
go from there. But it's a ya, So that's a
whole different crazy world. I would I would ask if
that if you've part laid Hey my brother was on
the Bachelor into any dates? But I just went on
your Instagram and I don't need to ask that question.

(01:46:50):
All right? Are Aaron Murray joining the show? Aaron? Listen,
did you watch Sam Donald last night at all? Yeah?
I got to watch Sam and and it definitely was
not the best performance. Uh, USC is the total offense defense.
Uh the offensive line just cannot protect them the joy
of the night. And if they're going to gets the
great Ohio State defense, a team that's from proving they
can stop the run, put teams in the situation where

(01:47:12):
they have to pass the ball again, that third and
long situation. So USC did not look great. Sam Donald
did not look his best. I mean still is the
He still has the arm, he has the ability to
make all the throws. The consistencies of what what worries me.
You look at the beginning of the season and he's
throwing the first few games so on one of two
interceptions the game. And and he definitely cleaned his up,
his act up as the season went along. He's felt

(01:47:33):
more comfortable, especially with some newer receivers. But you know,
time is the time of the guy's best friend. So
the more reps you get, especially in college against top talent,
the better he's gonna be, the more prepared you're gonna
be for the NFL. So he's a tough decision ahead
of him if he wants to come back for another
year or if he's ready to rock and roll. Now, Aaron,
you were, Uh, it looks like according to your stats
is your sophomore year. You you lit it up, you

(01:47:54):
put up some big numbers. You kept deciding to come
back to college. How did that process go for you?
When you did? You pinging it off agents? Did you
talk to the NFL draft board or what have you?
Can you talk us through that process? Yeah? I talked
to agents. I talked to the draft board, and and
my big deciding factor was especially my junior season when

(01:48:15):
we played Alabama in the SEC championship game and and
we ended up being about four or five yards short
of winning that game to go play Notre Dame for
the national championship, you know, to to leave at that note,
to be so close to going to have an opportunity
to play for Natty and I have a chance to win,
that just really kind of fueled me to come back.
You know, if I could honestly say, if if we
would have ended up winning that game brush Aladama gone

(01:48:36):
to play Notre Dame, I feel like we've probably would
have had a good shot of winning that game and
then probably would have left and declared from the draft
from there. So I just felt for me personally, there
was some unfinished business too, to get it one more
go around, uh, to go back. And but it's hard
for those guys, you know, especially when you're your first
round draft pick type of guy. It's a lot of
it's a lot of money to say no to and

(01:48:56):
then also going with the uncertainty of possibly getting injured
and then looking I did myself my senior year obviously
obviously the second to last game of the season, I
go out there and tear my a c L. I
can't do the Senior Bowl, I can't do the combine.
How I kind of make shift Pro day, So that really,
you know, heading into that year, I was predicted second
third round draft pick, and then all of a sudden,

(01:49:16):
you know, dropped to the fifth round because hey, he's
not gonna be even ready for the first year because
he's coming up an a c L injury. So you
also have the fact of that in as well. The
alfornity of any play can throw you, you know, two
or three rounds back. Yeah, Oh that sucks. I just
looked up I remembered that SEC title game. Dude, how
many pros were on the field that day? Alabama's running
backs for Eddie Lacey and T. J. Yeldon. You had

(01:49:38):
girly and I remember alec Ogletree had a monster play
in that game, didn't he. Oh we had I think
we had about seven six or seven guys drafted just
offensively from that year from Tarvis stones Aultry McCary, Rambos
of ours King a receiver. So a lot of town
on that field. And obviously Alabama is always first and
second round town left than right. And and like I said,

(01:50:00):
whoever won that game. I had buddies that Notre Dame,
and they said they were watching it knowing that whoever
they had to play where they're probably get their butts kicked.
And it happened with Alabama coon in there and and
mopping them up pretty good. Speaking of butts kick, we're
talking with Aaron Murray, former Georgia quarterback playing in the NFL. Aaron,
I like Georgia a lot against Oklahoma. I'm shocked that

(01:50:20):
Oklahoma opened is a favorite. George's now favored by two
two and a half. I just think they're gonna kill
him at the line of scrimmage and people aren't thinking
about that. Oklahoma can't stop the run. I mean this,
this feels to me like a Georgia walk over, what
are your thoughts? I think the key of this game
for Georgia is gonna be time of possession. If they
can get to thirty three minutes thirty four minutes of

(01:50:41):
time possession. Maybe to tell Jake from Hey, we're gonna
you're gonna break the huddle around fifteen seconds. We want
you to snap the ball with five or six seconds
to go in the play cos let's eat it up.
Let's get Baker Mayfield, let's get their offensive offensive team
frustrated because they're not on the field. They're not doing
what they used to be doing. Because in that league,
the Big twelve, they're used to, you know, score in

(01:51:01):
two or three minutes. Here the team gets the ball
scoring two or three minutes, so they're they're not used
to sitting on a sideline for six, seven, eight minutes
just waiting to get their turn to go out there
and play again. So that could be the Georgia's best
friend and just eat the clock up. Because Oklahoma has
not seen an offense like this. They've not seen an
offense that gets into the eye, that uses one tight end,
that uses two tight ends. It's gonna continuously pound the

(01:51:22):
rock down your throat and then on top of that,
utilize the play action off of it. So I think,
like you said, the Georgia offensive line is gonna be
key this game in the running game is gonna be key.
And just owning that ball. Get to that thirty or
four minutes of time with possession, and I think George
will win the game. Yeah, it seems to me just
a mismatching styles. The Big twelve is a joke defensively, uh,
and we know the quarterbacks put out monster numbers and

(01:51:45):
then flop in the NFL. Uh. But let's pivot to
the Alabama game. Alabama Clemson Part three. Aaron Murray, former
Georgia quarterback. Your thoughts, just Clempson have a chance here. Everybody,
everybody in their mom is picking Alabama. Nick Saban, I
don't know. I think I'm picking Clemson, and I know,
um you know a bunch of people. I know you
are picking cups that that boat teams are great. I

(01:52:06):
think boat teams are very similarly built. Great defensive um
offenses that this year, especially this year for Clemson, a
little bit more balanced. I think they're averaging about that's
passing two rushing per game. I think Kelly Briant is
continuously to impress me the more I've seen him this year.
He's more accurate in the pocket. I think he's less
three or four games, he's averaging I think, complaining over

(01:52:28):
seven percent of his passes, six touchdowns, one interception. So
he's getting better. He's he's feeling more comfortable than obviously
his ability to run, and and we've seen at Alabama
having difficult times stopping a quarterback who's able to tuck
it and run. And then I just don't think Jalen
Hurts right now is gonna get it done with his arm.
I think Clemson they're too physical, they're too strong upfront

(01:52:50):
where they're gonna be able to make sure they keep
him in the pocket, make sure he's not going to
beat them with his legs. Uh So, I think he
can't win with his arm. And then the big thing
for me too is Alabama. For ten years it was
the Big Bad Alabama. Everyone's scared to play those guys
that worried though that we lost before even down the field.
I think with the win last year, Clemson now is

(01:53:10):
walking into this game with confidence. You know, then we
we beat these guys. We know how to beat them.
It's been done, it's been proven, it can happen. We're
not scared of you. We're just as good with just
as Townson. We're just as both. Coach. I think Gabbo
is an unbelievable head coach, so I think that's a
huge factor into this game as well. Great point, Aaron Murray.
And and to uh, you know, back you up Kelly

(01:53:31):
Bryant against Auburn through for a buck eighty one and
rush for fifty nine yards to touchdowns. So, uh, he's
obviously not DeShawn Watson, but nobody expects him to be.
He just has to come through. Uh, Aaron Murray, thank
you very much, and good luck to your bulldogs against Oklahoma.
I appreciate it. Thank you guys, all right, that's uh,

(01:53:51):
Aaron Murray. Man, I was looking at his uh college stats.
This guy put a monster numbers. I had totally forgotten
about that. A c L tear in his final year
and it dropping him to the fifth round. He put
up thirty five TVs as a sophomore, thirty six is
a junior. And that was the year where if he
had won the SEC title, gave he would have gone prouh,
poor oh Man. That sucks now he's an announcer, but

(01:54:15):
um had a good career in the SEC alright coming
up next year. On The Big League Fox Sports Radio,
we wrap up the show strong, Little Lebron, Little Sam Donald,
a lot of fun. Today's back here on the Big Lead.
Thank you for listening today, folks. It's been a great show,

(01:54:35):
maybe one of the year's best. It's always good to
go out with a strong show, and I just felt
like today we really brought the noise in the funk.
I'm telling you you will not be able to turn
on your radio this weekend without hearing. Sam Donald is
a major talking point and I just cannot help but
defend Sam Donald to the death. The guy's twenty and

(01:54:58):
four in his were he threw some interceptions, big whoop
thee damn do. Deshaun Watson seventeen picks last year, went
tenth slay the NFL. We had a former quarterback on here,
Dan Orlovsky, earlier, just talking about how the little problems
he has are easily fixable, and we talked about this

(01:55:20):
here on this show. Guys. A Lonzo ball came out
and he does the intangibles well, the vision and the
field and the help defense and the extra pass and
the look ahead pass. Those are innate qualities that he has.
So his shot is busted. B F D. You can

(01:55:41):
fix that. There are shot doctors for that. Sam Donald
has all the intangibles. He's got the strapping body, the
great arm. He's putting balls in tight windows, even yesterday
against Ohio State. Meanwhile, you got Josh Rosen. And I
like Joshua wasn't a lot. I think he could be
a good pro. But this dude's a little fragile. He's

(01:56:04):
got a bit of an ego. He's been injured now
in the last two years. He's gonna come in. He's
gonna be entitled, he's gonna say what he wants, and
I I got some reservations about that. Now. I will
add sitting out helped Josh Rosen, And that's how busted

(01:56:25):
the system is when Josh Rosen can enhance his stock
by sitting out. But Sam Donald plays and we penalize
him and knock him. He didn't just play a bowl game, Folks.
The Ohio State defensive coordinators, a guy by the name
of Greg Shiano. You may be aware of his work
he coached in the NFL. You've given a former NFL

(01:56:47):
coach a month to scheme on a defense with a
uh at least five pros. At least they've got Nick Bosa,
who's gonna be a top five pick in. They got
a couple other guys on that line. They got the
guy who had to pick six. Is it is a pro?
So you got an NFL, former NFL coach scheming for

(01:57:07):
a month against an overmatch staff and Clay Hilton. And
that offensive line was a joke. It has been all year.
Go watch the tape. Since they ran over Stanford by
thirty with the run game in like week two or three,
it's been a real struggle for that offensive line. You
see Donald in the pocket, that guys seeing ghosts out there.

(01:57:29):
He knows, Oh my gosh, they're bringing three and they're
getting to me. Yeah, he's gonna have happy feet. And
I cannot help but keep coming back to this. Don't
read too much into these bowl games. How many times
do I have to say it? Derek Carr, they loved him,
loved him at Frestos. Then he goes into a bowl

(01:57:50):
game against USC they look totally overwhelmed. He struggled and
everybody tossed Derek Carr out the window, including me. And
that was a mistake. Well, you know what, you learn
from your mistakes. And I learned watching that Derek car
game and I'll and I'll never forget. I was texting
Colin Coward, man, this guy, this guy Car does not

(01:58:11):
look like much and we were talking about the game,
and hey, man, by year two, Derek Carr thirty two ticks,
you're three. He was an m v P candidate. So
don't read too much into these bowl games. Don't be
that guy who watches JaMarcus Russell carve up Notre Dame
and say, oh, slam dunk, give me JaMarcus. I mean,

(01:58:33):
come on, don't read too much into these bowl games.
Big ten, five and oh, folks, it's obvious they have
the best coaches in the country, the most depth. You
give any good coach a month to prepare. Come on,
he's gonna deliver. SEC O and three, Well, we know
the SEC sucks. We know they've been down all year.

(01:58:55):
Been bashing the SEC. Top heavy. It's Auburn, it's Georgia,
it's Alabama, and it ain't nobody else, although right now
it looks like Mississippi State, Isaac. Do we have a
score on Mississippi State against Lamar Jackson and Louisville. I there,
referees are huddling about something. Maybe the SEC loses another
one there. Okay, Mississippi States up fourteen seven. But again

(01:59:18):
these bowl games. Don't worry about him. Sam Donald is
gonna be fine, slam dunk superstar. I will say this.
If I'm the New York Jets and I finished with
the seventh pick, Rob, I call up the Cleveland Browns,
I say, what did you guys get for Carson Wentz

(01:59:39):
to first and a second? Done? Give me the first pick?
Would you do it if you were the Browns? Or
do you draft Donald? If I'm the Browns, I wouldn't
do it. I don't need a quarterback. But if I'm
anybody else, oh yeah, I would trade up to get
a quarterback. Wait. Wait, if you're the Browns, you would
not do with the trap because they need a quarter
they keep passing on court. Peter King came on here
and said that John dors loves Baker Mayfield. Now again,

(02:00:03):
this isn't John Dorsey putting out a smoke screen in December. Okay,
what this was was Dorsey. I don't think he had
even gotten the job yet, right, and he had said, Man,
I've been watching a lot of Baker Mayfield. Love this kid. Hey,
get get to number ones and a number two slide down,
Get Baker Mayfield. Let the Jets get Darnald. Okay, but

(02:00:23):
if Baker Mayfield is that highly thought of in coaching circles,
do you think you can risk move me down to seven?
Do you put the cap like at five? Maybe? Hold up?
Let me let me let me look at the who
has the top picks? So we think the Giants are
getting Josh Rosen, right, so the Giants get Rose in
it too. I don't think enough other people need quarterbacks.

(02:00:44):
You don't think San Francisco my deal back from the
San Francisco could trade out of it. Well, no, san
Francisco keeps winning it say well, no, okay, So Chicago
does not need a quarterback. They just got true Whisky, right?
Who else is up there? Indian Apolis says Andrew Luck,
They're not taking a quarterback. Cleveland. Oh, Cleveland also has

(02:01:04):
a fourth pick from Houston. So then why would you
trade if you can get the fourth pick and use
it for you want to trade number one, you could
take Mayfield at four, or take him or take him
at seven. Tampa drafting five, they don't they don't need
a quarterback. They have Winston Denver six, So yeah, you
probably well, what if Denver wins. If Denver wins are

(02:01:25):
facing pat maa homes hold up, if and the Jets
lose to the Patriots, the Jets then leap frog Denver.
So the Jets could end up with six and then
Denver seven. So then you can either take Baker at four. Man,
we're getting into the draftway early, but I love this stuff.
But they'd have to move up regardless if you're picking
five or six. You have to imagine there's another team

(02:01:46):
maybe picking nine, ten, eleven, squall that would move up
if they really want a quarterback. To two years ago,
the Rams moved up to one, got their guy. It
looks at this two years later, it is paid off.
They're in the playoffs with Jared Goff. The Eagles trade
up to get Wentz. Look at this two years later,
it's paid off. Now you want to go back an
extra year or or a few extra years. R G

(02:02:08):
three did not work. It's interesting. It's fascinating. We're gonna
have months on end to dissect this, but if you
take nothing away from this show, number one, Lebron is
afraid of the Golden State Warriors. I love the laughter.
And number two, do not worry about Sam Donald. He's
going to be an NFL star. Thanks for listening, Happy

(02:02:28):
New Year later
