Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening to Fox Sports.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
Hello and welcome to Fox Fort Fall Saturday. I am
Tracy Sandler, joined by the lovely Nikki Ka. We've got
Bo Benton, Chris Purfett, and the voice you heard earlier,
Isaac Lohencron Nikki.
Speaker 3 (00:16):
I am just getting my.
Speaker 2 (00:18):
Heart rate back to normal on that Michigan last second
field goal.
Speaker 3 (00:22):
It's not every Saturday, my friends, that you can commit.
Speaker 2 (00:25):
Five turnovers and lose and miss two field goals and
then win.
Speaker 3 (00:30):
But Michigan found a way. Those are my guys, go
low and.
Speaker 4 (00:33):
And we are better as a show because of it.
Speaker 5 (00:35):
I could feel the nerves walking into this studio.
Speaker 4 (00:40):
But that is what college football makes us feel.
Speaker 2 (00:43):
It is one hundred percent what it makes us feel.

we are into week eleven of the NFL season.
Speaker 5 (01:11):
How'd that happen? I? Was looking at you know, just
kind of reviewing teams records, and I was like, what nine.
Speaker 2 (01:16):
And two, nine and two, Nikki is speaking of the
New England Patriots nine.
Speaker 3 (01:22):
And two and so I'm gonna say that.
Speaker 2 (01:24):
When I we were talking about the run of show,
I said, we have to talk about the Patriots because
they are so back. But I think we still don't
know if they're so back. I mean, I know people
talk about the schedule. I feel like you play who
you play.
Speaker 4 (01:35):
I'm just annoyed.
Speaker 3 (01:37):
Are you annoyed?
Speaker 5 (01:38):
Because the Patriots, like are the evil Empire? They've been
there for so long.
Speaker 2 (01:44):
How do you think the Buffalo Bills field right now?
I know, right, you're not happy?
Speaker 4 (01:48):
And I mean just.
Speaker 5 (01:52):
They're like the you know, the superstar stud in high
school who just had everything come so easy and then
they you know, minors zet back here or there and
then before you know it, back on top. Just it's
like like you can't keep those those Patriots down.
Speaker 2 (02:12):
You can't keep those Patriots down. Mike Rabel, I mean,
what a turnaround? I mean, honest, like, what a turnaround
from last year of Mike Frable potentially Coach of the
Year Drake may maybe the MVP, but I want to
talk a little bit about the race for the AFC
because they they're right now, they're half a game ahead
of the Broncos and the Colts for the top seed
(02:33):
through eleven games. This is my thing I was mentioning
earlier though. Through eleven games, they've beaten teams with a
combined record of thirty and fifty four. You play who
you play, but they've beaten the Bills and the Bucks
on the road. They still have at Ravens Home against
the Bills.
Speaker 3 (02:48):
I don't know. I think it's I as a complete outsider,
I think it's kind of funny.
Speaker 2 (02:53):
And if I were the Bills, like you got to
be right, But then I feel like the Bills have
not did not capitalize.
Speaker 5 (02:59):
They didn't and they're still not capitalizing. What's going on
in Buffalo by the way. I mean, I know Miami
was like probably an anomally but but not great right there.
Speaker 2 (03:10):
You're I feel like in an NFL season, you're going
to win a game that you're not supposed to win
and you're going to lose a game or two. You know,
it's like huh, but yeah, to lose to the Dolphins
the way that they lost last week. It's just I
think it's a little bit of a microcosm of where
the Bills are.
Speaker 3 (03:27):
And I know we're going to talk a little bit
more about them later.
Speaker 2 (03:29):
But it's it's not great and you have the Patriots
breathing down their neck. I just keep laughing because I
do think it's funny. I think it's funny. It was
like it was over. Brady was gone, Belichick's gone, it's
the Bills time. There's the Chiefs are now the death team, right,
the dynasty and the AFC and the Patriots like.
Speaker 3 (03:49):
Patriots, so fast, we back, we are so back.
Speaker 5 (03:53):
It's like that's that audio zone.
Speaker 4 (03:55):
Did you miss us?
Speaker 5 (03:56):
It is it's totally okay, guys, you're bad. Ye oh my.
Speaker 4 (04:02):
They are here.
Speaker 5 (04:02):
They are here to make a statement. And I think
just how young that team is too. You know, Rabel
was talking about half of his O line is like
twenty one and twenty two years old.
Speaker 3 (04:13):
Which is so bananas.
Speaker 4 (04:14):
It's crazy.
Speaker 5 (04:16):
And you know, to the turnaround he has manufactured from
back to back losing seasons the too, you know, the
two previous years to where they are now. It puts
him as a firm leader in the clubhouse for Coach
of the Year. Am I olinion?
Speaker 3 (04:34):
I think that's absolutely true.
Speaker 2 (04:36):
Drake May also, just fun facts here, has thrown for
twenty touchdowns to five interceptions. Uh, He's been incredible Thursday night,
sixteen of twenty eight on twenty plus air yards or
five and sixty seven yards five touchdowns without an interception.
I mean, he's been playing unbelievably well. And I would
(04:58):
like to know who had Drake May as an MVV
candidate on their BINGO card to start the season.
Speaker 5 (05:03):
Sure did not?
Speaker 3 (05:04):
Yeah, I sure did not either.
Speaker 2 (05:05):
I don't know who I did have as an MVP candidate,
but it was not Drake May, So I don't know.
Speaker 5 (05:09):
Or how about even like just being the top quarterback
of that class, you know, break up. I mean I
knew there were signs last year, right, he saw his potential.
But for him to come out and have the composure
and the leadership and just kind of the offensive savvy
I think is what I've been most impressed with. He
is and the m P chance did you see hear
(05:33):
those on Thursday night? Yes?
Speaker 3 (05:34):
They sure did.
Speaker 5 (05:36):
Just I mean New England's buzzing.
Speaker 2 (05:39):
New England is buzzing. The rest of the league is like,
You've got to be kidding. New England is buzzing. It'll
be interesting to see what happens in this final stretch
of the season as they head into the playoffs. I
think there are a lot of people that expect them
to go into the playoffs and kind of fall flat
on their face.
Speaker 3 (05:55):
But I don't know that that would be the case.
Speaker 5 (05:57):
And even if they do, it's learning experience, and yeah,
it's with all you know, with all the youth obviously
comes inexperience. So you got to you got to get
your foot and feet wet somehow, Yes, you do.
Speaker 2 (06:09):
And they serves the year there. That is one hundred
percent true. And they've been doing it. This is gonna
be my segue here. They've been doing it with no drama,
unlike the Philadelphia Eagles, who have quite a bit of drama.
This a J Brown situation is getting out of control.
You have Nick Sirianni saying the other day, I'm just
(06:30):
about done answering AJ Brown questions. He didn't get any
more yesterday. Our producer Bo Benson is an Eagles fan.
I would love a Ziarah Biman. What are your thoughts on.
Speaker 3 (06:41):
All of this.
Speaker 6 (06:46):
They have all the problems that you would expect like
the New York Jets to have, except they're actually winning games.
M hmm, It's just it's exhausting. H Diana Rassini reported
this morning that the building is kind of getting tired
of Jalen Hurt's play this year, which I think is
fair because he hasn't been great to me. It all
stems from Sirianni. Like Sirianni is supposed to be the
(07:07):
he's not the Sean McVay Kyle Shanahan like X's and
O's guys. So he's supposed to be the chief Vibes coordinator.
Except the vibes in Philadelphia every year suck while he's
been there.
Speaker 5 (07:16):
The CVC Chief Vibes Coordinator. I'm gonna put that on
my resume.
Speaker 7 (07:21):
He's They're never good.
Speaker 6 (07:23):
I've said for a few years now that Sirianni is
a sneaky, firing candidate, and when they bought him out
again this year, like they're going to because this is
just like twenty twenty three, the year after they lost
the Super Bowl, where they had high expectations but they
never looked right. This year, they just have a defense
that they can kind of rely on to bail them
out of games. But you're not gonna win games in
the NFL scoring ten points correct, And I'm tired of
(07:43):
hearing about how much talent Philadelphia has and they go
out there and they look like, you know, a Division
two college team with the way they play offense. So
AG's right, Like anyone that blames aj for speaking out
is just doesn't know the situation, doesn't know really what
they're talking about, because he's one hundred percent right.
Speaker 5 (08:00):
So two questions. Because Jalen Hurts and I was familiar
with him in his time at Oklahoma, like everywhere he's gone,
the reputation has been he's an exceptional leader, and so
now players are frustrated with his play. And also, why
(08:20):
isn't he chief vibes coordinator? I mean, where's the disconnect
with Hurts? Too?
Speaker 6 (08:26):
Yeah, it's weird. I think at times his personality can
be a real drag.
Speaker 5 (08:32):
I could not agree more with that. It's like it's
too much the It's almost like a Russell Wilson kind
of exactly.
Speaker 2 (08:39):
I think it's too much like, oh, Jalen, you had
a spectacular game.
Speaker 3 (08:42):
Maybe not this year.
Speaker 2 (08:43):
What do you have to say, Well, the cat flies
at midnight and yeah, like.
Speaker 4 (08:47):
A fortune cookie. He is a talking fortune cookie.
Speaker 2 (08:50):
And I think Sirianni is similar different, but I think
he's kind of fraudulent in that.
Speaker 8 (08:54):
I think this is where the Eagles confound as an
organization because like we all know how he Roseman's amazing
very well, he gets they get all this talent. But
this is also the only NFL team where most people
who follow the NFL know the name of the team's
security guard. Oh yes, and in big dam which like it.
(09:14):
It shouldn't get to this point with their leadership. And
yet like Siriani is where he's at right now, you know,
fighting all these people and just as everything both said,
like the value proposition on him is like running thin,
and they keep changing coordinators and I just it's just
so it's so different year to year.
Speaker 7 (09:36):
I just don't know what to do with them.
Speaker 6 (09:37):
And you say all that, but then you still have
to end it by saying that Sirianni is one of
what like five active coaches that have won a Super Bowl,
Like that's what's so frustrating about it.
Speaker 2 (09:47):
Well, and that's the thing, I mean, winning you're the
chief vibes coordinator, and the vibes are going to be high.
Speaker 5 (09:52):
If you continue to win.
Speaker 2 (09:54):
But if they continue to implode and this season just
I mean, I shouldn't say continue to The.
Speaker 8 (10:00):
Eagles have already fired a coach who won a Super
Bowl just within two years of winning it. They've done
this before.
Speaker 5 (10:06):
And what the Philly part of it all is is
that they're winning and the vibe.
Speaker 3 (10:10):
Suck, right, and that is not that is not chiefs chief.
Speaker 4 (10:14):
Yeah, and that's I'm just you're right.
Speaker 5 (10:16):
I know you attributed it to the Jets, but I mean,
like Philly just loves Philadelphia, loves the drama they do.
Speaker 2 (10:23):
But I think that it's wearing thin. It's going to
be an interesting rest of the season. And I totally
agree with you bo. I think he is a sneaky
fire candidate. Like if they in twenty twenty three, you
know that hot start and then they just lost but
pretty much try a game to end the season and
they were out the first round of the playoffs. If
they have a similar situation, I don't know how you
(10:45):
can look at it any differently. And then I think
you look at Jalen Hurts and it feels to me
that the play has regressed over the last three years.
Speaker 3 (10:51):
They've been able to make up.
Speaker 4 (10:53):
For it but mask it a little bit, right.
Speaker 2 (10:55):
But that is problematic too, and so at a certain
point you can only fire so many coordinators and not
be it fun yourself.
Speaker 6 (11:01):
They've they've very clearly coached all aggressiveness out of Jalen Hurts.
He's so scared to like turn the ball over, that
he's not willing to take chances, and you can't. You
can't do that in the NFL. That's that was the
issue with Kaleb Williams last year. They scared, they told
him not to turn the ball over. He played scared.
He's more aggressive this year and he looks one hundred
times better than he did last year.
Speaker 2 (11:21):
So well, and also what a difference a coach makes.
I mean, Caleb Williams has a new coach, Siriani. We've
talked about what we think are some of the deficiencies.
We started this by talking about the Patriots, what Mike
Rabel has done.
Speaker 5 (11:31):
Coaching really matters.
Speaker 2 (11:33):
Players make plays, but coaching matters, especially when it comes
to the quarterback and the vibes. So it'll be interesting
to see what the season looks like I would love
to know Bo and Chris who were your who are
your MVP candidates as we stand right now, So.
Speaker 8 (11:52):
I think I am this is where I'm going to
get into a weird beef.
Speaker 9 (11:56):
I have.
Speaker 8 (11:57):
I hate the argument that the quarterback is somehow only
more valuable as a position than anything else. So I
have a very soft spot right now for Jonathan Taylor
because the numbers he is putting up here, Like I
know Daniel Jones is getting a lot of the pub
because that's what we do with quarterbacks, because it's this
comeback from how he was in New York to suddenly
finding new life in Indianapolis. But Jonathan Taylor is having
(12:18):
an unspeakable year, like we were about once again ready
to talk about him breaking Adrian Peterson's record in an
international game, but with a big.
Speaker 7 (12:28):
Butt on that.
Speaker 8 (12:29):
I do have to say, looking right now, it's hard
to not go in the direction of Drake may On
how well he is playing, and you can point to
him pretty succinctly as the reason why the New England
Patriots are turning it around in this in this year
he's having, He's he's playing at an unbelievable clip, and
I think he's he's probably my one, and then Jonathan
(12:49):
Taylor is like right behind him on the ballot.
Speaker 5 (12:51):
I think, I'm oh, yeah, sorry, No.
Speaker 6 (12:55):
I would say Jonathan Taylor. But given that it's a
quarterbacks league and it's always going to be a quarterback
until we all die this point, it's Matthew Stafford. Yes, yes,
Drake may is the great story. But the Patriots are
going to drop a game eventually, and as long as
the Rams keep winning games, like Stafford is playing the
best he's played in his career right now, and the
(13:15):
Rams already have like two more impressive wins on their
resume than the Patriots have, Like we'll play this season
like beating the Colts and beating or you know, beating
the Colts is fine, and then to really should have
beaten the Eagles, like that's more impressive than anything the
Patriots have actually won outside of maybe the game at Buffalo.
So I think, when all of a sudden done, Stafford
(13:36):
is just gonna have a better resume than Drake May is.
But Drake May is right there at number three.
Speaker 7 (13:41):
For me, I find it.
Speaker 8 (13:42):
I find a stat very fascinating because I think this
weekend Stafford can actually move to one game above five
hundred for his career. He just hit five hundred. I
want to share something because I and I'm trying to
remember the exact number off the top of my head.
I find that even more impressive because in the last year,
after the last year of Jim Calledwell in Detroit, before
(14:04):
they hired Matt Patricia, and what I believe was twenty seventeen,
before the twenty seventeen season, Stafford was four games under
five hundred, and he is only now getting to the
five hundred mark. I just when people talk I've seen
some people talk about the Lions and stuff like, I
just really want to impress about how awful of a
(14:26):
coach Matt Patricia is.
Speaker 7 (14:27):
I just want to do that real quickly.
Speaker 8 (14:28):
As as a Lions fan and someone who does root
for Stafford, and I think my one reservation is I
need to see what's going to happen in November and
December and not get terrified about his health.
Speaker 2 (14:38):
At this point, Well, what a difference of coach makes
I think that's what we could call this first segment,
What a difference of coach make?
Speaker 5 (14:45):
You guys?
Speaker 2 (14:45):
We have so much more, including we're going to talk
more about Buffalo and their game against the Tampa Bay
Buccaneers after the break.

Speaker 2 (16:19):
Nikki, we promised the people more discussion on the Buffalo
bills and talking about the Tampa Bay Buffalo game tomorrow,
big game for both of these teams.
Speaker 5 (16:28):
Also, I'm so pumped for tomorrow's line slate.
Speaker 3 (16:31):
It's a good slate tomorrow.
Speaker 5 (16:32):
There's so many good games and this is one of them,
and both teams are going to be looking for a
big bounce back. I mean, you could argue Buffalo more
so after.
Speaker 4 (16:42):
I don't know what happened in Miami.
Speaker 5 (16:44):
Also, do we think Mike McDaniel trolling fans?
Speaker 4 (16:48):
Was that AI or is that actually him?
Speaker 2 (16:50):
That is a great question that I don't know the
answer so that I'm I'm not sure on that, but
I guess that's worth looking into. You could ironically ask
chat Gibt, I think.
Speaker 4 (17:01):
I think this is a big weather game.
Speaker 5 (17:03):
It is.
Speaker 2 (17:04):
This is a game, as you mentioned, big bounce back game.
The Bills have lost three to the last five, the
Bucks two of their last three.
Speaker 5 (17:11):
That both of these teams need this way.
Speaker 4 (17:13):
Yeah, and the Bucks, no kind.
Speaker 5 (17:15):
I was reading in between the lines of their press
conferences this week, and they know their offense hasn't been
I mean they get out to fast starts and then
it just kind of.
Speaker 2 (17:26):
Well, they have so many Peters out. Yeah, and the
hatches up to you at a certain point.
Speaker 5 (17:30):
Baker Mayfield can only win will so much, right.
Speaker 3 (17:33):
You can only will so much.
Speaker 2 (17:35):
And I think this is the point of the season
where injuries really start to catch up to a team.
No Chris Godwin, no Bucky Irving, injuries along the offensive line,
and it's taking its toll. However, the Bills offense also
not going crazy.
Speaker 3 (17:52):
This is an interesting game. I think you're right.
Speaker 2 (17:54):
I think this is definitely a big weather game. I
don't know who if you had to pick one of
these teams. I know you said in the beginning maybe
the Bills need it more, but I think they're both
kind of dire to be strong, but they both like
they kind of need to win this game.
Speaker 5 (18:09):
Unfortunately, the exactly and the Bills are five and a
half point favorites, which I mean, I'm sure that's the
home field kind of, you know, whether and and like
you said, all the injuries that the Bucks are navigating.
I yeah, it's a it's a big get right game
for how both are looking to move with momentum towards
(18:29):
the postseason here.
Speaker 2 (18:31):
I think so as well. I I kind of think
the Bills are gonna pull this one out.
Speaker 10 (18:35):
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (18:36):
It might be the home field. I think it is
coming off the loss to the Dolphins. Mike McDaniel trolling
or maybe not, if it's a I were to look
more into that, I thought I thought I thought.
Speaker 4 (18:47):
It was real too. I thought it didn't.
Speaker 5 (18:48):
There was some discourse about it being fake, but that
who But if it's a wild fake, it is.
Speaker 2 (18:54):
But isn't this so scary about AI that we're even
having this conversation?
Speaker 5 (18:57):
I'm so out on A it's a it's a scary thing.
Speaker 2 (19:01):
I think in some ways it's great and has a
lot of benefits, but the fact that we're even having
this conversation right now makes me.
Speaker 5 (19:08):
Right that it could be a photo show. I mean,
fan edits get crazy.
Speaker 2 (19:12):
Fan edits do get crazy. It's it's an interesting choice
given where the Dolphins are. But I can also say
see the other argument of like that was a pretty
big win for them, and a talk about we talked
a lot about vibes early in the show. The vibes
are not great in Miami, so that was a big
win for them.
Speaker 5 (19:28):
Are you are you surprised that Buffalo's favored or five
and a half points like that seems kind of like
a big margin.
Speaker 2 (19:37):
It does seem like a big margin. I think it's
the injuries. And since I cover a team that is
dealing with so many injuries.
Speaker 4 (19:44):
And seeing how forty nine injuries, the.
Speaker 2 (19:47):
Forty nine injuries exactly, seeing how that can catch up
to you at this point in the season, I can understand.
I think I think five and a half is actually fair, Okay, I.
Speaker 11 (19:57):
Do, yeah.
Speaker 4 (19:58):
And home field advantage all that.
Speaker 2 (20:00):
Yeah, considered all the things, and you have a team
coming from Florida going to play in Buffalo right in November,
so I think there's a lot of a lot of
things going on there. This league is so funny because
I feel like just a few weeks ago, Carbon and
I were talking about Baker Mayfield is the potential MVP
and all of that, and it's just this is a
This league is funny. This league is so weak to
week this year. If as week to week as we've seen.
Speaker 5 (20:20):
It, let's say he comes out and has a huge performance,
does that put him back in the MVP contention for you?
Speaker 9 (20:27):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (20:27):
I mean I think, to be honest, it's fun to
talk about where we are right now. Well maybe it's
trick made, maybe because Matthew Stafford, which I agree with that,
but we're still only a week eleven. Yeah, and the real,
the real football gets going in November December, so sure,
but I think we still have a while to go.
And as I mentioned a minute ago, it's such a
week league this year that I think it's gonna everything
(20:49):
is gonna come down to the end, I think, including
who steps.
Speaker 3 (20:53):
Up in these last couple of months.
Speaker 5 (20:54):
So I like the friendship between Josh Allen and Baker
Mayfield too, you know, to the top pick in the
twenty eighteen class. And I think Baker was asked about
Alan earlier this week and he goes, yeah, I have
to walk you talking to talk to him. He's so tall,
and Josh Allen retorts, saying that Baker is the type
of guy who wears two golf club gloves on the
(21:16):
on the course, which is you know, apparently big sin.
Speaker 3 (21:19):
Is that a big I'm not a golfer.
Speaker 4 (21:20):
No, it's just kind of a goofy, try hard move.
Speaker 2 (21:24):
I could see Baker doing it. That's not that's not
a knock, right, I don't.
Speaker 5 (21:28):
I think Baker's aura would never have him wearing two
gloves on the golf course. But he could be doing
it as a bit or. Josh could be just finding
the weirdest little niche thing to troll him with, making
up that's a harmless rumor. It's that as far as
that is a harmless room.
Speaker 2 (21:44):
That is about as harmless a rumor as you are
gonna get.
Speaker 3 (21:47):
Who is your pick tomorrow?
Speaker 5 (21:48):
Who do you think? What's this game? I'm gonna go
Tampa Bay, Okayker Baker. I think I'm Baker Baker.
Speaker 3 (21:54):
The I like saying that.
Speaker 5 (21:56):
I used to when I was writing my Highlights in
Oklahoma City. Every time we'd be covering an OU game, which,
by the way, the Sooner's up tend nothing on Alabama
right now. I would incorporate that in my highlights from
time to time. I like it.
Speaker 2 (22:10):
And speaking of highlights, we are going to go get
us to Isaac Lohncron to tell us what is going
on right now in the world.
Speaker 12 (22:17):
Fort Well, Tracy and Nikki the highlight in the sports world.
I was today years old that I learned that wearing
two gloves on a golf course was a thing.
Speaker 5 (22:27):
Same they're eight years old. No, let's not do it.
I'm not encouraging that.
Speaker 7 (22:31):
Well, you know our audience.
Speaker 12 (22:33):
Though, there are discussions after discussions about the etiquette and
merits of wearing two gloves as opposed to one glove
on the Internet, including several on reddits, so we put
that aside for some fresh NFL news on this Saturday.
A short time ago that Detroit Lions placed tight end
Sam Laporta on injured reserve due to a back injury,
(22:54):
Patriots placing starting defensive tackle Milton Williams on injured reserve
due to a high ankle sprain. Multiple out reporting Broncos
running back JK Dobbin's gonna need season ending surgery due
to a ligament injury in his foot. In college football, indeed,
number eleven Oklahoma to a ten to nothing lead at
fourth ranked Alabama about four minutes into the second quarter,
(23:15):
and at the LA Coliseum, Number twenty one Iowa on
top of seventeenth ranked USC fourteen to nothing. They are
just over three minutes into the second quarter there. Earlier,
Number three Texas A and m rallied from a thirty
to three halftime deficit to beat South Carolina thirty one
to thirty. Number eighteen Michigan trailed Northwestern at Wrigley Field
(23:38):
twenty two to twenty one. Of the final seconds, the
Wolverines Dominic Zavada lining up for a thirty one yard
field goal attempt. As we dial in radio station WCSX, snap.
Speaker 7 (23:49):
Is good, the ball is placed down, the kick is up,
and the kid is good.
Speaker 13 (23:55):
Dominic Savada, we'll walk it off in Michigan survives at
Wrigley final score Wolverines twenty four and Northwestern twenty two.
Speaker 12 (24:09):
Truly a home run because Evada split the uprights, kicked
it over the right field bleachers at Wrigley Field and
it landed on Sheffield Avenue. Finally, we have a Virginia
Tech coaching search private plane Venmo update. It all started
when ESPN reported the former Penn State head coach James
Franklin is in the early stages of talks with Virginia Tech.
(24:31):
Now early this morning, Hoky fans on the Virginia Tech
message boards began tracking a private plane flying from State
college to Blacksburg.
Speaker 5 (24:42):
Thought nothing better than college football message.
Speaker 12 (24:45):
Boards that season message boards and flight track, and they
thought James Franklin would be a board. So at Wild
Turkey eighteen sixty nine posted quotes we need boots on
the ground with camera rolling when they land. I would
do it, but one I'm drunk and two I'm in Texas.
Speaker 4 (25:03):
At me, I'm in Texas. That's the second factor.
Speaker 12 (25:06):
He tied pretty well for someone who is allegedly inebriated
at h Mitchell Underscore zero eight chimed in, if someone
can get to Blacksburg and get a picture of who
is on that plane, I'm willing to Venmo one hundred
dollars at big Hoky Guy twelve then took action post
in quote en route as we speak, just passed Gucci Kroger.
(25:30):
Traffic is light. It turns out he was able to
get to the airport in time to get a picture
of the plane landing and find the guy on board.
It was actually a member of the head Coaching Search Committee.
It was not James Franklin MG. But it turned out
that this guy at Big Hokey Guy twelve was going
through some financial problems. And remember I mentioned the fan
(25:52):
willing to Venomo one hundred dollars. It turned out that
Virginia Tech fans for his troubles wound up venmoing this
guy over two thousand dollars. He posted this is life changing.
Speaker 7 (26:03):
I'm in awe.
Speaker 12 (26:04):
I cannot believe the support. So we make fun at
least why we love sports exactly.
Speaker 2 (26:10):
Back to you guys, thank you very much. That is
that is at sports. Sports is just the best and
also the best. Is our first guest today, Lisa Hernandez,
Broncos team reporter, going to talk all things Casey at
Denver and some news today.
Speaker 5 (26:25):
Alisa, welcome to the show.
Speaker 10 (26:28):
I appreciate you guys having me. It's an exciting weekend
here in Denver with Casey coming to town.
Speaker 2 (26:34):
It sure is, and I think first and foremost their
reports JK Domons will have season ending surgery. We knew
he was going to be out tomorrow. Kind of what
does this do to the Broncos offense.
Speaker 10 (26:46):
I mean, yeah, we're still waiting for final confirmation on
those things. The team hasn't really announced anything regarding JK
aside from the fact that he was not going to
play on Sunday, But you know, everybody in the locker
room always has the next man that mentality. Whether you
look at what the Office of Line has been able
to do this year with certain guys going down and
having to step up. But I think with what you've
seen from RJ. Harvey mostly in the you know, pass
(27:08):
and catching game for him, but he's going to have
an opportunity to really shot his running skills and that's
really what they drafted him for, right Like George Payton,
RGM really talked about his vision and what he's been
able to cut and you kind of seen glimpses of that,
but he's been primarily used as a receivers where he's
gotten most of his touchdowns from. But with the backfield
that they're able to have with RG Harvey and potentially
(27:31):
Jelil McLaughlin getting in the mix and Tyler Bday, I
mean they have some guys back there that I think.
I think we'll be okay on off end.
Speaker 5 (27:39):
I think so the Alisa, you know, allays are from
the outside are pegging this game as basically the biggest
in Denver, big biggest regular season matchup in Denver's history
since the Super Bowl, since that season when they won
the Super Bowl. So I guess, what's what's your thoughts
on how this team can meet the moment when the
(28:00):
pressure is cranked up and what are you looking to
see tomorrow?
Speaker 10 (28:05):
Yeah, we've seen what this Bronco has often been doing.
The pressure's on right, whether it's come back and score
thirty three points in the fourth quarter, or to see
a very strong defense in Houston, Texans on the road,
or find that magic late to really kind of beat
the Eagles. I mean, they've found a way to handle
all kinds of pressures throughout the season. The reason I'm
excited for this game though, and you're right, like the
(28:28):
I think the players, the fan base, everyone is excited
for the game because everybody knows, regardless of Casey's record,
you have to go through KC to win the division.
I mean, even with the way that things look right
now with them being in third, Church being in second,
the Broncos holding on top. At the end of the day,
it's still Kansas City and everyone so recognizes that, and
I think.
Speaker 9 (28:46):
They know, like it doesn't matter.
Speaker 10 (28:48):
We have to prove that we can play against them.
And when you go back to that game in Kansas
City where Bonix his.
Speaker 9 (28:54):
Rookie year, goes on the road, has.
Speaker 10 (28:56):
The potential to knock that off and ruin their winning streak.
Speaker 9 (28:59):
Obviously that blockfield will.
Speaker 10 (29:01):
Delive them from doing that. But now it's your chance
to really show kind of how you measure up against
the champs. I mean, they've gone they've won the AFC
West for multiple years. The last time that there was
someone that was not the Chiefs to win the AFC
West was the Broncos back in twenty fifteen. So it
is something that it's like it's there for the taking
and they are in a prime position right now to
really make a big statement with this win. And I
(29:23):
think for bo Nicks going into this game, the way
he's been handling the criticism, the way he's been able
to really galvanize his guys, when I tell you, there's
no doubt about the ability of what he can do
in that locker room. I mean it. I mean the
guys absolutely respect him. They know that he's the leader.
And when you talk to Teleno Haafungsa, who's the newest
member of the Broncos team, playing from the forty nine ers,
(29:44):
he mentioned like Bonnix was a big reason why I
came here, and I think people forget that sometimes, but
that's the guy that's going to go out there and
I think play a really good game on Sunday.
Speaker 2 (29:51):
I want to talk a little bit about the pass
rush because the Broncos have made plus thirty five sack differential,
the largest by anything for the first ten game this
season in NFL history. I mean, it's really it's a
tremendous number. When I was doing my notes, I was like,
am I reading that right?
Speaker 3 (30:06):
Plus or device? It's pretty tremendous.
Speaker 2 (30:08):
Could you just talk about this pass rusher and what
they've been able to do this season?
Speaker 10 (30:12):
I mean, this pass russ is incredible, and I think
when you look at the diamonds in the rough that
this Broncos team has been able to find. Whether it's
the seventh round with Johnson Franklin late in the second
I believe for Nick Bonito and I think you you
kind of have these guys come in and work there,
you know, work the program by into the culture, and
it's paying off. I mean the Broncos did that by
(30:33):
resigning Johnson Cooper last year, sign Nick Benito this year
is signing Zach Allen. Like they know the guys they
have in this pass rush and when you look, they
rank first and pretty much every category you want to
ring first in sacks, I believe QB hits, QB pressures,
QB pressure percentage, and the Broncos have three They have
three players with six plus sacks. I was reading a
stat when I was prepping for this call, and the
(30:56):
Broncos defense has three players with six plus sacks, nine
players with two plus and fourteen players with at least
one fact. So when I tell you it is a
complete unit that plays off of each other, I mean
they want everyone to win. There's a trend that they
have going that it doesn't matter who gets the fact
that we tend to do the other players celebration with
them or and things like that, and so they're having
fun where there's JFM kicking out the door or Zach Gallen,
(31:19):
you know, blowing kiss to the sky. They have these
moments and you can see they really love playing with
each other. And so you look at when Nick Bonito
and Zach Gallen are able to do when it comes
to pressuring the quarterback, what Jonathan Cooper is able to
do when it comes to really get after them and
gain the fact. I mean it's kind of hard, you know.
You look at how Patrictann has been out for a
few weeks, and as quickly as they're getting to the
(31:40):
quarterback these you know, the secondary only has the court
for just a quick second because next thing you know,
that quarterbacks on the ground. So this, this Broncos pass
rush is one of the best that we've seen in
a long time. And they're definitely I think they're making
the No Fight Zone really proud. And obviously we know
that was a team that won in the Super Bowl
back in twenty fifteen.
Speaker 5 (32:00):
You know, I love with these teams and you kind
of touched on it. They're the winning teams. They have
that chemistry, like an aura of chemistry around them. Right
We're talking about Philadelphia earlier in the show, where drama
and the vibes just seem off. So you being boots
on the ground around this group what's special, Like what
(32:20):
sets this group apart from other teams you've covered in
the past.
Speaker 10 (32:25):
I think what sets them apart is they they understand
what's at stake. They understand, you know, what it means
to really kind of bring that championship go back to Denver.
But I think they're they're learning to enjoy the process,
and I think that's a big part of it.
Speaker 11 (32:42):
Right.
Speaker 10 (32:42):
Obviously, they've gone through a lot of coaching change over
the last couple of years, and Sean Payton comes in
and every single guy is buying into it, and all
the new guys, all the rookies that are coming in,
they're getting they're learning from some veterans in there that
are saying like, hey, buy into this, Like this is
we're playing for each other. And I think if you
go to any of the America's games right that are
films on NFL Films or NFL Network, the common I
(33:06):
guess storyline in those in those documentaries is we're playing
for each other and that like we're like, yes, if
the super Bowl comes, that's what We're not playing for
a super Bowl. We're playing for that guy next to us.
And when you talk to the legends in the building,
the rod Smith, the Ed mccaffreys, they all say the
same and they're like, that's what we're noticing. And when
you go in the locker room, even after a loss
or even after a you know, really like gritty win
(33:27):
as they did on Thursday Night football, the guys in
there are just like, yeah, we have to do better,
and they want to play for the guy next to them,
and they don't just want to be good on offense
because we're going to score in real points, Like, no,
we need to go to offense because our defense is
out there playing very very good that we need to
hold up our side of the bargain. So when you
when you see just the camari they have there's they're
so unselfish. Everyone's a leader in that room, and even
(33:49):
the guys that aren't captains serve as a different kind
of leader. So it's a good thing to see. And
I think you learn more from the losses of this
team than the wins. And the way they've been able
to battle back from those two tough losses adusticles in
the charges. I mean, you've seen it here with this
winsticks they've been able to go on.
Speaker 2 (34:04):
They are a fun team to watch Tomorrow should be
a great game, Lisa, thank you so much for joining us.
Good luck tomorrow, and you guys, we will be back
with your dues and your donts. Don't go anywhere, Fox
Football Saturday.
Speaker 1 (34:17):
See.
Speaker 2 (34:17):
The thing with the music is that I'm always shoulder
shaking and dancing when we come in, and I forget
that I'm supposed to start talking because I'm busy dancing,
shoulders shaking a little bit, jimmy, a little shimmy.
Speaker 5 (34:29):
I think this is what we call chief vibes coordinator
here in Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (34:34):
Yeah, chief vibes coordinator. Way to go, Chris, chief vibes coordinator.
Speaker 7 (34:38):
First time people have said about me and.
Speaker 5 (34:42):
Come on, you whip up some of my ties. You
got the music going. You are the chief vibes coordinators.
Speaker 7 (34:48):
It's true.
Speaker 3 (34:49):
Yeah, they think it's totally fair.
Speaker 2 (34:50):
Speaking of vibes, let's see what the dues and the
don't start today.
Speaker 10 (34:56):
High.
Speaker 1 (34:57):
I love that putting a spotlight.
Speaker 7 (34:59):
On the dome.
Speaker 5 (35:00):
The subject brings me no joy.
Speaker 9 (35:03):
That's insane.
Speaker 1 (35:04):
It's time for the dues and the don'ts in sports Nikki.
Speaker 5 (35:08):
I'm going to start with you, my friend. I'm to
say don't call a J. Brown misunderstood. He's made it
very clear he has understood. Yeah, he has understood. It's
time to stop calling him misunderstood. We know, we know
what he's feeling at all times.
Speaker 3 (35:25):
I think that's a you know what, that's a really
good point.
Speaker 5 (35:28):
And I think you know and I feel like we
use that term for people a lot when we say
they're misunderstood.
Speaker 3 (35:34):
But you're right, very understood. We definitely know what he's feeling.
Speaker 2 (35:36):
To his credit, as we talked about earlier with Boe,
we know exactly his feeling and feelings are probably correct.
I mean they're his feelings, so they're correct no matter what.
But I can agree.
Speaker 3 (35:46):
With his feelings.
Speaker 5 (35:47):
That is so empathic of you.
Speaker 4 (35:50):
I do think we feel what we feel.
Speaker 2 (35:54):
We feel what we feel, and no one could tell
you otherwise otherwise.
Speaker 5 (35:58):
And well, I feel like I've I feel it.
Speaker 3 (36:00):
I've had that before where I.
Speaker 2 (36:02):
Might be upset about something and someone says, well, don't
be upset. It's like, you can't tell me not to
be upset.
Speaker 3 (36:06):
I'm upset.
Speaker 2 (36:07):
You have to let me be upset, right, feel it right?
And then so AJ, we got you, We got you.
We believe in you, and we understand.
Speaker 4 (36:13):
We understand you. There is no misunderstanding here.
Speaker 3 (36:17):
No, there is no misunderstanding. Plus his heart for that.
Speaker 5 (36:20):
I love it.
Speaker 2 (36:20):
Thank you, aj all right, My my do is not
football related, but it is dog related. And I think
anybody listen to me knows how I feel about dogs.
Speaker 5 (36:30):
Do let your dogs steal the show?
Speaker 3 (36:33):
No pun intended.
Speaker 2 (36:34):
Sho hey Otani was named the nl MVP this week
Aaron Judge the al MVP, and I think one could
make the argument, and it's not even argument that both
men's dogs stole the show of the announcements and it
was amazing.
Speaker 5 (36:50):
Okay. I didn't know if anyone else picked up on
this because I was looking an online discourse and I didn't.
Speaker 4 (36:54):
See any commentary on it.
Speaker 5 (36:55):
But I was dying because when show Hay was announced,
he leaned over his wife holding his decoy. Uh huh,
and instead of.
Speaker 2 (37:04):
Going in for the kiss you know with his wife
or cheek goes.
Speaker 5 (37:07):
Into kiss his dog, he does, he went into kids.
Was like a man who has priorities.
Speaker 2 (37:13):
And I think, and I think everybody accepted it has
become quite the meme. Y, it is pretty funny. I
was thinking if I were named the nl MVP, which
would be a big.
Speaker 5 (37:22):
Surprise to a lot of people for a lot of reasons.
Speaker 4 (37:25):
I mean, never counts yourself out.
Speaker 2 (37:27):
Yeah, I think it'd be a big surprise that I appreciate,
I appreciate you understanding me. I would probably lead it
and kiss my dogs too. But that was really really funny,
and the look on Decoy's face.
Speaker 5 (37:39):
Even Decoy seemed surprised.
Speaker 2 (37:41):
I was like, Okay, He's like, okay, fine, all right,
you doing here?
Speaker 10 (37:44):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (37:44):
But Dcoy actually deca over the years of all the
MVP announcements that he's been there for, his reactions have
been pretty expected.
Speaker 4 (37:51):
Ever forget your day ones right never.
Speaker 2 (37:53):
And Dcoy was there three years ago, high five, last year,
jumped off the couch, and then this year was there
for the kiss mine.
Speaker 5 (38:01):
Okay, this is another don't. And we have Texas Tech
wamping UCAF right now on one of our TVs.
Speaker 3 (38:07):
Oh yeah, we sure do.
Speaker 5 (38:08):
I was distraught to learn that a couple of weeks
ago Texas Tech bands the throwing of tortilla is on
the field.
Speaker 4 (38:16):
From the student section. So in Lobock, Texas.
Speaker 5 (38:20):
Their games are insane. The crowd. I have been there
for the Texas Tech Oh you games, the famous ones
between Patrick Mahomes.
Speaker 4 (38:29):
And Baker Mayfield.
Speaker 5 (38:30):
Insane atmosphere, the guy's black pete and the fans are crazy.
They're almost like, you know, equivalent of what a Philadelphia
fan base. Okay, right, no offense, there's chance with exploitives
in the men, I mean whatever, you know, that's that's there.
Speaker 3 (38:45):
They're the things.
Speaker 5 (38:46):
But the fans throw tortillas on the field, and that's
part of the beauty of the sport. So my thing is,
don't don't lose the plot.
Speaker 4 (38:54):
Don't take away the brilliance of this sport. We love
so much.
Speaker 5 (38:57):
The reddit threads, the pageantry of college fall. Let them
throw tortillas. Let them throw tortillas.
Speaker 3 (39:04):
That feels like let them eat cake. Let them throw sorts.
Aren't gonna hurt anybody, no, I.
Speaker 5 (39:10):
Mean, they do get a little hustile. There's some batteries
sometimes in there. But you know, the tortillas are harmless.
Speaker 3 (39:15):
The tortillas are harmless.
Speaker 4 (39:17):
Lets the tortillas.
Speaker 3 (39:18):
Side note, I love the tortilla.
Speaker 5 (39:19):
Oh my gosh, have you had the giata chicken seesear rap?
Speaker 4 (39:23):
No best tortilla.
Speaker 2 (39:24):
In la Okay, I'm gonna have to do. Try the
Piata chicken.
Speaker 4 (39:29):
Seaatto are looking for your sponsors, by the way.
Speaker 3 (39:32):
Yeah, the try the rap yum. That sounds delicious. I
have another do do have fun with your teammates.
Speaker 2 (39:39):
Luca Doncik and Austin Reeves have this thing going right
now that I think is just really really fun meme
the exciting whites. And I know there's the egos. Yeah, yeah,
the egos.
Speaker 5 (39:51):
It's like Austin and Luca are like bestis and then
and the Twitter just it's pretty funny.
Speaker 4 (39:56):
They might be the best backcourt in the NBA right now.
Speaker 5 (39:59):
But they might be. Yeah, they very well, Harry, and
then you add in. I think there's one point in
the Charlotte game it's like you put like Jake, Laurabia Dalton,
connect Luca, Austin. You know there's just a lot of
white guys.
Speaker 2 (40:11):
Yeah, it's up. They've been fun all right. Before we go,
one more, do do use your platform. Matt Collins the
other night arrived to THURSDA Night Football with a T
shirt with the number for the suicide Crisis line in
the message, it's okay not to be okay, So do
use your platform for good and with that we will
be back for our two lots more NFL to go.
(40:35):

Speaker 5 (40:58):
Yes, we'd southern California getting all the wet weather in
the nation.

Yes, we certainly are.

(41:24):
Saturday and Sunday morning right here on Fox Sports Radio
and the iHeartRadio app. Nikki, you mentioned last hour that
the slate this weekend on NFL games is tremendous and
we are going to continue previewing a couple of games.
I actually want to start with the Lions at the Eagles,
(41:45):
and I have a fun fact for you.
Speaker 4 (41:47):
Are you ready hit me?
Speaker 2 (41:49):
Since Dan Campbell took over for the coaching the Lions
in twenty twenty one, the Eagles are the only NFC.
Speaker 3 (41:56):
Team that the Lions have not beat.
Speaker 5 (41:59):
Wow.
Speaker 3 (42:00):
Oh, there is a fun fact.
Speaker 2 (42:03):
It feels like if we were in a like a
movie or TV show this is fast forward, this narrator
would be like.
Speaker 5 (42:10):
They have now beat all the NFC teams or at
the end of the game tomorrow.
Speaker 3 (42:12):
However, it's gonna be a tall task.
Speaker 5 (42:14):
We've talked.
Speaker 2 (42:15):
We talked in the first hour about the Eagles and
the offense somewhat sputtering, but their defense has been tremendous.
They get Nolan Smith back tomorrow, they have Jalen Phillips,
who was great in his first game.
Speaker 3 (42:27):
As an Eagle.
Speaker 2 (42:28):
This is a This, this one, I feel like will
tell me whether or not the Eagles are for real? Right?
Speaker 5 (42:35):
And also, you know, the winner of this has the
chance of being the number.
Speaker 4 (42:40):
One seed in the NFC.
Speaker 5 (42:42):
So I it is kind of like a fork in
the road, right, or at least I think we'll look
at this as a fork in the road later, younger
in the season. I'm really looking at how Detroit's passing
attack is going to match up with Philly's secondary, so it.
Speaker 4 (43:01):
It will be a good one.
Speaker 5 (43:03):
I I don't know if I'm expecting a high scoring
affair though, you know what, that's interesting that you said that.
Speaker 2 (43:09):
I don't know that I am expecting a high scoring
affair either, And I this might sound like a weird
thing to say. I think if it's a high scoring affair,
it's going to be the Lions putting up a lot
of points on the Eagles. But if it's a close thing,
I think it's not a high scoring affair, if that
makes sense, right, And that may not be expert analysis,
but it's my thought.
Speaker 3 (43:26):
It's my feeling.
Speaker 5 (43:27):
Well, I think when you look at the quarterback play
that's going on in Philadelphia right now, it doesn't give
you a lot of hope.
Speaker 3 (43:35):
No, it does not give it.
Speaker 2 (43:37):
Though you do have a Lions team that again is
dealing with a number of injuries in their secondary, which
will make it interesting.
Speaker 5 (43:45):
We'll see also if they listen to a G. Brown,
I know, more involved in the offense.
Speaker 4 (43:49):
BO, do you have any thoughts on this one.
Speaker 2 (43:52):
Bo is our resident Eagles expert here at Fox Football Saturday.
Speaker 3 (43:56):
We want to hear what you have to say.
Speaker 6 (43:58):
Well, you also have a Lions expert next to me
here too.
Speaker 4 (44:01):
Do we have to showdown?
Speaker 7 (44:03):
Oh my gosh, control room divided?
Speaker 6 (44:06):
Yeah, the Eagles are gonna get smacked tomorrow.
Speaker 5 (44:09):
Oh smack.
Speaker 4 (44:10):
I kind of am with you.
Speaker 5 (44:12):
I see there's just too.
Speaker 6 (44:12):
Much drama this week, and you can see it in
Syriani's press conference. He doesn't want to talk about A J.
Brown anymore.
Speaker 7 (44:17):
But too bad.
Speaker 6 (44:18):
Like it's a topic of conversation because of your ineptitude
and hiring offensive coordinators, so you should answer those questions.
But I just think there's no good vibes going on
in Philadelphia right now.
Speaker 2 (44:29):
Before we get to Chris, I just wish Bo that
you were in one of those practice press conferences and said,
I'm sorry, you don't want to answer any questions, but
it's because of your inaptitude and hiring offensive coordinators.
Speaker 3 (44:39):
So here we go. That would have been just spectacular.
All right, Chris?
Speaker 5 (44:42):
Do you agree?
Speaker 3 (44:43):
Do your Lions smack down the Eagles?
Speaker 7 (44:46):
I don't know if SmackDown is the right word.
Speaker 4 (44:48):
I do know.
Speaker 8 (44:48):
We just saw Sam Laporta go to the ir and
as always, the Lions are kind of battling injuries this
time of year. The biggest storyline of Detroit right now
is that last game, Dan Campbell took overplay duties from
John Mooreton, the offensive coordinator, who a big difference between
him and Ben Johnson. Morton's up in the booth. Ben
Johnson was down on the field. You now Dan Campbell's
(45:10):
called plays before. It went a lot smoother against the Commanders.
But I'm always kind of pushing back a little bit
with with some fans about this stuff because it's like,
all right, well that's the Commanders, and you got what
you wanted to do in the other games where John
Morton's play calling wasn't a problem. You got the ground
game going, and you kept Jared Goff clean in the pockets.
(45:30):
So that's that's ultimately, I think the big thing for
the Lions. If they can you know, run the ball
and keep the and keep Jared Goff up right, then
everything's great. They will start scoring points and bunches. But
if Jared Goff has thrown off his game, it kind
of like really devolves in a kind of an ugly way,
like we saw against the Vikings, like we saw against
(45:51):
a couple other I think it was the Buccaneers. No, wait, no, no,
it was it was the Chiefs game. It was the
Chiefs game. Sorry, I'm like confusing teams in my head.
It's just it's I'm still trying to figure out who
the Lions are this year because it's just there. There's
there's weaknesses to the Lions as they're working out this
(46:13):
young offense, interior of the offensive line. It's not something
you can really afford. I think with people talk about
them being the best team in the league. They they've
got a lot of good talent for it, but it's
just they there's also points of weakness on them that
are very clear right now and probably gonna hurt them.
So like in the in the grand scheme of things,
like you need a good game over the Eagles. I
(46:34):
don't know if you'll beat them down, but you kind
of need a good game. You need to show that
Dan Campbell can keep calling these plays and you need
to show that, like against a good defense in the Eagles,
because whatever problems they're having right now, that front seven
is still awesome. So like, you know, just to not
you know, just to run a clean game win in Philadelphia,
which I don't think the Lions have been to Philadelphia
(46:54):
in a good long while.
Speaker 7 (46:56):
On top of everything else too.
Speaker 2 (46:57):
So that you bring up such a good point of
that defensive front. It is tremendous. It's the only thing
that gives me pause in wondering if it will in
fact be a SmackDown.
Speaker 3 (47:07):
But I do think Bo, you are correct.
Speaker 2 (47:09):
There's been so much drama and no matter what, no
matter what anybody says, it is a distraction. It's hard
for it not to be. So, bo, I pose the
following question to you. Should the Eagles be smacked down
tomorrow or even lose like a heartbreaker? Is this the
beginning of the end of their season?
Speaker 5 (47:26):
Is this the fork in the road?
Speaker 1 (47:27):
Is this?
Speaker 3 (47:28):
Am I being dramatic? I love being dramatic.
Speaker 6 (47:30):
I mean, I don't think they're gonna win a playoff
game anyway, So I don't know if this is the
beginning of the end.
Speaker 7 (47:35):
Okay, it's just not going to get any better. Okay,
that's the thing.
Speaker 6 (47:40):
They have to go out tomorrow and they really got
to score like twenty eight points, probably thirty five points
to quiet down anything. But they haven't done that all year.
Speaker 5 (47:50):
And I was gonna say ye Now, I was gonna say,
do you do you have confidence that?
Speaker 6 (47:54):
None? None?
Speaker 4 (47:55):
This is why you have a ram tat on. I'm
sorry if I'm bl Yeah.
Speaker 6 (47:58):
No, Honestly, this whole week is just and exhausting to
read about and to see AJ Brown. I saw the
the AJ Brown said something on twitch headline and I
was just like, all right, whatever, I'm I'm checking out
for the week fair. So yeah, no, it's not.
Speaker 2 (48:13):
The Rams Rams family. The ramilly welcomes you with open arms.
I kind of like the idea that you're wearing that
Rams hat is like a show of defiance the egos,
like this is what you've done to me. Guys, I
am now a Los Angeles Rams Spanish person. Fanish person.
I just made up that term.
Speaker 5 (48:30):
Yeah they'll go with that, sure, yeah, Fantish person. I
do think by virtue of living in Los Angeles, if
you're not from here originally and you have your OG teams,
the teams that are acceptable to jump on are the
Dodgers and the Rams. For some reason, I think that's
it's fun to be a Dodger fan when the Dodgers
(48:50):
are winning.
Speaker 2 (48:51):
Well, this this is a Dodgers town. Yeah, Lakers very
close second, but this is as I think.
Speaker 5 (48:56):
Lakers are one one in LA and Dodgers are one two.
Speaker 3 (49:01):
I think that's interesting.
Speaker 5 (49:02):
But we're also in the midst of back to back
world series, that is correct. So I think when the
Lakers are good, it's you know, at the Kobe Connection,
I think, yeah, where, But we're the Dodgers now winning
and being as dominant as they have been.
Speaker 4 (49:17):
Could But but I do.
Speaker 5 (49:19):
In talking to people who are not from here because
I grew up both Lakers and Dodgers fans. When people
moved to LA, they say, you know, I don't mind
jumping on the Dodger bandwagon. I don't feel like it's
sacrilege because you know. And then I think the Rams,
because they are.
Speaker 3 (49:36):
In they're a relatively new team.
Speaker 5 (49:38):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, I mean, obviously they have their roots, but.
Speaker 4 (49:42):
It makes sense to me.
Speaker 5 (49:43):
I don't know. I wouldn't accuse anyone.
Speaker 6 (49:45):
I will say the Dodgers parades were very cool. They
do not hold a candle to the Lakers parades back
in the two thousands when they went or whatever it was.
Speaker 4 (49:55):
Yeah, this show.
Speaker 7 (49:56):
I was insane. Yeah can you dig it? Yeah?
Speaker 6 (49:58):
People flipping over cop car is like probably millions of
people out in the streets. It's a Lakers town. But
the Dodgers winning back to back is huge out here too.
Speaker 3 (50:06):
Well, I am.
Speaker 2 (50:07):
It's funny because I'm from here and I do love
the Lakers, but I don't love any sports team except
maybe Michigan football like I love the Dodgers.
Speaker 3 (50:16):
So in my head it is Tracy's in.
Speaker 4 (50:18):
Dodger lamb I am.
Speaker 3 (50:20):
I am the same Dodgers town.
Speaker 6 (50:21):
Yeah, yeah, I'm the same way, Like the Dodgers are
my number one team all around. But it's definitely Lakers.
People go nuts out here when the Lakers are good.
Speaker 5 (50:30):
They do.
Speaker 2 (50:30):
It's one of my colleagues actually, we were talking about
it and I said, yeah, I am a Lakers fan,
but not like I am a Dodgers fan. He said,
I don't think anyone would have the capacity to be
a fan of anything else the way you are a
fan of the Dodgers, like you would have to.
Speaker 3 (50:43):
Just that's like your number one.
Speaker 4 (50:44):
Where did your forty nine Ers connection come from?
Speaker 2 (50:47):
I grew I'm not a four Irish fan anymore, but
I because I cover the team and we're unbiased all that,
but I so I called it connection.
Speaker 3 (50:54):
I appreciate that.
Speaker 2 (50:55):
I really liked Joe Montana and Steve Young, so that's
how it started. But that kind of his I mean,
I still like Chamontana Cbong, but that that's kind of is.
But that was how the connection is. There are actually
a fair amount more than you'd think Dodgers and forty
nine ersh Yeah, even though people consider it like the
most sacrileg thing. I have people say to me all
(51:18):
the time. I ignore it, but all the time will
say to me, like, you can't be a forty nine
ers beat reporter and like the Dodgers get out of here,
and I that doesn't make any sense.
Speaker 3 (51:29):
It doesn't make make sense.
Speaker 7 (51:30):
That's a job.
Speaker 3 (51:31):
That's a job.
Speaker 6 (51:32):
You can't be a forty nine Ers fan and a
Dodgers fan. I think you're the worst kind of person
if you're that kind of person. If you are sitting
if you're sitting at home wearing forty nine Ers stuff,
chanting beat La when they play the Rams, you cannot
turn around and you can't see to La when you're
watching the Dodgers. I don't accept that I disregard that entirely.
Speaker 2 (51:53):
Well, I am going to give myself a break because
I would do that when I was like thirteen.
Speaker 5 (51:57):
Yeah that's so, But now as an adult, full grown
all that, I don't like that you'll find I feel
like you'll find teens now where you know, and especially
now with the way fandom has evolved in the NBA.
You're fans of players, not necessarily so, like it is
weird when you see Steph Curry fans, but it also
makes sense. And then Golden stated, so an attachment attachment
(52:20):
now means a little bit different, especially when you're you're
a kid. You've become fixated on one thing and that
hooks you in.
Speaker 2 (52:27):
Yeah, I mean, and now I'm a Viking Sam because
of JJ McCarthy, So.
Speaker 6 (52:32):
Yeah, I mean I'm an Eagles fan because McNabb was
on the cover of Madden.
Speaker 3 (52:37):
I mean, there are worst reasons to become a fan.
Speaker 4 (52:39):
I think did have a time where I was torn.
Speaker 5 (52:43):
I mean, my dad raised me in a Laker household, right,
But I saw Michael Jordan in Space Jam.
Speaker 3 (52:50):
And the song.
Speaker 5 (52:51):
I mean, sometimes I dream Michael.
Speaker 4 (52:53):
Jordan being the best to ever play the game.
Speaker 5 (52:55):
He was was in space chair with bugs Bunny and
Bla Devap. I love.
Speaker 3 (53:02):
I loved Vlady de Vac.
Speaker 5 (53:04):
I why, I don't know, he's so cool.
Speaker 10 (53:09):
Love.
Speaker 4 (53:10):
Okay, cigarettes are cool. I'm not saying I.
Speaker 2 (53:11):
Don't know, but when you were a kid, like I
absolutely loved Vladay Devac.
Speaker 3 (53:16):
It's so funny.
Speaker 2 (53:17):
And now I absolutely love Luca don Chick, and I
loved him when he was in the mat talk about players.
I loved Luca when he was in the MAVs, but
I'm a Lakers fan. When he came to Lakers May
I just personally think Nico Harrison, like, thank you for
making my life so much easier.
Speaker 3 (53:31):
I had one mav shirt. I don't have it anymore.
Speaker 5 (53:33):
It's gone. What did you make of Nico's firing this week?
I mean, I know it's it's a football time, but
that was it was like, okay, it was it was.
Speaker 3 (53:41):
The whole thing is weird. Honestly, I think there's so
much weirdness.
Speaker 5 (53:44):
But I I think, why why was it now?
Speaker 3 (53:47):
I mean, but why now? I don't know.
Speaker 5 (53:49):
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (53:50):
I don't know if it's why now because Luca is
having like an historic start to the season and.
Speaker 5 (53:54):
AD is its increasingly injured.
Speaker 2 (53:56):
Yeah, so I don't know if that's why now, but
I don't know, but it was a little bit odd.
It was like really, yeah, it was strange. And then
it was interesting to me that it did cause such
a media wave.
Speaker 5 (54:07):
I mean, the NBA knows how to make a mountain
out of a mole hill when it comes to media
cycle storylines and stuff. So I'm not surprised, but I
was like, why is this? I mean, but it is.
Speaker 3 (54:21):
It is interesting.
Speaker 2 (54:22):
I think within the Lucas start of the season at AD,
I think put it all together and it becomes a storyline.
Speaker 5 (54:28):
Fans hostility was getting worse and worse from what I
understand over there.
Speaker 2 (54:32):
So you guys, we have more to talk about Seahawks
at rams. We're going to talk to our guest Bridge
at Condon. But next we're going to talk a little
bit about trades in the NFL and what's working and
what's not. So stay right where you are. This is
Fox Football Saturday. Still shoulders shaking.
Speaker 5 (54:47):
Hey, Prah, Prah, I've always wanted to do that on air.
Speaker 3 (54:52):
You did a great job.
Speaker 5 (54:52):
Congratulated. Shoot, well, what the iHeartRadio happ You can stream
us and our brat wherever you happen to be. Catch
us in all of our Fox Sports Radio shows live
twenty four to seven in the new and improved iHeartRadio app.
Just search Fox Sports Radio in the app to stream

(55:14):
select Fox Sports Radio as one of your presets in
the iHeart app so it'll always pop up at the
top of your screen.
Speaker 2 (55:22):
Nikki, I want to talk trades, NFL trades trade SAT. Yeah,
that'll be I think this will be fun. Well, I
hope it's fun. You guys can tell us on social media.
But the trade deadline is coming gone in the NFL. Okay,
I was the there were some off season trades. Obviously,
that Michael Parsons one was a big one. I have
a I don't know if it's a hot take, a
(55:45):
lukewarm take, maybe a warm take.
Speaker 5 (55:47):
Okay, good, because I kind of have a take too.
Speaker 2 (55:48):
Okay, am I kind of a scorching take. Okay, So
here's my here's a take I have. I think the
Jets may have won the trade deadline, but the moves
that they made, wow to revamp their team. They let
go of some great players. So it's not, and I
understand that, and I'm not saying that those players aren't fantastic,
(56:08):
but they're in a new era. They're changing things around.
They may have done things to improve their team.
Speaker 5 (56:15):
Time will tell.
Speaker 2 (56:17):
I will not be able to be proven wrong or
right on this probably for a few years, but there
is my maybe it does a scorching take.
Speaker 5 (56:23):
I love that because I'm at the point where you
know where I told you I am tired of the
Patriots being on top.
Speaker 3 (56:32):
Which is so funny because you had a break for it.
Speaker 4 (56:34):
Right for an exactly.
Speaker 5 (56:36):
But I'm also I just feel bad for Jets fans.
I feel bad for Jets fans. I love a world
in which the Sauce Gardener exit actually brings some something good.
Speaker 2 (56:52):
For everyone, because now Sauce Gardener gets to go to
a contending team the Colts, and potentially win in the
play get to the playoffs, and then win in the playoffs,
which was certainly not going to happen on the Jets
and not probably not for the foreseeable future. No matter
what what they're who were they able to draft, And
it's good, I think for the Jets. That's kind of
(57:13):
my feeling on that.
Speaker 5 (57:14):
So that is a bit of a that was a
hot take? What is your hot take? I think just
by virtue of football being football, with how big rosters are,
and coming from a place where I've invested a lot
of emotional capital in NBA trade deadline season, where you
(57:37):
just drop your phone and you're like, holy heck, luka,
Doncic is a Los Angeles Laker. To me, NFL trade
deadline just doesn't really It's not like a it's not
on my calendar.
Speaker 3 (57:52):
Well, I think that's I think that's interesting.
Speaker 2 (57:55):
So I think for like for covering an NFL team,
it is so deep on the calendar. And I think
it also is I get what you're saying. I think
the NBA trade deadline becomes like kind of everybody is
paying attention, even sometimes baseball.
Speaker 5 (58:10):
Football.
Speaker 2 (58:11):
You have to be in it to know it. Yes,
as a beat reporter, it is a big day. Though
record Iers didn't do anything that day, they did make
a trade the week before. It was huge a fe
years ago when they got McCaffrey a few days the
trade deadline, and I think with the NFL that's what
it ends up being.
Speaker 5 (58:26):
This year.
Speaker 2 (58:26):
I think it got a lot of publicity because of
the Sauce Garter trade, and then the dad telling his son,
but he got traded, and that was so sad and
he was crying. And then Sauceguarter sent the jerseys and
the whole thing. So it became like this big thing.
But you're right, it doesn't have the same thing, which
is interesting actually, because I feel like the NFL is
the sport where people are most engaged the entire season,
(58:50):
whereas baseball people start to get engaged in the also
after they all Star break, and then really in September
in the playoffs. And in basketball the same kind.
Speaker 5 (58:58):
Of thing because it's eighty two games, yes.
Speaker 2 (59:00):
Because there's more gas. But you're right, the trade deadline
doesn't follow that. And the NFL does such a good
job of making everything of production.
Speaker 5 (59:07):
It's kind of amazing the NFL took Christmas from the NBA.
Speaker 2 (59:10):
It's sure the NFL did take That's a future children's
book the NFL. The nfls, oh my gosh, well, now
I have to get credit for it if they use.
Speaker 5 (59:22):
We need a publicist on this, a publisher, sorry, a.
Speaker 2 (59:25):
Publisher or pois about how the NFL stole Christmas is
actually kind of hilarious.
Speaker 4 (59:31):
It'd be so good.
Speaker 5 (59:32):
It's not.
Speaker 3 (59:32):
It's not bad.
Speaker 5 (59:33):
Because what do you do when you know you've tapped
into everything?
Speaker 4 (59:36):
You write a kid's book.
Speaker 2 (59:37):
Yeah, exactly, And now the NFL becomes a kid's book.
Speaker 5 (59:41):
People started doing clothing collab, workout lines, you know, and
then now you're writing kids book.
Speaker 2 (59:47):
Now we're writing kids book. Take keep an eye out
for Niggy's in mind. How the NFL Stool Christmas is
coming out? Maybe a next Christmas. I don't know if
we're done for this Christmas, okay, but maybe an X
Christmas Christmas.
Speaker 3 (59:57):
We're on it, Yeah, I think so.
Speaker 2 (59:59):
Looking for a look artist, yes, looking please if you know,
please let us know if you want to be a
part of our new book that we're going to definitely
have to get rights to to use the name NFL.
Speaker 3 (01:00:09):
One person.
Speaker 2 (01:00:09):
I want to just point out we've talked a lot
about the Eagles today. If he did make a very
good trade for Jalen Phillips. I just wanted to shout
out his Monday Night debut to QB hit six press pressures,
a tackle for loss, and a fumble recovery. The best
part of that stat line is it's in a ten
to seven victory over the Packers ten relating ten to seven.
(01:00:30):
But when you look at trade moves, that one could
end up being a difference maker. And then I look
at the Bills, who desperately needed help it wide receiver,
weren't willing to give up what they needed to give
up to get Jalen Waddle and are probably going to
pay for that.
Speaker 5 (01:00:46):
That that is also you know, sliding doors moment, right, So.
Speaker 4 (01:00:53):
It will be interesting to see how how they.
Speaker 5 (01:00:58):
I'm it's so confusing to me because at the start
of the season we're talking about Baltimore and Buffalo and
I'm not nothing. I don't have confidence in Buffalo.
Speaker 2 (01:01:11):
No, And I'm not sure now Baltimore has been a
little bit of a streak, but I don't know that
I have confidence in Baltimore right now. My confidence is
in the Colts actually with any above any of that
be a statement, but that is where I think. There's
still some doubters too.
Speaker 5 (01:01:31):
On Indianapolis, and you're like almost like holding your breath
to see if the real Daniel Danielle, Daniel Daniel Jones, Danielle, No,
Daniel Jones.
Speaker 3 (01:01:40):
It's gonna be like difference a coach made right.
Speaker 5 (01:01:46):
So would you give the edge to Rabel Overstaiken. That's
a tough one.
Speaker 2 (01:01:52):
Jane Sikin, Sorry, yeah, that's a that's a tough one.
Speaker 5 (01:01:56):
I'm don't have to think on that. Their neck and neck.
I think what rabeled in terms of the turnaround in
with the young pieces, I would give him the edge.
Speaker 2 (01:02:05):
I would too, except if you looked at Daniel Jones
in his career before he got to Danapolis, you could.
You could make another argument, but let me tell you
who I'm never going to argue with. Isaac Lohenkron.
Speaker 4 (01:02:15):
Give us some more Reddit thread.
Speaker 12 (01:02:18):
Boy, you want to talk about going down a slippery slope?
Speaker 7 (01:02:21):
Oh my gosh.
Speaker 12 (01:02:22):
Sports fans on Reddit, all I can say is wow
about every single subject we can say wow about college
football today, starting with games going on right now. Number
eleven Oklahoma has a seventeen to fourteen lead at fourth
ranked Alabama at halftime. Number twenty one Iowa holding on
to a twenty one to ten lead at seventeenth ranked
(01:02:44):
USC about four minutes into the third quarter. USC upcoming
as a fourth down and seven at the Iowa eleven
yard line, and they will attempt a field goal.
Speaker 7 (01:02:54):
To try and make it an eight point game.
Speaker 12 (01:02:56):
Earlier, Number three Texas A and M rallied from a
to three halftime deficit to beat South Carolina thirty one
to thirty. Texas A and M quarterback Marcel Read through
for four hundred and thirty nine yards. Number eighteen Michigan
beaten Northwestern at Wrigley Field, twenty four to twenty two.
Dominic Zavadov the Wolverines the game winning thirty one yard
(01:03:17):
field goal as time expired. Speaking of field goals, usc
just made its field goal from twenty eight yards. They
trail Iowa twenty one to thirteen four minutes of the
third quarter. Also earlier, number two Indiana improved to eleven
and zero with a thirty one to seven win over Wisconsin.
Speaker 5 (01:03:34):
NFL.
Speaker 12 (01:03:34):
The Detroit Lions plays tight end Sam Laporta on injured
reserve with a back injury, Patriots placing starting defensive tackle
Milton Williams on ir with a high ankle spring. Multiple
outlets support. Broncos running back JK. Dobbins needs season ending
surgery due to a ligament injury in his foot. Now
tomorrow in Madrid, it's going to be the Commanders and
(01:03:55):
Dolphins in the NFL's first ever game in Spain, and
our TVE, the Spanish national television station did a story
about it which contained the following translated transcription quote. One
of the key concepts of NFL culture is tailgating. Barbecues, coolers,
(01:04:18):
and tents are set up directly by fans around their
cars in stadium parking lots, something unthinkable in Spain, where
spectators are more accustomed to arriving on the metro than
a pickup truck. The atmosphere is surprisingly open. The tailgate
isn't a private, closed off party. If you walk by
(01:04:38):
wearing a team jersey, it's likely someone will offer you
a sausage and a beer, even if they don't know
you at all.
Speaker 7 (01:04:46):
Unquote.
Speaker 12 (01:04:46):
So there you go the Spanish perspective on us Yanks
back to you.
Speaker 3 (01:04:51):
I love that. That is. That is fantastic.
Speaker 4 (01:04:54):
What concept the tailgate?
Speaker 5 (01:04:56):
There is annacotic tailgate. There is going to be quite.
Speaker 2 (01:04:59):
A bit of tailgating tomorrow at so far when the
Seahawks take on the Rams, and Bridget Condon from the
NFL network is joining us to talk all about it.
Speaker 5 (01:05:08):
Bridget, welcome back, friend.
Speaker 9 (01:05:11):
Oh my god, you guys girls. It's so great to
hear your voices.
Speaker 11 (01:05:15):
I wish I was sitting there in that beautiful studio
with you.
Speaker 9 (01:05:18):
But this is the second best option.
Speaker 3 (01:05:20):
We have a picture of you in here. I hope
you don't get that share.
Speaker 5 (01:05:23):
Had we had a cutout cardboard cutout pinted me.
Speaker 9 (01:05:27):
That's so funny.
Speaker 11 (01:05:28):
When I walked by a FedEx last night, I saw
like a picture of myself in the in the window
and I was like, who's ordering a cutout of me?
Speaker 5 (01:05:34):
Okay, body as tea, Buddy is tea?
Speaker 4 (01:05:37):
She's looking great?
Speaker 5 (01:05:38):
It is? It was?
Speaker 2 (01:05:39):
It was us bridget big game tomorrow in the NFC
West for NFC West supremacy, I would say Seahawks playing
the Rams. The Seahawks decided to bring the rain from
Seattle for the game to make themselves feel more comfortable
here in LA. But let's just start by looking at
the quarterbacks. You have both of them playing the best
football of their care career. One could are you who's
(01:06:02):
going to ragn supreme?
Speaker 10 (01:06:04):
Love that?
Speaker 9 (01:06:05):
Uh love that little reigned supreme perfect? What a fun matchup.
Speaker 11 (01:06:09):
This is the best matchup on the slate in my opinion,
and the fact that it's at one o'clock local time
is funny, but like, this is amazing. We're going to
get to be wide awake to watch this incredible duel
between Matthew Stafford and Sam Darnold. Matthew Stafford, okay, playing
the best football of his career. I don't think anyone
could have thought that coming into the season. There were
so many questions, is he still good? Are they going
(01:06:31):
to try and get another young quarterback? Should they get
a low draft pick, you know, to like figure out
or a high draft pick to try to build the future?
Is Sean McVay gonna still want Matthew Stafford?
Speaker 9 (01:06:41):
Okay, all of those questions have.
Speaker 11 (01:06:43):
Completely silenced because he leads the league in passing yards
per game, passing touchdowns. Guys, He's had three straight games
with four or more touchdowns and no interceptions. Nobody in
NFL history has ever done that. Like Matthew Stafford's like, Hi,
fine line and me.
Speaker 9 (01:06:59):
The same thing. I'm aging like.
Speaker 11 (01:07:01):
Fine line anyways, but he is obviously going into this
really tough Seahawks defense that is top five in sacks, Tracy,
you know the Seattle team very well, of course, covering
the forty nine ers.
Speaker 9 (01:07:12):
They generate one of the highest pressure.
Speaker 11 (01:07:14):
Rates in the league without blitzing much, so it's going
to be a challenge. And then on the other side,
Sam Donald. The one interesting note, and I know it was.
Speaker 9 (01:07:23):
The last season.
Speaker 11 (01:07:24):
Sam Donald has only been sacked ten times this season. Okay,
he's playing incredible football with his new team in Seattle.
Last season, when the Rams played Sam Donald in the
playoffs he was with the Vikings, they sacked him nine
times in one game.
Speaker 9 (01:07:38):
You guys remember that ended his.
Speaker 11 (01:07:40):
Career in Seattle in Minnesota, So that I know that
the Rams are kind of thinking about that, like Jared
Verse firing young Let's get after this guy again. But
Sam Donald has kind of had this re re emergence
with Seattle and Mike McDonald and how.
Speaker 9 (01:07:56):
Fun is it to see what he and Jackson Smith
and Jigl are doing. There's just so much talent.
Speaker 11 (01:08:01):
If you guys can't tell, I did just have my
fifth espresso. That's why I'm talking a million miles a minute.
But I'm also very excited about this.
Speaker 9 (01:08:09):
Game, and there's so many great storylines to follow.
Speaker 2 (01:08:11):
Well, coffee is big in Seattle, right, and I mean
I saw, you know, the first five seasons of Sam
Darnold's career, he had twenty one wins and he's amassed
twenty one wins in the last two.
Speaker 5 (01:08:23):
So it's been really fun to watch him. He's such
a you know, good, humble guy and having, like you said,
bridget the resurgence. It's it's awesome and a really deserving fan.
Speaker 4 (01:08:37):
Base in Seattle too.
Speaker 5 (01:08:38):
So I guess then I take the matchup we're looking
at in the offensive, what vender Kind and Sean McVay
to the off, to the defense of vonder Kind and
Mike McDonald. What do you like about the way these coaches,
you know, matchup schematically?
Speaker 9 (01:08:56):
Yeah, you know what's interesting.
Speaker 11 (01:08:57):
When I was researching this game, I was reminded of
that game in twenty twenty three in Baltimore.
Speaker 9 (01:09:04):
I was actually at that game.
Speaker 11 (01:09:06):
It was the Rams playing the Ravens and at the time,
Mike McDonald was the defensive coordinator for the Ravens and
Sean McVay came out and ran the ball.
Speaker 9 (01:09:14):
I believe it was nine.
Speaker 11 (01:09:15):
Straight games or sorry, nine straight times to start that
game and kind of like threw everybody off.
Speaker 9 (01:09:20):
But that's what you're going to see tomorrow.
Speaker 11 (01:09:23):
You're going to see a mastermind on offense in Sean
McVay and a mastermind on defense in Mike McDonald. And
you know, if you like, I know, both of these
coaches are probably still in their office two o'clock the
day before a game trying to figure out what the
other is going to do, because we are going to
see a lot of very intensive play calling trying to
(01:09:44):
get these guys off of their routines. Because as you mentioned,
like these two coaches are.
Speaker 9 (01:09:50):
So young and so good in what they do.
Speaker 11 (01:09:52):
It's going to be really interesting to see how Matthew
Stafford this play action. You know, he's he's so good
at play action. He's so good at pressure and seattle.
Speaker 9 (01:10:02):
That's what they do best.
Speaker 11 (01:10:03):
They haven't I believe they're the only team in the
NFL that hasn't allowed a play action touchdown, and they're
so good at.
Speaker 9 (01:10:11):
Pressuring without blitzing. So it is going to be kind
of like a heavyweight fight.
Speaker 11 (01:10:16):
Whoever can make the mistake, you know, or make the
other team make a mistake is going to be the
one who comes.
Speaker 9 (01:10:22):
Out on top. And there's just so much on this.
Speaker 11 (01:10:25):
Game because whoever wins it is number one in the
NFC West and both of these teams come on at
a really good time. They haven't lost a game in
you know, a month. So there's just so many, so
many pieces to.
Speaker 9 (01:10:39):
This game that we could dissect.
Speaker 11 (01:10:41):
But it's going to be fascinating to see both Sean
McVay and Mike McDonald in their element.
Speaker 2 (01:10:46):
It's going to be a really fun game in that way.
And yes, this is huge for the NFC West, but
it's also huge for the NFC. And I think there's
been a lot of talk this week about Philadelphia and
Detroit and is the winner of that game number one
the NFC. I would make the argument that the winner
of this game is the number one team in the NFC.
Speaker 9 (01:11:03):
Absolutely, We potentially are looking at.
Speaker 11 (01:11:05):
An NFC championship game tomorrow when you have two teams
that are playing as good quarterback wise as Sam Donold
and Matthew Stafford are playing. I know that everybody wants
to talk about the Eagles because of what they've done
as of late and Detroit, but there are some players
on those teams that have been injured and that's going
(01:11:27):
to be the difference maker between now and February. It's
all about who's staying healthy and who can kind of
like execute when you know the weather gets bad, right,
we're talking about rain here, but there's going to be
snow games. There's going to be cold weather, people are
going to get injured. Whoever can kind of like maintain
the consistency that they've had in the beginning of this season,
that's who's going to come out on top. And this
is for sure an example of two of the best
(01:11:50):
teams in the NFC, and it's just so fascinating. And
I know, you guys know Cooper Cup too, if you know,
I don't know if we were going to get to that,
but like that is another ruffle in this this amazing
storyline of games too. He's coming back to LA for
the first time since he left this summer.
Speaker 9 (01:12:09):
There's going to be a big chip. I know that
his career maybe isn't at the prime. You know.
Speaker 11 (01:12:15):
I don't want to say that because he's probably going
to go out and have an incredible game tomorrow and
I hope he does.
Speaker 9 (01:12:18):
But because he's coming back to.
Speaker 11 (01:12:21):
The Rams where he spent his first eight Stevenson's in
the NFL, he's definitely playing with a chip on his shoulder.
And I know that Sam Darnold and Jackson Smith and
Jigbo are kind of the pair in Seattle right now,
don't be surprised if Cooper Cup goes out and balls
out tomorrow.
Speaker 5 (01:12:34):
Right and reading between the lines of what he was saying,
I don't think he wants or expects a tribute video,
but I believe the Rams will have something kind of
lined up for him, just knowing the organization that they are.
But another just kind of side note, what do we
make of the rams midnight mode uniforms.
Speaker 9 (01:12:53):
I think they're cool.
Speaker 4 (01:12:54):
Me too, I'm in I'm so.
Speaker 9 (01:12:56):
In me too. Like there have been some these uniforms
that I'm like, what are we doing?
Speaker 11 (01:13:02):
The Seahawks, what was that? They just like, look, Hollywood,
you know night like I should be.
Speaker 9 (01:13:12):
You should see it on a movie set.
Speaker 4 (01:13:14):
It should be at a night game as well.
Speaker 5 (01:13:16):
But you know what We're We'll take one o'clock midnight
mode here in LA because naturally, what else would we do.
Speaker 3 (01:13:22):
I like one.
Speaker 9 (01:13:23):
I mean it's gonna feel like it's gonna feel moody.
Speaker 11 (01:13:25):
Since it's raining, you know, like it's not sunny and bright.
It's kind of like I kind of love it.
Speaker 4 (01:13:30):
It's giving Moody.
Speaker 3 (01:13:31):
It's giving.
Speaker 5 (01:13:32):
It's giving Moody.
Speaker 10 (01:13:34):
It's boys.
Speaker 4 (01:13:34):
They are so dramatic.
Speaker 2 (01:13:36):
Boys are dramatic, especially the Rams in their midnight uniforms
in Hollywood in Titletown, USA.
Speaker 3 (01:13:41):
All right, Bridget, thank you so much for joining us.
This is going to be such a fun game.
Speaker 2 (01:13:46):
We will be tuned in to all of your coverage
of it, and I will be tuned in from Arizona
keeping an eye on it on my coach.
Speaker 9 (01:13:54):
I know you will.
Speaker 2 (01:13:55):
Thanks for having me absolutely all right, guys, we will
be back with the L O L moment of the week.
Speaker 3 (01:14:01):
You are listening to Fox Football Saturday.
Speaker 5 (01:14:03):
Oh yeah, this.
Speaker 3 (01:14:05):
Is really good.
Speaker 4 (01:14:06):
This is my ultimate running song.
Speaker 2 (01:14:08):
Oh this is a good running song. Yeah. In case
you guys did not know this, Nikki ran the New
York Marathon, which I think needs to be acknowledged.
Speaker 3 (01:14:16):
That is absolutely tremendous.
Speaker 4 (01:14:18):
Missing my ego anymore.
Speaker 5 (01:14:19):
You know there's that trope that marathon runners do everything
for attention, and it's like, you didn't have to run
twenty six point two miles for a little ego boost,
did you? And actually, I mean that moment in that city,
it's the most magical day of the year. I heard
about it covering the Dodgers and the Yankees World Series
last year, Like, you're not gonna say for a marathon weekend,
(01:14:41):
and because Dodgers took care of business in five and yes,
I was like no, no, I got to get back and
cover a parade. And also I don't want to watch
a marathon. I want to run it. And so I
somehow got accepted. I ran for an incredible charity team
for Kids, which supports youth nonprofit sports programming in this city.
Thank you for donating, Like I mean, just really remarkable
(01:15:04):
to run for a cause. But the energy of the
city on that day is not one mile is left
unattended in terms of fan support, and the signs are incredible.
It's electric. There's people with missing limbs competing. It's magic
and I'm so glad I committed to it.
Speaker 4 (01:15:25):
So thank you.
Speaker 5 (01:15:26):
Thank you for giving me the chance to talk about myself.
Speaker 2 (01:15:28):
Oh yeah, absolutely, I think it is tremendous to have
accomplished that.
Speaker 3 (01:15:32):
And it is magical.
Speaker 2 (01:15:33):
My brother ran it years ago and I went, and
there is something magical about the city. And I remember
my friend saying to me that after the marathon, everyone
in New York is like, I'm running the marathon next year,
and I day after I was like, I am running
the marathon next year. And then I did not hear
oh you know it never, but I think it's very
impressive and I wanted to acknowledge it.
Speaker 5 (01:15:53):
Oh, thank you, you are welcome.
Speaker 2 (01:15:55):
And now we are going to go into the lol
moment of the week.
Speaker 3 (01:16:01):
Wo who something that made you laugh?
Speaker 10 (01:16:04):
Nikki?
Speaker 3 (01:16:05):
What made you laugh?
Speaker 5 (01:16:06):
Two words?
Speaker 4 (01:16:07):
Jamis Winston, Oh my god, happy right back? Oh my goodness.
Speaker 5 (01:16:11):
And the energy of jamis if you've ever been around it,
and I know we got to see him at a
super Bowl week. He's just a ray of light. He
is so happy and fun and whatever comes out of
his mouth, whether he's singing at the podium.
Speaker 3 (01:16:27):
Hamilton singing at that.
Speaker 5 (01:16:30):
Yeah, that's how you know your audience, right. Yeah, he's
been sitting there at third string in New York and
hasn't caused you haven't really heard a lot of drama
about him. Just positivity and vibes and talk about a CVC.
He is a chief vibes coordinator. So really happy he's
getting this shine and I've never I've never felt that
(01:16:51):
way talking about a guy getting a start as a
court like you know in the regular season, like just
happy Jamis is back.
Speaker 2 (01:16:58):
Well he's he is the chief by coordinator and he
is funny and the singing, and I am happy.
Speaker 3 (01:17:03):
I'm happy for him.
Speaker 2 (01:17:04):
I think it'll be fun if the Giants. We talk
about feeling bad for Jets fans, right, I also feel
bad for Giants fans. It is a rough go at MetLife,
right for both of those teams, So it would be
nice if Jamis could come in and spread a little
joy exactly, so we will see, all right.
Speaker 3 (01:17:20):
My LOL of the week is Jessin.
Speaker 2 (01:17:23):
Herbert has a brother and he plays in the NFL,
and like nobody knew about it.
Speaker 5 (01:17:26):
What there?
Speaker 3 (01:17:27):
I'm so glad like what his name is Patrick Herbert.
Speaker 2 (01:17:31):
He is a tight end for the Jaguars and they're
playing each other this weekend and no one knew.
Speaker 3 (01:17:38):
And if you look at video of him, I don't
know how.
Speaker 2 (01:17:40):
We missed it because they look basically exactly like they
talk younger that I don't know the answer to, but
we could probably google that.
Speaker 5 (01:17:49):
What in the Herbert I want.
Speaker 2 (01:17:50):
To say he's younger, but I could be totally wrong
without that, So I don't.
Speaker 5 (01:17:54):
Write because I think that would have been that would
make sense if he's younger.
Speaker 4 (01:17:57):
But I still shocked with yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:17:59):
And I also feel like we're a little bit in
a Justin Herbert era here because he was He's everywhere,
He's everywhere at the moment, and he has a brother.
And I found it funny that everyone was like, wait,
what just your reaction has pretty much.
Speaker 5 (01:18:14):
Been Chargers and you know, it's been a little bit.
I've been a little bit away with a baseball coverage,
but that is remarkable. Yeah, And speaking of another game
which could be a fork in the road, I mean
Chargers Jags.
Speaker 3 (01:18:30):
Like it's an important game.
Speaker 5 (01:18:32):
If I think whoever loses, why not why not make
the postseason?
Speaker 2 (01:18:36):
She said they might not make the postfeason in case
you didn't hear because she was whispering in didn't think
about her. But I think that that is a fair
I think that is a very fair assessment. And you
know what that would not be lol. Jim Harbaugh would
have nothing funny to say about that.
Speaker 10 (01:18:49):
Oh he.
Speaker 4 (01:18:51):
He doesn't.
Speaker 2 (01:18:53):
I mean, it's I love the way he's established the culture,
but right, the culture only continues if you keep winning,
so right, But he is a winner, and he's a winner, yeah,
and that's why I wanted to be like, he doesn't
take losing.
Speaker 5 (01:19:06):
Well, that's the okay, biggest cliche, I mean, duh in sports.
But that man does not carry it.
Speaker 3 (01:19:13):
Well, no, he definitely does not.
Speaker 2 (01:19:15):
And he actually gave me a little lol watching the
postgame locker room. He gave out more game balls than
I actually thought were available to be given out.
Speaker 3 (01:19:23):
I feel like every second and you get it was
a little bit like Oprah.
Speaker 4 (01:19:27):
Yeah, you had a game ball with the bone balls.
Speaker 10 (01:19:29):
We love that.
Speaker 2 (01:19:30):
And then when he does who's got it better than us? Nobody,
though it does it pulls at my Michigan heart strings.
And then I get confused because he they all sing
he's a jolly good fellow, and he used to say
one too, you know what to do, and it was
Hill the victors, And now it's okay, he's a jolly
and so that throws me off as well.
Speaker 3 (01:19:48):
But I, Nikki, I am so excited tomorrow. We have
such a.
Speaker 5 (01:19:51):
Good slate of games, happy happy football Saturday and Sunday
to you.
Speaker 4 (01:19:57):
Wow, USC just pulling within two.
Speaker 3 (01:19:59):
Of yeah they are.
Speaker 2 (01:20:01):
It's getting exciting and just just down the road. I'm
going to ask you one question for you leave. We've
talked about all these games, which one are you the
most excited about?
Speaker 4 (01:20:09):
I think Seattle the Seahawks Rams.
Speaker 5 (01:20:13):
What about you?
Speaker 2 (01:20:13):
I would say Seahawks Rams as well. I think that
one is going to be really fun and really interesting.
And this has been super fun. Thank you Bo Benson,
thank you love our control Room Divided. Thank you to
Isaac Loncron. This has been such a fun day and
loved being with you all on this rainy Saturday in
Los Angeles. And thank you for listening to Fox. Best day,
(01:20:33):
sum good by all, Happy football,
