Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're ready to check your feeling to the door. This
is am I Rice Ster or am I Row. We're
bringing you facts and only the truth. Now, am I
Rice Ster or am I Row? We need to talk
about Mark Jackson's knee injury and the reaction to it.
I am still struggling with the audacity of anybody, including you,

(00:24):
Michael Vick, to say that he should have just slapped
the brace on it and played with a great two
PCL strang just so the Raves can win a playoff game.
This is not an m c L mike that you
played with, and even then that would have presented its
own risk. I didn't let my m c L hill
all the way and the first game I came back

(00:45):
fully without a brace. I immediately tore my a c
L against the Buffalo Bills. When your PCL is not stable,
your whole leg can fall off like r G three did.
And for a dual threat quarterback or a complete quarterback
like I like to call them, sometimes there's no coming
back from now. And Lamar Jackson's teammates have even defended

(01:06):
this dude and said that he's having trouble rocking around
the facility and that they knew he wasn't gonna play,
which was reflected in the fantastic game plan that John
Harball put together that had Tyler Huntley leading the offense
and outperforming the defending a f C champions on the road.
And Lamar Jackson didn't let anybody down. He certainly didn't

(01:29):
harm the day to day experience of the armchair quarterback
that calls in sick with seasonal allergies or uses their
p t O when they pretend to have the flu
to take advantage of a discounted three day weekend at
the local golf course. Now we have to outgrow some
of the outdated ideas that have poisoned and perpetuated throughout

(01:50):
the sports for decades. Is the best ability availability? Yes sometimes,
but sometimes the best ability is to be the most
athletic core of back the NFL has ever seen, being
able to be himself. Would you want Randy Johnson on
the mound without his slider or Aaron Judge at the
plate where he's only able to bunt? Hell? No, so

(02:12):
why throw Lamar Jackson out there in one of the
worst playing surfaces in the league when he's having trouble
walk There are some issues of pain tolerance that are
more about a change in mentality. Absolutely, but some of
the dumbest things about sports that there are sixty year
old coaches that stirring fiber supplements to make sure that

(02:33):
they're regular every single day. They have the audacity to
talk about players, Yeah, you gotta be tougher, go out
there and play. I mean, even last week on this
point podcast, I pointed out that Ronde Barber should be
in this year's Hall of Fame class in part because
he played his last thirteen seasons without missing a game. Now,

(02:53):
I feel the need to clarify that as a reflection
of his preparation combined with his good four to make
sure that people aren't gleaning that I of all people
think that physical health makes you better or more worthy individual.
Believe it or not. The athletes that you see on
television are just like you. If you're a construction worker

(03:16):
and you lose your father, you're not getting thousands of
messages for people telling you, hey, the best way to
honor him is to go out and lay that concrete slab.
If you're a minister and you have pneumonia, nobody is
questioning your dedication and your faith to take Sunday morning
at home instead of coughing into the microphone in the pulpit.

(03:38):
If you're a school teacher the last week of school
and your contract for next year isn't settled, but you're
not healthy enough to be around your students, nobody is
gonna go on TV and talk about, Hey, maybe you're
not a franchise educator and the district uh that we
thought you were. I know that not everybody thinks this way,
but we need to find a way to get the

(03:59):
people that do to realize from their self imposed prison
of idiocy to start asking if they want their surgeon
or airline pilot at pretty much everybody involved with the
Ravens franchise has a job right now because almost every
other team, including Baltimore, passed on Lamar Jackson in the

(04:20):
first round of draft. If and when they do wake
up and realize that he's worth paying all the money
that he's asking for, they're gonna be a relevant and
competitive team for the next decade. It's crazy that the
idea that throwing the next ten years out the window
for a temporary glory which might not even lead to

(04:40):
a Super Bowl is okay. And of course people say
that when they have zero skin and zero ligaments in
the game. I'm not listening to that at all. It's
even more insane that the mindset is coming from people
inside of football. Let that sink in
