Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening to Sports Boom, What Up America? Doug Gottlieb Show,
Fox Sports Radio on a beautiful I guess some people
celebrate some people aren't celebrating Columbus Day. Major League Baseball
playing games in London, and uh, we got a great
show for you. I'm kidding about the London thing. But
(00:22):
when you wake up and you're like, hey, baseball's on.
I didn't know they're playing games in London. It feels
like when the NFL plays games in London, the games
are too early, right. Uh. The Astros continue to lead
the Red Sox to one in the late innings. Will
get to that. We'll get to all the other baseball nonsense,
including Aaron Judge who made an important yet not spectacular
(00:44):
catch right, just not not spectacular catch um, and the
in fighting within the New York Yankees, the booger Sugar
which brought down a line coach. Hey he he was
a line coach. The things we learned when Dude has
a sends out a video to a model in Vegas. God,
(01:12):
we got so much to get to. I'll tell you
what we're not gonna do. We're not gonna take the
They're not gonna take the bait on the PR stunt.
We're not. We're just not. I'm not between Jerry Jones
and Mike Pence and all these other like I'm not
I'm not taking the mic pens take debit. I'm just not.
(01:33):
And I appreciate a good stunt, but it's like those
of us in radio, no a good stunt when we
see one, right, Like in Los Angeles, a local radio
show did a race of two former professional football players.
They did like a foot race this summer. It sounded
like the stupidest thing I've ever heard, yet if you
(01:55):
asked the station, they'd be like, man, it generated so
much interest in what two guys who used to be
fast now aren't fast. But one is faster than the others.
Not fast, but it's a radio stunt. Guys do this
in local sports radio all the time. They do something
that's so outlandish, so obviously like, no way is anybody
(02:18):
falling for that one? And you know what they do,
John Ramos, they always do. They fall for it. It
reminds me of Beverly Hills Cop. You remember what's the
famous line from Beverly Hills Cop. Let you go fall
an open and the tailpipe, were go fall an open
and the tailpipe again. People keep falling for the banana tailpipe.
We ain't falling from Mike Pence has banana the tailpipe
too much? Great football? All right, Look, I'm gonna get
(02:40):
to why Aaron Rodgers is the best quarterback ever ever ever. Momentarily,
I have to point out there's a bunch of other
stuff and none of it actually measures up to what
happened Saturday, which I believe in national sports radio has
not been discussed. Iowa State had only beaten oak Homo once. Ever,
(03:02):
Like you're like, wait, when did that happen? Saturday? They
had only beaten them once. Ever, on Friday, we received
word that their quarterback had left the team for personal reasons.
They're starting quarterback. Their backup quarterback became a linebacker, their
third string quarterback. It was a fifth year senior, started
his career in Oregon State, like matriculated around the country,
(03:24):
didn't play in junior college. Was supposed to play for
the current head coach at Toledo. He leaves Toledo, goes
to Iowa State. He get his first start ever. He
beats top five ranked Oklahoma on the road and nobody's
talking about today because of Jerry Jones, because of Mike Pence,
and really Mike Pence's stunt actually covered up something even
(03:46):
more embarrassing. Did you see what they had Peyton Manning do? Uh?
Peyton Manning. They had a speech out front before the game,
a statue erected. Then they had him throw one last
touchdown pass. Did you guys see this? They had him
take a snap from Jeff Saturday and he threw the ball. Uh,
(04:07):
he threw the ball. Who is his most famous wide receiver.
Take a guess, Marvin Harrison nowhere to be found? Right?
He had that one deal where we're like, we never
heard from Marvin Harrison. Then there's that gun thing and
then nowhere to be found? I mean, what the hell
happened to Marvin Harrison? It was crazy anyway, Um, the
(04:33):
the Peyton Manning final pass was just just awful. He
finds Reggie Wayne wide open in the end zone, like
did he and he even did the arm waving thing.
But he's in like a shirt and a tie and
they're like Saturday's in jeans, Like man, I understand that
Mike Pennce took away from Peyton Manning. Peyton Manning day
(04:55):
with the stunt that they pulled. On the other hand,
thankfully it took away from from Peyton Manning being forced
to throw a touchdown pass to a wide open Reggie
Wayne on the field, all of them as old men
like day. All right, let's get to the story of
the day. Cam Newton was better than he's been. Ben
(05:19):
Roethlisberger's appears to be washed. What I think the Giant
should do with Eli Manning and it's really interesting and
Aaron Rodgers, you guys want to start with Eli. With
Aaron Rodgers, watching last night was like watching Michaelangelo paints
his team chapel. And I love this argument of you know,
(05:39):
you know what the Cowboys should have done was run
more time off the clock. That's what they should have done.
They should have run the clock down. They were down
four point. It wasn't like they were going to kick
a field goal. They were down four points. They had
to score a touchdown. So it wasn't like they could
dive on like the one inch line or take a
knee on like the one inch line. Did it down
to like thirty seconds and then what if they didn't
get it, because on the final draft drive they nearly
(06:03):
didn't get a first down if not for Zeke Elliott
reaching out the ball and then bringing it back, which
some people believe was in the first down to begin with. Nonetheless,
on a day in which we lost J. J. Watt
for the season, Odell Beckham Jr. For the season, and
the Giant season officially came to an end. When all
those things happened, we had a good football game in
Dallas and Dak Prescott actually played well and the Cowboys
(06:24):
did everything in their power to keep the ball away
from Aaron Rodgers. Um, Dan Buyer, do you know how
many without looking, do you know how many possessions the
Green Bay Packers had yesterday? What if I said less
than that, I'd be surprised. But seven? Wow? They had
the ball seven times and won the game. They head
(06:48):
ball and the Dallas Cowboys had the ball for more
than nine minutes on the last drive. They did everything
they possibly could have done. You couldn't do it any better.
And Aaron Rodgers like, Okay, we're gonna go on the field,
and oh yeah, did I mention? Um, Aaron rodgers best
wide receiver is Jordy Nelson. Do you remember the play
he made on the final drive. Of course you don't
(07:10):
you know why it wasn't even in on the final drive.
He wasn't there. Now now, look, I know that they
there's a lot of other things. Some guy named Aaron
Jones I've never heard of before my life. Looks like
they found a running back in Green Bay. That's great, okay.
And Davante Adams, who was in concussion protocol like right
up until the moment they got on the airplane, made
(07:32):
a beautiful catch to win the game. And I get
Dak Prescott play well, like all of these things are
in fact true, But it was like everyone knew exactly
how this story was gonna end. And then it gets
to third down and he's pressured and now he just
he guys fall off him and he just runs for
(07:55):
the first down. He gives a little fist puppy like,
oh this is Then he throws into Davantae Adams and
he misses by like six inches. It was a bad
pass on first down. So what's to do? The exact
same set, the exact same formation, the exact same route combination,
the exact same pass, only you could not have thrown
the ball any better, any better? Relax I mean it
(08:16):
was You're like, Oh, that's what greatness looks like. That's
what looks like. Here's Aaron Rodgers his thoughts in the
final drive. I'm thinking testdown. We had time, we had
time out. The key to any good two minute drive
is the first play. You gotta get some positive yards
which actually set up the entire final sequence. Hit Davante
(08:40):
on the back shoulder and start the old drive that
ultimately sets up the winning pass. Because he's playing high
shoulder on the first play, we go back shoulder, he's
playing lower shoulder. On the last play, we go over
the top with the high throw. It's like it's so simple.
It's like, what he's playing high shoulders. We got back
shuld the back shoulder play high show. See what I mean?
(09:01):
Like No, I mean okay, sure, sure, yes, you can
do that. You can actually pinpoint exactly where you want
to throw the ball. I guess if you're the best
you've ever seen. Look, I'm not trying to disrespect Tom Brady,
but I said this four months ago. I was hosting
the Herd in the summer, and I was like, look,
he's the Tom Brady's the most accomplished quarterback there is
(09:24):
but he can't extend to drive with his feet. And
though he throws a beautiful ball and is an incredible
leader and a remarkable winner, that guy is the better quarterback.
He's the best I've ever seen. And like we we
do this all the time. You're like, well, you have
to win us, Like is there a different level of
(09:44):
plectness it takes to have that drive in the playoffs.
Maybe he had it last year in the playoffs against
the Cowboys, He's had it previous years in the in
the playoffs. He's won a super Bowl. He's not gonna
win every super Bowl. And Tom Brady is part of
a better organization. They've had better teams. Brady more accomplished,
and Roger is the best. That was like watching him
paying the Sistine chap if he was Michael Angelo. Take
(10:08):
a snapchat, like, Okay, that's exactly how the best that
has ever done it does it without his best wide receiver,
without Baktari on the offensive line, and with one time
out cool as a cucumber on the road in and
(10:29):
into the sun, by the way, into the sun, which
I just still blows me away. That that that the Cowboys, like, hey,
what do we forget on this here stadium. I don't
know some blinds or some my wife has those transition lenses.
They can't do the transition lenses on those windows in Dallas,
like all of a sudden, there like blinding light like
(10:49):
ah East West Stadium, which I guess it doesn't traditionally
matter in the dome of the East West Stadium unless
there are windows, which there are into the sun on
the road without one of your starting offensive linement, without
your best your best wide receiver, with just one time
out and it was like, okay, you know with the
(11:12):
back show, the first one with I showed the second ones.
It was incredible, No, okay. Malik Jackson from the Jaguars
joined the show. Next. I'll ask him, Um, I'll ask
him when he felt like they had Ben Rothsberg, because
(11:34):
they had Ben Rothsberg Gistrick like they like mentally they
may have it almost like Ben Roethlisberg or quit while
playing that game, there was a white flag. I can't
do it anymore. After two picks, You're like, is he
gonna retire right now? We'll ask Malik Jackson. Let's ask
(11:56):
him about what it's like to bring trying to bring
the culture. He was in Denver, from Denver over to Jacksonville.
Team that always finds a way to win in Denver,
teams that finds a way to lose in Jackson What
that's been like. What a great weekend in football. Congrats
to Iowa State. Um, you had some Michigan State pulling
off that upset. Congrat some of the Chargers getting in
(12:17):
even though I mean Giants don't have any wide receivers.
We'll talk about O b J being Get back out
talking about some baseball. We got a lot to get
to Mille Jackson. The Jaguars up coming next. First, you

she didn't know. Um, I have a daughters eleven years old,
and uh, one of my daughters is darker leg hair
when it's a lighter leg leg hair. That with darker
leg hair came home and informed my wife she needed
to shave her legs for the first time ever. So
I said, listen, if you're gonna do it, you gotta
(13:03):
use Dr Carver shave butter. And she did, and yeah,
like look, it's uh. I can't believe how old I
am now moment where I have a daughter who had
to shave her legs. On the other hand, I trust
her legs and her beauty as does she two dollar

for a new or use car, visit True Car and
enjoying more confident car buying experience. Doug Otlive Show, Fox
Sports Radio. It's amazing on how we um look we
play the Hits on Fox Sports Tradio like they're biggert
their stories that are just so big. You can't get
(14:06):
caught up in the the minute details of certain games.
But it should be pointing out that the that the Rams,
if Cooper Cup, who was their most sure handed wide receiver,
holds onto a football, it was a perfect pass. But
if he holds onto a football, they win seventeen sixteen. Like,
that's how close that game actually was. Um and and
(14:30):
I didn't think Jared Goff played particularly well, but you
if you thought you would, I would get on the
microphone and say, man, they were Cooper Cup catch away.
That's a lot Cooper Cup catch well, Cooper Cup catch
Oh way, there you go, Cooper Cup catch away? Uh.
I mean, the litany of injuries that the Giants have
(14:52):
gone through is remarkable. I don't know if you guys
did did you guys watch that game at all? I
watched the game in its entirety, um ramas, did you
watch it? Bits and pieces of it? Um? What about you? Yeah?
I did watch the Giants Chargers game, and this is
what jumped out to me and you guys saw it.
But at the end of that game, because Brandon Marshall
(15:14):
was out with injury, because Odo Beckham was out with injury,
because Sterling Shepard was at with injury, um, they were
lining Evan Ingram, their rookie tight end, out wide, like
he was a wide receiver, and they were using like everybody,
guys I'd never heard of. Have you guys ever heard
of Roger Lewis? No, Like, I'm not sure, Like Roger
(15:34):
Lewis is one of those guys that he pops up
on your available list for wide receivers. I'm fantasy football,
like when you need a guy like you know, it's
Sunday up early in the morning, Like, oh my god,
I forgot to change my lineup and your best wide receivers,
you're like Roger Lewis, Like that's not a real human being.
Who is he? Roger Lewis was lined up out wide, right,
(15:57):
Darrell Adams is lined up out wid Droll Adams is
a backup tight end for them, Like they have no
healthy wide receivers at all. So that that game did
in fact look like two at the time oh in
four teams. Um, I don't think it's close. Really. The
most stunning result of Sunday's game was the Jaguars going
(16:19):
into Pittsburgh and dominating the Steelers. Even more so the
five interceptions that Ben Roethlisberger through. Like, we knew that
Jacksonville defense was good, but we didn't know they could
do this on the road. And look, Blake Bortles only
had to throw the ball fourteen times. He completed eight
passes for yards and they won. So they won because
(16:45):
of their defense, and they wont because Leonard four Nette
is a monster. If possible to be better than advertised,
he's better than advertised. Stuck Gallant show, Fox Sports Tradier,
let's welcome in. Malik Jackson, of course, been a part
of the Super Bowl champion Denver Broncos. His second year
now with the Jaguars, and finally, uh, some of that
hope is starting to come to fruition as they get
a huge win over the Steelers. Uh, League, I I can't,
(17:09):
I can't help but wonder how close to the game
plan did the defense really execute yesterday? First day for
having me on, it's a pleasure, but yeah, yesterday it
was a great day. We executed everything the game plan
we knew that week. Fire Um, the team that came
to seeming trait before. I had a nice day running day.
I like the Jets maybe had a bunch of yards
(17:30):
of Russian, So we know that they're gonna be looking
at chops and we knew the um running back uh
and Bell that was coming in here with that big
office line that he can really be special. So it's
huge just to kind of stick again from stopping a
run and get up to the quarterback when we had
our opportunities, and we did that. It started with that
Jail and Ramsey interception on I think it was the
second drive of the game for the Steelers. That was
(17:51):
the first of five. What were you guys able to
do to Big Ben that had him so rattled? Um,
I think we just did when we where we know
we do. You know, we were kind of made him
one dimensional and then when they were passed it. Uh,
those guys in the back end of special you know,
I'm looking forward trying to get the quarterback, but looking
at the film today, you know they're just back there
doing the thing. This guy isn't playing the playing the
(18:12):
head game with a big Ben and we were able
to get five interceptions from from him, which is a
great day and uh from an elite quarterback like that.
So those guys in the back game, they have to
take your hat off to him, because they were definitely
doing their thing. You mentioned making them one dementition. Obviously
that means taking away Levy on Bell. He had forty
seven yards on fifteen carries. Of course they were trailing
big most of the second half, but but they you know,
(18:32):
in the game the first half, he still couldn't really
run the ball effectively. How are you how have you?
How are you guys able to shut him down? What?
What's because we've seen him in the past where he
kind of delays, right, he kind of waits the line
of scrimmage. Has that allowed you guys to see kind
of a flaw in that style. I'm not really coach,
you know we are. Big instance this week was just
(18:53):
staying in our gaps. You know, we know he was
a jump around kind of back guy. I'll get you
thinking he's gonna go on one gap, get you in
that gap, and then go out to the backside. So
his only things, coach, is really hard from being being
where you're supposed to be. And um, you know, when
he crosses the line of slimmage or goes a few
gats away from you, then you know, schedule black and
go get him. But we knew what kind of back
he can be, how special he is, so the just
(19:13):
managed this Lake was sure that uh you know, we
didn't let what happened a week prior with the Jets
game happened, and just let a bunch of yurs go.
Malik Jackson joining us in the Doug gottl Lips Show.
He fresh off the Jaguars thirty to nine win over
the over the Pittsburgh Steelers in Pittsburgh. Um, you famously
you caused that fumble on Cam Newton the Super Bowl.
The next we saw you signed a big contract to
go to Jacksonville. I want you to be as honest
(19:35):
as you can to go from the culture of Denver,
a culture of competing for Super Bowl, to the Jacksonville
culture to which people can't even remember when the Jaguars
went to the a f C Champion game back when
Coffin was the coach. What was that culture change like
to go from a franchise that one all the time
to one that was struggling to win my first year.
(19:55):
It was it was hard, you know, just looking back
at it, going from a super Bowl, the highest point
you can be in the NFL, that's a football league,
to go into three and thirteen, it was tough and
very challenging, you know that All season at a kind
of went back and thought, you know, what can I
do more? What didn't I do right? Uh? What can
I change to make myself better? Because I feel like
when you go through a season like that, you have
to put yourself in there. So it was hard with
(20:15):
the transition. But um, like I said, it's off season.
You know, we we have a great chance to go
far this year and uh of coins that Lombard strophy,
you know, if we just do what we need to do.
And I think that last year was a great building year.
But I think the front officer has done a great
job getting guys like very church for as Campbell, keeping
guys like puzz who have those those three guys have
just so much wealth of knowledge, so you know, and
(20:36):
there's a lot of young guys on the team, so
we have an older guy like that in each level
sitting there knowledge on the defense and funny gonna make
everybody better, all right, and then the offensive siety got
Leonard Fournette um as a defensive guy who h't your job.
In addition to pressure in the quarterback to stop guys
like Leonard Fournette. What do you see in this young
cat at the l s u Uh Man, he's a
beast you know. But the first thing as the lignement.
(20:57):
The one thing I look at that old line. You know,
they're moving people to create holes, allowing him to have
some freedom and to be able to squirt through some
of these holes. So so that's why I take my
hat up that oldline because there they definitely don't get
no credit, but after model and move with people. So uh,
that's one but little flitter for net Man, he's a beast. Man.
I definitely like to look at guys on our team
would say I wouldn't do that. It would be that
(21:18):
for net and see I you know those those two
guys in the backfield, Uh, they're they're they're special man
calling up safety to get to to call him out
to to see if they can take them on to
puss them through the holes. You know. We have to
talk to Lettle about situational game management. You know, hopefully
can go down at the one on that long runt.
But you know it's one of those things that he's
younger and he's special. Man. We've got a lot of
(21:39):
good things going for us because to make sure we
stay healthy and consistent. Okay, so you you mentioned staying
healthy and stay consistent. All right, So explain to those
of us layman dumbasses like me who was like, all right,
the Jets start the year that everybody thinks they're the
worst team in football. You guys lose to the Jets,
and then you turn around and you play the Steelers
on the road, and most dumbasses like me think, well,
the Steelers could win a Super poll with all that
(22:00):
weaponry that how do you lose to the Jets and
beat the hell out of the Steelers. It was a
little things. We we we had a great game, you know,
the Jets, we just um just didn't finish. There's one
the things that we had the one run where we
didn't touch them down and then there was some runs
when I was in my gap when they just sported out.
It was just just like four players that really messed
up in the Jets team. But that's the one. That's
(22:21):
our issue was being consistent. You know, like you said,
we go we played good in Houston, then we come
home play Baddy just tites see we win the next
game and lose the Jets and beat a team like
the Placebok Steelers to how we did them. Uh, that's
our challenges to be uh consistent, because because like you said,
we can go out there and we can be that
dominant team who takes all these these uh these uh
you know, top teams in their division, were specially in
(22:43):
their division on it and and beat them and beat
them convincingly. We just can't be that team that goes
out there and loses you know, two teams that we
shouldn't lose to Crazy Crazy Crazy Day. I mean I
know you know, I mean J. J. Watt done for
the year, Odell Beckham done for the year. Uh. You
guys seem to avoid the injury bug as well, at
least to this point. Obviously some some minor nix and bruises,
but Crazy Day. That was a really impressive win. Milick.
(23:04):
I know it's been a long time. Come appreciate you
join us and Charon's your thoughts on Fox Sports Radio. Well,
thank you for having me know us always a pleasure
and I'll go jack all right. That's uh Malik Jackson
joining us on the Doug Gottlieb Show. Brought to you
by a True Car. You can find out with other
people in your area paid for the same car you're
looking for new or you use visit True Car to
enjoy more confident car buying experience. Now, I couldn't say
(23:24):
this with him on because he's just like he ain't
get a style at his boy Okay, but he mentioned
the front office going out and getting older guys in
the front office is headed up now by Tom Coughlin.
Tom Coughlin comes from New York one two Super Bowls
with Eli Manning as their quarterback. This is not a
crazy idea crazy proposal. Whether you do it this week
or you wait till next week. The Giants are gonna
(23:47):
lose to the Denver Broncos. They played Denver. That's Sunday night.
It's a Sunday night game. Hey, look, the Giants, even
full strength, weren't being Denver in Denver. What's happening now?
You take away all of their wide receivers, specifically Odell
Beckham Jr. Do you think they have any chance, answers, No,
they'll be o N six. The season is over, and
you you drafted a quarterback, Davis Webb, great name and
(24:10):
smart kid like him, Texas tech cow like. I don't think.
I don't know if he's the next guy. And I'm
not saying you bench Eli. I'm saying you consider trading
Eli to the Jaguars. Bortles can say, like, I'm cool
with him taking the ball out of his hands, and
they are considering how good the defense is, but part
of it is nobody trusts the ball in his hands.
(24:32):
I don't think that's crazy to think if you're the
if you're the Jaguars, you offer up a third round
pick or a second round pick maybe if you have
to for Eli to make a run, to take a shot.
ELI with a legit running game, ELI with some talented
wide receivers. And that's not crazy, is it? Damn buyer,
that's not crazy, is it. I'll tell you what I love.
(24:53):
I'd love to see the NFL make player trades at
the deadline like Baseball to bring in that guy. And
I know they lost Allen Robinson for the year, but
for the most part, they they've they've been able to.
They have a they have a decent roster in terms
of wide receivers. You know, they got Mark Easley, Alan Hearns,
Mercedes Lewis, And I mean, like, look, he's got four
(25:15):
net I mean who would you have more faith in? Yeah? True,
very true. And I also look at it from a
giant angle that as you said with Owen six and
if you are gonna be picking near the top of
the draft, especially next year, it's probably the time to
get your quarterback because there's gonna be a few of
them there for you to pick. So it would make
sense at least the Giants aspect as well, to move
(25:37):
on whether Davis Webb is there or not. Even the future,
when you pick in the top five in the NFL,
it may be time for a quarterback, right. I mean, like, look,
they might need more than they need more than a Correac,
they need an offensive line. I would I wouldn't be
surposed Jerry reisends up the gim Menadroens up losing his job.
Um because they actually do have some good pieces and
they fixed that defense last year. They couldn't get all
(25:58):
that stuff. But like I would, We've always talked about
needing a rabbi in the room. You need somebody who
believes in a guy in order to acquire him, trade him,
pick him up as a free agent who believes in
Eli Manning more than Tom Cofflin. Tom Coffin needs a quarterback?
Makes sense? Does it make sense to bring in Justin
Verlander from the bullpen? Well, right now, the Houston Astros
(26:18):
aren't looking too good with that decision. The first time
he's ever pitched in relief, and Andrew Bennettendi of the
Boston Red Sox in a two run shot off of
Verlander in the fifth inning. Red Sox have now taken
a three to lead on the Astros in Game four
of the American League Divisional Series. Chris Sale was in
for the Red Sox right now in relief as Boston
tries to force a Game five. You could see it
(26:39):
right now on Fox Sports one. See But the Chris
Sale thing makes sense more than the Justin Verlanders thing. Right,
Like Chris said, the Red Sox have to win today.
They have to win today. They have no is there is,
there is no tomorrow. The Astros don't so I don't
understand that move other than and meeting what we all know,
(27:00):
which is the Astros don't have a good enough bullpen
to win this thing. They just don't. Coming up tonight
in the National League, John Ramo's Dodgers go for a
sweep of the Diamondbacks at ten o'clock Eastern time. But
before that, at four o'clock Eastern time of Chicago Nationals
and Cubs will play their Game three. Doug a bunch
of news from hold on all of Let's let's talk Cubs.
I want to get to the news. Let's talk the
Cubs gnats here for a second. Okay, Uh Joe Madden
(27:24):
can't you want to? I can't handle a bullpen. I mean,
Joe Madden nearly cost them the World Series last year.
He's got an incredible bullpen. He only uses three guys
and he overused them Game seven, he butchered all over
the place. Just the team had so much talent and
they were good enough that they found and they had
the rain delay, they found a way to work it
out and they won the game. But Lester was going fine.
(27:44):
He was like eighty five pitches. You take him out
and that then you know, numbers be damned. You don't
go lefty lefty against s. Bryce Harper and Bryce Harper
hits the one that hasn't landed yet. You know everybody's
on Girardi. Joe Madden is the guy who can't handle
the bullpen. Sorry, go ahead, it's all right. Don't worries.
I was gonna move on to the NFL. But just
(28:04):
to let you know that Odell Beckham Jr. Will have
surgery on that broken left ankle. Done for the season.
Bill O'Brien confirming J. J. Watton Whitney Merciless are done
for the year with their injury suffered last night against
the Kansas City Chiefs. Dolphins offensive line coach Chris Forster
resigned today after video surfaced yesterday of him doing cocaine
prior to a team meeting. What in the hell now,
(28:27):
I gotta go to a meeting? Whoa that meeting must
have been off the church. Forrester really has great, great
he's got great energy. He's got great, incredible energy in
these meetings. His ideas are out there. But but okay, okay, okay,
what if? What if? Uh? He's like, um, he's like
Brad Pitton. Seven Monkeys. He's doing the fingers thing right,
(28:50):
Seven Monkeys, the movie Monkeys. It was there was twelve
and it was seven. He's doing the finger steak. He's like, oh,
what if what if we use eleven offensive linemen? Offensive linemen?
Everybody blocks everybody? Body? What about forest? It was making
two point five million? Did you guys see the head.
(29:11):
It's not bad. It's not bad. Yeah, I mean, you know,
if he just could laid off the coach did plenty
of strippers with two point five million ahead, um, Viking's embarrassed. Tonight,
Viking is gonna get Sam Bradford backed, Bear is gonna start.
Mitchell Trabiski the rookie gets his first start, and Gary
Anderson's out at Oregon State and had football coach done
(29:33):
after two and a half seasons. Not only that, both
sides mutually agreed to waive any further commitments to either party,
so there's no buy out. There is nothing out on
either side. Gary Anderson out in Corvallis with the higher
Mark Helpridge, but helpfrist go from Oregon to Oregon State.
I or W they bring back Mike Riley Nebrassa like here,
(29:59):
take him, please take him back. It would be the
third time that didn't go back there. Yeah, the third
time because he left first. Uh, he's just meant to be.
He just meant to be in corps of Allie. What's
weird about that one? Is the mite you point out
mutually agreed to part ways. He was on eleven million
over the next five years and he's like, nah, I'm good.
So I don't understand me that they had something on
(30:21):
him and Scott Barnes. He had worked for Scott Barnes
before at Utah State. Scott Barnes is the athletic director
um and he worked from before. So I don't understand
that one. How you leave and leveman like you fired me,
like fire me, give me my eleven million dollars. But
that's a weird one. But what about helpers? That would
be that would be amazing. Organ State sucked. I mean,
(30:42):
my my pick didn't come through is a thirty four
and a half point line, and but it was it
was only because sc probably looked at the tape and
it's like, wow, organ State really sucks. It's hard for
college kids to get up for them. But crazy, I mean,
it's just the craziest, craziest stuff. I really enjoyed the
baseball with the weekend, did you guys? It was on
kind of bizarre times and sometimes you know, didn't watch
(31:02):
any of the music, did you? But very little, very
little more. On Saturday yesterday, I basically watched no baseball.
But you what about you Ramos? Oh yeah, I watched
all the games this weekend. Dodgers. Yes, oh I did
watch that. Yeah, I watched because mind seventeen runs. That
(31:26):
was Saturday, right the Saturriday and Saturday right Friday is
when Kershaw gave up four runs, all on home runs,
and uh and Saturday was Saturday was it did get close.
Yas Y Puigs was a monster. He's a nut, but
he's a he's a monster. There's six seven eight hitters
were spectacular and they got down to nothing and then
(31:50):
they were up seven to two. The final score was
not really it wasn't really once the seven to that
game was that game was a rap um. But they
they got to Robbie Ray, who who they struggled with
all year long, left handed pitcher, and Dodgers have struggled
with left handed pitching the last two years. That's a
couple of years. Really. Red Sox with that three to
lead is justin Verlander blue blew a lead. That was
(32:14):
left to him. And this is the same Verlander who
had leads blown for him when he was in Detroit
his first relief appearance out of the pen. And now
Chris Sale gets out of a jam in the top
of the six innings, So bottom six we go Red
Sox now a three to two lead, trying to stave
off elimination and put this thing back in Houston tie
(32:36):
the series up at two. The Shan Kaiser Will Sean
Kaiser was bench yesterday in a loss against the Jets.
Is it a big deal, a little deal or no deal?
I'll tell you next what True Car. You can find
out what other people in your area paid for the
same car you're looking for, new or used. Visit True
Car to enjoy more confident car buying experience. Hold on,
(33:00):
wait for it, all right, get silly, Come on it now,
Doug Gotlip Show, Fox Sports Radio, Jamal Hill get suspended.
You guys see that? Yeah? She tweeted out that, um,
people should but boycott sponsors UH music. What was the
exact tweet is boycott's sponsors of UH that that support
(33:25):
the Cowboys anti protest right protests. Here were her tweets, UM,
this play always works. Change happens when advertisers are impacted.
If you just feel strongly about j j's Jerry Jones statement,
boycott his advertisers, or how about not patronizing the advertisers
who support the Cowboys. You can watch and do that, right, Yeah,
(33:49):
here's here's the problem, Jamal is um. You can this
is one of those you can be right and you
can be out of a job, but like you can
feel like, hey, what I'm doing is right, that's fine, okay,
but you work for Disney, you work for Corporate America
and suggest even if the suggestion was one or two sponsor.
(34:10):
Remember Cowboys statum is sponsored by A T and T.
A T and T Direct TV has a direct relationship
with the Disney corporation. Like, this stuff is so much
bigger than Hey, you know what you should do do
is you boycott stuff that sounds great, and then you
go through kind of the list of other sponsors of
the Dallas Cowboys, the Nikes of the world, whatever, like,
(34:31):
all right, you canna stop wear Nikes stuff? All are
you gonna stop? This is I've always thought that with
Peter right, where Peter protests different things, you know, they'll
protest the use of real leather in footballs or basketball
is like, what about the sneakers are made a leather too? Right?
Because um, but the bigger issue is not just in
(34:53):
the sponsors. But remember like sponsorship deals are not we
have great sponsors in the show, and we're very appreciative
of them. But from Dollar Shaved Club, too, Frog Fitness
to Select Quote Casper, like, they have agencies that they hire.
And so even if you say, like, look, here's a
(35:14):
select sponsor that that directly supports Donald Trump or directly
supports Jerry Jones. And if you believe the only way
to make change is that boy like that sounds, but
like that agency reps a bunch of different companies, and
if you say boycott one, now, all of a sudden,
that company is like, don't you we won't want to
(35:35):
do business with anything. We'll pull our business from your agents.
Like it all. It's all the kind of interconnected, interwoven
domino effect. And so the only thing I can think
of is she she doesn't want to work there anymore.
She wants to do the view. No, I'm serious, I'm
not Rammo's laughing. She's like, no, you you have to
(35:57):
not want your job to to be on radio or
on television, on podcast and say boycott sponsors that are
connected with the Dallas Cowboys, because that's how strongly you
feel like I would never suggest that bad for business.
Let's get to a game. This is game time? Side
(36:22):
got leaders. Should you're bothered by the way in which
Dan by A Reid's game time, you can boycott all
of his sponsors? Yeah, feel free, all zero of them.
That would be a way to go. How about this?
What game do we have today? Big deal? Little deal?
The game in front of you? What's that? Nothing? Go
ahead the buyer. Let's see. I gotta be honest. Big deal,
(36:44):
little deal or no deal. We've kind of touched on
a lot of the stories today. How about how about
one that we haven't really touched on. Okay, let's start
in the NFL the big deal, little deal or no deal?
Doug that the Chiefs remained the only unbeaten team in
the NFL with last night's impressive win over the Houston Texans.
That a big deal. They're still undefeated. I mean is this?
(37:04):
I think it's a big deal. They're starting to get
some starting to load up on stay. Had some injuries
last night. Not nearly what the Texans had losing Whitney
Merciless and J. J. Watt. But they're starting, but it's
still a big deal and they're playing good and Tare
Hill took another one to the house. Um, yeah, I
think it's it's a big deal when you look at
what they've done, wins at New England and now at
Houston home win against the Philadelphia Eagles, one of the
(37:27):
better teams now in the NFC. That resume out looking
pretty strong. Let's go to the opposite end of the
struct spectrum from uh, the perfect undefeated to a winless team.
Big deal, a little deal or no deal? That Brown said.
Coach Hugh Jackson says he needs more time to decide
who was starting quarterback will be in Week six against Houston.
Doesn't know if it's gonna be de Shaun Kaiser, who
(37:49):
was benched for Kevin Hogan at halftime of yesterday's lost
to the jim I think that's a big deal because
Deshan Kaiser was thought to be the heir apparent right
he won the game, won the job in the preseason.
Now the sudden UH couple of losses into the season
or a bunch of loss in the season, they're not
so sure. It's like you won the battle, but did
you lose the war by starting before you're actually ready?
What I'm curious about as well as aren't you putting
(38:11):
to Shaun Kaiser under a sixteen game microscope to decide
where you want to go in next year's draft? And
I would take every opportunity to find out as much
about Deshaun Kaiser as I can. I think they have
to go back to Kaiser. Kevin Hogan wasn't bad yesterday
came in. I don't know if he saw sixteen coming
in in relief of him. So maybe they want to
(38:31):
take a look at Maybe they also want to see
how Kaiser responds to getting pulled before they make that decision.
So I don't disagree with you, but I also think
they've seen a lot from Kaiser and some of his flaws,
you know, some of his flaws that caused him to
slip in the draft or probably driving them crazy, like
oh yeah, that's why people weren't That's why Brian Kelly
(38:52):
said it need another year. That's why he fell in
the NFL drafting though he made some great plays. So
and like, let's see how he deals with it very
he was bad yesterday, just bad, no no other way
around it. Big deal, little deal or no deal. That
In college football, Oregon and Oregon State and head coach
Gary Anderson parted ways after two and a half seasons,
just three pack twelve wins for Anderson and Corvallis, but
(39:16):
both sides agreed not to keep the other to their commitments.
So Anderson walking away from twelve million dollars that was
left on his deal, that's a big deal to go like, nah,
I'm good, I don't need twelve million dollars. I didn't
really earn that money anyway. That that's I haven't heard
of that before. Big deal, little deal or no deal
from the NBA calves apparent they're gonna start Dwayne Wade
(39:37):
at the two guard at the start of the regular season,
which is a week from tomorrow, and now j R.
Smith will be the one coming off the bench. That's
that's a that's a little deal. Um, they asked your
Smith about it before you even signed there. I think
you can see the handwright in the wall. Even though
any way, probably should come off the bench at this
point in his career, as we've seen other Andrea Godala
(39:58):
come out the bench the Golden State warri years. Um,
he's not a guy that's gonna set his ego aside.
Plus he's best friends with Lebron James, So Dwayne Wade's
gonna start. I mean, I just I think who finishes
the game is far more interesting than who starts up
for the Cavs. Is game time on the Duck Gottli Show.
The crazy thing about the Oregon State story is not
(40:21):
just that he leaves twelve million dollars in the table.
It's that they, uh, they hadn't played Oregon yet. Remember
they beat Oregan last year, which is a huge window.
The organ was just down. They're only one of the
year was a three point home win over Portland State,
one in which they trailed most of the game. All Right,
We'll continuing to keep an eye on Chris Sale is
still in for the Red Sox. The Justin Berlinard thing
(40:41):
did not work for the Astros. As the Red Sox
grip to a three to two league got more Major
League Baseball to come as well, we might have seen
the beginning of the end for a future Hall of Famer.
There are certain you just can't say unless you're willing
(41:02):
to do, and you wouldn't say them or thank them
unless you were already thinking about doing them. We'll discuss
that up coming next. This is the Gottlieb Show, Fox
Sports Radio. What Up Stuck? Gottlieb Show, Fox Sports Radio.
There's like, UM, I don't know if the term is
a delay, right, like a delayed reaction on things. Um,
(41:26):
you know, it's like a first time you hear an echo.
Im you hear an echo, You're like, wait, what does
that sound? They realized there's an echo. It's kind of
a delay usually in when you think something and when
you say something. And I fully get that if you're
listening to this show, if you listen to me for
years doing this show, you're like, well, the first thing
(41:48):
you think, think is the first thing you say. It's
not always accurate, it's not always the truth. Like there
is a filtering process, even if there is no filter
on my commentary, right. And the point is that just
because I think it does not mean I say it immediately.
(42:08):
Everybody wants to be first and come up with the
first Like, look, I started this with a tweet this morning.
I thought about it last night, like giants are done.
Then I was watching the Jaguars highlights and went back
and watched the Jaguars game and realized how they still
don't really think they have a quarterback. Otherwise they would
(42:29):
have opened up for Blake Bortles. And I was like, wait,
Tom Coflin runs the Jaguars. Giants are gonna have a
top five pick. Why don't the Jaguars just trade for
Eli Manning? Like, well, you can't trade a Manning the
culture as hell did so. Um, look, I there was
(42:52):
a filtering process. But here's the thing, once you say it,
once it's out there, every thing changes. That's true in
any part of life. And you've gotta be very very
careful with what you say, and you can go well.
I was sarcastic what I said, right like, I'm I'm
sure there's guys that have You're you're committed to your
(43:14):
significant other wife girlfriend otherwise who mentioned something even in
jest about adding another party two? Um he and and
she and if you will, like you can think that
all you want, but the second you say that, she
can take that a myriad of weight. What I'm not
good enough for you. I don't turn you on. You
(43:36):
need some help. You're into other other women like what
what what is this? And you can start back by
like none of the big big, big, big big bit, baby,
baby baby, it's gonna help me love you more, right,
because then she can go like, all right, what if
we had another dude whoa not cool? Right? That's what guys,
(43:58):
guys like, no cool? Well it was okay to add
another woman? Not okay another girl? Why not? Right? Once
you say it, it's out there, out there. It's like
you have an argument with your wife. Don't ever say divorce,
split up. Once they say it, it's out there, it's
(44:20):
out there. You know. It's the same if you're running
running them, running a company, you know, I mean maybe
we should just start cutting costs. Once you say it,
it's out there and you no longer control, it's no
longer in your head. You gotta like, you gotta have
that filtering like, you can't say that because once you
(44:42):
say it, it's what if we merged with them, even
if you hadn't even spoken, like, all of a sudden,
that starts triggering the merger talks and the rumors. And
Ben Roethlisberger did this to himself. He might have felt it,
he might have thought it. He might have even discussed
(45:05):
it with his wife. But you start, you start saying,
and I'm gonna just take some time and think about
think about maybe retiring now. The true story of the
Pittsburgh's dealers is this that Ben Roethlisberger the day after
the end of last season, when after his exit meetings,
(45:25):
he said he was kind of noncommittal and he thought
about walking away. He was thinking about retiring. The story
is that he was in with with Todd Haley the
next day talking about what they needed to add, how
they could tinker with some things, like he was this
was the lightest retirement talk ever. And look, lots of
dudes talk about retiring in sales moment days. Um, when
(45:49):
I retire, Okay, it's gonna be somewhere where's the beach
and there's gonna be someone have a boat, and you know,
I'm gonna do this and do that the other thing.
Lots of guys talk. But when you're a football player
and you put it out there and it becomes a
public statement, that Ben Rothsburg, and then you have a
(46:10):
couple of bad games and then you go like, hey,
maybe I ain't got anymore. That's what he That's what
he said. Yesterday. I don't think so, but maybe I
don't have it anymore. Maybe I don't have anymore now. Look,
I know that Ben Rothisberger and his hard of hearts.
(46:31):
It's there's some self deprecation in there, right, because everybody says, well,
the funniest jokes are the ones you tell about yourself.
Self deprecating humor really humanizes you. And when Ben Rothbury
says like, hey, maybe I don't have it anymore, what
he wants is he wants everybody to go like, no, Ben,
you still got it. You're still the best, Ben, You're
still the goodest of good. You tried hard, you'll try harder,
(46:57):
you'll figure it out. But because he said retirement even
if he didn't mean it, and because he now offers
up maybe I ain't got it now a sudden allows
at least the portioners are going like, well, maybe he
did want to retire, Maybe he doesn't have anymore. Maybe
he was ahead of this thing. Just like if you
(47:18):
mentioned divorce to your wife and then all of a sudden,
you've never mentioned it before, you just get you're getting
an argument like, well maybe we should get a divorced
Like maybe I was just kidding to just I didn't
mean that whatever now sudden, any time you get in
a fight, any time you come home late, anytime you
know you're you're on the phone, like was he on
the phone with you? At the phone, you know, like
you're like, well, why did you don't offer that up?
(47:40):
It's like when they arrest you, right or no? When
you there, you have the right to remain silent. Anything
you say cannon will be used against the Miranda rights right.
Anything you say cannon will be used against you, dude,
Miranda rights here, Big Ben Miranda writes that's you need
to think of Miranda right, right, your man son, anything
you can't say can and will be used to ends
you in a court of public opinion in this case.
(48:03):
But there's a chance that he has washed up, right,
I mean, it's it's not And there's a chance that
he did really want to retire, and he's like, man,
I don't have it anymore. You don't want to do
it anymore. And it sound that he can't do it,
just like like who wouldn't want to? Like, I don't know,
I remember my do you guys know that I'm that
(48:25):
I'm still suspended for six games? If I go back
and play in France. Never know that my first my
first year doing broadcasting games, I was hosting a radio
show in Oklahoma City with my boy Mark Rogers, who
he now co hosts with Dusty voor Check. That's on
w w LS in Oklahoma City. And I was doing
games for ESPN, ESPN Regional and Cowboy Sports properties which
(48:47):
the leader Field Company back then um And at the
end of the season, my basketball agent companies like, hey man,
you want to go to Portugal and play? You gotta
want to go Portugal. You gotta tell me today, get
on a plane tonight. Want to go to to France
and play? You got till Friday. So I called my boss.
I want to go see my boss in person, because
(49:07):
you've given me this job like out of nowhere to
be a local, local yokol radio host. And I just
felt like I needed to do it face to face
in order to do it right, and so I couldn't
take the Portraital job. I went to France. Play for
a month and a half in France as a fill
in player, and the very last game I played, uh,
(49:29):
there was a fight which I may or may not
have started, and it was just trash talking, and then
all of a sudden we were trash talking, and some
of the young guys in our team and some of
young guys in their team just started throwing blows behind us.
And because the fight ensued after me and this frenchie
who I didn't speak French and I don't think he
spoke much English, we were talking trash, my team was winning,
I was pointing to the scoreboard. Uh, they kicked me out.
(49:51):
And then when I'm walking off the court, this guy
comes charging after me. Both teams come into the vomitorium,
which is the walkway where the vomitorium is the name
for the walkway that walks onto the court that little
tunnel area. Big fight ensues and uh apparently later it
was ruled that because I instigated the fight, which may
or may not be true, more likely than not that
it is true, Um that I'm suspended six games if
(50:14):
I ever returned to France. Not I can return to France.
I just can't return to play in France without serving
a six games suspension. Anyway, I remember flying home and
I had a great experience. I played for a young
coach who was the African French guy from Martinique, and
he had played in Pro A for a long time
(50:35):
and he really trusted me. And I played overseas for
three years, parts of three years, and so I finally
understood the culture of playing European basketball, the style of
playing FIBA basketball, what it took to be kind of
a professional. Like I got it, and I was good.
And I was only twenty six the time I could
have kept doing and I just remember thinking, like I'm done.
(50:58):
It wasn't the games I loved of games, and it
wasn't even something. It was like if I do three
man weave one more time right by you tow line
like two line laps, like it is done, it enough done,
then I'm done, And so we we There's a good
chance there that Ben Roethlisberger in his mind me even
(51:20):
go back two years ago. I remember I had Ben
Roethlisberger on and he had basically said he hadn't thrown
a football all off season. And I didn't really wait, train,
I need to ride dead arm, Like who does that
unless you're kind of you're just kind of done with
the whole process. So I think we have to realize
that this is what happens with most mid thirties guys
(51:44):
when they've been doing it. And he wasn't raised to
be a quarterback. Remember he played wide receiver and tight
end up until his senior year at at Mime of Ohio.
Remember he'd in high school, he didn't start all four years.
He was behind I think the coach's son. Then in
college he didn't start all four years. Was his last year,
was his only year as a starter. But nonetheless, like
it's a lot and there's a cultural divide on that
(52:06):
team between young and old, between skill position players and
kind of the steeler away. They got a lot of
things working against him, But I think the biggest thing
was whether or not he was thinking it or feeling
it once he said it, and I can retire people like,
you know what, maybe Big Ben is done. And then
he has a bad game and he's like maybe I'm
(52:26):
washed up, and I know what he wants. He last
year he wanted people to go, don't retire, Ben, Please
don't retire, just like the the woman who says, well,
like I'm leaving and and leave me you. I give
my advice to music all the time. Because he's in
a relationship he's we've been in for one year, and
(52:46):
I've been in my relationship for nineteen years. You know what,
as your girlfriend ever said like leave me alone? Have
you getten to leave me alone fight? We haven't. But
she actually already told me what the proper response should
be when, which is what, don't leave her alone. I
didn't know this like mine. We just got married. We've
been together a couple of years. We come back from
playing in Russia, and we had an apartment in Stillwar, Oklahoma,
(53:11):
and we had this the epic fight over it was
the dumbest thing ever. She had bought like a like
a lazy boy chair, right, and it was we both
kind of agreed at the end of the day. It
was ugly. Although I was willing to say, like that's
not really the best looking chair, but oh no, no,
that's and she had got the cable to installed. But
(53:32):
she I was like, just get basic cable. Now, if
a man, especially me, says just get basic cable. At
the time, this is early two thousand's, what should that
basic cable include. What's the most important channel? To include?
Sports channels? Right at the time, there was only really
one sports channel. It didn't include that, And so I
(53:52):
didn't say you have to be kidding me. I just
made it. I just like, I just said, really that
chance that channel is not on Basic Cable? Well I
think it is, but I don't know it is. And
she got upset and she went upstairs and she was
crying and she said leave me alone, which I was like,
I hate. So I stayed down and I ordered some
(54:15):
sushi and it came to the door and I'm eating dun.
It's like an hour later to come down there, Like,
I can't believe you left me up there, like you said,
leave me alone. I love you alone. Like, what's the deal?
Women do this all the time, right, leave me alone?
They want to be left alone? No, they don't. They
want you to come better, Spoker, do the same thing.
I'm gonna retire, like gold Ben, don't retire. Maybe I'm
(54:36):
washed up? No, Ben, you're really good enough with everybody else.
Why don't you say it out there? And allows all
the rest of us to bandy about the Angela Williams
joins the show. Next, I'll ask him if he thinks
Big Ben's washed up. That's up coming next. But first
I gotta tell you about this mattress that I've been
sleeping on a matter of fact, it was so the
(54:58):
cast for mattress I'm sleeping is so good. I actually
got kicked out of my bed last night. I keep
down my bed for a myriad of reasons. I have
a tendency store, but all especially when I'm sleeping really good.
But my my kids are now all jealous of the
Casper mattress. So my eleven year old daughter said, I
haven't been sleeping great, Can I sleep on your bed,
to which my wife said, yes you can, you meaning
(55:19):
me go sleep in her room. So my daughter, my kids,
my dog, they all love. We all love the Casper mattress.
It's a no brainer. And uh, if you think that
you might or might not like it, here's what you do.

lots to get to um let's welcome in. D' angelo Williams,
two time pro bowler, of course, joins the show every week. Uh.
(56:21):
I watched Aaron Rodgers and like people are trying to
be critical of the Dallas Cowboys, like why do you
leave with so much time in the clock? Cowboys said
over nine minute drive, Aaron Rodgers is just that good.
I guess the question, d' angelo is Brady or Rogers. Pick.
You can only have one. Who do you take Rogers?
That's easy at this point in time. You're talking about
a career right now. No, probably the peak of their powers,
(56:44):
just because you know, my argument would be that Rogers
ability with his feet, ability with his arm, uh, to
do things. I'm not trying to diminish it anyway, Brady.
I just think Rodgers is better and and uh, and
Brady is more accomplished. That would be the way I determined.
And that's a tough one, but I'm gonna I'm gonna
just leave it to what it is right now, Brady
(57:06):
versus Rogers. Right now, I'm taking Rogers. And that was
pure blessed man watching that game, because I've been in
that situation before, where you know, Dallas came up to Pittsburgh,
We're playing them last year, and then we leave them
with a minute and twenty semi seconds from the clock.
They go down, Ezekiel l A runs and in cowboy
(57:26):
fans all over the world, we're going to the ship.
They called me, they emailed me, they hit me up
on my social media and just make fun crack jokes.
But it's not any fun when the rabbit has it gone.
I was so beautiful, and I knew that. You know,
Dallas defense have been playing well all year at all,
(57:47):
and uh, you know, Dax had his back up against
the wall with all the things that he's had to
face this year in terms of them asking him to
win games as opposed to him managing them. And he's
not able to do that right now. He's too young.
In his career. It so when he went down to score,
and I was like, oh, here comes to go. He's
definitely going to get it done. And and Rogers march
right down, got it done with his speak and then
(58:09):
got it done ultimately with his arm. Uh. My question
was I was trying to find out what the hell
Jordy Nelson was. That was the part when I started
the show, I said, maybe what makes it even more
impressive is on the Road doesn't have BOXR and on
the last drive doesn't even have Jordy Nelson, which we
haven't heard what was hurt? Why was it hurt? But
he wasn't even in And they still marched right down
(58:30):
the field. And he finds Davanta Adams, who was out
of concussion protocol for like five minutes before playing in
the game, and and he and he and Frankly Rodgers
misfired by a couple inches on the first throw, then
decides let's run the exact same play and then throws
an absolute strike that Adams catches for the game winner.
I don't know where where Jordy was, but they haven't
offered up. Uh, she hasn't offered up any sort of
(58:52):
reason to understand why he wasn't in yet. Yeah, you
know that's too, that's the deod one because I mean,
had they not, had they not catch that ball, they
go down, they lose. And this is a different conversation.
We're talking about what the hell was Jordy Nelson? Why
wasn't he on the field. That's one of those the
age old added is that winning solves everything. Nobody cares
where he was because the end result was that the
(59:14):
Green Bay Packers won. And going back to the earlier
argument when you were saying, who's who do you want
on your team? You know, just kind of looking at
all the weapons that Aaron Rodgers has had over the years,
you count on one hand. You look at all the
years that Tom Brady has played, and you count his weapons.
You're like, oh my gosh, this guy has had an
arsenal of weapons as opposed to what um, you know,
(59:36):
Rogers has had. And he's did the best at what
he I mean he said the best with what he had.
You know, Rogers made guys around him better. Tom Brady
does the same thing. But you know, there's a collection
of guys over in Green Bay, Man that a lot
of people don't even know their names, and they probably
don't even know that there's a wide receiver playing running
back in that offense right now currently. Uh. The Aaron
(59:57):
Jones kid was really good. They found it looks like
they found a new running back yes day. Uh, Daniel
Williams joining us and Doug NFL dot com. By the way,
he said he's got a hamstring that Georgy has a
hamstring issue, but he should be good to go heading forward.
So sat out with some some sort of gimpy hamstring
and uh and didn't play. Let's let's get to the
Pittsburgh Steelers. There are there are plenty of people in
the NFL are like, well, here's what happened. Ben talked
(01:00:20):
about retirement and once you got one foot into retirement,
you should essentially retire. I always thought that Ben offered
up retirement because he wanted people to say, oh no, Ben,
don't retire. That he said he was washed up yesterday,
because he wants people to say, no, no, Ben, you're
not washed up. Why do you think do you think
that he should have just retired or is there something
(01:00:41):
else at play here? No? No, no, no no, no.
Let's let's let's make sure we get this straight, Doug. Uh.
When the season first started and everybody was saying Levyan Bell, this,
Levy on Bill that he's not he's the problem, he's
the problem. He just hadn't caught on. Well. I kept
telling everybody. I was like, Hey, the quarterback play isn't
the best. It's not the best right now, like we're
(01:01:04):
struggling in the other areas. Nobody would listen to me.
Fast forward to this week, Ben throws five picks and
everybody's in an uproar on, oh my gosh, he's never
played this bad, Like what did you guys think? Like
he was yetn't played well off season. Uh. Then he
throws five picks. And the only reason why Ben said
(01:01:25):
that is because he was taking the words out of
your mouth and putting them into his. He he was
telling you everything that he's probably gonna hear this week
leading up to the Kansas City Chiefs, Hey, you you
lost it, You lost the step. You're not the quarterback
you used to be. Because he's throwing five picks. I mean, uh,
he's the general of this team. Understand and know that
(01:01:46):
he's a general of this team. And I learned this
from having a conversation with my ex coach that's now
with the Chicago Bears and John Fox. John Fox after
and I've never told this story to anybody, but after
Jake Delone, we went to the Arizona car Or Arizona
Cardinals came to us in the division round of the playoffs.
(01:02:07):
We were scheduled to win that and um Jake threw.
He had seven turnovers, He had like five picks, two fumbles,
like just it was just we just got decimated. Remember, yeah, yeah,
so uh he came back and everybody was like, yeah, man,
Jake's going, Jake's gone. Jake come back. As it started
the next year and everybody was asking, you know, why
(01:02:30):
was Jake back? Well, Jake was back because Coach Fox
said something that I've never heard of coach say. He said,
any quarterback that can have a game like that and
then walked back in the huddle, and everybody in that
huddle still respects him. It's gonna be my quarterback for
a lifetime. The problem with Jake was never the same
(01:02:50):
after that game, though. Yeah, he was never He was
never the same year. Absolutely right, It sounded sounded really good,
and the way you said it was really convincing. You
just saying he know that when Ben steps in that huddle,
he's gonna commanding the attention of everybody in that huddle,
and everybody's gonna respect him for the playmaker that he
is and has been. You know, he had a bad game,
a very bad game. Everything that he said was the
(01:03:13):
things that you guys were thinking, and he just disarmed
you with saying what you wanted to say. It was
the old eight miles I mean, yeah, the eight mile
reverse psychology thing. I'm gonna tell you everything bad that
you want to hear. So once you heard it all,
then there's nothing for you to talk to you like, well,
you know it wasn't that bad, you know, just relaxed.
You're too hard on yourself. Yeah, but I mean that's
(01:03:36):
not what had me piste off. What had me piste
off is is he threw the ball fifty five times
and Lady and Bell came out to day and he
said that running wasn't a high priority against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
And I'm thinking to myself, when was running not ever
a high priority against the damn Jacksonville Jaguars. Why do
you think that is? Why would why why would they
(01:03:57):
like like why would they have Why would they have
Levy and Bell and everybody considered Levy on Bells and
them not hand them the ball outside of like he
did start turning it over rather early in that game,
but they weren't down. It wasn't like they were down
three touchdowns to start the game, close game at the half.
They lost that thing in a second. Why wouldn't Why
would that not be a priority to that. I have
no idea, That's what I'm trying to find out, Dougs.
(01:04:17):
I am so pissed because you know, I I honestly
believe the m v P of this league right now
is broader and all he does is hand the damn
ball off to his running back. You know, you know
they actually have the second worst rush defense in the NFL.
You know what, Doug, You're gonna make me mad because
(01:04:38):
I'm I'm sitting at a NASCAR race. I'm at the
Bank of America five hundreds, I have the NFL Sunday
ticket pulled up on my phone. I'm burning all type
of juice and data plans and and all of that
what have you. And I'm watching this game and like
my wife stopped me three or four times from throwing
my phone. I was like, why don't we run the
damn ball? We have Lady on Bell, we Connor behind them,
(01:05:01):
we have everything working in our FA. We've got the
guys up front that are willing to work and do
everything it is to get these guys out of the way,
and we're throwing it against the Jacksonville Jaguar. Jaguar's average.
This is this one's gonna make you spit out in
anything that you've eaten. They average, they lead the league.
They lead the league giving up five point four yards
carry that lead league, second in the league in yards
(01:05:23):
per game giving up, and second the league in total
yards rushing, giving up all those rushing either dead last
or second to last in every rushing category, and they
didn't run the football. You're really making me upset right now.
You're making it even worse. That's what I usually try
to call in and make me upset. Okay, I gotta try.
I got a trade proposal for you. Okay, speaking of Jacksonville,
(01:05:45):
you made you You said Bordles is the MVP league
because all he does the hand the ball at four net. Okay,
so look, you know how this league works, right, You
gotta have somebody who believes in you, a rabbi in
the room. If we're that, that's gonna bring you in.
If you're re agent, you gotta have some sort of
connection GM assistant, GM player personnel, head coach, offensive coordinator,
(01:06:06):
position coach, whatever. Tom Coflin's running the Jaguars. The Giants
just lass Odell Beckham jr. Uh. They have no offensive line. Hell,
they have no other wide receivers at you can play
wide receiver. By the way, dude, you can go get
a check in New York starting this week. And they're
playing in there, playing in Denver, which means they're going
to be O N six. Y're not beating at full
strength of not being the Broncos in the road without anybody,
(01:06:27):
they're definitely not be so they're gonna be O N six.
Wouldn't you, if you're Jacksonville call up the Giants and say, hey,
we'll take Eli off your hands. You can start the
process of rebuilding. See if Davis Webb is good enough.
When't that makes sense? Are you serious? Yeah? I'm dead serious.
Look like, how did you just you just change for
(01:06:47):
being like a cool guy to just flat out out
of your damn it makes no sense at all. That
makes no sense at all. So you're gonna take the
face of the franchise and trade him. Do you know
how much heat that front office again for trade and Ela? Uh? Yeah,
Except Odell Beckham Jr. Is actually the face of the
franchise and they need they're gonna they're gonna need a
(01:07:10):
new quarterback. How many how many super Bowls is Odell
Beckham Junior been to? Or one? Zero? Okay, thank you,
thank you, thank you? How many? How many? How many?
How many times has Eli even been in the playoffs
in the last nine years? We're talking about super Bowls here.
I can't I can't argue this. I can't argue the
super Bowl thing. The last super Bowl, by the way,
was in two thousand and eleven. What year is it
(01:07:32):
right now? Wait? Wait? What right? Like two thousand, two
thousand eleven. You were in the Pro Bowl, weren't you?
Like this is this is like this is we we
go back, we go back that far. And I'm not
saying he's he's washed, but he's closer to wash than
he is to his prime. And at some point at something,
and I don't know what they could get for him,
(01:07:53):
Like look, I'm not gonna take like a fifth round
pick for him, but I get a second. If I
get a second, and I'm gonna get the top three
this year. Doug, you are insane right now. Not only that,
like Eli is not watched, he's not even close to
being watched. It's hard for a quarterback to be accurate
on his back. Okay, they don't want to spend money
on that front offensive line. I'm not saying that Eli
Manning is good. I'm just not saying that he's not
(01:08:16):
as bad as his old line portrays him to be.
This is a third. He will never go to Jacksonville.
If I was him and they tried to trade me
to Jacksonville, I'm shutting it down. I'm retiring. It's over
with no because Eli Manning in New York is the
biggest thing that New York, the Giants, outside of LK
(01:08:37):
and all those other Hall of Famers have seen in
a very long time, no question, And so is his
brother in Indianapolis. But you go somewhere that has a
loaded up defense, great secondary, good running game, and he's
trying to make one more run with Tom Conflint. Dug, Dug,
you just pissed me off. The Jacksonville Jaguars defense is
not loaded just because you just gave me all little
(01:08:59):
statistics of how they're bottom of the barrel in running
and run defense right, well, that they they're not at
the top. Beat the Texans in the road, beat the Ravens,
did lose to the Jet Did did lose? Uh? I
mean Steelers beat the Ravens. Ravens look good this week.
(01:09:19):
They did lose the Jets. I will, I will give
you that. If you put Eli Manning on the Jacksonville Jaguars,
are they a playoff team? No? No, They're in first
place right now in their division. Doub You could go
be the quarterback for the Jackonville Jaguars and you will
still be in first place, I understand. So you put
Eli Manning, who you said it's not washed up, has
one two Super Bowls, not great but not terrible in
(01:09:41):
place of Blake barrels, and they're pretty good. Dug, It's
not gonna happen. These what if scenarios are horrible. These
what if scenarios only happened in Mad, and even in Mad,
and they will block this trade like hell no the
computer version the Eli and be like no, I would.
I would agree with you if Coughlin wasn't running the team,
Conflin running the team changes. It does not matter, It
(01:10:04):
does not matter. This is the New York Football Giants,
big media market to go into the Jacksonville Jaguars or
the only fool thing is the pools in the stadium
is really cool. D'Angel will talk to you next week. Okay,
all right, you are unbelievable that you used to be
a cool guy and I used to be a cool
guy and now I am not Dan Buyers. That is it?
(01:10:27):
Is that Dan Buyer? Is that? Was that a crazy?
Is it a crazy idea? I don't think it's as
as crazy. I do think that it would be beneficial
for the Giants to maybe look to move on. See
I think it'd beneficial for the for the Jaguars to
to get a quarterback. And I think it'd be beneficial
towards Eli Manning. Like, dude, do you want to be
a part of of this deal again? Or do you
(01:10:49):
be part of a good team that is desperately in
need of a quarterback working for Tom Conflin, Like, I
don't think this is that Eli's turnovers would not be
beneficial in Jacksonville, and you know I was you would
throw the pick he does, but he has not. He
has He's never had Leonard four Nette had Leonard four Nette.
That that NFL discussion. But by True Car find out
one of the people in near paid for the same

(01:11:10):
enjoying more confident car buying experience. Um, it looks like
they left Chris Sale in too long. Uh yeah quickly.
Blake Bortles and Jay Cutler got wins yesterday throwing less
than one hundred yards. So there's there's that in today's NFL. Yes,
it's now a four three ball game in favor of
the Houston Astros heading to the bottom of the eighth inning.
Houston scored twice in the eighth inning. First it was
(01:11:32):
an Alex Bregman solo home run off of Chris Sale.
Sale was taken out with two outs in the eighth
replaced by reliever Craig Kimball. Then on a three to count,
Josh reddickin an RBI single with two outs to give
the Astros that four three leaders. They head to the
bottom of the eighth inning, Astros trying to close things
out in the best of five series. Nationals and Cubs
(01:11:52):
are underway at regularly scoreless right now in the heading
to the bottom of the second ending, it's Max Scherzer
against Jose Quintana. Indians and Yanks come up at seven
Eastern on Fox Sports One. Dodgers and Diamondbacks at an
Eastern time in their game three. Twins today gave manager
Paul moller Or a three year extension. Gold Head coach
Chuck mcconough has already ruled out Andrew Luck for Week
six against the Titans. Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr.
(01:12:14):
Done for the year. He'll need surgery at a broken
left ankle, while Houston Texans said coach Bill O'Brien confirmed
that defensive end J. J. Watt and Yes Doug and
linebacker Whitney Marcellis will miss the rest of the year
with injuries suffered the last night's lost to the Chiefs.
Fikes embarrassed tonight eight thirty Eastern time to wrap up
Week five. Whitney Merciless getting hurt is not as damaging
as J. J. Watt, but you lose both of them.
(01:12:37):
There's a lot that Texans defense, which was really good
last year. Yeah, you take both of them out. We
know about cushion and JJ was out last year but
with a back injury and played the first three games.
Three games in fourteen days. Was problematic coming off one
back surgery, a second back surgery. Now he's got a
knee surgery in front of you. Lost uh A J.
Boyer to free agency in the offseason. Kevin Anderson was
a guy was gonna be replacing him. He's hurts um
(01:13:00):
a lot of pieces. I'm missing another one on you.
I can't even remember my mom. But yeah, it's been
tough year for the Houston Texans defense. Okay, so the Astros.
I don't understand why they're The next game is not
until Wednesday, right right? Like like game game five is Wednesday.
Why did Justin? Why do they put Justin er Lander in?
(01:13:21):
How the bullpen? It looks like they might survive it anyway,
But I don't get that. It looks like a big
move of panic, especially because he had never ever appeared
as a reliever before, as you mentioned earlier. Maybe I like,
and I don't know again if I'm wrong, don't you
usually throw is this? Maybe did they try and go like, well,
(01:13:41):
this is throwing day he was gonna throw anyway, I
don't think it would be today. Maybe maybe it would have,
but they do have Dallas Kaiko that you could you
could throw in Game five, maybe that would have been there. Yeah,
that could have been there their decision making. But right
now Ken Giles is in for the astros um and
they're at the bottom of the eighth inning. I're asking
a lot of the pictures today in Boston. M hmm, yeah,
(01:14:05):
I thought I thought. I thought Chris Sale. I mean
I I didn't call it because we were doing the
radio show fourhand during it, but I thought he was.
He was starting to miss and and what they what
all the analysts say, is like, look, it's not it's
not like RBI Baseball. Remember RBI Baseball hasn't play the
video game. When you start to get hired, you're yeah,
instead of ding starting or ninety two, what really happens
(01:14:28):
in real baseball is not that you still throw ninety five.
You just can't hear. You start missing your locations, right,
And that's what I'm Chris Tale the inning before he
went out there, uh in the what was it, the
eighth inning? Right in the seventh inning, he went out there.
He was missing some and the eighth he missed enough.
He just missed once and ends up getting deposited. Then
he gets a run on first base and then they
they he gets way to Kimber who end up giving
(01:14:49):
up that game the single, which so he is the
losing picture of record, as a UH sale would be
the losing picture of record. Yes, because Kimbroll inherited those runners.
They are on their on Girardi something fierce out in

every day we like to play for you a portion
of one of the previous shows on either Fox Sports

(01:15:32):
see UH or you can hear some of Fox Sports
Ones TV shows. The Herb calling Cowherd undisputed. First things
first on our serious XM Channel eighty three, if you
don't get it on your uh your Fox Sports radio
Phil It as well as Clay Travis's show and and others.
When we do so, we call it this now. Colin
(01:15:56):
Cowherd had this thought about the comparison of the NBA
in the NFL. The NBA is about stars. The NFL,
I have noticed over the last couple of years, has
done their research, and research is telling you that millennial
viewers early thirties are more about the star than the team.
(01:16:17):
They like Kobe more than the Lakers, Odell more than
the Giants. Millennials are in the stars and celebrities and
Beckham's and J. J. Watts. The downside in football is
it because there's so much regulated violence. Stars get hurt
all the time. Just think of the NFL right now,
Derek Carr out, J J. Watt out, Beckham out, Mariota out,
Gronk hurt Berry out, Eric Berry, best safety in the sport,
(01:16:40):
David Johnson Arizona out, Dlvin Cook, Minnesota running back star
out for the year, Andrew lock out. So what you're
saying is you can't invest in these stars. I mean, like, look,
I don't think it's that the NFL, I think it's
that players understand they have to get out from behind
the shield. It's one of the reasons that that Travis
Kelsey had his reality show that that players try to
(01:17:00):
separate themselves with their own touchdowns celebration. NBA players are tangible,
you know what they look like, you know what their
body types like, whereas NFL players with a couple exceptions,
are not, and that leads to greater outside of career
and post career benefits. Uh. The interesting thing about it
is that there have been plenty of NFL players that
(01:17:22):
have played positions that that didn't get promoted the stray
hands of the world, that made themselves into household names
post career. How he long of course was an action
star as well as broadcasting NFL games. That there's been
plenty of NFL players that are broken out from behind
that shield. And so now I think there's such a
proliferation of guys trying to make it as reality show
(01:17:44):
stars as more than NFL stars, uh, that it actually
ends up watering down the name recognition. Like look at
Peyton Manning, how many TV commercials he had when he played.
So I don't think this is actually anything new. I
just I think that got more, guys have gotten wise
to get your helmet off, show yourself more. But end
(01:18:05):
of the day, there's fifty three guys and roster plenty
of guys not getting realized now what he gets to
in terms of injuries. That's why the contracts won't change.
And yesterday is a perfect example why we can say, well,
these guys have earned the right to have all these
big contracts, but they don't play into their forties. Running
Backs aren't good into their thirties. And if you're gonna
(01:18:28):
lop a bunch of money into guys, look at how
many how quickly they get hurt. And the reason that
quarterbacks are valuable is not only are there very few
of them that can play, but they all stay healthy.
Like they've said that they can set rules together that
allow quarterbacks to stay healthy, they can't put rules together
for everybody else to stay healthy. Say, we got a
lot of things to get two dicks down. We haven't
(01:18:49):
even touched I haven't even touched um Michigan State beating
Michigan in a monsoon. You can see that that rainstorm.
Who and I get that. I like that people want
to take shots at Harbaugh because of how much money
he makes. Fine, it's cute. Whatever, can I can? I
(01:19:11):
just let me just state this. I want everybody to
listen really really closely. If you think that Jim Harbaugh
is underpaid by one penny, if you think that Michigan
should look around to find another coach, for one second,
you are the dumbest human being on earthed. Now you
might say it, but you say it because it gets attention,
because there are people that think he's weird, he's awkward.
(01:19:34):
He uh, he might not be as good as as
what is advertised. In addition to building San Diego from
something to nothing, in addition to building Stanford from something
to nothing, from nothing to something excuse been nothing to something,
San Diego nothing to remember when he took out of Stanford,
I don't think they want a game. The year before
he got there, not a game. They were terrible. Um,
(01:19:55):
and then he left them in great shape. He took
the San Francisco forty Niners that have gone through coach
for coach after coach and finally righted the ship and
they went to the NFC Championship Game and to the
Super Bowl. Okay, then that thing fell apart and Michigan
hadn't been good in a decade. She said, they're like, well,
they look at the record, one and four against Like, look,
they lost to Michigan State at home two years ago
(01:20:16):
on the flukiest fluke punt play. Ever, his starting quarterback
gets hurt, breaks vertebrae, so he's out his backup quarterback.
O'corn throws w thro like five picks the other day
to turn the ball over six times, and they still
almost beat Michigan State. Like, don't don't get caught up
in one game here, one game that they outplayed. Ohouse
(01:20:37):
States should have beat him last year, didn't. Should it
be nil last year? Didn't? I got it. Okay, they're
gonna win nine or ten games. They already beat Florida.
They're beating people in recruiting. They basically made Michigan. They've
made it so that Michigan State now their super Bowl
was beating Michigan, whereas Michigan State two years ago was
competing for a national championship. And those days are over.
They are finished. Don't believe me, Ask anybody who actually
(01:21:00):
knows you can pick apart the fact that he hasn't
developed a quarterback yet. But if you think that they
can find a better option out there. You are the
dumbest human being on earth. He brings attention, he feels
the stadium. They win games, they're getting better, they have
a tremendous defense, and when they figure out the quarterback position,
they'll win the whole thing. But he's wooding for again,
(01:21:22):
like I don't care. I'm not a Mischian fan, so
I don't care. I'm just a realist telling you he's awesome.
He's with his Alba water and he's crushing and recruiting,
and they're super young and they're gonna be good for
years to come. Here's the slight quote difference. Most companies
give you one option, one policy, one right, but select
quote gives you options, lots of options. I want you
to give a select Quote a quality eight hundred eight
one four four six six ago slight quote dot com
(01:21:43):
today for a totally free personal quote. Um, this is
one of the craziest stories I can ever imagine. It
involves an NFL team, cocaine strippers, and the Internet. That's
a tease next to the dug Gotlip Show. What Up?
It's the duck Otleep Show. Fox Sports Radio. I hope
(01:22:07):
you had a great sports weekend. I hope it was
spectacular for you, really do. Uh, John Rolmos did not
win his soccer game. We do not win our baseball game.
But our kids played really hard and we had no
fit throwing. I will I will say this. Uh, this
is a good one, John, You'll appreciate this. So my
son plays flag football on Friday nights called Friday Night Lights,
(01:22:28):
and it's been a bit of an up and down
the year for them. Last year he was with all
his buddies and they were he was was it first
and second grade, and they had a bunch of second
graders and it was in Connecticut, and they destroyed everybody
in their path and they were all buddies and they
played together and it was I won the fair fight. Um.
This year, he's got one other kid in his team
(01:22:49):
is really good and he's it's third and fourth grade.
He's only third grade. And so my son can really catch,
can throw some, but little because he's one of the
younger ones on the team team and though he's fast,
he hadn't yet really learned. He We had been working
with him forever on just just one cutting up the
field kind of like real football, right, and then maybe
(01:23:10):
you see a second guy a second cut. But in
flag football, you know, sometimes you can get away with
you know, cutting in completely reversing field if you see
an opening. And his team lost, he threw a pick
to end the game. Kid was opened, was really talented,
and I didn't think he under threw him. I thought
the defense just made a good play and he kind
(01:23:31):
of stared down the wide receiver and so all he
was upset and I was like, hey man, you threw
the right pass the defense. Sometimes defense just makes a play.
But I was I mean, he had a run. I
wish I had video of it, like, dang, little little welcome,
little welcome, little Edelman. It was awesome. Um, so we're
(01:23:51):
more involved in the process that when then we are
the result. Uh. The process wasn't good for the Miami Dolphins.
Hasn't been good for money. Jake Color didn't throw for
a hundred yards and they won. But the position of
offensive line coach was an interesting one, going back to
when they had Richie and Cognit remember that disaster reaching
(01:24:11):
we actually had one of the better offensive line and
they fired the offensive line coach. Apparently, up until today,
the Dolphins had an offensive line coach that was making
two and a half million dollars a year or that
one I didn't know. Do you guys know that? And um,
(01:24:33):
it appears also he was snorting cocaine or a white
powder recepstance. Chris Forrester was the gentleman's name. And late
last night a video when viral and the video apparent
was posted on social media by a by a stripper
(01:24:53):
who was I know this is this is actually news
to a lot of guys. She is not a medical
student who just needed the money to get through school.
Uh so what happens is she posts a video because
Jannah Niger that her name, but of course it's since
(01:25:18):
been deleted. But it doesn't really matter, right, um. And
she says that the reason she posted it was because
of how the NFL has treated Colin Kaepernick. That's an
all timer. That's an all time. Um, that's what brought
(01:25:44):
lem down, right, Really, you can't make up the fact
that here's a guy who, like a lifer grinder NFL
offensive line coach, snorts cocaine, records it, sends it to her,
then says he's gonna go into a meeting. It appears
to have happened in his office at the Dolphins facility,
(01:26:07):
and then she posted, and this is the reason, Like, now, look,
I understand, I've never stored a cocaine. I've never seen cocaine.
You guys ever seen cocaine? Never actually even seen it?
Not um music? Have you seen it? You got quiet
all of a sudden. He's also an l a kid,
(01:26:29):
So I mean I think, actually that was a hiss.
Like have you ever seen cocaine seen in a party? Yeah?
I mean it just looks like a white powder. I understand,
But like people had to be snorting it, right, It
wasn't like they were just okay, have you ever snorted cocaine?
Have you ever been tempted to store cocaine? No? Not really.
I'll explain something of my generation that you don't know.
(01:26:52):
My generation is scared of using of athletes and scared
of using cocaine because of len bias. We also were
very hesitant about unprotected sex because of Magic Johnson. Like
this was our childhood. The topic of the Boston Celtics
drops dead, we think because of cocaine use. And the
greatest basketball player the Lakers have ever seen has to
end his career early because of we were told unprotected sex. Um.
(01:27:19):
Now in movies it's popularized. I'm sure, first of all,
it's Miami, and I hate, I hate to be cliche
or but it seems like it would be more available
in Miami. I don't know, but I think it's available
a lot of different places you wouldn't think it's available.
But I think we all agree it was probably bad
idea to record yourself snorton cocaine. Like you could have
(01:27:41):
said I started cocaine and sent the video and that's
been enough. But to actually record yourself starting cocaine, you
gotta be on cocaine to do that, like you gotta
be so whacked out. We're gonna have to get an
update on this from Dan Buyer, because this is there's
some breaking news going on a Major League baseball as
the Red Sox, you the hardest three outs to get
(01:28:01):
you are in Yankee Stadium or in Fenway Park, and
the Yankees are not. The Red Sox are not going
quietly into the night. Um. But Chris Forrester quit his
job to spend time focus on getting himself right and
on his family. Like right, that's the classic cliche. And
(01:28:23):
here's what Adam Gates had to say, not a good situation.
It wasn't something that you know, you expect. Things happen
sometimes that you don't anticipate and you have to deal
with it. It's not fun, you know, especially when you're
close to somebody. But you gotta take the next step.
Move on because we're gonna play on Sunday. Uh wow.
(01:28:45):
He professed his love to a stripper in Las Vegas,
and the way of showing his love was to snort
cocaine before going into a meeting. I don't, oh, guys,
I do give relationship advice on this show quite often,
but uh but that doesn't mean that all my advice
(01:29:08):
is the only advice. But as a third party, neutral
third party, I'm going to say, if that is, these
are the ties that bind your relationship, it is not
a solidly built relationship in terms of its foundation, right.
You know, it really turns me on when you stored
some blow and send me videos. I mean, like, look,
(01:29:29):
I guess it could have been worse. It could have
been dong picks, right, Um, I gotta be honest. Is
that worse? I don't think that's worse. I don't know.
Is this one worse than and I mean, is he
is he fired from his job today? If I don't
think he's fired from his job except for the fact
(01:29:50):
he did it in his office and videoed it and
then said he was going into a meeting like exactly
if he had just done cocaine, he might have gotten
Ron Washington where he got to keep his job for
another year, and then quietly they brushed him aside. Right,
So I think that, like, like, honestly, the the fact
(01:30:11):
that he did cocaine was bad. I don't know if
it's actually the worst part of it. Which one's worse?
Do you guys? Remember Joe Cullen. Joe Cullen was Alliance
assistant coach. He's back in the league, by the way,
he's their defensive line coach who um got arrested. He
(01:30:32):
went through the Wendy's drive through naked. He drove in
this he was sitting in his car and he was nude. Yes, yes, yeah,
he say he blacked out. They black that he's naked,
which is worse. I can't this is worse because of
the video, right, because the video whereas if there's video, um,
(01:30:58):
if there's video that exists of of Joe Cullen, naked.
I mean it really happened. You guys don't remember that story.
I'll take a frosty uh crunchy fries. Keller was arrested
and charged with the decent and obscene um exposure. This
(01:31:20):
is August two thousand six. The night before their exhibition
against the Oakland Raiders. A worker at their Dearborn fast
food drive through window said they saw him naked behind
the wheel of his SUV called police. They arrested. Cullen
was charged with drunk driving. September one, UM, the night
after the Lions finale, he sped down a Dearborn street
(01:31:45):
without his headlines on. Someone called police when the police
found him the breath The breath test determined his blood
alcohol to be point one two. What's crazy about it
was he got arrested twice in like a week as
a cry that's a cry for help. Don't do drugs kids,
and don't send pictures of yourself doing drugs to other people.
(01:32:06):
Don't record yourself, don't don't do drugs, don't record yourself
doing drugs, don't record yourself doing drugs and then send
them to other people. All three of these, and don't
do drugs in the place of in your place of work.
It's like, it's like you can have sex with somebody,
you just shouldn't have sex at your place of business.
You can get fired from there. Buddy of mine is
in the sports industry, and he's like, whatever you do
(01:32:28):
every day, don't do something that's gonna get you fired.
Story and cocaine could get you fired. Storing cocaine and
recording it, now that I'll get you fired. Story cocaine,
recording it, sending it to a stripper definitely get you fired.
Doing it at your place of work, and then saying
I'm going into a meeting. Okay, now you're gonna get fired.
We clear Crystal coming on next, I'll tell you I'll
(01:32:52):
take you to Miami to find the latest on this story.
Like are people laughing? Like I know for the Dolphins
it's not a laughing matter, but I mean, like this
a little bit of levity considering how bad their season
has gone. Plus will take it a Giant to Giants
can't find out without Odell Beckham Jr. What are the
possible hopes for this Giant's team? And would they actually
(01:33:13):
consider my proposed trade to Jacksonville. That'll coming next. But
first things you don't want to put off. All right,
we talked about getting help. That's one thing, but also
life insurance. Life insurance subject nobody wants to think about.
But the reality is you'll need it. Rather, you need
it to protect your family. So it's time to stop
putting it off and make that important call to Select Quote.
(01:33:34):
The number is eight eight one for four six six.
Now there's a different scene, Select quote and everybody else.
Most companies give you one option to choose from, but
select Quote shops the companies it represents to give you
options to save money and time. Here's an option. Say

for under twenty five dollars a month. That could be
(01:33:56):
your cost to protect your family. So I want you
to give sleight Quote a call today at eight hundred

That's eight eight one four four six six eight eight

sure you're ready for some of life's unexpected hazards. Stay
ahead of the game with tips from a knowledgeable pro.
At Farmers dot Com we are Doug Otim Show, Fox
Sports Radio. All right, so that thing just went final
in Major League Baseball. Alright, let's get Let's get to
(01:34:40):
dan Byring and if we have a moment here before
we get to our guys, give me the final in
Major League Baseball. Oh it's uh yeah, breaking news. The
Red Sox and Astros game has come to a close.
Houston's top three Red Sox five to four to win
the best of five matchup three games to one. Raphael
Ever has had the inside the park home runna make
it interesting in the ninth, but Ken Giles got Dustin
(01:35:01):
Petroia to ground out with two outs at the bottom.
After the beginning, Astro's win five to four. They were
down three two dug at the top of the eighth,
but an Alex Bregman solo home run. Then Josh Reddick
had a two out single to go up four three,
and the insurance run by Carlos Beltron and the ninth
dinning a big one. Houston wins five four, Astros off
to the Alcs inside the park home run is not
(01:35:21):
something you see normally in the playoffs. So that was
that That is absolute crazy stuff. And like, look, if
you're a you're a baseball fan, and you're a Stros fan,
you may remember that they lost in the DS going
back in two thousand and fifteen, and that was a
series to which I believe, uh like, they they split
the first two games, but then had a two games
(01:35:43):
to one lead and then you know, lost in crazy
crazy fashion in Game four and then got blown out
in Game five. But this is a young team with
a ton of town. I still think a ton of
questions in terms of their bullpen moving forward, especially against
the likes of the Indians. If the Indians can get
past the can get past the Yankees tonight, all right,
(01:36:05):
we want to take you around the country and get
you to people who know more about all of these
big stories. And we could possibly know. We don't know everything,
but we know people that know what you want to know.
You know, sounds like you meet a guy, I got
a guy. In addition to baseball, which continues on Um,
(01:36:30):
there's a ton of stories in football. Let's take it
to New York or Paul Schwartz joins US Giants beat
right for the New York Post. Uh. I'm not sure
things could go worse for the Giants, right. It's one
thing to start on oh in five and then have
to go on the road to take on the Denver Broncos,
but then to lose Odell Beckham Jr. Four the season,
(01:36:51):
and with the litany of injuries that they have as
well at wide receiver, I felt like yesterday could not
have gone worse for the GMNA. Oh, absolutely fair, Doug.
I mean these things, you know, big losses, Um, you know,
terrible seasons, these happen to franchises. But um, yesterday was
a franchise defining bad moment, no question, you know, probably
(01:37:13):
top ten worst days the franchise ever had. You lose
at home again, it's the fifth straight loss, the third
straight game where you lose, um after having a lead
in the fourth quarter, and then on top of this,
your best player, your franchise receiver goes down and the
heat you know, covers his head. Crying. Uh, you know,
terrible injury out for the season. Yeah, it could not
(01:37:33):
get worse than that. Um do you think, uh the
season is over? Um? Well, I think there are eleven
games left and I'm gonna have to write about eleven
games that they're gonna have to play eleven games. But
there's no question that this season is completely pivoted now. Um,
it's not about the playoffs. It's not about you know,
positioning yourselves at all. Yes, this is about surviving. Um.
(01:37:55):
I covered the team in two thousand and thirteen when
they were owing six and they ended seven and nine,
And actually we're playing in Week ten for a share
of first place in the division. As unlikely as that was,
I don't see that with this team. UM. I think
you know they're looking for Uh, it's going to be
a season with you know, two or three or four wins.
That's that's what it's gonna be. Okay, So with that
(01:38:17):
in mind, do you consider you consider moving Eli Maning?
I proposed this earlier day, like, look, Tom Coughlin needs
a quarterback and he won two Super Bowls. At some
point they're gonna need to find the air apparent. I
know they drafted Davis Webb. But you're not gonna play
Davis's web. If you have Eli men manning there, do
they at least float that possibility. I don't think so.
(01:38:38):
I mean, it's it's it's a it's a great topic
to talk about. In other sports, that would happen, right,
you know in basketball, what happened in baseball, what happened. Um,
it would happen. In hockey, it certainly would happen. But
in football, it just doesn't happen in season. Um, it's
a great fantasy type discussion. Um. Tom Coughlin loves Eli. Uh,
the Jackquars look like the real team that needs a quarterback.
(01:39:00):
You know, it's a quarterback in search of a real team. Um,
it makes sense. But with the salary cap, with what
compensation they would get, I don't think it could happen,
But it's look you want to speculate. It certainly fun.
Paul Schwartz, the Giant Spet writer for the New York Post.
With Odell Beckham Jr. Out for the season, the Giants
completely depleted by injury. And the good news is they
(01:39:22):
have to go on go in to Denver and on
the depor Broncos on the road, Paul, we appreciate you
join us. Thanks take care. That's good to Miami. Crazy story.
Dolphins actually win even though Jay Cutlet throws for less
than a hundred yards. Uh. And then right after that,
the Twitter explodes with an internet video recorded video of
(01:39:45):
their offensive line coach and now former offensive line coach
what looks to be snorting a line of cocaine saying
he's going into a meeting. Armando saw Garo joins us
covers the Dolphins for the for the Herald. Um, let's
start with the game. What was the good the outside
of getting finally getting your first home game and getting
your first home win, did the Dolphins actually even play
well in that win? I can see this is gonna
(01:40:06):
be the disaster segment. Uh. Yeah, it was wonderful that
they got the first home win, and they looked terrible
offensively doing it for the third week in a row. Uh.
If not for Rashad Jones who picked up what looked
like a forward pass but in fact was a fumble
that laid there and laid there and laid there. Nobody
(01:40:29):
did anything about it until he picked it up and
ran for a touchdown. That was the difference in a game.
One guy was aware, otherwise the Dolphins would be talking
right now about, you know, another offensive debacle, not to
mention the debacle in the offensive line coach. Yeah, I
(01:40:51):
mean this this story is crazy. So um, I mean, like,
what what do you make of? Like, no one I
knew Forrester existed in the real world then, Yet he
was well compensated, well regarded, talked to you talked to
about potentially being the offensive coordinator for the l A Rams.
That's why he gotta bump up to reportedly over two
million dollars in salary salary. Uh, but what was your
(01:41:13):
immediate reaction when you saw this story come down? It's
like we're in rough Miami. The guy was snorting what
appeared to be cocaine, three lines of it before a
meeting in the Dolphins facility. I mean, I was expecting,
you know, Scarface or Tony Montana to show up on
(01:41:37):
that video at some point. Uh. It's beyond uh reality.
It seems like, I mean, who does that and who
tapes themselves on their phone? Who who films themselves on
their phone doing that and then sends it to someone
(01:41:57):
That's that's there's a special place for morons. Like that. Yeah, no, listen, um,
I uh I think uh, I think though, that you've
got to be on cocaine to make a decision like that,
which he was on cocaine allegedly to make a decision
like that. How big a loss is this for the Dolphins? Well,
(01:42:19):
you know what the speculation down here, Doug is the
offensive line was playing pretty badly, and so are they
playing pretty badly this season so far because uh, they're
not talented enough, or they're not cohesive enough, or they
just were coached by a wild man who was on cocaine. Um,
(01:42:41):
so we're gonna get that answer in the next couple
of days. I will say that first, or has a
good reputation in the NFL. Uh, depending on who you
talked to. Though, Uh, this episode did not exactly surprise
a lot of people, I'm honest. Sagaro covers the Dolphins
for the Miami Herald at Armando Sagaro is his Twitter
(01:43:04):
hand tomorrow. Thanks so much for joining us. I got
a Pittsburgh ed Bust is absolutely the encyclopedia of all
things Pittsburgh Steelers football, so he would know. Um, and
let's start with with Ben in the off season, I
was always operating under the belief that Ben saying he
might retire was Ben kind of needing the attention, wanting
(01:43:26):
people to say, oh, no, Ben, we we can't win
without you, because I mean, I I'd read stories where
he was in the office the next day getting ready
for the next season. Was his retirement talk legitimate in
the off season, Doug? I didn't think so at the time.
It came two days after they lost to the Patriots
in the a f C Title Game. I I I
(01:43:47):
thought it was out of frustration. And then I sat
down with him at the start of training camp and
he started talking about CTE and his wife would be
happy if he retired right now, and I kind of said,
you know, he might be serious about all this stuff. So, Um,
(01:44:08):
you know, I think that it was legitimate. How much
of yesterday was on him? Oh, well, a lot of it,
But I think you have to do it. Put a
little bit on their game plan. To Doug, the Jaguars
came in with the worst rush defense in the NFL,
and the Steelers decided to pass, and they decided to
(01:44:30):
pass a lot of sideways stuff on him. Um, and
Levyan Bell complained, well, he brought it up today that
we didn't run the ball enough. He said he ran
fifteen times in forty seven yards. He said, uh, there
was room there, we just didn't commit to it. Jacksonville.
Did the teams that win in this league run the
(01:44:51):
ball well? So? Um, there's a lot of unhappiness I
think in that locker room right now. I mean, like,
I know they're three and two, and they were three
and one, but it didn't feel like a happy three
and woman. There were three and one. Now you now
you take this like, how how how fixable are these problems? Yeah?
I wasn't happy they you know, they opened with a
(01:45:12):
three point win at Cleveland, UM, and it started started
off unhappy. Um, it's funny I'm writing that for tomorrow.
Is it fixable? Not if Ben keeps playing the way
he does, um, And not if they're going to not
commit to some more leban Bell, who's supposed to be
the best running back in the league. At least they
(01:45:34):
take so and they're not committing to him. They did
in Baltimore and he carried thirty five times for a
hundred forty five yards and they won down there. And
then next week they give him the ball fifteen times
against the worst runs defense in the league. I don't
know what they're thinking over there. I don't either. And
what about Tomlin. You know, like they had the weird
(01:45:54):
uh flag debacle where building a wave goes out there.
Ben said he wanted to go out there. Other plays
want to go out and protest. They decided to not
go out there. Is I mean, they reaffirm their commitment
to him before the season began, but it doesn't seem
like everybody is everybody is is on the same page
or even close to being on the same page. Yeah,
(01:46:16):
they botched that thing in Chicago that he had something
and he admitted it. Uh. I think their intentions were
good and I don't think there's any lingering stuff from that.
But you know, it's it's it's the football stuff. It's uh.
This was supposed to be one of the best, if
not the best offenses in the league and there are
(01:46:37):
nowhere close Hm stug otlip Show, Fox Sports Radio ed
Buschett joining us. Meanwhile, Antonio Brown keeps putting up numbers
is all? Are they all good now? Because last week
he threw the fit uh in the wind when he
when he kicked the water bucket. Um is he all
(01:46:57):
good down. Yeah you Doug, this isn't as Mike Tomas
said about it. It's not his first rodeo. He is
one of these fits in the past and um, you
know it hasn't heard him or the the offense. Uh.
He was one interesting thing. Uh. He was targeted nineteen
times on Sunday, caught ten passes. Those Jaguars cornerbacks did
(01:47:21):
a good job on him, really stuck with him. He
did have a lot of yards and you know, as
you mentioned, ten catches, but um, you know he and
Ben are that's that's the best part of their offense
right now. And um, they need to find these other
guys who were supposed to be pretty good like Martavis Bryant. Uh,
(01:47:42):
they're rookie Juju Smith, Schuster and of course leavy On
bell at Bouchette Stelers beat right for the Pittsburgh Post
because that can't wait to read your piece tomorrow. Would
you come out, Uh, what's your detail, how you fix
all of these issues and whether or not it is
fixable and great stop, Thanks for joining us, Thanks Doug
ed for scheduling. So you needed a guy, we got
(01:48:02):
you a guy. I'm having trouble catching my breath with
baseball going on right now, plus all these NFL stories,
Let's let's help get you caught up in case you're
just joined this. This is the Doug Golub Show. Baseball
is being played. Some people celebrate Columbus Day. Do you
guys celebrate Columbus Day? Remember, Like Columbus used to be
a big thing. They're like, actually, he's a really bad guy.
We shouldn't celebrate Columbus Day. Like, yeah, but I fo
(01:48:24):
two Columbus Dale the Ocean Blue. Come on, man, it's
the only limerick I remember. It's not Columbus Day in
l A anymore. Didn't they didn't they like vote to
not make it Columbus Day. There are lots of there
are lots of bad people we celebrate. There are lots
of good people we don't celebrate. I just don't like.
I don't know. I did not get the memo that
says we weren't celebrating. I can tell you where they
are celebrating, and that's in Houston. Detroy hands it on
(01:48:47):
the crowd right at all two by second basement grows
the first and that is the ball game, and that
is the division series that Houston Astros are going to
the American League Championship Series. They beat the Boston Sucks
five to four on the Stro's radio network, Doug de
l three two at the top of the eighth inning
that they scored off of Chris sale On on an
(01:49:08):
Alex Bregman solo home run Josh Reddick the RBI single
off of Craig Kimberl in the eighth. They added another
in the ninth of The Astros now will face either
the Indians or Yankees the a LCS. Their Game four
of their divisional series comes up at seven o'clock Eastern
time on Fox Sports One. Cleveland up to one to
the best of five matchup Nationals and Cubs. Right now
(01:49:29):
at Wrigley scoreless Max Suers are actually at a perfect
game for the first couple of innings, but they are
scoreless at the end of four series, tied up at
a game of peace. Ers or is facing Jose Quintana.
Dodgers and Diamondbacks attend Eastern timp tonight as l A
goes for the sweep. Twins gave skipper Paul Mollitor a
three year extension. Big introducer of the NFL with big
names you know Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. Done
(01:49:51):
for the season with a broken left ankle. Houston Texans
head coach Bill O'Brien confirming no J. J. Watt or
Whitney Marcella's for the rest of the season with injuries.
And this from Indianapolis. Remember Week six was thrown out
there for Andrew Luck not gonna happen, Chuck Pagano saying
that Luck will not play against the Titans. Jacoby Brissette
will continue to start. Um day, Can I ask you
(01:50:14):
a question? Yes? And have I been pronouncing it wrong
the whole time? What's that? Is it Marcelli's or merciless? Um,
I've said it both ways, which I'm not asking you
to be I'm asking you because I honestly don't know
if I was assuming. And it's one of those ones
(01:50:34):
to which it's like Navitsky or Nowitzki. Yeah. I think
I've probably said Marcelli's a couple of times, but um today,
that's how I've always thought it was. But I know
I think I pronounced it wrong. I think it's like, um,
do you remember this? Who was it? Who was Andrew Jones?
He's actually Andrew Jones but who was what's the name
(01:50:57):
of the he uh long time used to do Sunday
Baseball for ESPN, and he's San Francisco Giants. Uh uh
John Miller, John Miller right. John Miller was the one
who started calling him Andrew Jones, and so everybody just like, oh,
it's Andrew Jones, and like it became Andrew Jones and
like somebody's like, He's like, that's actually not my name,
even though everybody calls me Andrew Jones. That weird and
(01:51:19):
Whitney Merciless I thought was his name, but then I
looked at it and I'm like, you know what, I
actually think John is right on this one. And I'm
I've been wrong the whole time. Do you haven't? Does
anybody know I've said Marcellus for years? No, I'm not
saying you're not right. I don't know. That's That's all
I could tale. I can tell you a story, Ray
Maua Luca. I actually told the guys this about a
(01:51:41):
week ago. Remember, the linebacker played a long time in Cincinnati,
great star at USC. I asked him one time, I said,
how do you pronounce your last name? He said, it's
Mama Luna. The g and in Luca is in n
but nobody calls him maua Luna, So you just go
with Mama Luca because everybody else calls him that. I So,
how do you say it's actually mawa luna. The G
(01:52:03):
is an end sound, he told me. But everybody calls
him Ray mawa luga because of the G in it,
and so that's what we'll just call him. Yeah, I
had no idea, nothing did I until I asked him,
I had no idea. And you know what that to
be honest, it's easier just to not get the flak
for it than you know, just to say it the
(01:52:24):
wrong way. Like, all right, we'll just go mala luga.
I'm actually more confused now than I was before. So
thank you, thank you very much. That's uh, that's the
voice of that's the voice of reason. That's what that is.
That is Dan Buyer, Doug Got the show, Fox Sports Radio.
Mitch Drabinsky is a Mitchell Traubinsky. This is another one
he wanted to know be known as Mitchell. And we're like, wait,
(01:52:46):
we called you Mitch forever. No, no, no, it's Mitchell Robinsky,
Daniel Byers, Douglas Scotty but it's Mitchell Troubisky going to
that against the Minnesota Vikings. Who do we know yet?
I'm Bradford, Yeah, gonna go. Bradford's gonna go inactive. Should
be here in about an hour. But m and and
in uh in Chicago, where notoriously bad turf always has
(01:53:09):
been bad, they've never figured out Soldier field is notoriously awful,
which would give me a ton of pause if I'm
Bradford and I've had a couple of knee operations and
I had something go wrong with my you know, something
go wrong with my knee. So um, well I am.
But I think we know exactly what we'll see from
(01:53:30):
Trabinsky right, which is we'll see um, We'll see him
roll out a bunch, We'll see his athletics. The problem
with Rabinsky is he didn't have anybody to throw too.
They got a good running game, but nobody really really
throw too. And that's a really good Minnesota front. But
the guess is they've had a week and a half
prepare for this thing. This is always where they're tracking
(01:53:52):
upon playing him and Glennan's Glennan's play only reaffirmed that,
and so all these plays will be scripted and the
only question will be will Minnesota be able to flip
the strip on them? I like Minnesota even though they
have no Dalvin Cook. Remember Dalvin Cook out for the year.
Another God, the injuries. I'd like to say this is
(01:54:13):
a terrible, devastating year in terms of injuries, but it's
just a year in terms of injuries. The Buccaneers made
the move we were all expecting. I'll share it with you.
I'm coming next with True Car. You can find out
what other people in your area paid for the same
car you're looking for, new or used. Visit True Car
to enjoy more confident car buying experience. Good work if
you can get it. Joel Embiid signs a contract extension
(01:54:36):
five years, eight million dollars and you're like John Bead talented?
Good makes sense? Right? Um over under? On number of
games do you think Joel Embiad has played? John Ramos,
let's play more than fifteen? That's over over fifteen games,
Dan Buyer, how many games do you think Joel Embiad
(01:54:56):
has played in his career? Without looking, I don't know
if you've looked already know? Actually all this just uh?
Is it? One games? Good? Work if you can get it, though, right,
good work if you can get it. Let's get to
the president, the press, all about the future. Merciless. Yeah,
I looked up the pronunciation guide. Yeah, that is what
(01:55:17):
it is. I thought it was wrong. No, I think
you're good to go. I spent my whole time thinking
I was wrong and that I'm an idiot. And now
I know I'm still an idiot, but I was at
least not just no, don't listen to Dan, that's the
way to go. I actually I I write things out
phonetically in my scripts. And what's that you have scripts? Okay, yes, yes,
(01:55:39):
for what I for what I write out? And uh,
I just went but yeah, Marcellus, merciless, Yes, merciless, of
course I was. Yeah, that's what it was. I was
you were talking about playing in France. I was putting
the French accent on it. That's why we did it. Um,
let's know, that's what it was. That's what it was. Hey,
(01:56:01):
let's let's sucks a baseball beltron list this one on
the left field. Be attendee is going back on the
warning track, and that's off the monster. Gonzalis scores Curiel
and the third at RBI double for Beltron, the pitch hitter,
and the Astros lead. It's five to three. Oh, that
insurance run Doug was needed. The Astros hold on for
a five for win over the Astros. In Game four,
(01:56:22):
the a l ds under their first ever a LCS
on the Astros radio network. Uh. Look, I'm fastated by
this whole, by this entire thing. Now. I I still
think they don't have the bullplant bullpen too, and especially
against the Indians. On the other hand, the Indians had
the most dominant reliever we had seen in recent years,
(01:56:44):
and he gave up a home run in Game three
against the Yankees. So anything is in fact possible. Congratul
to the Astros. This is not a fluke. They have
been a dominant team in terms of hitting the base baseball.
You're loaning Cubs and Nationals right now, scoreless in the
bottom of the fifth inning. This to me is the
most intriguing series, just because I always wonder if the
Nationals are going to just be the Nationals, and I
(01:57:04):
thought that was the case Saturday night. To that lo
and behold, Ryan Zimmerman and Bryce Harper do their work.
Mac Serz are doing his work right now. For the
Nats was like a ton on the hill for the Cubs,
no doubt. No, look, I want the I want the Nat.
I just I don't love the Cubs. But I like
the idea that the Nats have never won anything, especially
with the the whole DC thing, right, Like the Capitals
(01:57:27):
can't win anything, maybe the Nats can't win anything. We'll
make it like a whole DC thing. Redskins haven't won
anything in years as well. Why not. I just think
the continuing story of them fail again in crazy ways
is something that just adds on and adds on and
adds on more to the lore. We'll see if he
continues have Dusty Baker, great guy, but one of the
best managers in baseball until the actual game begins. Giants
(01:57:49):
head coach Ben McAdoo made it official today, Odell Beckham Jr.
Going to I R. He'll need surgery and his broken
left ankle and it's done for the year. Yeah, that
was one of those deals to where you knew it
was bad the second the Chargers tackled him, hopped up
and waved over to the Giants sidelines. Aren't there different
ways to I mean, I know there's different ways to
do it, Doug, but different severities and how your ankle turns.
(01:58:11):
That one that one did not turn the right way correct.
It's like it was like the inside went out, like
sometimes if you roll it where you're you know what
I mean. Like there's different ways and the exact same thing.
It's a tough one to take it. Whitney Merciless and J. J.
Watt done for the season for the Houston Texas because
you want, Hey, I gotta give you where you know,
(01:58:33):
give credit where credit is due. The Bucketeers they got
a new kicker. Yes, the Nick Folk era done. They're
placing them on i R with a minor injury designation,
and they signed free agent kicker Patrick Murray. Something that
we talked about on Friday that was bound to happen
today was bound to happen. I mean, he was so
bad just he was he was awful. But that's the
(01:58:54):
injury distinction. Is really really interesting, isn't it. It's like,
are they doing that so he can he can make more,
he can save money? Is that? Is that a salary
cap thing? By the moment, if it's a salary or
a roster I think they're gonna have to release him. Anyway.
But I think he's he's out with hurt feelings, don't Raiders.
(01:59:16):
That's very funny Raider's offensive tackle Donald Pen Did you
see this video? Doug yesterday got in to a verbal
altercation with a fan after yesterday's game. It turns out
it may have been an extortion ploy Pen actually tweeted
out today in exchange from the fan and another person
that showed the fan that confronted him was gonna try
to get Pen to assault him so he could maybe
(01:59:38):
soothe him. What is the matter with people? I don't know,
like between not being it. I mean, first, you can't
trust the strip it with a video of you doing cocaine.
Now you can't trust a fan who you wanted to
beat up because he wanted to extort you for some money.
That that, honestly, I got a great Russian story about that.
I'll tell you in a second. Okay. Tonight A week
five wraps up Vikings Bears eight thirty Easter Tom Sam
(01:59:59):
Bradford backet. It's the debut of Mitchell Trabisky getting his
first career start tonight. The Bears at home are something
I'll take the under. I'll I think it's a fairly
low number. But give me the Bears at home tonight
against Minnesota. I will take the Vikings to win and cover.
It's about a field goal, I think is what it is. Um.
(02:00:20):
Lakers point guard Alonzo Ball didn't practice again today's spring
ankle out for tomorrow's preseason game against the Jazz. We're
just a week away, Doug. This ankle thing seems to
be hanging around a bit. Yeah. I think they're just
gonna wait until till the regular season then play him.
You know, I think they still got to establish a
backup point guard before they figure that out. And uh,
finally you touched on this earlier. ESPN suspending Jamal Hill
(02:00:42):
for two weeks. No Michael Smith tonight either, but also
mutually musically agreed that he's not gonna do the show.
I mean, look, I like but I like both of them.
I know both of them, especially Michael really really well. Um.
I just think she's gone down a path to where
you're like, you can't call out your sponsors, man, and
the ratings aren't good enough to be doing this, Like
(02:01:03):
at some point you're just gonna cut fait. I get
that these are all good stunts to bring attention to
the show, but it hasn't. Their numbers haven't gone up
at all. They've stayed flat. And the way it works
in cable television is if you can't carry the number
and build the audience as you get late in the
day part, you're not doing your job more so than anything.
And finally, Doug Um one other note at least up
(02:01:24):
from that company, ESPNS for going their annual twenty four
hour college basketball tip off marathon this season, so there
will be no Monmouth game at six am on a
Tuesday morning. Were you ever a part of that when
you're over there? Yeah, I actually, um, I actually did
a call play by play of a game writer versus Drexel,
(02:01:47):
and then I would I drove back to that's like
near Princeton, New Jersey, that drove back to Bristol and
did a studio that night. Yeah, we used to do
that a couple of Um it's really cool for basketball people,
but I'm guessing that they're doing it to cut costs.
Back it out and pressed. That was the press. M
Mark Layer with the Jones tomorrow. So will Durrell rivus tomorrow.
(02:02:09):
Don't let the name full of you Dollar Shave Club
has way more than just razors. Their first month starter
set which travel size shave, butter, body cleanser, butt wipes,
and the Executive razor, all for just five dollars. After that,
replacement cartrid ship for just a few bucks a month.
Get yours at dollar Shave Club dot com slash got
uh our mats? Call right now, Ryan Music? Who do
(02:02:29):
you like? I'm gonna go with the Bears plus three
and a half is what I'm saying. You like Bears
plus three and a half? What about you? Ramos Rookie,
I'm gonna take Bradford's back. I'll take the Vikings. I
like the Vikings defense. I like Stefon Diggs. I don't
like the fact they don't have Dalvin Cook. But running
backs can be replaced, can be replaced. Well, we had
(02:02:50):
just about everything this weekend. And what's amazing about it
is there wasn't even time to mention how incredible Iowa
State's upset of Oklahoma was. Maybe we'll get to that tomorrow. Plus,
why is and Durrell Reeves in the league? Is he washed?
