(00:26):
Doug gottlip Show, Fox Sports Radio. Something weird happened to
my television set last night. It looked like a professional
football game with star players playing football. I was kind
of not ready for it, right, No preseason games, no
(00:47):
Hall of Fame game where you see like a guy
for like one snap, like oh, here it comes, here
comes Traegman, There goes Traegman, right, Like I mean, without
preseason football, without college usually you know, like usually like August,
you have the Hall of Fame game, then you got
preseason games. Then we crank it up and we got
the first college football weekend, and then you have NFL
(01:09):
games with Thursday night football in the pomp and circumstance
or whatever. We got rid of all of that stuff
and we just had Pat Mahomes and Deshaun Watson. Well
that was cool and uh shockrafy heart dumb if you
heard this before, but the Chiefs are better than the Texans,
although the Texans did beat him in the regular season
last year. I would make this This is was my
(01:29):
opening salvo to start the show. Peter King joins us
now on The Doug Gotlip Show on Fox Sports Radio.
Peter I started the show saying, I don't think Kansas
City is as good as they were last year. I
actually think they're better than they were last year because
you know, like in the last year and a half,
they haven't had that elite level running back that Clyde
(01:51):
Edwards Hilaire gives them. Now you add that to what
they already had. The time I mean time of possession
was their downfall last year. They scored two quick they
couldn't just dominate the line of scrimmage, they couldn't really
run play action. They just weren't the same team. And
I think they're I think they're better. Do I have
Is that valid in any way? Well? They look better
(02:12):
last night, um, and I think you One of the
really interesting points to me is they had two big issues.
I saw it, maybe let's say three big issues. Um.
One of the issues was Laurent duvern A Tardif starting guard, uh,
starting guard on their Super Bowl team is gone, they
(02:35):
plug it in with Collecchio smile. Uh. And then obviously
Damian Williams, who became a big star in the Super
Bowl with two touchdowns and a hundred yards rushing. Uh,
he's gone. And so you wondered, man, how are they
going to do that? And I swear Chris Cowen's worth
almost highlighted though Emily about six times last night and said,
(02:56):
oh my god, what a game he's having. He's unbelievable.
And I kept thinking to myself, Man, can you imagine
poor Laurent duvern A Tardy sitting there up in Canada. Uh,
probably had the twenty four hour shift, Uh, you know,
a medical shift, because obviously he opted out because he
(03:17):
wanted to work in the medical field and didn't feel
like he should leave that. You imagine him watching that
and thinking, oh my god, they don't miss me at all.
And then obviously Clyde Edwards hilaria hundred and thirty eight yards.
People are wondering about their depth at corner. They got
really good cornerback play last night. So I think you're right,
(03:39):
But I do think though does The question is not
necessarily how do they look? On uh September tent everybody
knew that the Chiefs were going to come out whirring
out of the box. But you know, for the last
fifteen years, this Super Bowl champion, UH might start to
(04:00):
eason looking like the clear best team in football, But
then what happens fifteen years in a row, They aren't
the best team by the end of the year. So uh,
you know, we'll see what happens. But I certainly would
agree with you. They look better last night than they
did in the last game of last year. Breeze versus Brady,
two guys who we want to think that that they're
(04:21):
they're always gonna be father time. They will not um
now a sudden. You know, Mike Evans looks like he's
out for the Tampa Buccaneers. That that changes how we
look at at Tampa. But what are your thoughts on
this matchup of two first ballot Hall of famers? You know,
a couple of things to look for. Number one, Yeah,
you know without Evans, Uh, you know, they've got a
(04:43):
tremendous array of weapons and tech. I was in Tampa
for two days in August, and I told everybody, listen,
I understand you're gonna think I'm ridiculous for saying this,
but your make your last round picks Scottie Miller, And
everybody said Scotty Miller. And you know, he's this Smurphy
(05:04):
five seven guy who runs a four three two. Brady
has fallen in love with him. He sends them on
these nine routes deep down field. Uh. And I don't know.
I think he's gonna catch some home run balls from
Brady this year, maybe starting Sunday. We'll see um. But
then obviously you've still got a really good white out,
(05:25):
maybe a top fifteen white out, and Chris Godwin and
the deepest tight end group in the NFL. So I
won't be weeping for Brady too much because he doesn't
have Mike Evans on Sunday. UM. And on the other side,
I think the real big question with the Saints is that, look,
they've had three crushing post seasons in a row. And
(05:48):
you know, I'm not saying they're gonna have a hangover
there they you know, should they have a hangover, But
you know, this is one of those things at some point.
Bill Parcels used to say, hey, man, you are which
you are, and they have to break this cycle that
they're in. And part of breaking the cycle that they're
in is making absolutely sure that they win the division
(06:11):
against a tough and rising Tampa Bay team. I know
this sounds crazy, but I think New Orleans has one
of the most important games anybody has in Week one.
They've got to win their division, you know, in order,
in my opinion, to have a really good chance to
to either win home field or to get one of
(06:32):
a higher seeds in the NFC this year. Obviously, there's
a lot of UH. There's a lot of people who
follow the NFL that are really intrigued by what Arizona
UH is doing and what they will be they take
on the San Francisco for have some injury concerns, um
if they we assume they're going to have a game
with the air quality issues. But let's let's let's assume
(06:54):
I thought Murray was outstanding, really improved. He is to
me what so many hope Baker Mayfield could be, as
an undersized guy that can make every throw, make every
play with his arms and with his legs. And now
they give him DeAndre Hopkins. But are they do do
NFL people or do you think that they're at the
level of a playoff caliber team? Have just one year
(07:16):
under uh Cliff Kingsbury. They're one of those teams that
I thought very seriously about picking, um, you know, to
be a wild card team, because I think they could
be absolutely explosive. I think DeAndre Hopkins could catch a
hundred balls and be a sixteen hundred yard receiver. I mean,
(07:38):
they really look like a good team to me. Um,
I didn't end up picking them to make the playoffs,
but it wouldn't surprise me. I think the biggest issue
is that the teams in the NFC West are really
going to beat the crap out of each other, and um,
I think it's gonna be hard for more than two
teams to make the playoffs. I just really like Seattle
(08:00):
and San Francisco a tick better. But you're right, they wouldn't.
It wouldn't surprise me if they, uh, if they won
nine or tenants snug in as a six or seventh seed.
I'm I'm intrigued by you. You love I mean, I
don't love, but really like the Miami Dolphins more so
than most people. I'm stunned that there's such a sizeable
(08:20):
underdog against New England team they beat last year. You're
being back Ryan Fitzpatrick. We all know at the start
of a year like that guy can lead a team
um out of the locker room and you feel like
you can give you a chance. Weeks one through six,
You're not concerned about Ryan Fitzpatrick. It's it's everything else.
They've added talent, whereas the Patriots kind of decimated by
guys like Dante Hi Tower opting out. And while I'm
(08:43):
intrigued to see Cam Newton, I still don't know how
they're gonna be better offensively than they were last year,
considering they didn't help his weaponry around him. What are
your thoughts on Miami taking on New England start to
see it? I mean, I can't really explain why I
like Miami as much as I do. I just think
(09:04):
there is a toughness that Brian Flores has uh sort
of has instilled in his team and in that organization.
You know, is there any good logical reason why after
Halloween last year, Miami, which started horribly and lost to
the Patriots forty three to nothing early, Is there any
(09:27):
good reason that after Halloween they had a better record
than the New England Patriots. I mean that kind of stuff.
You just say, well, jeez, you look at the team.
It it'll look great, you know, Josh, I'm sorry. Ryan
Fitzpatrick is is a you know, a serviceable guide. But
I think it's it's it's one of those the whole
(09:50):
is the some of the parts type deal. You know,
the whole is better than the parts. And what I
really like about them coming into this year is that
I think they're building a good young defense. Uh, and
they've got at some point two is going to play,
(10:11):
and he will lend a real difficulty, uh, you know,
to beating them, I think. And then I think the
one other thing I kind of like about him right
now is that, um, I just in look, I just
trust right now Ryan Fitzpatrick to play and to win
games right now today at this moment, more than I
(10:33):
do Josh Allen. And that could change. It's like, I
am not sure whether they're gonna trust Jimmy Jimmy Garoppolo
all the way right now based on what I saw
the last month of last season. So you know, they
can really they can rewrite those narratives Doug But uh,
you know, I I just like the veteran, the veteran
(10:57):
toughness and and and and Brian Flores and the type
of leader he has been very early in Miami. What's
been Roethlisberger's gonna look like him? We haven't seen him
in a year. Two years ago he threw a lot
of picks, but he did throw five thousand, five thousand yards.
Then he has a surgery that NFL players quarterbacks just
don't have, right like, they just don't have that kind
(11:18):
of injury and come back and play. He's always had
a huge arm and made huge plays. Everybody thinks their
defense is gonna be good. What's Roethlisberger gonna look like
when we see him? Well, that's a great question. He's
thirty eight years old, he's missed twenty two games due
to injury in the last five years, and you know,
I don't know what to think about him other than everything.
(11:40):
And I did not go to their training camp, so
I wish I could have seen him throw for an
hour and a half one day, but I didn't. I
haven't seen him throw, but everybody says his arm looks great.
He was quoted late in camp as saying that, you know,
he's been really surprised that he could throw two days
(12:01):
in a row, UM, and he thinks that the rhythm
of the season is really going to help him. Because
I'm sure that they will have him throw one of
the practice days will be very light. He probably will
throw very little on Saturday and on Monday, and so
I think and I think their plan is to start
(12:23):
to try to nurse them through this season, and we'll
see if they can. But I think at least at
the start of the year, Uh, this is a good
game for them to start with because I do not
trust the giant secondary. Um. They've lost probably their top
three corners from last year, and so even though they
(12:45):
you know, they may have a better pass rush than
people think. I think this is a good first matchup
for Roethlisberger to have coming back after most of the
year off. Packers go to Minnesota. Do you know Hunter
not gonna plays on the I I are you combine
that with no home field advantage because of of COVID,
I feel like this is this should be a huge,
(13:08):
huge chance for the Packers to get a divisional win
against the team that normally would would give them fits.
What do you think the Packers going to Minnesota, Well,
I think the Neil Hunter is almost as important as
Dalvin Cook in this game. And it just adds to
the significance of getting Yannick in Gockway and needing him
(13:32):
to hit the ground running in his first game UM
as a Viking, because obviously you want to bother Aaron Rodgers, uh,
you know, as much as he can. Um. I probably
like Minnesota in this game even without Hunter, but that
makes it a little bit more problematic. And again I
(13:52):
will stress, as I've been saying throughout the offseason that
you know, the Green Baker Packers in the New England
Patriots had awful uh skill position groups last year wide receiver,
tight end overall, and neither of them. The Patriots spent
(14:13):
two third round picks on on tight ends but basically
did nothing to their wide receiver group. The Packers did
nothing to their wide receiver group. They get some injured
guys back, but I think that you know, the best
friends of the Vikings this week is you know the
(14:34):
fact that Aaron Rodgers right now is going to have
to be a superior player in all ways for the
Packers to win eleven or twelve games this year because
I just don't think he's gonna have a lot of
help on the outside. You like, what do you like
where the Raiders are? I ended up picking the Raiders
as as a playoff team in the a f C.
(14:57):
You know, Uh, Mike May has drafted an incredible number
of guys from huge pro college programs, and it's almost
like he's picking the All America team every year to
come and play for the Raiders UM. And so that
would that right there. Uh, it just tells me that
(15:19):
probably the Raiders UM are going to be more ready
than some teams early on without the preseason of playing
well in September, you know, versus say some other teams
with a huge influx of new talent on the roster.
So I don't know, We'll see what happens, but I
(15:40):
would be I'd be surprised if they don't, if they
don't try to send Henry Rogues deep early and often
in Carolina. On Sunday, you can check out Peter King's
Football Morning in America at Pro Football Talk dot NBC
Sports dot Com. He's the one and only legendary Peter King.
Peter is so great to have you on the show
and awesome to have football on our TV. Thanks for
(16:01):
joining us. Sounds great, Thank you. Doug. All Right, Peter's
got bucks Ravens in the Super Bowl, buying into Tom
Brady and of course the Ravens who haven't won a
playoff game but have been dominant in the regular season
since Lamar Jackson took over. Going back two years ago
or a year and a half ago, everybody loves the Ravens.
You'd be shocked to find out why I'm picking the
(16:21):
Browns on Sunday. That's up coming next. Be sure to
catch the live edition of The Doug gott Leap Show
weekdays at three p m. Easter noon Pacific on Fox
Sports Radio and the I Heart Radio Whap Doug Otlip
Shup Back Radio. Every week at this time, we will
give you picks that will make you money. Don't believe me.
(16:43):
Last season against the spread in the NFL fifty three
and thirty eight that is documented. We will continue to document,
which probably means will regress towards the mean to the
mean this year. We do so usually by picking five
and pro and five and colle I'm not doing the
five in college this week. It's just it's too hard,
(17:04):
and there's frankly not five true lines for games that
I want to pick. Imagin gonna give you out picks.
I don't believe in. I ain't that kind of guy.
And if I screw up the picks, that's okay. I
can screw up the picks and pick the wrong teams,
but it's not because of any other reason. Then I
thought something, I felt something, I researched something. So we'll
just do NFL this week. It's part of our five
(17:24):
for five. I won't win. Well, we got a five
NFL five College it's five for five, which Doug Godli,
let's go. There's a lot of things we cannot calculate
with no fans, and the biggest one is home field
home court advantage, Like, really, what's the advantage? I mean,
(17:46):
I guess you travel, right, but okay, you travel. I
don't know how that actually affects things. There's no home fans.
Especially week one of the season. You usually even a
place like since they would have a packed house, but
now there's no packed house. Chargers come in their three
(18:06):
point dogs. The Bengals were far and away the worst
team in the NFL last year, which is why they
got the number one overall pick. Joe Burrow might be
the real deal as he returns to his home state
of Ohio, but he has no preseason football games. He
has not taken a single snap in the Nation Football League.
The Chargers have one of the most talented rosters in
the NFL top to bottom, even without Derwin James. You
(18:26):
can tell me you don't like Tyrod Taylor long term.
That's fine. That's fine, but he doesn't turn it over
uh and he is mobile. Two things that's the opposite
of Philip Rivers. They got great. They got a great
pass rush and improved offensive line. This is a damn
good football team against the Bengals team that returns Joe
Mixon and A. J. Green's back. But they got a
(18:48):
rookie quarterback, a reworked offensive line which should be better
but still brand new. And then of course you've got
a defense which has just been future the past couple
of years. This is such an easy pick to me.
I love the charge Yers getting three points, see me
giving three points. Take the Chargers. The Seahawks are taking
(19:08):
on the Falcons. Falcons are one of the best teams
at the end of the season last year, six and two,
four straight wins, including over the forty niners in San
Francisco to end the season. I'm not really sure we
have with the with the Seahawks on the road, usually
a team that doesn't always travel all that well plays
great at home. I know sometimes there's been some variance.
Is going back to last year some of the Falcons
(19:32):
I like, and they're two and a half point dogs
at home against the Seahawks. You've got the knowledge of system,
the knowledge of quarterback because I mean, look, the head
coach of the Falcons, obviously a long time ago, used
to be with the Seahawks. I just all that stuff
sounds great. Um, you know what. I'm a circle back
(19:54):
around the Seahawks Falcons. Brown's taking on the Ravens. Browns
and a full makeover in the offseas newfront office, new
head coach. But they return a ton of town on
the defensive side of the football, a ton, And I
think Kevin Stefanski solid. I think they'll be well coached.
They beat the Ravens last year with a head coach
who was in over his head. Now Baker Mayfield has
(20:15):
a year more of experience, He's lost some weight, he's
got two talented running backs and reworked offensive line. It's
not that I don't like the Ravens. I just don't
like the Ravens getting seven half points when the Browns
had the entire officelys and prepare for this game. Give
me the Browns and the seven a half Dolphins six
and a half point Dogs historically bad to start last season,
(20:35):
but they finished five and four with the win over
the Patriots. New England's lost Tom Brady, cayl Van Oi,
Dante hi Tower, other pieces due to the pandemic. They
didn't add any other playmakers other than Cam Newton. And
it's not that I think Cam Newton is gonna stink.
I don't know how healthy he'll remain. It's just I
don't know who throw too. And why would they be
so much better when they're clearly worse on defense. I
(20:57):
think they'll run the football. I think it's a short
and game game. But the better the two quarterbacks is
gonna be Ryan Fitzpatrick, because this is Ryan fitzpatrick Time
first couple of games of the season when he's an
absolute star. I don't like I love the Dolphins getting
six nap points. Give me the Dolphins Everybody talks about
(21:20):
the Arizona Cardinals, and I bought into this a little
bit as well. But how good are the Arizona Cardinals
who they beat last season? They did beat the Seahawks
last season, thumped them, thumped them. But outside of that,
it's Atlanta non playoff team. Giants don playoff team like go. Look,
they won five games four against non playoff teams, and
(21:41):
I don't think adding DeAndre Hopkins makes them that much
better offensively. I look at the Niners and I think
this is a super talented team to kick the crap
out of even the even the Green Bay Packers in
the NFC Championship game. Garoppolo is gonna be better, not worse.
It still have George Kittle, right, They still have the
running backs, don't they? They still have Kyle Shanahan. They
(22:04):
made a couple of tweaks, couple adjustments. Niners are way better.
Give me the Niners, alright. So going back around, I
like the Falcons at home against Seattle two and a
half points. Dan Quinn, obviously a long time ago, was
in Seattle. He knows what Seattle wants to do. Uh,
Seattle took a while to come around to their three
(22:24):
running backs last year Chris Carson. Of course they all
got to hurt before the playoffs. This is not me
defaming in any way. Russell Wilson, who's who's great. But
that's a team that's usually better at home, traveling halfway
across the country against the Falcons, team that I think
figured things out mid season. Given the Falcons and my
bonus pick of the week, so it's a five or five,
(22:45):
but I'm giving you a bonus pick. Raiders are rebuilding,
but they're like in year three of the rebuild the Panthers.
Panthers are rebuilding, but they're in year one of the rebuild.
You have a coach who has never been a head
coach in the NFL game against Jon Gruden, who has
coached ten years in the NFL and won a Super Bowl.
Like I just Matt Rules a culture guy, but in
(23:06):
terms of wins or losses, John Gruden knows you gotta
win now. Um. They're better at quarterback with Derek Carr.
Not that I don't like Teddy Bridgewater, He's okay. Obviously
Caroline is better at running back. That's about it. Carolina
gutted this team. They are starting over and when you're
starting over against the team it started over two years ago.
Giving the team that started over two years ago, the
(23:30):
Las Vegas Raiders will be undefeated and win by more
than three points. Those are my picks. Five there it
is five NFL five College five for five with Doug
gottlie Be sure to catch the live edition of The
Doug Gottlieb Show weekdays at three p m. Easter noon Pacific.
(23:51):
Pasty question, Dan, what's the most interesting thing to you
in the NFL? Don't You don't have to go like,
what what's the most because so if you're around Sunday
while the NFL games are going on, you need to
listen to Fox Sports Radio. Dan Buyer's got you covered.
Dan Um, like, just to you personally, what's the most
interesting thing? Because I think there's like you go through
every team and something's interesting. Yes. Absolutely, And I'm not
(24:14):
trying to be that guy to be like, well, I
said this and I said that. But on the latest
episode of the podcast, on the latest episode of the
I Want Your Next podcast, you mentioned it with your
conversation with Peter King that I think the Ben Roethlisberger
return is a huge, huge deal for a variety of
reasons and if I can quick lay them out, Number one,
just Hall of Fame quarterback returning from major elbow surgery.
(24:37):
Huge deal. We also don't know if Juju Smith Schuster
is a number one wide receiver because the last time
that everything was going right for the Steelers, Antonio Brown
was on the opposite side of the field at that point.
And for a defense that everybody seems to love, including myself,
in a division that should be amazing to watch throughout
(24:58):
the year. I think that his sta us if it
was if it was another quarterback coming back from that injury,
I think it would have gotten a lot more national attention.
But that's my biggest, you know, storyline that I that
I think from week one is what is big Ben
no idea? And I think it would be similar in music.
I'm gonna ask you the same question, well, like, what
(25:19):
does Cam Newton look like? Right? Like we all do
you get people like, oh, Cam new was the MVV
like dude that was five years ago. He's had a
bunch of surgeries on a different team and he's playing
for the Patriots. I do think it's different though with
the Steelers, because I know last year just wasn't like
a Steeler like year, you know, because because of his injury.
But if Ben isn't Ben, it's an end of an era,
(25:41):
and this just wouldn't be the start of an era
if it's not Cam. Sorry Ryan, at what you got? Ryan, Well,
I'm sort of torn between two, but I will go
with what seems like a very obvious one. And we
almost talked so much about it. It's lost steam. But
seeing Tom Brady in a different uniform for the first
time ever gonna be weird. It's certainly up there as
(26:02):
like the most interesting thing to watch. I mean, like
I said, we spent so much time talking about him
leaving New England. It sort of feels like it's almost
been played out that it's crazy that, like the actual
first game without preseason games is finally here. I'm also
really curious to see what Dak Prescott's going to be
like this year, because he put up so many stats
(26:23):
last year but they weren't good, and then to him
end up on the franchise tag and then they draft
Ceedee Lamb. I will be very curious to see if
they actually win games against good teams this year. Rama's
what's most interesting. I have to. I think the Las
Vegas Raiders. I think seeing them in the Vegas, see
how it all transcends, see if it kind of uplifts
them this season. And also your Chargers. They basically had
(26:47):
the same team as they had last year, which was
a very good team defensey for obviously the last Jowan
James the injury, But will Tyra Taylor be something that
enhances them or decreases them after the loss of Philip Rivers?
So yeah, I mean, like then Philip Rivers in in Indy,
what does he have left? It's like the most it's
like the least talked about because there were so many
(27:10):
other quarterbacks. It's like the least talked about thing, right now, Yes, totally,
Like like again, Dan is a guy who knows so
much and loves his league, so like right, but it
wasn't even top of mind for Dan, and it wasn't
really top of mind for me. And then you're like, oh, yeah,
we haven't even talked about that. Yeah, And and Philip Rivers.
I hate to say, but I think that we all
(27:30):
think that this is the sunset, that this is him writing,
whether it's victorious or not, that we I believe that
we assumed that his play was declining and that that
was the where whereas someone maybe you know, like a Brady,
even though he showed possible uh a decline in play
(27:51):
last season, we look at it as a fresh start
where it's completely different with Philip Rivers for some reason. No,
I'm I'm I'm with you guys on that one. Um,
I'm interested in Sam Donald and what he looks like
with the Jets. They finished strong, But do you guys know,
do you know who his his starting wide receivers aren't
like without looking? Without looking, Dan, you you're obviously running
(28:11):
the Do you know who's wife is? Uh one? Yeah?
And top they just lost Josh Bellamy. Chris Hogan is
Chris Chris Hogan cast off from the Patriots, like Patriots
who have a terrible wide receiving corps didn't want Chris
Hogan anymore, the formula crosse player and he's starting for
the Jets. And Jamison Crowders yea, yeah, Jamison Crowdy yep, right,
(28:34):
Like that is it might not matter because I look,
I think Sam Donald's nasty. I think he's really good
like he he makes he makes dudes look a lot better. Um,
you got the Bears thing with the two quarterbacks. You
got Matt Stafford, who there was talk of trading him.
You know now the sudden he's not gonna have his
He might not, did you when you're update Dan, Are
they gonna have his top wide receiver or not? No,
(28:54):
Kenny Golladay is doubtful. Yeah, and there are three point
favorites yeah against the Bears. That one does. That backfield
is questionable because DeAndre Swift, the rookie from Georgia, has
been banged up. You just signed Adrian Peterson, Kerrie and
Johnson has been there a short time, but he hasn't
necessarily been healthy. So you don't know what they're gonna
get from that backfield. They've got other weapons to Holidays
(29:17):
the number one guy. You've got Marvin Jones and Danny
Amndola and t J. Hockenson's in his second year. But
I mean, the Bears for as much of the troubles
that they have, and even though Vic Fangio left and
uh Chuck Pagano took over the the you know, it's
still a Bears defense with Khalil Mack and in others.
So when you don't have Holiday, it's gonna be an
issue that nfgy North that I think is going to
(29:39):
be um a mess um. Okay, how about this one?
Who is the James Harden of the NFL? And by that,
I'm not talking about losing in the playoffs. I'm talking
about a guy who his talent is undeniable, but you
just don't enjoy watching himply mm hmm. I what do
(30:00):
you think about that? And we'll get to it next
in the Doug Gotlip Show. Fox Sports Radio. Fox Sports
Radio has the best sports talk lineup in the nation.
Catch all of our shows at Fox sports Radio dot
com and within the I Heart Radio app. Search f
s R to listen live the press. I don't feel
(30:21):
bad for Dan by or Day. I usually pinched him
for time. He's got plenty of time. Get it all out.
Come on, I hate big fella. I hate that. Come on, dog,
little fella, come on, just dut bud fell pal, you
know that. Alright, alright, that's all right. Did you have
(30:42):
a Did you have a comp for James Harden in
the NFL? Because I was gonna star circle back around
my least favorite awesome talented player to watch in the
NFL s I did not. I could not come up
with him because I couldn't come up with now Beckham Jr.
(31:03):
Is a little bit that way. That's what you know.
I'm just like, I get it, You're good. I thought
that as well, But then I thought, maybe, like the
player's got to be a quarterback. Understand I put no,
I mean, I didn't put any limitations on it. Believe uh,
I would guess that what you're talking about is what
like I who doesn't get annoyed by every time you
(31:24):
catch it and you get a first down your point.
I know it's a first down. I can see the
little line right there that sure that football is superimposed
on it. But I also think it's the like when
you talk about the style of play, there's just some
people who are so you know, turned off by the
way that James Harden plays. And I don't know of
a style or a player with the way that they
play in the NFL that that would turn someone off.
(31:46):
And I'm not as offended by James Harden style as
much as I'm not necessary offended. Fast the ball, fast theball. Um.
I mean, some people don't like Ben Rothsburg like he
holds onto it forever, try and make a play I
don't know, just a question music. Did you come up
with one? It's funny, you guys, said Odell Beckham Jr.
(32:07):
I actually thought of his teammate, Jarvis Landry. I think
Jarvis Landry is a really good overall like football player
and wide receiver. But he's not like a burner. He's
not very flashy. So I've never been like, man, I
can't wait to watch the Browns or the Dolphins play
because I really got to see Jarvis Landry. Um can
I'm not sure that's the spirit of it. Mine Ezekiel Elliott, Yeah,
(32:30):
there's one really good, but like, yeah, I get tired
of the whole like every time he makes a runny
you have to like feed himself and it's like, Okay,
I guess I get it. Yeah, I get it. It's
a good group. All right. What do you have for
the press there, little fella? Sorry for the press? Well,
what do you got their friend friend? The Cowboys restructured
(32:53):
the contract the defensive end of Marcus Lawrence, clearing another
twelve million dollars in gap space. That's according to the
NFL network. I'm thinking it could be new deal, maybe
eorld Thomas Dacks new deal or maybe just to go
put in their pocket. I don't know. UM, I don't
think they'll add orld Thomas because I do think chemistry
(33:14):
matters unless they just have a disaster at safety and
now the Dack deal when they can't get it done
mid season, can they? Um? No, because of the franchise tag.
But it's for the for the calendar, for that for
the football year. Got it. The uh NFL. We touched
on this a little bit earlier, but NFL continuing to
monitor the air quality with Niners and Cardinals in Santa Clara.
(33:38):
NBC Sports Area did a reading where the number was
one ninety four for the air quality, and the NFL
can shut things down or make plans to do that
if the air quality is above two hundred, so slightly
below it and it's supposed to get better, so something
to at least maybe it's why we we've seen that
(33:58):
game not being moved. We may not have a game
next week in college football between Memphis and Houston. That's
because the Memphis Commercial Appeals is more than twenty people
with the Memphis football program have tested positive for COVID
nineteen with contact tracing pointing to a party bus attended
by players after last week's win against Arkansas State. M hmmm,
(34:21):
I wouldn't think that a win over Arkansas State would
require party Bus but no offense to the Red Wolves.
But maybe over maybe over the Vols. I'm with you,
I'm totally with you. That seems seems a little seems
a little extreme. Uh, seems a little extreme to me
to be to be party Bus didn't like that. Agreed
(34:44):
and so so there that that game is a week
from now and it's in question because they're trying to
figure out what the readings are. Yes, they've they've they've
twenty positives. They have also quarantined another twenty. Yeah, could
be an issue for Memphis taking on Houston. How about
some street tonight. But maybe not the first time in history,
but the Tampa Bay Rays entire starting batting lineup for
(35:05):
tonight's game against the Red Sox consists of all left
handed hitters. MLB dot Com says that it's the first
time since nineteen o one a team started a game
with all lefties in their batting order. Wow, who knew? Yeah,
I came from a small town and there were like
five kids that batted left handed, and so our batter's
(35:26):
box at our you know, one big diamond, just the
worst right in the right hand side. It was like
a foot below home plate. Totally well, I mean that's
my thing. You know, he's he's hits right handed, but
he's currently taking a break from baseball. He doesn't understand
why everybody's like, what are you doing? You're left handed
and you're good. We needed a ladder to get into
(35:47):
our batters box to climb down into it was so deep.
Uh the uh you know, you only learned to hit
the high strike because everything was a high right so
far below sea level. Right. Oh, man, Yankees taking on
the Orioles. Because the game is in progress, we can't
play any highlights from the game. That's but yesterday hit
(36:08):
in the air to write Indeed, that goes Davis looking,
she's gone, David John makes long gone. He hits a
line drive the Fins. Yankees promptly tied the game in two.
Now that was yesterday when d J. Le Mayhew hit
a home run. He hit another today they leave the
Oriols five nothing in the sixth and game one of
their doubleheader. John Sterling Yankees Radio Network with that call
(36:31):
and done a couple of NBA again. No, No, a
couple of NBA things. Uh Sham's reporting. Bucks likely to
keep Mike Budenholzer. His coach Daniel House has left the
bubble for the Rockets. They're about to leave the bubble
as well. Clippers and Nuggets in about forty minutes and
