You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 3 (00:27):
Now, the Shador Sanders era begins in Cleveland. How long
will it last? Only time will tell.

Speaker 4 (00:34):
Oh, it's gonna last a long time, a long time.
I think it is not here for a short time,
here for a long time.

Speaker 3 (00:40):
Well, we're gonna hear from Shador Sanders. We're here for
a long time. We're here for the next four hours.
So if you're lucky enough to get the Doug Gottlieb
Show and Cavino and Rich Daily, Monty and I are
filling in for both. Doug is traveling with the Green
Bay basketball team. We're on their way to the US
Virgin Islands for a tournament that starts on Friday.

Speaker 5 (01:00):
Sounds fun, right, That sounds soon skimming.

Speaker 3 (01:02):
Weekend or leading into Thanksgiving weekend. Go to the Caribbean,
play some hoops, get some Sun Absolutely, Cavino and Rich
They were in for Dan Patrick earlier today. So we
are in for everyone here on Fox Sports Radio for
the next four hours. We're talking Lebrons return, We're talking
JJ McCarthy, but we start with Shador Sanders, who, not

(01:23):
surprisingly Monty was named the starter today. As Dylan Gabriel
suffered that concussion against the Ravens in week eleven. On Sunday,
Shador replaced him. And now the long wait is over.
Cash in your bets if you at Shador Sanders starting
in week twelve of an NFL season, he is going
to get the start against the Raiders coming up on Sunday.

Speaker 4 (01:42):
You knew it was gonna happen, right, You were just
wondering when and how is it going to happen.

Speaker 5 (01:47):
But we were all waiting for this moment.

Speaker 4 (01:50):
And yeah, I'm I'm looking forward to seeing if Shadur
can spice up the offense better than Dylan Gabriel.

Speaker 5 (01:57):
Camp for the Cleveland Browns.

Speaker 3 (01:59):
Us throwing shade at Ylan Gabriel.

Speaker 4 (02:00):
It's not that I'm throwing shit, It's just he wasn't
doing anything a rookie like who you know what I mean.
There's still a lot of time for him to develop,
but he wasn't doing anything to impress me immediately where
I would keep him on the field, especially if he's
going through a concussion protocol, there's no need to rush
him back. But it did seem like in a short
amount of time that Shador Sanders was on the field,

(02:21):
there were times where the offense moved a little bit
better than it did with Dylan Gabriel.

Speaker 5 (02:27):
But it was tiny.

Speaker 4 (02:28):
It's just that Dylan Gabriel seems like he I don't
know if he if he's scared to throw, you know,
he's getting comfortable. I don't know what it is, but
it seems to me like Shador is a little bit
less scared than Dylan Gabriel.

Speaker 5 (02:42):
I don't know a short amount of time, I know,
I don't think.

Speaker 3 (02:44):
I think that Dylan Gabriel was doing what he was
asked to do.

Speaker 5 (02:48):
And that's probably it.

Speaker 3 (02:50):
And this is and there is a there is a
bigger there's a bigger picture there because I just I
think this whole situation shows in the conversation that you
and I are having today or why the Cleveland Browns
just kind of screwed everybody in the deal they screwed
in a way Joe Flacco and Kenny Pickett. They definitely
screwed Dylan Gabriel. I think the person who's talked about

(03:12):
getting screwed the least is Dylan Gabriel because he's had
the shadow of Shador Sanders behind him the whole time.
And any advantage or anything that Dylan Gabriel got, whether
it be reps in practice or a backup position or
whatever the case was, there was always, well, what a
pot Shador. And so now we've moved past that portion
of it in shaudor starting where Gabriel has a concussion,

(03:35):
and I feel like we're doing the same thing with
Dylan Gabriel.

Speaker 5 (03:37):
I mean, yeah, sorry.

Speaker 3 (03:39):
No, I was just gonna say so. That's why I
just feel like it's it's it's unfair going back to
what the Browns did in the draft in April to
set up this situation.

Speaker 4 (03:48):
You are not wrong, You are not wrong, but here
we are, and this is what the Browns have done
in this situation. And you know, I may be not
given Dylan Gabriel more credit than I should, because you're right.

Speaker 5 (03:59):
If I knew somebody was on my heels.

Speaker 4 (04:02):
Possibly trying to take my spot. How comfortable can you be? Right, Like,
how comfortable can you actually be? So maybe I'm not
giving him enough credit. But at the same time, clearly
the Browns don't know what exactly they want for their
future by making this move.

Speaker 5 (04:18):
Back in April.

Speaker 4 (04:19):
So it's like, I think we were just all expecting
it to happen. It's just how it how it was
going to happen, and when it was going to happen
is what we didn't know.

Speaker 3 (04:27):
Well, we're at the point now, so Shador is going
to start and he met the media today for the
first time as the brown starting quarterback. Here's what should
or had to say when meeting with the media.

Speaker 6 (04:37):
My development, you know, is a player and everything and
mentally everything has to speed up due to the situation.
I did everything I need to. I'm doing everything I
need to to prepare to be a bead version of
myself as possible. With the circumstances, everything i'd be sped up.
And that's great, you know, I like pressure in life.
I'm just excited for everything. So I feel like I'm

(04:58):
the guy. I know I'm the guy, but you know,
you just have to be able to see the game
gotta speak.

Speaker 3 (05:04):
He's one hundred percent right about that. Yes, and he
was asked a question about his role as the starter.
I am going to nitpick and I'm going to be
that guy. It's not about Shador. We make it about
Shador all the time. In that clip that we're going
to play again, I just I just want to hear

(05:28):
how many times we hear I and me and do
we have? I think, yeah, let's play that one again
and then we're going to play just a little bit more.
Let's let's hear it.

Speaker 6 (05:37):
My development, you know, is a player and everything and
mentally everything has to speed up due to the situation.
I did everything I need to. I'm doing everything I
need to to prepare to be a bad version of
myself as possible. With the circumstances, everything gotta be sped up.
And that's great, you know. I like pressure in life.
I'm just excited for everything. So I feel like I'm

(05:58):
the guy. I know I'm the guy, but you know,
you just have to be able to see the game.

Speaker 3 (06:02):
Got to speak. Okay, let's go to our unofficial schadour counter.
Isaac Lonkron. How many means or eyes were in that
sound bite?

Speaker 7 (06:10):
Eight was apparently enough.

Speaker 3 (06:14):
Eight eight times. And I understand that this is his
moment and it's his opportunity, and I understand that you
have to believe in yourself as a quarterback. This is
also about the team in the Cleveland Browns, whose defense
is miles ahead of what their offense is performing. So

(06:35):
you just got to go in and not mess it up.
And so for this to be about Shadoor Shador, Shador Shadeur,
it goes back to everything that we've talked about with
Shador Sanders. Of it is a me proposition and I
feel like we're already hearing it a day in the
him being named the starter for the Cleveland Browns.

Speaker 5 (06:58):
Listen, you make great stand.

Speaker 4 (07:01):
I see what you're saying. I just don't know if
I'm fully on your side here.

Speaker 5 (07:07):
You just said it. We make it about Shador Sanders.
All season.

Speaker 4 (07:12):
It's been about Shador Sanders. Even before the season started,
it was about Shador Sanders. When the Cleveland Browns had
what five quarterbacks at one point on their roster, it
was still about Shador Sanders.

Speaker 5 (07:23):
So this entire time, it's been about Shador.

Speaker 4 (07:25):
And he goes out there and he's like, well, if
you're gonna already make it about me, I may as
well also make it about me because the eyes are
on him.

Speaker 5 (07:34):
You just mentioned it.

Speaker 4 (07:35):
The defense for the Browns has been great, as it's
always been. I think Miles Garrett has more sacks than
like six teams, you know what I'm saying by himself
throughout the season, like their defense is not the problem.

Speaker 5 (07:46):
But even the offense just doing the job has not
gotten in the wins. So he can't just do the job.
He needs to do.

Speaker 4 (07:53):
Actually a little bit more, and I don't mind that.
He also let's nippick. He also said that the game,
you know, his tape, has to show it. It's not
just him being all talk. He knows he has to
put it on the field. I feel like you are
expecting a mature answer from a rookie quarterback that has
had all the attention since he was in college because

(08:15):
of his dad.

Speaker 5 (08:16):
But why would you expect that.

Speaker 3 (08:20):
Because that's what you would get from an NFL quarterback.
That's why I have my expectations.

Speaker 4 (08:26):
But we already know that Shador has a different type
of approach when it comes to life.

Speaker 5 (08:33):
His dad has family, you know what I mean.

Speaker 4 (08:34):
He's been under the microscope already since before coming into
the NFL.

Speaker 5 (08:39):
And his let's just say, he's a little cocky, right,
and I don't mind being cocky. He's a little cocky.

Speaker 4 (08:46):
So he's just kind of like, I don't know why
you're surprised at the answer. And I feel like if
he goes out and delivers for Cleveland, who cares how
many times he says me?

Speaker 3 (08:54):
And I I'll tell you why. I'm surprised because he
didn't get the job because Dylan Gabriel stunk fair. He
got the job because Dylan Gabriel can't play. So they've
gone through now three quarterbacks, moving Kenny Pickt off in
the in the preseason, Joe Flacco ends up, gets traded,
gets traded during the season after essentially being benched. Now

(09:17):
Dylan Gabriel's got this concussion. It's not that the Browns
are saying we're two and eight. We just let a
game go against the Ravens where we didn't do much offensively.
We need a spark. We're turning to Shador Sanders. They're
turned into shoot a door Sanders because there's no one
left right now. And that's why, considering everything that has

(09:38):
gone on with shador Is. I just I just want
to meet a little bit in the middle, just give
a little give a little back, and we're gonna hear
from more from Shudor do we have more from shador
in there? Iowa Sam, I think that we do in
just a little bit. But I just want him to
just to to meet, talk about the two and eight team,

(09:59):
talk about trying to get some points on the board,
getting the running game going, like those sorts of things.
It's just always about him, him, him, me, me, me, me, me, my, my, my,
my mind.

Speaker 4 (10:10):
What if he actually doesn't know how to do that yet?
How long did he actually play for?

Speaker 3 (10:16):
What?

Speaker 5 (10:18):
Yes, okay, so he didn't, you know what I'm saying.

Speaker 4 (10:20):
So I feel like that maybe his answer has to
do with the lack of experience on the field with
this team, and maybe in.

Speaker 3 (10:26):
A he was put in a crappy situation. I was
going to give him a C plus for what he
did against the Ravens and he was four of sixteen. Yeah,
I was giving him a C plus. Do you any
other quarterback that goes four to sixteen You're like, f yeah, fail.
But considering what he had to go through, the lack
of preparation that he had during the week. Again, that
falls on the Browns shoulders. But you know, at some point,

(10:48):
at some point, if you're shoudure over the twelve weeks
or the three weeks in the preseason combined with that,
or the entire offseason or the draft falling, at some point,
I think that he would get a little bit of
grace or get a little bit of room to breathe
if if he would demonstrate that sort of it's not

(11:10):
all about me, it's about the team sort of thing.
They may go to Las Vegas and win on Sunday
because the Raiders stink. Okay, the Browns defense could absolutely
dominate the Raiders and leave with a victory, and that
would then set off the Shadoor Sanders to the moon

(11:31):
hype machine that all may happen. I gave him a
C plus. But the fact is, Matzi, since he was
drafted up until now, there hasn't been much give back
from Shador And so now he gets an opportunity that
is presented to him not by merit but by default
because someone is hurt, and he still doesn't change his

(11:51):
ways and change the eyes and the knees, and it's
about me and know I'm the guy. Every NFL player
believes in themselves. We know that you wouldn't be at
that level if you don't believe in your ability. It's
just understanding what's around you is the difficulty that I
feel should Door has not been able to grasp.

Speaker 5 (12:09):
Just yet he hasn't. I still don't blame him.

Speaker 4 (12:12):
I'm pretty sure there's several quarterbacks that got their opportunity
because someone got hurt, and that what happened to Tom Brady.
I'm not saying should Door is Tom Brady, but you're saying.
You're kind of throwing that as like a you're not you.
You weren't asked to come and do something you kind
of by default as what you said. And I feel
like that's not fair. That's not fair because that happened
that he has to kind of be like, yeah, okay,

(12:34):
I didn't really you know, I didn't think i'd be
here and here I am. I I don't Why does
he have to I don't know, shrink instead of.

Speaker 3 (12:43):
Just being such a shrinking it's blending in with the team.

Speaker 5 (12:45):
But that's not his style. But that's not a style,
and we've.

Speaker 3 (12:48):
Known that's why I fell to the fifth round, and
you're right, people hate to hear that stuff, but that's it.
But he hasn't there. There hasn't been much change in
how Shaudor develops his sound bites through while this season
considering the situation, So how much has Shador really learned?
And to me, this is a this may be a
bleep you Shador Sanders tour because he thinks that he

(13:10):
was right all along. But if you're gonna get any grace,
if you're gonna get any room to breathe from the
side of people that I guess maybe don't want to
see you succeed, or at some point I have questions
about what your ability actually is, there's there's zero meet
there's zero meeting of that. If I'm a teammate of
Shador and I had teammates stick up for him, saying like,

(13:31):
we didn't even know his cadence last week. We didn't
understand what his cadence was because he didn't get any reps.
That is again on the Cleveland Browns. But instead of
being Shadoor, why not be the Cleveland Browns quarterback? And
you're saying like, well, that's because that's who Shadoor is yeah,
that's part of the problem. It's part of the problem
with it. He's gonna get zero grace this week if
he stinks it up in Las Vegas.

Speaker 5 (13:51):
I agree with you.

Speaker 4 (13:52):
I actually was gonna say, how much grace do you
think he really gets? Because I feel like you either
write there's few people like you and me, Dan, They're
kind of like, we just want to see what you
can do on the field, right, like, let us let
us see more so we can't better assess your talent
on the field, because that's what we care about. I
feel like we are part of the few people while
most people have already made their decision when it comes

(14:13):
to Shador and it's one or the other, like everyone
is on on far opposite sides. You got you and
I are like, we're not Browns fans, but we also
won't hate Browns. We kind just want to see what
ser can do on the field. I don't actually think
he gets a lot of grace in general. I think
he's under such a microscope from the beginning.

Speaker 5 (14:29):
Did he bring that on himself? Yes, yes he did.

Speaker 4 (14:33):
I know what you're I know what you're saying. I
guess I'm just here like I'm not surprised. You get
what I'm saying, Like, yeah, no, maybe that's I'm just
not surprised because you make I hear everything you're saying.

Speaker 5 (14:43):
But I guess I'm not surprised.

Speaker 3 (14:44):
There's also the point of if they're not going to
support me, then I'm just gonna be me.

Speaker 5 (14:48):
That's the whole other side of it.

Speaker 3 (14:49):
But honestly, we are the people that I guess don't
matter right in essence, But I don't think it's maybe
it's different in the locker room. I'm just hearing a
different message. What I thought was interesting was remember in
the preseason in the game where he was speaking with
Cleveland reporter Tony Rizzo and said that, you know, hey,

(15:13):
why are you always so hard on me? Why? Why
you know, why can't you say something nice about me?
I thought that that was a revealing, like SoundBite, But
again it was being filmed for Shador's so there's this
given take of it, and I think that people want
to I didn't give him that f last week, like,

(15:34):
like really, I felt that there were a couple of
good throws and to go in the face of Baltimore team,
whether you think their defense is good or not, is
a different story to not have the preparation and go
in and make the couple of throws that you made.
Good on you. Shador. The throw in the end zone
that he made that he missed, I thought was a
great throw. Four of sixteen doesn't tell the story. And
I think most of the country who was watching the
Chiefs and Broncos so they didn't see what Shador was.

(15:56):
But you were in the studio. I was in the studio.
We were watching that Browns game. He wasn't as bad
as the numbers would say. So there is an essence, Manzi,
of people trying to support his case. I just sometimes
thinks he makes it difficult by always talking about himself.
And we'll see if that changes this week. We'll see
if it changes after the game against the Raiders. But
this wasn't earned. This was this is he's next in

(16:20):
line because of an injury. And so that's where the
disconnect for me is is you're stepping into a spot
because a player got hurt, not because it's your time
to shine.

Speaker 5 (16:30):
And I think this is where that not the excuse
of anything.

Speaker 4 (16:35):
But now that he is starting, and let's say he
doesn't do well, he is going to have to.

Speaker 5 (16:39):
Change his tune.

Speaker 4 (16:41):
But right now, why change your tune yet when you
haven't been given the proper opportunity.

Speaker 5 (16:46):
Does that make sense?

Speaker 3 (16:48):
Yeah, I get what you're saying. You're like, prove me
wrong or I want to be proven wrong before I
change my tune correct. And that's like the point of like,
all right, well then you you really aren't willing to
do that.

Speaker 5 (16:59):
And I also, sorry, that's why I lose this train
of thought.

Speaker 4 (17:01):
Sorry, you're talking about how he brought up to the
reporter earlier in the season of like why don't you
say something nice to me? He has to one hundred
percent be fully aware of how much people talk about him.
You know, they tell you, don't read comments about yourself,
don't read things about yourself on the internet. It's really
hard to not do that, to completely detach yourself. All
he sees is people talking about him, and I feel

(17:23):
like that's that's why he answered the questions like that too,
Like it has to he.

Speaker 5 (17:27):
I don't think he.

Speaker 4 (17:28):
Really genuinely turns ahead and is like, I don't know
what's being said about me.

Speaker 3 (17:32):
No, he knows, Yeah, I know he does, And reporters
are asking him questions about himself, so he's asked answering
those in certain situations. I just think also just with
a little aware with all you can also direct it
back to the team. To your point, I don't think
Tom Brady when he filled in for Drew Bledsoe was saying,
all right, it's my time to shine, like I'm I'm
built for that, and I'm paraphrasing.

Speaker 4 (17:53):
Of course, was saying, and obviously a different trajectory of
their career where some people thought he was going to
go in the first round falls to the fifth round.
Like there's context to the story right as to why
he's speaking like it's my turn and I have to
show you on the field, you know what I mean,
Like there's just so much to it.

Speaker 5 (18:11):
I guess again, I'm just non surprised.

Speaker 3 (18:14):

I might Dan Byer on Fox. He can find Moncey
at Moncey Bolognos. Lebron James made his debut for the
twenty third season an NBA record last night for the

(20:19):
Los Angeles Lakers as they topped the Utah Jazz one
forty to one twenty six. Luca had thirty seven and ten.
Lebron had his own double double as well in the
season debut, ended up playing thirty minutes in the contest,
but a modest double double eleven points in twelve assists.
So Lebron is back for season twenty three. Monsey and

(20:40):
the Lakers now eleven and four after that victory as
he starts a month late into the season.

Speaker 4 (20:46):
Yeah, I mean, it's really awesome that Lebron James can
play in the NBA this longer. Several players you know
that are playing long NBA careers and playing at a
high level.

Speaker 5 (20:57):
It's not just Lebron. Steph Curry is out of his
mind right now. James Harden.

Speaker 4 (21:01):
The Clippers would have zero wins if it was and
we don't have many, but we would have zero if.

Speaker 5 (21:04):
It wasn't for James Harden.

Speaker 4 (21:06):
There's a lot of longevity that we're seeing, which is
pretty awesome and good for Lebron James. Perfect game for
him to return to a team that doesn't play a
lot of defense.

Speaker 5 (21:15):
You know what I'm saying, That Utah Jazz score, that's
how they beat he No, no, no, no, no, no
no no.

Speaker 4 (21:22):
What I'm saying is what a perfect game to you know,
insert yourself back into the lineup with because they don't
play a lot of defense. They do score a lot,
but the Utah Jazz are not a threatening team. And
it was interesting to see how he would go and play.
And I think Luca still had it. Seemed like he

(21:43):
was cautious in how he inserted himself in the offense.
I felt like, just watching the game, eyeball test like
Luca had the ball majority of the time and then
maybe Austin Reeves had it also a chunk of time.
I felt like he did a good job in his
first game back. But I just want to see later
on in a month how the Lakers look, because without Lebron,

(22:04):
the Lakers have looked really fast. You add Lebron in
with a Luca who's not as fast, I wonder how
much it's gonna slow them down. And right now, the
only team, like I know, in football, we have no
idea who's gonna come out of the NFL Right now,
early on.

Speaker 5 (22:17):
It seems like nobody's gonna stop. Okay see from.

Speaker 3 (22:19):
Repeating, yeah maybe not, probably not. Denver looks good they
do so far early on. The thing that I think
that is interesting to take away from last night and
your point about about the older players faring well so far.
That's what happens when you have an entire offseason to
rest up. You could play the first month of the season. Now,
we'll see as the attrition rolls on and the season

(22:41):
rolls on, on where that goes and if players are
able to stay healthy. And last night, I know it's
not it's not ideal, but there's a way that you
have to handle Lebron, and I felt that the way
to handle Lebron was perfect last night in the sense
of everyone else got a head start and Lebron says, yeah,

(23:04):
I'll catch up. I'll catch up a month later. Whether
the sciatica was was real, whether it's them just trying
to load manage him throughout the season, no really reason
for him to to play in the first month of
the year. Lebron has shown his ability to be a

(23:25):
distributor twelve assists last night in the contest. He has
no problem doing that. But he's also able to turn
it on and off. And many who have followed the NBA.
Rick Buker, a friend of the dou Gottlieb Show, you know,
I said it like, when Lebron wants to get his,
he'll get his. We've seen that throughout his career, Lebron

(23:45):
will get people involved in the first half and then
the second half he'll take over because it's his team.
Well now it's not his team anymore because it's Luca's
and now it's the Austin Reeves factor that's moving in.
So what dawned to me last night Montian watching it
is that Lebron probably should take another month off in January, right,
and then acclimate himself because this is how Lebron, because

(24:10):
Lebron takes up a lot of air in the room, absolutely,
and he always has for the NBA. I said, I
said it a year and a half ago that I
thought he should retire because I feel he's stunting the
growth of others because we're still worried about Lebron. Well,
now there's something that's kind of natural happened with the
Lakers where you actually have a player and there are
very very few players that would be able to eclipse

(24:32):
Lebron's stardom. Not overall, Lebron's always going to be a
bigger star, but currently as they are playing right now,
Luca is a bigger deal than Lebron is because of
where Luca is in his career and where Lebron is
in year twenty three, So it's better for Lebron to
come in and try to save the day or add
that added element that the Lakers don't need, or the

(24:53):
Lakers may need down the stretch run that they wouldn't
have if he is out and become almost the savior
because he's not going to be the King. He needs
to come in and help ease a Lakers team that's
sitting there fourth in the West right now, and whether
they can beat Oklahoma City or not. I think for
Lebron in his way, play a couple of months, play

(25:13):
through Christmas, take another six weeks off, come back after
the All Star break, come in, try to save the
day for the Lakers, and then be there and be
that piece in the stretch run, which I think helps
his ego because he looks like he's the guy that
saves the team and also allows Luca and Austin Reeves
and the others to play together as a team.

Speaker 5 (25:31):
I mean, you're not wrong.

Speaker 4 (25:31):
I think Lebron is waiting for the playoffs to come
and he's gonna let Luca and Austin and DeAndre Ayton
handle the scoring and then He's waiting for the final
two minutes in the fourth quarter of a close game
where he goes down and blocks a shot, and that's
his moment, right, Like, I just have a hard time
believing that he can actually relinquish.

Speaker 5 (25:55):
I think he can defense like that.

Speaker 4 (25:56):
I know, I know he like for an entire season,
a game here and there, sure, but when it matters,
I don't see that.

Speaker 3 (26:03):
There is no better manipulator in the game than Lebron
James exactly, and I mean with everything, absolutely everything, even
within the game, like he is able to control it.
And that's where I think his advantage is if he
can manipulate the situation to make it look like.

Speaker 4 (26:19):
Like he's the hero when in reality you had five
percent of the success here, like you were responsible for
one percent of it.

Speaker 3 (26:24):
Yes, yeah, gives that extra booth correct boost. Maybe they
go on an eight and two run when he returns.
Like your point about the schedule may have been convenient,
may have been because there's a game tonight and they've
got three days off until they play the Jazz again.
Maybe all that fits. The timeline was exact. By the way,
the timeline was three to four weeks the NBA season

(26:44):
opened on I believe the twenty first of the twenty second,
and so we're sitting here about a month out, so
it was three to four weeks that timetable was on point,
which tells me.

Speaker 5 (26:55):
They knew they had a set plan. Yes, this wasn't
Let's wait and see how he reacts.

Speaker 3 (27:00):
To treat this.

Speaker 5 (27:01):
They were like, he's actually pretty good, but we're going
to keep him out.

Speaker 4 (27:04):
And you're probably onto something now if they do this
again in January, we're going to go buy a lot
of tickets.

Speaker 5 (27:08):
Because you've been on it. If it's true that in
January we hear it again.

Speaker 3 (27:11):
I've actually felt the same thing about Russell Wilson. Like
Russell Wilson is the problem was, and now that the
train may have left the station, but the problem was
he always wanted to be the starter. Yeah, but last
year in Pittsburgh, like Justin Fields was the starter early on,
and then Russ took over. Justin Field's played pretty well
and the Steelers were winning games when Russ started early on.
When taking over then mid season, the Steelers were pretty good.

(27:34):
We're saying, see yow. Now, it didn't last. It didn't last.
But there was a point where We're like, Okay, Yeah,
Russell Wilson is the better option, a better thrower than
justin Fields. And I think that would help with Lebron
and the Lakers. And maybe there's a point where Luca's
gonna need a rest, maybe in February at some point,
so then Lebron comes in. That's how I would navigate

(27:55):
this if I'm the Lakers. But you have to do
it to make sure that you don't hurt Lebron's feelings
if he going to be a member of the Lakers
for this entire season.

Speaker 5 (28:02):
I worry about grown man. Ask his feelings.

Speaker 3 (28:05):
You also have to see if you need him to
possibly trade him. To be quite honest, there's no way.

Speaker 5 (28:10):
There's no way he would accept a trade to the Knicks.

Speaker 3 (28:18):
I think that there could be a possibility. I don't
think that it's I don't think it's on the horizon.
I don't think that he will be traded. However, it
also would allow them to do their due diligence and
seeing how does this work out, at least in this stage,
But it would be it would be you can manipulate
that and Lebron see them, have them play through, have
them play for the next month through the Christmas Day
game and then go from there and see where you are.

Speaker 4 (28:41):
If Lebron goes to another team, it would take such
a hit I think to his legacy. Can you imagine
bo our producer at bo Benson, who is a Laker fan,
If he got traded and then the Lakers go on
to win without him or just get far without him.

Speaker 7 (28:58):
That'd be pretty fun. I just wanted to say, wait,
you said that there's no way Lebron can get traded.
I don't think.

Speaker 5 (29:03):
I don't think he would allow it.

Speaker 10 (29:05):
I just don't think in a world where Luka Doncic
is a Laker you can say that no one can
get traded.

Speaker 4 (29:09):
In listen fair Obviously you're so right about that Nicol
Harrison's fault.

Speaker 5 (29:15):
But I just don't see Lebron saying yes. And doesn't
he have to say yes.

Speaker 3 (29:21):
Well yeah, but I think that he would be the
one that would want the trade, like he would say
like it.

Speaker 4 (29:27):
Would it would take a hit to his legacy if
you went to another team.

Speaker 3 (29:31):
If he went to New York and led them to
the NBA Finals, or was a part of the team
that went to the NBA Finals and right now you
have the Pistons, Calves and Raptors ahead of the the
the Knicks and the standings, so like there would be
an opportunity for him to and maybe the Pistons will
be the OKC of last season and run through the
East and be the team that you can't beat. But

(29:53):
if Lebron is traded, it's because he also wants to
be traded, and so that's why I think that you
could see that option. But so far, so good, at
least one game in because Lebron accepted the role and
accepted his minutes the way that it was. Yeah, yeah,
everybody seemed to put on their best It was on
their best behavior last night. Even Bronni hit a late
three and people were going crazy. But that's what happens

(30:16):
when the Utah Jazz come to town. It's the same
thing that happens when Isaac Lohenkron comes to town. People
are happy, they're laughing, they're smiling, having a good time
in Isaac's here with the latest. What's going on?

Speaker 10 (30:25):
Isaac, I am jazzed up after you all describe me
that way. Yeah, it was as they were also the
opponent in Kobe's sixty point farewell games, so they are
they are America's guests. Apparently, the Cleveland Browns today named
rookie Shadoor Sanders. They're starting quarterback for Sunday's game at
Las Vegas. In a related story, as many of you know,

(30:47):
sanders home was broken into during the last Sunday's game
against the Ravens. Approximately two hundred thousand dollars worth of
property was stolen, but Sanders said the good news was
it was his jewelry.

Speaker 6 (31:01):
I noticed a trending topic that my house got broken into.
But I'm in a mental space now to where you know,
it's not too much that could pase me. And none
of my jury got took anyway.

Speaker 2 (31:10):
So by the way, none of my jury got took me.

Speaker 6 (31:14):
You know, it's just caught slipping. You know, it happens.

Speaker 7 (31:17):
It happens two hundred thousand dollars.

Speaker 10 (31:19):
And by the way, I was keeping track fifteen seconds
that length of comment six eyes.

Speaker 3 (31:28):
I don't want to pile on. I don't want to
pile on. I just it kind of is what it is.

Speaker 10 (31:34):
One other note, by the way, there's more security camera
footage of the robbery was obtained and shared on social
media by all people. Former NFL defensive back Adam Pacman
Jones pac Man Jones the Colombo for the New Millennium
apparently anyway. New York Jets head coach Aaron Glenn announced

(31:56):
that to Rod Taylor will start a quarterback Sunday against
the Baltimore Ravens. The Atlanta Falcons confirmed quarterback Michael Pennix
Junior will need season ending surgery for a partially torn
left acl. Falcons also ruled out receiver Drake London for
Sunday's game against the Saints due to a knee injury,
and NFL media reports at Los Angeles Rams safety Quentin

(32:16):
Lake had elbow surgery yesterday but could return before the playoffs.
Dan and Monse back to you.

Speaker 3 (32:22):
Thank you very much. Isaac. Isaac is going to be
with us in just a few minutes to play a
game as we always do here on the Doug Gottlieb Show.
Hit her up at Monzy Blondows. You can find me
at Dan Byer on Fox. You can find Isaac at
Isaac Lowencron. Coming up next, we will play our game
plus top of the hour. Its middle of the week,
so it's the midway and we have our sights set

(32:43):
on NBA, NFL, Major League Baseball, PGA Tour, NHL Fashion
in Sports. That's at the top of the hour. It's
all coming up here on The Doug Gottlieb Show on
Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (32:57):
Be sure to catch the live edition of The Doug
Gottlieb Show weekdays at three pm Eastern noon Pacific.

Speaker 4 (33:03):
All right, I need this for whenever someone calls me.
This is gonna be my ring tone. Nobody calls me,
so that's why I can use it. I'll only hear
it like once a day.

Speaker 3 (33:12):
She is Bonti Bolanos. I'm Dan byer in for Doug Gottlieb.
I was gonna try to add a verse to that.
You know, Lebron The name of that song I assume
is Lebron. Oh man, I really wanted to. I really
wanted to add another lyric. Maybe after we play a

(33:33):
game with Isaac Loncron. How about that.

Speaker 2 (33:38):
This is game time on The Doug Gottlieb Show.

Speaker 3 (33:43):
Hello Isaac, how are you.

Speaker 10 (33:45):
Just youtubeing that Lebron song? Maybe we can all cover
it later. As our listeners all shout no, no, well, yes,
we do have a game for you.

Speaker 2 (33:55):
Witches for Better or worse.

Speaker 3 (33:59):
Right.

Speaker 10 (34:00):
We'll start off with you guys discussing a pair of
NFL teams that are five and five, and the reason
is one team is the Kansas City Chiefs and the
other team is the Baltimore Ravens. Ravens or Chiefs better
or worse?

Speaker 3 (34:16):
MANSA you want to take this one, you go, Okay,
The Chiefs are better than the Ravens. And the reason
I know that is because the Chiefs beat the Ravens
earlier this season. Just keep it simple, stupid, That's what
I am going to do. I'm going to say that
the Chiefs are better because of their Week four win. Now,

(34:37):
that was the game that Lamar Jackson suffered as hamstring string. However,
I don't think it would have mattered against the Ravens
team that despite Lamar coming back and having the pieces
that they have. I believe that there's something that's just
off about the Ravens. And it's not only that their
defense isn't what it used to be or what it
previously was. I don't know if it's LaVar doesn't have

(35:00):
maybe the explosiveness because of the hamstring injury. Maybe Derreck
Henry isn't the same Dereck Henry. But I trust the
Chiefs more, and I'll use the Week four result in
saying that they're better than the Ravens.

Speaker 5 (35:09):
Yeah, I was gonna say. I think I just trust
the Chiefs more. And it seems like the Ravens defense.

Speaker 4 (35:16):
May be looking a little bit better right than we
saw at the start of the season.

Speaker 5 (35:19):
But I'm not convinced yet, so I'm gonna trust the Chiefs.

Speaker 3 (35:22):
I think there's also this conversation about this the Ravens
in trying to catch the Steelers, that it would be
quite the comeback, but it also would be the fall
of Pittsburgh. I don't know how many people really truly
thought that Baltimore, who was a trendy preseason super Bowl pick,
actually was a super Bowl contender. But if you've actually

(35:44):
watched them, despite now them winning football games, I just
don't think that they're the same Ravens as old.

Speaker 5 (35:49):
Yeah, they don't pass the eye test.

Speaker 10 (35:51):
Let's narrow it down to the NFC West Rams, cruising
in first place, but just behind them better or worse.
Dan's beloved Seattle Seahawks or the San Francisco forty nine ers.

Speaker 5 (36:08):
Oh all right, all right, let me take this one.

Speaker 4 (36:11):
Okay, I'm gonna say that right now, the forty nine
ers are slightly better. Seattle turns the ball over too
much for me, and it doesn't even you they I
don't know what it is, and they can obviously fix that.
But now with brock Party coming back, you actually saw

(36:34):
the forty nine ers and what they can do with
brock Party throwing the ball instead of Mac Jones, who
did a fine job. But this as good as Seattle is,
those turnovers are like ugh, and they're ugly.

Speaker 5 (36:48):
They're ugly. So I'm gonna give an edge right now
to the forty nine ers, But in a few weeks
I could see it flipping. But right now the forty nine.

Speaker 3 (36:56):
Ers, I feel like Isaac back into a corner on
this my previous reasoning of the Chiefs beating the Ravens
because the Niners beat the Seahawks in Seattle in Week one.
I really do think that the Seahawks are a better team,
and if they were to play the Niners in Week twelve,
Seattle would win even by leading to the NFL in

(37:17):
turnovers like they have. But they don't play again until
Week eighteen.

Speaker 5 (37:22):
At that point, who knows who's gonna play.

Speaker 3 (37:24):
And I don't even think the forty nine ers are
that good. But because I was backed into a corner,
I guess I got to stick to my guns.

Speaker 5 (37:29):
With logic, right, keep it simple, keep it simple.

Speaker 3 (37:32):
I got to stick to the result that we saw.
And I know that the Miami Hurricane fans are probably saying,
good job, Dan. There you go, head to head matters,
head to head matters.

Speaker 10 (37:42):
All right, let's turn to some individual NFL players, getting
back to a topic from earlier in the program. I'm
going to ask you to zoom out, when it's all
said and done, who has the better or least worst
NFL career Shador Sanders or Dylan Gabriel.

Speaker 5 (38:01):
Who we're just taking a big guess here.

Speaker 7 (38:04):
So either for better or worse, or for worse or
least worse.

Speaker 2 (38:07):
I guess.

Speaker 3 (38:09):
I think Gabriel's is going to be worse. He's always
going to have the third round pick label to him
when he probably shouldn't have been a third round pick,
and I think that's part of the problem as well.
So I will say Gabriel will have a worse career
than Shoud or.

Speaker 5 (38:24):
I think that's the safe answer. Gabriel. He went to Oregon,
he played.

Speaker 3 (38:29):
She played everywhere, he played, He played everywhere, but his
last season.

Speaker 7 (38:32):
Everybody played everywhere in college.

Speaker 4 (38:34):
Everyone now plays everywhere, But I just don't remember.

Speaker 5 (38:37):
I think the ceiling is higher for Shadur. So that's
why I'm with you. I think Dylan Gabriel, when it's
all been said and done, will have the work, the
worse career, Worseir What am I trying to hear?

Speaker 2 (38:49):
This is?

Speaker 3 (38:50):
And this is the other like tricky portion of it,
like trying to not trying to make Dylan Gabriel the victim,
because I don't think that he has gotten a lot
of a lot of grace is the word of the
day here on Fox Sports Radio. However, the Browns probably
put him in a bad spot by drafting him in
the third round. I miss about a third round pick,
let alone, now having Schador looking over his shoulder.

Speaker 10 (39:13):
All right, our final item, We're going to go to
the always entertaining college football coaching carousel, and this one
is between a guy who just got a new head
coaching job and a guy who is being discussed about
a potential head coaching job.

Speaker 7 (39:31):
Does he go? Does he stay?

Speaker 10 (39:33):
I'm sure private planes are getting tracked as we speak.
So our final item on this edition of four better
or Worse for better or worse Lane Kiffin or James Franklin.

Speaker 3 (39:47):
I don't know how you could have a conversation there's
because I would I would bet that James Franklin's career
record is significantly better than Lane Kiffin. Probably, I would
just guess. However, I don't know anybody that would rather
have James Franklin as their head coach as opposed to

(40:10):
Lane Kiffin right now. And I don't even know if
that's the right answer, that that James Franklin again may
have a better record, and if we can.

Speaker 10 (40:18):
Yeah, I'll tell you right now. We got James Franklin
at Vanderbilt and Penn State career record of one, twenty
eight and sixty and Lennay in college football not in
the NFL one sixteen and fifty three.

Speaker 7 (40:34):
So we got Lane close. We got Lane.

Speaker 10 (40:36):
We got Lane at a six eighty six winning percentage. Franklin,
it's six't eighty one. They are very close.

Speaker 3 (40:41):
Wow, huh? And you know what Alane Kiffin then, is
the answer?

Speaker 2 (40:45):
Late?

Speaker 6 (40:45):
Yeah?

Speaker 5 (40:46):
I think Lane Kifvin is the answer. But why I
agree with you. Why is he the answer?

Speaker 4 (40:50):
Because is it because James Franklin just cannot win the
big games?

Speaker 5 (40:53):
And that's just been in his reputation.

Speaker 3 (40:55):
Lane Kiffin's media savvy. Yes, I think that's a part
of it as well, right, Yes, link KIFVIFN knows how
to play the game, and yeah, I think that's a
part of it.

Speaker 10 (41:03):
Yeah, And that is our game for today.

Speaker 2 (41:09):
This is game time on the Gottlieb Show.

Speaker 3 (41:13):
We will have a Lane Giffen discussion later on Again,
Monty and I are with you for the next three
plus hours on Fox Sports Radio. Hit her up at
Manzy Bolanos. You can find me at dan Byer on Fox.
There's nothing worse than wearing dress shoes, Yes, but you
have to do it. That's next.

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant.
