Speaker 2 (00:23):
Do doo.

Speaker 1 (00:25):
Hope you're having a great day the day after the
NBA Draft, right, but wait, there's more. Uh you know
it's there. There's a lot of interesting parts about last
night's NBA draft, really last night, a lot of interesting parts.

(00:48):
One part is which we discussed yesterday, which is there's
more You're like really like, yeah, well there's a part two?
Why why?

Speaker 2 (01:00):
You know?

Speaker 1 (01:00):
When I was a kid, my dad loved the movie
Weekend at Bernie's. And yes, I know, Weekend at Bernie's
became kind of got recycled because, frankly, in some ways
our previous president, President Biden, it felt a little bit

(01:21):
like Weekend at Bernie's at the time, right where he's
has somebody have him wave. Oh, Joe's very much alive
and relatively well although cognitively there's definitely some decline there.
But if you know the movie, and by the way,
the movie is, they went to go stay at there
was it his uncle Bernie's house, and Bernie dies, but

(01:42):
they're staying at this awesome house, so they're like, ah,
who needs to know? It was a one joke movie.
I will never forget ever. My late father loved the
movie so much. I don't remember when Weekend at Bernie's
Two came out. I want to say it was like

(02:04):
when I was in eighth grade, maybe early in high school,
but on a tournament weekend, on a Saturday night, we
went all as a team to see Weekend at Bernie's Two.
And it worked out about as well as you thought
it would work out for a one joke movie. To
have a second joke like He's still dead, it's not

(02:25):
even funny. Not sure it was that funny the first
time round. It's kind of like the NBA Draft, And
again you're hearing this from a basketball guy, and I
will just tell you, honestly, my dream, like any basket
college basketball player's dream, is to have your name called
the NBA Draft, But the two day thing when there's

(02:46):
no real reason to pay attention today other than you know,
the idea of trades and sort of a free agency bonanza.

Speaker 2 (02:54):
That's it.

Speaker 1 (02:57):
But there is you know, there's there's something to be
said for a life in media, There's something to be
said for a life in business, There's something to be
said for a life in sports. And that's it's a
long life. Don't believe me. Tech Nico Harrison was kind
of an interesting hire, coming straight from Nike to be

(03:19):
the GM of the Dallas Mavericks last year. This time,
he looked like a genius. All the moves he had made,
from drafting Derek Lively to acquiring Daniel gaffer to trading
for Kyrie Irving all seemed to come together. They went
to the NBA Finals, which which was very surprising, even
hiring Jason Kidd. Like Jason Kidd's been a really good

(03:42):
coach with the Mavericks, but his previous head coaching stop,
I believe, was with the Milwaukee Bucks and it wasn't
very well regarded.

Speaker 2 (03:50):
Just wasn't.

Speaker 1 (03:52):
He was a part of the Lakers championship team in
the bubble. But from hiring Jason Kidd to acquiring Gafford,
drafting Lively, trading for Kyrie Irving, extending Kyrie Irving. Everything
seemed to work and they got to the NBA Finals.
Then you fast forward to this year and he made

(04:12):
the decision, Hey, I just I'm done with Luca. I
don't want to have Luca at three hundred plus million
dollars and we move on. He goes against Anthony Davis.
Anthony Davis has oft injured and shocker. Then Anthony Davis
gets hurt at halfway through his first game with the Mavericks,
and then they're burning him in effigy and having protests

(04:33):
and yelling out his name and holding up signs, and
you're like, wow, he went from king of the world
to you got to get rid of him. Then lo
and behold, something interesting happens on the way to him
being ousted because fans are just so turned off. They
get the number one overall pick and they select Cooper Flag.
Here's what Nicola Harrison was asked after the draft. He

(04:55):
thinks the addition of Cooper Flag will quell the backlash
from his fans.

Speaker 3 (04:59):
Niger take backing off that are you hopeful, optimistic Stefy
drafting Crooper? Some of the anger that had been directing
it directed at you personally, will subside.

Speaker 4 (05:10):
That I'm hoping, so you know, I'm assuming so a
little bit.

Speaker 1 (05:13):
Maybe I'm hoping so I'm assuming so one would hope
I don't. I didn't understand the whole backlash previously. Didn't
help that Mark Cuban didn't have his back. It didn't
help that others did not as well. Probably doesn't help
that Luca, although he's done before, seems to be on
a diet the summer and putting up videos to show
he's much slimmer and much more engaged. And why wouldn't

(05:36):
you do that when you're in Dallas? And oh yeah,
by the way, you were set to make, you know,
a supermax contract the likes of which we hadn't seen
before in the plus three hundred million dollar variety. And
you know, if you can't get somebody to get in
shape when they're not making three hundred million dollars, good
luck when they're making three hundred million dollars. But I'm

(05:57):
good again. I disagree with the tray. He knows way
more than I know. And my guess is that the
owners probably were also like, yeah, we just we don't
want to give that kind of money to a guy
that won't stay in shape, and it was a collective decision.
It wasn't one man's decision. And that's why he's still employed.
But it's just a weird space in sports where you're like, oh,

(06:20):
this guy's a genius. No, now he's an idiot. And
now he's just lucky. Now he's just lucky. I'm struggling
to find a reason to watch tonight. Anybody, you know,
I mean, you have.

Speaker 2 (06:41):
You know.

Speaker 1 (06:41):
It's just the weirdest place where in the draft where
you're like, Okay, well I love basketball. I love college basketball,
but it's not necessarily covered by college basketball. People who
really know the college game. They don't do a great
job of explaining some of the trades and some of us.

(07:04):
Maybe that's what round two becomes because so many players
are in fact traded. You don't have you have j
Billis as an analyst and nobody else. And even Jay,
as much as he's been good for a long time,
he did NBA games this year, so he knows more
about the league, but likely laps in terms of depth
of seeing the players. It's a weird place, Jase dou

(07:26):
is there any pitch you could give me for watching
tonight Night two of the NBA Draft.

Speaker 5 (07:30):
Yeah, Lebron James Son is getting drafted right.

Speaker 1 (07:32):
No, No, that would be next year's second round, and
even then that would obviously be a reach.

Speaker 5 (07:38):
Oh those last year, that was last year?

Speaker 1 (07:41):
What you got, Sam?

Speaker 6 (07:43):
Yeah, Caitlin Clark is out tonight. That's the reason to
watch the w or the NBA Draft.

Speaker 1 (07:50):
What happened to Kaitlin Clark? She got hurt or it's
just she's missing shots, so she's taking a little break.

Speaker 7 (07:55):
Groin possibly, I think I want to say one else
to do with the other. You played the game, Doug,
so you can feel free to contradict everything I'm about
to say. Okay, she hasn't been right. She's been compromised
on the court. Something's bugging her. Monty can confirm. I'm
sure that is this is this growing injury what she

(08:15):
missed all that time with or is this a new injury,
But whatever it is, it's made her compromise on the court,
which has made her games less less watchable, less enjoyable.

Speaker 6 (08:26):
I think she started out with the quad injury and
then right now it's being reported as groin. And yeah,
she's been I don't know if the injury then it
must be affecting her shot because it's been really bad.

Speaker 1 (08:38):
That NBA draft was so not interesting to so many
people on so many levels last night, and I was
trying to figure it out, like what what is it?
And obviously a bunch of it is they're they're one
and dones, you know, And yeah, I love that kan
Kinneppele went went Forth. I think he's tremendous. I think
it's really interesting that where the NBA is in you've

(09:02):
got to be able to guard multiple positions. You gotta
be able to shoot the basketball. You have to have
a high basketball like you He's got those things, and
you know, because he's not a high flyer. Again, look
at the NBA playoffs and smart and skilled wins. I mean,
Shake Gildes Alexander is not the greatest athlete in the world.
He's just really smart and really skilled, and they kind

(09:24):
of built the system around that skill set. But I
kind of figured out just an additional reason, or maybe
it's a main reason. I mean, I do I think
that not most people don't watch college basketball in the
regular season unlike they used to. Too many games on
NBA games around all the time. It's just it's hard

(09:47):
to follow guys transfer all the times. You don't know
who's where or what what's going on. The leagues have changed,
rivalries have diminished, all of those things have heart. Now
you still watch the NCAA tournament, so you have most
people have a defined opinion people that played in the
NCAA tournament. If you didn't, you know, the two kids
from Rutgers, nobody's seen play. But I think the other

(10:08):
part too, it is the teams that we traditionally care
about over the last decade. Lakers, Warriors, Clippers, Nicks, who
else didn't even have a pick last night? You know,
they literally not involved in did the Nuggets. I don't

(10:29):
think had a draft pick. So it's like it's not
just that you don't know the players, you don't even
care about the teams that you're going to. It was
a weird night last night where an event that I've
covered for, you know, twelve years in person, just I struggled.

Speaker 2 (10:47):
To get through.

Speaker 1 (10:48):
And then they're like, oh, yeah, by the way, if
you like tonight, and you're like, eh, tomorrow night is
gonna be worse but the same, but the same. But
I just if I tried to nail down the two
biggest reasons is first is nobody knows who these guys
are because they're one and gone outside of Cooper Flag.

(11:09):
And the next is that the teams that are involved.
And then I think the last part is most of
them are so young, they're not gonna help you a
ton of year one anyway. It's not like the NFL draft,
where if you draft a quarterback, you know you're going
to start that quarterback, and if you're trying to find
kind of a loaded roster with them, or is he
going to struggle in his first year. For forty years,

(11:29):
Tyrek has been helping customers find the right tires for how,
what and where they drive, ship fast and free back

Speaker 1 (12:11):
App Stuck gott Leap Show Fox Sports Radio. I love
this story and I'll explain why in one second. So
full disclosure. Last night, it's a bit of a busy
day for your boy, right. I had an official visit

(12:33):
on campus at a basketball practice we had, you know
through the radio show. Then had a quick meal with
my player who's on a visit, and then I had
a Coaches Versus Cancer dinner at lambeau Field, and then
I got a chance to watch the NBA Draft and

(12:56):
at the Coaches Versus Cancer dinner. Like remember its Green Bay, Wisconsin,
and so it's kind of a sort of everybody who's
in town and doctor Shamrock, who's the packers ankle and
foot physician, and I got caught in a deep conversation
and you would not believe how many people listen to

(13:17):
our show and said stop by him, like yeah, load
top sneakers got leave. Load top sneakers is the reason
that guys are tearing their achilles tendon. Now, the doctor
I was speaking to said nothing about load top sneakers.
He was talking about a bunch of other kind of factors.
But we did basically a show Monday on Achilles injuries

(13:41):
and why they're occurring. Talked about it yesterday. I think
the whole world is talking about this because it does
feel like there's a rash of them. Some have I
think misidentified it as a basketball problem because we've brought
up how many. I'm like, three NFL quarterbacks Deshaun Watson,
Kirk Cousins, Aaron Rodgers all to their achilles ten in

(14:02):
the last year and a half two years, and there's
other NFL players who have done the same, So it's
not just a basketball thing. He ears Adam Silver, the
commissioner of the NBA, when he was asked about the
number of Achilles injuries.

Speaker 10 (14:19):
We are looking at it, and in fact, we had
already convened a panel of experts before Tyree's most recent
achilles rupture.

Speaker 4 (14:28):
So we had seven this year. We had zero last year.

Speaker 10 (14:32):
Under the exact same circumstances, and the most we've ever
had in a season is for NFL has had a
rational of Achilles issues as well, So the purpose of
convening those experts is to try to figure out what's
going on. You know, it's interesting when we look back
at the last ten years, the majority of the Achilles
injuries have happened before the All Star break, so it's
not clear it's the number of games. And as you know,

(14:55):
modern NBA players, even when they're not playing games, sometimes
in the summer, they're working harder than than they are
during the season when they're playing three games a week.

Speaker 4 (15:03):
They're often playing every day.

Speaker 10 (15:04):
Some experts think it may have more to do with
youth basketball, may have as much to do with what
they do from ten to nineteen.

Speaker 4 (15:12):
Increasingly they're single sport athletes.

Speaker 10 (15:14):
These guys train also harder than when I talk to
veteran players now. I was talking to Andrea Wodala the
other day, the head of the players Association. He's saying
he's counseling a lot of these players that they need
more rest on their body in the off season. I mean,
you've got guys working at three times a day. So
I'm hopeful that by looking at more data, by looking
at patterns. You know, this is one area where AI

(15:37):
people are talking about how that's going to transform so
many areas of the ability with AI to ingest all
video that a player of every game of players played
in to see if you can detect there's some patterns
just like that we didn't realize that leads to an Achilles' injury.
Whether it's associated with calf injuries, we really don't know.
But look, we're taking it very seriously.

Speaker 1 (15:56):
It's I actually think this is a super interesting discussion.
I love the idea that hey, we're even using AI,
you know, and I'll tell you, like in college basketball,
we're starting to use AI for things that we normally
did as humans, and they're just time consuming. You know,
there's some coaches that have begun using and we're going

(16:18):
to take a look at using AI for scouting reports.
You know, why sit there and grind and grind ground.
You're still going to do the work and watch the film.
But the computer can process and spit it out so
much quicker than we're even possible, and it cuts out
any feelings or emotions from it. But I love what

(16:39):
the commission said where he's like football's had a rash
of them. People make this out to be a basketball thing.
I also think that one thing he may be missing on,
and this idea of guys working out three times a
day is not really accurate. Guys don't work out three
times a day, and they do take some time off.
But the thing is they're now working out, whereas in
previous years they used to play. So is it the

(17:01):
working out that doesn't develop all those playing muscles? I
don't know. I don't know. I think it's how we're
building bodies and that we're we're skipping steps and building
big buscles and not worry about the small ones and
Lickhaman's intendance. You see, you're just showing off, Monci Christiano Ronaldo,
You're just just showing off. It's not fair. It's just

(17:24):
it's very like. I mean, that sounds as good looking
as he is. That's what it does, right, that really did.

Speaker 5 (17:32):
That's a good way.

Speaker 6 (17:32):
That's a good way to put it. Made his name
sound as good looking as he is.

Speaker 11 (17:37):
Sounded sexy, right, Yeah he is? He is sexy?

Speaker 1 (17:41):
Yeah, Jayceter, you want to say it? No, Ja said,
I don't think it's appropriate for me to say it,
but you could say, you get away with these things.

Speaker 6 (17:51):
You should ask Mark Medina, who's on deck?

Speaker 2 (17:53):
No, hold on, I'll ask Mark Medina.

Speaker 5 (17:55):
A question is the question? Is Rinaldo a good looking guy?

Speaker 1 (17:58):
No no no no no no no.

Speaker 7 (18:00):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (18:01):
What I said was the way she says Christiano Ronaldo
say it again, Mondo, Okay, it sounds as good looking
as he is. It should be followed up with the
no no pause, no no pause, no homo, well no

(18:21):
cap or yes that's that's no cap. You can say
no cap, but I I can say no cap.

Speaker 2 (18:25):
You can say pause. No, it doesn't mean the same thing.
He the music. Let's get to Mark Medina, come.

Speaker 6 (18:36):
On, settle this on a podcast another time.

Speaker 1 (18:40):
Nothing like a good Monsey laugh and a good MONSI
uh rolling the tongue on Christiano Ronaldo on a Thursday.
It's not got leap show on Fox Sports Radio. You
know that music that means it's the funky coll Mark Medina,
our longtime NBA UH insider, Fox Sports trader and NBA writer.
Why are they doing a second day? Why? Why?

Speaker 9 (19:05):
Doug you've read my thought bubble. First off, I can't
emulate MONTI lovely accident. Cristiano Ronaldo terrible, but I'll call
you coach as well. To your question about why the
second draft and day of the draft, I guess there's
just not a lot of programming on you know, the
Mothership during the summer. But take any baseball game and

(19:28):
it's better than this. I mean, I can get to
a very small degree. Last year, they show up because
of all the intrigue with Brownie James, for better and
for worse. But here there's no intrigue at all. Bari
and Gianna Tamskoupo getting traded and I guess you can't
roll that out. But as far as the draft, there
is absolutely nothing of interest. So I'm with you.

Speaker 1 (19:49):
Yeah, it's it's yeah, that's What does this do for
Nico Harrison.

Speaker 9 (19:57):
Well, I think it gives him a mulligan, a jail
out of card, because I don't think anyone, even him
would have not drafted Cooper flag he's the best in
the draft. I think the intriguing thing about Cooper is
that you know one exec and several think the same thing,
like multi year All Star right away, multi year All
NBA player, And it's not because he has a defined

(20:19):
skill set. It's just that he's good at everything, and
he also has a winning mentality and so with that,
there's not a lot of question marks with him. So
this redeems himself a little bit.

Speaker 10 (20:30):
But we'll see.

Speaker 9 (20:31):
I mean We have to keep in mind Kyrie Irving,
He's probably out for least half the season. His acl
Anthony Davis has turned a corner with his injury history,
but you never know with that. But you know, unlike
other teams that have the number one pick, and there's
a reason why it was so slim that Dallas got it.
They are a rebuilding team. There is a pathway for
them to be a playoff team, and when you add

(20:52):
the best player in college basketball, that's a pretty good recipe.

Speaker 1 (20:55):
Okay, Oklahoma City wins the championship, not a ton of
see they can have everybody under contract, but they do
have the ability to extend Chet and some of the
others this off season. Do you think they max out
Chet home Grin.

Speaker 9 (21:13):
I think that they do. I think the same thing
with Jalen Williams because I think it's one of these
things where even though the thunder are very you know,
savvy with their resources, small market, and Sam Presty is
always about hoarding. He knows that their window right now
is about two years to not necessarily be the favorite

(21:35):
to win the championship, but at least have a realistic
pathway to repeat. So I think that they really. I
think that they do do the extensions because of that.
I think the other thing we have to keep in mind, Doug,
is that extensions don't mean much in today's NBA. You know,
even players that aren't happy with the situation still sign it,
and then they'll demand a trade. Obviously they don't want

(21:57):
to go anywhere, But organizations operate the same way. They'll
do the extensions and deal with ramifications later. And that's
the same thing with what you're happening, with what you're seeing.
Excuse me. With the Boston Celtics, they didn't hesitate doing extensions,
but now that the bill is coming, that's when they're
making tough decisions with trading Drew Holiday, trading chrisos porzingis

(22:20):
So to your question with the Thunder, I think that
they do sign those extensions once you're ready.

Speaker 1 (22:26):
Okay, let's talk about that. Jannis. You said, you know,
unless Yiannis gets traded, what's it likely that he does
get traded.

Speaker 9 (22:33):
Yeah, Well, I've been on record. I'm still adamant here.
I think he gets traded this offseason. I think I'll
move the goalpost here a little bit though, because I
thought it was going to be Draft day. I think
it's now going to be free agency right now. The
stance from the Honest and the Bucks as they're not
going anywhere. You know, they've had all this success, the
Honest a franchise player. The Eastern Conference landscape is really

(22:55):
wide open, and that was even before Tyree Salburn injured
his achilles, So you know, I think that they can
say it with the straight face that you know what
if they run it back, it's a flawed roster, especially
with Damian Lillard having his own achilles injury. But you know,
there's diminished competition these but I think at some point
early free agency there's gonna be a lot of activity

(23:16):
and I think both parties will concluding what it's better
off making a deal. Here's the challenging part though, Doug,
I don't know where he adds up because I don't
think Santonio is gonna, you know, get rid of their
young core. Houston already made their big move with Kevin Durant,
but I do think he's going somewhere that's not with
the Bucks.

Speaker 1 (23:38):
Okay, that's that's a bit of a prediction. Who else
gets moved? We already seen KD get moved you're talking
about Giannis, who's the next big name.

Speaker 9 (23:47):
Yeah, it's a good question. I don't think that there's
any one of consequence that gets moved. I mean, Kadi
and Giannis are the big names. I don't think Austin
Reeves gets moved from the Lakers, even though he did
his extension. Dan, what your report of that today. I
think the expectation is, even though the Lakers are going
to try to find a center, it's going to be

(24:08):
without dealing Austin Reeves, partly because you know they're not
viewing him as untouchable, but they don't think any move
with him will get them to that next level. And
also I think they're more likely to trade any combination
of early action Mora and Dori and Finney Smith. But
the market there, you're looking at Claxton, Miles, Turner, in trades,

(24:30):
free agency, Brook Lopez. There's a lot of activity that's
going to happen. But I don't mistake activity for game
changing type moves. I think besides Gannest, there's a lot
of on the margins type moves that we're going to see.

Speaker 1 (24:45):
Stuck out Leaves show here on Fox Sports Radio, Mark
Medina or Fox Sports Radio NBA Insider joining us. The
New York Nates still don't have a coach. Now they're
talking about James Brago like this. This is getting kind
of silly here right where you go from a guy
who granted hadn't won deep into the playoffs two guys

(25:07):
who haven't been in the playoffs at all. Where does
this end?

Speaker 9 (25:11):
Yeah, where I think it ends. I think Mike Brown's
going to get the job. You know, the early intel
I get as he's the favorite because of his previous
head coaching experience. They liked the interview. He's done it twice.
He's known as the defensive oriented coach, but you know,
during his time in Golden State time with Sacramento, he's
he's evolved offensively. Now I think what's happening with the

(25:33):
Knicks is they went through two stages. One they try
to get all permission from the accomplished coaches to interview,
and that unsurprisingly went nowhere. So now I think it's
about aside from Mike Brown and Taylor Jenkins talking to
promising assistant coaches. But I think the promising assistant coaches
they're great for Mike Brown's staff. So you know, I've

(25:53):
been told to expect that the Knicks are still going
to take their time with the search, but the expectation
is ultimately Mike Brown will be the next head coach.

Speaker 1 (26:03):
Wow, what the Lakers gonna do.

Speaker 9 (26:08):
As far as just who they get with the center spot? Yeah?

Speaker 10 (26:11):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (26:12):
Or do they or do they make a bigger move
out there?

Speaker 9 (26:16):
Yeah? I don't think they're making I don't think they're
making bigger moves. It's going to be all about Dinners.
But again, I don't think Austin Reeves going to get
dealt and I don't think that they're going to strip
away so much roster depth. It's not like they're roster
depths incredible. I mean, they lost the Minnesota the first round,
but I think that they're going to be aggressive with

(26:36):
being what they can get with Dori and Vinni Smith
gave Vincent really action more in trades. But again we're
looking at who are the candidates, Miles Turner, Nick Laxon.
They're good players, but they're not great. Steven Adams is
off the board because he's coming back with Houston. I
think Brook Lopez will be available with the Bucks because
the Bucks are trying to trim a roster. He's good.

(26:57):
But again, these moves are gonna up created the team.
It's just not major, you know.

Speaker 1 (27:02):
And I and they, I just I can't see them
winning with you know, their three best offensive players all
being non defenders. I just I don't. That's not a
recipe for success. And if you watch you know what
what why the thunder win? They were the best defensive
team in the NBA, best defensive team in the NBA.
What we heard from Adam Silver about the Achilles injuries,

(27:23):
you said, Hey, we're we're trying to figure it out
where we run AI. You know, some of the injuries
have happened early, so we don't think it's it's over use.
Uh why are you laughing about AI?

Speaker 9 (27:34):
I'm just laughing on I love how Like that's like
the knee jerk solution to everything in today's world. Let's
let's depend on AI for it.

Speaker 1 (27:41):
I mean, ask how, Ask how nine thousand and see
if it works. Okay, So what are people in the
league saying.

Speaker 9 (27:48):
Yeah, good question, Doug. I talked with some doctors about
this issue, like four of them, you know, outside opinion. Now,
I will caution it wasn't universal opinions, but the main
theme I got is that of all the variables, there
seems to be more of a consensus that it has
more to do with two things. The way the pace

(28:08):
of the game is with you know, just so much athleticism,
so much twisting, so much torque. And then the other
thing is the way players are training the off season,
where not enough weightlifting, a lot of skill development. I mean,
it's good for skill development, but I think it's more
just working smarter, not harder. I think what the other

(28:29):
thing that's interesting, Doug, is there there were a few
doctors that did propose, oh yeah, scale the season back,
reduce games, but most of the doctors I talked to
actually dismissed the whole idea that load mansional was solve
it because a previous eras gone through eighty two game
seasons just fine, And they said, you know this actually
helps you know when you're having to play, you know,

(28:51):
on night to night basis that helps with your rhythm.
It's the whole you know, keeping the classic car and
the garage example, if if it's part two long, all
of a sudden the edgend. So I think the example
more is that you're using the car that's going one
hundred miles an hour, but having to stop at every
single streetlight so they're there. I think these doctors they're

(29:12):
very well aware. They can't exactly like change the game wholeheartedly.
The game is what it is. But if there's tweaks
to reduce the amount of pace and the amount of
twisting that the players are doing, that that could at
least mitigate some of these injuries.

Speaker 1 (29:27):

Speaker 1 (30:24):
What do you got there? Mont?

Speaker 11 (30:28):
Well, it is Thursday, so we are playing.

Speaker 8 (30:33):
I feel a draft.

Speaker 12 (30:35):
Yeah, that's right, I feel a draft. Give it up
to Jason because I like this one for today. So
with the news of Kaitlin Clark missing tonight's game with
now a groin injury, we're gonna draft what players today
make us stop to watch them?

Speaker 11 (30:54):
So what players like Kaitlyn Clark? You stop? You gotta
watch what she's doing. What players do that to you?
And we're gonna in this order.

Speaker 12 (31:00):
Coach, You're gonna go first, then Sam, then me Jason,
and we'll sneak back around, goes Jason Monsey, Sam ends
back with you, Coach, and you're kicking us off. Let's
go what player right now? Current player? Current player, by
the way, makes you.

Speaker 1 (31:18):
Stop to watch in any sport?

Speaker 11 (31:21):
Yeah, we'll say any sport.

Speaker 6 (31:25):
Could even be the javelin Doug, who someone throwing the javelin?
I don't know the best of the javelin throwers out there.
Whatever you want, Pat.

Speaker 12 (31:38):
Mahomes, Yeah, yeah, that's an easy that's a good one.
Yeah all right, Sam, who you got.

Speaker 11 (31:44):
In a number dose.

Speaker 6 (31:46):
I gotta take I mean, I gotta take Kaitlyn Clark.

Speaker 11 (31:49):
Right, Okay, I guess does she count? Are we letting
him take me?

Speaker 2 (31:52):
Yeah?

Speaker 6 (31:52):
She's she's just hurt. But when she's back, I know
she's okay. She's just try to take another one.

Speaker 11 (31:57):
No, fine, we'll give you Kaitlyn Clark.

Speaker 6 (31:59):
I'll take care.

Speaker 11 (32:00):
Fine, fine, fine, all right, I'm up next.

Speaker 12 (32:02):
Well, then I'm gonna take show Tony in with number
three here.

Speaker 11 (32:10):
Coach show, Hey, Tony, that's right right, back to back picks.

Speaker 7 (32:17):
I'm gonna throw you this one because it's true. Uh,
baseball is my sport. Every time Bryce Harper comes up, nice,
I stop that one and watch he's still electric and magnetic. Yeah,
another guy, and this is gonna this is gonna piss
off half of our audience. Sorry, sorry to trigger you,
but Aaron Rodgers I still yeah, anytime he's behind center,

(32:43):
something fun can happen, and I root for him to succeed. Nowadays,
I'm gonna stop what I'm doing to watch Aaron Rodgers. Sorry, trigger,
I don't blame you.

Speaker 11 (32:52):
I don't blame you.

Speaker 12 (32:53):
There's like a lot like I've written down several names
of people I stop to watch. If they're like you said,
if Bryce Harper is going to Jack, I understand that.

Speaker 11 (33:00):
But I'm gonna take I'll.

Speaker 12 (33:03):
Take Steph Curry. Here, I'll take Steph Curry. Is Steph
Curry is playing, I'm I'm tuning in. Oh yeah, it
doesn't matter. I'm tuning in to see what he does.

Speaker 7 (33:12):
I think Steph Curry now has gained the moniker the
male Caitlin Clark.

Speaker 11 (33:19):
Right, But isn't Kaitlyn Clark the female stuff?

Speaker 6 (33:22):
Now it's the other way.

Speaker 11 (33:25):
That's funny. That's funny, male Kaitlyn Clark. That's funny.

Speaker 12 (33:29):
All right, Sam, since you can't pick Kaitlyn Clark, make
it a good one because we gave you an easy
one to take Caitlin in that one when she was
in the literally the opening description.

Speaker 11 (33:38):
Of this game.

Speaker 6 (33:39):
Yeah, what's my number? Where am I picking?

Speaker 4 (33:41):
Right here?

Speaker 11 (33:42):
You're picking seven?

Speaker 5 (33:43):
All right?

Speaker 6 (33:43):
With the seventh overall pick, I'm drafting Saquon Barkley one.

Speaker 1 (33:50):
That was a Sam, Yeah, some of your best work.

Speaker 6 (33:53):
Thank you. I just tried to think of the guy
who rushed for two thousand yards and had like a
whole highlight reel of long touchdown runs stop and watch him.

Speaker 11 (34:01):
Sure, sure, no, that was a good one. All right,
Sure you've made up for your easy Kaitlyn Clark.

Speaker 6 (34:07):
Great draft picks right there.

Speaker 11 (34:08):
Yes, I know we got them.

Speaker 1 (34:10):
Yes, all right, you're literally tooting your own horn seriously.

Speaker 11 (34:14):
When we said Kaitlyn Clark in the description.

Speaker 12 (34:16):
So that's why, all right, coach, wrap us up eighth
overall pick.

Speaker 5 (34:22):
I actually think we could do a third round. I've
got a lot of names.

Speaker 2 (34:25):
So many.

Speaker 12 (34:28):
Okay, so Doug, you got coach, you got back to
back picks here, Then let's do it.

Speaker 1 (34:32):
Should I drove Scotti Scheffler. Yeah, I'm gonna do Scotti Schffler. One.
Dan's not here.

Speaker 11 (34:39):
You know he would.

Speaker 5 (34:42):
It's a good one.

Speaker 1 (34:44):
Yeah, Scotty Scheffler.

Speaker 11 (34:46):
And I gotta do another one, one more, one more.

Speaker 5 (34:49):
Oh m.

Speaker 1 (34:53):
Hmmm, let's see her. Hold on, hold on, hold on, hold.

Speaker 5 (34:59):
On, hold hold on, hold on, hold on.

Speaker 2 (35:05):
I got one, hold on, hold on.

Speaker 1 (35:08):
It's an interesting one. Zion Williamson.

Speaker 11 (35:10):
Wow, okay, all right, he's still.

Speaker 1 (35:13):
Just just no, just because I'm like kinda he's still
when he plays puts up numbers and still in my mind,
he's that freak of nature. Some of it is. The
off the court is kind of kind of sad, right,
like too much, too soon, and you know he's kind
of gone astray. So I'm gonna go I'm gonna go

(35:33):
Zion Williamson.

Speaker 11 (35:34):
All right, all right, it goes back to you, Sam
oh Man.

Speaker 6 (35:39):
I'm going to take I'm gonna take Justin Jefferson, okay,
because he has the pizzazz, the pah, the trash.

Speaker 1 (35:48):
Yeah, for sure you didn't say Tyreek Hill. That was interesting.

Speaker 6 (35:51):
I actually dang regret you should have taken Tyreeks.

Speaker 11 (35:57):
All right, goes back to me.

Speaker 6 (35:58):
He's still available.

Speaker 11 (36:00):
Yeah, No, I think I'm gonna take Trek Scooble if
he's on the mound. I'm gonna watch that Tigers game.
He is some nasty stuff, and so I'm gonna take
Trek Scooble here. But we wrap it up with you, producer, Jason.

Speaker 7 (36:16):
I'm gonna say Angel Reese. And because I it's for
all the wrong reasons, I just like I like the
me bounce. I like to see if if that one
time she's going to injure someone badly, if not kill
them with one of her shots. Hits so hard off
the rim that it hurts somebody, and then I like
to run to TikTok and watch those guys make fun

(36:38):
of I.

Speaker 1 (36:38):
Really, I actually thoroughly enjoy that. That's a really good pick.

Speaker 11 (36:42):
That is a good pick.

Speaker 12 (36:44):
That was good guys, three rounds, And honestly know there's
others that I like.

Speaker 11 (36:48):
Wrote like nobody said Aaron Judge and that's a that's another.

Speaker 7 (36:51):
Good one, Crazy nicolea jokicch.

Speaker 5 (36:58):
Yeah, Carlos Elves.

Speaker 11 (37:00):
Al Chaz, Yeah, that's a good one.

Speaker 1 (37:03):
Escape from alcohol, escape from Alcaraz, good work.

Speaker 8 (37:07):
Game. This is game time on the Dug Gottlieb Show.

Speaker 1 (37:13):
