feel like we did this segment before because we just
did the best walkoffs we'd ever seen. Obviously, I want

(00:48):
to get to that. Also, want to talk a little
about last night's Falcons bucks. We'll do that in a second. Reminder,
Rapid Radios or Instant Push to Talk walkie talkies offering
Nation lt covers no scre a monthly. Fe's business owners

(01:08):
I know you have a bunch of things you want
to get into on last night's football game, and I
respect that. I do want to hear from Jason Stewart
because he has forever picked apart the NFL and the
play of the NFL, more specifically the play of the
offensive side of the ball in the NFL. Then last
night we see a shootout. Terrible tackling. I'm not gonna
I'm not going to deny that, but we do see

(01:28):
a shootout in the NFL. Is it possible that your
ZORUPA claim was based upon the first four weeks, which
now we're kind of out of that quarter pole a
little bit, and you know those first four weeks the Patriots,
you use those as extended preseason.

Speaker 2 (01:46):
I think I think the question is do I still
think we're in zeropa? And do I still think the
product is weak? I think there are exceptions to the
rule on a weekly basis. My my feeling all along,
I'm just I'm just going to clarify my opinion is
that the overall product in general of the NFL is
down it's somewhat unwatchable at times. I have to watch

(02:10):
it because of work, but if I didn't, I would
choose not to. The only reason people tune in is
because they have fantasy interest and betting interest, or if
you're interested in one of the two teams.

Speaker 1 (02:20):
And my.

Speaker 2 (02:22):
Theory here about Zuropa has nothing to do with offense
or defense, has to do with if you're sitting there,
does it pass the eye test. It's like if you
watch a movie and it just doesn't it's underwhelming. Maybe
you can't put your finger on what makes it that way.
It just leaves you underwhelmed. And that's how I feel
at the end of most NFL games. So last night,

(02:45):
I guess maybe an exception to the rule, but the
defense was dreadful. I mean, the Bucks couldn't stop anybody
at the end. In the first half, nobody was stopping anybody.
So I don't know what to make of last night.
The ending was really special, and I guess that's what
the NFL could tell you buy your thoughts.

Speaker 3 (03:04):
It was a crazy game, and I just it's again.
I said this on the I Want Your Flex podcast
and I'll say it here. It's a reason number nine million,
two hundred thousand and forty three why you shouldn't bet
on the National Football League because you just don't know
what's going to happen. And there are times when you
think that your bet is cashed in and it isn't.

(03:27):
And there were various points with three minutes or less
to go in that game where if you were on
the side of the Buccaneers, so I believe were about
a one point underdog heading into the game, that you
felt that your bet was going to cash in, and
then in the end Falcons end up covering because of
overtime and because of everything that happened with it. I

(03:49):
am in a picks thing. I did have the Buccaneers.
I didn't put a lot of weight on them in
the weighted pool, but it did make me realize a
lot of the things that were going on in the
final three minutes absolutely insane.

Speaker 1 (04:01):
Yeah, listen, I mean my pick obviously yesterday was I
thought Atlanta would cover. I didn't think they would win,
and I had the under which I was completely off on.
But it was It's like the old John Wooden expression,
never was it never was it something activity for achievement,

(04:22):
never mistaken, activity for achievement right, and so you could
use that in sports to say, never mistaken a close
game for a good game. I thought it was. There
was actually some spectacular to play offensively. I did think
the defense was bad. I'll also point out Jason that
while Tampa's defense wasn't good in the first half, the
tackling I think at the end of the game is

(04:42):
that's fatigue. That's what the teak looks like. You can't
do things you normally can't do. I thought they got tired.
Part of the reason they got tired was they weren't
good on the games around the field. Both the teams
are on the field. Defense were on the field a
lot and running around chasing dudes a lot. But I
did think it was a fun, fun game, fun game.

Speaker 3 (04:58):
And part of the reason why the Bucks were tired
was because they were just on the field prior to
the coin toss of overtime, sure where they were a
bit gassed and allowing the Falcons to drive down the
field and kick the game tying field goal.

Speaker 4 (05:10):
And there's even more to the point.

Speaker 3 (05:11):
Falcons were favored by a point and a half last night,
so the Falcons were up and let me just if
I can just have two minutes to break this down.
With a first and ten at the Atlanta thirty two
yard line, the Buccaneers are up thirty to twenty seven.
That's when Bucky Irving ends up fumbling and Atlanta recovers
and you're saying, oh, no, woe is me, what's going

(05:32):
on with the rookie. Well, then the Buccaneers defense steps
up gets the sack of Kirk Cousins, and now the
Falcons have a decision to make fourth and fifteen from
their own twenty down three. But they have all three timeouts,
a minute fifty two to go, and they decide to
go for it, which actually thought that they should, because

(05:53):
if the Falcons get the Buccaneers get a first down,
who cares, they'll just run out the clock.

Speaker 4 (05:58):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (05:58):
Absolutely, they end up going for it. Levante David intercepts
the ball on fourth down. Sure, why why? I don't know, Yeah,
that's the question. I don't know, because at that point
it's fourth and fifteen. But you also think we'll all
pick it off because the game's over. Well, that cost
them seven yards of field position. In that instance, if

(06:21):
you would have just knocked the pass down, it would
have been first and ten at the twenty yard line,
Atlanta would have three timeouts, very difficult to get out
of field goal range. But somehow the Buccaneers found themselves
getting out of field goal range because of a holding
penalty that backed them up all the way to the
forty three yard line, and they didn't want to try
a long field goal only up by three refs missed

(06:42):
a face mask call on a run by Bucky Irving
on that holding play that completely went against Tampa, and
so the thought process of Atlanta with their three timeouts
was played correctly then because of what Levante David didn't do,
and then of the holding penalty that the Felllkins or
the Buccaneers ended up getting long story short fourth and

(07:04):
twenty fourth from the forty two Bucks punted back to
Atlanta that allows them to drive down and.

Speaker 4 (07:07):
Get the field goal.

Speaker 3 (07:08):
But there were about four opportunities that the Buccaneers didn't
get a break on or messed up in that last
three minutes that allowed Atlanta to get new.

Speaker 1 (07:17):
Life stug Doug Gottlieb show here on Fox Sports Radio.
And then you have baseball, which a series of things
have to had to go wrong for Atlanta to come
back and win that game. And though there were a
series of things that went wrong for the Brewers, obviously
it was basically three things that kind of went wrong.

(07:39):
I do think that baseball is unique and different in
that I mean, literally, one pitch changes the game. Now,
what's crazy about it is, you know Devin Williams, who,
by the way, I don't know if we have Devin
Williams sound, but you want to talk about a guy
getting it in terms of accountability, like he was amazing.
You know, so many times we see athletes and they

(08:00):
make excuses, they don't want to talk to the media,
or they're very like, they're very combative towards me. I mean,
it just has to be devastating towards it towards a
guy that here's a here's here's a guy who's had
a great season, right, and he ends up giving up
a home run which dramatically changes the course of Brewer's history.
And maybe if I Met's history. Now it should be

(08:22):
pointed out that, as I told everyone I know, is
anytime somebody gives up either a rally or a home
run that changes the game in the ninth inning, it
all feels like it starts the same I was, Sam.
Do you know what? It usually starts with no walking
the first header? Like, I would love to see somebody

(08:42):
needs that. One of us needs to call Elias. I
don't have the number for all, not a kid named Elias,
Elias Sports Bureau and find out how many of these
come from behind ninth inning home runs or walk offs
were preceded by walking the first batter. I mean by it,
how many times have we seen this? I mean, look
even the who walked that. Dave Roberts end up pinch

(09:03):
running for with the Red Sox, which, of course, the
Yankees were up three games none, and Game four was
changed by Dave robert steeling second base and then then
a single knocks him in and it forever changed the
course of the Red Sox history as they were. You know,
they had the Curse of the Bambino before that. The
walk of the first hitter almost always means something bad's

(09:26):
gonna happen, right. It's like the opening scene of a
horror movie. You're just trying to find out who's gonna die.
You're like, huh, who's gonna die in this group? Okay,
the biggest star in the movie is not going to die.
Everybody else probably very much in danger. I think the
exact same thing when I watch Major League Baseball's playoffs,
and I was like, ninth inning. You know, we can

(09:46):
really start eighth inning, but ninth inning the rally always
starts with the with the walk of the of the
first hitter, always, or at least it feels that way.
Feels that way. Did you have doubt, Buyer when you're
watching and you see Devin Williams, I mean, was it
especially sharp? I don't know if he was overthrowing or
if he was tired. Did you think, O, boy, this

(10:07):
is not going to go good.

Speaker 3 (10:08):
Well, I think that every Brewer fan probably remembers back
to twenty nineteen when Josh Hater came in against the Nationals.
That was an eighth inning situation and they ended up
giving up three runs in the eighth inning and losing
that game, allowing Washington to then go on their run
to ultimately win the World Series. So that's nothing that's

(10:29):
nothing new to Milwaukee. I don't know how you could
have asked for a better situation, though, being you got
your back to back home runs in the in the
seventh inning, so then you're six out of way at
that point. Wasn't like it was a one nothing game.
You have a little bit of a cushion with the
two nothing game, so I didn't. I wasn't counting the
chickens before they were hatched. But I think that there

(10:50):
may have been some trepidation from the past. But two
to zero with your closer, who's been, you know, pretty
darn good all year, Yeah, I think you're fine with that.

Speaker 1 (11:00):
Here's Devin Williams, who's a closer for the Brewers after
the game. Really good teams here? Where does this one
rank in terms of like just the special feeling you
guys had, and you know, the unity and everything and
what you're able to accomplish this year?

Speaker 5 (11:14):
This is the closest team I would say that I've
played on it.

Speaker 6 (11:18):
You know.

Speaker 5 (11:19):
That's why it makes it that much more disappointing. You know,
everyone did their job except for me job. You know,
I feel like I'll let everyone down here.

Speaker 1 (11:37):
That's hard. That's that's the old man in the arena stuff, right, Like, Hey,
everybody wants that ball to go out and send your
team on in the playoffs. Everyone wants to go to
the NLCS. Everybody And uh yeah, that that's a hard one.
Everybody did their job except for me. There is no

(11:59):
more acountable statement than that. And I didn't think he
said it for sympathy. I said it be I think
he said it because it feels like it's fact, and
it's hard to argue that fact, you know, Like it
wasn't like somebody misplayed a ball. Now he walked the
opening editor. Then he gave up a single first and
third like that was all him and the home run

(12:21):
was him. Nobody else touched it. Now, Now, have you
guys watched the John Boy the Deal where it looks
like he was tipping pitches Jaysetudi, did you go watch
when I I.

Speaker 2 (12:32):
Haven't watched it yet. I didn't even hear about that.
That's crazy.

Speaker 1 (12:36):
Yeah, So it looks like Williams when he's when he's
throwing a fastball, he digs deeper into his gloves so
he holds it a little bit differently. When he's going
to do a change up, his hand is different because
he has to he gets like his I don't know
if he's doing a circle change, he's got more of
his hand over the over the ball. So if you
watch before Alonso goes up to bat. I don't know

(12:58):
if it's a Hantding coach or or the skipper grabs
him and you could see they say like something something
change up. And so he goes up there and he
was not swinging at the change up, which is his
best pitches out pitch. He was swinging at the fastball,
fastball up and away, and he takes it out of
the park. Like that whole thing is just amazing. I
don't know. I know, I'd live in Wisconsin now and

(13:20):
I love the I do love how the Brewers have
treated me personally, and this is an amazing team. And
what people should know is kind of what Dan Byer
pointed out to start the show, which is like, dude,
you lose your manager to the Cubs. That one stings.
They've lost a litany of pitchers to injury. Their best
player is on the show for the rest of the year,
like this was a kind of a miracle season. Obviously,

(13:41):
postseason baseball is so different. And the Mets, you could
point out they underachieved most of the year before making
an incredible run to get into the playoffs. But that's
a three hundred million dollars plus payroll Number one payroll
in Major League Baseball. They should have been there. All
that said, you know, you're a couple of pitches away
from beating the Mets, and uh and Devin Williams said

(14:01):
it right like it was all on him. What a
night in sports? I do. I think of Scott Van Pelt.
He always says sports better than their reality show, and
then he goes and that's what. That's what last night's was.

Speaker 1 (14:28):
Stuck Gollig Show Fox Sports Radio. You know, I miss
Dan Byer. I'm watching a high school football team war.
I'm up right now. I miss helmet stickers. I miss
helmet stickers. I mean it's one of those things square
and I know how States had him forever, you know,
but used to be a much bigger part of the sport.

(14:49):
I mean, you remember playing playing football and oh man,
getting a sticker was I mean, you could outside of
Willie Wonker getting a bar of gold, right, getting a
helmet sticker in front of your boys was an amazing accomplishment,
simply an amazing accomplishment.

Speaker 3 (15:09):
It was such a motivation motivational tool as well, because
you didn't want your helmet to be bear and if
it wasn't as full of stickers, you were going to
try to get more stickers.

Speaker 1 (15:20):
Although you were a guy who didn't play right, but
you could, you could, like if you carried around your helmet, right.
It's like, you know, everybody wears their football jersey to
school on a Friday or whatever. If somebody came to
the game or they came came it a weigh in
and they looked at your helmet like, how come he's
got a minion of stickers and you don't. It's like
he didn't play very much, right, And then you had

(15:43):
stick marks. You know, you had stick marks as well, right,
you had the little smear of the other team's helmet.
Sometimes it's a stuck mark, but you call it a
stick mark, like I hit him, Like, eh, don't you
play offense? I do miss helme stickers, I really do.
Jared Smith fsr's betting analysts going to join us upcoming
in about seven minutes. In the meantime, we'd like to
do this every Friday. This is a call your guy

(16:04):
with one pick. We call it the gambler one pick.
That's all you get, ood Dog Gottlieb Show, Fox Sports Radio.
Let's uh, let's start with our j stew team parlay.
We always get from Jason Stewart.

Speaker 2 (16:24):
Thank you, Doug. I'll take it from here. You need
to run to the beding window. This is the early
window of the college football schedule tonight. Run to the
beding window. You need two teams to make out your
JA STU team parlay. I want you to take TCU.
They're getting I think they're giving sixteen and a half
to Houston and pair TCU to Oregon.

Speaker 4 (16:45):
Oregon.

Speaker 2 (16:45):
You say, yeah, Oregon plays tonight. They're laying twenty three
and a half to Michigan State. And just a memo,
do you Spartan fans, Charles Rogers is not walking through
that door tonight and you're gonna lose by thirty points.
Harlay Oregon to TCU, thank me on Monday.

Speaker 1 (17:04):
Oh, Oregon to TCU, thank me on Monday. Charles Rogers
reference Bird's not walking through that door. Embyer.

Speaker 3 (17:16):
I don't know, is it a downer if I say
rip to Charles Rogers? But just to let everyone know
rip to Charles Rogers. All right, I'm gonna lift us
up here, Jeff Smoker, I am four and oh so
far are my gamblers this year? I told you Saints
Falcons last week would hit the over did we were
riding the Patriots for two weeks earlier in the season.

Speaker 4 (17:37):
I'll tell you another one that I like.

Speaker 3 (17:39):
This week, Arizona goes on the road to face the
San Francisco forty nine Ers. Cardinals were blown out last
week by the Commanders. Another cupcake, so to say, for
the forty nine Ers walking in to Santa Clara. Last
week it was the Patriots. This week it's the Cardinals.
But the Niners have a division divisional showdown against the
Seahawks coming up on Thursday. Perfect trap for San Francisco.

(18:01):
Niners will probably win it in the end, but give
me Arizona plus seven and a half to try to
right their wrongs from their pitiful performance against the Commanders
in Week four.

Speaker 1 (18:11):
Iowa Sam, Iowa Sam.

Speaker 7 (18:14):
Big game, some say the biggest game Iowa at the
Buckeyes on CBS tomorrow afternoon.

Speaker 1 (18:23):
Who says it's the biggest game, It's it's listened.

Speaker 7 (18:25):
Everybody's saying it's the biggest game, biggest game Iowa of
what of the three point thirty east? Can you tell
my little accent here what I'm doing. It's a huge game,
huge game, huge in the huge. I've seen Iowa as
much as a twenty and a half point underdog. I've
seen them as low as a eighteen and a half
point underdog. Either way, it's insulting. I'm taking Iowa with

(18:46):
the points. Taking Iowa with the points.

Speaker 1 (18:51):
Well, what about them? Uh? I'm thinking Oklahoma State three
point favorite against West Virginia. I don't think westreet is
very good. Not that Oklhoen State's great. Uh, but they
lost the two best teams in the Big twelve and
Utah k State back to back, need to win. Last
time they played West Virginia and boom Picking Stadium, they
were all banged up. It was ugly. They lost. You
got that doesn't that has happened?

Speaker 4 (19:13):
When full.

Speaker 1 (19:20):
Run? You never my money when you're sitting time enough accounting?

Speaker 4 (19:33):
All right?

Speaker 1 (19:34):
Hey good, hey, hey, hey hey no thank you? No, no, no,
thank you, thank you. Doug Gottlieb Show, Fox Sports Trader,
Let's welcome in our Fox Sports Radio betting analyst. He
is Jared Smith. Fox Sports Radios count had a kickoff
with Rich Ornberger, Briano and Jared Smith airs each Saturday.
That's Tomorrow nine am New to New Eastern Time, or

(19:54):
uh listen live on Fox Sports Radio's affiliates or the
iHeartRadio presented by Bett m g m of Our Picks.
Our Picks shared, which one do you like the best?

Speaker 8 (20:05):
You know, I I'd like your Oklahoma State pick. I
don't know if there's any bias there at all, but
I tell which one I like the least.

Speaker 4 (20:13):
I think Iowa was in for in for a cough game.

Speaker 8 (20:17):
I think I think the buck guys, although I will
say this, Caleb Johnson's been good and the Ohio state
linebackers have not been as crisp. They lost a lot
in the draft. So that's the path for Iowa. It's
got to be Caleb Johnson. He's got to have one
heck of a game.

Speaker 1 (20:33):
Like there you go, it's a dog gotlib show here
on Fox Sports Radio. Let's uh, let's let's get some
some deep dives Syracuse taking on a team that we
discussed a bunch last week, and then they go out
and win without their quarterback and running back U n
l V your thoughts in the game.

Speaker 4 (20:48):
Yeah, how about Sluka?

Speaker 8 (20:49):
Right?

Speaker 4 (20:49):
Sluka? Who hodj Malik Williams.

Speaker 8 (20:52):
That's that's the new that's the new gunslinger in town
here in the desert. And I think the biggest surprise
in that game was how lusive of a runner he was.
We knew Sluca was a good runner, that was why
he was brought in, but he was a sub fifty
percent completion percentage guy through his first few games. What
we saw from Malieu Williams seven miss tackles, five of
his attempts for twelve plus yards, for scrambles forty eight yards.

(21:14):
So if that level of mobility continues, Doug, it changes
the dynamic of this UNLV offense. We finally started to
see Ricky White get involved. He's a force in the
passing game. He's their best I would say offensive skill guy.
And the defense really, I mean, the defense is why
UNLV's got a legit chance to win this conference. Thirty
seven forced turnovers dating back to last season. That's the

(21:36):
third most.

Speaker 4 (21:37):
In the nation. They've got a really good d line.

Speaker 8 (21:39):
Odin brought over just a ton of power for guys.
He got Catalan from Arkansas who he played with Woodard
leading the team in sacks. You got this other kid,
Doyle was a standout for A and M like a
big reason why I think UNLV is starting to have
this resurgence and becoming I don't want to say national program,
but in the group of five, I think they're certainly
one of the better programs. Is because there is because

(22:01):
of their defense. Syracuse comes in. We saw a little
bit of movement towards UNLV early and now I think
there's some there's some buyback on cues.

Speaker 4 (22:08):
It didn't quite get to seven.

Speaker 8 (22:11):
I think the reason why I haven't met Syracuse yet
is I'm a little concerned with the travel, the variance,
and this is one of those games where you just
never know. And one of the things that UNOV has
that a lot of you don't really realize is it's
an altitude the area two thousand feet of sea level
here in Vegas. So we'll see if Syracuse can handle
that and they handle the defense. But McCord's been great

(22:31):
for the Orange this year.

Speaker 1 (22:32):
Ole Miss coming off a loss to South now playing
South Carolina.

Speaker 8 (22:35):
Your thoughts, Yeah, I think with Sellers back in for
South Carolina, the quarterback.

Speaker 4 (22:40):
I think I would take South Carolina here.

Speaker 8 (22:43):
I think the biggest issue for the Rebels is just
the mistakes and the penalties one hundred and thirtieth in
penalties this year. And I don't really know what bounce
back effort we're going to see for ole Miss because
over the years you go back and look at games
after a loss for Lankiff and they've kind of been
up and down. I think the Old Miss defense is
really the the big part of this unit. I think

(23:04):
the question is up front. That's where I think South
Carolina if they can get a sustained running game going.
They're getting Rocket Sanders back this week. They don't really
have a go to receiver, but with Sellers and Sanders,
I think they can at least keep this South Carolina
or this Ole Miss defense off balance. And with ole
Miss on offense, like they scored two hundred and twenty
points against Middle and Wake and Georgia Southern and Furmanon

(23:25):
who just are terrible defense is then you get the
step up in class and man Kentucky's legit, Like look
at that game against Georgia. Like Kentucky can play defense,
I think South Carolina can play defense too. I think
I'll take the points in this one.

Speaker 1 (23:37):
This Doug Gottlieb show here on Fox Sports Radio. This
one I liked a lot from the A and M side.
I just I don't see Missouri on the road. I
think Missouri feels paper tiger E. A and M only
a two and a half point favorite at home. What
are your thoughts?

Speaker 4 (23:55):
Yeah, I agree.

Speaker 8 (23:56):
I think the part that's concerning here, for at least
the professionals in Vegas as this quarterback controversy that's brewing
between Wegman and the backup read. I think Reid fits
the system better, but Wegman's the guy, and you know
he's sprained his shoulder in Week one. He's trending towards playing.
I think that's why the numbers moving towards A and M.

(24:16):
But I'll be honest, I really like what I saw
in Reid, and I think you look at his first
couple of games, you know, filling in against Florida, completion
percentage was really good. It's it's I think, kind of
trended down since and that scares me. It's possible that
him being kind of a gimmicky quarterback now that he's
had a few games on tape they've kind of figured
it out. But Leveon Moss has a merged like he

(24:38):
is the bellcal for this A and M offense over
six yards per carry, inconsistency at wide receiver, and I
think that's where I would prefer Reid because you don't
need your ride receivers as much if if the quarterback
can also run the ball.

Speaker 4 (24:50):
We'll see what Missouri does on offense.

Speaker 8 (24:51):
The interesting thing about Missouri's offense this year, we haven't
seen the best of their offense.

Speaker 4 (24:56):
I think the OC.

Speaker 8 (24:57):
Kirby Moore probably keeping his cards pretty close to the
best considering the competition the first four weeks. I mean
Luther Burden should need only nineteen receptions in four games,
like he needs to be nineteen receptions in a two
game stretch.

Speaker 4 (25:10):
So I think we see the best stuff from Azoo
in this game. But you're on the road, You're in
a tough environment.

Speaker 8 (25:16):
I think the offensive line has not been as solid
as I would have liked, and this A and M
defensive line, I think that's where they really can put
some pressure on Brady Cook. So will see what the
quarterback situation does. I think anything under a field goal.
Though I agree with your take. I think I would
take the Aggies.

Speaker 1 (25:31):
Tennessee big favorite going into Arkansas, take on the Hogs
thirteen and a half and the total is fifty seven
fifty seven.

Speaker 4 (25:40):
Yeah, I want to lay it with Tennessee.

Speaker 8 (25:42):
I think there's going to come a point where Tennessee
gets pushed defensively at some point this year. But I
don't know if it's this game, right Taylor Green's really struggling.
Leads all conference quarterbacks with sixty five inaccurate passes. Over
forty five percent of his passing attempts through five games
have been deemed inn aci So it just I don't
know if this is the right defense for him to

(26:03):
be going up against. Because Tennessee, as much as we
want to talk about hypel in the offense and we'll
get to that in a minute, they deserve all the praise.

Speaker 4 (26:11):
The defensive numbers have been really good.

Speaker 8 (26:13):
Now the competition hasn't been good, right, You faced Oklahoma
who has no offense, Kent State bottom feed er, NC
State bottom feeder. I think what we're gonna see this
week is Arkansas try to.

Speaker 4 (26:24):
Push the ball down the field. They do have one
legit deep threat and your armstrong.

Speaker 8 (26:28):
But if Tennessee can kind of take that away, Green
again is going to give you at least one or
two heart attack balls at some point in this game,
and it's a matter if Tennessee can convert them into
turnovers on the other side of the ball. This is
where I really think the game could be won by
the balls. Nico Is, he's a front runner. He likes
to push the ball down the field. They like to
have a lead. I expect him to have a lead

(26:49):
in this game. The difference this year in prior years,
Doug is they have a running game, and they have
a really good running game.

Speaker 4 (26:54):
They have two.

Speaker 8 (26:55):
Fantastic backs that are both in the top twenty of
rushing efficiency. Bishop who we don't know about yet. The
freshmen really coming on strong. We know about Dylan Samson.
The receiver group is strong. McCoy, Brazil White, and you
got Thornton out. There is a deep play thread over,
you know, thirty four yards per catch, O line getting
a little healthier. I don't know if Arkansas's defense, which
is faced Pine Bluff, uab A, and m Auburn, Oklahoma

(27:17):
State all outside the top fifteen offense. I don't know
if they're ready for this kind of offense. And I
think two touchdowns. Anything under that two touchdown mark, I
think is a bet. On Tennessee This Week.

Speaker 1 (27:27):
Wow Stug Gottlieb Show. This is Fox Sports Radio. Jared
Smith is our Fox Sports Radio betting analyst. You can
check them out on Countdown to Kickoff tomorrow morning, Fox
Sports Radio. iHeartRadio app presented by Bett MGM. All Right, Iowa.
Sam said this is his game of the week. You
for people who missed. People missed you kind of crushed
his pick. Ohio State Iowa go.

Speaker 4 (27:49):
I'll walk it back a little bit here.

Speaker 8 (27:50):
I will say this, Iowa was outscored ninety two ZIP
in three games against rank opponents last year. I'll leave
that there. Yeah, and States won their first four games
by thirty plus. They beat the Hawk guys by forty
a couple of years ago, and that was the most
points allowed by Kirk Farrence in an Isle game period.

Speaker 4 (28:11):
Fifty four points feel owed in that game back in
twenty two.

Speaker 8 (28:13):
There's just something about this Ohio State offense that really
disrupts a very good Iowa defense. And we always say
good offense beats good defense. And I think That's kind
of how I feel about Ohio State's offense in this game.

Speaker 4 (28:28):
First of all, let's start with the running backs.

Speaker 8 (28:29):
Judkins Henderson averaging eight yards of carry number one in
EPA per rush. You've got one of the best freshmen
in the country. We know Ryan Williams at Bama. Well,
Jeremiah Smith is right there and oh, by the way,
all American and Mega Buka is the number two guy.
Like that's the number two guy. Their number three guy,
Carnell Tait probably a number one option at every program
in the country except for maybe Alabama Georgia. So it's

(28:52):
just the depth at talent and skill is just they
just come at you in waves and waves and waves.
The old line is very improved. I think the question
mark is at right guard. The interior of the offensive
line is where I was gonna have to make their
hey like they're gonna have to TFLs, havoc plays sacks,
some kind of of a of a flip of a
script in order to stay in this game.

Speaker 4 (29:14):
I will where I'll walk back to prediction a little bit.

Speaker 8 (29:16):
Iowa's offense has been much better than expected thirty one
points against Minnesota snap the streak of thirteen consecutive conference
game scoring thirty or less. But can they run it
effectively with Johnson. I think Matt Namara is a game manager.
He's a good quarterback, but sixty two passing yards against Minnesota,
like you you can't do that against Ohio State and

(29:37):
expect to stay within three scores.

Speaker 4 (29:39):
I like the fact that the turnovers are down.

Speaker 8 (29:41):
Johnson twenty two percent of his runs or ten plus,
like he is an explosive legit back, like he's like
a Sean Green when they had those really explosive running
backs that could, you know, make one guy missing and
boom their fifty yards down the field.

Speaker 4 (29:52):
I think that's what Caleb Johnson is.

Speaker 8 (29:54):
And this Ohio State defense less than seven yards per
play or excuse me, seven yards per seven points per
game allowed.

Speaker 4 (30:00):
Which is really good.

Speaker 8 (30:01):
But this is the first actual test I would say
for Iowa, and I think I really just think Ohio
State puts the pedal down and just absolutely blows the
doors off because Jim Knowles knows if he walks the
safeties up in the box, there's nobody on Iowa's receiving
group that's going to beat him deep. And as much
as Ohio State's lost a lot in the game, you know,

(30:22):
in the linebacker group. I think that they're going to
be able to stop the run and they're going to
turn Macnamara into a thrower, and that's just that feels
like a really bad.

Speaker 4 (30:29):
Result for the Hawkeyes.

Speaker 1 (30:31):
Jared Smith, who of course has done a great job
the last year get himself an unbelievable physical condition. Congrats

Let me get a foul thing. Gotta get a foul
thing for all your West Virginia fans are in town.
Gets your foul thing tonight. Let's get to the Let's
get to the press, the press, Do Do Do Do

(32:53):
Doug a piece.

Speaker 3 (32:54):
Of interesting information before we get into the injuries of
who's in and who's.

Speaker 4 (32:59):
Out this week.

Speaker 3 (33:00):
NFL Players Association has released a statement this afternoon saying
that the National Football League and the Pro Football Writers
of America have failed miserably in their attempts to allow
new access to players following postgame interviews. This is the
statement by the Players Association quote. Over the past three years,

(33:21):
the NFLPA has tried to work with the NFL and
Pro Football Writers of America to move media interviews out
of locker rooms. However, there have been little willingness to
collaborate on a new solution. Players feel that locker room
interviews invade their privacy and are uncomfortable. This isn't about
limiting media access, but about respecting players privacy and dignity

(33:43):
end quote. Further On in the statement, the NFLPA called
the media policy outdated.

Speaker 1 (33:49):
I would actually agree.

Speaker 4 (33:50):
I agree one hundred percent.

Speaker 1 (33:51):
I agree, like what are we doing? You know, well,
you know this is part of the like why why
wait outside the locker room? Guys need to have you know,
guys need to spend time. There's always gonna be guys
that duck out of interviews, even if it's in the
locker room. There's plenty of guys that can duck out.
They go in the trading room. They they you know,
they as soon as media availability goes, they're out the
door or whatever. I could not possibly agree more. This

(34:14):
is outdated. Don't need to do it.

Speaker 3 (34:17):
The writers, I think, have always said that they get
better quotes, they get better access and more emotions by
being able to have that access. And I just I don't.
I don't think it's a fair trade off, to be
honest with you.

Speaker 1 (34:30):
I don't either like you should be entitled to suprivacy. Yes,
changing clothes and putting your stuff on, and yes.

Speaker 3 (34:36):
And for anyone that's been in the locker room, it's
uncomfortable for everyone. I think it's uncomfortable for reporters as well.
I don't totally, so I don't know why they would
fight back on it.

Speaker 4 (34:46):
I don't either, all right, To clear up the Davante autam.

Speaker 1 (34:49):
There is there is one part to it though, that
that does contradict itself. Is how many times do we
see guys go live from the locker room. Remember started
with the Steelers and Mike Tomlin didn't like it, But
we see guys go live from the locker room all
the time. And then they do have the you know,
usually the this Fox or CBS camera or the team
cameras in there in the locker room. I do think
it's different when it's a one on one interview and
there's dudes getting changed and going taking showers. But there

(35:11):
is a little bit of a contradiction with players themselves
broadcasting live from the locker room. When you can't have
media members in there, so I think, like, look, let's
just make it a universal. Nothing comes out of the
locker rooms except for if you want to have the
postgame speech and the game ball handoff, I guess for
social media. But even that does go a little bit
counter to what they're saying, is.

Speaker 4 (35:31):
That Thevesante the Vesconte Shanko.

Speaker 1 (35:33):
Rule, Vesonte Shanko, Visconte and his Shankoh.

Speaker 4 (35:38):
Yeah, all right.

Speaker 3 (35:39):
Some big names missing from Week five, especially at the
running back position, Doug. The Colts will not have Jonathan
Taylor against the Jaguars. Texans will be without Joe Mixon
in their game against the Bills. The Steelers are going
to be without Jalen Warren and Cordero Patterson against the Cowboys,
while Devin Singletary is doubtful for the Giants against the Seahawks.

Speaker 1 (35:58):
Outside of that, Missus Lincoln was the show. So what
do you do? Give me somebody to pick up if
I'm a fantasy.

Speaker 3 (36:03):
Well, Cam Akers has probably been picked up in your league,
but he is a guy that you would want in
case you want to play against the Bills defense with
the Texans, Bill's playing without Ed Oliver in that game
Colt side of things, Tray Sermon is the guy that
is likely to pick up the slack with Taylor out.
Anthony Richardson status still up in the aries, questionable to
play against Jacksonville. If he plays, he'll obviously take up

(36:25):
a big part of the running game. But if he doesn't,
then it's Tray Sermon because Joe Flacca we know is
not going to run. Cowboys defensive or excuse me, Cowboys
linebacker Micah Parsons has been ruled out of that game
against these Steelers, something we expected but officially ruled out
on Sunday night, as well. A couple of other notes
Cardinals Ton and Trey McBride's cleared concussion protocol and we'll

(36:47):
play against the forty nine ers on Sunday, all right.
Moving on, Raiders wide receiver DeVante Adams supposed to a
picture of Edgar Allan Poe on Instagram and then followed
with another post of a poem. Josina Anderson NFL Inside
says nothing going on between the Raiders and Ravens on
a possible trade between the two teams involving Adams, Then.

Speaker 1 (37:07):
Why post Edgar? Is there something that you like? Edgar?
Allen Poe.

Speaker 4 (37:11):
I don't know, I don't know.

Speaker 1 (37:12):
It's just very most famous poem is the Raven.

Speaker 3 (37:17):
Yes, and that's yeah. The organization named after that that
poem as well. Quick your favorite egg around Poe work,
piece of work?

Speaker 8 (37:25):
Go?

Speaker 4 (37:27):
Who are you asking the raven? Mine would be the
cask of a mantiado. Thank you.

Speaker 3 (37:31):
I can't trust what you said, Sam, because you messed
up the author thing.

Speaker 4 (37:34):
When I was out to Archard President and John crack Art,
Big Apple.

Speaker 1 (37:39):
Sam Apple, Sam, and he told us, woe is me
for the horror underfunded ragtag Mets who somehow pulled off
a miraculous upset of those mighty bad boys rs.

Speaker 3 (37:52):
We got good news for Sam's Nicks here. Patrick Ewing
is joining the organization as an ambassador for.

Speaker 1 (37:57):
The Patrick Ewing or Patrick Ewing you're chewing that you're chewing?
Does I remember that commercial?

Speaker 8 (38:04):
No?

Speaker 1 (38:04):
I don't, I'll send it to you. It's very good.

Speaker 4 (38:09):
That's the thrust, get out there and pressed. That was
the press.

Speaker 1 (38:13):
By the way, I remember when all the former Knicks
were never going to be around because they don't like
Dolin or whatever. Well, all of sudden, now the team
wins and they got Jalen Brunson and Karl Anthony Town's
like sure, yeah, I'll do the Ambassadors. Think that's like
the easiest gig of all time. Right, what do I
have to do? Like, you just show up and wave
and go to Knicks games and get paid. Okay, I

(38:34):
could do that. Have a great weekend. No Gottlib show.
