thirty more seconds of the intro. You can hear Monsey

Curry right here on Fox Sports Radio talking about all

(00:44):
now taken that part of her life and has completely
swapped it with any interaction that she and I have
had in this studio over the last four months. Hey,
that is what's going on?

Speaker 2 (01:10):
This was like the King of Queen's episodes. I know
Doug Heffery getting a lot of love Kevin James of
the photo and the meme where he took a carry
on a vacation that he didn't previously, that he didn't
take carry before, but he thought it was her, but
it was with a different girl. And so this is
Manzi just trying to think of everything that everything that
you do with Alex Curry on Saturdays, you thought that

(01:31):
we also did it here. So that's all got crossed.

Speaker 3 (01:36):
My wires got crossed. Yes, were you.

Speaker 5 (01:38):
Gonna were you gonna play a game? Is that we
were going to do something else? Okay, we don't have
to air it out here.

Speaker 4 (01:45):
We just was really confused.

Speaker 6 (01:47):
Okay, that's all.

Speaker 2 (01:48):
Yeah, that's okay. But it is like, remember when we
went to blank? We never have gone to blank? Oh
I'm sorry. That was with crazy lady that I used
to date.

Speaker 3 (02:00):
Literally just he's like, no, that's you an Alex. I
was like, oh, I'm so sorry.

Speaker 7 (02:04):
At least you haven't called him Alex on the area.

Speaker 3 (02:07):
Yes, at least at least there is that.

Speaker 2 (02:11):
Yet yet. Yeah, is the big is the keyword? Let's
get into this trade because now I think we've got
an opportunity to take a step back hearing what the
people are saying. Listening on the deal that Damian Lillard
was traded to the Milwaukee Bucks, and now you get
a lot of a lot of content on this Manci,

(02:33):
a lot of people coming up with their own thoughts,
their own ideas of what's what it's going to mean
for the Milwaukee Bucks. I thought it was interesting in
the side of how we now look at individual players.
But I do want to start out because you weren't
behind this mic yesterday when this deal broke down. You

(02:55):
hear the trade, Damian Lillard not going to the Heat,
going to the Bars. Sons are involved, They ship DeAndre
eight and out they get a couple of pieces. Portland's
gets their restart. First thing that popped into your mind
when this deal went down was what.

Speaker 8 (03:10):
So The first thing I saw didn't include the entire
trade with the three teams. All I saw Damian Lillard
going to Milwaukee, and I said, what the how did
this happen? Where did this come out of? That's my
initial thought. Then I saw the other teams involved, and
I was like, Wow, the Sun's got a good deal
out of this, not just the Milwaukee Bucks, but the

(03:33):
Suns too. That's initially what I thought, and I don't
think anyone fixiated on that. I think everybody was just like,
Dame is going to Milwaukee, which is great, So happy
for Dame that he's gonna actually have an opportunity to
contend for a title. But I think the Suns really
came out on top of this trade.

Speaker 2 (03:50):
You know, Doug hit it on the head yesterday and
in saying like, in all of this, you know, the
Miami Heat were the biggest losers, and I think they
were the actual team that everyone truly focused on right
at the outset because we thought it was a done
deal that he was going to Miami. I don't want
to be biased as a Bucks fan, so I kind
of take myself out of it. I obviously thought of

(04:11):
my team's luck in getting this done. Now they're good fortune.
But then there's also other steps that come after that.
And that's where I think we now are, twenty five
hours after this deal was announced, is Okay, what are
the real steps? What's going on here? And I saw
something that just kind of took a back because I

(04:34):
don't view how this trade is being done and it
has to deal with Yiannis and Tetakumpo, and that's where
I want to dive into manzi Is. People are now
putting the target on Giannis's back, saying Yianis has no
excuse and this is now championship or bust with Milwaukee
and specifically Jannis and Teta Cumpo. Newsflash, it actually always

(04:57):
has been championship or bust if you really look on
the last couple of seasons. However, there's a huge caveat
to this. You still have to look at the organization
and this right now is not the San Antonio Spurs.
And I think if you looked at the Spurs in
nineteen ninety nine, you saw their future with Tim Duncan,
you thought, man, this could be really something special. Never

(05:17):
did you think that you would win the titles that
you did and be able to switch out David Robinson
and Sean Elliott and Navy Johnson with the likes of
Mono Ginobili and Tony Parker and have this whole other run.
But the Spurs made quite a run. My point is this,
as a Bucks fan and anybody who followed the Bucks,
to just win one title was enough. Honestly, like everything
a Giannis could do afterwards was gravy, and I think

(05:39):
a big portion of the Bucks fan base felt, you
know what, if Giannis does leave after his contract, not
that it's okay, but it's not like he's going to
be hated because he delivered something that they never thought
would be possible. So when I saw something today that said,
Manzi that now Giannis has to bring a championship home,
I don't think that that's the case. And I don't

(06:00):
know if I'm talking from a Bucks perspective as a
Bucks fan perspective, I think the pressure is now on
Damian Lillard. I don't know if Damian Lillard goes to
Miami and wins an NBA title or not, But now
that he's with Milwaukee and they're the odds on favorite
to win the championship, like now Dame is in that
conversation of players to never have won best player to

(06:22):
have won the title, this is a huge, huge deal
for Damian Lillard. And I don't think that the pressure
is on Giannis as much as it is on Damian Lillard,
who now has to help bring that second championship to Milwaukee.

Speaker 3 (06:36):
Yeah, that's silly. Why is it all on Yannis.

Speaker 8 (06:39):
I didn't think that at all at all, And I
hear what you're saying. Once they won, it was he
delivered already for the city for your team. I agree
that if you would have left, you weren't going to
hold it against him, is what you're saying, right, because
you weren't gonna hold it against him, just like I
think most Blazers fans are not holding it against Damian
Lillard that.

Speaker 3 (06:59):
He wants to go and do something right.

Speaker 8 (07:02):
I don't see in what scenario you put the pressure
strictly on you, honest, it's either on the entire team
because keeping Chris Middleton was huge.

Speaker 3 (07:12):
In this trade, right, so it's like, oh, you guys
are are totally stacked.

Speaker 8 (07:17):
And even though I didn't think of this when the
trade happened, I agree with you. I think it's on
Damian Lillard now at this point, and I agree that
if you would have gone to Miami, I don't think
the pressure would have been as much because Miami.

Speaker 3 (07:29):
We all like Miami is good.

Speaker 8 (07:31):
And like they're fun to watch, but they also aren't
to the level of like the Denver Nuggets of even
the Milwaukee Bucks.

Speaker 3 (07:38):
You know there was something missing there now with.

Speaker 8 (07:42):
The Mihakeey Bucks, they're almost damn near perfect, like.

Speaker 3 (07:46):
Almost, you know.

Speaker 8 (07:48):
I don't think it is a clear win for them
that they're gonna win the championship.

Speaker 3 (07:53):
I don't.

Speaker 8 (07:53):
I think the Denver Nuggets are still the better team
they've been playing. They know what their their identity is. There,
not that Milwaukee is gonna be able to figure it out.
But I do think Milwaukee comes out of the East,
and they.

Speaker 3 (08:03):
Should and the pressure should be on Damian Lollard. How
is it not? How is it not?

Speaker 2 (08:10):
There are certain points in history where we look back
on and I go back to the Kevin Durant scenario.
It's not apples to apples here. Because Kevin Durant was
a top top two player in the NBA, top three
player in the NBA at the time that he was traded,
at the time that he chose to leave Oklahoma City
and then signed as a free agent with Golden State.
That tilted the deck heavily in favor of Golden State.

(08:35):
But even with them being so good, manci, I look
at those titles that he won in Golden State as
his titles, and I look at the twenty fifteen and
the twenty nineteen as Steph Clay's in Draymond's titles, and
I think that when you go throughout time, and this
is actually one of the things with with Jordan and

(08:57):
Lebron is their titles are pretty much which always going
to be their titles. Kobe's five, we think three of
them are Shacks. And if Kobe was here today, I
think that he would tell you that two thousand and
eight and or excuse me, two nine and twenty ten
meant more because they were without Shack, they were his team.
And that's how I feel like when Yannis has this.

(09:20):
When you look back on his career, if he and
Dame end up winning a title or two or three,
it's the one that they won in twenty twenty one
that is probably going to be the most special to
Giannis because of everything that he went through and of
being that big dog. But now you look at what
Damian Lillard is. He is now while he may not
be a top three player in the league like Durant was,

(09:40):
he has firmly now put himself in conversation of you'd
need to win a title to really validate your career.
If he would have stayed in Portland, he's immune from that.
There's like this protective shield around that because he's loyal
to his city. It's on the organization for not getting
it done, but he stayed loyal to his team once

(10:00):
you wanted out. And now especially when you team up
with Giannis, who no offense to Nicola Jokic. But some
people feel that Giannis is still the best player in
the game today despite Yoki's great success that he's had
over the last couple of years. Now you put him
with the you know who's something of the best player
in the league, things change, things are different now.

Speaker 3 (10:20):
Yeah, I agree, Damien has to win.

Speaker 2 (10:25):
It was just me choking.

Speaker 4 (10:26):
Yeah, no, he was choking, and I took a moment
just to make sure he wasn't actually choking. I just
had to make sure that I didn't like try to
do CPR or something on air.

Speaker 3 (10:38):
But I would have figured it out. I thought.

Speaker 2 (10:39):
I tried to push through it.

Speaker 4 (10:40):
I thought, especially you know, you tried, you were you
did it.

Speaker 3 (10:45):
But it was a little a bit of a.

Speaker 2 (10:47):
Scary mom But it's but now it's Damian Lillard, like
he's the one that Yeah, I love Damian Lillard. It's
it's just the natural thing, like the target is now
on his back. Giannis has accomplished what he's already accomplished.
What's different now in Milwaukee? Damian Lillard's there, so now
it's on Lillard's shoulders to help bring that title to
the bus.

Speaker 8 (11:07):
Do you think that these comments that Jannis has a
target on his back came from his recent comments a
week ago where he said He's like, no, I like
it here, but I need to win and if that
requires me to go elsewhere, I'm gonna go else Remember
that he just said that.

Speaker 3 (11:22):
So do you think that's why people are putting it
on him?

Speaker 8 (11:26):
Because he said that, and now Milwaukee was like, all right,
we gave you what you wanted, now.

Speaker 3 (11:31):
Go take it.

Speaker 2 (11:31):
I did not characterize those those comments like that. I
characterized their comments, those comments as not leaving to go
win another championship, but just leaving period. Because if he
leaves that organization, that is the equivalent of Kevin Durant
leaving Oklahoma City. Unfortunately for them, though, there is no

(11:53):
there is no Russell Westbrook anymore. There there is no
you know, Paul George coming in, There is none of that.
If left the box, it is a full on a
rebuild and you had traded a lot of assets to
set up, you know, your squad, that the Bucks would
have been in the bottom ten of the NBA. They
would have like if Giannis leaves. That's so Jannis putting

(12:16):
the bat signal out to the front office of being like, yeah,
I want to make sure that this team is competitive.
That could factor into my decision. It's him talking about
a title, but I think it's mostly about him. It
was him staying in Milwaukee, and I think that the
two things are separate. As crazy as that sounds, I

(12:38):
think that if the biggest deal is to make sure
that he stays there and is competitive. And it's funny
as well, because there are reports that popped up over
the last twenty four hours how Yannis there was a
Jimmy Butler when he was unhappy in Minnesota. The Bucks
could have been interested, but he didn't want to give
up Chris Middleton as part of that deal or something
that Milwaukee was interested in kyrielast year and he didn't

(13:01):
want any part of that. It's just rumors and speculation
and stuff that you hear, but he was willing enough
to give up Drew Holliday to bring in Damian Lillard, Yeah,
I had him separated, Manzie, I really dou I don't
know if that's right or wrong, but I separated them
in not of winning a championship. It it's just more
of him staying in Milwaukee and what he would need

(13:23):
to do to stay in Milwaukee. So I think once
you leave, it is the automatic championship. But if he
would have stayed in Milwaukee and didn't win, even though
they were kind of competitive, I don't think that. I
think he would have been fine with his legacy, If
that makes any sense.

Speaker 3 (13:39):
I think so too, But then why make those comments.

Speaker 8 (13:41):
That's what's weird about it, because I I up until
he said those comments, I actually agree that. I thought
he wanted to stay in Milwaukee and just be competitive.
And when he said that, I was like, huh, all
this championship talk, because now we put so much, so
much weight.

Speaker 3 (13:56):
On winning a title. That's why Damian.

Speaker 8 (13:58):
Lillard left Portland because we have put so much weight
on it, and I did not. I thought Janis was
he won that one, and I thought he was happy
with his legacy and he would not want to leave Milwaukee,
especially because.

Speaker 3 (14:09):
He's such a he seems like such a simple guy,
like we always see these videos of him. He's like,
I got this for free, this for free, this was
given to me.

Speaker 8 (14:18):
Like he doesn't care about the flashy stuff or any
of that. So I was taken aback by the car.

Speaker 2 (14:24):
You may have something there. Considering I think that no
matter whoever was around yan Us, I think the Bucks
would have been a top four, top five team in
the East. We saw what Portland was with name they
barely a team that was, you know, sniffing the playoffs
and then in the end not So there's a different level.
I mean, obviously Jannie is Dames in a different class.

(14:47):
Giannice is in a higher class of how we look
at these different players. But there may be there may
be something to that in what you're saying of I
just think with Dame staying in Portland, it just each
year just keep on getting less and less. At at some
point you got to hit the reset.

Speaker 3 (15:03):
But yeah, you don't blame him.

Speaker 8 (15:04):
I don't blame him as much as you would want
him to stay there. Yesterday, when I was doing updates
on the Jason Smith Show with Mike Carmon, he late
at night, he retweeted a lot of stuff Damian Line
retweeted a lot of different things that people were tweeting,
and one of the things he retweeted was from a
Blazers fan page, I'm gonna guess, and it said, I

(15:26):
truly believe that Damian Lillard is going to go to Milwaukee,
win a championship, come back to Portland, and retire a Blazer.
And he retweeted that, and so again, the weight of
a title is what he is looking at.

Speaker 2 (15:39):
Let me quick ask you this. If the Bucks lose
in the Eastern Conference Finals to the Boston Celtics, whose
fault is it in Milwaukee?

Speaker 8 (15:49):
That's such a tough question to ask right now without
having seen them ever play together.

Speaker 2 (15:54):
But I'll say this, it comes off of a season
where they lost in the first round to the Miami Heat.
So now you would make it to the Eastern Conference finals,
but you didn't win a title. See, I think it's
on Damian Lillard's It.

Speaker 3 (16:05):
Is on Damian Lillard. But I wouldn't even say that
that's a failure.

Speaker 2 (16:10):
Three seasons after winning an NBA title like yeah.

Speaker 8 (16:14):
And then getting to the Eastern Conference Finals and losing
to a team that's also right, the.

Speaker 2 (16:19):
Odds they're the odds on favorite to win a title
any any Yeah, right now they're the favorite.

Speaker 3 (16:25):
They're the favorite plus three fifty over Denver.

Speaker 8 (16:28):
Yeah, because I think they're gonna goin to come out
of the East.

Speaker 3 (16:31):
I don't think that they're not.

Speaker 8 (16:33):
Coming out of the East, barring any you know, injuries
or anything like that.

Speaker 3 (16:38):
But I don't.

Speaker 8 (16:38):
I don't see how the Celtics beat them, especially without
Marcus Smart.

Jared Smith joins us here on Fox Sports Radio. What's
going on, Jared?

Speaker 10 (18:17):
Oh, you know, another week? It's you know now, we've
had a few weeks of data points with the NFL,
so we can start to figure out who these teams
are college. It seems like every week we get a
new vibe for what some of these top teams could
be this year.

Speaker 3 (18:31):
Jared, thanks so much for joining us.

Speaker 8 (18:33):
Let's get into it tonight an NFC North show down.
Both teams two win one, Packers Lions. The Packers might
get some weapons back. I've told you I don't do
any betting. What's the easy bet tonight? Easy bet tonight?

Speaker 10 (18:49):
I was gonna say, what's the line in dumb and Dummer?
I bet I can get you betting by the end
of the segment. It's maybe the goal for coming on today.
So we've seen this total get bet down on little bit.
So there's some money coming in on the under today,
and there's the money coming in on the Lions. And
I think what we saw last week, especially with Detroit
kind of figuring out their defense, and I think we

(19:09):
might look back on this season and view the Atlanta
Falcons offense in a very different light. Some of the
things we heard from Detroit's press conferences this week was
that the Falcons really didn't run a whole lot and
it wasn't a very complicated scheme that they were facing.
So I don't know if we're going to get a
very different behind from the lines defense this week. My
guess is it will be a much difficult, much more
difficult challenge facing Jordan Love. But one thing I've noticed

(19:32):
with Jordan Love's very inconsistent. But the ceiling is high.
He's very aggressive. He's not afraid to make the deep
throw down the field, He's not afraid to make the
back shoulder throw. But some of the easier stuff with
Jordan Love has been a little bit of a struggle.
He has the highest rate of uncatchable passes in the
NFL this season of any starting quarterback. So again, high ceiling,

(19:53):
low floor. I think Jared Goff a little bit steadier.
I would probably lean to the lines in this spot.
It feels like a good spot for De Troit. I
think the market's telling us that they're the better side here,
and total wise, I'm not buying with the market sell
and I think both of these offenses are pretty prime.
I really like the Packers offense getting some of those
pieces back this week. The Lions should be a little

(20:13):
bit healthier upfront, getting Decker back their sut left tackle,
So I would say Lions in the over would be
my play tonight.

Speaker 2 (20:20):
Jared, how many of us get tricked into thinking about
what happened last year in Week eighteen, because with Pro
football wise, it's only been a few games since we
last saw the Lions beat the Packers in last year's
end of season matchup. Do you see any of that
carry over into Week four of this season?

Speaker 10 (20:41):
So the one thing that I will say about the NFL,
the divisional games tend to linger. For example, the Eagles
this week facing Washington. Well, last year on Monday Night,
Washington went into Philly and handed the Eagles their first
loss of the year. My guess is those types of
games will linger in the locker room and they will
be talking about that game this week. I'm sure the

(21:01):
Packers will be talking about that game this week against
the Lions in Week eighteen last year. But week to week,
I think we do fall into a trap dance sometimes
of looking too much at what happened last week, and
a lot of that time the market moves and then
you have to look to the other side because sometimes
it overreacts. In the NFL, the biggest storyline from the

(21:21):
prior week tends to bake itself into the market, which
then opens up some of that betting value on the
other side. So again, last week, both of these teams
had pretty impressive wins. I know the Packers didn't look
great for about forty minutes of that game, but the
fourth quarter they were fantastic and they made all the
right coaching moves, and I think that momentum should carry over,
but not so much so to where the betting market

(21:43):
really likes screen Bay this week, and in fact, a
lot of sharp money's coming in on Detroit, So we're
not seeing that overreaction to the Packers comeback win last week,
which I think is the smart move because let's be honest,
they were trailing for a big portion of that game
and they were fortunate to win it.

Speaker 3 (22:01):
You're listening to the Doug Gottlieb Show on Moncy.

Speaker 8 (22:03):
Bolano's in with Dan Byer and we've got Jared Smith
FSR betting analysts. Jared, let's move on to college football,
which has been a big story. Obviously deon Sanders and Colorado,
but they are huge underdogs this week against USC Any
chance that they're going to have a different week than

(22:23):
last week, I would.

Speaker 10 (22:25):
Be surprised if they pulled up the outright upset. I
think we've reached the point in the season where the
market has now fully caught up to Colorado. Nobody knew
what this team was the first couple of weeks, and
it was an unprecedented situation, so I'm not surprised that
they were a huge underdog Week one against TCU and
ended up winning that game out right. Obviously a much

(22:48):
different situation a couple weeks later when they were a
huge favorite against Colorado State. They were able to win
the game, but they didn't cover the spread. Well, now
they were a big underdog against Oregon and or lay
the absolute hammer on them, and I think the market
is starting to figure out what Colorado is, which is
a very talented team. At the tippy top of their

(23:09):
roster quarterback, running back, wide receiver, the skilled position groups
arguably guys that could start on any Power five team
in the country. Perhaps maybe not except you know, George Alabama,
those types of teams. But for the most part, the
talent at Colorado at the top is very solid. But
on defense is really where they struggle, and they don't
have a lot of depth and I think that's where
USC's offense is going to take advantage this week. But

(23:32):
on the other side, you saw go watch the Arizona
State game from Saturday night. I mean the sun Devils,
who were down to Drew Pine at quarterback, were running
at left, right, and center all over this Trojans defense.
So I think Colorado's offense can compete in this game.
I didn't we see a ton of points of this game.
I probably bet the over, but I think the spread
is right. I think USC wins. They probably win by
a couple of scores.

Speaker 2 (23:53):
Jared's vien Cher. I guess you're on Fox Sports Radio.
There are some you know, sneaky good games this week.
All eyes on Texas, at least for Longhorn fans, as
those feisty Kansas Jayhawks come to town. I think we all
have the memory of Kansas going in there and knocking
them off a couple of years ago. Completely different Kansas team,
completely different Texas team. But Texas about a sixteen and

(24:15):
a half point favorite. How do you think that that
Big twelve showdown shapes up?

Speaker 10 (24:19):
Yeah? I think I would probably be interested in the
dogs here. I was against Texas last week in that
spot against Baylor, and I think it was just I
don't think Baylor has anything going for them momentum wise.
But you look at what this Texas team is at
their core, very good defense, still a little bit unsettled
on offense, and you've got the big look ahead spot

(24:40):
next week against Oklahoma. So I think that who you're
playing the following week and who you played the prior week,
to me, matters a lot more in college football than
it does in the NFL. And it makes sense as
to why college football, you're dealing with teenagers, and they
are much more susceptible to the highs and the lows
the en I felt they're professionals. You would expect them

(25:02):
to be able to handle. Oh we've got a big
game next week. Well, we've got to make sure we
take care of our business this week because we can't
look ahead. A little bit tougher to do when it's
Texas and Oklahoma in the last time that these teams
ever will play in the Big Twelve. So I wouldn't
be shocked if Texas maybe looking ahead to next week's
game and think Nursey Kansas has got the duke unlike Baylor,
where I thought Texas maybe was a little bit susceptible

(25:24):
coming off that win against Alabama. They followed it up
with a nice win against Wyoming, and I thought maybe
we would see some regression back to the mean for
this Texas team, but they went throttled down against Baylor.
This could be the week again. They're at home, which
certainly helps, but I think this Kansas team has an opportunity,
especially with that quarterback Daniels, to make some moves and
cause some problems with this Texas defense.

Speaker 8 (25:43):
All right, Jared, the Fighting Irish are favorites against Duke.
Is there any hangover from last week's loss to Ohio State.

Speaker 10 (25:53):
Yeah, that's the big question, Mansa. I think I love
Notre Dame as a team, and I think when you
watch that from last week, Notre Dame was the better team.
Not only were they the better team, but the thing
that surprised me the most was how well they held
up in the trenches. We know they've got to arguably
one of the best left tackles in the country, Joe
all but the rest of that offensive line had shown

(26:16):
some weaknesses at certain points throughout the year, and I
think that was the biggest impression for me. Was how
good Notre Dame looked up front. They were able to
push Ohio State around. But here's the problem. I thought
the coaching staff really let them down on that game.
Why not put the ball in the hands of Sam Hartman.
He threw it only twenty five times against Ohio State
and they ran at thirty nine times. That's the whole
reason why you brought Sam Hartman in. So I'm curious

(26:37):
how Marcus Freeman handled the locker room this week. Remember
last year they lost to Ohio State and made much
more I would call it distance game they held on
for dear life at Ohio State was just too much.
Then the following week they lost to Marshall outright as
a three touchdown underdog. Marcus Freeman mentioned that game in
the press conference this week. They are aware of that
letdown after the gut wrenching loss. If Notre Dame brings

(27:01):
you that high level of intensity, they should be able
to push around the dookies this week. But I've been
impressed with this two deepense. Mike Elcho's doing a really
good job with the food doubles team, and I think
Ryan Leonard's a great quarterback. This should be a really
fun game to watch this week. I just don't know
how Notre Dame's going to handle the letdown.

Speaker 2 (27:15):
Yeah, I think it's gonna be a fun week. I
know last week had so many big matchups, so I
think this week provides it as well. Jared, we appreciate
the time. Can't wait to listen to you Saturday morning.

Speaker 10 (27:23):
Talk to you letter Man, appreciate it.

seven months. You don't have to reveal your age. I'm

(27:44):
not going to ask you to do so, but I was.
I was ten years old at the time, and I
took in a Lions Packers game at lambeau Field. You
want to know what was so unique about that game?
Please tell me it was a scab game. It was
a scab game in nineteen eighty seven. Jason Stewart knows
what I'm talking about. Isaac Longcron knows what I'm talking about.

(28:06):
John Ramos, you know what I'm talking about.

Speaker 5 (28:08):
Yes, I don't want to give away my age, MANSI,
but I was the class of nineteen eighty seven, oh,
in high school. So you figure that one out.

Speaker 3 (28:14):
Yeah, that's a lot of math.

Speaker 9 (28:16):
What do you mean.

Speaker 3 (28:19):
By scab?

Speaker 2 (28:20):
So what did that?

Speaker 3 (28:21):
Because I think of a scab like I cut myself
and I have a.

Speaker 2 (28:24):
Sure But you also think of a scab as someone
who crosses a picket line, or you get someone who
replaces a union worker who is on strike. That is
exactly what happened when the NFL Players Association went on
strike in nineteen eighty seven. So this is what happened, Manzie,
nineteen eighty seven. NFL players go on strike, they want

(28:47):
a better CBA deal. They play the first two weeks
of the season, and then they're not going to play.
All of everybody in the club, all of them, not
just Jonathan Taylor, everybody in the club, everybody most pretty much. Ever. Ever,
there were a few that cross picket lines and continue
to play, but not many. So they didn't have a
Week three. There was no Week three of the NFL.

(29:09):
NFL Owners are like, well, this is garbage. We're going
to bring in other players. So you would replace basically
the entire Green Bay Packers team and just bring in
fifty new guys that were all of a sudden the
Green Bay Packers, and fifty new guys that were all
of a sudden the new Detroit Lions. And they played

(29:30):
in the NFL for three weeks until this was resolved.
The CBA ended up being agreed upon in the strike
ended up being resolved and players went back to work.
But there was a three week window in the NFL
season in nineteen eighty seven where you had the guy
who changed your tires also playing left guard for the

(29:50):
Green Bay Packers. What yes, that that is what happened?

Speaker 3 (29:54):
And the actual you know what?

Speaker 2 (29:56):
And Jason Stewart, you remember this season vividly become Uh.

Speaker 6 (30:01):
Well, I lived ten to fifteen minutes from Anaheim Stadium,
and I remember going to a game and listening in
my walkman to beds are burning by midnight oil in
nineteen eighty seven, and I saw Charles White just go
off in the game. And Charles White was one of
the players that year that played as a member of
the original Rams. I think he crossed the pickle on

(30:23):
or something and played as a scab, and he was
so good in those games they just kept him for
the remainder of the season. If I'm not mistaken, Is
that right?

Speaker 2 (30:29):
Isaac led the NFL in Russian led the NFL into Russian.

Speaker 7 (30:34):
Sorry, yeah, I wasn't paying attention.

Speaker 2 (30:36):
Then everybody else had twelve games except Charles White, who
had fifteen games. Yeah, that's what it was.

Speaker 3 (30:42):
I have a lot of questions. Yes, how many people
were hurt?

Speaker 8 (30:48):
There's no way, like the most physical sport and you
just grabbed people off the streets.

Speaker 2 (30:53):
Yeah, guys who played college football that didn't play in
the NFL didn't make it. Guys, you probably, Yeah, it was.
It was crazy.

Speaker 3 (31:01):
Was it funny?

Speaker 2 (31:03):
Well, I was ten, so I was. I was at
a game I didn't I knew like the Packers and
Lions players that I was familiar with weren't on the field,
So it made it a little weird. What also made
it weird was lambeau Field wasn't full, Like there were
gaps of like I remember like sitting in the end
zone and there weren't tons of people around us when
any other time he went, even when they stunk. There

(31:24):
were people in the stadium that that was happening, and
the Packers lost nineteen to sixteen. But I remember being excited.
It was an exciting game. I think the Packers kicked
a field goal to like force overtime against the Lions
and then the Lions ended up Yeah, Max and Djas
got it in front of me, kicked a forty five
yard field goal to send the game into overtime and

(31:45):
then the Lions won it in overtime. But yeah, that's
what happened in nineteen eighty seven. And in fact, there's
a thirty for thirty about the Washington then Redskins had
their replacement players play so well when some of the
guys from the Cowboys crossed the picket lines back in
the Washington players continue to play and beat them on

(32:05):
Monday Night football. Washington went on to win the Super
Bowl that year, winning Super Bowl twenty two. There's a
whole thirty for thirty on how these replacement players ended
up kind of setting the tone for the Washington football
team that year.

Speaker 3 (32:18):
This is all a fake story.

Speaker 2 (32:20):
Is a real story. It actually happened in the NFL.

Speaker 3 (32:22):
Can I watch this?

Speaker 8 (32:23):
I just need to see how they looked like, what are.

Speaker 3 (32:26):
You talking about?

Speaker 2 (32:27):
Super super weird? It was, It was totally weird. But
that's what you got for three weeks of the NFL season.

Speaker 3 (32:32):
And so every team did this. You just were part
of this game, but every team did this.

Speaker 5 (32:36):
Every team players Yeah, yep, pure like Zach Wilson playing

Speaker 9 (35:13):
The press.

Speaker 2 (35:15):
Some headlines from the day, Isaac.

Speaker 7 (35:16):
Yes, New York. Just quarterback Zach Wilson today addressing the
recent criticism by Jet's legend Joe Namath. And he's passionate.

Speaker 11 (35:25):
He's obviously was, you know, one of the greats, and
so that says an offense. We got to do everything
we can just to try and prove them on. Keep
doing what we can and improve I think the guys
are feeling very optimistic. You know, we all believe in
each other. We're all right there, so excited for this week.

Speaker 7 (35:38):
No word yet on whether Wilson wanted to thank Fox
Sports Radios Monsey Bolagos for apparently being his one and
only supporter.

Speaker 3 (35:44):
You know, it's me and Robert Salas.

Speaker 2 (35:47):
But hey, at least he didn't do Ryan Day and
go after an eighty year old guy. So at least
at least that he didn't do that. Yeah, I want
to know where Joe Namath is right now. And I'm
an wire, a State fan, and I thought it was ridiculous.

Speaker 7 (36:01):
And emotional support alligator named Wallygator, belonging to a Philadelphia
Phillies fan, was denied entry into yesterday's Phillies Pittsburgh Pirates
clash at Citizens Bank Park. Now, the Citizens Bank Park
policy reads quote guide dogs, service animals or service animals

(36:24):
in training are welcome. All other animals are prohibited unquote,
Yet Wallygator was still denied entry. The emotional support alligator's
owner added that Wallygator was denied entry even though he
had quote never bitten anyone unquote.

Speaker 3 (36:42):
Okay, this is so stupid.

Speaker 8 (36:45):
This person couldn't obviously have thought that they were going
to be let in with an alligator. A male alligator
weighs about five hundred pounds a female twohundred pounds. You
legitimately thought you were gonna show up with an alligator
in a harness and they're gonna be like, come on in, sir,
would you like a hot dog?

Speaker 3 (37:00):
You enjoy the game?

Speaker 7 (37:01):
No, you did this for attention.

Speaker 3 (37:03):
And that's so. It's an alligator, this poor alligator. Is
nobody else upset about this story.

Speaker 8 (37:09):
I saw it and I was like, I can't believe this
is a thing. I can't believe we entertained stupid, but
we do.

Speaker 7 (37:18):
What should have happened is they should have taken walligator
to a University of Flora. The game even better.

Speaker 2 (37:25):
But yes, I've seen them, actually, yes, they They've got
lots smaller than this one. Yeah, this is I mean,
the guy didn't want any attention.

Speaker 3 (37:39):
Yeah, okay, did you hear what.

Speaker 2 (37:40):
The security guard said to him? See you later, alligator?
They get out there and pressed that was the press
give him out? When he said that, I thought that
was so classicus In a while, crocodile.

Speaker 3 (37:51):
That's that's where you draw the line.

Speaker 2 (37:53):
Oh, I'm like, how dare you? Dare you talk to
an alligator like that?

Speaker 7 (37:58):
Probably needed some gatorade after that.

Speaker 2 (38:00):
Oh goodness, Ah, the guy was wearing crocs. I thought
that was odd. You gotta pick Tonight Lions or Packers Lions.
All right, We'll go with Monty and take the Lions.
